The Effect Of The On The And Value Of Signal Produced From...
6.1
The device which converts the physical stimulus into a more convenient form for the purpose of
measuring the stimulus is called a sensor.
6.2
Analog sensor: Analog sensor produces analog signal whose values varies in an analogous manner
such as electronic voltage.
Discrete sensor: Discrete sensor produces only certain values as output. It is categorized into two
types
1.) Binary, which produces on/off signal
2.) Digital, which produces a set of parallel status bits or series of pulses.
6.4
The relationship between the value of physical stimulus and value of signal produced is called the
transfer function of the sensor.
6.5
Actuator coverts the controller command signal into change in physical parameter. It is also referred to
as transducer as it converts one type of physical quantity into another type.
6.9
Two disadvantages of DC motors are
1.) The commutator and brushes used causes maintenance problems.
2.) The electrical power is alternating current but DC motors needs a rectifier to convert that into
direct current.
6.10
Conventional DC and AC motors works by continuous rotation according to the DC or AC power
source whereas the stepper motor rotates in step angles where step angle is the rotation in discrete
angular displacements. Electrical pulse is generated for each angular step.
6.13
A solenoid is referred to as an actuator which consists of a movable plunger inside stationary wire
coil. The coil acts as magnet when current is applied, pulls the plunger to the

Compare And Contrast The Most Dangerous Game And Hunters...
In both Richard Connell s The Most Dangerous Game and Tobias Wolff s Hunters in the Snow, seen
are divergent interpretations of similar setting descriptions, protagonists, and conflicts. The short story
The Most Dangerous Game follows a seemingly emotionless war veteran familiar with hunting named
Rainsford who is being chased on an isolated island by a murderer named Zaroff. Conversely in
Hunters in the Snow, the story opens with a large man by the name of Tub almost getting run over
while standing in the freezing weather; the story continues with Tub being harassed by his fellow
hunters. One of the first details mentioned within the main plot of each of these short stories is their
settings. In The Most Dangerous Game, the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader is to assume that Rainsford has killed Zaroff and won the game by the final sentence: He
had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided (p. 79). The allusion to death as seen in Hunters in
the Snow is within the last three sentences: I m going to the hospital, Kenny said. But he was wrong.
They had taken a different turn a long way back (p. 92). Each of these stories also end happily for the
protagonists. Tub is enjoying time with Frank, who is now no longer making fun of him, and
Rainsford is contempt in Zaroff s bed, his trophy for winning the game. The reason behind the
divergent interpretations of both The Most Dangerous Game and Hunters in the Snow are each of the
authors points of view. The reader can assume Richard Connell is more keen of a happy ending for the
protagonist. Contrarily, the reader can assume Tobias Wolff is a more twisted writer and does not mind
leaving the story unhappily open ended. Each of these short stories motivate the reader to sympathize
with the protagonist, but in two completely different ways. The stories are somewhat similar in their
structure; each ending with only an assumption by the reader of how the tale

Chapter 18 The Power Trios
Chapter 18 was engaging to read and discuss in class. Throughout the chapter, we were give a detailed
description of two concepts that came to life during the 1960s and further on. One of these concepts
was, The Power Trios which displayed the musical capacities of many guitarists. Most of them were
given double duties by playing both the rhythm and lead roles. Just like any other genre of rock and
roll the influence of the power trio came from Chicago blue bands and specifically from the Muddy
Waters trio. The second concept we talked about was Heavy Metal. This style of music is strongly
supported by drum and bass rhythms, which were developed in Britain. This genre of music was
highly criticized by social media due to the negative attention

According To Mead Generalized Order
Generalized order is an organized community or group which an individual belongs to. These are
attitudes that one would assume is common for the whole group. Additionally, if we can assume the
attitude of the generalized other, we are capable of forming abstract values and principals regarding
freedom, equal rights, and fairness. For Mead, generalized order clearly demonstrated the relationship
between society and self. Therefore, in order to be ourselves, it is essential to become in a community
of attitudes that control the attitudes of all members. In doing so, individuals can create effective
organizations and activities. According to Mead, the language process is vital in regards to the
development of the self. The term communication

On September 28, 1938 Chamberlain was insistent on avoiding another world war. He therefore called
on Hitler to invite him to Germany to propose a solution through a summit that would involve Britain,
France, Germany, and Italy. As Hitler agreed to the meeting, Chamberlain departed for Munich in an
attempt to settle land disputes and allow the Czech region of the Sudetenland to be part of the German
empire. Upon Chamberlain s arrival in Munich, he was taken directly to the Fuhrerbau, a
representative building where French Prime Minister, Edouard Daladier and Italy s Prime Minister,
Benito Mussolini arrived to meet Hitler as well. The four leaders and their respective translators held

Slavery In Cuba Research Paper
In history, slavery had become a part of all cultures: including Brazil, Cuba, and the United States.
Brazil and Cuba were among the first colonizations to practice the act of enslaving others to do one s
bidding. Slavery was a fundamental foundation upon which these three nation s economy was built on.
After tension, rebellions, and at times war, laws were passed to abolish the act of enslaving others.
Brazil
In the early sixteenth century, the Portuguese began to colonize in Brazil as part of an overseas
expansion plan that began along the western coast of Africa. Brazilian settlements had begun to
manage the cultivation, manufacture, and marketing of sugarcane and sugar. Native American slaves
was initially the labor foundation of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
African slaves were imported from the British Caribbean colonies to Chesapeake to work on tobacco
farms. After the 13 colonies declared independence from Britain, they drafted their constitution in
1787. The word slavery was not written. The act of enslaving someone was not legally sanctioned and
it violated the purpose of human liberty that the constitution stood for. The right to vote was also not
permitted for indigenous people, slaves, and women. After the territorial expansion from the Atlantic
to the Pacific Ocean, the U.S. became the leading force of industrial demand for raw materials such as
cotton. Unlike the North, southern agriculture had built its economy on the foundation of enslaved
labor. Slave trade to the U.S. had ended in 1808, and the northern states had abolished slavery in the
1780s, however the southern states had continued to rely on slave labor. When the Civil War broke
out, it was not on the issue of abolishing slavery as a nation, but whether or not the new states that join
should be slave free or not. Forbidding slavery in the western states would have halted any economic
growth for the southern states who depended on slavery to thrive. It would also shift the balance in
political power, arguing that slave ownership was a right protected by the constitution. When Abraham
Lincoln became president in 1861, the Confederate States of America separated themselves

Autism Communication Strategies
Strategies for Autism as a Communication Disorder There are many disorders that can effect a child s
learning process. Autism is just one of these common disorders that effects 1 in 68 children (Balch).
The American Psychiatric Association defines autism as, a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized
by deficits in social communication and social interactions as well as restricted and repetitive
behaviors, interests, or activities (Balch, p. 429). These deficits in social communication greatly
hinder the teaching learning process within the classroom when successful strategies to help these
children are not being pursued. Autism effects the communication skills of the child, and there are

This can also be represented within the child s visual schedule to provide understanding for the child (

during any play time. It can be difficult for children with autism to make friends because they have a
hard time understanding social cues ( Your ATN@Work ). The recess buddy can also provide a safe
and comfortable environment for the child. Since this will be represented in the child s personal visual
schedule, the child will have an understanding of who they can spend their social time with. The child
s friend can give them comfort in any situation, and allow them to develop their social skills. In order
to provide a child the ability to communicate effectively with their peers during their play time,
assistive technology can be used. Picture Exchange Cards can be an effective way for students with
autism to use pictures of an object to show to others and communicate what they need. Sentences can
also eventually be formed with these cards, so the students can progress in learning how to
communicate effectively ( Autism ). The cost to implement Picture Exchange Cards ranges from

Human Experimentation Essay examples
Introduction: Throughout history there are many examples of humans conducting experiments on
other humans. Over the years human experimentation has greatly advanced the knowledge of human
physiology and psychology, leading to better treatments for ailments both physical and mental as well
as a better overall understanding of the human constitution. Despite all of the good which human
experimentation has done for the human race there have been times when experimenters have taken
human experimentation past the bounds of morality. This unethical human experimentation is most
often caused when the experimenters are, in some way, able to justify their experiments. What is

In 1939 an experiment now known as the Monster Study was conducted on 22 orphaned children by
Wendell Johnson, a very influential speech pathologist at the University of Iowa. In this experiment
the orphaned children were divided up into two separate groups. One group was given positive speech
therapy, in which they were praised for their fluency. The other group was given negative speech
therapy. They were belittled for every speech imperfection and told that they were stutterers. Many of
the normal speaking children who were subjected to the negative speech therapy experienced negative
psychological effects and some developed lasting speech impediments. The Tuskegee syphilis
experiment was an experiment conducted by the U.S. Public Health Service between 1932 and 197. In
this experiment, the investigators recruited 399 African American share croppers infected with
syphilis. Their purpose was to study the effects of the untreated disease. In 1932 the standard
treatments for syphilis were toxic and it was questionable whether or not they actually worked. The
goal, at the experiment s beginning, was to determine if a patient was better off without such toxic
treatments. The experimenters also hoped to develop effective methods of treating each stage of
syphilis. They also hoped to be able to justify treatment programs for blacks. However, by 1947
penicillin became the new and effective medical

The Main Goal Of An Artist
Similar to all great writers and innovators, the main goal of an artist is to spark a creative perspective
in the audience. Sarah Ruhl s oddly blunt play, Eurydice, was meant to open up our minds and create
an outlook that has never been achieved before. Her intent was to keep us on our toes and read
between the lines in order to find the hidden truths in each line. The simplicity of the script was meant
to be a little strange and dull, but by doing this Ruhl entered a realm of playwriting that has not been
accomplished before. Usually, in the performances we watch we are bombarded with long, complex
sentences that leave the audience confused. The vocabulary used is always either outdated or too
complicated for many people to understand quickly. However, in this place Ruhl took the opposite
approach and chose short and simple sentences, leaving more room for interpretation. By making each
line somewhat awkward and dull, Ruhl engages the audiences attention in order to make sense of the
words. Many factors could have motivated Ruhl to write her play in such fashion. For example, when
I was reading the play I connected her style of writing to artists and poets of the 1960 s, like Bob
Dylan and Jim Morrison, who had such a beautiful yet simple play on words. Her outlandish sentences
probably made no sense to someone with a closed mind, this related directly to how the Dylan and
Morrison were perceived in their time as well. Many people didn t understand or allow

Ideal Gas Formula Lab Report
Abstract: This experiment was performed to determine the molar mass of an unknown using the ideal
gas equation. The measurements needed to determine the molar mass were obtained by heating the
unknown to 90 degrees Celsius while recording the required measures such as the mass, volume, and
temperature as the unknown became a gas. Then the measurements were inserted into the ideal gas
equation PV=nRT. Using the ideal gas formula and measurements determined the molar mass was
found by rearranging the formula leaving the unknown s molar mass of ethylene glycol.
Procedure: In preparation 600mL of water was added to a beaker then an Erlenmeyer flask was placed
inside to determine the water level when the Erlenmeyer flask with unknown was added. This was

Almond Trees In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
Typically, audiences read mystery novels to find out who committed the crime or why the crime was
committed however, in Chronicle of a Death Foretold the audience is aware of both motive and the
killers. In fact, the reader soon discovers that most of the community knows the details surrounding
the crime even before it takes place. The novel follows the narrator as he interrogates a Colombian
village trying to make meaning behind the lack of intervention surrounding the death of Santiago
Nasar, a death which could have been easily prevented. The final conclusion appears in the form of
deep cultural concerns, which Gabriel García Márquez employs as a social commentary to portray the
problems within his own culture. Problems such as the presence ... Show more content on

These passages are significant because they represent the means women must achieve to meet their
community s standards. The use of artificial flowers represents women being forced to fake their
virginity as to maintain their honor. This is especially seen towards the end of the novel, as Angela
Vicario is depicted as, still doing machine embroidery with her friends just as before she had made
cloth tulips and paper birds (García Márquez 93). Even as a rejected wife, Angela continues to make
cloth tulips, therefore demonstrating how desperate the women of this community are to maintain their
honor. As flowers symbolize purity, the fact that the flowers in the novel are artificial is important as it
represents a false representation of purity, thus further developing the idea of a gilded society.
Although the flowers are beautiful and vibrant, they are artificial, portraying the corrupt internal
nature of this Colombian village. Artificial flowers are implemented as a disguise used to display a
false truth. This gives the reader insight into Colombian culture, suggesting that flowers are used to
hide impurities. This translates over to the theme of the novel by developing the idea of a community
that is visually beautiful yet morally corrupt. García Márquez uses flowers to employ a social
commentary by depicting the

Our Little Mary is Dying, Reverend Essays
Gledhill knew that Mary was dying. She seemed sure to die before the night was much older. A man of
the cloth used to death and grieving might not save Mary but he would be able to soften the family s
grief. Death was a daily experience for parsons and Martin had been well provided with opportunities
to serve the dying in the little parish of Holmeside where the Dark Angel was a regular visitor.
Gledhill arrived at the imposing residence breathless. Mistress Joanne Martin, the vicar s wife
answered his frantic knock. She was a large woman with ruddy features, a shade acquired, it is told,
from continually exhorting her husband to common sense. Gledhill s presence on the doorstep

You should know not to speak in that manner about your betters. Get away with you. My husband will

Gledhill repented of his outburst. Softly, he pleaded, Will you at least ask him, please? he clutched his
cap in his hands as though squeezing the life out of it.
The woman also relented of her sudden passion. I ll ask him, she said in a weary voice, but don t
expect anything. He s no mind to put himself out for the feckless!
She went inside, and although she was only gone for twenty seconds it seemed like hours to the
agitated father. Heeding the summons, Reverend Walter Martin thrust his irritated face through the
doorway, swinging the door wide in his anger. He had heard enough of the previous exchange to know
that on his doorstep stood a man speaking ill of his benefactor, and that told the divine that Gledhill
was not among the elect and neither the church nor its clergy had any obligation to minister to him,
whatever misfortune was visited on him or his children. His mind was made up before he spoke to
Gledhill, and so he laid a trap to catch the him out so that he could deny him the benefit of his holy
office and its ministrations with some sense of what passed for rectitude in his mind.

Compare And Contrast The Utility Theory Of Value And The...

Compare and contrast the utility theory of value and the labor theory of value
Many economists tried to explain the source of value of goods and services and find the best way to
measure it. Along with other theories two most popular ones were created. First of them is the labour
theory of value mainly known from the writings of Adam Smith, David Ricardo and Karl Marx.
Despite the fact that their views on value had minor differences, their main idea was that with few
exceptions the quantity of labour employed on commodities determines the rate at which they will
exchange for each other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Probably the most commonly used and basic economic method to determine prices of a commodity is
the supply and demand method. While this method states that both demand and supply are equally
important and it is their intersection that determines the price of a good, both theories of value
emphasize only one function of this model. As the advocates of labour theory cared mostly about the
inputs of production, they mainly focused on the supply side. For example, Ricardo mentioned in his
letter to Malthus it is supply which regulates value and supply is itself controlled by comparative cost
of production. (Ricardo, 1951, 279). In contrast the theory of marginal utility states that it is not the
supply but demand that is the main factor in the supply demand model. This theory emphasizes the
importance of the consumer attitude towards the good and what kind of value does it provide for him.
Its supporters pointed out that despite how much labour is used to provide certain good or service
without demand it will be worthless. The supporters of the utility theory of value such as Jevons and
Menger sometimes ignored supply and based their theories exclusively on the demand and made
assumptions supposing that the rate of supply was given rather than changing (Landreth Colander,
2001). Thus, while labor theory suggest that usually supply determines the value of a good, the theory
of utility emphasize the importance of

Overt Discrimination In The Workplace
Employment discrimination in the United States is unlawful by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of
1964; employers, employer agencies, and labor organizations are prohibited to discriminate against a
person based on race, color, sex, religion, and national origin (Belton, 1978). Although, Title VII
passed half a century ago, sex discrimination is still present in the workplace. Feminist theory attempts
describing and reveling overt and covert sex discrimination during the hiring process, exploring its
possible origins and causes, and reducing or eradicating it from the workplace (Reskin, 2000).
To attempt reducing sex discrimination, the first step is for society to recognize its existence according
to the feminist theory (Reskin, 2000). A business woman is passed on a promotion within her
company, for a man got it, although she has seniority and more experience; and a male nurse is passed
on head of nurses promotion, for a female nurse, according to the hospital, has more nurturing traits,
although he is as friendly, nurturing, and caring, without mentioning, he also has seniority and more
experience. These are examples of overt discrimination since they are obvious, in both situations, by
each person knowing employment qualifications and longevity of the other. Similarly, there are
examples of covert discrimination; however, these are difficult to notice. Both men and women might
be discriminated against if they are applying for an out of role job, meaning, the

The novel Chronicles of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is symbolic of timeless
literature and film. Chronicles of a Death Foretold can be related to the following timeless works:
Julius Caesar a screenplay by William Shakespeare, Pulp Fiction a film by Quentin Tarantino, and The

symbolic of other timeless works, a person must first understand the story of Chronicles of a Death.
The novel Chronicles of a Death Foretold is a story of adultery, murder, and deceit. Santiago Nasar is

Chronicle of a Death Foretold is comparable to the Shakespearean play Julius Caesar, in that both
Santiago Nasar and Julius Caesar were betrayed and killed by someone they deemed one of their

that, Butch Coolidge betrayed Marcellus Wallace, which is like the whole town in which the novel
Chronicles of a Death Foretold takes place, betraying Santiago Nasar by not warning him of the
impending danger that eventually leads to his murder. Chronicles of a Death Foretold is similar to The
Bible in that both Jesus Christ and Santiago Nasar are the sacrificial lamb, both are killed for the
wrongs of other men, without any sort of concrete evidence against them. As well as both being
stabbed in the side by their aggressors, which ultimately leads to their death. The comparisons
between Chronicles of a Death Foretold, Julius Caesar, Pulp Fiction, and The Bible can be made

The sodium potassium pump is a type of active transport because it uses ATP as energy to change the
shape of the channel. Co transport with glucose is a type of active transport but could not be possible
without the indirect help of ATP to pump Na+ ions out to make higher concentration gradient outside
of the cell, so ATP is indirectly involved in co transport. Protein channels are a type of passive
transport because they use facilitated diffusion to pass into cellular membrane which is the process of
a molecule usually a sugar or amino acid is placed on a binding site of that protein which makes the
protein change shape or open its channeling, which allows the molecule to enter the cell otherwise
facilitating the process, no ATP is involved in this process.
3. ATP is the molecule that is used for the energy source for active transport. The enzyme Na+/K+
ATPase is used and uses ATP to function. The molecule transported across the cell membrane moves
from a region of low concentration to a region of high concentration
4. If the sodium channels and pump transport are dysfunctional during a viral infection then a cell
must be forced to use the sodium co transport mechanism because it is the only one that has not been
harmed by the virus. Since both the sodium channels don t work it means there is a low concentration
of Na+ ions in the cell and a high concentration outside of the cell provided by pedialyte, which is
perfect because as Na+ ions easily flow into the cell they

Excessive Pride In Macbeth
In Shakespeare s play Macbeth, Macbeth portrays a person whose pride eventually takes them down.
His pride is encouraged by his success in battle and by three witches who try to manipulate Macbeth
by prophesizing that he will soon be king. Macbeth becomes so power hungry as a result of the
witches prophecy that he kills the current king Duncan for the throne, and kills his close friend
Banquo and the family of Macduff in order to keep the throne after he becomes paranoid that he will
be killed for his mistakes. Macbeth encompasses the elements of a Greek tragedy: hamartia, a fatal
flaw, anagnorisis, a critical discovery made by the character, and catharsis, the realization and
acceptance of the character s fate. These elements are present throughout the play and bring to light
the fact that an excessive amount of pride can lead to a person s downfall. ... Show more content on

A: Horizontal integration was one of the main ways that I succeeded. One of the ways that I used

A: Well, haha, later in my life I started carrying around a bag of dimes, and I gave one away to every
person I met. I loved seeing children get the brand new coin with the happiness on their faces. I
always told them that they should not spend it and put it towards their savings. In my whole life, I

Examples Of Leadership In The Movie Invictus
Leadership at the Movies: Invictus and 5 Leadership Practices
December 20, 2009 by Beverley Simpson
Morgan Freeman and Clint Eastwood have created another very special movie now playing across
North America. Invictus is the story of Nelson Mandela s early days as President of South Africa, and
particularly how he viewed the country s Rugby team, the Springboks, and an upcoming World Cup
event to be held in South Africa, as an opportunity to bring the country together.
The year is 1995. Mandela (Freeman) is in his first term as President. He recognizes the tremendous
challenges facing his government in a land torn apart by apartheid. Racial tensions are at an all time
high, people are struggling with the effects of crippling unemployment, and a new black government

Pienaar is invited to meet the President and arrives at Government House with trepidation, uncertain
of the reason for the meeting. Mandela s personal style, his warmth, the way he treats everyone around
him with great respect and appreciation completely charms Pienaar who leaves with the realization
that something very significant has just happened to him. During their brief but meaningful time
together Mandela has skillfully Inspired a Shared Vision about the importance and meaning of a
Springboks win to South Africa.
The title of the movie Invictus comes from the Latin meaning Unconquered. We are led to believe that
Mandela had a poem written on a scrap of paper in his prison cell while he was incarcerated. In the
movie, Mandela gives the poem to the team captain Pienaar, before the start of the World Cup. At one
point in the story the Springboks are touring Robbin Island and Pienaar spends a quiet few minutes in
Mandela s old cell contemplating the kind of moral courage it would take to spend 27 years there. He

Young People Need To Be Done In The World Today
In the world today, there are many things that are needed to be done in the lives of people and in the
environment. This world needs leaders and people who are willing to stand up for things that need to
be done to make this world better. For instance, there are many young people today who are being
influenced in the wrong way, such as smoking, selling drugs, and sex, that is leading them down the
wrong path for their future. Imagine if a team of leaders are engaging with the young people to help
them enjoy life and leading them down the right path to be very successful in the future. As a result,
this would bring tremendous impact to the world on the youth. Even though, this is not the only thing
that needs to be done in the world today, this

As a Designer
I must say that I was a little less than enthralled about receiving a project, which required me to hunt
down and interrogate an established designer to the point of annoyance. After reading the circulated
example and seeing that, the author Chris Metcalf, started with the same viewpoint. I began to be
swayed to the same train of thought, which had enlightened Chris. A sudden and drastic change in my
thoughts leads me to see that this is, hopefully, my final year as a student designer. The final year, in
which I can ask the questions, delve into, what is commonly believed to be, general knowledge within
the design field.

product is my thoughts and aspirations for the product. These followed through from my thoughts
through my pencil into the final prototype and finally embedded in every one of product units

personal progressions and growing pains as a designer. My thoughts on this topic lead me down a very

How Did The Alliance System Cause Ww1
World War I was one of the bloodiest wars that the world has ever experienced. It was fought in
Europe between Germany, Russia, France, Great Britain, the U.S. and many others. However, what is
unknown is the cause of WWI. So the question remains, what was the reason for WWI. Alliance
systems, militarism, and imperialist were some of the causes that set off the one of the greatest wars in
the history of the world.
Alliance systems were one of the principal causes of WWI. The main reason that this was a world war
was because of the alliances with different countries. For example, Germany had an alliance with

Despite the U.S attempt to remain neutral during WWI, it proved impossible. This meant the U.S. had
to raise the money and forces to wage war. Up until just before the U.S declared war on April 6th,

Sherlock Holmes and John Watson as they try to solve the mystery surrounding the death of Charles

The world has gone digital and people are always looking for the most recent free product to test.
Thus to catch the consumers attention, the product or service must be the simplest product or service

popularity among businesses and obviously users/consumers due to apparent simplicity. Freemium is

expanded his small tribe into the Timurid Dynasty, which lasted from 1370 to 1507. Timur showed
great leadership skills and also had an interest in architecture. The results of his artistic interests are

It was under Timur that Samarkand became one of the most outstanding capitals of the then known
world. It became a thriving city in which markets could be found containing leather, spices, silk, and
precious stones. It was also a city of great architectural monuments where accomplished artisans and
architects came or were brought from around the world to build in this capital. Timur s goal was to
dominate the world and show the dominance of the Timurid dynasty. One of the main motives behind
Timur s efforts was the desire to control the trade routes, which linked East and West. With great
interest in trade, Timur had an ambitious strategy to reactivate the Silk Road and make it the link
between Europe and China. In 1405, at the beginning of his last and greatest campaign, Timur died.
Timur is memorialized for his ability as a nomad chief to transform his tribe into an empire using
Samarkand as the capital to display the Timurid dynastic power.
Timur was not only a great conqueror but also an memorable builder. Whenever he conquered a city
that stood in the way of his army, he would bring back the artisans and materials to embellish his royal
city of Samarkand. When Timur was not working on military efforts he was constantly involved in the
building of these works created in Samarkand. Although Timur built many of his architectural

Many Muslims knew the cause of Utham s death and were angry at Ali, for he had not brought Utham

it uses race as a factor in making admissions decisions because it serves a compelling interest in

Academic Dishonesty At Todays Education System
Academic Dishonesty in Todays Education System
One of the greatest concerns in schools is academic dishonesty. Over time cheating has increased
drastically for many reasons. As a result of this, institutions have had to enforce strict rules and create
honor codes to protect the integrity of their students. Although academic dishonesty has several
negative effects, students continue to cheat for reasons such as: unclear guidelines, pressure, being
overworked, and lack of effort.
Academic dishonesty takes numerous forms. It can vary from plagiarism to professional misconduct.
Due to this, the definition of what academic dishonesty is has become blurred for not only students,
but teachers as well. More often than not, students are not aware that what they are doing qualifies as
cheating. Colleges and universities do a poor job of educating their students and instructors on what
qualifies as cheating. Although most schools have honor codes in place to protect their students
integrity, the guidelines can lack clear boundaries and consistency. These guidelines can also lack how
instructors are to enforce these rules, leaving them without a clear process to follow. This can lead to
many accidental violations of the honor codes. It is important institutions regularly reinforce the
principles of academic dishonesty, so that students are aware and can avoid such situations. This cause
is less apparent than others, but transpires frequently in schools everywhere. Grades rather than

majority population that Europe originally possessed. The doctor at the time were working off their
minds trying to find an anecdote for such brutal disease but has never have found a cure. People at the
time relied on religion in the hope that God would mercy them from this terrible punishment. People
after the back death were able to realize the fact that their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These factors lead into the research question of this essay, how did the Black Death during the middle
ages affect how the usage of medicine changed at the time?
First, I will introduce the Middle Ages society and its functioning. First of all, a Middle Ages society
is one very unique because they have the feudal system introduced to by the Norman conqueror
William in 1066 and he was able to develop the feudal system and became widely used in Europe.
This is one of the key points why there were many kingdoms in the continent of Europe because they
are capable of self supporting and was able to keep the manor system stable and have their own
economic system. Now, the manor system works like this: the king or the ruler is the highest class of
all and owns the land of the entire kingdom and the king gave land and protection for military service,
labor, and loyalty. The nobles, whom was given land by the king and that they own everything one the
land given to them and promises that they will in return offer the king loyalty and service. The vassals
are the ones who were given land by the nobles in exchange for service and loyalty. The knights, who
are usually a member of the noble family who is trained to

Joan Vinckeboon Myth
A 1650 map, created by Joan Vinckeboon, titled Map of California Shown as an Island, echoes the
inaccurate belief of cartographers, whose early maps depicted California as an island, separate from
mainland North America. The Dutch cartographer and engraver Vinckeboon was born into a Flemish
family of artists and started out drawing for his father. About 1640, he started creating maps, and later
was employed by the Dutch West India Company, where he spent roughly three decades creating maps
that aided Dutch mercantile and military shipping. He was associated with the notable map and atlas
publisher Joan Blaeu, and so, Vinckeboon is credited with compiling a series of 200 manuscript maps
that were published in atlases, including Blaeu s Atlas Major. ... Show more content on

But, how did the idea of California as an island came to be? It is said that a Spanish writer, Garci
Rodriguez de Montalvo, in his 1510 romance novel, Las Sergas de Esplandian, describes an island
called California very close to the side of the Terrestrial Paradise; and it is peopled by black women,
without any man among them, for they live in the manner of Amazons. Along the way, early explorers
who ventured up the Gulf of California, mistook the Baja California peninsula for an island. This
misconception continued through the 17th and 18th

Analysis Of Flannery O Connor s Two Story
I am going to mention about Flannery O Connor s two stories in my essay. One of them is The Life
save may be your own and the other is A good Man is Hard to Find . I will talk about Flannery O
Connor s stories summary and my opinions about that. Firstly I am starting with summary of O
Connor s The Life Save may be your own Story starts with an elderly women and her daughter. After
that one of the men come up their road named Mr. Shiftled. He starts smoking and during the
conversations, they decided to make an arrangement. Mr. Shiftled starts to work around the farm in
return of some food and shelter. They continue their talking about marriages. Mrs. Crater asks him that
he are married or not and after that she wants to marry with her daughter but he refused this. Even
though he refused to marry with her at first than he lied for car than he accept to marry ... Show more

The life you save may be your own In my opinion in this story our characters are important. Mr.
Shiftled had a big chance to save his life but he didn t do this. He is selfish that he accept the marriage
but not for Lucynell. His life could be better but it couldn t. I think Mrs. Crater is not a good mother
because she wants a sudden marriage with one she never knew. But the important point of the story is
about the boy and Mr. Shiftled. And the story ends with Shiftled prayerfull shout. So he tries to be
clean in the world but he gets into a rut both genuine and metaphorically meaning. I am continuing
with the second story analysis; I think out main character grandmother is a religious and moral person
and she is little bit selfish. She wants everything to be her own way. She has strong religious believes
like our novelist O Connor. O Connor has a strong believer to Christianity. While grandmother was
dying, she seems like closer to God. Also an angel figure. But we don t find it realistic. Because her
touching is just

Recent Workplace Change
(13a) Identify a recent workplace change. Relate this change to the Stages in the Change Process. I
don t have anything to base this on so I ll make something up. There are four stages in the Change
Process, they are; Denial, Resistance, Exploration and Commitment. These are pretty self explanatory
but I ll walk through them is a made up scenario. Tom had been a great employee and loves his job for
the variety it offers and because it s so close to his home that he doesn t have to deal with much traffic.
One day he comes into the office and is told his group is being relocated to a different plant (building
B), 30 miles away. This will add at least 45 minutes to his commute. At first he doesn t believe this is
really going to happen

Hydraulic Fracture Case Study
In grid based models, the fracture is propagated through a fixed grid. This idea was used in early 2D
hydraulic fracture simulators (Settari 1980) where when the stress normal to the fracture plane
exceeded the tensile strength, the fracture extended into a new grid cell. Therefore, grid based models
were suitable for coupling with reservoir simulators and geomechanics codes (Ji, Settari, and Sullivan
2009). 3D grid based models were extended to deal with multiple fractures, for example, the
MultiFrac Placement Pseudo 3D (MLF P3D) model (Dontsov and Peirce 2015). These models are
very complex being capable of simulating multiple hydraulic fractures simultaneously propagating
from multiple perforation intervals where each perforation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

2015). The Unconventional Fracture Model (UFM), developed by Cipolla et al. (2010), considers the
effect of natural fractures, stress distribution, and influence of the mechanical properties of fracture
morphology (Cipolla et al. 2010). The UFM model can simulate the propagation of asymmetric
fracture networks accounting for fluid flow in the fracture network and elastic deformation of the
fractures. The initial assumptions and governing equations (fluid flow in the fracture network, mass
conservation and fracture deformation) are similar to the conventional P3D model (Weng 2015).
Passey et al. (2010) claimed that there is a large variability in lithology between shale plays and even
within a single shale formation (Passey et al. 2010). Britt and Smith (2009) emphasized the
importance of geomechanics and the state of stress of a shale play for a successful hydraulic fracturing
stimulation (Britt and Smith 2009). In addition, Rickman et al. (2008) stressed that the mechanical
rock properties, such as brittleness and mineralogy, are fundamental in completion designs. While
ductile shale tend to restore any fracture formed, brittle shale often have natural fractures which react
to hydraulic fracturing (Rickman et al. 2008). In general, the Young s Modulus of the shale measured
parallel to the bedding plane is greater than that measured perpendicular to the bedding plane. Sone
and Zoback (2013) explained the role of anisotropy on the

The Effect Of The On The And Value Of Signal Produced From... 6.1 The device which converts the physical stimulus into a more convenient form for the purpose of measuring the stimulus is called a sensor. 6.2 Analog sensor: Analog sensor produces analog signal whose values varies in an analogous manner such as electronic voltage. Discrete sensor: Discrete sensor produces only certain values as output. It is categorized into two types 1.) Binary, which produces on/off signal 2.) Digital, which produces a set of parallel status bits or series of pulses. 6.4 The relationship between the value of physical stimulus and value of signal produced is called the transfer function of the sensor. 6.5 Actuator coverts the controller command signal into change in physical parameter. It is also referred to as transducer as it converts one type of physical quantity into another type. 6.9 Two disadvantages of DC motors are 1.) The commutator and brushes used causes maintenance problems. 2.) The electrical power is alternating current but DC motors needs a rectifier to convert that into direct current. 6.10 Conventional DC and AC motors works by continuous rotation according to the DC or AC power source whereas the stepper motor rotates in step angles where step angle is the rotation in discrete angular displacements. Electrical pulse is generated for each angular step. 6.13 A solenoid is referred to as an actuator which consists of a movable plunger inside stationary wire coil. • 3. Compare And Contrast The Most Dangerous Game And Hunters... In both Richard Connell s The Most Dangerous Game and Tobias Wolff s Hunters in the Snow, seen are divergent interpretations of similar setting descriptions, protagonists, and conflicts. The short story The Most Dangerous Game follows a seemingly emotionless war veteran familiar with hunting named Rainsford who is being chased on an isolated island by a murderer named Zaroff. Conversely in Hunters in the Snow, the story opens with a large man by the name of Tub almost getting run over while standing in the freezing weather; the story continues with Tub being harassed by his fellow hunters. The reader is to assume that Rainsford has killed Zaroff and won the game by the final sentence: He had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided (p. 79). The allusion to death as seen in Hunters in the Snow is within the last three sentences: I m going to the hospital, Kenny said. But he was wrong. They had taken a different turn a long way back (p. 92). Each of these stories also end happily for the protagonists. Tub is enjoying time with Frank, who is now no longer making fun of him, and Rainsford is contempt in Zaroff s bed, his trophy for winning the game. The reason behind the divergent interpretations of both The Most Dangerous Game and Hunters in the Snow are each of the authors points of view. The reader can assume Richard Connell is more keen of a happy ending for the protagonist. Contrarily, the reader can assume Tobias Wolff is a more twisted writer and does not mind leaving the story unhappily open ended. One of these concepts was, The Power Trios which displayed the musical capacities of many guitarists. Most of them were given double duties by playing both the rhythm and lead roles. Just like any other genre of rock and roll the influence of the power trio came from Chicago blue bands and specifically from the Muddy Waters trio. The act of enslaving someone was not legally sanctioned and it violated the purpose of human liberty that the constitution stood for. The right to vote was also not permitted for indigenous people, slaves, and women. After the territorial expansion from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, the U.S. became the leading force of industrial demand for raw materials such as cotton. Unlike the North, southern agriculture had built its economy on the foundation of enslaved labor. Slave trade to the U.S. had ended in 1808, and the northern states had abolished slavery in the 1780s, however the southern states had continued to rely on slave labor. When the Civil War broke out, it was not on the issue of abolishing slavery as a nation, but whether or not the new states that join should be slave free or not. Forbidding slavery in the western states would have halted any economic growth for the southern states who depended on slavery to thrive. It would also shift the balance in political power, arguing that slave ownership was a right protected by the constitution. • 11. The Main Goal Of An Artist Similar to all great writers and innovators, the main goal of an artist is to spark a creative perspective in the audience. Sarah Ruhl s oddly blunt play, Eurydice, was meant to open up our minds and create an outlook that has never been achieved before. Her intent was to keep us on our toes and read between the lines in order to find the hidden truths in each line. The simplicity of the script was meant to be a little strange and dull, but by doing this Ruhl entered a realm of playwriting that has not been accomplished before. Usually, in the performances we watch we are bombarded with long, complex sentences that leave the audience confused. The vocabulary used is always either outdated or too complicated for many people to understand quickly. However, in this place Ruhl took the opposite approach and chose short and simple sentences, leaving more room for interpretation. By making each line somewhat awkward and dull, Ruhl engages the audiences attention in order to make sense of the words. Many factors could have motivated Ruhl to write her play in such fashion. For example, when I was reading the play I connected her style of writing to artists and poets of the 1960 s, like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison, who had such a beautiful yet simple play on words. Her outlandish sentences probably made no sense to someone with a closed mind, this related directly to how the Dylan and Morrison were perceived in their time as well. The measurements needed to determine the molar mass were obtained by heating the unknown to 90 degrees Celsius while recording the required measures such as the mass, volume, and temperature as the unknown became a gas. Then the measurements were inserted into the ideal gas equation PV=nRT. Using the ideal gas formula and measurements determined the molar mass was found by rearranging the formula leaving the unknown s molar mass of ethylene glycol. The use of artificial flowers represents women being forced to fake their virginity as to maintain their honor. Even as a rejected wife, Angela continues to make cloth tulips, therefore demonstrating how desperate the women of this community are to maintain their honor. As flowers symbolize purity, the fact that the flowers in the novel are artificial is important as it represents a false representation of purity, thus further developing the idea of a gilded society. Although the flowers are beautiful and vibrant, they are artificial, portraying the corrupt internal nature of this Colombian village. Artificial flowers are implemented as a disguise used to display a false truth. This gives the reader insight into Colombian culture, suggesting that flowers are used to hide impurities. Compare and contrast the utility theory of value and the labor theory of value Ignė Martutaitytė ISM University of Management and economics Compare and contrast the utility theory of value and the labor theory of value Many economists tried to explain the source of value of goods and services and find the best way to measure it. Along with other theories two most popular ones were created. First of them is the labour theory of value mainly known from the writings of Adam Smith, David Ricardo and Karl Marx. Despite the fact that their views on value had minor differences, their main idea was that with few exceptions the quantity of labour employed on commodities determines the rate at which they will exchange for each other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Probably the most commonly used and basic economic method to determine prices of a commodity is the supply and demand method. While this method states that both demand and supply are equally important and it is their intersection that determines the price of a good, both theories of value emphasize only one function of this model. As the advocates of labour theory cared mostly about the inputs of production, they mainly focused on the supply side. For example, Ricardo mentioned in his letter to Malthus it is supply which regulates value and supply is itself controlled by comparative cost of production. (Ricardo, 1951, 279). In contrast the theory of marginal utility states that it is not the supply but demand that is the main factor in the supply demand model. This theory emphasizes the importance of the consumer attitude towards the good and what kind of value does it provide for him. Its supporters pointed out that despite how much labour is used to provide certain good or service without demand it will be worthless. The supporters of the utility theory of value such as Jevons and Menger sometimes ignored supply and based their theories exclusively on the demand and made assumptions supposing that the rate of supply was given rather than changing (Landreth Colander, 2001). Overt Discrimination In The Workplace Employment discrimination in the United States is unlawful by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; employers, employer agencies, and labor organizations are prohibited to discriminate against a person based on race, color, sex, religion, and national origin (Belton, 1978). Although, Title VII passed half a century ago, sex discrimination is still present in the workplace. Feminist theory attempts describing and reveling overt and covert sex discrimination during the hiring process, exploring its possible origins and causes, and reducing or eradicating it from the workplace (Reskin, 2000). To attempt reducing sex discrimination, the first step is for society to recognize its existence according to the feminist theory (Reskin, 2000). Co transport with glucose is a type of active transport but could not be possible without the indirect help of ATP to pump Na+ ions out to make higher concentration gradient outside of the cell, so ATP is indirectly involved in co transport. Protein channels are a type of passive transport because they use facilitated diffusion to pass into cellular membrane which is the process of a molecule usually a sugar or amino acid is placed on a binding site of that protein which makes the protein change shape or open its channeling, which allows the molecule to enter the cell otherwise facilitating the process, no ATP is involved in this process. 3. Over time cheating has increased drastically for many reasons. As a result of this, institutions have had to enforce strict rules and create honor codes to protect the integrity of their students. Although academic dishonesty has several negative effects, students continue to cheat for reasons such as: unclear guidelines, pressure, being overworked, and lack of effort. Academic dishonesty takes numerous forms. It can vary from plagiarism to professional misconduct. Due to this, the definition of what academic dishonesty is has become blurred for not only students, but teachers as well. Colleges and universities do a poor job of educating their students and instructors on what qualifies as cheating. Although most schools have honor codes in place to protect their students integrity, the guidelines can lack clear boundaries and consistency. These guidelines can also lack how instructors are to enforce these rules, leaving them without a clear process to follow. This can lead to many accidental violations of the honor codes. Now, the manor system works like this: the king or the ruler is the highest class of all and owns the land of the entire kingdom and the king gave land and protection for military service, labor, and loyalty. The nobles, whom was given land by the king and that they own everything one the land given to them and promises that they will in return offer the king loyalty and service. The vassals are the ones who were given land by the nobles in exchange for service and loyalty. The knights, who are usually a member of the noble family who is trained to ... • 43. Joan Vinckeboon Myth A 1650 map, created by Joan Vinckeboon, titled Map of California Shown as an Island, echoes the inaccurate belief of cartographers, whose early maps depicted California as an island, separate from mainland North America. The Dutch cartographer and engraver Vinckeboon was born into a Flemish family of artists and started out drawing for his father. About 1640, he started creating maps, and later was employed by the Dutch West India Company, where he spent roughly three decades creating maps that aided Dutch mercantile and military shipping. He was associated with the notable map and atlas publisher Joan Blaeu, and so, Vinckeboon is credited with compiling a series of 200 manuscript maps that were published in atlases, including Blaeu s Atlas Major. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, how did the idea of California as an island came to be? It is said that a Spanish writer, Garci Rodriguez de Montalvo, in his 1510 romance novel, Las Sergas de Esplandian, describes an island called California very close to the side of the Terrestrial Paradise; and it is peopled by black women, without any man among them, for they live in the manner of Amazons. Along the way, early explorers who ventured up the Gulf of California, mistook the Baja California peninsula for an island. This misconception continued through the 17th and 18th ... • 44. Analysis Of Flannery O Connor s Two Story I am going to mention about Flannery O Connor s two stories in my essay. One of them is The Life save may be your own and the other is A good Man is Hard to Find . I will talk about Flannery O Connor s stories summary and my opinions about that. Firstly I am starting with summary of O Connor s The Life Save may be your own Story starts with an elderly women and her daughter. After that one of the men come up their road named Mr. Shiftled. He starts smoking and during the conversations, they decided to make an arrangement. Mr. Shiftled starts to work around the farm in return of some food and shelter. They continue their talking about marriages. Mrs. Crater asks him that he are married or not and after that she wants to marry with her daughter but he refused this. Even though he refused to marry with her at first than he lied for car than he accept to marry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The life you save may be your own In my opinion in this story our characters are important. Mr. Shiftled had a big chance to save his life but he didn t do this. He is selfish that he accept the marriage but not for Lucynell. His life could be better but it couldn t. I think Mrs. Crater is not a good mother because she wants a sudden marriage with one she never knew. But the important point of the story is about the boy and Mr. Shiftled. And the story ends with Shiftled prayerfull shout. So he tries to be clean in the world but he gets into a rut both genuine and metaphorically meaning. I am continuing with the second story analysis; I think out main character grandmother is a religious and moral person and she is little bit selfish. She wants everything to be her own way. She has strong religious believes like our novelist O Connor. O Connor has a strong believer to Christianity. While grandmother was dying, she seems like closer to God. Also an angel figure. But we don t find it realistic. Because her touching is just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Recent Workplace Change (13a) Identify a recent workplace change. Relate this change to the Stages in the Change Process. I don t have anything to base this on so I ll make something up. There are four stages in the Change Process, they are; Denial, Resistance, Exploration and Commitment. These are pretty self explanatory but I ll walk through them is a made up scenario. Tom had been a great employee and loves his job for the variety it offers and because it s so close to his home that he doesn t have to deal with much traffic. One day he comes into the office and is told his group is being relocated to a different plant (building B), 30 miles away. This will add at least 45 minutes to his commute. At first he doesn t believe this is really going to happen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Hydraulic Fracture Case Study In grid based models, the fracture is propagated through a fixed grid. This idea was used in early 2D hydraulic fracture simulators (Settari 1980) where when the stress normal to the fracture plane exceeded the tensile strength, the fracture extended into a new grid cell. Therefore, grid based models were suitable for coupling with reservoir simulators and geomechanics codes (Ji, Settari, and Sullivan 2009). 3D grid based models were extended to deal with multiple fractures, for example, the MultiFrac Placement Pseudo 3D (MLF P3D) model (Dontsov and Peirce 2015). These models are very complex being capable of simulating multiple hydraulic fractures simultaneously propagating from multiple perforation intervals where each perforation ... (2010), considers the effect of natural fractures, stress distribution, and influence of the mechanical properties of fracture morphology (Cipolla et al. 2010). The UFM model can simulate the propagation of asymmetric fracture networks accounting for fluid flow in the fracture network and elastic deformation of the fractures. The initial assumptions and governing equations (fluid flow in the fracture network, mass conservation and fracture deformation) are similar to the conventional P3D model (Weng 2015). Passey et al. (2010) claimed that there is a large variability in lithology between shale plays and even within a single shale formation (Passey et al. 2010). Britt and Smith (2009) emphasized the importance of geomechanics and the state of stress of a shale play for a successful hydraulic fracturing stimulation (Britt and Smith 2009). In addition, Rickman et al. (2008) stressed that the mechanical rock properties, such as brittleness and mineralogy, are fundamental in completion designs. While ductile shale tend to restore any fracture formed, brittle shale often have natural fractures which react to hydraulic fracturing (Rickman et al. 2008). In general, the Young s Modulus of the shale measured parallel to the bedding plane is greater than that measured perpendicular to the bedding plane.
