love. The author s description of the couple s life gives us a clear picture of their status and financial
struggle. When the author mentions the eight dollar rent for the apartment, the old battered couch, and
the electric bell that does not work he indicates the couple is poor. The mistress of the household is
trying to decide what to buy for her husband, Jim, with the money she has. Even though she is
distraught, she does not give up hope. Many a happy hour she had been planning for something nice

The second film directed by Stacy Peralta that I have scene is Crips and Bloods: Made in America.
Just like his other documentary films, this film takes a historical perspective. I was introduced to this
film last month when we were covering historical documentaries. I believe that I had seen parts of this
documentary but I had never watched the entire film until now. Crips and Bloods: Made in America
was released in 2008 and explores the origins of the Crips and Bloods, two of the most prominent
gangs found all over America. The films run time is about the same as Dogtown and Z Boys, at ninety

This technique might be associated with Peralta s authorship, but I have not seen enough of his films
to determine that. I also noticed the sped up interview sections in this film as well. I believe that the
fancy editing and animations are to meant to keep the viewer interested by presenting the message in a
visually compelling way to hold the audience s attention. In order for the filmmakers to understand
how each group worked on a very personal level, they had to immerse themselves in the scenes
directly. Before beginning production, Peralta spent months hanging in these neighborhoods
WITHOUT a camera, trying to establish relationships and gain peoples trust, as well as looking for
interviewees. This effort is shown when Peralta can get some of these guys to open up and talk about
things that they would not normally talk about. Patience and communication were absolutely critical
in achieving that level of trust. He is not telling the stories from his perspective, because he did not
experience it. Instead, he is giving a platform to these gang members and member of the community to
share their opinions and beliefs. There were also people questioning Peralta s credibility, suggesting
that a white former surfer/skateboarder has no type of relation to the gang culture of South Central La
and that he does not fit to tell the story. People also criticized the film because they think that it is an
exaggeration of what was/is really going on in South Central LA. Another concern was that this film is
one sided and depicts the police, institutions and organizations as the culprits for why our black
communities have suffered thanks to gang violence. The film did not really mention anything about

The foreskin is the loose skin that covers the head of the penis (glans). Keeping the foreskin area clean
can help prevent infection and other conditions. If this area is not cleaned, a creamy substance called
smegma can collect under the foreskin and cause odor and irritation.
The foreskin of an infant or toddler does not need unique hygiene care. You should wash the penis the
same way as any other part of your child s body, making sure you rinse off any soap. Cleaning inside
the foreskin is not necessary for children that young.
RETRACTING THE FORESKIN
Usually, the foreskin will fully separate from the glans by age 5 years, but it may separate as early as
age 2 years or as late as puberty.
When the foreskin has separated from the glans, it can be pulled back (retracted) so that the glans can
be cleaned.
Forcing the foreskin to retract can injure it and cause problems.
Children should be allowed to retract the foreskin on their own when they are ready.

Despite having our eyes wide open, we failed to actually see the world. Susan Neiman s article caught
me completely off guard. Even as someone who grew up outside of the United States, I was taught
educated by my teachers that the Atomic bombs, which exploded in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, were the
most crucial elements that led to the surrender of Japan during World War II. Many US historians also
argued that the bomb not only hasten hastens the end of the war, but also saved almost a million
