Confederate Flag Banning
The Confederate flag means heritage and hate, therefore it should not be banned. That is a topic that a
lot of people would say yes the flag should be banned, but in return a lot of people would also say no
it should not be banned. While there is such a big outbreak of whether the Confederate flag should be
taken down or not, there are some people that believe the flag represents heritage and hate. There are
two sides to this controversy, if the Confederate flag got taken down it would make a lot of Americans
happy but it would also upset and piss off a lot of Americans. The flag has without a doubt become
one of the most talked about controversies in a long time. I don t think the flag should be taken down

While Stars and Bars have long been associated by many with slavery, the latest campaign to remove
Confederate emblems has extended beyond the flag to statues, memorials, parks and even school
mascots. The debate over what symbolizes heritage and what stands for hate has never covered so
much ground, as efforts to remove icons that have been part of the visual and cultural landscape of the
South for decades are a foot at national, state, and local levels. In one Arkansas town, the school board
voted unanimously Tuesday to ban the song Dixie for the next school year and phase out Rebel, the
school s mascot. They are part of our history and not all of our history is dandelions and butterflies.

Kamenetz is trying to make a plan that would change the name of Baltimore s Robert E. Lee Park. A
spokesman for Mayor Stephanie Rawlings, Blake told The Associated Press she supports the name

Democratic and Republican lawmakers in Tennessee have called for a bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest,
a Confederate general and early Ku Klux Klan leader, to be removed from an alcove outside the
Senate chambers. The bust, with the words Confederate States Army engraved on it, has been at the
state Capitol for decades. That bust is part of history, yes that guy may have been racist but that s how
times was when slavery was around. It is a part of history so we can t forget it or we might redo the

Under The Feet Of Jesus By Helena Maria Viramontes
The Power of Ethnicity How do we define power in our society? Do you we look at those with money
or those who acquire many things? According to Michael Parenti the structure of whether or not
someone is defined in the sense of powerful or powerlessness relies on their social class and ethnicity.
In the novella Under the Feet of Jesus by Helena Maria Viramontes, we see the development of power
through the main character Estrella. It is clear that although Estrella s background as a powerless
migrant worker struggling to support her family financially she shifts into a powerful role as an
empowered young latina woman. The novella tells the story of a young migrant worker who is faced
the the responsibility to help care for her family not only financially but in a manner of leadership as
well. Throughout the story the character of Estrella changes drastically from a timid outcast to an
outspoken leader. In the beginning Estrella is portrayed as a quiet young woman who is defined as an
outsider. When looking at the character of Estrella she is characterized in the category as powerless.
One reason that we can attribute Estrella s state of power is her socio economic circumstances.
Coming from a family of five, Estrella assumes the role as the oldest daughter as well as second
mother due to her father s recent abandonment on the family. It is because of this abandonment that
Estrella resents her mother s older boyfriend Perfecto, who in return has gotten her mother pregnant.

The King Of Masks Gender Roles
Wu Tianming depicts life during the early days of the 1930 s in China by focusing on the three main
characters, Wang Bian Lian, Gou Wa (Doggie), and Master Liang in his film, The King of Masks
(1996). Each of the three characters Wang, who laments for having no male heir to hand down his face
changing opera; Gou Wa, who wants to be his true grandchild; and Liang who has a thoughtful
understanding of such relationship between Wang and Gou Wa plays a unique role together, conveying
a powerful message of true love which enables to overcome hardships during life. The true love
between Wang and Gou Wa lead them to accept each other and overcome their hardships of gender
discrimination, which were originated from the strong tradition of patriarchism in Chinese society. In
Wu Tianming s film, The King of Masks (1996), the use of two ideologies, Confucianism and
Buddhism, embraces the joys and sorrows of common Chinese people by capturing the issue of
gender discrimination in traditional Chinese culture, and the true love between the old man, Wang, and
the young girl, Gou Wa. The thematic role of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Allusions In Araby Chapter 7
Chapter 7 ...or the Bible In Araby, the beginning of the story starts off with a description of the house
in which the boy lives in which includes the mentioning of an apple tree alone in the middle of the
yard. The apple tree is a direct allusion to the apple tree in the Genesis story of Adam and Eve where
they lived in a garden and could not eat from the apple tree. When the narrator says, I bore my chalice
safely through a throng of foes , the chalice represents a holy cup and him carrying it through a throng
off foes symbolizes him overcoming a challenge. Substitution atonement is when someone sacrifices
themselves so that others do not have to sacrifice themselves or suffer, like how Jesus sacrificed
himself to save all of us from our sins. The narrator sacrifices his time to go to the bazaar for a girl
that he has never even talked to and probably doesn t even like him. Yet, he sacrifices his feelings and
time anyway just for her. When the narrator sees the woman in the bazaar with the two men he realizes
his mistake in going there and feels betrayed by himself that he could let himself think that going there
for the girl would change anything or make her like him. Chapter 8 Hanseldee and Greteldum Fairy
tales often have the same components and elements to them as other types of literature and even
movies. Alice in Wonderland is about a girl who looses her way and must go on a journey to find
herself again. She has to go through many difficulties to find her way

The case of Toyota recall
By Daniel Opoku
Abstract Purpose: the main purpose of this study is to find out about the recalls of Toyota vehicles
which lead to the death of some innocent lives. The recall was due to unintended acceleration. Toyota
ultimately recalled millions of its cars for floor mat issues, brake problems and sticky gas pedals.
Methodology: Data was collected online, by the help of some selected search engines. Information
was collected from Toyota s national website as well as other private sites. Findings/results: Most
organization should seek for customers or consumer s satisfaction rather than targeting of making high
profit. Arrogance and choosing to ignore quality warnings when failures begin to happen is ... Show

The gas pedals was too long and there is a little space between it and the floor mat. In all, there was a
poorly designed floor mat Toyota began a massive recall last year worldwide to fix the problems that
were attributed to faulty accelerators, floor mats getting stuck in gas pedals and brake problems in
Prius hybrids. More than 8.5 million Toyota cars and trucks have been recalled. Drivers have
complained of cars careering out of control at 65mph while overtaking, and negotiating roundabouts
so fast that it felt like their car was on two wheels. A mechanical fault, caused by a combination of
wear and cold and wet weather, Toyota believes, means that the accelerator pedal sometimes sticks
down. Around 10,000 Toyota owners have so far contacted a hotline to air concerns.
Toyota was overwhelmed by massive product recalls and damage to its reputation after questions
over the safety of its cars and allegations that the company did not act quickly enough once problems
had been identified. The problem commenced when one duty police officer and his family back in
August 2009 after their car, a Toyota Lexus, unexpectedly accelerated, crashed into another vehicle,
tumbled over an embankment and burst into flames lead to the death of the man. Initial company
reports identified that the car may have been fitted with the wrong floor mats, which could have
slipped and entrapped the accelerator pedal. The problems began to increase for Toyota.

Braxton Bragg Research Paper
Braxton Bragg was born on March 22, 1817 in North Carolina (History.com). Bragg did not talk about
his parents but what we do know is that his dad was a contractor and his mom was arrested for killing
a freed slave. Though his parents were not the best, his brother was a politician who helped him get
into the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1833 (History.com). He flourished at the
academy and graduated one year later, he finished fifth out of fifty soldiers. Bragg was affiliated with
the military for the majority of his life, and served in two major wars before the civil war. He served in
the Second Seminole War and the Mexican American War. After returning from the Mexican
American War he was deemed a war hero. He later, in 1849 married Eliza Brooks Ellis who was a
very wealthy lady from Louisiana (Civil War Trust). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the Civil War began, he was promoted to major general in the militia. Later on in the war, he
was moved to brigadier general in the Confederate Army and was had power of troops who were

with some of best trained troops in the Confederate Army. Next, Bragg was promoted to major general
and was sent to serve alongside of Albert Sidney Johnston in the war s Western Theater. Bragg s first
actual combat of the Civil War came in April of 1862 at the Battle of Shiloh in Tennessee. Bragg and
the confederates lost this battle, but he was glorified for executing an assault on a Union position
called the Hornets Nest. His partner in fighting, Albert Sidney Johnston died in the fighting on the
same day that Bragg was promoted to full general. After General P.G.T Beauregard s failure to take
control of Corinth in May or 1862, Bragg was promoted to command the Army of Mississippi, which

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Community Service or...
The advantages and disadvantages of Community service or social service as modes of criminal
punishment.
Community service or social service is a mode of punishment provide by the law which the offender
can escape imprisonment or fines. Community service acts as an alternative to the harsh criminal
punishment. Generally, community service is handed down by a judge or magistrate to the first timer
offender or teenage offender. This punishment can also be handed down in the case of minor offences
for example traffic violations, petty theft, and other nonviolent offenses. The offender is required to
perform unpaid work or other activity in the community under the direction of a probation officer or
supervisor. Among the community work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, only £3,000 is needed to send a person to one year of community rehabilitation order. On
average, sending a person to prison is 12 times higher than sending a person to community service.
Prisons around the world are facing the same problem which is overcrowding prison. More prisoners
means more foods and more security is needed. The increase in the numbers of prisoners subsequently
increases the cost for running the prison. So, based on the facts, community service is a great way to
cut government cost on punishing offenders as it provide for the less expensive approach with similar
effect and helps in reducing the overcrowding problem in prison. Consequently, the money saved can
be used for development thus improve the living of the country.
Secondly, community service is healthier than imprisonment. This is because, community service
offer help to the offenders to rehabilitate themselves more effectively than in prison. This is mainly
because; by community service the offenders are able to give something back to the community as
prove that they have change. By doing so, the offenders will have small risk of reoffending neither in
the number of crimes nor the seriousness of the crimes. If the offender is stuck in the 6×8 feet cell, the
offender will have limited resources to help him rehabilitate.
Furthermore, putting a first time offender with minor offence in the same room with big time criminal

Revolutionary War Quiz The Revolution War started because the British king, King George III, was
treating the colonies very poor, making unjust laws, making the colonists pay taxes for the French and
Indian war, sending over soldiers to in force the laws, making the colonists house the British soldiers
and the soldiers ate and drank all the colonists had. After awhile of this abuse the colonists had enough
of it and they started to revolt against the British by tarring and feathering the tax collectors, making
mob, throwing tea overboard British ships, Boston Tea Party, and boycotting British goods. Once the
King heard of this he sent more troops and closed down the Boston Harbor and told the colonists they

Get Geico Get Happy
Get Geico, Get Happy! Geico is a car insurance company which has used several advertising
techniques that address many of the fifteen basic appeals, described by Jib Fowles, to gain potential
customers (Fowles 1). For instance, the need for affiliation has been catered to through advertising
depicting Geico as the best there is. People tend to affiliate themselves with top companies. Emotional
appeal is catered to primarily; the premise being to invoke the idea that getting Geico insurance will
make you happy. A series of Happier Than television advertisements were aired (Geico). Each episode

In terms of social networking, the commercial appeals to the human need to be affiliated with friends
and good times on a social level (Fowles 5). The entire scene is set within a home where there is a
cozy fire burning in the hearth. As mentioned, two men and two women are present, and they are
engaged in a game of charades when, while Revere is pondering how to enact his queue, the church
bells ring out. Looking out his window, he sees the signal light in the church steeple and immediately
speed dials a contact from his cell phone to inform them that, hey, they re coming and yeah British,
later. Completing the call, he quickly turns back to his guests, apologizing for the interruption and
returning to the game; much to the delight of the other man and women. In terms of patriotic
affiliation, history has shown that Paul Revere was in fact a key part in gaining U.S. independence. He
belonged to something bigger than himself and fulfilled his role as a patriot. The audience is led to
believe they can share that same feeling of being affiliated with something larger than themselves that
gives them pride, such as being a patriot, by switching to Geico. This commercial also appeals to the
need for guidance (Fowles 6). People listened when Paul Revere made his midnight ride shouting that
the British were coming. It is implied now too that people will still listen to him. He might not be
telling the audience that the

Ethics in Engineering Essay
Ethics is the moral behavior that guides our actions; it motivates us in our personal behavior and is
relevant in a business setting as well. Many organizations have set forth a set of guidelines known as a
Code of Ethics . The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, being one of these organizations,
has set forth their code as a requirement for students and engineer members to adhere to. Heading
towards a career in electrical engineering I choose this organization to elaborate on for my ethics
project. In the paragraphs that follow you will be introduced to the Code of Ethics as outlined by
IEEE, and what it means to its members. A comprehensive summarization will be provided for each
guideline along with examples of how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This being the case it is important for the engineer to consider the application to which the design will
be used as well as how and to what extent it will be handled. In the instance that risks and dangers are
present they must immediately be brought to the attention of the consumer, and if effected as a whole,
the public. The second point outlines the regulation of avoiding real and perceived conflicts of interest
and to bring the forth to all parties involved. Conflicts of interest are more prevalent in our society
than many people believe. Many times conflicts of interest are most common in what is known as self
dealing . Self dealing is the act in which an engineer operates in a fashion to which he benefits on both
sides of the deal. For example if John, co owner of a local corporation, uses his position as a part time
government official to secure job contracts for himself, this would be a conflict of interest related to
self dealing and deemed a violation of ethics by the IEEE. Engineers are also required to use honesty
and not over exaggerate claims or estimates when the data is available to make an informed decision.
When making statements regarding an estimate members are required to accurately measure the cost
and time in which it will take to produce a design. Misleading development times and costs not only
results in damages of a financial sense but also in a loss of quality of the product or design. To prevent

Exodus 2:1 10 The birth of Moses
Moses was born to two Levites. His mother hid him for three months as the pharaoh was killing all the
Hebrew s children. When she couldn t hid him she made a basket, put him in it, and floated it down
the river. The pharaoh s daughter found the baby and took pity on it. She nurtured the baby and took it

Exodus 3:1 4:17 God speaks to Moses through the burning bush
Moses was herding is Father in law s flock and took it past the wilderness. A bush was set alight and
was not being consumed. Moses went to look at this bush and God called out to him. Moses took of
his sandals and hid his face from God as he was scared of him. God tells Moses he must go into Egypt
and free the Israelite slaves. God proceeds to tell Moses to tell the Israelites he was sent by The Lord,
the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
Moses question the Lord on how he would prove that he was indeed sent by the Lord. God told Moses
to throw his staff on the ground, the staff turned into a snake. He then told Moses to pick up the snake
by the tail, the snake turned back into a staff. God then gave Moses two more ways to prove he really
was sent by God. One of them was to put his hand into his cloak and take it out again. Once he did this
his hand turn leprous and when he put it back into and out of his cloak it went back to normal. The
other proof was to pour a bucket of Nile river water into

Divorce Effects On Children
As I have already stated in my assignment 1, I would like to study the effects of divorce on children. I
would be building up a research design based on the core philosophy of such societal problems that
would not only identify the issues related with divorce, but possible measures that could alleviate such
impacts. My research methodology will focus on identifying the issues holistically that might be
detrimental to the psychological or physiological health of children.
My research conclusions would help to identify the social stigma of breakups between parents and the
sufferings their children have to go through. I further state that my research design would be both

However the qualitative variables like low education acumen, less IQ, aggressive behaviour, and

assign dummy variables to these psychological aspects that will be helpful not only to quantify the
comparisons but will help to formulate the regression equations.
Regression equations provide a cause and effect relationship between the criterion variable with the
predictor variables. We will keep divorce as the criterion variable and if the children belong to divorce

Bama Faustina Essay
Bama Faustina is the most distinguished Dalit fiction writer in Tamil, and one of the most acclaimed
of all Dalit women writers. She was born in Madras in 1958. Her autobiographical novel Karukku was
the first Tamil Dalit text on the Christian Dalit community, through which she rose to fame. After the
success of Karukku, Bama wrote Sangati and Kusumbukkaran.
In India, there is a huge campus of religion situated in the society. There are four major caste divisions
in India, Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra. The lowest caste people came under the Shudra s.
They are regarded as Dalits. These people are suppressed, humiliated, exploited, discriminated and

And when I examined the lives of our women, I understood the reason. From the moment they wake
up, they set to work both in their homes and in the fields. At home they are pestered by their husbands
and children, in the fileds there is back breaking work besides the harassment of the landlord. When
they come home in the evening, there is no time even to draw breath. And once they have collected
water and firewood, cooked a kanji and fed their hungry husband and children, even then they cant go
to bed in peace and sleep until dawn. Night after night they must give in to their husbands pleasure.
Even if a woman s body is wracked with pain, the husband is bothered only with his own satisfaction.
Women are overwhelmed and crushed by their own disgust, boredom and exhaustion, because of all
this. The stronger ones somehow manage to survive all this. The ones who don t have the mental
strength are totally oppressed; they succumb to mental ill health and act as if they are possessed by

The Applicability Of The Ib Risk Assessment Tool In Iran...
ICS is the first longitudinal population based study, primarily designed to develop a CVD risk
assessment tool (PARS) in Iran and EMR. ICS is being organized in three geographic areas with a
large urban and rural population [14]. We developed the PARS as a new CVD risk prediction tool in
Iran, in preparation for a major change in national policy by identifying the patients at high risk of
CVD.
Although Framingham prediction algorithms have been comprehensively used in the United States
and other countries [29 31], they consist of white middleclass individuals; therefore, there are
concerns about the generalization of their findings to other populations and societies particularly in
low and middle income countries[14]. The limitations for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By calculating total CV risk, including the 10 year risk of fatal or non fatal myocardial infarction,
unstable angina, sudden cardiac death, and fatal or non fatal stroke, we anticipate to provide a better
risk estimate. Accordingly, WHO and current stress practice guidelines prefer to consider the total risk
in making decisions about treatment [1, 26, 41, 42].
Based on a large Iranian representative population, we created a PARS charts. The PARS charts are
user friendly and color coded. Furthermore, using a 6 color gradient from brown as the highest risk to
green as the lowest probability of CVD event help not only the Physicians but also the individuals to
see their position on the chart [43].
It is known that diabetes is positively associated with the CVD risk. One of the limitations of the
Framingham risk score is the small number of diabetic people in a cohort of 5573 individuals (4%)
and also the diabetes definition was based on a random blood glucose concentration 9 mmol/L or the
use of anti glycemic treatment. Hence, the accuracy of the Framingham risk score for CV risk
assessment in diabetic patients has been addressed in previous studies [44]. The most widely used risk
score in the European countries, SCORE [6], also lacks the risk prediction power of diabetes because

The United States And The World Empire Between 1890 And 1945
Throughout the development of one of the greatest countries in the world, the he United States had

As the United States started to build their own empire, the war fighting and peacemaking that marked

The Crime Rate Of Atlanta Essay
Did you know that someone is murdered every 60 seconds in the united states?
Atlanta was recently ranked October 2012 as the sixth most dangerous city in the United States among
cities of more than 200,000 residents. According to Forbes the city has a violent crime rate of 1,433
per 100,000 and has experienced a violent crime rate rise of six percent in 2011 and is currently
increasing. Crime in Atlanta, Georgia is above the national median and has been a major problem for
the city since the middle 20th century. Atlanta has been known for high crime rates, particularly
property crime and homicides. Much of the city s crime, however, is centralized in most of its western
neighborhoods and scattered neighborhoods adjacent to Hartsfield Jackson International Airport.
These include Grove Park, Center Hill, and Bankhead, some of the most crime infested neighborhoods
of Atlanta. This is alarming because Morehouse college is literally less then ten minutes from all of
these places. In just these three areas alone homicide is rated 20.5, forcible rape is rated 33.2, robbery

English Language By Chinua Ngugi
II: In this section Ngugi speaks about how the English an imperialistic language that belongs to
Europe dominates the local languages in the post colonial Africa. He asks to the reader that how did
people become to be so feeble towards the claims of their languages on them and so aggressive in
their claims on other languages, particularly the languages of their colonization. It is worth mentioning
the words spoken by Chinua Achebe, is it right that a man should abandon his mother language for
some one else s? It looks like a dreadful betrayal and produces a guilty feeling . Ngugi refers to the
1962 African writer s conference at Makerere University College in Kampala, Uganda: A Conference
of African Writers of English Expression. Excluding writers who wrote in African tongues, it
proceeded to discuss questions of what African literature is or could be, while accepting that it must be
in English. This cruel poisonous paradox is summed up this way: The bullet was the means of the
physical subjugation and language was the means of the spiritual subjugation (9). ... Show more

Death Penalty Dbq
Throughout history, many governments were implementing the death penalty unfairly because of the
unjust rulers, such as the Romans and the Ottomans. For example, they were executed people who
were demanding for their rights. Furthermore, the penalty ways were very ugly and inhumane. To be
more precise, Romans used the saw to cut up the accused into two halves and this execution style was
the favorite of the Roman emperor Caligula. Also, Ottomans were using the stake in the death penalty
to make the victim suffer as long as possible before he died. However, with the passage of time and
the progress of nations, these types of executions faded. Recently, international organizations such as

In some countries, executions are not only for criminal reasons, but also because of religious and
racial bias. Racial discrimination began in terms of using people with black skin as slaves and servants
for the rich. The racist practice against black Americans is an important example that explains how
blacks were persecuted. This policy began in the United States after the American Civil War and
emerged the racist legislation that supports the control of whites in the late nineteenth century. This
situation made blacks angry for the loss of their rights and tough punishments up to execution because
of racial grounds. Blacks began to resist this policy before World War II. Then, black American
leaders have appeared like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X and called for changing the racial
laws. Martin Luther King was one of the most famous advocates of the abolition of the death penalty
and he said that death penalty is against the best rule of new criminology. In her article, The Death
Penalty: What Would Dr. King Do? (2012) Moye commends that Dr. King utilized the ethic of
peacefulness to social change. At its embodiment was a profound appreciation for the human poise in
all individuals, including the oppressor and the culprit. Martin Luther King means that every human
has the right to live and no one can take this right except God. On the other hand, racism has directly
affected the civil rights of blacks and indirectly on their lives. For example, judgments for certain
crimes against blacks are strict compared with whites and it may reach to penalty. Not only blacks
around the world are suffering from racism, but also people in occupied countries such as Palestine.
This is another type of using the violence and executions for religious reasons. Since 1967, Jews
occupied Palestine and declared that the land is theirs then they

The Purpose Of Prison Reform
What is the purpose of prison? It is believed that prison serves the purpose of punishing criminals for
their wrongdoing and then releasing them back into society, ready to live a better life. Although in
today s times, it is more about punishment and not so much about rehabilitation. It is clear that prison
is a pretty bad place, and that prison reform programs are way more effective at rehabilitation.
Most U.S. prisons today are more focused on punishment than rehabilitation. After all, a prison in
America is not a pleasant place to be. The environment of most prisons is tough and violent which can
lead inmates to develop aggressive behaviors. A study called the Stanford Prison Experiment showed
that prisoners without any mental illness can end up developing one during their time in prison
(Benson). In addition, every year, around 217,000 prisoners in America are raped (McElwee). The
conditions inside prisons can be damaging to inmates in all sorts of ways. ... Show more content on

Once a prisoner is discharged, they will find it difficult to transition back into society, and they find
themselves back at where they started. For example, having a criminal record will make it harder to
find a job, since businesses are less likely to hire people who have one, so a majority of former
prisoners will likely turn back to crime in order to make a living. This is one of the main reasons why
the U.S. has one of the largest rearrest rates in the world, as 67.8% of offenders are rearrested after
being released from prison within three years (NIJ). Sometimes, prison can even do the opposite of
rehabilitation. It is clear that prison is not an effective solution and that something needs to be

gods bits of wood Essay
Sembene Ousmane s novel, Gods Bits of Wood, gives a highly detailed story of the railway strike of
1947 48 in French West Africa. It contains conflicts of political, emotional and moral nature.
Ultimately, Sembene s novel is one of empowerment. It brings to light the tension between colonial
officials and the African community among the railway men as well as the struggle of the African
community to free itself from being subjected to colonial power. Frederick Cooper s article, Our
Strike: Equality, Anticolonial politics and the 1947 48 Railway Strike in French West Africa, helps
reveal the strike s true meaning and agenda by analyzing the conflicts present in Sembene s novel. In
fact, it paints a very different picture of the railway ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, when Bakayoko meets with French delegates in regards the demands of the strike he
says, That is all I had to say, and I have said it in French so that he would understand me, although I
think this meeting should have been conducted in Ouolof, since that is our language (Sembene 177).
Not only does this statement show Bakayoko s leadership in affairs of the strike, but it reveals
sentiments of the African community that their language needs to be recognized. At that same
meeting, when having to choose the number of delegates to represent the railway men Bakayoko
states, There is no necessity for that. They didn t set any limit on the number of representatives they
would have, we ll all go over together (Sembene 178). Again, Bakayoko is expressing the need for the
railway men to be recognized and that since the French leaders have no limit on the number of
delegates, it is only fair that the railway men not be limited either.
Fa Keita is also looked upon as a man of great importance. His arrest by French militiamen reinforces
this idea. From the beginning of the novel the people constantly look to Fa Keita for direction and

disrespect, but they realize who he is, and change their attitude greatly. They look upon him for
reassurance that everything with the strike is going well, and that their efforts

The Effect Of Sexual Assault On College Campuses

College is where young women and men beginning one of the most biggest and exciting adventures.
The students typically move out and begin to experience adulthood for the first time and often the first
time one can begin to make their own decisions. This also a very stressful times for students as they
must deal with the stress of their school work, internships, living on their own, and in some cases deal
with the effects of sexual assault. Sexual assault on college campuses has been a problem for many
years; however, in the past several years, this issue has come to light. In this paper I will discuss

The likelihood of universities doing this is small because a university does not want to single
themselves out for their problems of sexual assault, even though it is a problem for nearly all college
campuses. Colleges are also hesitant to admit there is a problem in fear of losing perspective students
and losing money from donors. College must become safe places where victims feel they are able to
report their assault and be protected while justice is served. When a student reports a sexual assault the
school must take the report seriously. Not taking the assault seriously, could lead to more sexual
assaults on campus from the same assaulter. According to Saul, of the New York Times, a study of
1,642 men at two different colleges was published in JAMA Pediatrics and found that while a larger
number of men admitted to behaviors that constituted rape, a smaller percentage of them, closer to 25
percent, were repeat offenders (Saul). In the case of one of Ms. Weckhorst s abuser, he went on to rape
another student in October of 2015. Not punishing the assaulter only leads to more sexual assaults.
Though many colleges have been outspoken about the problem of sexual assault, though their actions
typically do not support their words, they have begun to discusses ways to prevent sexual assault, such
as programs against sexual violence. According to Katherine Silbaugh her article, REACTIVE TO

Purpose Of Selecting A Program
The purpose of selecting this program is to deepen my studies in sustainability in detailed. Nowadays,
sustainability is a topic which research is still maturing, and designs are relatively new. The intent of
this study emphasises in ruralisation of current urban cities by creating an environment that would
allow the residents to benefit from its geographical and urban function stressing the creation of one
system. Cities in the US and around the world have developed significantly that much of the land has
transformed into Metro areas. In addition to 3 million people or greater living in these cities, people
have exhausted their options and had no alternative but to rely on high rise architecture. Many
architects and landscape architects, focus their careers trying to create sustainable cities but are still
limited by the maximum space they can utilise. Others emphasise the incorporation of biophilic
mediums to solve the problem, then again, these are very restricted to the site. As land in some
countries are finite and are reaching their maximum capacities, this will potentially become a problem
that must be solved. As innovative developments in these cities cease, buildings are stacked, rooms
miniaturised, and even expand to restricting areas to accommodate as many people as possible.
Families of four or more members settle in places where room sizes parallel those of an individual
living quarters in low density areas. These areas create an urban sprawl development that

A Life-Changing Experience With Raynaud s Illness
A Life Changing Experience About a year and a half ago during the fall of my junior year of high

illness has changed how I think, what I do in my spare time, how I feel both emotionally and
physically, and has given me a more optimistic outlook on life. Any plans I had for my future were
interrupted and thrown right out the window. Everything changed for me and not in a good way. I first
noticed the symptoms around fall of 2011 when I had pain in my knees while playing tennis. I didn t
think much of it and just assumed it was because I wasn t wearing sneakers. I told my mom and so we

The Concept Of Government Is The Self-Actualized Society
In our days, people all around the world more or less suffer from hunger, diseases, poverty, inequality,
crime, wars and etc., and government of different countries are not there to change things, but instead
to keep things as they are. There is a solution in understanding the nature of this suffering and finding
the alternative government system, which will solve the puzzle. Such system was introduced by
Jacque Fresco under the Venus Project. I am arguing that the best form of government is the self
actualized society . It is the scientific and technologically organized society where the role for
government would be surpassed by engineered systems. The self actualized society will replace
money based economies with a resource based world economy. There would be interdisciplinary
teams of knowledgeable people in different fields accompanied by cybernated systems to monitor all
aspects of society to provide real time information supporting decision making for the wellbeing of all
people and the protection of the environment. There are two reasons: people will have healthier, safer,
and flourishing environment, and the society will have more advanced and rapidly developing science.
Many current politicians say that the environment is not important and so, there is no need in self
actualized society. The planet has been here long before us and it will be after, it changes with time
and with human impact, but it will heal itself without our help.
Also, many people say that

Characteristics Of A Stable Angina
Stable Angina
What is stable angina?
Stable angina is another term for chest pain that occurs with activity and improves with rest or a
medication called nitroglycerine. This is an extremely common condition that typically affects older
individuals with high blood pressure, diabetes, and elevated cholesterol. People with angina are at
increased risk for cardiovascular conditions such as heart attack, peripheral vascular disease, and
stroke. As opposed to stable angina, unstable angina is an emergency that can lead to heart attack very

Other symptoms that may occur during angina attacks include:
Difficulty breathing
Low energy
Exercise intolerance
Profuse sweating
Nausea or vomiting
There are no specific signs on physical examination that can diagnose angina.
How is angina diagnosed?
Angina is suspected based on symptoms and the diagnosis is typically confirmed with a stress test.
There are various types of stress tests. Your doctor may have you exercise on a treadmill while
monitoring your symptoms, blood pressure, heart rate, and electrocardiogram (stress EKG). If you
have an abnormal EKG at baseline, they might not be able to interpret the EKG during exercise, so
they may perform other tests that provide similar information a stress echocardiogram or nuclear
stress test.
During a stress echocardiogram, your doctor will look at an ultrasound of your heart before and after
exercise. Similarly, during a nuclear stress test, you doctor will evaluate your heart before and after
exercise using nuclear imaging. If your heart pumps abnormally with exercise, this can suggest that it
is not receiving enough blood during physical activity.
Sometimes, individuals might not be able to use a treadmill due to severe arthritis in the hips or knees,
or because they are paraplegic or unable to walk. During these circumstances, your doctor can
administer an intravenous medication (eg, adenosine, dobutamine) to mimic physical activity. In other
words, your doctor will

Foxes are known for their cleverness and their ability to overcome obstacles in creative ways. Quick,
agile, and focused, outsmarting others comes easily to them. The similarities between these intelligent
creatures and Mrs. Amy Fox goes far deeper than their name. Amy Fox is an English instructor, her
class is not one to scoff at and anyone looking for and easy A, should look the other directions. For,
any grammatical error, any inconsistencies in an argument, Fox will weed them out. With sharp eyes
and numerous college degrees at her back, nothing gets past her. To pass her class one must also
become a fox; clever enough to overcome large workloads without becoming overwhelmed, quick
enough to spot errors in their own papers before turning them in, and focused enough to maintain
presence in the classroom despite other things that maybe going on. No, Fox s class is not easy, it
forces students to overcome bad habits, but also provides the correct tools to do so, if the student is
willing to do the work. Mrs. Fox s English 101 class is challenging because it calls for time
managements skills, demands attention to details, and requires flexibility.

The Importance Of Servant Leadership As A Pastor
The Importance of Servant Leadership in a Pastor Jay Marlowe When it comes to looking at the
qualifications for a pastor, the question that comes to my mind is How important is servant leadership
is to him? Aside from the educational preparation and pastoral internship training, having a sincere,
humble heart is essential. The Bible tells us in Mark 10:42 45(ESV) 42 And Jesus called them to him
and said to them, You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and
their great ones exercise authority over them. 43 But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would
be great among you must be your servant, [a] 44 and whoever would be first among you must be
slave[b] of all. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a
ransom for many. One can have all of the necessary scholastic credentials, but if there isn t a sincere
heart for serving man, it is all in vain. A pastor can fall to his flesh if he does not keep a meek, truthful
relationship with God. He can easily fall to the power of the position. Having power and authority
over individuals can certainly lead to having a prideful attitude. The enemy attacks the church in all
manners; a pastor is not immune to the temptations that come with being in authority. A pastor can
have a person that that he is accountable to can support the pastor through difficult times. Philippians

The Massacre at Tiananmen Square
The protests in China during 1989 were for a good cause, but were ended in the worst possible way.
Mao Zedong brought Communism into china with violence and even after his death, with a new
leader, the violence continued. The Chinese Government made a huge mistake by using force to end a
peaceful protest. After the 1912 revolution, two groups began to compete for the leadership of China.
One group, the Nationalists, was led by Chiang Kai shek while Mao Zedong was the head of the
second group, the Communists. At first, these two groups worked together to unify China. But in the
1920s, Chiang broke with the Communists and declared war on them. (Civil War: Chiang vs. Mao).

Protestors were enraged with the soldiers who were shooting at anyone they deemed a threat. In the
hours before the invasion of the square, make shift weaponry was being made for the protestors who
were going to put up a fight to get what they wanted, democracy. Molotov cocktails, sticks, rocks, and

What exactly is profiling is what many people wonder and they don t always get the right definition.
What they usually think first is that it is racial profiling and it is bad, we should not do it, but that s
only one type of profiling and it is not necessarily bad in all cases. The Merriam Webster dictionary
defines it as, the act of or process of learning information about someone based on what you already
know. Under the narrow definition, racial profiling occurs when a police officer stops, questions,
arrests, and/or searches someone solely on the basis of the person s race or ethnicity. Critics typically
use this definition when condemning racial profiling, as do law enforcement agencies when denying
the existence of racial profiling (Cleary). Most people think that the profiling is a bad thing because of
controversial topics like NYC s stop and frisk policy and from what the liberal news puts out. But in
most cases profiling is good for communities and helps to catch criminals before they can do harm.
The main difference between what people think and what profiling is comes down to two words
disparity and discrimination.

sets them far apart. Disparity is

Corruption in Corporate America
Corruption in Corporate America As said in every economics class, the reason every business goes
into business is to make money. The same can be said in criminal cases involving businesses. In the
majority of cases, executives and people highly ranked in the company tend to bend the numbers in
the financial/accounting areas of the business or corporation. They do not do this for fun, but rather to
make money. Something needs to be done before corporations really get out of hand. Thankfully, after
the Enron Corporation scandal, the government has recently started to crack down on corporations and
pay more attention to what they are doing. This is due to the extent of what Enron Corp did for so
long. From approximately 1996 to 2001, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel that the people who commit these crimes are just overwhelmingly greedy and cannot control
themselves. If they were able to build up the company, they obviously are intelligent minds and more
than likely already have a significant amount of money. Something needs to be done, especially when
so many people are affected. Millions of people lost so much money and too many lost their life
savings just because the people at the top of Enron were greedy. It seems as though the government is
taking small steps in the right direction. However, I feel that more needs to be done especially because
some of these companies are funding and supplying potential terrorists. That is just outrageous and
shows the extent of what people will do to make money. This is difficult to control and monitor but
more steps need to be made. Hopefully the politicians and others of the future will recognize this ever
growing problem and solve it for the companies to

  • 2. Confederate Flag Banning The Confederate flag means heritage and hate, therefore it should not be banned. That is a topic that a lot of people would say yes the flag should be banned, but in return a lot of people would also say no it should not be banned. While there is such a big outbreak of whether the Confederate flag should be taken down or not, there are some people that believe the flag represents heritage and hate. There are two sides to this controversy, if the Confederate flag got taken down it would make a lot of Americans happy but it would also upset and piss off a lot of Americans. The flag has without a doubt become one of the most talked about controversies in a long time. I don t think the flag should be taken down because it is part of our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Stars and Bars have long been associated by many with slavery, the latest campaign to remove Confederate emblems has extended beyond the flag to statues, memorials, parks and even school mascots. The debate over what symbolizes heritage and what stands for hate has never covered so much ground, as efforts to remove icons that have been part of the visual and cultural landscape of the South for decades are a foot at national, state, and local levels. In one Arkansas town, the school board voted unanimously Tuesday to ban the song Dixie for the next school year and phase out Rebel, the school s mascot. They are part of our history and not all of our history is dandelions and butterflies. Mick Mulvaney, representative for South Carolina. In Maryland, Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz is trying to make a plan that would change the name of Baltimore s Robert E. Lee Park. A spokesman for Mayor Stephanie Rawlings, Blake told The Associated Press she supports the name change and is willing to work with the county to find an appropriate alternative name. Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers in Tennessee have called for a bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Confederate general and early Ku Klux Klan leader, to be removed from an alcove outside the Senate chambers. The bust, with the words Confederate States Army engraved on it, has been at the state Capitol for decades. That bust is part of history, yes that guy may have been racist but that s how times was when slavery was around. • 3. Under The Feet Of Jesus By Helena Maria Viramontes The Power of Ethnicity How do we define power in our society? Do you we look at those with money or those who acquire many things? According to Michael Parenti the structure of whether or not someone is defined in the sense of powerful or powerlessness relies on their social class and ethnicity. In the novella Under the Feet of Jesus by Helena Maria Viramontes, we see the development of power through the main character Estrella. It is clear that although Estrella s background as a powerless migrant worker struggling to support her family financially she shifts into a powerful role as an empowered young latina woman. The novella tells the story of a young migrant worker who is faced the the responsibility to help care for her family not only financially but in a manner of leadership as well. Throughout the story the character of Estrella changes drastically from a timid outcast to an outspoken leader. In the beginning Estrella is portrayed as a quiet young woman who is defined as an outsider. When looking at the character of Estrella she is characterized in the category as powerless. One reason that we can attribute Estrella s state of power is her socio economic circumstances. Coming from a family of five, Estrella assumes the role as the oldest daughter as well as second mother due to her father s recent abandonment on the family. It is because of this abandonment that Estrella resents her mother s older boyfriend Perfecto, who in return has gotten her mother pregnant. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The King Of Masks Gender Roles Wu Tianming depicts life during the early days of the 1930 s in China by focusing on the three main characters, Wang Bian Lian, Gou Wa (Doggie), and Master Liang in his film, The King of Masks (1996). Each of the three characters Wang, who laments for having no male heir to hand down his face changing opera; Gou Wa, who wants to be his true grandchild; and Liang who has a thoughtful understanding of such relationship between Wang and Gou Wa plays a unique role together, conveying a powerful message of true love which enables to overcome hardships during life. The true love between Wang and Gou Wa lead them to accept each other and overcome their hardships of gender discrimination, which were originated from the strong tradition of patriarchism in Chinese society. • 5. Allusions In Araby Chapter 7 Chapter 7 ...or the Bible In Araby, the beginning of the story starts off with a description of the house in which the boy lives in which includes the mentioning of an apple tree alone in the middle of the yard. The apple tree is a direct allusion to the apple tree in the Genesis story of Adam and Eve where they lived in a garden and could not eat from the apple tree. When the narrator says, I bore my chalice safely through a throng of foes , the chalice represents a holy cup and him carrying it through a throng off foes symbolizes him overcoming a challenge. Substitution atonement is when someone sacrifices themselves so that others do not have to sacrifice themselves or suffer, like how Jesus sacrificed himself to save all of us from our sins. The narrator sacrifices his time to go to the bazaar for a girl that he has never even talked to and probably doesn t even like him. Yet, he sacrifices his feelings and time anyway just for her. When the narrator sees the woman in the bazaar with the two men he realizes his mistake in going there and feels betrayed by himself that he could let himself think that going there for the girl would change anything or make her like him. Chapter 8 Hanseldee and Greteldum Fairy tales often have the same components and elements to them as other types of literature and even movies. In all, there was a poorly designed floor mat Toyota began a massive recall last year worldwide to fix the problems that were attributed to faulty accelerators, floor mats getting stuck in gas pedals and brake problems in Prius hybrids. More than 8.5 million Toyota cars and trucks have been recalled. Drivers have complained of cars careering out of control at 65mph while overtaking, and negotiating roundabouts so fast that it felt like their car was on two wheels. A mechanical fault, caused by a combination of wear and cold and wet weather, Toyota believes, means that the accelerator pedal sometimes sticks down. Around 10,000 Toyota owners have so far contacted a hotline to air concerns. Toyota was overwhelmed by massive product recalls and damage to its reputation after questions over the safety of its cars and allegations that the company did not act quickly enough once problems had been identified. The problem commenced when one duty police officer and his family back in August 2009 after their car, a Toyota Lexus, unexpectedly accelerated, crashed into another vehicle, tumbled over an embankment and burst into flames lead to the death of the man. Initial company reports identified that the car may have been fitted with the wrong floor mats, which could have slipped and entrapped the accelerator pedal. The problems began to increase for Toyota. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example if John, co owner of a local corporation, uses his position as a part time government official to secure job contracts for himself, this would be a conflict of interest related to self dealing and deemed a violation of ethics by the IEEE. Engineers are also required to use honesty and not over exaggerate claims or estimates when the data is available to make an informed decision. When making statements regarding an estimate members are required to accurately measure the cost and time in which it will take to produce a design. Misleading development times and costs not only results in damages of a financial sense but also in a loss of quality of the product or design. To prevent such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

God proceeds to tell Moses to tell the Israelites he was sent by The Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Moses question the Lord on how he would prove that he was indeed sent by the Lord. God told Moses to throw his staff on the ground, the staff turned into a snake. He then told Moses to pick up the snake by the tail, the snake turned back into a staff. God then gave Moses two more ways to prove he really was sent by God. Racial discrimination began in terms of using people with black skin as slaves and servants for the rich. The racist practice against black Americans is an important example that explains how blacks were persecuted. This policy began in the United States after the American Civil War and emerged the racist legislation that supports the control of whites in the late nineteenth century. This situation made blacks angry for the loss of their rights and tough punishments up to execution because of racial grounds. Blacks began to resist this policy before World War II. Then, black American leaders have appeared like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X and called for changing the racial laws. Martin Luther King was one of the most famous advocates of the abolition of the death penalty and he said that death penalty is against the best rule of new criminology. • 33. The Importance Of Servant Leadership As A Pastor The Importance of Servant Leadership in a Pastor Jay Marlowe When it comes to looking at the qualifications for a pastor, the question that comes to my mind is How important is servant leadership is to him? Aside from the educational preparation and pastoral internship training, having a sincere, humble heart is essential. The Bible tells us in Mark 10:42 45(ESV) 42 And Jesus called them to him and said to them, You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 43 But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, [a] 44 and whoever would be first among you must be slave[b] of all. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. One can have all of the necessary scholastic credentials, but if there isn t a sincere heart for serving man, it is all in vain. A pastor can fall to his flesh if he does not keep a meek, truthful relationship with God. He can easily fall to the power of the position. Having power and authority over individuals can certainly lead to having a prideful attitude. The enemy attacks the church in all manners; a pastor is not immune to the temptations that come with being in authority. A pastor can have a person that that he is accountable to can support the pastor through difficult times. Philippians 2:25 29 30 (KJV) 25 Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you ... Mao Zedong brought Communism into china with violence and even after his death, with a new leader, the violence continued. The Chinese Government made a huge mistake by using force to end a peaceful protest. After the 1912 revolution, two groups began to compete for the leadership of China. One group, the Nationalists, was led by Chiang Kai shek while Mao Zedong was the head of the second group, the Communists. At first, these two groups worked together to unify China. • 36. Profiling is a Necessary Means for Discovering and... Many studies have been made in the field of criminology, concluding that profiling is a necessary means for discovering and apprehending criminals. There are many different types of profiling and many people think of profiling differently; however, all types of profiling does work and is proven to help stop crime. This paper will explore the following: profiling and different forms of it, the closely related stop and frisk policy, different cities that have proven statistics that profiling does work, how airports are now profiling, and different serial killers that have been apprehended due to work from profilers. 9/11 led to a re evaluation of racial profiling as a means of combating crime, and terrorism. What exactly is profiling is what many people wonder and they don t always get the right definition. What they usually think first is that it is racial profiling and it is bad, we should not do it, but that s only one type of profiling and it is not necessarily bad in all cases. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines it as, the act of or process of learning information about someone based on what you already know. Under the narrow definition, racial profiling occurs when a police officer stops, questions, arrests, and/or searches someone solely on the basis of the person s race or ethnicity. Critics typically use this definition when condemning racial profiling, as do law enforcement agencies when denying the existence of racial profiling (Cleary). Most people think that the profiling is a bad thing because of controversial topics like NYC s stop and frisk policy and from what the liberal news puts out. But in most cases profiling is good for communities and helps to catch criminals before they can do harm. The main difference between what people think and what profiling is comes down to two words disparity and discrimination. Disparity and discrimination are closely related but there is one major difference between them that sets them far apart. Disparity is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Corruption in Corporate America Corruption in Corporate America As said in every economics class, the reason every business goes into business is to make money. The same can be said in criminal cases involving businesses. In the majority of cases, executives and people highly ranked in the company tend to bend the numbers in the financial/accounting areas of the business or corporation. They do not do this for fun, but rather to make money. Something needs to be done before corporations really get out of hand. Thankfully, after the Enron Corporation scandal, the government has recently started to crack down on corporations and pay more attention to what they are doing. This is due to the extent of what Enron Corp did for so long. From approximately 1996 to 2001, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If they were able to build up the company, they obviously are intelligent minds and more than likely already have a significant amount of money. Something needs to be done, especially when so many people are affected. Millions of people lost so much money and too many lost their life savings just because the people at the top of Enron were greedy. It seems as though the government is taking small steps in the right direction. However, I feel that more needs to be done especially because some of these companies are funding and supplying potential terrorists. That is just outrageous and shows the extent of what people will do to make money. This is difficult to control and monitor but more steps need to be made. Hopefully the politicians and others of the future will recognize this ever growing problem and solve it for the companies to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
