The Role of Eve in Paradise Lost
The importance Milton attached to Eve s role in Paradise Lost and in the Garden of Eden is now
recognised and acknowledged. (Green, 1996) Milton s treatment of Adam and Eve s relationship
is complex. Sometimes referring to them in ways that indicate equality, (ibid) sometimes stressing
their separateness as individuals (ibid) and other times they are complementary halves of a whole.
(ibid) Taking on the view that many support; that Milton intended Eve to seem completely
inferior to Adam, we can examine Eves role in the fall. Traditionally, readers and critics have
responded to Eves actions with compassion and concern. (Revard, 1973) Two critics who
particularly react this way are Dennis Burden and Fresdon Bowes. (ibid) A.J.A Waldock has

If Adam had forced Eve to stay with him, he would have Eve s without free choice. This would
have tarnished the liberty of Eden. (ibid) Adam has tried to make clear to Eve what her
responsibilities are and what her place is in the garden. He has also warned her of the dangers in
the garden. Eve knows also of the dangers of Satan by overhearing Raphael talking about them as
in a shady nook I stood behind. (Levi, 1996) Eve is clearly at a disadvantage in encountering
Satan in an intellectual debate; however Milton does lead the reader to question the role of
intelligence in the poem. It wasn t the intellectually able angles the politically astute Beelzebub
and the rhetorically expert Belial (Revard, 1973 p.76) who unmasked Satan in Book V. Many
feel that Adam is guilty of negligence; however, others feel that he is merely an ineffective
leader. (Revard, 1973) Stella p.Revard goes as far as saying that God is in fact to blame. Since
refusing Eve the permission to leave would break the rules of free will then God is blameworthy
for having left uncompelled the wills of human beings in the first place and having permitted
Satan the opportunity to try them. (Revard, 1973 p.74) Is it only Milton s portrayal of Eve that is
the cause of so much controversy? In examining two different examples of the portrayal of Eve,
the reader can decide if it was Milton who created the controversy surrounding Eve, or if the

Good Night And Good Luck Analysis
Legendary CBS News broadcaster Edward R. Murrow is a journalist who made history with
exposing Senator Joseph R. McCarthy. Although the story will go down in history, with the help
of the movie Good Night, and Good Luck directed by George Clooney, how much is known of
the historically accurate story. While some could argue that George Clooney and producer, Grant
Heslov, made the screenplay naive, others disagree. Many may even state that it was well
researched and followed the original weekly CBS story, See It Now, accurately. Both are easily
arguable.
In the movie, Good Night, and Good Luck, it is portrayed that many people or news companies
were too afraid of McCarthy to stand up to him. Although by the time the show, See It Now, aired
on the 9th of March, 1954, many people wanted to remove McCarthy from chairman. Many
Republicans joined Democrats in publicly denouncing him, including Richard Nixon. Many would
state that mainstream news was also very anti McCarthy, including Time Magazine and Chicago
Tribune.
Another red flag that may make people question the accurateness of this film is the changing in
minor details, including the beginning of this movie when the date of the RTDNA Convention in
Chicago is displayed on October 25th , 1985 when the Convention was held on October 12th,
1958 . Also, Murrow s keynote address is introduced by a man who talks about the issues that
Murrow reported on . This includes exploitation of migrant workers, while this is true, Murrow

What Is My Favorite Vacation Place Essay
Tawas
Sometimes getting away from your home for a vacation is much needed for the mind and soul.
For me, my favorite vacation place is the beautiful tourist city of Tawas, Michigan. My first
exciting visit to Tawas was when I was ten years old. Since then, it has been an annual family
trip. My favorite place in the city of Tawas is my Aunt Debbie and Uncle Danny s cabin that
overlooks Lake Huron. They kindly allow us to stay there each summer. The creaking floors and
squeaky swing on the lakefront gives it special qualities to show the years of love families have
experienced there. I have many treasured memories at this special location. It bring smells, feelings,
thoughts, and emotions that are just what I need to refresh my mind and soul. Over the years, Tawas
has become my favorite summer location because of the beautiful sites of the lake, the soothing
sounds of the water, the old cabin, and the fun memories.
My favorite memory at Tawas is the long jet ski ride to a small island just off the tip of the bay. It
has a very old small white lighthouse and a sandy beach. Other treasured memories in Tawas
include nightly fires where my family sits around in lawn chairs and makes S mores with ... Show

This feeling of peace, quiet, and nature is exactly what I enjoy about this special vacation place.
I have quickly grown attached to the traditional old brown log cabin in the past eight years. I like
the traditional build of old logs, a stone fireplace, and two big windows overlooking the lake. As
I enter the cabin I can hear the creaking of the old original hardwood floor. It catches my eye with
the scratches and dents that give it character. My nose is tickled by the sweet smell of an old
musty cabin and campfire. I can feel the unique stress that the wooden walls have experienced over
the years. My mom says, If these walls could speak image what the stories they could

Conservatism, By Moises Kaufman And The Tectonic Theater...
Conservatism, at its Best. Merriam Webster defines change as to become different . It happens
in different ways and for various reasons. It can alter people s perceptions of the world and even
define who they are, like the Emancipation Proclamation redefined the lives of millions of African
Americans. However, there are those who oppose it to preserve a detestable status quo. The play
The Laramie Project by Moises Kaufman and the Tectonic Theater Project introduces some of
those people who live in the quiet town of Laramie, Wyoming. It has been 18 years since the brutal
murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay resident of Laramie. After that tragedy, has anything changed?
One answer comes from Laramie resident Rebecca Hilliker who states in The... Show more content

The ideologies that are the foundations of the US, like Christianity, are so ingrained in people s
beliefs that they can t imagine others not following the same ideals and thus they respond harshly
against all transgressions. As the TFP Student Action organization writes, gay marriage should be
opposed because It Violates Natural Law (TFP Student Action). The fact that many Americans are
so narrow minded that they want to deny the happiness of others goes against the American values
of living freely and our society needs to solve this problem before more Americans suffer.
This prejudice evoked me to discover what people are doing to fight the discrimination associated
with homosexuality. I was optimistic, at first, about finding people who want to change societal
prejudice directed at homosexuals, since there had to be some souls who wished to change their
community for the better. But, in my search, I found relatively few such people; one of them is
Jonas Slonaker, a gay resident of Laramie.
Slonaker is a pivotal character in the movement for change within the conservative structure of
Laramie. His goal is to make Laramie and Wyoming come out of the Matthew Shepard case with
something lasting, like legislation. As he says, You know, it s been a year since Matthew Shepard
died, and they haven t passed shit in Wyoming... nobody anywhere, has passed any kind of laws
(Kaufman 97). Slonaker champions anti discrimination

Interactionism In College
Upon graduating high school, many students are faced with the decision to continue their education
at a higher learning institution or approach the work force: more often than not, especially in today
s society, these students are pushed to attend college, in the hopes of creating better job
opportunities and a wholesome lifestyle. When many of these students do approach college, it is
clear that the workload is much more strenuous and tedious than what they have previously dealt
with, often wondering how they will accomplish seemingly never ending schoolwork. A fraction of

Laura Koller s Spring Wedding
Spring Wedding
In my senior project, Laura Koller s wedding meant so much for me to be able to be a part of
putting my creativity into her wedding. I want Laura to have the best wedding with the most
amazing flowers she choose and to not worry about having the flowers not being the way she wants
them to be. When Laura s wedding caught my attention, I felt honor to be able to be part in the
next step in someone s lifetime. In this project, I ll talk about the history of weddings, the flowers
that were used, the creation and the packing up.
The flowers or herbs were used in historical weddings since the beginning of time to show a way
of love and well wishes to everyone. The first use of wedding flowers were the ancient Greeks.
The flowers or plants were used to make a crown for the bride to wear and was a gift of nature.
The bridesmaids would have floral decorations which were garlands, bridal bouquets and
boutonnieres. Mostly the bridesmaids were to make a poesies, to make, for each guest to wear as a
symbol of saying thanks. Over time, the flowers and their meanings stayed the same but the herbs
lost their place in modern North American weddings. Some of the cultures and religions have
intertwine herbs with flowers to celebrate the marriage with a gift of nature. Leading up to and
during the Middle Ages, weddings were considered as a family and community affairs. The only
main thing about a wedding was for both partners to state a consent to take one of them as a spouse.

Franklin and Theodore Roosevelt Essay
Franklin and Theodore Roosevelt
Throughout the ages there have been many great leaders. These leaders are powerful in many
ways, with a strong control over the people, and a place in history. But who would have guessed
that two cousins would be some of the greatest government figures ever? Franklin Delano Roosevelt
and Theodore Roosevelt, both American presidents, both American Heroes. Without these
dignitaries, the American advancement into the present day would be incomplete and/or
impossible. They gave people hope through hard times and the spirit to protect their country and

Roosevelt felt strongly about trade throughout the world. In 1904 the Isthmus of Panama was first

the creation of the Panama Canal. The U.S. military and other volunteers did most of the work.
But because of Yellow Fever and Malaria , few workers returned. In 1914 the Canal Zone was

As Roosevelt s second term was coming to an end, he picked William Howard Taft as his
successor. Taft preached his ideas to the public, criticizing Roosevelt in his speeches.
Roosevelt, hearing about his partner s insulting speeches, broke from the Republican s and formed

under the Democratic Party was campaigning.

FROM Employee, Invoice
WHERE (DepartmentID =2);
The asterisk next to employees indicates that all the information under the employee table was used
to generate the search. In this query information was pulled from the employee and invoice tables.
The WHERE function more specifically states the department which can be changed and it would
generate new information. The query currently only shows employee commission information for
employees who work in department two (see attachment).
If the finance department wanted to find the total compensation paid to each employee in the same
month as the first query a slightly different query would be run to generate that information. The
first code simply pulled the information and did not include and computation because the finance
department only requested to be able to determine as in pull up the record for employee s
commission paid. The second code will include computation which will divide the yearly salary by
twelve months then multiples the commission rate by the total amount of product sold and lastly
add those two numbers together to get the total compensation for that month. Unfortunately the
coding that I am using is not generating a proper result. However, it should look something like this:

E.)Face saving behavior/pg.113: techniques used to salvage a performance or interaction that is

major display of face saving behavior that is almost sickening to watch. We see this behavior
come out in the tapes from the court case in which the owner of W. R. Grace was being questioned
on the events that had transpired in the years in which the plant in Libby was active. The
prosecutors begin to question him routinely on what he knew about everything. They were trying to
figure out if he knew what he was doing to his workers in exposing them to such conditions, or if he
genuinely knew nothing about the harmful effects of exposure to asbestos. This is where we see the
face saving behavior come out. Throughout being questioned he was very short and almost caught
off guard with most of the question being asked. He begins playing dumb and attempting to make
it look like he knew nothing about the harmful effects in an attempt to save face on the issue to
avoid being held accountable for his actions in the company. He was asked whether or not he knew
anything about the harmful effects of asbestos exposure to which he said he knew nothing about.

The Flea By John Donne
Marriage is a social construct that technically has no meaning other than what the person engaging
in marriage puts to it. Yet, the idea of marriage is a concept that copious amounts of people hold
dear. It wormed its way into the importance of society early, and even dictates the movement in a
relationship, most notably that of intimacy. In John Donne s poem The Flea, extended metaphor is
used to explain that the act of intimacy does not matter whether it is performed before or after
marriage. Also, explicit imagery is noticeable through the poem and outlines the underlying taboo
topic being discussed. Another important detail, the flea within the poem is not only used as a
comparison in the extended metaphor, but also as a symbol of innocence. In The Flea, Donne
plainly spites the acceptance of traditional values by using extended metaphor, gross imagery, and
symbolism.
The Flea is commonly interpreted as indecent, and there is a reason behind the plain and indecent
language in the poem. The poem s central theme lies around the subject of premarital sex. It
challenges the traditional view that couples should only consummate after marriage. The
challenge is inadequately hidden on purpose through the tawdry situation that is a young man
trying to lie with a young lady. That being said, premarital sex is not a big deal in today s times, but
it was an extremely scandalous topic in the 1600s. If the readers in 1600s are considered, it d be an

The Correlation Between Sex Tourism And Prostitution
Tourism has been a major contributor to the economic, social and human development of Morocco.
Its social and economic impacts such as the reduction of unemployment and poverty are clearly
evident in today s society. With a growth of 6.0% in its tourism compared to the world average
growth rate of 1.6%, the success of the Moroccan tourism sector is without any doubts astonishing.
In fact, tourism has become one of the most important sectors for Morocco. It is said that the reasons
behind this success are mainly due to the development and implementation of new policies under
the reign of the monarch, King Mohammed IV, and the development of certain industries such as
agriculture and textile. In this paper, however, I argue that there are other factors behind Morocco s
rapid development in the tourism industry that are ignored due to social and religious reasons. In
order to demonstrate this point, I will examine the predominance of sex tourism and prostitution in
Morocco and how they play a major role in the development and success of tourism. Finally, I
contend that the tourism sector is not sustainable as its social and economic impacts have already
started affecting negatively the social life of the Moroccan population. Unless an alternative of
sustainable tourism is put in place, this growth in the tourism industry will disappear leading to
unprecedented and unwanted consequences. Before examining the sex tourism in Morocco, let us
first look at its starting point. The

Essay about Cults and Their Leaders
Cults and Their Leaders
For many years, cult leaders always had a psychological hold on their followers minds. Whether
it was to kill other people or to kill themselves, they did it without question. Some cult leaders used
fear, violence and guilt as a means of a weapon to control the minds of their followers. Other cult
leaders used persuasive and spiritual speeches that made their followers believe they were doing
good and fulfilling God s plan. Because cult leaders are powerful through psychological offenses,
the people that belong to their cults are brainwashed into doing things they wouldn t normally do in
their right state of mind.

The Merriam Webster online dictionary defines cult as: a religion regarded as unorthodox or
spurious; also: its body of adherents. Indeed, any religion involving unconditional worship and
unquestioning obedience to God could be labeled as a cult (using the derogatory suggestion of
the word), since such a religion would have that high level of dependency, obedience, and
unwavering compliance ascribed to cults by definition. Many mainstream religions still require
their members to believe in God unquestioningly, to have faith that he is good and that what he
does is good, to consider one s own wants and needs as unimportant while accepting the will of
God as paramount. All of these are certainly characteristics commonly attributed to cults, but while
it would not be unreasonable to apply this definition of a cult to any dogmatic religion that
requires strict compliance with God s word and will as a condition of membership, the notion of
applying the word cult to Christianity, Islam, Judaism, or any other major world religion today is
considered absurd. There are those who make this very claim: that those who worship God fit the
classic depiction of cult members in their dogmatism, unswerving

My Reflection On Practicum
As I write this reflection on Thanksgiving break it shows me that I am thankful for this opportunity
to complete this practicum. Throughout this experience, it has put me out of my comfort zone. I
learned at a summer conference that if you are comfortable in what you are doing you are not
learning. Well, I have been extremely uncomfortable all while learning a plethora of new knowledge
. This practicum has let me experience new committees and helped me in finding my voice. The
tool created by John Driscoll: What? So What? and Now What? was a great model to use
throughout the practicum. It guided me and helped me put all of the work into an organized format
from which I can help myself learn even more.
Throughout this experience, I have asked myself what? many of times. Whether it be What is our
why? or What were we thinking? . What I got out of this experience I believe has changed my
career path for the better. I have been involved with three different committees that I had on my
practicum contract. These committees have opened my eyes to what a good committee looks like
and to what a committee that is in need of some help looks like. What I found most surprising is
how a committee starts and then no one wants to take the lead. I believe that is what leads to the
downfall of a committee or program. If no one believes or wants to push for the program, then
why should others. I have seen a change in my colleagues in the TLA and myself start to stand up
and assist with these issues.
In my time devoted to this practicum, I have learned how to use my voice and speak up for what
I think or would like to see. I have also used my voice to reach out to parents and our school staff.
For our AdvancED visit in January, a group and I lead a discussion on our values and beliefs as a
school. In three consecutive sessions we were able to produce a list of three commitments that we
believe our staff and students can live out day to day.
So, what was the point of completing this practicum which I thought I would not? I have gained
peoples respect, peoples trust, and most importantly, I have shown my abilities to my colleagues. I
believe that they now have an understanding of who I am and what I am capable of. If

Satire In Lysistrata
Satire, Sex and the Role of Women in Ancient Greece
Aristophanes comedy, Lysistrata, uses satire to show the issue of war between ancient Greek
cities and uses women and sex as a weapon to explain the futility of war. Aristophanes was a
playwright, landowner and political representative in Athens born around 450 BCE. He is
considered by many to be like Father of Ancient Comedy. All of Aristophanes comedies show
commentary on the contemporary society and the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta.
The comedy that I will be analyzing today, Lysistrata, was produced in 411 BCE and involves a
sex strike to end the war. In this essay, I will show how Lysistrata reflects and satirizes the
dominance of males in Athenian society, show how the convention of cross dressing conveys the
message of male dominance and speculate how an Athenian society might have responded to men
dressed as women outsmarting men. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An Athenian women s place revolved primarily around their home and family. In one of the
episodes, we see Kinesias yelling at his wife Myrrhine You know you ve let our house, your
things and mine, become an utter mess... it doesn t bother you that the hens are pulling your
woolens apart? (Episode Lines 76, 78). Athenian women rarely had a social life and were only
allowed out into the public sphere of activity for ritual. Within Lysistrata, we see satire used by
other women characters to explain their cultural norms. When Kinesias tries to use the image of
their sad baby to keep Myrrhine from leaving without having sex, Myrrhine humorously cries out
How momentous is motherhood! I ve got no choice but to go down there. (Episode Lines 63

The Importance Of Environment On The Environment
The environment has a major influence in the personal health of a child and many of them are not
aware of how it affects them drastically. Various health conditions are either caused or aggravated
by environmental factors. One of the major health causing hazards is air pollution which can results
in asthma, cancer, and other severe respiratory conditions of which, many of these children are
naГЇve about how to protect themselves from these diseases. Students from the grades four through
sixth need to be educated about the health hazards resulting from air pollutionand learn practices at
school that will help lessen air pollutants for their overall health and for future generations as well.
Applications such as riding your bike and walking to school, and creating your own garden, will
help promote good health for children as it will help improve air quality for them.
Education
Educating students on environmental hazard, specifically air pollution, at a young age can help
prevent premature respiratory conditions and so, teachers must find creative ways for students to
understand how much air quality can affect them. To begin one of these activities, teachers will
provide background information about common issues that are affecting the environment both
globally and locally then provide an activity that will get students engaged as to understanding why
and how these issues came to be. Students in grades four through six should be able to understand
the characteristics of organisms and their environment, and so teachers will focus on the latter of
this topic. One of the lessons would be teaching what is environmentalism, by stating that,
everything that we do in our daily lives affects this interrelationship [ecology] as the earth is
always changing. Today people are changing the earth faster than any forces of nature. We have
created many problems like landfills, oil spills, and nuclear disasters (Norwood 1996). Once
understanding the facts, students will record a weeks worth of visible pollution by spreading a thin
layer of Vaseline on one side of several 3 by 5 index cards then placing the cards in a variety of
places where they will be undisturbed for one week. At the end of the week collect all the

The effect of advertising on sales
Advertising can be considered independent of other selling efforts, advertising always tries to
effect sales constantly where as machines fore example may not be considered independent ,
because it has relies on other terms for example what is the use of machine without raw material or
what is the use of machine without labor or both together. (G.M.Brown AND F.A.Macina, Jan1940,

Advertising may be the reason why the consumer purchased the product and by time he may
reach to a certain degree of loyalty the repeat purchase the buyer may be considered to be the
result of the earlier advertising so this shows the long term effect of advertising this was agreed

The advertisement that I chose is very popular among celebrities is called Weight Watchers. A
large percentage of celebrities such as Jennifer Hudson and Jessica Simpson have lost tremendous
amount a weight from using this program. The program allows individuals to eat anything on

Different Styles And Approaches Supervisors May Demonstrate
ABOVE THE FIRST LINE SUPERVISOR LEVEL
There are many different styles and approaches supervisors may demonstrate. Each style has unique
qualities and characteristics that set them apart from the others. When a supervisor begins moving
up through the ranks they can change, sometimes for the better and sometimes not. I have worked
for some excellent supervisors and some that are not so excellent. Whether a supervisor practices
the contingency theory or they are behavior based in their actions, a great supervisor in law
enforcement comes down to two things, having your subordinates back and being trustworthy.
Lieutenant Mannion
During my career with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, I had the honor of being assigned twice to
the Executive Protection Unit (EPU), Governor s Residence Detail for the Ohio State Highway
Patrol. During my second assignment at the Governor s Residence there was an election and a
change in Governor s. Governor Ted Strickland took officer and with the change came a new
supervisor. Lieutenant Joe Mannion had been assigned to protect Governor Strickland throughout
the campaign and after Strickland won the election made the move to Columbus. I had known
Mannion for many years prior to working for him and had always liked him, but after he was
promoted to Lieutenant he changed.
Fred Fiedler s Contingency Model is a prime example of why Lieutenant Mannion was such an
unsuccessful leader. The level of trust and likeability was reduced to nothing.

in an Academic Environment plays a very important part of our lives. Ethics is the discipline

One aspect of Ethics in Academics is academic dishonesty, or cheating. Studies have shown that
students are more accepting of cheating. Most feel the pressure to succeed, so they will do things
that they know should not be done. Socrates believed that this form of ethics, knowing what we
ought to do, can be taught. ( Carroll, A.) Today s society is teaching children that the need to get
ahead is greater than character development. Others feel cheating is a mind set and that mind set
makes a difference between being taught and actually learning.
With the aid of modern technology, cheating is easier to get away with. (Eberhardt, 1) Camera cell
phones, laptops, and Ipods are some of the tools enabling students to cheat and even plagiarize. The
rational incentives to cheat have grown dramatically. Glater. J.) Whatever the reason, academic
dishonesty is receiving more and more attention especially on the college level. This puts teachers
in a dilemma to thwart attempts by banning cell phones, disabling the internet in classrooms, or
even developing ways to check for plagiarism. Until we come up with a no tolerance attitude about
cheating, students will continue to use it as a way to get ahead.
Team communication means being a good learner and listener. Teams need to be ready to setup and
start learning how to provide feedback to their team members. Communication

Unlike their gender, the speech the characters give an insight to their true personalities. In the

Enough no more! (1.1.6 7). He accentuates his original metaphor by personifying music and
comparing it to a breeze that carries the flowers odor with it. Until line 8, Orsino does not
mention his love explicitly. Instead, he establishes the feeling of yearning by referring to symbols
of love such as music and flowers. Orsino ends his long speech with, Even in a minute, So full of
shapes is fancy./ That it alone is high fantastical. (1.1.14 15). By stating that love is a wonderful
figment of imagination, Orsino reinforces the previous metaphorical and vague language he uses in
the beginning of the speech. That it [love] alone is high fantastical (1.1.15) also shows that he is a
true romantic because he is in love with the concept of love rather than the person themselves.
Furthermore, he line, ...Enough no more! (1.1.7) contradicts with the previous line, Give me excess
of it, that, surfeiting, (1.1.4) which proves that Orsino is very dramatic in character because he
constantly vacillates in his actions and desires. He is emotionally unstable at times in the play and
thus acquires a dramatic behavior.
In Act 5, Orsino delivers a speech to Olivia in order to express his broken heart and pine over his
unreciprocated feelings. However, by drawing out the speech with allusions, excessive language,
and metaphors, Shakespeare portrays Orsino as an overemotional and romance driven character.

hardware drivers, power management, memory management, process management and binder

Linux kernel, it is not a standard Linux kernel; Google has customized it for Android devices. The
main difference between them is the binder driver, which is an Android specific inter process

Android process. Another major difference is the ashmem module, which is an Android version of
shared memory allocator, similar to Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) shm but with a
simpler file based API. And also the Power Manager has been enhanced to save battery, which is
critical for smartphones.

Electronic Waste Essay
Electronic waste comes in many different forms such as old computers, old cell phones, broken
household equipment and machinery, and much more. The main categories for electronic waste or
e waste are ICT and telecommunications equipment, office electronics, large and small household
appliances, consumer equipment, leisure equipment, lighting, medical equipment, automatic
dispensers, monitoring and control instruments, and batteries (ayubmacharia.com). From these
different types of e waste, there are many different toxic substances that can escape from them in
numerous different ways. The principal toxic substances that are contained within electronics
include zinc, nickel, lead, barium and chromium(allgreenrecyling.com). When these harmful
chemicals are sitting in landfills, they can be spread by leeching into our groundwater, or being
released into our air when warmed up. Many landfills exist in third worldcountries, meaning that
billions of tonnes of electronic waste each year are sent to these countries. The toxins contained
within the e waste are then released into the atmosphere, and can even end up in products being
sent back to first world countries to be merchandised. There are many adverse effects of the
different toxic substances held within e waste. Firstly, zinc is a very common substance within our
environment, it is present within many different foodstuffs as well as within drinking water. Zinc is

The Similarities Between Lucius And The Tale Of Cupid And...
Many historical and mythological accounts of Graeco Roman history in the classical period,
involved tales of magic, worship of the gods, and emphasised the value society placed on devotion
to religion. These societal beliefs and practices became evident in the literature of Greek and Roman
societies, where its use, reach, and consequences was illustrated. In the only surviving Roman novel
of the 2nd century AD, ApuleiusMetamorphoses, readers encounter a Greek nobleman, named
Lucius, whose insatiable curiosity leads him to explore magic. His over enthusiasm to intimately
experience and learn about magic, accidentally causes his transformation into an ass, causing him to
be subjected to a range of vulgar, exploitive, and lustful debaucheries on his path to become human
again.
This essay will explore how Lucius s insatiable curiosity and thirst for forbidden knowledge causes
him to become a victim of magic, and how religion delivers him from its dangerous realms. Finally,
this essay will comment on the contested approaches to interpreting the final book of the novel.

The Pros And Cons Of Slavery In British New York
Slavery in New York under the English rule, compared to the Dutch, was different in the way that
slaves were tolerated, treated and had the ability to be free. The Dutch had a fairer attitude and
were open to helping the slaves find their freedom. On the other hand, when the English took over
New York, their guidelines for the slaves dehumanized them and put legal restrictions around them.
Under the British rule, slaves were treated harshly and weren t allowed to integrate with the other
colonists, compared to the Dutch who were more tolerant and allowed the slaves to have some
legal rights.
The British came up with many laws that restricted and oppressed the slaves for their benefit,
some of these laws included, that slaves couldn t own land, couldn t leave their masters houses,
and couldn t gather in a group of more than 3, and if they did, they would be abused, killed or
have their limbs cut off. However, the most important law that essentially ended freeing enslaved
people was this, no enslaved person could be freed without the master paying a ВЈ200 bond and
promising to pay the enslaved person ВЈ20 a year for life, (UNIT THREE: NEW YORK Resource

Thus, the apparent lack of a motherly figure further distances Aureliano Babilonia from the typical

in Colonel Aureliano BuendГa s workshop. His infancy spent in the workshop shapes his future
obsession of studying MelquГades parchments, as he likely associates the workshop with safety and

adequate amount of human interaction, one is largely shaped by their surroundings during infancy,
leading to a more analytical or observant nature that arises in place of observing human interactions

Elizabeth Camden managed to inflict universal ideas of right of free will, loving at all times and

The Delicate Relationship Between Artist And Artwork
M. Sanders
Aesthetics
10 December 2014 The delicate relationship between artist and artwork is one that seems so
intensely personal that it _____. In spite of this intimacy, the positive or negative actions of an
artist or the responses elicited from their works are assessed by the eyes of the public usually in
hopes of locating a correlation between the two. This begs the most direct question of whether or
not it s possible to separate art from the artist. Within this dispute, more complex and dark
arguments exist. Picasso and Pulanski, two revolutionary figures in their own mediums, are not
better known for their alleged crimes. Their names carry a certain weight in their association with
some questionable conduct during their own respective eras: adultery and abuse in one scenario,
and pedophilia in another. Alas, it is heard to say if these factor into these artist s profound
contributions to the artworld. More difficult is understanding which audiences place the most
emphasis on these crimes in regard to the works being judged, and why. If no one else, it is hoped
that critics are able to make the distinction between aesthetic masterpieces and the failable human
nature of their creators. Non experts might have an understandably difficult time in breaking apart
the two, plainly because they are not normally asked to. Without justifying the any unfavorable
action of any artist, a concession can made that great artists of whatever variety seem to be wired

Zarqawi convinced that the killing of Shiites and stimulated a civil war between Shiites and

The Children And Their Primary Schools Report
The children and their primary schools report, also known as the Plowden Report, was published
in 1967 by the Central Advisory Council and written by Bridget Plowden. The aim of the report
was to consider Primary Education in all of its aspects and the transition from primary to secondary
education. The Report took four years to write and was published just after the post Second World
War. At this time many people believed that environmental influences played a significant role in
the development of students. (Bartlett et al., 2001).
The Plowden documented different recommendations into how children should be taught and
strongly emphasised the importance of the first 6years of a child s education. The report also looked
closely at any social inequalities that might affect the child s learning such as family size and/or
overcrowding. The Plowden also had a major influence on today s education, it introduced a new
style of teaching and learning, that hadn t been used before. Before the report was published,
education was taught in a very traditional and didactic way of the teacher standing at the front of
the class and sharing their knowledge to the children who expected to just listen and take in the
information. However after its publication the way in which children was taught became very child
centred with them becoming more involved in their learning and the lessons were adapted in a way
that would benefit and interest the child as the Plowden states that .Many people

The Specter Of Lessons In The Holocaust
The Holocaust has an ambiguity in holding lessons, which appear endless. It reinforces the
justification of the idea that the past holds lessons for the present. It creates the idea that if the
lesson is not learned it is at our peril. However, there is no universal lesson gleaned from the
Holocaust, that is convincing enough to justify the current obsession of studying it. Rather, it is the
collective memory of oppression and the specter of comparison, that has made us chose to believe
that there is a universal lesson to be learned.
The specter of comparisons affects our understanding of the past and the present. The specter the
ghost of the past affects our view of the present, but also the present effects our view of the past.
The Holocaust like other historical events is affected by this specter of comparisons. In
attempting to find lessons in the Holocaust the past becomes haunted by the present. It is looking
at the present with incurable double vision , as we see both the past and the present; it is like
looking through the end of an inverted telescope. This need for lessons is aided by seeing the past
in the present. The search for lessons leaves the danger of getting caught in a loop of the past and
present surrounding the Holocaust. It leaves the possibility of constantly being haunted by the past
and letting past oppressions be our definitions of ourselves in the present.
Christopher Browning is haunted by the past. In a review of Hitler: Ascent

Demographics And Overview Of Cities
Demographics and Overview of Cities
The issue of homelessness has plagued the United States for many years, more today in populated
urbanized cities. The San Gabriel Valley began with the Spanish conquest of the indigenous Tongva
people, leading to the Mexican government finally secularizing and dividing the land to individuals.
This further prompted large scale industrialization works such as railroads to be attempted, and the
immense success of the railroads, along with the blossoming agricultural economy, led to the
immigration of Mexican American and Asian American laborers to seek employment in this area
(Singleton 49 50). The issue of homelessness grew hand in hand with the ever growing economy.
The focus of the study of homelessness was on two cities in particular, El Monte and Baldwin
Park, but an overview of the Service Planning Area 3 gives a better starting point in viewing the
area. The physical location of the San Gabriel Valley(right) is east of the city of Los Angeles,
bordered to the north by mountains, contained by hills to the east and west, and completed by the
Puente Hills to the south. It is one of the most ethnically diverse regions in the country, including 31
different cities, which in turn contain large communities of racially diverse peoples (Cheng 21).
Next to note are the demographics of the service planning area. As of 2010, a rough estimate places
close to 2 million individuals in the San Gabriel Valley, with the 2000 census counting the

I Am A Soldier And A Good Person
The army has taught me so many great things. It taught me how to be a disciplined soldier and a
good person. I was inexperienced of life before I joined the army. Therefore, I was overwhelmed
of life lessons when I came to basic training. However, I learned the seven army values which were
loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrityand personal courage; I experienced every
value throughout my training process. They help me to discipline myself to be a good soldier and a
good person. The value that I honored most was integrity. I was taught that integrity was doing
what s right, legally and morally. However, throughout my training experience, I understand
integrity as fearless, to tell the truth, responsible for your own action, and hardworking.
Integrity means the courage, to tell the truth. In the beginning of my training process, I was told
to study the seven army values by heart. I didn t understand why my drill sergeants made such a
big deal about those values. The seven words were easy to remember, and we all knew the
meaning of them. However, I changed my mind when I witness Lopez s situation. Lopez ate a
Twister bar and left its wrap in the trash can. My drill sergeants found out about it and questioned
the whole platoon. Lopez was fear of the punishment, so he didn t admit his wrong action. Lopez
was considered having no integrity by the whole platoon. However, Lopez wasn t the only one
who was accused of having no integrity; my drill sergeants were

Compare And Contrast Art And Renaissance Art
When one ponders the significance of the artwork that was produced during the Renaissance,
Baroque and
Rococo stylistic periods, advancement in scientific understanding during these periods may seem to
be nothing more than an afterthought. For centuries, the quest for scientific knowledge and
understanding by the artisan community had been smothered by the Christian church who fulfilled
the role of main patron of art during the Middle Ages. However, the
15th to 18th century experienced a turning point, not just creatively, but also in relation to artisans
inculcating an every increasing scientific knowledge base into their creative works (The Art
Institute of Chicago, 2003). The Renaissance in particular, which by definition means rebirth, set in

The intent of this short essay is to illustrate how one work of art from each of the following stylistic
periods demonstrated the deepening relationship between art and scientific knowledge:
Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo. During the Renaissance, one of the most influential artists,
Leonardo Da Vinci, embodied the spirit of the
Renaissance due to his multifaceted expertise in numerous fields outside of art. Leonardo Da Vinci
had a passion for scientific exploration, specifically relating to the anatomy and physiology (A P) of
the human body (The Art Institute of
Chicago, 2003). Da Vinci was passionate about learning as much as he possibly could about A P
so that he can accurately and precisely portray the human body in his artwork (The Art Institute of
Chicago, 2003). Numerous sketches have been found in the pages of Leonardo s journals with
vividly detailed sketches of the skeletal system, muscular system, and organ systems of the human
body. One work in particular entitled sketch of Uterus and Foetus brilliantly illustrates how
Leonardo melded science and art. On first glance, the eye is immediately drawn to the detailed

Attachments In Relationships
Many people think that attachment is something that only toddlers experience. But, after the
research I did and asking people specific questions, I saw that even adults display different types
of attachments in relationships. Four different forms of attachment were developed because of
the strange situation experiment. Those being: secure attachment, insecure avoidant, insecure
resistant and disoriented disorganized. I wanted to see if I could specifically place an adult into
one of these categories by forming a rating scale based on a couple of statements that were
related to each type of attachment. I asked two people that are very close to me to take the survey
I developed: My boyfriend Nick, and a co worker Donna. So, each of the statements

Why Are Red Wolves Endangered
Red Wolves have no natural predators. The Red Wolves have been endangered since the 1960s,
which has affected history and the environment ( Red Wolves History Red Wolves Conservation
Center). The red wolf s main threat is breeding with the eastern coyotes, but can helped by having
specialists set up camp to breed red wolves together. The Red Wolves, which are also known as the
CanisRufus, are the world s most endangered canid (Red WolfHabitat). The length of a red wolf is
four to five feet, weigh from fifty to eighty pounds, and a height of about twenty six inches.
Their fur is black and brown on the top of their body and yam (brown, orange, red) on the
stomach area. These beautiful creatures live in swamps, forests, and coastal prairies from
Southeastern Texas to Central Pennsylvania. Canis Rufus hunt and live in a pack of five to eight.
In the pack, there is an alpha wolf, which is a wolf which breeds adult duplets and progeny. Wolves
are known to only have a partner throughout its life.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Red Wolves are originally from Southeastern USA. Because of habitat loss and the control
predator programs, red wolves, that were left, migrated to the Northeastern part of USA. Which
was harmful to them, because of the vast populations of coyotes in Northeastern USA. The
incorporation of small Red Wolf population, vast Coyotes population, and small area causes the
two species to interbreed. This interbreeding causes the breakdown of natural barriers ( Red
Wolves and Coyotes USFWS). The minor threats, such as vehicle and illegal mortality and
diseases such as hookworms and heartworms, are also extremely bad for Red Wolves. They happen
to them when they are in the wild. These blessed animals should be saved from the threats of
habitat loss, predator control programs, reproduction with coyotes, and other minor

Wolf Spider Predation
ABSTRACT
In Cautious versus desperado males: predation risk affects courtship intensity but not female
choice in a wolf spider the courtship displays of the wolf spider, Pardosa milvina were investigated.
The wolf spider s courtship display in males includes raising their legs and shaking their bodies.
The rate of a males leg raises is a signal of the assets the male has, females that mate with males
with quicker leg raises had more progeny and these left the egg sac faster and lived longer.
Rypstra et al. wanted to determine if male wolf spiders that differ in assets and quality would
behave differently under the risk of predation and wondered if the differences in reactions would
affect how females choose their mates. This study consisted of two experiments, in the first
experiment they determined that the symmetry of the front legs of males was related to their rate
of leg raises, this was used as a measure of male quality. They used this measure in the second
experiment when they explored how Tigrosa helluo predator cues changed the males courtship
behaviour. It was determined that predation cues did not have an effect on whether mating
happened between males and females and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that higher quality males should perform their courtship display at a lower intensity
when predator cues are present, while lower quality males should increase their displays. This is
because higher quality males long term reproductive options are more evident and lower quality
males may become desperados and showoff whatever assets they have in a desperate attempt to
convince a female to mate with them. If females can judge whether a male is of high or low
quality then even when there is risk of predation, they will mate with the males that are of higher
quality (Rypstra et al.

Art, But Only If You Say So
William Blackstone
Trina Sutton
ENC1102
April 6, 2016
It s Art, But Only if You Say So Art is powerful. It has the ability to stir up violence or promote
peace, mend relationships or tear ones apart. But how can just a couple of different colored lines
create such a difference? It s our interpretation, sometimes despite the artist s intention, that give art
its power. And there are some activists under the guise of artists (or vice versa) who intend to evoke
such emotions and shake the political pot, those who purposefully try to get people thinking; people
like the famous, yet totally anonymous, french artist/activist Princess Hijab and british artist
/activist Banksy. The names of these gifted anonymities are no doubt one s you have ... Show more

These political artists are on a journey to get a point across in society. To display their art on the
canvas of public domain, may be considered a crime. But who determines whether their text is
vandalism or art and activism? And if there s a determining factor, what is it?
In an exclusive interview with Juxtapoz magazine, Banksy, most likely the most popular
anonymous artist (how ironic is that), commented on how he qualifies his work as succeeding,
saying I m at a point with art where I only really care if the piece is more than the sum of its
parts. I m lucky because what I make either succeeds or fails. Some people undoubtedly would
tell you that s why it s crap art, but that s the way it is... All I need is to make my point and get
something more out of it than what I put in... My satisfaction level is independent of your
opinion... And the flip side is, if I know it s failed, there s nothing you can say that would make it
OK. (juxtapoz.com) Banksy prides himself on being detached from the populous but his whole
objective is displaying issues prevalent within the populous. His persona reflects an out of body
experience within society, allowing him to be sarcastic on heated topics and not being taken as a
criminal but regarded as an intellectual. By acting higher than the society these artists are in, their
work is perceived by the public to be higher than just vandalism. And that is where therein lies the
sweet spot of success in artistic

Analysis Of Amy Tan s A Pair Of Tickets
All individuals have values, beliefs, and attitudes that develop throughout the course of life.
Families, friends, and the community in addition to experiences all have significant contributions to
how people view and sense the world. Ethnicity refers to the characteristics of a particular group of
people including skin, hair, and eye color. On the other hand, culturerefers to shared patterns of
behavior, cognitive constructs, and interactions an individual in a particular society learns through
socialization at a particular time. It includes religion, language, social habits, arts, and music. Since
culture and ethnicity comprise of the most personal attributes of an individual, they affect one s
decision making, actions, and values.
Culture and ethnicity has a very profound effect in shaping the way individuals view the world.
Many studies have proven that individuals from different cultures will view and perceive things
differently, probably because of how their individual cultures shaped their view of the world. Amy
Tan s A Pair of Tickets provides a brief narrative concerning the reminiscence and conscience of Jing
mei, a Chinese American woman on a trip to meet her half sisters for the first time. The young
woman is fully Americanized while the mother is a Chinese immigrant, trying to communicate
Chinese stories to her daughter, who is completely ignorant of their Chinese heritage. While in
America, Jing mei states that her Chinese identify is only skin deep,

Informative Essay On Artistic Gymnastics
Stick It
Have you ever wanted to feel like you are flying? Artistic gymnastics is a good sport to take part in
because it improves your strength, flexibility, coordination and balance, gives you the chance to
build great relationships with others, and you will often experience the feeling of flying. There are
five types of gymnastics, artistic, rhythmic, acrobatic, trampoline and tumbling, and aerobic, but
artistic is the most popular. A gymnast will be taught a variety of skills from a kip on the uneven
bars to a Yurchenko on vault. Artistic gymnasticscan often be thought of as an individual sport
because gymnasts win individual awards and perform routines alone, but it is a team sport. Similar
to most other team sports, men and women do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The current format for an artistic gymnastics team is four three three, which means there are four
gymnasts on the team, only three compete in each event and only those three scores count. In
the team finals, gymnasts compete with their team and perform in all four events. Being part of
a team is very important to the mental side of gymnastics. During competitions, a gymnast will
always have her team with her to cheer her on. Having positive reinforcements from team
members will improve the gymnasts overall performance. If a gymnast is becoming discouraged
while trying to get a new skill, words of encouragement for teammates can make it easier for the
gymnast to achieve the skills. Another relationship in a gymnastics atmosphere is rivals. A
gymnast will almost always have a rival during , whether this it be a single person or an entire
club. Gymnasts also usually have a great relationship with their coach, especially if they have been
coached by the same person for years. Having strong bonds with teammates and coaches really
benefits the total performance of a gymnast, in all

The Fool Or Jester, Hired By Olivia
Feste is presented as the fool or jester, hired by Olivia to entertain as an allowed fool. Feste can
speak however he likes to anyone and everyone, including a well respected person such as
Olivia. It seems that he almost reverses the roles. He talks down to people that have higher ranks
than he. At one point, Feste says to Olivia Do you not hear fellows? Take away the lady, making
everyone else seem as they are the fool.
Feste is actually quite clever and witty, though it may not seem like it. He shows the readers this
with his language, word play, puns, as well as his quick wit. In scene 5, Feste begins with He that
is well hanged in this world needs to fear no colours. Maria also plays into the comedy of the
Twelfth Night. Maria and Feste are like a comedy duo participating in quick, witty, and comedic
exchanges.
A theme throughout many of Shakespeare s works, is disguise. His characters seem to love to
disguise themselves. It turns to be quite important, especially in his comedies. In the Twelfth
Night, it seems to be quite ironic. Feste dresses as a wise man. He is trying to be comedic, even
though he is a wise man. He reveals his true nature without many knowing. It was a great value
added by Shakespeare; he showed the audience a glimpse of Feste s true nature. Disguise is a key
element in the Twelfth Night. The main disguise would be Viola dressing as Cesario.
Feste likes to play with words and occasionally seems to talk nonsense. Feste

  • 2. The Role of Eve in Paradise Lost The importance Milton attached to Eve s role in Paradise Lost and in the Garden of Eden is now recognised and acknowledged. (Green, 1996) Milton s treatment of Adam and Eve s relationship is complex. Sometimes referring to them in ways that indicate equality, (ibid) sometimes stressing their separateness as individuals (ibid) and other times they are complementary halves of a whole. (ibid) Taking on the view that many support; that Milton intended Eve to seem completely inferior to Adam, we can examine Eves role in the fall. Traditionally, readers and critics have responded to Eves actions with compassion and concern. (Revard, 1973) Two critics who particularly react this way are Dennis Burden and Fresdon Bowes. (ibid) A.J.A Waldock has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Adam had forced Eve to stay with him, he would have Eve s without free choice. This would have tarnished the liberty of Eden. (ibid) Adam has tried to make clear to Eve what her responsibilities are and what her place is in the garden. He has also warned her of the dangers in the garden. Eve knows also of the dangers of Satan by overhearing Raphael talking about them as in a shady nook I stood behind. (Levi, 1996) Eve is clearly at a disadvantage in encountering Satan in an intellectual debate; however Milton does lead the reader to question the role of intelligence in the poem. It wasn t the intellectually able angles the politically astute Beelzebub and the rhetorically expert Belial (Revard, 1973 p.76) who unmasked Satan in Book V. Many feel that Adam is guilty of negligence; however, others feel that he is merely an ineffective leader. (Revard, 1973) Stella p.Revard goes as far as saying that God is in fact to blame. Since refusing Eve the permission to leave would break the rules of free will then God is blameworthy for having left uncompelled the wills of human beings in the first place and having permitted Satan the opportunity to try them. (Revard, 1973 p.74) Is it only Milton s portrayal of Eve that is the cause of so much controversy? In examining two different examples of the portrayal of Eve, the reader can decide if it was Milton who created the controversy surrounding Eve, or if the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Good Night And Good Luck Analysis Legendary CBS News broadcaster Edward R. Murrow is a journalist who made history with exposing Senator Joseph R. McCarthy. Although the story will go down in history, with the help of the movie Good Night, and Good Luck directed by George Clooney, how much is known of the historically accurate story. While some could argue that George Clooney and producer, Grant Heslov, made the screenplay naive, others disagree. Many may even state that it was well researched and followed the original weekly CBS story, See It Now, accurately. Both are easily arguable. In the movie, Good Night, and Good Luck, it is portrayed that many people or news companies were too afraid of McCarthy to stand up to him. Although by the time the show, See It Now, aired on the 9th of March, 1954, many people wanted to remove McCarthy from chairman. Many Republicans joined Democrats in publicly denouncing him, including Richard Nixon. Many would state that mainstream news was also very anti McCarthy, including Time Magazine and Chicago Tribune. Another red flag that may make people question the accurateness of this film is the changing in minor details, including the beginning of this movie when the date of the RTDNA Convention in Chicago is displayed on October 25th , 1985 when the Convention was held on October 12th, 1958 . Also, Murrow s keynote address is introduced by a man who talks about the issues that Murrow reported on . This includes exploitation of migrant workers, while this is true, Murrow ... • 5. What Is My Favorite Vacation Place Essay Tawas Sometimes getting away from your home for a vacation is much needed for the mind and soul. For me, my favorite vacation place is the beautiful tourist city of Tawas, Michigan. My first exciting visit to Tawas was when I was ten years old. Since then, it has been an annual family trip. My favorite place in the city of Tawas is my Aunt Debbie and Uncle Danny s cabin that overlooks Lake Huron. They kindly allow us to stay there each summer. The creaking floors and squeaky swing on the lakefront gives it special qualities to show the years of love families have experienced there. I have many treasured memories at this special location. It bring smells, feelings, thoughts, and emotions that are just what I need to refresh my mind and soul. Over the years, Tawas has become my favorite summer location because of the beautiful sites of the lake, the soothing sounds of the water, the old cabin, and the fun memories. My favorite memory at Tawas is the long jet ski ride to a small island just off the tip of the bay. It has a very old small white lighthouse and a sandy beach. This feeling of peace, quiet, and nature is exactly what I enjoy about this special vacation place. I have quickly grown attached to the traditional old brown log cabin in the past eight years. It catches my eye with the scratches and dents that give it character. My nose is tickled by the sweet smell of an old musty cabin and campfire. I can feel the unique stress that the wooden walls have experienced over the years. My mom says, If these walls could speak image what the stories they could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Conservatism, By Moises Kaufman And The Tectonic Theater... Conservatism, at its Best. Merriam Webster defines change as to become different . It happens in different ways and for various reasons. It can alter people s perceptions of the world and even define who they are, like the Emancipation Proclamation redefined the lives of millions of African Americans. However, there are those who oppose it to preserve a detestable status quo. The play The Laramie Project by Moises Kaufman and the Tectonic Theater Project introduces some of those people who live in the quiet town of Laramie, Wyoming. It has been 18 years since the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay resident of Laramie. After that tragedy, has anything changed? One answer comes from Laramie resident Rebecca Hilliker who states in The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ideologies that are the foundations of the US, like Christianity, are so ingrained in people s beliefs that they can t imagine others not following the same ideals and thus they respond harshly against all transgressions. As the TFP Student Action organization writes, gay marriage should be opposed because It Violates Natural Law (TFP Student Action). The fact that many Americans are so narrow minded that they want to deny the happiness of others goes against the American values of living freely and our society needs to solve this problem before more Americans suffer. This prejudice evoked me to discover what people are doing to fight the discrimination associated with homosexuality. I was optimistic, at first, about finding people who want to change societal prejudice directed at homosexuals, since there had to be some souls who wished to change their community for the better. But, in my search, I found relatively few such people; one of them is Jonas Slonaker, a gay resident of Laramie. Slonaker is a pivotal character in the movement for change within the conservative structure of Laramie. His goal is to make Laramie and Wyoming come out of the Matthew Shepard case with something lasting, like legislation. As he says, You know, it s been a year since Matthew Shepard died, and they haven t passed shit in Wyoming... nobody anywhere, has passed any kind of laws (Kaufman 97). • 8. Laura Koller s Spring Wedding Spring Wedding In my senior project, Laura Koller s wedding meant so much for me to be able to be a part of putting my creativity into her wedding. I want Laura to have the best wedding with the most amazing flowers she choose and to not worry about having the flowers not being the way she wants them to be. When Laura s wedding caught my attention, I felt honor to be able to be part in the next step in someone s lifetime. In this project, I ll talk about the history of weddings, the flowers that were used, the creation and the packing up. The flowers or herbs were used in historical weddings since the beginning of time to show a way of love and well wishes to everyone. The first use of wedding flowers were the ancient Greeks. The flowers or plants were used to make a crown for the bride to wear and was a gift of nature. The bridesmaids would have floral decorations which were garlands, bridal bouquets and boutonnieres. Mostly the bridesmaids were to make a poesies, to make, for each guest to wear as a symbol of saying thanks. Over time, the flowers and their meanings stayed the same but the herbs lost their place in modern North American weddings. Some of the cultures and religions have intertwine herbs with flowers to celebrate the marriage with a gift of nature. Leading up to and during the Middle Ages, weddings were considered as a family and community affairs. The only main thing about a wedding was for both partners to state a consent to take one of them as a spouse. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the film about what happened in the asbestos disaster in Libby, Montana gives us a major display of face saving behavior that is almost sickening to watch. We see this behavior come out in the tapes from the court case in which the owner of W. R. Grace was being questioned on the events that had transpired in the years in which the plant in Libby was active. The prosecutors begin to question him routinely on what he knew about everything. They were trying to figure out if he knew what he was doing to his workers in exposing them to such conditions, or if he genuinely knew nothing about the harmful effects of exposure to asbestos. This is where we see the face saving behavior come out. Throughout being questioned he was very short and almost caught off guard with most of the question being asked. He begins playing dumb and attempting to make it look like he knew nothing about the harmful effects in an attempt to save face on the issue to avoid being held accountable for his actions in the company. He was asked whether or not he knew anything about the harmful effects of asbestos exposure to which he said he knew nothing about. This attempt to save face was shot down by the prosecutors when they introduce new evidence showing he did receive studies in which the exposure to asbestos was extremely harmful to the health of his workers. • 15. The Flea By John Donne Marriage is a social construct that technically has no meaning other than what the person engaging in marriage puts to it. Yet, the idea of marriage is a concept that copious amounts of people hold dear. It wormed its way into the importance of society early, and even dictates the movement in a relationship, most notably that of intimacy. In John Donne s poem The Flea, extended metaphor is used to explain that the act of intimacy does not matter whether it is performed before or after marriage. Also, explicit imagery is noticeable through the poem and outlines the underlying taboo topic being discussed. Another important detail, the flea within the poem is not only used as a comparison in the extended metaphor, but also as a symbol of innocence. In The Flea, Donne plainly spites the acceptance of traditional values by using extended metaphor, gross imagery, and symbolism. The Flea is commonly interpreted as indecent, and there is a reason behind the plain and indecent language in the poem. The poem s central theme lies around the subject of premarital sex. It challenges the traditional view that couples should only consummate after marriage. The challenge is inadequately hidden on purpose through the tawdry situation that is a young man trying to lie with a young lady. That being said, premarital sex is not a big deal in today s times, but it was an extremely scandalous topic in the 1600s. • 16. The Correlation Between Sex Tourism And Prostitution Tourism has been a major contributor to the economic, social and human development of Morocco. Its social and economic impacts such as the reduction of unemployment and poverty are clearly evident in today s society. With a growth of 6.0% in its tourism compared to the world average growth rate of 1.6%, the success of the Moroccan tourism sector is without any doubts astonishing. In fact, tourism has become one of the most important sectors for Morocco. It is said that the reasons behind this success are mainly due to the development and implementation of new policies under the reign of the monarch, King Mohammed IV, and the development of certain industries such as agriculture and textile. In this paper, however, I argue that there are other factors behind Morocco s rapid development in the tourism industry that are ignored due to social and religious reasons. In order to demonstrate this point, I will examine the predominance of sex tourism and prostitution in Morocco and how they play a major role in the development and success of tourism. Finally, I contend that the tourism sector is not sustainable as its social and economic impacts have already started affecting negatively the social life of the Moroccan population. Unless an alternative of sustainable tourism is put in place, this growth in the tourism industry will disappear leading to unprecedented and unwanted consequences. Before examining the sex tourism in Morocco, let us first look at its starting point. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether it was to kill other people or to kill themselves, they did it without question. Some cult leaders used fear, violence and guilt as a means of a weapon to control the minds of their followers. Other cult leaders used persuasive and spiritual speeches that made their followers believe they were doing good and fulfilling God s plan. Because cult leaders are powerful through psychological offenses, the people that belong to their cults are brainwashed into doing things they wouldn t normally do in their right state of mind. The Merriam Webster online dictionary defines cult as: a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious; also: its body of adherents. Indeed, any religion involving unconditional worship and unquestioning obedience to God could be labeled as a cult (using the derogatory suggestion of the word), since such a religion would have that high level of dependency, obedience, and unwavering compliance ascribed to cults by definition. Many mainstream religions still require their members to believe in God unquestioningly, to have faith that he is good and that what he does is good, to consider one s own wants and needs as unimportant while accepting the will of God as paramount. All of these are certainly characteristics commonly attributed to cults, but while it would not be unreasonable to apply this definition of a cult to any dogmatic religion that requires strict compliance with God s word and will as a condition of membership, the notion of applying the word cult to Christianity, Islam, Judaism, or any other major world religion today is considered absurd. There are those who make this very claim: that those who worship God fit the classic depiction of cult members in their dogmatism, unswerving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout this experience, it has put me out of my comfort zone. I learned at a summer conference that if you are comfortable in what you are doing you are not learning. Well, I have been extremely uncomfortable all while learning a plethora of new knowledge . This practicum has let me experience new committees and helped me in finding my voice. The tool created by John Driscoll: What? So What? and Now What? was a great model to use throughout the practicum. It guided me and helped me put all of the work into an organized format from which I can help myself learn even more. Throughout this experience, I have asked myself what? many of times. Whether it be What is our why? or What were we thinking? . What I got out of this experience I believe has changed my career path for the better. I have been involved with three different committees that I had on my practicum contract. These committees have opened my eyes to what a good committee looks like and to what a committee that is in need of some help looks like. What I found most surprising is how a committee starts and then no one wants to take the lead. I believe that is what leads to the downfall of a committee or program. If no one believes or wants to push for the program, then why should others. I have seen a change in my colleagues in the TLA and myself start to stand up and assist with these issues. In my time devoted to this practicum, I have learned how to use my voice and speak up for what I think or would like to see. I have also used my voice to reach out to parents and our school staff. For our AdvancED visit in January, a group and I lead a discussion on our values and beliefs as a school. In three consecutive sessions we were able to produce a list of three commitments that we believe our staff and students can live out day to day. So, what was the point of completing this practicum which I thought I would not? I have gained peoples respect, peoples trust, and most importantly, I have shown my abilities to my colleagues. Satire In Lysistrata Satire, Sex and the Role of Women in Ancient Greece Aristophanes comedy, Lysistrata, uses satire to show the issue of war between ancient Greek cities and uses women and sex as a weapon to explain the futility of war. Aristophanes was a playwright, landowner and political representative in Athens born around 450 BCE. He is considered by many to be like Father of Ancient Comedy. All of Aristophanes comedies show commentary on the contemporary society and the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta. The comedy that I will be analyzing today, Lysistrata, was produced in 411 BCE and involves a sex strike to end the war. Various health conditions are either caused or aggravated by environmental factors. One of the major health causing hazards is air pollution which can results in asthma, cancer, and other severe respiratory conditions of which, many of these children are naГЇve about how to protect themselves from these diseases. Students from the grades four through sixth need to be educated about the health hazards resulting from air pollutionand learn practices at school that will help lessen air pollutants for their overall health and for future generations as well. Applications such as riding your bike and walking to school, and creating your own garden, will help promote good health for children as it will help improve air quality for them. Education Educating students on environmental hazard, specifically air pollution, at a young age can help prevent premature respiratory conditions and so, teachers must find creative ways for students to understand how much air quality can affect them. To begin one of these activities, teachers will provide background information about common issues that are affecting the environment both globally and locally then provide an activity that will get students engaged as to understanding why and how these issues came to be. Students in grades four through six should be able to understand the characteristics of organisms and their environment, and so teachers will focus on the latter of this topic. One of the lessons would be teaching what is environmentalism, by stating that, everything that we do in our daily lives affects this interrelationship [ecology] as the earth is always changing. Today people are changing the earth faster than any forces of nature. We have created many problems like landfills, oil spills, and nuclear disasters (Norwood 1996). Thus, the apparent lack of a motherly figure further distances Aureliano Babilonia from the typical love children experience, likely contributing to his reserved and initially tentative nature. Rather than growing up like the other children of the BuendГa family, Fernanda locks Aureliano Babilonia in Colonel Aureliano BuendГa s workshop. His infancy spent in the workshop shapes his future obsession of studying MelquГades parchments, as he likely associates the workshop with safety and comfort, and naturally absorbs himself into every aspect of the room. This suggests that, without an adequate amount of human interaction, one is largely shaped by their surroundings during infancy, leading to a more analytical or observant nature that arises in place of observing human interactions and developing connections with others. However, Aureliano Babilonia s youth is not entirely devoid of human contact. At around three years old, he escapes the workshop, appearing in front of Aureliano Segundo, his grandfather, as if he were not a human child but the encyclopedia definition of a cannibal (294). This furthers the idea that Aureliano Babilonia lives more like an ostracized, uncivilized individual than a normal child. Moreover, his comparison to a cannibal, a term that Amaranta Гљrsula ... • 39. The Delicate Relationship Between Artist And Artwork M. Sanders Aesthetics 10 December 2014 The delicate relationship between artist and artwork is one that seems so intensely personal that it _____. In spite of this intimacy, the positive or negative actions of an artist or the responses elicited from their works are assessed by the eyes of the public usually in hopes of locating a correlation between the two. This begs the most direct question of whether or not it s possible to separate art from the artist. Within this dispute, more complex and dark arguments exist. Picasso and Pulanski, two revolutionary figures in their own mediums, are not better known for their alleged crimes. Their names carry a certain weight in their association with some questionable conduct during their own respective eras: adultery and abuse in one scenario, and pedophilia in another. Alas, it is heard to say if these factor into these artist s profound contributions to the artworld. More difficult is understanding which audiences place the most emphasis on these crimes in regard to the works being judged, and why. If no one else, it is hoped that critics are able to make the distinction between aesthetic masterpieces and the failable human nature of their creators. Non experts might have an understandably difficult time in breaking apart the two, plainly because they are not normally asked to. The Children And Their Primary Schools Report The children and their primary schools report, also known as the Plowden Report, was published in 1967 by the Central Advisory Council and written by Bridget Plowden. The aim of the report was to consider Primary Education in all of its aspects and the transition from primary to secondary education. The Report took four years to write and was published just after the post Second World War. At this time many people believed that environmental influences played a significant role in the development of students. (Bartlett et al., 2001). The Plowden documented different recommendations into how children should be taught and strongly emphasised the importance of the first 6years of a child s education. The report also looked closely at any social inequalities that might affect the child s learning such as family size and/or overcrowding. The Plowden also had a major influence on today s education, it introduced a new style of teaching and learning, that hadn t been used before. Before the report was published, education was taught in a very traditional and didactic way of the teacher standing at the front of the class and sharing their knowledge to the children who expected to just listen and take in the information. • 43. The Specter Of Lessons In The Holocaust The Holocaust has an ambiguity in holding lessons, which appear endless. It reinforces the justification of the idea that the past holds lessons for the present. It creates the idea that if the lesson is not learned it is at our peril. However, there is no universal lesson gleaned from the Holocaust, that is convincing enough to justify the current obsession of studying it. Rather, it is the collective memory of oppression and the specter of comparison, that has made us chose to believe that there is a universal lesson to be learned. The specter of comparisons affects our understanding of the past and the present. The specter the ghost of the past affects our view of the present, but also the present effects our view of the past. The Holocaust like other historical events is affected by this specter of comparisons. In attempting to find lessons in the Holocaust the past becomes haunted by the present. It is looking at the present with incurable double vision , as we see both the past and the present; it is like looking through the end of an inverted telescope. This need for lessons is aided by seeing the past in the present. The search for lessons leaves the danger of getting caught in a loop of the past and present surrounding the Holocaust. It leaves the possibility of constantly being haunted by the past and letting past oppressions be our definitions of ourselves in the present. Christopher Browning is haunted by the past. The San Gabriel Valley began with the Spanish conquest of the indigenous Tongva people, leading to the Mexican government finally secularizing and dividing the land to individuals. This further prompted large scale industrialization works such as railroads to be attempted, and the immense success of the railroads, along with the blossoming agricultural economy, led to the immigration of Mexican American and Asian American laborers to seek employment in this area (Singleton 49 50). The issue of homelessness grew hand in hand with the ever growing economy. Leonardo Da Vinci had a passion for scientific exploration, specifically relating to the anatomy and physiology (A P) of the human body (The Art Institute of Chicago, 2003). Da Vinci was passionate about learning as much as he possibly could about A P so that he can accurately and precisely portray the human body in his artwork (The Art Institute of Chicago, 2003). Numerous sketches have been found in the pages of Leonardo s journals with vividly detailed sketches of the skeletal system, muscular system, and organ systems of the human body. Wolf Spider Predation ABSTRACT In Cautious versus desperado males: predation risk affects courtship intensity but not female choice in a wolf spider the courtship displays of the wolf spider, Pardosa milvina were investigated. The wolf spider s courtship display in males includes raising their legs and shaking their bodies. The rate of a males leg raises is a signal of the assets the male has, females that mate with males with quicker leg raises had more progeny and these left the egg sac faster and lived longer. Rypstra et al. wanted to determine if male wolf spiders that differ in assets and quality would behave differently under the risk of predation and wondered if the differences in reactions would affect how females choose their mates. This study consisted of two experiments, in the first experiment they determined that the symmetry of the front legs of males was related to their rate of leg raises, this was used as a measure of male quality.
