Britain s Conscientious Objectors in WWI Essay
The first world war saw a lot of refusal towards the war effort by men which made the government
afraid due to the futile and indiscriminate slaughter of the British army at the battle of the Somme in
1916 where General Haig s tactics failed to show success which resulted in Britain losing a vast
majority of soldiers by 1916. Therefore the government feared that they might lose World War one as
well because there a lot of casualties which needed to be replaced and many men were becoming
antisocial and refused to join the war, these people were known as conscientious objector or short for
C.Os. Some C.Os did not want to fight in the war but were keen to do there bit in the war, so they
were willing to help out in weapon factories and go to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which unfortunately resulted in C.O getting sentenced or being send to prison where C.Os got harshly
treated, because of theses punishments towards C.Os it procreate in 6,000 C.Os being send to prison ,
39 got sentenced to death and 10 died due the brutal treatment displayed at the prisons. C.Os had
many other objection thrown to them not just by the government but by the society as well, because
due to embracing their beliefs C.Os gained a bad reputations all around and society and the
government saw C.Os to be nothing but criminals, traitors and cowards and thus segregated C.Os from
the rest of the public, also women s humiliated C.Os on the streets by pining a white feather on their
coat which symbolized the idea of cowardice. I would be assessing the interpretations of my chosen
sources and would be analysing the judgements peoples made towards C.Os in each source and I also
would be classifying if the source is primary or secondary interpretation as primary in interpretation is
written at the time of the event and a secondary interpretation has been researched and is written after
the event has happened.
Even with to the lack of enthusiastic about joining the war effort the government still tried to enlist as
many men possible to join the war, therefore enforced propaganda techniques to instigate men to join
the military and adjust their moral beliefs to suit the needs of the war also satisfy government and

Ms Project
This nugget, the next in 3.0 Managing Resources and Assignments, is focused on 3.2 and 3.3. 3.2 is
going to be a bit of a review. We ve already talked about the Task Types, Fixed Work, Fixed Units and
and Fixed Duration, but we re going to apply the Resources. So 00:00:19 we are going to assign the
Resources that we ve already created in the previous nugget and we re going to further explore
W=UxD because they all work together. Depending on the Task Type, depending on the Units, the
Resources, depending on the Work and the Duration, it s going to directly impact on the schedule
calculations. So this nugget is really going to put it 00:00:42 all together. We already have our Tasks in
Microsoft Project. We already have our Resources in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So we go to the Resource tab and look at the ribbon for the Resources. We have a button here called
Assign Resources. If I open up the Assign Resources I get another window that s going to pop up. And
the reason Steve particularly likes this window is, it s a stay on top. I m on Resource 1. I ve already
assigned, sorry. I m on Task 1 I ve already assigned Resource 1 as per our select from the list box. I
can simply go to Task 2. and the stay on top box remains and I could say Task 2 is going to be
assigned to Resource 2 for example, and I click Assign. 00:05:20 So now we see Resource 2 has been
assigned. The Work, the Units is 50%. Why? Because this resource is only available to us by the
Resource sheet for 50% of the time. So let s have a look at what assigning a 50% Resource does to a
task. If I move my window just a little bit we see the 00:05:43 Task has a three day Duration.
Resource 2 is only available to work on the Task 50% of the time. So if we take 3 days x 8 hours
would be 24 hours. At a rate of $10 an hour, one would think the cost would be 240 but because
Resource 2 is only available to work on the task 50% of the time, we only work on the task for 12
hours, instead of 3x8 which is 24, and therefore the cost is only $120. And we can go on assigning
resources because this again is a stay on top. We go to Task 3 and we say we re going to assign
Resource 1 to that Task, and we re going to assign Resource 3 to a Task.

Donald Super Theory
In 1980, Donald Super introduced a theory that described career development in terms of life stages
and life roles. Super was one of the first theorists to discuss the constantly evolving nature of career
development, and the importance of finding a balance between career and personal life. Super s
developmental model emphasized how personal experiences interact with occupational preferences in
creating one s self concept. Super discussed how each of us progress through various life and career
development stages, including growth, exploration, establishment, maintenance, and disengagement.
He also discussed that each of us take on different roles as we go through life, such as a child, student,
leisurite, citizen, worker, parent, and spouse. Each of these roles has an impact on our personal and
professional development, and on our work/life balance. Finally, his archway of career determinants
detailed how both personality characteristics (intelligence, needs, values) and societal characteristics
(labor market, school, family) influence our career choices and have a major impact on our career
development. Super s Life and Career Development Stages Donald Super s theory of career
development focuses on the different stages people progress through as they go through life, and how
these stages correlate with important events and career choices. During growth (birth 14 years), people
grow physically and begin to form ideas of their self worth. During this time, many people

Effects Of Containment In The Korean War
Containment in the Korean War
With the help of militaristic and economic aid from Soviet Russia, North Korea had South Korea
cornered in the Pusan Perimeter by September of 1950 and a communist victory looked inevitable.
However, the United States ditched their policy of isolationism and joined the war effort alongside
other United Nations forces and supported South Korea. Since the North Koreans now had to send
their supplies all the way down to their soldiers in Pusan, General Douglas MacArthur took advantage
of this and instead of using ground forces to fight the North Koreans in Pusan, MacArthur used the
United States Navy to flank the supply line in the Battle of Inchon which occurred in September of
1950. This allowed the United States to take back the capital, Seoul, for South Korea which weakened
the North Koreans on top of the blockaded supply line. After Inchon was destroyed, United States
ground forces moved upwards. On September 25th of 1950, the North Koreans took back Seoul so the
United States released an air raid on the North Koreans. By October 7th, the Unites States Forces
crossed the pre war border. The North Koreans were pushed up close to the Chinese border when
China threatened to send troops into Korea. MacArthur had similar ideals as Senator Joseph McCarthy
in that they felt that the US was being too soft on communism and needed to do more about it
(Mattingly). So when China threatened to send troops in, MacArthur thought that China was bluffing

Literature Review On Lightweight Concrete
CHAPTER TWO: Literature review
2.1. Lightweight concrete:
2.1.1. Introduction:
Foam balls lightweight concrete (FBLWC) has been a feature in the structural construction owing to
its advantages over the normal weight concrete (NWC). It is a concrete weighing substantially less
than that is made using gravel or crushed stone aggregates. Lightweight aggregate concrete is usually
chosen for structural purposes which its use will lead to a lower overall cost of structure than will be
expected with normal weight concrete.
To gain perspective on the behavior of lightweight concrete, available literature from the previous
research work is reviewed and a review of the codes and standards requirements for this kind of
concrete. This literature review provides an overview of previous work done on lightweight concrete.
This chapter describes the nature of foamed balls concrete, its composition and properties and how it
is used in civil engineering works. Because the properties of foamed concrete can vary widely, and it
can be used in a wide variety of applications, it is important to define performance requirements for
each case.
2.1.2. Historical background:
The history of lightweight concrete production from natural source dates back to pre Roman times.

Aerated concrete is also commonly known as a cellular concrete (Neville and Brooks, 2010). It can be
divided into two main types according to the method of production. They are foamed concrete (non
autoclaved aerated concrete (NAAC)) and autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC). Foamed concrete is
produced by injecting preformed stable foam or by adding a special air entraining admixture known as
a foaming agent into a base mix of cement paste or mortar (cement+water or cement+sand+water).
The AAC is produced by adding a predetermined amount of aluminum powder and other additives
into slurry of ground high silica sand, cement or lime and water. (Yen, 2006; Li,

Carl Jung s Theory Of Personality And Psychological Types
In the 1920 s, a Swiss psychologist named Carl Jung devised a theory. Jung didn t accept the idea that
the behaviors of people were random. Instead, he was a firm believer that the differences between
individuals were a result of how people use their brains. Jung claimed that what appears to be random
behavior is actually the result of differences in the way people prefer to use their mental capacities.
(The Myers Briggs Foundation). Jung realized that people typically function in one of two ways, take
in information or make decisions, and that people usually are more comfortable alone or around
others. With all these observations, Jung wrote a book titled Psychological Types, which introduced
the idea of personality and psychological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Introverts are people who spend time thinking and reflecting before they act. Their motivation is
internal, which might end up closing them off from the world around them. Introverts usually prefer
one to one relationships, and only express intimacy with a few family members or close friends.
Introverts also love doing activities that allow them to be put in an organizational position.
Occasionally, introverts will shut down and close off from all of those around them. Personally, I
believe that is a completely accurate description of myself. I also plan out my days ahead of time, and
I love being able to put things together. While I sometimes I think that it is a negative thing, I do tend
to close off from my circle, which happens to be very small. If I do get to meet my goal of being a
teacher, my introversion definitely yields to potential for problems. Getting out of my shell would be a
challenge, without a doubt. That being said, my introversion is mostly geared towards others my age. I
am usually very comfortable around people that are older or younger than I am, which makes me
believe I would probably be okay. Other than having to overcome the challenge of opening up, being
an introvert does have upsides, such as having an urge to get things done. The next part of my INFJ
combination is that I am intuitive. Being intuitive means that I able to feel things that seem true by a
feeling that is similar to instinct. The intuitive brain wants to be able to

The New Foundation Of The National Government
After the Philadelphia Convention of 1787, it was voted that Constitution would become the new
foundation of the national government, not the Articles of Confederation. At the time, there were
thirteen individual states that had to vote to ratify or reject the Constitution. Within these thirteens
states, there were two groups that consisted of the Federalists and the Antifederalists. The Federalists
supported the Constitution; however, the Antifederalists opposed the Constitution. The Federalists
were led by an individual by the name of Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton was thought of as an
intellectual with a mind that blew many. These Federalists were the first political party of the United
States of America. They wanted a strong national ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Madison claimed that these factions could be stopped by electing representatives. These
representatives would then put forth national interest ahead of factional interest. In the other essays,
the Federalists foresaw the future of the country containing leaders from various competing interests
and groups, for the Antifederalists believed this was to be primarily the farmers. Overall, the
Federalists main points of discussion were a strong national government and commercial growth of
the nation, along with financial policies that revolved around central banks. The Antifederalists were
obviously opposed to the Constitution, and they were in full support of the Articles of Confederation.
The Antifederalists leaders, like Patrick Henry, believed the Constitution challenged individual s
liberty. The Antifederalists acted in factions. As the Federalists believed in a strong central
government, the Antifederalists thought this would get in the way of state sovereignty. Furthermore,
other factions within the Antifederalists believed a strong, central government would reflect the
government of Great Britain, in which they were trying to get away from. Patrick Henry publicly
spoke out against the Constitution claiming it would give the States very limited power. The
Constitution was to contain a president, army, and the power to tax. Henry and others viewed this as
basically Great Britain. They were afraid that the

Nutrition Admission Essay Sample
I am interested in the nutrition program at MUIH for a variety of reasons. I have a passion for learning
how nutrients and food can significantly impact the body and a desire to share and help individuals
reach their health and wellness goals. Additionally, this program will provide me with the opportunity
to step foot into a career focused on preventative health. One of my passions in life has consistently
been about food, nutrition and wellness. As a small child, I was inspired by my mother and her
journey back to school to become a nutritionist. Consistently throughout my childhood, I was guided
towards healthy food with nutritional quality and learned about holistic health and how these things
can directly impact one s quality of life. Once I entered college, my love and passion for cooking and
food became apparent and I began to learn how to cook nutritiously and for substance. My knowledge
base grew as I began to seek out online sources of information from nutritionists and dietitians alike. I
have learned that there is not one thing that is a cure all when it comes to an individual s health, but
that prevention is key and nutrition can go a long way in helping a body recover.

Do Not Text, Just Drive Essay
Texting, as of right now, is one of the most used ways of communication. But when texting is mixed
with driving, it is not the safest combination. Texting and driving should be banned in all fifty states
for all ages because texting is a privilege, not a right, it is a distraction, it is dangerous, and innocent
lives have been tremendously affected. Although cell phone usage has become extremely evolved
within this decade, it still has brought many flaws throughout our nation. One would think with the
total number of deaths and numerous accidents that the entire nation would eventually come to a
conclusion about this issue. But as of right now, twelve states prohibit all drivers from using hand held
cell phones while driving. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By any means, being patient and texting someone later cannot lead to danger or death of others. Start
realizing that texting in general, is not a priority or right for anyone to do, it is simply a privilege.
Texting and driving should be banned in all fifty states because texting is a distraction that keeps
drivers away from the road. According to the book Brain Rules, while multitasking, research shows
your error rate goes up 50 percent and it takes you twice as long to do things. (Cooper) Texting
someone is nearly the same as talking on the phone, therefore, it s an ongoing conversation. But
driving is an ongoing action, excluding stop signs and stoplights as well. As a driver the main focus is
the road. In order to send a text, the cell phone has to be the main focus. For example, if a driver is at a
stop sign, receives a text, and decides to look down at the phone. The driver s eyes, hands, and focus
completely move toward the phone and not the road anymore, which is the main focus. With this
situation, there are a number of things that can go wrong. Someone can switch lanes really quickly, a
baby can walk out the street, a car could suddenly stop, etc. So any drivers, who plan on multitasking
while driving, think twice before making that decision. A lot of risks are taken by texting and driving,
but the most important risk a driver takes while texting is either life or death. When it comes to texting

Marijuana is more beneficial to use than prescription drugs because of the lack of serious side effects.

Under Federal law, only FDA approved medications are legal to prescribe and marijuana is not one of

the body and brain make naturally. THC attaches to specialized proteins, called cannabinoid receptors

The western settlement in Saskatoon did not begin until the late 1800s, to be precise 1882 when

Led by John Neilson Lake, the group traveled by railway from Ontario to Moosejaw Saskatchewan,
and then lastly they traveled by carriage as the railway construction yet had to be completed in

The War Of Ancient Egypt Essay
WAR IN ANCIENT EGYPT
Introduction: I chose this book because of my newfound appreciation of Egyptian warfare. I had
always been fascinated by Egyptian history, but had somewhat dismissed the study thereof. I highly
suggest this book to anyone studying Egyptian warfare. It analyzes in great depth, the New Kingdom
and its war strategies prior to the Egyptians takeover of Syria. The excruciating detail in which
Egyptologist, Anthony Spalinger articulates has details for the novice, the middle student, and even an
instructor of ancient civilizations.
Summary: Elaborated from a militarist and often scientific point of view, hieroglyphs, reliefs, and
artifacts that would otherwise convey an ominous or mysterious meaning behind glass in a museum,
are given new life as a master of his trade deciphers the undecipherable in his book, War in Ancient
Egypt, Ancient World at War.
Purpose: Anthony J. Spalinger tells us that his purpose is to enable the reader to gain a more thorough
knowledge of the New Kingdom in ancient Egypt from 1550 1070 B.C.E. Instead of bombarding the
reader with an extensive list of wars during this timeframe, Spalinger promises to present his
dissertation concerning the New Kingdom from a logistical standpoint as opposed to a historical one.
Spalinger further solidifies his intent when he tells us that his goal is to help the reader to grasp the
state of deadliness that the Egyptian army rose to during the New Kingdom. He promises to list the

Dictatorism In The Hunger Games
Allowing people to get their needs for food and entertainment, without too much effort on them, was
what many different dictatorial societies did to control their communities for certain periods of time,
in the past. This was also dictatorial society s method to gain control over the districts and the Capitol
s people of the country called Panem in The Hunger Games trilogy of young adult dystopian novels
written by American novelist Suzanne Collins. These games were an entertainment that provided a
place for the Capitol s riches to spend time and money in abundance, a dusty page reminiscent of
capitol s victory in the war against districts, and a coercion to show off the capitol s power.
Hunger Games were very popular in districts as well as in the Capitol. People in the Capitol loved
hunger games because it was so exciting and breathtaking. Every year tributes came from other
districts in train and Capitol people waited there for them. Cheering, shouting for the new hunger
games, a game that they enjoy others death. The people begin to point at us eagerly as they recognize
a tribute train rolling into the city. I step away from the window, sickened by their excitement,
knowing they can t wait to watch us die (Collins 59). Some tributes waved their hands to them

What is Secularism Secularism according to some people is the belief that man does not need God to
be good. Secularism is also defined as a system of doctrines and practices that disregards any form of
religious faith and worship. Secularism has become widespread throughout the world and has been
adopted by almost all countries. Most country leaders do not identify their country with a particular
religion publically, but as a personal choice. Countries Even though Christianity continues to dominate
as the world system of belief, the likes of Secular Humanism continues to grow. Humanism in the
context of this writing and to describe a particular behavior is spelled with a capital H . It is used to
distinguish Humanism from humanities with a lower case h as it relates to the philosophical study of
human interest. Secular Humanism, in its more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the United States it is stated that religion will have no part in the political arena, except the use of
the Bible to take an oath to uphold a political office. Every position in any type of political office
though uses the Bible as the basis of swearing an oath to uphold the position of that office. I first
encounter the word secular humanism as a section of our studies while attending the International
Seminary School. It shows in our studies that secular humanism is responsible for wreaking havoc in
our communities, families, the rise in crime, divorces; it is also a cause for decrease in the morals and
religious education in the school system, among other things. It has lead man to believe that there is
no God (Atheism), that man can solve his own problems without any intervention from God or a god;
man believes he is the highest form of life. His faith is destroyed because of this

Visual Aspects of Mythology During The Greco-Roman Era...
Visual Aspects of Mythology During The Greco Roman Era Ancient Greece was a culture that took
great pride in flawlessness, superiority and on the whole greatness. The Greeks basically molded the
imaginative world with their cleverness in art, architecture, and astronomy for many cultures to come.
Even though so much of the Greeks culture has been shattered, much of it still remains within society
today. The Greeks were a culture that strived for excellence, and harmony. So many aspects of
contemporary day life have been in some way, influenced by the Greeks. They were fascinated with
the human form, which is revealed in most of their artwork. Perhaps the most common Greco roman
era can be seen from the Hellenistic period. Art still served a religious function or to glorify athletes,
but sculpture and painting were also used to decorate the homes of the rich. There was an interest in
heroic portraits and in colossal groups, but also in humbler subjects. The human being was portrayed
in every stage and walk of life. There was even interest in caricature. Landscapes and interiors
appeared for the first time in both relief s and painted panels. The great Altar of Zeus from Pergamum,
created by Greek artists for King Eumenes 2, was enclosed by a high podium documented with a
monumental frieze of the battle between the gods and the giants. Many Hellenistic tendencies were
realized in this work. The baroque style of the sculpture was characteristic of the time in its

Justice Of God By Ayatullah Naser Makarer
Within Justice of God by Ayatullah Naser Makarer Shirazi, the Justice of God is analyzed through
many subtopics of philosophies which all connect back to Allah s attribute of being Adl or Just. Justice
has two meanings that differ throughout the span of the book. The first one is to put everything in its
place which in other words means to balance and create symmetry between everything. The second
definition is following individual rights which means everyone deserves to be treated equally and the
opposite of that would be to take away their rights and only allow a sole group those rights. Now the
significance of God s Justice is neither to remove all the rights or give all the rights to one group that s
discriminated against others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their are many sources of oppression and how it starts. These include ignorance, need, inability, and
selfishness. Sometimes the oppressor is ignorant of what he is doing and in truth does not know what
they are doing. Another one is that if the oppressor has to commit this act in order to attain something
that someone else has which results in oppression, but if he was self sufficient they would have no
need to commit oppression. Inability is when someone is not willing to have the rights of another
taken but can t do anything about it, so he has to commit oppression. Selfishness is when someone is
bearing a grudge against a group of people like seeking revenge so they commit oppression against
that group of people. These are the many reasons why oppression occurs within this world.
One philosophy discussed are natural calamities such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis which
happen all over the world and are used to prove that Gods s Justice did not exist. They also used
natural disasters to prove that God doesn t exist. Another philosophy which is examined in this
publication is the difficulties faced in life and how the justice of God justifies them. For example, war
is terrible and tears apart lives but sometimes a difficult and long war causes a nation to blossom and
become united due to that difficulty. If we analyze the lives of the most successful people in this
world, behind them we will see many failures

Kahnemen s Business Model
As online modes of payment threaten the traditional model, dealerships should adapt sales strategies to
build trust with customers. The data shows that people are apprehensive about going into dealerships
but do like being able to see the car in person where they can ask questions easily. Management
policies should reframe themselves to eliminate short termism. This is a common tragedy seen in
many firms. Thaler (p188) was teaching a class on decision making to a group of executives, he asked
the group if they would undertake a project with a 50% risk of losing one million dollars and an equal
chance of gaining double. Only three of the twenty three said they would do it. Then he changed the
scenario so that the outcomes were all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Behavioural economists and psychologist alike have long experimented with framing, the way in
which an offer is put in context matters in a world in which people are prone to bias. Framings role in
marketing is perhaps best explained through prospect theory, a term described by Kahnemen. Groups
were given a choice of either getting $900 for sure or a 90% chance of getting $1000. The majority
chose the safer option of $900 since people are generally risk averse. The second problem was a
choice between losing $900 or a 90% chance of losing $1000, in this situation the majority took the
risk. The lesson here as Kahnemen describes is that losses loom larger than gains . Similar
experiments by () have shown that people will only risk losing money if they have an equal chance of
gaining twice that amount. So, when it comes to the discussed anchor price firms should instead set
retail prices which include all extras or perhaps a range of prices rather than a single number for a
vehicle. This means that consumers will have that higher number or range as an anchor by which they
negotiate with. If salesmen fail to convince the customer to buy a certain extra they can revert to the
default price. This makes the customer feel as if they are gaining more as they are giving up less than
the retail price.
Competition and pricing Pricing plays a key role in the

Gender Differences Within Social Development
This research paper is set to inform the reader of the gender differences through social development.
Depending on a child s gender, things such as gender identity and social acceptance have a great
impact in their development. The first thing parents learned about their children before birth is the sex
of the baby. This highlights the importance of sex and gender. Sex differences have long been a very
important topic in psychology and in understanding why gender differences affect social development.
Social learning theory helps to explain gender development.

Determining The Detection System Efficiency And Background...
Figure of Merit (FOM) is a mathematical expression that accounts for detection efficiency and
background noise, and is used to optimize system performance. The desire of this study is to
maximize the detection system s efficiency and minimize its background signal. The highest
optimization potential occurs at FOM s peak value. Finding the optimum counting region of interest is
an iterative process and an important first step in the characterization of a detection system. A standard
solution/sample s FOM value is determined by first counting it and determining its efficiency and
spillover. The detector electronics for most detection systems have multiple adjustable parameters
(e.g. applied voltage, amplifier gain, low level discriminator), which are adjusted to eliminate
electronic noise. These parameter optimizations are useful for reaching the optimum counting
conditions. In equation 1, ε is the counting efficiency in percent and B is the radiation background
count rate. Maximizing the FOM can optimize the conditions in achieving the highest efficiency for a
given background. Figure of Merit (FOM) = ε^2/B (Eq. 1) The optimization is achieved by adjusting
the operating voltage for a given discriminator setting and the discriminator setting for a given
operating voltage to find the optimal balance [Pujol et al., 2000]. Reducing the operating voltage of
the PMT can decrease the background count rate but may also reduce the counting efficiency.

Kiara s Recommendation
I am writing to recommend Kiara Patton to the Assembly Fellowship Program. As a student assistant
for the Office of Legislative Counsel, Kiara exhibited her many personal and professional strengths,
including her strong written communication skills. As a resolution writer, she also demonstrated her
adept research and critical thinking skills, as well as her creativity. For instance, Kiara skillfully
provided consultative services, made recommendations, and advised legislative staff on how they
might resolve issues that would be susceptible to the objection of the Senate or Assembly Committee
on Rules. She also worked closely with legislative staff to ensure the final draft reflected favorably on
the member of the legislature that would be presenting her work.
Kiara s strengths also include her dedication and multitasking skills. I was amazed at the ease with
which she could successfully navigate through a variety of tasks, while juggling her responsibilities as
a college student. Not once did I see her become overwhelmed by a given task or assignment. Kiara
not only effectively prioritized her work to ensure due dates were met, but she worked in advance of
due dates to alleviate deadline pressures on others. If I were to critic Kiara on any shortcomings, it
would be to improve on her assertiveness and editing skills. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Toilet Learning
When you are teaching Special Needs Kids to use the toilet, parents basically undressed them and sat
them in a potty stool for extended periods until they eliminated. Then often called toilet training, past
practices and past terms have been updated. Research has shown that seeing the kid as an active player
makes the toileting technique more enjoyable. Therefore, a more appropriate name for the technique is
toilet mastery or toilet learning. Toilet learning is a developmental technique in which a kid learns to
make use of the toilet appropriately. As in lots of areas of kid development, kids must reach a positive
age or be in the proper setting or situation before they are prepared to learn. Kids are prepared to learn
when they are healthy, well nourished, and not pressured to accomplish at a level above their

Social medias are the cooperative enterprises of online means of connection between people where
people share their ideas, thoughts as well as images. Some of the examples of social medias are social
networking medias such as Facebook, twitter, yahoo, Gmail, google plus and many more. Nowadays
different people have different way of living. They don t hesitate to speak. They share their sorrows,
their misunderstanding, their success all through social medias. Previously people used to
communicate through paper letters. Because of the advancement of science and technology people
started using electronic mailing system where they used to communicate and share their thought. But
Nowadays people are using Facebook as well as twitter for sharing their thoughts. Our president and
vice president use twitter for sharing their thought and ideas. Similarly, nowadays people are using
social medias just to show off where they post different types of information that is wrong or
information that gives double meaning where people want to say something, but people understand
different meaning. Dallas police tweeted that they have arrested famous footballer cornerback of

Phaedrus The Charioteer
In the historically well known work of Phaedrus, written by Plato, the human soul is compared to the
natural union of a team of winged horses and their charioteer (31). This horse drawn chariot is
controlled by a charioteer, which represents the human mind and a voice of reason, while each winged
horse depicts the rational and irrational passions of the human soul. Throughout Phaedrus, Plato
implores the pursuit of philosophy through controlled and modest passions rather than unrestrained
ones. The charioteer is the master of two horses, one of his horses is beautiful and good and from
stock of the same sort, while the other is opposite and has the opposite sort of bloodline (31) The

imperative to the cultivation of the soul, for only a philosopher s mind will grow wings, (37), and
without proper nourishment they will not be able to produce a return. Chariots that are reined by the
white horse move easily, since they are balanced and under control, but the other chariots barley make

will encounter the most extreme toil and struggle a soul will face (33). It is the charioteers job to guide
these two horses, who often try to go their separate directions, to a place beyond heaven on a quest to
enlightenment and glimpse of Reality (33). One who does not seek to reign in the black horse will

actually an incorrect approach to helping stop ecological degradation. In these previously colonized

The brigade inflicted great damage to the enemy troops with minimal casualties. Ultimately, Canada s
actions earned them a United States Presidential Unit Citation and prevented the communists from
crossing through the 38th Parallel and recapturing South Korean territory once again. In July 1951,
after US President Truman fired General MacArthur for insubordination, Truman and his new military
commanders started truce negotiations at Panmunjom. Nonetheless, battle continuously ensued across
the 38th Parallel as negotiations stalled. Canada s navy played a noteworthy role in defending UN
aircraft carriers for the chance to apply political pressure against North Korea. As Canada s eight naval
ships defended the UN aircraft, a mass series of bombings took place on 13 hydroelectric generating
facilities known as the Attacks on Sui Ho Dam. The UN wanted to make the message clear that they
were willing to make this war as difficult and expensive as possible for the communists. The strikes
were successful in destroying up to 90% of North Korea s facilities and causing a blackout for 2
weeks; 23% of power was also reduced from Northeast China. Eventually, this political pressure
contributed to North Korea to agree and sign armistice. Furthermore, the ships were also responsible
for short bombardments and the eradication of North Korean trains and railways. Although the

The Between Nazis And The German Jews
Whether it is turning off one s alarm and getting off of one s bed, making breakfast, taking the bus to
school, tying one s shoes, or sitting down in the same room for the same class at the same time, all of
these are examples of rituals in day to day life. Different people have different interpretations of what
the word ritual exactly means. A particular film, the likes of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas conveys
many of these meanings; analyzing the characters in this story, more specifically the contrast between
the Nazis and the German Jews, their personality can be sufficiently explained via Malory Nye s
theory regarding symbolism in ritual, Emile Durkheim s idea of ritual as being a society based action,
Harvey Whitehouse s thought about the relationship between ritual and memory, and Nye s perception
of ritual as being a means of attaining power. Pulling these theories together, the message in this film
becomes, as commonly stated: what comes around goes around, and as such, regardless of another
person s belief, one should not discriminate against that person based on their beliefs and values.
Throughout the film, it is the Jewish Germans who are dressed with the striped pyjamas in the movie
of discussion. And with deliberate reason. As such, it is not surprising that Nye has developed a theory
of ritual which he labels as being a symbolist approach to religion and ritual . Delving deeper, what
Nye tries to argue is that the importance and significance of

  • 2. Britain s Conscientious Objectors in WWI Essay The first world war saw a lot of refusal towards the war effort by men which made the government afraid due to the futile and indiscriminate slaughter of the British army at the battle of the Somme in 1916 where General Haig s tactics failed to show success which resulted in Britain losing a vast majority of soldiers by 1916. Therefore the government feared that they might lose World War one as well because there a lot of casualties which needed to be replaced and many men were becoming antisocial and refused to join the war, these people were known as conscientious objector or short for C.Os. Some C.Os did not want to fight in the war but were keen to do there bit in the war, so they were willing to help out in weapon factories and go to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Which unfortunately resulted in C.O getting sentenced or being send to prison where C.Os got harshly treated, because of theses punishments towards C.Os it procreate in 6,000 C.Os being send to prison , 39 got sentenced to death and 10 died due the brutal treatment displayed at the prisons. C.Os had many other objection thrown to them not just by the government but by the society as well, because due to embracing their beliefs C.Os gained a bad reputations all around and society and the government saw C.Os to be nothing but criminals, traitors and cowards and thus segregated C.Os from the rest of the public, also women s humiliated C.Os on the streets by pining a white feather on their coat which symbolized the idea of cowardice. I would be assessing the interpretations of my chosen sources and would be analysing the judgements peoples made towards C.Os in each source and I also would be classifying if the source is primary or secondary interpretation as primary in interpretation is written at the time of the event and a secondary interpretation has been researched and is written after the event has happened. Even with to the lack of enthusiastic about joining the war effort the government still tried to enlist as many men possible to join the war, therefore enforced propaganda techniques to instigate men to join the military and adjust their moral beliefs to suit the needs of the war also satisfy government and ... • 3. Ms Project This nugget, the next in 3.0 Managing Resources and Assignments, is focused on 3.2 and 3.3. 3.2 is going to be a bit of a review. We ve already talked about the Task Types, Fixed Work, Fixed Units and and Fixed Duration, but we re going to apply the Resources. So 00:00:19 we are going to assign the Resources that we ve already created in the previous nugget and we re going to further explore W=UxD because they all work together. Depending on the Task Type, depending on the Units, the Resources, depending on the Work and the Duration, it s going to directly impact on the schedule calculations. So this nugget is really going to put it 00:00:42 all together. We already have our Tasks in Microsoft Project. We already have our Resources in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So we go to the Resource tab and look at the ribbon for the Resources. We have a button here called Assign Resources. If I open up the Assign Resources I get another window that s going to pop up. And the reason Steve particularly likes this window is, it s a stay on top. I m on Resource 1. I ve already assigned, sorry. I m on Task 1 I ve already assigned Resource 1 as per our select from the list box. I can simply go to Task 2. and the stay on top box remains and I could say Task 2 is going to be assigned to Resource 2 for example, and I click Assign. 00:05:20 So now we see Resource 2 has been assigned. The Work, the Units is 50%. Why? Because this resource is only available to us by the Resource sheet for 50% of the time. So let s have a look at what assigning a 50% Resource does to a task. If I move my window just a little bit we see the 00:05:43 Task has a three day Duration. Resource 2 is only available to work on the Task 50% of the time. So if we take 3 days x 8 hours would be 24 hours. At a rate of $10 an hour, one would think the cost would be 240 but because Resource 2 is only available to work on the task 50% of the time, we only work on the task for 12 hours, instead of 3x8 which is 24, and therefore the cost is only $120. And we can go on assigning resources because this again is a stay on top. We go to Task 3 and we say we re going to assign Resource 1 to that Task, and we re going to assign Resource 3 to a Task. ... • 4. Donald Super Theory In 1980, Donald Super introduced a theory that described career development in terms of life stages and life roles. Super was one of the first theorists to discuss the constantly evolving nature of career development, and the importance of finding a balance between career and personal life. Super s developmental model emphasized how personal experiences interact with occupational preferences in creating one s self concept. Super discussed how each of us progress through various life and career development stages, including growth, exploration, establishment, maintenance, and disengagement. He also discussed that each of us take on different roles as we go through life, such as a child, student, leisurite, citizen, worker, parent, and spouse. Each of these roles has an impact on our personal and professional development, and on our work/life balance. Finally, his archway of career determinants detailed how both personality characteristics (intelligence, needs, values) and societal characteristics (labor market, school, family) influence our career choices and have a major impact on our career development. Super s Life and Career Development Stages Donald Super s theory of career development focuses on the different stages people progress through as they go through life, and how these stages correlate with important events and career choices. During growth (birth 14 years), people grow physically and begin to form ideas of their self worth. During this time, many people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Effects Of Containment In The Korean War Containment in the Korean War With the help of militaristic and economic aid from Soviet Russia, North Korea had South Korea cornered in the Pusan Perimeter by September of 1950 and a communist victory looked inevitable. However, the United States ditched their policy of isolationism and joined the war effort alongside other United Nations forces and supported South Korea. Since the North Koreans now had to send their supplies all the way down to their soldiers in Pusan, General Douglas MacArthur took advantage of this and instead of using ground forces to fight the North Koreans in Pusan, MacArthur used the United States Navy to flank the supply line in the Battle of Inchon which occurred in September of 1950. This allowed the United States to take back the capital, Seoul, for South Korea which weakened the North Koreans on top of the blockaded supply line. After Inchon was destroyed, United States ground forces moved upwards. On September 25th of 1950, the North Koreans took back Seoul so the United States released an air raid on the North Koreans. By October 7th, the Unites States Forces crossed the pre war border. The North Koreans were pushed up close to the Chinese border when China threatened to send troops into Korea. MacArthur had similar ideals as Senator Joseph McCarthy in that they felt that the US was being too soft on communism and needed to do more about it (Mattingly). Introduction: Foam balls lightweight concrete (FBLWC) has been a feature in the structural construction owing to its advantages over the normal weight concrete (NWC). It is a concrete weighing substantially less than that is made using gravel or crushed stone aggregates. Lightweight aggregate concrete is usually chosen for structural purposes which its use will lead to a lower overall cost of structure than will be expected with normal weight concrete. To gain perspective on the behavior of lightweight concrete, available literature from the previous research work is reviewed and a review of the codes and standards requirements for this kind of concrete. This literature review provides an overview of previous work done on lightweight concrete. This chapter describes the nature of foamed balls concrete, its composition and properties and how it is used in civil engineering works. Because the properties of foamed concrete can vary widely, and it can be used in a wide variety of applications, it is important to define performance requirements for each case. 2.1.2. Historical background: The history of lightweight concrete production from natural source dates back to pre Roman times. Ordinary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are foamed concrete (non autoclaved aerated concrete (NAAC)) and autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC). Foamed concrete is produced by injecting preformed stable foam or by adding a special air entraining admixture known as a foaming agent into a base mix of cement paste or mortar (cement+water or cement+sand+water). The AAC is produced by adding a predetermined amount of aluminum powder and other additives into slurry of ground high silica sand, cement or lime and water. (Yen, 2006; Li, ... • 7. Carl Jung s Theory Of Personality And Psychological Types In the 1920 s, a Swiss psychologist named Carl Jung devised a theory. Jung didn t accept the idea that the behaviors of people were random. Instead, he was a firm believer that the differences between individuals were a result of how people use their brains. Jung claimed that what appears to be random behavior is actually the result of differences in the way people prefer to use their mental capacities. (The Myers Briggs Foundation). Jung realized that people typically function in one of two ways, take in information or make decisions, and that people usually are more comfortable alone or around others. With all these observations, Jung wrote a book titled Psychological Types, which introduced the idea of personality and psychological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introverts usually prefer one to one relationships, and only express intimacy with a few family members or close friends. Introverts also love doing activities that allow them to be put in an organizational position. Occasionally, introverts will shut down and close off from all of those around them. Personally, I believe that is a completely accurate description of myself. I also plan out my days ahead of time, and I love being able to put things together. While I sometimes I think that it is a negative thing, I do tend to close off from my circle, which happens to be very small. If I do get to meet my goal of being a teacher, my introversion definitely yields to potential for problems. Getting out of my shell would be a challenge, without a doubt. That being said, my introversion is mostly geared towards others my age. I am usually very comfortable around people that are older or younger than I am, which makes me believe I would probably be okay. Other than having to overcome the challenge of opening up, being an introvert does have upsides, such as having an urge to get things done. (Cooper) Texting someone is nearly the same as talking on the phone, therefore, it s an ongoing conversation. But driving is an ongoing action, excluding stop signs and stoplights as well. As a driver the main focus is the road. In order to send a text, the cell phone has to be the main focus. For example, if a driver is at a stop sign, receives a text, and decides to look down at the phone. The driver s eyes, hands, and focus completely move toward the phone and not the road anymore, which is the main focus. With this situation, there are a number of things that can go wrong. The excruciating detail in which Egyptologist, Anthony Spalinger articulates has details for the novice, the middle student, and even an instructor of ancient civilizations. Visual Aspects of Mythology During The Greco Roman Era Ancient Greece was a culture that took great pride in flawlessness, superiority and on the whole greatness. The Greeks basically molded the imaginative world with their cleverness in art, architecture, and astronomy for many cultures to come. Even though so much of the Greeks culture has been shattered, much of it still remains within society today. The Greeks were a culture that strived for excellence, and harmony. So many aspects of contemporary day life have been in some way, influenced by the Greeks. They were fascinated with the human form, which is revealed in most of their artwork. Perhaps the most common Greco roman era can be seen from the Hellenistic period. Art still served a religious function or to glorify athletes, but sculpture and painting were also used to decorate the homes of the rich. There was an interest in heroic portraits and in colossal groups, but also in humbler subjects. The human being was portrayed in every stage and walk of life. There was even interest in caricature. Justice has two meanings that differ throughout the span of the book. The first one is to put everything in its place which in other words means to balance and create symmetry between everything. The second definition is following individual rights which means everyone deserves to be treated equally and the opposite of that would be to take away their rights and only allow a sole group those rights. Now the significance of God s Justice is neither to remove all the rights or give all the rights to one group that s discriminated against others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their are many sources of oppression and how it starts. These include ignorance, need, inability, and selfishness. Sometimes the oppressor is ignorant of what he is doing and in truth does not know what they are doing. Another one is that if the oppressor has to commit this act in order to attain something that someone else has which results in oppression, but if he was self sufficient they would have no need to commit oppression. Inability is when someone is not willing to have the rights of another taken but can t do anything about it, so he has to commit oppression. Selfishness is when someone is bearing a grudge against a group of people like seeking revenge so they commit oppression against that group of people. These are the many reasons why oppression occurs within this world. One philosophy discussed are natural calamities such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis which happen all over the world and are used to prove that Gods s Justice did not exist. Framings role in marketing is perhaps best explained through prospect theory, a term described by Kahnemen. Groups were given a choice of either getting $900 for sure or a 90% chance of getting $1000. The majority chose the safer option of $900 since people are generally risk averse. The second problem was a choice between losing $900 or a 90% chance of losing $1000, in this situation the majority took the risk. Similar experiments by () have shown that people will only risk losing money if they have an equal chance of gaining twice that amount. • 26. Determining The Detection System Efficiency And Background... Figure of Merit (FOM) is a mathematical expression that accounts for detection efficiency and background noise, and is used to optimize system performance. The desire of this study is to maximize the detection system s efficiency and minimize its background signal. The highest optimization potential occurs at FOM s peak value. Finding the optimum counting region of interest is an iterative process and an important first step in the characterization of a detection system. A standard solution/sample s FOM value is determined by first counting it and determining its efficiency and spillover. The detector electronics for most detection systems have multiple adjustable parameters (e.g. applied voltage, amplifier gain, low level discriminator), which are adjusted to eliminate electronic noise. These parameter optimizations are useful for reaching the optimum counting conditions. In equation 1, ε is the counting efficiency in percent and B is the radiation background count rate. Maximizing the FOM can optimize the conditions in achieving the highest efficiency for a given background. Figure of Merit (FOM) = ε^2/B (Eq. 1) The optimization is achieved by adjusting the operating voltage for a given discriminator setting and the discriminator setting for a given operating voltage to find the optimal balance [Pujol et al., 2000]. Reducing the operating voltage of the PMT can decrease the background count rate but may also reduce the counting efficiency. Calculating FOM with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, Kiara skillfully provided consultative services, made recommendations, and advised legislative staff on how they might resolve issues that would be susceptible to the objection of the Senate or Assembly Committee on Rules. She also worked closely with legislative staff to ensure the final draft reflected favorably on the member of the legislature that would be presenting her work. Kiara s strengths also include her dedication and multitasking skills. I was amazed at the ease with which she could successfully navigate through a variety of tasks, while juggling her responsibilities as a college student. This horse drawn chariot is controlled by a charioteer, which represents the human mind and a voice of reason, while each winged horse depicts the rational and irrational passions of the human soul. Throughout Phaedrus, Plato implores the pursuit of philosophy through controlled and modest passions rather than unrestrained ones. The Between Nazis And The German Jews Whether it is turning off one s alarm and getting off of one s bed, making breakfast, taking the bus to school, tying one s shoes, or sitting down in the same room for the same class at the same time, all of these are examples of rituals in day to day life. Different people have different interpretations of what the word ritual exactly means. A particular film, the likes of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas conveys many of these meanings; analyzing the characters in this story, more specifically the contrast between the Nazis and the German Jews, their personality can be sufficiently explained via Malory Nye s theory regarding symbolism in ritual, Emile Durkheim s idea of ritual as being a society based action, Harvey Whitehouse s thought about the relationship between ritual and memory, and Nye s perception of ritual as being a means of attaining power. Pulling these theories together, the message in this film becomes, as commonly stated: what comes around goes around, and as such, regardless of another person s belief, one should not discriminate against that person based on their beliefs and values. Throughout the film, it is the Jewish Germans who are dressed with the striped pyjamas in the movie of discussion. And with deliberate reason. As such, it is not surprising that Nye has developed a theory of ritual which he labels as being a symbolist approach to religion and ritual .
