Forgetfulness Billy Collins
Poem Essay: Forgetfulness by Billy Collins A feeling that disturbs people most of the time is the
feeling of forgetfulness. This is because people are struggling to remember something they cannot
remember, therefore it puts a person in distress. In Forgetfulness , Billy Collins uses imagery to warn
the reader of the dangers and risks he might take if he does not pay attention to everything that
happens in his life. In his poem, Collins uses imagery to remind the reader of what it feels like when
someone is struggling to remember [something] and how a person cannot recall the specific memory
that was lost because it is not poised on the tip of [his] tongue . It happens to be a well known fact
when people forget anything, especially at the wrong time, it turns people from a state of calmness to a
state of panic. This is because he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consider this in relation to growing up. Part of growing up is learning how to handle certain
situations, specifically emergency situations. However, many people assume that those types of
situations rarely happen, especially to themselves. For instance, a five year old boy does not want to
learn how to swim because he says he will stay on dry land his entire life. As the years go by, he
forgets about not wanting to swim. One day he is drafted into the navy, his ship is attacked and sinks,
and the next thing he knows, he drown because of the fact that he refused to learn how to swim. This
example shows he has ended up like those who have forgotten how to swim , in other words he died
like those who died from drowning. The man who drowned would not have suffered his fate if he had
paid attention to the swimming lessons his parents made him take. By listening to the poet s warning
of being in distress, the reader has the ability to prevent by remembering past lessons like this from

The Cold War And The Soviet Union
The Cold War was a state of political hostility between the U.S and the Soviet bloc, the most powerful
nations in the world. The two countries fought together as allies in World War II but toward the end of
the War the two nations competing ideologies and visions of the post War prevented them from
working together. The Cold War was by far the biggest threat to human existence the world has ever
seen, although their was never any declaration of War between the two competing nations, the Soviet
Union and the United States both had weapons of mass destruction, that was capable of destroying
human life as we know today. From the end of World War II up until the collapse of the Soviet Union
the two nations competed in expanding their spheres of influence throughout the world. By 1960
Communism had maintained a high degree of focus, coordination, discipline, and strategic coherence
in spreading its ideologies throughout the world, the West seemed to be quite the opposite. In
discussing the Cold War throughout this period, you will catch a glimpse of the various events that put
the united states and the West on the defensive against communism. At the end of World War II Stalin
s post War vision involved defying the U.S and creating buffer zones between the Soviet Bloc and
Germany. In creating this buffer zone the Soviet Union created Communist friendly governments
throughout Eastern Europe. The spread of Communism in Eastern Europe created a division between

High Quality Data Quality Analysis
3.1 Introduction
High quality data facilitate a precise analysis and the resulting statistics. Hence, high quality data
assist the organization to increase its business value. This chapter demonstrates the concept of data
quality, the effects of inaccurate data, and the factors that cause low quality data.
3.2 Data Quality
The executive and the top management in organizations seek comprehensive reports and dashboards
to enable them to understand on going processes and facilitate the decision making that improves their
business. However, the decision making process may be influenced by various factors. Data quality is
a critical factor because when the quality of the data is inferior, poor decisions could be made [39]. In
addition, data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, several parties share the responsibility for the quality of data. In addition, J. E. Olson (2003)
observed that the poor data quality resulted from the rapid growth of information system technology
and the prompt evolution in system implementation and frequent changes that complicate and hamper
the quality control process [44]. According to C. Boulton (2016), 57.5% of poor data are caused by
users, followed by 47% caused by data migration and integration, which usually lead to gaps or
duplicate information, and 43.5% caused by changes to source systems (Figure 5) [45].
Figure 5: Causes of poor data quality [45]
Jack E. Olson (2003) defined data quality as data that are linked to their fit for use. In other words,
high data quality is obtained when the data fulfill the requirements and the criteria of its intended
usage. In contrast, poor quality results when the data do not fulfil their requirements [44].
3.3 Dimensions of Data Quality
In previous research, data quality was divided into two main categories: intrinsic and contextual. In
the intrinsic category, value resides within the data, which refers to objective attributes. In the
contextual category, the attributes of the data mainly depend on the context in which the data are
present, used, as well as the situation or problem. Data in the contextual category include the
dimensions of relevance and believability [39],

Lorraine Hansberry Essay
Her first play, A Raisin In the Sun, is based on her childhood experiences of desegregating a white
neighborhood. It won the New York Drama Critic s Circle Award as Best Play of the Year. She was the
youngest American, the fifth woman and the first black to win the award. Her success opened the
floodgates for a generation of modern black actors and writers who were influenced and encouraged
by her writing.
Hansberry was born in 1930, the youngest of four children of Carl and Nannie Hansberry, a respected
and successful black family in Chicago, Illinois. Nannie was the college educated daughter of an
African Methodist Episcopal minister, and Carl was a successful real estate businessman, an inventor

Cover of A Raisin in the Sun
Hansberry used the success of A Raisin In the Sun as a platform to speak out for the American Civil
Rights Movement and for the African struggle to free itself from white rule. She helped raise money,
gave impassioned speeches and took part in panels and interviews to further these causes.
After her initial success she lived only six years and was able to complete only one more play, a movie
and a television script which was too racially controversial to be aired. Her second play, The Sign in
Sidney Brustein s Window, was received with mixed reviews and kept open for 101 performances
only by the contributions and support of the theatre community. It closed the night she died at 34 from
cancer. After her death Nemiroff finished and produced her final work, Les Blancs, a play about
African liberation.
Hansberry had begun to claim her identity as a lesbian in a 1957 letter to a lesbian periodical, The
Ladder. This information and her 1964 divorce from Nemiroff was not widely known at the time of
her death. In 1965 the Gay Liberation Movement did not exist and a woman could not claim such an
identity without major reprisals. It was not until the 1980s that feminist scholars began connecting

The Consequences Of The Bombing Of Hiroshima
Bombing Hiroshima August 6th, 1945, 2:45, United States, Enola Gay departs America carrying the
most destructive bomb ever created. The horrid World War II would eventually end due to this, but in
the process some 210,000 innocent lives were lost in Hiroshima due to the deadly weapon. (Garner 3
4). Although the bombing of Hiroshima ended World War II, it was unquestionably an awful way of
doing it. Ten of thousands of people died, a whole city was destroyed, and the after fact of the
radiation lasted for years after the initial blast. The war with Germany had already came to an end due
to the strength of the allies, but Japan wouldn t give up. War with Japan drug on, even though Japan
was outnumbered. This proved that a bloody end was the only route to take. America understood that
the country with the highest amount of technological warfare and least casualties was going to win.
The whole war the United States used high tec bombs and planes, but nothing compared to what was
to come. The atomic bomb was the way of meeting those needs. The atomic bomb had never and to
this day, has never been used in combat (Miner 2 4). The United States felt that Japan brought this
upon themselves by bombing Pearl Harbor in 1941, bringing us into World War II, and not giving up
(Garner 4). When deciding where to drop the bomb, it was obvious that Hiroshima was a key place.
Being flat, the bomb radiation would spread causing more damage (Stover 4). Also, Hiroshima was a
Japanese army based, so if this didn t cause the end of the war, many of the enemy s supplies would be
ruined. (Garner 4). Three days after the bombing another atomic bomb was dropped on another
Japanese town, Nagasaki. This bomb was a lot less famous as Hiroshima, but it was also very
destructive and deadly. No one would ever imagined the extent of these awful weapons. The
Manhattan Project, was the name given to attentive project by the head scientist on the project, Dr. J.
Robert Oppenheimer. Planning the bomb took many minds and much time. The United States spent
two years and two billion dollars building this destructive device all in secret. The building of the
bomb started before Germany agreed to peace, so at the time the United States didn t know

Film Music Critique Essay

Music Critique of film Score
Action, suspense, love, and drama are all the makings for a great film. None of these key features to a
film could have any substance or feeling without the help of music. Composers play a big role for
setting the tone of the movie, developing characters, moving along or supporting action, and depicting
the time and place the movie is taking place. In the movie Heat, Elliot Goldenthal does just that.
Goldenthal was born in NY in 1954 and studied music under John Corigliano and Aaron Copeland.
His partner is Julie Taymor and he won an Oscar for the movie Frida which Julie directed. Goldenthal
has composed for several films as well as concert halls, theater and dance. He also has written an

This distinguishes his character of the hero, from the other two villain characters. At the end of the
movie Robert De Niro s character is trying to escape the country with the girl while Al Pacino s
character is right on his tail. There is a moment when De Niro realizes he cannot make it out with the
girl and in and unspoken stare he leaves. The music matches the feeling of the moment using long
drown out chords creating that sense a wanting and loss. As Pacino chases De Niro through a field the
music stops to intensify the action and set up the final scene. The music fades back in shortly before
Pacino shoots De Niro. The music carries into a high key riff that is repeated with strings playing four
tones slowly behind the keys. The music grows louder adding more instruments such as large cymbals
and carries into the credits. Goldenthal s score was replaced in the final scene with Moby s God
Moving Over the Face of the Water. Director Michael Mann felt that Moby s music better represented
a feeling of relief, that it was over, that Pacino finally got his guy. At the same time the music related
the two characters. Opposite from the beginning where the music separated the two, here it connects
them demonstrating how they were not that different and had respect and admiration for each

Invasive Species In Yellowstone Lake
An invasive species is a plant, fungus, or animal species that is not native to a specific location and
one point should be noticed is that invasive species does not have to come from another country. For
example, lake trout are native to the Great Lakes, but are considered to be an invasive species in
Yellowstone Lake because they compete with native cutthroat trout for habitat. Although there are
some invasive species arrive with spread and establish populations, like the native butterflies feed on
non native plants in California, the alien trees help restore abandoned pastures to a condition suitable
for native plants in Puerto Rico and even the much maligned zebra mussel helps filter toxins from
great lakes, most policymakers regard invasive

Pharmacy Technicians Essay example
Pharmacy Technicians
Despite popular belief, pharmacy technicians are more than laborers; they are specially trained
individuals. Imagine a family member is admitted to the University of South Alabama Hospital with
an acute case of pneumonia, which will require oral and intravenous medications.
These medications must be precisely prepared and properly delivered. The common perception is that
pharmacists prepare medications and technicians simply deliver them. This view of their job is both
accurate and inaccurate.
Pharmacy technicians are most often seen as the pharmacy s delivery boy .

The aseptic technique requires the sterile manipulation of syringes, vials, and medication in the
confines of a vertical and horizontal laminar flow hood. Both of these skills can be taught. Most
pharmacy technicians receive on the job training. The on the job training usually last for no more than
six weeks, which is approximately two percent of the time a pharmacist must dedicate to their
training. Ethical consciousness cannot be taught; only those who consider the implications of their
daily tasks acquire it. Technicians lacking professional ethics will endanger patient s lives.
Many ethical technicians make the choice to seek certification. Technicians are not required to become
certified by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, but thousands of technicians
become certified each year. Certification, however, does not test the abilities of the technician. It
simply tests the knowledge required to complete various tasks. A technician being certified brings up
additional implications involving questions of liability between the pharmacist and technician..
A pharmacist must check any medication that is administered to a patient. This is the focus of their
job. Nevertheless, if an error occurs they are not the only responsible party. Most laws involving
medical liability state that liability lies with the company and the competent medical professionals
involved with error. Once a technician

Acute pain related to lobectomy procedure and rib removal as evidenced by patient whimpering when

number one nursing diagnosis because of how high the patient rated her pain. Whether she was just
lying in bed, or moving around, she was in pain. The only thing that could somewhat decrease her
pain was pain medications, and even then, her pain only went down from a ten to and eight (Ackley

Nursing Care Plan and Evaluation Acute pain related to lobectomy and rib removal as evidenced by
patient whimpering when she moved and rating her pain eight to ten out of ten throughout the day.
The predicted behavioral outcome is the patients pain will decrease from eight out of ten down to five
out of ten by noon on the day of care. Interventions to meet this goal include:
1. Administering the patient s pain medications as often as allowed. This is important to help maintain
the patient s pain at an acceptable level (Unbound Medicine, 2014).
2. Assist the patient in movement. This helps to decrease the patient s pain by taking some of the
weight off her (Unbound Medicine, 2014).
3. Position the patient in the most comfortable position. Positioning has a large effect one pain. The
patient preferred to be sitting upright in her chair.
4. Provide or promote nonpharmacological pain management for the patient. Things such as a cool,
calm, therapeutic environment (Unbound Medicine, 2014).
5. Continuously ask the patient to rate her pain. Providing the rating, location and type of pain. This is
useful in determining if pain reduction measures are effective Unbound Medicine, 2014).

The Is Overused And Controls Society Essay
Medicalization is Overused and Controls Society In recent times, the concept of treatment for diseases
that are either perceived or real has appeared to become more complex. There has been a great deal of
development in the way diseases are prevented and treated. There are all manner of mechanisms and
schemes that allegedly cover one from future diseases along the path of imagination such as insurance
schemes. One cannot just bury their loved one without receiving a death certificate as permission to
proceed with burial plans. There are a lot of funds that are directed towards research and development
of drugs. Obesity is now a disease as opposed to seeing it as being brought about by our inability to
control and manage our eating habits. In essence, every diagnosis has a remedy on how best to prevent
and treat it in what is referred to as medicalization. In that case, it appears overused due to three
reasons that include a change of culture and lifestyles, treating ailments that could have been treated
via other means, and the habit of preempting diseases that are not there. Medicalization Conrad
defines medicalization as a process by which non medical problems become defined and treated as
medical problems usually in terms of illnesses or disorders (4). There is a wider range of issues or
categories that are incorporated under medicalization. They include eating disorders, learning
disabilities, sexual dysfunction, sexual and gender difference, opiate disorders,

A research specialist for the CDC, Dr. James Curran, stated in July of 1981 that no cases have been
reported to date outside the homosexual community or in women (Altman, 1981). That may have been
the case in that moment of time, but much changed over the course of only a few months. Between
July and December of 1981, another population was identified as suffering from the illness that had no
name. This was the population of injecting drug users (IDU) and it was no longer limited to the United
States, as Great Britain had its first reported case in that same month (AVERT, 2015). With the
HIV/AIDS outbreak achieving a trans continental status, efforts were ramped up to identify the source
of transmission. By the end of 1982, reports of cases with similar symptoms were coming from
several European countries, Uganda, and Haiti which reflected the widespread nature of the situation
(AVERT, 2015). In just one year, the number of cases reported in the United States alone went from 41

Media And Aging Process Analysis
When you re an adolescent, you will go through puberty and grow. The media might show tall people
as clumsy because their naturally slower than short people because of bone structure or a number of
other factors. This is untrue, as some people are genetically predisposed to being tall, and as such can
take advantage of it by participating in activities that favor height, such as basketball. Some people
develop body hair slower than others, and the media might portray that as something to be ridiculed,
but everybody is different and the body works in different ways. Some people s family history will
determine how young or how old their body matures, and understanding this will be beneficial to the
mental health of an impressionable young adult.
Sometimes the media might show middle aged people as having a mid life crisis or otherwise not
being able to cope with getting older. There are many people that go through this, but there are also
people that are fine with it and eating right and exercising will usually help slow the aging process.
Middle aged adults also are usually mentally tough and aware that they are getting older but will try
and remain youthful. The media takes advantage of this by marketing products designed to reverse the
aging process. Examples of this include anti wrinkle cream or hair dye which is used to ... Show more

have to learn in your own way. If you re having trouble, consult professional help, because the media

difficulty. It s not easy growing up, maturing, and getting older, but everyone has to go through this.

Fallen Women: Sexual, Racial, and Moral Inequality in Harriet Wilson s Our Nig Since time
immemorial, women have undergone massive discrimination, prejudices, and gender restrictive norms
established by patriarchal society. In modern history, these restrictions include limited access to
education, unequal remuneration placements and limited job advancement. In nineteenth century,
however, women had to struggle with different type of discrimination. Particularly, they had no
freedom because everything in their life was controlled by men. Such agenda was supported by
marriage laws, which basically stated that husband owned his wife. Divorces or runs away from

Racial differences play a significant role in marriage dissolutions a scenario that is replicated in

men to not only procreate but also satisfy men s sexual desires. The woman is afterwards disowned by
the white gentleman punctuating a miserable life into the gloomy future. Fundamentally, the loss of
virginity to a person who is neither a husband nor a prospective mate is considered a failure notably in
the novel. For this reason, as a tempted and fallen woman, Mag is despised by her own family,
community and becomes an outcast of the society, a fallen woman. Upon the untimely separation from
the white gentleman, it is evident that life will no longer be a bed of roses for Mag considering the fact
that the child that could serve as a unifying factor between her and the man, dies only days after

King Alfred the Great Essay
King Alfred the Great
King Alfred the Great was born at Wantage, in 849, on a royal manor of his father s holding, a family
estate which long afterward he himself would leave in legacy to his wife. Alfred was the youngest of
five children, four sons and a daughter, born to Ethelwulf by his wife Osburh. When Alfred was four
years old, his father, the king, who by now had long despaired of getting to Rome in the present state
of things, decided to send Alfred there, to at least receive the blessing of the Holy Father. The pope at
the time, Leo the IV, gave Alfred the blessing to become king. Alfred s time came in the year mid
April 871, when King Æthelred died. Only a king of full age could defend the land, and although

However, Alfred was not content with being on the defensive. He also attacked the Danish held City
of London in an attempt to diminish the lands ruled under Dane law (Bruce 4). No Anglo Saxon king
was ever strong enough to coerce a recalcitrant peasantry. Except Alfred who decided to allow half the
men liable for service to remain at home while the other half was out against the Danes (Stenton 261).
In order for Alfred to keep peace and defeat the Danes, he had to win many major battles. On Easter
Sunday 878, when King Alfred withdrew into the Isle of Athelney, there was every likelihood that
before the end of the year Wessex would have been divided out among the members of the Danish
army. King Alfred made sure that Wessex would escape that fate. Although Alfred did lose a major
battle against the Danes only four years ago, he overcame them in 878 when he won the Battle of
Edington. Alfred showed strong resistance by constantly engaging Danish raiding parties from his
base in Athelney. After nearly seven weeks of strong battles, Alfred was able to begin defeating the
Danes (Stenton 253). Along with Alfred s idea of coercing a recalcitrant peasantry, he had other ways
of defeating the Danes as well. Alfred began building warships in order to develop a navy. The ships
in which Alfred built were twice as long as those which they were intended to meet (Stenton 253).

Is Ebola Only Deadly To The Poorest
Is Ebola only deadly to the poorest?
The whole world is at edge knowing that Ebola is a very lethal virus and it is very tough to treat and
cure an infected person. But it has been seen that in countries were level of development is higher and
health care is easily reached this disease can be fought.
So far, every case of an American infected has ended happily, most recently Dallas nurse Amber
Vinson the second patient to contract Ebola in the US has been discharged from Emory Hospital,
Ebola free.
Cases of Patients being cured in America have become almost predictable. All of the Ebola patients
treated in the United States have so far survived. These exceed outcomes in Africa, where
approximately 70 percent of patients die.

The fact that there aren t enough doctors makes it harder for patient to be treated in a one to one care.
Infection control
Protective clothing including masks, gloves, gowns and goggles should be worn when coming into
contact with an infected person. The US Centres for Disease Control (CDC) recommend that the
protective gear leaves no skin exposed. These measures should be carried out for those who may
handle objects contaminated by an infected person s body fluids. In 2014, the CDC began
recommending that medical personnel receive training on the proper suit up and removal of personal
protective equipment (PPE); in addition, a designated person, appropriately trained in biosafety,
should be watching each step of these procedures to ensure they are done correctly. The typical
training period for the use of such safety equipment lasted approximately 12 days in Sierra Leone.
The infected person should be in separated from other people. All equipment, medical waste, patient
waste and surfaces that may have come into contact with body fluids need to be disinfected. During
the 2014 outbreak, kits were put together to help families treat Ebola disease in their homes, which
include protective clothing as well as chlorine powder and other cleaning supplies. Education of those
who provide care in these techniques, and the establishment of such barrier separation supplies has
been a priority of Doctors without Borders.

An Analysis of A Forest Hymn by William Cullen Bryant
A Forest Hymn by William Cullen Bryant The poem A Forest Hymn talk of the origin of all the nature
that surrounds humanity and the activities of these naturally found objects. It gives an indication that
the source of all the nature that we see is God and He is the one who controls their actions in all
aspects and as to that, the poet implores the entire humanity to humble itself before the creator and
controller of nature and worship him, not necessarily in houses or in crowds as both of these are weak
and cannot stand before the might of the creator, but in natural settings. This poem is therefore widely
a statement of pantheism, which is a position that god and nature are the same. According to Matt
Slick, (2011) the word pantheism is derived from Greek words Pan meaning all and the other section
from theos meaning God. This then implies that all nature found in the universe, from the stars,
mountains, planets, wind, rain, storms are all part of what God is hence pantheists contest that God is
all and all nature is part of God. This should not be confused with the Christian perspective that God
created all nature but these are inferior to him and are in no way equal to him. This poem is generally
a pantheism statement exemplified since it equates nature to be having the same powers as God. The
poet indeed starts off by stating clearly that The groves were God s first temples. Ere man learned an
indication that if man is inferior to God, yet God used nature

Oriental Rug Research Paper
Oriental rugs are very beautiful and generally very expensive. If you have an oriental rug in your
home, you need to create a first aid kit for your rug. that way, if anything every gets spilled on your
beautiful and valuable oriental rug, you will have all the tools on hand to clean up the stain right away
before it sets in and ruins your rug. Here is what you need to put into your kit, and what it can be used
for. Cloth The first thing you want to put into your first aid oriental rug kit is some clean white clothes
that are very absorbent. Microfiber clothes are very absorbed and would make a great addition to your
kit. White clothes are better than colored cloth because you can see if the stain you are working on has
been absorbed. You ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once again, white is the preferred color so you can more easily see the stain you are trying to pick up.
You can use this to blot the stain. Eye Dropper The third thing you want to put into your kit is an eye
dropper. An eye dropper will allow you to apply whatever cleaning solution you are using in a very
precise manner. Due to the sensitive nature of oriental rugs, this tool will help you to only apply the
cleaning solution to the stain. Natural Enzyme Liquid Detergent The fourth thing you need is some
natural enzyme liquid detergent. A natural liquid detergent will be more gently on your oriental rug.
You can mix the natural liquid detergent with water, and use it to clean a wide variety of stains. You
can just put the detergent in there, or you can mix up a solution of natural detergent with water in a
spray bottle or container. White Vinegar Solution The fifth thing you need to do is create a white
vinegar solution. Mix together a solution that contains two parts of water to one part white vinegar.
This solution is very alkaline on stains. It works well on a wide variety of stains, and should be where
you head to next if simple water and soap does not remove the

Confederate Monuments And Confederate Monuments
Dead and Alive We think of the word history as a series of past events that were significant in the
making of the world we live in now. Along with history, came certain monuments that were built to
symbolize the history of our upcoming. A certain kind of monument in particular that has made our
world look at history in a negative way was the building of Confederate monuments. Confederate
monuments came in the 1960 s while the Civil War was occurring (PolitiFact, and Joy Reid MSNBC
Analyst. Did Confederate symbols proliferate in the civil rights era? @Politifact, 15 Aug. 2017). A
Confederate monument was built as a prospective for Southerners who had hope for white supremacy
(Parks, Miles. Confederate Statues Were Built To Further A White Supremacist Future . NPR, NPR, 20
Aug. 2017, www.npr.org/2017/08/20/544266880/confederate statues were built to further a white

support white supremacy because it causes our nation to remember a time when white supremacy was
the correct way of thinking. By taking down the Confederate monuments, we are allowing
discrimination to be taken away, to become one nation, and to get rid of white supremacy. Raise the
red, white, and blue flag that represents unity, not hatred, nor the support for white supremacy. In the

The Importance of Justice in the Roman Games Essay
The Importance of Justice in the Roman Games
On top of justice is being done, we need to look at the functions of the games from the Romans point
of view. As Thomas Wiedemann says simply to give way to our emotions is not enough (RB1, C11,
P.101). Wiedemann wanted us to understand the ancient Romans beliefs and customs in watching the
games. Based from my reading materials, it was not true as the Roman games were more than a
medium of public entertainment. In this essay, I will look at the various aspects in which the Roman
games were not only about justice, drawing on a variety of sources to support each claim.
Firstly, the Romans viewed the games as a form of entertainment. These ... Show more content on

Justice seems to be done as the Roman felt that these criminals deserved to die. Hence, it involved
more than justice. The emperor has spent a huge sum of money to build the Colosseum so as to attract
his people to watch the games. Ancient writer like Apuleius glorified the game shows as public
pleasure (RB1, C3, P.94). In other words, it possesses entertainment value for the Romans.
Thirdly, the games emphasized Roman power. It was a practical sign that Romans were proud of their
strength and stamina that made Rome great. To the Romans, it was a symbol of the ordered world, the
cosmos , and it was the emperor who was the guarantor of that order (RB1, C11, P.104). However,
Ciero s attitude towards gladiator shows was inhuman (RB1, C8, P.98). Thus, it was more to
encourage Romans cruelty and their courage shown at the games.
Fourthly, the games offered the brave a possibility of social rebirth. The Romans commended bravery
and a criminal gladiator may be granted life if he comes back alive as a victor. The symbolism of
public execution seemed to be deeply ingained in the Christian consciousness (RB1, C11, P101 107).
The decision to pardon brave and successful fighters was also a collective and popular one, according
to Wiedemann.
Next, the games acted as means of political networking (RB1, C4,

Abnormal Psychology And Oppression
Looking at the course title, Abnormal Psychology, I expected to learn about mental illnesses, including
the dynamics of schizophrenia and the perpetual spiral of depression. On the first day of class, I
realized that what would be discussed would be completely different from what I had expected.
Instead of what I had previously thought about individuals being abnormal, I had to shift my way of
thinking to question whether it was the people who were abnormal, or whether the society itself was
the problem. Through insightful readings, discussions, and lectures I have developed my own opinions
on the impact of oppression; how to think about mental disorders; and the system of the DSM,
psychiatry, and insurance systems. There is no real way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Culture is defined as the parts of individual identity one participates in by choice or force in the
society in which they live. Religion, wealth, and health are all cultures in the American society.
Oppression comes in forms such as racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, heterosexism, ableism,
ageism, religious prosecution, and so on. Marilyn Frye (2000) explains in her essay Oppression, that
the root of the word oppression is the element press, presses are used to mold or flatten things to
reduce them by squeezing them, something pressed is caught between forces and barriers which are so
related to each other that they restrain, restrict, or prevent the thing s mobility. (Frye, 2000, 11)
Oppression immobilizes, it stems from the misunderstanding of people of different cultures who see
others as deviant from the norm in their culture or the overall norm in society. For example, Joreen
(1968) writes in the Bitch Manifesto that the most prominent characteristic of all Bitches is that they
rudely violate conceptions of proper sex role behavior, the violation is different for each Bitch, but
they all violate them (Joreen, 1968, 1). People then generally feel uncomfortable around Bitches,
considering them aberrations, which leads the culture to create a dumping ground for all who they
deplore as bitchy and call them frustrated women. The same oppression that is subjected to bitches for
deviating from the norm is placed on all deviant groups within society, especially those who are
stigmatized with the label of having a mental health illness. And each mental health illness has its own
form of oppression, its own tag of stigma based on how severe (aka deviant) from the norm society
and different cultures consider it. For example, feeling godly is considered by the culture of religion to
be relatively normal or honorable, whereas by the rest of society

Essay on Dell Analysis
Dell Analysis
In spite of Dell s Direct Model strategy, the company had lost any price advantage it had over its
competitors. Dell also had an issue with channel inventory availability driven by the fact that their
competitors were attempting to replicate their strategy. This was a large threat to the organization
because they so heavily relied on just in time delivery of parts. Dell s competitors faced many
challenges to the direct distribution method, however. According to Exhibit 8 in the case ( Ratings of
PC Vendors by Corporate Mangers with PC buying Responsibility ), channel based support was rated
the lowest on all scales, showing that this was Dell s riskiest area as well.

Also, Dell did not have a price advantage over competitors despite their lower costs due to the Direct
Model. Finally, the firm did not have a large share of the foreign market, which has the highest growth
potential.
Value Chain Dell was more capable of maintaining the Direct Model strategy than most, if not all, of
its competitors. The resources that supported this advantage were the close relationship Dell had with
its suppliers, a solid just in time inventory management system, and proximity of warehouses and
production facilities to assembly operations. In addition, Dell s computers developed a reputation of
reliability and the company excelled at customer service. While the Direct Model seemed to challenge
competitors, many other companies were able to imitate Dell s reliability and customer service. Dell
attempted a cost leadership strategy although it s PC s and laptops were comparable in price to
competitors. Gateway was the cost leader in the industry and once trailed only Dell as the leader of
direct sales of computers to customers. Dell does offer computers that are customized to buyer
specifications so their computers are more custom than competitors. Very large customers who
purchased over $1 million in PC s made up 70% of the firms revenues. The firm would take a big
revenue hit if it lost these customers.

Objectivism and The Fountainhead Essay
Objectivism and The Fountainhead
How should we live our lives? Do you live for others or for yourself? What do you deem to be the
ideal: selflessness, or selfishness? Why? Ayn Rand s novel The Fountainhead addresses these issues
and her philosophy behind it called Objectivism. Her rebellious rhetoric is to convince us that the only
true virtue is selfishness and that we should abide by its standards and live for ourselves.
Ayn Rand was from the Soviet Union, and her background helps us to understand her rhetoric about
why she preached her philosophy. Born in Russia, and a hater of the revolution, Ayn Rand dreamed of
America as an Eden of individualism. When she got there becoming first a Cecil B de Mille extra,

The Objectivist states that this is the only world we can know. It is irrelevant if there is a heaven, or a
hell, or life elsewhere. We know what we do through our senses and reason. What we perceive with
our senses we know to be real (Garmong). Existence exists and the act of grasping that statement
implies two corollary axioms: that something exists which one perceive and that one exists possessing
consciousness, consciousness being the faculty of perceiving that which exists (Rand qtd. by Peikoff
1)
The second point addresses the idea that thinking is the path to knowledge. The Objectivist rejects the
idea, stated by Plato, that all we know is that we know nothing. Emotions, feelings, and premonitions
are not concrete and therefore are rejected as sources of knowledge. Concrete evidence dictates
certainty thus rationalizing knowledge (Garmong). The third point is the ethics of Objectivism:
rational selfishness and the pursuit of our own happiness. We are the beneficiaries of our own actions,
and we shouldn t let others dictate our lives (Garmong). Thought requires selfishness, the fundamental
selfishness of a rational faculty that places nothing above the integrity of its own function. A man
cannot think if he places something anything above his perception of reality (Rand qtd. by Peikoff 5).

New Madrid Earthquake Research Paper
The tea cups that began to shatter were enough to wake Rose M. Quinn from her bed in the early
morning hours of April 18, 1906. The earthquake that lasted just one minute was estimated to be close
to 8.0 on the richter scale and was large enough to destroy 30,000 buildings, including her own home,
in what was determined to be one of the most catastrophic natural disasters in U.S history. And while
Ms.Quinn held out hope that her City of the Golden West would restore its nearly 400 million dollars

The New Madrid Seismic Zone has remained relatively quiet in the last 2000 years, with the largest
earthquake only being rated a 6.3 on the richter scale, occurring in 1895. Since 1974, seismometers
have been utilized to capture earthquakes that are too small to notice, known as microearthquakes.
These microearthquakes have been recorded in numbers greater than 4,000 since 1975. These shocks
were first thought to be aftershocks of the earthquakes that occurred 165 years ago, but with the
exponential amount of recurrence, there is something rumbling deep in the earth s crust. Clearly, the

One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other Ones Analysis
Webster s dictionary defines a family as a group of people sharing a common ancestry . While some
families, such as those with bank robbers, drug dealers or users, and mass murderers are notorious and
other family members would like to forget about the non conformers, most people take pride in their
lineage. Ask almost anyone about their family and they will be sure to relate how many doctors,
lawyers, congressmen, etc. they have in their bloodline. You will probably see a strong connection

The Way Forward for Sainsbury
The Way Forward for Sainsbury Sainsbury has had a long history of business success, something that
it can continue for the foreseeable future if it maintains a cohesive business strategy, a strategy that is
rooted in a larger cohesive corporate vision. This paper examines some of the key factors that the
company must consider to be the foundation for a prosperous and profitable future. This analysis
demonstrates that Sainsbury s executives understand that not only does the company have to plan and
then put into effect good initiatives and good policies, but they have to sell the company s image as
one that its customers want to share. Sainsbury s sells itself successfully by (also successfully) selling
itself as a representative and purveyor of British values. The following analysis (including the
scorecard at the end) provides an overall explanation and justification for the measures suggested that
Sainsbury should take to achieve these indicators A content analysis of Sainsbury s annual reports as
well as statements made by Chief Executive Justin King reveals what the company plans for its future
in a way that is tacit, even coded. This should hardly be surprising: In nearly every act of human
verbal or written communication there are nuances of meaning that go unsaid but that can nevertheless
act as important signals between the parties and that can serve as equally as important as the explicit
messages. These tacit meanings can occur at the highest seats of power,

Nationalism Source Assimilation Eric Cope Analysis
Nationalism Source Interpretation Eric Cope
The author of source I is stating the thought that if you accomplish something and no one knows about
it it will be forgotten completely. Stories, songs, etc leave behind a legacy. An entity to remember
something that has passed. The same goes for nations, before the writing and the internet the only way
to pass on a record was with a story. If no one was told about the occurrence it would fade off into
nothingness. Whereas if told with a story even after you passed you could be remembered, leaving
behind a legacy. The tales we weave and share connect us as a people allowing things about us to live
longer than we do. This is heavily true when it comes to nations, many of their stories are known all
throughout the people. Such as Canada and Terry Fox. Terry passed in 1981 but is cause still lives on,
masses of Canadians know who Terry is and what he accomplished. Allowing his legacy to echo far
after he passed. He has become a symbol of Canada and it s nationalism. The author is saying that if
no one told each other about Terry his legacy would have faded to unimportance.
Source II is discussing about how interconnected religion and nationalism. The author states that no

Basic Rules Of Evidence Are No Different For Electronic...
General Requirements for Admissibility Generally, the rules of evidence are no different for electronic
records than for paper records. Medical records are first subject to the hearsay rule, which says that
any statement made out of court by a person not currently testifying is not admissible. However there
are a number of exceptions to this rule, one of which is the Business Records Rule. Medical records
are considered business records. For any business record to be admissible in a legal proceeding, it
must be properly authenticated. In the case of medical records, a sponsoring witness must normally
testify that the medical record meets certain conditions. Usually the sponsoring witness will be
someone who knows enough about your medical record procedures to testify about how they are
created and maintained. Computer print outs are often used when the evidence is stored electronically.
This is typical procedures for producing records from EHR or other electronic data systems.
Evidence in Electronic Form While the basic rules of evidence are the same for paper and electronic
records, there are several important differences. Compared to paper records, most courts consider
electronic records to be more voluminous, more difficult to destroy, easily modified, easily duplicated,
potentially more expressive, and more readily available. As a consequence, strict new rules were
enacted in December 2006 requiring the preservation and disclosure of electronically stored

Pros And Cons Of Holocaust Denial
Over 70 years ago, one of, if not the, darkest and most evil events in human history began. Starting in
1941 and ending in 1945, up to about 11 million people (including 6 million Jews), who were deemed
sub human by the Nazi regime of Germany, were systematically rounded up and exterminated by
various means. These means included but were not limited to gas chambers, deliberate starving, and
mass shootings carried out by paramilitary groups affiliated with the Nazis and SS (Schutzstaffel),
such as the Einsatzgruppen. The holocaust is one of the best documented events in history. Despite
this, many people choose to deny the holocaust. I will be disproving many of the arguments used by
holocaust deniers.
Holocaust denial is a vehicle for Neo Nazism and Nazi apology. Holocaust denial (often called
holocaust revisionism) is the belief that what we know as the holocaust (the systematic murder of
approximately 6 million Jews) is greatly exaggerated if not totally incorrect. Holocaust deniers believe
that the number of Jews killed is closer to approximately 500 000 and that they weren t deliberately
killed through means such as gas chambers or mass shootings but were killed (unintentionally) by
starvation, disease, and Allied bombing. Holocaust deniers deny the holocaust in an attempt to bring
the Nazi regime, and Hitler himself, into favourable light. To the relatively uninformed layman,
holocaust denial can sometimes appear to be an apolitical attempt to correct or revise

Rhetorical Analysis On Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai: The Young Advocate
The Nobel Peace Prize is an international prize that is awarded annually by the Norwegian Nobel

Malala was traveling home from school and she was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman. She was

Calculation Of Weighted Average Cost Of Capital Essay
Paper Outline The objective of this paper is to understand the process of calculation of weighted
average cost of capital(WACC), which is the core multiple used for discounting future cash flows of
an entity and calculating the intrinsic value of the company s stock. However, in this paper, we will
solely focus on the calculation of WACC and its component, the costs of equity and cost of debt. In
order to work with a pragmatic approach, we have selected Henkel AG, a German conglomerate active
in both consumer and industrial sector, and will estimate the WACC multiple of the said company.
However, in order to be more comprehensive in our approach, we will bifurcate our calculation in two
parts. While Part 1 will detail the cost of equity calculation and related assumption, Part 2 will discuss
the cost of debt calculations and related assumptions. The paper will be culminated with a succinct

your confidence levels in the past negotiations and what you ve done to address that weakness and
how you will continue to work on that weakness. I would also like to see your overall evaluation of
how you have negotiated with regards to specific negotiations (where you discuss the negotiation,
what happened, and how you performed. You can discuss what tactics you used, how they worked,
how your opponent responded, etc. Or were you right in your choice of strategy, about your strengths,
and about your opposition? If not, why not? Also, how does what you did or learned relate to your

The Radio Frequency Identification ( Rfid )
Introduction As technology advances, businesses use technology to improve the efficiency of their
operations. Such is the case with the Radio frequency identification (RFID) in the health care industry.
These devices are very affordable to acquire and are currently used to track resources, patients,
doctors and expensive equipment. RFID helps with the collection of information for patients with lack
of communication or people with serious conditions. (Hu, 2015) With hospitals finding different way
to attract new patients in, these devices also help hospitals save money on the management side to
keep them afloat. This advanced technology has great potential to improve patient experience in
healthcare by taking away human error out of the equation.
Literature Review RFID uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attach to
objects. These tags contain electronically stored information. The information can be read by RFID
readers and can only be read if they are within the line of sight of the reader. There are two types or
RFID tags; passive and active. Passive RFID relies on RF energy transferred from the reader to the tag
to power the tag. Active RFID uses an internal power source, such as a battery within the tag to
continuously power the tag and its RF communication circuitry. The information is transfer efficiently
and automatically without human intervention. (Yao, 2012) RFIDs can be used the 5 areas that are
considered to be where

William Bradford And John Winthrop
English settlements along the eastern seaboard later became the thirteen colonies which would form
the US. To establish a presence in North America, England relied on private trading companies, one in
particular, the Virginia Company, established the country s first permanent settlement in Jamestown,
Virginia, in 1607. Puritans, reformers who wished to purify the Church of England, settled in New
England but their efforts lacked success and some wanted to split from the church. Among those who
desired to split from the church were William Bradford and John Winthrop who both assisted in
bringing new settlers to the colonies. The Puritans values of hard work, thrift, and responsibility led to
thriving settlements and financial success.

Trope In Slaughterhouse Five
Similar to Hosseini, Vonnegut in his novel Slaughterhouse Five begets the Tralfamadorians who act as
the Hermit Guru. The Hermit Guru character trope could be described as a character who lives away
from society and contains powers/wisdom to bring enlightenment. As stated before the
Tralfamadorians fit this description. For example, Vonnegut states, Earth can t be detected from
Tralfamadore, as far as that goes. They re both very small. They re very far apart (Vonnegut 30). As
brought about by Vonnegut, the Tralfamadorians live away from society, so far that they do not even
live on planet Earth, just as the Hermit Guru character trope. In addition, for the enlightenment trait,
Vonnegut grants Tralfamadorians the ability to, see in four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Vonnegut explains how Billy is weak by comparing him to an insect. A Tralfamadorian explains to
Billy that, we are... trapped in the amber of this moment after asking Billy if [he] ever seen bugs
trapped in amber (Vonnegut 77). The Tralfamadorians are telling Billy that he is as helpless as a bug
encased in amber. Billy s outlandish admiration for his captors further proves Billy s weak
mindedness. The Tralfamadorians take advantage of Billy as he is so willing to accept their ideas.
Because of this, Billy embraces a sadistic ideology where nothing actually matters. For example,
Vonnegut grants Billy warrant to state, Now, when I myself hear that somebody is dead, I simply
shrug and say what the Tralfamadorians say about dead people, which is So it goes (Vonnegut 27).
Throughout the story the reader reads Billy say So it goes many times and it just means that Billy no
longer cares for life or the ones that he loves because he truly believes the person is just fine in plenty
of other moments (Vonnegut 27). The Tralfamadorians taught him to not care. Vonnegut s message is
to not just be an acolyte because what the higher power could be teaching you could be very harmful
to you and to others. Vonnegut uses the powerful Tralfamadorians to contrast the weak Billy and the
relationship acts as an example of the negative effects of following

The Louisiana Purchase Treaty
The Louisiana Purchase impacted the United States significantly. On April 30th of 1803, the Louisiana
Purchase Treaty was signed by Robert Livingston, James Monroe, and Barbe Marbois in Paris,
France. This was the territory that France sold to the United States.1 Both the agriculture and the
economy got substantially boosted due to this territory. The Louisiana Purchase had an impact on the
United States agriculturally, economically, and to advance imperialistic goals. Spain originally
claimed this territory but it was also claimed by France who owned it from 1699 to 1762 until they
gave it to Spain. Spain, who defeated France in the Seven Years War, took control of the territory west
of the Mississippi river. Then, in 1800 France took ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Farmers invented a way of curing this tobacco, that took over 18 months to finish. This finished
product was called perique. From sections of Louisiana came hogs, cattle, sheep, cotton, corn, rice,
vegetables, and even some fruits. There were also some people who earned their living by raising
cattle and other livestock. Cattle provided beef and leather and sheep provided mutton and wool as
well as fur trade from game.5
With a rise in crops also came a rise in the economy. More crops meant more items to sell and trade.
America s economy ranks number one in the world.6 But it wasn t just crops that impacted the
economy. It was elements and minerals too. Elements and minerals such as coal, copper, lead,
phosphates, uranium, gold, iron, mercury, nickel, silver, tungsten, zinc, petroleum, natural gas, and
timber for building. The United States has the largest coal reserve in the world. This accounts for 27
percent of the world s total.7 Capital goods are approximately 28 percent of America s earnings.
Consumer goods are 12 percent, vehicles nine point four, food eight point six, fuel seven point six,
aircraft six, and miscellaneous is four. The United States are organized into six major divisions:
Transportation, lumbering, agriculture, general trade and commerce, organized labor, and the modem

My Personal Philosophy Of Nursing
All nurses have similar rigorous educational backgrounds, but that does not mean that they all have
the same method of provide nursing care. Rather each person s individual perspective and philosophy
of nursing is unique to his or hers own values, culture, religion and ethnicity. Throughout this paper I
will discuss what I believe nursing is and my philosophy of providing care. Nursing is a world full of
complexity whose future lies within human compassion, and this paper will discuss the importance of
that. My personal philosophy of nursing is viewed in an abstract perspective, where I believe nursing
is a balance between science and art. With nurses as painters, I will discuss how we interact with our
canvas, the environment. Afterwards, I will take you to discover the importance of keeping our artistic
supply, health, in equilibrium to provide care to others. But, every artist needs inspiration, so I will
discuss how people stand as our growing ground. Once the basics of the painter, the canvas, the
artistic supplies, and inspiration have been brought to the spotlight I will discuss how education
contributes to patient advocacy. The last aspect of my personal philosophy of nursing will look at how
nurses administer accountable, skillful, and responsible care and how we contribute to research.

philosophy we become baffled, for we have definitely heard the word before

Literacy Is The Way We Identify With And Comprehend The World
Literacy, in my eyes, is the way we identify with and comprehend the world and the various works of
literary value. From the beginning of my existence, I believe my literacy has compounded upon itself
to bring me to my present state. I will measure my different literacy stages in parallel with the type of
schooling I went through (i.e. elementary, middle, and high school). As my literary power grew, the
significance at which it held to me personally, also rose. Therefore, I will be measuring the direct
relationship between the significance and power of my personal literacy. Within the time frame of my
elementary school years, I was able to develop the basic foundation for a long lasting literacy skill.
Directing the attention towards reading, I can trace those roots back to the days of early computer
games. For example, when I was a wee lad, I did not have a computer at my house, so I went to my
grandma s house and used her computer. While on the computer I discovered a little game by the
name of Putt Putt. The game involved the following of Putt Putt, a tiny purple car, and his crusade to
save those who are in troublesome situations such as losing their shovel. The experience initiated the
way I read as it engaged me in a fun and interesting way to understand a story while also learning key
words and effectively creating a comprehension. The little snippets of plot allowed me to read along
with the narrator, as well as providing some sections where critical thinking

Rembrandt s Christ In The Storm On The Sea Of Galilee
A painting captures a single moment. Most of the time, the audience does not see what happens before
and after the moment of the piece, but Rembrandt s Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee is his
depiction of Mark 4:35:39, a story that most children learn in Sunday School. Mark 4:35 36 tells the
moments before the storm: On that day, when evening had come, He told them, Let s cross over to the
other side of the sea. So they left the crowd and took Him along since He was already in the boat. And
other boats were with Him (The Bible). Rembrandt fabricates the scene of verse 37 and 38: A fierce
windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being
swamped. But He was in the stern, sleeping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, he works with a variety of shades of black within the murky storm clouds. Raetta Parker
notes, Black is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown and denotes strength (Parker).
For this purpose, Rembrandt uses the storm to symbolize the hard times, or storms , in a person s life.
In this case, the strength of the storm is overpowering the boat, making it hard for the disciples to keep
the boat from being destroyed and overtaken. By looking at the picture, the storm has cause one of the
riggings to break free from the boat and tore the sail, not standing a chance against the strong winds
the storm is throwing at them. Also, the dark colors of the overcast prevent the disciples from being
able to see the shores. There is no place for the disciples to dock the boat until the storm passes by,
stuck in the middle of the storm Comparing the painting to life s challenges, people can often be
broken emotionally or physically, whether it may be a death of a loved one or having to face a
terminal illness. They can feel as if, like the disciples, all alone with nowhere to escape to safety.
Whatever situation one may face, it can be overpowering and seems as if there is no hope in

  • 2. Forgetfulness Billy Collins Poem Essay: Forgetfulness by Billy Collins A feeling that disturbs people most of the time is the feeling of forgetfulness. This is because people are struggling to remember something they cannot remember, therefore it puts a person in distress. In Forgetfulness , Billy Collins uses imagery to warn the reader of the dangers and risks he might take if he does not pay attention to everything that happens in his life. In his poem, Collins uses imagery to remind the reader of what it feels like when someone is struggling to remember [something] and how a person cannot recall the specific memory that was lost because it is not poised on the tip of [his] tongue . It happens to be a well known fact when people forget anything, especially at the wrong time, it turns people from a state of calmness to a state of panic. This is because he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consider this in relation to growing up. Part of growing up is learning how to handle certain situations, specifically emergency situations. However, many people assume that those types of situations rarely happen, especially to themselves. For instance, a five year old boy does not want to learn how to swim because he says he will stay on dry land his entire life. As the years go by, he forgets about not wanting to swim. One day he is drafted into the navy, his ship is attacked and sinks, and the next thing he knows, he drown because of the fact that he refused to learn how to swim. This example shows he has ended up like those who have forgotten how to swim , in other words he died like those who died from drowning. The man who drowned would not have suffered his fate if he had paid attention to the swimming lessons his parents made him take. By listening to the poet s warning of being in distress, the reader has the ability to prevent by remembering past lessons like this from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The two countries fought together as allies in World War II but toward the end of the War the two nations competing ideologies and visions of the post War prevented them from working together. The Cold War was by far the biggest threat to human existence the world has ever seen, although their was never any declaration of War between the two competing nations, the Soviet Union and the United States both had weapons of mass destruction, that was capable of destroying human life as we know today. From the end of World War II up until the collapse of the Soviet Union the two nations competed in expanding their spheres of influence throughout the world. By 1960 Communism had maintained a high degree of focus, coordination, discipline, and strategic coherence in spreading its ideologies throughout the world, the West seemed to be quite the opposite. In discussing the Cold War throughout this period, you will catch a glimpse of the various events that put the united states and the West on the defensive against communism. At the end of World War II Stalin s post War vision involved defying the U.S and creating buffer zones between the Soviet Bloc and Germany. In creating this buffer zone the Soviet Union created Communist friendly governments throughout Eastern Europe. The spread of Communism in Eastern Europe created a division between Eastern and ... Olson (2003) observed that the poor data quality resulted from the rapid growth of information system technology and the prompt evolution in system implementation and frequent changes that complicate and hamper the quality control process [44]. According to C. Boulton (2016), 57.5% of poor data are caused by users, followed by 47% caused by data migration and integration, which usually lead to gaps or duplicate information, and 43.5% caused by changes to source systems (Figure 5) [45]. Figure 5: Causes of poor data quality [45] Jack E. Olson (2003) defined data quality as data that are linked to their fit for use. In other words, high data quality is obtained when the data fulfill the requirements and the criteria of its intended usage. In contrast, poor quality results when the data do not fulfil their requirements [44]. 3.3 Dimensions of Data Quality In previous research, data quality was divided into two main categories: intrinsic and contextual. In the intrinsic category, value resides within the data, which refers to objective attributes. In the contextual category, the attributes of the data mainly depend on the context in which the data are present, used, as well as the situation or problem. • 7. The Consequences Of The Bombing Of Hiroshima Bombing Hiroshima August 6th, 1945, 2:45, United States, Enola Gay departs America carrying the most destructive bomb ever created. The horrid World War II would eventually end due to this, but in the process some 210,000 innocent lives were lost in Hiroshima due to the deadly weapon. (Garner 3 4). Although the bombing of Hiroshima ended World War II, it was unquestionably an awful way of doing it. Ten of thousands of people died, a whole city was destroyed, and the after fact of the radiation lasted for years after the initial blast. The war with Germany had already came to an end due to the strength of the allies, but Japan wouldn t give up. War with Japan drug on, even though Japan was outnumbered. This proved that a bloody end was the only route to take. America understood that the country with the highest amount of technological warfare and least casualties was going to win. The whole war the United States used high tec bombs and planes, but nothing compared to what was to come. The atomic bomb was the way of meeting those needs. The atomic bomb had never and to this day, has never been used in combat (Miner 2 4). The United States felt that Japan brought this upon themselves by bombing Pearl Harbor in 1941, bringing us into World War II, and not giving up (Garner 4). When deciding where to drop the bomb, it was obvious that Hiroshima was a key place. Being flat, the bomb radiation would spread causing more damage (Stover 4). Also, Hiroshima was a Japanese army based, so if this didn t cause the end of the war, many of the enemy s supplies would be ruined. (Garner 4). Three days after the bombing another atomic bomb was dropped on another Japanese town, Nagasaki. This bomb was a lot less famous as Hiroshima, but it was also very destructive and deadly. No one would ever imagined the extent of these awful weapons. The Manhattan Project, was the name given to attentive project by the head scientist on the project, Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer. None of these key features to a film could have any substance or feeling without the help of music. Composers play a big role for setting the tone of the movie, developing characters, moving along or supporting action, and depicting the time and place the movie is taking place. In the movie Heat, Elliot Goldenthal does just that. Goldenthal was born in NY in 1954 and studied music under John Corigliano and Aaron Copeland. At the end of the movie Robert De Niro s character is trying to escape the country with the girl while Al Pacino s character is right on his tail. There is a moment when De Niro realizes he cannot make it out with the girl and in and unspoken stare he leaves. The music matches the feeling of the moment using long drown out chords creating that sense a wanting and loss. As Pacino chases De Niro through a field the music stops to intensify the action and set up the final scene. The music fades back in shortly before Pacino shoots De Niro. The music carries into a high key riff that is repeated with strings playing four tones slowly behind the keys. The music grows louder adding more instruments such as large cymbals and carries into the credits. Goldenthal s score was replaced in the final scene with Moby s God Moving Over the Face of the Water. Director Michael Mann felt that Moby s music better represented a feeling of relief, that it was over, that Pacino finally got his guy. At the same time the music related the two characters. The Is Overused And Controls Society Essay Medicalization is Overused and Controls Society In recent times, the concept of treatment for diseases that are either perceived or real has appeared to become more complex. There has been a great deal of development in the way diseases are prevented and treated. There are all manner of mechanisms and schemes that allegedly cover one from future diseases along the path of imagination such as insurance schemes. One cannot just bury their loved one without receiving a death certificate as permission to proceed with burial plans. King Alfred the Great Essay King Alfred the Great King Alfred the Great was born at Wantage, in 849, on a royal manor of his father s holding, a family estate which long afterward he himself would leave in legacy to his wife. Alfred was the youngest of five children, four sons and a daughter, born to Ethelwulf by his wife Osburh. When Alfred was four years old, his father, the king, who by now had long despaired of getting to Rome in the present state of things, decided to send Alfred there, to at least receive the blessing of the Holy Father. The pope at the time, Leo the IV, gave Alfred the blessing to become king. Alfred s time came in the year mid April 871, when King Æthelred died. He also attacked the Danish held City of London in an attempt to diminish the lands ruled under Dane law (Bruce 4). No Anglo Saxon king was ever strong enough to coerce a recalcitrant peasantry. Except Alfred who decided to allow half the men liable for service to remain at home while the other half was out against the Danes (Stenton 261). In order for Alfred to keep peace and defeat the Danes, he had to win many major battles. On Easter Sunday 878, when King Alfred withdrew into the Isle of Athelney, there was every likelihood that before the end of the year Wessex would have been divided out among the members of the Danish army. King Alfred made sure that Wessex would escape that fate. Although Alfred did lose a major battle against the Danes only four years ago, he overcame them in 878 when he won the Battle of Edington. Alfred showed strong resistance by constantly engaging Danish raiding parties from his base in Athelney. After nearly seven weeks of strong battles, Alfred was able to begin defeating the Danes (Stenton 253). Along with Alfred s idea of coercing a recalcitrant peasantry, he had other ways of defeating the Danes as well. Alfred began building warships in order to develop a navy. The ships in which Alfred built were twice as long as those which they were intended to meet (Stenton 253). These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. An Analysis of A Forest Hymn by William Cullen Bryant A Forest Hymn by William Cullen Bryant The poem A Forest Hymn talk of the origin of all the nature that surrounds humanity and the activities of these naturally found objects. It gives an indication that the source of all the nature that we see is God and He is the one who controls their actions in all aspects and as to that, the poet implores the entire humanity to humble itself before the creator and controller of nature and worship him, not necessarily in houses or in crowds as both of these are weak and cannot stand before the might of the creator, but in natural settings. This poem is therefore widely a statement of pantheism, which is a position that god and nature are the same. According to Matt Slick, (2011) the word pantheism is derived from Greek words Pan meaning all and the other section from theos meaning God. This then implies that all nature found in the universe, from the stars, mountains, planets, wind, rain, storms are all part of what God is hence pantheists contest that God is all and all nature is part of God. This should not be confused with the Christian perspective that God created all nature but these are inferior to him and are in no way equal to him. This poem is generally a pantheism statement exemplified since it equates nature to be having the same powers as God. The poet indeed starts off by stating clearly that The groves were God s first temples. Ere man learned an indication that if man is inferior to God, yet God used nature ... The Importance of Justice in the Roman Games Essay The Importance of Justice in the Roman Games On top of justice is being done, we need to look at the functions of the games from the Romans point of view. As Thomas Wiedemann says simply to give way to our emotions is not enough (RB1, C11, P.101). Wiedemann wanted us to understand the ancient Romans beliefs and customs in watching the games. Based from my reading materials, it was not true as the Roman games were more than a medium of public entertainment. In this essay, I will look at the various aspects in which the Roman games were not only about justice, drawing on a variety of sources to support each claim. Firstly, the Romans viewed the games as a form of entertainment. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Justice seems to be done as the Roman felt that these criminals deserved to die. Hence, it involved more than justice. The emperor has spent a huge sum of money to build the Colosseum so as to attract his people to watch the games. Ancient writer like Apuleius glorified the game shows as public pleasure (RB1, C3, P.94). In other words, it possesses entertainment value for the Romans. Thirdly, the games emphasized Roman power. It was a practical sign that Romans were proud of their strength and stamina that made Rome great. To the Romans, it was a symbol of the ordered world, the cosmos , and it was the emperor who was the guarantor of that order (RB1, C11, P.104). However, Ciero s attitude towards gladiator shows was inhuman (RB1, C8, P.98). Thus, it was more to encourage Romans cruelty and their courage shown at the games. Fourthly, the games offered the brave a possibility of social rebirth. The Romans commended bravery and a criminal gladiator may be granted life if he comes back alive as a victor. The symbolism of public execution seemed to be deeply ingained in the Christian consciousness (RB1, C11, P101 107). The decision to pardon brave and successful fighters was also a collective and popular one, according to Wiedemann. Next, the games acted as means of political networking (RB1, C4, ... Religion, wealth, and health are all cultures in the American society. Oppression comes in forms such as racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, heterosexism, ableism, ageism, religious prosecution, and so on. Marilyn Frye (2000) explains in her essay Oppression, that the root of the word oppression is the element press, presses are used to mold or flatten things to reduce them by squeezing them, something pressed is caught between forces and barriers which are so related to each other that they restrain, restrict, or prevent the thing s mobility. (Frye, 2000, 11) Oppression immobilizes, it stems from the misunderstanding of people of different cultures who see others as deviant from the norm in their culture or the overall norm in society. For example, Joreen (1968) writes in the Bitch Manifesto that the most prominent characteristic of all Bitches is that they rudely violate conceptions of proper sex role behavior, the violation is different for each Bitch, but they all violate them (Joreen, 1968, 1). People then generally feel uncomfortable around Bitches, considering them aberrations, which leads the culture to create a dumping ground for all who they deplore as bitchy and call them frustrated women. The same oppression that is subjected to bitches for deviating from the norm is placed on all deviant groups within society, especially those who are stigmatized with the label of having a mental health illness. And each mental health illness has its own form of oppression, its own tag of stigma based on how severe (aka deviant) from the norm society and different cultures consider it. We know what we do through our senses and reason. What we perceive with our senses we know to be real (Garmong). Existence exists and the act of grasping that statement implies two corollary axioms: that something exists which one perceive and that one exists possessing consciousness, consciousness being the faculty of perceiving that which exists (Rand qtd. by Peikoff 1) The second point addresses the idea that thinking is the path to knowledge. The Objectivist rejects the idea, stated by Plato, that all we know is that we know nothing. Emotions, feelings, and premonitions are not concrete and therefore are rejected as sources of knowledge. The same goes for nations, before the writing and the internet the only way to pass on a record was with a story. If no one was told about the occurrence it would fade off into nothingness. General Requirements for Admissibility Generally, the rules of evidence are no different for electronic records than for paper records. Medical records are first subject to the hearsay rule, which says that any statement made out of court by a person not currently testifying is not admissible. However there are a number of exceptions to this rule, one of which is the Business Records Rule. Medical records are considered business records. For any business record to be admissible in a legal proceeding, it must be properly authenticated. In the case of medical records, a sponsoring witness must normally testify that the medical record meets certain conditions. Usually the sponsoring witness will be someone who knows enough about your medical record procedures to testify about how they are created and maintained. Computer print outs are often used when the evidence is stored electronically. This is typical procedures for producing records from EHR or other electronic data systems. Evidence in Electronic Form While the basic rules of evidence are the same for paper and electronic records, there are several important differences. Compared to paper records, most courts consider electronic records to be more voluminous, more difficult to destroy, easily modified, easily duplicated, potentially more expressive, and more readily available. Starting in 1941 and ending in 1945, up to about 11 million people (including 6 million Jews), who were deemed sub human by the Nazi regime of Germany, were systematically rounded up and exterminated by various means. These means included but were not limited to gas chambers, deliberate starving, and mass shootings carried out by paramilitary groups affiliated with the Nazis and SS (Schutzstaffel), such as the Einsatzgruppen. The holocaust is one of the best documented events in history. Despite this, many people choose to deny the holocaust. I will be disproving many of the arguments used by holocaust deniers. Holocaust denial is a vehicle for Neo Nazism and Nazi apology. Holocaust denial (often called holocaust revisionism) is the belief that what we know as the holocaust (the systematic murder of approximately 6 million Jews) is greatly exaggerated if not totally incorrect. Holocaust deniers believe that the number of Jews killed is closer to approximately 500 000 and that they weren t deliberately killed through means such as gas chambers or mass shootings but were killed (unintentionally) by starvation, disease, and Allied bombing. Holocaust deniers deny the holocaust in an attempt to bring the Nazi regime, and Hitler himself, into favourable light. • 40. Calculation Of Weighted Average Cost Of Capital Essay Paper Outline The objective of this paper is to understand the process of calculation of weighted average cost of capital(WACC), which is the core multiple used for discounting future cash flows of an entity and calculating the intrinsic value of the company s stock. However, in this paper, we will solely focus on the calculation of WACC and its component, the costs of equity and cost of debt. In order to work with a pragmatic approach, we have selected Henkel AG, a German conglomerate active in both consumer and industrial sector, and will estimate the WACC multiple of the said company. However, in order to be more comprehensive in our approach, we will bifurcate our calculation in two parts. While Part 1 will detail the cost of equity calculation and related assumption, Part 2 will discuss the cost of debt calculations and related assumptions. The paper will be culminated with a succinct conclusion over the WACC calculation and how the same will be used further for valuation purpose. Important to note, all the data used in this paper will be sourced from credible financial websites in order to provide high level of authenticity to our work. Part 1: Cost of Equity Calculation Cost of equity is the required rate of return on the firm s common stock. In other words, it is the fair return which the equity investors expect from the company for bearing the risk involved in the equity investment. • 42. The Radio Frequency Identification ( Rfid ) Introduction As technology advances, businesses use technology to improve the efficiency of their operations. Such is the case with the Radio frequency identification (RFID) in the health care industry. These devices are very affordable to acquire and are currently used to track resources, patients, doctors and expensive equipment. RFID helps with the collection of information for patients with lack of communication or people with serious conditions. (Hu, 2015) With hospitals finding different way to attract new patients in, these devices also help hospitals save money on the management side to keep them afloat. This advanced technology has great potential to improve patient experience in healthcare by taking away human error out of the equation. Literature Review RFID uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attach to objects. These tags contain electronically stored information. The information can be read by RFID readers and can only be read if they are within the line of sight of the reader. There are two types or RFID tags; passive and active. Passive RFID relies on RF energy transferred from the reader to the tag to power the tag. Active RFID uses an internal power source, such as a battery within the tag to continuously power the tag and its RF communication circuitry. The information is transfer efficiently and automatically without human intervention. (Yao, 2012) RFIDs can be used the 5 areas that are considered to be where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Hermit Guru character trope could be described as a character who lives away from society and contains powers/wisdom to bring enlightenment. As stated before the Tralfamadorians fit this description. For example, Vonnegut states, Earth can t be detected from Tralfamadore, as far as that goes. They re both very small. They re very far apart (Vonnegut 30). As brought about by Vonnegut, the Tralfamadorians live away from society, so far that they do not even live on planet Earth, just as the Hermit Guru character trope. The Tralfamadorians are telling Billy that he is as helpless as a bug encased in amber. Billy s outlandish admiration for his captors further proves Billy s weak mindedness. The Tralfamadorians take advantage of Billy as he is so willing to accept their ideas. Because of this, Billy embraces a sadistic ideology where nothing actually matters. For example, Vonnegut grants Billy warrant to state, Now, when I myself hear that somebody is dead, I simply shrug and say what the Tralfamadorians say about dead people, which is So it goes (Vonnegut 27). Throughout the story the reader reads Billy say So it goes many times and it just means that Billy no longer cares for life or the ones that he loves because he truly believes the person is just fine in plenty of other moments (Vonnegut 27). The Tralfamadorians taught him to not care. Vonnegut s message is to not just be an acolyte because what the higher power could be teaching you could be very harmful to you and to others. • 47. Literacy Is The Way We Identify With And Comprehend The World Literacy, in my eyes, is the way we identify with and comprehend the world and the various works of literary value. From the beginning of my existence, I believe my literacy has compounded upon itself to bring me to my present state. I will measure my different literacy stages in parallel with the type of schooling I went through (i.e. elementary, middle, and high school). As my literary power grew, the significance at which it held to me personally, also rose. Therefore, I will be measuring the direct relationship between the significance and power of my personal literacy. Within the time frame of my elementary school years, I was able to develop the basic foundation for a long lasting literacy skill. Directing the attention towards reading, I can trace those roots back to the days of early computer games. For example, when I was a wee lad, I did not have a computer at my house, so I went to my grandma s house and used her computer. While on the computer I discovered a little game by the name of Putt Putt. The game involved the following of Putt Putt, a tiny purple car, and his crusade to save those who are in troublesome situations such as losing their shovel. The experience initiated the way I read as it engaged me in a fun and interesting way to understand a story while also learning key words and effectively creating a comprehension. The little snippets of plot allowed me to read along with the narrator, as well as providing some sections where critical thinking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Rembrandt s Christ In The Storm On The Sea Of Galilee A painting captures a single moment. Most of the time, the audience does not see what happens before and after the moment of the piece, but Rembrandt s Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee is his depiction of Mark 4:35:39, a story that most children learn in Sunday School. Mark 4:35 36 tells the moments before the storm: On that day, when evening had come, He told them, Let s cross over to the other side of the sea. So they left the crowd and took Him along since He was already in the boat. And other boats were with Him (The Bible). Rembrandt fabricates the scene of verse 37 and 38: A fierce windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. But He was in the stern, sleeping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, he works with a variety of shades of black within the murky storm clouds. Raetta Parker notes, Black is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown and denotes strength (Parker). For this purpose, Rembrandt uses the storm to symbolize the hard times, or storms , in a person s life. In this case, the strength of the storm is overpowering the boat, making it hard for the disciples to keep the boat from being destroyed and overtaken. By looking at the picture, the storm has cause one of the riggings to break free from the boat and tore the sail, not standing a chance against the strong winds the storm is throwing at them. Also, the dark colors of the overcast prevent the disciples from being able to see the shores. There is no place for the disciples to dock the boat until the storm passes by, stuck in the middle of the storm Comparing the painting to life s challenges, people can often be broken emotionally or physically, whether it may be a death of a loved one or having to face a terminal illness.
