The poem Sonrisas by Pat Mora is a known poem, about a bicultural woman who finds herself living
in two separate worlds, she stands in the middle of a doorway because she can t seem to fit into either
one of the worlds being a bicultural character. Pat Mora, the author, is a successful poet who was born
in El Paso Texas, she grew up being the oldest of 4 children in a bicultural home. Pat was a former

Woman are dressed in faded dresses (line 11)this imagery is used to show that the women are less
professional and in a lower class than the woman in the first room. They stir sweet milk coffee ( line
11 and 12) and shush each other from laughing, although they are joyful they still try to contain
themselves to maintain their cultural idea of always being serious. As Pat uses more complex imagery
like steam from fresh tamales she appeals to the human sense taste to represent that she s feeling a
little more homeliness and at ease. The author separates the two worlds to ensure the audience
understands that in the second room there is more togetherness and the woman are more in tuned and
enjoy each other s company more than the first room where the woman are more stern and
independent. A difference in the woman s eyes are mentioned unlike the first room the woman trap

Why Colleges Show Their Students With A s Brent Staples...
In the essay Why Colleges Shower Their Students with A s Brent Staples argued that all the scholars
are getting high emblems they don t deserve ( Why Colleges Shower Their Students ). According to
him, there are several reasons behind this increasing A s. Staples focuses on the fact that getting an A
for any class was so complicated that only cum laude students were worth getting those grades, which
gave them a very high and esteemed value. But in this modern era, good grades have lost the real
value. The quantity of students getting an A grade is increasing day by day. With the advent of
establishment of new colleges every year, the competition has raised among them. Competing with
others is the nature of every creature, whether it is for food, shelter or anything else. In case of human
beings the level of competition is beyond simple things. They compete for everything in their life.
Even a small virtual game played on mobile phone is taken as a great deal of competition. And when
the competition comes to be about the money and the reputation, people can go to any level to win it.
Colleges compete on several levels in order to attract the student. Showering with A s is one of the
fortes taken by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When all these come with a shortcut formula, people will defiantly want it. If they can get A s without
any hardship why wouldn t they want it? Of course they will. Additionally, students who face high
debts for their college loans require high grades in order to guarantee future employment to pay off
their loans. Thus, grade appeal processes have become very lenient over the past several years, which
weaken the ability of educators to issue fair grades. Due to this benefit, they look forward to get
enrolled in the college which guarantee their A s. As nobody in their wildest dream, would dream to
suffer the agony given by low college

Deidara s Narrative Fiction
Deidara laid comfortably under the soft midnight colored blankets that were spread across his bed. A
few red clouds with a white outline were patterned here and there. It was the iconic symbol of their
criminal organization, the Akatsuki, which in translation means Crimson Dawn. The blonde held a
pillow closely to his chest, and nuzzled the soft fabric against his cheek. It was such a peaceful
morning for him, which was unusual in contrast to all the hard working S Ranked missions he had to
do, ever since he was forced into this organization. And to top it all off, he was partnered with a
grouchy old man with no respect for his art. All of the members had a shared room together, like on a
campus each with separate beds. The was not

Research Paper On Latin Dance Fiesta
Latin Dance Fiesta
On Saturday, April 22, 2017, I attended a Latin Dance Fiesta event at the Queens Theatre, the event
featured Sisa Pakari Danza Ecuador, Ballet Folclórico del Salvador, Ballet Folklórico Paraguayo and
Bombazo Dance Company. The show started with Sisa Pakari Danza Ecuador with an Andean song
dedicated to Pacha Mama/Mother Earth, this song is to thank the earth for a good harvest. The dancers
were wearing traditional garments, the women artists had embroidered white blouses (camisas),
shawls (rebozos), black wrap skirts (anakus), gold colored bead necklaces (walkas) and red bead
bracelets (maki watana), with their hair wrapped up in strips of woven cloth (cintas). Male artists were
wearing sport dapper blue ponchos (ruwanas) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This song is well known in el Salvador since it is usually presented at cultural activities. The dancers
wore typical costumes, with the women dressed in white with colorful embroidered shirts and skirts,
and men wore traditional pants and embroidered shirts.
The third dance company to follow onto the stage was Ballet Folklórico Paraguayo. The group,
performed by four female dancers, moved at the rhythms of the Paraguayan polka which combines
ternary and binary rhythms, whereas the European form only uses binary. The announcer informed
that, the most famous style of music in Paraguay is Guarania, created by the Paraguayan musician
José Asunción Flores in 1926. The Guarania accomplishes this by using a combination of slow
rhythms and melodies of melancholia character. The dancers were wearing traditional full pleated
skirts decorated with lace, their blouses were worn off the shoulder and the sleeves were made of lace.
The body of their blouses were embroidered in red, white and blue which are the colors of the
Paraguayan flag, I also noticed that their hair was worn up and their jewelry was of silver and coral
color. In my opinion, this was one of the most impressive group of dancers of the event, because the
performers presented the dance of

Bootlegger In The Great Gatsby
Niki Huang Mr. Torgerson English 3 10 May 2015 Songs of America Essay He s a bootlegger, said the
young ladies, moving somewhere between his cocktails and his flowers. One time he killed a man
who had found out that he was nephew to von Hindenburg and second cousin to the devil (Fitzgerald
63). In Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, many rumors surrounded Gatsby. Some said he was a German
spy, a relative of the Kaiser, an Oggsford man, a great war hero, and a killer. One of Gatsby s guest,
Owl Eyes, even says that Gatsby didn t exist. Among all these rumors, the one about how Gatsby was
a bootlegger was true, and more, he was also involved with the man who fixed the World Series,
Wolfsheim. His business through bootlegging corrupted the American Dream s ethic of hard work and
integrity, and thus Gatsby s illegal business practices frightened his American Dream, the Golden Girl,
Daisy away. During the 1920s Prohibition, bootleggers such as Gatsby, were common, and

Arguments Against Circular Reasoning
Logic, as most people know, is the art and science of reasoning well. Studied logicians use facts to
craft clear, convincing arguments that support various positions. Correct arguments state reliable facts
or premises, as some call them and then draw a conclusion based on those facts. Only a single error in
an argument can bring the whole thing crashing down, which causes the debater to lose both the point
and part of their reputability. Circular reasoning has become one fault that occurs far too often.
Dictionary.com, which research shows as a reputable website, defines circular reasoning as a use of
reason in which the premises depends on or is equivalent to the conclusion, a method of false logic by
which this is used to prove that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, it requires circular reasoning in order for the text to so prove itself. Since the
unreliability of circular logic is obvious, it follows that the truth of the Bible cannot be trusted. So
what? The basic faith of Christianity becomes unstable when the Word of God becomes untrustworthy.
Entire lives will fall apart and hundreds of people will become unstable and confused, and all because
they put faith in an unreliable document. Why does that matter to me?All humans instinctively know
not to follow something that they cannot trust, but many refuse to obey these instincts when it comes
to religion. People should begin to think and realize the foolhardiness of a conservative Christian faith
that heavily relies on the infallibility of the Bible, for if the Bible cannot be trusted, then they have
wasted their lives on a fool s errand. Whether a Creator exists or not, human lives clearly have worth,
and people should not waste their short span of years in a mindless

Racism In To Kill A Mockingbird By Horton Foote
I know when I was a little I believed most of what I was told. I believe this could be said for most
people out there. To Kill a Mockingbird by Horton Foote has some similar things going for it. Jem
Finch a 10 year old boy and his 6 year old sister Scout (also referred to as Jean Louis) experience
situations where this is very relevant. The screenplay is set in Maycomb, Alabama in 1932. The town
is still fairly racist, this is really shown in a court case known as the Tom Robinson case. All in all the
Theme of To Kill a Mockingbird is do not believe everything you hear.
In the beginning of the screenplay Jem and Scout meet Dill (whose real name is Charles Baker Harris)
who is a 6 year old boy that seems to stretch the truth about his father. When the three of them first
meet Dill says that he does not have a father, but moments later he changes what he means saying My
daddy owns the L and N Railroad (Foote 10). If that does not seem a little questionable towards the
middle of the screenplay he changes what he says again. Dill says ... my daddy was a railroad man
until he got rich. Now he flies airplanes (Foote 47). The whole thing with him and his dad just seems
like it is exaggerated or made up after this point. Most might think that he makes this up because he
originally says that he does not know his father. This is very probable because after Dill says what his
dad, does he almost you could say fantasizes about his dad picking him up on a train or sweeping
down to

Where Tech Savvyness Ends And Where Being A Geek Begins
As we move further and further into a more technological age, lines begin to blur between where tech
savvyness ends and where being a Geek begins. I have been working with computers since I was 8
years old. I remember the good old days where I would sit there with my dad watching him play Zork
for hours on end. In fact that game is one of the reasons I started writing. This was in the mid to late
80 s and the machines had no hard drives and ran completely off of 5 1/4 inch floppy disk s. This was
all fun and games, but I didn t learn much from the experience. I did however learn to maneuver
through the DOS operating system as well as how to execute programs. My real experience didn t start
till around June of 1992. I live in the San Bernardino California area. If you know any history of the
area, in June 1992 there was a massive 7.3 earthquake that shook San Bernardino quite harshly.
Shopping malls all around the area had the roofs cave in. This was a great tragedy but for us a great
learning experience. Because of the earthquake the malls were forced to send all of their computer
equipment to the land fills for insurance purposes, wither they were damaged or not. This is where my
real experience started. My father brought home three PC s that looked more like junk than computers.
With a bit of elbow grease we were able to salvage parts from one of the PC s and get the other two
working. The obviously more powerful PC my dad decided to keep for himself and I got

How General Relativity Affects Humanity

General Relativity
General relativity affects people today, whether they are an astronaut or a zoologist. To understand
general relativity, one must know how spacetime works, how black holes affect it, and how it affects
humanity.
General relativity is the idea that everything is made out of spacetime and that mass affects spacetime.
One way to describe spacetime is by using a metaphor of a rubber sheet. The metaphor goes like this:
a rubber sheet is stretched between two boards. A ball placed on it would bend the rubber sheet.
Spacetime is like that rubber sheet and the ball is anything of mass. A ball placed on the rubber sheet
would roll towards the mass, which stimulates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because bent spacetime takes longer to climb, time passes slower the closer we are to mass. This is
not related to gravity, it is purely time itself being affected. For example, if one were standing on top
of Mount Snowdon, it would only take 1/10^14 of a second less time to drink a cup of tea than it
would at sea level (Stannard 83 89, Chaisson 39, Hawking 86 92).
The more things pull on you, the longer things take to happen. This can be very extreme, for example,
if one was standing on top of a black hole it would take infinitely long for one to die even though
someone watching would see her or him die instantaneously. This is again caused by the warping of
spacetime, and that black holes warp spacetime enough to extend time to a standstill (Hawking 147
151, 160).
Although black holes are seen as a gap in space from a distance, they are not actually black as the
name implies: they give off light from absorbing hydrogen and helium. The cloud of hydrogen and
helium surrounds the black holes, which is often joined by nearby stars and planets. These clouds are
proof of black holes being almost the reverse of a normal star: instead of creating matter to make
energy, they destroy matter to make energy (94, Hawking

Using chapter 6 of Bakers text summarized the key point or points most critical to the intelligence
cycle.
The chapter 6 of Baker s text was focused on criminal investigative analysis of arson as well as the
advanced behavioral science of arson investigation. Arson is defined as the willful and malicious
burning of a property or buildings (Baker, 2005). Investigators must prove that the arsonists voluntary,
knowingly, and purposefully committed the crime in order to be prosecuted. However, arson crimes
are more difficult to identify because of its patterns and trends are not consistent (Baker, 2005). There

The Pros And Cons Of Hyper Reality
Hyper reality affects us all. We re increasingly lost in its mesh of simulation. Yet we re blind to it
because we are blinded by it. Hyper reality is a special kind of social reality in which a reality is
created or simulated from models, or defined by reference to models, a reality generated from ideas. It
differs from other realities in that the division between reality and imaginary disappears, we left reality
behind, and never noticed until now. We can no longer tell the former reality from hyper reality, and
we wouldn t know if reality returned. Humans nowadays lives in two worlds one real and one
simulated and the problem is that they can t differentiate between both that s what Baudrillard said.
We as I mentioned before, create simulation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything is a complete simulation it is not real at all, and that is what we need to understand, but we
don t because we don t want to, not because it is unbelievable but because we don t want to believe or
even think that this is not real, after all, all we think about is our needs only and we don t care about,
fakeness, or reality what matters is to get them. Nowadays you can t know if a person is talented or
not actually you can t differentiate, because machines are doing the whole work where nothing is hard
on a machine it can duplicate anything, and do it to the fullest, but what a machine can t do is add
imagination to something and everything it does is not unique because it s not original this is what
Benjamin mentioned too and that s why also Baudrillard said nothing around us is real if everything is
duplicated and done by a machine than how can it be real. Two important quotes that Baudrillard said
are: Hell of simulation, which is no longer one of torture, but of subtle, maleficent, elusive twisting of

Loss of Identity in Invisible Man Essay
Loss of Identity in Invisible Man
No matter how hard the Invisible Man tries, he can never break from the mold of black society. This
mold is crafted and held together by white society during the novel. The stereotypes and expectations
of a racist society compel blacks to behave only in certain ways, never allowing them to act according
to their own will. Even the actions of black activists seeking equality are manipulated as if they are
marionettes on strings. Throughout the novel the Invisible Man encounters this phenomenon and
although he strives to achieve his own identity in society, his determination is that it is impossible.

The marionette metaphor is therefore exemplified in a physical sense. However the Invisible Man
observes others in the book that manifest this metaphor in a psychological sense.
The concept of blindness is a reoccurring theme in the book that serves to control the blacks.
Reverend Barbee s sermon is the first encounter involving symbolic blindness. The sermon reinforces
the values of the school, which give the impression that blacks have the opportunity to gain true
equality if they work hard enough. Barbee tells the story of the founder of the school. Barbee regards
the Founder as a god of sorts, whose ideology should be trusted completely, like a religion. The
sermon declares that the Founder s ideology and life represent a universal example that should be
followed. Interestingly enough, Barbee is physically blind and therefore displays how this ideology is
followed blindly. This serves to pigeon hole the efforts of the students at the college, keeping them in
control, further emulating this marionette metaphor. Although at this point in the book the Invisible
Man does not yet realize it, this is his first encounter with this metaphor in a psychological sense.
Later on in the novel, the Invisible Man joins the Brotherhood, and the theme of

Free Expression Within The Soviet Union
Free Expression within the Soviet Union has been a contested idea over the past century of its
existence. Within legal boundaries Russians were restricted to state sponsored means of expression
such as journal writing, classical music, or state censored literature and media. However these limited
means that were deemed acceptable by the leaders were not what the general populace always wanted.
A system that pushes for freedom and uniformity throughout its population doesn t sound too bad but
when that uniformity is pressed upon the individual s personality; freedom of expression is stifled.
That is exactly what happened to Soviet citizens brought up within their society that emphasized
uniformity as a way to unify its population in an ideological battle which forced its citizens to stay
within a Soviet framework. Rising out of Stalinist times, a youth movement stressing more open
freedom regarding culture and expression began to pick up steam before exploding in the 1980s under
Gorbachev. Movements in art, music, and literature contributed to the push towards glasnost. This
reform came about after decades of resistance to state control of culture and expression in the Soviet
Union through the early years(Lenin Stalin), middle years(Khrushchev Brezhnev), and the later
years(Andropov, Chernenko, Gorbachev).
During the early years of the Soviet Union, uniformity within the country was established under the
state but pockets of resistance remained nonetheless. The

Epiglottis Case Study
a) The nostrils and nasal hairs, nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, oral cavity, larynx, pharynx and the
epiglottis are all part of the upper respiratory tract. The upper respiratory tract is responsible for the
conduction, filtering, protection, warming and moistening of air for inspiration. The tissues found in
the upper tract of the respiratory system are stratified squamous cells, pseudostratified ciliated
columnar cells, and there are also mucosa (goblet cells). The goblet cells produce the mucus required
for capture and expulsion of foreign materials. This is achieved by trapping the foreign particles in the
mucus which the cilia move towards the pharynx where it is either coughed up or swallowed, keeping
the conduction pathway mostly free of unwanted matter. The epiglottis at the top of the larynx is an
important structure in the respiratory system as during swallowing the epiglottis closes over the
trachea preventing food/drink/mucus/saliva into the airways. Once swallowing is complete the
epiglottis flap relaxes allowing air to flow freely into the lower section of the respiratory system
through the multiple layers of c shaped cartilage structure called the trachea. The c shaped cartilage is

Thus the atmospheric pressure outside the body is higher than in the lungs, causing air to move inside

The Psychology Of Sports Gambling

The Importance Of Artifice In Society
Although many people may like to think of America as a honest and moral nation, it is no secret that
artifice has cemented itself as an indispensable skill, exploited by many to achieve their own
ambitions. Artifice, characterized through the usage of cunning devices or expedients to deceive
others, is often utilized by politicians and organizations to help push their own agendas. As illustrated
by Chris Hedges in his social commentary, Empire of Illusion, artifice has emerged to become so
ubiquitous and essential throughout American society, whether in business or the entertainment
industry. Essential, in the essence that without it, people in any industry are more likely to be
disadvantaged in achieving their personal goals. In today s modern world, no area has seen more
abuse of artifice than in the field of media and politics. Its common knowledge that newspapers skew
reports to their own biases and politicians often tell half truths to cover up ulterior motives.
Unfortunately, these politicians and media giants hold extremely influential positions in society, and
their usage of artifice is extremely damaging to the integrity and accountability within the United
States. As a result, the press as well as the general populace must utilize free speech to expose this
behavior. Despite the complete immorality of the usage of artifice, such chicanery remains essential
for success in media and politics. Artifice generated through the media plays a pivotal role in the

Islamic Laws And Islamic Law Essay
Analysis For the purpose of this analysis I am going to compare each nations legal tradition, and
provide the definition of the rule of law. Iran is considered to be an Islamic country, a country that
practices a sacred legal tradition and more specifically Islamic law. In this type of legal tradition there
is no separations between religious and legal entities. Islamic law is proclaimed as the basis for all
law, including harsh Islamic criminal law, punishment that is based on retribution (Dammer, Albanese
p. 57,58). In Iran, there is a great influence to have Shari a law further integrated in to the national law,
the Quran is the Muslim s holy book and therefore is considered to be the most important source in
Shai a law (Dammer, Albanese p. 57,58). The Quran is around 6,000 versus, although only 80 of those
could be considered legal terms (Amin, 1985a, p. 9). Islamic law is unique compared to other legal
traditions due to the fact that it is not based or representative of customs or traditions, such as those
legal traditions that are based on code law, such as the Civil law that is practiced in Italy and much of
the Western World (Dammer, Albanese, 2014). Italy s legal tradition was based on codified Roman
law. The civil code of 1942 replaced the original code of 1865; Italy currently practices a Civil law
tradition. Civil law tradition is the compound of a multitude of several distinct elements and sub
traditions. The oldest sub tradition was Roman law, which included

European Union Dbq
At the end of World War 2, most countries in Europe were in a wreck. Cities were decimated and
economy was failing, it was the time to rebuild. The European Union was an effective way to help
Europe rebuild. The EU first started as just a common market for steel and coal, but quickly grew into
a union of countries united as one. It is a great opportunity for countries in Europe as the it was
created for the sole purpose of preserving peace and preventing another World War on the rebuilding
continent. The EU is also very beneficial to countries as it has the best economy in the world, for the
peace efforts and the ability to support its members.
One of the major benefits of membership in the EU is its strong economy. All members of the EU

Essay about A Blessing James Wright
In the poem A Blessing, James Wright analyzes the relationship between human beings and nature
through the descriptive explanation of an encounter between his friend and himself and two Indian
horses. He shows that although we are able to relate and interact with the animals we don t have the
ability to join them or as Wright puts it: break into blossom (26 27). Wright uses imagery and
personification to describe the nature he witnesses as he escapes from the stress of human life. The
ponies in this poem are personified by comparing them to human beings, mainly through the
description of their emotions. This personification lessens the gap between the author and the horses
and separates him from civilization represented by the highways ... Show more content on

This point is proved further as A light breezes moves [the author] to caress [the ponies] long ear (23),
showing that nature itself is encouraging the merging of the two sides, because the wind encourages
the hand to pet the horses ear. Another simile is used to describe the horse s ear as delicate as the skin
over a girl s wrist (24), again blurring the line between human and nature. Finally Wright comes to the
realization that if he were blessed enough he would be able to step out of his body and break into
blossom, thus becoming a part of nature. But, he realizes that is past the realm of reality and therefore
cannot be done.
Wright examines the relationship of human being and nature using his descriptive language including
such devices as imagery and similes. Wright sees the idea of nature and humans joining as one as a
possible feat and he shows this though his written experience with these Indian ponies. He initially
shows the contrast of the two worlds, but they grow on each other and end up becoming one. Wright
sees the loneliness of the ponies, gains their affection, as the ponies are very welcoming. He ultimately
ends up wanting to join them by being able to break into blossom (26 27), but he is unable to do so
because he reached the maximum threshold of the union between humans and nature. Which brings us
back to the Wright is able to disregard the average day for humans and take a day to appreciate the
true value of nature in its

This process reduced not just customer s satisfaction but also profit; there is a need for a financial
information management to integrate all their business processes. SAP (System Applications Program)
was introduced to the company to ensure efficient communication among the different modules of the

Critically examining how the decision to implement SAP reflects an organizational perspective on
information management, according to Strassman s (1995) concept, there are five core ideas that are
used to maintain Information superiority in a company these are;
Governance: this concerns power and applying an understanding to the distribution of power to the

ANALAYZE THE EXTEND TO WHICH THE KENYAN SOCIETY CAN BE REGARDED
STRATIFIED
INTRODUCTION
Social stratification refers to the ranking /ordering/classification of people in a society as determined
by various parameters which includes language, gender, power, tribal affiliation, education, religion as
a result of education. Stratification is wide spread in the Kenyan communities as a result affecting the
economic, political and social relationship among the

Some communities also holds on to taboos which oppress women giving an upper hand to the male
counter parts. An example includes the Luhya community where women do not take chicken because
of their gender.
Gender disparities has seen most women being disowned off their the poverty level in women as they
keep depending on men for their upkeep. Inheritance differences between the two gender has enhance
the superiority of male child over the female by excluding the females from having a share of their

Women are also restricted by custom which essentially prohibits them from owning land especially
those in lower class.

Analysis Of The Movie I Have Just Watched Citizen Kane ...
Hello, I have just watched Citizen Kane. I did not particularly like this movie, however, I would
recommend that anyone who is an old movies buff should see it. The movie was produced by Orson
Welles, who also played one of the main characters. Orson Welles played the role of Charles Foster
Kane. Kane s friend, Jedediah Leland was played by Joseph Cotten. Charles s second wife, Susan
Alexander Kane, was played by Dorothy Comingore. Walter Thatcher, Kane s guardian after his
mother came into some money, was played by George Coul. And last but not least, Jerry Thompson,
played by William Alland, the reporter who went around to interview Kane s former friends and
employees in an attempt to unveil who, or what, Rosebud was.
Citizen Kane is about a man by the name Charles Foster Kane. Mr. Kane was a famous and once
influential newspaper publisher. The movie starts with a newsreel depicting a lengthy obituary with an
overview of Kane s colorful life and career and introduced some of the more important people and
events that occurred in Kane s life. The producer of the newsreel told the reporters that he was not
happy with the film because it merely recounted Kane s life, instead of revealing who Kane truly was.
The producer noted that Kane s last word was Rosebud and wondered if that may hold the key to Kane
s character. He decided to stall the newsreel release and sent a reporter, Jerry Thompson, to talk to
Kane s former associates to try to uncover the identity of Rosebud.

In the essay Why Colleges Shower Their Students with A s Brent Staples argued that all the scholars are getting high emblems they don t deserve ( Why Colleges Shower Their Students ). According to him, there are several reasons behind this increasing A s. Staples focuses on the fact that getting an A for any class was so complicated that only cum laude students were worth getting those grades, which gave them a very high and esteemed value. But in this modern era, good grades have lost the real value. The quantity of students getting an A grade is increasing day by day. With the advent of establishment of new colleges every year, the competition has raised among them. Competing with others is the nature of every creature, whether it is for food, shelter or anything else. In case of human beings the level of competition is beyond simple things. They compete for everything in their life. Even a small virtual game played on mobile phone is taken as a great deal of competition. And when the competition comes to be about the money and the reputation, people can go to any level to win it. Colleges compete on several levels in order to attract the student. Additionally, students who face high debts for their college loans require high grades in order to guarantee future employment to pay off their loans. Thus, grade appeal processes have become very lenient over the past several years, which weaken the ability of educators to issue fair grades. The show started with Sisa Pakari Danza Ecuador with an Andean song dedicated to Pacha Mama/Mother Earth, this song is to thank the earth for a good harvest. The dancers were wearing traditional garments, the women artists had embroidered white blouses (camisas), shawls (rebozos), black wrap skirts (anakus), gold colored bead necklaces (walkas) and red bead bracelets (maki watana), with their hair wrapped up in strips of woven cloth (cintas). The dancers wore typical costumes, with the women dressed in white with colorful embroidered shirts and skirts, and men wore traditional pants and embroidered shirts. The third dance company to follow onto the stage was Ballet Folklórico Paraguayo. The group, performed by four female dancers, moved at the rhythms of the Paraguayan polka which combines ternary and binary rhythms, whereas the European form only uses binary. The announcer informed that, the most famous style of music in Paraguay is Guarania, created by the Paraguayan musician José Asunción Flores in 1926. The Guarania accomplishes this by using a combination of slow rhythms and melodies of melancholia character. The dancers were wearing traditional full pleated skirts decorated with lace, their blouses were worn off the shoulder and the sleeves were made of lace. The body of their blouses were embroidered in red, white and blue which are the colors of the Paraguayan flag, I also noticed that their hair was worn up and their jewelry was of silver and coral color. Bootlegger In The Great Gatsby Niki Huang Mr. Torgerson English 3 10 May 2015 Songs of America Essay He s a bootlegger, said the young ladies, moving somewhere between his cocktails and his flowers. One time he killed a man who had found out that he was nephew to von Hindenburg and second cousin to the devil (Fitzgerald 63). In Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, many rumors surrounded Gatsby. Some said he was a German spy, a relative of the Kaiser, an Oggsford man, a great war hero, and a killer. One of Gatsby s guest, Owl Eyes, even says that Gatsby didn t exist. Among all these rumors, the one about how Gatsby was a bootlegger was true, and more, he was also involved with the man who fixed the World Series, Wolfsheim. His business through bootlegging corrupted the American Dream s ethic of hard work and integrity, and thus Gatsby s illegal business practices frightened his American Dream, the Golden Girl, Daisy away. • 7. Arguments Against Circular Reasoning Logic, as most people know, is the art and science of reasoning well. Studied logicians use facts to craft clear, convincing arguments that support various positions. Correct arguments state reliable facts or premises, as some call them and then draw a conclusion based on those facts. Only a single error in an argument can bring the whole thing crashing down, which causes the debater to lose both the point and part of their reputability. Circular reasoning has become one fault that occurs far too often. The basic faith of Christianity becomes unstable when the Word of God becomes untrustworthy. Entire lives will fall apart and hundreds of people will become unstable and confused, and all because they put faith in an unreliable document. Why does that matter to me?All humans instinctively know not to follow something that they cannot trust, but many refuse to obey these instincts when it comes to religion. People should begin to think and realize the foolhardiness of a conservative Christian faith that heavily relies on the infallibility of the Bible, for if the Bible cannot be trusted, then they have wasted their lives on a fool s errand. • 8. Racism In To Kill A Mockingbird By Horton Foote I know when I was a little I believed most of what I was told. I believe this could be said for most people out there. To Kill a Mockingbird by Horton Foote has some similar things going for it. Jem Finch a 10 year old boy and his 6 year old sister Scout (also referred to as Jean Louis) experience situations where this is very relevant. The screenplay is set in Maycomb, Alabama in 1932. The town is still fairly racist, this is really shown in a court case known as the Tom Robinson case. All in all the Theme of To Kill a Mockingbird is do not believe everything you hear. In the beginning of the screenplay Jem and Scout meet Dill (whose real name is Charles Baker Harris) who is a 6 year old boy that seems to stretch the truth about his father. When the three of them first meet Dill says that he does not have a father, but moments later he changes what he means saying My daddy owns the L and N Railroad (Foote 10). If that does not seem a little questionable towards the middle of the screenplay he changes what he says again. Dill says ... my daddy was a railroad man until he got rich. Now he flies airplanes (Foote 47). The whole thing with him and his dad just seems like it is exaggerated or made up after this point. Most might think that he makes this up because he originally says that he does not know his father. I have been working with computers since I was 8 years old. I remember the good old days where I would sit there with my dad watching him play Zork for hours on end. In fact that game is one of the reasons I started writing. This was in the mid to late 80 s and the machines had no hard drives and ran completely off of 5 1/4 inch floppy disk s. This was all fun and games, but I didn t learn much from the experience. I did however learn to maneuver through the DOS operating system as well as how to execute programs. My real experience didn t start till around June of 1992. I live in the San Bernardino California area. If you know any history of the area, in June 1992 there was a massive 7.3 earthquake that shook San Bernardino quite harshly. Shopping malls all around the area had the roofs cave in. This was a great tragedy but for us a great learning experience. Because of the earthquake the malls were forced to send all of their computer equipment to the land fills for insurance purposes, wither they were damaged or not. This is where my real experience started. My father brought home three PC s that looked more like junk than computers. With a bit of elbow grease we were able to salvage parts from one of the PC s and get the other two working. The obviously more powerful PC my dad decided to keep for himself and I got ... • 12. How General Relativity Affects Humanity Aaron Peters Mrs. Smith Language Arts 24 October 2017 General Relativity General relativity affects people today, whether they are an astronaut or a zoologist. To understand general relativity, one must know how spacetime works, how black holes affect it, and how it affects humanity. General relativity is the idea that everything is made out of spacetime and that mass affects spacetime. One way to describe spacetime is by using a metaphor of a rubber sheet. The metaphor goes like this: a rubber sheet is stretched between two boards. A ball placed on it would bend the rubber sheet. Spacetime is like that rubber sheet and the ball is anything of mass. A ball placed on the rubber sheet would roll towards the mass, which stimulates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because bent spacetime takes longer to climb, time passes slower the closer we are to mass. This is not related to gravity, it is purely time itself being affected. For example, if one were standing on top of Mount Snowdon, it would only take 1/10^14 of a second less time to drink a cup of tea than it would at sea level (Stannard 83 89, Chaisson 39, Hawking 86 92). The more things pull on you, the longer things take to happen. This can be very extreme, for example, if one was standing on top of a black hole it would take infinitely long for one to die even though someone watching would see her or him die instantaneously. This is again caused by the warping of spacetime, and that black holes warp spacetime enough to extend time to a standstill (Hawking 147 151, 160). Although black holes are seen as a gap in space from a distance, they are not actually black as the name implies: they give off light from absorbing hydrogen and helium. The cloud of hydrogen and helium surrounds the black holes, which is often joined by nearby stars and planets. These clouds are proof of black holes being almost the reverse of a normal star: instead of creating matter to make energy, they destroy matter to make energy (94, Hawking ... Hyper reality is a special kind of social reality in which a reality is created or simulated from models, or defined by reference to models, a reality generated from ideas. The sermon reinforces the values of the school, which give the impression that blacks have the opportunity to gain true equality if they work hard enough. Barbee tells the story of the founder of the school. Barbee regards the Founder as a god of sorts, whose ideology should be trusted completely, like a religion. The sermon declares that the Founder s ideology and life represent a universal example that should be followed. Within legal boundaries Russians were restricted to state sponsored means of expression such as journal writing, classical music, or state censored literature and media. A system that pushes for freedom and uniformity throughout its population doesn t sound too bad but when that uniformity is pressed upon the individual s personality; freedom of expression is stifled. The upper respiratory tract is responsible for the conduction, filtering, protection, warming and moistening of air for inspiration. The tissues found in the upper tract of the respiratory system are stratified squamous cells, pseudostratified ciliated columnar cells, and there are also mucosa (goblet cells). The goblet cells produce the mucus required for capture and expulsion of foreign materials. This is achieved by trapping the foreign particles in the mucus which the cilia move towards the pharynx where it is either coughed up or swallowed, keeping the conduction pathway mostly free of unwanted matter. The epiglottis at the top of the larynx is an important structure in the respiratory system as during swallowing the epiglottis closes over the trachea preventing food/drink/mucus/saliva into the airways. • 35. Essay about A Blessing James Wright In the poem A Blessing, James Wright analyzes the relationship between human beings and nature through the descriptive explanation of an encounter between his friend and himself and two Indian horses. He shows that although we are able to relate and interact with the animals we don t have the ability to join them or as Wright puts it: break into blossom (26 27). Wright uses imagery and personification to describe the nature he witnesses as he escapes from the stress of human life. The ponies in this poem are personified by comparing them to human beings, mainly through the description of their emotions. This personification lessens the gap between the author and the horses and separates him from civilization represented by the highways ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This point is proved further as A light breezes moves [the author] to caress [the ponies] long ear (23), showing that nature itself is encouraging the merging of the two sides, because the wind encourages the hand to pet the horses ear. Another simile is used to describe the horse s ear as delicate as the skin over a girl s wrist (24), again blurring the line between human and nature. Finally Wright comes to the realization that if he were blessed enough he would be able to step out of his body and break into blossom, thus becoming a part of nature. But, he realizes that is past the realm of reality and therefore cannot be done. Wright examines the relationship of human being and nature using his descriptive language including such devices as imagery and similes. Wright sees the idea of nature and humans joining as one as a possible feat and he shows this though his written experience with these Indian ponies. He initially shows the contrast of the two worlds, but they grow on each other and end up becoming one. Wright sees the loneliness of the ponies, gains their affection, as the ponies are very welcoming. He ultimately ends up wanting to join them by being able to break into blossom (26 27), but he is unable to do so because he reached the maximum threshold of the union between humans and nature. Which brings us back to the Wright is able to disregard the average day for humans and take a day to appreciate the true value of nature in its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The movie was produced by Orson Welles, who also played one of the main characters. Orson Welles played the role of Charles Foster Kane. Kane s friend, Jedediah Leland was played by Joseph Cotten. Charles s second wife, Susan Alexander Kane, was played by Dorothy Comingore. Walter Thatcher, Kane s guardian after his mother came into some money, was played by George Coul. The movie starts with a newsreel depicting a lengthy obituary with an overview of Kane s colorful life and career and introduced some of the more important people and events that occurred in Kane s life. The producer of the newsreel told the reporters that he was not happy with the film because it merely recounted Kane s life, instead of revealing who Kane truly was.
