Lysistrata by Aristophanes
All is fair in love and war, right? Right! Aristophanes play Lysistrata is exactly that, but with a
twist. The play takes its name from the main female heroine, you guessed it, Lysistrata, an Athenian
woman with a plan to stop the Peloponnessian war. Taking an in depth look on how, we can look at
her leadershipqualities that helped to make this happen in the play. From keeping the womanin line,
to depriving the men of sex, just how does she do it?
First lets examine creativity. Lysistrata hatches a plan to put an end to the Peloponnessian war
once and for all. In the first act of the play, she sets forth the motions to accomplish this in three
parts. The first of which is to deny the sexual pleasures that all the woman offer to men in Athens
until a truce is made between both nations to end the war. With all the wives and women rallied
together and working on the same page, she sets forth the next of her moves in seizing and
occupying the Akropolis and its riches to fund the war. Using these 2 motions set forth she denies
the men of Athens much needed funds to keep the armies moving, and denial of all the sexual
pleasures a woman can offer her man. slowly driving the men to look for an end to the war.
Next lets examine confidence. Lysistrata from the beginning of the play exudes it in such a way
that is noticeable but not overwhelming. Right of the bat she tells the woman who slowly start
showing up that she has a plan to save Athens and Greece from their long

The And On Startup Valuations
A How To on Startup Valuations
Valuations are often referred to as an art, rather than a science. An outsider to the field would
assume that there was one precise way to set the value for a growing company, but in the end it
comes to preference. Each company is different with assets that are unique and not easily compared
to others. At a baseline level, a valuation matters because it determines the share of the company
[entrepreneurs] have to give away to an investor in exchange for money (Vital 2013). With billions
of dollars on the line in a valuation, different methods are employed to determine accurate
valuations. Proposed methods can vary based on company type, stage of funding, and many other
characteristics. Bill Payne, long time angel investor, offers four popular methods as a starting point
for startup valuation. These span from the Venture CapitalMethod in which valuations get their
basis from potential return rates from exit events, the Berkus Method in which monetary standards
are set against the progress a startup has made in commercialization, to the Scorecard Valuation
Process in which the company is compared in a certain region and vertical range based on a set of
characteristics, finally the Risk Factor Summation Method in which characteristics are again
inspected in terms of what is expected in the future (Hudson 2015) .
While in the process of determining companies to fund, Venture Capital firms examine some of
these same characteristics on

Social And Cultural Events In The 20th And 21st Century
Education has been affected greatly by social and cultural events of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Because education follows the moves of society, the need for new skills in life and in the
workplace change and students can be career and college ready. This, however, has not always
been the case. The first of two main cultural and social events focused on are the events that led up
to the Brown vs. the Board of EducationSupreme Court case, which resulted in the desegregation of
schools. The second are the effects that the Great Recession had on the education system. In the
1940s the Civil Rights Movement began gaining strength and the country began moving slowly to
desegregation. In 1947, in the face of much opposition, Jackie Robinson became the first African
Americanbaseball player. When he traveled to the south he was denied access into hotels,
restaurants, and other venues because of this race. Because Robinson was in the army the armed
forces became desegregated in 1948 and eventually led to the elimination of segregated schools
(Schwartz, 2003). During this era African American students were in separate but equal schools
although many black schools suffered from poor facilities and a lack of funding and other
amenities that were provided at white schools. Black students were often bussed great distances to
attend school. In 1952, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
(NAACP) lawyers represented the case Brown vs. the Board of education. This case dealt with
the right of a black child to attend an all white school close to her home instead of being bussed
across town to the all black school. Initially, the ruling was in favor of the Board of Education, but
the adverse effects of separate but equal schooling on the black community were clearly shown
(Schwartz, 2003). African Americans were also held back by not having the right to vote. A
literacy exam was required to be passed in order to vote. Because of their schooling restrictions,
many African Americans were illiterate, which denied them of the right to vote. A workshop for the
United Nations drew several community members and teachers from the south (Horton, Freire,
1990). One member who attended

Embryonic Stem Cells Ethical
There are many diseases that have the potential to affect every single person in the world. Some
are curable and some are not. However, some cells called stem cells may impact and help many
people. Stem cells are what are called undifferentiated cells, which means that they are not
specialized cells. However, they can develop into all different kinds of cells within the body. So
through this, stem cells control the development of the body by evolving into the cells the body
needs to survive, or even replacing worn out or destroyed cells (Levine and Miller 294 297). These
cells can reproduce to make more of themselves through cell division. In the long run, stem cells
enable the body to continue functioning and to stay healthy (Stem Cell).

There is little argument against using adult stem cells because when used, a donor consents to
donate their cells. However, there are many arguments against using embryonic stem cells
because these come from embryos, one of the earliest stages of a baby. There are those who
fight against it because they believe that embryos have the same rights as every other human
being and should not be used for this. Some feel very strongly because while taking the cells
from it, the embryo is destroyed. However, the other side to the argument is that stem cells from
these embryos can be used to help save many others from death. One can see how hard it is to
decide what to choose because either way, there is a death and a life on the line. This also makes
it hard for researchers to get funding to continue researching. However, technological
advancements may help to prevent any more disagreements by erasing the notion of using
embryos at all. There is hope that there is a certain way that extracting stem cells from the
embryo may not harm it at all. It also may be possible to use adult stem cells in place of the embryo
cells (Levine and Miller

Analysis Of Signs Preceding The End Of The World
Signs Preceding the End of the World Signs Preceding the End of the World is an insider s look
at the mind and journey of an illegal immigrant. A Mexican young woman crossing the border
story is what challenges the ethics of readers. The main character in Signs Preceding the End of
the World is Makina. Makina is in charge of a small Mexican town s telephone. A reliable,
messenger, she knows how to keep a secret and when to keep her mouth shut. She is dangerous
when threatened, quick to defend herself against lecherous fools, and unafraid of speaking truth
to power (Long). Makina is just like an ordinary person. She is no different from an average
American. Makina has a job and harmless when not threatened. Americans act as if immigrants are
so beneath them. Immigrants are hard workers, just like Americans. Immigrants want better lives
for themselves and their families, just like Americans. Americans and immigrants are not the only
ones who want these things. People all around the world want what is best for everyone they
know. Most people will do whatever it takes to get to what they need; even if it is in life
threatening conditions. Signs Preceding the End of the World challenges our ethics by placing the
reader in the mind of an illegal immigrant, allowing the reader to know the true feelings and
experience of the immigrant. The reader s ethics are first challenged when Makina began her
journey; when the reader finds out that Makina needs to find her brother that has

Similarities Between Riis And Sander
When an artist paints, he puts all his emotions into the stroke of his brush. Same application can
be made of a photographers. When a professional photographer takes a photo they think of all
their emotions and ideas, so that all things come together in harmony. When photography was first
created it changed the world because it was capable of showing the world as it is. Instead of
hearing stories from people, people were actually able to see for themselves. Photographycaptured
the truth and the truth is a powerful thing. Photographers like Jacob August Riis and August
Sander used photography to tell stories that words couldn t. With photographs like Poverty

NCAA March Madness Tournament
One of the top sporting events in the world is considered to be the NCAA March Madness
tournament. This tournament is ranked third just behind the super bowl and FIFA World Cup. It
s unbelievable to think that one of the top sporting events in the world is in college athletics.
You have other professional sports like basketball, baseball, hockey and NASCAR, but there
championships still don t compare to the NCAA championship. March madness is so popular
that global firms Challenger, Gray Christmas, Inc believe that companies are expected to lose

why it would get very crowded at Illinois arena. The NCAA has stuck with the current format for
the bracket since 2011. There are 68 teams that compete in the NCAA basketball tournament
from March to April. 32 of the 68 teams automatically qualify if they win their conference
championship. The Ivy does not have a tournament championship so whoever is the regular
season champion in the Ivy League has an automatic bid as well. The rest of the 36 slots are
filled by at large bids and are selected by a committee based on their record and how difficult
teams schedules were. This selection is televised on ESPN and is called, Selection Sunday. After
the committee picks who belong in the tournament, they then need to make the seeding s for
each team. If you are a #1 seed you are considered the best team in that region. If you re a #16

Polygraphs Are Better Than Lying
Polygraphs measure bodily functions in order to evaluate whether or not the subject is telling the
truth. It combines three readings to achieve results: heart/blood pressure, respiration, and skin
conductivity. The heart and blood pressure is measured with a blood pressure cuff around the wrist,
respiration is judged using pneumographs around the chest, and skin conductivity is found by
electrodes placed on the fingertips. The subject is then asked a series of preliminary questions to set
readings and ensure that the equipment is working. Once the polygraphis set up, the interviewer
begins one of the two primary types of polygraph tests.
The Control Question Test (CQT) is the more popular of the two. The interviewer will ask both

A leader s style can be classified as transactional, transformational, or what is considered level 5. A
transactional leader creates a very structured environment. Those leaders employing transactional
leadership create clearly defined responsibilities for employees and subordinates. Transactional
leadership details the rewards for success; unfortunately, transactional leadership also encompasses
an element of punishment for failure. The punishment can be something as simple as a reprimand
for small infractions up to termination for more serious infractions; the consequences are usually
well documented as a formal policy. The transformational leadership style goes far beyond
transactional leadership. A transformational leadership style is characterized by high energy,
sensibility, clarity in direction, and empathy. Transformational leaders inspire subordinates to go
beyond the norm and achieve goals on a greater scale than they thought possible. The
transformational leader promotes a mentoring relationship rather than a monitoring relationship.
Which leadership style is better? The answer would be neither, both have their place. The culture
and potential problems facing a company are factors that determine which leadership style works
best. While the leadership style is important, the leader is just as important. Anyone can be a

Poverty Deviant And Poverty
When discussing deviance and what most people classify as deviant, many won t admit that
they find people who are poor, and people who are ethically different as deviant. But when
observing people s actions, it is obvious that they do. We are all guilty of purposely avoiding
walking near a homeless person, or avoiding eye contact with them at a stop light. These action
and behaviors prove that we see these people as deviant. I agree with Goode, that povertycan take
individuals and make them deviant or make them more deviant than they already were. Shame
is what the poverty stricken individuals feel, (Goode 85), which makes these individuals more
likely to partake in illegal activities. They will partake in these activities as a sort of income, for
example the using and selling drugs, or they will partake in these activities because they know
they are already stigmatized, and there is no point in trying to prove otherwise. Which further
proves that being poor may be deviant on its own but it also causes deviance. If middle and
upper class Americans were more open and accepting to the poor, then I think they would be
less likely to commit deviant acts. Poverty is a self fulfilling prophecy because it is harder for
these individuals to better themselves when they are already labeled as deviant. Another
problem with American society is how hard it is for poor individuals to find success because the
rich are richer and the poor are poorer, (Goode 88). The top 1% in America hold most of the
money, leaving very little for those who are considered poor. This then becomes a never ending
cycle because middle and upper class kids attend very good schools and receive educations that
will allow them to find success in life, and those kids who are in working and lower classes, go
to over crowded schools with very little resources. This makes it very difficult for these kids to
take their educations further and go to college. I personally struggled with the transition from
high school to college due to the education I received. I went to a Denver Public School which
has a reputation of being trashy or ghetto . Luckily, as a whole Colorado has a good education
system, but I know I wasn t challenged enough in high

The American Revolutionary War ( 1775-1783 ) Essay
The American Revolutionary War (1775 1783), was a war between the Kingdom of Great Britain
and thirteen colonies on the North American continent. There was not a specific event that led to
the Revolutionary War. American colonies wanted full democratic rights, but the British only saw
them as colonies to be used and exploited. The British saw the colonies as economic entities that
could pay for their own defense. Many of the colonists would have been willing to pay for their own
defense. With the condition that they would have a voice when it came to making decisions. The
British ignored the colonies demands. As a result, the British developed the separate and unique
American identity. Over a ten year time period many colonists began to identify themselves as
Americans. Once the American identity was defined, The American Revolutionary War became
inevitable. After America won its independence from Great Britain, there was a need for unity
among the new states. The needs for unity lead to the creation of The Articles of Confederation.
These Articles represent the first constitutional agreement made between 13 American states. The
Articles of confederation served as a written document establishing the functions of the government
and the United States. The purpose of the Articles was to provide a general government of the 13
colonies that had won their freedom from British rule and to bring unity of the new states. The
Articles of Confederation basically implied that every

Teamwork And Communication Of The Healthcare Field Essay
Teamwork and communication are very important in providing good quality care, especially in
the healthcare field. A team is described as a group of people that works together and
cooperatively, between each member of the group to reach a common goal (Sullivan, 2013). For
a team to function, communication is essential. A report by McKay and Crippen (2008), as
stated by Alfaro LeFevre, (2013) showed that when collaboration is in place, hospitals can
decrease their mortality rate by 41%. When mortality rate is lower, hospitals does not only
decreased cost, but it also means that patients are receiving good quality care. In the hospital, a
team includes a CEO, managers, supervisors, charge nurses, medical doctors, nurses, nursing
assistants, social workers and maintenance crews; it can also include many other members. In
addition, a well functioning team is led by a good leader; a leader does not necessary mean the
CEO, but someone who is driven, knowledgeable, and a good communicator. Charge nurse and
nurses are normally the one that handles the care of patients in the hospital. Both charge nurses and
nurses can be considered leaders. It is why, it is very crucial that nurses are good communicators.
One would say that nurses are the spoke person of a hospital to its patients. The nurses care for their
patient closely, they communicate with the doctors regarding the care of the patient; they
communicate with the pharmacies, nursing assistant, colleagues, and many more. Those

We made it! This is our last session and as per your request we will go over the t test for the last

There are 3 types of t test:
The t test dependent, when the same group of subjects is tested at different time interval, different
conditions or more than once. It is also known as the t test for paired samples or t test for
correlated sample (Salkind, 2004, p.184).
The t test independent: A two sample equal variance test is performed

If one has more than two groups to compare then use the ANOVA. There are two way of doing it:
the simple or one way analysis of variance due to the presence of one grouping dimension and the
other one is called factorial design. The factorial design is complex, it is similar to the simple
ANOVA with the addition of more level to the group. For example: number of girls in group1,
group2, group 3 would be simple, now when we add to each group another level like number of
boys that would make it to factorial because each group would have girls and boys.
4 Once you have selected the right statistical test, in our case the t test then we will calculate the
effect size to find out whether the result is meaningful or not. The t test helps us to understand
whether there is statistics significance difference or not.
In our example, we want to find the t test of independency mean. To calculate the t test we need to
calculate the mean, variance (used to calculate the effect size), SD of each lab results.
The t test could be easily calculated using the excel program using four ranges.
The first and the second range would be each group data, then select the number of tail (one tail
has a t test of rejection on one side and two tail would have on each side bell curve) and finally
select the type of t test. One for paired, two for independent with equal variance and three for

because the music gives you clues on what is going to happen in the upcoming scene. It also

The Incredibles had a theme song when an action scene occurred. For example, in the film Dash

when the music came in and intensified that moment. Not all movies have climatic theme song, but

Coal Mining And Its Effects
When asked to think of coal mining, what comes to mind? A mountain with a hole cut into the
side of it with a set of railroad tracks disappearing into it? Maybe an old mine car or two full of
some rocks or coal, with a pickaxe and shovel leaning against it. A few guys with hard hats covered
in a black powder coming walking out of the mine pushing a car or two full of coal. The technology
has advanced but the process is basically still the same as well as the outcome. Coal is retrieved
from underground and taken to factories to be burnt to create electricity or to fuel the steel mills.
1 What is coal? Coal is a substance we consider today a fossil fuel, created from all the dead
plants millions of years ago. Coal is formed from prehistoric plants that when they die are not
able to release the energy they built up from photosynthesis Typically the plants had fallen into
large swamps and bogs, and then over time the dead plants lying on the bottom of the swamps
and bogs were slowly covered with other dead plants and sediment build up. Once buried the
plants were subjected to high amounts of pressure and temperatures, which over long periods of
time it becomes peat then eventually creates coal. We refer to coal as a fossil fuel today because it
is created from prehistoric plants and the coal we have today has been millions of years since it was
in plant form. Today we coal is still being created we just don t fully recognize it because how long
the process actually takes.

The battle that won American Independence While researching skirmishes and major battles

in shaping our great nation than the battle of Yorktown. Think of the Revolutionary War, visions of
guerrilla like hit and run tactics of the minute men causing confusion and exhaustion to the neat

nothing to build a solid fortification. Lord Cornwallis had to use earth and wood to build protection

Pew Research Article Summary
Americans receive many messages about support for gay rights ranging from clergy to gay men;
however, some are ambivalent, or undecided on the issue because of the numerous messages that
they are given (Garner 2013: 243). Andrew Garner wanted to test if contact with gays and lesbians
would elevate or decline levels of ambivalence among American s opinions about gay rights (241).
While this research question could be discovered in the abstract, the author never states the research
question clearly. Garner does provide immense detail about previous studies; however, he lacks
clear justification for the study, and the support he provided had to be collectively assumed rather
than explained. Assumingly, he argues that by understanding how gay... Show more content on

measured. The callback interviews asked respondents if they have a friend, colleague, or family
member who is gay, while the main survey asked two separate questions concerning how strongly
respondents support same sex marriage and acceptance of homosexuals as a way of life. Contact
is measured as a dichotomous or dummy variable indicating whether or not the respondent knew
someone who is gay, (249). The survey also asks questions about race, party identification, and
religious affiliation (249 250). Garner then describes how the variables are coded, are applied to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Polymers
1.1Introduction:
Polymer is derived from the Greek word. It can be broken down into Poly means many and mer
means units. This shows that a polymer has small units called monomers in its chemical
composition which are bound together to form a large molecule. Depending on the arrangement of
different chains and how they are joined, polymers can be classified as:
пѓ Thermoplastics
пѓ Thermosets
пѓ Elastomers
1.2 Types of Polymers replacing Metallic Components in Consumer Application: To make our lives
considerably easier, home appliances use circuit control, safety devices and resistance lead. Some of
the devices are thermostat, transducer, Light Dependent Resistor [LDR], motor, etc. some of the

There is design freedom, low weight, no corrosion, transparency when plastic is used. On the other
hand metals are stiff and strong and so can be machined and welded and this leads to high tolerance
which can be used at high temperatures. Thermoplastics which can be used as metal substitutes
include nylon, polyamide [PA], polybutylene terephthalate [PBT], poly oxymethylene [POM],
polyphenylenesulphide [PPS], polyarylmide [PARA], polypthalamide [PPA], polyetheretherketone
[PEEK], etc. these polymers offer high tensile strength and are flexible.
1.4 Advantages of Polymer Material for Mass Production Now a days there is a very little gap
between use of metals and polymers. Use of polymer is increasing day by day due to the following
reasons:
пѓ Design freedom: it is very easy to mold polymers in any shape and form like injection
molding and blow molding at a very low cost. Polymers can be treated with chemicals to bring out
multiple properties in them which is not possible easily with metals.
пѓ Performance: polymers have high benefits. They reduce the weight, resistant to chemical and
impact, corrosion free, etc. the main reason for the use of polymers is the reduction in weight.
пѓ Efficiency: due to metal replacement there is an increase in manufacturing efficiency as
multiple individual components in a product can be brought together into a single component using

Essay about The Pros and Cons of Home Schooling
The Pros and Cons of Home Schooling Home schooling is an important issue in the educational
world today. Whether or not a parent has the right to take their child out of public schools to
educate them at home has become a widely talked about subject. Over the past decade, some 18,260
home schools have registeredas home schools, and this number continues to grow (Clark/Havice).
This issue, although intense and multi layered, is often divided into two distinct groups those who
oppose it, thinking it prevents the child from learning the essentials for social life, and those who
advocate it, thinking that it brings the family together, allowing the parents to control what the
child learns, and permits them to educate the children one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In addition to the lack of social skills, children also face the problem with going to universities.
Colleges are reluctant to admit home school graduates because they did not have an accredited
diploma (Smith). Students who have been home schooled throughout their childhood also run
into problems when applying for college. Home schooling requires that one parent must stay at
home and teach the children. Families have to give up one parent s full time salary. Rachel
Gehlbach obtained a college degree and studied theology, computers and social sciences before
she had children. She notes that she could probably get a good job in Milwaukee, but she has
chosen remain at home and teach the children. They bake bread and garden to help save money
on the family s grocery bill (Tastad). There is also the price of school supplies to contend with;
school supplies tend to be more expensive for home schooled students. This can make the loss of
income harder (Kang).
Since parents are the teachers in a home schooling environment, they have ultimate authority. They
can have an oppressive amount of control over the student. Parents spending more time with their
children may seem like an advantage, but there comes a point where the students need time away
from their family and their parents. School is a place where students can socialize with people
outside of their family and not be under their parents constant observation. Eventually,

Women s Contribution to the War Effort and Their Gain in Voting Rights
Women over 30 gained the vote in 1918. There were a number of reasons for this but mainly
because of women s contribution to the war effort. I will be looking at these different reasons and
writing about how everything came together for the vote for women. I will start by looking at what
the women did in the war.
Women were pleased by the outbreak of the war because this meant they could prove themselves
and even get suffrage at the end of it all. Women thought this was a patriotic duty and wanted to
prove they were indispensable. So many men had been called away to fight that women were
needed to do their jobs. As a result, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to this there were major effects on the way men thought about women.
There were many effects that were caused by the war. Politicians like Asquith and Lloyd George
changed their mind about women because of the way women handled affairs while men were
giving women the vote in 1918. Old arguments about women being weak had been disproved by
women during the war. Parliament had to change the voting system so that all soldiers could vote.
In 1913 nearly half of all men still could not vote. There were other factors of why women over 30
gained the vote in 1918.
Women over 30 gained the vote in 1918 not only because of women s contribution to the war;
there were a few other reasons for women over 30 gaining the vote in 1918. After the war all men
were getting the vote so it was more difficult to ignore the women. The government thought that the
women s suffrage organisation would cease this opportunity to cause a revolution and unsettle
Britain, but this wasn t the case and it impressed the government at how co operative women were
being. In 1915 the government realised it had a problem. The old voting system demanded that
voters live on the same place for the twelve months before an election. So if there were to be an
election during the war, most soldiers would not be

How Did Rasputin Contribute To Andreat Hemophilia
Alexandra did little to dispel growing discontent for her husband. She ruled side by side with her
extremely influential friend, Grigory Rasputin. Rasputin was the only person able to treat the
hemophilia of her only son, Alexis, heir to the Russian throne. Rasputin s close relationship to the
Empress allowed him to gain his own sense of power. He quickly began dismissing efficient
ministers and appointing incompetent ministers solely on whether or not they supported him.
Nicholas began to be seen as a man who willingly let his incompetent wife run the government,

With the direction the war was headed, revolution was inevitable. The Russian economy had
virtually collapsed and the world learned that Russia was no longer a military rival against anyone.
In Saint Petersburg in 1917, mass demonstrations resulted in armed clashes with police before the
police slowly abandoned Nicholas. In the last few days before the Russian monarch fell, the last of
the royal forces, including politicians and generals, sided with the revolutionaries. Nicholas now
had no support from anyone outside of the royal family. When Parliament called for his

of his brother, who within hours abdicated himself. Within one week, Russia had fallen. After 304

Overcoming various obstacles, the protagonist demonstrates her maturity throughout the journey,
where she chooses to make decisions for the sake of the kingdom of Green Land. Saving the

Although Matilda is portrayed as a female child heroine, Colin Manlove implies that Nesbit
suggests that the capabilities of female children are underestimated in his journal article entitled
Fantasy as Witty Conceit: E. Nesbit. In this journal article, Manlove critiques that there are two
sides of Nesbit the realist and the supernaturalist ...where magic is given a colloquial and comic
face, and is brought into contact with very human children (126). This implies that the direct
audience are those oppressed by society s double standards, especially female children, and the
indirect audience are those who ridicule the capabilities of the oppressed. The story draws attention
to social issues ( realist ) by assimilating fantasy fiction ( supernaturalist ). In this case, both
children and women are belittled due to their age and gender, respectively. Since gender bias is an
issue, professors, who published the journal article Gender Differences in Children s Hero
Attributions: Personal Hero Choices and Evaluations of Typical Male and Female Heroes, observe
that boys were expected to endorse heroes for their ability to act on the world (instrumental
attributes) and for their wealth or fame (prestige) more than girls (Holub, et al. 569). This alludes
that the gender gap does not only apply to adults, but also children. Through their

Archeologists have cleaned up the meaning. Archaeologists define the word tribe as, A political

created soccer team in 2014 by coach Steve Baron. They understand their world as a place to get
better, and a place to compete. Every single kid on the team understands the other teams as
enemies that they need to concor. Each child has a different life story about how they became
the person they were. For example, some kids were born in Bryn Mawr, Philadelphia, and some
kids were born in Trinidad and Tobago. The kids come from many different backgrounds, but all

the Venom perform the same rituals before each game and practice. They eat the same foods,
always healthy, and they get themselves loose in the same way each time. They always eat healthy
foods like salads, fruits, and vegetables but they never eat something that could weight them down
like junk food. Before each game, the team performs the same warm up, they jog, they spring, they

rituals never change. Because many of the members come from different backgrounds, there is a
stern difference between how they differentiate themselves. Many kids show up to practices in
clothes that they wear on a daily basis, so for some people, that s different. Kids show up in
jackets, shorts, gloves, hats, jerseys, anything under the sun. The catch is that they are always
unique, the outfits are never similar to the others. Although we all share the same interests, we all

sporadic migration from random migrants as well as seekers of asylum. Migrants spread across

Secondhand Smoke Is Unhealthy For Everyone, Especially For...
Secondhand smoke is unhealthy for everyone, especially for young children. Children are more
susceptible to suffer the detrimental health effects of secondhand smoke because they breathe in
more air than adults due to their size and weight. In addition, children are constantly growing and
developing. During their development stage, children are more sensitive to the consequences of
secondhand smoke, which is ultimately dangerous to their immune and respiratory systems.
Furthermore, secondhand smoke is significantly harmful to children with asthma, which is a chronic
health condition whose symptoms include coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Children,
both with and without asthma, are powerless to protect themselves from the dangers of secondhand
smoke, so we the adults have to protect them. Secondhand smoke, also referred to as environmental
tobaccosmoke, primarily comes from cigars and cigarettes The effects of breathing in secondhand
smoke is equivalent to smokinga cigarette. In addition, the chemicals released by cigarettes and
cigars contain many poisons, such as benzene, butane, ammonia, toluene, and hydrogen cyanide

Clandestine Memorandums The 1800 s were a time when art merely showed our three dimensional
world on a two dimensional plane. Claude Monet, a famous French impression painter, sought to
change these Victorian standards that he so resented with his Impressionist ideals. During an art
exhibition in 1874, Monet debuted his painting Impression, Sunrise which was critiqued by many
other artists. One artist acridly dubbed it the title of Impression in that it did not focus on the scene
at hand but instead favored lighting. However, Monet did not let this get to him and in fact, let it
drive him to push for change in the art community. Monet used colors, technique, and
impressionismideals on to convey the new way that he believed art should be created. When one

however as stated by Yurasits in Analysis of Claude Monets Impression, Sunrise (2015) Every
painting Monet created had to meet a certain criteria before he could begin to consider it a finished
piece, and even then he could find the potential for change and growth in a painting and deny its
completion (para. 7). Monet, despite finding a piece finished, would go back any time that he felt
the work no longer matched his precedents. Although hard to tell from online images, Monet s

they showed how Monet used both the mixing of the pigments and depth to make his painting

Now? American Journal of Public Health 103.2 (2013): E1 E10. ProQuest. Web. 1 Mar. 2014.
Roy Grant, M.A., et al. conducted a review of family and childhood homelessness over a course
between a twenty five year span of the 1980 s to 2013. They reviewed journal articles, government
reports, and news stories to find any changes in conditions or the amount of family and childhood
homelessness. The review concluded family and childhood homelessness still exists but at a
larger scale than in the earlier years and a decrease in the attention given to childhood and family
homelessness. They also reported some of the factors leading to family and childhood
homelessness were the decline in economic conditions, increase of evictions, economic inequality,
and domestic violence. The review also noted a negative impact on a child s health and well being
and a child s behavioral health. Rent subsidies and shelter based programs have shown evidence to
aid in preventing childhood and family homelessness. They made suggestions to increase nutritional
programs as well as health and mental health services. This review supports my claim that
homelessness affects children in many ways and the number of homeless children in America is
growing.

Research Study On Stanford Prison Experiment
PART A: QUESTION ONE Research Design and Method: Name the experiment or research you
have chosen: Stanford Prison Experiment Name the researcher/s involved: Phillip Zimbardo
When was the experiment conducted? 1970 s What is the Research Problem being studied?
(Step One) The research problem being studied is; how does the attitude of the administrate in a
prison effect the lives and mindset of the inmates in the prison? that the state of the social
institution of prison is due to the nature of the people who administrate it, or the nature of the
people who populate it, or both. Zimbardo, 1973, A Study of Prisoners and Guards in a
Simulated Prison, page 2 Zimbardo implies the reason there are negative attitudes in prisons is
because of the authority figures in the prison rather than the inmates themselves (although to some
extent they do play a part in the aggression). What is the Hypothesis? (Step Two) the negative
personality traits of prisoners and guards are the main cause of abusive behaviour in prison. The
hypothesis was something that Zimbardo seemed to not entirely believe himself but thought it
some extent it had to be right, given other research in the field pointed toward I being true but
more on the prisoner s side, than the guards. Describe the Research Method (Experimental
Design)? (Step Three) The research method is quite simple, Zimbardo put an ad in a newspaper
asking for male volunteers to take part in a

How Did Scout Set A Watchman
Have you ever felt like you wee never afraid to speak your mind? That is what Jean Louise
Finch(Scout) felt like throughout this book. It is full of old things that Scout has missed out on,
and worse things yet to come. Go Set a watchman was written by the now deceased Harper Lee.
This book shows what the south is all about: money and drama.
The setting of this book is Alabama. It is mainly the town we know and love called Maycomb.
The time period is the 1950 s. The town has changed a lot from her childhood home being torn
apart to Finch s Landing being sold to a hunting club. i believe Lee chose this sort of setting to
show what the south was really like during this time period, considering she based this book off of
her experiences.
The main character of this book was the girl who never seemed to get out of old habits that we

Lee gives this message off by showing that these situations actually do happen in real life and it
not your regular fiction story. an example of this is when Jean Louise proves to attics that she
has grown up and can fight for what she believes in. I think that Lee wanted to show people that
life was harder than you think in that time period. Most people try to forget, but she kept it alive
to remind us that we can t change history. This book was different than I expected to be. Since
Harper lee did not have much say in this book being released, it was forced upon her and It was not
as good as To Kill a Mockingbird. It did not hold my Interest as much as I thought it would. I have
always enjoyed Lee s way of writing and I am glad she decided to switch the person up a bit from
first to third. I would recommend this book to a friend only to read it and seeing what it is all
about. i would do this only because I didn t like it very much as I mentioned before. I did enjoy
reading it, but not necessarily the way I came to read

Otto Von Bismarck
Otto von Bismarck was an important figure in the unification of Germany. Bismarck was
responsible for transforming a collection of small German states, unifying them into the German
empire, and becoming its first chancellor. Under the rule of William I, Bismarck was appointed
as Prime Minister of Prussia for assistance over budget. Bismarck urged the king to ignore the
liberals about the right to approve taxes and to instead strengthen the army. Thus making Bismarck
a leader of a unification movement. Bismarck success was due in part because he was a master of
Realpolitik, or realistic policies based on the needs of the state. Bismarck knew how to influence
public opinion through press leaks and doctored documents and his alterations to the Ems Telegram
were apart of his agenda in prompting war with France to further strengthen the German empire.
The original Ems Telegram was a report on an encounter between King William I of Prussiaand the
French ambassador at the time. Benedetti had been instructed by his superior, Foreign Minister to
present the French demand that the king should guarantee that he would never again permit the
candidacy of a Hohenzollern prince to the Spanish throne. The meeting was informal and took place
on the promenade of the Kursaal with the king s entourage at a discreet distance. Politely, and in a...

Bismarck knew how to manipulate public opinion through the press. This was one the first
instances of fake news being spread publicly. Bismarck altered the message by cutting out Wilhelm

Germans and the French. Thus, prompting France to declare

Analysis Of Chester Himes s If He Hollers Let Him Go
In Chester Himes , If He Hollers Let Him Go the racial tension between blacks and whites was
perfectly portrayed by protagonist Bob Jones and white counterpart, Madge. The relationship
between the two was a great example of the advantage that was taken of African Americans in the
United States before the Civil Rights Movement. Being friends with someone opposite of your race
was frowned upon. With that in mind, for a white woman and a black man to be in a relationship
was completely unacceptable. There were exceptions for any interracial couples. The memoir by
Lillian Smith, Killers of The Dream also discussed the sexual tension between blacks and whites.
In the 1940 s sex was already taboo to begin with. Since racial tension was also a... Show more

Back in that time, it only took the word of a white man or woman to convince a jury, mostly
comprised of all white men and woman, that a black man rapped a woman for them to be killed.
For Bob, to even think about wanting to pursue any type of sexual relationship with Madge
involves enough risk that he cannot take because it could easily compromise his relationship
with Alice and most obvious, his life. Lillian Smith explains in her memoir that in order to move
forward in societal change, something needs to be done about the treatment of interracial
marriage and how it is seen in the United States. In order for that change to occur, first we need
to recognize the way African Americans are being treated in our society. There is a tremendous
stigma of having sex before marriage in the deep south back in the 1940 s as well as today. Being
that Smith was raised in a conservative town with values reflecting that notion, it would be
extremely hard to get away with Rules against exploring ones body went as far as saying that
certain parts were segregated saying that you cannot associate freely with them any more than you
can associate freely with colored children (Smith 87). These principles were specific to the person
and their own body and one can only imagine the limitations on interracial relations. As a young
child, Smith

He is a round character. He is a real character, who is thought to be based upon Tomas Garride

and believes that the church preaches false promises to the people.
The lieutenant is described as having a very strong and resolute temperament. As a disciplined

Essay Fight Club
Chuck Palahniuk s Fight Club is a seductive novel which chronicles an unnamed narrator s ability
to cope with an emasculated, self centered, materialistic society by creating an alter ego.
Throughout the text, the theme of the emasculated modern man is presented both in the life of the
narrator, and in the lives of the male characters he surrounds himself with. Through notions of
absent fathers, consumerism and an innocuous/aimless existence, Palahniuk presents how men in
modern society have lost their masculine identity and the extreme actions they go to in order to
obtain it again. Belittled by their absent fathers, broken homes, and a feminine centered society, the
men in Fight Club present an incisive notion of the lives of modern... Show more content on

The Fight Club, then, is a way which men can express their angst in a much more masculine,
albeit sadomasochistic, way. The invention of Fight Club is never stated directly, but its
intention is indicated through the language of the narrator and the rationale of its members.
Foremost, the narrator describes the members of Fight Club as a generation of men raised by
women (50). The masculine identity, then, is an identity which has been lost to the feminized
egotism in a deranged reality of postmodernism. Coupled with the lack of absent fathers the
generation of modern men are wildly feminized. The narrator describes how his father
abandoned him to set up new families or franchises (50) every six years, and states that he is a
thirty year old boy [...] wondering if another woman is really the answer [he] needs (51). The
absent fathers in the narrator s, and equally in Tyler s, life eventually lead to the invention of Fight
Club. Fight club is a way in which emasculated men can act the way men are supposed to and
finally find a masculine figure to model themselves after. In creating Tyler, the narrator s search for
a masculine model is taken to the extreme. Tyler is a manifestation of man who the narrator and
other men can model themselves after. Tyler represents the masculine identity, Tyler is funny and
charming and forceful and independent, and men look up to him and expect him to change their
world the narrator explains

Religion In Massachusetts Bay Colonies
The Puritan community of the Massachusetts Bay colony was primarily focused around church and
faith. In 1630, a mass exodus of Puritans moved from England to the colonies in an attempt to
isolate themselves and focus on their own religion. Puritans believed that they had a covenant with
God, meaning they were predestined for heaven.
In the colony of Massachusetts bay, around 9,000 Puritans settled down to make their own model
society based on religious purity. In their community, going to church was an absolute necessity.
One could not be part of the community unless they were members of the church. The government
and religion were so closely woven that they were nearly the same thing. When town meetings were
held, the only way to vote in

Lenders will charge higher interest rates than for conventional mortgages as they seek to

Banks became increasingly worried about both the value of their own mortgage books and
particularly the value of the mortgage securitised investments they had bought from other
institutions As a result they became reluctant to lend to other banks in the short term money
markets. This crisis of confidence led to major liquidity problems for many banks and insurance
companies worldwide. Liquidity means the ability of institutions, including banks, to meet their
short term obligations including repayment of short term loans.
The oil price eventually peaked at $147 per barrel in mid 2008.
How did the crisis develop during 2008?
The Bank of England had to provide financial support to the Northern Rock Building Society in

Melbourne Magistrate s Court Case
For the purpose of this report, a visit to the Melbourne Magistrate s Court was made on 22nd
March, 2016. On this day, the second day of a four day committal hearing was heard regarding the
matter of Omer Cicekdag, presided over by Magistrate Ann Collins.
The matter of Omer Cicekdag was that of criminal nature, as it is alleged the defendant committed
murder. In July of 2015, Ali Duyar (the victim) was found in the middle of the Bloomsfield Road,
Keysborough, at approximately 5.30pm having suffered significant gunshot wounds. Duyar was
taken to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition but died overnight. In statements given by
witnesses at the hearing, Omer Cicekdag (the defendant) had shown his firearms to members of the
family. Following the incident, one of the two firearms he had in his possession was given to his
sister by him in a bag. The weapon was subsequently handed into the police.
As mentioned earlier, case at the outlined period of time was two days into a four day committal
hearing. Committal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

lawyer was acting to undermine the veracity and reasonableness of her statement, done so by
repeated insinuations that her memory was at fault. This approach was seen again while cross

the character of the witness through mention of his prior criminal convictions. The defence also
seemed to be trading on the fact that the witness was intimidated by being in court, and also his
apparent limited mental facilities. The role of the adversarial advocate was also reflected by the
prosecution solicitor, who in re examination of the first witness sought to focus on points made by
the witness that established a distasteful character of the

What Is The Study Of Law Essay
Not so long ago, I graduated from college; perhaps the first completed book of my lifetime. I
decided to savor it first, knowing how much I invested to achieve it. However, with no absolute
control over things, I just found myself being a law student.
Almost already a year, and still, I feel that I have not adjusted well. There are times when I
would just stare into space asking myself if this is the right path for me to take; if this is really I
would like to do. I appear to be prepared most of the time, but I know myself better than anyone
else. I know that so far, what makes me survive law school is anchored in luck. As they say, it is
better to be lucky than good. But I feel sooner or later, it will run out. The study of law, I did not...

There is a portion of me that wants to explain to everybody the beauty of the industry they
wrongfully construe. However, that would be impossible. Even the law does not require the
impossible. Still, I feel that by learning more about it, I can use what knowledge I will acquire to
spread it even with just a handful of individuals, with the hope that one of them will share the
same interest, will study further, and do the same. The method is slow, unassuming and does not
guarantee success, yet there is a possibility and probability. And that is enough. Consequently, to
study law is to invest not just money, time or effort. To study the law, you need to offer a part of
yourself. Whether or not you will love each other back, or find another that will love you even
more, the industry will already be part of your history. The feeling of being called every recitation,
the little prayers being muttered every shuffling of the cards, those tears and sweats, and smiles,
are all part of the memory be it distant or fond.
There s no assurance what will happen tomorrow. My uncertainties might overpower my reasons to
pursue law, but still, I will not regret the day I entertained the crazy idea of doing of

My Motorcycle Wreck
All my life I have been around motorcycles. My father used to let me ride on the back with him
when I was a young child. I remember the feeling that I would get when he would accelerate. As
soon as I could touch the ground, I owned a dirt bike. I used to love going fast and wheeling
down the road for the neighborhood girls to see. We used to spend hours working on bikes
together. That is when I started to become obsessed with motorcycles.
January 31st, 2016 is the day that I got my first motorcycle. It was the day my fiancГ© and I were
moving to Jacksonville, Florida. We drove for about twenty minutes, until I got a call from my
cousin. He said, Cody I will trade my motorcycle for your car. So, we met in the Walmart parking
lot in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. When he pulled up with the motorcycle, I was excited.
Then, I took a joy ride around the parking lot. I could not believe I finally could have my own
motorcycle. I traded my car with a bad transmission for the bike. We were barely able to pick the
back of the bike up to get it in the U Haul truck. When we got here the movers had beat us here,
and were waiting impatiently. So, when we opened the back of the truck and they saw my heavy
motorcycle they were thrilled.
Five months later, I have been living here for a little while now and driving my motorcycle
everywhere has become normal for me. One night, I was on my way to work at the nursing home. I

  • 2. Lysistrata by Aristophanes All is fair in love and war, right? Right! Aristophanes play Lysistrata is exactly that, but with a twist. The play takes its name from the main female heroine, you guessed it, Lysistrata, an Athenian woman with a plan to stop the Peloponnessian war. Taking an in depth look on how, we can look at her leadershipqualities that helped to make this happen in the play. From keeping the womanin line, to depriving the men of sex, just how does she do it? First lets examine creativity. Lysistrata hatches a plan to put an end to the Peloponnessian war once and for all. In the first act of the play, she sets forth the motions to accomplish this in three parts. The first of which is to deny the sexual pleasures that all the woman offer to men in Athens until a truce is made between both nations to end the war. With all the wives and women rallied together and working on the same page, she sets forth the next of her moves in seizing and occupying the Akropolis and its riches to fund the war. Using these 2 motions set forth she denies the men of Athens much needed funds to keep the armies moving, and denial of all the sexual pleasures a woman can offer her man. slowly driving the men to look for an end to the war. Next lets examine confidence. Lysistrata from the beginning of the play exudes it in such a way that is noticeable but not overwhelming. Right of the bat she tells the woman who slowly start showing up that she has a plan to save Athens and Greece from their long ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The And On Startup Valuations A How To on Startup Valuations Valuations are often referred to as an art, rather than a science. An outsider to the field would assume that there was one precise way to set the value for a growing company, but in the end it comes to preference. Each company is different with assets that are unique and not easily compared to others. At a baseline level, a valuation matters because it determines the share of the company [entrepreneurs] have to give away to an investor in exchange for money (Vital 2013). With billions of dollars on the line in a valuation, different methods are employed to determine accurate valuations. Proposed methods can vary based on company type, stage of funding, and many other characteristics. Bill Payne, long time angel investor, offers four popular methods as a starting point for startup valuation. These span from the Venture CapitalMethod in which valuations get their basis from potential return rates from exit events, the Berkus Method in which monetary standards are set against the progress a startup has made in commercialization, to the Scorecard Valuation Process in which the company is compared in a certain region and vertical range based on a set of characteristics, finally the Risk Factor Summation Method in which characteristics are again inspected in terms of what is expected in the future (Hudson 2015) . While in the process of determining companies to fund, Venture Capital firms examine some of these same characteristics on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Social And Cultural Events In The 20th And 21st Century Education has been affected greatly by social and cultural events of the 20th and 21st centuries. Because education follows the moves of society, the need for new skills in life and in the workplace change and students can be career and college ready. This, however, has not always been the case. The first of two main cultural and social events focused on are the events that led up to the Brown vs. the Board of EducationSupreme Court case, which resulted in the desegregation of schools. The second are the effects that the Great Recession had on the education system. In the 1940s the Civil Rights Movement began gaining strength and the country began moving slowly to desegregation. In 1947, in the face of much opposition, Jackie Robinson became the first African Americanbaseball player. When he traveled to the south he was denied access into hotels, restaurants, and other venues because of this race. Because Robinson was in the army the armed forces became desegregated in 1948 and eventually led to the elimination of segregated schools (Schwartz, 2003). During this era African American students were in separate but equal schools although many black schools suffered from poor facilities and a lack of funding and other amenities that were provided at white schools. Black students were often bussed great distances to attend school. In 1952, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) lawyers represented the case Brown vs. the Board of education. This case dealt with the right of a black child to attend an all white school close to her home instead of being bussed across town to the all black school. Initially, the ruling was in favor of the Board of Education, but the adverse effects of separate but equal schooling on the black community were clearly shown (Schwartz, 2003). African Americans were also held back by not having the right to vote. A literacy exam was required to be passed in order to vote. Because of their schooling restrictions, many African Americans were illiterate, which denied them of the right to vote. A workshop for the United Nations drew several community members and teachers from the south (Horton, Freire, 1990). One member who attended ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Embryonic Stem Cells Ethical There are many diseases that have the potential to affect every single person in the world. Some are curable and some are not. However, some cells called stem cells may impact and help many people. Stem cells are what are called undifferentiated cells, which means that they are not specialized cells. However, they can develop into all different kinds of cells within the body. So through this, stem cells control the development of the body by evolving into the cells the body needs to survive, or even replacing worn out or destroyed cells (Levine and Miller 294 297). These cells can reproduce to make more of themselves through cell division. In the long run, stem cells enable the body to continue functioning and to stay healthy (Stem Cell). Researchers use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is little argument against using adult stem cells because when used, a donor consents to donate their cells. However, there are many arguments against using embryonic stem cells because these come from embryos, one of the earliest stages of a baby. There are those who fight against it because they believe that embryos have the same rights as every other human being and should not be used for this. Some feel very strongly because while taking the cells from it, the embryo is destroyed. However, the other side to the argument is that stem cells from these embryos can be used to help save many others from death. One can see how hard it is to decide what to choose because either way, there is a death and a life on the line. This also makes it hard for researchers to get funding to continue researching. However, technological advancements may help to prevent any more disagreements by erasing the notion of using embryos at all. There is hope that there is a certain way that extracting stem cells from the embryo may not harm it at all. It also may be possible to use adult stem cells in place of the embryo cells (Levine and Miller ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of Signs Preceding The End Of The World Signs Preceding the End of the World Signs Preceding the End of the World is an insider s look at the mind and journey of an illegal immigrant. A Mexican young woman crossing the border story is what challenges the ethics of readers. The main character in Signs Preceding the End of the World is Makina. Makina is in charge of a small Mexican town s telephone. A reliable, messenger, she knows how to keep a secret and when to keep her mouth shut. She is dangerous when threatened, quick to defend herself against lecherous fools, and unafraid of speaking truth to power (Long). Makina is just like an ordinary person. She is no different from an average American. Makina has a job and harmless when not threatened. Americans act as if immigrants are so beneath them. Immigrants are hard workers, just like Americans. Immigrants want better lives for themselves and their families, just like Americans. Americans and immigrants are not the only ones who want these things. People all around the world want what is best for everyone they know. Most people will do whatever it takes to get to what they need; even if it is in life threatening conditions. Signs Preceding the End of the World challenges our ethics by placing the reader in the mind of an illegal immigrant, allowing the reader to know the true feelings and experience of the immigrant. The reader s ethics are first challenged when Makina began her journey; when the reader finds out that Makina needs to find her brother that has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This tournament is ranked third just behind the super bowl and FIFA World Cup. It s unbelievable to think that one of the top sporting events in the world is in college athletics. It combines three readings to achieve results: heart/blood pressure, respiration, and skin conductivity. The heart and blood pressure is measured with a blood pressure cuff around the wrist, respiration is judged using pneumographs around the chest, and skin conductivity is found by electrodes placed on the fingertips. The subject is then asked a series of preliminary questions to set readings and ensure that the equipment is working. A leader s style can be classified as transactional, transformational, or what is considered level 5. A transactional leader creates a very structured environment. Those leaders employing transactional leadership create clearly defined responsibilities for employees and subordinates. Transactional leadership details the rewards for success; unfortunately, transactional leadership also encompasses an element of punishment for failure. The punishment can be something as simple as a reprimand for small infractions up to termination for more serious infractions; the consequences are usually well documented as a formal policy. The transformational leadership style goes far beyond transactional leadership. A transformational leadership style is characterized by high energy, sensibility, clarity in direction, and empathy. Transformational leaders inspire subordinates to go beyond the norm and achieve goals on a greater scale than they thought possible. The transformational leader promotes a mentoring relationship rather than a monitoring relationship. Which leadership style is better? The answer would be neither, both have their place. • 11. Poverty Deviant And Poverty When discussing deviance and what most people classify as deviant, many won t admit that they find people who are poor, and people who are ethically different as deviant. But when observing people s actions, it is obvious that they do. We are all guilty of purposely avoiding walking near a homeless person, or avoiding eye contact with them at a stop light. These action and behaviors prove that we see these people as deviant. I agree with Goode, that povertycan take individuals and make them deviant or make them more deviant than they already were. Shame is what the poverty stricken individuals feel, (Goode 85), which makes these individuals more likely to partake in illegal activities. They will partake in these activities as a sort of income, for example the using and selling drugs, or they will partake in these activities because they know they are already stigmatized, and there is no point in trying to prove otherwise. Which further proves that being poor may be deviant on its own but it also causes deviance. If middle and upper class Americans were more open and accepting to the poor, then I think they would be less likely to commit deviant acts. Poverty is a self fulfilling prophecy because it is harder for these individuals to better themselves when they are already labeled as deviant. Another problem with American society is how hard it is for poor individuals to find success because the rich are richer and the poor are poorer, (Goode 88). The top 1% in America hold most of the money, leaving very little for those who are considered poor. This then becomes a never ending cycle because middle and upper class kids attend very good schools and receive educations that will allow them to find success in life, and those kids who are in working and lower classes, go to over crowded schools with very little resources. This makes it very difficult for these kids to take their educations further and go to college. I personally struggled with the transition from high school to college due to the education I received. I went to a Denver Public School which has a reputation of being trashy or ghetto . Luckily, as a whole Colorado has a good education system, but I know I wasn t challenged enough in high ... The American Revolutionary War ( 1775-1783 ) Essay The American Revolutionary War (1775 1783), was a war between the Kingdom of Great Britain and thirteen colonies on the North American continent. There was not a specific event that led to the Revolutionary War. American colonies wanted full democratic rights, but the British only saw them as colonies to be used and exploited. The British saw the colonies as economic entities that could pay for their own defense. Many of the colonists would have been willing to pay for their own defense. With the condition that they would have a voice when it came to making decisions. The British ignored the colonies demands. As a result, the British developed the separate and unique American identity. Over a ten year time period many colonists began to identify themselves as Americans. Once the American identity was defined, The American Revolutionary War became inevitable. After America won its independence from Great Britain, there was a need for unity among the new states. The needs for unity lead to the creation of The Articles of Confederation. These Articles represent the first constitutional agreement made between 13 American states. The Articles of confederation served as a written document establishing the functions of the government and the United States. The purpose of the Articles was to provide a general government of the 13 colonies that had won their freedom from British rule and to bring unity of the new states. A team is described as a group of people that works together and cooperatively, between each member of the group to reach a common goal (Sullivan, 2013). For a team to function, communication is essential. A report by McKay and Crippen (2008), as stated by Alfaro LeFevre, (2013) showed that when collaboration is in place, hospitals can decrease their mortality rate by 41%. When mortality rate is lower, hospitals does not only decreased cost, but it also means that patients are receiving good quality care. In the hospital, a team includes a CEO, managers, supervisors, charge nurses, medical doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers and maintenance crews; it can also include many other members. In addition, a well functioning team is led by a good leader; a leader does not necessary mean the CEO, but someone who is driven, knowledgeable, and a good communicator. Charge nurse and nurses are normally the one that handles the care of patients in the hospital. Both charge nurses and nurses can be considered leaders. It is why, it is very crucial that nurses are good communicators. One would say that nurses are the spoke person of a hospital to its patients. There are two way of doing it: the simple or one way analysis of variance due to the presence of one grouping dimension and the other one is called factorial design. The factorial design is complex, it is similar to the simple ANOVA with the addition of more level to the group. For example: number of girls in group1, group2, group 3 would be simple, now when we add to each group another level like number of boys that would make it to factorial because each group would have girls and boys. 4 Once you have selected the right statistical test, in our case the t test then we will calculate the effect size to find out whether the result is meaningful or not. The t test helps us to understand whether there is statistics significance difference or not. In our example, we want to find the t test of independency mean. To calculate the t test we need to calculate the mean, variance (used to calculate the effect size), SD of each lab results. Coal is retrieved from underground and taken to factories to be burnt to create electricity or to fuel the steel mills. 1 What is coal? Coal is a substance we consider today a fossil fuel, created from all the dead plants millions of years ago. Coal is formed from prehistoric plants that when they die are not able to release the energy they built up from photosynthesis Typically the plants had fallen into large swamps and bogs, and then over time the dead plants lying on the bottom of the swamps and bogs were slowly covered with other dead plants and sediment build up. Once buried the plants were subjected to high amounts of pressure and temperatures, which over long periods of time it becomes peat then eventually creates coal. We refer to coal as a fossil fuel today because it is created from prehistoric plants and the coal we have today has been millions of years since it was in plant form. Today we coal is still being created we just don t fully recognize it because how long the process actually takes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Overcoming various obstacles, the protagonist demonstrates her maturity throughout the journey, where she chooses to make decisions for the sake of the kingdom of Green Land. Saving the kingdom from the unnatural creature, the girl s actions and maturity serve as a platform in addressing today s public affairs. Although Matilda is portrayed as a female child heroine, Colin Manlove implies that Nesbit suggests that the capabilities of female children are underestimated in his journal article entitled Fantasy as Witty Conceit: E. In this journal article, Manlove critiques that there are two sides of Nesbit the realist and the supernaturalist ...where magic is given a colloquial and comic face, and is brought into contact with very human children (126). This implies that the direct audience are those oppressed by society s double standards, especially female children, and the indirect audience are those who ridicule the capabilities of the oppressed. The story draws attention to social issues ( realist ) by assimilating fantasy fiction ( supernaturalist ). In this case, both children and women are belittled due to their age and gender, respectively. Since gender bias is an issue, professors, who published the journal article Gender Differences in Children s Hero Attributions: Personal Hero Choices and Evaluations of Typical Male and Female Heroes, observe that boys were expected to endorse heroes for their ability to act on the world (instrumental attributes) and for their wealth or fame (prestige) more than girls (Holub, et al. 569). For example, some kids were born in Bryn Mawr, Philadelphia, and some kids were born in Trinidad and Tobago. The kids come from many different backgrounds, but all unite because they understand the world the same. Alike the Native Americans and African tribes, the Venom perform the same rituals before each game and practice. Children are more susceptible to suffer the detrimental health effects of secondhand smoke because they breathe in more air than adults due to their size and weight. In addition, children are constantly growing and developing. During their development stage, children are more sensitive to the consequences of secondhand smoke, which is ultimately dangerous to their immune and respiratory systems. Furthermore, secondhand smoke is significantly harmful to children with asthma, which is a chronic health condition whose symptoms include coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Roy Grant, M.A., et al. conducted a review of family and childhood homelessness over a course between a twenty five year span of the 1980 s to 2013. They reviewed journal articles, government reports, and news stories to find any changes in conditions or the amount of family and childhood homelessness. The review concluded family and childhood homelessness still exists but at a larger scale than in the earlier years and a decrease in the attention given to childhood and family homelessness. They also reported some of the factors leading to family and childhood homelessness were the decline in economic conditions, increase of evictions, economic inequality, and domestic violence. The review also noted a negative impact on a child s health and well being and a child s behavioral health. Rent subsidies and shelter based programs have shown evidence to aid in preventing childhood and family homelessness. Bismarck was responsible for transforming a collection of small German states, unifying them into the German empire, and becoming its first chancellor. Bismarck urged the king to ignore the liberals about the right to approve taxes and to instead strengthen the army. Thus making Bismarck a leader of a unification movement. The masculine identity, then, is an identity which has been lost to the feminized egotism in a deranged reality of postmodernism. Fight club is a way in which emasculated men can act the way men are supposed to and finally find a masculine figure to model themselves after. In creating Tyler, the narrator s search for a masculine model is taken to the extreme. Tyler is a manifestation of man who the narrator and other men can model themselves after. Tyler represents the masculine identity, Tyler is funny and charming and forceful and independent, and men look up to him and expect him to change their world the narrator explains ... Throughout the defence s cross examination of the first witness, it became very clear that the lawyer was acting to undermine the veracity and reasonableness of her statement, done so by repeated insinuations that her memory was at fault. This approach was seen again while cross examining the second witness, where the defence relentlessly chipped away in a dogged fashion at the character of the witness through mention of his prior criminal convictions. The defence also seemed to be trading on the fact that the witness was intimidated by being in court, and also his apparent limited mental facilities. The role of the adversarial advocate was also reflected by the prosecution solicitor, who in re examination of the first witness sought to focus on points made by the witness that established a distasteful character of the ... Typically, a right handed person will hold the guitar so the headstock points to the left, whereas a left handed person will hold the guitar so the headstock points to the right. (NOTE: to play the guitar as a lefty would, you will need a left handed guitar.)When playing the guitar sitting down, the body of the guitar will rest on one of your legs. In most styles of guitar playing, the guitar will rest on the leg farthest away from the headstock. This means, a person playing the guitar in a right handed fashion will typically rest the guitar on his/her right leg, while someone playing the guitar in a lefty manner will rest it on their left leg. (NOTE: proper classical guitarist technique dictates the exact OPPOSITE of the above, but for this lesson, let s stick to our initial explanation)| Next, concentrate on your fretting hand (the hand closest to the neck of the guitar, when sitting in proper position). The thumb of your fretting hand should rest behind the neck of the guitar, with your fingers in a slightly curled position, poised above the strings. • 53. What Is The Study Of Law Essay Not so long ago, I graduated from college; perhaps the first completed book of my lifetime. I decided to savor it first, knowing how much I invested to achieve it. However, with no absolute control over things, I just found myself being a law student. Almost already a year, and still, I feel that I have not adjusted well. There are times when I would just stare into space asking myself if this is the right path for me to take; if this is really I would like to do. I appear to be prepared most of the time, but I know myself better than anyone else. I know that so far, what makes me survive law school is anchored in luck. As they say, it is better to be lucky than good. But I feel sooner or later, it will run out. The study of law, I did not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a portion of me that wants to explain to everybody the beauty of the industry they wrongfully construe. However, that would be impossible. Even the law does not require the impossible. Still, I feel that by learning more about it, I can use what knowledge I will acquire to spread it even with just a handful of individuals, with the hope that one of them will share the same interest, will study further, and do the same. The method is slow, unassuming and does not guarantee success, yet there is a possibility and probability. And that is enough. Consequently, to study law is to invest not just money, time or effort. To study the law, you need to offer a part of yourself. Whether or not you will love each other back, or find another that will love you even more, the industry will already be part of your history. The feeling of being called every recitation, the little prayers being muttered every shuffling of the cards, those tears and sweats, and smiles, are all part of the memory be it distant or fond. There s no assurance what will happen tomorrow. My uncertainties might overpower my reasons to pursue law, but still, I will not regret the day I entertained the crazy idea of doing of ... • 54. Narrative Autobiography On A Motorcycle Cody Ball Instructor Name Course Number Date My Motorcycle Wreck All my life I have been around motorcycles. My father used to let me ride on the back with him when I was a young child. I remember the feeling that I would get when he would accelerate. As soon as I could touch the ground, I owned a dirt bike. I used to love going fast and wheeling down the road for the neighborhood girls to see. We used to spend hours working on bikes together. That is when I started to become obsessed with motorcycles. January 31st, 2016 is the day that I got my first motorcycle. It was the day my fiancГ© and I were moving to Jacksonville, Florida. We drove for about twenty minutes, until I got a call from my cousin. He said, Cody I will trade my motorcycle for your car. So, we met in the Walmart parking lot in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. When he pulled up with the motorcycle, I was excited. Then, I took a joy ride around the parking lot. I could not believe I finally could have my own motorcycle. I traded my car with a bad transmission for the bike. We were barely able to pick the back of the bike up to get it in the U Haul truck. When we got here the movers had beat us here, and were waiting impatiently. So, when we opened the back of the truck and they saw my heavy motorcycle they were thrilled. Five months later, I have been living here for a little while now and driving my motorcycle everywhere has become normal for me. One night, I was on my way to work at the nursing home. I was ...
