for educating their patients about different medication, diseases, treatments, and healthy lifestyle

Most of coronary care units deliver a high level of very specialized cardiac care. Nurses are
responsible to monitor and care for acutely ill patients or they may take charge of cardiac
rehabilitation and help patients who are chronically ill to make lifestyle changes in order to prevent
the worsening of their health condition. A variety of healthcare team member work together to provide
continuous cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring and deliver expert care to all patients during the
recovery stage either from a cardiac surgery, a heart failure, an angina, or any cardiac dysrhythmias.
Coronary care nurses play a huge part in the unit. They are required to use their nursing skills,
knowledge, and best judgment in interpreting patient s rhythm and monitoring hemodynamics. On the

Did The Marshall Plan Help Europe
Did the Marshall Plan actually want to help Europe or did they just want to stop Communism from
spreading into Europe?
In this essay I will be using a variety of sources to help me answer and examine The Marshall Plan, as
well as my research question.
To begin with, what was the Marshall Plan, in other words The European Recovery Program ? It was a
planned by George Marshall, who was secretary of State at the time; his vision was to rebuild Europe
after World War 2. Some might say, the real reason that the United States helped out was to stop the
spreading of communism from Stalin, since Russia was along the borders of the Eastern Europe
countries, and those were the countries US wanted to help. The USSR hated the idea of the Marshall
Aid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bicycle has a flag at the back of it quoting Marshall Plan. This shows us that the bicycle is seen to
be as the Marshall Plan alongside Europe. The is also a sign on the side road referring to directions,
directing the road to Self Support. What the author is trying to show the viewer is the critical condition
the Marshall Plan is in. The nice man on the side, American Taxpayer is encouraging a big and
overweight man who is symbolized to be Europe to Keep Pumpin ! on the road to Self Support. The
message that the cartoon is trying to send to the viewer is that, the cartoon may not be criticism, but
only that the American s are committed and dedicated that the Marshall Plan go in the correct
direction. It is also important to realize how the guy is portrayed to be an American Taxpayer, since
the Marshall Plan was a not simply by a government judgment but by financial commitment that was
born by an average every day American

The Nature Of Technology In Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury
I rate Fahrenheit 451 a one star , because I found the writer s style uninteresting. The author, Ray
Bradbury, failed to pull me in, and the novel didn t open my eyes to the viewpoints portrayed in the
novel. Although Fahrenheit 451 carries themes of rebirth of society, government censorship, and the
nature of humanity, these themes were overwhelmed by one theme that bled into every action,
dialogue piece, and narrative section: technology corrupts. This theme could have made for a
wonderful book, as there are intriguing and thoughtful pieces on the nature of technology, like the TV
series Black Mirror. Black Mirror offers both positives and negatives to each piece of technology it
covers in each episode it poses questions like how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knowing this, many of the characters make more sense: Mildred and her friends can t even
comprehend the thought of reading, and every character who does read has amazing wisdom, no
matter their age. Which brings me to the second point of why I dislike the book: it preaches at every
available moment. Whether it s the teenage girl giving a monologue or the scared old man, all the
characters sound the same when they re preaching Bradbury s anti technology agenda. Subsequently,
they don t exist as round characters, they only exist to preach Bradbury s views, which ranges from
the dislikes of the arts or listening to radio through earbuds. He presumes that someone who watches
TV or listens to radio cannot enjoy the world around them, however, in my view, these medias have
only broadened our view of the world. Many of us will not be able to go to Africa, but through TV
documentaries, we can. The jazz of New Orleans would be out of reach for most, were it not for radio
and other electronic transmissions. Perhaps Bradbury might have had a real fear of the changes a
world view would initiate when the book was written, but now it carries the gravitas of someone
wearing a tin foil hat. I couldn t enjoy the book because I found the characters flat and uninteresting.
Many of them have no character development except for Montag, but his development doesn t come
from a great self

My Life At The Beach House
You might not know my name or who I am, but that is not important, my story is important. I had a
twin brother named Neels. He died in a car crash along with my mother when I was only five years
old. After my brothers and mother s death, my father thought it would be geniality for us to move to a
beach house, to get distances from the memories. I still remember the house like it was just yesterday,
baby blue with special memories of my father and I.
That beach house brought great time but it also brought the worst times of my life. Next door was an
extremely large mansion, although there lived a very rich and pretty lady named Mariana. The beach

I was about seven years old, I was sitting on the edge of the couch with my feet dangling in the air
looking up at my father enjoying him watch TV. We heard a knock at the door. I looked at my father
Who could have come so late to greet us I asked my father.
Mr. Johnson: They didn t come to greet us, darling why don t, you head upstairs now
I: Daddy, why do I have to head upstairs?
Mr. Johnson: no response....
I knew I had to head upstairs because I never liked getting my father angry and he always had his
reasons. However, I didn t pay close attention; instead I hid beside the stairs. I could hear my father
talking to someone, though I couldn t see who my father was talking to. Then I decided to head
upstairs because whoever my father was talking too was not important. It was just business related,
but right as I was leaving Mr. Mysteries guy said something that captured my attention. Mr. Johnson ,
I had to see who that man was! The hint of my father being called Mr. Johnson didn t even pop or
imagine in my head at that time. All I got to see was half of his face, he had a scar on his right
eyebrow, and before Mr. Mystery s guy could leave I heard something else, something about fake
passports and ID s, although I didn t understand why.

The Spanish Dream Of Christopher Columbus And The American...
Thesis The initial Spanish settlers were both successful and not successful as well in achieving their
American Dream in due to the fact that they had the missions and their control over California as well
as lost all of their hold on California and the missions because of the Mexicans that rebelled against
the Spanish Crown.12
Origins
The Spanish were a group of people from the great country of Spain in Europe. The rulers at the time,
Ferdinand the Second of Aragon and Isabella of Castille was able to finance one man. The man was
the legendary explorer of the seas, Christopher Columbus.3 He was the one who started the Spanish
interest of the Americas. He showed the Crown what the Americas have.
Christopher Columbus was the one to land in the Americas first for the Spanish Empire, but not the
first Spaniard to land and set up Spain s grip on the Northern Americas, especially in California. That
belonged to Hernan Cortés. Cortés s voyage was first funded by a third party, Diego Velázquez. The
voyage before the its original sail out date was canceled by Diego Velázquez and Cortés s voyage was
lost. Cortés got word of this and sailed out the night before the original sail date before anything could
happen to it and him in 1519.45 He wanted his chance to explore the world and to look for the
legendary Strait of Anián. The Strait of Anián was this pathway from the Americas to the Far East in
Asia that no explorer has found.6 Cortés landed in the middle of the Americas and found out about the
Aztec Empire that was ruled by Montezuma after he set up a fishing village called Pontonchan. Cortés
first went to Tenochitlán, the City of Dreams , and was shocked to see the advancement that the Aztecs
had.78 He also found out about what the Aztecs do in their free time. The Aztecs were violent to their
neighbors, they were cannibals, and the Aztecs performed human sacrifices.9 This was a good motive
for Cortés to conquer the Aztec empire. Cortés wanted to push more North as well, but could not get
far.
Cortés got up to Baja California in the 1530 s. Another explorer, after Cortés, went to push into Alta
California. He was Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo. Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo pushed up a good distance into
Alta California

Case Trimmer:
Because brass cases can stretch after firing and resizing, trimming is sometimes necessary to ensure
proper case length. There are many different types and styles of case trimmers. They are typically
manually operated or motorized. Most trimmers require a shell holder and pilot specific to the caliber
being trimmed.
Deburring Tool:
A tool used to deburr and chamfer the case mouth after case trimming. These are typically universal,
designed to work on all cases.
Calipers:
A caliper is a tool used to measure the empty case length after resizing and the trimming operations.
Calipers are also used to check the case overall length (COL). These can be either a dial caliper or
digital.

Why Is China Weak Or Strong
Are Women in China Weak or Strong?
For years, it has been debated on whether or not women in China were weak or strong. In China,
women were regarded as the lesser gender. Yet, does that necessarily mean that women in China are
weak? There are facts supporting both opinions, but I believe there are more signs pointing towards
how resilient and strong women actually are. Women in China were exceptionally strong despite being
persecuted for their gender; Although these women were required by tradition to serve their husbands
or bind their feet, they still lived and conquered on. The three main points I believe that show how
strong women from China are is that women are respected, even though their gender is, lesser, women
still live their life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of this is a quote which states Apart from these offerings, human sacrifices, were
performed so Fu Hao would have servants in the afterlife. ; Fu Hao was also a military leader, a
shaman / priestess, and an influential politician who lived a life that Chinese women only dreamed
about. This quote serves to remind that Fu Hao received not only the same treatment as men in China,
but also was buried the same way that pharaohs in Egypt were buried. It also speaks wonders to the
fact that if her husband did not respect her, she would not be. An additional quote that speaks volumes
about this particular issue is, as mothers and mother in laws, a good deal of honor . Something that
men need/needed to keep in mind about women was that without a woman, they would not be alive.
No matter what society, place, or time period that someone was or is living in, women do have
motherhood working in their advantage, and motherhood is not something that will or ever can be
taken away from women. The third and last quote is, if a man died and his sons were not yet old
enough to be the head of the family, the women would fill the place till the sons were old enough ;
This quote was chosen because I feel as though if women were through not respected, then there
would have been a different way or some other person to lead . This shows respect because putting
your son or son s life in the hands of someone so lowly seems to be an enormous

Inhibitory Neurotransmitters
What are Neurotransmitters?
Neurotransmitters are various chemicals in the brain that work to convey information throughout the
brain and the rest of the body. They work to intensify electrical signals that are passed to neurons
(nerve cells). The brain holds the role of coordinating and processing complex information, and how
the brain deals with this job depends on the delicate balance of several different chemicals.
Neurotransmitters allow nerve cells to communicate messages by secreting these chemicals and
sending impulses across a synapse (the junction point between two neurons). There are many
requirements in which a molecule must meet in order to be classified as a neurotransmitter. Firstly, the
molecule must be synthesized inside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also regulates pleasurable emotions. Drugs such as heroin, cocaine, nicotine, and alcohol increase
the level of dopamine in the body. A drastically low level of dopamine has been linked to Parkinson s
disease, while schizophrenics are frequently found to have too much dopamine in the frontal lobes of
their brains. In addition, imbalances in this neurotransmitter have been linked to cases of attention
deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Serotonin is a vital inhibitory monoamine neurotransmitter
that can have strong effects on emotion, mood, awareness, and anxiety levels. It is involved in
controlling sleep, alertness, and eating. Psychedelic drugs, such as LSD, connect to the serotonin
receptor sites, and thus hinder the transmission of nerve impulses in order to change sensory
experiences. Depression, suicide, spontaneous behaviour, and hostility all appear to involve certain
discrepancies in the balance of serotonin

to mess with Othello is by making her sound like she has been sleeping with other men such as
Roderigo and Cassio. Iago is able to create gross and vivid images of Desdemona with Cassio, which
cause Othello such torment that he has a seizure. This is shocking for the audience as we see Othello
lose both physical and mental control at the word of Iago who implies that Cassio will Lie ... with her,
on her; what you will. He uses this and makes it seem like Desdemona is sleeping with Cassio to draw
attention to Desdemona. Iago convinces Othello that he over hears Cassio and Desdemona s

Childbirth During The Nineteenth Century Essay
The idea of childbirth has been viewed in three peculiar ways: a social natural occurrence, as a
passage to an early death, and in present times a medical procedure needed when having children. In
the seventieth and eighteenth century childbirth was seen as a social celebration conducted by
midwives, while in the nineteenth century fear of death arose due to an increase of maternal mortality
rates. This time period also served as a transition time between the elimination of the midwife and the
emergence of the physician. The transition was due to attitude changes and knowledge understanding.
During the twentieth century, medical knowledge expanded and thus the idea of childbirth was
medicalized into a medical procedure needed to have healthy children. Childbirth once seen as a
natural phenomenon was now an event that needed medical attention by health facilitators at
institutions of health. The ideas around childbirth developed based on the knowledge, cultural setting,
mortality rates, and professionals available at the time. Based on these ideas it is easy to see how
social and behavioral aspects influenced childbirth throughout the seventeenth, eighteenth, ninetieth
and twentieth centuries. In addition, the communities views on childbirth were influenced by the
development of public health infrastructure, public health policy advancement and how well public
officials were able to disseminate information. In the colonial era, the majority of women spent their
lives

Essay about Analysis of quot;The Birthmark quot;
Some say that beauty is only skin deep and believe that inner beauty, is a whole lot more important.
They are a small minority. Most of us strive for perfection in appearances it may be our own personal
appearance defined by the perfect clothes and the perfect look, the perfect home we live in, or the
perfect car we absolutely must have. People today are no different today than they were in the 19th
century, and we get an in depth understanding of the obsession with being perfect in Nathaniel
Hawthorne s The Birthmark. This short story is about a devoted scientist who marries a beautiful

As he said, nature, in one shape or another, stamps ineffaceably on all her productions. Georgiana was
a pretty lady; Nature has to bear a birthmark on her face in order to keep the balance, any attempt to

changed or altered, without significant consequences.
Hawthorne s sentiments are very relevant in today s world where the obsession with perfection often
back fires with unfortunate results. To get the perfect house, the perfect car, or even the perfect look
we go to extraordinary lengths. Do we ever stop to think if it is all worth it? Just for a little while
longer, we think, and then we ll have enough money to get that nose job, or be able to pay for
liposuction, or that implant that will remove Nature s imperfection and make life perfect. Just as
Aylmer said of his wife, you came so nearly perfect from the hand of Nature that this slightest possible
defect, which we hesitate whether to term a defect or a beauty, shock me, as being visible mark of
earthly imperfection, we harp on our imperfection in the same way, blame our parents for not getting

Analysis of the Poem The Weary Blues
Poem Analysis The Weary Blues This speaker gives a detailed description of listening to a blues
musician in Harlem. This poem has a mournful tone and tempo of blues due to its diction, repetitive
lines and inclusion of blues lyrics thus, giving the reader an appreciation of the state of mind of the
blues musician in the poem. In the poem, the poet incorporates several literary devices to assist in
upholding the theme and tone of the poem. The main theme in this poem is the importance of music in
human s daily lives; music is used to guide mixed emotions, express joy and happiness, describe
personal issues or as a means to release anger and frustration. Langston in his poem gives
consideration to the elements of blues music in the entire poem. Words associated with music, melody
and tune are used to describe the night, the blues and the piano player. The sound of the music is
described as a mellow croon as the piano player sings the tune o those weary blues. The raggy tune
and melancholy tone portray music that is sad, sobering, and grim. The colloquial language used in the
poem captures the readers attention while the diction used emphasizes the musician s societal
disposition while highlighting his frustrations; Ain t got nobody but ma self. I s gwine quit my frownin

Assessing The Nutrient Advantage And The Underlying...
Assessing Economic Benefit of Various Lupin Management Methods
This study aimed to assess the nutrient advantage and the underlying economic benefit of brown
manuring vs. green manuring of three different lupin cultivars for boosting soil nitrogen reserves for
the following crop. Fertiliser input costs continue to escalate as a result of market demand and coupled
with the increasing herbicide resistant issues; producers are turning to the increasingly popular tool of
manuring crops in an attempt to manage the two different problems in today s farming systems. We
chose to assess three lupin cultivars relevant to Western Australian cropping systems; Belara (Lupinus

and the coaches poll and had beaten the Seminoles (Florida State) during the regular season. Ranking
problems like that one that happened in 2000 are why the BCS system should modify to a playoff
system. The BCS is a somewhat confusing and often controversial system (Vilona). The top twenty
five teams in Division I football battle each and every week for a better spot in the rankings. Most of
the time it comes down to the last week of season play to determine which two teams will progress
into the national championship game. The top teams should be given an opportunity to earn their way

Characterization and Symbolism in Yellow Woman Essay
Characterization and Symbolism in Yellow Woman In the short story Yellow Woman , Leslie Marmon
Silko uses characterization and symbolism to address personal and cultural identity. After reading
Yellow Woman , a sense of mystery is imposed on the reader. Much of the story centers on the identity
of the two main characters with issues of duty and desires, social obligations, and the human and
spiritual worlds. Taking place in 1970 s New Mexico, the author reveals the aesthetic beauty of a
Native American homeland and culture through detail and color. The story begins with an ambiguous
protagonist/narrator identified as Yellow Woman who is trapped between a dreamlike world and
reality. Her naivety is revealed at the start when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Silva s obscure identity is questioned by Yellow Woman throughout the story. The reader doesn t
exactly know who he really is and he gives Yellow Woman vague answers to her simple questions:
Little Yellow Woman , he said, you never give up, do you? I have told you who I am. The Navajo
people know me too (Silko 765). Silva was the one who addressed the narrator as Yellow Woman
giving her a sense of identity and confusion because of the myth she remembered her grandfather told
her. Silva could possibly be the ka tsina spirit that lives in the mountains or just a stranger she met, the
readers will never know for sure and neither will Yellow Woman. Later in the story, Silva and Yellow
Woman both take meat that Silva claimed he stole to sell to the Mexicans. Silva informs Yellow
Woman about the limitations and boundaries that are set upon the Native Americans: The Navajo
reservation begins over there . He pointed to the east. The Pueblo boundaries are over there . He
looked below us to the south, where the narrow trail seemed to come from. The Texans have their
ranches over there, starting with that valley, the Concho Valley. The Mexicans run some cattle over
there too (Silko 765).
While crossing the valley, a white rancher spots and questions them. Silva tells Yellow Woman to
leave him with the white rancher. She does so and rides away, hearing four gun shots. In

Aldol Condensation Lab

Experiment 9: Aldol Condensation
Discussion
In this experiment, an aldol condensation reaction will be performed using two different carbonyl
compounds to form a beta hydroxy carbonyl compound. Specifically, acetophenone and p
anisaldehyde will react to form trans p anisalacetonphenone. An aldol condensation reaction is an
addition reaction that consists of one of the carbonyl compounds being converted into an enol or
enolate, and attacking the second carbonyl carbon to form a C C bond. An enol is a hydrocarbon with
a double bond, with an alcohol group on one of the double bond carbons. An enolate is formed when
an enol is deprotonated, creating a structure that is stabilized by resonance of the double bond as it
interacts with the remaining oxygen.
The alpha carbon, which is the carbon adjacent to the carbonyl carbon in a carbonyl compound is ...

This introduces complications, since either compound can form enolates, or provide the electrophilic
carbon, giving a range of products. In this reaction, there are two possible enolates and two possible
carbonyl carbons, as the enolates can react with protonated versions of themselves, or the other
compound. In order to obtain the desired product, the different parts of the reaction should have been
physically separated. First, the enolate should have been produced using LDA, an extremely strong
base that shifts the reaction strongly to the product side, with a Keq of about 1019. Had a weaker base
been used, equilibrium between the enolate and the product formed by the enolate reacting with itself
would have been established with a Keq of about 10 4, which strongly favors the reactant side,
resulting in less enolate yield. After enolate was produced using LDA, the second carbonyl compound
would be added, allowing for correct product formation, as ideally only one electronegative carbon
would be present.

How Did Civilization Influence The Development Of Western...
The West is the history of what humans did that made civilization evolve into our modern era. The
West involves how social standards, morals, religions, political systems, culture, and technology
developed over time. The West is where the origins of civilization started, and what humans did
during their time period. The Western history biggest impact was by old ancient history, and how
society got here today. The greatest philosophers, traditions, different ethnicities, and religion played
an important part in the shaping of Western civilization. The origins began at the period of the
Mesopotamian era, through the times of the Hebrews, Greeks, and Romans, and how each civilization
affected today s modern world. In Mesopotamian, there were a few civilizations beginning to rise up
to become an establishment. The Sumerians invented writings around 3200 B.C. The first objects were
symbolized as images carved into soft clay tablets. By 3000 B.C, Cuneiform was the first written
language invented by the Sumerians and was written in mud tablets. Babylonians, Persians and other
civilizations used the Sumerians cuneiform script as their own way of writing. The Wheel was created
in around 3,500 BC. The original form of the wheel was a roller placed underneath something to keep
hefty objects one place to another. As time passed by, these runners and rollers evolved into the wheels
that we utilize today. A water system was also invented in Mesopotamia since there was not enough

World Social Policies
The advantages and disadvantages of resources and services within United States compared to other
govern countries and their social demands for their citizens are immeasurably different. When
comparing and analyzing how governing bodies oversees the well being of citizens within their region
of the world, it is important not to rely on their economic growth only. But, how their social policies
and guidelines address poverty, housing, health care, unemployment, and the lack of education.
Each governing body strive to improve the life expectancy of their citizens by implementing policies
that would provide access to, delivering and allocating, and refining resources within the communities
for the betterment of the people. The state welfare and public practice within a governmental and / or
political setting varies with each area of concern; mainly with the health care and inequality
(unemployment and homelessness) of citizens. This report will contrast how citizens of the United
States, Belgium, and Japan fair with their health care policy and inequality policy that are
implemented to service their perspective region.
The growing concern of health care in the United States is alarming to its citizens. Unfortunately, the
health care system does not provide an even quality of medical care for all citizens. Social Justice
indicates that the government must allocate costs and benefits to help the citizens even if it does not

Managed Care Organizations Case Study
Impact of Disease Management Programs within Managed Care Organizations As we all know
Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) have one major goal, and that is to save money. Whether it is
by reducing care, incentivizing doctor s or advertising, they are pursuing their goal. In fact, we all
know that back in the 70s the rise of healthcare cost pushed this initiative, and that although it has
been criticized over the years, it has proven to some extent that it does reduce cost, to the point that
Medicaid and Medicare have adopted their model. However, despite all the efforts, healthcare costs
continued to rise, and skepticism arose. In fact, it wasn t long until people were saying that managed
care had failed. Furthermore, a new tool was developed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, one of the biggest struggles of DM programs is that they need to ensure that their care model
fosters patient provider relationship, and they should clearly define the patient population so that
results can be replicated; therefore, avoiding healthcare disparities in the delivery of disease
management programs ( Faxon et al, 2004). More so, in an article by Faxon (2004), he states that
future challenges for DM programs revolve around reimbursement policy designs and integration of
DM in the public. I am not clear whether this has occurred in the past ten years. However, it is obvious
that disease management emerged as a potential strategy to enhance the quality of care received by
patients suffering from one or more chronic conditions, and to improve the efficiency of the delivery
of healthcare services by maintaining or improving quality while reducing costs (Faxon et al, 2004).
However, I consider that in order to make this sustainable, disease management companies should try
not to make the same marketing mistake than MCOs did. In fact I completely agree with Faxon et al
(2004) when they state that evaluations of disease management programs should not be based solely
on their ability to reduce healthcare expenditures. More so, the best way to obtain complete buy in for
this program is to focus on quality of care and patient outcomes;

Kansas Anymore Descriptive Writing
We are not in Kansas Anymore
It s not fair, I huffed, I don t want to leave! This is my home! My mother s brown eyes stared back at
me, filled with a knowledge and understanding I had yet to possess and would lack for years to come.
She left the barren living room, leaving behind a trace of the fruity perfume she always wore. It was
futile to argue; the boxes were packed and ready to be loaded onto the trucks in a few hours. Having
nowhere else to sit, I descended to the floor. The light oak wooden floorboards that used to be clothed
in rugs were now naked. In the next month, new pairs of feet would walk on these boards.
My foot started a steady tapping rhythm on the floor, and I could no longer stay seated. Time was not
my ally, and my inevitable departure was looming over me. I gathered what was left of myself up off
the floor and took one last tour of my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My grandfather taught me how to sand the walls, readying them for paint. It took hours of hard
manual labor sanding every inch of the walls before they were ready to be painted. In preparation for
the new wall color, blue tarps were scattered on the floor, ready to catch every rogue drop of paint. My
mom taught me how to hold the brush, and I could still feel her patient hands guiding my first strokes.
I snapped back into reality and opened my door. I stepped out into the narrow hallway, and I rested my
hand on the door knob. The door was almost closed when I had a sudden urge to sneak one last glance
at my room. Not being able to let go of my room, I cracked the door open again. My eyes rested on the
skeleton of the room, and I gently closed the door.
Needing to see more of the house, I started descending the curved staircase. I stopped halfway down
the staircase and savored the view. My eyes wandered around to the rooms that I would no longer use.
Rooms that were once filled with people and belongings were now piled high with

My Dream Wedding By John Shelby Spong
When I was in high school I was told that by the time I was an adult almost everyone I knew would be
divorced. Although I had a few family members who had divorced around that time I was still
incredulous. Growing up I never fantasized about my dream wedding , but I did vow that divorce
would not be an option if I ever got married. In an ironic twist of fate, I wound up getting divorced
shortly after a year of getting married. John Shelby Spong discusses the impact of a liturgical service
to mark the end of a marriage. Would it encourage people to get a divorce or rather bring closure to
both parties? After attending such a service, Spong was able to leave with many impressions as to why
a liturgical service is beneficial. First and foremost pain and death are present in divorce for both the
husband and the wife, whether acknowledged liturgically or not. (Spong, 1988, p. 192) Soon after my
divorce, I was bombarded with words of advice and platitudes. More often than not, my feelings were
invalidated because I was only married for a year , thus there was no way I could be so hurt by my
divorce. People do not seem to understand that, regardless of how long you were married, a divorce
does signify death. For whatever reason, the relationship has died and with it the hopes and dreams
you once had of a life together. That pain and heartbreak will be there no matter what. Spong writes
that it takes courage, maturity, and a willingness to endure enormous vulnerability to

The main character, Doodle was supposed to die when he was younger, but since he did not his coffin
was stored in the barn. Brother knew that Doodle s coffin was in there so he brought Doodle up to the

leave you here by yourself, I threatened, and made as if I were going down. Doodle was frightened of
being left, Don t leave me Brother, he cried and leaned toward the coffin. (Hurst 2) This quote
demonstrates how Brother showing Doodle his coffin is similar to how in the end Brother showed
Doodle potentially his death by leaving him in the storm. This also shows how Doodle is afraid to be
left behind much like in end when he yells at Brother Don t leave me, don t leave me! Just like he did
in the barn. Therefore, these two scenes symbolize each other and how both times Doodle is incapable
of helping himself and is dependent on Brother, but in both instances Brother does not care about
Doodle s needs and the fact that he

The Healing Rituals Of Navajo Tribes

The Vaccine Against Cowpox Also Gave Protection Against...
In 1796, Edward Jenner showed the world that the vaccine against cowpox also gave protection
against the smallpox disease. Ever since Jenner s discovery, the main principles of vaccines has gained
more acceptance through the years of practice. In 1816, 20 years after Edward Jenner s discovery,
Sweden would create a compulsory vaccine for smallpox, which will eradicate the disease in many
countries (Ortqvist et al). By noticing the long lasting effects of vaccinations in people, one can

bacterial infection that has become extremely rare in the United States. If one develops the infection,
he or she is still recommended to take the vaccination. The reason for it is due to the toxin made by
the disease that would affect the immune system in the long run. Hib, HPV, and pneumococcal
vaccines all help to improve the immune response better than natural infection (Holland). Certain
vaccines are highly recommended but sometimes they are not fully covered, leaving children suffering
from possible diseases that are preventable such as: smallpox, chickenpox, measles, hepatitis B, and
many more. Moreover, being covered is not the only problem. The shortage of childhood vaccines,
especially in the United States, are due to the lack of manufacturing capacity, lack of accurate data,
and lack of communication. Between December 2007 and September 2009, the United States had a
lack of Hib vaccines, leaving a high number of children at the risk of infection (Esposito et al). In

outbreak occurred due to extremely low immunization rates. Jon Cohen, a physician executive

People Who Influence Learning The Most Essay
The People in a Child s Life who Influence Learning the Most The human brain is most vulnerable to
change throughout the early years of a person s life due to its development. The people that enter a
child s life can alter their attitude and their effort later on. Most importantly, the skills that they are
taught can stick with them until the day they die. Most people in a child s life affect them in some
miniscule way and although children never realize it, some people are more crucial to their success
than others. Children engage in relationships with their parents, their peers and friends, their teachers,
and they take part in their community. Different factors within these relationships can affect how they
learn and perform as students. Students encounter many influential people through their childhood that
affect their learning abilities and characteristics, but parents are statistically proven to have the most
impact on learning by assisting their children with their schoolwork and holding them to a standard
that other people abandon. Parents Clearly, parents spend the most time around their children, which
means they can have the biggest, beneficial impact or a bad impact. Parents have the option of being
very helpful throughout their child s school years or they can neglect them and let them figure life out
on their own. Parents are the child s first teachers. Supportive parents help their children with
homework every night, putting in as much effort as possible.

  • 5. Did The Marshall Plan Help Europe Did the Marshall Plan actually want to help Europe or did they just want to stop Communism from spreading into Europe? In this essay I will be using a variety of sources to help me answer and examine The Marshall Plan, as well as my research question. To begin with, what was the Marshall Plan, in other words The European Recovery Program ? It was a planned by George Marshall, who was secretary of State at the time; his vision was to rebuild Europe after World War 2. Some might say, the real reason that the United States helped out was to stop the spreading of communism from Stalin, since Russia was along the borders of the Eastern Europe countries, and those were the countries US wanted to help. • 6. The Nature Of Technology In Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury I rate Fahrenheit 451 a one star , because I found the writer s style uninteresting. The author, Ray Bradbury, failed to pull me in, and the novel didn t open my eyes to the viewpoints portrayed in the novel. Although Fahrenheit 451 carries themes of rebirth of society, government censorship, and the nature of humanity, these themes were overwhelmed by one theme that bled into every action, dialogue piece, and narrative section: technology corrupts. This theme could have made for a wonderful book, as there are intriguing and thoughtful pieces on the nature of technology, like the TV series Black Mirror. Black Mirror offers both positives and negatives to each piece of technology it covers in each episode it poses questions like how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knowing this, many of the characters make more sense: Mildred and her friends can t even comprehend the thought of reading, and every character who does read has amazing wisdom, no matter their age. Which brings me to the second point of why I dislike the book: it preaches at every available moment. Whether it s the teenage girl giving a monologue or the scared old man, all the characters sound the same when they re preaching Bradbury s anti technology agenda. Subsequently, they don t exist as round characters, they only exist to preach Bradbury s views, which ranges from the dislikes of the arts or listening to radio through earbuds. He presumes that someone who watches TV or listens to radio cannot enjoy the world around them, however, in my view, these medias have only broadened our view of the world. Many of us will not be able to go to Africa, but through TV documentaries, we can. The jazz of New Orleans would be out of reach for most, were it not for radio and other electronic transmissions. Perhaps Bradbury might have had a real fear of the changes a world view would initiate when the book was written, but now it carries the gravitas of someone wearing a tin foil hat. I couldn t enjoy the book because I found the characters flat and uninteresting. Many of them have no character development except for Montag, but his development doesn t come from a great self ... Thesis The initial Spanish settlers were both successful and not successful as well in achieving their American Dream in due to the fact that they had the missions and their control over California as well as lost all of their hold on California and the missions because of the Mexicans that rebelled against the Spanish Crown.12 Origins The Spanish were a group of people from the great country of Spain in Europe. The rulers at the time, Ferdinand the Second of Aragon and Isabella of Castille was able to finance one man. The man was the legendary explorer of the seas, Christopher Columbus.3 He was the one who started the Spanish interest of the Americas. He showed the Crown what the Americas have. Christopher Columbus was the one to land in the Americas first for the Spanish Empire, but not the first Spaniard to land and set up Spain s grip on the Northern Americas, especially in California. That belonged to Hernan Cortés. Cortés s voyage was first funded by a third party, Diego Velázquez. The voyage before the its original sail out date was canceled by Diego Velázquez and Cortés s voyage was lost. Cortés got word of this and sailed out the night before the original sail date before anything could happen to it and him in 1519.45 He wanted his chance to explore the world and to look for the legendary Strait of Anián. The Strait of Anián was this pathway from the Americas to the Far East in Asia that no explorer has found.6 Cortés landed in the middle of the Americas and found out about the Aztec Empire that was ruled by Montezuma after he set up a fishing village called Pontonchan. Cortés first went to Tenochitlán, the City of Dreams , and was shocked to see the advancement that the Aztecs had.78 He also found out about what the Aztecs do in their free time. The Aztecs were violent to their neighbors, they were cannibals, and the Aztecs performed human sacrifices.9 This was a good motive for Cortés to conquer the Aztec empire. Cortés wanted to push more North as well, but could not get far. Cortés got up to Baja California in the 1530 s. Another explorer, after Cortés, went to push into Alta California. • 10. Why Is China Weak Or Strong Are Women in China Weak or Strong? For years, it has been debated on whether or not women in China were weak or strong. In China, women were regarded as the lesser gender. Yet, does that necessarily mean that women in China are weak? There are facts supporting both opinions, but I believe there are more signs pointing towards how resilient and strong women actually are. Women in China were exceptionally strong despite being persecuted for their gender; Although these women were required by tradition to serve their husbands or bind their feet, they still lived and conquered on. The three main points I believe that show how strong women from China are is that women are respected, even though their gender is, lesser, women still live their life ... This quote serves to remind that Fu Hao received not only the same treatment as men in China, but also was buried the same way that pharaohs in Egypt were buried. It also speaks wonders to the fact that if her husband did not respect her, she would not be. An additional quote that speaks volumes about this particular issue is, as mothers and mother in laws, a good deal of honor . Something that men need/needed to keep in mind about women was that without a woman, they would not be alive. No matter what society, place, or time period that someone was or is living in, women do have motherhood working in their advantage, and motherhood is not something that will or ever can be taken away from women. The third and last quote is, if a man died and his sons were not yet old enough to be the head of the family, the women would fill the place till the sons were old enough ; This quote was chosen because I feel as though if women were through not respected, then there would have been a different way or some other person to lead . They work to intensify electrical signals that are passed to neurons (nerve cells). The brain holds the role of coordinating and processing complex information, and how the brain deals with this job depends on the delicate balance of several different chemicals. Neurotransmitters allow nerve cells to communicate messages by secreting these chemicals and sending impulses across a synapse (the junction point between two neurons). • 13. Childbirth During The Nineteenth Century Essay The idea of childbirth has been viewed in three peculiar ways: a social natural occurrence, as a passage to an early death, and in present times a medical procedure needed when having children. In the seventieth and eighteenth century childbirth was seen as a social celebration conducted by midwives, while in the nineteenth century fear of death arose due to an increase of maternal mortality rates. This time period also served as a transition time between the elimination of the midwife and the emergence of the physician. The transition was due to attitude changes and knowledge understanding. During the twentieth century, medical knowledge expanded and thus the idea of childbirth was medicalized into a medical procedure needed to have healthy children. Childbirth once seen as a natural phenomenon was now an event that needed medical attention by health facilitators at institutions of health. The ideas around childbirth developed based on the knowledge, cultural setting, mortality rates, and professionals available at the time. Based on these ideas it is easy to see how social and behavioral aspects influenced childbirth throughout the seventeenth, eighteenth, ninetieth and twentieth centuries. In addition, the communities views on childbirth were influenced by the development of public health infrastructure, public health policy advancement and how well public officials were able to disseminate information. The BCS does a great job of utilizing all the statistics and polls to establish the top twenty five teams in the nation. On the other hand the top two teams are the ones who attend the national championship and that is where the BCS system is unfair. For Example, Alex Giles wrote in his Article The Proposed Marriage of the BCS and a Playoff Format , In 2000, the BCS ranked Oklahoma Jerzy 6 #1 and Florida State #2 at seasons end, despite the fact that Miami was ranked #2 in the both the AP and the coaches poll and had beaten the Seminoles (Florida State) during the regular season. Characterization and Symbolism in Yellow Woman Essay Characterization and Symbolism in Yellow Woman In the short story Yellow Woman , Leslie Marmon Silko uses characterization and symbolism to address personal and cultural identity. After reading Yellow Woman , a sense of mystery is imposed on the reader. Much of the story centers on the identity of the two main characters with issues of duty and desires, social obligations, and the human and spiritual worlds. Taking place in 1970 s New Mexico, the author reveals the aesthetic beauty of a Native American homeland and culture through detail and color. The story begins with an ambiguous protagonist/narrator identified as Yellow Woman who is trapped between a dreamlike world and reality. Her naivety is revealed at the start when ... The Navajo people know me too (Silko 765). Silva was the one who addressed the narrator as Yellow Woman giving her a sense of identity and confusion because of the myth she remembered her grandfather told her. Silva could possibly be the ka tsina spirit that lives in the mountains or just a stranger she met, the readers will never know for sure and neither will Yellow Woman. Later in the story, Silva and Yellow Woman both take meat that Silva claimed he stole to sell to the Mexicans. Silva informs Yellow Woman about the limitations and boundaries that are set upon the Native Americans: The Navajo reservation begins over there . He pointed to the east. The Pueblo boundaries are over there . He looked below us to the south, where the narrow trail seemed to come from. The Texans have their ranches over there, starting with that valley, the Concho Valley. The Mexicans run some cattle over there too (Silko 765). While crossing the valley, a white rancher spots and questions them. Silva tells Yellow Woman to leave him with the white rancher. She does so and rides away, hearing four gun shots. In ... Aldol Condensation Lab Ishaan Sangwan Experiment 9: Aldol Condensation Discussion In this experiment, an aldol condensation reaction will be performed using two different carbonyl compounds to form a beta hydroxy carbonyl compound. Specifically, acetophenone and p anisaldehyde will react to form trans p anisalacetonphenone. An aldol condensation reaction is an addition reaction that consists of one of the carbonyl compounds being converted into an enol or enolate, and attacking the second carbonyl carbon to form a C C bond. An enol is a hydrocarbon with a double bond, with an alcohol group on one of the double bond carbons. An enolate is formed when an enol is deprotonated, creating a structure that is stabilized by resonance of the double bond as it interacts with the remaining oxygen. The alpha carbon, which is the carbon adjacent to the carbonyl carbon in a carbonyl compound is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This introduces complications, since either compound can form enolates, or provide the electrophilic carbon, giving a range of products. In this reaction, there are two possible enolates and two possible carbonyl carbons, as the enolates can react with protonated versions of themselves, or the other compound. In order to obtain the desired product, the different parts of the reaction should have been physically separated. First, the enolate should have been produced using LDA, an extremely strong base that shifts the reaction strongly to the product side, with a Keq of about 1019. Had a weaker base been used, equilibrium between the enolate and the product formed by the enolate reacting with itself would have been established with a Keq of about 10 4, which strongly favors the reactant side, resulting in less enolate yield. After enolate was produced using LDA, the second carbonyl compound would be added, allowing for correct product formation, as ideally only one electronegative carbon would be present. ... More so, in an article by Faxon (2004), he states that future challenges for DM programs revolve around reimbursement policy designs and integration of DM in the public. I am not clear whether this has occurred in the past ten years. However, it is obvious that disease management emerged as a potential strategy to enhance the quality of care received by patients suffering from one or more chronic conditions, and to improve the efficiency of the delivery of healthcare services by maintaining or improving quality while reducing costs (Faxon et al, 2004). However, I consider that in order to make this sustainable, disease management companies should try not to make the same marketing mistake than MCOs did. In fact I completely agree with Faxon et al (2004) when they state that evaluations of disease management programs should not be based solely on their ability to reduce healthcare expenditures. • 29. My Dream Wedding By John Shelby Spong When I was in high school I was told that by the time I was an adult almost everyone I knew would be divorced. Although I had a few family members who had divorced around that time I was still incredulous. Growing up I never fantasized about my dream wedding , but I did vow that divorce would not be an option if I ever got married. In an ironic twist of fate, I wound up getting divorced shortly after a year of getting married. John Shelby Spong discusses the impact of a liturgical service to mark the end of a marriage. Would it encourage people to get a divorce or rather bring closure to both parties? After attending such a service, Spong was able to leave with many impressions as to why a liturgical service is beneficial. First and foremost pain and death are present in divorce for both the husband and the wife, whether acknowledged liturgically or not. (Spong, 1988, p. 192) Soon after my divorce, I was bombarded with words of advice and platitudes. More often than not, my feelings were invalidated because I was only married for a year , thus there was no way I could be so hurt by my divorce. People do not seem to understand that, regardless of how long you were married, a divorce does signify death. For whatever reason, the relationship has died and with it the hopes and dreams you once had of a life together. That pain and heartbreak will be there no matter what. Most people in a child s life affect them in some miniscule way and although children never realize it, some people are more crucial to their success than others. Children engage in relationships with their parents, their peers and friends, their teachers, and they take part in their community.
