William Shakespeare s The Duke
The Duke is the pivotal character of the play but neither his character nor his action is clears enough.
After his departure and delegation of his power the play really begins and the readers are kept waiting
for the solution of the problem in the city of Vienna. The Duke who is called a scholar a statesman and
a soldier ( Shakespeare, Measure for Measure Act III, sc ii line 126) and yet has ever loved life
removed ( Shakespeare, Measure for Measure Act I, sc iii line 9) and contented especially to know
himself ( Shakespeare, Measure for Measure Act III, sc ii line 199 200) can not overcome by argument
why he delegated authority and yet wanted to watch the trusted man, Angelo. On the part of Angelo ,
authority was drive upon him. Angelo himself says: Let there be some more test made of my metal (
Shakespeare, Measure for Measure Act I, sc i line 49) In the play, the duke and Angelo show different
attitude towards their ruling and applying law. The Duke being an authoritative figure and holder of
kingship neglects to apply the law for many years in the city where vices are grown in its fullest form
again he fears to re apply the law. Because he is concerned about his image before the citizen of
Vienna as he speaks I love the people,/But do not like to stage me to their eyes ( Shakespeare,
Measure for Measure Act I, sc i line 67 68). On the other hand, Angelo is considered a strict person
that knows much about the city laws. When he is appointed in

Question 1
(Group Question) I. It is very evident that one of the main responsibilities that the Hershey Trust
Board views their responsibility to be is to the Milton Hershey School. In 1918, Milton Hershey
endowed the trust board. The objective of this endowment was to have full support for the Milton
Hershey School. Further in March 2002, the Trust Board decided to make a decision that was more in
the schools favor, which was making sure that its holdings were less concentrated in Hershey stock.

Such company investments ought to end up increasing stock prices.
To make a fair evaluation of HFC and the other bidding companies we would compare the companies
WACC and the required rate of return which in this case we would use the Ke (CAPM), where the
Hershey s WACC is less than the CAPM (which is used to estimate the required rate of return which is
suitable for an asset). Taking the companies rates of return and the percentage for the wacc, for each
invested dollar that the Hershey, Wrigley, Nestle and Cadbury Schweppes, 0.0041cents, 0cents,
0.0099cents and 0.0088cents respectively are values the companies managed to gain. Hence, Hershey
was fairly valued by the stock market because for every dollar it was investing out of the bidding
companies it was the one who was gaining less (this is not taking into consideration Wrigley because
it is a company which only concentrates on chewing gums so it will not be fair to compare it with the
other three companies.
Also, to support the point that the stock market did a fair valuation of Hershey, the market value of
equity for Hershey was low even though it had the highest price per share out of the other three
companies. It is the shares outstanding which were low that made Hershey incur a low amount of
equity.

Csr And Its Usefulness For Modern Business
Many social scientists and economists like Friedman (1917 NYT article); Visser (2010) and Karnani
(2011) have been looking at the arguments for and against Corporate Social Responsibility . There are
many different definitions of CSR but the idea behind it is that businesses contribute to the well being
of society, as well as sustainable development by delivering environmental, economic and social
benefits to society, not just economic benefits to the shareholders. Most writers have made slightly
different cases against CSR and its usefulness for modern business and society. One can see, even by
looking at relevant case studies, that there are certainly a large amount of flaws involved in the
concept of CRS and DWBD (Doing well by doing good), which I shall point out over the rest of this
coursework. I shall also consider the positive aspects of CSR, I will explore the critical writings off
Karnani, who claimed that in each case CSR is either irrelevant or ineffective, and compare those to
other notable criticisms such as Reich and Visser who all analyse various faults with the concept of
CSR. A problem that I came across early in my research and reading was that motives for businesses
to engage in CSR are very often not pure. Many businesses use CSR in order to claim their social
licence to operate. As the CSR activity often makes them seem legitimate and responsible, it gives
managers an opportunity to hide and disguise the activities of the corporation. This is the

Minority Rights And Minority Rights
In much of the political science and law literatures, the term `minority rights is used to refer to legal
provisions that have two key features: first, they are intended to recognize or accommodate the
distinctive needs of non dominant ethnic or racial groups; and second, they do so by adopting minority
specific measures, above and beyond the non discriminatory enforcement of universal individual
rights that apply regardless of group membership. In this respect, minority rights are often
distinguished from anti discrimination policies, as two distinct (but complementary) tools for
protecting minorities from injustice at the hands of dominant groups. Ensuring that members of
minorities have equal access as individual citizens to the ballot box is an anti discrimination measure;
ensuring that a certain number of parliamentary seats are reserved for members of minorities, or
establishing self governing institutions within a minority s homeland, are minority rights measures.
Similarly, the right to speak or publish freely in a minority language is entailed by the basic individual
right of freedom of speech to forbid speech in a minority language would constitute discrimination in
the exercise of that right but to insist that the state provide road signs, public education or tax forms in
a minority s language is a minority right. Minority rights, in short, involve positive group specific
measures, not just the non discriminatory enforcement of universal individual rights.

TDN 2002 RESEARCH ESSAY
Critically compare and contrast two to three examples of design or advertising using the apparatuses
of semiotic analysis.

Semiotic is a linguistic, it is a sign that can be applied to everything, which signs are the interpretation
of the proper social situation and general human beings. As Berger mentioned in his article, Saussure
suggested, semiotic can be interpreted as signifier and signified, signifier is the objet itself and
signified is the concept, which codes is to help audience to understand. (Berger, 1994) Signs in
everyday life is a communication, it is to tell a truth or a lie, in the 21st century design, the developed

For designers, study of signs is very important, Bauhaus and Ulm both believed that understand
semiotics is the basic step before making a design, (Berger, 1994) (Markgraf, 2012) advertisements
ask audiences to understand the message but for design, is opposite, designer has to understand what
costumers need and also, what message they want to added in.
In the advertisements, Aynsley has mentioned that it turns costumers to consumers, the magic
language used in the advertisement which is the signifier that hided under the signified has create a
utopia for people, the code used in advertisement is always forcing costumers to buy under
commercial purpose and the message used in it is always considering to be understand by a wide
range of people instead of create a sign for certain cultural contents. (Aynsley, 1987)

Authentic Food In The United States
Not Authentic at All People in the United States of America have different taste in food. Americans
are used to a different way of preparing, flavoring, dressing and accepting any ethnic food. For
example, in order to accept any ethnic food, it should be modified and has an American touching and
editing . Exactly in the same way how Middle Eastern food is being treated here in the United States.
In the Middle East there is nothing called fast food, so fast food is not considered as a part of any
Arabic culture. Therefore, Middle Eastern food takes a lot of time to be cooked and served. However,
in the United States Middle Eastern food is being treated as a fast food, which make it not authentic at

If one thing is missing the whole value of the food is missed. One of the great ideas that most of the
Japanese and Chinese cuisines (East Asian cuisines) in general, begin to establish in their restaurants
is the easy chop sticks , which using their native chop sticks in an easy way and it is made especially
for those who do not know how to use the regular chop sticks. This kind of modification is acceptable,
because it combines a mix between keeping the authenticity of and adapting the consumers. It gives us
the taste and the atmosphere of the food culture and at the same we are enjoying the food with no
problems of using those chop sticks. McDonalds restaurants are the best example of that, they keep
the American way no matter where they have branches at. McDonalds in the Middle East, India, and
China and all over the world they strictly sell sandwiches, fries and burgers. We will not hear or find
that one McDonalds restaurant in the Arabian Gulf Region have a Big Mac over rice , even though
that literally anything over rice would be awesome for Arabian Gulf people. However, it would seem
weird to them, because as all of them grow up and knowing that McDonalds is an American

Pros And Cons Of Divorce Reform
In the first part of this essay, we will examine if the current law on divorce should be reformed to
allow people to break up without having to blame each other and without a two year wait. We will
discuss the current law and assess the advantages and possible disadvantages as to whether the law on
divorce should be reformed. Marriage or civil partnerships between two people creates a legal status
which legally enforceable rights begin. If a couple wanted to terminate this legal status, they would
need a divorce or dissolution (Probert, 2015). The basis on which a divorce can be accepted has
progressively relaxed over the years, subsequent to this, the number of divorces has risen (Probert,

Overcoming Obstacles In High School Life
Throughout the last four years I have been prepared for the rest of my life. High school itself has been
pretty easy but, when you add life to the mix the struggle begins. The last four years I have faced
many obstacles, including fighting body issues, supporting my family, and facing life on my own.
Within the classroom, I have been prepared to face the outside world by my teachers and the courses
they have taught me. The most detrimental part of my getting through high school was my sports
teams, coaching, and NHS. If it wasn t for being apart of something I would have never found an
escape from the stress I was enduring.
Once I found the power of the tennis racquet and the force of the water, my life changed. My home
life wasn t the best, I was the mom, maid, and bill payer. I didn t get to act like a kid, I didn t get to
take a break. Growing up with no rules may seem fun but I can say from experience it s a nightmare.
At home, I was always on my toes. In the walls of the school I could always feel safe. I not only came
to school everyday, but came early to do homework during breakfast, had practice every day, got
initiated in the NHS, and coached the jr. high swim team. I managed to do this 5 day out of the week
to keep busy. Then when I eventually was old enough, I held a job, I would take the bus back and
forth, day or night. I had many reasons to get a job, but the one that made it all worth it was not being

Analysis Of William Blake s Frankenstein Essay
Sadaf Tabibzadeh English 6 Professor Dossett 10.02.2015 Contraries in Frankenstein Most people
would think that contraries only exist to dominate each other, making the other side appear less
significant. However, the opposite of this is true. The beauty of a rose stands out more because of the
thorns that it contains. Without the thorns, it would just be an average flower. A day wouldn t be as
bright if it wasn t compared to the darkness of night. And joy wouldn t be so joyful, if it wasn t for
pain (50 cent). Contrasts highlight movements in an element, by pointing out the differences that are
shown by the opposite side. They in fact, bring out the good and bad features in anything. William
Blake is known for his famous quote, Without contraries there is no progression. He continues to show
contraries in many of his works, including Marriage of Heaven and Hell , and his poem written in
1794, The Sick Rose, Blake introduces the idea of contraries that are layered in the simplicity of these
lines. At first, to the reader, it may only seem that he is writing about a simple dying rose, however
there is more to it. He is also mentioning how this is benefiting the worm that decides to reside in it.
The best interpretation that comes to mind, is the loss of virginity. The rose symbolizes a virgin, pure
and untampered (a vagina). The invisible worm symbolizes the possibility of penetration (penis). This
can be a feminist take on the idea of beauty and destruction.

A Despicable Tale Of Trickery
I don t see any morally acceptable behaviors in any tricksters in the stories. The hare refused to chip in
so they all can provide source of water and not only stole some water but polluted the well that no one
was able to drink from it. He deserve to be punished but not to that extreme. I don t blame them for
beating him up that bad because at that point, they are all trying to survive. The ant s burden story is
another despicable tale of trickery. He murdered a dwarf, tried to trick his son to claim the murder and
passed on his punishment to other by means of trickery. He was punished for his offense but somehow
found a way to escape from the punishment. Why they name the stories for Anansi is another tale of

The Washington Post By Alfonzo Porter
Technology has the power to change and alter the way we live our lives in many ways that most of us
do not even realize it. As the years go by, modern technology has created countless opportunities with
endless resources. These resources can be accessed by billions of people worldwide. However, some
may wonder what changes technology has made, and have these changes improved or damaged our
lives? Many authors and publishers have pondered this and publicly expressed their own perspectives
over the issue of modern technology. Alfonzo Porter, a publisher for The Washington Post, is a strong
believer that technology has caused massive problems when it comes to educating students. The
publisher mentions that student are losing interest in school and becoming more distracted with their
cellular devices. In the newspaper, Porter writes, 76 percent of teachers believed students are being
conditioned by the internet to find quick answers, leading to a loss of concentration. Alfonzo Porter
believes that students are not taking advantage of technology, instead, they are manipulating it. In
today s modern society, there is a higher percentage of students using their cellphones to find answers,
compared to students that are properly reading a book to find solutions to their problems. This issue is
leading students becoming less interested in expanding their knowledge.
Another publisher, named Frederic G. Reamer, is a supporter of the negative effects technology have

Universal Theory And Cultural Care Diversity By Madeleine...
A new graduate registered nurse was recently hired as an emergency room nurse on a level 1 trauma
hospital center. Although the clinical experience as a nursing student gave her basic knowledge and
understanding about the importance of the nursing profession in a health care setting, the fast paced
environment required her to have more application of her cultural awareness. In her current practice,
she worked with Patient Z, a 33 year old male who is an immigrant from Southeast Asia, who needed
a transfusion of packed red blood cells (PRBC) for his preexisting anemia. The patient avoided eye
contact all throughout the assessment and denied any pain or discomfort. The patient eventually
denied the treatment due to his religion and beliefs. He later disclosed that he is a practicing Jehovah s
Witness. The nurse respected the client s decision of the patient to decline the treatment and collected
all of the information she could find about the patient s culture as a Southeast Asian and a Jehovah s
Witness. While doing so, she coordinated with the physician in taking another treatment course for
this patient. The patient agreed to receive Erythropoietin treatment as a substitute for the initial care
plan and was carefully monitored which resulted to favorable outcome validated by the patient s lab
works. Universality Theory and Cultural Care Diversity by Madeleine Leininger is a theory built on

Small Urban Areas Of Comparative Advantage
Small urban areas can do a number of things to increase and diversify export efforts. Increasing the
exports will enhance the ability of the small urban area to pay for its imports. First the small urban
areas should look at other opportunities so they can mitigate the export dependency they have on
target areas such as large urban areas that have economies of scale. They could target investment and
industrial policy to develop potential new areas of comparative advantage. Thing such as technology,
infrastructure development, entrepreneurship, institutional and regulator efforts, and communication
all are essential components in looking for new areas of comparative advantage. In addition, things
like investment in human capital development, and integration into the global market, which provide
more profitable value chains, should also be a focus to address this type of issue as well 1. As income
levels change from area to area or through time, there is also a systematic change that takes place. This
change takes place in the importance of higher and lower order centers. At higher income levels, more
shopping and specialty goods are demanded, and people are willing to travel farther to obtain the
goods they desire. Income, scale, and accessibility changes are all responsible for the progressive
centralization of functions in the higher level centers in the United States and the progressive decline
of the smaller cities. In conclusion when people have more

Drone Technology And The Issue
Several important ethical and moral concerns have come to the surface regarding drone technology
and the issue is currently investigated and even debated in Congress. Until recently, when we hear the
word drone, most of us automatically add the word attack on the end or think of something negative.
That s because mostly, drones are frequently used for surveillance, intelligence and, ultimately,
offensive operations. Drones also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles , or UAV s are mostly used in
situations where manned flight is too difficult or dangerous, making them ideal for warfare.
Increasingly, the United States has come to rely on the use of drones to counter the terrorist threats.
Drones have arguably produced significant success in dealing with terrorists while limiting civilian
casualties and protecting U.S. soldiers, but it has raised some serious ethical concerns. Drones are now
going beyond conflict zones to the point that they will be landing on your doorstep in a few years
time. Drones are also used extensively in scientific researches, for species surveys, terrain mapping,
border patrolling, geophysics surveys and many more other applications that yet to develop. Drones
increasing use in warfare and other areas raising alarming questions of drone s ethical moral
implications and it s environmental effects. And before it s too late, human kind should address those
questions and concerns to avoid any confusion of the future use of drones. Talking about

categorized as an oligopoly. In this particular structured market, outside organizations have the
capability of entering the automobile industry, but in some cases there can be barriers of entry and
exit. According to Colander, D. (2010) Implicit collusion among U.S. automobile firms led to foreign
firms entry into the U.S. automobile market. Basically, a collective decision is made to reduce or
increase pricing in the industry without companies specifically meeting to do so. In the global market,
the automobile industry is competitive and creates opportunities to increase production along with
establishing operations in other countries throughout the world. The ability to sustain a level of profits
will be a challenge. With fluctuating market pricing, market share of the automobile industry can be
increased or reduced. In some cases, making a significant price reduction can eliminate a competitor
from the industry, which can result in long term profits. Merger Activity The automobile industry has

This paper about Emancipation is no Proclamation. Do you agree with children being able to get
emancipated? Some agree with this action. Others, however, do not. We should be able to. Children
that want to get emancipated have their reasons for wanting to do so. Such as, they could ve been
involved in abusive actions at their house, some might want to get married young, or maybe they are
not getting supported by their loved ones or just not getting cared for at all. You never know some
people go through when they go home. Abusive situations happen all the time. These actions could

You want what is best for your child, correct? Well, I hope you agreed. So, you push them to strive for
their freams, not push them to strive for them to get emancipated. Children may feel as if they do not
belong somewhere which leads them to wanting to get emancipated./Most people would also disagree
with this as well because, after all a judge did state that your parents are not qualified to help you
financially according to the website (http://hotair.com). Although, this is still your child, could you
just help them out? Does not have to be major. Help them out the absolute best that you are able to,
instead of them wanting to be emancipated because, they will just be on their own anyways. In
conclusion, you should always want to be there for your child, love them, and care for them. Not
abuse them (physically or emotionally), just try to support their decisions no matter what they are, and
try to always be there to try and help them. Children should be able to get emancipated if they assume

Pathos, Pros, And Cons And Uses Of The Hyundai Commercials
One product most people use in their everyday lives are vehicles. I have chosen two commercials, one
advertising the Honda Ridgeline and the other marketing the Hyundai Elantra. In the Honda
commercial, a farmer tends to his sheep, that start singing as soon as the farmer drives away. The
Hyundai commercial is very comical, showing a town where everyone is Ryan Reynolds to catch your
attention. These commercials use pathos, ethos, and logos to sell their product. Advertisements use
many forms of persuasion to get people to buy their product. One of these is pathos, which appeals to
the emotions of the audience and evokes their feelings. In the Honda commercial, one can see sheep in
the pasture singing to Somebody to Love after the farmer drives off in his new Honda Ridgeline. This
is very humorous, considering sheep do not speak, let alone belt out notes from Queen. Not only are
there singing sheep, but there is a talking dog towards the end of the commercial which tells those
who are watching about the Honda Ridgeline ( Honda Ridgeline Super Bowl Commercial internet).
This is similar to the Hyundai commercial, which is also very amusing. The audience can see two
women driving through a neighborhood, where every person is Ryan Reynolds. This shows pathos,
because it appeals to the viewers emotions by laughing at the comical commercial ( Ryanville

Murder and a Meal Lab Report
The purpose of this lab was to test different substances using various procedures to see what
biomolecules were present and ultimately find out what restaurant Anna Lyza had eaten at before she
died. For the first control test, we used vegetable oil to test for lipids. So, if the solution does not
contain lipids, it does not become translucent when placed onto a paper bag square and held up to a
light. So, it is a negative result. However, in the presence of lipids, the solution will become
translucent when placed onto a paper bag square and held up to a light. Therefore in this case, the
result is positive. On the other hand, we used albumin egg to test for proteins in another control test. If
the solution does not contain proteins, it will not experience any color change and so it is a negative
result. When there are proteins existing in the solution, it will turn bluish/purplish and for this reason it
is a positive result. Furthermore in the third control test, we used dextrose to test for simple
carbohydrates such as glucose. If the solution does not contain simple carbohydrates, it will not
undergo any color change and will remain a blue color. So, it is a negative result in this circumstance.
If there are simple carbohydrates present in the solution, the solution will turn reddish and so the result
is positive. For the last control test, we used starch solution to test

Being A Child Of The 90 s Full House Essay
Being a child of the 90 s, Full House was a very popular show for my generation. Least to say when I
saw a spin off, Fuller House was being released this past year to Netflix I was extremely excited.
Coincidently, the spin off released during the time of this course. Believe it or not, I immediately
referenced parenting styles to the episode where DJ Tanner punishes her son a little differently than
Kimmy Gibler punishes her daughter, although the committed the same crime. I am hoping to dissect
this exact scene, and discuss DJ parenting style towards her son. I find the parenting styles really
interesting, specifically the four we discussed in module four and I really want to focus on that here.
Earlier in the course, we discussed Darling four parenting styles and for some reason, these really
stuck with me. The parenting style theory reflects four different types of parents. Indulgent parents
tend to more responsive than they are demanding (Darling) I like to think of indulgent parents as what
todays generation thinks of as cool parents . They tend to be more lenient and let the child do as they
please because they want to avoid confrontation. Darling also discusses Authoritarian and
Authoritative parents which are slightly different. Authoritarian style parents, are a little over barring.
To me, I would consider this style to be a bulldozer parent. Authoritarian style parents are very
demanding and very directive. They expect the child to do what they re told,

Street Level Bureaucrats Essay
Introduction
Articles 15, 40, and 54 from the classic literature gives us an overview of how the US public
administration is established. Public administration as we know it involves organizations to make
every effort to be a good corporate citizen of the community. Organizations must conduct their
business to be in a fair, ethical and professional manner with customers, governments, suppliers,
community neighborhoods, and the general public.
Article 15: Government is Different
In the United States, the government is a system where it takes into account of all the needs and
actions of citizens. There are many positions in the public service which some might be interested in
working for the government while others have little interest in working for the government or might
not be qualified for it. Those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Street level bureaucrats has some sort of degree of discretion and interact with the public because they
work in a public sector environment. These public service workers impact citizen s lives because they
are responsible for maneuvering most of the activities of public agencies, from determining program
eligibility to dividing benefits and managing the service citizens acquired. Since citizens expect the
government to provide them with security and public safety, the scope of responsibility of public
workers have increased and this creates conflict over the scope and substance of public services. Since
street level bureaucrats decisions and actions symbolize the policies of the public agencies they work
for, they will encounter some sort of confrontation with citizens. For example, clients of street level
bureaucrats might be frustrated that they cannot receive services with a specific public agency or view
certain agencies as an injustice placed that does not care about its people. The role of a street level
bureaucrats can be challenging because they are operators of social

Importance of National Income
A variety of measures of national income and output are used in economics to estimate total economic
activity in a country or region, including gross domestic product (GDP), gross national product
(GNP), net national income (NNI), and adjusted national income (NNI* adjusted for natural resource
depletion). All are specially concerned with counting the total amount of goods and services produced
within some boundary . The boundary is usually defined by geography or citizenship, and may also
restrict the goods and services that are counted. For instance, some measures count only goods and
services that are exchanged for money, excluding bartered goods, while other measures may attempt
to include bartered goods by imputing monetary values to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the complication of the multiple stages in the production of a good or service, only the
final value of a good or service is included in the total output. This avoids an issue often called double
counting , wherein the total value of a good is included several times in national output, by counting it
repeatedly in several stages of production. In the example of meat production, the value of the good
from the farm may be $10, then $30 from the butchers, and then $60 from the supermarket. The value
that should be included in final national output should be $60, not the sum of all those numbers, $90.
The values added at each stage of production over the previous stage are respectively $10, $20, and
$30. Their sum gives an alternative way of calculating the value of final output.
Formulae:
GDP(gross domestic product) at market price = value of output in an economy in the particular year
intermediate consumption
NNP at factor cost = GDP at market price depreciation + NFIA (net factor income from abroad) net
indirect taxes[3]
[edit]The income approach
The income approach equates the total output of a nation to the total factor income received by
residents or citizens of the nation. The main types of factor income are:
Employee compensation (cost of fringe benefits, including unemployment, health, and retirement
benefits);
Interest received net of interest paid;
Rental income (mainly for the use of real estate) net of

Of Means And Ends Saul Alinsky Summary
I was particularly struck by Saul Alinsky when he discoursed about people who demand for change
but do nothing about it. Alinsky had a particular contention on the issue of means and ends, or in the
terminology of informal education, on process and product. He was certainly aggravated by people
who would not take action to uphold their principles. I would like to quote from chapter Of Means and
Ends in Rules for Radicals, He who sacrifices the mass good for his personal conscience has a
peculiar conception of personal salvation ; he doesn t care enough for people to be corrupted for them
. This made me question my own values and principles, and encouraged me to not only demand for
change, but to establish concrete actions. The radical reasons that were employed by Alinsky in said
chapter were the ones that captured me most. Ethical and philosophical discourses about what is right
or wrong often leave open ended questions in my mind. To say that something is right or wrong, one
may follow some code of ethics, (e.g. law of God, etc.). One argument might seem ethical for
someone, but it is unethical for another one. Meanwhile, I agree with what Alinsky ... Show more

This contention of Ainsky contradicts that of Freire, I think. They view things differently. As for me, I
do not completely agree with Alinsky s contentions on ends and means because I find it rather
opposite to my own personal values. Alinsky seems to evaluate actions merely by their ends, and is so
assured of the morality of those ends that he is willing and ready to rationalize almost any means. This
contention of him is somehow troubling because I think that certain means are never justified, no
matter what their ends are. For example, the murder of an innocent person could never be justified
even if it is for the welfare of someone else s

When a multinational company has difficulty raising equity capital, due to the lack of adequate private
risk capital in a foreign country, the company may explore the possibility of selling partial ownership
to the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The IFC is a subsidiary of the World Bank that also
provides debt capital and equity capital to qualified companies (Basic facts about IFC, 2005, p1).
These alternative sources of financing may significantly differ with respect to cost, terms, and
conditions. Therefore, management must carefully locate and use the proper means to finance
international business operations.
Due to the fact that more firms are becoming multinational, it is expected that the GFS will gain
importance over the next decade. Expanding operations to foreign countries has become the goal for
many U.S. companies. In addition, the above mentioned financial institutions will play a big role in
the decision making if operations can expand abroad or not. Considering that the services the GFS
provides encompass a wide array of services, it is likely that the magnitude of this industry will
increase proportionately with the speed of globalization. Globalization will be the driving force for the
GFS. As our world becomes more interrelated, global financial institutions will become helping guides
to companies who want to become multinational.
The fast paced development and the implications of globalization are

Being A Mental State Of Awareness
Conscious is thought to be a mental state in which we are able to process information and act on it.
However this term is used to describe a state of awareness while awake whereas there seems to be
varying levels of consciousness that describe most mental states. If information can be perceived
(knowing or unknowingly) then it is likely that you are conscious, e.g. even when in light sleep we can
dream and may even wake up on hearing a loud noise, therefore the brain still processes information,
however in deep sleep this is not the case. When looking at consciousness, there is what Levine
described as the explanatory gap (Levine, 1983). This states that in the present moment we are not
able to provide an explanation for the phenomena that is consciousness however as time goes on and
our knowledge of neuroscience increases this gap will close gradually until it is non existent (Block
Young, 1996). However despite this statement being made by Levine around 30 years ago, the
explanatory gap still remains although it is clearly beginning to close, we still have some way to go
before we can begin to understand what consciousness is. Consciousness is inherently a subjective
matter as there are many different meanings for the word which are seemingly thrown around without
much thought, there is no way to prove that one normal experience of consciousness is the same as
another (qualia) and we are unable to scientifically explain conscious experiences. Therefore before
we can

Abuse Of Power In Game Of Thrones
This episode did not disappoint sleazy scheming, sibling in fighting, death by burning, and the ever

society is amazing, but these fine folks are sticking with the classics in this season s opener: misuse of
position and Crown resources.
Cersei gets her abuse on early. Like way early, as in 20 years ago early. GoT gets its first flashback

Dog Park Analysis
I diasgree with the first passage because off leash dogs could possibly attack other dogs or people. I
also disagree because if the dog park was built in a residential area it would make living in that area
unpleasent. Finally i disagree because building a dog park in an area where it is not needed it a waste
of time, money and resources
I disagree with the person from the first passage because if a dog is off its leash it could attack other
animals and people. For example, in the second passage it states that if a dog is off its leash and
attacks another dog or person the victim can rightfully sue bothe the dog s owner and the city. So if a
person or animal were to be attacked by a dog at a dog park it could end in a very big lawsuit that
could possibly lead to the park being shut down which would ve made all the effort and money they
put into it goto waste.
Another reason i disagree with the person in the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the second passage it is stated the just the fencing for a dog park alone cost $70,000
that s a lot of money just for a place for dogs to run around. It would also be a waste of time, instead
of building a dog park they could be building something useful like a library but instead they have to
waste time building a place for dogs to exercise. Finally, it s a massive waste of resources. For
example, people can just take their dogs on walks or runs but now the city has to waste valuable
resources just because a couple of dog owners don t think their dog is getting enough exercise.
In conclusion, I disagree with the person from the first passage because building a dog park could
allow off leash dogs to attack other animals or people. I also think that building a dog park would be a
burden for who evers live nect to it. Finally I think that building a dog park would be a massive waste

After his departure and delegation of his power the play really begins and the readers are kept waiting for the solution of the problem in the city of Vienna. The Duke who is called a scholar a statesman and a soldier ( Shakespeare, Measure for Measure Act III, sc ii line 126) and yet has ever loved life removed ( Shakespeare, Measure for Measure Act I, sc iii line 9) and contented especially to know himself ( Shakespeare, Measure for Measure Act III, sc ii line 199 200) can not overcome by argument why he delegated authority and yet wanted to watch the trusted man, Angelo. On the part of Angelo , authority was drive upon him. Angelo himself says: Let there be some more test made of my metal ( Shakespeare, Measure for Measure Act I, sc i line 49) In the play, the duke and Angelo show different attitude towards their ruling and applying law. The Duke being an authoritative figure and holder of kingship neglects to apply the law for many years in the city where vices are grown in its fullest form again he fears to re apply the law. Because he is concerned about his image before the citizen of Vienna as he speaks I love the people,/But do not like to stage me to their eyes ( Shakespeare, Measure for Measure Act I, sc i line 67 68). It is very evident that one of the main responsibilities that the Hershey Trust Board views their responsibility to be is to the Milton Hershey School. In 1918, Milton Hershey endowed the trust board. The objective of this endowment was to have full support for the Milton Hershey School. To make a fair evaluation of HFC and the other bidding companies we would compare the companies WACC and the required rate of return which in this case we would use the Ke (CAPM), where the Hershey s WACC is less than the CAPM (which is used to estimate the required rate of return which is suitable for an asset). Taking the companies rates of return and the percentage for the wacc, for each invested dollar that the Hershey, Wrigley, Nestle and Cadbury Schweppes, 0.0041cents, 0cents, 0.0099cents and 0.0088cents respectively are values the companies managed to gain. Hence, Hershey was fairly valued by the stock market because for every dollar it was investing out of the bidding companies it was the one who was gaining less (this is not taking into consideration Wrigley because it is a company which only concentrates on chewing gums so it will not be fair to compare it with the other three companies. Also, to support the point that the stock market did a fair valuation of Hershey, the market value of equity for Hershey was low even though it had the highest price per share out of the other three companies. • 4. Csr And Its Usefulness For Modern Business Many social scientists and economists like Friedman (1917 NYT article); Visser (2010) and Karnani (2011) have been looking at the arguments for and against Corporate Social Responsibility . There are many different definitions of CSR but the idea behind it is that businesses contribute to the well being of society, as well as sustainable development by delivering environmental, economic and social benefits to society, not just economic benefits to the shareholders. Most writers have made slightly different cases against CSR and its usefulness for modern business and society. One can see, even by looking at relevant case studies, that there are certainly a large amount of flaws involved in the concept of CRS and DWBD (Doing well by doing good), which I shall point out over the rest of this coursework. I shall also consider the positive aspects of CSR, I will explore the critical writings off Karnani, who claimed that in each case CSR is either irrelevant or ineffective, and compare those to other notable criticisms such as Reich and Visser who all analyse various faults with the concept of CSR. A problem that I came across early in my research and reading was that motives for businesses to engage in CSR are very often not pure. Many businesses use CSR in order to claim their social licence to operate. As the CSR activity often makes them seem legitimate and responsible, it gives managers an opportunity to hide and disguise the activities of the corporation. This is the ... • 5. Minority Rights And Minority Rights In much of the political science and law literatures, the term `minority rights is used to refer to legal provisions that have two key features: first, they are intended to recognize or accommodate the distinctive needs of non dominant ethnic or racial groups; and second, they do so by adopting minority specific measures, above and beyond the non discriminatory enforcement of universal individual rights that apply regardless of group membership. In this respect, minority rights are often distinguished from anti discrimination policies, as two distinct (but complementary) tools for protecting minorities from injustice at the hands of dominant groups. Ensuring that members of minorities have equal access as individual citizens to the ballot box is an anti discrimination measure; ensuring that a certain number of parliamentary seats are reserved for members of minorities, or establishing self governing institutions within a minority s homeland, are minority rights measures. Similarly, the right to speak or publish freely in a minority language is entailed by the basic individual right of freedom of speech to forbid speech in a minority language would constitute discrimination in the exercise of that right but to insist that the state provide road signs, public education or tax forms in a minority s language is a minority right. Minority rights, in short, involve positive group specific measures, not just the non discriminatory enforcement of universal individual rights. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Overcoming Obstacles In High School Life Throughout the last four years I have been prepared for the rest of my life. High school itself has been pretty easy but, when you add life to the mix the struggle begins. The last four years I have faced many obstacles, including fighting body issues, supporting my family, and facing life on my own. Within the classroom, I have been prepared to face the outside world by my teachers and the courses they have taught me. The most detrimental part of my getting through high school was my sports teams, coaching, and NHS. If it wasn t for being apart of something I would have never found an escape from the stress I was enduring. Once I found the power of the tennis racquet and the force of the water, my life changed. My home life wasn t the best, I was the mom, maid, and bill payer. I didn t get to act like a kid, I didn t get to take a break. Growing up with no rules may seem fun but I can say from experience it s a nightmare. At home, I was always on my toes. In the walls of the school I could always feel safe. I not only came to school everyday, but came early to do homework during breakfast, had practice every day, got initiated in the NHS, and coached the jr. high swim team. I managed to do this 5 day out of the week to keep busy. Then when I eventually was old enough, I held a job, I would take the bus back and forth, day or night. • 11. Analysis Of William Blake s Frankenstein Essay Sadaf Tabibzadeh English 6 Professor Dossett 10.02.2015 Contraries in Frankenstein Most people would think that contraries only exist to dominate each other, making the other side appear less significant. However, the opposite of this is true. The beauty of a rose stands out more because of the thorns that it contains. Without the thorns, it would just be an average flower. A day wouldn t be as bright if it wasn t compared to the darkness of night. And joy wouldn t be so joyful, if it wasn t for pain (50 cent). Contrasts highlight movements in an element, by pointing out the differences that are shown by the opposite side. They in fact, bring out the good and bad features in anything. William Blake is known for his famous quote, Without contraries there is no progression. He continues to show contraries in many of his works, including Marriage of Heaven and Hell , and his poem written in 1794, The Sick Rose, Blake introduces the idea of contraries that are layered in the simplicity of these lines. At first, to the reader, it may only seem that he is writing about a simple dying rose, however there is more to it. He is also mentioning how this is benefiting the worm that decides to reside in it. The best interpretation that comes to mind, is the loss of virginity. The rose symbolizes a virgin, pure and untampered (a vagina). The invisible worm symbolizes the possibility of penetration (penis). This can be a feminist take on the idea of beauty and destruction. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Washington Post By Alfonzo Porter Technology has the power to change and alter the way we live our lives in many ways that most of us do not even realize it. As the years go by, modern technology has created countless opportunities with endless resources. These resources can be accessed by billions of people worldwide. However, some may wonder what changes technology has made, and have these changes improved or damaged our lives? Many authors and publishers have pondered this and publicly expressed their own perspectives over the issue of modern technology. Alfonzo Porter, a publisher for The Washington Post, is a strong believer that technology has caused massive problems when it comes to educating students. The publisher mentions that student are losing interest in school and becoming more distracted with their cellular devices. In the newspaper, Porter writes, 76 percent of teachers believed students are being conditioned by the internet to find quick answers, leading to a loss of concentration. Alfonzo Porter believes that students are not taking advantage of technology, instead, they are manipulating it. In today s modern society, there is a higher percentage of students using their cellphones to find answers, compared to students that are properly reading a book to find solutions to their problems. This issue is leading students becoming less interested in expanding their knowledge. Another publisher, named Frederic G. Reamer, is a supporter of the negative effects technology have ... Although the clinical experience as a nursing student gave her basic knowledge and understanding about the importance of the nursing profession in a health care setting, the fast paced environment required her to have more application of her cultural awareness. In her current practice, she worked with Patient Z, a 33 year old male who is an immigrant from Southeast Asia, who needed a transfusion of packed red blood cells (PRBC) for his preexisting anemia. The patient avoided eye contact all throughout the assessment and denied any pain or discomfort. The patient eventually denied the treatment due to his religion and beliefs. He later disclosed that he is a practicing Jehovah s Witness. The nurse respected the client s decision of the patient to decline the treatment and collected all of the information she could find about the patient s culture as a Southeast Asian and a Jehovah s Witness. While doing so, she coordinated with the physician in taking another treatment course for this patient. The patient agreed to receive Erythropoietin treatment as a substitute for the initial care plan and was carefully monitored which resulted to favorable outcome validated by the patient s lab works. Increasing the exports will enhance the ability of the small urban area to pay for its imports. They could target investment and industrial policy to develop potential new areas of comparative advantage. Drone Technology And The Issue Several important ethical and moral concerns have come to the surface regarding drone technology and the issue is currently investigated and even debated in Congress. Until recently, when we hear the word drone, most of us automatically add the word attack on the end or think of something negative. That s because mostly, drones are frequently used for surveillance, intelligence and, ultimately, offensive operations. Drones also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles , or UAV s are mostly used in situations where manned flight is too difficult or dangerous, making them ideal for warfare. Increasingly, the United States has come to rely on the use of drones to counter the terrorist threats. Drones have arguably produced significant success in dealing with terrorists while limiting civilian casualties and protecting U.S. soldiers, but it has raised some serious ethical concerns. Drones are now going beyond conflict zones to the point that they will be landing on your doorstep in a few years time. Drones are also used extensively in scientific researches, for species surveys, terrain mapping, border patrolling, geophysics surveys and many more other applications that yet to develop. David Rock, the co founder of the NeuroLeadership Institute states that multitasking drops a person s IQ. We love the feeling of multitasking, too. Our brains get excited over multitasking, but this is not the most efficient way to work. Studies have found that doing more than one task at a time splits the brain. • 22. Pathos, Pros, And Cons And Uses Of The Hyundai Commercials One product most people use in their everyday lives are vehicles. I have chosen two commercials, one advertising the Honda Ridgeline and the other marketing the Hyundai Elantra. In the Honda commercial, a farmer tends to his sheep, that start singing as soon as the farmer drives away. The Hyundai commercial is very comical, showing a town where everyone is Ryan Reynolds to catch your attention. These commercials use pathos, ethos, and logos to sell their product. Advertisements use many forms of persuasion to get people to buy their product. One of these is pathos, which appeals to the emotions of the audience and evokes their feelings. In the Honda commercial, one can see sheep in the pasture singing to Somebody to Love after the farmer drives off in his new Honda Ridgeline. This is very humorous, considering sheep do not speak, let alone belt out notes from Queen. Not only are there singing sheep, but there is a talking dog towards the end of the commercial which tells those who are watching about the Honda Ridgeline ( Honda Ridgeline Super Bowl Commercial internet). This is similar to the Hyundai commercial, which is also very amusing. The audience can see two women driving through a neighborhood, where every person is Ryan Reynolds. For the first control test, we used vegetable oil to test for lipids. So, if the solution does not contain lipids, it does not become translucent when placed onto a paper bag square and held up to a light. So, it is a negative result. However, in the presence of lipids, the solution will become translucent when placed onto a paper bag square and held up to a light. Therefore in this case, the result is positive. On the other hand, we used albumin egg to test for proteins in another control test. If the solution does not contain proteins, it will not experience any color change and so it is a negative result. When there are proteins existing in the solution, it will turn bluish/purplish and for this reason it is a positive result. Furthermore in the third control test, we used dextrose to test for simple carbohydrates such as glucose. If the solution does not contain simple carbohydrates, it will not undergo any color change and will remain a blue color. So, it is a negative result in this circumstance. If there are simple carbohydrates present in the solution, the solution will turn reddish and so the result is positive. For the last control test, we used starch solution to test ... Least to say when I saw a spin off, Fuller House was being released this past year to Netflix I was extremely excited. Coincidently, the spin off released during the time of this course. Believe it or not, I immediately referenced parenting styles to the episode where DJ Tanner punishes her son a little differently than Kimmy Gibler punishes her daughter, although the committed the same crime. I am hoping to dissect this exact scene, and discuss DJ parenting style towards her son. I find the parenting styles really interesting, specifically the four we discussed in module four and I really want to focus on that here. Earlier in the course, we discussed Darling four parenting styles and for some reason, these really stuck with me. The parenting style theory reflects four different types of parents. Indulgent parents tend to more responsive than they are demanding (Darling) I like to think of indulgent parents as what todays generation thinks of as cool parents . They tend to be more lenient and let the child do as they please because they want to avoid confrontation. Darling also discusses Authoritarian and Authoritative parents which are slightly different. Authoritarian style parents, are a little over barring. To me, I would consider this style to be a bulldozer parent. Authoritarian style parents are very demanding and very directive. All are specially concerned with counting the total amount of goods and services produced within some boundary . Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of the complication of the multiple stages in the production of a good or service, only the final value of a good or service is included in the total output. This avoids an issue often called double counting , wherein the total value of a good is included several times in national output, by counting it repeatedly in several stages of production. In the example of meat production, the value of the good from the farm may be $10, then $30 from the butchers, and then $60 from the supermarket. The value that should be included in final national output should be $60, not the sum of all those numbers, $90. The values added at each stage of production over the previous stage are respectively $10, $20, and $30. Their sum gives an alternative way of calculating the value of final output. Formulae: GDP(gross domestic product) at market price = value of output in an economy in the particular year intermediate consumption NNP at factor cost = GDP at market price depreciation + NFIA (net factor income from abroad) net indirect taxes[3] [edit]The income approach The income approach equates the total output of a nation to the total factor income received by residents or citizens of the nation. • 30. Of Means And Ends Saul Alinsky Summary I was particularly struck by Saul Alinsky when he discoursed about people who demand for change but do nothing about it. Alinsky had a particular contention on the issue of means and ends, or in the terminology of informal education, on process and product. He was certainly aggravated by people who would not take action to uphold their principles. I would like to quote from chapter Of Means and Ends in Rules for Radicals, He who sacrifices the mass good for his personal conscience has a peculiar conception of personal salvation ; he doesn t care enough for people to be corrupted for them . This made me question my own values and principles, and encouraged me to not only demand for change, but to establish concrete actions. The radical reasons that were employed by Alinsky in said chapter were the ones that captured me most. Ethical and philosophical discourses about what is right or wrong often leave open ended questions in my mind. To say that something is right or wrong, one may follow some code of ethics, (e.g. law of God, etc.). One argument might seem ethical for someone, but it is unethical for another one. • 33. Being A Mental State Of Awareness Conscious is thought to be a mental state in which we are able to process information and act on it. However this term is used to describe a state of awareness while awake whereas there seems to be varying levels of consciousness that describe most mental states. If information can be perceived (knowing or unknowingly) then it is likely that you are conscious, e.g. even when in light sleep we can dream and may even wake up on hearing a loud noise, therefore the brain still processes information, however in deep sleep this is not the case. When looking at consciousness, there is what Levine described as the explanatory gap (Levine, 1983). This states that in the present moment we are not able to provide an explanation for the phenomena that is consciousness however as time goes on and our knowledge of neuroscience increases this gap will close gradually until it is non existent (Block Young, 1996). However despite this statement being made by Levine around 30 years ago, the explanatory gap still remains although it is clearly beginning to close, we still have some way to go before we can begin to understand what consciousness is. Consciousness is inherently a subjective matter as there are many different meanings for the word which are seemingly thrown around without much thought, there is no way to prove that one normal experience of consciousness is the same as another (qualia) and we are unable to scientifically explain conscious experiences.
