Jordan Dbq Essay
Introduction: Fighting and finishing Israel is of most importance to maintain our position in the Arab
world. The republic of Jordan after the six day war against Israel had lost a lot of territory including
the west bank, which was a big chunk of land, which Jordan had. According to new testaments Jordan
s King Hussein made it clear to Prime Minister Golda Meir that he must do so as to preserve his
position in the Arab world, and asked Israel not to attack Jordan.
Since Jordan was a part of the Arabic community of countries it had to make a decision to fight with
them or to let this war pass. Jordan making the correct decision made a final decision and decided that
they were not going to attack Israel because they came to a conclusion that if they did they would
loose more land. When Syria went at war Jordan had no other choice but to send men to aid and help
out his brother countries. But as soon as Jordan took the action of sending 500 men and artillery to
Syria and Egypt but every time their men were going take some kind of action they would acted
slowly and cautiously if they could. Jordan as a whole really did want to get into a war with Israel they
just had to pretend they were so, so they would be still in the Arabic community.
Argument Number One: The point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analyzing Harry Harlow s Monkey Love

English 101A
In chapter six Monkey Love Harry Harlow, an American psychologist, wanted to prove that babies
prefer a gentle mother over a feeding mother. Harlow chose macaques for his experiment because they
are the closest specie compared with humans. The experiment that Harlow conducted consisted of the
infant monkeys being taken away from their birth mother, being placed in cages with a wired clothed
mother and a wired feeding mother. The monkeys preferred the clothed mother over the wire feeding
mother. The findings of the experiment were over the edge, says Harlow, We were not surprised to
discover that contact comfort was an important basic affectional or love variable, but we did not
expect it to overshadow so

Struggle Of Funding During The Nineteenth Century Essay
Struggle of Funding In the early 17th century colonist was required to teach their children how to read
the bible. During this period, the Puritans in Massachusetts enacted the Old Deluder Act, forcing
communities of fifty families or more to establish funds, and operate schools. Many didn t follow the
law because they were not privileged as the wealthy communities were; therefore, many poor children
remained uneducated unless they were taught by their families. According to Bayer Sampat, (2016),
the Land Ordinance of 1875, and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 were passed requiring areas to
establish schools. Thomas Jefferson and Dr. Benjamin Rush spoke in favor of a public education
system, unfortunately it wasn t established until the nineteenth century.
Moving forward, the United States public schools funding comes from the state, the federal
government, and local communities. The appropriation of these funds varies according to several
factors; however, the federal government only gives a fraction of these funds compared to the local
and state governments. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in the United States,
about 93% is funded via the state and local governments (Bayer Sampat, 2016).
As world economy changes defining and reshaping educational policies, goals were set to make global
organizations efficient by decreasing spending to promote cost effectiveness and encouraging
establishments to do better with less. School districts in the

The Compromise of 1850 Essay
The compromise of 1850 was a settlement on a series of issues plaguing the unity of the states. The
primary issue to address was the institution of slavery, which was causing much dissension between
the north and the south. Additional items to be addressed were territory issues and to prevent secession
by the south. Henry Clay stepped forward to present a compromise, which had Congress in an eight
month discussion known as the Great Debate . As a result of the proposal, there were strong
oppositions. One outspoken person who opposed the proposal was John C Calhoun. Calhoun was an
intellectual southern politician, political philosopher and a proponent to the protection of Southern
interests. He was an advocate for states rights and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Webster believed the issue of slavery was settled long ago, when the regions were divided into slave
and free states, and he also believed an agreement could be reached between the pro slavery positions
in the south and anti slavery position in the north. Comparatively, Calhoun and Webster both saw the
union was in danger of falling apart, they also both believed the issues of slavery between the north
and the south was the major cause. Where they disagreed was on the future state of slavery. Calhoun
saw the compromise as a betrayal of the south; he sought to have the northerners agree to the
protection of slavery in the south so the south would remain in the union. Calhoun knew slavery pre
existed and believed it must continue to exist. Webster was more of a pacifist, he pleaded with the
northerners to accept demands of the south in order to save the union, even though he did not accept
the fact slavery needed to continue. Webster deeply believed that preservation of the union was more
important than any other issue. In addition, William Henry Seward also opposed the proposed
compromise. Seward was a New York politician and secretary of state and was one of the major
political figures of the mid nineteenth century; he became one of the most outspoken anti slavery
politicians of the period. Seward condemned Clay s resolutions on the

High-Stakes Testing
High Stakes Testing is used to determine whether the students are being taught well by the teacher.
This test is important because it will decide if the students has met all the demands required to
graduate school. High Stakes Testing will make education better because this test will be a good way
to view all the scores from the students and seeing which students are in need to academically improve
more and the students that does not need improvements at all. This test will give them an idea of how
many efforts they should put into to help the students obtain their education. According to Jay P.
Greene, Margaret Raymond and Eric Hanushek of Stanford University have demonstrated that states
with high stakes tests made better test improvements.

Unit 3 Ip

2011 Abstract As being a Marketing manager looking for a job and getting ready for interviews takes a
big challenge also with trying to find out what is the best parts of the business before you go for the
interview. It is always good to find out about the business before you interview for the job, so you can
have some questions in mind to what you want to ask and put out yourself some new marketing
opportunities. In this further reading you will read about three different firms that a marketing
manager is getting interviewed at and three marketing opportunities that are suggested for the firms.
This will also talk about what is the best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This marketing opportunity is organized as a homerun; I do strongly recommend the coloring
activities and puzzles for the kids more than I do with thee more leg room of taking out some rows.
Mainly I think so because the kid s ideas are less expensive and a better opportunity to be more
affordable than my first idea of taking out seats. Taking out seats and rows would make a decrease in
financial profit and South West airlines wouldn t make as much money as they did before taking out
the rows. So again the kid s activities are a best financial saving plan. This idea would have a positive
effect and reflect on the firm as having happier kids and parents, also the person next to them. This
marketing opportunity has no risk. Wal Mart Wal Mart has been around for years and as a marketing
manager I have been selected to be interviewed for a job and be asked of three marketing
opportunities to what I think could be helpful to Wal Mart in any way of change. As looking at the Wal

shoes, food, and even electronics and jewelry (Wal Mart, 2011). My three marketing opportunities are

Equity of Trade Versus Free Trade Essay
Equity of Trade Versus Free Trade
The U.S. has a huge trade imbalance with most trading nations. The imbalance is not in agriculture,
although many food products both raw and processed enter the U.S. at prices below those for
comparable U.S. grown foodstuffs. To a large degree the imbalance is in manufactured goods. One
reason is that many nations have lower costs of production based upon a lower standard of living,
cheap labor, inexpensive raw materials, protective government policy, etc. Multinationals who have
moved their plants to foreign locations enjoy the best of both worlds inexpensive manufacturing costs
and unlimited access to the world s biggest consumer market, the USA. Our laissez faire trade stance,
when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s logical to believe that the foreign trading entity will not leave all the tariff money and accrued
interest to go into the U.S. Treasury by default. It will purchase a like amount of goods and services to
wipe out the trade credit account.
Analyze what happened: No one got taken advantage of. America got the imported goods. The foreign
entity received a like amount of American goods or services. The trade books are balanced. All monies
earned interest every step of the way.
The U.S. didn t allow inexpensive foreign goods to displace American goods on price alone. It made
the foreign goods compete on a quality basis with American goods. American consumers will make
the choice of which is better at a comparable price. If the foreign goods are really superior to the
American goods, then the foreign manufacturer will have earned an increased share of the world
market and the U.S. manufacturer or ag producer will have to get more competitive or go out of
business. The reverse is also true so the free market and the law of supply and demand still gets a
chance to work, but it works on the basis of quality and value, not upon inherent differences in world
standards of living.
Is it logical for the U.S. to unilaterally adopt Equity of Trade? It is logical if Americans want to
continue the nation s constitutional directive to protect the American

The Dark Knight Analysis
The Dark Knight is a superhero movie and is part of a sequel. It comes second after Batman Begins. It
is a fantastic movie directed by Christopher Nolan. The main Theme of this movie is Faith. The plot
and Characters develop this theme in a few ways. When the film opens up we have a bank robbery
scene in the city of gotham and we encounter the joker, our antagonist. Because of this we see a chain
of crimes happening around the city and the people of Gotham turn their faith toward the Batman.
This is the basic plot of the film where the protagonists are trying to restore people s faith back into
the city and the police force. The characters develop this theme by carrying out the plot of the film and
helping restore faith back into the city. The visual design plays a big role in developing the film s
theme. A majority of the time the films color is dark and the colors palate that is used is to the darker
side. The setting of this movie is determiner of character because it takes place in a setting that
Batman doesn t have too much control over and he is working to protect that and survive in that place.
We also see a setting for sheer visual impact at times such as when we see a deep focus camera shot of
the entire city and see how much chaos is going on and what the protagonists are trying to do to
restore faith back into the city. The functions of the setting in this film also have symbolic significance
to the theme and it impacts it very much. We mostly see this in the

The Working Memory Model
The working memory model was proposed by Baddeley and Hitch in 1974 as an alternative to
Atkinson Shiffrin s multi store model of memory. They argued that the short term memory was not a
passive, temporary store used to transfer information to the long term memory. Instead, they suggested
that it should instead be regarded as an active store which holds information as it is being worked on.
It is described by Cohen (1990) as the focus of consciousness , holding the information that is being
thought about currently. The model has four components: the central executive, the phonological loop,
the visuo spatial sketchpad, and the episodic buffer.
The central executive is the key, supervisory component of working memory, directing the subsidiary
systems. It decides which incoming information will be allocated attention, as well as coordinating the
activity needed to carry out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is relevant to both traditional STM tasks and activities such as verbal reasoning,
comprehension, and mental arithmetic.
An advantage of the working memory model is that it explains certain neurological results in a way
that the multi store model cannot. For example, Patient KF (Warrington Shallice, 1974) had verbal
difficulties, however his short term memory for visual information and meaningful sounds (such as a
phone ringing) were unaffected. The model explains these results. An impaired phonological loop can
account for the verbal impairment, and the fact that his memory for visual information works well can
be explained by an intact visuo spatial sketchpad.
A disadvantage of the working memory model is that, although it is a major improvement on the multi
store model, it is oversimplified. There are several other types of information that are processed and
briefly stored, however the model does not represent

Essay On Sociology Is The Father Of Sociology
Sociology
1. What is the science of sociology?
Sociology is defined as a systematic arrangement of knowledge that indicates operations in
consideration to the general laws. In a general approach, sociology is defined briefly as the study of
how human interact in their daily social life. The word sociology is developed from two main other
words socio and logos . The meaning of socio is society and the meaning of logos is science. That
means sociology is the science used to study human social life. In addition to this sociology is not
concerned with only the social interaction but also the daily social changes.
Different approaches have been developed for the study and examination of sociology but never has
there been an acceptable concept to this study. The reason is that sociology involves a study of human
lives and the behaviors and therefore, it is a very complicated topic to study. Sociology is composed
by various sociological theories which in many cases they contradict each other leading to a lot of
issues about this topic (Horowitz, 2017).
Auguste Comte is considered the father of sociology because he was interested in the study of society

favorability of women showing signs of menstruation, and decide if said menstrual signs affected the
general objectification of women. Researchers used descriptive evidence such as: where the

Research Results. The main findings of the study were separated into four separate categories, one for
the competence of the participants, one for the liking of the participant, one for the objectification of
women, and one for the physical distancing in the waiting room. In relation to the competence of the
participants results revealed that those in the tampon conditioning rated their partner s competence

Freedom Of Speech In Schools
Student Rights in School Freedom of speech is one of the most important parts of the First
Amendment, and it applies to everyone even students. Every day, students come to school to learn
about many things, including citizenship. In order to teach young people rights, they must have rights
in the first place. Although students should have free speech rights, the school has a right to limit
certain things that could hurt the students. In the past, cases have been brought to the Supreme Court
involving student speech in school, and they have set the precedents used today. Today in schools,
students have enough free speech rights, but their rights should include publishing in school

Is the poet saying that the young man now understands that he will lose his own youth and passion,
after listening to the lamentations in the three preceding quatrains? Or is the poet saying that the
young man now is aware of the poet s imminent demise, and this knowledge makes the young man s
love for the poet stronger because he might soon loose him? What must the young man give up before
long his youth or his friend? The answer could lie in the interpretation of both the young man s and
the poet s character in other sonnets.
*****
Sonnets 71 74 are typically analyzed as a group, linked by the poet s thoughts of his own mortality.
However, Sonnet 73 contains many of the themes common throughout the entire body of sonnets,
including the ravages of time on one s physical well being and the mental anguish associated with
moving further from youth and closer to death. Time s destruction of great monuments juxtaposed
with the effects of age on human beings is a convention seen before, most notably in Sonnet 55.
The poet is preparing his young friend, not for the approaching literal death of his body, but the
metaphorical death of his youth and passion. The poet s deep insecurities swell irrepressibly as he
concludes that the young man is now focused only on the signs of his aging as the poet surely is
himself. This is illustrated by the linear development of the three quatrains.

Speer’s Rise in the Nazi Party Essay
Speer s Rise in the Nazi Party
Albert Speer rose from a mere architect to be one of the most influential Nazi leaders of the Third

effectively utilised in the Nazi war effort. However, Speer s rise in the NSDAP was often degraded by

Albert Speer s organisation of the May Day Rally at Tempelhof airfield in 1933 was a major

Speer encircled the field with a ring of search lights, projecting light thousands on meters into the sky
in what became known as the cathedral of ice , a setting that was complimented by huge Nazi and
German flags as a backdrop. Subsequently, Speer was appointed the position of Commissioner for the

The History of the Russian Revolution Essay
The Russian Revolution is a widely studied and seemingly well understood time in modern, European
history, boasting a vast wealth of texts and information from those of the likes of Robert Service,
Simon Sebag Montefiore, Allan Bullock, Robert Conquest and Jonathan Reed, to name a few, but
none is so widely sourced and so heavily relied upon than that of the account of Leon Trotsky, his
book History of the Russian Revolution a somewhat firsthand account of the events leading up to the
formation of the Soviet Union. There is no doubt that Trotsky s book, among others, has played a
pivotal role in shaping our understanding of the events of The Revolution; but have his personal

Above standpoint of Liberal historians that did much of the post Union analysis at the tail end of the
Cold War. This forms many of our traditional views of the nature of The Revolution. The view is also
entangled with Soviet historical development; many of the preliminary analyses were conducted by
the Bolshevik revolutionaries themselves and, as such, they are highly political and driven by the need
to establish the legitimacy of the Bolshevik regime. While Trotsky is a standout of these historians for
his political dissent and blatant disregard for Stalinist power, he is still one of many. This fact greatly
mitigates his effect on the passage of history; his need to legitimise the revolution echoes the
sentiments of the Politburo historians such as Mikhail Pokrovsky, one of the foremost Bolshevik
Historians of the time and one of Trotsky s ideological and Historical rivals. While this may be the
case for the more information limited Soviet historians, the more modern, revisionist historians such
as Edward Acton, Robert Service, Harold Shukman and Steven Smith have had great exposure to
much of the confidential literature, kept secret by the many Soviet Purges and the prolific Iron Curtain

Analysis Of The Movie The Englishman s Boy
The film The Englishman s boy is a screen adaptation of Guy Vanderhaeghe s book of the same name.
Vanderhaeghe also wrote the screenplay for the film. The book was based on the true story of the
Cypress Hills massacre in 1873. I will provide a summary of the film s most important plot points,
characters and background information. The movie covers the horrors that were witnessed in Cypress
Hills and shows the inhumane way Native Americans have been treated since colonization, in 1873
and through to the 1920s. The movie explains how white men were hearkened as heroes for
committing these atrocities which were largely excused because society at that time viewed natives as
inhuman and therefore undeserving of human rights. The film was set with a background in both 1873
pioneer plains and 1920s Hollywood. This method was used to show a dualism within the two eras
and that negative attitudes towards Native Americans had not been corrected as they should have been
but only muffled. I will compare the film and its accuracy to the actual Cypress Hills massacre and
determine what dramatics were used to make a point within the direction of the movie. This film and
the subsequent essay is relevant to this class because I believe that even though the crimes committed
against native Americans are less obviously racist, violent and vulgar today, there is still a derogatory
indifference towards them and their cries for equality.
The film opens in 1873, with a young man working as a

Boarding School Research Paper
Boarding schools are scary enough for children who speak the same language. Imagine a village,
soldiers come in and take the children, age five and older, away in a wagon. The children arrive at a
school far away from home, family, and culture. Separated according to age and sex, stripped of their
clothes, bathed, and forced to stand still as they get their hair cut, many are crying, terrified of what is
happening. They receive uniforms, and new Christian names, thus stripping them of their identities.
Unfortunately, this is how most Indian children received an introduction to boarding school. The plan
was to use education to assimilate the children into the Christian culture. There is a thin line between
the success and failure of the assimilation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

began self assimilating with the promise of financial assistance to relocate to urban areas of the United
States. Whereas, the British Columbians granted citizenship to the Indians of their era and allow them
to choose whether they will live on the reserve or within the general population of the country. The
silent assimilation created by the relocation program and the decisions that the British Columbian
government made regarding the Indians was successful. The indication of this success is the fact that
twenty two percent of U.S. Indians and one third of British Columbia Indians live on reservations,
showing that silent assimilation with incentives is more successful than forced

Citizenfour s Three Stages
Citizenfour is a documentary about Edward Snowden, alias Citizenfour, and his undertaking in
exposing the controversial and intrusive surveillance system used by the National Security Agency
(NSA). The documentary is directed by Laura Poitras, a director and producer of documentary films.
Prior to Citizenfour, she had published a documentary on Iraq War called My Country, My Country
and a documentary on Guantanamo and the war on terror called The Oath. Citizenfour thus became
the third installment in her trilogy on America after the September 11 terrorist attack. There are three
stages to the documentary: (1) Edward Snowden establishing a connection, (2) interviewing Edward
Snowden while publishing news on the NSA s surveillance, and (3) the aftermath of the disclosure of
information.
The first stage, set in early 2013, involves Snowden establishing an anonymous connection with
Poitras and exchanging emails that ascertain his ownership of information on the government spying

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Chlorine
Since chlorine production is corrosive in nature, the anode (chorine is formed) is made using a metal
which is non reactive in nature such as titanium, on the other hand cathode (hydroxide ions are
formed) is made from a metal which can be easily oxidized such as nickel.
In membrane cell, an ion permeable membrane separates cathode and anode. Saturated brine is sent to
the compartment with cathode (the anolyte). DC current is passed and the NaCl is broken into its
constituent components with the help of this DC current. The membrane sends Na+ ions to anode
compartment which is the catholyte, where it forms sodium hydroxide in solution. Only positive ions
are allowed to pass through the membrane in order to prevent mixing of NaOH and HCl. The chloride
ions are oxidized to form chlorine in gaseous form and it occurs at anode, which is collected, purified
and stored. As a result Hydroxide ions and hydrogen formation takes place at the cathode.

Efficient brine filtration is crucial to the proper operation of the ion exchange system. Solids will foul
the resin, increase resin s differential pressure and there is a possibility that they damage the resin
itself. Proper operation of the secondary brine filters is highly necessary for successful operation of
the ion exchange system.
The brine ion exchange system should be located downstream of any mercury removal system, not
upstream. Mercury is removed from the brine by the IER8 630 resin, but it is not stripped from the
resin during regeneration. Therefore, any mercury removed from this resin will permanently reduce
the capacity of the resin, thereby shortening its cycle time (i.e. shortening the length of time between
consecutive regenerations). It is therefore highly necessary that any upstream mercury removal system
eliminates maximum mercury

So what exactly is a tavern wench ?
Well, it s basically a period costume but has many modern variations on the theme. A tavern wench is
a woman or girl that serves in a tavern, Inn or Pub. She is basically the focal point of many of the
patrons attentions because she either serves them a frosty brew , dispenses advice or is simply pleasing
on the eye.
A tavern wench from olden times might wear a peasant top with a bustier or corset on top. She will
wear an ankle length skirt. She may wear a cloth cap or bonnet. Her costume accentuates her figure
which she uses to charm the patrons of the tavern.
There are all sorts of tavern wench costumes that are more modern. These include Oktoberfest serving
wench costumes which are fairly accurate representations of the real servers at the annual Munich beer
festival. A derivation on this theme is the Lederhosen serving wench, who wears the knickerboker
pants and braces instead of a skirt. These costumes can be really sexy and ideal if you are the host of a

Respiratory gating techniques are used to track the tumor motion in uenced by respiratory cycles

Two important components that are considered when analyzing respiratory motion patterns are phase
and displacement. The beam is red at the target site depending on the phase or displacement
windows chosen during the respiratory motion. Due to the gated technique, the overall treatment
process takes longer when compared to the conventional methods of administering radiation therapy.
The ratio between the gated beam delivery and the overall treatment time determines the eciency of
the treatment called duty cycle. However, even after the gate has been optimized for a respiratory
cycle, there exists minimal tumor motion called the residual motion Berbeco et al. (2005). To optimize
the gateing technique that improves the therapeutic ecacy of radiation therapy and provides patient
safety, a balance between the two (duty cycle and residual motion) needs to be met. The location and
the size of the gate are dependent on the tracking of the target site or host organ by means of internal
and external surrogates, internal and external markers or markerless

special educational needs. The sampling aimed to choose outstanding early years provisions graded by

included a school nursery and only results from three out of five case studies were discussed in the
final analysis. They did not also explain how the sample of 3 settings was selected. Although the

Introduction
A Temporary Matter was originally published in the New Yorker in April 1998 and is the first story in
Jhumpa Lahiri s debut collection, Interpreter of Maladies (1999). The collection won the 2000 Pulitzer
Prize for fiction, a rare achievement for a short story collection.
The story takes place over five days, beginning March 19, at the suburban Boston home of a married
couple, Nadia and Ali. During this week, when they must cope with a one hour power outage each
evening, the grief and alienation that the two have suffered since the stillbirth of their child six months

The Major Hormonal Changes That Occur During Adolescence
1. Describe the major hormonal changes that occur during adolescence. Describe girls reactions to
menarche and boys reactions to spermarche during puberty. What factors influence the way
adolescents respond? Describe the impact of puberty on parent c hild interaction and the adaptive
value of this change in adolescents relationships with their parents.
During Adolescence children are transitioning into adulthood. At this time, both boys and girls are
experiencing hormonal changes. Both sexes react differently to these changes. Girls begin menarche
typically between the ages of twelve and thirteen years of age. At this time girls are mostly informed,
however girls still feel that they are not prepared and find themselves in a state of surprise when
menarche starts (Berk, 2014, p. 365). It has been found that African American girls may be better
prepared for their change and transition much easier than their Caucasian classmates. Girls tend to tell
their friends that they are menstruating; therefore they are more apt to get the support of others
through this change (Berk, 2014, p. 368). Boys become sexually mature between the ages of eleven
and fourteen. Around the age of thirteen, a boy my experience his first spermarche, or first ejaculation.

Descartes Meditations Ontological Argument Essay
Descartes Meditations Ontological Argument
Descartes s fifth Meditation argument for God s existence relies on an untenable notion that existence
is a perfection and that it can be predicated of God. I shall first explain what Descartes s argument for
God s existence is, and then present his argument in propositional form. I will then attempt to support
the argument that existence is neither a perfection nor a predicate of God.
In our thoughts we apprehend ideas of things. These ideas may reside entirely within our thoughts or
they may exist independent of our considerations of them (Descartes 143). Descartes argues that the
idea of God is that He is infinite substance [eternal, immutable], independent, all knowing, ... Show

Existence, therefore, should more properly be thought of as a prerequisite for perfection and not a
perfection in and of itself. Descartes disagrees however, and in his reply to Gassendi he argues that
existence is necessarily predicated of God because existence is a part of the true essence of any perfect
being (Plantinga 49). For Descartes, it is not possible for us to possess the idea of a most perfect being
if this being lacks the most important characteristic of existence. If God did not exist then He would
not be the most perfect being, but we clearly have the idea of the most perfect being so therefore He
must exist. The problem with this notion, however, is that Descartes begs the question by building into
premise (2) the concept of a perfect being which has yet to be demonstrated. In order to demonstrate
God s existence, Descartes should not assume, or presuppose, that which he is attempting to conclude.
But by predicating the existence of God in (2) he has already concluded that which is later restated in
the conclusion. In effect, the follower of Descartes s argument is tricked, for if he or she agrees with
the foundational premises for the sake of the argument (that existence is predicated of a most perfect
being), then there is no choice left but to conclude that God exists.
Further, predicating the existence of a most perfect being based upon the attributes that this being is
believed to possess fails to provide existence to

Another Turn of the Crank by Wendell Berry Essay
Another Turn of the Crank by Wendell Berry Wendell Berry s Another Turn of the Crank is about
sustainability of the environment. He believes that you must first start at a local level then
sustainability can be accomplished at a global level. This is the same idea that was expressed at the
start of this course, think globally, act locally, which means the consequences of our actions effect the
world. As I address the some of the chapters in the book I will associate how Berry s ideas link into
the material discussed in this class. Farming and the Global Economy is the first chapter of the book.

Times magazine reported in 1910 there were 32 million farmers living on farms and in 1991 32
percent of farm managers and 86 percent of farmers did not live on the farm that they took care of.
Now there isn t even an agricultural class. The book goes on to talk about rape and run logging in
Montana. We talked about the fly by night corporations in class. Both are the same just different
terminology. In Montana, the Champion International Corp. went on a tree cutting binge in Montana,
which leveled forests. They then left leaving behind million of people unemployed and over 1,000
square acres stripped. This leaves people poor and the land trashed. This is only one case, but I know
we talked about this in class. These corporations suck everything they can out of a community until
there isn t anything left for them. They decided to leave one day and never think twice about the
people. That s why Berry has come up with a list of actions a community can do to help their own
community flourish. I won t list them all, but I will name a few important ones like: always put local
needs first, develop small scale industries, strive to produce as much of the community s own energy
as possible, see that the old and young take care of each other, and so on. These actions would help a
community grow stronger in many ways. Conserving Forest Communities deals with forestry in

The 5 Communication Styles Based On The Lecture Material
PD7 A2
JRMARION
The 5 communication styles based on the lecture material are competing, avoiding, accommodating,
compromising and collaborating.
The competing style is used when people trying to achieve a goal or accomplish something. It is used
during arguments, such as when you are arguing against somebody else to prove a point.
The avoiding style is used when a person shows little interest in the other party they are
communicating with. This is used when often when interacting with a person you identify as an
unimportant stranger, such as when you bump into a stranger in a crowd and apologize.
The compromising style is used when a person cares about who they are interacting with and care
about their objectives / goals. An example of this would be scheduling with a friend over when to meet
up to do something since you care about their opinion and are willing to try to compromise.
The accommodating stance is used when you care more about the other party s goals more than your
own (in many cases). An example of this would be if your boss asked you to work overtime and even
though you didn t want to you agreed to do it.
The collaborating stance is used when both parties plan to accomplish their goals fully (unlike
compromising where the goals cannot be fully met) and to improve the relationship between them. An
example of this would be trading with somebody where both sides end up better off afterwards.

The use of guns in Romeo and Juliet is essential and is possibly the most important prop used in the
film. The guns replace swords, illustrating the violence between the Montague and Capulet feud.
Similarly, the importance of props to convey and highlight an important idea from the original text is
also evident in The Great Gatsby. Jay Gatsby s signet ring and cane are frequently displayed:
indicative of Jay s stature. Luhrmanns use of cars and the obvious colour similarities in both movies is
evident. In Romeo and Juliet cars are another tool used to demonstrate the Montague and Capulet
feud, the cars are opposite colours: blue for Montague and yellow for Capulet. The use of opposing
hotel buildings with the words Montague and Capulet further reinforce the importance of the feud
from the original text in the film. In The Great Gatsby the use of yellow and blue coloured cars is
similar to that of Romeo and Juliet displaying the opposing parties, Jay Gatsby (yellow) and Tom

Capitalism In America
Capitalism is essentially the economic system in which private owners are able to control industry,
rather than the government. This system fundamentally drives American society and what makes
America particularly attractive to foreigners especially. In a capitalist society, class is not solely based
on birthright, but one has the ability to change his/her class based on income. Ideally, the more income
a person has, the more freedom and power this person is able to exercise. However, business moguls
and government have been known to exploit this fundamental feature of market economy and use it to
their advantage by harboring money (power). But before I put on my tin foil hat and start spewing on
about the government, allow me to ask this question: Where does this system come from? I believe in
order understand the oppressive issues of this system, it s crucial to understand the conditions that
formulated it. It s safe to say that American government is a descendent of English government. The
colonies along the east coast of North America were settled by mostly English settlers in the 17th and
18th centuries. As the English travelled across the Atlantic Ocean, they not only extended the rule of
the English monarchy but also transported their cultural heritage as well. Subsequently, the colonists
revolted against English monarch, King George III, during the American Revolutionary War in the late
18th century. Simply put, colonists felt devalued and exploited by the English

Reflection Essay On Observation
To obtain knowledge, one must study; but to receive wisdom, one must observe. Observation, often
defined as the action or process of watching something or someone to gain information. Throughout
the semester, students within the education department had the genuine opportunity to both learn and
grow as future educators through observations outside of the classroom. Throughout the semester, I
chose to observe at the following programs: Breakaway at Westridge Church, Poole Elementary
School s Learning Bridge, and AWANA at Callie Harbin Baptist Church. As a future educator, I
learned that often observation is education as education and learning are so much more than a
textbook. For my first observation, I chose to observe at a respite event known as Breakaway at
Westridge Church located in Dallas Georgia. Breakaway is a cost free respite event for both special
needs participants and their families. This function allows individuals of all ages to enjoy supervised
entertainment and activities planned precisely for them. Breakaway, Outdoor Extravaganza, an event
consisting of carnival clowns, games, outdoor inflatables, corn hole, hayrides, arts, crafts, face
painting, petting zoo, music, and so much more. Through this observation, I had the genuine
opportunity to view life from different perspectives as special needs individuals enjoyed a day
prepared explicitly for them. For example, I had the opportunity to share such a joyous day with an
individual who holds my heart captive. I sat back and watched as he rode the hayride with his
volunteer; consequently, my heart filled with joy as he laughed the whole way through. Once the
hayride came to a close, he and his volunteer traveled to visit the fire trucks and see all of its bells and
whistles as he had the chance to climb inside. In addition to all the excellent outdoor activities, each
child had a chance to hang out, listen to music, see ballet dancers perform, and hear the word of God
brought forth through interactive Bible stories. This experience overjoyed my heart as I saw firsthand
that children with special needs paint the world with beautiful colors every day as they love more
profound than one s mind can fathom. For my second

Summary Of Nancy Mairs On Being A Cripple
Juney Ngan When undermined by an incurable disease, it s difficult to think positively. Especially
with multiple sclerosis, where life adjustments including changes to communication, daily routines,
even basic bodily functions are necessary, it s likely to approach situations hopelessly. However,
essayist Nancy Mairs provides her own detailed anecdote on accepting these lifelong impairments. In
her essay, On Being a Cripple, Mairs develops her attitude toward her condition through multiple
accounts of asyndetons, figurative language, and her personal experience. Through her careful use of
asyndetons, Mairs makes it evident that multiple sclerosis has taken a lot away from her. Detailing her
life before her diagnosis, Nancy Mairs lists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She recalls the beginning stages of the condition, when she started to trip and drop things (p2). It was
new to her, considering that tripping and dropping things isn t exactly normal on a regular basis.
Doing so didn t necessarily make it easier to continue all her everyday activities, either. Rather than
resting herself, Mairs mentions how she spends a lot of time in extremis and, impatient with
limitation, I tend to ignore my fatigue until my body breaks down in some way and forces rest (p5).
She lists what she is forced to endure everyday, aware that the common man doesn t have to put up
with what she suffers. Despite the burden the disease has placed on her, Mairs still considers herself
lucky so far. My world has, of necessity, been circumscribed by my losses, but the terrain left me has
been ample enough for me to continue many of the activities that absorb me (p4). She suggests that
things are still looking up for her; instead of dwelling on what she isn t able to do anymore, Mairs
demonstrates that she still looks forward to other specialties. Recognizing that it s a lifelong strain, she
shows persistence and willingness to adjust her lifestyle as the disease

Xinnan Li Professor Sharifian GOVT 2305 76427 July 28, 2017 Unit Two Assignment As a result of
the fourteenth amendment, more and more foreigners from the birth tourism to enter the United States.
1 An article called Born In The USA: 2 Why Chinese Birth Tourism 3 Is Booming In California said
that Ma is part of a growing wave of Chinese women who are flocking to the United States California,
in particular to have children who will grow up as American citizens (Sheehan). 2 From this article we
learned that in the United States we are most able to see the area of birth tourism is California. More
and more people come to California to have children, to give their children to have citizenship.
People in many countries have begun to through birth tourism to obtain citizenship for their children.

For me, I think that the fourteenth amendment should be revised to redefine the immigration status.
Birth tourism should not be a way of immigration. I think that parents must first become citizens, then
their children can count as citizens. Otherwise these parents will use their children s citizenship to stay
in the United States to obtain benefits. This is not good, which is parents are use their children to
obtain citizenship. 4 I think American citizenship should be harder to get. Everyone has an American
dream, but we should be work hard to get citizenship, rather than using the fourteen amendments
loopholes to get identity.

The Metropolitan Oper A Vibrant Home For The Most Creative
The Metropolitan Opera is a vibrant home for the most creative and talented singers, conductors,
composers, musicians, stage directors, designers, visual artists, choreographers, and dancers from
around the world (Annul Report 2009 2010). This nonprofit organization s mission is majorly,
according to its newest Form 990, to provide the performance of opera to public. As a nonprofit
institution, it defined its vision as sustaining, encouraging, and promoting musical art, and educating
the general public about music, particularly opera (Our Story, the Met). The Metropolitan Opera is the
world s largest independent performing arts organization and one of the oldest in the United States. Its
value is to always lead the innovation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For most opera organizations, ticket sales contributed around 40% of the operating budget. Over the
past fifteen years, main season attendance at opera performances fluctuated between 3 and 4 million,
compared to eight to eleven million for Broadway shows and 25 to 30 million for symphony
orchestras. Some opera managers speculated that audience exhaustion with repetitive repertoire had
contributed to a decline in attendance. Others attributed the lack of interest to poor awareness of
individual opera singers. (Gelb) The majority of fund operations came from government grant for
many arts organizations, but at the same time a much greater percentage of non ticket revenues,
roughly 41%, came from private contributions. It is still important for the business to attract more
individual customers. The whole industry needs innovation. Peter Gelb and his The Met Opera played
a role as the leader of this innovation. The new way of increasing revenue that was introduced by
Peter Gelb brings a new idea for this industry to keep alive in the 21st century with no doubt.
Internally, like other companies focus on human resources, to work with which singers is a top
question for opera organizations. Large scale opera productions typically worked frequently with
dozens of opera singers and musician. Becoming a professional opera singer required years of vocal
training as well as a mastery of languages and acting

Gender Relations During The Iranian Revolution
The subject of gender relations in Iran has been a contentious social issue and has become more
controversial since the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Mainstream news outlets such as CNN and BBC
have reported that the Islamization that followed the Islamic Republic has led to a reversal of women s
rights in Iran (Nia 2010; BBC 2009). The policies pursued by the Islamic Republic have, however,
facilitated education, mobilization, and participation for many women within the context of the
country (Gheissari 2009: 77). While the years following the Revolution served to restrict many
women in some respects, the policies enacted since the Islamic Republic have provided avenues of
empowerment for the most marginalized of women in Iran. The Iranian revolution mobilized the
women who now use these policies to seek greater rights within the framework of a conservative
Islamic society. The mobilization of women during the revolutionary process which gave rise to a
newfound sense of female agency and the unintentional widespread empowerment of women through
Islamization policies both contribute to the emergence of a contemporary women s movement in Iran.
Talal Asad asserts that, Islam as the object of anthropological understanding should be approached as
a discursive tradition that connects variously with the formation of moral selves, the manipulation of
populations (or resistance to it), and the production of appropriate knowledges (Asad 1986: 7). The
development of such a

  • 2. Jordan Dbq Essay Introduction: Fighting and finishing Israel is of most importance to maintain our position in the Arab world. The republic of Jordan after the six day war against Israel had lost a lot of territory including the west bank, which was a big chunk of land, which Jordan had. According to new testaments Jordan s King Hussein made it clear to Prime Minister Golda Meir that he must do so as to preserve his position in the Arab world, and asked Israel not to attack Jordan. Since Jordan was a part of the Arabic community of countries it had to make a decision to fight with them or to let this war pass. Jordan making the correct decision made a final decision and decided that they were not going to attack Israel because they came to a conclusion that if they did they would loose more land. When Syria went at war Jordan had no other choice but to send men to aid and help out his brother countries. But as soon as Jordan took the action of sending 500 men and artillery to Syria and Egypt but every time their men were going take some kind of action they would acted slowly and cautiously if they could. Jordan as a whole really did want to get into a war with Israel they just had to pretend they were so, so they would be still in the Arabic community. Argument Number One: The point ... • 4. Struggle Of Funding During The Nineteenth Century Essay Struggle of Funding In the early 17th century colonist was required to teach their children how to read the bible. During this period, the Puritans in Massachusetts enacted the Old Deluder Act, forcing communities of fifty families or more to establish funds, and operate schools. Many didn t follow the law because they were not privileged as the wealthy communities were; therefore, many poor children remained uneducated unless they were taught by their families. According to Bayer Sampat, (2016), the Land Ordinance of 1875, and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 were passed requiring areas to establish schools. Thomas Jefferson and Dr. Benjamin Rush spoke in favor of a public education system, unfortunately it wasn t established until the nineteenth century. Moving forward, the United States public schools funding comes from the state, the federal government, and local communities. The appropriation of these funds varies according to several factors; however, the federal government only gives a fraction of these funds compared to the local and state governments. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in the United States, about 93% is funded via the state and local governments (Bayer Sampat, 2016). As world economy changes defining and reshaping educational policies, goals were set to make global organizations efficient by decreasing spending to promote cost effectiveness and encouraging establishments to do better with less. The primary issue to address was the institution of slavery, which was causing much dissension between the north and the south. Additional items to be addressed were territory issues and to prevent secession by the south. Henry Clay stepped forward to present a compromise, which had Congress in an eight month discussion known as the Great Debate . As a result of the proposal, there were strong oppositions. Comparatively, Calhoun and Webster both saw the union was in danger of falling apart, they also both believed the issues of slavery between the north and the south was the major cause. Where they disagreed was on the future state of slavery. Calhoun saw the compromise as a betrayal of the south; he sought to have the northerners agree to the protection of slavery in the south so the south would remain in the union. Calhoun knew slavery pre existed and believed it must continue to exist. Webster was more of a pacifist, he pleaded with the northerners to accept demands of the south in order to save the union, even though he did not accept the fact slavery needed to continue. Webster deeply believed that preservation of the union was more important than any other issue. In addition, William Henry Seward also opposed the proposed compromise. Taking out seats and rows would make a decrease in financial profit and South West airlines wouldn t make as much money as they did before taking out the rows. So again the kid s activities are a best financial saving plan. This idea would have a positive effect and reflect on the firm as having happier kids and parents, also the person next to them. The imbalance is not in agriculture, although many food products both raw and processed enter the U.S. at prices below those for comparable U.S. grown foodstuffs. To a large degree the imbalance is in manufactured goods. One reason is that many nations have lower costs of production based upon a lower standard of living, cheap labor, inexpensive raw materials, protective government policy, etc. Multinationals who have moved their plants to foreign locations enjoy the best of both worlds inexpensive manufacturing costs and unlimited access to the world s biggest consumer market, the USA. The foreign entity received a like amount of American goods or services. The trade books are balanced. All monies earned interest every step of the way. The U.S. didn t allow inexpensive foreign goods to displace American goods on price alone. It made the foreign goods compete on a quality basis with American goods. American consumers will make the choice of which is better at a comparable price. If the foreign goods are really superior to the American goods, then the foreign manufacturer will have earned an increased share of the world market and the U.S. manufacturer or ag producer will have to get more competitive or go out of business. The reverse is also true so the free market and the law of supply and demand still gets a chance to work, but it works on the basis of quality and value, not upon inherent differences in world standards of living. • 12. The Dark Knight Analysis The Dark Knight is a superhero movie and is part of a sequel. It comes second after Batman Begins. It is a fantastic movie directed by Christopher Nolan. The main Theme of this movie is Faith. The plot and Characters develop this theme in a few ways. When the film opens up we have a bank robbery scene in the city of gotham and we encounter the joker, our antagonist. Because of this we see a chain of crimes happening around the city and the people of Gotham turn their faith toward the Batman. This is the basic plot of the film where the protagonists are trying to restore people s faith back into the city and the police force. The characters develop this theme by carrying out the plot of the film and helping restore faith back into the city. The visual design plays a big role in developing the film s theme. A majority of the time the films color is dark and the colors palate that is used is to the darker side. The setting of this movie is determiner of character because it takes place in a setting that Batman doesn t have too much control over and he is working to protect that and survive in that place. We also see a setting for sheer visual impact at times such as when we see a deep focus camera shot of the entire city and see how much chaos is going on and what the protagonists are trying to do to restore faith back into the city. The functions of the setting in this film also have symbolic significance to the theme and it impacts it very much. We mostly see this in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Working Memory Model The working memory model was proposed by Baddeley and Hitch in 1974 as an alternative to Atkinson Shiffrin s multi store model of memory. They argued that the short term memory was not a passive, temporary store used to transfer information to the long term memory. Instead, they suggested that it should instead be regarded as an active store which holds information as it is being worked on. It is described by Cohen (1990) as the focus of consciousness , holding the information that is being thought about currently. The model has four components: the central executive, the phonological loop, the visuo spatial sketchpad, and the episodic buffer. The central executive is the key, supervisory component of working memory, directing the subsidiary systems. Therefore, it is relevant to both traditional STM tasks and activities such as verbal reasoning, comprehension, and mental arithmetic. An advantage of the working memory model is that it explains certain neurological results in a way that the multi store model cannot. The model explains these results. An impaired phonological loop can account for the verbal impairment, and the fact that his memory for visual information works well can be explained by an intact visuo spatial sketchpad. A disadvantage of the working memory model is that, although it is a major improvement on the multi store model, it is oversimplified. • 14. Essay On Sociology Is The Father Of Sociology Sociology 1. What is the science of sociology? Sociology is defined as a systematic arrangement of knowledge that indicates operations in consideration to the general laws. In a general approach, sociology is defined briefly as the study of how human interact in their daily social life. The word sociology is developed from two main other words socio and logos . The meaning of socio is society and the meaning of logos is science. That means sociology is the science used to study human social life. In addition to this sociology is not concerned with only the social interaction but also the daily social changes. Different approaches have been developed for the study and examination of sociology but never has there been an acceptable concept to this study. The reason is that sociology involves a study of human lives and the behaviors and therefore, it is a very complicated topic to study. Sociology is composed by various sociological theories which in many cases they contradict each other leading to a lot of issues about this topic (Horowitz, 2017). Or is the poet saying that the young man now is aware of the poet s imminent demise, and this knowledge makes the young man s love for the poet stronger because he might soon loose him? What must the young man give up before long his youth or his friend? The answer could lie in the interpretation of both the young man s and the poet s character in other sonnets. ***** Sonnets 71 74 are typically analyzed as a group, linked by the poet s thoughts of his own mortality. However, Sonnet 73 contains many of the themes common throughout the entire body of sonnets, including the ravages of time on one s physical well being and the mental anguish associated with moving further from youth and closer to death. Time s destruction of great monuments juxtaposed with the effects of age on human beings is a convention seen before, most notably in Sonnet 55. The poet is preparing his young friend, not for the approaching literal death of his body, but the metaphorical death of his youth and passion. The poet s deep insecurities swell irrepressibly as he concludes that the young man is now focused only on the signs of his aging as the poet surely is himself. This is illustrated by the linear development of the three quatrains. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This forms many of our traditional views of the nature of The Revolution. The view is also entangled with Soviet historical development; many of the preliminary analyses were conducted by the Bolshevik revolutionaries themselves and, as such, they are highly political and driven by the need to establish the legitimacy of the Bolshevik regime. • 20. Analysis Of The Movie The Englishman s Boy The film The Englishman s boy is a screen adaptation of Guy Vanderhaeghe s book of the same name. Vanderhaeghe also wrote the screenplay for the film. The book was based on the true story of the Cypress Hills massacre in 1873. I will provide a summary of the film s most important plot points, characters and background information. The movie covers the horrors that were witnessed in Cypress Hills and shows the inhumane way Native Americans have been treated since colonization, in 1873 and through to the 1920s. The movie explains how white men were hearkened as heroes for committing these atrocities which were largely excused because society at that time viewed natives as inhuman and therefore undeserving of human rights. The film was set with a background in both 1873 pioneer plains and 1920s Hollywood. This method was used to show a dualism within the two eras and that negative attitudes towards Native Americans had not been corrected as they should have been but only muffled. I will compare the film and its accuracy to the actual Cypress Hills massacre and determine what dramatics were used to make a point within the direction of the movie. This film and the subsequent essay is relevant to this class because I believe that even though the crimes committed against native Americans are less obviously racist, violent and vulgar today, there is still a derogatory indifference towards them and their cries for equality. They receive uniforms, and new Christian names, thus stripping them of their identities. Unfortunately, this is how most Indian children received an introduction to boarding school. • 25. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Chlorine Since chlorine production is corrosive in nature, the anode (chorine is formed) is made using a metal which is non reactive in nature such as titanium, on the other hand cathode (hydroxide ions are formed) is made from a metal which can be easily oxidized such as nickel. In membrane cell, an ion permeable membrane separates cathode and anode. Saturated brine is sent to the compartment with cathode (the anolyte). DC current is passed and the NaCl is broken into its constituent components with the help of this DC current. The membrane sends Na+ ions to anode compartment which is the catholyte, where it forms sodium hydroxide in solution. Only positive ions are allowed to pass through the membrane in order to prevent mixing of NaOH and HCl. The chloride ions are oxidized to form chlorine in gaseous form and it occurs at anode, which is collected, purified and stored. The brine ion exchange system should be located downstream of any mercury removal system, not upstream. Mercury is removed from the brine by the IER8 630 resin, but it is not stripped from the resin during regeneration. Descartes Meditations Ontological Argument Essay Descartes Meditations Ontological Argument Descartes s fifth Meditation argument for God s existence relies on an untenable notion that existence is a perfection and that it can be predicated of God. I shall first explain what Descartes s argument for God s existence is, and then present his argument in propositional form. I will then attempt to support the argument that existence is neither a perfection nor a predicate of God. In our thoughts we apprehend ideas of things. These ideas may reside entirely within our thoughts or they may exist independent of our considerations of them (Descartes 143). Descartes argues that the idea of God is that He is infinite substance [eternal, immutable], independent, all knowing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Existence, therefore, should more properly be thought of as a prerequisite for perfection and not a perfection in and of itself. Descartes disagrees however, and in his reply to Gassendi he argues that existence is necessarily predicated of God because existence is a part of the true essence of any perfect being (Plantinga 49). For Descartes, it is not possible for us to possess the idea of a most perfect being if this being lacks the most important characteristic of existence. If God did not exist then He would not be the most perfect being, but we clearly have the idea of the most perfect being so therefore He must exist. The problem with this notion, however, is that Descartes begs the question by building into premise (2) the concept of a perfect being which has yet to be demonstrated. In order to demonstrate God s existence, Descartes should not assume, or presuppose, that which he is attempting to conclude. But by predicating the existence of God in (2) he has already concluded that which is later restated in the conclusion. In effect, the follower of Descartes s argument is tricked, for if he or she agrees with the foundational premises for the sake of the argument (that existence is predicated of a most perfect being), then there is no choice left but to conclude that God exists. Further, predicating the existence of a most perfect being based upon the attributes that this being is believed to possess fails to provide existence to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The competing style is used when people trying to achieve a goal or accomplish something. It is used during arguments, such as when you are arguing against somebody else to prove a point. The avoiding style is used when a person shows little interest in the other party they are communicating with. This is used when often when interacting with a person you identify as an unimportant stranger, such as when you bump into a stranger in a crowd and apologize. The compromising style is used when a person cares about who they are interacting with and care about their objectives / goals. An example of this would be scheduling with a friend over when to meet up to do something since you care about their opinion and are willing to try to compromise. The accommodating stance is used when you care more about the other party s goals more than your own (in many cases). An example of this would be if your boss asked you to work overtime and even though you didn t want to you agreed to do it. The collaborating stance is used when both parties plan to accomplish their goals fully (unlike compromising where the goals cannot be fully met) and to improve the relationship between them. Ideally, the more income a person has, the more freedom and power this person is able to exercise. However, business moguls and government have been known to exploit this fundamental feature of market economy and use it to their advantage by harboring money (power). But before I put on my tin foil hat and start spewing on about the government, allow me to ask this question: Where does this system come from? I believe in order understand the oppressive issues of this system, it s crucial to understand the conditions that formulated it. It s safe to say that American government is a descendent of English government. The colonies along the east coast of North America were settled by mostly English settlers in the 17th and 18th centuries. As the English travelled across the Atlantic Ocean, they not only extended the rule of the English monarchy but also transported their cultural heritage as well. Subsequently, the colonists revolted against English monarch, King George III, during the American Revolutionary War in the late 18th century. Simply put, colonists felt devalued and exploited by the English ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Reflection Essay On Observation To obtain knowledge, one must study; but to receive wisdom, one must observe. Observation, often defined as the action or process of watching something or someone to gain information. Throughout the semester, students within the education department had the genuine opportunity to both learn and grow as future educators through observations outside of the classroom. Throughout the semester, I chose to observe at the following programs: Breakaway at Westridge Church, Poole Elementary School s Learning Bridge, and AWANA at Callie Harbin Baptist Church. As a future educator, I learned that often observation is education as education and learning are so much more than a textbook. For my first observation, I chose to observe at a respite event known as Breakaway at Westridge Church located in Dallas Georgia. Breakaway is a cost free respite event for both special needs participants and their families. This function allows individuals of all ages to enjoy supervised entertainment and activities planned precisely for them. Breakaway, Outdoor Extravaganza, an event consisting of carnival clowns, games, outdoor inflatables, corn hole, hayrides, arts, crafts, face painting, petting zoo, music, and so much more. Through this observation, I had the genuine opportunity to view life from different perspectives as special needs individuals enjoyed a day prepared explicitly for them. For example, I had the opportunity to share such a joyous day with an individual who holds my heart captive. I sat back and watched as he rode the hayride with his volunteer; consequently, my heart filled with joy as he laughed the whole way through. Once the hayride came to a close, he and his volunteer traveled to visit the fire trucks and see all of its bells and whistles as he had the chance to climb inside. In addition to all the excellent outdoor activities, each child had a chance to hang out, listen to music, see ballet dancers perform, and hear the word of God brought forth through interactive Bible stories. This experience overjoyed my heart as I saw firsthand that children with special needs paint the world with beautiful colors every day as they love more profound than one s mind can fathom. • 43. Summary Of Nancy Mairs On Being A Cripple Juney Ngan When undermined by an incurable disease, it s difficult to think positively. Especially with multiple sclerosis, where life adjustments including changes to communication, daily routines, even basic bodily functions are necessary, it s likely to approach situations hopelessly. However, essayist Nancy Mairs provides her own detailed anecdote on accepting these lifelong impairments. In her essay, On Being a Cripple, Mairs develops her attitude toward her condition through multiple accounts of asyndetons, figurative language, and her personal experience. Through her careful use of asyndetons, Mairs makes it evident that multiple sclerosis has taken a lot away from her. Detailing her life before her diagnosis, Nancy Mairs lists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She recalls the beginning stages of the condition, when she started to trip and drop things (p2). It was new to her, considering that tripping and dropping things isn t exactly normal on a regular basis. Doing so didn t necessarily make it easier to continue all her everyday activities, either. Rather than resting herself, Mairs mentions how she spends a lot of time in extremis and, impatient with limitation, I tend to ignore my fatigue until my body breaks down in some way and forces rest (p5). She lists what she is forced to endure everyday, aware that the common man doesn t have to put up with what she suffers. Despite the burden the disease has placed on her, Mairs still considers herself lucky so far. My world has, of necessity, been circumscribed by my losses, but the terrain left me has been ample enough for me to continue many of the activities that absorb me (p4). She suggests that things are still looking up for her; instead of dwelling on what she isn t able to do anymore, Mairs demonstrates that she still looks forward to other specialties. Recognizing that it s a lifelong strain, she shows persistence and willingness to adjust her lifestyle as the disease ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For me, I think that the fourteenth amendment should be revised to redefine the immigration status. Birth tourism should not be a way of immigration. I think that parents must first become citizens, then their children can count as citizens. Otherwise these parents will use their children s citizenship to stay in the United States to obtain benefits. This is not good, which is parents are use their children to obtain citizenship. 4 I think American citizenship should be harder to get. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For most opera organizations, ticket sales contributed around 40% of the operating budget. Over the past fifteen years, main season attendance at opera performances fluctuated between 3 and 4 million, compared to eight to eleven million for Broadway shows and 25 to 30 million for symphony orchestras. Some opera managers speculated that audience exhaustion with repetitive repertoire had contributed to a decline in attendance. Others attributed the lack of interest to poor awareness of individual opera singers. (Gelb) The majority of fund operations came from government grant for many arts organizations, but at the same time a much greater percentage of non ticket revenues, roughly 41%, came from private contributions. It is still important for the business to attract more individual customers. The whole industry needs innovation. Peter Gelb and his The Met Opera played a role as the leader of this innovation. • 46. Gender Relations During The Iranian Revolution The subject of gender relations in Iran has been a contentious social issue and has become more controversial since the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Mainstream news outlets such as CNN and BBC have reported that the Islamization that followed the Islamic Republic has led to a reversal of women s rights in Iran (Nia 2010; BBC 2009). The policies pursued by the Islamic Republic have, however, facilitated education, mobilization, and participation for many women within the context of the country (Gheissari 2009: 77). While the years following the Revolution served to restrict many women in some respects, the policies enacted since the Islamic Republic have provided avenues of empowerment for the most marginalized of women in Iran. The Iranian revolution mobilized the women who now use these policies to seek greater rights within the framework of a conservative Islamic society. The mobilization of women during the revolutionary process which gave rise to a newfound sense of female agency and the unintentional widespread empowerment of women through Islamization policies both contribute to the emergence of a contemporary women s movement in Iran. Talal Asad asserts that, Islam as the object of anthropological understanding should be approached as a discursive tradition that connects variously with the formation of moral selves, the manipulation of populations (or resistance to it), and the production of appropriate knowledges (Asad 1986: 7).
