Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDA)
Mainstreaming Students with Autism
Students with disabilities in the United States won the right to receive an appropriate education in
the least restrictive environment in 1975, with the passage of the Education for All Handicapped
Children Act (P.L. 94 142), now known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education
Improvement Act (IDEA, 2004) (Kurth, p. 249, Marshall, Goodall, 2015). Prior to 1975, millions
of children with disabilities were simply excluded from school...With P.L. 94 192, states were held
accountable for providing an appropriate education in the least restrictive environment to all
students for the first time. Autism, as defined by Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
(IDEA), refers to a developmental disability significantly affecting verbal and nonverbal
communication and social interaction, generally evident before age three, that adversely affects a
child s educational performance (IDEA.ed.gov). Some characteristics include social interaction
difficulties, communication challenges and a tendency to engage in repetitive behaviors.
However, symptoms and their severity vary widely across these three core areas (Heward, chapter

Domestic Violence (Information Strangulation) Bill 2013...
Domestic violence is defined as acts of violence or threats of violence that usually occur in the
family home. It is commonly assumed that the main perpetrator of domestic violence are men
against women and hence the slogan Stop Violence against women .
The reluctance to report domestic violence may have been due to religious, ethic or homosexual
backgrounds.
Fear of revenge or further violence from the perpetrator towards them or family.
Feelings of shame or embarrassment.
A belief that the incident was too trivial or unimportant.
There are many reasons and theories why domestic violence exists for e.g. the dominant control or
power over another human being, stress, family dysfunction, substance abuse, poor self esteem,

Cirrhosis of the Liver
Cirrhosis of the Liver
Cirrhosis of the Liver: Causes, Detection and Prevention
University of Phoenix Online Campus
Cirrhosis of the Liver is a horrible disease that takes the lives of many people every year. There are
many causes, symptoms, ways to diagnose and treatments that surround this disease as well as
many ways that this fatal disease can be prevented.
The liver is a key organ when it comes to making the body function properly (National Digestive
Diseases Information Clearinghouse, 2003). As the second largest organ the body has, next to the
skin, it serves many purposes. It produces immune agents to control infections, removes germs,
bacteria and poisons from the blood, and it makes proteins that produce bile and keep ... Show more

Symptoms may differ depending on the stage of the disease but some common symptoms are loss
of appetite, fatigue, weight loss or gain, jaundice, retaining of fluid, blood in the stool or fever
(Digestive Disorders Health Center Cirrhosis of the Liver, 2008). There are other symptoms of
Cirrhosis of the Liver but these are the most common. All of these symptoms help in the
detection of this horrible disease. The faster Cirrhosis is detected, the better off the person s
chances of survival are. However, there is no cure for Cirrhosis of the Liver and depending on the
cause of the disease, some treatments can slow down the progression and minimize damage to
liver cells, (Digestive Disorders Health Center Cirrhosis of the Liver, 2008).
Cirrhosis of the Liver can be detected in a few ways. One way is testing. A physical exam, blood
tests and some other tests can help doctor s detect and diagnose this disease (Digestive Disorders
Health Center Cirrhosis of the Liver, 2008). In a physical exam a doctor can feel any changes in the
shape of the liver, how it feels and how large it is (Digestive Disorders Health Center Cirrhosis of
the Liver, 2008). Blood tests can prove whether or not a person has Cirrhosis of the Liver. Other
tests include taking pictures of the liver (CT Scan) or an ultrasound (Digestive Disorders Health
Center Cirrhosis of the Liver, 2008). Other ways that it can be detected are by a biopsy or

Aaron Beck s Theory Of Depression
CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
Different studies showed that adolescents do not sleep adequately and inadequate sleep is usually
related with greater risk for depression, furthermore studies usually get urban adolescents as their
sample and scarcity of research in rural adolescents (Daly, 2015).
Sleep disturbance is the great cause for depression, functional impairment, falls, poor quality of life,
and poor health (Martin, 2010). Furthermore according to the American Psychiatric Association
(2013), sleep disorders usually come along with depression, anxiety and cognitive changes. One of
the major causes of the problem of disease in the world is depression (Lee et al., 2014). Depression
is a kind of feeling where one is overwhelmed by feelings of ... Show more content on

This theory was developed by Aaron Beck in 1967. The said theory is a diathesis stress model
associated to predisposing factors, the factors that cause people to become hopeless or vulnerable
when depressed, precipitating factors, the events that cause people vulnerability, and perpetuating
factors, the factors that maintain and cause of return of the depression (Grant et al., 2010).
According to Beck negative dysfunctional attitudes could be the cause of cognitive triad which is
thinking in a way of seeing the self, the world and the future negatively (Possel Black, 2013). Beck
(1967) said that people who are depressed perceive the world with many hindrances and this person
communicates with the environment negatively.
Esbensen and associates (2007) reported that people who are depressed limit their rational and
obvious explanations and automatically perceive situations negatively. And also Brewin (1998)
stated that existence of depressing thoughts affects individual s ability to process information
consciously that could cause symptoms for depression namely, sleep disturbance, delusions,
cognitive and motor slowing and lack of

Software Optimization Methods Of Changing A Software System
HW 4
Software Optimization Techniques
Software optimization is process of changing a software system to enable some aspect of the
process to work more efficiently using less memory storage and less power.
Profiling and timing code execution:
We need to identify portions of code that run frequently which are called hotspots and make these
identified hotspots run faster.
In Profiling the first step is to understand the code in terms of its computations and requests.
Next we need to identify any bottlenecks that may disrupt the performance.
Third we need to set objectives.
Finally we need to improve the performance cycles.
Using platform specific features:
We need to keep in mind the cache coherency, pipelining and branch guessing and side... Show

More the requirements implies slower network solution.
In order to do this we need to consolidate the CSS and the JS files, Embedding CSS images into
CSS which reduces extra space, load images only as they scroll into our view.
Next we need to reduce the bytes which also leads to slower network solutions.
For this we need to enable zip compressions, compress images fully and resizing the images as per
the screen size.
Slower javascript leads to weaker CPU:
For this we need to make sure that javaScript is async to the page load.
Asynch avoids delay.
We need to also remove the unused codes.
Numerical methods:
Linear programming:
The objective function is a real valued function which is defined on a polyhedron. Main function is
finding a point in the polyhedron that has the smallest or the largest values if and when a point like
that exists.
Quadratic programming:
QP is minimizing/maximizing a quadratic function which consists of variables that are subject to
LC on these very variables.
Stochastic programming:
This is mainly used for modeling problems that have uncertainity. Almost all of the Real world
problems include unknown parameters(atlleast few).
Advanced optimization:
Hill climbing:
Hill climbing is used for reaching the end state from the first (start) node. Decision of the next
nodes from the starting nodes, can be done by various algorithms.
There are two variants of hill climbing which are simple hill climbing

Gwendolyn Brooks Guilt, Blame, Mourning, And Regret
Introduction Gwendolyn Brooks was born in 1917 in Topeka, Kansas, and moved to Chicago at
a young age. She attended a junior college in Chicago, then started working for the NAACP, all
before publishing A Street in Booneville , her first book of poems, in 1945. The Mother (her most
famous poem) was also published in 1945. In 1950, Gwendolyn Brooks was the first African

Moral Dilemmas In Remember The Titans
Good morning Mr Harrop and fellow peers. Today I will be analysing the moral issues and moral
dilemmas in non literary texts, so that we can understand and evaluate how test structures, language
and visual features can be used to influence an audience response. An exemplar of many moral and
ethical dilemmas is shown through popular sport inspiring movie, Remember The Titans (Yakin,
2000) directed by Boaz Yakin. Yakins has a gift for dealing with controversial human issues, by
facing the characters with racism, peer pressure and selfishness. Alongside the writer Gregory Allen
Howard, they have utilized textual structures, language features and visual features to influence the
audience s response. Remember The Titans follows the problem... Show more content on

He seems to want the audience to respond with shock and sympathy as they witness how vile
the black people are treated. One of the few racism dilemma s is shown after Gerry, Alan and
Ray are returned to the high school after coach Yoast stops them from joining the city riots.
Infuriated with the black people fighting back, Gerry instigates the racism and discrimination,
snarling, Hell why don t you just kick em all off the team. I don t wanna play with any of them
black animals. This scene was very effective and coincided with the use of close up camera shots
to enhance Gerry s emotions, whilst reinforcing Yakin s message that black people were treated
poorly and erratically. After Gerry s disastrous car accident, Coach Boone is faced with the moral
dilemma of selfishness. Boone has always been a coach who strives to win, not only for himself,
but for the team, however after the accident, he lacks empathy for the boys and thinks more about
what he wants. When he suggests that the team incorporate more training to cope with the changes
so that they can win, Yoast feels that Boone is being selfish and lacking consideration of the team
s loss, so confronts him with the questions Is this even about football anymore? Or is it just about
you? To express his reaction to being described as selfish, the

Olive Compare And Contrast
I watched the Olive, the Other Reindeer film adaptation and I noticed some differences between
the movie and the storybook. I chose to compare the scene where Olive is wrapping Christmas
presents and hears All of the other reindeer on the radio. In the book, the scene shows Olive
wrapping Christmas presents and listening to Christmasmusic. She hears Rudolph the Red Nosed
Reindeer play, and listens to the lyric All of the other reindeer, but she thinks that it is saying
Olive, the other reindeer, meaning that she is a reindeer. Hearing this makes her think that she is a
reindeer and needs to report to duty to help Santa Claus. However, in the movie, the scene shows

Santa says maybe somehow we ll make due with all of the other reindeer. Fido hears Santa say
this, but he thinks that Santa says Olive, the other reindeer, indicating that Olive is the other
reindeer that will help him. Olive believes Fido and decides to trek to The North Pole to save
Christmas. The difference between the two is that in the book, Olive hears all of the reindeer
and thinks they are referring to her, and in the movie Olive s friend, Fido, hears all of the other
reindeer and thinks Santa is referring to her. Another difference between the two is that the
book does not have Fido in it. I think the only reason for this is because with a movie, the writer
is able to incorporate a lot more detail into the storyline because the movie is longer. Along with
differences, I also found similarities between the movie and the book. Both the pictures for the
movie and for the book are created by J. Otto Seibold, indicating that the movie is also created
with animated characters. In both the film and the book, Olive is drawn as a cute Jack Russell
Terrier with lots of colorful surroundings near her, such as Santa s workshop and his

Dido s Farewell
The poem, Dido s Farewell by Lina Pastan, dramatizes the conflict between Dido and her
depression after Aeneas leaves Carthage. The character Dido is the ancient Phoenician queen who
founded Carthage but killed herself after the love of her life, Aeneas, left her to follow his destiny
as the founder of Rome. The author presents the conflict by speaking metaphorically as Dido, using
her as an outlet, which is evident throughout the poem as the author uses the first person
perspective but with modern contraptions. The author starts by speaking about how the rain is
chronic at [her] window (1 2), painting the image that her sadness, which is typically presented by
rain, is persistent. Continuing, the author speaks about how the candles in Dido s room are
[drowning] in their own wax. This implies the candles have been in use for a prolonged amount of
time, which would mean that Dido hasn t left the room during that time. This personification of the
candles represents how she is drowning in her own tears and sadness such as the candles are
drowning in their own wax.
The next sentence, Abandoned by light, even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here the author continues about how Dido feels awkward in her own home, a nomad in [her]
own house (16 17). This is a paradox, a self contradictory statement that is seemingly absurd. The
author states that she is a nomad, who, by definition, is someone with no fixed home. This
contradicts itself because Dido is a nomad in [her] own house, (16 17) someone with a fixed
home is saying that they are someone without a fixed home. Line eighteen shows that her heart
[is] knocking, (18) and later on it is knocking to be let out. Here perhaps, the author is trying to
say that Dido isn t comfortable in her own skin and mind. Literally, she is saying nomad in my
own house, (16 17) as in the architectural house, but metaphorically she is saying that she is not
comfortable in her own

How Technology Has Changed The Development Of Today s...
Modern technology has shaped the way in which society is evolving. The rising popularity of cell
phones containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur
filmmaking among society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the
success of mobile devices and amateur film. Technologyis not just shaping culture; modern film and
internet culture is shaping the development of today s society.
Globally, the self concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell
phone use for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social
media usage. Social media usage branching from camera phone universality has become a
significant factor in the purpose behind amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind
sharing a homemade video online. Amateur filmmakers may post out of spite but many share
their videos to the public merely based on the concept of views. Paumgarten states a perfect
instrument for the look at me age. Its charm lies perhaps in its sublimated conveyance of self, its
sneaky tolerable narcissism. (333) This quote exhibits an example of how technology used for
amateur filmmaking is a resource in the projection of self during an age where we strive to be
acknowledged. This claim assists in highlighting the idea presented that modern technology is
affecting the sense of self of one who searches for validation while also creating a form of
narcissism, both

dozens of large companies that produce or fund films that are displayed over the television. a.
One example is Disney, which has created dozens of films that we all continue to enjoy. b. New
stations also do well because of television, for years people have relied on news stations such as
Fox and ABC and their broadcast to provide them with current events from around the world. 2.
Other companies that produce televisions, such as Philips, have grown into major industries that
have learned from Farnsworth s design to evolve the television to what we have today.
Conclusion:
Transition: That is how the father of television has effect each of us and what he did to earn that

The Federalism Of The United States
Americans utilize the Federalism idea as putting into effect the Constitution for Federal, State, and
Local governments. These areas are served as different areas with different needs and goals within
the federalist theory. The National Government has expressed powers over the nation and subjects
that effect our nation. The State has limited powers that are involved within the State s boundaries.
The local government is expressed to help regulate the states. All together the governments make
one unitary system that can metaphorically be described as a cake. The breakup of federalism
started out being broken up in layers, like a layer cake, with distinct separated powers of National
government and State. Accordingly, as the New Federalism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The arguments resembled that the Federalist held the upper hand since they were wealthy
landowners to take charge of the democracy. Conversely, Antifederalist were afraid to give into
signing the constitution in favor of the Federalist ideas because they felt it would grant too much
power to the National Government instead of the States. The dispute between the Federalist and
Antifederalist lead to, what is known today, as a breakthrough of famous Federalist Papers that
lead to the greater understanding of the Constitution. The Federalist Papers appeared as persuasive
writings developed by what we know today as historical figures that make up the founding fathers
of the ratification of the Constitution. The writings of the Federalist argued that they held the
privilege to secure the government to favor the economy. The Federalist wrote to convince the
public in the newspapers that their views and actions would create a perfect balance and protect
the Nation s people. On the other hand, Anti Federalist opposed ratification of the Constitution in
favor of the federalist ideas. The Antifederalist persuaded that the Federalist would favor slavery,
and people s rights would be in danger. The two groups feuding created an important factor in the
U.S. Constitution. Like so, the Federalist considered the Antifederalist ideas and managed to
compromise a Bill of Rights to be added to the Constitution in favor of absolute security to people s

Time in Artist s Work
Andy Warhol once wrote a poem about time. About Time. From time to time. Do time. Time
yourself. Weekends. In time. In no time. In good time. Between time. Time and again. Lifetime.
Time worn. Pass time. Mark time. Buy time. Keep time. On time. In time. Time off. Time out. Time
in. Time card. Time lapse. Timezone. The beforetime. The meantime. The aftertime. The All time.
В№ However different the actions of these phrases may imply, they are all congruent under one
conceptual factor: time. The measurement of existence is based on the past, present and future. The
residue of existence is art. Art is a product of time. Deliberate or not, time in artists work play a role
in the making through process, narration, materials and motion.
Art is a process. One must move freely from idea, to research/exploration, to construct in order to
become fully immersed in the act of making. Even in the construction of a piece the elements go
through a series of actions, changes and functions bringing about a result. ВІ This all develops over
time. There are artists whose work directly comments on process and becomes part of the meaning.
Sol LeWitt s conceptual works by instruction and Chuck Close s photogravure production
exemplify process. Sol LeWitt s drawings derive from a set of specific instructions, which are
executed often by others than himself. The work changes each time it is explored depending upon
the hand that is drawing. The parameters of the instructions guide the participant

Erechteinon On The Acropolis In Athens

Mnesicles might be an architect of the structure, Phidias was employed as a sculptor. The building
had a religious function, and was meant to serve as a home for Athena (goddess of war and
wisdom) and Poseidon (god of sea, storm, earthquake, horses). There is also a belief that it was

Changing Demographics Of The American Male
For the hindered American male, frustВrated with the changing demographics of the nation and
grasped by the conviction that his days on top are arriving at an end, there might be no type of
pornoВgraphy more fulfilling than watching a bundle of hard drinking, bar singing soccer fans

Singing men in red development after singing men in blue. When they meet in the focal point of
the edge, red pushes blue, fingers are pointed and after that, unavoidably, a green brew bottle

In 1995 the department decided that it needed a Crime Prevention Unit and I was selected to design

Based on the success I had in the Crime Prevention Unit, I was asked to create a Crime Analysis

of these assignments, I worked as an individual and answered to a supervisor, who was uninvolved

The problem with this was that I learned to depend on no one and developed patterns that

Unfortunately, in many cases, people are at risk to live with heart complications for the rest of their
lives. Lastly, another important effect of smoking is the risk of getting emphysema. This deadly
disease also affects lungs and whole respiratory system.
These several reasons should prove to the smokers that this habit puts their health in danger, and
causes many diseases that lead to death.
Unborn babies who have mothers who smoke are more likely to die of sudden infant death
syndrome (SIDS). The placenta joins the mother and the baby, which is where the baby gets
food and oxygen. When a mother smokes the placenta does not work as well as it should. The
babies are also more likely to be born early. Every time a woman smokes she is giving her child
less oxygen. It is very easy for a pregnant woman to stop smoking when the people around her do
not smoke. When a baby is born to a mother who smokes the baby will not grow well as it should.
Many experts agree that smoking is an unhealthy habit every one specially and for pregnant women
and can not only hurt the mother but really can have negative effect on the baby as well.
Because of smoking, smokers have high risks of addictions, diseases or risks in pregnancies.
Smokers prefer their habit, rather than caring about this terrible problem. They avoid

Economics and Business Communication
Economics and Business Communication 1.Four different levels of Regional Economic Integration
include a free trade area, customs union, common market, and unrestricted movement. Free trade
agreements involve no tariffs issued within a country, with tariffs issued onto a third country. In a
customs union, there are no internal tariffs but instead uniform, predetermined external tariffs. In a
common market, there is free movement of labor and resources, with no tariffs issued. Finally, an
economic union requires uniform currency and policies; this involves transactions between more
like minded countries. 2.There are three different types of foreign exchange risk: transaction
exposure, economic exposure, and translation exposure. Transaction exposure refers to the extent to
which transactions are liable to be affected by the exchange rate at a given moment. Because of the
constant fluctuations of the exchange rate, the profits garnered from a given transaction can be
greatly affected. Economic exposure refers to the tendency that a change in exchange rate can have
on a party s cash supply and earnings. This has similar consequences to those of transaction
exposure, except that it is not directly related to a specific transaction. Translation exposure relates
to the impact that changes in exchange rates can have on the financial statements of a country; they
differ from the other types of foreign exchange risk in that they have less relation to transactions.

Comparing Disney World And Universal Orlando Studios
There are a lot of theme parks in the world. Some are alike in many ways, and some may not
have anything in common. Theme parks may be world known and others may not be known to
many tourists. Two of the most common parks are in Florida: Disney World and Universal
Orlando Studios. Disney World is unique in a lot of ways. Disney World is made up of a total
of 27,258 acres. Just the resort in Disney is the same size as San Francisco. Disney is expensive,
however, it is for the most part less expensive than Universal Studios. When Disney first opened
its doors in 1971 the admission fee was less than $10. The founder of Disney World is the
founder of everything Disney Walter Elias Disney. Disney has roughly 62,000 employees in

The Challenge Of Cultural Relativism By James Rachels
In The Challenge of Cultural Relativism , James Rachels presents six claims that have been made
by cultural relativists. One of the six claims that Rachels presents in section 2.2 of the article is
that different societies have different moral codes. I believe that Rachels thinks this claim is true.
Section 2.1 of the article does a good job at explaining this idea. In this section, Rachels gives
several examples of the differences that can be found in moral codes of different people groups
throughout time. One of the specific examples he mentions is the different burial rituals of the
Greeks and the Callatians. The Greeks perform a ritual that includes burning the dead. The Callatian
ritual consists of eating the dead. The Greeks and Callatians, while encountering each other, both
stated that the other s ritual was inhumane. This disagreement, according to Cultural Relativism, is
okay and to be expected because the two moral codes come from two drastically different
societies. A modern example of this claim is that up until recently in China, small feet were
praised and larger feet were frowned upon for women. Radical efforts to prevent women s feet
from growing included foot binding. This method of prevention caused women to constantly be in
pain. Women s foot size in the United States isn t emphasized like the way it used to be in China.
Therefore, citizens of the United States believe that Chinese foot binding was a barbaric method,
while people in China would think

Women Should Not Fly Commercial Or Private
After starting flight lessons and seeking a pilots license one of the researchers became aware of
the ridicule and negative perceptions that women face in the field aviation. Chances are that when
you fly commercial or private that you will not be flying with a female pilot in command. Aviation
is a field that continues to be a males career with females making up only five percent of the
industry (Goyer, 2016). This particular area tends to focus on being a male s career choice and
lacking in the advancements for women. Different stereotypes, genderroles, and opinions are all
factors in determining a good pilot. Although women have proven their worth and ability,
prejudices such as women should not fly and a woman in the cockpit is one less in the kitchen are
still evident.
Given the importance of the topic at hand, it is necessary to better understand why negative ideas
exist. Although women have made advances in the field in the past, it has become stagnant within
the last decade. This study is to be done during a years length where researchers will interview
Certified Flight Instructors (CFI) with more than 200 flight time hours, Pilots in training (PIT) and
those of private and commercial license holders. This study will entail extensive interviews, and
incorporate flight simulation. Researchers will look at entry level pilots and compare it those upon
completing school.

The United States And The Middle East
Following World War II, the major international powers in the Middle East began to lose influence
over the area. In 1946, France and Great Britain were forced to withdrawal from their colonized
states by the United Nation Security Council when a delegation of the Middle Eastern countries
called for the removal the colonial mandates on Middle East, specifically in Palestine (Department
of Public Information). While Britain and France did not completely abandon their influence over
the area, the removal of their direct influence over the Middle East left an opening for the two new
superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union, to enter the scene. The two world powers
were in stark competition after World War II in an attempt to spread their political ideology. The
Middle East became a new battleground for the Cold Warafter the removal of France and Great
Britain. The two countries were drawn to the Middle East because of both their rivalry and their
own specific interests, but their actions had major regional repercussions on the area and the
relations between countries. The expression of the rivalry between the two countries came in three
forms: direct engagement, alliances, and military aid.
While the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union was the driving force behind the
two powers interests in the Middle East, both had their own specific agendas, which need to be

The Last Mohicans
The Last of the Mohicans Essay Everyone knows the famously old Arabic proverb, The enemy of
my enemy is my friend and how it demonstrates itself in various points throughout history. The
movie The Last Mohicans , which based of the bloody true event of the French and Indian War in
1757, is certainly no exception. The film portrays the interactions, as well as relationships between
the two Native American tribes, the French, and the English. In the beginning, there was no
separation of which tribe was which. Due to the lack of identification, there was no distinction of
tribes until the main Huron, Magua, led the British troop into a Huron ambush while escorting them

Despite having a somewhat uncertain alliance, the Natives treated the soldiers with respect, even
referring to commanders as their English Fathers . Frontiersmen, or colonists, also were also
honored, due to the tight bond they shared with the tribe in everyday life. In comparison to the
vengeful enemy, the small tribe acted on keeping the English colonists, as well as the military, safe
from the French and their ally. To counteract the quiet ambush style of the Hurons, many survival
techniques such as walking along a waterfall to mask the sound of movement were shown to the
few English to conceal their position. These procedures kept the few still standing English alive,
without the tops of their heads cut off (for the time being). Albeit most interactions were positive,
some were going against the unwritten alliance. Seeing many colonists houses decimated and the
inhabitants killed, it was understandable for the men to want to get back home and defend the
remaining frontier homes. However, the English commanders would not allow them to return
home to defend their own land, as previously promised. Seeing them so desperate and witnessing
the horrors of what the Hurons could do, the Mohicans decided to help the colonists escape from
the Fort, but for a price. Considered to now to be traitors, the English captains took them prisoner in
hand bindings, as if they had not saved them from certain death from French soldiers and Huron
tribesmen countless of times. Overall, the relationship was mostly beneficial for the English,
whereas the Mohicans only really prevented themselves from becoming prisoners of the king

Enoch Arden
Professor Beggs English 101 MW12 17 September 2009 Enoch Arden s Charity and Goodwill In
Alfred Tennyson s poem of skilled writing, Enoch Arden , Enoch leaves his family to better serve
them as a husband and father. The poem firmly establishes the perplexity of one s generous
personality. Enoch leaves his family to better the lives for each of them in a manner that reflects
a view of personal toil and hardship to support the family in economic downfall. Also in Enoch s

the thought of generosity and charitable goodwill toward the character. As we are now living in

Enoch repeats his wishes to her on his deathbed. As these examples can now be seen self

A Rhetorical Analysis Of V-J-Day Kiss
For more than half a century, millions of eyes, young and old, have viewed this inspiring photo.
After the end of World War II in 1945, two random strangers were photographed snogging it out
amongst high spirits of celebration. This famous photograph, V J Day Kiss has been one to
remember for so many years because the rhetorical elements such as the focus point of the photo,
black and white contrasts, and the body language, which all indicate that this photograph was taken
at an unprepared moment, help to add a symbolic reference that World War II has concluded.
V J Day Kiss uses the focus point of the photograph to symbolize the end of a treacherous war. As

The picture s absence of color denies the viewer pleasure of an overall picture of the celebratory
moment. When viewing the photo in color, a new perspective is built because color triggers
emotions such as yellow for happiness and blue for tranquility. Moreover, the original black and
white print of the photograph can be seen as dull compared to a colored version. The absence of
color accompanies a cold feel even though the photo is rather a celebratory moment. Even
though the loss of color is a con, a pro would be that the nurse s white dress atop the soldier s
dark uniform because it adds the sense of a center focus. Without the center focus, the key idea
of the photograph (kissing) would be lost. Along with the wardrobe, the color of the photo
indicates the era also. Black and white are typically viewed in pictures taken before colored
cameras appeared in technology so the viewer can assume that V J Day Kiss was one of those
photos.
Lastly, the body language of everyone in the photo can indicate that the picture was shot as an off
guard, or in simpler terms, an unprepared moment. The nurse being kissed has her arm in a weird
position seeming to add the element of surprise. Also the character s legs in the background are
blurry which can indicate that this photo was taken amidst a celebration. Blurred figures are the
support to the argument that this photo was taken at random rather than planned because
everywhere one may look at the picture, there is

Essay on Nicholas I
Nicholas I
Nicholas I has been portrayed, and perhaps rightfully so, as a strict and reactionary tsar. Indeed, his
internal policies were often repressive he sought to nip any liberalism in the bud, often brutally. His
approach to solving problems in the Empire and keeping control was to create the Nicholas system ,
a bureaucratic system defined by and completely based on absolute monarchy. Nicholas revamped
govermental structure by strengthening and centralizing bureaucratic structures to an
unprecedented degree. He did this as an attempt to deal with all of Russia s problems himself. At
most importantly the structure known as His Majesty s own Chancery, which was the nerve center
of the empire s administrative mechanisms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Furthermore, Russia experienced a cholera epidemic in 1830 1, a potential cause for disorder.
Nicholas retreated to his summer residence in Peterhof to avoid the plague. The populace was

How The Internet Has Become A Major Vehicle For Social...
Introduction
The Internet has become a major vehicle for social encounters in the last two decades. Through the
Internet, people can interact over greater distances in a shorter period and at less expense than in
the past. Since the evolution of the Internet, there is less face to face interaction and more
communication via text messages, emails, and online chatting. This social stigma is up for much
debate on how it relates to the progression in romantic relationships. This literature review focuses
on how the Internet is utilized as a supportive method of courting used by individuals to meet online
in hopes of forming a romantic relationship.
Counterarguments suggest that online communication expands social interaction because it
connects you to a plethora of people at a fast rate. The research of Cooper and Sportolari (1997)
was significantly useful because according to experts, the use of the Internet in romantic
relationships lowers the pressure of physical attributes, more freedom to meet someone new
regardless of gender, and allows you to develop healthy relationships with a variety of people.
Merge of the Internet and Online Dating
Online dating, or communicating with individuals via the Internet with the purpose of finding

Online Gambling Enforcement Act Of 2006
Back in 1996, the explosion of online casino gambling swept the world. The United States had
been a large part of this, and many gamblers had turned to online casinos for all of their gaming.
For many years, these casinos continued to be played unabated. Unfortunately, back in 2006,
legislation was passed that made it slightly difficult for online casinosto continue to operate. This
legislation, sneaked in by piggyback through the Safe Port Act, would be named the Unlawful
Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, and it became a thorn in the side of the online gambler, the
online casino, and all payment processors there in.
The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, or the UIGEA, had, in a nutshell,
prohibited banks and payment processors from processing transactions that would correlate to
online gambling. This has not only complicated loading accounts, but also withdrawing. While
USA online casinos have continued to operate, they have had to use payment processors that would
circumvent these restrictions. Sadly, the UIGEA was not even set to go into effect until December
of 2009, thought the implications of the legislation had fall out that would be nothing short of
catastrophic for many online gambling companies, especially those that relied heavily on the
United States market.
The UIGEA had hamstrung many of the operations around the world that utilized the American
market in order to stay ahead in profits, all the while keeping losses to a low. The

The Case Of Nino V. The Jewelry Exchange Essay
In the case of Nino v. The Jewelry Exchange, there were allegations brought forth by Rajae Nino
who felt he was discriminated against by his former employer, on the account of his gender and
national origin. When he was employed with said employer, he was given a copy of the company s
employment contract by the human resources manager and instructed him to read it and sign it
without affording him any opportunity to negotiate over its terms. With most discrimination cases,
the EEOC encourages the parties to discrimination charges to use mediation (Walsh, p. 20), with
this case the employer invoked an arbitration provision in Nino s employment contract wherein the
Court of Appeals decided the arbitration agreement was unconscionable and therefore

opportunity to negotiate with DI over the contract terms, DI was the stronger contractual party, and
the arbitration agreement is thus

Schaefer, Micheal K. Halldorson, and Cheryl Dizon Reynante at the University of Winnipeg in
Canada. These researchers sought to investigate if the time in which an individual these images of
traumatic events would affect the formation of flashbulb memories (Schaefer, 2011). A flashbulb
memories as defined by Brown Kulik are, an extremely vivid and detailed recollection of one s
contextual personal circumstances on first learning of an extraordinary, shocking event either
public or personal (Schaefer, 2011) . These vivid types of memories rely on canonical categories
when being recalled, such as the activity preformed when the event took place, who told them about
the event, and where they were when it happened (Schaefer, 2011).... Show more content on

The results of the studies vary tremendously some finding that visual images increase the
preservation of the story in memory or completely misrepresenting it (Schaefer, 2011). The
improvement in flashbulb memories in these studies has been credited to the vivid way in which
these event was covered. Yet, on the other hand researchers also credit the dispassionate way the
news anchors are trained to disassociate with the topics they are reporting on as negatively
affecting flashbulb memories (Schaefer, 2011). The majority of these findings in previous research
find that media such as the news has an undesirable effect on the construction of flash bulb
memories. What was not available in these studies were how many of the people who participated
in these studies were informed by media or other

Today I will be analysing the moral issues and moral dilemmas in non literary texts, so that we can understand and evaluate how test structures, language and visual features can be used to influence an audience response. An exemplar of many moral and ethical dilemmas is shown through popular sport inspiring movie, Remember The Titans (Yakin, 2000) directed by Boaz Yakin. Yakins has a gift for dealing with controversial human issues, by facing the characters with racism, peer pressure and selfishness. Alongside the writer Gregory Allen Howard, they have utilized textual structures, language features and visual features to influence the audience s response. Infuriated with the black people fighting back, Gerry instigates the racism and discrimination, snarling, Hell why don t you just kick em all off the team. I don t wanna play with any of them black animals. This scene was very effective and coincided with the use of close up camera shots to enhance Gerry s emotions, whilst reinforcing Yakin s message that black people were treated poorly and erratically. After Gerry s disastrous car accident, Coach Boone is faced with the moral dilemma of selfishness. Boone has always been a coach who strives to win, not only for himself, but for the team, however after the accident, he lacks empathy for the boys and thinks more about what he wants. When he suggests that the team incorporate more training to cope with the changes so that they can win, Yoast feels that Boone is being selfish and lacking consideration of the team s loss, so confronts him with the questions Is this even about football anymore? I chose to compare the scene where Olive is wrapping Christmas presents and hears All of the other reindeer on the radio. She hears Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer play, and listens to the lyric All of the other reindeer, but she thinks that it is saying Olive, the other reindeer, meaning that she is a reindeer. The difference between the two is that in the book, Olive hears all of the reindeer and thinks they are referring to her, and in the movie Olive s friend, Fido, hears all of the other reindeer and thinks Santa is referring to her. Another difference between the two is that the book does not have Fido in it. I think the only reason for this is because with a movie, the writer is able to incorporate a lot more detail into the storyline because the movie is longer. • 11. Dido s Farewell The poem, Dido s Farewell by Lina Pastan, dramatizes the conflict between Dido and her depression after Aeneas leaves Carthage. The character Dido is the ancient Phoenician queen who founded Carthage but killed herself after the love of her life, Aeneas, left her to follow his destiny as the founder of Rome. The author presents the conflict by speaking metaphorically as Dido, using her as an outlet, which is evident throughout the poem as the author uses the first person perspective but with modern contraptions. The author starts by speaking about how the rain is chronic at [her] window (1 2), painting the image that her sadness, which is typically presented by rain, is persistent. Continuing, the author speaks about how the candles in Dido s room are [drowning] in their own wax. This implies the candles have been in use for a prolonged amount of time, which would mean that Dido hasn t left the room during that time. This personification of the candles represents how she is drowning in her own tears and sadness such as the candles are drowning in their own wax. The next sentence, Abandoned by light, even ... This contradicts itself because Dido is a nomad in [her] own house, (16 17) someone with a fixed home is saying that they are someone without a fixed home. Line eighteen shows that her heart [is] knocking, (18) and later on it is knocking to be let out. Here perhaps, the author is trying to say that Dido isn t comfortable in her own skin and mind. The rising popularity of cell phones containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur filmmaking among society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the success of mobile devices and amateur film. Technologyis not just shaping culture; modern film and internet culture is shaping the development of today s society. Globally, the self concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell phone use for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social media usage. Social media usage branching from camera phone universality has become a significant factor in the purpose behind amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind sharing a homemade video online. One of the six claims that Rachels presents in section 2.2 of the article is that different societies have different moral codes. I believe that Rachels thinks this claim is true. Section 2.1 of the article does a good job at explaining this idea. In this section, Rachels gives several examples of the differences that can be found in moral codes of different people groups throughout time. One of the specific examples he mentions is the different burial rituals of the Greeks and the Callatians. The Greeks perform a ritual that includes burning the dead. The Callatian ritual consists of eating the dead. The Greeks and Callatians, while encountering each other, both stated that the other s ritual was inhumane. This disagreement, according to Cultural Relativism, is okay and to be expected because the two moral codes come from two drastically different societies. A modern example of this claim is that up until recently in China, small feet were praised and larger feet were frowned upon for women. Radical efforts to prevent women s feet from growing included foot binding. This method of prevention caused women to constantly be in pain. • 28. The United States And The Middle East Following World War II, the major international powers in the Middle East began to lose influence over the area. In 1946, France and Great Britain were forced to withdrawal from their colonized states by the United Nation Security Council when a delegation of the Middle Eastern countries called for the removal the colonial mandates on Middle East, specifically in Palestine (Department of Public Information). While Britain and France did not completely abandon their influence over the area, the removal of their direct influence over the Middle East left an opening for the two new superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union, to enter the scene. The two world powers were in stark competition after World War II in an attempt to spread their political ideology. The Middle East became a new battleground for the Cold Warafter the removal of France and Great Britain. • 30. The Last Mohicans The Last of the Mohicans Essay Everyone knows the famously old Arabic proverb, The enemy of my enemy is my friend and how it demonstrates itself in various points throughout history. The movie The Last Mohicans , which based of the bloody true event of the French and Indian War in 1757, is certainly no exception. The film portrays the interactions, as well as relationships between the two Native American tribes, the French, and the English. In the beginning, there was no separation of which tribe was which. Due to the lack of identification, there was no distinction of tribes until the main Huron, Magua, led the British troop into a Huron ambush while escorting them to the Fort. Unlike their peaceful comparison tribe, the Mohicans,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite having a somewhat uncertain alliance, the Natives treated the soldiers with respect, even referring to commanders as their English Fathers . Frontiersmen, or colonists, also were also honored, due to the tight bond they shared with the tribe in everyday life. In comparison to the vengeful enemy, the small tribe acted on keeping the English colonists, as well as the military, safe from the French and their ally. To counteract the quiet ambush style of the Hurons, many survival techniques such as walking along a waterfall to mask the sound of movement were shown to the few English to conceal their position. These procedures kept the few still standing English alive, without the tops of their heads cut off (for the time being). Albeit most interactions were positive, some were going against the unwritten alliance. Seeing many colonists houses decimated and the inhabitants killed, it was understandable for the men to want to get back home and defend the remaining frontier homes. However, the English commanders would not allow them to return home to defend their own land, as previously promised. Seeing them so desperate and witnessing the horrors of what the Hurons could do, the Mohicans decided to help the colonists escape from the Fort, but for a price. Considered to now to be traitors, the English captains took them prisoner in hand bindings, as if they had not saved them from certain death from French soldiers and Huron tribesmen countless of times. Overall, the relationship was mostly beneficial for the English, whereas the Mohicans only really prevented themselves from becoming prisoners of the king ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The poem firmly establishes the perplexity of one s generous personality. Enoch leaves his family to better the lives for each of them in a manner that reflects a view of personal toil and hardship to support the family in economic downfall. After the end of World War II in 1945, two random strangers were photographed snogging it out amongst high spirits of celebration. This famous photograph, V J Day Kiss has been one to remember for so many years because the rhetorical elements such as the focus point of the photo, black and white contrasts, and the body language, which all indicate that this photograph was taken at an unprepared moment, help to add a symbolic reference that World War II has concluded. V J Day Kiss uses the focus point of the photograph to symbolize the end of a treacherous war. As seen center photo, the sailor and nurse are kissing. The use for such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The picture s absence of color denies the viewer pleasure of an overall picture of the celebratory moment. When viewing the photo in color, a new perspective is built because color triggers emotions such as yellow for happiness and blue for tranquility. Moreover, the original black and white print of the photograph can be seen as dull compared to a colored version. The absence of color accompanies a cold feel even though the photo is rather a celebratory moment. Even though the loss of color is a con, a pro would be that the nurse s white dress atop the soldier s dark uniform because it adds the sense of a center focus. Without the center focus, the key idea of the photograph (kissing) would be lost. Along with the wardrobe, the color of the photo indicates the era also. Black and white are typically viewed in pictures taken before colored cameras appeared in technology so the viewer can assume that V J Day Kiss was one of those photos. Lastly, the body language of everyone in the photo can indicate that the picture was shot as an off guard, or in simpler terms, an unprepared moment. The nurse being kissed has her arm in a weird position seeming to add the element of surprise. Also the character s legs in the background are blurry which can indicate that this photo was taken amidst a celebration. Blurred figures are the support to the argument that this photo was taken at random rather than planned because everywhere one may look at the picture, there is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through the Internet, people can interact over greater distances in a shorter period and at less expense than in the past. Since the evolution of the Internet, there is less face to face interaction and more communication via text messages, emails, and online chatting. This social stigma is up for much debate on how it relates to the progression in romantic relationships. This literature review focuses on how the Internet is utilized as a supportive method of courting used by individuals to meet online in hopes of forming a romantic relationship. Counterarguments suggest that online communication expands social interaction because it connects you to a plethora of people at a fast rate. The research of Cooper and Sportolari (1997) was significantly useful because according to experts, the use of the Internet in romantic relationships lowers the pressure of physical attributes, more freedom to meet someone new regardless of gender, and allows you to develop healthy relationships with a variety of people. The United States had been a large part of this, and many gamblers had turned to online casinos for all of their gaming. For many years, these casinos continued to be played unabated. Unfortunately, back in 2006, legislation was passed that made it slightly difficult for online casinosto continue to operate. This legislation, sneaked in by piggyback through the Safe Port Act, would be named the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, and it became a thorn in the side of the online gambler, the online casino, and all payment processors there in. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, or the UIGEA, had, in a nutshell, prohibited banks and payment processors from processing transactions that would correlate to online gambling. This has not only complicated loading accounts, but also withdrawing. While USA online casinos have continued to operate, they have had to use payment processors that would circumvent these restrictions. Sadly, the UIGEA was not even set to go into effect until December of 2009, thought the implications of the legislation had fall out that would be nothing short of catastrophic for many online gambling companies, especially those that relied heavily on the United States market. The Jewelry Exchange, there were allegations brought forth by Rajae Nino who felt he was discriminated against by his former employer, on the account of his gender and national origin. When he was employed with said employer, he was given a copy of the company s employment contract by the human resources manager and instructed him to read it and sign it without affording him any opportunity to negotiate over its terms. With most discrimination cases, the EEOC encourages the parties to discrimination charges to use mediation (Walsh, p. 20), with this case the employer invoked an arbitration provision in Nino s employment contract wherein the Court of Appeals decided the arbitration agreement was unconscionable and therefore unenforceable. On the flip side, if the unconscionable terms were removed from the contract, the remainder of the employment contract could be enforced. Additionally, when it comes to a contract being labeled as unconscionable , it relates to the process of contract formation essentially involves a take it or leave it offer of an agreement drafted by a more powerful party (a contract of adhesion ) and when the contents of the agreement unreasonably favor the more powerful party (p. 22).
