Essay on Definition of Home Schooling
Definition of Home Schooling
What is home schooling? Home schooling is defined as a provision of compulsory education in the
home as an alternative to traditional public/private schooling often motivated by parental desire to
exclude their children from the traditional school environment (Education Resources Information
Center (ERIC), 1999).
Parents homeschool their children in many different ways. The techniques vary from traditional
ways of teaching using textbooks, to community activism, to the study of classic literature and
Latin, and many versions in between (Ransom, 2001; Izhizuka et. al., 2000).
Homeschooling is permitted in all 50 states, however, each state has its own rules and regulations

al, 2000).
The state of Maryland does not set forth any specific qualifications that must be met by the person
homeschooling a child. In contrast, the person home schooling a child in Virginia must have at
least a four year college degree, use a pre approved curriculum course, or have their curriculum pre
approved before the start of the school year. Students in Virginia are also required to receive
instruction for the same number of days as those children in public schools. Virginia homeschoolers
are required to take one state test, in which they must score in the 40th percentile of the test
population (which is given to all Virginia students) to continue homeschooling through the next
year (Ishizuka et. al., 2000). District of Columbia law sets no specific requirements for the person
homeschooling the child and does not test the children being homeschooled in any way.
Reasons Parents Choose to Homeschool
One homeschooling mother says public schools have forgotten about educating (Cloud et. al.,
2001). Some parents are scared to send their children to public schools, due to the number of school
shootings that have occurred within the last 10 years (Parents Shout Out, 2001). After the shootings
in Littleton, Colorado, some homeschooling leaders reported a growing number of parents
inquiring about home educating their children (Ishizuka et. al., 2000).
Other parents find their student is one of forty five children in the

Pros And Cons Of Television On TV
According to Juliet Schor, TV has been considered as a promoter of consumerism or TV is a
popular alternative way to costing a lot of spending such as concerts, restaurants, and shopping.
Therefore, the more TV a person watches, the more he/she will spend. In other words, what we
see on TV every day inflates our sense of what s normal or what s not, and what we should be
buying just to look like the lifestyle in TV. Ironically, the lifestyle depicted on TV are far different
from the typically Americans lifestyle, because those characters in the TV are upper middle class
with glamorous clothing or even the rich people. Besides, watching a lot of TV leads to a
significant increase in crimerate. The most important crime is larceny. Because by watching those
products on TV made people who didn t have that want to have and led to steal them. Likewise, by
watching the TV, people have imbedded themselves in the unbearable lifestyle, which is filled with
tennis courts, private planes, swimming pool, private cinema, private gym and separated vacation
homes. By seeing these things, people start to feel the need to spend more than what they should,
and care less about the consequences they re about to face.
The role of luxury good advertisements does create many significant problems. Those ads such as
cars, diamonds, perfume, dresses, and other expensive items have placed a wrong image in people
s mind. It affects us by showing us the real information about those items, but in a

Neel Noddings
The concept of care and caring relationships vary from person to person. Author Nel Noddings
addresses these concepts in her 2005 book The Challenge to Care in Schools: An Alternative
Approach to Education. Once idea that Noddings discusses is caring for distant others; distant
others would be the people you see on a day to day basis but are not connect with emotionally.
She suggests that we are not obligated to care for distant others but I have a differing view. In my
opinion, we are obligated to care for distant others by watching out for/warning others about
dangers that may negatively impact their lives Caring for those who are not well connected with
us as individuals is a delicate phenomenon. Nel Noddings addresses this idea in her... Show more

As see states on page 116, caring at a distance is fraught with difficulties. (Noddings, 2005)
Finally, when we have the power and desire to act at a distance, it is tempting to initiate and
control. We are too impatient or too confident or too puffed up with our own righteous sense of
responsibility to listen and encourage initiative from others. (Noddings, 2005) Essentially,
Noddings is trying to say that we human beings are too busy in our lives to worry about the
wellbeing of those who are distant from us. It is difficult to care for distant others in Noddings
sense of care because caring relationships require engrossment from carer to cared for, and
acknowledgement of the engrossment from cared for to carer. ...we (here in the United States,
for example) could not, as individuals, be obligated to care for starving children in Africa
because there is no way for most of us to see caring through to its completion. We might
sympathetically send $10 to Oxfam or some other relief organization, but we have no reliable
method of knowing whether our money will be used to relieve hunger...I still think this is an
accurate descriptive account of a major difficulty in trying to care at a distance. (p.

Justice In A Few Good Men
When it comes down to laws, it is really your own choice to determine; what s the good way? Is
it to obey or disobey? What is correct, what is incorrect? Questions like these go through people
s minds right before they are about to act. The law is there obviously for people to follow, but
that is not always the case. In A Few Good Men, within minutes of the movie. Lt. Daniel Kaffee
was negotiating the law with Capt. Jack Ross about how long the two men on trial could go away
to prison for. Without even going to court he started creating his own rules and made assumptions
based on the few notes he had read on the case. Instead of Lt. Kaffee proceeding as he usually
does; not attending court but simply negotiating with the opposing lawyers he decided to fight the
other lawyers as he believed Lance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his high position in the Marines. Col. Nathan Jessep issued a code red a punishment for not

was only because they were told to by their higher

An Ethnography Of The Germanic Tribes
Tacitus Germania, written roughly at the end of the first century AD, serves as an ethnography of
the Germanic tribes and aims to provide concrete analysis of the fundamental aspects of barbaric
society. However, historians often note the significant difficulties with the work particularly when
observing the source of Tacitus information on the Germanic tribes. Additionally, stemming from
the uncertain origin of Tacitus knowledge of barbaric society surfaces various tensions naturally
produced by the structure of the work. Of specific interest lies the notion of Roman stereotypes of
the Germanic tribes. The Germania presents the reader with a type of rhetorical puzzle whereby a
fine line exists between Tacitus beliefs regarding the Germanic tribes, and his intent for writing the
work. Although Tacitus seems to ultimately sympathize with the morality and courage of the
barbarians, the Germania, in an effort to appeal to his Roman audience, subtly references Roman
stereotypes regarding the need for Roman expansion into the barbaric territory.
Edward James, a medieval era historian, describes the Roman perspective on barbarian culture.
Early in his work, entitled Europe s Barbarians, AD 200 600, he states the origin of the word
barbarian in Roman culture: Primarily it meant non Roman, someone who came from outside the
Roman Empire; but secondarily it meant barbarous , that is, someone who was not civilized. Thus,
the word barbarian is associated with two

Amelia Earhart s Life
Amelia Earhart s last words were heard 8:43 a.m.; these are the last documented moments of her
life ( Earhart Project ). Any signs or clues as to where Earhart and her plane were located vanished
the second these words had been received, leaving the public stumped and constantly inquiring
about what exactly had become of Amelia Earharton that day. At long last, due to new discoveries,
some light now shines upon Earhart s whereabouts. Despite popular belief, AmeliaEarhart wasn t
captured by the Japanese nor was she lost at sea; in fact, the famous pilot landed on the
uninhabited island of Nikumaroro and passed away before she could be saved.

There are multitudes of other conspiracies, however, this one is evidentially proven to be true.
Earhart s plane was never submerged under water or taken away from her since she was sending
Morse Code signals for days after her planes disappearance. In addition to this, Nikumaroro was
the closest island to her destination and the island s beaches were ideal for landing. On top of
this, many artifacts that have to be Earhart s or Noonan s, her navigator, have originated from
Nikumaroro. Most importantly, they found a body matching Earhart s size and race as well on
Nikumaroro. All of these findings combined make it the highly unlikely Earhart had ended up

La Mosquitia Summary
This article mainly talks about the people of Mosquitia region, near Nicaragua and Honduras. Its
is adjacent to the Maya, which is one of the most studied places. The Mosquitia is the most
mysterious areas of Central America. It was in a place of dense vegetation covering a large
amount of land. There were stories about how people would disappear to the Mountain of La
Mosquitia and were never seen again. Chris Fisher, an archeologist decided to go study that area
even though it was said that the soils couldn t support human life. When Fisher arrived, he found

How Have Cigarette Ads Changed Over The Years
While researching information for the group assignment our group found that over the year s
cigarette ads have changed tremendously. Diego decided to study ads created in the 1960 s where
ads were targeted at every marketing group possible. The ads were promoted as something
everyone was doing. Even the Flintstone cartoon characters were used in cigarettecommercials.
Companies promoted cigarettes as a product that not only has a great tobaccotaste, but is also quiet
refreshing and soothing. Most ads during this time period involved couples where the leading man
attracted the women with his cool refreshment of the cigarette. Other ads tried to persuade smokers
to get rid of the old items that are not working out so great such as their choice of cigarettes, and
switch over to their Kool cigarettes. Every company tried convince consumers that their cigarettes

Here, advertisements moved away from being short films as seen in the 60 s and focused solely
on their sales pitch. A lot of commercials still kept the couples romance theme, but added a catchy
song along with a nice jingle that pulled in the viewers attention. Other companies decided to
include coupons that could be used to purchase other retail items at a discounted price to draw in
customers. During the 90 s cigarette companies were forced to make the consumer aware of the
hazardous issues cigarettes could cause but were still pretty amazing to smoke. Even with
customers knowing the harm cigarettes could do to your health, people still had the urge
contaminate their bodies for a puff of nicotine. Around this decade one company decided to throw
a new product into the tobacco business by selling something to help people give up the bad habit
of smoking. Little did they know, this product would change the tobacco market over the next few

The Early Life Of Saint Elizabeth Of The Visitation
So Abraham received what God promised because he waited patiently for it. That s what
Hebrews 6:15 says. Just like Abraham, Saint Elizabeth was patient and gained what she had
longed for through the grace of God. Imagine that you are Saint Elizabeth. You are disappointed
that you were never blessed with a child, but you never become bitter from it. You are always
humble and put God first. You and Zechariah pray every day for a child. Your prayers are never
answered, but you still remain faithful to God. SaintElizabeth of the Visitation, who is still
venerated in the Church today, was the cousin of Mary, the mother of John the Baptist, and the first
to acknowledge the importance Mary s pregnancy.
Little is known about Saint Elizabeth s early life. She was born in the 1st century BC ( Saint
Elizabeth of the Visitation 5). She was a descendant of Aaron, Moses brother ( Elizabeth
(Biblical person) 4). Her mother was named Sobe, and Mary s mother was Anne, which made
Elizabeth and Mary cousins ( Elizabeth (Biblical person) 3). Elizabeth is also known as Elisabeth
or Elisheva (which was also Aaron s wife s name) ( Elizabeth (Biblical person) 1). In Hebrew
(ЧђЦ±ЧњЦґЧ™Ч©Ц¶ЧЃЧ‘Ц·Чў), Elizabeth s name means, An oath to my God ( Elizabeth

High School Life Analysis
Four years ago, we, the students of the class of twenty seventeen, began our journey a journey

weeks, semesters, and years until we would graduate.

Analysis Of The Book Cordelia Achen
The Role of the Cone in Book One
Cordelia Achen As the title suggests, Apollonius Conics deals with the various conic sections,
shapes that arise when one cuts the cone in different ways. However, we leave the cone rather
quickly in our foray into the conic sections, exploring the parabola, hyperbola, circle, and ellipse as
they exist outside the cone and the various line relationships that comprise them. After we find
the diameter for these sections, the cone makes a sudden reappearance as we construct the conic
sections from given lines and angles. Why do we return to the cone? Why leave it in the first
place? What the cone gives in book one of Apollonius is the curved line for each of the shapes.
Its absence allows us to see more relationships between the conic sections, and its reappearance
demonstrates how much farther we have to go before truly understanding curvature. Each of the
conic sections are defined by curve, and this curve is given to them by the way they are cut
from the cone. The circle, for instance, found in any section cut parallel to the base, has a
completely regular curve and is bound wholly within the cone. Thus the line joins in on itself.
The parabola, however, which is found in any section parallel to one side of the axial triangle or
when the diameter meets the axial triangle before the vertex, has a less regular curve because it
follows a different part of the conic section. The parabola also never meets itself because it is not
bound by the

In today s business world, competition is a big concern for nearly every corporation. The
competition on the market is getting stronger and more difficult to overcome, in many situations
corporations terminate their products, production, or their services, just because it is impossible to
continue; the cost is too high to focus on gathering development projects in marketing, production,
market research, and product innovation, to fight against the competitors.

An example of Blue Ocean Strategy business would be Le Cirque du Soleil. At some point of our
life we did went to see the circus. The circus performances were very popular for many centuries.
This is an old concept a group of artists and acrobats who travel the world with a tent, and with a
diversity of wild animals to perform a spectacular show. The primary target was the children. Today,
this concept is obsolete, although still exist in Europe.
According The Wall Street Journal ... Cirque du Soleil, the Canadian company that redefined the
dynamics of a declining circus industry in the 1980s. Under conventional strategy analysis, the
circus industry was a loser. Star performers had supplier power over the company. Alternative forms
of entertainment, from sporting events to home entertainment systems, were relatively inexpensive
and on the rise. Moreover, animal rights groups were putting increased pressure on circuses for
their treatment of animals. (Murray, 2014) A new era was created transforming the concept of what
is a circus today. As the Wall Street Journal described, Cirque du Soleil eliminated the animals and
reduced the importance of individual stars. It created a new form of entertainment that combined
dance, music and athletic skill to appeal to an upscale adult audience that had abandoned the
traditional circus. (Murray, 2014)
This new revolutionary strategy took an obsolete business, which was at risk of

Jeffery Dahmer Essay
Jeffery Dahmer is arguably the most notorious serial killer cannibal in history. Targeting men and
boys, Dahmer s life of crime began with drinking and sex offending. His murders were
exceptionally gruesome, often involving rape, torture, necrophilia, dismemberment, and
cannibalism. The media often commented on how normal Dahmer appeared. Jeffrey Dahmer
made everyone question how one develops into such a monster. By the time of his apprehension,
Dahmer had sodomized, murdered, and cannibalized at least seventeen men, mostly black,
Hispanic or Asian, in the Milwaukee area between the years of 1978 until his arrest in 1991

age (Bardsley Ch. 14). Also as a teen, Dahmer s parents ended their relationship by divorce. In the
fall of 1978, Dahmer entered Ohio State University, where he remained intoxicated for the majority

Analysis Of Ashes By Susan Beth Pfeffer
In the short story called, Ashes by Susan Beth Pfeffer, the protagonist is dealing with the
complicated relationship between her divorced parents. Ashleigh, the main character, is questioned
by her dad if she can borrow her mom s money for his own problems. Ashes, short for Ashleigh,
like the compliments that she keeps receiving from her dad. Ashes complex relationship with her
parents makes her choose between her mom or her dad. One lesson this story suggests is that no
matter how much you love someone, you have to let them handle things on their own.
In the beginning of the story, the readers can understand that is Ashes talking about her parents.
Her mom is a practical person and always ready for anything, extra batteries for flashlights
during a blackout or extra coins for laundry and her dad on the other hand, is an easygoing,
carefree and willingness to help. In the story it says, ... All I can give you is dreams, Ashes. But
one good dream is worth a thousand flashlight batteries. This provides an explanation of how her
dad can only give her dreams and nothing else. He called her a name that made her feel special,
something her mom did not do, and her mom did not promise things she could not fulfill.
There is a part in the beginning of the story where Ashes, says When I was little, Dad used to
promise me the stars for a necklace, but like most of his promises, that one never quite happened.
This quote explains that he speaks more and is actionless. He has promised her things and
accomplished nothing. If he had bought her a necklace with fake stars, it would make Ashes feel
like her at least cared for her. He did not have to hype her up with hopes and then destroy them by
not fulfilling it.
In the text, Ashes is constantly getting compliments that she does not believe. Her dad calls her a
.. one in a million girl. A name Ashes does not believe she lives up to. Ashes knew that was not
true but did not tell her dad anything because she loves him and does not want to hurt him. Her
father keep on complimenting her, which makes him seem warm and loving. Her father s purchase
of loyalty by the way of compliments came into play when he asks Ashes to take her mother s
money from the teapot

Sex Therapist Career Assignment
I.Introduction The occupation that I have selected for my Career assignment was a Sex
Therapist. I am a senior here at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and my career goal is to
become a Sex Therapist in the future. How I got interested in this occupation is that I knew that
I wanted to help people in some way, so I started taking thinking and taking career quizzes. I
grew up in a family that was very comfortable and open with one another that I found talking
about taboo subjects does not make me comfortable and I find those taboo subjects interesting.
So, I changed my major to Psychology major which will help me prepare for my field because I
am going into a clinical field that deals with diagnosing people on their behavior. Studying
psychology is all about the mind s functions and how it affects behavior. In the following
paragraphs I will explain in depth of background knowledge and the educational requirements for
pursuing a career as a Sex Therapist. Also, proving information about the salary, competitiveness,
type of job locations, and expectations. For this assignment I interviewed Jill O Brien who is a
Physical Therapist that works at Gunderson and runs her own clinic who specializes in Pelvic
Health. This is not the exact career that I want, but her a career of interest is something similar to
what I will be working with future patients about in the future. I could not job shadow a Sex
Therapist due to confidentiality reasons. These are the topics I will be

The Importance Of Mutualism Between Animal And Animal Species
It is a kind of positive interspecific interaction in which members of two different species favor the
growth and survival of each other and their association is obligatory.
Species A = (+)
Species B = (+)
In this interaction, the members have widely different requirements and so interdependent that they
cannot survive separately. It is an extreme type of symbiosis in which symbionts have permanent
and obligatory close contacts.
1.Mutualism between animal and animal species
Cleveland (1926) reported the presence of a multi flagellate protozoan Trichonympha Campanula as
a symbiont in the intestine of white ant termite.
The ant provides food and shelter to the protozoan which in turn secretes cellulase enzymes to
digest the cellulose of wood ingested by the ant. Cellulose is hydrolyzed to sugars which are used
by both the partners.
When the gut lining of Termite is ready for molting, Trichonympha undergoes encystment and are
passed out with molting.
To ensure infection, the ant eats its molt. Newly hatched termites lick the anus of the older termites
to ingest the symbiont.
About 11 families and 40 genera of flagellates have been reported from the intestine of termites.
Ant aphid mutualism
Some kinds of ants pick up aphids or the aphids eggs from the surface of green plants and shelter
them inside their own nest. The ants use the digestive wastes of the aphids as their food while
aphids in return get nourishment from the rootlets of the plants ramifying through

Homeless Problem Essay
Homeless problem is easier to solve than to manage (Malcolm Gladwell). It is so difficult to
find a good answer for this issue, but the most moral solution for the homeless problem is to give
them a free apartment and take care of them, if they have injuries, like mental illness or
addictions. This is a good resolution because they need something to start with a new life, and
this solution is a good way for a new beginning, as they don t own a home and neither money to
buy food. Even though giving a free apartment to the homeless could seem unfair to those
citizens who are working every day and don t own so much money to live, these citizens have to
think about the lack of possibilities the homeless have living in the streets, a Care issue. So what
it would be done is that they will share an apartment with the essential needs to live and with a
weekly review for their health. At the beginning care issue is more important than fair because
homeless people don t have anything to start with, so they can t find work with their appearance,
as the bosses look for people who appears good and have a stable situation. But care issue is only
temporally more important than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Gladwell explains in his book, there are three types of homeless. First, the majority of them,
are those who only are one or two days in the street, and they never come back. Then, there are
the young and drug users, the ones who come to the street for three weeks, and they return
periodically in winter. And the final ones, are the chronically homeless, who are living for a
year or more, most of them old and with a mental ill or a physically disabled. So the care issue
will be done, because these people are the ones who really need help and must have someone who
takes care of them, as they have nowhere to go and neither anything to eat, some of them with

Bottled Water And Its Effects On The Human Body
Everyday millions of people will reach for a bottle of water, not thinking about the effects it can
have on many aspects of their life and others. Bottled water may seem innocent but it needs to be
treated with extreme care and caution. Even though bottled water may seem safe, it could contain
many toxins. By drinking from a plastic water bottle, people should consider if it is really worth
the cost of paying for the actual bottle itself. People should also consider the long term effects it
can have on the earth as well as the effects it can have on the human body. Bottled waterhas always
gave the impression of being cost efficient and safe, but when put to the test are they harming
people more than what is suspected of the so called harmless water bottle? Many people will
enter a super market without thinking and purchase a case of bottled water. On average a case
of bottled water costs approximately six dollars, a normal family of four will consume on
average a whole case of water in a week. The cost of bottled water for a month would be an
estimated twenty four dollars and the average cost of bottled water for a year would be an
estimated 314 dollars. Bottled water is an important choice in situations where there is a lack of
water fountains or concern about the quality but some families might question where else they
could use this money and benefit from it increasingly more (Lauria 665). Families could always
turn to much unhealthier choice such as sugary sodas

The Decline Of The Paleolithic Age
A.Humans began migrating across the globe during the Paleolithic Age. The human species
originated in Eastern Africa around the African Great Lakes. From there, they spread out all over
Africa. Then they moved out of Africa into Southwestern Asia. They migrated toward Europe and
from Eastern Asia down through the Pacific Islands and Australia. Many historians argue over how
humans populated the Americas, but most believe that they traveled on a land bride, connecting
Russia to North America during the Ice age. Once they reached North America, the Paleolithic
people migrated downward until they reached the tip of South America. The spread of the human
species an impressive achievement of the Paleolithic Age.
B.Agriculture was started during the Neolithic Revolution. The people in the Middle East were the
first to develop farming. Gradually, the knowledge spread to other communities in South Africa,
India, North China, and Southeast Asia. Agriculture emerged because of the end of the Ice Age. It
became harder to hind animals to hunt and farming provided a reliable source of food.
C.Sedentary agriculture lead to many changes in society. Farming gave people a reliable resource
for food, which could support a lot more people compared to hunting. Because it created a larger
population of people, it was harder to migrate in a nomadic life style. Thus, people began building
permanent homes and villages. Agriculture also caused the invention and development of new
techniques and

chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. The Boston Tea Party was an act of protest against Parliament

Social And Negative Effects Of Interracial Marriage
America socially and culturally has come a long way with desegregation, as one in six U.S.
newlyweds (17%) were married to a person of a different race or ethnicity in 2015, a more than
fivefold increase from 3% in 1967 (Kristen Bialik n.p.). The reason behind this is because about 50
years ago, there were many laws put in place that bans interracial marriage. However, the situation
changed when a when a white man and a black woman, the Lovings, violated Virginia s Racial
Integrity Act of 1924, which prohibited interracial marriage. The Lovings were sentenced to a year
in prison but they brought their case before the Supreme Court and their love won. In 1967, the
justices ruled in their favor in Loving vs. Virginia, thereby invalidating all racebased restrictions on
interracial marriage in the United States (Story Hinckley n.p.). With just one family resisting the
laws, it changed the perspective of the whole world as they proved that it was wrong to deny the
freedom of marrying whoever you wanted. Although people are slowly trying to become more
accepting of different views towards mixed marriage, families dealing with this situation are
experiencing negative and positive reactions from society. Children, in particular, show the most
concern regarding the impact interracial marriage has on their social and physiological issues.
Parents play a crucial role in a child s development as they provide the first experience in life that

How Is Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Alike
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote two very touching poems. Both similar, but different in
many ways as well. Also both written in very two different parts of his life. One of them he
wrote when he was young and one when he was quiet a bit older. One of them being A Psalm of
Life . In this poem Longfellow expresses that everyone should live in the moment because
tomorrow may or may not come but we are not in charge of that so we might as well enjoy our
life. By saying this we also shouldn t dwell on the past because that is out of our hands as well.
He believes that we should leave our mark on this world when we unfortunately have to leave it,

The Safety Hood was a cotton hood protected people from inhaling smoke and poisonous gasses
and instead gave them purer air through two hoses with wet sponges as filters at ends. This is
much unlike the plastic and rubbery gas masks with a screw on replaceable filter on the side
you probably see in most media. As I m sure you know, the gas mask was used a lot in many
different places and jobs. Of course, the most common were military and firefighters.
Firefighters use it just for what Garrett had made it for, easy breathing in smoke filled rooms and
areas. Although the military did use gas masks in many wars, one little known fact is that
despite common belief, Morgan s Safety Hood was not the version of the gas mask used in
World War I. You see, because the gas in World War I needed to get into the trenches, it was
heavy and creeped along the ground, because of this, a lot of the gas would be at floor where the
hoses are at the end of the Safety Hood. The hoses are meant to be on the floor to get cleaner air,
but it would instead have sucked in more of the gas than a soldier would if they just breathed

Hippocampus In Social Memory
Early investigations of the role of the hippocampus in social memory involved lesions to the brain
areas that project to and from the hippocampus. One of such areas is medial septum, which has
strong reciprocal projections to and from hippocampal formation (McNaughton Miller 1984; Alonso
Köhler 1984; Chandler Crutcher 1983). It has been shown that vincristine induced lesions to the
medial septum impairs social memory(Terranova et al. 1994; Fournier et al. 1993). Similarly,
transection of the fimbria, which carries multiple projections to and from the hippocampus(Wyss et

Product donation have emerged as a cost effective alternative to disposal. Donation to charities is a
great way for businesses to give back to their communities and building their image and reputation
in the community. It also help free the needed warehouse space, reduce the cost of storage and take
advantage of the special tax deduction.
Methodology
When our team agreed upon the decision to donate the excess and obsolete inventories as our third
alternative, we decided to look into the Syria crisis and non profit organization that has an extensive
experience responding to nature disaster nationwide. Our research consist of, researching for non
profit organizations that will accept excess inventories, nonprofit organization that works closely

In the Faust legend, a man by the name of Faust or Faustus sells his soul to the devil for twenty
four years of ultimate worldly power. Although the tale of this German scholar/ magician called
Johann Faust or Faustus has been re told many times over, no version has become more prominent
and controversial in English literature and history than that of Christopher Marlowes play first
published eleven years after his death in 1604. Marlowe s reworking is possibly the first

Marlowe used many conventions of the medieval morality play, a popular form which uses a
variety of allegory and narrates the gradual education of its hero into an understanding of the
difference between essentially right and wrong. He modified this traditional form for Doctor
Faustus and fitted it to the legend where conventionally the hero invariably comes to the
conclusion of the play a wiser and better man, but due to the satanic nature of Faustus s rebellion
he inevitably falls to his doom and is dragged screaming to Hell. But what were his motivations
for such a seditious rebellion with inevitably disastrous consequences? Was he just bored and
wanted more of a challenge so cast aside any previous knowledge of religious consequences
when intellectual and supernatural supremacy is used for bad and not for good? The Chorus

Exploring Identity In The Harlem Renaissance
Exploring Identity in the Harlem Renaissance During the 1920s, black literature and culture
exploded in a movement known as the Harlem Renaissance, which at its forefront directly
challenged white stereotypes that defined black perception in society. Thus, one major focus during
this movement was to recreate and define a new identity for black Americans through the lens of
art. Two poets attempted such a feat and, in their works, argued for an identity centered on the
authentic roots and customs of African American culture. As evidenced by I, too, Theme for

Benefits Of Self Storage For Home Owners
There are many reasons home owners and business owners make use of self storage facilities. Self
storage offers numerous benefits and in this article, I will talk about some of the main benefits of
using self storage facilities.
Benefits Of Self Storage For Home Owners
Hoarding when we have the desire to hold on to things, we want to create some space for those
things so we can use them later on in our lives. Many people have this fear of throwing things
which they think may be useful for them in the future. There are numerous examples of people in
the self storage industry of renting a storage space which they can use to collect items which they
cannot store in their homes anymore. In most families, hoarding can cause a real problem because
it creates an actual reduction in the living space. When we make use of self storage facilities, we
can clear that space in our homes and at the same time retain those items.
Reduce Clutter whether it is home or office, storage space can help reduce clutter and free up the
much needed space.
Security there is more security offered by self storage facilities than we can find in homes. Apart
from a simple lock, there are security fences, gated entry, surveillance cameras, exterior lighting,
limited after hours entry and security guards. If you have valuable items in the house which you
are going to use later on, it is best to put them in self storage facilities.

that motivate them to act. These feelings are basically created by regular excessive trainings.
Tools, including bull hook, electric pads, metal rods, and drugs, are used simultaneously in the

Throughout their relationship, he emotionally abused her, held a gun to her head, criticized her
weight, made false accusations, cheated, called her names, and physically assaulted her during
pregnancy. A psychopath seeks to destroy your self worth and self esteem through cruel and
methodical mind manipulation. In her book, Dangerous Liaisons: How to Recognize and
Escape from Psychopathic Seduction, Claudia Moscovici writes about psychopaths and how
they seduce women. She reveals the process of psychopathic seduction: Idealize, Devalue, and
Discard. Let s examine Nakia s abusive relationship using the Idealize, Devalue, and Discard
phases, so we can observe how a psychopath operates. 1.Idealization Phase During the
Idealization Phase the predator lures you in with the promise of love He s a charmer, seducing
you with sweet whispers so you can t see him for who he really is: a cold blooded slithering snake
waiting to sink his fangs into your self esteem and feed off your soul Nakia says during the

The Benefits of Xenotransplantation Essay
The Benefits of Xenotransplantation
New technology has opened many doors of opportunity for advancements in medical science. Not
even in our wildest dreams would we have imagined a world where animal organs could be safely
transplanted into humans. A few years ago, this process called xenotransplantation, was completed
for the very first time. The only dilemma critics had with the process involved the chances of
infection and organ rejection from the patient. Through experimentation and advances made in the
process, these problems have been greatly reduced. Some doctors believe that xenotransplantation
will perfect our world one transplant at a time by providing an alternate route to waiting on donor
lists. Xenotransplantation is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of an experiment that lacks a purpose and may be open for ethical debate would be
when scientists blowtorched pigs with no painkillers and observed to see how they responded to
third degree burns (MacKenzie 424). Notice the difference between this experiment and research
for xenotransplantation? Experiments on animals for xenotransplantation research have a great use
for human medicine since the process may very well be our solution to lengthy donor lists and
organ shortages. An estimated 65,000 Americans suffering from organ failure are currently waiting
for an organ transplant and the number is continuously growing (Fung 54). Many people die each
year because suitable donors are not found in time, so any progress towards expanding the number
of organs available for transplantation will eventually save human lives. Since pigs are of similar
size and anatomy to humans they are the preferred animals for transplants, even over apes
(Kaebnick 7). The fact that pigs are used over apes actually suppresses animal rights activist s
debate on the ethical standpoint since pigs are not endangered.
Xenotransplantation is an important advancement in medical science because of the positive impacts
the process has on humans, such as saving lives and providing an alternative to waiting on a
lengthy donor list when

Short Story Eleven By Sandra Cisneros
In this short story Eleven , Sandra Cisneros tells a story about a little girl named Rachel, who at
a young age, understands the irony of when it comes to life and aging. On her eleventh birthday,
she wished she had turned one hundred and two because she would ve had the courage and ability
to stand up for herself and the knowledge to say what she needed to say to her teacher. Instead, she
went through emotions from when she was younger causing her to seem vulnerable and weak
because she was suppose to acteleven. In the beginning of the story,
Rachel begins saying What they don t understand about birthdays and what they never tell you is
that when you re eleven, you re also ten, and nine, and eight, and seven, and six, and five, and four,

I personally can relate to Rachel in this story. I understand what it feels like to be embarrassed by
acting a certain age you are currently not but was once before. Being humiliated in front of your
peers, especially by a teacher. Doing everything in your power not to act like a three year old
because you are eleven. Yes I can relate to that feeling. I have on many occasions casted out
emotions of a younger age, due to obstaclas in life that hit me.
Rachel who had turned eleven, wished she was older because she knows she would be getting
the respect she deserved and the courage to have stood up for herself. She responded to her
teacher like a four year old child, stuttering trying to defend the fact that the sweater wasn t hers,
but nothing was coming out to her defense. The teacher insisted that she remember Rachel
wearing the sweater and placed it on her desk. At that point is when the three year old Rachel
wanted to come out and cry because she had been humiliated in front of her peers. But she fought
back tears because she was eleven, not three. She didn t want to look vulnerable and weak in front
of her peers. She thought about how she was going home to a celebration because of

Essay on Multimedia The Wide Spectrum
Multimedia The Wide Spectrum In this paper, I will endeavor to provide you with a basic
overview as to what multimedia consists of. I will also delve into the visual aspect in the wide
spectrum of multimedia to show what it consists of and for a better understanding as to how it fits
in.
Multimedia first began with games but Web pages, interactive courses, and catalogs with sound
and video have now dominated the stage. Not long ago, the term multimedia referred to a room full
of slide projectors, tape decks, and movie projectors. Multimedia presentations were hard to put
together and even harder to run. Many of them took weeks of preparation and they were then
shown only once (Curtin 217). The computer has changed all of ... Show more content on

There is no question that multimedia can improve the quality of games and this is shown through
such creations as Playstation. In the end, it is that very game like quality that can enhance a
learning experience. Parents watching their children play innovative games see how powerful
multimedia is at teaching them how to read or solve math problems even thought the children
perceive the experience as just a game. Building on the power of this perception, innovators have
increasingly used multimedia to support all kinds of activities that are not just games ( Partial
Project List ).
As computer applications programs become more complex, software publishers are building
multimedia presentations into their programs to introduce new features and walk the user through
them. In companies, this form of presentation will take a big load off the overworked technical
support staff (Curtin 218). For individuals at home or in small businesses, it will make programs
easier to learn and use.
Multimedia is extensively used for education and training in schools, businesses, and the home.
Education that implements multimedia allows you to proceed at your own pace. It changes the
boring presentations (to say the least) of the past and makes it easy to be attentive with the help of
sounds, movies, animations, and interactivity (Hajick).

Pros And Cons Of Residential Solar Power
This project is to identify the feasibility of residential solar power applications for the end user,
and any pros/cons and cost analysis of any such undertaking. We will compile existing data to
identify how much grid electricity the average US household uses, how much they pay per
kilowatthour (kWh), and compare it to the cost of installing solar powersystem. Taking into
consideration environmental effects, government incentives, and pure electricity cost savings over
time, we will demonstrate that every American would benefit by moving from grid electricity to
solar power, even if opting for a partial grid or grid tie in solar system.

Solar power is not consistent or reliable enough to be the only option for power. This technology
relies totally on the sun so certain days we will be able to produce more power than others and at
night we might not be able to produce any. Which is why we will not be able to completely
sever the tie to conventional power generation. There has to be a method available to generate
enough power to meet demand without available sunlight. Although as technology progresses
we may soon be able to generate power from solar sources 24 hours a day. Modern solar power
towers are being designed to store excess heat transfer medium underground during the day as its
heated and recycling it at night to continue to generate steam for power production (Mills, 2004).
But even with this ability we will not be able to go solely to solar power but it can still supplement
existing power and drastically reduce the country s carbon

The Vikings Research Paper
The Vikings are known for being some of history s most ruthless invaders. Norseman who pillaged
every town they came upon and destroyed any military resistance to their extensive raids. Starting
in the Scandinavian countries of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark the seafarers began extending the
scope of their raids and influence, eventually wintering overseas. Two modern day countries
Englandand France, once empires and kingdoms, were particularly targeted throughout the Vikings
long history. Viking raids happened fast and were effective, often leaving villages in ruins, having
been pillaged by the fearless warriors. Their naval power was unmatched at the time which gave

Vikings negatively impacted political leaders in England by occupying their lands. These Anglo
Saxon kings tried to buy off the Vikings from their kingdoms to remove them (Davis). Following
the occupation of these smaller kingdoms, the Vikings moved in to Mercia, or central England,
as well as East Anglia and North Umbria from 865 CE to 879 CE (Davis). The Vikings killed
King Edmund of East Anglia and occupied his lands (Davis). Over 150 years later, in 1013
1016, Viking invasions aiming at the conquest of England forced English king Ethelred II and
his son Canute to flee from their kingdom in England to Normandy for safety from the Vikings
(Davis). The Vikings negatively influenced these ruling political leaders due to the occupation of
their lands and harm or threats to them by the Vikings. Vikings negatively impacted religious
leaders in France through attacking towns and churches, taking their resources, and displacing
centers for Christian church. During their 9th century raids in France, the Vikings were said to
have caused a wave of fear and revulsion even to religious leaders. One religious leader, the
Bishop of Meaux, described the Vikings as harsh, cruel, greedy, and insatiable as they used their
swords to destroy all the beauty in the region and gave up everything to a devouring flame. The

  • 3. Essay on Definition of Home Schooling Definition of Home Schooling What is home schooling? Home schooling is defined as a provision of compulsory education in the home as an alternative to traditional public/private schooling often motivated by parental desire to exclude their children from the traditional school environment (Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), 1999). Parents homeschool their children in many different ways. The techniques vary from traditional ways of teaching using textbooks, to community activism, to the study of classic literature and Latin, and many versions in between (Ransom, 2001; Izhizuka et. al., 2000). The state of Maryland does not set forth any specific qualifications that must be met by the person homeschooling a child. In contrast, the person home schooling a child in Virginia must have at least a four year college degree, use a pre approved curriculum course, or have their curriculum pre approved before the start of the school year. Students in Virginia are also required to receive instruction for the same number of days as those children in public schools. Virginia homeschoolers are required to take one state test, in which they must score in the 40th percentile of the test population (which is given to all Virginia students) to continue homeschooling through the next year (Ishizuka et. al., 2000). District of Columbia law sets no specific requirements for the person homeschooling the child and does not test the children being homeschooled in any way. Reasons Parents Choose to Homeschool One homeschooling mother says public schools have forgotten about educating (Cloud et. al., 2001). Some parents are scared to send their children to public schools, due to the number of school shootings that have occurred within the last 10 years (Parents Shout Out, 2001). After the shootings in Littleton, Colorado, some homeschooling leaders reported a growing number of parents inquiring about home educating their children (Ishizuka et. al., 2000). • 4. Pros And Cons Of Television On TV According to Juliet Schor, TV has been considered as a promoter of consumerism or TV is a popular alternative way to costing a lot of spending such as concerts, restaurants, and shopping. Therefore, the more TV a person watches, the more he/she will spend. In other words, what we see on TV every day inflates our sense of what s normal or what s not, and what we should be buying just to look like the lifestyle in TV. Ironically, the lifestyle depicted on TV are far different from the typically Americans lifestyle, because those characters in the TV are upper middle class with glamorous clothing or even the rich people. Besides, watching a lot of TV leads to a significant increase in crimerate. The most important crime is larceny. Because by watching those products on TV made people who didn t have that want to have and led to steal them. Likewise, by watching the TV, people have imbedded themselves in the unbearable lifestyle, which is filled with tennis courts, private planes, swimming pool, private cinema, private gym and separated vacation homes. By seeing these things, people start to feel the need to spend more than what they should, and care less about the consequences they re about to face. The role of luxury good advertisements does create many significant problems. Those ads such as cars, diamonds, perfume, dresses, and other expensive items have placed a wrong image in people s mind. • 5. Neel Noddings The concept of care and caring relationships vary from person to person. Author Nel Noddings addresses these concepts in her 2005 book The Challenge to Care in Schools: An Alternative Approach to Education. Once idea that Noddings discusses is caring for distant others; distant others would be the people you see on a day to day basis but are not connect with emotionally. She suggests that we are not obligated to care for distant others but I have a differing view. In my opinion, we are obligated to care for distant others by watching out for/warning others about dangers that may negatively impact their lives Caring for those who are not well connected with us as individuals is a delicate phenomenon. (Noddings, 2005) Finally, when we have the power and desire to act at a distance, it is tempting to initiate and control. We are too impatient or too confident or too puffed up with our own righteous sense of responsibility to listen and encourage initiative from others. (Noddings, 2005) Essentially, Noddings is trying to say that we human beings are too busy in our lives to worry about the wellbeing of those who are distant from us. It is difficult to care for distant others in Noddings sense of care because caring relationships require engrossment from carer to cared for, and acknowledgement of the engrossment from cared for to carer. ...we (here in the United States, for example) could not, as individuals, be obligated to care for starving children in Africa because there is no way for most of us to see caring through to its completion. We might sympathetically send $10 to Oxfam or some other relief organization, but we have no reliable method of knowing whether our money will be used to relieve hunger...I still think this is an accurate descriptive account of a major difficulty in trying to care at a distance. Questions like these go through people s minds right before they are about to act. The law is there obviously for people to follow, but that is not always the case. In A Few Good Men, within minutes of the movie. Lt. Daniel Kaffee was negotiating the law with Capt. Jack Ross about how long the two men on trial could go away to prison for. • 7. An Ethnography Of The Germanic Tribes Tacitus Germania, written roughly at the end of the first century AD, serves as an ethnography of the Germanic tribes and aims to provide concrete analysis of the fundamental aspects of barbaric society. However, historians often note the significant difficulties with the work particularly when observing the source of Tacitus information on the Germanic tribes. Additionally, stemming from the uncertain origin of Tacitus knowledge of barbaric society surfaces various tensions naturally produced by the structure of the work. Of specific interest lies the notion of Roman stereotypes of the Germanic tribes. The Germania presents the reader with a type of rhetorical puzzle whereby a fine line exists between Tacitus beliefs regarding the Germanic tribes, and his intent for writing the work. Although Tacitus seems to ultimately sympathize with the morality and courage of the barbarians, the Germania, in an effort to appeal to his Roman audience, subtly references Roman stereotypes regarding the need for Roman expansion into the barbaric territory. Edward James, a medieval era historian, describes the Roman perspective on barbarian culture. Early in his work, entitled Europe s Barbarians, AD 200 600, he states the origin of the word barbarian in Roman culture: Primarily it meant non Roman, someone who came from outside the Roman Empire; but secondarily it meant barbarous , that is, someone who was not civilized. Just like Abraham, Saint Elizabeth was patient and gained what she had longed for through the grace of God. Imagine that you are Saint Elizabeth. You are disappointed that you were never blessed with a child, but you never become bitter from it. You are always humble and put God first. You and Zechariah pray every day for a child. SaintElizabeth of the Visitation, who is still venerated in the Church today, was the cousin of Mary, the mother of John the Baptist, and the first to acknowledge the importance Mary s pregnancy. • 16. Analysis Of The Book Cordelia Achen The Role of the Cone in Book One Cordelia Achen As the title suggests, Apollonius Conics deals with the various conic sections, shapes that arise when one cuts the cone in different ways. However, we leave the cone rather quickly in our foray into the conic sections, exploring the parabola, hyperbola, circle, and ellipse as they exist outside the cone and the various line relationships that comprise them. After we find the diameter for these sections, the cone makes a sudden reappearance as we construct the conic sections from given lines and angles. Why do we return to the cone? Why leave it in the first place? What the cone gives in book one of Apollonius is the curved line for each of the shapes. Its absence allows us to see more relationships between the conic sections, and its reappearance demonstrates how much farther we have to go before truly understanding curvature. Each of the conic sections are defined by curve, and this curve is given to them by the way they are cut from the cone. The circle, for instance, found in any section cut parallel to the base, has a completely regular curve and is bound wholly within the cone. Thus the line joins in on itself. The parabola, however, which is found in any section parallel to one side of the axial triangle or when the diameter meets the axial triangle before the vertex, has a less regular curve because it follows a different part of the conic section. The parabola also never meets itself because it is not bound by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Analysis Of Ashes By Susan Beth Pfeffer In the short story called, Ashes by Susan Beth Pfeffer, the protagonist is dealing with the complicated relationship between her divorced parents. Ashleigh, the main character, is questioned by her dad if she can borrow her mom s money for his own problems. Ashes, short for Ashleigh, like the compliments that she keeps receiving from her dad. Ashes complex relationship with her parents makes her choose between her mom or her dad. One lesson this story suggests is that no matter how much you love someone, you have to let them handle things on their own. In the beginning of the story, the readers can understand that is Ashes talking about her parents. Her mom is a practical person and always ready for anything, extra batteries for flashlights during a blackout or extra coins for laundry and her dad on the other hand, is an easygoing, carefree and willingness to help. In the story it says, ... All I can give you is dreams, Ashes. But one good dream is worth a thousand flashlight batteries. This provides an explanation of how her dad can only give her dreams and nothing else. He called her a name that made her feel special, something her mom did not do, and her mom did not promise things she could not fulfill. There is a part in the beginning of the story where Ashes, says When I was little, Dad used to promise me the stars for a necklace, but like most of his promises, that one never quite happened. • 22. The Importance Of Mutualism Between Animal And Animal Species It is a kind of positive interspecific interaction in which members of two different species favor the growth and survival of each other and their association is obligatory. Species A = (+) Species B = (+) In this interaction, the members have widely different requirements and so interdependent that they cannot survive separately. It is an extreme type of symbiosis in which symbionts have permanent and obligatory close contacts. 1.Mutualism between animal and animal species Cleveland (1926) reported the presence of a multi flagellate protozoan Trichonympha Campanula as a symbiont in the intestine of white ant termite. The ant provides food and shelter to the protozoan which in turn secretes cellulase enzymes to digest the cellulose of wood ingested by the ant. Cellulose is hydrolyzed to sugars which are used by both the partners. When the gut lining of Termite is ready for molting, Trichonympha undergoes encystment and are passed out with molting. To ensure infection, the ant eats its molt. Newly hatched termites lick the anus of the older termites to ingest the symbiont. About 11 families and 40 genera of flagellates have been reported from the intestine of termites. • 23. Homeless Problem Essay Homeless problem is easier to solve than to manage (Malcolm Gladwell). It is so difficult to find a good answer for this issue, but the most moral solution for the homeless problem is to give them a free apartment and take care of them, if they have injuries, like mental illness or addictions. This is a good resolution because they need something to start with a new life, and this solution is a good way for a new beginning, as they don t own a home and neither money to buy food. Even though giving a free apartment to the homeless could seem unfair to those citizens who are working every day and don t own so much money to live, these citizens have to think about the lack of possibilities the homeless have living in the streets, a Care issue. So what it would be done is that they will share an apartment with the essential needs to live and with a weekly review for their health. At the beginning care issue is more important than fair because homeless people don t have anything to start with, so they can t find work with their appearance, as the bosses look for people who appears good and have a stable situation. Bottled water may seem innocent but it needs to be treated with extreme care and caution. Even though bottled water may seem safe, it could contain many toxins. By drinking from a plastic water bottle, people should consider if it is really worth the cost of paying for the actual bottle itself. People should also consider the long term effects it can have on the earth as well as the effects it can have on the human body. Bottled waterhas always gave the impression of being cost efficient and safe, but when put to the test are they harming people more than what is suspected of the so called harmless water bottle? Many people will enter a super market without thinking and purchase a case of bottled water. On average a case of bottled water costs approximately six dollars, a normal family of four will consume on average a whole case of water in a week. The cost of bottled water for a month would be an estimated twenty four dollars and the average cost of bottled water for a year would be an estimated 314 dollars. Bottled water is an important choice in situations where there is a lack of water fountains or concern about the quality but some families might question where else they could use this money and benefit from it increasingly more (Lauria 665). From there, they spread out all over Africa. Then they moved out of Africa into Southwestern Asia. They migrated toward Europe and from Eastern Asia down through the Pacific Islands and Australia. Many historians argue over how humans populated the Americas, but most believe that they traveled on a land bride, connecting Russia to North America during the Ice age. Once they reached North America, the Paleolithic people migrated downward until they reached the tip of South America. The spread of the human species an impressive achievement of the Paleolithic Age. B.Agriculture was started during the Neolithic Revolution. The people in the Middle East were the first to develop farming. Gradually, the knowledge spread to other communities in South Africa, India, North China, and Southeast Asia. Agriculture emerged because of the end of the Ice Age. It became harder to hind animals to hunt and farming provided a reliable source of food. C.Sedentary agriculture lead to many changes in society. Farming gave people a reliable resource for food, which could support a lot more people compared to hunting. • 27. Social And Negative Effects Of Interracial Marriage America socially and culturally has come a long way with desegregation, as one in six U.S. newlyweds (17%) were married to a person of a different race or ethnicity in 2015, a more than fivefold increase from 3% in 1967 (Kristen Bialik n.p.). The reason behind this is because about 50 years ago, there were many laws put in place that bans interracial marriage. However, the situation changed when a when a white man and a black woman, the Lovings, violated Virginia s Racial Integrity Act of 1924, which prohibited interracial marriage. The Lovings were sentenced to a year in prison but they brought their case before the Supreme Court and their love won. In 1967, the justices ruled in their favor in Loving vs. Virginia, thereby invalidating all racebased restrictions on interracial marriage in the United States (Story Hinckley n.p.). With just one family resisting the laws, it changed the perspective of the whole world as they proved that it was wrong to deny the freedom of marrying whoever you wanted. Although people are slowly trying to become more accepting of different views towards mixed marriage, families dealing with this situation are experiencing negative and positive reactions from society. Children, in particular, show the most concern regarding the impact interracial marriage has on their social and physiological issues. Parents play a crucial role in a child s development as they provide the first experience in life that influences the future. The atmosphere of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Feelings of terrify if they do not perform well and anxiety of the awaiting punishments are those that motivate them to act. These feelings are basically created by regular excessive trainings. Tools, including bull hook, electric pads, metal rods, and drugs, are used simultaneously in the training sessions. Elephants, despite their thick skins, are very sensitive in several parts, particularly under their chins, behind their ears, and around their eyes. Trainers would use these weaknesses, striking them with pointed bull hook, as their aces to control the elephants. Teeth of the animals are plunged with hammer, reducing the risks of trainers being bitten and make them more manageable. Drugs are injected and given to some of the animals, particularly to alter their moods and to stabilize them in desirable conditions. • 43. The Benefits of Xenotransplantation Essay The Benefits of Xenotransplantation New technology has opened many doors of opportunity for advancements in medical science. Not even in our wildest dreams would we have imagined a world where animal organs could be safely transplanted into humans. A few years ago, this process called xenotransplantation, was completed for the very first time. The only dilemma critics had with the process involved the chances of infection and organ rejection from the patient. Through experimentation and advances made in the process, these problems have been greatly reduced. Some doctors believe that xenotransplantation will perfect our world one transplant at a time by providing an alternate route to waiting on donor lists. Xenotransplantation is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of an experiment that lacks a purpose and may be open for ethical debate would be when scientists blowtorched pigs with no painkillers and observed to see how they responded to third degree burns (MacKenzie 424). Notice the difference between this experiment and research for xenotransplantation? Experiments on animals for xenotransplantation research have a great use for human medicine since the process may very well be our solution to lengthy donor lists and organ shortages. An estimated 65,000 Americans suffering from organ failure are currently waiting for an organ transplant and the number is continuously growing (Fung 54). Many people die each year because suitable donors are not found in time, so any progress towards expanding the number of organs available for transplantation will eventually save human lives. Since pigs are of similar size and anatomy to humans they are the preferred animals for transplants, even over apes (Kaebnick 7). The fact that pigs are used over apes actually suppresses animal rights activist s debate on the ethical standpoint since pigs are not endangered. Xenotransplantation is an important advancement in medical science because of the positive impacts the process has on humans, such as saving lives and providing an alternative to waiting on a lengthy donor list when ... I will also delve into the visual aspect in the wide spectrum of multimedia to show what it consists of and for a better understanding as to how it fits in. Multimedia first began with games but Web pages, interactive courses, and catalogs with sound and video have now dominated the stage. Not long ago, the term multimedia referred to a room full of slide projectors, tape decks, and movie projectors. Multimedia presentations were hard to put together and even harder to run. Many of them took weeks of preparation and they were then shown only once (Curtin 217). The computer has changed all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no question that multimedia can improve the quality of games and this is shown through such creations as Playstation. In the end, it is that very game like quality that can enhance a learning experience. Parents watching their children play innovative games see how powerful multimedia is at teaching them how to read or solve math problems even thought the children perceive the experience as just a game. Building on the power of this perception, innovators have increasingly used multimedia to support all kinds of activities that are not just games ( Partial Project List ). As computer applications programs become more complex, software publishers are building multimedia presentations into their programs to introduce new features and walk the user through them. In companies, this form of presentation will take a big load off the overworked technical support staff (Curtin 218). For individuals at home or in small businesses, it will make programs easier to learn and use. Multimedia is extensively used for education and training in schools, businesses, and the home. Education that implements multimedia allows you to proceed at your own pace. This technology relies totally on the sun so certain days we will be able to produce more power than others and at night we might not be able to produce any. Although as technology progresses we may soon be able to generate power from solar sources 24 hours a day. Modern solar power towers are being designed to store excess heat transfer medium underground during the day as its heated and recycling it at night to continue to generate steam for power production (Mills, 2004).
