Religion And Culture In Where The Gods Fly By Jean Kwork
Where the gods fly
As an immigrant it can be hard to integrate into a new country. There are new rules that you need to
follow, a new culture to fit into and a whole new life to begin. You have to choose between three
different ways of integrating into the new country: firstly, you can fully let go of your old traditions
and become a part of the new culture, secondly you can keep you own traditions and isolate yourself
from the influence from the new country, or lastly, you can mix the two cultures and take the best parts
of them. In the short story Where the gods fly written by Jean Kwork, religion and culture becomes a
huge influence on the decisions a Chinese immigrant mother takes for her daughter, which I will
analyse in the following essay. The essay will include a resume, it will deal with the story s structure
and the use of contrasts.
Where the gods fly is a short story about a Chinese immigrant family that move to New York.
The parents work at a factory in Chinatown and because they do not want to leave their daughter,
Pearl, alone, they sign her up for a ballet class. Pearl becomes extraordinary good at ballet, but
because her mother does not deem ballet as a valid future choice also including the fact that she deems
it too good for them, she has decided to make Pearl quite ballet.
The main structure of the story is not how a typical novel is build up. The short story starts in media
res with a line about how the main character is kneeling in front of the gods. This is followed by a
foreshadowing about a ballet story that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy History
The History, Indications, and Treatments of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

The History, Indications, and Treatment Options of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a fairly old concept, but until the 1930 s its full benefits were not fully
understood. Today though, HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen therapy) is used for numerous benefits.
Whether its professional athletes using the increased oxygen in their blood to heal faster from the
rigors of their sport, or to diabetics trying to fix lower extremity wounds by forcing oxygen past the
barriers their disease has created. The overall goal of HBOT according to Indications for hyperbaric

Also, the great thing about HBOT is that it can be used as a complimentary treatment in conjunction
with other therapies, and thereby increasing the chances of success. It has been scientifically known
for a long time that oxygen is one of the main driving forces behind our bodies ability to self heal. So
by adding even more oxygen into the blood HBOT increases our bodies natural healing abilities.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has helped many with its long history, and as time goes on and technology
increases it will be able to help even more

Persuasive Essay On Bigfoot
Bigfoot (or Sasquatch ) is a tall, dark haired cryptid humanoid that has become a mystery to the
American people. Unfortunately, many believe that the furry beast is simply a hoax, while others
know what they saw in the mysterious forest. Based on countless discoveries, Bigfoot has existed at
some point. Considering the proof presented by dedicated Bigfoot scientists and fans, totally
debunking the controversial topic of Bigfoot would seem ignorant. Perhaps people are not digging
deep enough to find the creature. The quest began when Bigfoot was captured on film for the first time
by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin. In the year of 1967, the two men were out in a remote
mountainous location in Northern California. After Patterson heard about the tracks found near Bluff
Creek, he was determined to make a documentary about the mysteries of the Sasquatch. Buoyant, he
rented a 16mm movie camera and went to the area in question with his comrade, Bob Gimlin. He
caught the beast on camera casually strolling through an open clearing, staring at Patterson filming
while continuing to walk. The film became known as the Patterson Gimlin film. According to Animal
Planet, The Patterson Gimlin film is widely regarded as one of the strongest pieces of evidence for the
existence of Sasquatches, ( The Patterson Gimlin footage ).

Education And Liberal Arts Education
A study in general education (liberal arts) affects different aspects of my development both physically
and mentally. A liberal arts education has shaped the form I conceive and return over individual
circumstances. After attending class and reading all the benefits of a liberal arts education it has
shaped the direction I held regarding a Liberal Arts education. A liberal arts education has shifted the
way I study and the process I go about completing my school work. Furthermore, from the manner I
organize my day to the way I organize my goals, a liberal arts education really shaped the way I do my
everyday schedule. The liberal arts class changed me into a greater adapted, more efficient and
effective member of society. A liberal arts education taught me the value and efficiency of critical and
independent thinker. Within the real world, an individual who can show aforementioned qualities is
higher valued than the person who cannot. With a liberal arts education, you are more fit to acquire
and exhibit these skills. A liberal arts education are intended to broaden the general knowledge and
experiences of the students, and the class accomplished just that. The class affected my mentality
about school and the way I see the real world.
The meaning and purpose of a liberal arts education are to achieve education further than merely
college core, but also to prepare you for future occupations. A liberal arts education introduces

Essay on Stereotypes in media
Bringing Down the House featuring Steve Martin and Queen Latifah is a clever comedy that
creatively showcases the sociolinguistic phenomena covered in this course. The film is about a tax
attorney named Peter, played by Martin, who stumbles into an online lawyer chat room and meets
Charlene, played by Latifah. The two chat frequently, mostly about court cases, and eventually decide
to meet in person. When the day finally comes, Peter is greeted at the door with who he thought would
be a middle aged Caucasian woman, but happened to be Charlene, a black woman who just escaped
from prison. Thinking this was a mistake, Peter tries to kick out Charlene but is later convinced she is

In attempt to do so, he uses Sarah s language that he believes she would be more inclined to listen to.
The father s usage of the modern hip hop language is an example of generational conflict. Implied by
other clips in the movie, we conclude the father s environment as an attorney requires him to use a
more conservative language that has been more or less designated to his generation. This contrasts
with the daughters modern and hip hop language that incorporates many slang terminologies, non
standard English sentences and phrases, and a very relaxed tone. Although we see the father is able to
put a couple sentences together, everything from his tone and range clearly show his inexperience to
the speech. An example to showcase his failure is when he attempts to say an he try da get al up in dat.
The father used the same expression but with different pronunciation. Peter says and he tried to get all
up in that, which is clearly too formal for this speech and loses the flavor of what makes the language
so authentic to the hip hop generation. Peter and Sarah both speak standard English, but this is another
example of how it can vary. Even though the two are family and from the same class, their generation
gap influences the variation of English they speak.

Staples And Office Depot Inc.
Staples and Office Depot Inc. are both office supply chains. Today both companies are doing great
considering where they came from and their competitive market. It is safe to say Staples has more
than 2000 stores while Office Depot has above 1600 stores throughout the world. According to the
case they were both originated in 1986 and while being founded early on over the next decade they
and additional office supply chains have contended belligerently in order to provide a suitable,
unfailing and inexpensive supply of office materials to smaller industries or businesses along with
other persons who have home offices. Staples and Office Depot have been extremely victorious in the
field of office supplies. They have kicked out hundreds and thousands of individual privately owned
businesses out of selling and abolished even few competitors in the office supply market by getting
hold of their business or economic failure of their business. By 1996 they had only one existing
contestant which even till today I remember and that is OfficeMax. Office Depot has been very
insistent, in addition, Staples and OfficeMax are to participate more assertively as well. The office
supply prices for staples are the cheapest in the cities that all three of the nationwide office supply
chains staples, office depot, and office max compete. Prices reach higher in the markets that only the
additional competitor is OfficeMax. Office Depot incriminates drastically with increased prices that

How Did The Clock Impact The Ancient World
Many of the greatest inventions ever to be created were coined in ancient China. Soap, gunpowder,
even alcohol was first made in China, long ago. The clock, however, is, I believe, the most important
of all the great chinese inventions. It tells us when to get up in the morning, when to be at school, at
work, how long to brush your teeth, everything! The world runs completely on time, and it s all
because of a certain man who changed the course of the future by just wanting to find out how to tell
time more precisely than sundials and non mechanical water clocks.. Yi Xing, who developed the clock
and who lived during the Tang Dynasty in the Chinese Civilization, impacted both the ancient and
modern world by inventing the most impactful invention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yi Xing, the inventor of the first clock, originally invented it for horoscopes, astronomical purposes,
and of course the time of day. Now, of course, we use it for much more then that. The whole human
society runs by the clock, and without the development of this specific clock, time would be
completely different. It would be like missing the first step on the stairs. You would fall down them
and land on your face. Where would that put time now? Would we still be stuck on sundials and
shadows? Maybe people would have abandoned that time set, and adopted a whole other system of
time. People would have different intervals of time, different ways of telling time, different
everything! However, the clock was made, and so no one even notices because they are too busy
running off to the next place. All because of time. Too bad Xing s clock didn t make time longer! The
clock Z=Xing made is very important for today s society. Even if it was too futuristic for its time and
wasn t used too often, the design for this clock was used time and time again, and it developed into the

Viewing America with Geology Essay
America has changed through the years in many ways. Medicine has improved, average standard of
living has risen, and the overall quality of life has changed drastically over the course of time. Yet,
these are all short term ideals when taken into the whole picture. Although all of this is important, to
truly understand the actual face of America, we have to think farther back than a few hundred years.
The face of America can best be portrayed in thinking about how America looks the way it does.

are? These types of questions are important because once you figure out why certain areas have the

This is one, but not the only way to make the phenomenon we know as earthquakes. This fault has not
only caused trouble in the past but is likely to bring devastating destruction in the relatively near
future. San Francisco had an earthquake, because of this fault, in April 1906 killing over 700 people
and causing millions in damage (San). If a new earthquake were to happen it would kill thousands of
American citizens along the west coast. Consequently, there would be a major drop in population over
there which could reduce the amount of production created in this region all tying back into why the
geological aspect of America is a main determining factor for seeing the importance of why America

the United States is Yellowstone Park. Yellowstone is an extraordinary example of a caldera which is
defined as a volcanic crater that has a diameter many times that of the vent and is formed by collapse
of the central part of a volcano or by explosions of extraordinary violence (USGS). Since Yellowstone
is a caldera, it means that there had been previous volcanic eruptions in this area and in this case two
eruptions. The first explosion happened over 2,000,000 years ago because the composition of the
magma contained vast traces of explosive matter that caused the eruption (USGS). The second
incident happened around

The enduring nature and extensive range of the debate about dividend policy has spawned a vast
amount of literature that grows by the day. For this reason, a full review of all debates is not feasible1.
However, this paper endeavours to give justice to the importance of both the topic of dividend policy
as an area of financial economic research, and also to the literature that has been produced addressing
that topic, by reviewing the most important and influential studies in this area. It attempts to outline
the main theories and explanations of dividend policies and to review the main empirical studies on
corporate dividend policy. The remaining of this paper is organized as follows. Section 2 gives a short
background of corporate dividend policy. Section 3 analyses the theories of dividend policy starting
with the dividend irrelevance hypothesis of Miller and Modigliani, and then the alternative hypotheses
including bird inthe hand, tax preference, clientele effects, signalling, and agency costs hypotheses.
Section 4 summarises the paper.
2. Background of Corporate Dividend Policy2
The issue of corporate dividends has a long history and, as Frankfurter and Wood (1997) observed, is
bound up with the development of the corporate form itself. Corporate dividends date back at least to
the early sixteenth century in Holland and Great Britain when the captains of sixteenth century sailing
ships started selling financial claims to investors, which

Wicca Vs Witchcraft
Wicca: More Than Witchcraft Wicca is an eclectic religious belief system centering around gods,
goddesses, and nature worship(2). Like Christianity; there are many different spiritual paths within the
Wiccan religion. Unlike Christianity; there is a belief in more than one god. The details of these deities
vary among individuals. This religion is attractive for many people who do not desire or appreciate
absolute truths(2). There is no bible, no head religious leader, and no belief in rewards or punishments
after death, only reincarnation. No matter the path one follows in Wicca, their beliefs and practices
will be centered around the balance between the god and goddess, holding nature as sacred, and

It is understandably very difficult to get past the witchcraft and view Wicca as a normal religion, when
witchcraft has always been said to be a satanic force. Wiccans do not believe in the existence of a
devil (they are not Satan worshippers)(2). Although the horned god has often been mistaken for the
devil by Christians, the two entities have no connection. As stated before, there is no ultimate good or
evil, sin is not a recognized concept either. Many will argue against this by bringing up the pentacle,
which is often mistaken for the pentagram. The five points on both stars represent the four elements,
plus the spirit. The difference between the two is that the fifth point is pointed up on the pentacle, and
down on the pentagram. The pentacle places the spirit at the top, sending a positive message. As far as
satanic practices go, no animal sacrifices will be taking place in Wicca. The life of another is too
sacred to allow this to happen. Bowls of flowers, crystals, and food are given as offerings

Romeo And Juliet Balcony Scene Analysis
The balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet is a well remembered scene in Romeo and Juliet. Although,
there are different versions of it in different movies and plays. I m comparing the balcony scene
between the original script and the 1997 movie. There are a lot of differences, with not as many
similarities. It seems as a more modern day version... There are some key details in both the movie
and the script. Some key details in the play are that Romeo hides in the darkness, and that he is
stalking Juliet in a way. It also takes place on a balcony near the streets, [Seeing Juliet enter above on
a balcony] (Act II Scene 2, Page 71) which is a lot more in older days than modern. In the movie
version, some key details are that Romeo is hidden on a vine, not so much hidden though.(You can see
in the 1997 movie, Romeo + Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann.) The setting is also on a deck and a
pool. Those are some of the key details you will need to know. Now, I will explain the differences
between the original script and the movie. One pretty noticable difference is that the setting is a lot
different. In the script, the setting is on the balcony, and is definitely a way less modern version,
almost like a cliche love scene. In the 1997 movie, the setting isn t even on a balcony, it is on a back
porch with a pool. This takes away the whole cliche love scene in the original script, and as I feel
takes away some of the meaning of the original. It also is a lot more modern, because there aren t as
many balconies in modern day houses now, which makes sense why the didn t put one, therefore it is
an older and more modern day version. Another big difference between the two is that in the script,
they don t have a pool that they jump into and kiss, but in the 1997 movie they do. Romeo and Juliet
go into the pool together and kiss, when in the script they talk from a distance and then meet at her
balcony. I think they did this also because it was made to be more modern, but they kept more of the
cliche love scene. The last difference I will talk about is in the script, romeo hides in the darkness
unseen, I have the darkness to hide me from their eyes... (Act II Scene 2, page 75) while Juliet walks
out onto her balcony and talks

Women s Struggle For Women By Susan B. Anthony, Sarah And...
Throughout history, women have struggled to show their value juxtaposed to men. Women are often
downgraded economically, politically and socially just because they are female s. The struggle
between women in the 1800s is similar to the struggle women have now. Equal rights for women are
still being campaigned now as much as it was during the 1800s (Richard Chused). The connotation of
feminism has been created to be a negative word .Just like people believe women should be equal to
men, many others believe otherwise. Susan B. Anthony, Sarah and Angelina Grimke, and Lucy Stone
are only a few of the many woman rights activist during the 1800s. Well know celebrities also help
promote feminist movements like Beyonce with her song Flawless, Amber Rose and her Slut Walk
and even the well educated and activist Malala Yousafzai. Many of these women helped the growing
society have a better understanding of the inequality women face on a daily bases by forming alliances
and supporting each other to fight for equality similarly to the first Seneca Fall Convention, which was
formed in 1848 and many organizations formed today like The Institute for Women Policy Research
and The National Organization for Women, has helped developed the fight for equality. During the
19th century the only responsibilities women had was to take care of the family and their households.
In 1800s America, women were almost always constrained to work in the home, rearing children,

An Effective System For Lossless Image Compression
Abstract In this paper, we proposed an effective system for lossless image compression using different
wavelet transform such as the stationary wavelet transform, the non decimated wavelet transform, and
discrete wavelet transform with delta encoding and compare the results without delta encoding. With
the development in the field of networking in the process of sending and receiving files needed to
effective techniques for image compression as the raw images required large amounts of disk space to
defect during transportation and storage operations. We used lossless compression to maintain the
original features of the image in this process; there is a major problem which often is low compression
ratios. We also use three types of wavelet transform which are discrete wavelet transform, non
decimated wavelet transform, and stationary wavelet transform to demonstrate the effectiveness of the
proposed system for comparison and to show the differences between each type to overcome previous
challenges. This paper proposed a system for lossless image compression based on the use of the three
types of wavelet transforms using Arithmetic coding and Huffman coding with delta coding, which
helps in the high compression ratio to clarify the extent of the difference and distinction between each
type. The results show that the stationary wavelet transform outperforms the non decimated wavelet
transform and the discrete wavelet transform and with delta encoding outperforms without delta

Advantages Of The Battle Of Agincourt
French Drawbacks The Battle of Agincourt could have, and should have, been an easy victory for the
French. They outnumbered their opponent with fresh troops and fought on their own turf. All signs
pointed to victory. However, this caused them to become overconfident, which led to hasty decisions
as well as the neglect to consider terrain and prior encounters with palings. Intelligence Assets Spies
have always been a part of warfare in one form or another. Christine de Pisan s book The Book of
Deeds of Arms and of Chivalry (as cited in Arthurson, 2013) suggested that one should be curiose

intelligence on the status of enemy formations and their disposition. Both the English and French used
scouts as Henry s army marched toward Calais. In one instance, English scouts found six thousand
French guarding a river crossing that forced them to find another route. Similarly, the French tracked
the progress of Henry s army to block his advance as they amassed troops. From their scouts, the
French also learned that the English were few, short on supplies, and weary from the march and
illness. Such an easy target excited the French, who rushed ahead to intercept Henry and his forces
before they could escape. Additionally, this attracted many French nobles, eager to take part in the

Jurassic Park, By John Hammond Essay
From the very first, Welcome to Jurassic Park, given by John Hammond, audiences have been
captivated with the idea of dinosaurs. Steven Spielberg s Jurassic Park series has a plethora of strong
female characters, from Dr. Ellie Sattler to the infamous Tyrannosaurus Rex herself. In 2015, the
blockbuster film Jurassic World, directed by Colin Trevorrow, hit theaters, adding itself to the dinosaur
lineage. The plot takes place twenty two years after the first film.
The park has now reopened, and there is no room for error, especially with the women depicted in the
movie. Jurassic Park has a reputation of giving audiences strong female characters both human and
dinosaur. With Jurassic World comes a whole set of new characters, new creatures, and new couture.
However, despite modern advances with feminism, Jurassic World does not quite meet the standards
Jurassic Park first presented in 1993. While World definitely does have feminist attributes, and even
has elements of the femme fatale, the film takes a long step backwards from the first film.
Fans from the beginning of the series will automatically know that all the dinosaurs in
Jurassic Park and Jurassic World are female. They will also remember Ian Malcolm s realization:
God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates
dinosaurs, which is quickly followed up by Ellie saying, Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the
Earth, followed by a worried look from Malcolm and a smile

Evaluation Of An Action Research Project
Evaluation of an Action Research Project
In action research, an individual or a group of colleagues applies scientific methods to real life
problems or issues occurring within a work or educational environment (Conscious Educating,
2009a). According to Dr. Waddell, action research seeks to accomplish two goals, which are to
stimulate learning and make a difference (Waddell, 2007). Teachers, researchers, and administrators
all evaluate, investigate, and analyze problems or concepts in hopes of improving them and thereby
benefiting students, the classroom environment, and their own teaching practices.
Ms. Senter, an English teacher, is researching the benefits of adding a fantasy unit to her eleventh
grade English curriculum. She wants to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Ary et al. (2015), Action research allows educators to focus on an issue that directly
relates to their learning environment (p. 549).
Step 2, Plan, involves taking action gathering data or information by observing or monitoring the
effects. Ms. Senter set out to find information regarding a fantasy unit. Through her research, she was
able to locate ready made units on science fiction but not on fantasy. The benefit of action research is
that it encourages collaboration and the development of learning communities (Ary et al., 2015, p.
550). Ms. Senter collaborated with fellow English teachers, then realized that she still needs more
resources and support. Accordingly, she drew on the local library for extra support, deepening her
knowledge and gaining materials to help her design her own nine week instructional unit on fantasy to
add to her eleventh grade literature curriculum.
Step 3, Act, sees the practitioner implementing a plan of action. Ms. Senter has completed her unit on
fantasy and has developed her unit based on four major themes: (1) fantasy as a unique literary form
that emphasizes imagination and magic, with stories often set in an imaginary place; (2) fantasy s use
of elements also found in other novels (character, setting, plot, theme); (3) fantasy stories multiple
levels of meaning; and (4) fantasy s use of the usual pattern of narrative progression (background,
build up, climax, resolution). Ms. Senter selected

Don T Blame The Eater Summary
Don t Blame the Eater by David Zinczenko, emphasizes the relationship between obesity in children
and fast food restaurants. As a child, Zinczenko ate at many types of fast food restaurants, because his
parents were too busy to cook for him. He had the option to eat at fast food because his neighborhood
was invaded by them, eventually that contributed to his obesity and by age 15 he had packed 212

Should Children Be Restricted To Media Screens Analysis
In my opinion children should not be restricted from spending time in front of media screens. One
reason why children should nt be restricted to media screens is because teconology gives children who
are visual learners acces to educational videos where they would learn faster than reading about it.
Another reason is because since 2015 the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) changed their
guidelines for children screen watching. They now support children and parents to play video games
together. Also children have showed researchers that watching TV with their parents has reduced
anger and fear. Children who are visual learners have a hard time following instructions. For example

Examples Of Government Intervention
In today s world, government intervention still divides the nation. We mainly witness this division
during politics, with democrats and republicans. Government intervention increased immensely after
the Great Depression. This is because of the fact that before the Great Depression, investors were
freely using their money buying and spending, without any regulations, leading to the stock market
crash. During the recession process, in order to land the economy back to a stable path, presidents and
other officials intervened to speed the process up. While some people believe that government
intervention should not be allowed, others believe that government intervention is beneficial to the
nation because it is able to put regulations among those who affect the economy. Government
interventions have allowed many helpful programs for Americans such as welfare, trade programs,
and tariff limitations. It also has placed a fairness on the economy, allowing an equivalence of prices
for the products that we buy and use on a daily basis. Some different types of government intervention
include subsidies, tax breaks, and inflation. During 1990 2002, government intervention became a
giant part of the marketplace in the United States. An example of this is during Bill Clinton s short
term presidency. Clinton enacted plans that helped increase the economy s growth. Another example
of this is during George W. Bush Jr s presidency term. His main goal of helping the economy as well

How Did Italian Immigrants In The Late 1800s
In the late 18th century, European migrants such as Germans, Polish, and Italians came to America to
start a better life, little did they know that coming to a new country such as America wouldn t be the
easiest. Many Germans, Polish, and Italian immigrants began searching for a new life in America in
the late 1800 s. As easy as they thought is was going to be, many immigrants had a tenacious time
being part of America. They needed to leave the country that they knew and their loved ones, hoping
their lives would improve after arriving in the United States. German immigrants moved to America
because of poverty, conversely being so indigent that they couldn t provide for themselves. They also
came to America to provide for their families whom they brought along. Polish immigrants came to
earn more money then the earned in Poland. Italian immigrants came to America to escape the wars
that were happening as well as pursuing a better economic opportunity. Immigration to America was a
time where European immigrants wanted to start a new life with their families. By the late 1800 s,
many German Immigrants wanted to start a fresh new life in America. Many came to America because
of poverty and overpopulation. They wanted to come to the land of freedom and opportunity. German
immigrants discovered America through other immigrants that came to America earlier. Farmers found
out through newspapers or handbooks. Many German peasants possessed some land, which they sold
to start their journey of coming into America. Had possessions or even some land which they could
sell to purchase their passage and to finance the start of their new life in America. There was plenty of
fertile land, and it was cheap (Cook 33). This clearly shows us the Germans wanted a better life where
they did not have to work as much in America. Many skilled craftsman also made their way in
America because of the demand of skilled labor. After finding out about the goodness of America,
many Germans came by steamships. These steamships or Dutch Ships were better at speed and were
cheap for immigrants, whereas sailing vessels took almost 6 weeks to travel. Many German
immigrants couldn t afford 1st or 2nd class tickets so they would come to America

Frankenstein Language Analysis
What is language? In the Merriam Webster dictionary language is defined as the system of words or
signs that people use to express thoughts and feelings to each other . This is a very broad definition
and captures so many of the tools that we use each and every day to communicate with each other. It
includes spoken or written words as well as non verbal cues and signs, including sign language. It also
captures systems of communication such as computer languages and braille. This is why an historical
figure like Helen Keller as referenced by Perkins.org ,who was deaf and blind was also able to acquire
language skills and give a voice to disabled people. She is a perfect example that language empowers
us to understand, question and change ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone uses language to influence others, whether it is in our small family world or the world in a
broader sense. Mark Pagel in his Ted talk, How language transformed humanity (ted.com) described
how language gives us the power to change the world as follows: I m talking about your language, of
course, because it allows you to implant a thought from your mind directly into someone else s mind .
Ultimately, language gives every one of us the power to effect change by using our knowledge and
opinions to influence others and the way we see the world. This is what the politicians and the media
in our society seek to do every day. The broader our knowledge of language and the subtleties of
language in our different spheres (home, work, society and planet), the more broadly we can effect
change. In Ru, for example, we learn that the physical language varies depending on the culture. If a
mark of affection can sometimes be taken for an insult, perhaps the gesture of love is not universal: it
too must be translated from one language to another, must be learned. (Thúy 96) In order to effect
change, we must have knowledge of these subtleties of language. Further, in the novel Frankenstein
the monster attempted to change his world by coercing Frankenstein into creating another monster
who would be his mate. Unfortunately, he did this by killing those

Buddhism Research Paper
Buddhism, as with any other religion, was created in a certain place at a certain time. Buddhism s
roots are formed in the idea that are part of the environment where it was created. One of the
important areas of this religion was the valley of the Ganges River. This river runs west to east across
most of the northern part of India. It was there that Buddhism first began and flourished. Later it
would spread to the southern part of India. During Buddha, which was around 500 B.C. this area was
undergoing a huge period of religious development.
The early years of Buddhism were shrouded in obscurity. One thing that was certain, was that, the
Sangha, which is the Buddhist order of the monks, survived the physical death, or what they referred
to as the Parinirvana of the Buddha. However the period between this event and the reemergence of
Buddhism in 250 B.C is not real clear. Buddhist tradition stated that there was a meeting, or a council
of some sort, that was held immediately following Buddha s death. The major focus of this meeting
was to stabilize the scriptures of Buddha, by coming to an agreement as to which scriptures spoken by
Buddha would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Coddling Of The American Mind
In Lukianoff and Haidt s essay, The Coddling of the American Mind, the authors contend today s
college students want to be protected from any words that might harm them. The authors argue doing
so harms them in other ways.
After reading the article I concur with the author s views on colleges coddling students who are
offended by words or small actions is doing more harm than good. The article covered the issues in
detail and gave many examples of the conception before the 1980 s when children could roam free in
the world with less worry for parents to where next generation who had more protective parents
because of the increase of kidnappings, removal of physical activities in school, school shootings, and
bullying after the 1980 s.The authors discuss how coddling is not good for students, society, the
workplace, government or the future. Coddling removes cognitive thinking and the use of good
critical thinking skills. Coddling will force students to think with emotion instead of logic. Society
will not always bend over backwards to appease ones feelings or change to make someone feel
comfortable. Thinking with emotions can create a fog that can hinder ones view of reality.
The coddling issue is leading the current generation who protest books or specific words that may be
offensive to them and others. Some claim that the offensive words can cause emotional triggers to a
bad experience that can lead to a dangerous outcome. I see this as whining to a degree and should

The Deviation Of Bid Prices
deviation of bid prices (a commonly used measure of dispersion in literature), quality weighted BPD,
distribution weighed BPD, and BPD with legitimate bids as alternative measures to check the
robustness of the measurement of BPD. We also note that measurement error is not a concern for all
other variables as our data was directly pulled from the firm database and the data recorded actual
transactions and the buyers and freelancers behaviors in the online labor market.
4.3.2 Buyer Contracting Model Specification
Since our dependent variable (buyer contract) is a binary variable, we estimate a logit model with
robust standard errors (Equation 3). is the latent utility a buyer i infers from project j. captures the
effect of BPD on the buyer s contract decisions. is a vector of the average freelancer s characteristics
like average experience, mean quality rating (control variables that affect the DV), and quality
dispersion (potential confounding factor that affects both the DV and BPD). The freelancer s average
experience and mean quality rating represents the average quality of the freelancers that a project
attracts. A buyer would have more high quality freelancers to choose from with a higher average
experience and mean rating, which may facilitate the buyer s contracting decision. Freelancer quality
dispersion is measured as the standard deviation of all freelancers rating (or experience), which
represents the diversity of choices a buyer has; thus, it is

God Is Divine Love The Creator Of The Universe And Of All...
God is divine love the creator of the universe and of all things. But how many of us really understand
God at all? I would venture to say very few of us, if any at all.
The First Step Toward Truth Is To Accept That You May Not Know It.So, how do we go about
learning to love a God that we don t even understand? What is the truth about God!
The first step in finding the truth is in accepting the fact that we might not know it.
We will be discussing many things about God and religion with you and hopefully together we can
gain a better understanding of our creator.
Who Is God?
God is everlasting love, joy and all wise that goes beyond all human understanding. Many people
believe in a God and different religions see him in different forms. We see him in the form that we
choose to see him in. Devotees of God will see him in the form Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, even an old
man in the sky ext. However, the vision we see him as is just that a vision of what we believe he looks
like. However, this is not the true nature of God.
There have been many great teachers of God through the ages that are capable of teaching us about
God, but to find God s true nature and the truly unique essence of him can only be found in deep
meditation.
Does God Have A Plan For Us?
I never understood why people would think that God would have a plan for us when he gave us free
will to decide for ourselves, and the intelligence to think and plan our own further out. So why would
he then, threaten us

How Kitchenaid Is An American Home Appliance Brand Owned...
When you come home for the holidays, Mom is in the kitchen baking all the festive goodies. Chances
are she has her KitchenAid Mixer pulled out of the cupboard and is in the middle of dumping all the
delicious ingredients into it to create the perfect pie. KitchenAid is an American home appliance brand
owned by Whirlpool Corporation. The company was started in 1919 by The Hobart Corporation to
produce stand mixers. An entire kitchen of high performance appliances were created all with the
same attention to detail, quality craftsmanship, versatile technology and design. The KitchenAid
Mixer has turned into a timeless classic. It still remains the Cadillac, or BMW, of food preparation
appliances. The KitchenAid story begins when Herbert Johnson, he was an engineer at the Hobart
Corporation. Herbert observed a baker hard at work, mixing his bread by hand, and then he has the
idea and decided that there must be a better way. They introduced an 80 quart commercial baking
dough mixer in 1915 on which he had worked since 1908. He set out to develop an automatic mixer
and in 1914, Hobart released the 60 quart industrial H5. The H5 eventually made its way into every
ship kitchen in the US Navy. They then introduced a 65 pound domestic version in 1919, named the
Model H the KitchenAid when a housewife tester commented, I don t care what you call it, but I know
it s the best kitchen aid I have ever had. It was sold door to door for $189 and was on the market until
1927. In the

The Economy Of Mexico s Macroeconomics
The economy of Mexico is the 15th largest in the world in nominal terms and the 11th largest by
purchasing power parity, according to the International Monetary Fund . Since the 1994 crisis,
administrations have improved the country s macroeconomic fundamentals.
Mexico was not significantly influenced by the recent 2002 South American crisis, and maintained
positive, although low, rates of growth after a brief period of stagnation in 2001. Mexico was one of
the Latin American nations most affected by the 2008 recession with its gross domestic product
contracting by more than 6 percent. In spite of the Mexican economy s unprecedented macroeconomic
stability, which was reduced inflation and interest rates to record lows and has increased

Baby Igneous Rocks Research Paper
Volcano eruptions bring newborn rocks to the world. Every year, rock families would wait around
volcanos for the erupted magma or surface lava to cool down. Each family would adopt the baby
igneous rocks of their type, who share the same genes, or minerals, as them. These igneous rocks
could have a variety of appearance and crystal sizes. Some rocks composed of surface lava have
smaller, less complex crystalline structures. They were cooled much faster when they were in contact
with air or water, and larger, more complex crystalline structure would not be formed before they
harden. On the adoption day, all kinds of rocks could be spotted; with different lustre, colour,
crystalline structure, and mineral composition. As baby igneous rocks

Rmk Influence On German Culture
With this concept in mind, the Kampfbund für deutsche Kultur, or the Militant League for German
Culture, was created in 1929. Originally headed by Alfred Rosenburg, the Nazis took over the
institution when Hitler rose to power and it became known as the Reichskulturkammer in 1933. The
RKK was created to combat cultural influence that did not further Germanness . A division of the
RKK became known as the Reichsmusikammer, or the RMK, that was used to censor music all
throughout Germany. The only problem with the RMK was that it was entirely run by men with
almost no musical background. It can be agreed that all Germans were very fond of music and its
impact on the soul, but not all took the time to learn how to create and play music. The first of many
cultural restrictions targeted music specifically and crippled the creation of music in German society.

Valuations Differences in Private Equity Funds, Mutual...
Over the last several years, the total number of investment options that investors have available to
them, have increased dramatically. This is evident in the overall increase in the number of private
equity funds, hedge funds and mutual funds. For example, the total number of private equity deals that
were completed in the year 1970 was a total of 12 transactions accounting for $13 million of
investment capital. In 2007, this number of transactions increased 2, 247 and accounted for a total of
$70 billion in investment capital. (Shapiro, 2008) This is significant because it underscores the overall
shift in the way that investors can make money, in an economy that is increasingly becoming more
globalized. As a result, the prudent investor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea, is that by restructuring the company and eliminating those issues that were causing it
financial problems, you can be able to create significant value by purchasing the company for pennies
on the dollar. ( Private Equity Fund, 2010) There are several key objectives that all private equity
funds and investors will have in common to include: taking a long term horizon, investing in those
companies / industries that will generate significant value and minimizing the short / long term risks
as much as possible. All private equity funds will take a long term horizon of several years or more.
This is because the objective of a private equity fund is to control the company that they are
purchasing. Where, they will have an influence on the board of directors and the management itself to
achieve its long term objective of creating value. As a result, this will involve working actively to be
able to restructure the different departments, so that the business is more productive. (Thomas, 2006)
Investing in those companies and industries that will create significant value is when the private equity
funding is performing careful analysis of the investment, before a deal is announced. This is because
the shareholders want to be satisfied that any kind of company or industry that they will be going into
has the long term potential of providing the fund with significant returns. As a result, this means that
more due diligence will take place

  • 2. Religion And Culture In Where The Gods Fly By Jean Kwork Where the gods fly As an immigrant it can be hard to integrate into a new country. There are new rules that you need to follow, a new culture to fit into and a whole new life to begin. You have to choose between three different ways of integrating into the new country: firstly, you can fully let go of your old traditions and become a part of the new culture, secondly you can keep you own traditions and isolate yourself from the influence from the new country, or lastly, you can mix the two cultures and take the best parts of them. In the short story Where the gods fly written by Jean Kwork, religion and culture becomes a huge influence on the decisions a Chinese immigrant mother takes for her daughter, which I will analyse in the following essay. The essay will include a resume, it will deal with the story s structure and the use of contrasts. Where the gods fly is a short story about a Chinese immigrant family that move to New York. The parents work at a factory in Chinatown and because they do not want to leave their daughter, Pearl, alone, they sign her up for a ballet class. Pearl becomes extraordinary good at ballet, but because her mother does not deem ballet as a valid future choice also including the fact that she deems it too good for them, she has decided to make Pearl quite ballet. The main structure of the story is not how a typical novel is build up. The short story starts in media res with a line about how the main character is kneeling in front of the gods. This is followed by a foreshadowing about a ballet story that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Persuasive Essay On Bigfoot Bigfoot (or Sasquatch ) is a tall, dark haired cryptid humanoid that has become a mystery to the American people. Unfortunately, many believe that the furry beast is simply a hoax, while others know what they saw in the mysterious forest. Based on countless discoveries, Bigfoot has existed at some point. Considering the proof presented by dedicated Bigfoot scientists and fans, totally debunking the controversial topic of Bigfoot would seem ignorant. Perhaps people are not digging deep enough to find the creature. The quest began when Bigfoot was captured on film for the first time by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin. In the year of 1967, the two men were out in a remote mountainous location in Northern California. After Patterson heard about the tracks found near Bluff Creek, he was determined to make a documentary about the mysteries of the Sasquatch. Buoyant, he rented a 16mm movie camera and went to the area in question with his comrade, Bob Gimlin. He caught the beast on camera casually strolling through an open clearing, staring at Patterson filming while continuing to walk. The film became known as the Patterson Gimlin film. This contrasts with the daughters modern and hip hop language that incorporates many slang terminologies, non standard English sentences and phrases, and a very relaxed tone. • 17. Romeo And Juliet Balcony Scene Analysis The balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet is a well remembered scene in Romeo and Juliet. Although, there are different versions of it in different movies and plays. I m comparing the balcony scene between the original script and the 1997 movie. There are a lot of differences, with not as many similarities. It seems as a more modern day version... There are some key details in both the movie and the script. Some key details in the play are that Romeo hides in the darkness, and that he is stalking Juliet in a way. It also takes place on a balcony near the streets, [Seeing Juliet enter above on a balcony] (Act II Scene 2, Page 71) which is a lot more in older days than modern. In the movie version, some key details are that Romeo is hidden on a vine, not so much hidden though.(You can see in the 1997 movie, Romeo + Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann.) The setting is also on a deck and a pool. Those are some of the key details you will need to know. Now, I will explain the differences between the original script and the movie. One pretty noticable difference is that the setting is a lot different. In the script, the setting is on the balcony, and is definitely a way less modern version, almost like a cliche love scene. In the 1997 movie, the setting isn t even on a balcony, it is on a back porch with a pool. This takes away the whole cliche love scene in the original script, and as I feel takes away some of the meaning of the original. It also is a lot more modern, because there aren t as many balconies in modern day houses now, which makes sense why the didn t put one, therefore it is an older and more modern day version. Another big difference between the two is that in the script, they don t have a pool that they jump into and kiss, but in the 1997 movie they do. Romeo and Juliet go into the pool together and kiss, when in the script they talk from a distance and then meet at her balcony. I think they did this also because it was made to be more modern, but they kept more of the cliche love scene. The last difference I will talk about is in the script, romeo hides in the darkness unseen, I have the darkness to hide me from their eyes... Women are often downgraded economically, politically and socially just because they are female s. The struggle between women in the 1800s is similar to the struggle women have now. Equal rights for women are still being campaigned now as much as it was during the 1800s (Richard Chused). The connotation of feminism has been created to be a negative word .Just like people believe women should be equal to men, many others believe otherwise. Susan B. Anthony, Sarah and Angelina Grimke, and Lucy Stone are only a few of the many woman rights activist during the 1800s. Well know celebrities also help promote feminist movements like Beyonce with her song Flawless, Amber Rose and her Slut Walk and even the well educated and activist Malala Yousafzai. Many of these women helped the growing society have a better understanding of the inequality women face on a daily bases by forming alliances and supporting each other to fight for equality similarly to the first Seneca Fall Convention, which was formed in 1848 and many organizations formed today like The Institute for Women Policy Research and The National Organization for Women, has helped developed the fight for equality. An Effective System For Lossless Image Compression Abstract In this paper, we proposed an effective system for lossless image compression using different wavelet transform such as the stationary wavelet transform, the non decimated wavelet transform, and discrete wavelet transform with delta encoding and compare the results without delta encoding. With the development in the field of networking in the process of sending and receiving files needed to effective techniques for image compression as the raw images required large amounts of disk space to defect during transportation and storage operations. We used lossless compression to maintain the original features of the image in this process; there is a major problem which often is low compression ratios. We also use three types of wavelet transform which are discrete wavelet transform, non decimated wavelet transform, and stationary wavelet transform to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system for comparison and to show the differences between each type to overcome previous challenges. This paper proposed a system for lossless image compression based on the use of the three types of wavelet transforms using Arithmetic coding and Huffman coding with delta coding, which helps in the high compression ratio to clarify the extent of the difference and distinction between each type. The results show that the stationary wavelet transform outperforms the non decimated wavelet transform and the discrete wavelet transform and with delta encoding outperforms without delta ... • 20. Advantages Of The Battle Of Agincourt French Drawbacks The Battle of Agincourt could have, and should have, been an easy victory for the French. They outnumbered their opponent with fresh troops and fought on their own turf. All signs pointed to victory. However, this caused them to become overconfident, which led to hasty decisions as well as the neglect to consider terrain and prior encounters with palings. Intelligence Assets Spies have always been a part of warfare in one form or another. Christine de Pisan s book The Book of Deeds of Arms and of Chivalry (as cited in Arthurson, 2013) suggested that one should be curiose diligent to send forthe here there his espies subtylli...to [u]nderstande [the] purpose of his enemyes (p. 136). With the threat of imminent battle looming, scouts, riders, and runners would provide intelligence on the status of enemy formations and their disposition. Both the English and French used scouts as Henry s army marched toward Calais. In one instance, English scouts found six thousand French guarding a river crossing that forced them to find another route. Similarly, the French tracked the progress of Henry s army to block his advance as they amassed troops. From their scouts, the French also learned that the English were few, short on supplies, and weary from the march and illness. Such an easy target excited the French, who rushed ahead to intercept Henry and his forces before they could escape. Additionally, this attracted many French nobles, eager to take part in the ... • 21. Jurassic Park, By John Hammond Essay From the very first, Welcome to Jurassic Park, given by John Hammond, audiences have been captivated with the idea of dinosaurs. Steven Spielberg s Jurassic Park series has a plethora of strong female characters, from Dr. Ellie Sattler to the infamous Tyrannosaurus Rex herself. In 2015, the blockbuster film Jurassic World, directed by Colin Trevorrow, hit theaters, adding itself to the dinosaur lineage. The plot takes place twenty two years after the first film. The park has now reopened, and there is no room for error, especially with the women depicted in the movie. Jurassic Park has a reputation of giving audiences strong female characters both human and dinosaur. With Jurassic World comes a whole set of new characters, new creatures, and new couture. However, despite modern advances with feminism, Jurassic World does not quite meet the standards Jurassic Park first presented in 1993. While World definitely does have feminist attributes, and even has elements of the femme fatale, the film takes a long step backwards from the first film. Fans from the beginning of the series will automatically know that all the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park and Jurassic World are female. They will also remember Ian Malcolm s realization: God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs, which is quickly followed up by Ellie saying, Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the Earth, followed by a worried look from Malcolm and a smile ... • 22. Evaluation Of An Action Research Project Evaluation of an Action Research Project In action research, an individual or a group of colleagues applies scientific methods to real life problems or issues occurring within a work or educational environment (Conscious Educating, 2009a). According to Dr. Waddell, action research seeks to accomplish two goals, which are to stimulate learning and make a difference (Waddell, 2007). Teachers, researchers, and administrators all evaluate, investigate, and analyze problems or concepts in hopes of improving them and thereby benefiting students, the classroom environment, and their own teaching practices. According to Ary et al. (2015), Action research allows educators to focus on an issue that directly relates to their learning environment (p. 549). Step 2, Plan, involves taking action gathering data or information by observing or monitoring the effects. Ms. Senter set out to find information regarding a fantasy unit. Through her research, she was able to locate ready made units on science fiction but not on fantasy. The benefit of action research is that it encourages collaboration and the development of learning communities (Ary et al., 2015, p. 550). Ms. Senter collaborated with fellow English teachers, then realized that she still needs more resources and support. Accordingly, she drew on the local library for extra support, deepening her knowledge and gaining materials to help her design her own nine week instructional unit on fantasy to add to her eleventh grade literature curriculum. Step 3, Act, sees the practitioner implementing a plan of action. Ms. Senter has completed her unit on fantasy and has developed her unit based on four major themes: (1) fantasy as a unique literary form that emphasizes imagination and magic, with stories often set in an imaginary place; (2) fantasy s use of elements also found in other novels (character, setting, plot, theme); (3) fantasy stories multiple levels of meaning; and (4) fantasy s use of the usual pattern of narrative progression (background, build up, climax, resolution). One reason why children should nt be restricted to media screens is because teconology gives children who are visual learners acces to educational videos where they would learn faster than reading about it. Another reason is because since 2015 the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) changed their guidelines for children screen watching. They now support children and parents to play video games together. Also children have showed researchers that watching TV with their parents has reduced anger and fear. • 25. Examples Of Government Intervention In today s world, government intervention still divides the nation. We mainly witness this division during politics, with democrats and republicans. Government intervention increased immensely after the Great Depression. This is because of the fact that before the Great Depression, investors were freely using their money buying and spending, without any regulations, leading to the stock market crash. During the recession process, in order to land the economy back to a stable path, presidents and other officials intervened to speed the process up. While some people believe that government intervention should not be allowed, others believe that government intervention is beneficial to the nation because it is able to put regulations among those who affect the economy. Government interventions have allowed many helpful programs for Americans such as welfare, trade programs, and tariff limitations. It also has placed a fairness on the economy, allowing an equivalence of prices for the products that we buy and use on a daily basis. Some different types of government intervention include subsidies, tax breaks, and inflation. During 1990 2002, government intervention became a giant part of the marketplace in the United States. An example of this is during Bill Clinton s short term presidency. Clinton enacted plans that helped increase the economy s growth. Another example of this is during George W. Bush Jr s presidency term. His main goal of helping the economy as well as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Did Italian Immigrants In The Late 1800s In the late 18th century, European migrants such as Germans, Polish, and Italians came to America to start a better life, little did they know that coming to a new country such as America wouldn t be the easiest. Many Germans, Polish, and Italian immigrants began searching for a new life in America in the late 1800 s. As easy as they thought is was going to be, many immigrants had a tenacious time being part of America. They needed to leave the country that they knew and their loved ones, hoping their lives would improve after arriving in the United States. German immigrants moved to America because of poverty, conversely being so indigent that they couldn t provide for themselves. They also came to America to provide for their families whom they brought along. Polish immigrants came to earn more money then the earned in Poland. Italian immigrants came to America to escape the wars that were happening as well as pursuing a better economic opportunity. Immigration to America was a time where European immigrants wanted to start a new life with their families. By the late 1800 s, many German Immigrants wanted to start a fresh new life in America. Many came to America because of poverty and overpopulation. They wanted to come to the land of freedom and opportunity. German immigrants discovered America through other immigrants that came to America earlier. Farmers found out through newspapers or handbooks. Many German peasants possessed some land, which they sold to start their journey of coming into America. Had possessions or even some land which they could sell to purchase their passage and to finance the start of their new life in America. There was plenty of fertile land, and it was cheap (Cook 33). This clearly shows us the Germans wanted a better life where they did not have to work as much in America. Many skilled craftsman also made their way in America because of the demand of skilled labor. After finding out about the goodness of America, many Germans came by steamships. In the Merriam Webster dictionary language is defined as the system of words or signs that people use to express thoughts and feelings to each other . This is a very broad definition and captures so many of the tools that we use each and every day to communicate with each other. It includes spoken or written words as well as non verbal cues and signs, including sign language. It also captures systems of communication such as computer languages and braille. Everyone uses language to influence others, whether it is in our small family world or the world in a broader sense. Mark Pagel in his Ted talk, How language transformed humanity (ted.com) described how language gives us the power to change the world as follows: I m talking about your language, of course, because it allows you to implant a thought from your mind directly into someone else s mind . Ultimately, language gives every one of us the power to effect change by using our knowledge and opinions to influence others and the way we see the world. This is what the politicians and the media in our society seek to do every day. The broader our knowledge of language and the subtleties of language in our different spheres (home, work, society and planet), the more broadly we can effect change. In Ru, for example, we learn that the physical language varies depending on the culture. If a mark of affection can sometimes be taken for an insult, perhaps the gesture of love is not universal: it too must be translated from one language to another, must be learned. (Thúy 96) In order to effect change, we must have knowledge of these subtleties of language. After reading the article I concur with the author s views on colleges coddling students who are offended by words or small actions is doing more harm than good. The article covered the issues in detail and gave many examples of the conception before the 1980 s when children could roam free in the world with less worry for parents to where next generation who had more protective parents because of the increase of kidnappings, removal of physical activities in school, school shootings, and bullying after the 1980 s.The authors discuss how coddling is not good for students, society, the workplace, government or the future. Coddling removes cognitive thinking and the use of good critical thinking skills. Coddling will force students to think with emotion instead of logic. Chances are she has her KitchenAid Mixer pulled out of the cupboard and is in the middle of dumping all the delicious ingredients into it to create the perfect pie. KitchenAid is an American home appliance brand owned by Whirlpool Corporation. The company was started in 1919 by The Hobart Corporation to produce stand mixers. An entire kitchen of high performance appliances were created all with the same attention to detail, quality craftsmanship, versatile technology and design. The KitchenAid Mixer has turned into a timeless classic. It still remains the Cadillac, or BMW, of food preparation appliances. The KitchenAid story begins when Herbert Johnson, he was an engineer at the Hobart Corporation. Herbert observed a baker hard at work, mixing his bread by hand, and then he has the idea and decided that there must be a better way. They introduced an 80 quart commercial baking dough mixer in 1915 on which he had worked since 1908. He set out to develop an automatic mixer and in 1914, Hobart released the 60 quart industrial H5. The H5 eventually made its way into every ship kitchen in the US Navy.
