American Mink Research Paper
My invasive species that I m investigating is the American mink it is invasive in England. The
American mink came from North America, and got brought to England in 1929 for fur farming.
The American mink s scientific name is Neovison vison and is a semiaquatic, carnivorous animal.
That belongs to the mustelid family. The American mink was brought to England for fur farming
for economic reasons, but some of the minks escaped into the wild and started breeding. It took
them 30 years to establish after they escaped. When the otter s population dropped the minks
started to grow in numbers because the otters ate the minks. The mink s predators are birds of prey,
owls, foxes, coyotes, lynx, and otters.
The American mink breed by the male biting the female on the neck and pinning her down with his
forefeet mating normally goes for 10 mins 4 hours. Mating season is in ... Show more content on

They eat the following but their favorite is the water vole. The water vole s in England are
endangered and is the most effected species in the 20th century because of the American mink.
Now there are more than 110,000 American minks in England.
The American mink brought light tick, fleas and diseases with them when it came to England.
Which affected cattle and sheep which was bad for farmers. The American mink is considered an
invasive species because they are feral animals and, because they kill native animals and spread
diseases that are fatal to the native animals.
To try stop the American mink they are going to use humane methods the best one so far is
catching it in a cage and then shooting it in the head. Gwent Wildlife Trust is doing its best to
control the American mink and many other people have been hunting and killing them. They are
trying to stop the American mink because it is killing the water voles which are endangered and
could soon be extinct if they don t stop

My Field Experience At Bushwick United Head Start Program
For my field experience, I had the opportunity to observe a four year old pre kindergarten
classroom on November 5th and 12th at Bushwick United Head Start program. The school is
located at 136 Stanhope street, Brooklyn, N.Y. Majority of the families the school serve are
Hispanics, and as a result, the student body entails mostly ELL students. There are approximately
130 students enrolled in the program, and out of that 130, about 10% speaks English. The school
uses an additive model of English Language to support both the student s home language and foster
and support English language acquisition. The classrooms are staffed with teachers who speak the
children s home language, who can apply some use of the home language within the classroom and
providing hands on experiences for students. Additionally, to support students with disability, the
school also partnered with United Community Services (UCS), a program that offers speech
therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy to students. The school uses the evidence based
Creative Curriculum. The Creative Curriculum is aligned with Head Start Performance Standards,
NAEYC guidelines and the NY State Prekindergarten Common Core Standards. The classroom I
observed consists of seventeen students, eight of which girls and nine are boys. Of the seventeen
students, nine receive services from UCS, and five of which understood and speak English, though
not fluently. The students are often pulled out the classroom to receive

Capital One
Capital One Financial Corporation
1. How is Capital One s use of IT different from other mass customization strategies? Capital One
uses IT through its information based strategy (IBS) to record, organize, and analyze data on the
characteristics and behaviors of their customers, as stated by CEO Richard Fairbank. Their
philosophy was to exploit information by constructing scientific models that could be used to both
assess the creditworthiness of potential cardholders through FICO scoring, and to customize
product offerings for existing ones. This was done through data mining, sorting, customizing offers
and marketing campaigns, and then analyzing this data to see what campaigns worked for what
reason and what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Behavioral interviews, case interviews, and standardized tests were used to find raw talent without
focusing on prior industry or marketing experience. These four things are what separates Capital
One from its competition, and will sustain their competitive advantage in the future.
3. What are the consequences of Capital One s IT strategy for expansion into different segments of
the credit card industry, and into other industry s? The immediate consequences of their expansion
strategy proved the efficiency of their statistical modeling to inhibit Capital One from taking any
missteps into industry s that are either saturated or do not allow enough growth in the future.
Capital One considered expanding into auto insurance and auto financing, but fierce competition,
low margins, and stringent regulation kept them from pursuing this immediately. (Capital One did
recently acquire Summit Acceptance Corporation an auto financing company that focused on the
sub prime market). Next they looked at the energy and telecom industries, but consumer energy
usage patterns are available publicly which kept them from exploring this option further. America
One was created which resold blocks of calling time enabling Capital One to gain a foothold in
telecom. An ancillary effect of Capital One looking to broaden its horizons into other industries will
promote other companies to review their current IT systems to see where their inefficiencies lie, so
they can

Critically Looking At The Research
Critically Looking at the Research
While this research project was taking place, a method(s) of research had to be chosen. Multiple
options were considered such as online research, questioners, and interviews. It was found that the
questionnaires would not help the research because the information that was needed could not be
extrapolated out of a questionnaire. Secondly, interview(s) were ruled out of the question because
there was no one that could be found and contacted that was creditable. There was, however, an
exception to do with the interview later on in the research. This was to do with the required help on
some of the complicated math faced in the project. This was accomplished with the knowledge of
one of the schools mathematics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When conducting the research, difficulties and challenges were experienced. One of the big
problems faced was finding a way to convert the differential equation into a function. Research
online helped narrow down the problem, and then specifically having a talk/interview with math s
personal at the school allowed for a solution to be found.
Throughout the research the most useful source was, Population Dynamics of Western Atlantic
Bluefin Tuna: Modeling the Impacts of Fishing using Differential Equations. The source was the
most useful because of the connections that was shown between population models and
mathematics. The reliability was judged to be high because of the authors Esther Bowen, Marie
Hoerner, and Cassie Kontur. The information stated was backed up by other sources and judged to
be accurate. Lastly the information displayed was up to date and on topic.
If this research task was to be redone, there are a few improvements that could be made. Firstly the
topic was a little broad if the topic was narrowed down more, a more informative research project
could have been created. Secondly, more time with a specialist in mathematics, and more help
specifically with differential equation and calculus would have been externally productive. The
mathematical aspect of the research project would have been a lot stronger with more/longer access
to math experts. For example an improvement of converting the differential equation to a function
that has the

Almost all stories have plots, and authors employ plots in many different ways. If you can show
the particular way in which an author makes use of plot to further his or her story, you have said
something substantial. We are interested in learning about the particular way that Hawthorne uses
colors and names as character symbols in Young Goodman Brown, or the specific way that Updike
in A P shows the world of the grocery store society as a way to enable Sammy s character to
hopefully mature. Try to develop your discussion by focusing on a particular strategy the author
uses and what effect that strategy has on the reader. Why did the author choose this particular
strategy over other options that might have presented themselves? Does the strategy enable the
author to do anything? Are there any constraints in using the strategy?

Disadvantages Of Binoculars
Most people normally like touring places at one time or another. You will note that most tourist
normally buy a pair of binoculars among other things. These equipment can help you bring objects
that are far away closer to your eyes. This enables you to focus on them well and even distinguish
them even though they are far away from you. You will note that not all people own a pair of
binoculars. It is actually an investment for some people. If you choose to buy a pair of binoculars,
you should consider a number of factors. These include:
1. Budget
Once you choose to buy a pair of binoculars, you will be prepared to spend some amount of
money. It is important that you choose a good pair of binoculars for yourself. However, these
binoculars usually have different prices. If you have money, you can choose to go for the pair of
binoculars of your dreams. However, if you are operating on a budget, you should go for the one
that suits your budget. This can greatly help you save money. It is important that you get the value
for your money. You should check the respective prices and choose the one that suits your needs.

Others can be too big. Small binoculars are easy to carry around and use. You can easily travel
with them when going for a tour and so on. However, they may not be very effective. The images
may appear too small. On the other end, big binoculars can provide quality images but can be too
cumbersome to carry around. This means that you can only use them on a limited number of

Parenting Class on Sleep Settling and Postnatal Depression
Parenting Class on Sleep Settling and Postnatal Depression Sleep Settling I. Introduction The
Raising Children Network (2012) reports that sleep problems in infants and postnatal depression in
mothers are common experiences and it research has demonstrated that sleep problems occur in
approximately 45% of infants aged 0 12 months. This problem may result in serious consequences
for families that adversely affect child development. (Raising Children Network, 2012) Research
findings indicate an existing links between depression in mothers and infant sleep problems
although it is not clear precisely what the link between these two conditions actually is. II. Previous
Research Previous research includes a study of 328 mothers all of whom were reporting significant
sleep problems in their infants. The report states that some of the mothers were randomly allocated
to a program (treatment group) where they received consultation from a maternal and child health
nurse. (Raising Children Network, 2012) The mothers were assisted by the nurse in the
development of an individualized sleep management plan which was inclusive of positive bedtime
routines, controlled comforting or camping out, and strategies for phasing out night time feeds and
dependence on dummies. (Raising Children Network, 2012) The control group did not receive the
program assists and received information instead on normal childhood sleep. The mothers kept

Statement Of Purpose In Computer Science
Statement of Purpose As Arthur C. Clarke said Any sufficiently advanced technology is
indistinguishable from magic , I am always fond of that magic and I never ceased to learn new
things especially, computers. Its formidability and enigma urged me to take footsteps in the field
of Computer Science, that is when I decided to pursue my graduation in Computer Science. Hence
upon completion of my 12th grade, I took up Computer Science and Engineering at the Sriguru
Institute of Technology, India affiliated to Anna University which provided me the perfect
platform for achieving academic excellence. In the course of my Undergraduation, my area of
interest is C, Java, Computer Networks, Data Mining and Web Technologies. Studying

Claude Mckay Research Paper
Claude Mckay was born on September 15, 1889, in Jamaica. His older brother educated him,
using his collection of English novels, poetry, and scientific textbooks. He studied poetry and
philosophy alongside Walter Jekyll. Jekyll encouraged him to create original poetry in his own
dialect, which was Jamaican. If a man is not faithful to his own individuality, he cannot be loyal
to anything (McKay). His first novel was published in 1912, Songs of Jamaica, which talked
about his Negro lifestyle in his Jamaican dialect. Later that year, Constab Ballads was published
and with those two novels, he earned enough money to move to the USA. In 1914, Mckay moved
to Harlem, New York. With his works, he became a central figure of the Harlem Renaissance

The Central Statement Of Trinitarian Faith
The Nicene Creed has been the central statement of Trinitarian faith since it was written in 381
A.D. (106). The Nicene Creed proclaims faith in each aspect of the Trinity, but for some it is
hard to comprehend how Jesus could be equal to the Father. Furthermore, the concept of how each
can be their own being while also existing as one is hard for many to understand. In this paper,
one will see arguments for the existence of God, how God was creator and forgiver, how Jesuswas
also the creator and forgiver, and how the Father, Son, and Holy Spiritare all one. The Bible is
consistent to reveal that God is the creator, and that he has purpose for his people. He sends his son

In 1 John 4:19 it says, We love because he first loved us. Since God made the world in an act of
love, people are then called to love others because of the love that they have been shown. X In
the book of Genesis, one can see the way that both creation and forgiveness are reserved for God.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God, created the heaven and the earth. Matthew Henry talked about
in his commentary of first chapter of Genesis the way that God was the author and cause of this
great work, and that the Godhead was at work creating the earth. The power of God the Creator.
El signifies the strong God; and what less than almighty strength could bring all things out of
nothing? The plurality of persons in the Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. This plural name
of God, in Hebrew, which speaks of him as many though he is one, was to the Gentiles perhaps a
savour of death unto death, hardening them in their idolatry; but it is to us a savour of life unto life,
confirming our faith in the doctrine of the Trinity, which, though but darkly intimated in the Old
Testament, is clearly revealed in the New (Henry, n.d.). Not long after creation Adam and Eve fell
into temptation, and found themselves aware of their nakedness, hiding from God. Genesis 3:11
He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded
you not to eat? God knew that they had disobeyed him and because

These trends are not confined to European or American music markets. Baidu, China s largest
online search company, recently signed a deal with rights holders to license music on its website
for both free download and streaming (Hille, 2011). The surge in popularity has led some to
believe that the digital music market represents the recording industry s next sustainable business
model, along with diversification into live events and merchandise. However, relatively little is
understood about the consumer who uses a combination of legal and illegal sources to acquire
music a la carte. In the decade prior to the Internet, the music industry was relatively healthy overall
with worldwide sales peaking in 1998 (Baym, 2010). Since then, peer to peer (P2P) networks such
as Napster have contributed to the decline in sales of CDs. There is some disagreement about the
extent to which file sharing has negatively impacted the recording; however, evidence points to
copyright infringement as a significant factor. The digitalization of music effectively removed the
industry s monopoly on high quality reproduction so that illegal copies were of equal standard to
the original (May, 2007). Concomitantly, the intangible nature of digital music has resulted in new
consumption practices. Efforts to counter digital piracy have primarily used legal mechanisms to
dismantle P2P networks and prosecute file sharers. More

Comparing The Position In Scots Law Regarding Pre-Nuptial...
The position in Scots law regarding pre nuptial agreement is in total opposition compared to its
neighbour s. In fact, marital agreements generally speaking have never been deemed contrary to
public policy . By contrast, it is trite law that parties are free to enter into nuptial agreements as
they see fit . And as early as 1985, it was clear that parties may by agreement oust the jurisdiction of
the court . In other words, in Scotland marital agreements, called minutes of agreements , are
binding legal contracts that are enforced provided that the standard requirements for the validity of
contracts, mainly capacity and consent, are met . Nuptial agreements may be entered into before or
during the marriage or after the relationship has ended, without any difference of treatment being

The statute limits indeed court s discretion and therefore creates an environment encouraging the
conclusion of marital agreements safe in the knowledge of the likely judicial outcome . But if the
Scottish law of divorce is more predictable than its English counterpart, there is still room for
judicial discretion when applying the 1985 Act . Consequently, by reaching an agreement
regarding the financial provision of a future divorce, the parties avoid any disputed application of
the Section 9 principles . To this extent, the specific problems encountered in Granatino v
Radmacher are alien to Scots family lawyers

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Crisis
Purpose:
The purpose of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Crisis Center Follow Up program is to
promote systematic follow up of suicidal persons who call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
(NSPL) network and those that are discharged from a partnering emergency department.
However, for those at imminent risk for suicide, emergency intervention is frequently initiated.
The grant will be awarded to eligible applicants that demonstrate the knowledge and ethical
capability to manage the award.
The eligible applicants must have the capability to help find solutions to the research findings that
denotes that the period after emergency suicide interventions is one of heightened risk for suicide,
with significant numbers of deaths occurring following discharge from either an emergency
department or inpatient hospitalization.
The Crisis Centers will follow up with any individual at imminent risk of suicide within 48 hours of
discharge from a partnering emergency department or who was referred from a crisis center to a
partnering emergency department.
This grant program will continue to support the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services

After a lot of research through the years the consensus is that Parrots present problems less
frequently than most of the other pets, Especially the exotic ones, like Macaws, African Grey and
Cockatiels. These species have stable temperaments and are less probable to show aggressive
behavior. Macaws, even the smaller ones have a wonderful sense of bigness , result of their genetic
traits, and can sometimes overreact to unfamiliar objects or something they see as a threat. Other
species like cockatiels, African Grey Parrot, small Budgies can show aggressive behavior during
the mating season, especially males. They have a sense of protectiveness for their offspring soon
to be hatched. Wild parrots like Indian Ring Necks have lots of problems being confined to
smaller spaces and can injure their keepers in aggression.2. Soothing or Noisy? ... Show more

introducing two birds, because this moment will decide rest of their stay. Take extra care when
introducing a smaller bird to a significantly larger one. To introduce them to each other you need
to give them at least 1 day to get familiar with each other, keep their cages side by side, such that
one bird can see the other. On the Next day let the birds play in the same area for some time, but
keep a closer eye on them, do this for 2 3 days and if you see them getting along well then you can
put them together. Else if one of the birds is getting aggressive then give them some more time to

Data commentary on obesity

Data Commentary Introduction After reading and evaluating six articles written by experts on
obesity, the data seems to imply that better educating people about how their behavioral lifestyle
choices effect their future and current health is the best solution. The six journal articles evaluated
and analyzed include: David Freedman s article, How to Fix the Obesity Epidemic, published in
Scientific American in 2011. Green Gregory s article, Physical Activity and Childhood Obesity:
Strategies and Solutions for Schools and Parents, published in Education in 2012. Micheal Wietings

Advocacy and regulation can play a large role in prevention of the problem while physicians
consistently research medical solutions for the obese community. Michael Wieting is a professor
of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Lincoln Memorial University where he is also the
Dean of Clinical Medicine. Like Green, Wieting cites the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention often throughout his paper. Wieting acknowledges different causes and solutions in his
paper, and pulls information from many different scholarly papers written by his peers. His paper
avoids bias by explaining multiple viewpoints on the issue, which allows the reader to interpret
and make conclusions without any sway from the author. The article was written in 2008 and cites
sources from the same year, making the statistics relevant relevant and current information. George
Blackburn reminds readers about the science behind the epidemic of obesity in his article, Science
Based Solutions to Obesity: What are the Roles of Academia, Government, Industry, and

well as possible scientific solutions that go beyond the everyday go to the gym solution. As obesity
kills more and more people each year, medical institutions are making a point to study the
biochemistry behind the issue. Blackburn is an expert in the field of healthcare and nutrition, he

Kant s Refutations of the Proofs of the Existence of God...
Kant s Refutations of the Proofs of the Existence of God
There are three types of proof for the existance of God:
The Ontological Proof:
God is the most perfect conceivable being. Existence is moreperfect than non existence. God by
definition exists.
The Cosmological Proof:
Everything contingent must have a cause. If this cause is alsocontingent, then it too must also have
a cause. This chain ofcauses and effects must have a beginning a necessary cause. Thisnecessary
cause must be God.
The Physico Theological Proof:
Observations about the particular constitution of the sensible world provide proof of the existence

As soon as a person has admitted that he/she has a concept of God , by this argument, then that
person has also admitted God s existence (in the same way that admitting you have the concept
of a triangle is, is to admit that a triangle has three angles). Like most of Kant s topics of
discussion, it is difficult to fully grasp the entirety of what is being said. However, unlike most
other cases, this time I don t think it s entirely his fault. In fact, his refutation to this deceivingly
simple argument is (perhaps deceivingly) actually quite simple. Existence cannot be a predicate. In
the sentence Thomas is the teacher , the word is is not the predicate, but it is the word that implies
existence. Therefore, the sentence God is does not contain a predicate. A predicate is a word that
ads a quality to the concept of the thing it is applied to existence is not a quality. The cosmological
argument, according to Kant, is too well known for it to be necessary to expound it in detail here

Anita Citata Research Paper
Everything about her feels choreographed to perfection. She wears a tight, black leather jumpsuit
while steadying her Honda Grom 250cc motorcycle with poise. As she removes her helmet, dark,
messy curls cascade. Her makeup is bolder than normal, resembling an even fiercer version of
Marianne Faithfull from La Motocyclette. With heels that could kill, she takes on New York City.
At 4 11 , she may be the smallest person seen on two wheels. Yet, when she looks into the camera,
her petite, porcelain nature transforms into a smoldering goddess. The metamorphosis is even more

The Never-Ending War Against Bacteria and Viruses Essay...
The enemy is everywhere. Trillions of them surround you, invisible, intangible, their mere
existence quite capable of killing you. You have defenses, but they can avoid or destroy those
defenses and work their will upon your body. From bacteria and viruses, there is no escape.
Throughout human history, we have been at war with them... the front lines our very bodies. It is a
war we are not winning. We have developed few effective tactics against them. Our oldest tactic,
sterilization, was first used circa 3000 B.C. when the Egyptians used antiseptics such as pitch and tar
in the creation of their mummies. The next five thousand years saw considerable development in
this process of killing bacteria, and today... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One bacterial strain developed resistance against our most recent antibiotic, Zyvox, less than a
year after its release. There are so many bacteria, and they evolve so rapidly, that they will
develop defenses to any chemical attack we make. Bacteria have even been known to develop
resistance to bleach and other harsh chemicals (6). They are faster than we are. While we can slow
them down through more responsible use of our antibiotics, if we do not change our approach, we
will lose. There are two significant alternate approaches we could use to target and kill bacteria.
One potential alternate approach to the treatment of infectious disease is utilizing monoclonal
antibodies to supplement our own immune systems. Monoclonal antibodies are pure cultures of
antibodies (the body s primary foreign substance detection molecules) artificially produced to react
to a single specific substance or protein. By utilizing monoclonal antibodies to treat bacterial
infection, we would be flagging the bacteria for the body s immune system to come kill them. As
the body already flags bacteria to some extent, all monoclonal antibodies can do is enhance the
activity of the immune system, which would be ineffective in people with compromised immune
systems. Additionally, monoclonal antibodies would have to be developed for each individual
strain of bacteria, and bacteria could easily change and render the antibody useless. While it would

Impact Of Globalization In Nigeria
The term globalization gets mixed in conversation without even slipping our brains what it is.
But what is it? Globalization is the thought of corporations transferring employment overseas to
those who will work for less. However, globalization can be expressed even wider, which
incorporates numerous influences. With that being said, the most fitting meaning would be that
globalization is the collapse of barriers among countries permitting labor, goods, and services to
be freely exchanged. Consequently, one feature that appears to be debatable is the how
globalization has moved the prosperity of others. For instance, subcontracting has led to a massive
majority of employment for people in underdeveloped countries giving the ability to gradually
creep out of poverty. But yet there are still additional countries that observe their poverty rate rise
steeply. We will take a provocative look at globalization, where it improves a country such as
Nigerias economy. We will talk about how things like Nigeria s use of Credit, reliance on foreign
technologies, lack of raw materials, production of substandard goods, government policies and
education comes into effect on their actual rapid growth in the economic aspect.
The organization of the Nigerian economy is a characteristic of an underdeveloped country. Over
half of the gross domestic product (GDP) is accounted for by the primary sector with agriculture
remaining to play a significant part. The oil and gas sector, in particular,

Strip Searches Persuasive Essay
Strip Searches Should Be Illegal Ontario police officers often search civilians for evidence of a
crime and they employ various methods to do so. However the method of using a strip search has
become outdated and unnecessary in modern society. It is time for the practice of strip searching
people to be stopped by the OntarioProvincial Police(OPP), even if it is a justified search. The
people of Canada should be protected from these searches as they have the right to privacy and
protection from invasive search practices. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms even has a section
on protecting against unreasonable searches , found in section 7 of the charter. If that is the case,
why should the OPP be allowed to infringe on our rights through strip searches? The fact that in a
modern society an illegal method of searchingcivilians is still being used is ridiculous. We have
the technology to find and use less invasive methods of searching people that also abide by the
law. The strip search, being such an invasive form of searching someone is humiliating and
subjecting people to it should be stopped. There was a ruling in 2001 by the Supreme Court of
Canada, which said that it was humiliating. The exact quote was Strip searching is inherently
humiliating and degrading, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled in a landmark case 15 years ago,
and should only be done when there are reasonable grounds (Jacques). The fact that a strip search is
humiliating means that as a society we

Though there are some positive effects, the adverse impact of technology on education has been
extraordinary. The technology community has worked hard to bring useful technology into our
classrooms, all with good intentions to broaden our knowledge. With these good intentions also
came about unwanted side effects such as distraction and disruption in the classroom. I can clearly
remember many of my teachers yelling at us to put our cell phones, iPods, and iTouch phones

With these technological distractions it has become more and more difficult to be successful in a

also backfire and detract from it. The same technology that allows teachers some benefit, professors
also find a nuisance. The mobile phones that have basically become mobile computers are
considered a major distraction because of the silent ringers, e mails, and instant messages that
interrupt us constantly while we are in class. Distraction is not the only worry to the teachers in

her point of view in Internet Creates New Opportunities for Cheating, but Also Learning that More

1950s Music Influence
Between the two World Wars, jazz and swing were all the rage. Starting in the late 1910 s, jazz,
an amalgamation of gospel, blues, ragtime and march, became the popular music of choice for
African American citizens the descendants of slaves whose music influenced jazz. Jazz quickly
caught on, and exploded during the 20 s, spreading to white citizens as well as black. In the 30 s,
jazzmusicwas supplemented by swing, a form of jazz which had larger bands, and which tended to
focus more on a singer rather than a performer. In 1942, amidst a dispute between the musicians
union and popular licensing agencies, a nationwide ban was placed on recording, which brought the

The 1950s began a trend of parenting which resulted in what were called latchkey children. As
many fathers had been killed in World War II and many mothers needed to work, the oldest child
of a family was often drafted to take care of the household. (Hostutler) In the absence of their
parents, latchkey children often had responsibility forced upon them at a very young age. This
early maturity in adolescence resulted in the desire for independence and rejection of authority
which is commonly associated with teenagers. Along with not having a parent to take care of
them, latchkey children did not have a parent to teach them how to interact with the world.
Because of this, teenagers largely learned important moral lessons from their peers or from mass
media, rather than from their parents. As radio, the main form of media at the time, was slowly
becoming more populated by smaller rock bands, often with members not much older than
latchkey children themselves, the morals of those children become the morals of rock and roll,
which focused and intensified the popularity of rock and roll itself, as well as the backlash of
older generations against rock and

The Need for Groundwater Extraction Regulation
Groundwater is used primarily for irrigating farmland; and secondarily, for consumption and
industrial use. Aquifers, unconsolidated subterranean layers which hold water, are rapidly
dwindling, and groundwater depletion is quickly growing to become a major problem for
farmers and the public at large. Reserves close to ground level are rapidly drying up and due to
technological roadblocks, extracting water from deeper reserves is not yet financially feasible.
The problem is especially severe in California, which represents around 20% of all groundwater
withdrawal in the United States (Famiglietti, LA Times). A lack of water for agriculture would
directly lead to diminished food production and indirectly lead to requiring food imports from
outside the state. Groundwater resources are an unregulated public resource and despite any
innovative breakthrough in extraction techniques, the only sustainable, long term solution is to
enforce limits on extraction. Regulation of how much groundwater can be extracted from an aquifer
in a set period of time; along with incentives to obtain water from alternative sources is the ideal
solution to address the perennially growing challenge of groundwater depletion in California.
This regulatory effort must begin in politics but it needs to spread to society as well only when
people realize the consequences of over extraction will they even consider ceasing doing so. This
solution is not based primarily in science and technology, and is

The Major Impact Of The Mexican-American War
Introduction The conflict that started in 25th April 1846 up to 2nd February 1848 between
America and Mexico was termed as the Mexican American War and had a significant to both
nations. The reason for the commencement of the war was due to Manifest Destiny, a populist
belief that Americans had a divine right to the land and so enjoyed the freedom to expand their
borders towards the Pacific Ocean. The conflict, which was due to the exact position to place the
border for each country affected mainly the natives. Although both countries actively participated in
the war, there were individuals in America who were against it among them being Henry David
Thoreau, an American writer and philosopher. Those against the war claimed that the United States
actions in the war were unethical.
Thesis: The close to two year long Mexican American war had a major impact to both countries as
it affected the natives by redefining their rights and responsibilities when Mexico lost much of its
land to the US.

fall of Mexico City, peace negotiations began when the Mexican government surrendered. On

Mexicans feel that the war was an American invasion of their land. The decision to use Military

World War I was the war that changed and affect the world in many different ways. It changed the

The Two Accounts of Creation in Genesis
When God began to create heaven and earth, and the earth then was welter and waste and
darkness over the deep and God s breath hovering er the waters, God said, Let there be light (The
Hebrew Bible 94). This is how readers have always started out studying the Bible. Little did they
know there was an entirely different account of creation just a little ways down from the first
account they see in Genesis. So, is there really two different accounts of God creating the Earth
in the Bible? Some people believe yes, others believe, no. Throughout this essay I will be taking
a deeper look into the two accounts of creation by comparing and contrasting the time periods,
accounts of vegetation, and the animal life that God created. The Bible can be a tricky piece of
literature to read, but I am going to break it down to view the accounts in a more in depth view.
In the beginning of Genesis we are introduced to God and he is beginning to make the Earth as we
know it today. The first book of Genesisdiscusses the way God just had to speak and his words
would bring life to the planet. Genesis 1 takes us on a journey through all six days of creation.
Throughout the six days God manages to create the heavens and the earth, the sky, land, stars, all
the creatures that live in the water, and all the creatures that inhabit the land. Genesis 2 starts out
telling us about what God

Literary Influences Of Shakespeare
Context Due to Shakespeare having a big influence on literature, even today, many literary
works are related to Shakespeare. Authors incorporate Shakespeare s writing in some way and
change things a bit to make their own story. Reflection In literature class, we could apply this
concept because many literary works are influenced by Shakespeare and other writings, which
we can use to make connections and it can be considered as a text to text situation. A film called
West Side Story is just like Romeo and Juliet because in both of the stories there are two rival
groups and one person form one group falls in love with a person from their rival group. These
two stories have common elements such as the rival gangs, and the type of love. Context The
Bible is well recognized book, which has many allusions in it. The writers use these references to
make it more meaningful. Reflection In literature class, we could apply this concept because
allusions can create a lot of imagery, which adds more meaning to it. Religious or biblical
references can also be used for irony. Allusions add hidden and deep meaning, due to the fact it s
an indirect reference. For example, in the book Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the Golgotha as an
allusion. Context Many writers integrate other literary works into their writing. It helps readers
understand what s going on more by connecting some of the events and themes to the fairytales.

The Stereotypes Of Disney s Hidden Glass Ceiling
Royal diversity Disney s Hidden Glass Ceiling What is the glass ceiling? How can we change it?
And where does Disney fit into this? One of the earliest citation came from the magazine world
in 1984. It was basically about women who reach a certain point in middle management where
they get stuck and they are unable to move forward. Since then the definition has broadened it s
become a metaphor that represents an invisible barrier that keeps a given demographic (usually
women and minorities) from rising beyond. Believe it or not, Disney has contributed its fair
share to this with some of its beloved animated princess movies. Most of them featured the
helpless female who eventually finds their prince charming, who then sweeps her off her feet,
then suddenly her whole life changes she lives happily ever after. Sadly, that sends a message to
our young girls that to have happiness and a purpose they need to have a man to achieve that.
Disney has had some success with moving away from female passivity in stories featuring white
characters. In Mulan and the princess and the frog, Disney did not achieve genderor racial equality.
The Disney franchise is a powerful force in the lives of young girls, especially girls of color
seeking same racerole models in the public eye (. Dundes, Streiff, 2016, p1). By unveiling Disney
s hidden glass ceiling, we can start to get a more realistic view of our children s movies and start to
distance ourselves from racial, sexism,

Advantages Of An Advertising Agency
. When using an advertising agency the agency would use all their professional resources to
make the advert such as high quality cameras and editing software. The agency would have
access to all resources which the business may not have access to which gives the business an
advantage as they would get a professional looking advert which would increase sales of the goods
and services advertised in the advert as the advert would be getting the target groups attention and
would interest them to buy the goods and services.

When using an advertising agency, the business would give in all their ideas for the advert that
they are interested on having and the agency would have to use these ideas to make the final
advert. The agency may end up making a advert which the business doesn t like as they haven t
followed the ideas and would be because of miscommunicate. The business would have lots of
ideas which the agency would follow and it would be easy for them to get somethings mixed up.
Which would means that the advert may not be up to the businesses acceptations. This may mean
that the advert would take longer to make as the agency would have to start plaining the advert
again.
9. When using an advertising agency there may be conflict of interest as the business may give
the advertising agency some ideas and they may not like them causing them to disagree to
follow the idea. The business would want the idea being used in the advert but the agency may
diced not to use it as it may make the advert not look professional. So the ideas which the
business comes up with might not be chosen in the final advert even if they were ideas which the
business really wanted in the advert. the advertising agency would have a lot of experience in
making adverts so they would know what makes a good

Characteristics Of Diamond Coatings
The crystallite size of the diamond coatings get larger simply with the deposition time due to the
columnar growth mechanism and NCD coatings of high thickness display the surface
characteristics of microcrystalline diamond, which are damaging to most of the applications. Sun et
al. proposed composite diamond coatings by the deposition of rough polycrystalline diamond and
smooth fine grained diamond layers to attain thick coatings with smooth surfaces [97]. Sun et al.
fabricated diamond coated tube drawing dies with the deposition of nano and microcrystalline
composite diamond coatings using a squirrel cage HFCVD technique.
Such composite diamond coatings have exhibited good adhesion, high wear resistance and surface

substrate from the deposition temperature to the room temperature and then repeat the deposition
process several times, on the quality and stress of the deposited diamond. This process intended to
allow a partial relaxation of the diamond/titanium thermal stresses by obliging the diamond nuclei
onto the titanium carbide formed interlayer without detachment from the substrate. A hot filament
chemical vapor deposition system fed with ethanol, highly diluted in hydrogen was used. Coatings

The Role of a Trusted Third Party in Enhancing Electronic...
The Role of Trusted Third Party in Enhancing Electronic Commerce Buying online used to be a
bit of a gamble. There were so many ways hackers could access personal information, or even
companies online could sell that information without the consumer knowing. Moreover, it used
to be incredibly easy to make purchases with a stolen credit card. Luckily for all online
shoppers, this is no longer the case. Third party companies like Verisign and Trust e are now
strong providers of security measures which ensure that online transactions can be verified and
trusted, therefore allowing consumers to have greater trust in e commerce and spend more online.
Verisign is one popular company that acts as a third party to millions of e commerce transactions
annually. The company provides authentication services for online e commerce transactions so
that online buyers are more protected when buying products and services online from their
favorite vendors and companies (Verisign 2012). They are now working with Symantec Norton, a
major anti virus and computer program protection software company that has gained a great share
of consumer trust within the marketplace. As part of this collaboration, Verisign also offers
security services that are proven and trusted. One of their primary products is providing
companies with a digital security certificate that authorizes that you are who you say you are
(Obringer 2011). The company also provides Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Certificates, and

The Mark Of The Beast Essay
The old saying The sun never sets on the British empire is a phrase usually associated to reference
the vast swaths of land the English nation acquired through colonial expansion during the 19th and
early 20th centuries. With this in mind, writers during the Late Victorian Gothic period use English
imperial control in places such as India to project perceived English racial superiority, dominance,
and prestige. For instance, in Rudyard Kipling s 1890 work The Mark of the Beast , the primitive
nature of Indian culture is used to make a broader commentary on the advancement of western
society. In order to understand why British authors continually conquer their imperial counterparts
through their writings, sir Henry Frere s 1882 Anthropology... Show more content on

In the story, an Englishman named Fleete is living in India and is cursed by a mysterious Silver
man for defiling an Indian statue dedicated to the god Hanuman. As a result, Fleete slowly turns
into a wolf, a symbolic representation of the descent into the unknown. Eventually, the narrator
and his friend Strickland torture the Silver man into reversing the curse and Fleete returns to his
human form. Kipling s short story relies on two things: the first being India and Indian culture
in general can be perceived by a western audience to be wild, dangerous, and frightening. The
second point being English power, determination, and strength can prevail in such an
environment. Frere s anthropology is critical in understanding the context Kipling s work was
produced in, as powerful British figures like Frere himself asserted that the English were
superior racially and culturally. Frere s assessment that uncivilized aborigines only had value as
village servants, hewers of wood, and drawers of water, as Helots charged to clear away refuse
and dead carcasses (Laws Affecting Civilized and Savage Life 314), demonstrates the belief that
Indian subjects, and eastern people in general, were far below the social ladder. This is one of the
reasons why Kipling s short story would be alarming to a British audience, as the accepted status
quo was between English and non English was

research conducted and reported. This analysis will show areas that could be improved and avoided
in futurestudies and reports.

The authors continued with the study by allowing a larger immediate intervention group and a
dramatically smaller delayed control group than envisioned. The delayed control group was only
8% of the total participants in this study. The authors provided a concise explanation of the
differences in the immediate intervention and the delayed control group. The data analysis stated
they used descriptive statistics for the sample data obtained. The results as described by the author
did have several possible unidentifiable errors particularly in the control group. The results were
discussed with relation to their objectives and the literature review however the analysis was highly
focused on the success of the study and only slightly addressed the limitations of such a small
control group in proportion to the immediate intervention group. The authors went in depth on the
ethical consideration and justification for continuing with the study with the uneven participant
groups. The conclusion of the study demonstrated the authors confidence in the cultural targeting of
education for CRC and the resulting increase in colonoscopy in African Americans.
This study was conducted in a reasonable manner and the limitations were clearly outlined by the
author. However the results

Though there are many different types of elephant across the world, they are most commonly

genuses. Growing ten to twelve feet in height and weighing up to eleven tons, the biggest of all the
elephants and the largest land mammal is my personal favorite, the African bush elephant. These
massive animals are found walking the plains and grasslands in southern and central Africa,
always on the move searching for food and watering holes. Surprising as it may be, these giants
are herbivores and with the less protein intake, these mammals must eat three hundred pounds
of vegetation, or more if pregnant, each day to be able to maintain their bodies. The gestation
period for these mammals is twenty two to twenty four months and after birth the baby will stay
with it s mother and her herd for six years, nursing for the first two of those years. After six years
the baby then is beginning to grow their tusks showing they re nearing adulthood and will either
join the herd, if a female, or go off on his own if a male. The young males after reaching the age
of ten will then be considered sexually mature and will then return to one of the herds if he hears

Juxtaposition In Marigolds By Eugenia Collier
In the story Marigolds , a story by Eugenia Collier, the author uses the literary techniques of
juxtaposition and symbolism to show the overall message that during the coming of age and
maturity in a world full of poverty and darkness, people always look for a light of happiness. The
author uses juxtaposition of the conversation of the mother and father to show how the darkness,
which is represented by the father, is trying to destroy the lightness, which is represented by the
mother. In rage and pain of his poverty bent life, Lizabeth s father is clouded with darkness and
fear, but Lizabeth s mother a still hopeful and looking for something to bring joy to the family.

wild. Ain t nothing right about that. Maybelle responds, Honey, you took good care of us when

contrasts the differences between the parents personalities and displays, just like the differences
between childhood Lizabeth and women Lizabeth. Similarly to how Lizabeth s mother finds
happiness in her family, Lizabeth found happiness in destroying other people s happiness. This
consequently led to her loss of innocence by destroying Miss Lottie s yard, but because of this
she gained compassion in others and through poverty. Marigolds represent happiness that
sometimes have to be destroyed in order to lose innocence and gain compassion, but also the
small feeling of hope and joy when the whole world around you is dark and sinister. The author
uses the technique of symbolism of the marigolds to display how when people are so deep in
depression and poverty, they look for something hopeful and happy to put or plant in their

Arson Is The Criminal Act Of Intentionally Setting A Fire
The definition of arson is the criminal act of purposely setting a fire to property. To a crime scene
investigator arson is one of the most difficult things to investigate for many different reasons. For
starters a fire can take a long time to burn and before any sort of investigation can be done the fireas
to be well and truly out without any chance of it starting back up again. Usually when someone
commits the crime of arson the suspect has planned ahead and is gone before the fire is done
burning so it becomes a challenge to try to determine who has done it. Another problem that
many investigators have is that fire can cause extensive damage to the building that it is set in,
which could be dangerous for anyone who goes in there if the building becomes unstable, and it
can cause a lot of the forensic evidence to burn away. Along with trying to establish a suspect for
the crime it is also hard for investigators to establish a motive because there could be many
different reasons to why someone would commit arson. Like revenge, anger, and the few who
just like to see things burn. The problem with arson however is that it is hard to determine
whether or not the fire was really arson and purposely set or if the fire was accidental. A fire can
be started many different ways and it has many accidental causes. That is what many investigators
have to consider, all the factors of a fire or explosion. Fire investigators have a harder time trying
to investigate a fire scene because

  • 2. American Mink Research Paper My invasive species that I m investigating is the American mink it is invasive in England. The American mink came from North America, and got brought to England in 1929 for fur farming. The American mink s scientific name is Neovison vison and is a semiaquatic, carnivorous animal. That belongs to the mustelid family. The American mink was brought to England for fur farming for economic reasons, but some of the minks escaped into the wild and started breeding. It took them 30 years to establish after they escaped. When the otter s population dropped the minks started to grow in numbers because the otters ate the minks. The mink s predators are birds of prey, owls, foxes, coyotes, lynx, and otters. The American mink breed by the male biting the female on the neck and pinning her down with his forefeet mating normally goes for 10 mins 4 hours. Mating season is in ... The water vole s in England are endangered and is the most effected species in the 20th century because of the American mink. Now there are more than 110,000 American minks in England. The American mink brought light tick, fleas and diseases with them when it came to England. Which affected cattle and sheep which was bad for farmers. The American mink is considered an invasive species because they are feral animals and, because they kill native animals and spread diseases that are fatal to the native animals. To try stop the American mink they are going to use humane methods the best one so far is catching it in a cage and then shooting it in the head. Gwent Wildlife Trust is doing its best to control the American mink and many other people have been hunting and killing them. They are trying to stop the American mink because it is killing the water voles which are endangered and could soon be extinct if they don t stop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Field Experience At Bushwick United Head Start Program For my field experience, I had the opportunity to observe a four year old pre kindergarten classroom on November 5th and 12th at Bushwick United Head Start program. The school is located at 136 Stanhope street, Brooklyn, N.Y. Majority of the families the school serve are Hispanics, and as a result, the student body entails mostly ELL students. There are approximately 130 students enrolled in the program, and out of that 130, about 10% speaks English. The school uses an additive model of English Language to support both the student s home language and foster and support English language acquisition. The classrooms are staffed with teachers who speak the children s home language, who can apply some use of the home language within the classroom and providing hands on experiences for students. Additionally, to support students with disability, the school also partnered with United Community Services (UCS), a program that offers speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy to students. The school uses the evidence based Creative Curriculum. The Creative Curriculum is aligned with Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC guidelines and the NY State Prekindergarten Common Core Standards. The classroom I observed consists of seventeen students, eight of which girls and nine are boys. Of the seventeen students, nine receive services from UCS, and five of which understood and speak English, though not fluently. The students are often pulled out the classroom to receive ... • 4. Capital One Capital One Financial Corporation 1. How is Capital One s use of IT different from other mass customization strategies? Capital One uses IT through its information based strategy (IBS) to record, organize, and analyze data on the characteristics and behaviors of their customers, as stated by CEO Richard Fairbank. Their philosophy was to exploit information by constructing scientific models that could be used to both assess the creditworthiness of potential cardholders through FICO scoring, and to customize product offerings for existing ones. This was done through data mining, sorting, customizing offers and marketing campaigns, and then analyzing this data to see what campaigns worked for what reason and what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Behavioral interviews, case interviews, and standardized tests were used to find raw talent without focusing on prior industry or marketing experience. These four things are what separates Capital One from its competition, and will sustain their competitive advantage in the future. 3. What are the consequences of Capital One s IT strategy for expansion into different segments of the credit card industry, and into other industry s? The immediate consequences of their expansion strategy proved the efficiency of their statistical modeling to inhibit Capital One from taking any missteps into industry s that are either saturated or do not allow enough growth in the future. Capital One considered expanding into auto insurance and auto financing, but fierce competition, low margins, and stringent regulation kept them from pursuing this immediately. (Capital One did recently acquire Summit Acceptance Corporation an auto financing company that focused on the sub prime market). Next they looked at the energy and telecom industries, but consumer energy usage patterns are available publicly which kept them from exploring this option further. America One was created which resold blocks of calling time enabling Capital One to gain a foothold in telecom. An ancillary effect of Capital One looking to broaden its horizons into other industries will promote other companies to review their current IT systems to see where their inefficiencies lie, so they can ... • 5. Critically Looking At The Research Critically Looking at the Research While this research project was taking place, a method(s) of research had to be chosen. Multiple options were considered such as online research, questioners, and interviews. It was found that the questionnaires would not help the research because the information that was needed could not be extrapolated out of a questionnaire. Secondly, interview(s) were ruled out of the question because there was no one that could be found and contacted that was creditable. There was, however, an exception to do with the interview later on in the research. This was to do with the required help on some of the complicated math faced in the project. This was accomplished with the knowledge of one of the schools mathematics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When conducting the research, difficulties and challenges were experienced. One of the big problems faced was finding a way to convert the differential equation into a function. Research online helped narrow down the problem, and then specifically having a talk/interview with math s personal at the school allowed for a solution to be found. Throughout the research the most useful source was, Population Dynamics of Western Atlantic Bluefin Tuna: Modeling the Impacts of Fishing using Differential Equations. The source was the most useful because of the connections that was shown between population models and mathematics. The reliability was judged to be high because of the authors Esther Bowen, Marie Hoerner, and Cassie Kontur. The information stated was backed up by other sources and judged to be accurate. Lastly the information displayed was up to date and on topic. If this research task was to be redone, there are a few improvements that could be made. Firstly the topic was a little broad if the topic was narrowed down more, a more informative research project could have been created. Secondly, more time with a specialist in mathematics, and more help specifically with differential equation and calculus would have been externally productive. The mathematical aspect of the research project would have been a lot stronger with more/longer access to math experts. For example an improvement of converting the differential equation to a function that has the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Furthermore, the concept of how each can be their own being while also existing as one is hard for many to understand. In this paper, one will see arguments for the existence of God, how God was creator and forgiver, how Jesuswas also the creator and forgiver, and how the Father, Son, and Holy Spiritare all one. Matthew Henry talked about in his commentary of first chapter of Genesis the way that God was the author and cause of this great work, and that the Godhead was at work creating the earth. The power of God the Creator. El signifies the strong God; and what less than almighty strength could bring all things out of nothing? The plurality of persons in the Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. This plural name of God, in Hebrew, which speaks of him as many though he is one, was to the Gentiles perhaps a savour of death unto death, hardening them in their idolatry; but it is to us a savour of life unto life, confirming our faith in the doctrine of the Trinity, which, though but darkly intimated in the Old Testament, is clearly revealed in the New (Henry, n.d.). Not long after creation Adam and Eve fell into temptation, and found themselves aware of their nakedness, hiding from God. Genesis 3:11 He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat? God knew that they had disobeyed him and because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These trends are not confined to European or American music markets. Baidu, China s largest online search company, recently signed a deal with rights holders to license music on its website for both free download and streaming (Hille, 2011). The surge in popularity has led some to believe that the digital music market represents the recording industry s next sustainable business model, along with diversification into live events and merchandise. However, relatively little is understood about the consumer who uses a combination of legal and illegal sources to acquire music a la carte. In the decade prior to the Internet, the music industry was relatively healthy overall with worldwide sales peaking in 1998 (Baym, 2010). Since then, peer to peer (P2P) networks such as Napster have contributed to the decline in sales of CDs. There is some disagreement about the extent to which file sharing has negatively impacted the recording; however, evidence points to copyright infringement as a significant factor. The digitalization of music effectively removed the industry s monopoly on high quality reproduction so that illegal copies were of equal standard to the original (May, 2007). Concomitantly, the intangible nature of digital music has resulted in new consumption practices. Efforts to counter digital piracy have primarily used legal mechanisms to dismantle P2P networks and prosecute file sharers. More ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These species have stable temperaments and are less probable to show aggressive behavior. Macaws, even the smaller ones have a wonderful sense of bigness , result of their genetic traits, and can sometimes overreact to unfamiliar objects or something they see as a threat. Other species like cockatiels, African Grey Parrot, small Budgies can show aggressive behavior during the mating season, especially males. Kant s Refutations of the Proofs of the Existence of God There are three types of proof for the existance of God: The Ontological Proof: God is the most perfect conceivable being. If this cause is alsocontingent, then it too must also have a cause. This chain ofcauses and effects must have a beginning a necessary cause. Thisnecessary cause must be God. As soon as a person has admitted that he/she has a concept of God , by this argument, then that person has also admitted God s existence (in the same way that admitting you have the concept of a triangle is, is to admit that a triangle has three angles). Like most of Kant s topics of discussion, it is difficult to fully grasp the entirety of what is being said. However, unlike most other cases, this time I don t think it s entirely his fault. In fact, his refutation to this deceivingly simple argument is (perhaps deceivingly) actually quite simple. Existence cannot be a predicate. In the sentence Thomas is the teacher , the word is is not the predicate, but it is the word that implies existence. Therefore, the sentence God is does not contain a predicate. A predicate is a word that ads a quality to the concept of the thing it is applied to existence is not a quality. The cosmological argument, according to Kant, is too well known for it to be necessary to expound it in detail here (P570), so if you don t know it, you can join me in feeling like an idiot #8230; However, he then goes on to quickly explain the argument. I also took the liberty of finding out where this argument came from and it seems to have started with Aristotle and also used by Aquinas. There are so many bacteria, and they evolve so rapidly, that they will develop defenses to any chemical attack we make. Bacteria have even been known to develop resistance to bleach and other harsh chemicals (6). They are faster than we are. While we can slow them down through more responsible use of our antibiotics, if we do not change our approach, we will lose. There are two significant alternate approaches we could use to target and kill bacteria. One potential alternate approach to the treatment of infectious disease is utilizing monoclonal antibodies to supplement our own immune systems. Monoclonal antibodies are pure cultures of antibodies (the body s primary foreign substance detection molecules) artificially produced to react to a single specific substance or protein. By utilizing monoclonal antibodies to treat bacterial infection, we would be flagging the bacteria for the body s immune system to come kill them. As the body already flags bacteria to some extent, all monoclonal antibodies can do is enhance the activity of the immune system, which would be ineffective in people with compromised immune systems. Additionally, monoclonal antibodies would have to be developed for each individual strain of bacteria, and bacteria could easily change and render the antibody useless. While it would ... Globalization is the thought of corporations transferring employment overseas to those who will work for less. However, globalization can be expressed even wider, which incorporates numerous influences. With that being said, the most fitting meaning would be that globalization is the collapse of barriers among countries permitting labor, goods, and services to be freely exchanged. Consequently, one feature that appears to be debatable is the how globalization has moved the prosperity of others. For instance, subcontracting has led to a massive majority of employment for people in underdeveloped countries giving the ability to gradually creep out of poverty. But yet there are still additional countries that observe their poverty rate rise steeply. We will take a provocative look at globalization, where it improves a country such as Nigerias economy. We will talk about how things like Nigeria s use of Credit, reliance on foreign technologies, lack of raw materials, production of substandard goods, government policies and education comes into effect on their actual rapid growth in the economic aspect. The organization of the Nigerian economy is a characteristic of an underdeveloped country. However the method of using a strip search has become outdated and unnecessary in modern society. The people of Canada should be protected from these searches as they have the right to privacy and protection from invasive search practices. If that is the case, why should the OPP be allowed to infringe on our rights through strip searches? This early maturity in adolescence resulted in the desire for independence and rejection of authority which is commonly associated with teenagers. Aquifers, unconsolidated subterranean layers which hold water, are rapidly dwindling, and groundwater depletion is quickly growing to become a major problem for farmers and the public at large. Reserves close to ground level are rapidly drying up and due to technological roadblocks, extracting water from deeper reserves is not yet financially feasible. The problem is especially severe in California, which represents around 20% of all groundwater withdrawal in the United States (Famiglietti, LA Times). A lack of water for agriculture would directly lead to diminished food production and indirectly lead to requiring food imports from outside the state. Groundwater resources are an unregulated public resource and despite any innovative breakthrough in extraction techniques, the only sustainable, long term solution is to enforce limits on extraction. Regulation of how much groundwater can be extracted from an aquifer in a set period of time; along with incentives to obtain water from alternative sources is the ideal solution to address the perennially growing challenge of groundwater depletion in California. This is how readers have always started out studying the Bible. Little did they know there was an entirely different account of creation just a little ways down from the first account they see in Genesis. So, is there really two different accounts of God creating the Earth in the Bible? Some people believe yes, others believe, no. Throughout this essay I will be taking a deeper look into the two accounts of creation by comparing and contrasting the time periods, accounts of vegetation, and the animal life that God created. The Bible can be a tricky piece of literature to read, but I am going to break it down to view the accounts in a more in depth view. In the beginning of Genesis we are introduced to God and he is beginning to make the Earth as we know it today. The first book of Genesisdiscusses the way God just had to speak and his words would bring life to the planet. Genesis 1 takes us on a journey through all six days of creation. Throughout the six days God manages to create the heavens and the earth, the sky, land, stars, all the creatures that live in the water, and all the creatures that inhabit the land. Genesis 2 starts out telling us about what God ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Authors incorporate Shakespeare s writing in some way and change things a bit to make their own story. Reflection In literature class, we could apply this concept because many literary works are influenced by Shakespeare and other writings, which we can use to make connections and it can be considered as a text to text situation. • 42. The Stereotypes Of Disney s Hidden Glass Ceiling Royal diversity Disney s Hidden Glass Ceiling What is the glass ceiling? How can we change it? And where does Disney fit into this? One of the earliest citation came from the magazine world in 1984. It was basically about women who reach a certain point in middle management where they get stuck and they are unable to move forward. Since then the definition has broadened it s become a metaphor that represents an invisible barrier that keeps a given demographic (usually women and minorities) from rising beyond. Believe it or not, Disney has contributed its fair share to this with some of its beloved animated princess movies. Most of them featured the helpless female who eventually finds their prince charming, who then sweeps her off her feet, then suddenly her whole life changes she lives happily ever after. Sadly, that sends a message to our young girls that to have happiness and a purpose they need to have a man to achieve that. Disney has had some success with moving away from female passivity in stories featuring white characters. In Mulan and the princess and the frog, Disney did not achieve genderor racial equality. The Disney franchise is a powerful force in the lives of young girls, especially girls of color seeking same racerole models in the public eye (. Dundes, Streiff, 2016, p1). The Mark Of The Beast Essay The old saying The sun never sets on the British empire is a phrase usually associated to reference the vast swaths of land the English nation acquired through colonial expansion during the 19th and early 20th centuries. With this in mind, writers during the Late Victorian Gothic period use English imperial control in places such as India to project perceived English racial superiority, dominance, and prestige. For instance, in Rudyard Kipling s 1890 work The Mark of the Beast , the primitive nature of Indian culture is used to make a broader commentary on the advancement of western society. As a result, Fleete slowly turns into a wolf, a symbolic representation of the descent into the unknown. Eventually, the narrator and his friend Strickland torture the Silver man into reversing the curse and Fleete returns to his human form. Kipling s short story relies on two things: the first being India and Indian culture in general can be perceived by a western audience to be wild, dangerous, and frightening. The second point being English power, determination, and strength can prevail in such an environment. Frere s anthropology is critical in understanding the context Kipling s work was produced in, as powerful British figures like Frere himself asserted that the English were superior racially and culturally. Frere s assessment that uncivilized aborigines only had value as village servants, hewers of wood, and drawers of water, as Helots charged to clear away refuse and dead carcasses (Laws Affecting Civilized and Savage Life 314), demonstrates the belief that Indian subjects, and eastern people in general, were far below the social ladder. To a crime scene investigator arson is one of the most difficult things to investigate for many different reasons. For starters a fire can take a long time to burn and before any sort of investigation can be done the fireas to be well and truly out without any chance of it starting back up again. Usually when someone commits the crime of arson the suspect has planned ahead and is gone before the fire is done burning so it becomes a challenge to try to determine who has done it. Another problem that many investigators have is that fire can cause extensive damage to the building that it is set in, which could be dangerous for anyone who goes in there if the building becomes unstable, and it can cause a lot of the forensic evidence to burn away. Along with trying to establish a suspect for the crime it is also hard for investigators to establish a motive because there could be many different reasons to why someone would commit arson. Like revenge, anger, and the few who just like to see things burn. The problem with arson however is that it is hard to determine whether or not the fire was really arson and purposely set or if the fire was accidental.
