Cultural Diversity and the Impossibility of a True...
Cultural Diversity and the Impossibility of a True Melting Pot
The core standards of America are founded, in principle, on the basis of its diversity and equality
among citizens. Begin ning with its Declaration of Independence, the United States distinguished
itself from other modern nation states by establishing a country of men who were different but
equal. Yet, despite the unifying images America projects within and beyond its borders
, the idea
behind E Pluribus Unum does not resound as one might assume it would.
E Pluribus Unum was originally intended to be both a representation of the union of the thirteen
colonies and an expression of the United States as a country formed by immigrants of many
different backgrounds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
E Pluribus Unum may show the United States to be a country formed of many different cultures,
and it may suggest the equality of all people, but even today many people, especially those of non
European ancestry, are often looked upon as secondary or non citizens and are placed in a socially
subservient position.
Since September 11, 2001, various communities within the United States seemed to be uniting for a
time, despite the differences that typically undermine the original intentions behind E Pluribus
Unum. Especially in places such as New York City, which is known world wide as a mecca of
diversity within its tightly confined parameters, people have been embracing each other as people
rather than as members of cultures other than their own. But there has been a backlash as well, an
increase in violent types of discrimination and prejudice in and near communities of Americans
whose descent is Middle Eastern. Many non Middle Eastern Americans blame all people who
appear Middle Eastern as culpable for what happened on September 11. So the attention paid to
culture, now, is based on the differences between Middle Eastern cultures and non Middle Eastern
cultures in America.
I wanted to explore how American citizens choose, especially after the events of September 11, to
deal with cultures found within the United States that differ from their own. I chose to interview
two people with strong, contrasting convictions about

The Process Cycle Will Involve 4 Steps
The process cycle will involve 4 steps. These steps are In checking, Pulling/ system Processing,
System Moving Labeling, Physical Moving. The average time for this process cycle from the
time that an Item is in checked to when the Items is move to the Pickup Delivery Bins takes 375
seconds which is 6 Minutes and 15 Seconds. The estimated Takt time is depending on whether it
is a priority item or a general cargo item. According to policy, priority items must be in the
customer s hand within one hour (3,600 seconds) of receipt by TMO. The takt time will vary
depending on the proximity of the customer to the TMO Warehouse, so location will affect
TMO ability to meet takt time. Therefore if the customer is located 40 minutes away, out takt
time for priority times will be 20 minutes, if our customer is 55 minutes away, out takt time will
be 5 minutes. Leadership Policy indicate that general cargo items must be available to the
customer within 72 Hours of Receipt and seaport items within a 168 hours (a week). Process Cycle

Financial Statements And The Financial Statement
Financial statements have several key components and specific criteria into them to relay the
detailed information for auditors and management. A deeper look into financial statements and the
many concepts surrounding them are needed to explain in more detail. It s also important to
recognize the Auditor s opinion letter, balance sheet, operating statement, statement of changes in
net assets, and statement of cash flows and footnotes of their involvement in the process. Relevant
accounting articles are a useful supplement to financial statements and how they enhance concepts
in the financial statement. The meaningful uses of financial statements for health care
organizations are the epitome of current and future success of financial... Show more content on

Next, the receivables would decrease and give the balance left. Lack of copayments and a number
of reasons of patients not paying their bills or copays not collected. The final result shows a bad
debt balance of the percentage of uncollected copays and the amount of copays collected giving the
accounts receivable, net an overall balance.
Inventory is important to consider for the balance sheet as it s listed after receivables since its
less liquid than receivables. This is how patient care services are provided from inventory. The
process starts when the services have been provided, notification of a bill sent to patient, then
accounts receivables grow. As a result, inventory takes longer to convert to cash than receivables
because it hasn t been used to provide services. Next, cash is the most universal way to pay for
items. Also, cash includes amounts on deposit in checking and savings accounts and cash on hand.
Marketable securities are listed to be probably liquidated in the near future. A beneficial factor of
marketable securities is they can be converted into cash in only a few days. In addition, marketable
securities that the organization intends to hold as long term investments shouldn t be listed with
current assets, but instead under a long term investment category after fixed assets, (Finkler, S.A.,
Ward, D.M. Calabrese, I.D., 2013).

Regulation Before Restriction Essay
Americans spend about ninety percent of their food budget on processed foods, which, unlike
whole foods, have been treated, stripped, altered, or refined in some way after being harvested or
butchered ( Additives ). Most food industries believe preservatives make food last longer. More
importantly, preservativeare cheaper and therefore better for the company s budget. Although,
organic ingredients and foods would be more expensive, and because of this, we have the
ultimate question: what is your value based on, your money or your health? By spending less
money, we are able to save our wallet, but by spending more money, we are able to save our body.
So what is the cost oh keeping preservatives legal? The cost is far too many lives and... Show more

While there are benefits in preservatives in order to preserve shelf life, these preservatives could
also negatively impact your vital organs causing decline in their functions. Are preservatives and
additives like this helping or hindering? Even foods which most would consider to be preservative
free and healthy often contains those additives. Take salad as an example, most Americans consider
it a healthy lunch. But it does not cross the average American s mind that something supposedly
healthy such as salad would bring issues due to the preservatives that were once present in them.
Anastasia Toufexis, Time Magazine author, informs us that sulfites were put in salads and
vegetables to keep them from wilting and discoloring. However, in the 1980s, the FDA took control
and limited the intake of sulfites by mandating that foods containing more than 10 parts per million
of sulfites must list this information on the food label. (Robin) The FDA has yet to ban them, they
simply require food companies to list them on the label. Currently, most Americans also see the
protein foods or meal replacement shakes they eat after working out or to lose weight as healthy;
however, most of these are also full of preservatives. Men s Fitness focuses on the food that people
eat it without thinking because it says it is meant to help fitness. People are unaware that the
majority of the ingredients in health foods are still acids, preservatives, and mostly, sugar. This fact

The Wife s Lament Essay
The Wife s Lament
Over the years, there have been many interpretations of who the speaker of The Wife s Lament
could be. These range from very interesting ideas to ones that seem a little rough around the
edges. It is obvious that no sure answer can be found due to the fact that whoever wrote this
poem is dead and that the answer will always be in speculation even if it is correct. Hopefully, at
the end of this quest I will be slightly more enlightened as to who the true speaker may really be.
There are some things that we do know about this poem. It is most often referred to as an elegy
because of the mood of mourning and regret. Upon further reading I discovered that this poem is
like others of its time period. Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have the right to say what miseries I have endured since I grew up, new or old never greater than
now. Even though this poem is relatively short, the vivid expression of grief is somewhat awe
inspiring.
The first interpretation of who the speaker is in The Wife s Lament is very shaky and not well
accepted among scholars and even the average reader. This interpretation is that the speaker may
be a male and not a female as we all believe. It was very common in Anglo Saxon times for the
lord of a group of people to be more to them than a ruler. Very often he would become a close
friend to his people and they loved him like family. The relationship between lord and man was
more than just a business arrangement and although they were working for the lord, he was
respected much like a father figure would be. The problem with this interpretation is that the
grammatical gender is feminine. This is the reason why everyone assumes that the speaker is a
female. Supporters of this reading of The Wife s Lament believe that somewhere along the line
of translating the poem the translator made a mistake and changed the gender of the speaker. As I
have already said, this interpretation is very rough around the edges and rather hard to believe. I
believe that if the speaker were male then there would be no real reason for his being exiled in this
fashion. It was not a custom for communities to allow foreigners in thus falsifying

Comparing Hardships And Challenges In Refugee, By Alan Gratz
No one is prepared for war and the most challenging decisions you will have to make to survive.
Although each character in Refugee, by Alan Gratz, is from a different time and place, they each
share similar hardships and challenges in their experiences, such as they were all forced from their
homes, they all lose a familymember, and their problems begin in their own country.
All of the characters were forced from their home sometime during this book. Josef, a German
Jew during WW2 had to leave his home due to the violence brought by the Nazis. Josef didn t
want to leave. Germany was his home. (6). Josef s father was taken to a concentration camp and
was released 6 months after but only if he left the country within 14 days. Josef knew it was
unfair, that because he was Jewish that he must be punished for it. Later, Josef settled in France
but the Nazis have begun to take over most parts of France. One of Rachel Landau s children
would go free, one of her children would go into the camps (291). The Germans find Josef, his
mother, and Ruthie his sister and are asked for their papers which have a big stamped J on it for
Jew. His mother tries to bribe the soldiers but they say it is only enough for one of her children
to go free. Josef senses that this is the time to finally become a man and save his sister from the
horrors inside of those camps. He sacrifices himself so Ruthie can escape the Nazis and is taken to
the concentration camps with his mother. Josef and His mother, died in the camp and never got to
see Ruthie again.
Isabel, is a girl living in Cuba during Fidel Castro s reign and the economic crisis. Early in the
book, a riot occurred against the government s unfair rights and that night Fidel gave the people to
leave the country without punishment. Papi had to leave Cuba. Tonight (29). Isabel s father had
been the one to initiate the riot and the police noticed this action. They said they were going to find
him and put him in prison. Isabel s family knew they must leave the country. After they leave the
country on their neighbors raft they can finally see Miami s shore but the United States coast guard
begins to notice them. don t stop rowing for shore! Isabel s grandfather yelled to

The Casey Anthony Trial
Throughout one s life many are prone to being in one of America s many courtrooms at least
once in their life. Whether it is for a parking ticket, a petty larceny charge, or simply jury duty
most citizens have been in a courtroom once or twice. However, it is rare that one knows the
many steps and processes that take place when a crime has been convicted. There is an excess
number of elements that are introduced and just to name a few it all starts with the occurrence of
the crime, then follows the arrest, proceeded by an arraignment, bail hearing and any more steps
before finally reaching the final verdict that lands one with guilt or innocence (Neubrauer,
Fadella 2013). Based on the laws in place by the United States and the Constitution one must be
able to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. If there is doubt at all in the jurors minds, they
cannot convict the individual of being guilty and lately this has created a lot of controversy in the
United States with many cases being tried. For example, the Casey Anthony case that took place in
Florida was one of the most recent states where Common Law and the Constitution were unable to
be reconcilable to prove one s guilt.

Difference Between Market Economy And Mixed Economy
In order for a country to run, it needs to sustain a stable economy. A country can choose one of the
three economies; Market economy, Planned economy, and Mixed economy. Market economy is
primarily based on supply and demand and is described as a shift right on the economic spectrum.
As well, resources are privately owned by businesses rather than the government. Market economy
is primarily controlled by the consumers who drive the economic decision making with little
government involvement. Words such as Individualism and Capitalism can be used to describe
Market Economy. However, no country can ever be a 100% market economy even though countries
such as The United States of America are extremely far right on the economic spectrum. Planned
Economyis primarily controlled and managed by the government with little intervention from the
consumers and is described as a shift left on the economic spectrum. Also, in a planned economy,
the government makes decisions regarding scarcity and also finds solutions on how to terminate it
by varying the production, distribution, and consumption of products. Collectivism can also be
used to describe Planned Economies. However, similarly to market economies, no country can ever
be 100% Planned Economy even though countries such as North Korea fall extremely far left on
the economic spectrum. A mixture of both these economies would be described as a mixed
economy and it would be placed centrally on the economic spectrum. Resources are

Stereotypes In American Beauty
The film I will be analyzing is American Beauty written by Alan Ball. I will be discussing the
representation of men and the male body. This late 90 s narrative structure film American Beauty
narrates the changes in gender roles and how they have impacted society in contrast to the
traditional male bread winners and female homemakers of past times. The characters in this filmare
defined through their sexuality in the roles they play. This film also relates to the theme of identity
and explores the expectations society has placed on stereotypes in how we function and how we
identify ourselves.
From the beginning of this film one can immediately see who wears the pants in the family. Lester
Burnham, a magazine writer who despises his job is frustrated with his marriage and has little
sexual contact with his wife Carolyn. Although, Lester is a male he portrays a traditional
submissive female role in this film. Carolyn, an ambitious real estate broker, who is also
discontented with her their marriage is having an affair with another realtor. She takes on a more
male dominating role in the family. In this active role, Carolyn becomes the strong central female
character, assuming untraditional masculine roles where men have been considered more active in
earlier decades.

continual use of the color red throughout his fantasies projects Lester s desire and lust for Angela.

fragmentation of Angela s body. Lester s lust for Angela causes him to become obsessed with
working out to attract her attention, but Jane is actually interested in Ricky, the Burnham s new
neighbor who lives with his strict retired military father, Colonel

The Winter Season Is The Worst Of Seasons
The winter season is the worst of seasons. This is my opinion and it s strong. I am not sure if it s
the fact that I don t have enough meat on my bones to retain heat (especially on my fingertips and
toes), or that with winter comes seasonal depression, and everyone around me including myself
gets in these bad moods, and it seems like there is always something wrong. It may be the fact that
bad things tend to happen to me during this season; all I know is, me and winterjust do not get

Obviously we were in an emergent situation, but things weren t moving at an emergent speed.
The road conditions that evening weren t particularly safe and my mom didn t trust our little

work so we could use his much more trusty truck. As we were waiting, I noticed my brother s
face and I could tell that the anticipation of my father s arrival was killing him: I knew, he knew,
we all knew, he would be getting a world famous father son you did something very wrong talks.
When my dad did get home, my brother fled to his room so fast, you could still see the outline of
his quivering body in the dust behind him like in the cartoons. I never knew what was to come of
that night for him and I don t think I ll ever ask. I think he s still shaken up about it. I got in the
truck immediately and my mom and I were off to the hospital.
Movies make emergency rooms seem like all that they see is gunshots, chainsaw mishaps, and
horrific car accidents, however upon my arrival, all I observed was an older couple and a man
sitting in the waiting room. No missing limbs or blood in sight. My mom had dropped me off and
went to go park the truck; while she was doing this, the nurse

Health Statistics Course Analysis
This course definitely improved my knowledge and ability by helping me build a foundation of

studies of research in my current health profession as a Healthcare Sergeant in the Army. I am now
able to implement the probability theory on which inferential statistics are based as well as being
able to distinguish between a statistical sample and a population. Throughout the course I realized

what topics to educate our Soldiers to prevent illness and injury. As this course comes to an end I
have reflected on the course outcomes and determined that I have successfully achieved the
intended learning objectives in the five Modules. I have demonstrated the ability to describe
statistics, determine sources and users of Health Statistics. I have been able to identify and
demonstrate the importance of the Central Limit Theorem to the study of Health Statistics. As
mentioned in my reflective discussion posting I took special interest in the ability to demonstrate
the ability to compute descriptive statistics in order to describe the characteristics of a data set as
well as applying elementary probability theory to health sciences data. I also mentioned earlier
that the ability to conduct parametric and nonparametric inferential statistical tests: t tests, chi
square analyses proved to be the most difficult for me to learn. Overall this course was very
useful for me and will improve the way I run my medical company here in Kuwait. I believe our
work here will improve the quality of care through statistical review of our standard operating
procedures and protocols in the aid station. I appreciate the learning opportunity this course offered

Summary Of The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire By Frances...
Frances Perkins came from a wealthy family in Maine that lived a traditional Yankee lifestyle.
From her mother, she learned at a young age to be stingy with money, Ernest, and brutally
honest. In 1902, she attended Mount Holyoke College where she used her glibness to bearly get
by. Frances suffered the most in Latin and Chemistry and was forced by her professors, Ester Van
Dieman and Nellie Goldthwaite respectively, to excel in them. Instead of focusing on improving
her strengths, Frances professors sought to improve her weaknesses; Especially her moral
weaknesses. This was done with the idea in mind that if she were to overcome her shortcomings
she would be able to conquer anything life threw at her. After graduation Frances struggled to find
something meaningful to do with her life; That is the tragedy of The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire
. Having witnessed the tragedy first hand, and listening to the emotional speech of Russian
immigrant, Rose Schneiderman, the representative of those that perished in the fire, Frances set out
to change the laws of labor rights all over the country.
Frances Perkins was responsible for aiding the reconstruction of labor protection laws. She was
placed by Governor Al Smith in the Industrial Commission where she traveled to factory towns all
over the country and involved herself the in the hostile strikes and disorderly disputes between
workers and their higher ups; Trying to resolve any injustices that she saw fit to tackle.

Classifying Glucokinase in Bacteria Essay
Glucokinase (glk A) is classified in bacteria based upon having ATP binding site and ROK motif,
the sequence of glk A gene (JN645812) of S. aureus ATCC12600 showed presence of ATP binding
site and ROK motif. We have earlier observed glk A of S. aureus has higher affinity towards the
substrate compared to other bacterial glk A and under anaerobic condition with increased glucose
concentration S. aureus exhibited higher rate of biofilmformation. To establish this, 3D structure of
glk A was built using homology modeling method, the PROCHECK and ProSA Web analysis

Glycolysis is a major pathway in S. aureus; 85% 90% of the glucose is catabolised through EMP
pathway[3, 29]. The very first step of glycolysis is the formation of G 6 P, this is the ubiquitous
anabolic intermediate that has essential role in the pathogen from energy generation in the
catabolic reactions and upregulation of polysaccharide intracellular adhesion synthesis, virulence
factors, cell wall synthesis and formation of SCV are the key characteristic features of drug
resistant strains like MDR and VRSA. Polysaccharide intercellular adhesion is a polymer of N
acetyl glucosamine involved in the formation of adhesive exopolysaccharide matrix. This provides
structural stability to biofilms, enhanced adhesion to surfaces made protection from host defenses
and antibiotics[10, 36]. Majority of G 6 P formation is catalysed by cytoplasmic glk A, this glk A

Why I Want to Be a Civil Engineer
While relaxing comfortably after a day of school by playing chess with my brother, my father
asked me to accompany him to see a new client. The client told my father that he wanted a new
addition to his home since his two sons wanted to have separate rooms. I stood there earnestly
listening while my father explained to him how he was going to accomplish that and even
sketched out how the house would look afterward. The client was impressed and told my father
that he should start immediately with the project. At home, my father asked me whether I wanted
to see him at work on his new project and after agreeing enthusiastically, he got right to work
teaching me his approach for the design he would present to the architect. I will always remember
the moment when I finally saw the addition finished that my father and I had worked on. It was a
remarkable feeling because I saw a concept that was on paper come to life. Since middle school, I
have been focused on going to a collegethat will successfully prepare me for a career in engineering
. I have known that I wanted to pursue engineering ever since the moment my father introduced me
to the world of architecture and engineering. Since he is a home improvement contractor, he was
able to teach me about blueprints of previous homes that he had renovated. My father helped me
comprehend the various pages of blueprints and later allowed me to help him out in designing a
new addition for a client. But before I came to middle school,

How Did Adolf Hitler s Rise To Power
Adolf Hitler s young life actions and outcomes made him into the man he was. He fought in
World War I (WWI) as a young soldier. Hitler s rise to power was interesting. He was given
power from the death of the previous man in power. During his time of power Adolf started the
Holocaust which affected the lives of millions, and killed millions of innocent people, he did so
because of a belief of the Jews in 1918. Hitler ended up dying in the end just like any other
person but he died in an interesting and fashionable way. Some believe he didn t even die at that
time at all, people still question and don t know if he died from suicide or if he ran off into hiding
for a long time. Considering Adolf Hitlers infamous actions as a major leader, it is safe to say that
his childhood, beginnings as a soldier, and the Nazi Party/Holocaust, all play a major role in his
rise to power, and how his life turned out. Hitler was a man that wanted... Show more content on

Lab Experiment
The following lab report will determine if the mass of the unknown object be predicted based on
the analysis of previous data. The purpose of this lab experiment is to find the mass of an
unknown object. The way this experiment will be accomplished is through a use of the line
regression method. This lab will begin with eight objects whose massis known to see if there is a
perfect fit relation between the mass of the objects to the period that is being tested. This lab
consists of the use of five materials that included a standard masses, a stopwatch, tape, a C clamp,

Therefore the mass of the unknown object could be predicted based on the analysis of data
through the use of linear regression form. This is because the scared plots of the second graph
created best resemble a straight line, meaning that the unknown mass is predictable and can be
placed on the graph. An R2 value of one or close to one means the relation is fit and present. The
mass of the unknown object was determined through the use of the linear regression equation of
the second graph. The period of this unknown mass was squared and then inserted this number
into the period squared equation. The mass was determined to be between about 330g. Like in
any other experiment there is room for error, this room for error is present since the results are
based of numbers that aren t completely exact. The graph of period squared vs mass proved to
only be trusted after 300g, the graph for period vs mass had the same results. A questionable
scatter point that did arise was on the graph for period squared vs mass. In this graph a plot was
placed at .011 seconds which compared to the others is quite different. This could be the error in
the experiment, outside factors such as the force that was applied to the object could have
dramatically changed the results. In order to control this factor and get more accurate results the
experiment would have to factor that the same force be applied to each

I-Ching History
The ancient history of China has several aspects that have changed over the years, slowly
developing a diverse process compared to the past. Although China has reformed over the years, but
the history remains within the society. However, many of these improvements would have
similarities closely linking back to the history of how Chinese fortune telling was created. Back in
1600 BCE during the Shang Dynasty, fortune telling had used the discovery of oracle bones to
uncover one s path. Later different techniques evolved over time such as the I Ching method in the
Zhou Dynasty from 1046 BCE, as well as many others throughout the dynasties that now

I Ching had become the new method that was discovered during the Zhou Dynasty to tell
fortunes. The technique of I Ching also known as the book of changes was a method formed with
sixty four hexagrams, with a symbol that consisted of six lines, that is either broken or unbroken.
Whether the lines are broken or unbroken, it gives a meaning behind it of the fortunes. The
representations of shadows if the line is broken and light if it is unbroken. Therefore, this creates
their fate. The hexagrams can be created through the procedure of throwing yellow straws or a coin
toss. Slowly, I Ching had gained recognition and became extremely popular in 1046 BCE. However,
due to the popularity of the new fortune telling method, eventually, this led to the neglection of
oracle bones as it was not used as frequently as it was during the Shang Dynasty. Although oracle
bones had been replaced by I Ching, oracle bones were still the beginning of the existent of fortune
telling, which has an importance of value within the history of creating a further development of
changes in Chinese fortune telling. Hence, this represents that fortune telling had developed within
the Zhou dynasty by creating a change in the future of how fortune telling will continue to

“Why Byzantine Economy Remained One of the Most Powerful...
Why Byzantine economy remained one of the most powerful in Europe through Early Middle Ages?
The Byzantine cconomy was one of the largest systems throughout Europe and the Mediterannean

Empire. Lower class, including traders, depended on the upper class. Their need of the foreign
goods in order to stay in Local trade was much less popular. Throughout the fourth and sixth

The Byzantines considered land a common resource, not to be bought or sold, but it is valuable
only if the men were invesing in it. The biggest loss of the inhabitants and land was in 541 due to
the plague, where Constantinopole lost 40 % of its inhabitants. It affected both cities and
countryside, as well as the routes of trading and communication, and significantly shrank the
economic production. In the 9th century after the plague, peace was slowly reestablished and
territories started to increase (Bryer 101 113).
From the other side, Constantinople was presented as a very wealthy capital which served as
propaganda for the foreigners that came to visit it, as well as for their own citizens. Constantinopole
was fully decorated with the foreign imported material such as silk or gold. The 10th century was
one of the most powerful in the Byzantine Empire history, and through that period, Constantinopole

Bulgaria. In the middle of the 10th century international trade with Muslims became very popular,
while in the 11th and 12th century economy of exchange took place. Before the ninth and tenth

Corporate Transparency And Efficient Resource Allocation
Introduction A successful organization depends on a solid strategic plan that includes how it
intends to handle transparency. In his article, (Champy, 2008) emphasizes several principles he
discovered while researching organizations for his book, the one that resonates with both my
personal and professional life is to be completely open and transparent. He further goes on to outline
the needs of a culture that embraces and values transparency. Indeed, many experts and
professionals agree that corporate transparency and efficient resource allocationare closely related.
The transparency, or essentially the clear picture, as it relates to resource allocation allows
organizations to regularly direct their assets in the right directions, making it easier for them to be
allocated in more productive and useful areas of the organization. The rationale for this strategy is
fairly simple; having a clear picture means additional assurance for the investing parties Francis et
al., (2009). Using the roadmaps created from the strategic plan, smart leaders easily figure out the
risks involved, and take necessary measures to eliminate or ameliorate them. Similarly,
organizational transparency on a whole is equally important for all the organization s stakeholders,
especially potential investors. This allows investors to easily weigh their options by evaluating any
critical information, and also the fact that the doings of the organizations are there to be seen by

Bohr s model, sometimes referred to as the planetary model, was able to provide explanation for
concepts that were previously indescribable. Working off Rutherford s previous work, Bohr was
able to successfully explain the spectrum of the hydrogen atom. While Rutherford s model focused
mainly on the nucleus, Bohr paid greater attention to electrons. The previous model of the atom
stated an electron was an orbiting planet. The problem in this flawed model was that the electron,
moving in a circular path, would be accelerating. Acceleration would create a change in magnetic
field, which would in turn carry energy away from the nucleus. The electron would eventually
slow and be captured by the nucleus. Bohr s model expanded upon Rutherford s and solved many
flaws of the previous model The Bohr Diagram, ). Bohr discovered that the atom consisted of a
small, positive nucleus, with negatively charged electrons traveling around it due to the
electrostatic force of coulomb s law. (Matthews 2010). Bohr stated that electrons travel only in
successively larger orbits. The outer orbits hold more electrons that the inner ones and it s the outer
orbits that determine the atom s chemical properties. Although Bohr s model eliminated many
problems of earlier renderings, it was not without its own flaws. Bohr s model violated the
Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle because it states that electrons have both a known orbit

Touch Reaction Times
Visual, Auditory and Touch Reaction Times
Nick Marshall, Jack Wilson, Angus Newman: 8F 4 /6/2018
Introduction:
The purpose of this investigation is to examine the differences in reaction times when using
different stimuli. This investigation relates to the nervous and brain systems in the human body.
When your senses pick up clues from the outside world it takes a small amount of time for you to
recognize the signal and respond. (Yuhas, 2018) Reaction time is the measure of speed from which
your brain recognises a stimulus, to the reaction, possibly movement. The process of reacting is
carried out by many neurons as well as numerous systems and circuits in the brain. (Yuhas, 2018).

Previous studies produced results that show that touch is the fastest, then auditory and finally
visual with the averagely slowest reaction time. This data suggests that visual stimuli cause the
fastest reaction, followed by auditory, and finally touch. The average in time for visual stimuli
was 0.170 seconds. Previous results have evidenced that visual stimulus is the slowest, with an
average time of 0.25 seconds. This experiment contradicts these results. The second fastest
reaction time was caused by an auditory stimulus. This produced an average reading of 0.176
seconds. This is similar to previous results. However, there is a small discrepancy of 0.006
seconds between the previous results and the results of this test. Finally, touch stimulus was the
slowest in this experiment. This contradicts previous results. In other tests the touch stimulus was
the fastest at 0.15 seconds, whereas in this experiment it was the slowest: 0.193 seconds. When
gravity pulled the rulers to the mass of the earth, it took time for the subject to recognise the
movement and to react to it. These results contradict previous experiments. The brain signals
were processed on average more slowly than in previous experiments. However, this experiment
could have been unfair and biased. When the auditory and touch tests were carried out, there was
most likely a small amount of time between the call or touch and the ruler being dropped. Also,
test subjects were changed throughout the experiment. This would have caused a discrepancy in
the results, because different subjects may have had different personal reaction times due to
several factors. Also, the age could have had an effect. In this experiment we used 13 year old test
subjects. It is unknown of the age of the previous experiments. This experiment could have been
improved by conducting more tests over a range of people to calculate a more global and

The Association Of The National Rifle Association
The National Rifle Association, also known as the NRA, is a nonprofit organization founded in
1871 with the original goal to promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis.
Additionally, there was a heavy focus of proper shooting sports among America s youth. It featured
multiple shooting programs and developed ranges for members to use and train. Through the use of
their magazine The American Rifleman members of the NRA were informed regarding firearm
bills. With the passage of the National Firearms Act of 1934, the NRA formed the Legislative

LAD was to encourage members to proceed with their own action to combat the infringement of
Second Amendment Rights by mailing legislative facts and analysis to members.
However, in 1975, the NRA recognized the need for political defense of the Second Amendment
and formed the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA). In addition to the protection of the Second
Amendment, education was a key initiative for the NRA by providing certification for law
enforcement officials and the general public. With regards to the general public, the NRA
continues to be the leader in firearms education. The NRA offers courses to instruct and train

In all Montreal no one possessed such knowledge; a dozen policemen and taxi drivers together

Identifying Two Unknown Species of Bacteria

The first day an unknown sample was assigned to each group of students. The first test applied
was a gram stain to test for gram positive or gram negative bacteria. The morphology of the two
types of bacteria was viewed under the microscope and recorded. Then the sample was put on
agar plates using the quadrant streak method for isolation. There were three agar plates; one was
incubated at room temperature, the second at 30 degrees Celsius, and the third at 37 degrees
Celsius. By placing each plate at a different temperature optimal growth temperature can be

The Urease test detects the presence of the enzyme urease. This medium contains urea and a pH
indicator, phenol red. A bacteriumcontaining urease will produce ammonia, which raises the pH
and changes the color of the medium. A positive test shows a color change from a reddish orange
to pink.
The fourth test used to identify gram negative bacteria is the Simmon s Citrate Utilization test.
This test measures a bacteria s ability to use citrate as its sole carbon source for metabolic
pathways. This solid medium contains Bromothymol Blue, which serves as a pH indicator. If the
bacteria can break down citrate it produces carbon dioxide that reacts with sodium and water, also
found in the medium, to produce sodium carbonate. Sodium carbonate elevates the pH causing a
color change from green to blue (a positive result).
The second bacterium was gram positive. There are three tests that are used to identify gram
positive bacteria. The three tests are hemolyses on blood agar, Mannitol fermentation on mannitol
salt agar, and the coagulase test using plasma containing serum in coagulase tubes.
The test on blood agar tests for a bacteria s ability to hemolyze red blood cells to obtain the iron
found in them. There are three types of hemolysis: gamma lysis, alpha lysis, and beta lysis.
Gamma lysis is the absence of erythrocyte lysis showing no color change in the blood agar. Alpha
lysis is a partial break down of hemoglobin and results

resources they have access to. When lobbying, Red Lights for Human Trafficking would also want
to lobby the Senate subcommittee, Committee on Immigration, Refugees and Border Security
because they have jurisdiction (1) immigration, citizenship and refugee laws;... (4) Oversight of
international migration, internally displaced persons, and refugee laws and policy . These are two
very important jurisdiction matters to Red Lights for Human Trafficking because one of the main
goals of the organization is to help human trafficking victims gain access to resources that are
needed to help for recovery and to attain the goal of gaining citizenship in the United States; this
committee handles legislation that involves resources that the organization is lobbying to get
victims access to and immigration laws which are important when helping victims gain citizenship

Analysis Of Henry Clay s The Great Compromiser
Title
Marissa Walker
Mr. Patrick Stoker
HISTORY 1301 140
November 20, 2015 Humans have faults. Politicians are humans therefore they have faults. No
matter how people feel about politicians most of them don t wake up in the morning wanting to
ruin the country. Many politicians take advantage of opportunities to make the country better in
the way they see fit. Henry Clay is known for the strides he made to improve the quality of life for
the American people. Henry Clay put forth every effort to become the president of the United States
. Clay never became president but he had great influence in government matters. His skill of
effectively charming people and finding balance in negotiations earned him the nickname, The
Great Compromiser (Clay, 2015). Henry Clay was born and raised in Virginia. Henry s family
was part of the middle class. Clay was studied law under the guidance of American revolutionist,
George Wythe. He was then admitted to the Virginia bar and moved to Kentucky to practice as a
real estate lawyer settling land claims (Bowen, 2014). While in Kentucky he married into a
wealthy family who was popular among the social circles of Kentucky. After making a name for
himself in Kentucky as a well established lawyer he was elected to be part of the Kentucky
legislature in 1803. He served as part of the Kentucky House of Representatives until 1806. After
serving as a representative for the state of Kentucky, Clay was elected to fill a vacant seat in

The Tyranny Of The Normal By Leslie Fiedler
The author, Leslie Fiedler writes about the differences in what it means to be normal. She
discusses this in a professional manner that opens eyes to what we have disguised and even
been ashamed of. The Tyranny of the Normal, we learn much about what we perceive as
abnormal and what society seems to portray normal as. We discover what we believe is normal
and also what has changed through out the history of this subject. Our minds are opened and
exposed to the world of abnormalities and how we see them. In the beginning of this article we
are given background history; which provides reason to believe she is reliable. We learn that
through her discovery of research for her book, Freaks: Myths and Images of the Secret self, she
focused on normal. Through this research she stumbled upon a very touchy subject, the care of
imperiled newborns. This was a very touchy subject as we learn in the altercation with a fellow
celebrant at his party. He stated his opinion saying that more abnormal babies are dying in
hospitals now than how they used to. He went on to state that this was not good. His friend
became enraged and left. He brings a larger realization to this subject in the chapters that follow.
Leslie goes on to state that what we do is accepted now in our scientific age. We disguise what we
do by calling it the removal of life supports form nonviable terata. Due to medical advances in
modern days we can give these babies a chance at life. We can also now detect and

Irene Chrysafi Recommendation
It is with my highest honor that I write this letter of recommendation for Irene Chrysafi. I have
had the pleasure of working along side Irene for the past 2 years. If I were to choose one word to
describe her, it would be professional. Irene continues to awe those around her with her strong
work ethic and ability to always maintain a professional demeanor regardless of her environment.
From observing her classes, I have seen what a fluid lesson looks like and how a teacher s energy,
coupled with the right engagement practices, can lead an entire class in achieving all set learning
targets. Students received Irene openly and showed her a tremendous amount of respect, often
echoing comments such as: Ms. Chrysafi is so knowledgeable, Ms. Chrysafi

Electronic Product Code Upc And Optical Character...
With the passage of time and extreme advancement in the technology the field of automatic
identification has come up with great potential. There are different methods to do this. The most
commonly used methods are Universal Product Code UPC and Optical Character Recognition
OCR. OCR has limited the use of UPC but Optical Character Recognition has also different
deficiencies which ultimately lead towards another technique called as Radio Frequency
Identification also termed as RFID. RFID is the most modern technique. RFID tags are readily
available in the market. As the name RF suggests that RFID reader uses radio frequency for the
identification of objects.
Chapter 2 of the book describes the general introduction of Radio Frequency ... Show more content

Simple Circuitry.
The use of a microphone and speaker coil was the first example of using backscatter radio link to
carry substantial amount of information. This was done in 1948. The passive back scatter
radio technique was used when the radar or reader is very far away from the object to be
identified. But if the object to be identified is very close to the reader i.e. in the range of few
centimeters then there is no need for passive back scatter technique. In this case we used a
technique in which the receiver and the transmitter are inductively coupled. Such systems can
operate at very low frequencies i.e. few kilohertz to few megahertz. These are also called as low
range transmitters and receivers because they operate in a very low range of centimeters.
Talking about the manufacturing of such cheap transponders these can be made by using a
sensitive magnetic strip. When the reader comes close to the strip it vibrates and takes the
necessary information. They were developed in 1960 s wildly used in retail stores and etc. Now
if we want more ID space we have to slightly change the circuitry of the transponder. Such
circuitry can be composed with the help of a capacitor and the inductor which operates at a
resonant frequency. Such a system will provide much larger ID space than the previous ones.
Then inventors thought of a more sophisticated tag in which radio frequency can also be used as a
power source for the tag. Such a tag can be made by

My First Part Of The Combo
In the beginning of the year, from week one to week five, we began learning some of the
warmups and getting our body used to dance. I have never taken a dance class before so when I
first entered the classroom, I was a little intimidated. One of the first things we learned was a warm
up combination. The first part of the combo was where we had our right footgo forward, back to the
other foot, side, back to the other foot, back behind us, and then back to the original position
while clapping at the end. Then, we would repeat this process on the other side while trying to
make your body not so stiff but free flowing. Next, we repeated these two steps fastly and then
turn after your foot would return with the other foot. After that, we ran forward, lifting our arms
and right leg up neighing , and then repeated on the other side. We repeated both sides twice.
Next, we went to our right side lifting our right leg up and down on the floor while clapping
moving sideways. After a few counts, we woulds lift our arms diagonally to the floor, and fall
back to the left side. We would repeat this process on the other side as well. Additionally, we
would do the octagon with our feet going back and forward. Once that was done, we would run to
the right side and then run back to do the other side again. Lastly, we did the octagon danceagain,
running, and instead of turning back, we would go into the retire position and turn slightly to the
front of the room. Last, we would repeat on the

Tezcatlipoca Obsidian Mirror Analysis
Tezcatlipoca s mottled grey stone features irregular blotches over the figures surface, both specks
of black and color dance throughout the surface. The surface seems polished and refined. The
scale of the object is 7.3 in. x 6.4 in. x 3.5 in., making it slightly smaller than life size.
The face of a young man can be seen in this sculpture. The style employed by the artist is described
as simplistic naturalism. The face is near natural without abstracting any details. This style conveys
essential aspects in order to portray a human like face. Carved into the head are eyes, a nose, and a
mouth bearing its teeth. Decorating the top of the head are delicate engravings that could represent
the god s headdress. Within the headdress there are images ... Show more content on

The Aztec state could have control of craft production, use, and distribution of such goods. The
precious materials used by the craftsmen were not always local to the Valley of Mexico. The
acquisition of such materials also occurred via the extensive trade networks and the economic
control of the Aztec over foreign territories.
The demand on craftsmen resulted in them paying their personal tribute through the products of
their labor. Both the crafts and the fine materials could have acted as tribute through their own
merit. These craft products were produced almost entirely for the nobility and government. The
governing body had control over the arts market in terms of professional activity of the craftsmen,
exchange, and distribution.
In many ways, masks represented the dominance over a groups goods and services. Masks were
involved in the tribute system to the powerful military Aztec state. Therefore, they had a deep
connection to the socio economic system of tribute demand. Masks worked as a mechanism to
symbolize an elite groups supremacy and elite s intent and right thereof to collect tribute from a

Human Sacrifice vs. Ritual Murder in The Lottery, by...
Imagine this; it is 9am, the sun is out and even though the children are playing , but before the day
is done, someone will find themselves the winner of the lottery. However, it is not the lottery that
most are familiar with. In 1988 author Judy Oppenheimer conducted an interview with author
Shirley Jackson, the author of The Lottery. In this interview Shirley explained why she wrote the
short storyin the following excerpt ; I hoped, by setting a particularly brutal ancient rite in the
present and in my own village to shock the story s readers with a graphic dramatization of the
pointless violence and general inhumanity in their own lives (Oppenheimer 1988 ). In order to

7 ). At this point, the readers of the story may be thinking maybe someone is going to win a trip or
something of that matter or perhaps even enough money to pay for all the souvenirs that they
would be sending to their families and friend while on their summer vacation. It is possible, that the
thought of someone winning a brand new shiny car could have crossed the mind of some other
reader of the short story. Was this the case? Author Shirley Jacksonmakes a daunting effort to give
the impression of everything in this small town being normal. She writes about some of the
children of the story. Her efforts to depict the children doing what children do best, playing,
added a simple twist to the story, and that same twist would soon shock the readers once they
realize the purpose of the stones the young boys were playing with were actually going to be used
to stone someone to death, but not just yet. One of the main characters of the story, Tessie
Hutchinson, made her way to the lottery a little bit late, flustered and out of breath. She even
admits to forgetting what day it was. However, despite all odds, she still made it on time
(SparkNotes Editors ). At this point the author makes a humungous step in the story that is intended
to confuse the reader. Most readers would probably think , this must really be an important event ;
Tessie must have been running or at least walking very fast, trying to make it to this

He pulled Germany out of the League of Nations in 1933, claiming its disarmament clauses were
not fair. He felt that they were directly applied to Germany, and only them. In March 1935 Hitler
announced his army would be raised to 550,000 men and that he was establishing an Air Force.
On 1 September 1939, Hitler would alter the world s history forever by invading Poland. After
the invasion, Britain and France declared war on Germany. This was the beginning of World War
II. By June 1940, the German Army conquered the Netherlands, Belgium, and on 22 June 1940
France surrendered. The swift and unexpected defeat of France resulted in an enflux in Hitler s
popularity and a strong sense of war fever.
Germany s war in the East was based on Hitler s view that Jews were the reason that Germany
lost World War I. His main focus was was on Eastern Europe, aiming to conquer Poland, the
Soviet Union and exterminate the Jewish residents and Slavs in the process. In 1941 Hitler
decided to destroy the Polish nation, and within ten years the section of Poland under Nazi
occupation would be cleared of native Polish residents and resettled by German residents. About 4
million Poles would remain as slaves as a part of a labour force of 14 million the Nazis intend to
create using natives of countries they conqured through the war. Somewhere around the failed
offensive against the Soviet Union in Moscow in December 1941,

Disadvantages Of Constantine Grocery
As Constantine Grocery is growing from a small family business to a grocery store chain, the
need for raising funds has increased as a result of the expansion of the business. A preliminary
study has been conducted and the funds needed are believed to be around 135 million dollars.
Our mission is to explore the owner s options to obtain that amount of money and to recommend
the best option through demonstrating the advantages and disadvantages of each choice. 1
Issuing corporate bonds: These are considered one of the tools used by companies to raise
finance. Bonds are also considered as debt and under there terms the borrower has to pay fixed
interest, which is called coupon rate, on the loan and repay the principal upon maturity of the debt
(Choudhry, 2004). Unlike selling shares, bonds are less risky to investors, allow business to buy
back their bonds if they wanted to, and give the business the opportunity to deduct the interest from
the business s taxes (The Legal Environment and Foundations for Business Law, 2012). The
downside of issuing corporates bonds is the fact that they are loans and they could lead the business
to bankruptcy if the business is highly leveraged. In addition to that, business has to follow the
market in deciding the interest rates which increase their financial burden. Finally, while the
company still retain their ownership after issuing bonds, failing to pay interests enables the
investors to control the business through bankruptcy and they

Cultural Diversity and the Impossibility of a True Melting Pot The core standards of America are founded, in principle, on the basis of its diversity and equality among citizens. Begin ning with its Declaration of Independence, the United States distinguished itself from other modern nation states by establishing a country of men who were different but equal. Yet, despite the unifying images America projects within and beyond its borders , the idea behind E Pluribus Unum does not resound as one might assume it would. E Pluribus Unum was originally intended to be both a representation of the union of the thirteen colonies and an expression of the United States as a country formed by immigrants of many different backgrounds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... E Pluribus Unum may show the United States to be a country formed of many different cultures, and it may suggest the equality of all people, but even today many people, especially those of non European ancestry, are often looked upon as secondary or non citizens and are placed in a socially subservient position. Since September 11, 2001, various communities within the United States seemed to be uniting for a time, despite the differences that typically undermine the original intentions behind E Pluribus Unum. Especially in places such as New York City, which is known world wide as a mecca of diversity within its tightly confined parameters, people have been embracing each other as people rather than as members of cultures other than their own. But there has been a backlash as well, an increase in violent types of discrimination and prejudice in and near communities of Americans whose descent is Middle Eastern. Many non Middle Eastern Americans blame all people who appear Middle Eastern as culpable for what happened on September 11. So the attention paid to culture, now, is based on the differences between Middle Eastern cultures and non Middle Eastern cultures in America. I wanted to explore how American citizens choose, especially after the events of September 11, to deal with cultures found within the United States that differ from their own. I chose to interview two people with strong, contrasting convictions about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While there are benefits in preservatives in order to preserve shelf life, these preservatives could also negatively impact your vital organs causing decline in their functions. Are preservatives and additives like this helping or hindering? Even foods which most would consider to be preservative free and healthy often contains those additives. Take salad as an example, most Americans consider it a healthy lunch. But it does not cross the average American s mind that something supposedly healthy such as salad would bring issues due to the preservatives that were once present in them. Anastasia Toufexis, Time Magazine author, informs us that sulfites were put in salads and vegetables to keep them from wilting and discoloring. However, in the 1980s, the FDA took control and limited the intake of sulfites by mandating that foods containing more than 10 parts per million of sulfites must list this information on the food label. (Robin) The FDA has yet to ban them, they simply require food companies to list them on the label. Currently, most Americans also see the protein foods or meal replacement shakes they eat after working out or to lose weight as healthy; however, most of these are also full of preservatives. • 6. The Wife s Lament Essay The Wife s Lament Over the years, there have been many interpretations of who the speaker of The Wife s Lament could be. These range from very interesting ideas to ones that seem a little rough around the edges. It is obvious that no sure answer can be found due to the fact that whoever wrote this poem is dead and that the answer will always be in speculation even if it is correct. Hopefully, at the end of this quest I will be slightly more enlightened as to who the true speaker may really be. There are some things that we do know about this poem. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have the right to say what miseries I have endured since I grew up, new or old never greater than now. Even though this poem is relatively short, the vivid expression of grief is somewhat awe inspiring. The first interpretation of who the speaker is in The Wife s Lament is very shaky and not well accepted among scholars and even the average reader. This interpretation is that the speaker may be a male and not a female as we all believe. It was very common in Anglo Saxon times for the lord of a group of people to be more to them than a ruler. Very often he would become a close friend to his people and they loved him like family. The relationship between lord and man was more than just a business arrangement and although they were working for the lord, he was respected much like a father figure would be. The problem with this interpretation is that the grammatical gender is feminine. This is the reason why everyone assumes that the speaker is a female. Supporters of this reading of The Wife s Lament believe that somewhere along the line of translating the poem the translator made a mistake and changed the gender of the speaker. As I have already said, this interpretation is very rough around the edges and rather hard to believe. I believe that if the speaker were male then there would be no real reason for his being exiled in this fashion. It was not a custom for communities to allow foreigners in thus falsifying ... All of the characters were forced from their home sometime during this book. Josef, a German Jew during WW2 had to leave his home due to the violence brought by the Nazis. Josef didn t want to leave. One of Rachel Landau s children would go free, one of her children would go into the camps (291). The Germans find Josef, his mother, and Ruthie his sister and are asked for their papers which have a big stamped J on it for Jew. There is an excess number of elements that are introduced and just to name a few it all starts with the occurrence of the crime, then follows the arrest, proceeded by an arraignment, bail hearing and any more steps before finally reaching the final verdict that lands one with guilt or innocence (Neubrauer, Fadella 2013). Based on the laws in place by the United States and the Constitution one must be able to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. If there is doubt at all in the jurors minds, they cannot convict the individual of being guilty and lately this has created a lot of controversy in the United States with many cases being tried. The purpose of this lab experiment is to find the mass of an unknown object. The way this experiment will be accomplished is through a use of the line regression method. This lab will begin with eight objects whose massis known to see if there is a perfect fit relation between the mass of the objects to the period that is being tested. This lab consists of the use of five materials that included a standard masses, a stopwatch, tape, a C clamp, and an internal balance. Therefore the mass of the unknown object could be predicted based on the analysis of data through the use of linear regression form. This is because the scared plots of the second graph created best resemble a straight line, meaning that the unknown mass is predictable and can be placed on the graph. An R2 value of one or close to one means the relation is fit and present. The mass of the unknown object was determined through the use of the linear regression equation of the second graph. The period of this unknown mass was squared and then inserted this number into the period squared equation. The mass was determined to be between about 330g. Like in any other experiment there is room for error, this room for error is present since the results are based of numbers that aren t completely exact. The graph of period squared vs mass proved to only be trusted after 300g, the graph for period vs mass had the same results. A questionable scatter point that did arise was on the graph for period squared vs mass. In this graph a plot was placed at .011 seconds which compared to the others is quite different. This could be the error in the experiment, outside factors such as the force that was applied to the object could have dramatically changed the results. Although China has reformed over the years, but the history remains within the society. However, many of these improvements would have similarities closely linking back to the history of how Chinese fortune telling was created. Back in 1600 BCE during the Shang Dynasty, fortune telling had used the discovery of oracle bones to uncover one s path. Later different techniques evolved over time such as the I Ching method in the Zhou Dynasty from 1046 BCE, as well as many others throughout the dynasties that now incorporate into present day methods. Slowly, I Ching had gained recognition and became extremely popular in 1046 BCE. However, due to the popularity of the new fortune telling method, eventually, this led to the neglection of oracle bones as it was not used as frequently as it was during the Shang Dynasty. Although oracle bones had been replaced by I Ching, oracle bones were still the beginning of the existent of fortune telling, which has an importance of value within the history of creating a further development of changes in Chinese fortune telling. It affected both cities and countryside, as well as the routes of trading and communication, and significantly shrank the economic production. In the 9th century after the plague, peace was slowly reestablished and territories started to increase (Bryer 101 113). • 25. Corporate Transparency And Efficient Resource Allocation Introduction A successful organization depends on a solid strategic plan that includes how it intends to handle transparency. In his article, (Champy, 2008) emphasizes several principles he discovered while researching organizations for his book, the one that resonates with both my personal and professional life is to be completely open and transparent. He further goes on to outline the needs of a culture that embraces and values transparency. Indeed, many experts and professionals agree that corporate transparency and efficient resource allocationare closely related. The transparency, or essentially the clear picture, as it relates to resource allocation allows organizations to regularly direct their assets in the right directions, making it easier for them to be allocated in more productive and useful areas of the organization. The rationale for this strategy is fairly simple; having a clear picture means additional assurance for the investing parties Francis et al., (2009). Using the roadmaps created from the strategic plan, smart leaders easily figure out the risks involved, and take necessary measures to eliminate or ameliorate them. Similarly, organizational transparency on a whole is equally important for all the organization s stakeholders, especially potential investors. This allows investors to easily weigh their options by evaluating any critical information, and also the fact that the doings of the organizations are there to be seen by everyone ... Working off Rutherford s previous work, Bohr was able to successfully explain the spectrum of the hydrogen atom. While Rutherford s model focused mainly on the nucleus, Bohr paid greater attention to electrons. The previous model of the atom stated an electron was an orbiting planet. The problem in this flawed model was that the electron, moving in a circular path, would be accelerating. Acceleration would create a change in magnetic field, which would in turn carry energy away from the nucleus. The electron would eventually slow and be captured by the nucleus. Bohr s model expanded upon Rutherford s and solved many flaws of the previous model The Bohr Diagram, ). Bohr discovered that the atom consisted of a small, positive nucleus, with negatively charged electrons traveling around it due to the electrostatic force of coulomb s law. (Matthews 2010). Bohr stated that electrons travel only in successively larger orbits. The outer orbits hold more electrons that the inner ones and it s the outer orbits that determine the atom s chemical properties. Although Bohr s model eliminated many problems of earlier renderings, it was not without its own flaws. This investigation relates to the nervous and brain systems in the human body. When your senses pick up clues from the outside world it takes a small amount of time for you to recognize the signal and respond. (Yuhas, 2018) Reaction time is the measure of speed from which your brain recognises a stimulus, to the reaction, possibly movement. Previous studies produced results that show that touch is the fastest, then auditory and finally visual with the averagely slowest reaction time. This data suggests that visual stimuli cause the fastest reaction, followed by auditory, and finally touch. The average in time for visual stimuli was 0.170 seconds. Previous results have evidenced that visual stimulus is the slowest, with an average time of 0.25 seconds. This experiment contradicts these results. The second fastest reaction time was caused by an auditory stimulus. This produced an average reading of 0.176 seconds. This is similar to previous results. However, there is a small discrepancy of 0.006 seconds between the previous results and the results of this test. Finally, touch stimulus was the slowest in this experiment. This contradicts previous results. In other tests the touch stimulus was the fastest at 0.15 seconds, whereas in this experiment it was the slowest: 0.193 seconds. When gravity pulled the rulers to the mass of the earth, it took time for the subject to recognise the movement and to react to it. These results contradict previous experiments. The brain signals were processed on average more slowly than in previous experiments. However, this experiment could have been unfair and biased. When the auditory and touch tests were carried out, there was most likely a small amount of time between the call or touch and the ruler being dropped. Also, test subjects were changed throughout the experiment. This would have caused a discrepancy in the results, because different subjects may have had different personal reaction times due to several factors. Also, the age could have had an effect. The fourth test used to identify gram negative bacteria is the Simmon s Citrate Utilization test. This test measures a bacteria s ability to use citrate as its sole carbon source for metabolic pathways. This solid medium contains Bromothymol Blue, which serves as a pH indicator. If the bacteria can break down citrate it produces carbon dioxide that reacts with sodium and water, also found in the medium, to produce sodium carbonate. Sodium carbonate elevates the pH causing a color change from green to blue (a positive result). The second bacterium was gram positive. Through this research she stumbled upon a very touchy subject, the care of imperiled newborns. This was a very touchy subject as we learn in the altercation with a fellow celebrant at his party. He stated his opinion saying that more abnormal babies are dying in hospitals now than how they used to. He went on to state that this was not good. His friend became enraged and left. He brings a larger realization to this subject in the chapters that follow. Leslie goes on to state that what we do is accepted now in our scientific age. We disguise what we do by calling it the removal of life supports form nonviable terata. Due to medical advances in modern days we can give these babies a chance at life. We can also now detect and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Irene Chrysafi Recommendation It is with my highest honor that I write this letter of recommendation for Irene Chrysafi. I have had the pleasure of working along side Irene for the past 2 years. If I were to choose one word to describe her, it would be professional. Irene continues to awe those around her with her strong work ethic and ability to always maintain a professional demeanor regardless of her environment. From observing her classes, I have seen what a fluid lesson looks like and how a teacher s energy, coupled with the right engagement practices, can lead an entire class in achieving all set learning targets. Students received Irene openly and showed her a tremendous amount of respect, often echoing comments such as: Ms. Chrysafi is so knowledgeable, Ms. Chrysafi ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Electronic Product Code Upc And Optical Character... With the passage of time and extreme advancement in the technology the field of automatic identification has come up with great potential. There are different methods to do this. The most commonly used methods are Universal Product Code UPC and Optical Character Recognition OCR. OCR has limited the use of UPC but Optical Character Recognition has also different deficiencies which ultimately lead towards another technique called as Radio Frequency Identification also termed as RFID. RFID is the most modern technique. RFID tags are readily available in the market. As the name RF suggests that RFID reader uses radio frequency for the identification of objects. Chapter 2 of the book describes the general introduction of Radio Frequency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No Battery. Simple Circuitry. The use of a microphone and speaker coil was the first example of using backscatter radio link to carry substantial amount of information. This was done in 1948. The passive back scatter radio technique was used when the radar or reader is very far away from the object to be identified. But if the object to be identified is very close to the reader i.e. in the range of few centimeters then there is no need for passive back scatter technique. In this case we used a technique in which the receiver and the transmitter are inductively coupled. Such systems can operate at very low frequencies i.e. few kilohertz to few megahertz. These are also called as low range transmitters and receivers because they operate in a very low range of centimeters. Talking about the manufacturing of such cheap transponders these can be made by using a sensitive magnetic strip. When the reader comes close to the strip it vibrates and takes the necessary information. They were developed in 1960 s wildly used in retail stores and etc. Now if we want more ID space we have to slightly change the circuitry of the transponder. Such circuitry can be composed with the help of a capacitor and the inductor which operates at a resonant frequency. Such a system will provide much larger ID space than the previous ones. Then inventors thought of a more sophisticated tag in which radio frequency can also be used as a power source for the tag. Such a tag can be made by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. My First Part Of The Combo In the beginning of the year, from week one to week five, we began learning some of the warmups and getting our body used to dance. I have never taken a dance class before so when I first entered the classroom, I was a little intimidated. One of the first things we learned was a warm up combination. The first part of the combo was where we had our right footgo forward, back to the other foot, side, back to the other foot, back behind us, and then back to the original position while clapping at the end. Then, we would repeat this process on the other side while trying to make your body not so stiff but free flowing. Next, we repeated these two steps fastly and then turn after your foot would return with the other foot. After that, we ran forward, lifting our arms and right leg up neighing , and then repeated on the other side. We repeated both sides twice. Next, we went to our right side lifting our right leg up and down on the floor while clapping moving sideways. After a few counts, we woulds lift our arms diagonally to the floor, and fall back to the left side. We would repeat this process on the other side as well. Additionally, we would do the octagon with our feet going back and forward. Once that was done, we would run to the right side and then run back to do the other side again. Lastly, we did the octagon danceagain, running, and instead of turning back, we would go into the retire position and turn slightly to the front of the room. Last, we would repeat on the ... The surface seems polished and refined. The scale of the object is 7.3 in. x 6.4 in. x 3.5 in., making it slightly smaller than life size. The face of a young man can be seen in this sculpture. The style employed by the artist is described as simplistic naturalism. The face is near natural without abstracting any details. This style conveys essential aspects in order to portray a human like face. Carved into the head are eyes, a nose, and a mouth bearing its teeth. Decorating the top of the head are delicate engravings that could represent the god s headdress. Within the headdress there are images ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Aztec state could have control of craft production, use, and distribution of such goods. The precious materials used by the craftsmen were not always local to the Valley of Mexico. The acquisition of such materials also occurred via the extensive trade networks and the economic control of the Aztec over foreign territories. The demand on craftsmen resulted in them paying their personal tribute through the products of their labor. Both the crafts and the fine materials could have acted as tribute through their own merit. These craft products were produced almost entirely for the nobility and government. The governing body had control over the arts market in terms of professional activity of the craftsmen, exchange, and distribution. In many ways, masks represented the dominance over a groups goods and services. Masks were involved in the tribute system to the powerful military Aztec state. Therefore, they had a deep connection to the socio economic system of tribute demand. • 45. Human Sacrifice vs. Ritual Murder in The Lottery, by... Imagine this; it is 9am, the sun is out and even though the children are playing , but before the day is done, someone will find themselves the winner of the lottery. However, it is not the lottery that most are familiar with. In 1988 author Judy Oppenheimer conducted an interview with author Shirley Jackson, the author of The Lottery. In this interview Shirley explained why she wrote the short storyin the following excerpt ; I hoped, by setting a particularly brutal ancient rite in the present and in my own village to shock the story s readers with a graphic dramatization of the pointless violence and general inhumanity in their own lives (Oppenheimer 1988 ). In order to identify the key elements of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 7 ). At this point, the readers of the story may be thinking maybe someone is going to win a trip or something of that matter or perhaps even enough money to pay for all the souvenirs that they would be sending to their families and friend while on their summer vacation. It is possible, that the thought of someone winning a brand new shiny car could have crossed the mind of some other reader of the short story. Was this the case? Author Shirley Jacksonmakes a daunting effort to give the impression of everything in this small town being normal. She writes about some of the children of the story. Her efforts to depict the children doing what children do best, playing, added a simple twist to the story, and that same twist would soon shock the readers once they realize the purpose of the stones the young boys were playing with were actually going to be used to stone someone to death, but not just yet. One of the main characters of the story, Tessie Hutchinson, made her way to the lottery a little bit late, flustered and out of breath. She even admits to forgetting what day it was. However, despite all odds, she still made it on time (SparkNotes Editors ). At this point the author makes a humungous step in the story that is intended to confuse the reader. Most readers would probably think , this must really be an important event ; Tessie must have been running or at least walking very fast, trying to make it to this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Disadvantages Of Constantine Grocery As Constantine Grocery is growing from a small family business to a grocery store chain, the need for raising funds has increased as a result of the expansion of the business. A preliminary study has been conducted and the funds needed are believed to be around 135 million dollars. Our mission is to explore the owner s options to obtain that amount of money and to recommend the best option through demonstrating the advantages and disadvantages of each choice. 1 Issuing corporate bonds: These are considered one of the tools used by companies to raise finance. Bonds are also considered as debt and under there terms the borrower has to pay fixed interest, which is called coupon rate, on the loan and repay the principal upon maturity of the debt (Choudhry, 2004). Unlike selling shares, bonds are less risky to investors, allow business to buy back their bonds if they wanted to, and give the business the opportunity to deduct the interest from the business s taxes (The Legal Environment and Foundations for Business Law, 2012). The downside of issuing corporates bonds is the fact that they are loans and they could lead the business to bankruptcy if the business is highly leveraged. In addition to that, business has to follow the market in deciding the interest rates which increase their financial burden. Finally, while the company still retain their ownership after issuing bonds, failing to pay interests enables the investors to control the business through bankruptcy and they ...
