Rosalind Franklin Stereotypes
Throughout the ages, women have been have been subject to gender stereotypes, such as women
should be at home, taking care of children and hearth, and should not be out conducting business,
studying science, etc. If they were making progress outside the home, their work was often not
credited properly, such in the case of Rosalind Franklin, whose photograph 51 evolved the fields of
science, medicine and more. Rosalind Franklin was born in London, England in 1920 to a wealthy
Jewish family. Though, her family valued education and public service, some sources say that her
father did not believe in university education for women. Nevertheless, Franklin enrolled at Newnham
Women s College at Cambridge University to study chemistry and physics. Franklin was part of a
graduate fellowship, but she quit after one year, choosing to work at the British Coal Utilization
Research Association (CURA). Her work there, which included studies of carbon and graphite
microstructures, served as the basis for her Ph.D. thesis in physical chemistry at Cambridge in 1945.
In 1947, she decided to move to Paris, where she worked in the Laboratoire Central des Services
Chimiques de L Etat, learning X ray diffraction techniques from Jacques Mering, who was the head of
the lab and is best remembered for his influence on Franklin. Just a few years later, in 1951, Franklin
returned to England to work in John Randall s laboratory at King s College, London on a DNA project
that had been untouched for

Lenin s Contribution to Marxism up to 1905 and the Consequences
Karl Marx was a German philosopher who wrote the Communist Manifesto, which encouraged
workers to unite and seize power by revolution. His views became known as Marxism and influenced
the thinking of socialists throughout Europe in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Marx believed that history was evolving in a series of stages towards a perfect state Communism.
These stages started with Feudalism with the aristocrats controlling politics. Next would come
Capitalism with the bourgeoisie in control of politics. Finally the perfect state would arrive

The idea of the paper was to establish it as the leading underground revolutionary paper that would
push forward the revolutionary movement.
In 1902 he published a pamphlet called What is to be done? This pamphlet contained his radical ideas
towards the nature of a revolutionary party. In this pamphlet, there were three main points that Lenin
made in relation to the role of a revolutionary party.
An organisation of revolutionaries must contain primarily and chiefly people whose occupation is
revolutionary activity… This organisation must necessarily be not very broad, and as secret as
possible.
This idea was stating that he wanted the party to consist of activists. He wanted people to go out and
do something for the party rather than sit around and do nothing to help the cause of the party. This
idea was later to contribute towards the split of the RSDWP.
Lenin also stated;
The one serious organisational principle for workers in our movement must be the strictest secrecy,
strictest choice of members, training of professional revolutionaries.
Lenin wanted the party to be professional and didn t want the country to know that there was a
revolutionary party being constructed that was to revolt against the current government.
The third major point that Lenin made in his pamphlet was;
We must break completely with the tradition of a purely workers or

What I Know Now From My Studies And Research Of Eq
By comparing what I know now from my studies and research of EQ, I acknowledge several areas of
opportunity for EQ improvement including:
Self Awareness: I was not as self aware as I could have been. I didn t recognize or acknowledge my
emotions and how they may have impacted my thoughts and actions. Several factors related to both
work and home contributed to my diminished self confidence. I was also self absorbed and showed
low self esteem by taking on total blame for the outcome. It may be true that I might have been more
influential with my boss if I had been more self assured. I thought at the time I presented my case with
authority, but perhaps my thoughts and body language didn t portray that confidence. Regardless, I
know that my role in these situations is to make recommendations; his role is to make the final
decision. I do believe, however, that in general I will have more influence the more confident I am.
Following the end of the 681 Traverse City class, I watched Amy Cuddy s Ted Talk on presence . She
states that if you project self assurance, even if you re not feeling it, you will be more credible and
influential with others. The old saying, fake it until you make it is true. They will buy your act.
Self assessment: I also didn t make an accurate self assessment of my limits. I was burned out at work
and home, and didn t take needed time away to refresh and refill my reservoir. Ironically, I often
recognize when our managers and staff are exhibiting

Hope In The Movie Precious
2. Throughout watching the movie Precious, I picked up on an overall theme of hope. Precious is a 16,
obese black girl who has been sexually and physically abused by both of her parents. When times get
tough and she is being abused, Precious day dreams about her future and where she wishes she could
be in life. When is seems like life could not get any worse, Precious finds a way to keep her head up!
A question I have regarding this film, is where does Precious get her willingness and drive to find a
better life? She has no one to look up too. Her parents are abusive, broke, and jobless. This is not he
life Precious daydreams of. As viewers, we do not know of anyone else in the movie that would
provide Precious with hope. With the movie taking

Social Control And Bond Theory
Social control/bond theory was developed by Travis Hirschi in1969. The social control approach is
one of the three major sociological perspectives in understanding crime in our contemporary
criminology. The theory holds that individuals will break the law as a result of the breakdown of the
social bonds (Akers Sellers, 2004, p. 16). Control theorists believe that an individual conformity to
societal social values and rules produced by socialization and maintained through social ties to the
people and institutions. The social bond may include family attachment, an individual commitment to
social norms or institutions like school, employment, churches and mosques. The key elements of the
social bonds theory are an attachment to other individuals in the society and the desire to remain
committed to following rules. In addition, an individual involvement in typical social behaviours as
well as one s belief or the value systems a person ascribes. According to the theory, crime and
delinquency will result when a person bond to society is weak or lose (Demuth Brown, 2004, p.65).
Moreover, as social bonds increase in strength, individual costs of crime increases as well and this
ultimately act as a barrier for committing a crime.
The real intellectual roots of social bond theory date back several centuries. However, much interest
among crime researchers began during the middle of the 20th century with significant work of Travis
Hirschi. After that,

Use Of Foreshadowing In William Goldman s The Princess Bride
William Goldman the author of The Princess Bride uses the foreshadowing technique anticipation
both within the story and in his asides to create an edge of your seat reading experience. The concept
of foreshadowing can be seen in three areas of the book love, pain and the interjections of Goldman.
In the first chapter of the book when Buttercup is seventeen, she and Wesley declare their love to one
another followed by the immediate departure of Wesley with these parting words I ll send for you
soon. Believe me (64). Buttercup eagerly awaits the return of Wesley and is devastated when she hears
of his death after a year of waiting. When she finally meets Wesley again she is twenty one. Later on

One of my theories, he said somewhat later, is that pain involves anticipation (259). Count Rugen says
this to Wesley in the Zoo of Death before leaving Wesley with the machine that had just made the wild
dog scream. Even the way the Count says it to Wesley by pausing creates anticipation. Wesley resides
on the fifth floor of the Zoo of Death, the one Humperdink left the empty in hopes of someday finding
something worthy, something as dangerous and powerful as he was(...)so he kept the great cage of the
fifth level always in readiness (75). Prince Humperdink anticipated a monster worthy of filling the
fifth level. Westley occupies the fifth level for about three months enduring all methods of torture
from Count Rugen. Wesley knows almost as soon as he arrives in the Zoo of Death that he will die
there, and he does at the hands of Prince

Symbolic Interactionism In The Movie Wetback
The next film that we watched in class was the film Wetback. The term wetback refers to a person
who enters the United States illegally. Symbolic interactionism falls under this category pretty well
actually. Symbolic interactionism is a theoretical perspective in which society is viewed as composed
of symbols that people use to establish meaning, develop their views of the world, and communicate
with one another. Usually people from the United states use this term for people coming across the
border from Mexico or south America. A wetback is a symbol they put on people from Mexico or
south America because they feel that they are inferior to us and have no right coming to the united
states. Little do these people know that a lot of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

themselves and also their families. They are barely making ends meet in their home country. Some
people make the little money that they do earn and Mexican bandits or gangs mug them and steal it.
The crime is terrible in the countries these people are coming from. Some of the countries are:
Mexico, El Salvador, and Honduras. There are many gangs that rape, mug, steal, and even kill people.
These people that are trying to migrate to America know what they want in life and they all want to
better themselves and make their children s lives easier when they grow up and have kids, they do not
want their kids to have to deal with the violence, and the poverty that they are dealing with. Some of
these people have to keep their children home from school because they need them to work to help
support the family. No child should have to work at a very young age, they should be getting an
education so they can have a better life. That is what these parents are trying to do they are trying to

Richard Whittington s Theory And Complications Of...
Richard Whittington introduced four theories of strategy to explain how people behave and think in
real business world and what the projected implications of their various behaviors on strategic
management are. The four theories proposed by Whittington are: classical, evolutionary, processual
and systemic theories. Classical approach to strategy is a reductionist and scientific one. Classicists
are influenced by Taylorism which entails rational thinking and breaking problems and situations into
their components to solve them while ignoring that the whole is greater than the sum of its
components. Obviously, this approach concerns controllable aspects of situations and ignores areas of
uncertainty in an endeavor to simplify the surrounding complexity and to achieve the ultimate goal for

This is done through a top down approach in which elite of senior managers is dedicated to strategy
formulation while implementation is assigned to other people lower in the organization s hierarchy.
Under this approach, there is an emphasis on control mechanisms to ensure profit maximization.
Classical approach seeks to provide a long term direction for the organization and assumes that it
operates in a relatively stable environment. It can be summed up with the view of rational economic
man who works in a secure and predictable environment and thinks perfectly rational in a way that
guarantees optimal economic advantage (Karami, 2007), (Rowe, 2008). An example of a company
that uses the classical approach is Shell; the oil company. In Shell, there is a team dedicated for
making strategies that might stretch for ten years, quite long term! With this method, Shell is able to

economic and cultural impact with drastic consequences. It is considered too had changed years of
evolution.
The Columbian Exchange is the movement of goods or products and people. It was introduced in the
time of Columbus voyages. It put plants, animals and cultures together. Europe introduced technology,
corn, tomatoes, potatoes, peanuts, tobacco and cotton. The Old world then introduced wheat, rice,
sugarcane, horses, cattle, pigs and sheep. One downfall of this transaction was that Europeans brought
with them germs. Demographically during this time there was an estimation of fifty to ninety million
people in the Americas.

Seamus Heaney Blackberry-Picking Essay
Seamus Heaney s poem Blackberry Picking , conveys not only a literal description of picking
blackberries, but it also has a deeper meaning of the whole experience and that is death. Heaney uses
simile, imagery, and tone to reveal the deeper understanding, which is death, to the poem.
As Heaney mentions his hands being dirty and sticky from picking out many blackberries, he uses
simile to compare his sticky hands to Bluebeard s. Our palms sticky hands as Bluebeard s . Bluebeard
is a character (fictional) who murdered his wives, how can Heaney compare his sticky palms with a
murderer. Heaney compares his hands to a murderer which first gives the idea of death. Heaney is
Bluebeard (not literally).
He also introduces death to the poem by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states I always felt like crying. It wasn t fair that all the lovely canfuls smelt of rot. Each year I
hoped they d keep, knew try would not , the tone is disappointment. He had hope of the fruit staying
sweet and fresh for a very long time but knew that that would be impossible. After going through so
much, picking the berries, he always finds himself with rotten berries. Death, in general, can
disappoint you because you can just hope that death doesn t come by when we all know that it will.
To conclusion, Heaney reveals death in this poem by using simile, imagery, and tone. the berries
represent death as they go through the cycle of being fresh to being rotten. First, Heaney represents
death by comparing his hands to a character, Bluebeard, for ripping out the berries from the bushes
and having his hands all dirty and sticky from the hard work. Then, he uses imagery to describe how
the fruit changed by rotting. Lastly, he uses tone by revealing how disappointed he was of seeing the
fresh sweet berries turn into old sour berries that were no longer fresh. Although he has hope, he finds
himself apprehensive about the berries going to waist and knows that the life cycle will never change
and that it will never be

How Is Miss Brodie Controlled
A common theme in the novel The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is control. In The Prime of Miss Jean
Brodie, Spark depicts the negative influence Miss Brodie has on the girls dubbed the Brodie set.
A specific scene in which Miss Brodie has a negative influence on the girls is academically when
Mary Mcgregor goes to sign up for the classical side, when she does not have the grades. Why do you
want so much to go on the classical side, Mary? You aren t cut out for it. Don t your parents realize
that? she replied Miss Brodie prefers it (Spark 67).
A specific scene in which Miss Brodie has a negative influence on the girls is when she attempts to
convince Rose to become sexually involved Mr. Lloyd, to get him off of her back and distract him. It
was plain that Miss Brodie wanted Rose with her instinct to start preparing to be Teddy Lloyd s lover,
and Sandy with her insight to act as informant on the affair (Spark 116). The use of the phrase
preparing to be Teddy Lloyd s lover implies that Miss Brodie had plotted to manipulate Rose into
sleeping with Mr. Lloyd. Recall that Mr. Lloyd is married and has children, but that does not hinder or
stop Miss Brodie from proceeding with her plan. Miss Brodie does not want ... Show more content on

Last Day Of High School
The last day of my Early College High School (ECHS) 2017 year, was a day I will never forget. On
the last day of school, I got to drive my dad s truck; I remember telling myself I can t wait until I get
my own car, which is something I asked for on my Christmas list to Santa. I went to classes ready to
get my last final over with. The day went by pretty fast after the test, then we went to lunch and then
we had clubs. Since my club was not allowed to go to the gym, I stayed inside with the Medical club.
In the medical club, Cody gave a long presentation on the different Affordable Care Acts (ACA)
proposal, and we got into a debate which got me ready for the break even more.
At the beginning of the break, I was excited to be out of school, I had made so many plans. I made
plans to go to Austin and go to the spray paint park, and travel to Louisiana to celebrate my niece s
first birthday, but all of my plans were ruined.
For the first week of my break, I was sick. I winded up catching both the flu and strep throat, I thought
my Christmas break would be ruined, but it wasn t. During the time that I was sick, I got to plan which
Christmas gifts to get my family members instead of waiting until the last moment, and everyone
winded up loving their gifts. Due to the fact of me being sick, I couldn t go anywhere; which meant no
chores, no being told to get out the house; I actually had time to relax. While relaxing I caught on my
Netflix shows and my sleep.

Personality According To Biological And Social...
My Little Brother s Personality According to Biological and Social Cognitive Theories When I was a
little girl, my parents were foster parents because they wanted to adopt another child. Throughout my
childhood, there were many children who would come stay with us for a few days, sometimes a few
weeks or sometimes a few months. When I was 9 years old, my older sister, Miranda, and I came
home from school and noticed a little tricycle in our front yard. We ran inside to meet this cute 17
months old little boy named Jordan. Jordan s biological mother was a substance abuser and she
continued to abuse while she was pregnant with him. We suspect that this resulted in some of the
learning and behavioral problems that he deals with daily. Jordan is now 15 years old. As he has
gotten older, we have noticed how his personality differs from the rest of our family s. I will be
defining his personality by applying Eysenck s Biological Theory, Temperament, and Bandura s Social
Cognitive Theory. Eysenck s Biological Theory Jordan has always been unapologetically annoying.
He scores high on the extraversion end of the first dimension. He is very social and rarely meets a
stranger. He is popular amongst his peers at school, which could mostly be because they have all been
going to school together since Kindergarten. He is in show choir, and he also runs for the Cross
Country team. Jordan spends most of his time hanging out with friends, talking with friends, playing

Blue Collar Work Essay
Mishal Atiqur Due to technology advancing, the Western World has changed its industrial workforce
into more of a technological one. In this new work environment, service (white collar) workers have
become more valued than labor (blue collar) workers. Overtime, Western cultures have created an
assumption that service workers typically have higher paying salaries, higher statuses, and more
demanding positions when compared to labor workers. On the other hand, labor workers are labeled as
uneducated, unskillful, and lower in status. Because of these assumptions, people lean towards an
intellectual job rather than blue collar. Even schools now are focusing more on preparing their

Essay On News Consumption
Background and Research Question Survey questions and questionnaires can always be improved
upon. This can be done through changing the wording of the question, choosing a different response
scale for the question, or reordering the questions in the questionnaire. There are various ways to find
out if a survey question needs revision, such as identifying grammar and concept errors in the question
using specific techniques, or conducting in depth interviews to find out if survey respondents have any
issues in answering the survey questions. I will be using questions about news consumption provided
by Pew Research Center (Pew) to show how questionnaire improvement can be done. The questions
about news consumption were implemented by Pew to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will use a few different methods. One method is by using the Problem Classification Coding Scheme
(CCS). The CCS is a process to test for issues in the question answering processes. It is a series of 28
questions that go through each stage of answering a survey question. It tests to see if there are any
issues in any of the states of answering a question (Schaeffer and Dykema, 2011:919). Another
method is to the Question Understanding Aid (QUAID). QUAID is a mechanism to test for issues in
wording of a survey question, such as vague words or question length or even grammatical issues. The
goal of QUAID is to ensure that each question is grammatically correct, and easy for the respondent to
comprehend (Schaeffer and Dykema, 2011, 921). A third method and last method is to use cognitive
interviews. Cognitive interviews are small group discussions to talk about issues or topics to help in
the process of writing survey questions and making the survey process go quicker (BCB, 2014:434).
All three methods will be used for questionnaire improvement. For the cognitive interviews, two
interviews were done with people I knew. A summary about the people interviewed is presented in
Table 1.
Analysis
After conducting the cognitive interviews and using the CCS and QUAID, there are a few problems
present. For each question, the reference period is vague. The preamble asks for general news habits.
This is a problem since general could have very different meanings

I Am At The Local Grocery Store
I was at the local grocery store. It was a franchise styled to look like a local establishment. I stood
with a basket of impulse buys waiting in line to checkout. I observed with curiosity as a mother
appeared to struggle with product selection. Her son sat impatiently in the cart, trying to escape the
aged seatbelt. She held in each hand a box of detergent. They had comparable size and even resembled
each other s appearance. In her expression of exasperation she looked upward. There above her was a
display explaining the environmental benefits of the item in her left hand. As if receiving direction,
she placed that item in her cart and returned the unadvertised product to the shelf. She didn t even stop
to reevaluate the prices. She merely continued on her journey down the aisle.
That experience made me wonder. As I placed my own items on the conveyor belt, I rethought my
own decisions. I remember selecting the green (environmentally friendly) product several times, but
why? For one item there was an effective display with premium product packaging, and for another I
recalled a jingle I heard on the radio. I even remembered that they were both more expensive than
their brown (environmentally unfriendly) counterparts. I initially thought I was making those
selections because it was good for the Earth, but is that why?
The flood of questions that came to mind was overwhelming but they all boiled down to one general
principle, why do consumers buy environmentally friendly

Suffering through most of his life due to a disturbingly scarring childhood, he expresses his intense
mental and emotional insecurities through subtle metaphors that bluntly show problems with

safety and save his life. Little did many know, he also found and married his first love during the war,

Wright Brothers Airplane Failure
Hello, everyone today I will argue why I think why the Wright brothers were the first to fly, the first
and most accurate reason they left diaries, and other things to assure they were the first to fly. The
second detail other inventors who had claimed to have flew first have not left any clue of it. And the
last supporting detail of this idea is that other attempts to fly failed. Now let s talk about this in detail.
The diaries the Wright brothers left included all the models they did, their ideas, and some pictures
that prove they flew, they investigated the birds movements and they put them in the diaries and how
they carried out them to their airplanes. Now the others inventors that claimed to have flew first but

Opposing Forces Civil Rights Movement
Opposing forces When looking back on the Sixties, one of the most dominating themes of that period
was the Civil Rights Movement. The quest for civil rights had been started long ago, when the black
man was freed from the bonds of slavery. Over a hundred years later, the problem of blacks being
treated as second class citizens still persisted. What could be done to correct the present situation?
Some, both blacks and whites, believed that non violence was the only means to achieve civil rights,
as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached. Others like Huey Newton of the Black Panthers believed that
violence was the only way. (W. H. Chafe: The Unfinished Journey, Oxford University Press. 1999,

Power http://www.interchange.org/Kwameture/nytimes 111698.html). Principally, Carmichael s
approach called for a considerable revamping of the present structure within America. More
fundamentally, change had to begin within the black communities themselves. Blacks need to assert
their own influence and control over their neighborhoods, school districts, etc. They need to be active
participants in government, because any federal program conceived with black people in mind is
doomed if blacks do not control it. Obviously, blacks knew what was happening in their communities.
They knew what the problems were and what issues needed to be addressed. Without direct
involvement of black people in the decision making process, the black man s problems could and

unwavering quest to redefine black culture and make change, or, as Carmichael phrased it, take care of

Transformation Of Bilbo Baggins In The Hobbit By J. R.
The Hobbit is a book written by J.R.R. Tolkien that has entertained people for decades. The Hobbit is
an adventure fiction story. The main theme is the development and transformation of Bilbo Baggins
into a hero and an outgoing person. I chose this theme because at the beginning of the story, Bilbo is a
person that only worries about himself and only focuses on the comforts in life; and is very
introverted. Towards the ending of the story, Bilbo transforms into a hero due to the situations he
encounters.
The setting of the story occurs in a fictional place called Middle Earth. We don t know the year the
story takes place in. Consisting in northern Middle Earth is the Shire, the lush pasture in which hobbits

the Mountain, which refers to the Lonely Mountain. Thorin s ancestors had accumulated a great
amount of wealth, and were prospering in the valley of the Lonely Mountain. However, a fiendish
dragon by the name of Smaug had seen this great wealth, and was overtaken by greed. He killed
everyone and burned the surrounding villages. He has ever since been guarding the treasure within the

Examples Of Literacy Redefined
Literacy Redefined Literacy practices are what people do with literacy. However, practices are not
observable units of behaviour since they also involve values,, attitudes, feelings, and social
relationships, (Barton, Hamilton, 2017, p.299, ). As Barton and Hamilton (2017) wrote, Literacy
practices are incorporated through several methods within literacy events (p.299). Just as Literacy
practices, the definitions of literacy events, reading, writing, and texts stretch beyond their
connotations. The terms previously mentioned are essential to redefinining literacy because they are
the building blocks of literacy. Literacy is an ongoing developing skill that is unique to each person s
life and is changing with time and cultural development. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Hawisher and Selfe s article (2017), they write about Melissa Pearson, an African American woman
who grew up in the 60 s and 70 s. Melissa Pearson s family lived in the midst of the rapid innovation
of the size and functionality of computers, as well as in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement, The
Cold War, the election of John F. Kennedy, and other major turning points in American history
(Hawisher and Selfe, 2017, p.248). They write about how this affected Melissa s life dramatically.
Selfe and Hawisher (2017) express that because of segregation, Melissa was placed in a segregated
school, which was a blockage in her literacy path. Although this a major blockage compared to the
present education paths, it was a great improvement in opportunity for African Americans compared to
the years before Pearson was born. Despite her disadvantage in the education system and in life
experiences because of her skin color, Pearson had a greater opportunity than other African Americans
because of her family s values. Pearson s literacy events described in Hawisher and Selfe s article
(2017) are major turning points in her life and others , such as the maltreatment of African Americans
and moving to another country right at as microcomputers entered the US (Hawisher and Selfe, 2017).
Using microcomputers was another obstacle in Pearson s literacy

Theme Of Isolation In Catcher In The Rye
P.7 According to Merriam Webster, isolation is defined as to set apart from others . The novel, The
Catcher in the Rye and the film, Rebel Without a Cause both show how isolation affected certain
characters. In The Catcher in the Rye, Holden is isolated from the community around him. In Rebel
Without a Cause, Plato is as well isolated, he doesn t have a relationship with anyone at his school or
at home. Holden and Plato are similar in the way that they both struggle with isolation because they
cannot make a personal connection or relate to anyone in their lives. Holden s isolation stems from
superiority, while Plato s isolations stems from an inferiority complex. Holden shows many instances
of isolation throughout the book because he thinks that he is superior to everyone. For instance,
Holden was at Ernie s he was listening to Ernie playing the piano, he started to complain about how
pathetic it was that Ernie was playing the piano for a crowd. Anyway, when he was finished, and
everybody was clapping their heads off, old Ernie turned around on his stool and gave this very phony,
humble bow. Like as if he was a helluva humble guy... It was very phony I mean him being such a big
snob and all (110). Holden was jealous of Ernie because people were drawn to him and they like him.
Holden immediately concludes that there is a problem with Ernie. He does that because he thinks that
he is superior to everyone and that everyone else has the problem and not him. Holden s mindset of

Software Development Project Methodologies 1, Discuss Software Development Methodologies in
general what is a Methodology, why are methodologies used? Software Development Methodology is
a process of project to develop a software or system to improve its quality.

focusing on coding the software or system (technical part), it will emphasize how to develop the

As the result, there is no turning back and it might cause huge changes of the process. Weaknesses:
https://www.cms.gov/Research Statistics Data and Systems/CMS Information
Technology/XLC/Downloads/SelectingDevelopmentApproach.pdf However, there are lots of
weaknesses for Waterfall during development. The Waterfall model is not flexible and it s too slow
and costly because of the process cannot be changed and need to ensure each step finish before move
to next one. Because of this structure, the process cannot move backward and relay on the design and
documentation in the beginning, for example, it will be difficult and might need to start from
beginning again if clients want to change their requirements. During the development, there will be no
test for the program (only basic test) so some bugs or problems can t be found until system test step
and they need to fix the bugs and problems based on capacity. It wastes lots of time to update all
documentation, in addition, some specifications will be difficult for users to read and understand.
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/124732/Software Development Methodologies In short,
Waterfall can work well when everything is following the plan because the model rely on all
specification and documentation which finished before implement it, in another word, it s easy to
cause a failure or over budget because of changing requirements. 3,

Star Trek Gender Sterotypes Essay
The Star Trek television series was truly a groundbreaking show not just for its plot lines and
ideological messages, but also for its revolutionary cast. Two of the main actors were Jewish, one
main actor was a gay Asian, and of course, one was a black woman. Uhura was one of the first main
black characters on a television show and of course, her kiss with Kirk was the first interracial kiss
ever on television. For a show in the 1960s, Star Trek broke many barriers across religious, racial, but
most significantly gender lines. From television to film, from music to advertising, men are often
portrayed as strong willed and powerful, while women are often shown as submissive, powerless, and
sexually promiscuous. Particularly in American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems that the film breaks out of traditional gender stereotypes. However, looking a little deeper one
will see that in all the fight scenes, Uhura plays no part in giving out commands or taking initiative,
which perpetuates the stereotype that women don t take initiative. The women officers are shot with
the camera from the top down rather than from the bottom up as the men are which emphasizes the
physical size difference between the men and the women officers and belittles the power of the
women officers. Although the film appears to show strong women, the women in fact are weak and
are depicted as mostly useless the women also don t break out of any traditional gender stereotypes.
Despite, the apparent strength of Uhura, the film eroticizes Uhura through camera angles, her romantic
action toward Spock, and her costume. At the end of the film, the camera darts back and forth between
the main characters aboard the Enterprise. All of the men shown are siting up straight, and shot from
the bottom up to assert their strength and physical size. When Uhura is shown, her entire body is
shown while the men s bodies were only shown from the chest up she puffs out her chest, rests her
hands on her legs, and puts her legs together all signs that the film is trying to establish a sexual appeal
with Uhura s character. In addition, the

Space Shuttle Challenger Research Paper
The Space Shuttle Challenger was originally a test vehicle for the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA). In 1979, NASA ordered Challenger to be converted to a space rated orbiter,
which consisted of massive disassembly and restructuring of the orbiter. It was delivered back to
NASA as the second orbiter in their fleet of Space Shuttles in July 1982, where it was launched on its
first mission on 4 April 1983. Crew members conducted the first spacewalk of the Space Shuttle
program on this mission, and subsequent missions saw many other firsts for space exploration history
(1). Over Challenger s lifetime of three years, nine missions of various basis were successfully
completed (2).

Initial thrust built up while the shuttle was secured to the launch pad, and it was released without issue
and traveled upward as designed (5). No issues were noticed by the crew, officials, or observers at the
time of launch. Subsequent review of camera footage, however, reveals smoke emanating at a cyclic
rate of approximately 4 puffs per second from the aft field joint (AFJ) on the right SRB. As the shuttle
left the launch pad, the smoke dissipated from view. The next 55 seconds occurred without issue for
Challenger. All systems worked as programmed; notably, the automated guidance system was
particularly active on this flight due to record high wind shears experienced by the shuttle, yet
continued to be very effective. At 58.788 seconds after launch, flame appeared at the same location on
the starboard SRB s AFJ as the smoke had at launch. This flame continued to spread to the external
tank (ET) connection ring, then to the ET itself. It breached the ET, which housed liquid hydrogen
(LH2) and liquid oxygen (LO2) fuel for the shuttle s main engines. A large, visible flash surrounded
the stern of the shuttle system, all while the crew carried out normal navigational maneuvers. The
shuttle s engines shut down 73.5 seconds after launch due to lack of fuel, and all signals were lost at
74 seconds following a bright flash around the nose of the ET and orbiter

Watermelon Woman Analysis
As having a historical aspect in novels and films can have an major impact on plots, one must look at
the various ways history and historicity can be used. Both the novel Kindred and the film Watermelon
Woman utilize these historical aspects in similar and opposing ways to tell their stories. With matters
such as the knowledge (and/or lack of knowledge) and creating a imagine of history, the stories of
Dana and Cheryl provide readers and viewers with a look at the variety of impacts that can be
affected. In Watermelon Woman, viewers meet Cheryl, who is on a quest to find information on the
Watermelon Woman , a nickname given to Fae Richards, an actress she is fascinated with. Cheryl s
story is filled with seeking out people and sources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of Cheryl s and Dana s placement of time(s) in Watermelon Woman and Kindred, the
characters journeys are focused differently upon in the matters of history versus historicity. Defining
history as the facts of the past, it is clear that Cheryl lacks history at the basis of her image of
Richards. Dana doesn t lack history in comparison; she knows of the facts from what she learned
through her time in the past, it s simply not written down accurately in records. Dana lived through
history as a prominent figure in the lives of her ancestors. Throughout Kindred, Dana s journey creates
an image of history for readers compared to Cheryl, whose ending of Watermelon Woman is simply an
image she has created for her viewers through the creation of the film. Dana experiences historicity
first handedly throughout time, giving a truth to the representation of history she knows to be missing
from history s records. Cheryl, comparably, is a caught up documentor who uses history to find the
truth, which in her case, can be argued against due to such a lack of records and reliable sources. The
importance of history and historicity lies with how they can be used to represent truth. History is not
always accurate, people are left out and disregarded as being labeled important figures of the past. On
the opposing side, when a character, such as Dana, is so closely tied to being a historistic figure,
readers can

The Caribbean Plantation Model
dependencies and mini states that specialize in export of services and relatively high per capita
incomes. The more populous islands and the Guianas still have large agricultural sectors and relatively
low per capita incomes. The economic diversity within the Caribbean reflects the inequalities and
uneven development characteristic of the world capitalist economy. And intra Caribbean diversity was
addressed in the plantation models. Best Levitt saw regional integration as a complement to changing
internal structures of production and accumulation. The plantation economy school is at its strongest
when it analyses the coincidence of class and race relations in the plantation societies and the bases on
ethnic antagonism in ethnically plural plantation societies like Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. The
model is strongest in its pure plantation economy version where it represents the situation of island
economies in which slave plantation was the dominant unit of production as in British and French
west indies islands. Where slave plantations were not dominant as in the Hispanic islands or were part
of continental hinterlands.
Wolf saw the plantation as a class structures system. He believed that there was an old style and new
style plantation system. On the old style plantation system, the workers were responsible for
producing the surplus and also feed the owner, his family, service him, and to feed the workforce. The
old style plantation system reinforces the paternalistic

Eveline Persuasive Essay
As a child, Eveline had to step up in order to keep her family fed and functioning after her mother s
passing. Her mother died young, and her father soon turned to alcohol to help cope with the situation.
Even though Eveline had to work hard, she still continued to take on the responsibility of caring for
her family. Now, however, Eveline begins to question whether or not she still wants this
overwhelming responsibility. Eveline thinks she might have found love and a way to start a new,
better life, but she is hesitant to take this chance due to her fear of the possible risks and consequences.
Lacking the courage to flee from her domineering father and seek out her own happiness, Eveline
must find the courage to leave Frank.

continue keeping her home and family together. Eveline may not have had enough courage to stand up
to her father, but she had enough courage to go to a train station, planning to leave with Frank, and
leave him standing there alone. She had the courage to listen to her heart and stay behind with her
family. Choosing to stay meant Eveline gave up what could have been an amazing new life, as a

The Negative Effects Of The Plessy Vs. Ferguson Trial
Segregation had been something the United States had struggled with for years. During the 1890 s
segregation started to become more common and white people felt superior to other races, especially
African Americans. White people believed, black people did not deserve the rights and respect that
they had. Homer Plessy, the so called wrongdoer in the Plessy vs Ferguson case, was seven eighths
white and one eighths black, and he had an appearance of a white man. On June 7, 1892, he purchased
a railroad ticket from New Orleans to Covington La, and sat in an empty seat in a whites only car.
Homer told the conductor he was black, and when asked to leave and move on to the appropriate car,
he refused. He was an American citizen who had bought a first class ticket and deserved to sit on that
train. When the conductor called the police, Homer Plessy was arrested and later in court his case
challenged the system and had a large impact on the African American community. The Plessy vs
Ferguson trial affected humanity in both a positive and a negative way, because of the small negative
short term cultural effects, such as disrespect towards African Americans, and the long term positive
effects that lead to the equality between black and white people.
The Plessy v Ferguson Trial negatively affected humanity in a cultural way, creating separate but
equal rights, challenging the constitution in court, creating the problem of segregation which was
overturned in 1954. To begin, after the case,

Demand For A Product Or Service Essay
Demand for a product or service can be defined as the amount of a particular economic good or
service that a consumer or group of consumers will want to purchase at a given price over a specific
period of time. The demand is usually downward sloping, since consumers will want to buy more as
the price decreases. Demand for a good or service is determined by different factors other than price,
such as the price of substitute goods and complementary goods. In extreme cases, demand may be
completely unrelated to price, or nearly infinite at a given price (in the case of the tobacco industry)
(Beardshaw, 1991).
According to Philp, Dan and Galt (2009) it could be deduced that demand relative to the tobacco
industry is caused by a number of aspects in which the key driver is the price of the cigarettes.
Newport menthol 100s average price for a pack is $4.70 and a carton cost around $42.00. This price is
relative to it s competitor Marlboro menthol red cigarettes, which is the number one cigarette of all
time. Marlboro menthol red average price for a pack is $4.91 and a carton cost around $44.00. The
price of Newports is set because it s a brand loyalty product. For example, in the clothes market,
individuals would think of what Calvin Klein s would cost. If Parada sell 30% cheaper, then they
would consider paying a much lower price.
Cigarette valuing has long been a champion amongst the most fundamental advancing frameworks
utilized by the tobacco relationship as a part of the USA

History of Spanking Essay
Since the birth of the nation Americans have wrestled about the topic of spanking children for
discipline. We waver back and forth for a while it is okay and expected that we will discipline the
children by using corporal punishment. Then everything changes and for years it is no longer
acceptable. It has been the subject of many heated debates and will continue to do so as long as we
have parents and as long as they raise children. In the long run we will find out if spanking turned out
to be an asset or a liability but for the immediate future it is something America needs to go back to
using for guidance purposes. We are seeing more violence in teenagers than ever before, the juvenile
crime rate seems to be rising and for the last two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Members of the House of Prayer say their brand of corporal punishment is nothing more than an old
fashioned spanking. State officials say the spankings administered to at least two of the children in
that church crossed the line (Matrz, 2001). Corporal punishment, the DFCS manual says, is any
physical punishment of a child to inflict pain as a deterrent to wrong doing. It may produce transitory
pain and potential bruising. If pain and bruising are not excessive or unduly severe and result only in
short term discomfort, this is not considered maltreatment (Matrz, 2001). Where the line is crossed,
Liber said, is when the discipline causes injuries to the child. Once physical injury is left (on the
child), it constitutes child abuse and we have to intervene, she said (Matrz, 2001). While courts
continue to rule that spanking is okay, and schools are still using it as a measure of punishment in
many areas of the county there are millions of Americans who protest the use of corporal punishment
as a means to control or teach children lessons. For those who are against spanking they use the
argument that it is assault on a child. Any form of hitting even a swat on the butt is an assault on a
human being and should. Most parents feel strongly for or strongly against spanking. Their positions
are mainstays of their basic approaches to their children. At my town meetings and presentations,
parents often split and oppose one another as they defend

  • 2. Rosalind Franklin Stereotypes Throughout the ages, women have been have been subject to gender stereotypes, such as women should be at home, taking care of children and hearth, and should not be out conducting business, studying science, etc. If they were making progress outside the home, their work was often not credited properly, such in the case of Rosalind Franklin, whose photograph 51 evolved the fields of science, medicine and more. Rosalind Franklin was born in London, England in 1920 to a wealthy Jewish family. Though, her family valued education and public service, some sources say that her father did not believe in university education for women. Nevertheless, Franklin enrolled at Newnham Women s College at Cambridge University to study chemistry and physics. Franklin was part of a graduate fellowship, but she quit after one year, choosing to work at the British Coal Utilization Research Association (CURA). Her work there, which included studies of carbon and graphite microstructures, served as the basis for her Ph.D. thesis in physical chemistry at Cambridge in 1945. In 1947, she decided to move to Paris, where she worked in the Laboratoire Central des Services Chimiques de L Etat, learning X ray diffraction techniques from Jacques Mering, who was the head of the lab and is best remembered for his influence on Franklin. Just a few years later, in 1951, Franklin returned to England to work in John Randall s laboratory at King s College, London on a DNA project that had been untouched for ... Lenin s Contribution to Marxism up to 1905 and the Consequences Karl Marx was a German philosopher who wrote the Communist Manifesto, which encouraged workers to unite and seize power by revolution. His views became known as Marxism and influenced the thinking of socialists throughout Europe in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Marx believed that history was evolving in a series of stages towards a perfect state Communism. These stages started with Feudalism with the aristocrats controlling politics. Next would come Capitalism with the bourgeoisie in control of politics. Finally the perfect state would arrive Communism with the proletariat in control of politics. Marx ... In 1902 he published a pamphlet called What is to be done? This pamphlet contained his radical ideas towards the nature of a revolutionary party. In this pamphlet, there were three main points that Lenin made in relation to the role of a revolutionary party. An organisation of revolutionaries must contain primarily and chiefly people whose occupation is revolutionary activity… This organisation must necessarily be not very broad, and as secret as possible. This idea was stating that he wanted the party to consist of activists. He wanted people to go out and do something for the party rather than sit around and do nothing to help the cause of the party. This idea was later to contribute towards the split of the RSDWP. Lenin also stated; The one serious organisational principle for workers in our movement must be the strictest secrecy, strictest choice of members, training of professional revolutionaries. Lenin wanted the party to be professional and didn t want the country to know that there was a revolutionary party being constructed that was to revolt against the current government. The third major point that Lenin made in his pamphlet was; We must break completely with the tradition of a purely workers or

What I Know Now From My Studies And Research Of Eq By comparing what I know now from my studies and research of EQ, I acknowledge several areas of opportunity for EQ improvement including: Self Awareness: I was not as self aware as I could have been. I didn t recognize or acknowledge my emotions and how they may have impacted my thoughts and actions. Several factors related to both work and home contributed to my diminished self confidence. I was also self absorbed and showed low self esteem by taking on total blame for the outcome. It may be true that I might have been more influential with my boss if I had been more self assured. I thought at the time I presented my case with authority, but perhaps my thoughts and body language didn t portray that confidence. Regardless, I know that my role in these situations is to make recommendations; his role is to make the final decision. I do believe, however, that in general I will have more influence the more confident I am. Following the end of the 681 Traverse City class, I watched Amy Cuddy s Ted Talk on presence . She states that if you project self assurance, even if you re not feeling it, you will be more credible and influential with others. The old saying, fake it until you make it is true. They will buy your act. Self assessment: I also didn t make an accurate self assessment of my limits. I was burned out at work and home, and didn t take needed time away to refresh and refill my reservoir. Ironically, I often recognize when our managers and staff are exhibiting ... • 6. Hope In The Movie Precious 2. Throughout watching the movie Precious, I picked up on an overall theme of hope. Precious is a 16, obese black girl who has been sexually and physically abused by both of her parents. When times get tough and she is being abused, Precious day dreams about her future and where she wishes she could be in life. When is seems like life could not get any worse, Precious finds a way to keep her head up! A question I have regarding this film, is where does Precious get her willingness and drive to find a better life? She has no one to look up too. Her parents are abusive, broke, and jobless. This is not he life Precious daydreams of. As viewers, we do not know of anyone else in the movie that would provide Precious with hope. With the movie taking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Social Control And Bond Theory Social control/bond theory was developed by Travis Hirschi in1969. The social control approach is one of the three major sociological perspectives in understanding crime in our contemporary criminology. The theory holds that individuals will break the law as a result of the breakdown of the social bonds (Akers Sellers, 2004, p. 16). Control theorists believe that an individual conformity to societal social values and rules produced by socialization and maintained through social ties to the people and institutions. The social bond may include family attachment, an individual commitment to social norms or institutions like school, employment, churches and mosques. The key elements of the social bonds theory are an attachment to other individuals in the society and the desire to remain committed to following rules. In addition, an individual involvement in typical social behaviours as well as one s belief or the value systems a person ascribes. According to the theory, crime and delinquency will result when a person bond to society is weak or lose (Demuth Brown, 2004, p.65). Moreover, as social bonds increase in strength, individual costs of crime increases as well and this ultimately act as a barrier for committing a crime. The real intellectual roots of social bond theory date back several centuries. However, much interest among crime researchers began during the middle of the 20th century with significant work of Travis Hirschi. After that, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Use Of Foreshadowing In William Goldman s The Princess Bride William Goldman the author of The Princess Bride uses the foreshadowing technique anticipation both within the story and in his asides to create an edge of your seat reading experience. The concept of foreshadowing can be seen in three areas of the book love, pain and the interjections of Goldman. In the first chapter of the book when Buttercup is seventeen, she and Wesley declare their love to one another followed by the immediate departure of Wesley with these parting words I ll send for you soon. Count Rugen says this to Wesley in the Zoo of Death before leaving Wesley with the machine that had just made the wild dog scream. Wesley resides on the fifth floor of the Zoo of Death, the one Humperdink left the empty in hopes of someday finding something worthy, something as dangerous and powerful as he was(...)so he kept the great cage of the fifth level always in readiness (75). Symbolic interactionism falls under this category pretty well actually. Symbolic interactionism is a theoretical perspective in which society is viewed as composed of symbols that people use to establish meaning, develop their views of the world, and communicate with one another. Usually people from the United states use this term for people coming across the border from Mexico or south America. Richard Whittington introduced four theories of strategy to explain how people behave and think in real business world and what the projected implications of their various behaviors on strategic management are. The four theories proposed by Whittington are: classical, evolutionary, processual and systemic theories. Classical approach to strategy is a reductionist and scientific one. Classicists are influenced by Taylorism which entails rational thinking and breaking problems and situations into their components to solve them while ignoring that the whole is greater than the sum of its components. It can be summed up with the view of rational economic man who works in a secure and predictable environment and thinks perfectly rational in a way that guarantees optimal economic advantage (Karami, 2007), (Rowe, 2008). • 13. How Is Miss Brodie Controlled A common theme in the novel The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is control. In The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Spark depicts the negative influence Miss Brodie has on the girls dubbed the Brodie set. A specific scene in which Miss Brodie has a negative influence on the girls is academically when Mary Mcgregor goes to sign up for the classical side, when she does not have the grades. Why do you want so much to go on the classical side, Mary? You aren t cut out for it. Don t your parents realize that? she replied Miss Brodie prefers it (Spark 67). A specific scene in which Miss Brodie has a negative influence on the girls is when she attempts to convince Rose to become sexually involved Mr. Lloyd, to get him off of her back and distract him. It was plain that Miss Brodie wanted Rose with her instinct to start preparing to be Teddy Lloyd s lover, and Sandy with her insight to act as informant on the affair (Spark 116). On the last day of school, I got to drive my dad s truck; I remember telling myself I can t wait until I get my own car, which is something I asked for on my Christmas list to Santa. I went to classes ready to get my last final over with. The day went by pretty fast after the test, then we went to lunch and then we had clubs. Since my club was not allowed to go to the gym, I stayed inside with the Medical club. In the medical club, Cody gave a long presentation on the different Affordable Care Acts (ACA) proposal, and we got into a debate which got me ready for the break even more. At the beginning of the break, I was excited to be out of school, I had made so many plans. I made plans to go to Austin and go to the spray paint park, and travel to Louisiana to celebrate my niece s first birthday, but all of my plans were ruined. For the first week of my break, I was sick. I winded up catching both the flu and strep throat, I thought my Christmas break would be ruined, but it wasn t. During the time that I was sick, I got to plan which Christmas gifts to get my family members instead of waiting until the last moment, and everyone winded up loving their gifts. • 16. Personality According To Biological And Social... My Little Brother s Personality According to Biological and Social Cognitive Theories When I was a little girl, my parents were foster parents because they wanted to adopt another child. Throughout my childhood, there were many children who would come stay with us for a few days, sometimes a few weeks or sometimes a few months. When I was 9 years old, my older sister, Miranda, and I came home from school and noticed a little tricycle in our front yard. We ran inside to meet this cute 17 months old little boy named Jordan. Jordan s biological mother was a substance abuser and she continued to abuse while she was pregnant with him. We suspect that this resulted in some of the learning and behavioral problems that he deals with daily. Jordan is now 15 years old. As he has gotten older, we have noticed how his personality differs from the rest of our family s. I will be defining his personality by applying Eysenck s Biological Theory, Temperament, and Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory. • 17. Blue Collar Work Essay Mishal Atiqur Due to technology advancing, the Western World has changed its industrial workforce into more of a technological one. In this new work environment, service (white collar) workers have become more valued than labor (blue collar) workers. Overtime, Western cultures have created an assumption that service workers typically have higher paying salaries, higher statuses, and more demanding positions when compared to labor workers. On the other hand, labor workers are labeled as uneducated, unskillful, and lower in status. Because of these assumptions, people lean towards an intellectual job rather than blue collar. Even schools now are focusing more on preparing their students to become service workers. According to Matthew Crawford s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be done through changing the wording of the question, choosing a different response scale for the question, or reordering the questions in the questionnaire. There are various ways to find out if a survey question needs revision, such as identifying grammar and concept errors in the question using specific techniques, or conducting in depth interviews to find out if survey respondents have any issues in answering the survey questions. One method is by using the Problem Classification Coding Scheme (CCS). The CCS is a process to test for issues in the question answering processes. It is a series of 28 questions that go through each stage of answering a survey question. It tests to see if there are any issues in any of the states of answering a question (Schaeffer and Dykema, 2011:919). Another method is to the Question Understanding Aid (QUAID). QUAID is a mechanism to test for issues in wording of a survey question, such as vague words or question length or even grammatical issues. The goal of QUAID is to ensure that each question is grammatically correct, and easy for the respondent to comprehend (Schaeffer and Dykema, 2011, 921). A third method and last method is to use cognitive interviews. Cognitive interviews are small group discussions to talk about issues or topics to help in the process of writing survey questions and making the survey process go quicker (BCB, 2014:434). All three methods will be used for questionnaire improvement. For the cognitive interviews, two interviews were done with people I knew. A summary about the people interviewed is presented in Table 1. Analysis After conducting the cognitive interviews and using the CCS and QUAID, there are a few problems present. I stood with a basket of impulse buys waiting in line to checkout. I observed with curiosity as a mother appeared to struggle with product selection. Her son sat impatiently in the cart, trying to escape the aged seatbelt. She held in each hand a box of detergent. They had comparable size and even resembled each other s appearance. In her expression of exasperation she looked upward. There above her was a display explaining the environmental benefits of the item in her left hand. As if receiving direction, she placed that item in her cart and returned the unadvertised product to the shelf. She didn t even stop to reevaluate the prices. She merely continued on her journey down the aisle. That experience made me wonder. As I placed my own items on the conveyor belt, I rethought my own decisions. I remember selecting the green (environmentally friendly) product several times, but why? For one item there was an effective display with premium product packaging, and for another I recalled a jingle I heard on the radio. I even remembered that they were both more expensive than their brown (environmentally unfriendly) counterparts. I chose this theme because at the beginning of the story, Bilbo is a person that only worries about himself and only focuses on the comforts in life; and is very introverted. Towards the ending of the story, Bilbo transforms into a hero due to the situations he encounters. The setting of the story occurs in a fictional place called Middle Earth. The novel, The Catcher in the Rye and the film, Rebel Without a Cause both show how isolation affected certain characters. In The Catcher in the Rye, Holden is isolated from the community around him. In Rebel Without a Cause, Plato is as well isolated, he doesn t have a relationship with anyone at his school or at home. Holden and Plato are similar in the way that they both struggle with isolation because they cannot make a personal connection or relate to anyone in their lives. Holden s isolation stems from superiority, while Plato s isolations stems from an inferiority complex. Holden shows many instances of isolation throughout the book because he thinks that he is superior to everyone. For instance, Holden was at Ernie s he was listening to Ernie playing the piano, he started to complain about how pathetic it was that Ernie was playing the piano for a crowd. Anyway, when he was finished, and everybody was clapping their heads off, old Ernie turned around on his stool and gave this very phony, humble bow. Like as if he was a helluva humble guy... The Waterfall model is not flexible and it s too slow and costly because of the process cannot be changed and need to ensure each step finish before move to next one. Because of this structure, the process cannot move backward and relay on the design and documentation in the beginning, for example, it will be difficult and might need to start from beginning again if clients want to change their requirements. During the 1890 s segregation started to become more common and white people felt superior to other races, especially African Americans. White people believed, black people did not deserve the rights and respect that they had. Homer Plessy, the so called wrongdoer in the Plessy vs Ferguson case, was seven eighths white and one eighths black, and he had an appearance of a white man. On June 7, 1892, he purchased a railroad ticket from New Orleans to Covington La, and sat in an empty seat in a whites only car. Demand For A Product Or Service Essay Demand for a product or service can be defined as the amount of a particular economic good or service that a consumer or group of consumers will want to purchase at a given price over a specific period of time. The demand is usually downward sloping, since consumers will want to buy more as the price decreases. Demand for a good or service is determined by different factors other than price, such as the price of substitute goods and complementary goods. In extreme cases, demand may be completely unrelated to price, or nearly infinite at a given price (in the case of the tobacco industry) (Beardshaw, 1991). According to Philp, Dan and Galt (2009) it could be deduced that demand relative to the tobacco industry is caused by a number of aspects in which the key driver is the price of the cigarettes. Newport menthol 100s average price for a pack is $4.70 and a carton cost around $42.00. This price is relative to it s competitor Marlboro menthol red cigarettes, which is the number one cigarette of all time. Marlboro menthol red average price for a pack is $4.91 and a carton cost around $44.00. The price of Newports is set because it s a brand loyalty product. For example, in the clothes market, individuals would think of what Calvin Klein s would cost. If Parada sell 30% cheaper, then they would consider paying a much lower price. Members of the House of Prayer say their brand of corporal punishment is nothing more than an old fashioned spanking. State officials say the spankings administered to at least two of the children in that church crossed the line (Matrz, 2001). Corporal punishment, the DFCS manual says, is any physical punishment of a child to inflict pain as a deterrent to wrong doing. It may produce transitory pain and potential bruising. If pain and bruising are not excessive or unduly severe and result only in short term discomfort, this is not considered maltreatment (Matrz, 2001). Where the line is crossed, Liber said, is when the discipline causes injuries to the child. Once physical injury is left (on the child), it constitutes child abuse and we have to intervene, she said (Matrz, 2001).
