Essay on The Labour Government as The Creator Of The...
The Labour Government as The Creator Of The Welfare State A Welfare State is a system in which the
government undertakes responsibility for the well being of its population, through unemployment
insurance, old age pensions and other social security measures. In order to achieve this the Labour
Government of 1945 51 introduced a number of reforms, including the National Insurance Act of 1946
and the Education Act. They also managed to achieve full employment, a target never met before in
Britain. However, they are not the only reason for the arrival of the Welfare State. The Liberal
Government of 1906 14 also deserves some credit, as well as the coalition government formed during
World War Two, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Labour took the idea they produced three pieces of legislation. These were the National
Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act of 1946, the National Insurance Act of 1946 and the National
Assistance Act of 1948. The National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act made injuries sustained in the
work place a public matter and set up an insurance scheme, where the worker, employer and the state
paid money weekly, providing insurance against injury. The National Insurance Act provided, as
suggested by Beveridge, a range of benefits to cover the person from birth until death. The National
Assistance Act provided further cover for those who were disabled, old aged, sick or of any other
special needs, acting as a safety net. The problem with this, however, was that benefits were not set
high enough and so National Assistance boards were flooded with applications for extra benefit,
creating great strain on the available funds. To deal with the problem of disease Labour provided the
National Health Service. This was completely thought up by them and was very successful. It
provided free medical assistance of any kind, including eye care, dental care, hearing facilities,
specialists and general practitioners. It is arguably the greatest single achievement in the story of the
Welfare State. Ignorance was dealt with through the

Essay On The Art Of Camille Corot
When I first saw this painting done by Camille Corot, I was in awe. It was one of the many beautiful
paintings that I saw on my first trip to the Fine Arts Museum of Houston. The painting looks almost
dreamlike and soft, which amazed me on how a painter could create an art piece as such. This piece is
called Orpheus Leading Eurydice from the Underworld, by Camille Corot, French, 1861, the medium
is oil on canvas. I was immediately attracted to this art piece because of the earthy and naturalistic
colors used, and how the landscape seems almost hazy. This enchanting painting tells the tragic Greek
myth of Orpheus, the Greek god of music, saving his wife, Eurydice, from Hades, God of the
Underworld. Orpheus absentmindedly breaks the terms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Devoted to his paintings he once said to a friend All I really want to do in life... is to paint landscapes.
This firm resolve will stop me forming any serious attachments. That is to say, I shall not get married .
I like the softness of how Corot painted this art piece. The painting, to me, looks simple yet
topographical, due to the trees and bushes painted. What I did not like about this piece is the way he
depicted the Underworld. The Underworld is said to be very dark and gloomy, due to all the dead
spirits living there, but Corot paints it with light and lush, making it look anything but eerie. He uses
Time and motion by showing Orpheus legs in a walking position, whilst holding Eurydice arm,
leading her out of the Hades Underworld. Also, the texture of the trees and bushes have a realistic
topographical and layered appearance with shades of blacks and browns. Since Corot is a landscape
painter, he often uses atmospheric perspective to create the illusion of depth. He shows the spirits
mourning their death in the background with shades of cool tones and uses light colors, while
emphasizing Eurydice and Orpheus in the foreground with more deep and darker colors. Another
element I ve seen in Corot s painting is his use of space, he shows Orpheus and Eurydice on the corner
right while the rest of the image is more focused on his beautiful landscape in the background.
Additionally, the focal point that immediately caught my eyes attention was the spirits depicted

Homeowners Adding Grid Soila Photvoltaic Systems
As the population is constantly increasing the demand for energy is skyrocketing, resources are
diminishing, and pollution is intensifying. Embracing a renewable energy system is essential.
Homeowners can embrace a on the grid solar photovoltaic system that will diminish the
environmental footprint, and decrease the waste of energy. There are some obstacles to become energy
independent, however the payoff will benefit in preserving the environment, societies, and future
generations A solar photovoltaic system (PV) has been around for 174 years, the system was first
discovered in 1839 by a French physicist Alexandre Edmund Becquerel. He discovered the effects of
the system while testing with an electrolytic cell made up of two metal electrodes. Sense his findings
PV system has revolutionized through the year by various scientists, inventors, and organization.
Protovolactic system developed and become a much desired in the 1980, the system was commonly
used and found in calculators, wristwatches, radios, and other various electronic gadgets. (Sunlight
Electric, 2013) Today, the industry s production of PV modules is growing at approximately 25
percent annually, and major programs in the U.S., Japan and Europe are rapidly accelerating the
implementation of PV systems on buildings and interconnection to utility networks. (Florida Solar

Irene And Clare Compare And Contrast
For instance, Irene and Clare have so many similarities. She s light skinned enough to pass as white;
this makes her parallel to Clare. When Irene is contemplating about ratting Clare out to Clare s
husband, it s similar to betraying herself, and betraying her own desire to appear white. Irene was
stuck in the middle and all her insecurities got to her in the end. She enjoyed the thrill of being able to
see the world of two sides in a way white and black. Irene and Clare are black, but their light skin
allows for them to pass as white. So they re divided into two parts. Irene is torn up about Clare and she
definitely resents Clare s affair with her husband, but she wants to side with her because the two
women have so much in common. Clare

Examples Of Hegemonic Masculinity
Writing Assignment 5
In gender studies, hegemonic masculinity is the norms and values upheld as an ideal for all males. The
concept of hegemonic masculinity was proposed first from a field study in Australian high schools of
social inequality by Kessler. (Kessler et al. 1982) The concept was later made popular by sociologist
R.W. Connell. All men are upheld to the image of being the strongest and most aggressive, and to hold
the power over women and other men. What do males have that lead them to commit more crime?
That question has been noted for years, but no one can pinpoint the exact answer. Some sociologist
denote masculinity to the answer of the previous question. From a young age, men are perfectly
characterized as someone who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2012, H M used soccer star David Beckham is perhaps one of the most vivid ads still today.
Beckham, a tattooed, athletic and muscular man, embodies hegemonic masculinity to a sporting
audience. Because Beckham is a globally recognized, the commercial does not need to add his athletic
ability, financial statues, and wife to gain audience viewers. By being married, Beckham is observed
to be a real man. Placing someone like Beckham in a Super Bowl commercial, unlike an ordinary
man, bring a whole new meaning to today s society. An eye opening example of movies that display
hegemonic masculinity are Disney movies. Considering the male roles in The Lion King, Beauty in
the Beast, and the Little Mermaid, the male roles have always come to the rescue to save the princess.
Disney s artist create these male roles to be larger than the other characters and displaying more
muscle. Most of these characters, and many I didn t mention, didn t just save the princess easily. They

Subject: The Pianist Notes and Guidelines
It is extremely important to take note that the memoir you are about to portray is one of the most
simplistically beautiful and brutal pieces of literature ever written on the Holocaust. It is your job to
continue this brave act of defiance, to retell Wladyslaw Wladek Szpilman s story to a wider, more
modern audience than ever before. As Wolf Biermann explains in the epilogue, this memoir is so
difficult to swallow that the Eastern European audience of 1946 were unable to tolerate such an
authentic and unflinching view of the horror they had lived through, causing the memoir to not be
published again until fifty years later. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s resolute and powerful display of human weakness is a message that needs to be portrayed
accurately. By the end of the film, the viewer needs to fully understand just how a leader like Hitler
rose to power and successfully conceived and executed history s greatest mass murder. It is essential
to show Szpilman as not a typical hero, but as a battered and weakened human being who by the grace
of his fellow man, survived. The film needs to offer the same stark reality that Szpilman selflessly
gives to the reader. This film cannot be another Hollywood feel good film. No false messages of hope
or salvation can be found in the memoir, and therefore, should not be found on the screen. The
senseless violence and mob mentality of this era needs to be understood by the modern audience, so as

Sex Offender Law History
Over two decades ago, law enforcement started compiling information on convicted sex offenders, in
an online database with the exclusive aim of reducing recidivism. Initially, it was for law enforcement,
but throughout the years this information became available to the public (McPherson 2016). Before
the early 1990 s, a tracking system was unheard of for keeping tabs on sex offenders. Since then,
legislatures have enacted laws, with the most recognized act; Sex Offender Registration and
Notification (SORN), which is Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act (AWA) of
2006 ( 109th Congress Public Law 109 248, 2006). The Act was amended when a young child by the

The Abc Murders
The ABC Murders Summary and analysis
Summary (Spoiler Alert):
Hastings, Hercule Poirot s partner and assistant, returns to Britain, just as Poirot receives a sinister
letter from an unknown person under the alias ABC. The letter says, that he should look out for
Andover, on the 21st of the month.
Just as stated in the letter, something happens on the 21st. A woman in Andover, named Alice Asher,
turns up dead. On the crime scene an ABC railway guide is found, and Andover is marked. The police
believes that this is just a coincidence, and that the letter and the murder are not connected.
On the very same day, Poirot receives another letter. This time it tells Poirot, to look out for Bexhill on
the 25th. On the 25th another woman is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poirot thinks the entire case through, and he has a revelation. He gathers everyone to tell the story, and
Franklin, Sir Carmichael Clarkes brother is revealed as the culprit.
Analysis of Hercules Poirot:
Hercules Poirot is a cunning belgian private detective. He is a very plain character, and troughout the
film, he does not undergo any changes to his personality. His plain character is very characteristic for
the british crime fictions. This is aimed, towards keeping the puzzle in the center of attention.
Poirot would never engage in violence, instead he uses his famous little grey cells to solve the puzzles.
Poirot does not believe in coincidences, which is seen several times in the film. Even though he is
little, he stands tall.
From start to finish Poirot is teaching Hastings about being a detective, and how to catch the real
clues. This is very common in crime fiction, and it tends to happen quite often in crime novels and
films. This also happens in the Sherlock Holmes novels/films, where Sherlock Holmes is teaching Dr.
Watson how to think, and how to observe.
Poirot is very smart and guileful, in the way he plays tricks on the murdered peoples relatives. He is a
man of pride and dignity, and in his own eyes he is the best detective in the world.
Discussion of Van Dine s 20 rules of writing detective stories:

The Communist Manifesto And The Revolution
Part B #2: The Communist Manifesto and the Revolution
A revolution generally thought of as a change from the norm. According to Christopher Hill the
definition of a revolution is a complete over throw of the established government in any country or
state by those who have been previously subjected to it . Another way to think about a revolution is as
an uprising caused by a group of individuals towards another group due to unfair conditions or
treatment. The Communism Manifesto, written by Karl Marx, was a document written for the general
public that described communism and promoted the oppressed individuals to change societal social
class. I will argue that the Communism Manifesto was a document that was meant to start a
revolution. In society the oppressors, the bourgeoisie, had complete control over the government,
working condition, as well as the lives of the oppressed middle and lower class, the proletariats. If the
proletariats wanted to see a change in the inequality caused by the class system and regain power then
it is the essential that the proletariats overthrow the existing power. According to the Manifesto the
history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle, in other words class conflict has
occurred throughout history, and will continue to occur. A revolution will lead history towards its final
destination.
The proletariats are the group of people, according to the Communist Manifesto, that will eventually

The Christian Old Testament Of The Bible Today
In the beginning, God created the Heauen, and the Earth. And the earth was without forme, and voyd,
and darknesse was vpon the face of the deepe: and the spirit of God mooued vpon the face of the
waters. And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. (Genesis 1 3) So begins the first book of
the Christian Old Testament, the Hebrew Torah, one of the most recognizable texts in history. At least,
the text begins the King James Bible in 1611, itself arguably the most influential version or translation
of the Bible today. But this is not the original text. Surprisingly, the original scripture was not written
in Early Modern English in the 17th century in the British Isles, but in Hebrew and possibly Aramaic,
while the New Testament was written in Koine Greek. In fact, the original Hebrew looked nothing like
our Latin script of today. Hebrew is a Semitic language, and therefore an Afroasiatic one, while
English is Indo European, and you would be hard pressed to find someone who believes that the two
fall into a larger, connected language family besides some Indian nationalists who believe that all
languages are derived from Sanskrit, or Tamil. And although there is much borrowing and exchanging
of roots and words, modern English speakers have no mutual intelligibility with Hebrew. As Ralph
Waldo Emerson famously said in his Letters and Social Aims, Language is a city to the building of
which every human has brought a stone. It s a nice concept, and it would be hard

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings By Maya Angelou Analysis
There is one person that is a civil rights activist, memoirist, a poet and above all a woman, this person
is none other than Maya Angelou. Angelou has been a famous American poet since the release of her
1969 autobiography, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. Angelou has inspired many people by
telling her life story to the public, but not only did she inspire, she also created a very different and
personal point of view of the world we live in. The poem s she has written transition from pain and
suffering or to courage and confidence. Nonetheless, even though Angelou wrote mostly about
anguished emotions due to her past relations, her poetry expresses what she cannot demonstrate

Angelou compares our hearts to stone and even though we may have doctors to cure us, we will
always be selfish in our own way making it troublesome for us to get out of the habit of thinking about
ourselves. This stanza is truthful in its own right, we humans are selfish due to greed and when
Angelou uses the phrases along the lines of we can t make it out here alone , it just shows that we have
no one to blame but ourselves if certain situations end up atrocious. To prove my point more, in the
second to the last stanza she writes, The wind is gonna blow, the race of man is suffering , this shows
that Angelou saw the change in people, that we cause chaos, that we drive not only ourselves but
others mad causing everyone to be self absorbed. Alone is a powerful poem that makes people reflect
on themselves and their actions. Even though Angelou wrote about anguished poems like Alone and
Caged Bird, she did however write about equality and confidence. This poem that is about equality is

Is Cyberbullying as Pervasive and as Dangerous as Physical...
Making nick names by classmates, posting secret photos online by colleagues, or even being slandered

cyberbullying experiences because it occurs more frequently than before. More specifically,
cyberbullying is the use of the Internet, cell phones, or other electronic communication devices to

Tom s family was devastated by the cyberbullying because they were clueless about the anonymous

More importantly, cyberbullying has deeper influence than physical bullying because it may involve
in a wide range of audiences within short time period and give high pressure to victims
psychologically. For the traditional physical bullying, it refers to the physical altercations or perhaps
verbal abuse from others, so victims of traditional physical bullying might feel safe at home, which
can be limited the bullying in the place. Even though someone is injured due to physical bullying, the

Hezekiah Essay
Throughout the Old Testament, several kings rose to the throne of Israel and Judah. These kings were
known for their wickedness in the eyes of the Lord, many of whom permanently damaged their
kingdoms. Possibly the only king who displayed no such traits was Hezekiah. Hezekiah bowed to the
Lord in all things and upheld all his statutes. It is for this reason he is righteous. Therefore, from
Hezekiah s fear in God, his constant communication and faith, and his reliance on only the LORD in
Judah, God declares him to be an exceedingly righteous King. Likely the most obvious factor of
Hezekiah s righteousness is obedience and conformance to God s laws. These attributes are exhibited
not of fear of consequence, but honor and love. Hezekiah demonstrates this in a an overruling sense,
in some cases just in general upholding of the law of Moses, and in others, direct obedience to God s
commandments. His fear in the Lord was so complete, it is explicitly stated in 2 Kings 18:6. The
question is no longer was he obedient, but instead, How does his obedience make him righteous. The
essential concept for this is justification by faith. This concept, which was first shown with Abel and
then Abraham, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Jfk Airport Is The Best And Worst Experience Of My Life
I grew up in a little, one red light town, where we have one festival a year that celebrates blueberries,
where playing in the mud is not an unusual thing, and where being barefoot is almost normal. I live in
the country. The country is my home. So, to think that I would ever end up on a three week stay in a
place where the horns never stop honking, the sirens never ceased to exist, and the people are within
arms distance all around you, would be crazy. I mean going to the Big Apple , it is an insane idea. The
only thing around here that s big is our barns. I believe that going to New York City was the best and
worst experience of my life. The plane ride was an experience that I definitely enjoyed. It was my first

The JFK airport is a whole experience in itself. The airport is a mall, a restaurant, a spa, a liquor store,
and many other things all in one. Stepping out into the streets of New York is like stepping into altered
universe. The horns are screamed in your ear, the people are shuffling across the street before the

two men are the leading antagonist and protagonist of the immensely popular franchise, Star Wars. For
those that do not know, Darth Vader is the villain who leads a heinous army known as The Empire.
Through methods of fear and intimidation, Vader fabricates a mega weapon capable of destroying

Transformational leaders provide vision and a sense of mission (Bass, 1990, p.22). Luke Skywalker
was excellent at this. He had a unique ability to rally people from hundreds of different worlds for the
single cause of ending Imperial Oppression. One of his primary mission statements is to believe in
your cause. According to Bass (1990), this method inspires people to have a passion for what they do,
which usually leads to the job being done better and more thoroughly. This type of leadership also
adds a sense of independence to the follower. They will begin to think and act on their own,
progressively turning into a leader of their own followers. Darth Vader on the other hand, uses the
transactional approach by inspiring by means of rewards and punishment. If a Stormtrooper, which is
one of the empire s soldiers, doesn t complete his orders, then Vader very well might put him to death.
If he does perform his duty, then he will get the reward of continuing his life. This is obviously an
extreme example of transactional leadership, but the idea of it stays true to goal based

Rent Control Advantages
As a landlord or tenant, they should know what rent control is and the advantages and disadvantages
of it. Rent control is a government control of the amounts charged for rented housing
(Dictionary.com). It regulates the maximum rent price, how much rent can go up, and what options are
available to tenant who love in rental properties that need repairs (Apartment Ratings).
The goal of rent control is to make affordable housing available for lower income residents (Ink Niche
Insight + Analysis). Rent control limits the amount a landlord can freely increase rent. A landlord can
only raise rent once a year and the percentage of increase is not very high (Enlighten Me). This helps
the tenant ease having their rent go up more quickly than their income. Tenants are protected from
being evicted. The landlords of apartments and houses saw rent go up and the tenants stayed, so they
tried to find a way to evict the tenants in order to raise the rent for the next tenant. Now, cities with
rent control have regulations that require a long complicated process to evict a tenant. For a landlord,
rent control can be a better deal to their tenant, increasing them to be motivated to hold on to where
they are living. This can make a building full of tenants that will not cause much trouble and tenants
who always pay their rent on time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Housing quality is major disadvantage of rent control. Since their income is limited due to rent
control, landlords have little motivation to make improvements or upgrades on their property.
However, a landlord has a specific time period to make repairs and if they do not make the repairs fast
enough the tenant can pay for the repairs and take the amount they paid out of their rent
(LandlordBlog). A tenant can take advantage by subleasing to other people and charging more than the
rent costs, which allows them to make a profit

The Effect Of Riluzole On Treating Motor Neuron Disease...
6.10 Discussion
Neuroprotective activity of riluzole is already reported in the literature. At present, it is the only
available successful drug for treating motor neuron disease like ALS. But its poor aqueous solubility,
short half life with some side effects at higher concentration (as it is recommended twice or thrice a
day for long time) restricted its use as a neuroprotective agent (Borderias Clau, 2006; Cheah, 2010). In
the present study, we have evaluated the neuroprotective activity of nanoriluzole (NR) for treating one
of the most severe brain diseases at a quite low dose using nanocarrier. MCAO is one the best model
for ischemic stroke as it mimic most of the feature of natural brain stroke (Longa, 1989; Heurteaux,
2006; Vaibhav, 2013). Ischemia was induced in rats through MCAO model for 1 hr followed by a
reperfusion period of 24 hrs and NR was given intraperitonally after 1 hr of ischemia induction.
Animals were evaluated for their behavior study and sacrificed to remove the brain for analysing
various related parameters like infarct, biochemical, histopathology and immunohistochemical study.
It is very well demonstrated that MCAO results in the injury to striatum, cortex and hippocampus
region depending upon the time of occlusion of MCA and reperfusion period (Longa, 1989;
Nagasawa, 1989; Heurteaux, 2006). This can be clearly visualized using TTC staining. TTC which is
usually white in color is reduced by dehydogenases (especially succinate dehydrogenase) into

Rhetorical Analysis: Banksy
Religious imagery is something that can be found in artwork all through the centuries. An anonymous
world renowned graffiti artist who goes by Banksy places traditional paintings in public places altered
to send an iconoclastic message about society and government. In this image he depicts a traditional
figure of Jesus dying on the cross, but in his hands can be found shopping bags full of presents and
candy. Jesus, an iconic figure in religious history, has been turned into a puppet to fit the mold of our
consumer driven society. The rhetor presents an iconoclastic view that the integral commemoration of
Jesus death and the religious aspects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its entire scope wanes away until soon enough, any salvation God intended Jesus death to bestow
upon the people will be lost while consumerism and monetary concernment will take control. The
ways Banksy uses this skewed image of Jesus on the cross suggests that he believes society needs to
break away from strongly valuing consumerism the way it does currently. The rhetor utilizes this
image to depict what he believes society has become, and how drastically different it is from what
God envisioned. In this particular image, Banksy has included Jesus to further depict his anti
consumerism views, believing that Jesus never intended Christians to value tangible objects. The
rhetor gains support because he is not attacking society as a whole or blaming anyone in particular. By
including Jesus in a sense he is defending religion whom so many regard so highly. By defining his
position as defensive of God rather than attacking what society has become people are forced to re
evaluate what they value most. The rhetor s suggested stance on the issue and the way he presents the
controversial religious topic rallies support and acknowledgment of society s faults rather than denial
and outrage. The nature of Banksy s work is iconoclastic in the way he blatantly designs images to
rebel governmental authority or depict the failings of

Christopher Barry Research Paper
How do the directors Christopher Barry and Charles Palmer express science fiction in the Doctor who
original serial (1965) and reboot (2007)?
Doctor Who is a British science fiction television program that has been produced by the BBC since
1963. The original series aired from 1963 until 1989 and was revived in 2005 with a new series and
numerous spinoffs. The protagonist in both the original and the reboot, is The Doctor , an
extraterrestrial being from the planet Gallifrey. The Doctor explores time and space in a time
travelling space ship called the TARDIS, (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space). Many
companions are introduced over the series to accompany The Doctor. To explore the differences and
similarities in these serials, two episodes The Rescue, and Smith and Jones will be explored. In The
rescue, 1965 directed by Christopher Barry, The Doctor and his companions, Ian and Barbara arrive
on the planet Dido and find a crashed spaceship with the only two survivors of which ... Show more

Barry and Palmer use contrasting cinematic techniques within their episodes to explore and emphasise
the concepts of science fiction. In The Rescue Barry uses a medium shot to film the majority of the
episode and uses various panning shots to set the scene while Palmer uses low shot angles and two
shots to emphasize drama in events. Barry uses a panning shot in the first scene to show the inside of a
crashed spaceship, this is used to set the scene of the episode and introduce technology in the
following scenes. Whereas Palmer uses a medium close up of Martha as she is informed that the rain
is going up . This allows the introduction of science fiction in a more dramatic view. A major feature
that is present in the reboot serial is the addition of music to accompany the scenes. This is not present
in the rescue and resulted in a less intriguing and more informational view of science fiction in the

The Consequences Of Success In Animal Farm, By George Orwell
Success is an iceberg. What you see on the surface is never the full story. Success can also be very
destructive. In the beginning, it seems harmless but the more that is exposed, the more you uncover
how many consequences come with it. In George Orwell s, Animal Farm, He writes about the
struggles endured throughout the rises and falls of the characters in the book. Animal Farm was
always doomed to fail because the absolute power corrupted the pigs, the uneducated animals were
easily manipulated, and the commandments ended up only applying to the lower class animals. As the
pigs began to take over the farm they got power hungry. They would sit and order the other animals
around as Orwell explains in the following quote, The pigs did not actually work, but directed and
supervised the others. With their superior knowledge it was natural that they should assume the
leadership. This was the start of the pigs takeover. They were beginning to rule the whole farm
without regarding any of the other animal s opinions. The pigs assumed that they were more equal
than other animals and began to abuse this. Since Squealer was excellent at speaking in a way in
which everyone would agree, he used this to his advantage. In one of his speeches Squealer said,
Comrades! You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and
privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples.... Day and night we are watching over your
welfare. It is for your sake that we

Jesse Debenport s Poem Hey Daddy
Loss, glumness, and hurt have you read the poem Hey Daddy ? Jesse Debenport expresses extensive
misery because he lost his father, but we were never told what happened to him. I believe his father
left the family, but intends to still have a relationship with his son. First, I believe the father left
because the way Jesse expresses his emotions makes me infer that his father can still return, but it s a
little uncomfortable to go back to a family that he left. In the poem, Hey Daddy (Please Come Back)
By Jesse Debenport, Jesse states with strong desire, I ll try and set aside at least one day a week... So
we can hop in the truck and go four wheeling. This shows me that Jesse s father is still alive because a
dead father can t go four wheeling anywhere. This also tells me that his father can still come back, if
they can still go four wheeling together. Jesse also states, Remind me to give you a hug goodnight I
never want you to feel like I m leaving you out to dry... Again, this tells me his father is still alive and
can t be dead. This also makes me feel like his father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jesse states in the first paragraph, There are a couple of things you missed... Here are a couple of
things I want you to remember. All of these quotes from the poem tell me that his father is still alive.
This quote also makes me believe that it was his first time meeting his father and he wants his father
to remember somethings about him. Also the title tells us his father can come back because he wants
his father to return. People might believe that his father died, but it doesn t add up. Jesse told his father
his feelings and seems to intend for him to read his letter, and there are no mailboxes at gravesites. It
also can t be an emotional letter just to express himself because Jesse talks about asking his father to
spend time with him. This all shows that his father can t be

Depiction Of Iran During The 20th Century
You can be anything you want to be. This is a phrase that many parents and other adults tell children.
However, in some parts of the world, the government places laws that restricts the freedom and rights
of their citizens. So for these citizens, is this saying just a phrase or can it become a reality? An
example of a strict government is the Fundamentalist country Iran during the late 20th century. The
laws of Iran during this period of time were brought about due to a change of government, which was
the result of The Islamic Revolution in 1979. This impacted many Iranian civilians. The most affected
at this time were women. In Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi discusses the atmosphere of Iran during this
time. From Satrapi s view, the readers get to see the changes Iranian women had to go through and
some examples of women who disapproved the laws and those who welcomed them. The late 20th
century saw many social changes, especially for Iranian women. One of the changes involves the
education system. For example, Satrapi once attended a non religious French school that was co ed.
Then after the revolution, the government forced her and other females to go to an all girl school with
an uniform that included wearing a veil. The government believed that males and females should be
separated in schools and that bilingual schools are symbols of capitalism (3 4). Another example is the
way women dressed, especially in public. As mentioned earlier, girls had to wear veils in

Similarities Between Frankenstein And Mary Shelly
Prior to discussing the merit of either edition of Shelley s work relative to the other, I believe it is
essential to qualify the argument with an acknowledgement that both are multi dimensional works that
interweave criticisms of society, politics.... into a highly compelling story. That is, both are excellent
works that contain subjective elements that can be interpreted in numerous ways. The work of literary
critics such as Mary Poovey, Anne Mellor, Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar ostensibly reanimated
discussion over the significance of Frankenstein, and consequently Mary Shelley, that may have well
never occurred otherwise. Furthermore, their work illuminates many previously ignored facets of
Frankenstein, that hold significance not only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poovey attributes this concept to imagination, and innate desire. Had Victor not been emboldened to
play creator, the Creature would not exist. Yet in this argument, Poovey is conceding that society does
not have a place for the Byronic hero, the Creature in this instance, that does not meet aesthetic
standards. Had the Creature been accepted by Victor, the De Laceys or society in general, he would
never have followed the path of destruction. This recognition is embittered by the Creature s capacity
for emotional eloquence exhibited in his monologues in the Alps: Everywhere I see bliss, from which I
alone am irrevocably excluded. I am benevolent and good; misery made me a fiend (Shelley P. 77 8).
The Creature s helplessness, and society s role in his rejection, is further emphasized in his subsequent
narration. The reader learns of the Creature s desperate desire for companionship first from Victor, and
subsequently from the De Laceys. Neither Victor, nor the De Laceys, can overcome the Creature s
inhuman form. While they are not blameless in the rejection of the Creature, they are indicative of
society s inability to accept the otherness embodied by the Creature. In the revised edition, this
emphasis is exacerbated by the reader s willingness to forgive

The American Song Star-Spangled Banner
As a music lover since a young age, the incentives as to why artists created music have always been
intriguing to me. The time period and events that took place play a major part in the creative process
of music. This essay will consist of information from the early 18th century to the late 20th century. It
is known that culture reflects the happenings within a society. Culture is what helps shine light on
social situations which lets one know how to react or understand that society s cultural norms. Music
reflects the culture of a society. It gives insight of history, values, norms, emotions, and the mentality
of a society. Therefore, broad inquiries may arise such as: What was taking place during these time

  • 2. Essay on The Labour Government as The Creator Of The... The Labour Government as The Creator Of The Welfare State A Welfare State is a system in which the government undertakes responsibility for the well being of its population, through unemployment insurance, old age pensions and other social security measures. In order to achieve this the Labour Government of 1945 51 introduced a number of reforms, including the National Insurance Act of 1946 and the Education Act. They also managed to achieve full employment, a target never met before in Britain. However, they are not the only reason for the arrival of the Welfare State. The Liberal Government of 1906 14 also deserves some credit, as well as the coalition government formed during World War Two, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Labour took the idea they produced three pieces of legislation. These were the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act of 1946, the National Insurance Act of 1946 and the National Assistance Act of 1948. The National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act made injuries sustained in the work place a public matter and set up an insurance scheme, where the worker, employer and the state paid money weekly, providing insurance against injury. The National Insurance Act provided, as suggested by Beveridge, a range of benefits to cover the person from birth until death. The National Assistance Act provided further cover for those who were disabled, old aged, sick or of any other special needs, acting as a safety net. The problem with this, however, was that benefits were not set high enough and so National Assistance boards were flooded with applications for extra benefit, creating great strain on the available funds. To deal with the problem of disease Labour provided the National Health Service. This was completely thought up by them and was very successful. It provided free medical assistance of any kind, including eye care, dental care, hearing facilities, specialists and general practitioners. It is arguably the greatest single achievement in the story of the Welfare State. Ignorance was dealt with through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On The Art Of Camille Corot When I first saw this painting done by Camille Corot, I was in awe. It was one of the many beautiful paintings that I saw on my first trip to the Fine Arts Museum of Houston. The painting looks almost dreamlike and soft, which amazed me on how a painter could create an art piece as such. This piece is called Orpheus Leading Eurydice from the Underworld, by Camille Corot, French, 1861, the medium is oil on canvas. I was immediately attracted to this art piece because of the earthy and naturalistic colors used, and how the landscape seems almost hazy. This enchanting painting tells the tragic Greek myth of Orpheus, the Greek god of music, saving his wife, Eurydice, from Hades, God of the Underworld. Orpheus absentmindedly breaks the terms of ... This firm resolve will stop me forming any serious attachments. That is to say, I shall not get married . I like the softness of how Corot painted this art piece. The painting, to me, looks simple yet topographical, due to the trees and bushes painted. What I did not like about this piece is the way he depicted the Underworld. The Underworld is said to be very dark and gloomy, due to all the dead spirits living there, but Corot paints it with light and lush, making it look anything but eerie. He uses Time and motion by showing Orpheus legs in a walking position, whilst holding Eurydice arm, leading her out of the Hades Underworld. Also, the texture of the trees and bushes have a realistic topographical and layered appearance with shades of blacks and browns. Since Corot is a landscape painter, he often uses atmospheric perspective to create the illusion of depth. He shows the spirits mourning their death in the background with shades of cool tones and uses light colors, while emphasizing Eurydice and Orpheus in the foreground with more deep and darker colors. Another element I ve seen in Corot s painting is his use of space, he shows Orpheus and Eurydice on the corner right while the rest of the image is more focused on his beautiful landscape in the background. Additionally, the focal point that immediately caught my eyes attention was the spirits depicted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Irene was stuck in the middle and all her insecurities got to her in the end. She enjoyed the thrill of being able to see the world of two sides in a way white and black. • 6. Examples Of Hegemonic Masculinity Writing Assignment 5 In gender studies, hegemonic masculinity is the norms and values upheld as an ideal for all males. The concept of hegemonic masculinity was proposed first from a field study in Australian high schools of social inequality by Kessler. (Kessler et al. 1982) The concept was later made popular by sociologist R.W. Connell. All men are upheld to the image of being the strongest and most aggressive, and to hold the power over women and other men. What do males have that lead them to commit more crime? That question has been noted for years, but no one can pinpoint the exact answer. Some sociologist denote masculinity to the answer of the previous question. From a young age, men are perfectly characterized as someone who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By being married, Beckham is observed to be a real man. Placing someone like Beckham in a Super Bowl commercial, unlike an ordinary man, bring a whole new meaning to today s society. An eye opening example of movies that display hegemonic masculinity are Disney movies. Considering the male roles in The Lion King, Beauty in the Beast, and the Little Mermaid, the male roles have always come to the rescue to save the princess. Quotes From The Pianist To: Roman Polanski, Director From: Date: February 28, 2017 Subject: The Pianist Notes and Guidelines It is extremely important to take note that the memoir you are about to portray is one of the most simplistically beautiful and brutal pieces of literature ever written on the Holocaust. It is your job to continue this brave act of defiance, to retell Wladyslaw Wladek Szpilman s story to a wider, more modern audience than ever before. As Wolf Biermann explains in the epilogue, this memoir is so difficult to swallow that the Eastern European audience of 1946 were unable to tolerate such an authentic and unflinching view of the horror they had lived through, causing the memoir to not be published again until fifty years later. The film needs to offer the same stark reality that Szpilman selflessly gives to the reader. This film cannot be another Hollywood feel good film. His plain character is very characteristic for the british crime fictions. This is aimed, towards keeping the puzzle in the center of attention. Poirot would never engage in violence, instead he uses his famous little grey cells to solve the puzzles. Poirot does not believe in coincidences, which is seen several times in the film. Even though he is little, he stands tall. From start to finish Poirot is teaching Hastings about being a detective, and how to catch the real clues. This is very common in crime fiction, and it tends to happen quite often in crime novels and films. This also happens in the Sherlock Holmes novels/films, where Sherlock Holmes is teaching Dr. Watson how to think, and how to observe. Poirot is very smart and guileful, in the way he plays tricks on the murdered peoples relatives. He is a man of pride and dignity, and in his own eyes he is the best detective in the world. • 13. The Communist Manifesto And The Revolution Part B #2: The Communist Manifesto and the Revolution A revolution generally thought of as a change from the norm. According to Christopher Hill the definition of a revolution is a complete over throw of the established government in any country or state by those who have been previously subjected to it . Another way to think about a revolution is as an uprising caused by a group of individuals towards another group due to unfair conditions or treatment. The Communism Manifesto, written by Karl Marx, was a document written for the general public that described communism and promoted the oppressed individuals to change societal social class. I will argue that the Communism Manifesto was a document that was meant to start a revolution. In society the oppressors, the bourgeoisie, had complete control over the government, working condition, as well as the lives of the oppressed middle and lower class, the proletariats. If the proletariats wanted to see a change in the inequality caused by the class system and regain power then it is the essential that the proletariats overthrow the existing power. According to the Manifesto the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle, in other words class conflict has occurred throughout history, and will continue to occur. A revolution will lead history towards its final destination. The proletariats are the group of people, according to the Communist Manifesto, that will eventually over throw the ... And the earth was without forme, and voyd, and darknesse was vpon the face of the deepe: and the spirit of God mooued vpon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. (Genesis 1 3) So begins the first book of the Christian Old Testament, the Hebrew Torah, one of the most recognizable texts in history. At least, the text begins the King James Bible in 1611, itself arguably the most influential version or translation of the Bible today. But this is not the original text. Surprisingly, the original scripture was not written in Early Modern English in the 17th century in the British Isles, but in Hebrew and possibly Aramaic, while the New Testament was written in Koine Greek. In fact, the original Hebrew looked nothing like our Latin script of today. Hebrew is a Semitic language, and therefore an Afroasiatic one, while English is Indo European, and you would be hard pressed to find someone who believes that the two fall into a larger, connected language family besides some Indian nationalists who believe that all languages are derived from Sanskrit, or Tamil. And although there is much borrowing and exchanging of roots and words, modern English speakers have no mutual intelligibility with Hebrew. As Ralph Waldo Emerson famously said in his Letters and Social Aims, Language is a city to the building of which every human has brought a stone. It s a nice concept, and it would be hard ... But nobody no, nobody can make it out here alone. , Angelou compares our hearts to stone and even though we may have doctors to cure us, we will always be selfish in our own way making it troublesome for us to get out of the habit of thinking about ourselves. This stanza is truthful in its own right, we humans are selfish due to greed and when Angelou uses the phrases along the lines of we can t make it out here alone , it just shows that we have no one to blame but ourselves if certain situations end up atrocious. To prove my point more, in the second to the last stanza she writes, The wind is gonna blow, the race of man is suffering , this shows that Angelou saw the change in people, that we cause chaos, that we drive not only ourselves but others mad causing everyone to be self absorbed. Alone is a powerful poem that makes people reflect on themselves and their actions. Even though Angelou wrote about anguished poems like Alone and Caged Bird, she did however write about equality and confidence. This poem that is about equality is Human Family. • 18. Hezekiah Essay Throughout the Old Testament, several kings rose to the throne of Israel and Judah. These kings were known for their wickedness in the eyes of the Lord, many of whom permanently damaged their kingdoms. Possibly the only king who displayed no such traits was Hezekiah. Hezekiah bowed to the Lord in all things and upheld all his statutes. It is for this reason he is righteous. Therefore, from Hezekiah s fear in God, his constant communication and faith, and his reliance on only the LORD in Judah, God declares him to be an exceedingly righteous King. Likely the most obvious factor of Hezekiah s righteousness is obedience and conformance to God s laws. These attributes are exhibited not of fear of consequence, but honor and love. Hezekiah demonstrates this in a an overruling sense, in some cases just in general upholding of the law of Moses, and in others, direct obedience to God s commandments. His fear in the Lord was so complete, it is explicitly stated in 2 Kings 18:6. The question is no longer was he obedient, but instead, How does his obedience make him righteous. As many know, these two men are the leading antagonist and protagonist of the immensely popular franchise, Star Wars. Through methods of fear and intimidation, Vader fabricates a mega weapon capable of destroying entire planets known as the Death Star. Luke Skywalker was excellent at this. He had a unique ability to rally people from hundreds of different worlds for the single cause of ending Imperial Oppression. One of his primary mission statements is to believe in your cause. According to Bass (1990), this method inspires people to have a passion for what they do, which usually leads to the job being done better and more thoroughly. This type of leadership also adds a sense of independence to the follower. They will begin to think and act on their own, progressively turning into a leader of their own followers. Darth Vader on the other hand, uses the transactional approach by inspiring by means of rewards and punishment. If a Stormtrooper, which is one of the empire s soldiers, doesn t complete his orders, then Vader very well might put him to death. If he does perform his duty, then he will get the reward of continuing his life. This is obviously an extreme example of transactional leadership, but the idea of it stays true to goal based ... Rent control is a government control of the amounts charged for rented housing (Dictionary.com). It regulates the maximum rent price, how much rent can go up, and what options are available to tenant who love in rental properties that need repairs (Apartment Ratings). The goal of rent control is to make affordable housing available for lower income residents (Ink Niche Insight + Analysis). Rent control limits the amount a landlord can freely increase rent. A landlord can only raise rent once a year and the percentage of increase is not very high (Enlighten Me). This helps the tenant ease having their rent go up more quickly than their income. Tenants are protected from being evicted. The landlords of apartments and houses saw rent go up and the tenants stayed, so they tried to find a way to evict the tenants in order to raise the rent for the next tenant. Now, cities with rent control have regulations that require a long complicated process to evict a tenant. For a landlord, rent control can be a better deal to their tenant, increasing them to be motivated to hold on to where they are living. • 24. The Effect Of Riluzole On Treating Motor Neuron Disease... 6.10 Discussion Neuroprotective activity of riluzole is already reported in the literature. At present, it is the only available successful drug for treating motor neuron disease like ALS. But its poor aqueous solubility, short half life with some side effects at higher concentration (as it is recommended twice or thrice a day for long time) restricted its use as a neuroprotective agent (Borderias Clau, 2006; Cheah, 2010). In the present study, we have evaluated the neuroprotective activity of nanoriluzole (NR) for treating one of the most severe brain diseases at a quite low dose using nanocarrier. MCAO is one the best model for ischemic stroke as it mimic most of the feature of natural brain stroke (Longa, 1989; Heurteaux, 2006; Vaibhav, 2013). Ischemia was induced in rats through MCAO model for 1 hr followed by a reperfusion period of 24 hrs and NR was given intraperitonally after 1 hr of ischemia induction. Animals were evaluated for their behavior study and sacrificed to remove the brain for analysing various related parameters like infarct, biochemical, histopathology and immunohistochemical study. It is very well demonstrated that MCAO results in the injury to striatum, cortex and hippocampus region depending upon the time of occlusion of MCA and reperfusion period (Longa, 1989; Nagasawa, 1989; Heurteaux, 2006). An anonymous world renowned graffiti artist who goes by Banksy places traditional paintings in public places altered to send an iconoclastic message about society and government. In this image he depicts a traditional figure of Jesus dying on the cross, but in his hands can be found shopping bags full of presents and candy. Its entire scope wanes away until soon enough, any salvation God intended Jesus death to bestow upon the people will be lost while consumerism and monetary concernment will take control. The ways Banksy uses this skewed image of Jesus on the cross suggests that he believes society needs to break away from strongly valuing consumerism the way it does currently. The rhetor utilizes this image to depict what he believes society has become, and how drastically different it is from what God envisioned. In this particular image, Banksy has included Jesus to further depict his anti consumerism views, believing that Jesus never intended Christians to value tangible objects. The rhetor gains support because he is not attacking society as a whole or blaming anyone in particular. By including Jesus in a sense he is defending religion whom so many regard so highly. By defining his position as defensive of God rather than attacking what society has become people are forced to re evaluate what they value most. The rhetor s suggested stance on the issue and the way he presents the controversial religious topic rallies support and acknowledgment of society s faults rather than denial and outrage. • 29. The Consequences Of Success In Animal Farm, By George Orwell Success is an iceberg. What you see on the surface is never the full story. Success can also be very destructive. In the beginning, it seems harmless but the more that is exposed, the more you uncover how many consequences come with it. In George Orwell s, Animal Farm, He writes about the struggles endured throughout the rises and falls of the characters in the book. Animal Farm was always doomed to fail because the absolute power corrupted the pigs, the uneducated animals were easily manipulated, and the commandments ended up only applying to the lower class animals. As the pigs began to take over the farm they got power hungry. They would sit and order the other animals around as Orwell explains in the following quote, The pigs did not actually work, but directed and supervised the others. With their superior knowledge it was natural that they should assume the leadership. This was the start of the pigs takeover. They were beginning to rule the whole farm without regarding any of the other animal s opinions. The pigs assumed that they were more equal than other animals and began to abuse this. Since Squealer was excellent at speaking in a way in which everyone would agree, he used this to his advantage. In one of his speeches Squealer said, Comrades! However, in some parts of the world, the government places laws that restricts the freedom and rights of their citizens. So for these citizens, is this saying just a phrase or can it become a reality? An example of a strict government is the Fundamentalist country Iran during the late 20th century. The laws of Iran during this period of time were brought about due to a change of government, which was the result of The Islamic Revolution in 1979. This impacted many Iranian civilians. The most affected at this time were women. In Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi discusses the atmosphere of Iran during this time. From Satrapi s view, the readers get to see the changes Iranian women had to go through and some examples of women who disapproved the laws and those who welcomed them. The late 20th century saw many social changes, especially for Iranian women. One of the changes involves the education system. For example, Satrapi once attended a non religious French school that was co ed. Then after the revolution, the government forced her and other females to go to an all girl school with an uniform that included wearing a veil. Yet in this argument, Poovey is conceding that society does not have a place for the Byronic hero, the Creature in this instance, that does not meet aesthetic standards. Had the Creature been accepted by Victor, the De Laceys or society in general, he would never have followed the path of destruction. This recognition is embittered by the Creature s capacity for emotional eloquence exhibited in his monologues in the Alps: Everywhere I see bliss, from which I alone am irrevocably excluded. I am benevolent and good; misery made me a fiend (Shelley P. 77 8). The Creature s helplessness, and society s role in his rejection, is further emphasized in his subsequent narration. The reader learns of the Creature s desperate desire for companionship first from Victor, and subsequently from the De Laceys. Neither Victor, nor the De Laceys, can overcome the Creature s inhuman form.
