2. Critical Discourse Analysis ( Cda )
Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) is an interdisciplinary approach, which has been further developed
on the basis of Discourse Analysis (DA) since 1970s. The insights have been expanded into a broader
range of social, cultural, psychological and political practices. It is regarded as the textual study
aiming to elucidate the abuses of power residing in the texts by analyzing linguistic/semiotic remarks
in accordance with the existing (social, political, cultural, etc.) contexts in which those texts circulate
(Wodak: 2001, 1 2; Fairclough: 1995; Huckin, Andrus, and Clary Lemon: 2012, 107; Rashidi and
Souzandehfar: 2010, 56; Economou: 2009, 42). As many linguists and scholars engagement with the
study of CDA, there already has been several schools or genres with their representative figures.
Although the history and development of CDA study is still a bit premature and there is no distinct
framework of wide recogonition, according to van Dijk (2007), there are mainly four approaches to it:
1) the Critical Linguistics (CL) developed by Fowler et al. (1979; 1991; 1996), Kress (1985);
sociocultural/socio semiotic approach proposed by Fairclough (1985; 1988; 1989; 1992; 1995; 2003;
2006); discourse historical created by Wodak (1996, 2001) and Wodak et al. (1999); and
sociocognitive approach introduced by van Dijk (1998, 2001, 2002) (Rashidi, Souzandehfar: 2010, 56

When Looking at a well know published magazine like Vogue, Glamour, and Top Model, they all
show beautiful women with extraordinary beauty and amazing sense of style and fashion. But when
looking at the models, do they really resemble the average women reading these magazines that the
ads and articles are intended for? Women and men are going through great lengths hurting themselves
to achieve such figures that the magazines show as beautiful. These people suffer from eating

was common and a problem they struggle with. 23 dancers at the studio took the survey. The survey
was broken down asking question on diet habits, and other eating disorder symptoms. 22 said that they
constantly think about weight and shape. 18 of the dancers are afraid of weight gain. 11 said that they
have dieted to lose weight. 4 said they have vomited or have taken diet pills to get rid of weight. 20

and should be made aware. A person doesn t just get this disorder. An eating disorder builds after an

4. What Is The Theme Of Mental Cases By Wilfred Owen
Wilfred Owen s Mental Cases offers a rather distinct characterization of World War I soldiers after
their participation in the battle. While they are usually portrayed as the brave, handsome and trained
heroes of a nation, in this poem the reader confronts the reality of the soldiers atrocious mental state as
they returned home filled with terror and nightmares of the battlefield. The poet s main objective of
presenting the characterization that will be further explained is to shock the reader with the graphic
and brutal scenes the soldiers had to experience during combat and expose the physical and mental
consequences of war, highlighting the destruction and terror it brought to humanity. As to the why of
this purpose, Owen, having experience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the phrase back into their brain refers once again to the memories coming back and
tormenting the abandoned men, as well as the affirmation that dawn bleeds afresh, showing that the
soldiers are not able to heal and no matter how much time passes, they still remember the scenes of
war freshly. In addition to this, the onomatopoeias used in the last four verses: plucking, picking,
snatching and pawing, construct an image of the men crawling helplessly and grasping desperately
with their animalistic claws at a society that has turned their backs to them. This connects back to
Owen s purpose of getting society s attention and comprehension of the mentally injured men so they
can help them. In this same stanza, a visual imagery that goes back to the idea of the living death of
the first stanza is introduced with the words set smiling corpses. Corpses refers directly to the skeletal
and abdominal figures described in the beginning, but with the addition of the adjective set smiling ,
not only is an oxymoron built, but it also shows the taunting and dismal stare of men that suffer from
shell shock, reinforcing again the consequences of

5. Effects Of Supply And Demand On Teachers Salaries
Claire Skaggs

2 May 2015
Effects of Supply and Demand on Teachers Salaries Supply and Demand has a major effect on our
economy. It effects teacher s salaries more than people think. Salaries are determined by the market
forces of supply and demand. Today, schools try to focus on obtaining teachers who have a strong
impact on student s learning abilities. Everyone assumes that teachers are just one group that has the
same subject specialties, years of experience, and the same education credentials. People also assume
that all teachers are paid the same salary and that everyone agrees how to identify an effective teacher.
These assumptions are unrealistic but helpful in explaining further the concepts of ... Show more

A higher number of effective teachers are willing to provide their skills to school districts if the wage
is high than if it is low. Meaning that effective teachers are willing to work for school districts that
have higher paying salaries, even if the working conditions are poor. Along with demand, a change in
supply, other than wages, will shift the supply of teachers outward or inward. Outward will mean that
more teachers are willing to work for a school district at any wage. An inward shift means that fewer
teachers are willing to work at any wage. Increasing wages that effective teachers can command in
another occupation, means that any given wage, fewer teachers will be willing to provide their
teaching service. The labor market for teachers will be in equilibrium when the number of effective
teachers who are willing to teach is exactly equal to the number of teachers the school district is
willing to employ. Also, there is equilibrium when the quantity supplied is equal to the quantity
demanded at a single wage. This is what economists call the market clearing range. Some teachers are
willing to work at wages set below the market clearing wage. This creates a problem because there are
not enough effective teachers willing to work under the market clearing price to meet the quantity
demanded at that wage. There are however, effective teachers whose decisions of employment are
based on other things, not just wage. They are not throwing out the financial obligations,

Evil Acts: The Killing of Star s Reputations
As most can remember those days when the family would joyfully gather around and absorb television

tolerance levels which soundly relate to commitment. Moreover, stars like Bill Cosby, Richard Pryor,
Eddie Murphy, and sports stars (i.e., O.J. Simpson) stain our memories with joy, laughter, and

Are they sent by God to entertain us? According to sources, their lives have been adversely affected by

7. Goya And Picasso Comparison
Pablo Picasso and Goya were both very famous artists and were part of the cubist movement. They
both have a very different style of painting but they do have similarities in some of their paintings. For
example, Picasso s Guernica and Goya s Third of May are similar in ways. The Guernica is probably
Pablo Picasso s most famous work. It is a painting that expresses his most influential political
statements. It is about his personal reaction to the Nazi s casual bombing practice on the Basque town
of Guernica during the Spanish civil war. The Guernica shows the tragedies of war and the suffering it
inflicts upon individuals, particularly innocent civilians. This work has gained a monumental status,

There is death all over the painting and when you focus on a small part of the massive painting, you

make out, each one has a different story behind it for example on the far left is a woman with her head
titled back, screaming in pain and misery while holding the lifeless body of her dead child. This is said
to be one of the most disturbing and memorable images in the painting. To the right of that figure is
the head of a large white bull, which is the only unharmed and calm figure from the chaos of figures.
Beneath the mother holding her died child is a dead/wounded man with his arm cut off and his other
arm appears to hold a knife. The figure only has his head and arms visible; the rest of his body is
overlapped by the different figures. In the middle, there is scared horse standing with his mouth open
screaming in pain because a sword cuts up the whole right side of his body. On the right side of the
painting, there are three more different women. One woman who is looking up at a cube thing hanging
from the ceiling at the top of the painting. Another women is leaning out of the window of a burning
house, her long extended arm holding a lamp, while the third woman appears trapped in the burning
building, screaming in fear and horror (Khan). All of the women s faces show signs of pain and agony.

8. Frank Gehry Vs Postmodern Architecture
American postmodern architecture has more focus on culture, the specific theme of that moment, but
the problem of formalization started to show up. Deconstructivism, a critical architectural movement
in the postmodern age, usually has nice control on the structural surface as the building s skin and use
the randomly geometric shapes to show the twisting architectural elements.
Frank Gehry is a typical post modernism and deconstructivism architect, Americans like to call him
another Frank because of Frank Lloyd Wright who was famous as a modernism architect. And he did
not like to be constantly compared with Wright, emphasizing their differences. Under the influence of
deconstructivism, a lot of Frank Gehry s design shows full comprehension of the structures and the
principle of designing by using the twisted shapes and some uncovered structure form. In this passage,
I will analyze the influences of Frank Gehry s design; the extent of influence that he got from Frank
Lloyd Wright, and compare and contrast their works by using Frank Gehry s house and Jacob s house
by Frank Lloyd Wright
Frank Wright used colors that are often found in nature. He used earthy tones, the materials used in his
designs include brick, clay, concrete, rocks, and wood. With a symmetric style, he used straight lines
and familiar shapes for different design elements. The Elam home in Austin, Minnesota and Jacob s
house are good examples. Compared with Wright s design, Frank Gehry usually used vibrant colors
such as silver, bright blue, orange, and red. Stainless steel was used in the majority of his design, and
he still used other materials like brick and concrete as well. Different with Wright, Gehry used curvy
lines and other shapes in his design work. The Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis, Minnesota
skillfully used curves which is different than Gehry s own house to which used angled lines and
pieced triangle shapes, shows the influence he got from deconstructivism In Gehry s house, he used
big openings, unique wall surfaces and light conditions in a large room or visible framework, they all
showing the postmodern style and making relationships between architecture and its origin. Gehry
tried to make a very tough sculptural

On line marketing: the impacts of after sales service Recent years have witnessed the increasing
demands of consumers, the high product quality cannot be the only element for satisfying consumers
but the after sale service gradually dominants the purchasing psychology. In general, the after sales
service is one of the critical success factors for enhancing the consumer satisfaction, which is
acknowledged by Asugman,G.et al.(1997) to some extent. More specifically, the further study from
Smith (1998) emphasizes that the purchase intentions of the consumers is strongly influenced by the
customer satisfaction about the ancillary services. For the purpose of this essay, after sale service is

Therefore, the effect of after sales service to some extent will increase the pressure of the employee to
devote themselves to their sales work, which in reverse could decrease the sales volume as well as the
interests in the company. However, it has to be acknowledged that the after sales service is conducted
to the success of on line market as a result of the positive impact on the company as well as the
consumer. One of the contentions in favor of that assertion is that the customer satisfaction must be
the primary goal of the organization for success and growth, then after sales service is the bridge for
the employee to contact with customers for obtaining the feedback and satisfaction (Pertson and
Willson,1992) . What s more, the customer oriented on line market has to satisfy their customers
demands, thus the systematic after sales management could act as an effective approach. Loveman
(1998) maintain that the customer satisfaction has an intimate relation with the loyalty of the
consumer and financial stability of the firm. Consequently, the employees will be stimulated by the
high evaluated feedback of customers to make more contribution to the company. That is to say, the
high satisfaction can help the organization keep the existed customer and obtain much more new
customers, which formulates a customer purchasing recycle. Hence, the impact of after sales service in
the online market should be

Visionary and Ethical Leadership of General Curtis LeMay
It s late afternoon on March 9th, 1945. The sun was shining brightly through a scattered deck of
clouds dotting the sky and there was a refreshing northeasterly breeze coming off the surrounding
waters. General Curtis LeMay is standing in the thick tropical air of Northwest Field on the small
Pacific island of Guam. He watches as over three hundred B 29 Superfortress bombers launch
northward towards Tokyo where they will use new and unproven tactics for delivering the most
devastating firebombing campaign in history. Through General LeMay s vision and innovation he

enabled untold successes but at what cost to American values and law?
My purpose is to show that General LeMay was a tremendous visionary leader although he made
unethical choices and that I have been able to see times in my life where principles of his actions
resonated with me. LeMay was a visionary leader due to his ability to adapt and win current wars
while keeping the foresight to look ahead at what was needed to shape the Air Force to deter or win

Walking is a proven exercise that carries a wealth of benefits. However, if you want to up the ante a
little bit and gain more benefits from your walking regimen, you can do interval walking. This is a
type of walking exercise where you walk at a steady pace and then like interval training, do short
bursts of aerobic activity combined with periods of rest and recovery.
For example, if you are planning to do brisk walking for 30 minutes, you can speed up the pace by
jogging for about two to three minutes every five minute intervals. If you are on the treadmill, do the
same thing by breaking into a run or getting off the equipment and doing jumping jacks. The same
thing can be done when you are power walking two minutes of slow jogging every five minutes. You
can adjust the time intervals depending on your fitness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You will definitely lose weight faster if you break out of your plateau by modifying your walking
workouts this way.
Another benefit if you interval walk is increased stamina and endurance due to a strengthened
cardiovascular system. Regular walking, by itself, already reduces your risk of high blood pressure,
type 2 diabetes and heart attack. It lowers your cholesterol and blood sugar levels and protects you
from kidney diseases and the development of cancers. When you interval walk, you enhance your
cardiovascular capacity and as a result are able to reap these benefits even if you only do the exercise
in a much shorter period than what your regular walking regimen would actually take.
Since a little high impact routine is included in interval walking, make sure that you consult with your
doctor before adding this to your workout repertoire if you have a heart or some other medical
condition. Also, wear comfortable clothing and well fitting shoes before you go out to walk. Don t

13. Corporal Punishment Should Be Illegal
Corporal punishment should be illegal at home. Although, others might disagree with the way a child
should be punished. Many adults, researcher, psychiatrist, doctors, parents, and teens have negative
comments on corporal punishment. Today, all around the world we see parents discipline their kids in
many forms of ways like spanking and multiple people see it as child abuse. Before beginning this
controversial debate, we should distinguish the difference between child abuse and corporal
punishment. Child abuse is when a parent or a caregiver fails to act upon action like injury, death, and
emotional abuse combined with physical abuse. There are many forms of maltreatment, which
includes neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, exploitation and emotional abuse. Corporal punishment
is when a parent or legal guardians causes physical pain or discomfort to a child due to misbehaving.
Examples include spanking or slapping the child with an open hand or striking with an implement
such as a belt, slipper, cane, hairbrush or paddle, and can also include shaking, pinching, forced
ingestion of substances, or forcing children to stay in uncomfortable positions. In fact, parents often
take it too far when it comes to punishing their child, which soon leads to a bigger issue. Corporal
punishment has been around since the Middle age like at school, home, and for when a person
convicted a crime. Today, some schools have banned corporal punishment like in Alaska, California,
Connecticut, Delaware, etc., because researcher has shown that corporal punishment can cause
students more harm and paying less attention in school. What are others opinion about corporal
punishment? One parent said, They d been spanked as a child, and they turned out pretty good
(Polhemus, Betsy, et al.Is spanking an effective punishment). Scott Morefield who is a blog editor for
Raising Godly Children argues that, That spanking and abuse are not synonymous and that corporal
punishment has been used by parents throughout civilization. He also notes that support for physical
discipline can be found in the Bible (Morefield, Scott. Parents Should Have the Right to Properly
Discipline their Children ). However, many disagree that using physical

16. The Roles Of Women In The Roaring 20 s
Women in the Roaring 20 s Women s fashion was a social controversy in the 1920 s. This controversy
was influenced by women s clothing, swimwear, hairstyles, makeup, and attitude alone. This attire and
new found character traits added a certain attitude and confidence to these women, starting what
would eventually be remembered as a revolution.
Before the 1920 s, women s attire was considered fairly modern. Women would have worn clothing
with more of a silhouette than clothing that was loose and flowy. The length of their dresses never
revealed more of their leg than just their ankle. Women received bad reputations when showing their
knees or even their calfs. Women in the 1920 s also had a different ideal figure than most women do
today. The body types women wanted to achieve also transformed into a more feminine look. This
look consisted of low bust lines, higher hems lines, and showing off more curves than ever before.
These women became unapologetically fearless. However, none of these changes happened over
night. It took a strong influence from something or someone in order acquire the changes that all
women wanted to have. The only problem was that

17. Essay On Harry Houdini
Currently, some people are curious about how Harry Houdini passed away. Was his death natural, or
did someone want him dead? One possibility of Harry Houdini s death is that he simply got punched
in the stomach. Eric Jill from Snopes writes,
Houdini was fond of explaining to his fans that by tightening his abdominal muscles he could
withstand the hardest punches to the midsection a man could deliver, and one day a college student
[punched Harry.] The stomach punches caught Houdini by surprise before he had time to prepare
himself, however, resulting in a trauma that ruptured his appendix and ultimately caused his death a
few weeks later (Jill 1).
According to Snopes, the article states that Houdini was a accident prone person and often refused
medical assistance. Before being punched, Harry had a broken ankle and did not get hospitalized.
After getting punched, he soon had a fever and severe stomach pains. Soon, it was apparent Harry was
not well and he later got rushed to the hospital. The surgeons found Harry had a ruptured appendix
and suffering from periodontitis (A disease caused by a ruptured appendix). Sadly, by the time they
removed the appendix it was too late and Harry passed away at October 31, 1926, the day of
Halloween. Is his death date coincidental?

18. Persuasive Essay On Clean Water
A watershed is the area of land where all of the water that falls in it drains off or goes to a common
outlet (USGS, 2016). Unknown to many, a watershed could be as small as a footprint, but also as large
as a lake. The word watershed is interchangeable with drainage basins or catchment (USGS, 2016).
Watersheds are important because it controls the flow of rivers and the water that gets to a certain
place and this is how we get our fresh water. If the watershed is ruined or destroyed, then the price of
water and clean water will then get worse, the prices will become higher to fix damages and the water
could be unsafe to drink. When I say ruined it means that water flow and clean rivers will change path
or dry up. Since the major issue is that the bodies of water emptying into our watershed are polluted,
the plan we have come up with is to make the rivers clean by putting nets up and down the major
rivers in Colorado and collecting garbage. To be specific, a problem faced by our watershed t is the
buildup of plastics and Styrofoam. In fact, out of 50 billion bottles sold every year only 20% are
recycled (Scholtus, 2009). This number is stunning due to the recycling programs we have and all the
proper ways to get rid of plastic water bottles (Scholtus 2009). With the excess amount of plastics and
Styrofoam that end up in our watershed, areas might end up getting clogged and thus changing the
path of a stream. Not to mention, such change in the flow of water is also

Potassium is an essential but volatile element that is needed by the human body to regulate muscular
contractions. Although most of us do not get enough potassium in our diets, it is important to note that
potassium in its pure form is extremely reactive. Therefore, this element is usually used in one of its
compound forms such as saltpeter or potash.
Potassium chloride is considered a double edged sword. Small doses can be used to treat deficiencies,
but large doses can stop the heart. For this reason, it has been used in lethal injections, both legal and

People began buying things such as cars and appliances on credit. Many people earned less money
than needed to live a comfortable lifestyle. Businesses were letting people with lower incomes buy
things on credit. Unfortunately the stocks rose faster than the value of the companies they represented.
When the stock market collapsed, these people did not have the money to pay back what they owed.
This resulted in financial ruin. Before the stock market crash investors traded about sixteen million
shares on the New York stock exchange each day. After Black Tuesday , billions of dollars were lost
wiping out thousands of investors. Had most of those investors sold their stock the day before the

United States. The nations banking system was in trouble. In the 1920 s thousands of new banks were

21. Essay Raphael s Portrait Leo X with Cardinals Guilio de ...
In Nelson Minnich s religious interpretation of Raphael s famous portrait of Pope Leo X, Minnich first
begins with the very basics of the portrait; what is contained within its canvas and why it is there.
From small clues such as these, he is able to lay the foundation for which theories and conclusions can
be based. He first points out the location of the figures in the painting. Minnich believes that they are
in a large room, seated before a green cloth on the wall, or cloth of honor. There is some speculation,
however, as to exactly where this room is located. Several theorists, as well as he, believe that the
location is a room in the Vatican, perhaps the library. He points out that there is reflection of a window

Leo would have needed the glass to read the next item on the table, his bible. The bible is obviously
not an unlikely item, being that it is a portrait of a pope, but it is where the bible is opened to that is of
importance; St. John s Gospel. Minnich tells us that Leo s first baptismal name was Giovanni, a name
that came from this gospel. After inspecting the painting for obvious clues and symbols, Minnich is
ready to discuss the possible reasons for the paintings existence. The first being the obvious, that it is
merely a papal state portrait. He points out several reasons that this could be a wrong assumption. The
painting was kept in Florence and not in Rome, like most papal portraits. It was much smaller than an
average state portrait. And the most obvious objection was that there were three people present in the
painting, which is highly unusual for a portrait. Minnich then suggests the possibility that Raphael was
merely painting a family portrait. But then he quickly points out that no other of Leo s relatives was
involved. He also points out that the items involved, a bell, the bible, are not usually in state portraits.
With the state portrait theory clearly discredited, Minnich tells readers of the theory that the painting is
simply an occasional piece, saying that it was painted just to be displayed at the wedding of the
Medici and Valois houses in lieu of the pope and his two relatives not being able to make the
festivities. Minnich states that

when they are freshly recorded. Even if you record it with the most expensive microphone, you would

24. Comparing Porphyria s Lover And When We Two Parted
Porphyria s Lover and When We Two Parted both offer contrasting views on death. Both poets use the
structure and form to present the role of death to convey the loss of their love. Both address their
former love directly in order to create a sense of loss. However, in Porphyria s Lover the death is
physical which creates a sense of lust, whilst When We Two Parted the death is emotional which
creates pain and anguish.
The role of death is presented in both poems by the form and structure. In Porphyria s Lover it is a
dramatic monologue which help understand the feelings of the character and their true motive of
killing Porphyria, whilst When We Two Parted is a retrospective poem implies that the speaker is still

between Lord Byron and Lady Frances is compared to death. The end of their relationship has affected
the speaker, by the behaviour. His sorrow suggests that he s grieving in silence and tears which
suggest the actions similar at a funeral. This shows that the end of a relationship is compared to death
by the actions such as grieving in silence and tears . The bell of death knell suggest that hearing her
name (Lady Frances) emphasises the hatred he has for her. The funeral sound creates a vivid image
confirming the death of his faith in her. The knell also confirms the end of their relationship,
suggesting god has accepted the end of their relationship. The rhyme scheme A/B/A/B is a regular
rhyme scheme which highlights the speakers anguish and pain. The rhyme scheme moves the poem
forward and gives a sense of hope. The role of death is in Porphyria s Lover by enduring her beyond

death of their relationship. In Porphyria s Lover he believes she will love him more when she s dead

parents got divorced, and his mother got full custody of him. He decided to live with his father
because he was the most affected by the divorce. Here is when he started his life as a juvenile
delinquent. As Seal stated the outlaw hero is forced to defy the law or what passes for it by oppressive
and unjust forces or interests (74). There were several reasons that lead Abagnale to choose an outlaw
life. The first reason was that Frank felt frustration seeing his father breaking down spiritually,
economically, and physically. His family meant a lot to him, and he wasn t comfortable with his parent
s separation. He thought that acting like a delinquent and getting into problems will bring his parents
back together again due to the absence of attention, but it never happened. He felt that his happy life
was taken away by his own parents at the time that they decided to separate. The feeling of losing his
family and his happy life obligated Abagnale to start his life as a juvenile delinquent. The second
reason and the most important was that he started to faced life as the way it is, hard, and cruel. When
he decided to get away from home, he had to pay rent, bills, and all of his expenses. He had a job, but

environment for food production. Time and time again, the media captures stories regarding deadly

As the soil becomes more and more polluted with these toxins, it becomes unsustainable. Therefore,
land that would have remained fertile for centuries through the commonsense farming of our
ancestors, is being ruined by farming controlled by big corporations whose sole interest is in
immediate short term profit (Goodall 38). Industrialized livestock farming with thousands of animals
crammed into small factory spaces is responsible for numerous bacterial and viral infections such as
E.coli., Avian bird flu, Mad cow disease, Salmonella, and many more. Therefore, conventional
farmers use antibiotics to keep these animals alive. This over use of antibiotics is causing the creation
of new, resistant strains of deadly diseases that kill people and animals. Disease is actually caused by
the bad practices, shortcuts, and antibiotic resistance. This has the opposite effect of what was
intended and also costs farmers millions of dollars every year instead of saving money. Unfortunately,
conventional agriculture experts recommend these monocultural farming practices in the name of
quick, mass production. Current conventional farming practices are also responsible for many
pollution problems that would not exist otherwise. The land where we live and grow our food, the
water we drink, and the air we breathe are all being contaminated. The large amounts of synthetic
pesticides and fertilizers used on our crops are poisoning the soil, air, and water. Toxic heavy metals

34. Red Giants Research Paper
Nolan Harris
Red Giants
Red giants are dying stars that are in their last part of stellar evolution. Every star will eventually turn
into a red giant over some point in time. Stars turn into red giants when there is no more hydrogen fuel
for the star. Inside of a star, hydrogen goes through a process called nuclear fusion where hydrogen is
getting converted into helium. Nuclear fusion helps create energy for the star so that the force of
gravity isn t crushing the star together. This is also the reason why stars are bright. When the star runs
out of hydrogen to convert into helium, the energy that kept the star from collapsing is now gone.
Gravity then takes over and compresses the star. From this point, the helium atoms are able to

They are very luminous stars that have a relatively cool surface temperature compared to the stars in
the main sequence that have about the same luminosity. Red giants typically have low to intermediate
mass than a regular star, even though they are about 1000 times larger in the red giant phase of stellar
evolution. Red supergiants are known as the biggest stars by radius. The biggest red supergiant is
mentioned as VY Canis Majoris. This star is about 1800 times bigger than our sun. Although there are
plenty of red giants in space, none of them are that close to us. The closest red giant is Gamma Crucis
(88 light years away).3
We do not have to worry about the world ending due to the sun becoming a red giant anytime in our
lifetime, but plenty of them are out there. Red giants are a very interesting part in stellar evolution as
we have gained lots of knowledge about them over history. Our knowledge of these stars helps us
understand stars and their stellar evolution that much more.

35. The Most Important Event Of Church History
As I write this paper, on what, in my opinion, is The Most Important Event in Church History
Between 6 B.C. and 1517, I have to first consider a question. What determines if something is
important? There are a few things in my opinion that qualify an event as important. Of course, like
beauty, importance is relative to the eye of the beholder. Here is how I behold what qualifies an event
s importance. First, the event should be something that is relatable and affects a lot of people. Next, it
ought to be something that is unique or dramatic. The event should also have a human interest factor.
Lastly, it should evoke change that will benefit mankind. Now having established the criteria that I
would use to define an event s importance, I deem the most important event to be the crucifixion/death
and resurrection of Jesus, our Lord and Savior in the year 30 A.D. What makes Jesus crucifixion and
resurrection relatable and affects lots of people? The fact that He was willing to sacrifice His life for
man s sake fulfills this requirement. Because Jesus both died and rose again, we too through His
example, can die to a life of sin in the world, and be resurrected to a new life of freedom in Jesus. 2
Corinthians 5:17 says this to us, Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new (ESV). In this scripture, Paul shows both, how what
Jesus did relates to people, and how it affects everyone
