The Structure Of The Skeletal System
The skeletal system, while appearing inert at first glance, is a dynamic organ responsible for a
number of vital functions in the body; including but not limited to providing protection and support
to other organ systems, as well as permitting movement through collaboration with the muscular
system. At the cellular level, boneprovides a reservoir of growth factors and cytokines, maintains the
acid base balance and mineral homeostasis, and is the site of hematopoeisis. Like other connective
tissue, bone has both a cellular and an extracellular matrix component. The matrix is made up of
collagen fibers and noncollagenous proteins, with type I collagen accounting for ~90% of total
protein, and the noncollagenous osteocalcin, osteopontin, and bone sialoprotein, and others making
up the other 10%. In contrast with other connective tissue, the extracellular matrix of bone is
mineralized physiologically, though the deposition of layers of carbonated hydroxyapatite. This
mineral component, making up 50 70% of bone, provides bone s characteristic mechanical rigidity
and strength (Clarke 2008). Elasticity and flexibility are due to the organic matrix, which makes up
another 20 40%, lending bone incredible resilience without compromising its strength, and another
5 10% of bone is water.
There are two major types of bone; trabecular (also called cancellous or spongy), and cortical (also
called compact). Cortical bone is denser and hard, whereas trabecular bone is a honeycomb network

Physical, Mental, and Social Benefits of Playing Sports Essay
Sports, a very popular past time today, have been around since ancient times. Greek Olympic
Games featured events from chariot races, javelin throws, to wrestling. In addition, a game
similar to soccer was played in China by the second century BC. In England, a violent rugby type
game was even played to settle feuds between villages. With the development of the industrial
revolution and the creation of the first public schools, sports decreased in violence and were
played more recreationally and constructively. Basketball was invented to help the youth in New
England spend their energy in the winter months. Since the early 1900 s sports have been a key
experience in the United States ( History of Sports ). I have played... Show more content on

The experiences of failing and trying again provide a learning process that can translate to greater
achievement in school. A controlled longitudinal study found that adolescents who participated
in sports showed improved grade point averages, had increased attachment to school, and were
more likely to attend college (Larson, Reed, and Sean Seepersad). The persistence children learn
while playing sports will carry on in other parts of life, such as learning in school, leading to
continual success. While playing basketball, I began to grow more mentally and socially. I
stayed more active in the games and reacted faster; I would be ready to block a sudden dash to
our hoop. In other activities, such as math, I began solving equations quicker and was more
focused. Also, as a child I was a quiet and shy. When playing the game, I could not just stand
back; I had to get into the action by challenging the ball or trying to get a pass. As my confidence
developed, I became more bold and outgoing in other parts of my life.
Sports can be a unifying force, too. Parents of high school students who participate in sports have
higher expectations for their children. They will drive their children to work harder and achieve
more potential. Girls find participation in sports to be a way to break gender stereotypes,
enhancing their sense of possibility. Also, playing team sports can minimize feelings of difference
and isolation.

The Golden Age Of Sports In The Great Gatsby
The Golden Age of Sports
Sports brings out one s talents and achievement. However, sports can be a great way to just have
fun. During the world war one, many people have been unhappy. When the roaring twenties entered
their lives, they all started to have fun. The Golden Age of sports helped people develop their
interest in sports, recognize many sport stars and help develop women involvement in sports. The
media including, the news and radio, helped sports to get exposed. Since the United States had a
strong economy, people could afford to watch games during that time period, (Jeff A.L, Sports in
1920 s, Roaring Twenties). Massive sports stadiums were built such as the Yankee Stadium and
Madison Square Garden. Everyone started enjoying baseball. ... Show more content on

The sports in the 1920 s had a significant connection to the novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott
Fitzgerald. This novel, is about how one s happiness comes from their dream. In The Great
Gatsby, Jordan Baker and Meyer Wolfsheim both have contributed to the sports Era. Jordan
Baker is a wealthy, female athlete, who is also friends with Tom and Daisy. In the novel, Jordan
was a well known golf champion. This connects to women s involvement in the sports. Before
this time period, women did not contribute much to the era as, it was not ladylike to jump, sweat
or play, (Jeff A.L, Sports in 1920 s, Roaring Twenties). However, the talents of women were
eventually recognized later in the era. In the novel, Jordan Baker also becomes a well known
female athlete. Achievement also helps with women status in a society. After achieving, an
individual becomes well recognized. For an example, Nick says in the story, For a while I lost
sight of Jordan Baker, and then in midsummer I found her again. At first I was flattered to go
places with her, because she was a golf champion, and everyone knew her name , (Fitzgerald, 106).
This shows how eventually, after a women achieves in something, she will also have a better
reputation in a society. Secondly, Meyer Wolfsheim was an allusion to Arnold Rothstein. When
Gatsby tells Nick about Mr. Wolfsheim, he mentions, He s a gambler.

Joseph M. Juran s Life
Joseph M. Juran lived a long life comprised of many accomplishments. Using his natural gifts of
intelligence, Juran went from being a poor immigrant to being known for his quality control
expertise. He has also been known as the father of quality, and even a quality guru. This paper
gives insight into Jurans life and how he was able to work his way up to his many accomplishments.
Joseph was born in Braila, Romania in December of 1904. Five years later his father, Jakob
Juran, departed Romania and came to the United States in order better the life of his family. Three
years pass by and Joseph s father had finally earned enough money to bring his family to the United
States. The Juran family decided to settle down in Minneapolis, Minnesota and even though they
were very hopeful, poverty still took control of their lives.
During his childhood, Joseph surprisingly excelled at learning. He was so far ahead of the average
students that he eventually skipped the equivalent of four grade levels (Joseph M. Juran, 2000). In
1920, Joseph enrolled at the University of Minnesota and a short four years later graduated with a
B.S. in Electrical Engineering. After returning to school, about a decade later, Joseph received a
J.D. in Law at Loyola University in 1935.
In 1924, soon after graduation, Joseph started working at Western Electric. At Western Electric
Joseph worked within the inspection department of the famous Hawthorne Works located in
Chicago. Hawthorne Works was a very

Octavia Butler Bloodchild Summary
Octavia Butler, an African American author who uses her writing abilities to instill awareness
through a unique form of science fiction. Each of her novels and stories address issues and topics
that address issues that typically are discussed with a lot of tension from the feminist of the world.
Some of these issues include genderinequalities and gender norms. The short story that I decided
to read and write about is Bloodchild which is based on a romantic and controlling relationship
with humans and outer space creatures. This author switches the roles of the characters to opposite
of societal norms. The male character has the role of the female, so he is required to give birth and
the female character has taken the place of the male and has taken on the impregnating actions. The
male, Gan, who is the main character, is often seen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her science fiction novels are very fantasy based with real meanings behind them. Butler does this
to make the harsh truth, easier to understand and comprehend. She wants to paint the picture of the
wall men have around women in society. In her novel the alien like creature who is the women is a
very string creature with long arms. She often made people feel trapped. whole left row of T
Gatoi s limbs closed around her, holding her loosely, but securely...no one else in the family
liked it. They said it made them feel caged (Butler 3). This feeling that Butler described is the
same some women feel throughout their lives due to not being able to make their own choices
about how to live their lives. Instead society tells them what is needed to be done as a woman
not what is needed for themselves. Many women go through this oppression without even
knowing it. Society had forced women to overlook the way they are treated because the world we
live in is male based driven. Butler wants to change the way we see things, her goal is to change
the perception of what is socially

Violence And Sex On Television
Violence and Sex on Television: Effects on the Younger Audience In today s society, the media is
used greatly for communication, advertisement, information, and for numerous other reasons. The
world has evolved by technological advances as well as by the type of content that is put out on the
internet, radio, and especially on television. In particular, violenceand sex are two of the most
controversial content types that have been recently used loosely in the present as compared to
the past years. It has become sort of a norm in our society and in popular culture. It is very
debatable topic because of arguments of how it can take a toll or influence on behavior. Not only
has this content been used more frequently, it has also become easier for the younger audience to
view because of how freely and loosely it is used in regular everyday television. I strongly believe
that long term viewing of violence and sex will ultimately effect and even alter behavior of younger
audiences.
Violence and sex are also very easy for the younger audience to access because of how freely it is
used in regular everyday television. According to a fact on Teen Health and Media, on average
teenagers spend more time in front of the television than any other activity besides sleeping. The
fact is that television is a major part in everyday lives. Since the younger adult watches a great
amount of television, it is likely that the way of life shown on shows will translate for them to real

Third Party Logistic Services
2.1.2 Description of third party logistic services providers
According to various studies, Berglund et al. (1999) explain that third party logistics has several
definitions that are an activities consisting of transportation and management, and warehousing on
behalf of the shipper are carried out. Wilding and Juriado (2004) define that a company who solely
operates for the provision of logistics related single or multiple services on a contractual basis, is
called Third Party Logistics Company. Especially, the true third party logistics companies
provide a solution to the problem in the supply chain by incorporating multiple logistics services
that are managed solely or together (Schary and Larsen, 1995). Coltman, Gattorna and Whiting
(2010) suggest that third party logistics companies must create a large range of services to meet
their distinct needs. A definition by Lieb et al. (1993) explain that 3PL providers can assist the
whole processes of supply chain or just only selected activities depending on a company s
preference. It is also conclude the definition of outsourced logistics services that the employ of
external firms to provide logistics services for the whole or selected logistics activities within the
process that have traditionally been performed within an organization is the outsourced logistics.
The roles performed by the 3PL providers can be making especially to customers requirements (The
Client Company) derived from market demands and conditions.

Before calling the plumber s number, try to identify the problems as closely as you can. The more

estimate the cost of repair. It is also a good idea to call several plumber s numbers if you do not yet

Importance Of Mateship
Who likes having a barbecue dinner with your friends and family, having a good time? Who likes
to just chill and relax with your friends after school or on the weekends after an exhausting footy
game? Both examples are something that all Australians do frequently, as it is part of an aspect of
the culture of Australia. This aspect is mateship, something of which involves the creation of
strong bonds with people that you can rely on and form during school life. Being a mate is more
than just a friend, it is a relationship between people that have shared experiences, mutual respect
and unconditional assistance. Usually, mateships are formed by the similar hobbies that you like
to do, for example playing for your local sport team or going to social gatherings like the movies
to watch that movie you have been looking forward to. However, most mateships are formed
during your time at school, as the famous words of Mr Philips states, the strongest friendships are

As I stated earlier, a mate means to be someone who can lend unconditional assistance in someone s
time of need. This time of need could mean any kind of trouble, including financially, emotionally,
physically or mentally, depending on the situation of how you choose to live and the events that
you actively participate in. This type of situation is like the harsh environment in which the early
settlers and convicts found themselves in, meaning that men and women closely relied upon each

syphilis before the study began and 201 without the disease. Throughout the study many unethical
things happened and the subjects of the study were not given the full truth of what was happening
and what was going to happen. According to wikipedia, the Tuskegee Study was arguably the most

ended in July of 1972 because of an article in the Associated Press, this story led to a public
outcry and caused Heath and Science Affairs to appoint someone to review the study. Throughout
the reviewing of the study they declared the study was unethical. (Unknown, http:/

knowingly didn t treat these patients, even after an effective cure of penicillin was discovered.
Not only did the researchers not treat these patients that they had promised to treat, they also
never told them what their actual disease was. They also never informed these subjects that their
disease was spreadable, therefore infecting and affecting more people than the just the people
who agreed to this treatment. The whole study was based on a lie from the beginning and it was
also at a time of the depression, leading these people to be at last resort and a lack of money. At
the time, there was a lot of racism and these African Americans believe that they were being useful
and wanted to help as much as they could, according to the lecture. These African Americans were

Relationship Between The Body And The City s Building
The symposium then explored the relationship between the body and the city s building in more
depth with Adam Greenhalgh s paper Body/Building: New York City around 1910. The
associate curator of the National Gallery of Art in Washington presented once more Manhattan
as a living body, and his interpretation of Excavations at night as an autopsy of the city conveys
a powerful image of the city being exposed and vulnerable like Miss Bentham. Mr Greenhalgh

paintings does have a darker interpretation as he desires to seek for a deeper and darker meaning
than just the simple representation of a reality. His analysis of Kids, River Rats and Forty two...

Arguably Marin suffers the influences of the European futurists who are just emerging in Europe
during this period, which can imply that Bellows, like other Ashcanners and the French
Impressionists, did involuntarily start the concept of dynamism and its application in their

thermodynamic of some of Bellows paintings, the symposium proceeded under a different note
that still analysed the body in relation to movement, in particular the female body in commercial
art. Professor Jennifer Greenhill presented her paper Commercial Illustration s Immaterial

Urinary Tract Infection And Its Effect On The Body System
Urinary Tract Infection and its Effect on the Body System Urinary tract infection also referred to as
UTI is the second most common infection in the body. The urinary tract system in your body which
includes the bladder and kidneys makes urine and carries it out of your body. When germs get into
the urinary tract system an infection is typically formed. UTI s are usually caused when unwanted
bacteria enters through the urethraand begins to multiply (www.mayoclinic.org). The bacteria that
are normally found in the large intestine and feces are the most common source of a UTI. Sexual
intercourse is one of the common causes of urinary tract infections for women, causing bacteria
to move up into the urinary tract. Sometimes in a hospital setting a patient who is on a catheter
can also get a urinary tract infection. The two types of urinary tract infections are infection of the
bladder (Cystitis) and infection of the urethra (urethritis). Cystitis is a type of UTI which is
caused by Escherichia coli, a type of bacteria that is normally found in the gastrointestinal tract
(www.webmd.com). Although sexual intercourse can cause this type of urinary tract infection, it
doesn t necessarily mean that you have to be sexually active to develop it. Every female is at risk
for this type of UTI due to the shortness of distance from the urethral opening to the bladder and
the urethra to the anus. Urethritis is a type of UTI which typically occurs when bacteria from the
GI tract is

Business idea: Luxury hotel
1.1 Describe what may be the advantages and disadvantages of using qualitative research approach
for your business plan.
Qualitative research approach is used in exploratory research designs. Conducting a primary
research will require the researcher to gather background information, clarify research problems,
and create hypotheses or establish research priorities. Collection of data in this kind of research is
in the form of text, or images using open ended questions, and observation.
The advantages of using a qualitative research approach in conducting a primary research is the
data gathered will be rich. The amount of details needed for the research is contained in the

The advantage of using this kind of research approach is it allows the researcher to have broader
study which implicates more subjects. Thus, it enhances the generalization of the results. In
addition, the research can be duplicated or replicated. Similar data can be used to analyze and
compare with the similar studies in the past. Personal bias can also be limited and avoided by
researchers by means of employing subjects anonymous to them. The data collected for quantitative
approach is precise enough to identify even small differences because it uses numerical data it is
quantifiable. It is also easier to administer and record answers to structured questions. The time
consumed to gather information is lesser than compared to gathering information for qualitative
research approach.
On the other hand, the downside of a quantitative research is that the results are limited because the
responses provided are numerical descriptions and not detailed narrative so as a result, it provides
less intricate interpretations of human perception. In depth data will be difficult to

famous three Vertigo, North by Northwest, and Psycho and then made the Birds, which had a
woman who had some inner problems but could function. To Marnie which is Hitchcock first
film and the first ever film to have a main character who is completely broken and a leading man
who is almost a villain and could be villains or jerks in another film and make them your lead.
You have Marnie who creates fake identities to become a secretary in companies and then steal
from them. She has a deep fear of commitment to people, and her lack of confidence in herself so
she pretends to be someone else. She shows this lack of confidence in a belief in herself by her
constant changing of names and inability to stay in a job for long even though she can do the
work. Though where I see this woman, who is like a kid inside, is in her interactions with her
mother. Marnie is like a child wanting her mother to love her, that seeing her mother with the
neighbor girl makes her jealous and feel insignificant, as she says in the film momma what
wrong with me, why won t you look at me . Marnie is stuck in the past and unable to move
forward as a woman. Marnie also has a deep fear of thunder, and the color red, and the biggest
things about her that is odd for a leading lady as she can t stand the touch of a man. Hitchcock
creates this interesting character that is broken and fragile, but the hardest part is

Obsidian Energy Case Study
Obsidian Energy is a gas and oil producer of energy. It is located in Calgary, Canada. The
company showed increasingly exciting growth in the third quarter of the last year. The CEO
David French recently addressed the wells that were discovered in the Rocky Mountains of
Western Canada. In that comment, Finch added that there are three million acres of land included
in that region. This is encouraging news for the energy community. Obsidian Energy had begun
exploration in the area just this past year. The results of that exploration have been promising. So
afar three wells have been created that have produced 2,000 barrels of product per day. This equals
60 barrels of energy in the form of oil each day. That has far exceeded the expectation

Comparing Jocasta In The Odyssey And Oedipus
Most seems to enjoy tight casting female characters through two tropes: either the damsel in
distress waiting for her knight in shining armor to save her, or a tough, power indulged witch
who s only concern is herself. Very few times (and by even fewer male authors) will a female
character be written as a medium between the two extremes. This problem has been occurring
for centuries almost, even being found in literature dating back to B.C., with Penelope from
Homer s The Odyssey and Jocasta from Sophocles Oedipus Rex : Penelope being written as the
damsel with hundreds of suitors vying for her attention, all while desperately weaving and
waiting day in and day out for her true love to come home; Jocasta as this harsh women who only
wants to be around when everything is working to her advantage. Then there s Antigone, who
stands up for her morals against Thebes without so much as batting an eye. The Odyssey tells the
story of Odysseus, ruler of Ithaca who has been lost out at sea for the past 20 years after the Trojan
war. At home waiting is his son Telemachus and his wife Penelope. Unsurprisingly Telemachus with

At first glance, it was exciting to see a woman dominate that severely in a man s world; but much
like Lady Macbeth, all Jocasta had were her tough edges and a hunger for whatever power her
family could get. When Oedipus presented her with the soothsayer s report about how he killed
his father and will inevitably bed his mother keep in mind, Jocasta knew this was all true she put
so much effort into making Oedipus believe that this wasn t true and that it was impossible
(Sophocles 38). Later on when Oedipus found out Jocasta was his own mother, Jocasta later killed
herself before she had to face responsibility for her actions to more than just Oedipus and his men.

Anne Frank Conflict
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank is organized in chronological order and include the dates
important to the Jewish author. On Anne s thirteenth birthday, she receives a diary she calls Kitty,
and this is where she records events that happened to her. Anne includes writings about her brief
normal life and the life in the Secret Annex. She and her family are hiding from the Gestapo during
WWII. As the story progresses, more Jews join the Franks. There is great conflict between Anne
and the rest of the residents, though sometimes her father is darling. After a little more than two
years in hiding, the German police discovered the secret Jews and sent them into labor camps,
where Otto Frankwas the only survivor. Anne matures and finds Peter at her side, even though there
is tension between the other Van Daans and herself. Not only is there conflict between Mrs. Van
Daan, but with Anne s own motherand her roommate, Mr. Dussel. Anne and her family were
forced into hiding after her sister, Margot, got called up: Margot told me that the call up was not
for Daddy, but for her (14). They immediately rushed to the attic in a building that contains her
father s office. Anne describes her beautiful Secret Annex (18) and depicts where everyone s
room and living area is. There are many things for the family to get used to, such as the chiming
clock, Daddy, Mummy, and Margot can t get used to the sound of the Westeroren clock yet,
which tells us the time every quarter of an hour. I can. I loved it from the start...it s like a faithful
friend. Anne doesn t feel right at home, but she does love the chime of the large clock. As soon
as the family moved in to the Annex, Anne and her father prepared for their long stay: We had to
start clearing up immediately, if we wished to sleep in decent beds that night (19). This
symbolizes the long work they did to prepare for their long stay in the attic. This also shows the
reader the amount of effort Anne had to try and help her father. Anne and her father were very
busy, and Margot and her mother were not doing much, We hadn t had a bit of anything warm the
whole day, but we didn t care; Mummy and Margot were too tired and keyed up to eat, and Daddy

The GaAs then is develop to GaAsP and GaP [6],
Particles of light or photons emitted when energy/current introduced to GaAs. Generally,
GaAs gives out light in the infrared range, not visible to the human eye, but with the introduction
of phosphorus, a mixed crystal of gallium arsenide phosphide GaAsP is created [6]. The light that
is visible to the human eye, ranging from red to yellow, is obtain based on the proportional
quantity of phosphorus. The material combination gallium phosphide GaP was developed in
addition to GaAsP. A variety of colours can be obtain if the crystal compound doped properly [6].

Analysis Of The Movie Network
Right now, it s an industry dedicated to one thing. Profit. This quote by author, Paddy Chayefsky,
perfectly sums up the motives behind the movie Network. From hiring soothsayers to risking a
man s mental heath for the sake of a successful television program, the characters in Network have
truly been blinded by fame and top ratings. This satire fiercely describes just how far a television
networkwill go to achieve such accomplishments. In the 1950 s, television changed American
entertainment from showing sitcoms to serious news broadcasts. In the movie Network, the
setting revolves around a news station, where the ratings are suffering and the workers are
growing desperate for attention. Television executive, Diana Christensen, is tirelessly racking
her brain for the next big hit, and her ideas are deemed crazy by more than just one coworker;
however, in desperation, her ideas are put to the test on live television. Even after news anchor,
Howard Beale, has a mental breakdown on camera, Christensen fights to keep him on the air
because of the rising success the network found in his entertaining yet uncontrollable rants about a
failing society (Ebert). Eventually, Christensen manages to secure Howard Beale s very own
television series featuring a soothsayer to predict future shows and Beale himself to demand
people to take control of their lives. Almost all of his shows ended in him falling flat on the ground
from fainting; this reveals the toll that the program is

military industrial complex , a term that is used to describe how the government uses private
industry to meet its various demands during war or peace. Since World War I and World War II, the
United States has witnessed a greater connection between the public and private sectors as private
industry pumped out the goods to keep the government and country going. Similarly, there were

Contrasting Themes In David Lynch s Film Blue Velvet
Contrasting Themes in Blue Velvet
The subconscious psyche is one of the most fascinating and almost completely inexplicable aspects
of human behavior. Even more intriguing than merely the subconscious is the notion of a darker,
more repressed side that many individuals refuse to acknowledge exists within them. In David
Lynch s film Blue Velvet, the director attempts to explore the psyche of a young man named
Jeffrey Beaumont, most notably the clash between his darker side and good side for the first time
in his life. Using themes that sharply contrast one another, Lynch provides insight into the
character of Jeffrey and the struggle that he is faced with. Jeffrey is in a transitional period of his
life, not very old, and is on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gun on the television is in direct contrast to what has been taking place visually up to this
point. The mise en scene has been depicting an idealized American town, and yet the image of a
gun is used as an allusion to something more sinister lurking within the town, with the interior of
Jeffrey s house perhaps representing the inner sanctum of Jeffrey s subconscious. From here, Lynch
cuts back to the long shot of Jeffrey s father watering the lawn, followed by a close up of the faucet
where the hose is connected. Suddenly, the cuts are very rapid and the camera cuts between
close ups of the hose, the faucet, and Jeffrey s father, who eventually keels over in an apparent
stroke. This is followed by a long shot of a dog attempting to bite the water spraying out of the
hose, with a cut to a close up of the dog doing this behavior in slow motion. Slowly, the non
digetic sound of Blue Velvet fades out, giving way to an unintelligible and faint sound which
appears to be non digetic as well. However, the camera zooms into an extreme close up of the grass
and tracks through the grass as well, with the unintelligible noise increasing in volume. The shot
then dissolves to reveal an entire population of cockroaches infesting the soil, and what had
previously been non digetic sound has now become the loud, digetic sound of the insects
movement. Immediately, there is a cut to an establishing

The Devil In The White City Character Analysis
Throughout history, pride and determination have motivated people to do amazing things. In The
Devil in the White City, Erik Larson proves that pride and determination aided the creation of The
World s Columbian Exposition.
The Devil in the White City is a novel that covers the creation and construction of the 1893 World s
Columbian Expo. The novel contains two plot lines. The first plotline follows Daniel Burnham.
Near the beginning of the book, Burnham is left alone to work on the project after the death of his
partner, John Root. Through the rest of the novel, Burnham faces many obstacles that threaten the
creation of the World s Columbian Expo. Despite the challenges that he faced, Burnham persists,
and the World s Columbian Expo opened in 1893. After the fair began, Burnham faced many new
challenges, such as turning a profit in a suffering economy. Despite all the obstacles that Burnham
faces, Burnham created a successful fair that pays off its debts and turns a profit.
The second plot line within Devil in the White City follows H.H. Holmes. Holmes buys a
pharmacy within Chicago and constructs a building that aids him in killing people and disposing
of their bodies. The first floor of Holme s building acts as a front, a pharmacy, while the top two
floors act as apartments for rent. These apartments have secret passages, hallways, and chutes that
lead to the basement, making disposing of dead bodies convenient for Holmes. After Jackson park

Wealth Inequality Of The United States
Wealth in the United States is generally thought to be distributed fairly as the highest earners have a
higher percentage of wealth. Although this common notion is technically correct, the wealth is not
spread as fairly as people might believe. The United States uses a free market, capitalistic economy,
which entails wealthinequality. However, the amount of wealth inequality depends on how the
government limits the wealthy. Interestingly enough, the government does not have regulations to
distribute the wealth more fairly as the top 1% of earners in the United Statesown about 40% of the
financial wealth in the country and the bottom 80% of earners own a measly 4.7%. Astonishingly,
the financial wealth for the top 20% increased from 1983 to 2010 meaning the wealth became more
concentrated at the higher socioeconomic tiers as time passed. These economic inequalities
benefited the wealthy as they gained political powers, controlled a large portion of the economic
market, and used capitalismto manipulate the public s perspective of the wealth distribution in the
United States. While wealth inequality is a result of capitalism, extremely wealthy people use their
wealth to exercise political power, but the average person does not understand that this is a corrupt
method of crippling the economy in favor of the ultra wealthy.
To begin, the wealthiest earners in the United States have more power politically and economically
than the rest of the population. To illustrate the

All Human Beings Possess A Basic Understanding Of Love
All human beings possess a basic understanding of love and are able to express love through
verbalizations, emotions, gestures, or other acts of kindness; however, the condition of the human
heart is tainted by sin and so is love in terms of humanity. Thus, human beings are unable to
understand and comprehend love s truest form which is found in the embodiment God s being. God
s love is communicated to mankind through the covenants, the wonders of creation, the personhood
of JesusChrist, and the power of the Holy Spiritwho subsequently seals God s offer of salvation
through the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, those whom God allows Himself to be

Hence, with all the confusion and mystery that surrounds the Trinity, it becomes difficult to
understand how each member of the Trinity shares in the attribute of God s love.
Without the Trinity, human beings cannot appreciate the attribute of God s love. Thus, God
reveals His attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John 3:16) while Jesus displays the attribute
of God s love through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy Spirit makes the attribute
known through the regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer (Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love
itself is in triunity; hence, there must be the lover, the love, and the loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53).
In the Godhead, the attribute of God s love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John
14:31) in the triunity of the Father who is the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy
Spirit who is love (Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the Father who so loved (John 3:16) gave the Son
his love (Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit (Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is
expressed to mankind not only in creation but in redemption where the invisible is made visible
(Conner, 1980).
Adding to the complexity of God s love is the fact that the attribute of God s love is not easily seen
in the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly reveals Himself to human consciousness; hence, the

Theologians have used the biblical evidence to coin the term hypostatic union to accurately
capture both the fully divine and fully human nature of Jesus joined in one Person. Proof of
Christ s divinity is shown throughout the Bible many times. Malachi 3:1 3, John 1:1, John 8:58,
Colossians 1:19, Hebrews 1:1 5, and Revelation 1:1 are just a few of the prominent passages that
authenticate the deity of Jesus Christ. In the book Fundamentals of the Faith, Peter Kreeft says
another tool for properly utilizing apologetics are creeds. Creeds are a formal statement of
Christian beliefs. He also argues that the creeds specify our destiny as well as the nature of God
because God is our destiny. Creeds were created by the church to objectify the truth as in the
Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, and the Apostles Creed. The Apostles Creed speaks about the
Trinity. The doctrine of the Trinity means that there is one God who eternally exists as three

Exchange Rate Volatility Measure And Relative Price
3.2 Exchange Rate Volatility measure and relative price An important issue in this topic is how to
choose the appropriate technique to estimate the exchange rate volatility. However, wide variety of
measures have been discussing in the literature, but there is no right or wrong measure of
exchange rate volatility. Mckenzie (1999) provides a brief over view of different methods to
measure exchange ratevolatility, such average absolute difference between the previous forward and
current spot rate, variance of the spot exchange rate around its trend, absolute percentage change of
the exchange rate and the moving average of the standard deviationof the exchange rate. A moving
standard deviation of nominal or real exchange rate seems to be the most commonly used method
in the empirical literature. Hence, we will construct the moving average standard deviation of the
monthly real exchange rate volatility with the same spirit as Serenis and Tsounis (2014) and a
moving standard deviation of real exchange rate can be expressed as:
Where R_t is logarithm of nominal or real exchange rate and m is the number of periods which
can be range from 4 to 12.In this paper, we will use the moving average of the standard deviation
of exchange rate as the measure of exchange rate volatility by using the real exchange rate and the
order m is set to be 12. Koray and Lastrepes (1989) have shown that the moving average of the

Jonah Vs. Jonah In The Book Of Nineveh
The people simply humbled themselves before God and He had mercy on them cancelling His
judgment. Jonah had wanted Nineveh to be destroyed by God and this would prolong the life of
the kingdom of Israel. But instead he was the main source of them hearing the message of
repentance. He had preferred to die instead of fulfilling his divinely appointed mission. Now he
had no one to blame for Ninevehs survival except himself and Gods mercy. This made Jonahso
angry that he was inconsolable and wanted to die.
Jesus compared to Jonah

Grace is God s unmerited favor; it is getting what you don t deserve. If you got what you deserve it
would be payment not unmerited favor.
Justice is getting what you deserve.
Mercy is not getting what you deserve.
And grace is getting what you absolutely don t deserve... (Falsani)
At the end of the book, the Bible records that Jonah was so angry that he asks God to let him die
but God does not do so. He then reminds God that he knew Gods character. That God was a
gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from
doing harm and this was his reason for running away to Tarshish. Jonah then decides to go out of
the city and wait and watch the outcome of Nineveh. While he was there God made a plant to
grow up immediately and give him shade, bringing Jonah much joy. But when morning came God
appointed a worm to eat it , then a strong wind and sun to beat down on Jonah till he fainted. At
this point, Jonah still feels that it is better for him to die than live. Jonah expresses to God that he
has more pity on the plant that died that the Ninevities that did not

Examples Of Irony In A Midsummer Night Dream
Imagine you are Bottom, and you wake up finding your friends running in fear, once they see
you. You, Bottom, are the victim in this dramatic irony example. Dramatic Irony is when the
audience, or other characters know something that the character doesn t. Throughout the play,
dramatic irony is used to build tension and humor in the play. During the play, A Midsummer s
Night Dream, there were also other examples of dramatic irony besides Bottom. Hermia and
Lysander were true loves, but once they were seperated by Lysander s new love, everything
changed. Also a fairy queen, Titania, falls in love with Bottom, a worker who looks different. A
Midsummer s Night Dream is filled with many examples of dramatic irony to make the play
interesting. The first example of irony in the play, A Midsummer s Night Dream,

Oberon, the fairy king, puts the flower juice into Titania s eyes to make her fall in love with
someone hideous. The flower juice makes you fall in love with the first person you see, and the
first thing Titania saw was Bottom. Now, Bottom was not his normal self, his head was a
donkey head. Titania instantly falls in love with Bottom and treats him as royalty. Come, sit
thee down upon this flowery bed . . . and kiss thy fair large ears, my gentle joy (Shakespeare
4.1.0 5). She wakes up the next morning not knowing why she was in love with Bottom. Titania
spoke to Oberon, My Oberon, what visions have I seen! Methought I was enamored of an ass
(Shakespeare 4.1.60). She wakes up to not knowing why she is in love with Bottom because
Oberon, put the flower juice back into her eyes, which made her fall out of love to Bottom, and
in love with Oberon. This is dramatic irony because Oberon and the audience knew what had
happened to Titania and Bottom, but she was confused to why she was sleeping next to a person
with a donkey head, and why she had a dream about

Tax Exemptions in America
Decades ago, state and federal legislatures began offering tax exemptions, including exemptions
from property tax, for nonprofit institutions that provide charitable services to communities.
Nonprofit hospitals that qualify for federal tax exemption under Internal Revenue Code
В§501(c)(3) are not guaranteed state charitable taxexemptions. A hospital must provide some
amount of charity in order to be granted a state tax exemption, however historical statues have
failed to quantify what amount of charity is sufficient to meet the charitable purpose exemption .
In recent times, nonprofit hospitals repeatedly have to defend the amount of charity and benefit
they provide to the community to maintain their state property tax exempt status. There has been
a recent, notable case where a hospital lost its property tax exemption. In the case of Provena
Covenant Medical Center V. Illinois Department of Revenue, the Illinois Supreme Court held that
PCMC does not provide enough charity care to qualify for tax exemptions provided for nonprofit
organizations that provide charity care . Nonprofit hospitals are among the largest landowners in
many communities, in the US, billions of dollars in property is owned by nonprofit hospitals .
Most hospitals would owe millions in taxes if exempt properties were taxed. This report will
examine the Illinois Supreme court decision in Provena Covenant Medical Center v. Illinois
Department of Revenue, Case No. 107328, and analyze the courts

Aura In Art
To describe the feeling you get when looking at art, is difficult, and many theorists struggle with
how something so purely emotional, so unreal is ever present in the world of art. How can
something so fluid be grasped? In this essay we will explore the word aura, and how it relates to
art. I will argue that the connections we get when looking at art is unreachable and cannot be
related to either space or concept.
Fig. 1: Leonardo Da Vinci, ca 1503, Mona Lisa
Aura, according to Merriam Websters Dictionary(2016) is described as a special quality or feeling
that seems to come from a person, place, or thingВ». The concept of Aura in art, originated from
the German philosopher Walter Benjamin in 1935. It is attached to the unique. Unique artwork is
charged . They have authenticity. The aura occurs through the special fascination we get when
faced with a work of art that is unique. The most obvious example here would be Mona Lisa
(1503). The aura is an artistic charisma or vibration of value and sublimity, of authenticity, a larger
than life status. It is an aesthetic mystery only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where you see it is related to the first glance experience, but is a questionable factor when it
comes to emotional response. There is a sense of greatness with art exhibited in a museum or
gallery. This is described as the Museum Effect, where the place itself creates validity and
importance to the object exhibited (Malraux, 1967). While I think artists should value the
importance of placement and exhibition venue in relation to concept, the place itself should not be
an important factor regarding aura. The artwork on its own is what gives us the uniqueness and
felling of awe, not the surroundings. You can feel a connection to art wether it is in the galley, on
the street or in a family album. In other words if an art piece can exist in itself, an absolute, and
still maintain an aura, it is in my opinion

Three Polls
Abstract The objective of this report was to analyse three polls each from different sources, to
identify whether they were biased and unfair or unbiased and fair or perhaps a concoction of the
two and if the location of the sources affected the reliability and accuracy of the poll. This was
done by depicting it into a table with strengths and weaknesses of each of the three polls adjacent
to each other. The findings showed all three of the polls were with biased and unfair or unbiased
and fair, none of them were a mixture of the two. The sources of the polls did not influence the
reliability and accuracy of the poll, rather it contradicted it. All the sources were reliable however
the polls had some bias involved with either the wording or... Show more content on

This may be possibly influenced by the sources. Introduction The aim of the report is to
investigate whether the polls analysed in the report are fair and unbiased or unfair and biased
or a concoction of both. Before any judgements are declared, the definition of what makes a fair
and unbiased poll must be outlined. A poll is where people are asked to give their opinions on a
subjective or objective matter. A poll diverges into nine types; benchmark polls, tracking polls,
bushfire polls, entrance polls, exit polls, deliberative opinion polls, opinion polls, push polls and
straw polls. A benchmark poll is generally a short and simple survey of respondent s opinion
designated to help political candidates craft their campaigns. Tracking polls are repeated over
several consecutive days to create a picture of where opinion is moving over time, to enable a
rough report of the campaigns. The bushfire polls are polls taken during the period between the
benchmark and tracking polls. The number of brushfire polls taken by a campaign is determined
by how competitive the race is and how much money the campaign has to spend. These polls
usually focus on likely voters and the

The Structure Of The Skeletal System The skeletal system, while appearing inert at first glance, is a dynamic organ responsible for a number of vital functions in the body; including but not limited to providing protection and support to other organ systems, as well as permitting movement through collaboration with the muscular system. At the cellular level, boneprovides a reservoir of growth factors and cytokines, maintains the acid base balance and mineral homeostasis, and is the site of hematopoeisis. Like other connective tissue, bone has both a cellular and an extracellular matrix component. The matrix is made up of collagen fibers and noncollagenous proteins, with type I collagen accounting for ~90% of total protein, and the noncollagenous osteocalcin, osteopontin, and bone sialoprotein, and others making up the other 10%. In contrast with other connective tissue, the extracellular matrix of bone is mineralized physiologically, though the deposition of layers of carbonated hydroxyapatite. In England, a violent rugby type game was even played to settle feuds between villages. With the development of the industrial revolution and the creation of the first public schools, sports decreased in violence and were played more recreationally and constructively. Parents of high school students who participate in sports have higher expectations for their children. They will drive their children to work harder and achieve more potential. During the world war one, many people have been unhappy. When the roaring twenties entered their lives, they all started to have fun. The Golden Age of sports helped people develop their interest in sports, recognize many sport stars and help develop women involvement in sports. The sports in the 1920 s had a significant connection to the novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This novel, is about how one s happiness comes from their dream. In The Great Gatsby, Jordan Baker and Meyer Wolfsheim both have contributed to the sports Era. Jordan Baker is a wealthy, female athlete, who is also friends with Tom and Daisy. In the novel, Jordan was a well known golf champion. This connects to women s involvement in the sports. Before this time period, women did not contribute much to the era as, it was not ladylike to jump, sweat or play, (Jeff A.L, Sports in 1920 s, Roaring Twenties). However, the talents of women were eventually recognized later in the era. In the novel, Jordan Baker also becomes a well known female athlete. Achievement also helps with women status in a society. After achieving, an individual becomes well recognized. For an example, Nick says in the story, For a while I lost sight of Jordan Baker, and then in midsummer I found her again. At first I was flattered to go places with her, because she was a golf champion, and everyone knew her name , (Fitzgerald, 106). This shows how eventually, after a women achieves in something, she will also have a better reputation in a society. Secondly, Meyer Wolfsheim was an allusion to Arnold Rothstein. When Gatsby tells Nick about Mr. Wolfsheim, he mentions, He s a gambler. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eisenhower brought attention to the military industrial complex , a term that is used to describe how the government uses private industry to meet its various demands during war or peace. Contrasting Themes In David Lynch s Film Blue Velvet Contrasting Themes in Blue Velvet The subconscious psyche is one of the most fascinating and almost completely inexplicable aspects of human behavior. Even more intriguing than merely the subconscious is the notion of a darker, more repressed side that many individuals refuse to acknowledge exists within them. In David Lynch s film Blue Velvet, the director attempts to explore the psyche of a young man named Jeffrey Beaumont, most notably the clash between his darker side and good side for the first time in his life. Using themes that sharply contrast one another, Lynch provides insight into the character of Jeffrey and the struggle that he is faced with. The gun on the television is in direct contrast to what has been taking place visually up to this point. The mise en scene has been depicting an idealized American town, and yet the image of a gun is used as an allusion to something more sinister lurking within the town, with the interior of Jeffrey s house perhaps representing the inner sanctum of Jeffrey s subconscious. From here, Lynch cuts back to the long shot of Jeffrey s father watering the lawn, followed by a close up of the faucet where the hose is connected. Suddenly, the cuts are very rapid and the camera cuts between close ups of the hose, the faucet, and Jeffrey s father, who eventually keels over in an apparent stroke. This is followed by a long shot of a dog attempting to bite the water spraying out of the hose, with a cut to a close up of the dog doing this behavior in slow motion. Slowly, the non digetic sound of Blue Velvet fades out, giving way to an unintelligible and faint sound which appears to be non digetic as well. However, the camera zooms into an extreme close up of the grass and tracks through the grass as well, with the unintelligible noise increasing in volume. The shot then dissolves to reveal an entire population of cockroaches infesting the soil, and what had previously been non digetic sound has now become the loud, digetic sound of the insects movement. The Devil in the White City is a novel that covers the creation and construction of the 1893 World s Columbian Expo. The novel contains two plot lines. The first plotline follows Daniel Burnham. Near the beginning of the book, Burnham is left alone to work on the project after the death of his partner, John Root. Although this common notion is technically correct, the wealth is not spread as fairly as people might believe. The United States uses a free market, capitalistic economy, which entails wealthinequality. However, the amount of wealth inequality depends on how the government limits the wealthy. Interestingly enough, the government does not have regulations to distribute the wealth more fairly as the top 1% of earners in the United Statesown about 40% of the financial wealth in the country and the bottom 80% of earners own a measly 4.7%. Astonishingly, the financial wealth for the top 20% increased from 1983 to 2010 meaning the wealth became more concentrated at the higher socioeconomic tiers as time passed. These economic inequalities benefited the wealthy as they gained political powers, controlled a large portion of the economic market, and used capitalismto manipulate the public s perspective of the wealth distribution in the United States. While wealth inequality is a result of capitalism, extremely wealthy people use their wealth to exercise political power, but the average person does not understand that this is a corrupt method of crippling the economy in favor of the ultra wealthy. All Human Beings Possess A Basic Understanding Of Love All human beings possess a basic understanding of love and are able to express love through verbalizations, emotions, gestures, or other acts of kindness; however, the condition of the human heart is tainted by sin and so is love in terms of humanity. Thus, human beings are unable to understand and comprehend love s truest form which is found in the embodiment God s being. God s love is communicated to mankind through the covenants, the wonders of creation, the personhood of JesusChrist, and the power of the Holy Spiritwho subsequently seals God s offer of salvation through the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Hence, with all the confusion and mystery that surrounds the Trinity, it becomes difficult to understand how each member of the Trinity shares in the attribute of God s love. Without the Trinity, human beings cannot appreciate the attribute of God s love. Thus, God reveals His attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John 3:16) while Jesus displays the attribute of God s love through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy Spirit makes the attribute known through the regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer (Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love itself is in triunity; hence, there must be the lover, the love, and the loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53). In the Godhead, the attribute of God s love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John 14:31) in the triunity of the Father who is the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy Spirit who is love (Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the Father who so loved (John 3:16) gave the Son his love (Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit (Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is expressed to mankind not only in creation but in redemption where the invisible is made visible (Conner, 1980). Adding to the complexity of God s love is the fact that the attribute of God s love is not easily seen in the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly reveals Himself to human consciousness; hence, the ... Exchange Rate Volatility Measure And Relative Price 3.2 Exchange Rate Volatility measure and relative price An important issue in this topic is how to choose the appropriate technique to estimate the exchange rate volatility. However, wide variety of measures have been discussing in the literature, but there is no right or wrong measure of exchange rate volatility. Mckenzie (1999) provides a brief over view of different methods to measure exchange ratevolatility, such average absolute difference between the previous forward and current spot rate, variance of the spot exchange rate around its trend, absolute percentage change of the exchange rate and the moving average of the standard deviationof the exchange rate. A moving standard deviation of nominal or real exchange rate seems to be the most commonly used method in the empirical literature. Hence, we will construct the moving average standard deviation of the monthly real exchange rate volatility with the same spirit as Serenis and Tsounis (2014) and a moving standard deviation of real exchange rate can be expressed as: Where R_t is logarithm of nominal or real exchange rate and m is the number of periods which can be range from 4 to 12.In this paper, we will use the moving average of the standard deviation of exchange rate as the measure of exchange rate volatility by using the real exchange rate and the order m is set to be 12.
