The mean for the column mean is 3.56. It is very close to the parameter of interest but is not equal to
it. You can calculate a confidence interval for the mean of the mean column, but a specific confidence
interval would need to be provided. In that case, the confidence interval would be centered on 3.56,
not 3.5. |
4. Give the mean for the median column of the Worksheet. Is this estimate centered about the
parameter of interest (the parameter of interest is the answer for the mean in question 2)
The mean for the median column is 3.6, which is close to the mean in question 2 but not as close as
the answer in question 3. |

which has the least variability?
Standard Deviation of Mean= 0.4762Standard Deviation of Median= 0.7539The standard deviation of
the Mean is smaller, which means all of the data points will tend to be very close to the Mean. The
Median with a larger Standard Deviation will tend to have data points spread out over a large range of
values. Since the Mean has the smaller value of the Standard Deviations, it has the least variability. |

Comparing Brazilian Culture To American Culture
Brazil is a country located in the North Eastern and Eastern section of South America. It is the fourth
largest country in the world and fifth most populous, holding over 200 million people, which also
accounts for one third of South America s entire population. (The World Factbook: Brazil 2018)
Because of its huge size, Brazil receives millions of tourists each year; which makes it important to
understand how to evaluate Brazilian culture and their way of communication. The culture of Brazil is
one of the most diverse cultures in the world due to its long history of colonizers and explorers. The
first European settlers to arrive in the now Brazilian area (A Brief History of Brazil, n.d.), were the
Portuguese led by Pedro Cabral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first dimension in Hofstede s cultural dimensions is the power distance. This is the degree in
which people in a particular culture view the unequal distribution of power as acceptable (McCornack,
2015). Brazil has a much higher belief in power distance than the United States. In Brazil there is a
large power distance, which means that they believe that each person has a place in the social
hierarchy, that authorities should not be challenged, that hierarchy and inequality are appropriate and
actually benefit the society (Comparing Brazilian Culture to American Culture, n.d.). This is very
different to American culture because America was founded on challenging the government. Our
constitution was made so that we can challenge our government and keep its power in check, so the
government does not abuse its power. Most Americans also believe that inequality is bad for our
country. We have gone through many periods of inequality in this country and we look back on them
to see what we did wrong and how we can do better now as to not repeat our mistakes. Another
dimension is the uncertainty avoidance, Cultures vary in how much they tolerate and accept
unpredictability (McCornack, 2015). Brazil has a high uncertainty avoidance culture. Cultures like
Brazil make rigid rules and set regulations to try and cut down on uncertainty. This can be seen in their
history of military leaders as leaders of the country. Brazil is a high context society, which means they
put a strong emphasis on how the message is said rather than focusing on the words used alone.
Examples of this include Brazilians will sometimes exaggerate a point but it will be done in a way that
the others know it to be an exaggeration. Brazil is also a collectivistic culture. This means that
Brazilians emphasize group identity, interpersonal harmony, and the well being

Victorian Women In Dracula
Bram Stoker presents Lucy Westenra and Mina Murray Harker as the perfect victorian women. Full of
innocence, chaste, and elegance. Prior to the arrival of Dracula, the audience sees Lucy as a as a
voluptuous, beautiful woman. Lucy has three men asking for her hand in marriage. Writing to Mina,
Lucy complains, Why can t they let a girl marry three men, or as many as want her, and save all this
trouble? (81). This shows she knows she cannot say those words because it is frowned upon in
Victorian culture, but it does not stop her from mentally crossing rigid social boundary. Lucy is
portrayed by her physical beauty and flirtatiousness. All of her three suitors are enchanted by her
beauty and words. During these letter correspondents, Mina shows ... Show more content on

Working as schoolmistress and takes an interest in her husband s work, which is unheard of during
that time. Mina Murray also shows unyielding devotion to Jonathan for when she hears from him,
goes to his bedside immediately to nurse him. The innocence, chaste, and purity slowly diminishes as
Dracula makes his influence on both of the girls making them voluptuous beings like his three brides.
As Lucy succumbs to illness she becomes more and more unlike a perfect Victorian woman prior to
Dracula s impact on her. Although she becomes weaker, paler, and closer to death, the woman
becomes a wantonness being who her suitors admire and are afraid of. Once was an embodiment of a
perfect Victorian woman is now a monster. As she turns into a vampire, she becomes bolder and
volomptuous. The un dead Lucy proclaims boldly, Come to me, Arthur. Leave these others and come
to me. My arms are hungry for you. Come, and we can rest together. Come, my husband, come! (289).
Van Helsing, Quincey Morris, John Seward, and Arthur seeing her as a threat to society must return
her to her purer state. Van Helsing believes it s best if Arthur himself does the job of getting rid of the
demon. Once Arthur runs the stake through Lucy s heart, the

The Human Brain, And Psychology
Catherine Rhode looked out the window of her studio apartment in New York City. It was dead silent
and the only thing keeping her company were her thoughts. She was looking at a picture of her and
her family, before she had run away. She could remember that night like it was yesterday. She was
only 16. She had been in a serious argument with her family for a few hours about her and her future.
Everyone in her family wanted her to be a doctor, to help save lives. No one had supported her
decision to study the human brain, and psychology. So, that night, she packed a large backpack, and
left when no one was awake.
Screaming from the apartment next door woke her from her thoughts. They must be playing video

Thinking back was always painful to Catherine. The clock hit 2:00 pm and she walked out to the
lobby area to greet the mother of three. Just remember, her name is Hadley Johnson, Catherine told
herself, almost forgetting Hadleys name. Hadley Johnson? Catherine called out, scanning the chairs
for Hadley. That s me, a ginger haired woman told her, with warm brown eyes. At around 5 4 , Hadley
only reached Catherine s shoulder. Follow me to my office please, Catherine told the short woman.
When they finally reached her office and sat down, Catherine started to introduce herself. Hello, my
name is Catherine Rhode. But please, call me Cat. Now before we get into anything personal, I want
to make sure that we both know what will be happening. Now, every Tuesday at 2:00 pm we will have
a 45 minute session. That is our baseline, for now. I will end up changing it depending on what we
will end up discussing in a few minutes, and what progress we make after each session. And just
remember, anything you tell me is confidential, unless it puts you, me, or any other person in danger.
Are we clear so far? The woman nodded. Catherine took this as a yes and continued on. Now, putting
that aside, let s being by just doing a short introduction. We will just be getting to know each other a
bit. And where you stand with your situation. Now, can you tell me what happened

Tableau Slope Analysis
The formula for slope is y=mx+b, the slope could either be positive or negative. And we can calculate
that in Tableau. However in Tableau, it does not give you all the necessary data values to calculate the
slope. From the images of the dataset provided in the article, they only provide you with the x value
and the y intercept, but does not provide the slope. So in order to calculate the slope you must find the
slope intercept, in the case where a data is set as a data, you could still calculate the slope but must
decipher the date to the serial number that would give you the slope intercept which allows you to
calculate the slope in whole. In a case of using multiple trend lines and order by years such as let s say
2010 to 2017, the formula as shown in the image starts to look like multiplying the year by the
addition of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However the year itself is not the slope intercept, it is an ordered list. Thus if we want to have the
correct result, we must multiple the addition of week of order and intercept by the serial number of the
date data value. I think we could post the trend line equation as long as we can pull the correct data
values from the data source and format them the way we can use them in a calculation. We can then
create a calculated field with those data and drag that calculated field into the graph, and place

Analysis Of Mexican Whiteboy
Book Summary:
Mexican Whiteboy is a contemporary story that takes place in National City, California, part of the
San Diego metropolitan area. The main characters in the story are sixteen year old Danny and Uno,
who are both biracial; Danny s mother is white and his father is Mexican, and Uno s mother is
Mexican and his father is African American. Over the summer, Danny and Uno find that they have a
lot in common and even though they both go through similar hardships in life, each reveals contrasting
ways of meeting a problem. Uno tries to overcome his obstacles with courage and boldness, whereas
Danny habitually digs into his wrist until it bleeds. Danny is also an incredibly talented pitcher who
could be signed by a college recruiter. However, he always shuts down and loses concentration when
he is on the mound. His uneven pitching is a metaphor for his internal struggles. Over time, Danny s
summer experiences help him to believe in himself and find his pitch: his focus.
Connections
Mexican Whiteboy s theme is developed through the main character s growth. Over time, Danny
learns the way to overcome his obstacles and how to move forward despite the drawbacks in his life.
The author uses Uno and Danny to teach the reader a life lesson. Over the summer Uno guides Danny
to learn the way to overcome his hurdles and how to progress despite drawbacks: to believe in
himself. After reading the story, I have decided to use a black lock box that teaches the theme of the

Essay on Swifts Powerful Message in A Modest Proposal
Swifts Powerful Message in A Modest Proposal
In the Holy Bible, Jesus Christ states that there will always be poor, pathetic, struggling masses and
nothing we can do will ever completely eliminate this element. Swift also acknowledges the homeless
people, but in a different vein than Christ. In A Modest Proposal, the narrator expresses pity for the
poor, but at the same time he strives to maintain his social dominance over them. According to Swift,
the English Irish common people of the time exist in a disgusting state, a fact that he attempts to make
the English Parliament aware of. The poor that Swift refers to are Catholics, peasants, and every
homeless man, woman, and child in the entire kingdom. Swift is ... Show more content on

The last statement regarding the Pretender in Spain is a stab at Catholicism, the Pretender, being the
Catholic James II, claimant to the English crown. In fact, Catholics are the butt of many sardonic
jokes in the essay. Swift viewed Catholics as the main cause of this deplorable state, being the
principal breeders of the nation as well as our most dangerous enemies (2184). This refers to the
Catholic doctrine prohibiting birth control.
Swift estimates that there are 120,000 children of poor parents born annually. These children are a
burden on society because . . .we can neither employ them in handicraft or agriculture (2183), they
have no practical skills or uses. To deal with this problem, Swift makes his modest proposal, using a
device that is timeless in its effectiveness shock value:
[A] healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious
nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted,
baked or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve
in a fricassee or a ragout. (2182)

Branch Immaterial Officer
The position of a branch immaterial officer essentially implies that the officer holding such a position
is not attached to any specified branch of the Army (Zurick, 2010). This position also means that a
commissioned officer may fill that particular position. I really look forward to working as a branch
immaterial officer because this position provides me with an excellent opportunity to explore my
skills and abilities in a wide range of duties and activities. More significantly, this position presents
me with a superb opportunity to gain more knowledge in the different areas that I may have to work. I
feel that working in this position will therefore enable me to become an outstanding officer in my
career because I will be able to work with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One critical advantage that I can easily associate this position with is the ability to equip officers with
a wide range of skills, all of which are necessary to the success of an officer. Secondly, the position of
a branch officer provides the officers with valuable opportunities to interact with officers with
different specializations, which is critical to the development of essential leadership skills and the
accumulation of vital information or knowledge to facilitate leadership later in one s career. In
addition, this position provides officers with an exceptional opportunity to develop essential skills in
communication and teamwork (U.S. Army War College, 2012). One of the disadvantages associated
with this position is the possibility of stagnation in one s career, especially where such an officer does
not develop a positive attitude toward the position, thus failing to recognize valuable opportunities for
career development. Secondly, officer holding this position are likely to consider it to be a waste of
their time, especially when the officers have careers that involve high level of specialization in
technical fields and the officers are unable to identify key development areas to pursue. Thirdly, such
positions could lead in high levels of inefficiency especially in situations where the officers are not
motivated to work in those positions. Despite these disadvantages, I still look forward to holding the
position of a branch immaterial position because I consider the advantages to be significantly
outweighing the

John Piper Essay
The author, John Piper, is a retired pastor, author, and theologian. Piper wants his readers to know that
the goal of preaching is the glory of God (21). Piper also states that the ground of preaching is the
cross of Christ, and the gift of preaching comes from the power of the Holy Spirit (23). Piper
accomplishes his goal within both parts of the book. Part one is dedicated to why God should be
supreme in preaching, and part two is how to make God supreme in preaching. This a great book for
students, pastors, and those within the church. Piper reminds his audience that God is the focus of
preaching and nothing else. This review will summarize, review, and critique the work while
providing a conclusion. Summary The purpose and thesis is clearly defined as Piper writes, For God
aims to exalt himself, not the preacher, in this affair of preaching. And that brings us to the theme: the
supremacy of God in preaching (23). God is the goal and ground of preaching, and the means by
which men preach is the Holy Spirit (23). Piper goes on to state that he has a burden to plead for the
glory of God in preaching with the grand object of preaching to be the infinite and inexhaustible being
of God (24). Piper accomplishes his goal by dividing the book into two parts. Piper focuses on why

Man is sinful and estranged from God, and God is so holy that man cannot be reconciled to Him.
There is only one solution and that is the cross of Christ. This is what preachers must proclaim to dead
and lost sinners. That is the only hope unbelievers have. Piper states, Preaching would not be valid
without the cross (36). Preaching the cross of Christ will also keep a preacher humble because it has
the power to convict of sin so that one may turn away from sin. In other words, proclaiming the cross
of Christ is central to any preacher s

What Is Piracy In Australia
3 Piracy in Australia
3.1 Current Issues, Problems and Challenges
Enforcing anti piracy laws have always been a challenge. For instance, blocking piracy websites has
been an endless game of cat and mouse as websites keep reappearing under different domains.
Moreover, pirates can use Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to get around the blocked sites. 3.2
Current Statistics and Future Trends
According to the Australian Site Blocking Efficacy Report produced by online analysis company
INCORPO, there has been an overall piracy has declined by 25 percent year on year. The Federal
Court has ordered the closure of 65 piracy sites and over 378 related domains since the site blocking
orders were first made in December 2016 in Australia.

Chin A Nation Of Varying Size Dating
Unlike the United States, China has been a nation of varying size dating back over 4,000 years with
over 20 different ruling dynasties. Within relatively recent history of the past 175 years, China has
undergone considerable economic shifts including a heavy communist push. Many times, the
causation for these events was war. This idea was seen numerous times in ancient China; for example,
the Ming treasure ships that were sent out for monetary and military conquest were a result of a naval
and military dominance in the Eastern Hemisphere, which allowed them to gain new countries as
tributaries with ease. Although these ships were successful in their missions, they eventually had to
destroy the ships to offset the large cost of the growing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior to 1810 Western nations had been spending 350 million Mexican silver dollars on porcelain,
cotton, silks, brocades, and various grades of tea, by 1837 opium represented 57 percent of Chinese
imports, and for the fiscal period 1835 36 alone China exported 4.5 million silver dollars (England and
China: The Opium Wars, 1839 60). This demonstrates how the illegal opium trade largely imbalanced
the trade with the West. It was estimated that between four and twelve million Chinese males under
the age of 40 were addicted to the use of opium. Tensions grew rapidly following the Kowloon
Incident, where drunk British sailors from several opium clipper ships rioted in Kowloon, killing a
Chinese man and vandalizing a Buddhist temple (The First and Second Opium Wars). Lin Ze xu, the
Emperor s special emissary, ordered the seizure of opium and closing of ports. In response, the British
superintendent of trade, Charles Elliot, ordered the blockade of Pearl River, thus initiating the war.
Economically, China cut off trade with Britain and the Western nations. This reinforces the idea that
they were an isolationist country with respect to trading with the West.
The first Opium War ended with the signing of the Treaty of Nanking on August 29, 1842. Some of
the most important economic parts of the treaty included, Ceding the island of Hong Kong to Great
Britain, opened five Treaty ports to Western trade and residence, and paid nine million dollars in
reparations to the

Examples Of Medical Negligence
Medical Negligence
Negligence means the breach of a legal duty to care. In wider sense it means carelessness in a matter
in which law mandates carefulness. Negligence is a predominant theory of liability concerning
allegations of medical malpractice. Medical malpractice occurs when a health care provider deviates
from the recognized standard of care in the treatment of a patient. The standard of care is defined as
what a reasonably prudent medical provider would or would not have done under the same or similar
circumstances. Persons who offer medical advice and treatment implicitly state that they have the skill
to decide whether to take a case, to decide the treatment, and to administer that treatment. This is

Medical mistakes in the diagnosis and treatment of hospital patients are unfortunately among the most
common cases of hospital malpractice seen by malpractice lawyers. Misdiagnosis of the patient s
condition, improperly interpreted diagnostic tests, negligently performed surgeries and medication
errors are all examples of medical negligence and can all have devastating effects on patients already
admitted to a hospital with an illness or injury. This can be considered hospital malpractice.
Understaffing of hospitals and overworking of hospital employees contributes to the dangers of a
hospital visit. Long delays in emergency rooms, as well as waiting for radiology tests and delays in
performing surgery can all permit a patient s condition to worsen. In addition, patients frequently
arrive at the hospital with one type of illness, and sustain an injury or infection in the hospital that they
never had before. Often these patients are in much worse physical condition leaving the hospital than
when they went in. Sometimes patients injured by a hospital in the case of medical negligence require
extensive treatments or multiple surgeries to

wants to deliver, his purpose in writing the poem and identify techniques he used in his poem.

Every poem has a speaker, or a voice that talks to the reader. In prose, the narrator is the speaker but

What Australian Fashion Retailers Can Learn from Zara s...
What Australian fashion retailers can learn from Zara s product management process to improve their
business
Australian fashion retailer these days are facing a huge struggle by selling over priced clothes.
However, the globalization has poked Australian retailers to found themselves in the midst of an
international fashion invasion, while the markets found themselves starstruck on the attractiveness that
international retailers offer.
The condition of Australian fashion retailers have been under serviced and underwhelmed when it
comes to fashion choice, especially in affordable variety (Wells 2013). There are only numerous
fashion labels are available to dress 23 million people. In addition, the price cannot be compared to
international brands ; the volumes produced by big international retailers like Zara and H M are to
service global market, unlike Sportsgirl or Country Road who produce much smaller volumes.
This does not conclude that Australian fashion retailers will not survive in the near future, although it
does make some of them to stand on their toes. Domestic retailers are forced to turn around their
fashion clothes much faster to avoid the merchandise cannibalizing by Zara. On the other side of the
card, for being fast fashion, Zara may also meet its peak of a slower consumption. Consumers have
now become aware of the impact of fast fashion that may harm environments and work ethic. Even
though, Zara has anticipated the issues by coming up with their

Mattel s Stereotypes
Barbie has been a household name for decades and many kids around the world love and adore her
greatly. Through the years Barbie has been at the top without any challengers to bring her down.
Executives and shareholder love the way in which Barbie conquers all of the competition. Since its
inception in 1945, Mattel has been collecting market intelligence in some form (Nash Duvall, 2005).
As a man, I even understood the importance of Barbie to little girls growing up. Around Christmas,
Barbie had all the commercials appealing to the little girls and tweens. Like any superpower, including
countries and toys, there is sure to be challenges out there with someone looking to dethrone the best.
Mattel somehow felt that there was no way anyone could dethrone Barbie, or steal much of her profits.
They were quite wrong in their thinking and paid for it with their bottom line. Although Mattel has
focus groups and professionals who sampled the pool of kids to define what they like, they failed
miserably in seeing that things were changing significantly. When companies are caught on their
heels, it takes a while to react and that can cost millions. In this case, a sluggish reaction by Mattel
executives cost them in excess of 20 million, over a short period of time. Girls who wanted attitude

One of Canada s priorities in regards to Arctic Sovereignty should be to protect the Inuit people not

Due to the receding Arctic ice there is now a partially open route through the Northwest Passage
during certain parts of the year, which could pose a possible threat to Canada. According to the
Canadian Ice Service and the US National Ice Center, the passage is almost clear and more than ever
since the beginning of routine monitoring in 1972 (The Northwest Passage: In Dispute and
Navigable). The opening of this passage has now sparked the interest of the US and Russia in wanting
it to be officially deemed as international waters. The Northwest Passage is 7000km shorter than the
Panama Canal from Europe to Asia (Byers). This would mean that international shipping companies
would be able to save a great deal of time and money. There could also be the possibility to use super
tankers to transport oil which is impossible to do through the Panama Canal (Byers). There are ship
manufacturers that are currently designing and building vessels that would be able to withstand ice
(Byers). The cruise ship industry is also interested in the use of the passage (Byers). There is a Russian

History of Dth
DTH Satellite TV: Timelines to the Future While today s hot DTH marketplace makes for an exciting
story, this is an industry with a history unknown to most. It is a story of an industry which was never
supposed to exist. An industry born out of the genius of a Stanford University college professor and
publicized by ham radio conversations. An industry that defied all odds to grow from the backyards of
techies and early adapters to today s multi billion dollar first line competitor to the cable monopoly in
America. And, it is the story of an industry comprised of thousands of entrepreneurs who kept the
dream alive during long periods of traumatic political and marketplace upheaval. Come with us now

How did the world find out about Taylor Howard s invention? Well, as an amateur radio operator, he
shared his knowledge with fellow hams around the world. This was backed up with a simple how to
manual on satellite TV published by Professor Howard. As the techies began to grasp the capabilities
of satellite TV, a small group of entrepreneurs moved from hobbyist to businessperson. These pioneers
many operating out of their garages gave birth to an industry which sold approximately 5,000 systems
in 1980. Each of these systems, boasting an antenna 12 feet or more in diameter, fetched a whopping
$10,000. The journey towards the DTH industry of today had begun. 1981 1985 Dish Fever Grows
The DTH industry grew quickly from its modest beginnings. As each new system was installed, the
word of mouth advertising grew for the industry. Obviously the early DTH systems were very large,
thus the simple act of having one installed drew the attention and interest of the neighborhood. Once
non dishowners experienced the diversity of satellite delivered programming (new cable services were
now launching at a rapid pace) coupled with the unsurpassed audio and video quality offered by a
DTH system, the fever began to spread across the land. For satellite TV to move beyond the techies
and early adapters, into the mainstream consumer marketplace, three things

The Sweet Hereafter by Russell Banks Essay
The Sweet Hereafter by Russell Banks
Through our life experiences, we all have a different story or perception of an event that we envision
to be the truth. The question is, how do we know what is the truth? In the novel by Russell Banks, The
Sweet Hereafter tells a handful of stories from different points of view providing contrasting angles
and meanings to the same event. As these stories interlock with each other and intertwine together the
accounts of how each of these people cope with this tragedy, Banks helps readers explore the
complexities of grief. In Books of The Times; Small Town Life After a Huge Calamity , Michiko

Billy has lost a sense of love as death has faced him in the eyes once too many. Billy deals with his
pain by turning to alcohol abuse, he cannot deal with his mourning, Sometimes it s not as if they have
died so much as that I myself have died and become a ghost. (43). From Dolores and Billy, the central
theme is slowly revealed.
The central character in which the story takes off upon is Mitchell Stephens. He is drawn into this case
by his own anger. He has his own sense of suffering and confusion toward his own daughter. Stephens
is torn by his urge to save her and his fear that he can t possibly do so. He recalls the flashback of his
little girl as a toddler at a near death experience and him as her father while singing to her, held her
life in his own hands prepared to perform an emergency tracheotomy. And in that way, Stephens own
experience bonds together with the nightmare of those pain stricken parents: the ultimate unbearable
burden of caring for children where strength will be tested beyond its limits. Stephen s own daughter

The title of the article I chose is Paleontologists probe the majestic reptiles origin and rise writen by
Alenxandra Witze. This article talks about paleontologists excavating ancient fossils, giving them
more information about the common ancestor of dinosaurs, and how they came to rule the earth for
millions of years. The author gives us an example of what the ancestor of dinosaurs may have looked
like, by telling us that it probably looked something like a chicken . Just as there was a mass extinction
that wiped out most dinosaurs, there was a mass extinction millions years before, that gave the
dinosaurs an opportunity to rise and evolve. 252 millions years ago, between the Permian and Triassic

The oldest piece of evidence showing that the first dinosaurs showed up during the Triassic time

earliest species found between the three main branches of the dinosaur family tree: Theropods( two
legged meat eaters), Sauropodomorphs(four legged, long neck plant eaters), and Ornithiscians ( bird

In a village far away, there once lived a girl whose alias was Eira. Eira appeared to be commended by
many others, but had yet to discover a gentleman that would dote her as much as she will dote him.
Until one day her life took a turn for the preponderant. Eira was the most comely and munificent
person that any individual would ever ken in the village. As a matter of fact she caught the blue
majestic ocular perceivers of the villages most trusted adolescent male, his denomination was Aspen.
Aspen was a tall, built, 19 year old boy with an immense colossal heart. He believed that Eira was the

Planned Parenthood Essay
Planned Parenthood
Intro Andrea:
Health care is extremely important, but one form which is overlooked or often not talked about often
is sexual healthcare. Did you know these facts? Over 25 million people have died from AIDS since
1981. STDs often cause death, infertility, chronic pain, birth defects, amp; miscarriages. Everyday
12,000 American teens contract an STD. 1 in 5 Americans have genital herpes. 90% don t know it and
don t show signs. There are 750,000 teen pregnancies in the U.S. a year (2,000 a day). About 80% of
teen fathers don t stay with the mom. Every 45 seconds someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted.
How can we prevent these numbers and statistics? We can with Planned Parenthood.

If a woman is pregnant and she has an untreated STD such as hepatitis B, herpes, and syphilis, it could
also potentially spread to the fetus, potentially leading to premature birth, stillbirth, and birth defects.
Because Planned Parenthood is so affordable, many people depend on it as a reproductive health
clinic. In fact, about one half of the organization s patient s use doctors at Planned Parenthood as their
primary physicians, because they would be unable to afford anything else. Planned Parenthood also
provides accurate sexual education, and they speak about all forms of birth control, including
abstinence, and the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases. 26 states require abstinence only
education, and some argue that by not providing other information about sexual health, this increases
the chance of unintended pregnancy. In fact, the two states with the highest rates of teen pregnancy are
Mississippi and New Mexico. Mississippi does not require sex education, but when it is taught, it is
restricted to be abstinence only, and New Mexico has no requirements at all about what should be
included in sex education. By providing sexual education that encompasses all forms of birth control
and STD prevention, including abstinence, Planned Parenthood reduces the risk of unplanned
pregnancy and protects the health of women and men alike. Overall, Planned Parenthood

A Psychodynamic Treatment Approach Essay
Susanna would benefit most from a psychodynamic treatment approach, with a specific emphasis on
clarification, confrontation, and interpretation/transference interpretation. As highlighted by
McWilliams (1999), recurrent themes emerge within the therapy which constitute the client s internal
and external world. With this in mind, Susanna s internal object relations would undoubtedly unfold in
the relationship with the therapist. As Susanna evidences a lack of insight, it will be the therapist s
responsibility to clarify Susanna s experiences for her. In this view, clarification refers to the
reformulation of the patient s verbalizations to convey a more coherent view of what is being
communicated. The therapist may want to clarify what it was like in Susanna s household growing up,
and gather further information on Susanna s romantic relationships. Clarifying sentiments might
include you stated that at times you felt loved by your mother, and hated at other times, but overall do
you feel that your mother loves you? While this technique alone will not lead to therapeutic change, it
will be essential for helping Susanna develop a rapport with the therapist, and establishing a
therapeutic alliance. As borderline pathology is characterized by negative affects, and impulsive,
dangerous behavior, the therapist s ability to keep Susanna in treatment will be essential. The therapist
can do this by presenting him/herself non judgmentally, as well showing Susanna that s/he is

Essay The Elvis Craze
The Elvis Craze The public made Elvis Presley larger than life, better known than Jimi Hendrix, John
Lennon and in some cases God Himself. I cannot quite understand the Elvis craze. I don t think he was
a handsome man, I don t enjoy his music, I won t waste my time trying to sit through one of his
boring, talentless movies, and if, God forbid, I end up on my deathbed with some horrible, incurable
disease, I certainly won t make a pilgrimage to Graceland to be miraculously healed. Jack Gould
conveyed some of my feeling in the essay TV: New Phenomenon when he wrote, Mr. Presley has no

sometimes, strangers, I can t think of any of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his teen years, Elvis absorbed the cultural aspects and musical style of Country, Gospel, and
Rhythm Blues. He lived in the South, where Country music was most prevalent, it was sort of a given
for him for him to adopt the country music style. His parents were devout churchgoers, and Elvis
frequently attended the all night revivals, where he enjoyed jumping around and singing the gospel. It
is also known that Elvis spent quite a bit of time on Memphis s Beale Street, known for its Rhythm
Blues clubs. When Elvis did unoriginal songs that had been sung previously by other artists, he added
his own flavor that was made up of his mixed Gospel, Country, and R B background. His style drew
diverse crowds, and songs such as Hound Dog and Don t Be Cruel went to #1 in the Country, R B and
Pop charts. None of this justifies the deification of Elvis. After a brief stint in the US Army, Elvis
started concentrating more on movies. He made a wide variety of movies, GI Blues, Blue Hawaii,
Viva Las Vegas, and Fun in Acapulco to name a few. Although the movies were basically glorified
music videos, as they contained no real plot and a lot of singing, these movies and their songs made
millions. I honestly think that if the Elvis myth that is discussed in Griel Marcus s essay, Presliad, had
not already been put in place by Elvis s fans, the movies would not have grossed half the money,

The Pros And Cons Of A Primary Election System
A primary election is where voters in each state votes for a presidential candidate by
political party. For instance, if you are a registered Democrat within your county, then you only
vote for one democrat candidate in the primary. According the Greenberg book, the primary
system is a related trend has involved more direct elections of government officials, replacing
the old indirect methods (Greenberg 2014, pg. 286). This system is still used today to create a
direct approach to determine which candidate from each party officially won in one state, in
which a state that pledge to a specific candidate from each political party. For example, one
recent official pledge for the 2016 presidential election was in Iowa, in which Cruz won for the
Republicans in that state. Again, these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But in today s system, there is such thing a party caucuses , or
selection of delegates to national party conventions by city or countywide meetings by party

Lee 2 feature. So do we think that it is a good system? Because most politicians usually never listen
and
continuously debating, thus creating delays for a solution, I basically have no opinion on that.
However, June primaries are official elimination round, in which one candidate from each party
will run for the November election, so I think that the primary system breaks down to several
candidates into one for each party. Ultimately, the primary system is to create a two party
election, whether it is countywide, statewide, or nationwide, created a major success in the
struggle for democracy (Greenberg 2014, pg. 287). Problems do remain at the polls and also
while processing votes in the county seat, in which can create unexpected official

Seljuk Research Paper
As the power of the Abbasid caliphs diminished, a series of independent dynasties rose in various
parts of Iran, some with considerable influence and power. There were numerous overlapping
dynasties that existed in the area, similar to the ancient Greek city state concept.
Several Samanid cities had been lost to another Turkish group, the Seljuks, a clan of the Oghuz Turks,
who lived north of the Oxus River. Their leader, Tughril Beg, turned his warriors against the
Ghaznavids in Khorasan (Afghanistan). He moved south and then west, conquering but not wasting
the cities in his path.

The Tragic Characters Of Sophocles Antigone
In literature, a tragedy is a drama where the main character in the end suffers extreme sorrow because
of their mistakes or poor judgment. If characters fates are to suffer the extreme sorrows, then these
characters are tragic characters. These tragic characters, however, must follow Aristotle s principles
which include hamartia, hubris, peripeteia, anagnorisis, nemesis, and catharsis. If the character has all
six of Aristotle s principles, then the character can qualify as an Aristotelian tragic character. Two
examples of Aristotelian tragic characters are from Sophocles Greek play Antigone from the trilogy
dealing with Oedipus and his children (Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone). The two
Aristotelian tragic characters are Creon, the king of Thebes in Antigone, and Antigone herself.
Creon s hamartia, his flaw that causes his downfall, includes his stubbornness which causes him to not
listen to the opinions of others, including Tiresias, additionally, this also connects to hubris since he
also did this because of his pride. In Antigone, Creon is an Aristotelian tragic character. His six
principles are more obvious to the reader. Tiresias tries to warn Creon as to what will come if he doesn
t change his ways now, but he ignores Tiresias even though he is a prophet. Creon says Tiresias sold
his wisdom and lets out his words for hire (Sophocles 837). This means that Creon thinks that Tiresias
has come to say these things to him because someone pays Tiresias

ISTJ Character Analysis
According to my test result, ISTJ, I am a person who values loyalty, tradition, factual information, and
structure. As an ISTJ, I am hardworking, logical, extremely observant and a natural leader. My
strengths as a Duty Fulfiller include being a good listener and spender, the ability to digest
constructive criticism, to endure conflict without emotional upheaval, and to allocate punishment
when necessary. Because of this, I can achieve almost any goal I set for myself. How reassuring! On
the opposite end of the spectrum, ISTJs typically are not comfortable with expressing emotion to
others and are not naturally in tune with other people s feelings. We also dislike change, abstract
theory, and nonsensical work. I cannot agree with my supposed lack of ability to sense other people s
feeling, in fact, I find this to be contrary to one of the other ISTJ traits, the trait of being extremely
observant. I also think everyone has little patience for nonsensical work. My weaknesses include a
propensity to think I am always right (which I am) and a tendency to not show enough appreciation
for my loved ones. The later has been made abundantly clear throughout my life; my mother used to

Analysis Of Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nothing gold can stay was written by Robert Frost in 1923. Frost was a U.S. citizen. Frost did write a
different copy dealing with his fear of a second world war because he thought that might be the end of
humanity. He only gave the original to people he trusted but released this copy to the world instead.
although the original poem is about the world ending this version is about losing something new and
good so it becomes a story which makes it a narrative.
The meaning of the title of the poem is slightly hidden because it refers to the meeting of the poem,
but the meaning of the poem is hidden by figurative language. Nothing Gold can Stay could be
interpreted different from person to person however there are only 2 meanings to the title. There is no
antithesis or historical reference to this poem.
There is little repetition in this poem and there are no repeated phrases but one repeated word is gold .
This poem time frame is from spring to winter because the poem starts with the a bud then it becomes
a flower it changes then begins to die and you can arrive at this conclusion by the phrase dawn goes
down to day and nothing gold can stay. Those phrases both refer to a change whether metaphorically
or literally.
Eden is mentioned in this poem however Eden wasn t really a character in my eyes but rather a form
of personification, so kind of like mother nature but not exactly the same.
This version of the poem isn t the whole poem but rather is pieces of another different

  • 4. Comparing Brazilian Culture To American Culture Brazil is a country located in the North Eastern and Eastern section of South America. It is the fourth largest country in the world and fifth most populous, holding over 200 million people, which also accounts for one third of South America s entire population. (The World Factbook: Brazil 2018) Because of its huge size, Brazil receives millions of tourists each year; which makes it important to understand how to evaluate Brazilian culture and their way of communication. The culture of Brazil is one of the most diverse cultures in the world due to its long history of colonizers and explorers. The first European settlers to arrive in the now Brazilian area (A Brief History of Brazil, n.d.), were the Portuguese led by Pedro Cabral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first dimension in Hofstede s cultural dimensions is the power distance. This is the degree in which people in a particular culture view the unequal distribution of power as acceptable (McCornack, 2015). Brazil has a much higher belief in power distance than the United States. In Brazil there is a large power distance, which means that they believe that each person has a place in the social hierarchy, that authorities should not be challenged, that hierarchy and inequality are appropriate and actually benefit the society (Comparing Brazilian Culture to American Culture, n.d.). This is very different to American culture because America was founded on challenging the government. Our constitution was made so that we can challenge our government and keep its power in check, so the government does not abuse its power. Most Americans also believe that inequality is bad for our country. We have gone through many periods of inequality in this country and we look back on them to see what we did wrong and how we can do better now as to not repeat our mistakes. Another dimension is the uncertainty avoidance, Cultures vary in how much they tolerate and accept unpredictability (McCornack, 2015). Brazil has a high uncertainty avoidance culture. Cultures like Brazil make rigid rules and set regulations to try and cut down on uncertainty. This can be seen in their history of military leaders as leaders of the country. Brazil is a high context society, which means they put a strong emphasis on how the message is said rather than focusing on the words used alone. Examples of this include Brazilians will sometimes exaggerate a point but it will be done in a way that the others know it to be an exaggeration. Brazil is also a collectivistic culture. This means that Brazilians emphasize group identity, interpersonal harmony, and the well being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Victorian Women In Dracula Bram Stoker presents Lucy Westenra and Mina Murray Harker as the perfect victorian women. Full of innocence, chaste, and elegance. Prior to the arrival of Dracula, the audience sees Lucy as a as a voluptuous, beautiful woman. Lucy has three men asking for her hand in marriage. Writing to Mina, Lucy complains, Why can t they let a girl marry three men, or as many as want her, and save all this trouble? (81). This shows she knows she cannot say those words because it is frowned upon in Victorian culture, but it does not stop her from mentally crossing rigid social boundary. Lucy is portrayed by her physical beauty and flirtatiousness. All of her three suitors are enchanted by her beauty and words. During these letter correspondents, Mina shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Working as schoolmistress and takes an interest in her husband s work, which is unheard of during that time. Mina Murray also shows unyielding devotion to Jonathan for when she hears from him, goes to his bedside immediately to nurse him. The innocence, chaste, and purity slowly diminishes as Dracula makes his influence on both of the girls making them voluptuous beings like his three brides. As Lucy succumbs to illness she becomes more and more unlike a perfect Victorian woman prior to Dracula s impact on her. Although she becomes weaker, paler, and closer to death, the woman becomes a wantonness being who her suitors admire and are afraid of. Once was an embodiment of a perfect Victorian woman is now a monster. As she turns into a vampire, she becomes bolder and volomptuous. The un dead Lucy proclaims boldly, Come to me, Arthur. Leave these others and come to me. My arms are hungry for you. Come, and we can rest together. Come, my husband, come! (289). She was looking at a picture of her and her family, before she had run away. She could remember that night like it was yesterday. She was only 16. She had been in a serious argument with her family for a few hours about her and her future. Everyone in her family wanted her to be a doctor, to help save lives. No one had supported her decision to study the human brain, and psychology. So, that night, she packed a large backpack, and left when no one was awake. That s me, a ginger haired woman told her, with warm brown eyes. At around 5 4 , Hadley only reached Catherine s shoulder. Follow me to my office please, Catherine told the short woman. When they finally reached her office and sat down, Catherine started to introduce herself. Hello, my name is Catherine Rhode. But please, call me Cat. I will end up changing it depending on what we will end up discussing in a few minutes, and what progress we make after each session. However in Tableau, it does not give you all the necessary data values to calculate the slope. From the images of the dataset provided in the article, they only provide you with the x value and the y intercept, but does not provide the slope. So in order to calculate the slope you must find the slope intercept, in the case where a data is set as a data, you could still calculate the slope but must decipher the date to the serial number that would give you the slope intercept which allows you to calculate the slope in whole. Essay on Swifts Powerful Message in A Modest Proposal Swifts Powerful Message in A Modest Proposal In the Holy Bible, Jesus Christ states that there will always be poor, pathetic, struggling masses and nothing we can do will ever completely eliminate this element. Swift also acknowledges the homeless people, but in a different vein than Christ. In A Modest Proposal, the narrator expresses pity for the poor, but at the same time he strives to maintain his social dominance over them. (2181) The last statement regarding the Pretender in Spain is a stab at Catholicism, the Pretender, being the Catholic James II, claimant to the English crown. In fact, Catholics are the butt of many sardonic jokes in the essay. Swift viewed Catholics as the main cause of this deplorable state, being the principal breeders of the nation as well as our most dangerous enemies (2184). This refers to the Catholic doctrine prohibiting birth control. Swift estimates that there are 120,000 children of poor parents born annually. These children are a burden on society because . . .we can neither employ them in handicraft or agriculture (2183), they have no practical skills or uses. To deal with this problem, Swift makes his modest proposal, using a device that is timeless in its effectiveness shock value: [A] healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout. Piper also states that the ground of preaching is the cross of Christ, and the gift of preaching comes from the power of the Holy Spirit (23). Piper accomplishes his goal within both parts of the book. Part one is dedicated to why God should be supreme in preaching, and part two is how to make God supreme in preaching. This a great book for students, pastors, and those within the church. Piper reminds his audience that God is the focus of preaching and nothing else. This review will summarize, review, and critique the work while providing a conclusion. Within relatively recent history of the past 175 years, China has undergone considerable economic shifts including a heavy communist push. Many times, the causation for these events was war. This idea was seen numerous times in ancient China; for example, the Ming treasure ships that were sent out for monetary and military conquest were a result of a naval and military dominance in the Eastern Hemisphere, which allowed them to gain new countries as tributaries with ease. This demonstrates how the illegal opium trade largely imbalanced the trade with the West. It was estimated that between four and twelve million Chinese males under the age of 40 were addicted to the use of opium. Tensions grew rapidly following the Kowloon Incident, where drunk British sailors from several opium clipper ships rioted in Kowloon, killing a Chinese man and vandalizing a Buddhist temple (The First and Second Opium Wars). Lin Ze xu, the Emperor s special emissary, ordered the seizure of opium and closing of ports. In response, the British superintendent of trade, Charles Elliot, ordered the blockade of Pearl River, thus initiating the war. Economically, China cut off trade with Britain and the Western nations. This reinforces the idea that they were an isolationist country with respect to trading with the West. The first Opium War ended with the signing of the Treaty of Nanking on August 29, 1842. Although the movies were basically glorified music videos, as they contained no real plot and a lot of singing, these movies and their songs made millions. I honestly think that if the Elvis myth that is discussed in Griel Marcus s essay, Presliad, had not already been put in place by Elvis s fans, the movies would not have grossed half the money, ... • 30. The Pros And Cons Of A Primary Election System A primary election is where voters in each state votes for a presidential candidate by political party. For instance, if you are a registered Democrat within your county, then you only vote for one democrat candidate in the primary. According the Greenberg book, the primary system is a related trend has involved more direct elections of government officials, replacing the old indirect methods (Greenberg 2014, pg. 286). This system is still used today to create a direct approach to determine which candidate from each party officially won in one state, in which a state that pledge to a specific candidate from each political party. But in today s system, there is such thing a party caucuses , or selection of delegates to national party conventions by city or countywide meetings by party (Greenberg 2014, pg. 287). This will enhance democracy, but it is sometimes an un democratic Lee 2 feature. So do we think that it is a good system? Because most politicians usually never listen and continuously debating, thus creating delays for a solution, I basically have no opinion on that. However, June primaries are official elimination round, in which one candidate from each party will run for the November election, so I think that the primary system breaks down to several candidates into one for each party. Ultimately, the primary system is to create a two party election, whether it is countywide, statewide, or nationwide, created a major success in the struggle for democracy (Greenberg 2014, pg. 287). Problems do remain at the polls and also while processing votes in the county seat, in which can create unexpected official

  • 34. Seljuk Research Paper As the power of the Abbasid caliphs diminished, a series of independent dynasties rose in various parts of Iran, some with considerable influence and power. There were numerous overlapping dynasties that existed in the area, similar to the ancient Greek city state concept. Several Samanid cities had been lost to another Turkish group, the Seljuks, a clan of the Oghuz Turks, who lived north of the Oxus River. Their leader, Tughril Beg, turned his warriors against the Ghaznavids in Khorasan (Afghanistan). He moved south and then west, conquering but not wasting the cities in his path. In 1055 AD the caliph in Baghdad gave Tughril Beg gifts, and the title King of the East. Under Tughril Begs successor, Malik Shah (1072 92), Iran enjoyed a cultural ... They brought Abu Hamid Ghazali, one of the greatest Islamic theologians, and other eminent scholars to the Seljuk capital at Baghdad and encouraged and supported their work. A serious internal threat to the Seljuks, however, came from the Ismaili s, a secret sect with headquarters at Alamut close to Tehran. They controlled the immediate area for more than 150 years and sporadically sent out adherents to strengthen their rule by murdering important officials. The word assassins, which was applied to these murderers, developed from a European corruption of the name applied to them in Syria, hashishiyya, because folklore had it that they smoked hashish before their missions. After the death of Malik Shah in 1092, Iran once again reverted to petty dynasties. During this time, Genghis Khan brought together a number of Mongol tribes and led them on a devastating sweep through China. Then, in 1219, he turned his 700,000 forces west and quickly devastated Bukhara, Samarkand, Balkh, Merv, and Neyshabur. • 37. The Tragic Characters Of Sophocles Antigone In literature, a tragedy is a drama where the main character in the end suffers extreme sorrow because of their mistakes or poor judgment. If characters fates are to suffer the extreme sorrows, then these characters are tragic characters. These tragic characters, however, must follow Aristotle s principles which include hamartia, hubris, peripeteia, anagnorisis, nemesis, and catharsis. If the character has all six of Aristotle s principles, then the character can qualify as an Aristotelian tragic character. Two examples of Aristotelian tragic characters are from Sophocles Greek play Antigone from the trilogy dealing with Oedipus and his children (Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone). The two Aristotelian tragic characters are Creon, the king of Thebes in Antigone, and Antigone herself. Creon s hamartia, his flaw that causes his downfall, includes his stubbornness which causes him to not listen to the opinions of others, including Tiresias, additionally, this also connects to hubris since he also did this because of his pride. In Antigone, Creon is an Aristotelian tragic character. His six principles are more obvious to the reader. Tiresias tries to warn Creon as to what will come if he doesn t change his ways now, but he ignores Tiresias even though he is a prophet. Creon says Tiresias sold his wisdom and lets out his words for hire (Sophocles 837). This means that Creon thinks that Tiresias has come to say these things to him because someone pays Tiresias ... • 38. ISTJ Character Analysis According to my test result, ISTJ, I am a person who values loyalty, tradition, factual information, and structure. As an ISTJ, I am hardworking, logical, extremely observant and a natural leader. My strengths as a Duty Fulfiller include being a good listener and spender, the ability to digest constructive criticism, to endure conflict without emotional upheaval, and to allocate punishment when necessary. Because of this, I can achieve almost any goal I set for myself. How reassuring! On the opposite end of the spectrum, ISTJs typically are not comfortable with expressing emotion to others and are not naturally in tune with other people s feelings. We also dislike change, abstract theory, and nonsensical work. I cannot agree with my supposed lack of ability to sense other people s feeling, in fact, I find this to be contrary to one of the other ISTJ traits, the trait of being extremely observant. I also think everyone has little patience for nonsensical work. My weaknesses include a propensity to think I am always right (which I am) and a tendency to not show enough appreciation for my loved ones. The later has been made abundantly clear throughout my life; my mother used to berate me for not adequately praising her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 40. Analysis Of Nothing Gold Can Stay Nothing gold can stay was written by Robert Frost in 1923. Frost was a U.S. citizen. Frost did write a different copy dealing with his fear of a second world war because he thought that might be the end of humanity. He only gave the original to people he trusted but released this copy to the world instead. although the original poem is about the world ending this version is about losing something new and good so it becomes a story which makes it a narrative. The meaning of the title of the poem is slightly hidden because it refers to the meeting of the poem, but the meaning of the poem is hidden by figurative language. Nothing Gold can Stay could be interpreted different from person to person however there are only 2 meanings to the title. There is no antithesis or historical reference to this poem. There is little repetition in this poem and there are no repeated phrases but one repeated word is gold . This poem time frame is from spring to winter because the poem starts with the a bud then it becomes a flower it changes then begins to die and you can arrive at this conclusion by the phrase dawn goes down to day and nothing gold can stay. Those phrases both refer to a change whether metaphorically or literally. Eden is mentioned in this poem however Eden wasn t really a character in my eyes but rather a form of personification, so kind of like mother nature but not exactly the same. This version of the poem isn t the whole poem but rather is pieces of another different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
