My Story Of The School Year Of 2010-2011
My story begins in the school year of 2010 2011. I was a fifth grader, eleven years of age, at
Santa Fe 5/6 Center. As per requirements we had to take a music class, and I knew that I could
not sing, so an instrument it was. Most of that year I spent experimenting with wind and string
instruments to find out if I belonged in band or orchestra. I was never really interested in any of
the wind instrument so I atleast knew I was going to be in orchestra. The year ended with me being
skeptical to if I should play an instrument or not.
With the next school year approaching fast I had to make my decision. A few days before sixth
grade started, Santa Fe hosted a little music assembly for the students and their parents to come and
enjoy music and also to provide instruments for the students to try out and possibly buy. I remember
walking around a tad bit nervous looking for an instrument and that s when I heard someone start
playing the cello. I turned to look and saw a man, Mr. Stanley, who later I found out was my cello
teacher, playing the cello. He played so beautifully it inspired me. The warm, rich tone of the cello
filled the room and I remember almost everyone stopped what they were doing just to listen to him
play. I think mother saw the glint in my eyes when I first listened to the cello and she knew that
was my choice. After Mr. Stanley s little performance was done, I approached him and bombarded
him with questions. In the end Mother ended up buying a three fourths

Great Potato Famine Essay
The Irish Potato Famine occurred in 1845 and had killed tons of people. Over 750,000 people had
died and more than a million had emigrated. At the time Ireland s population was only about 8
million so this famine had devastated many families. The people of Ireland at this time were so
dependent upon the potatothat it was a main staple. The Irish would consume the potato with
almost every meal, and for some the potato was the only food that they were ever able to eat. The
famine was produced by a protist called Phytophthora infestans(P. Infestans), when it was
introduced from central highlands of Mexico. The potato blight originated from Mexico, and then
spread to America. Since Britain and Irelanddid many trades with America there... Show more

When the winters were harsher in the 1700s the Irish would use them for food in the winter,
when all other sources of food were scarce. Thanks to Ireland s weather conditions the potato
was very easily grown and could be produced in mass amounts. By the end of the 1800s the
potato was a main staple for the Irish and they would eat the potato as part of their daily lives.
Eventually, the poor people of Ireland would rely on the potato as their only food source. The
land consolidation laws forced the farmers to grow potatoes in a tightly packed space, as you
don t need much room to grow potatoes. A lot of potatoes good fit in one acre of land and could
feed a family for a long time. Since, the potatoes were all grown in one confined space the P.
Infestans had a very easy time spreading to each potato, thus resulting in P. Infestans spreading to
different fields. The pattern of consolidation, making larger farms from smaller farms, increased
competition for land and pressure to acquire land. (p. p12.nysed.gov) Land consolidation was
making the most effective use of space for a farm. So instead of growing the potatoes properly
spaced apart, they would be all jammed together in tighter rows. Also, not much land was available
so the land that was available was fought over my English landlords. This led to much political
debate in Ireland at the time, so instead of the politicians contributing

Miss Representation
Media influence is one of the most powerful economic and cultural forces today. By deciding
who gets to talk, what shapes the debate, who writes, and what is important enough to report,
media shape our understanding of who we are and what we can be. You could go to a film, switch
on the TV, tune in to the radio, turn the pages of a magazine, or surf online. Regardless of your
choice of media, you d have a good chance of encountering stereotypes that perpetuate gender
discrimination. The Miss Representation documentary film written and directed by Jennifer Siebel
Newsom exposes how mainstream media and culture contribute to the under representation of
women in positions of power and influence in America. The film shows the media s impact on...

The film features many accomplished, intelligent and powerful women and allies who are
academics, politicians, writers, journalists and television personalities. Unfortunately, the film is
largely silent on racialization, with the exception of some commentary from racialized
interviewers. The fact that the perfect image of a woman in American mainstream media is
often also white could have received more attention and critical analysis. 78% of girls hate their
bodies by the age of 15. 65% have an eating disorder. 17% cut themselves, and the number of
cosmetic surgeries quadrupled on women ages 17 from 1997 and 2007 and have increased six
fold since. Woman are 56% of the population, yet only 17% of Congress, 3% of Fortune 500
CEO s, hold only 3% of clout positions in media ( and in a staggering unreal statistic, only 1
woman is on the board of Fox News out of 15 ) and are 7% of directors and 13% of the film
writers. These are all jaw dropping statistics quoted in Miss Representation and the predominant
message we hear over and over, is that women have broken through the glass ceiling that feminism
isn t necessary and above all, that empowerment for women is by having control of a sexualized,

Transcendent Themes In Hamlet
Hamlet
Transcendent Themes in a Disinterested Age
Modernized versions of classic performances often run into the issue of being simply too long for
a modern audience to sit through, with the dangers of audiences simply being too bored in an age
where the average movie is about 110 minutes. By making decisions that appeal to the visual side
of Hamlet as opposed to altering the auditory work in any way Kenneth Branagh succeeds in
maintaining both artistic authenticity and audience in a way that has not been replicated in modern
times. Hamlet, released in 1996 starring and directed by Kenneth Branagh follows William
Shakespeare s tragedy precisely and successfully overcomes the risks by make the film more
digestible for a modern audience are with its imagery, themes, and line delivery, this success is
showcased at it s most masterful upon looking at the soliloquies that Hamlet delivers with his act 4
scene 4 soliloquy being the pinnacle of mixing the source material and modern appeal.
Hamlet, as a stage play first performed in 1609 was limited by the technology of its day in terms
of the visuals it could provide its audience, however Kenneth Branagh s version had no such
limitations and took full advantage of the progressed technology in order to engross the audience.
During the act 4 scene 4 soliloquy in which Hamlet, upon seeing prince Fortinbras, whom he
considers delicate and tender prince . (1,2) leading an army, realizes that he has been procrastinating

Career Development and Life Planning
Final Reflection
Signing up for Career Development was one of the best choices I made this semester (probably
the only one). Not only was this class informational and productive, I was able to gain a different
outlook on why I am in school. The book that we read in class, You Majored in What also helped
me to confirm why I choose the major that I am taking now. I learned things from Chaos theory to
how to succeed in an interview. The class taught me viable life lessons and helped prepared me to
face real world situations in my career.
In college, you decide what you would like to major in. After choosing a major, you take the
classes needed and hopefully get a degree right? Wrong. One day you may wake up and ask
yourself is this what you want to do for the rest of your life? This is the part you go to your
counselor and change your major. It may even come to a point where you may not even use the
degree that you spent all those years in school for in the job you have. Bottom line is life is not
linear. You might major in Biology and hope to be a Doctor but end up working for the
government. This is what Chaos theory is. Just like meteorologist predicts the weather, we as
humans try to predict where we will be 5 10 years down the line. But as we see changes on our
path, we begin to assess the situation differently and adapt to those changes. As a computer science
major, I plan on working for either

Domain Name System Case Study
The United States government announced on March 14, 2014 that they had intentions to bring to
an end their role in the supervision of the Domain name system (Post, Kehl, 2015). Known as the
IANA transition it is of a grave importance in the chronicle of the worldwide grid and the rapport
among government control and network governance. The DNS to the Internetis certainly a notable
business accomplishment, and its efficient performance has been strategic to the stunning
development of the Internet throughout the past twenty years. To ensure that the system operates
properly and to accomplish its objective of widespread name uniformity, the doings of millions of
discrete domain operatives has to be coordinated by some means.... Show more content on

The changeover in 1998 1999, was a victory and those surfing the internet barely took notice when
it occurred (Post, Kehl, 2015).
In 2001, 2003, and 2006 ICANN and NTIA would move into an agreement towards the execution
of the IANA functions. NTIA on July 2, 2012 gave ICANN a genuine reasonable procurement
procedure, the current contract of IANA functions (Ntia.doc.gov, n.d). The indenture extends
from October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2015, and has option periods of two years if the two
periods are put into practice the expiration for the agreement will be on September 30, 2019
(Ntia.doc.gov, n.d.). ICANN, as the IANA functions operator executes organizational duties allied
by means of the registries that are linked to the three main IANA functions. It is a crucial
receptacle for protocol number and name registries utilized in scores of Internet procedures.
ICANN upholds several of the numbers and codes within Internet proprieties. It organizes
distributions of Internet procedures and Autonomous System numbers to the Regional Internet
Registries, and in turn, ISP is allocated the numbers along with others within their geographical
districts. Root zone file change requests are processed by ICANN for TLDs and a Root Zone
WHOIS databank is available publicly with recent and corroborated contact data for every TLD
registry operator. ICANN, in all three cases, as the IANA functions operator,

Analyzing Seamus Heaney s Blackberry-Picking
The poem Blackberry Picking is about a young man s coming of age, and how the lesson he
learns, about picking blackberries, relates to the human realization that reality is not always
how we want it to be. Seamus Heaney illustrates this lesson by showing the narrator s unabiding
desire for the blackberries when he speaks of the lust for picking and how he was willing to go
out in the fields to pick the blackberries despite having to go where briars scratched and wet grass
bleached our boots in obvious discomfort (7 8,10). Furthermore, after the blackberries had turned
bad the narrator clearly tells us, each year I hoped they d keep, knew they would not (24). This
final bit at the end shows how the narrator matures and has come to accept... Show more content on

The first thing that is noticeable about the way Seamus wrote this poem is his use of rhyme or
lack thereof. He uses slant rhymes throughout most of the poem an example being sun and ripen
on lines one and two. This could be interpreted to portray how the speaker feels. The speaker
wants the blackberries to stay sweet despite his experience picking blackberries that would
always end up rotting. At the same time, the slant rhymes are so close to rhyming, but never fully
do creating a bittersweet feeling that symbolizes how the speaker loves the blackberries, but how
he hates how they rot. In the text this is reinforced when he says, I always felt like crying. It wasn
t fair (22). Another example of Seamus creating this bittersweet tone in the poem is how he uses
iambic pentameter throughout most of the poem, but similar to how the slant rhymes don t quite
work, on every couple of lines he breaks the meter and adds an extra syllable. This feeling is
continued throughout the poem until the second stanza when Seamus starts to correct these things.
He does this by starting to write in true iambic pentameter except for one time on line 21 when
sour adds two extra syllables sustaining the rhythm he built up, but still adding emphasis to the
word sour. Seamus connects the bitter sweet or sour tone to a line that is out of place. Eventually,
the poem is exactly what it

The Importance of Palliative Care for the Dying Patient Essay
Comfort measures are crucial for the dying patient and their loved ones. Comfort measures, not
only, include pain management but also massage, music, position changes, and heat, which are all
just as important. Palliative care is an extremely important aspect of nursing. Palliative care
focuses more broadly on improving life and providing comfort to people of all ages with serious,
chronic, and life threatening illnesses (http://www.WebMD.com). The ultimate goal of comfort
measures and palliative care is to ensure that the patient has a more relaxed and peaceful death

Supporters of palliative care feel that it is against two of the main ethical principles of healthcare to
not recognize the suffering of the terminally ill (End of Life Care: An Ethical Overview, 16).
These principles are beneficence and non maleficence (End of Life Care: An Ethical Overview,
16). Beneficence means that the healthcare provider is helping or attempting to help the patient
(End of Life Care: An Ethical Overview, 16). Non maleficence means that the healthcare provider
is not harming the patient (End of Life Care: An Ethical Overview, 16). Palliative care includes an
around the clock pain management schedule. Those who received early palliative care actually had
lower rates of depression and better quality of life than patients who received standard treatment
only (http://www.WebMD.com). According to WebMD, a study was published August 2010 in the
New England Journal of Medicine by researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital which
compared palliative care to standard care for lung cancer patients. The study found that those
patients who received palliative care lived 2.7 months longer than the patients who only received
standard care (www.http://www.WebMD.com). They stated that it could be due to more effective
treatment of depression, better management of symptoms, or less need for hospitalization (http:/

The Universal commercial Code Essay
The Universal commercial Code ( UCC) has been created to foster the free flow of commercial
activity in the United States by making laws that are both reasonable and practical. Article 3 of this
code deals with negotiable instruments. These contracts for payment serve as a substitute for actual
money and make the flow of commerce move along at a faster rate.
There are certain requirements that must be met for an item to be qualified as a negotiable
instrument. First the instrument must be in writing. This writing must also meet the permanence
and portability requirements. The writing must be made on a permanent surface (not in the sand)
and it must be portable and able to be transferred. Negotiable ... Show more content on

These types of endorsements are either blank or special, Unqualified or qualified, and nonrestrictive
or restrictive.
A blank endorsement does not specify a particular endorsee. It may consist of a mere signature.
This signature converts the order paper into bearer paper that can be redeemed by any one who has
possession of the check. A special endorsement contains the signature of the endorser along and
specifies to whom the instrument is payable.
Unqualified endorsement is a promise by the endorser to pay the holder or any subsequent endorser
the amount of the instrument if the maker drawer or accepter defaults on it. The order of the
liability is the order in which they indorse the instrument. In a qualified endorsement the endorser
includes the notation without recourse that disclaims the liability of the endorser against default of
drawer, maker or acceptor.
Most endorsements are nonrestrictive; they do not have any conditions attached to the payment of
funds. Occasionally an endorser includes some form of instruction in the endorsement. This is
called a restrictive endorsement. This may include an endorsements that are, conditional, for
collection or deposit, or in trust.
A person cannot be held contractually liable on a negotiable instrument unless his or her signature
appears on it.
One of the goals of article 3 of the UCC is to balance the rights of parties to negotiable instruments.

The Elements Of The Adversarial Trial System
Adversarial Trial System
Australian courts use the adversary system of trial when resolving disputes. It is a system based on
the notion of two adversaries battling in an arena before an impartial third party, with the emphasis
on winning.
Elements of the adversarial system
The role of the judge
The role of the parties
The role of legal Representation
Burden and standard of proof
Rules of evidence and procedure
Role of the judge
Acts as an umpire. Is independent and impartial.
Make sure both parties follow the rules of evidence and procedure.
Deem whether or not the evidence is admissible or inadmissible.
Ensures both parties have equal time to present their cases.
Responsible for instructing the jury regarding the application of law.
Determines verdict and hands down sanctions if there is no jury.
They have a passive role. They have legal knowledge and expertise but they are there to fairly
oversee and adjudicate the trial.
Role of the parties
Parties have complete control over the preparation/presentation of their case.
Parties decide which arguments they will present , which points of law should be considered and
which witnesses to call.
In criminal law, the initiating party is the prosecution. The accused has an opportunity to plead
guilty or not and then present their account.
In civil law, initiation party is the plaintiff and they can choose which court will hear their case and
if there is a jury.
Parties have an active role in the system.

Still Life With A Bunch Of Asparagus Analysis
Still Life with a Basket of Fruit and a Bunch of Asparagus was painted by Louise Moillon. The
oil painting is of a simple still life of a basket of fruits in a rather dark room with a bunch of
asparagus on the right of the basket. It was painted in 1630. To the right of the painting there is an
oil paintingtitled Panthea, Cyrus, and Araspas which was painted by Laurent de La Hyre in 1631/4.
To the left of the painting there is another oil paintingwhich is titled Landscape with Saint John on
Patmos which was painted by Nicolas Poussin in 1640. The painting makes use of implied line, the
majority of the implied lines are created by the fruit to separate it from the other fruits around each

The implied light helps to show the organic shape of the peaches especially. This is very obvious
because there is clearly a light shining on the fruit from the right side, and it can easily be
inferred that this painting is supposed to be located somewhere inside from the pure black
background and wooden table. Another point that it likely isn t natural lighting is that it looks
like the light source is really close to the fruit and radiating from one small spot, like a light
bulb. Many of the shapes in this painting are very organic, for they are, in fact, organic items.
While they may be organic, they also have a somewhat geometric shape to them. There are a lot
of perfect, or almost perfect, clusters of circles together. The fact that most of the fruit are circle
shapes gives it more of a geometric feel. The parts that are the most organic shaped are the leaves.
The mass of the basket of fruit is all implied mass. The painting itself is completely flat and there is
no actual mass to the piece other than the flat surface that it was painted

Third Party Logistic Services
2.1.2 Description of third party logistic services providers
According to various studies, Berglund et al. (1999) explain that third party logistics has several
definitions that are an activities consisting of transportation and management, and warehousing on
behalf of the shipper are carried out. Wilding and Juriado (2004) define that a company who solely
operates for the provision of logistics related single or multiple services on a contractual basis, is
called Third Party Logistics Company. Especially, the true third party logistics companies
provide a solution to the problem in the supply chain by incorporating multiple logistics services
that are managed solely or together (Schary and Larsen, 1995). Coltman, Gattorna and Whiting
(2010) suggest that third party logistics companies must create a large range of services to meet
their distinct needs. A definition by Lieb et al. (1993) explain that 3PL providers can assist the
whole processes of supply chain or just only selected activities depending on a company s
preference. It is also conclude the definition of outsourced logistics services that the employ of
external firms to provide logistics services for the whole or selected logistics activities within the
process that have traditionally been performed within an organization is the outsourced logistics.
The roles performed by the 3PL providers can be making especially to customers requirements (The
Client Company) derived from market demands and conditions.

I believe that criminals, Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers, survived their attempted escape from

sharks in the waters. In 1934, a teenage girl, 2 ten year old kids, and fitness expert, Jack Lalanne,

sonographer is? Have you ever thought of looking into someones body and look inside their
stomach? Especially at a embryon? Well here in this paper you will find out every little thing about
becoming a sonographer.
Paragraph 2; Education
The education for this career is really simple and easy. You need to have a formal education, and an
associates degree or just a certificate of a training program. but many of the employers also require
a professional certification. It may also depend on what kind of degree you want it will depend on
how many years you will like to get profession in this career but, to get the profession of being a

. Another advantage is that you will be in touch with you patients you will have to listen to what
they have to tell you. What i m actually saying about this is that many of your patients will get
emotional and you will have to be there to support them. Just as there is advantages there is also
disadvantages. One of the disadvantages is that you may have to work over time you will be
standing up 98% of the time. You might also have to work night shifts depending on what hospital
you actually get a job at. but in my opinion i feel like being a sonographer is amazing.

* Give the company its own identity. (John Gamble, 2015)
According to Shaw s Annual Return from 2013, the company mission statement is as follow:
Shaw is committed to providing customers with a communications ecosystem characterized by
leading technology, networks, content, products and services. As customers demand connectivity
and content, Shaw will deliver to them at home, and on the go, with best in class wired and Wi Fi
networks. (Shaw, 2013)
The mission statement above specifies Shaw s service, which is to provide its customers with a
communication ecosystem. Additionally, it gives the description of the ecosystem. This can be
very useful for the customers because they can see if the Shaw s services would support their needs.
Although this statement does not specify the customer groups that Shaw serve, it is easy to
conclude that the customers are everyone who requires a high quality communications ecosystem.
This mission statement also identifies the customers demands like connectivity and content, and it
explains how Shaw would please them. Furthermore, the statement employs a specific language and
gives the company its own identity.
Overall, we find that Shaw s mission statement is well written. Although it is only two sentences
long, it is clear and brief. It shows the company s direction and can serve well to the both,
customers and employees of Shaw. Most of the business s mission statements are customer oriented

Mental Illness In The Victorian Era
In the Victorian era (during the 1800s), it was a common belief that people with psychological
illnesses were adulterated by the devil. Patients with these conditions were treated imperfectly and
lived in unsanitary conditions. For example, most patients lived in cages, and were given minimal
amounts of food, much like animals in captivity. As science progressed, a new perspective formed
that challenged the original beliefs people had about mental illnesses. Not only did society make
progress in the medicineinvolved in psychological illnesses, but they also made progress in the
perception of these patients. The Dual Diagnosis, Chris Pleasance, Humbleisd.net and

Conditions in these prisons were appalling; however, soon improvements were made due to rapid
revolution as stated in the article by Humbleisd.net . This article went into deep detail and history
regarding legislature that was passed for patient suffrage and rights of mentally ill individuals with

a new act that required them to inspect the living conditions of asylums ( Humbleisd.net ). They
expected it to be a therapeutic environment, not prison like with poor ventilation, as they found it
to be. This support from the government brought about rapid change in terms of asylum life but
also societal perception of these patients with mental illnesses. This source was substantiated by

Macbeth Tomorrow And Tomorrow
Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow.... These are some of the opening words to one of the
most famous soliloquy ever written by William Shakespeare. If you are familiar with this quote
then you know that it was said by Macbeth in Act Five, Scene Five of Shakespeare s famous play
Macbeth. Macbeth shares these thoughts with the audience after his wife, Lady Macbeth, commits
suicide overcome with the guilt of killing King Duncan. Ever since the death of Duncan, Lady
Macbeth had been having trouble sleeping and getting over the guilt of planning and helping with
the murder of the old great King of Scotland. Some argue that this soliloquy is the actually point in
the play Macbeth where Macbeth himself starts to realize that he is almost done.... Show more

To a certain extent I can relate to this thought because most of us will live life and not do
anything majorly important, but even the smallest things make a difference. For the main
reason that even the smallest things in life make a difference it s easy to see that everyone
makes a difference and that life is not just a waste of time. For example if you were to walk
down the street and help someone carry their groceries to their car or into their house it might
inspire them to help someone else. The theory is that if you do something to help someone they
might feel more likely to help someone who would do the same and in the end more people
would be helping each other. This seemingly small act would argue that no one s life is a waste.
Macbeth on the other hand is arguing that everyone s life is waste because no one truly does
anything important with their lives; more specifically Macbeth views his life and the life of his
wife as wasteful because all they did was murder a perfectly good king in self interest. We see
this quote in act five, scene five, lines 24 28; Life s but a walking shadow, a poor player that
struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full
of sound and fury signifying nothing. Not only does Macbeth say that life is wasteful, he says
that it represents nothing. By this he means that everyone is living for nothing and is wasteful at
the same time, no one is important. I believe that Macbeth might have had different aspect of this
idea had he not wasted away his life by murdering someone out of self interest. Personally I think
that Macbeth would ve had a different view on this idea had he not just lost his wife, who left
behind nothing but sorrow for Macbeth

Psychological Theories, Freudian, Object Relational, And...
In this paper, the author will delineate the following developmental theories, Freudian, Object
Relational, and the main components found in Attachment. The main theorists that will be
addressed include, Sigmund Freud, John Bowlby, Mary Ainsworth, and some work of Melanie
Klein. The author will provide a detailed explanation on attachment and object relations theory and
how it can be incorporated with a client who is suffering from Anorexia Nervosa and how the
impact of development correlates with this specific clientele. As well as, examples of therapeutic
interventions utilized in a clinical setting will be explored through the course of this paper.

During the latency stage, the child/client begins to imitate their behaviors, mannerisms, speech, and
values of culture. For instance, this will initially allow the child to identify with their primary
sexual characteristics towards the corresponding parent, leading to increased sexual desires and
behaviors. Sexual latency begins from the age of six and lasts approximately five years. The child
begins to associate with the same sex orientation and is able to distinguish appropriate behaviors in
society, creating the superego. The genital phase begins from the ages of eleven to eighteen, which
comprises of increased pleasure from masturbation and is experienced more frequently than the anal
stage. Freud rationalized that all individuals are homosexual creatures; however, individuals do not
experience homosexual behaviors or relationships. Throughout this stage, individuals will begin to
formulate relationships with the opposite sex, which supersedes further development of the
superego leading to individuation and autonomy (Garcia, 1995).
In the next sections, the author will discuss the framework of attachment theory by John Bowlby
and Mary Ainsworth since both theorists worked collaboratively with attachment styles and object
relations theory. John Bowlby coined the theory of attachment based on the object relations

The Resilience Of Energy Supply Chain

In the era of globalisation supply chains are getting more lengthy and complex hence they are now
more vulnerable to disruptions. The resilience of energy supply chain by Luca Urciuoli, Sangeeta

As suggested by the article to keep reserve stocks for up to 90 days of supply. For example, in Baji
a major oil refinery was set on fire by ISIS forces who were controlling this refinery in the past.
This oil refinery was one o the major oil production companies in the country. In such cases
small safety stocks will finish in a few days, so only keeping reserve stocks may not be the
solution . World s 60 percent oil reserves are in middle east where these types of incidents occur
(Critchlow, 2015).Deciding the perfect amount of safety stock is very critical and depends on
various factors like company sales ,forecasts and transportation risks.
In case of natural disaster or a major disruptions various strategies can be used to prevent loses.
As the article suggests alternate product design can be used in case of disruption ,this approach is
practical and was used by many companies in the past. For instance, In March,2000 after a major
electronic company caught fire in Mexico both Nokia and Ericson were facing component shortage
. Instead of waiting for the product Nokia changed the product design and sourced different
component from other suppliers while Ericson on the other hand lost millions because of this

The Importance Of Eugenics In Modern Science
Understanding human genetics and makeup in modern science has aided in preventing inheritable
diseases and defects. What if the science is used to eradicate undesirable populations of people
based on their color, financial status, having children out of wedlock, disabled or mentally ill?
Eugenics, a commonly acceptable means if protecting society from the off spring of individuals
deemed inferior or dangerous, sought to improve the quality of human genetic qualities (Ko, 2016).
The poor, disabled, mentally ill, criminals and people of color were all considered inferior or
dangerous. The thought behind eugenics was to prevent persons with undesirable traits to reproduce
and allow the possibility of their undesirable genetics to be passed on to their offspring. The 1927
U.S. Supreme Court Case Buck v. Bell was based on a poor white woman, Carrie Buck, who was the
first person to be sterilized in Virginia, under the Virginia Eugenical Sterilization Act, signed into
act in 1924 (Ko, 2016). Eugenics relates to the modern biological theories of criminality. Biosocial
criminology sees the interaction between biological and the physical and social environments as
key to understanding human behavior (Schmalleger, 2016). The perspective of biosocial
criminology theory includes: genetics, heritability, hormones and brain dysfunction (Schmalleger,
2016).
The popularity of eugenics spread through the U.S. during the late 1800 s and early 1900 s
(Biological Theories, n.d.). Positive and

Examples Of Chaos And Complexity Theory
D. What are chaos and complexity theories? how might they help us do better sociology, or at least
help us have more realistic understanding of what is possible in sociology? Chaos theory can be
seen in the butterfly effect, where a small little butterfly in the States that flaps its wings and
changes the weather somewhere far away like China. The butterfly effectshows that small changes
can have massive impacts in the world. For most people it is hard for them to think that a butterfly
has so much influence, there are many other examples. Chaos can be seen in this example, where
someone forgets their car keys and runs back to get them, which results in them not hitting the deer
on the road (Gleick 1987). Complexitytheory states that structures are complex but that there is
some form of general rules. Complexity theory is a part of chaos theorywhich is shown in the quote,
chaos theory and its spin off, complexity theory, argue that relationships in complex systems, like
organizations, are nonlinear, made of interconnections and branching choices that produce
unintended consequences and render the universe unpredictable, (Tetenbaum 1998:1). Chaos and
complexity theory can influence sociologist to go back and study system that were previously
untouched. An example of chaos and complexity theory is the economy. The economy is very
complex with many moving parts and actors. The economy is filled with people selling and buying
goods at fast rates. These moving parts are

Sleep Deprivation And The Sleep Cycle
Sleeping is very important for everyone as it helps our body to rest and recover its energy.
Anyone, who doesn t sleep well, can have many disorders that we will discuss later. We have
first to explain what is a typical night`s sleep cycle then go ahead and describe how sleep
deprivation impacts your ability to learn and your health as well. Regular night`s sleep cycle can
always be described in 4 stages N1, N2 and N3. Where each stage has different information and
different description. N1 can be said for light sleep. N2 is for sleep spindles. N3 is for the delta
waves. Also there is REM and NREM sleep which defers from one stage to another. First stage
will be N1 which is light sleep. In this stage your body starts to adjust itself and the other organs
that it is about to stop working. Where at this stage the body drift between sleeping and out of
sleep and it can be easily awakened from this stage. This stage affects the eye movement as it
makes it move slowly and the muscle activity as well starts to relax. Many people said that they
experienced sudden muscle contraction. There is also a hypnagogic images as hallucinations or
vivid visual events and hypinc jerk for the knees, legs and sometimes for the whole body Second
stage is N2, which can be expressed by sleep spindles as it is accompanied by stop of eye
movement and different stuff.in this stage, the body relaxes to the extreme as it stopes the eye

Persuasive Essay About Dressing Your Children
With the snow on its way, it s time to start thinking about some family fun activities you can do
with your kids in Columbia. There s plenty of activities do when the snow is falling, like building
a snowman, having a fun and friendly snowball fight, making countless snow angels, sledding, and
so much more! However, in areas that snow and reach bitterly coldtemperatures like Columbia it s
important to dress your kids properly. Whether you have an infant, toddler, or school aged child,
you ll want to ensure they have warm enough clothing so that they can enjoy the snow and avoid a
mid sledding meltdown. If you plan on enjoying the snow and participating in winteractivities with
your children follow these simple tips to ensure your child is warm and enjoying the fun!
Add some layers
Spending most of the day outside, you and your child will be active. Dressing your child in layers
is essential for keeping your child comfortable. Plus, throughout the day, temperatures can fluctuate.
However, you can maintain your child s comfort by simply adding or removing a layer based on
the weather. When the temperatures drop and the wind chill rises, consider dressing your child with
the common three layer technique in mind:
Base Layer
A base layer is the layer of clothing that sits closest to the skin and is generally meant to be a
form of insulation. This can be a thick long sleeve shirt and sweatpants or thermal underwear. In
addition, part of the base layer is the socks. You ll want to select a brand of socks that are
breathable and that will keep your kids feet warm throughout the day. Wool is an excellent fiber to
use for base layers both socks and the under clothing and will help keep moisture away.
Middle Layer
The mid layer can be as simple as a hoodie or a sweatshirt. The middle layer is meant to provide
some extra insulation when outside, but also provides enough comfort to be worn indoors while
taking a break to eat lunch or sip delicious hot chocolate.
Outside Layer
When being active outside, the outer layer is very important for your kids. The outside layer
should consist of good quality snow pants and boots, as well as a warm winter jacket. The type of
outside layers needed can depend on what

The Pros And Cons Of Quebec Nationalism
When you hear the term Quebec Nationalism, what do you think of? A province that has a distinct
language and culture, or one that wishes to separate from Canada, or both? The issue I would like
to talk about is Quebec nationalism, is it compatible or incompatible with a pan Canadian
nationalism, or multiculturalism and should they or should they not separate from Canada. In my
opinion, while not experiencing French Canadianlife, although another of my family members has,
I feel that QuebecNationalism is not compatible with the rest of Canada, but we are the only thing
they have, and if Canada lets them go, they will not have enough resources politically, monetarily,
or military, since most of this is supplied to Quebec from the rest of Canada. Since Quebec s
defeat in the Rebellion of 1837, many Quebecois feel that they have been subject to Anglophone
domination from the rest of Canada (Lamrick, 2015). Many of the French speaking citizens are also
not willing to be compatible with the rest of Canada s multicultural society. There is no reason,
though, to throw all the other willing French Canadians that want to be compatible under the bus....

Taking a Look at Resource Utilization
The Earth is a closed system with finite resources which can be utilized; However polarized views
of the limit in the functional availability of non renewable resources exist between the
Cornucopians and Neo Malthusians. Regardless of the disparity between the views of the
Cornucopians and Neo Malthusians, both ideologies are valid in their rationalization and their
arguments are augmented with strong supporting arguments drawn from historical facts. Despite
arguments being drawn from a shared history the Cornucopians and Neo Malthusians have
developed conflicting views that share no commonalities. In essence the Cornucopians may be
described as optimist or idealists whereas the Neo Malthusians would be considered pessimists or
realists.
The Cornucopians believe that human ingenuity and technological advancements will solve global
resource issues. The combination of the discovery of new reserves, technological evolutions
providing substitutes for presently declining resources, and improved efficiencies in resource
extraction, manufacturing and other processes will continually provide solutions to emergent
issues. Furthermore, as it is believed that technology will continue to evolve and provide solutions
to satisfy the needs of the human species, the environment therefore imposes no real limits to
growth.
Cornucopians such as Sir John Maddox argue that resource depletion is an unfounded issue as
classic economic philosophies of supply and demand would result in an

The Effects Of Depression And Its Effects On People With...
In today s day and age, there are many things that can effect a person s personality and mood.
Relationships, careers, personal life, all those things are adversely effecting everyone.
Sometimes, these things can effect someone negatively and emotionally. The death of a loved
one, for example, could affect someone and cause them to feel grief. If not handled with
correctly, that grief could cause a person to sink into depression, until they would require outside
help to overcome it. Depression is a serious mental illness that effects day to day activities and
one s personal life, and serious matters need to be taken before it goes too far. Unfortunately,
experts today are more inclined to prescribe a pill to help people with depression, rather than
recommending psychotherapy, which has been proven for decades to help many individuals with
psychological problems. By now, it has gotten to a point in where drugs aren t even always being
prescribed for their intended use. Over half of the antidepressants prescribed to Americans in 2005
were for uses other than depression, which can greatly increase the already high risks to taking
psychiatric drugs (King 2012).
Antidepressants have been used for many decades and are often considered a miracle cure until a
complication arises. An antidepressant is used to treat mild to severe depression in most patients,
although many doctors prescribe it for other problems, such as eating disorders, obsessive
compulsive disorder, and other

radical changes in the manner of trading. The need for something intrinsically useful and easily
applicable in everyday dealing is clearly felt. Cash in the form of currency notes and coins makes
up just one form of the payment system. Development in banking while also giving inputs to the
further development of cash brought about a second phase in payment namely paper instructions
such as cheques and credit transfers. The requirement for greater flexibility and convenience has
led to electronic payments, and this is where plastic cards have proved their worth. It allows the
card issuers to limit the sum of money the card holders wish to spend. The spending of card
holders who have defaulted on payments or who are over their credit limit can be restricted until

House Voices Essays
House Voices
I will start with my new house. It is down the street from where my grandma and great aunt live.
The house has two levels, the main floor and the basement. There are two bedrooms, the office, the
bathroom, the living room with a fireplace, dinning room, and the kitchen on the main level. The
basement contains the laundry room, the family room, a bathroom, and a large storage area. The
house was for sale because the old woman who lived in it before us had died in the summer heat
while her air conditioner was broken. Her neighbors found her in her house. It was later
discovered that she had been dead for a few days. She was lying on the floor, in the only hallway in
the house, just beyond the bathroom door.

I started having fun with it, all over again. Then I lost interest in it. It found a new home in a box
that was placed in my closet, and forgotten. A year later, we moved into our new house. A few
months after we were fully moved in (though we still have boxes upon boxes of old stuff in the
basement, which we do not plan on unpacking for lack of shelf space).
I had started school at Topeka West High School, got settled in with everything, and on came the
homework. One night, while working on an essay for my Junior English class, I heard a faint,
annoying, sound. It sounded mechanical, but I could not make out what it was. The never ending,
irritating noise, similar to that of the neighbor s barking dog, continued long enough to let me walk
around and attempt to find it. I wandered into the storage room, where the noise continued to grow
louder and louder. Finally, I neared where the noise was the loudest, which was, of course, the old
box.
I grabbed the box and brought it around the blanket wall into my room, so I could look inside of
it at my desk. Once I had opened it, I discovered that the noise was coming from my old Talk Boy
Jr. I laughed when I noticed that an old shoe box, filled with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and
Jurassic Park figures, had shifted its position. The shoe box landed on the play button of the Talk
Boy Jr., making it repeat an old voice n static recording. I pulled the Talk Boy Jr. out of the box

Health Disparities Case Study
Health Disparities are unjust and unequal quality of health or health care outcomes which most
often occurs as a result of margin in educational level, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and
demographics. Indeed, equality in health care is far from perfect in America, there are a number
of socio ecological factors educational level, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and demographics
which commonly cause disparities between the healthcare qualities of different peoples, nations,
cultures, and other classifications. In the case of my focus area of HIV, despite deterrence efforts,
some sets of people are not only affected by HIV/AIDS, STDs, but faces higher mortality rate

This population will are prone to unhealthy eating habits, fewer doctors visit, and have higher risk
with less coverage. According to CDC s report on preventable hospitalization on rates were higher
for residents of lower income neighborhoods compared with higher income neighborhoods and

2001 2009. Additionally this group, may not have the options to select from multiple list of
providers because doctors, hospitals and health care practitioner, are often inclined to move out to
wealthier areas, in order to make profit to cover the cost of running their practice. Such actions,
ultimately, causes lower income areas to experience minimal and/or poor health care services even
though they often need it the most. Throughout the next decade, Healthy People 2020 will assess
health disparities in the U.S. population by tracking rates of illness, death, chronic conditions,

Summary Of Fridman s Definition Of A Geek
The author, Fridman, begins to form his position (defending unappreciated intellectuals) by
defining the term geek . A geek, is a street performer who entertains the public by biting off the
heads of live chickens (Lines 5 7). As a result of Fridman defining the word geek, readers realize
this word is an appalling term and society is terrible for using this term to allude an intellectually
curious person is a freak who bites the heads of live chickens. Fridman gives examples of some
of the types of people in society who would be discredited for being academically serious. At
Harvard, many students are ashamed to admit how much they study (Lines 12 14). Nerds are

Minimum Legal Drinking Age (NDLA)
The study relied on the secondary analysis of qualitative data collected from journals and previous
studies on the minimum legal drinking age (NDLA). In secondary research methodology, a
research uses existing data to answer research questions. The key advantage of using the secondary
research methodology is that it is an inexpensive method to extract already available information.
The only limitation of this method is that information collected does not exactly address the
research question as researchers must analyze qualitative data for recurring themes. The data
collected was to compare and contrast rates of alcoholconsumption, drinking and driving related
deaths of people aged 18 21. This step allowed the researchers to narrow down research

How Did Roman Roads Build Aqueducts
Aqueducts were and still are beautiful architectural structures that proved very useful in Ancient
Rome. These structures were built to last, and the arches were made out of materials like brick,
stone, and concrete. The tunnels and pipes were made of lead, ceramic, and stone. These
materials were used to build specific structures and technology. First of all, whenever they had to
have water travel across valleys or other open landscapes, the Romans built bridges made of
arches. These arches saved materials and money, as it took less to build arches than to build a
solid wall. Also, arches were much more stable than a wall and were easily repairable. It was easy
for pedestrians and vehicles to pass through the arches, too. However, when

Digital Sky Survey Research Papers
Introduction
What is SDSS?
The Sloan Digital Sky Survey is on of the most incredibly demanding and far reaching
astronomical survey ever attempted, so far having created the some of the most detailed three
dimensional maps of the Universe that have ever been made, with deep multi colour images of a
significant portion of the sky (about one third), and spectra for over three million celestial objects.
The survey plans to eventually map the entire sky in enormous detail, such as measuring the
distances to over a million galaxies and quasars, and also calculating the positions and absolute
brightness millions upon millions of celestial objects.
The SDSS attempts to answer intriguing, fundamental questions about the entire universe. As a
result of the survey scientists have been be able to see the patterns of galaxies on an
extraordinarily large scale; sheets and voids throughout the whole universe. Scientists have a
number of theories of the origins of the universe and how it evolved, with different patterns of large
scale structure giving different theories more weight. The Sloan Digital Sky Survey aims to reveal
which theories are correct, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Reasons Why Student Athletes Should Not Be Paid For...
Division 1 and Division 2 colleges provide over 2.9 billion dollars a year in scholarships to
student athletes. Student athletes should not be compensated for participating in college sports.
College athletes can receive full ride scholarships for playing their sport of choice. Is the 40,000
dollars they are receiving in scholarships not compensation; thus prompting the question is the top
tier education they are being provided with, not compensation enough? Most of the thousands of
students that participate in college sports compete for the love of the game, not for a paycheck.
Furthermore, college athletes understand that they may not compete at the pro level, in fact, only
2 % of college athletes go on to play professionally. The main part of the term student athletes is
student. Students do not go to college expecting a check at the end of every month or to land a
spot in the first round of the draft, instead the purpose is to receive an education. All things
considered, student athletes should not receive compensation for playing sports in college because
it would be almost financially impossible, some are already provided with money from
scholarships , and finally they are being provided with an excellent higher education.
Some say colleges should pay athletes because it s a full time job, scholarships aren t enough, not
all players get scholarships or because the NCAA and universities make money off of the sports
teams and players. A big reason the controversy came

  • 2. My Story Of The School Year Of 2010-2011 My story begins in the school year of 2010 2011. I was a fifth grader, eleven years of age, at Santa Fe 5/6 Center. As per requirements we had to take a music class, and I knew that I could not sing, so an instrument it was. Most of that year I spent experimenting with wind and string instruments to find out if I belonged in band or orchestra. I was never really interested in any of the wind instrument so I atleast knew I was going to be in orchestra. The year ended with me being skeptical to if I should play an instrument or not. With the next school year approaching fast I had to make my decision. A few days before sixth grade started, Santa Fe hosted a little music assembly for the students and their parents to come and enjoy music and also to provide instruments for the students to try out and possibly buy. I remember walking around a tad bit nervous looking for an instrument and that s when I heard someone start playing the cello. I turned to look and saw a man, Mr. Stanley, who later I found out was my cello teacher, playing the cello. He played so beautifully it inspired me. The warm, rich tone of the cello filled the room and I remember almost everyone stopped what they were doing just to listen to him play. I think mother saw the glint in my eyes when I first listened to the cello and she knew that was my choice. After Mr. Stanley s little performance was done, I approached him and bombarded him with questions. In the end Mother ended up buying a three fourths ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Great Potato Famine Essay The Irish Potato Famine occurred in 1845 and had killed tons of people. Over 750,000 people had died and more than a million had emigrated. At the time Ireland s population was only about 8 million so this famine had devastated many families. The people of Ireland at this time were so dependent upon the potatothat it was a main staple. The Irish would consume the potato with almost every meal, and for some the potato was the only food that they were ever able to eat. The famine was produced by a protist called Phytophthora infestans(P. Infestans), when it was introduced from central highlands of Mexico. The potato blight originated from Mexico, and then spread to America. Since Britain and Irelanddid many trades with America there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the winters were harsher in the 1700s the Irish would use them for food in the winter, when all other sources of food were scarce. Thanks to Ireland s weather conditions the potato was very easily grown and could be produced in mass amounts. By the end of the 1800s the potato was a main staple for the Irish and they would eat the potato as part of their daily lives. Eventually, the poor people of Ireland would rely on the potato as their only food source. The land consolidation laws forced the farmers to grow potatoes in a tightly packed space, as you don t need much room to grow potatoes. A lot of potatoes good fit in one acre of land and could feed a family for a long time. Since, the potatoes were all grown in one confined space the P. Infestans had a very easy time spreading to each potato, thus resulting in P. Infestans spreading to different fields. The pattern of consolidation, making larger farms from smaller farms, increased competition for land and pressure to acquire land. (p. p12.nysed.gov) Land consolidation was making the most effective use of space for a farm. So instead of growing the potatoes properly spaced apart, they would be all jammed together in tighter rows. Also, not much land was available so the land that was available was fought over my English landlords. This led to much political debate in Ireland at the time, so instead of the politicians contributing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Miss Representation Media influence is one of the most powerful economic and cultural forces today. By deciding who gets to talk, what shapes the debate, who writes, and what is important enough to report, media shape our understanding of who we are and what we can be. You could go to a film, switch on the TV, tune in to the radio, turn the pages of a magazine, or surf online. Regardless of your choice of media, you d have a good chance of encountering stereotypes that perpetuate gender discrimination. The film features many accomplished, intelligent and powerful women and allies who are academics, politicians, writers, journalists and television personalities. Unfortunately, the film is largely silent on racialization, with the exception of some commentary from racialized interviewers. The fact that the perfect image of a woman in American mainstream media is often also white could have received more attention and critical analysis. 78% of girls hate their bodies by the age of 15. 65% have an eating disorder. 17% cut themselves, and the number of cosmetic surgeries quadrupled on women ages 17 from 1997 and 2007 and have increased six fold since. • 5. Transcendent Themes In Hamlet Hamlet Transcendent Themes in a Disinterested Age Modernized versions of classic performances often run into the issue of being simply too long for a modern audience to sit through, with the dangers of audiences simply being too bored in an age where the average movie is about 110 minutes. By making decisions that appeal to the visual side of Hamlet as opposed to altering the auditory work in any way Kenneth Branagh succeeds in maintaining both artistic authenticity and audience in a way that has not been replicated in modern times. Hamlet, released in 1996 starring and directed by Kenneth Branagh follows William Shakespeare s tragedy precisely and successfully overcomes the risks by make the film more digestible for a modern audience are with its imagery, themes, and line delivery, this success is showcased at it s most masterful upon looking at the soliloquies that Hamlet delivers with his act 4 scene 4 soliloquy being the pinnacle of mixing the source material and modern appeal. Hamlet, as a stage play first performed in 1609 was limited by the technology of its day in terms of the visuals it could provide its audience, however Kenneth Branagh s version had no such limitations and took full advantage of the progressed technology in order to engross the audience. Career Development And Life Planning Mohamed Ali 12/07/15 Ms. Menendez Career Development and Life Planning Final Reflection Signing up for Career Development was one of the best choices I made this semester (probably the only one). Not only was this class informational and productive, I was able to gain a different outlook on why I am in school. The book that we read in class, You Majored in What also helped me to confirm why I choose the major that I am taking now. I learned things from Chaos theory to how to succeed in an interview. The class taught me viable life lessons and helped prepared me to face real world situations in my career. In college, you decide what you would like to major in. After choosing a major, you take the classes needed and hopefully get a degree right? Wrong. One day you may wake up and ask yourself is this what you want to do for the rest of your life? This is the part you go to your counselor and change your major. It may even come to a point where you may not even use the degree that you spent all those years in school for in the job you have. Bottom line is life is not linear. You might major in Biology and hope to be a Doctor but end up working for the government. This is what Chaos theory is. Just like meteorologist predicts the weather, we as humans try to predict where we will be 5 10 years down the line. But as we see changes on our path, we begin to assess the situation differently and adapt to those changes. As a computer science major, I plan on working for either ... • 8. Analyzing Seamus Heaney s Blackberry-Picking The poem Blackberry Picking is about a young man s coming of age, and how the lesson he learns, about picking blackberries, relates to the human realization that reality is not always how we want it to be. Seamus Heaney illustrates this lesson by showing the narrator s unabiding desire for the blackberries when he speaks of the lust for picking and how he was willing to go out in the fields to pick the blackberries despite having to go where briars scratched and wet grass bleached our boots in obvious discomfort (7 8,10). Furthermore, after the blackberries had turned bad the narrator clearly tells us, each year I hoped they d keep, knew they would not (24). This final bit at the end shows how the narrator matures and has come to accept... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first thing that is noticeable about the way Seamus wrote this poem is his use of rhyme or lack thereof. He uses slant rhymes throughout most of the poem an example being sun and ripen on lines one and two. This could be interpreted to portray how the speaker feels. The speaker wants the blackberries to stay sweet despite his experience picking blackberries that would always end up rotting. At the same time, the slant rhymes are so close to rhyming, but never fully do creating a bittersweet feeling that symbolizes how the speaker loves the blackberries, but how he hates how they rot. In the text this is reinforced when he says, I always felt like crying. It wasn t fair (22). Another example of Seamus creating this bittersweet tone in the poem is how he uses iambic pentameter throughout most of the poem, but similar to how the slant rhymes don t quite work, on every couple of lines he breaks the meter and adds an extra syllable. This feeling is continued throughout the poem until the second stanza when Seamus starts to correct these things. He does this by starting to write in true iambic pentameter except for one time on line 21 when sour adds two extra syllables sustaining the rhythm he built up, but still adding emphasis to the word sour. Seamus connects the bitter sweet or sour tone to a line that is out of place. Eventually, the poem is exactly what it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Beneficence means that the healthcare provider is helping or attempting to help the patient (End of Life Care: An Ethical Overview, 16). There are certain requirements that must be met for an item to be qualified as a negotiable instrument. First the instrument must be in writing. A special endorsement contains the signature of the endorser along and specifies to whom the instrument is payable. Unqualified endorsement is a promise by the endorser to pay the holder or any subsequent endorser the amount of the instrument if the maker drawer or accepter defaults on it. The order of the liability is the order in which they indorse the instrument. In a qualified endorsement the endorser includes the notation without recourse that disclaims the liability of the endorser against default of drawer, maker or acceptor. Another point that it likely isn t natural lighting is that it looks like the light source is really close to the fruit and radiating from one small spot, like a light bulb. Many of the shapes in this painting are very organic, for they are, in fact, organic items. While they may be organic, they also have a somewhat geometric shape to them. There are a lot of perfect, or almost perfect, clusters of circles together. The fact that most of the fruit are circle shapes gives it more of a geometric feel. (John Gamble, 2015) According to Shaw s Annual Return from 2013, the company mission statement is as follow: Shaw is committed to providing customers with a communications ecosystem characterized by leading technology, networks, content, products and services. As customers demand connectivity and content, Shaw will deliver to them at home, and on the go, with best in class wired and Wi Fi networks. (Shaw, 2013) The mission statement above specifies Shaw s service, which is to provide its customers with a communication ecosystem. Additionally, it gives the description of the ecosystem. This can be very useful for the customers because they can see if the Shaw s services would support their needs. Although this statement does not specify the customer groups that Shaw serve, it is easy to conclude that the customers are everyone who requires a high quality communications ecosystem. This mission statement also identifies the customers demands like connectivity and content, and it explains how Shaw would please them. Furthermore, the statement employs a specific language and gives the company its own identity. Overall, we find that Shaw s mission statement is well written. Although it is only two sentences long, it is clear and brief. It shows the company s direction and can serve well to the both, customers and employees of Shaw. • 20. Mental Illness In The Victorian Era In the Victorian era (during the 1800s), it was a common belief that people with psychological illnesses were adulterated by the devil. Patients with these conditions were treated imperfectly and lived in unsanitary conditions. For example, most patients lived in cages, and were given minimal amounts of food, much like animals in captivity. As science progressed, a new perspective formed that challenged the original beliefs people had about mental illnesses. Not only did society make progress in the medicineinvolved in psychological illnesses, but they also made progress in the perception of these patients. Conditions in these prisons were appalling; however, soon improvements were made due to rapid revolution as stated in the article by Humbleisd.net . This article went into deep detail and history regarding legislature that was passed for patient suffrage and rights of mentally ill individuals with serious psychological conditions. A turning point came when, in 1841, the UK government passed a new act that required them to inspect the living conditions of asylums ( Humbleisd.net ). They expected it to be a therapeutic environment, not prison like with poor ventilation, as they found it to be. This support from the government brought about rapid change in terms of asylum life but also societal perception of these patients with mental illnesses. This source was substantiated by the article written by the VictorianEra.org website that covers the many advancements in the fields of science and medicine during the Victorian era. There was a pervading hopefulness among all academicians and doctors and writers. For the very first time, religion was relegated to the second place as far as diagnosis and treatments were concerned ( VictorianEra.org ). • 21. Macbeth Tomorrow And Tomorrow Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow.... These are some of the opening words to one of the most famous soliloquy ever written by William Shakespeare. If you are familiar with this quote then you know that it was said by Macbeth in Act Five, Scene Five of Shakespeare s famous play Macbeth. Macbeth shares these thoughts with the audience after his wife, Lady Macbeth, commits suicide overcome with the guilt of killing King Duncan. Ever since the death of Duncan, Lady Macbeth had been having trouble sleeping and getting over the guilt of planning and helping with the murder of the old great King of Scotland. Some argue that this soliloquy is the actually point in the play Macbeth where Macbeth himself starts to realize that he is almost done.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To a certain extent I can relate to this thought because most of us will live life and not do anything majorly important, but even the smallest things make a difference. For the main reason that even the smallest things in life make a difference it s easy to see that everyone makes a difference and that life is not just a waste of time. For example if you were to walk down the street and help someone carry their groceries to their car or into their house it might inspire them to help someone else. The theory is that if you do something to help someone they might feel more likely to help someone who would do the same and in the end more people would be helping each other. This seemingly small act would argue that no one s life is a waste. Macbeth on the other hand is arguing that everyone s life is waste because no one truly does anything important with their lives; more specifically Macbeth views his life and the life of his wife as wasteful because all they did was murder a perfectly good king in self interest. We see this quote in act five, scene five, lines 24 28; Life s but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing. Not only does Macbeth say that life is wasteful, he says that it represents nothing. By this he means that everyone is living for nothing and is wasteful at the same time, no one is important. I believe that Macbeth might have had different aspect of this idea had he not wasted away his life by murdering someone out of self interest. Personally I think that Macbeth would ve had a different view on this idea had he not just lost his wife, who left behind nothing but sorrow for Macbeth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the latency stage, the child/client begins to imitate their behaviors, mannerisms, speech, and values of culture. For instance, this will initially allow the child to identify with their primary sexual characteristics towards the corresponding parent, leading to increased sexual desires and behaviors. Sexual latency begins from the age of six and lasts approximately five years. The child begins to associate with the same sex orientation and is able to distinguish appropriate behaviors in society, creating the superego. The genital phase begins from the ages of eleven to eighteen, which comprises of increased pleasure from masturbation and is experienced more frequently than the anal stage. Freud rationalized that all individuals are homosexual creatures; however, individuals do not experience homosexual behaviors or relationships. Throughout this stage, individuals will begin to formulate relationships with the opposite sex, which supersedes further development of the superego leading to individuation and autonomy (Garcia, 1995). In the next sections, the author will discuss the framework of attachment theory by John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth since both theorists worked collaboratively with attachment styles and object relations theory. What if the science is used to eradicate undesirable populations of people based on their color, financial status, having children out of wedlock, disabled or mentally ill? Eugenics, a commonly acceptable means if protecting society from the off spring of individuals deemed inferior or dangerous, sought to improve the quality of human genetic qualities (Ko, 2016). The poor, disabled, mentally ill, criminals and people of color were all considered inferior or dangerous. The thought behind eugenics was to prevent persons with undesirable traits to reproduce and allow the possibility of their undesirable genetics to be passed on to their offspring. The 1927 U.S. Supreme Court Case Buck v. Bell was based on a poor white woman, Carrie Buck, who was the first person to be sterilized in Virginia, under the Virginia Eugenical Sterilization Act, signed into act in 1924 (Ko, 2016). Eugenics relates to the modern biological theories of criminality. Biosocial criminology sees the interaction between biological and the physical and social environments as key to understanding human behavior (Schmalleger, 2016). The perspective of biosocial criminology theory includes: genetics, heritability, hormones and brain dysfunction (Schmalleger, 2016). The popularity of eugenics spread through the U.S. during the late 1800 s and early 1900 s (Biological Theories, n.d.). Positive and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chaos theory can be seen in the butterfly effect, where a small little butterfly in the States that flaps its wings and changes the weather somewhere far away like China. The butterfly effectshows that small changes can have massive impacts in the world. For most people it is hard for them to think that a butterfly has so much influence, there are many other examples. Chaos can be seen in this example, where someone forgets their car keys and runs back to get them, which results in them not hitting the deer on the road (Gleick 1987). The death of a loved one, for example, could affect someone and cause them to feel grief. If not handled with correctly, that grief could cause a person to sink into depression, until they would require outside help to overcome it. Depression is a serious mental illness that effects day to day activities and one s personal life, and serious matters need to be taken before it goes too far. Unfortunately, experts today are more inclined to prescribe a pill to help people with depression, rather than recommending psychotherapy, which has been proven for decades to help many individuals with psychological problems. By now, it has gotten to a point in where drugs aren t even always being prescribed for their intended use. Over half of the antidepressants prescribed to Americans in 2005 were for uses other than depression, which can greatly increase the already high risks to taking psychiatric drugs (King 2012). • 42. House Voices Essays House Voices I will start with my new house. It is down the street from where my grandma and great aunt live. The house has two levels, the main floor and the basement. There are two bedrooms, the office, the bathroom, the living room with a fireplace, dinning room, and the kitchen on the main level. The basement contains the laundry room, the family room, a bathroom, and a large storage area. The house was for sale because the old woman who lived in it before us had died in the summer heat while her air conditioner was broken. Her neighbors found her in her house. It was later discovered that she had been dead for a few days. She was lying on the floor, in the only hallway in the house, just beyond the bathroom door. I have ... A year later, we moved into our new house. A few months after we were fully moved in (though we still have boxes upon boxes of old stuff in the basement, which we do not plan on unpacking for lack of shelf space). I had started school at Topeka West High School, got settled in with everything, and on came the homework. One night, while working on an essay for my Junior English class, I heard a faint, annoying, sound. It sounded mechanical, but I could not make out what it was. The never ending, irritating noise, similar to that of the neighbor s barking dog, continued long enough to let me walk around and attempt to find it. I wandered into the storage room, where the noise continued to grow louder and louder. Finally, I neared where the noise was the loudest, which was, of course, the old box. I grabbed the box and brought it around the blanket wall into my room, so I could look inside of it at my desk. Once I had opened it, I discovered that the noise was coming from my old Talk Boy Jr. I laughed when I noticed that an old shoe box, filled with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Jurassic Park figures, had shifted its position. The shoe box landed on the play button of the Talk Boy Jr., making it repeat an old voice n static recording. I pulled the Talk Boy Jr. out of the box ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In secondary research methodology, a research uses existing data to answer research questions. The key advantage of using the secondary research methodology is that it is an inexpensive method to extract already available information. The only limitation of this method is that information collected does not exactly address the research question as researchers must analyze qualitative data for recurring themes. These structures were built to last, and the arches were made out of materials like brick, stone, and concrete. The tunnels and pipes were made of lead, ceramic, and stone. These materials were used to build specific structures and technology. First of all, whenever they had to have water travel across valleys or other open landscapes, the Romans built bridges made of arches. These arches saved materials and money, as it took less to build arches than to build a solid wall. Also, arches were much more stable than a wall and were easily repairable. It was easy for pedestrians and vehicles to pass through the arches, too. However, when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Digital Sky Survey Research Papers Introduction What is SDSS? The Sloan Digital Sky Survey is on of the most incredibly demanding and far reaching astronomical survey ever attempted, so far having created the some of the most detailed three dimensional maps of the Universe that have ever been made, with deep multi colour images of a significant portion of the sky (about one third), and spectra for over three million celestial objects. The survey plans to eventually map the entire sky in enormous detail, such as measuring the distances to over a million galaxies and quasars, and also calculating the positions and absolute brightness millions upon millions of celestial objects. The SDSS attempts to answer intriguing, fundamental questions about the entire universe. As a result of the survey scientists have been be able to see the patterns of galaxies on an extraordinarily large scale; sheets and voids throughout the whole universe. Scientists have a number of theories of the origins of the universe and how it evolved, with different patterns of large scale structure giving different theories more weight. • 49. Reasons Why Student Athletes Should Not Be Paid For... Division 1 and Division 2 colleges provide over 2.9 billion dollars a year in scholarships to student athletes. Student athletes should not be compensated for participating in college sports. College athletes can receive full ride scholarships for playing their sport of choice. Is the 40,000 dollars they are receiving in scholarships not compensation; thus prompting the question is the top tier education they are being provided with, not compensation enough? Most of the thousands of students that participate in college sports compete for the love of the game, not for a paycheck. Furthermore, college athletes understand that they may not compete at the pro level, in fact, only 2 % of college athletes go on to play professionally. The main part of the term student athletes is student. Students do not go to college expecting a check at the end of every month or to land a spot in the first round of the draft, instead the purpose is to receive an education. All things considered, student athletes should not receive compensation for playing sports in college because it would be almost financially impossible, some are already provided with money from scholarships , and finally they are being provided with an excellent higher education. Some say colleges should pay athletes because it s a full time job, scholarships aren t enough, not all players get scholarships or because the NCAA and universities make money off of the sports teams and players.
