Trait Anxiety Disorders
Trait anxiety is characterized as the propensity of a person to stress and feel restless,
to indicate inordinate reaction under anxiety, and to give serious energy responses
free of ecological conditions. (Д°kizler, 1993).
Characteristics such as anxiety, fear and worry are necessary and useful mechanisms
that we possess inherently and that warn and protect us from threats of the external
world. However, when this anxiety, fears, and worries are severe and out of control,
there emerge a group of psychiatric disorders called anxiety disorders, which
influence and restrict the individuals lives. (Г–ztГјrk, 2008)

Relatable Characters In Pride And Prejudice Essay
Arianne E. Maghirang 11 Dempsey Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice had drawn a
clear picture of Georgian England. It is a story of love and marriage intersected by
society and social ranks. She illustrates the convolutions of the past, when it was
govern by strict etiquettes; divided by social ranks and moreover the significant roles
of women in the society. I believed that Jane had beautifully sketch relatable
characters, and showed me how they live by with these standards. She subtly points
out the struggles of having these rules and standards. The story is interesting the
minute it unfolds, dig a little deeper you will find each character and their struggles
interesting and relatable. Throughout the book has an air of rigidness shared among...

These social ranks are determined by the connections of one s family towards
other strong and powerful families. As expected the greater the rank, the greater
the respect and power an individual has. A character that is not afraid to show off
her power and rank is Lady Catherine de Borough. Lady Catherine is the aunt of
Mr. Darcy, a daughter of an Earl and a wife of a knight. She is proud of what she
is, and is not afraid to assert her opinions. The lady s air of importance and
immense influence among the other characters, which easily conform to her, gives
us a clear picture of the power she has because of her title. She believes she is the
sun, and that all the other celestial bodies are revolving around her. Mr. Collins,
Elizabeth s distant cousin, is an extreme example of such conformity to her rank.
Even though, he is belittled by the lady, but he continues to tribute her. What I have
uncovered is that these ranks and titles is the reason why there are injustice
structures. It is also the basis of division among classes and discrimination. In
summary, the book showed how important these ranks and society s behavior towards

KASHMIRI COLLECTION
Kashida of Kashmir
Kashmiri embroidery is well known for the beauty of its colour, texture, design and
technique. Probably, the best known Indian embroidery is the Kashida of Kashmir
. This embroidery is revealed in shawls and in cottage industry done by the
members of families in Srinagar. Kashmiri embroidery is practiced by men and it
is essentially a commercial craft.| | According to Ramala S. Dongekery, the shawl
industry in Kashmir was introduced by Zain ul Abedin. Akbar was also
responsible for introducing a new type of shawl the Dowshala meaning Twin
shawl . In this two similar shawls were woven together, then sewn back to back. So
the under surface of the shawls were not visible. Khwaja Yusuf during his stay in
Kashmir got the idea of producing shawls with help of Rafoogar . These were later
known as Amli Shawls . Amli shawls were plain woven shawls,
Charles Dickens Biography
He is living proof of childhood corruption and portrays himself as his young,
mischievous, and perplexed characters Oliver Twist and David Copperfield. He
proves that he is a product of the Victorian era as he brings attention to the childhood
cruelty, the less fortunate in an English society, and the unwealthy dysfunctional
families of the early Victorian time period. Charles Dickensreflects these and other
issues as he brings to life the realism of writing. While others were writing about the
way things should be, rather than the way things were, Dickens was challenging
these ideas, and argued that paupers and criminals were not evil at birth. This was an
act of rebellion, for he in fact was showing the Victorian middle class generation...

In the Victorian era, poverty became due to many reasons; a population increase,
the search of employment, and a depressing state of the shortage of housing. All of
these points had a direct impact to why there was the less fortunate in an English
society. The nineteenth century saw a huge growth in the population of Great
Britain, and this brought the poverty line lower and lower in cities such as
London. Dickens, being affected by this, had a great impact on helping the less
fortunate in the Victorian time period by bringing to life the realism of the
problems that the paupers, criminals, and just plain poor people had. He did this
through showing how the wealthy treated the poor with no respect and with cruelty
through his characters such as Mr. Bumble and Mrs. Sowerberry in Oliver Twist.
Although, Dickens brings attention to how not all upper or middle class people
were always cruel to the poor, through his characters in Oliver Twist such as Mr.
Sowerberry, who was quite kind to Oliver and was uneasy about being cross with
him. Along with poverty being such an issue, there were also the unwealthy
dysfunctional families of the Victorian time period.
Charles Dickens grew up in a home where money was never a concern, until his
father went bankrupt and he was abandoned by his family which ultimately led to
Dickens being a poor orphaned boy. Dickens s dysfunctional family must have led to
such families as
The Ethics Of Business Ethics
Business ethics refers to the consideration of moral decisions and responsibilities in
the process of operating a business. Business ethics, practiced throughout the deepest
layers of a company, become the heart and soul of the company s culture and can
mean the difference between success and failure. Values drive behavior and therefore
need to be consciously stated, but they also need to be affirmed by actions. Ethical
business environments are created with foundations of integrity, accountability and
commitment. Personal/Professional Application Integrity is defined as following
your moral or ethical convictions and doing the right thing in all circumstances, even
if no one is watching you. Having integrity means you are true to yourself and would
do nothing that demeans or dishonors you. When employees are asked what they
want from leaders it is integrity. Qualities change across culture and time, but what
people say they want most in American society is integrity. When people are asked to
define integrity, the word they mention most frequently is honesty. The leader with
integrity always tells the truth as he or she believes it to be. Think about the best
leader you have ever had; she or he probably had integrity. First and foremost, people
want a leader they can trust. Ask yourself whether you have a reputation for integrity.
(Manning 6) Integrity can be broken down into sub components: Honesty honesty

Hong Kong and Its Moving Identity

And the Moving Identity of Hong Kong
In the book Hong Kong Cinema: Coloniser, motherland and self , the author Yingchi
Chu describes Hong Kong as [a] nation without sovereignty (98). It is because of the
unique and complicating historical experience that Hong Kong people have been
going through since its early beginning. From the early time until before 1842, Hong
Kong was considered to be a territory of China. In 1842, China officially ceded
Hong Kong to the British after the First Opium War due to the rise of British s
power; and from that moment to 1997, Hong Kong had been remaining as a British s
colony and experiencing the very distinct cultural development and social changes.

In addition, the sense of disorientation is also displayed through the way the past
story and present story are narrated. The story of Fleur and the story of the present
couple are not presented in linear time from past to present but in the way that the
past and the present are intermingled and its boundary is blurred. Also, the story of
Fleur is in the past tense but it is an unfinished story which keeps presenting and
haunting the present. The confusion projected by the merger of past and present
clearly speaks to the feeling of disorientation of Hong Kong people when facing
with their dramatic future changes. Experiencing that undesirable feelings, Hong
Kong people yearn for their past as a mean of escaping from the awful reality.
Their longing to the past is expressed in the juxtaposition of 1930s Hong Kong and
1980s Hong Kong. As mention above, the past story of Fleur and the story of
present couple, Yuan Ting and Chu, are intermingled. One of the purposes of the
juxtaposition is to highlight and emphasize the world of difference between two
versions of Hong Kong. The society of Hong Kong in 1980s is depicted through
the life of the present couple who are both so occupied with their works; they do
not even have enough time for work, let alone time for pleasure and relax. The first
scene of Ting and Chu where Chu is in haste to her work so she

Abstract
This paper explores related research in aspects of language acquisition, specifically,
reading instruction and its effect on students who live in low socioeconomic
environments. We will review the methods of explicit phonics and whole language to
examine what, if any, is the more advantageous method of reading instruction for
students who live in poverty. The purpose of this literature review is to investigate the
impacts of specific reading instruction on the literacy development of children and
how socioeconomics restricts these impacts. The research reviewed was collected
from peer review journals using the Central Search feature on the UCO Chambers
Library website. The majority of the researcher s findings came from EBSCOhost
Education Research Complete and JSTOR: Journal Storage. Given the findings of
this literature review, research suggests that explicit phonics instruction, when
embedded in a whole language classroom, promotes growth in literacy skills among
young children. Research suggests that multisensory phonics, based on Orton
Gillingham Approach, promotes literacy growth for students who are at risk,
however, its impact within a whole language classroom are undetermined. This
literature review suggests that multisensory phonics should be utilized in a whole
language classroom to determine if its use promotes growth in
The New Face of Black Feminine Beauty Essay
The New Face of Black Feminine Beauty
Since the early 1900s, Black women have had a fascination with their hair. More
explicitly, they have had a fascination with straightening their hair. The need to be
accepted by the majority class has caused them to do so. Though the image of straight
hair as being better than coarse hair still hasn t left the Black community, there has
been a surge of non straight hairstyles since the nineteen sixties. Wearing more
natural hairstyles, which ironically enough include weaves and hair extensions has
been considered to be more empowered and more enlightened. However, this image
comes with a price, and though it appears the natural hairstyle movement has
advanced Black women, it has actually set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The model is drawn because a real life model would be perceived to be fake, air
brushed, etc. The colorlessness of the drawing creates the scene of a universal Black
woman. Also, the drawn picture doesn t get into the light/dark color complex. The
light/dark color complex is another ideological problem in the Black community.
Lighter Blacks (especially women) were perceived to be more attractive, more
intelligent, and more acceptable to the White community. Darker skinned Blacks
were perceived to be the opposite. This was deposited upon the culture during the
slave era. Hair texture also became an issue within the Black community, as lighter,
straighter hair was perceived to be nicer, and coarse, thick hair was perceived to be
bad, ugly. The afro movement in the 60 s challenged this ideology. In the 60 s, natural
hair meaning coarse and thick, began to signify intelligence, Black power, and
resistance to the majority culture, overall enlightenment. This image was reborn in
the late 1990s. Newer options for natural hairstyles and the increasing acceptance of
dreadlocks reinitiated a type of anti chemically relaxed hair movement. Refusing to
put chemicals in one s hair (chemicals referring to those used to straighten one s hair)
meant refusing to cater to the slave mentality of light skinned, straight haired beauty.
However, the connection between natural hair and soulful, enlightened, etc, only

Argumentative Essay On Sex Education
Transitioning from childhood to teenage years is already awkward enough for most
girls, but the talk is unbearable for some. Little do these young minds know that the
scariest part of sex education is the lack of accurate and detailed information. A
shortage of information on their own bodies can have grim effects on their sexuality
later in life. Inadequate sex education for adolescents has consequently set the
foundation for an orgasminequality, favoring men over women. The nation s
incomplete standards for sex education has consistently failed young women in
teaching them enough about their own anatomies. An interview has been conducted
with an 18 year old cisgendered woman named Carly. The purpose was to study how
well an average young woman knows herself and her own sexuality. Carly completed
sex education in the state of Wisconsin. Currently in the united states there are no
federal laws that dictate a uniform sexual health education curriculum (Koepsel
2016). How, and what is taught is left to each of the individual states (Koepsel 2016).
As a result, a range of information is being taught to Americans, but it may or not be
favorable to the student s well being. It seems rather controversial that local
governments, which students can rarely participate in, choose the fate of their sexual
health education. It is an unfair system that ultimately allows only those who have
had extensive and medically accurate education a future in sexual well being. Carly

ingenuity of Sherlock Holmes, to showcase how the English are superior to other
cultures, and to advance the notion that a patriarchal society in best.
Women are used in Conan Doyle s story to contrast Sherlock Holmes s deduction
and wit by being silent, reserved, and typically unimportant to the solving of the
case. Women are constantly seen coming to Holmes for help, showing them as
victims needing his protection and his ability to solve their problems, which only
furthers the Victorian stereotype that women are incapable of taking care of
themselves. Doyle also gives Holmes the upper hand by putting him against women
who are eccentric, vague, entirely silent, or overly emotional. This is shown in

A Democratic Deficit Within The European Union Essay
The claims that within the EU there is a democratic deficit, because there are
extensive powers being accumulated by institutions that appear to lack a satisfactory
level of legitimacy, are cogent. The question of is there a democratic deficit within
the EU, despite having dominated many political debates since the 70s, is prominent
in today s society now more than ever as a result of the UKs decision to leave the
union, consequently causing the world to develop an growing interest in the
European Unionand its qualities. Despite being a relatively common question, it is
important to understand exactly what the EU is and what is meant by the term
democratic deficit . The European Union was formed after World War 2 and
stands today as a politico economic Union made up of 28 countries who exercise
their power over European institutions and operate as a single market for trade
allowing for the free movement of goods, services, capital and people between
member states. More so, the term democratic deficit in relation to the EU refers to
the belief that not all European citizens are equally represented politically by the
government responsible for doing so and questioning the legitimacy of those within
the EU with power.
Therefore, to prove that the claims regarding the EUs democratic deficit are
convincing the firstly, the European commission and its legitimacy as an unelected
institution shall be questioned. Secondly, the complexity of the EU which

Why Are Bees Dying Out
Honeybees are very important insects, they pollinate flowers and plants. If the bees
died out we wouldn t have a lot of the food or plants we have today. Bees are mostly
dying out due to the fact that a lot of people use chemicals to keep plants free of
plants. We need bees or much more people would be left penniless and starving.
One of every three bites of food eaten worldwide depends on pollinators, especially
bees, for a successful harvest. (Grossman, 2013) Bees pollinate flowers of all kinds
so that they can grow. Without the bees what would pollinate the flowers?
Beekeepers across the United States lost 44 percent of their honey bee colonies during
the year spanning April 2015 to April 2016, according to the latest preliminary
results of an annual nationwide survey. Rates of both winter loss and summer loss
and consequently, total annual losses worsened compared with last year. (the Bee
Informed Team, 2016) Why are bees dying out? According to the Nature
Conservancy, there are several reasons why this could be happening: ... Show more

later or sell less of them. If there were no bees, a large percentage of everyday foods
we eat would be gone. Think about all the things you love eating or the fruits that
you love to see and eat. Without bees, these things would be gone. Since flowers
need have to be pollinated and bees do the pollinating the two would either exist

My Interest On The Host Country
В·What is your interest in the host country?
My interest in going to Spain is because I traveled there for a week during my
senior year of high school and fell in love with the country and the city of
Barcelona. From the local s laid back view of time with their Siestas, their way of
taking to the time to enjoy the little things in life, and the perfect weather, it wasn t
hard to fall in love with the place. I am a huge soccer fan and Spain has two of the
greatest teams in the world with the wildest fan base in the world. I remember my
brother telling me he got chills running down his spin the first time he went to a FC
Barcelona home game, he told me it was one of the greatest experiences he ever had.

As I said above, I have already traveled to Spain and actually spent the week living

my living situations with ease. Also, I spent the week going out to see the different

Nice over Lice It was a warm spring afternoon, birds chirping on the dark, ebony

Integrated Criteria Decision Making And Multi Criteria...
Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Research Report CS6705 Prioritized Multi
Criteria Decision Making and Multi Criteria Aggregation By Rizwan Umaid Ali
Student # 3494784 Multi Criteria decision making (MCDM) is an area of
Artificial Intelligence which provides capabilities to assess complex decision
problems. The decisions can depend on our preferences of some criteria over
others. In this report, we analyze formulations of MCDM and Multi Criteria
Aggregation. To further understand this, we also see how we calculate prioritized
measure of Multi Criteria Aggregation and its Shapley index. Introduction For a
modern application, reaching satisfaction can depend upon several criteria. Each
criteria in it can be satisfied to reach an optimal result, but in real world scenarios
satisfying every criteria is impossible and even not required. For example, if a bill
needs to be passed by an executive committee, we will need only half of the
committee s approval to pass it. This leads us to think that we can reach satisfaction
with any set of members of the committee. In fact, there are several cases where
certain criteria have a higher priority than others and satisfaction cannot be reached
without them. For instance, if the president of the executive committee has to
approve the bill and other members just have to favour it, then the president will
dominate the other criteria. To logically state this we can say Satisfy criterion A and
if possible satisfy criterion B . We

share details and statistics showing that men s teams are sometimes cut in order to
meet Title IX s requirements. However, Goodale counters that the reasons for the
teams being cut was not Title IX, but the budgets of the university. She explains that
Title IX is being framed for these incidents (Goodale). Goodale and Marbella and

It is true that some men s teams have been cut due to the inability to meet the
requirements of Title IX. In actuality, It is not because of Title IX, but because of
low budgets and administrative decisions. An alternative would be to reduce the
funds that go into publicity sports, such as football and baseball. Many argue that
adding women s teams does not work. While it is true that some schools have been
unsuccessful in the past, A lot of schools have managed to accomplish this. Even
Marbella and Wells cite that ВЁSchools such as the University of Maryland

Facing Contradictions Analysis
Facing Contradictions and inconsistences: Every day we are faced with many
contradictions and inconsistences. Some of them are our own and others we
encounter them from others. Our daily interactions can be full of contradictions
and inconsistences for instance, when you are mad at someone and they make you
laugh. Perhaps life itself can be inconsistence, one day there are good news the
other you are conveyed with bad news. Contradictions: Is the act of saying
something is opposite or very different in meaning to something else. Example:
When you say you are trustworthy and an honest person but in reality you are the
opposite. Inconsistences: The act of being irregular. Example: For instance one day

segment the book explains almost exclusively how the social forces and the mass
media impacted our life in many forms. In other words, they influenced their life
by given us what we should do and what should not we do. Those are the examples
of how social media impacted our life dramatically: Tell us what to do and what
not to do Tell us what are problems are They affect the meanings we give to events
close to us The shape our worldview They tell us who is a friend and who is the

actions will enable us to shape the best design of our life. We must resist any
external force that aiming to change or control our personalities. In additional to that,
in order to achieve the best of us we should start to think out of the box. Thinking out

Comparision of the tragic characters in Othello and King...
The Greek philosopher Aristotle set forth the guidelines for a tragedy in his work
Poetics. According to Aristotle, the tragic character in a tragedy is a person, not
all good or bad, who begins in a rank of high degree and importance and then
experiences a downfall due to a tragic flaw. In the end of most tragedies, the
character comes to a realization of his flaw after enduring a great deal of suffering.
William Shakespeare, an English playwright of the 17th century, composed many
tragedies, including King Lear and Othello, which exemplified the characteristics of a
tragic herooutlined by Aristotle. The main characters in King Lear and Othello share
many of the traits essential to tragic characters, yet they differ in their specific... Show

The pride held by Othello and Lear leads to further pride in others. They gain a
sense that others would have no reason to do them harm which leads them both to
deceit and poor judgment. Because Othello thinks highly of himself, he believes
others will do the same; his open and trusting nature allows Iago to take advantage of
him. Othello is constantly referring to Iago as Honest Iago and entrusting him with
important duties, such as attending to his wife when he leaves for Cyprus. Iago
scoffs at Othello s trust in him and shows intention of deceit:
The Moor is of a free and open nature,
That thinks men honest that but seem to be so,
And will as tenderly be led by the nose
As asses are. (Othello, I.iii.442 445)
Iago insults Othello by comparing him to a submissive donkey, and he displays an
intent of deceiving Othello in this simile. Lear s pride, like Othello s, causes him to
trust others who plan on deceiving him. Two of his daughters, Goneril and Regan,
gain Lear s trust through their flattering formalistic love speeches by playing into his
pride and boosting his self image. Lear is unsuspecting of the daughters plot against
him, and the two go on to take advantage of their father s poor judgment. Lear
trustingly divides his kingdom between them, giving up his power and entrusting his
well being into the hands of these malicious characters. Goneril
Lillian Hellman Essay
Comparing Lillian Hellman s The Children s Hour and The Little Foxes.

Lillian Hellman was a well known American dramatist who was born in 1905 in
New Orleans ( quot;Hellman, quot; 1999). She later moved and attended New York
public schools and went on to go to New York Universityand Columbia University as
well. Within the confines of her youth, there had been confusion about her family
background (Harmon, 1999). There has always been talk about her parents troubled
marriage and other events have cropped up to make Hellman an intriguing figure. Yet,
she went on to grow up and find a husband, something typical in her day. She married

The Children s Hour was written in 1934 and The Little Foxes would come just five
years after that. Much later, things would get rather sticky. The United States would
go through a cold war and the McCarthy era was upon the nation where creative
industries were targets. Hellman and Hammett stood by one another through the
infamous Communist witch hunts ( quot;Dashiell, quot; 1996). Hammett had
actually been a Communist Party member and he had to serve six months in federal
prison. Hellman did also support leftist causes but never officially enlisted (1996).
Her infamous words and reactions to Senator Joseph McCarthy and the HUAC
committee are as follows: amp;quot;I can t cut my conscience to fit this year s
fashions. amp;quot; (Elibrary)She refused to name names of alleged Communists and
luckily she escaped jail time.
Hellman s life in general was that of the typical writer. It seems as if Hellman was
persistent and loved her work. Born in the south, she grew up spending half the year
in the Northeast and the other half in the south. Hellman loved New Orleans but felt
a driving need to succeed in the North. Her final home in this lifetime was even
further North. Hellman passed away in 1984 near her home which was by then
situated near Martha s Vineyard, in Massachusetts. I feel moving around the nation
gave her a variety of insights into different personalities, something priceless to any
writer. When she wrote The
Witches, Sorcerers, And Shamans
Witches, sorcerers, and shamans are all different terms used to describe persons
associated with other worldly powers. Cautionary tales have been written about
them as far back as the Old Testament and in Homer s Odyssey. While almost every
human culture has possessed the theory of a witch, the most well known witch trials
are the ones from the late 15th century to the late 17th century in Europe. Many
aspects of European life, such as art and politics, were splitting away from the
Church. Even on the cusp of a scientific revolution, the belief in witches and the
supernatural did not disappear. In this paper, I will argue that although there is no
clear consensus about what exactly defines a witch , scholars agree that witch trials

The second article reviewed, Anthropological and Historical Approaches to Witchcraft
: Potential for New Collaboration?, was written by British historian Ronald Hutton in
the early 21st Century. In his writings, he discusses how different professionals, such
as historians, sociologists, and anthropologists, have all taken different approaches
when studying witchcraft. He proposes setting a model for witchcraft and using a set
model to study witches and magic across the globe. He argues that the studies done
have looked at magic and witches from too narrow a lens. Hutton suggests comparing
two different societies that have had prominent histories with witches, such as
European and African witchcraft, and comparing them against one another. Hutton
suggests that these two groups have a very different history, but witchcraft reflected
struggles common to all societies. Another article discusses the domino effect of the
weather and it s impact on the agricultural economy of the time and how this
explains the rise in witch trials in early modern Europe. Witchcraft, Weather, and
Economic Growth in Renaissance Europe by Emily Oster in 2004, takes an
economical approach on witchcraft and attributes the rise in prosecutions as a model
of scapegoating provoked by the deteriorating economy at the time. Oster presents
findings indicating that if the average temperature of the decade was below that of
the previous decade, a
Persuasive Essay On Owning A Bike
As my brother and I pedaled our new bikes to the community center at age 10, we
were so happy that we are finally able to feel the joy of biking around and showing
off our brand new polished bikes to the public and our friends. Also, I thought to
myself what can people possibly hate about this perfect man made human powered
transportation. It is the most outstanding feeling to ride and to make it even better
is when I change the gears and go fast and let the wind just hit my face. It s
marvelous. Furthermore, everyone that owns a car now should start thinking of
starting of owning a bike because it will save them money. They will be able to
avoid traffic jams, save money, get exercise and stay healthy.
Some concern people may argue even though bikes can be a good thing for us they
also have their downside. Such as biking could be bad for the environment. As a
result of having bikes, some individuals consider that operating on Human Powered

of human power energy to operate the bike.According to cycling is bad for the

in greater emissions of carbon dioxide from the rider. Since CO2 is deemed to be a

ANALYSIS OF FATIGUE CRACK PROPAGATION OF A STEEL CATENARY
RISER (SCR) AT THE TOUCHDOWN ZONE (TDZ).
INTRODUCTION
1. Project Overview 1.1. Background
Consumption energy since the 1950s has been in a progressive upsurge in the
world. Fossil fuels like oil, natural gases, and coal nevertheless has the aggregate of
80% of the world s energy consumption despite the fact that there s has a diminution
in some renewable energy resources, cons considering the number of inventions
and creativities. In the late 2000s, the speed growth in price of crude oil is a result
of increase in demand of oil and gas. Virtually 80% of fossil fuel consumed are oil

The previous studies show that the TDP, where the SCR starts to contact the seabed,
is one of the critical locations of SCR prone to fatigue failure (Fu etal, 2010).
Failure in SCR can result in reduction or an interruption of a revenue. It may also
lead to pollution or spillage which disastrous to human live. Cyclic bending stresses
are largely experienced at the TDZ which is a critical location for fatigue especially
when subjected to high temperatures and pressures. Therefore, TDZ design must
carry a high degree of reliability. (Bai and Bai)
1.2. Scope
To analyze and optimize the fatigue crake propagation of a steel catenary riser at the
touch down zone. This would also determine the failure mode of the SCR in worse
conditions.
Furthermore, a theoretical overview of physical aspect of SCR and a detailed study
of fatigue crack with respect to different external loads will be discussed. A typical
analysis, simulation and modelling using ANSYS will be carried out to determine
the fatigue life the SCR subjected to different loads also an MPI (Magnetic Particle
Inspection) inspection will carried to determine its initial cracks.
1.3. Aim and Objective
To carry out a research and perform some engineering analysis to determine the
fatigue life of an X65 steel catenary riser at its touch down zone and ways of
mitigating its failure mode.
Understanding and identifying fatigue crack on a SCR in deep

Mobile Communication Is Multi Hop Ad Hoc Systems
INTRODUCTION: The Latest advances in Wireless Communications have extended
conceivable applications from straightforward voice services in early cell systems to
new incorporated information applications. These days, numerous up to date cellular
telephones are likewise incorporated with functionalities including FM radio,
advanced camera, and MP3 player. Hence, the services upheld by mobile
communications have extended from basic voice to sight and sound, for example,
video conferencing and portable gaming. These new services require a higher service
quality and also more prominent information rate. Moreover, with mobile access to
the Internet, the expanding development in information movement will further drive
the requirement for higher data transmission. Current foundations that bolster mostly
voice activity are confronting an incredible test in meeting both the transmission
capacity and quality of service requests of future mobile communication clients. For
mobile communication, one concept with successful improvement is customary
single hop cell frameworks where a mobile station (MS) speaks specifically with a
base station (BS) [1]. Another idea of mobile communication is multi hop ad hoc
systems, which are infrastructure less, self sorting out and quickly deployable with
no site arranging, dissimilar to traditional cell systems. At the point when associations
need to move between heterogeneous systems for performance and high accessibility
reasons, consistent

realistic fiction book is. That the things going on in the book could actually happen,

Disturb The Universe In The Chocolate War
Do I dare disturb the universe? This was the message posted inside Jerry s locker
in the Novel The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier. Like Jerry, many others have

Adolf Hitler, like Jerry, is a prime example of someone who disturbed the universe.
Both Jerry Renault and Adolf Hitler are guilty of disturbing the universe through
revolting, never giving up, and not going down without a fight. Both of these figures
influenced their respective universes in a strong way. Both Jerry and Hitler revolted
against their superiors . This disturbed the universe by standing up to those in power,

Reasons for Devotion to Hindu Goddesses
Reasons for devotion to Hindu goddesses Hinduism portrays feminine divinity in a
more exalted way than most other religions do. Though Hindu goddesses are usually
depicted as consorts, wives or companions to a Hindu god, cases exist in which they
are worshipped independently; Tantrism for example, where it is believed that
women posses more spiritual power than men, thus men can achieve divinity through
union with a woman( Tantrism ). Most villages reinforce the mother aspect of
goddesses and worship them individually as their protector, regarding them as
having originated in the area and thus being tied to the health and prosperity of the
village (Caldwell). Others who may devote themselves to a goddess might be in

Kali then proceeds to kill all the asuras in a frenzied manner, later offering the
heads of their leaders Chanda and Munda to Durga. Her second appearance is in
the follow chapter, where she battles Raktabija, and assures success by sucking all
of his blood so he could not reproduce anymore, per Durga s command, while she
slayed him ( Devimahatmya ch. 7 8). Another myth ties Kali with Parvati, telling
of an army of demons that threatens the safety of the world. Men cannot slay them,
and so Shiva calls for his wife to aid them in battle. Parvati accepts the
responsibility, swallowing the poison stored in Shiva s throat and morphing into
Kali. However, she becomes too drunk with the poison and, after defeating all the
demons, threatens to destroy the world herself with her berserk dance. In an attempt
to subdue his wife, Shiva then lays on the floor in front of Kali, who in her
delirious state does not notice his presence and steps on him. Shamed that she had
showed such disgraceful behavior, she bites her tongue in humiliation. The last scene
of the above tale is illustrated in a lot of imagery, and while the tale itself has a lot of
variations, many Hindus will arrive at the same resolution. It is in this perception that
many contradictions lie. Another question rises, What does Kali s tongue biting
really mean? Most Hindus will claim that it is to show shame, which is what the
action means in Bengali culture,

Strange. This is a 21st century movie that captivates the viewer s attention and
fulfills one s expectations of a good movie. A movie that will not look or feel like a
waste of time, money and other resources. The most interesting part is that there is
hope for future production of the same movie as the story line continues. The stunts
performed are just a show of pure awesomeness of Marvel Studios. The graphics
display the complexity of computer manipulation of animated characters and the
script has made use of words that resonate with the feeling of class. This is a movie

US Defense Budget
The present budget for nation defense spending including the Department of Defense
is around $610 billion. The United States spend more on defense than China, Russia,
Saudi Arabia, France, United Kingdom, India, and Germany combined. The U.S
defense spending accounts for almost 20 percent of all federal spending. We need a
defense budget that matches new security challenges, not the threats of the last
century, stated the article Peter G. Peterson Foundation (2015).
According to the annual rankings released by the IMD World Competitiveness
Center, the United States has the most competitive economy in the world, when
taking into account economic performance, efficiency of business and government,

The government plays a role in overseeing the working of the economy, but does
not interfere in its daily functioning. The government needs to provide goods and
services, which have a high social priority but very low profit margin. The
government must take a big role in national defense, police, law and order, fire
department, postal service, etc. to protect its citizens and provide equality and equity.
The government is our primary protector of our rights and they, I believe, is doing an
acceptable job of protecting the citizens of the U.S.
The most interesting topic I earned while doing this exercise was about the role of
the government in a market economy. It is interesting how the government is like the
clockmaker. They watch the economy they have set up for the society, and fix it
when it gets broken. Yes, it did change my perspective about the government because
I thought the government was a big part of the market economy and that they would

Fa Mulan Home Culture
I: Departure
Home Culture
During the beginning scenes of the movie, it is shown that the main character Fa
Mulan lives in China during the reign of the Han dynasty. She lives with her
grandmother, mother, and father, the latter of which is an elderly war veteran.
Mulan fails to conform to society s standards of being, or in this case, preparing to
be, the perfect wife.
Call to Adventure
Han China is invaded by the Huns, causing one man from each family to be drafted
into the Chinese army. Mulan s father, though weak, agrees to return to war, much
to Mulan s dismay. Her offers to take his place are dismissed, so she takes her father
s armor and leaves in the middle of the night, disguised as a man.

Sandwich Generation Thesis
More and more people are delaying marriage and child rearing. Over 20 million
Americans are caught between their aging parents and young children. Adults who
are part of the Sandwich Generation are adults who have a parent that is living and
65 years old or older, but they are also raising a child under the age of 18. Being apart
of the Sandwich Generation can be very stressful. Many young adults are starting to
delay marriage. The percentage of married people in their 20s has dropped
tremendously from 2000 to 2006. Young adults are getting married just to get married
or because they have a child involved. Being in the Sandwich Generation tends to
affect person s relationship with their spouse and others. It can cause many arguments
Atrazine Pesticide
Atrazine is one of the most widely use herbicides in the United States since it was
discovered in 1958. Atrazine plays a significant role in food production in the US
and in feeding countries around the world, but it s also been linked to negative
health outcomes and the chemical persists in the environment for a long time.
Atrazine is a commonly detected pesticide in drinking water and has caused
widespread water contamination in Europe. The water borne herbicide in
contaminated drinking water has been linked to prostate and breast cancer and as a
result, it was banned Europe since 2004 ( EU on Atrazine 2006). Meanwhile, in the
United States, more than 76 million pounds are used yearly on fields, particularly in
the Central Plains. Atrazine s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Foradori, Hinds, Hanneman, and Handa (2009a) conducted a study to determine the
impact of atrazine and its adverse effects on rats to test the impact of atrazine on the
reproductive system. The female rats had their ovaries surgically removed and were
given estrogen and progesterone hormones to stimulate the release of two important
hormones needed for ovulation gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) from the
brain and luteinizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary gland. The sterile rats were fed
varying doses of atrazine to test if the herbicide interfered with the release of
gonadotropin releasing hormone and luteinizing hormone. Findings show that
gonadotropin releasing hormone activity and luteinizing hormone levels were
significantly lower in animals fed atrazine, regardless of dose because atrazine
reduces the activity of the gonadotropin releasing hormone neurons in the brain and
blocks the luteinizing hormone surge that controls ovulation in vertebrates (Foradori
et al 2009a). The experiments done by Cooper, Stoker, Tyrey, Goldman, and McElroy
support these findings explain that the effect of atrazine on luteinizing hormone and
prolactin secretion is mediated by means of taking action at the site of the

Women of The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz by
Mordecai...
In The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, a book written by Mordecai Richler,
women are represented as if they are of a lower status and importance than men.
These female characters include Yvette Durelle, Minnie Kravitz, Ida Kravitz, Linda
Rubin, and Sandra Calder. Each of these female characters are in possession of
negative attributes; ranging from helplessness, to deceitfulness, and all the way up
to inanimateness. Minnie Kravitz is the mother of Duddy Kravitz. Because she
passed away while Duddy was still young, the establishment of a mother son
relationship was prevented. The memories Duddy has of her are next to none; and
he is unsure of whether or not she even loved him while she was still alive. Duddy

At first, Duddy and Yvette shared a stable relationship with one another, and
enjoyed each other s company. However, after Yvette took Duddy down to a
somewhat desolate beach, Duddy becomes obsessed with the beach as he believes
that this is the land that he will soon own. At this point, Duddy begins to centralize
his goals solely on owning the land, and begins using Yvette as a tool to attain it.
Because Yvette is of legal age and has a French Canadian background, the farmers
wouldn t be reluctant to refuse or sell her the land as they would be with a young
Jew. In addition to Yvette being used as a device for acquiring land, she is also
used as a device of Duddy s sexual pleasure. Duddy treats her as an object, and
nearly forces her into having sex with him whenever he feels the need to. He also
tells her that if he were to impregnate her, he would simply get his brother, Lennie, to
perform an abortion on her. This was not the only time when he directly
communicates a demeaning comment towards Yvette, as Duddy frequently addresses
Yvette as his Girl Friday throughout the novel. It is unfortunate how Yvette knows
about how she is being used by Duddy, however fails to abandon him right there and
then. The relationship Duddy s uncle, Benjamin, has with his wife, Ida, is antithetical
to the relationship Duddy has with Yvette. In Duddy s
A Report On Aircraft Fuel Efficiency
Report on research Project. Abstract: Aircraft fuel efficiency has improved
significantly since the beginning of the jet era in the 1960s, and from 1970 to 2000
total energy intensity was reduced by more than 60%. Fuel burn is a key
determinant of aviation economics given that fuel costs account for up to 35% of
total aviation costs. The aviation industry has therefore focused on fuel efficiency
improvement through engine and aircraft innovation which has resulted in a
reduction in total energy intensity of more than 60% since 1970. There are a number
of evolutionary technologies that could help achieve further fuel efficiency
improvements in new aircraft over the next 20 years. Aviation engineers have been
working on silent aircraft and using 3D systems in aircraft to make precise aircraft
design which will be very useful for cargo purposes and for travellers to reach their
destinations. Students of Cambridge university are also been working on silent
aircraft which will reduce the aircraft noise and improve the fuel efficiency. I set out
to analysis that main sections. Scope for improvement in aircraft fuel efficiency

A Doll s House By Henrik Ibsen
Realism is a theatrical movement during the 19th century, illustrating a story without
artificial and supernatural elements, in other words, a realism play would show
things that happen in our everyday life, much like naturalism. We can distinguish
realism from other theatrical movements by the facts that its characters are
believable to be the everyday type, the costumes are authentic to the time period
being illustrated, the setting is based in only one location that is as close to our
everyday life as possible, and because the story happens within 24 hours and only has
one story line.
There are many similarities between realism and naturalism. Some of those
similarities are that both genres illustrate events that could happen in real ... Show

Although it was not until the mid 1900 that modern realism really emerged. By the
1950s, the box set with three walls was introduced and popularized. The box set is a
way to stage something so that it creates the illusion of an interior room on the stage.
An important name during the modern realism movement is Henrik Ibsen. Ibsen is
now considered the founder of modern realism. Ibsen owes his title to his most
famous play A Doll s House featuring the the taboo and deep seeded unrest in
women of the time (1). In other words, Ibsen illustrated the everyday lives of his
middle class audience.
In doing so, Ibsen was soon followed by the Russians Chekhov and Gorky. Both
writers were founders of the socialist realism, which is a style with the purpose of
spreading the goals of socialism and communism. Chekhov and Gorky wrote about
the boredom of the uneventful lives of the middle class, and later on they would
portray the poorest classes as a suffering and working class. Gorky wrote The
Lower Depths , which illustrated the working class and their living conditions. On
the other hand, Chekhov wrote Three Sisters or even The Lady With the Dog ,
which portrayed the life of the middle class. All of those plays are now considered
masterpieces of the socialist realism

sequence continues showing a typical mundane day for Harold Crick, (Played by
Will Farrell), a Senior Agent for the Internal Revenue Service, and concludes
showing Harold going to bed, then it cuts to show a man giving his son a bicycle as

cries out for each of us to live the life we ve always wanted. Get involved with those

time we shake ourselves awake, more years have passed than are still left for us to

Why College Athletes Shouldn t Be Paid
Why Not to Pay College Athletes After numerous scandals over the past several
years of college athletes receiving improper benefits, the question has come up
whether or not college athletes should be paid or not. College sports are a growing
industry, and we have seen money destroy organizations, teams, and players in this
industry. The determination and motivation of collegeathletes supersedes
professional athletes by their will to win; therefore, college athletes should not be
paid. The law that prevents college athletes from receiving money is called Title
IX. Title IX was passed in 1972, and states that all money should go equally for all
sports and no team should be excluded. Originally this law was created to preserve

Likewise, almost all NCAA championships lose money. However, overall NCAA
revenue, primarily derived from the Association s media agreements and the
popularity of the Division I Men s Basketball Championship, helps 400,000 student
athletes at more than 1,000 member institutions learn and compete in 23 sports and
88 national championships (NCAA 2). Most colleges typically lose money on
most of their sporting teams, and with the income from the few sport teams they
are able to provide for other students. Since a lot of colleges are losing money in
the industry, they wouldn t be able to pay the athletes if they don t generate revenue.
This would cause students to go to colleges that make money knowing they would
be getting paid, compared to a college that doesn t have financial stability to pay
athletes. College would not be college anymore. The universities would become
franchises and inevitably turn into a smaller version of the NFL. The law Title IX
makes it mandatory for each team to provide the same amount of benefits to each
student. From the incomes to these few sports, the less popular sports at schools
would be cut because they do not have enough revenue coming in to pay the players. (
Student athletes generate billions of dollars for universities and private companies
while earning nothing for themselves. ) This is indisputably untrue. Student athletes
earn free tuition, which
The Change to Trade Routes Over Time
In 300 C.E., trade routes were primarily between Europe and North Africa. The way
that they changed by 1450 C.E. was that they expanded southward and westward. By
1450, these trade routes went all the way through West Africa, sub Saharan Africa,
and the Indian Ocean. One factor that was unchanged during this time period was that
the northern coast of Africawas always involved in the trade between Africa and the
rest of Eurasia. The trade networks between African and Eurasia remained very
important during this time period by means of the trade networks contributions to
the Afro Eurasian world. The ebb and flow of trade between Africa and Eurasia
during the period 300 to 1450 C.E really reflects the struggles and fortunes of the
three dominant religions in the area; Christianity, Buddhism and an upstart known as
Islam. Although Christianity and Buddhism were well established by this time, the
growth of Islam was a catalyst to many of the changes about to occur, such as new
trade partners. Christianity and Buddhism were continuities, whereas a new religion
called Islam was an example of change.
In 622 C.E., Islam was founded which helped flourish trade. The founding of Islam
amplified trade because Islam linked Swahili city states to the larger Indian Ocean
which was an important part of the trade routes between Africa and Eurasia. In the
Southern ends of the Swahili world the birth of Islam extended the impact of the
Indian Ocean trade well into the African interior.

Mediating OSHA Claims in Dallas, TX: Which Cases are Eligible?
Claims under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, involve
allegations that an employer has not provided a safe work environment or is not
following OSHA standards. Under OSHA, employees may report safety violations.
After reporting claims to OSHA, these employees are protected from retaliatory
conduct from their employers, such as termination or demotion. These claims, called
whistleblower complaints, must be thoroughly investigated, which may take a
significant amount of time. Many attorneys have begun mediating OSHA claims in
Dallas, Texas. However, prior to mediating OSHA claims in Dallas, Texas, attorneys
must make sure that their clients whistleblower claims are eligible for mediation.
First, an OSHA investigation must be underway prior to mediation, and the employer
must have responded to the employee s complaint. This is a significant difference
from other claims; where no complaint or suit must be filed prior to scheduling
mediation.
Next, the regional ADR coordinator and the Federal Mediation and Conciliatory
Service will work together to determine whether the case is eligible for mediation.
These entities will examine whether the parties are willing to work together to create
a settlement agreement. If your client is particularly
My Neighborhood Memories Essay
My Neighborhood Memories
I have many memories in my hometown of Buckner, but none of them long enough
to tell a long story about. Buckner is a great little town, we have many great people
here. Small stores with three gas stations and only one stoplight, the grass is more
green than it seems. I moved here in 2005 when I was about 6 to 7 years old, don t
have many images of my first time seeing the house. I do remember dad building
the house before it became the bright white and blue house it is today. With a long
road going into the cul de sac with 6 houses going around it. We have a tall tree in
our front yard with three of the neighbor s mailboxes including ours in the front.
We have known every neighbor as long as I can remember, the town is just an
amalgam of good people. One great family to the right of us is Chester and his wife.
Chester is a true American man and is always nice to everyone he meets. He has
always helped me with my yard work if I needed it and always says hello and good
morning if you see him. His house is the same color as ours and has a beautiful red
Dodge Charger in the front. He is always working in his yard and is adding things to
it every day. One memory I had with him was when my mower stopped working
when I mowed the side yard and he came and fixed everything. He taught me all that
I needed to know about the lawn mower to make sure it didn t happen a second time.
During the whole speech, he made sure I was listening which was
Ice Hockey History
Hockey is a sport that s been around for almost 200 years now, it s a competitive
sport that s played all across our world, and it has plenty of history behind it.
Anyways, if you ask anyone in Canada about it, they would most likely be able to
tell you a few things about it. When people think of Canada, Hockey can often
come to mind. The sport developed and grew in Canada, created by students
(soldiers) of King College School, to a small village in Nova Scotia, named
Windsor. The game used to be a field game, called Hurley, and soon enough they
decided to take it to the ice, where it earned the name Ice Hurley . Over time, the
game finally earned a new name, as we know it as of today, Ice Hockey. At this time,
it was really beginning to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Hockey also helped cement Canada, and plenty more of countries
status as a nation with its own identity , which is completely true. Canada and the
rest of North America is well known for hockey, also it being the home of the NHL,
it wouldn t be the same place without it at all. As many people know, it s a very
difficult sport to play, and if you play it consider it a talent, even a gift, its known
as one of the hardest games to play in the world. The sport can also help with many
traits, such as reflexes, stamina, hand eye coordination and more. Otherwise,
many people across the world have tons of passion for the sport, lots of citizens all
across the world put their life into it, it s their JOB, and it s well worth it, because
the people who do that make millions a year, which is crazy... especially just for
playing a game, but in front of 20,000 paying fans of course. Some parts of our
world revolve around the game, without it, there would be an enormous missing
piece. So that can explain how it has affected our world, also because it s been
around for about 200 years now, it really has a huge history behind it, which has
affected us a

Reynolds Edmond, Oklahoma Abstract This paper explores related research in aspects of language acquisition, specifically, reading instruction and its effect on students who live in low socioeconomic environments. We will review the methods of explicit phonics and whole language to examine what, if any, is the more advantageous method of reading instruction for students who live in poverty. The purpose of this literature review is to investigate the impacts of specific reading instruction on the literacy development of children and how socioeconomics restricts these impacts. The research reviewed was collected from peer review journals using the Central Search feature on the UCO Chambers Library website. The majority of the researcher s findings came from EBSCOhost Education Research Complete and JSTOR: Journal Storage. Given the findings of this literature review, research suggests that explicit phonics instruction, when embedded in a whole language classroom, promotes growth in literacy skills among young children. Research suggests that multisensory phonics, based on Orton Gillingham Approach, promotes literacy growth for students who are at risk, however, its impact within a whole language classroom are undetermined. This literature review suggests that multisensory phonics should be utilized in a whole language classroom to determine if its use promotes growth in

More explicitly, they have had a fascination with straightening their hair. The need to be accepted by the majority class has caused them to do so. Though the image of straight hair as being better than coarse hair still hasn t left the Black community, there has been a surge of non straight hairstyles since the nineteen sixties. Lighter Blacks (especially women) were perceived to be more attractive, more intelligent, and more acceptable to the White community. Darker skinned Blacks were perceived to be the opposite. This was deposited upon the culture during the slave era. Hair texture also became an issue within the Black community, as lighter, straighter hair was perceived to be nicer, and coarse, thick hair was perceived to be bad, ugly. The afro movement in the 60 s challenged this ideology. In the 60 s, natural hair meaning coarse and thick, began to signify intelligence, Black power, and resistance to the majority culture, overall enlightenment. This image was reborn in the late 1990s. Newer options for natural hairstyles and the increasing acceptance of dreadlocks reinitiated a type of anti chemically relaxed hair movement. Refusing to put chemicals in one s hair (chemicals referring to those used to straighten one s hair) meant refusing to cater to the slave mentality of light skinned, straight haired beauty. Little do these young minds know that the scariest part of sex education is the lack of accurate and detailed information. A shortage of information on their own bodies can have grim effects on their sexuality later in life. Inadequate sex education for adolescents has consequently set the foundation for an orgasminequality, favoring men over women. The nation s incomplete standards for sex education has consistently failed young women in teaching them enough about their own anatomies. An interview has been conducted with an 18 year old cisgendered woman named Carly. The purpose was to study how well an average young woman knows herself and her own sexuality. Carly completed sex education in the state of Wisconsin. Currently in the united states there are no federal laws that dictate a uniform sexual health education curriculum (Koepsel 2016). How, and what is taught is left to each of the individual states (Koepsel 2016). As a result, a range of information is being taught to Americans, but it may or not be favorable to the student s well being. It seems rather controversial that local governments, which students can rarely participate in, choose the fate of their sexual health education. It is an unfair system that ultimately allows only those who have had extensive and medically accurate education a future in sexual well being. Carly explained

The decisions can depend on our preferences of some criteria over others. In this report, we analyze formulations of MCDM and Multi Criteria Aggregation. To further understand this, we also see how we calculate prioritized measure of Multi Criteria Aggregation and its Shapley index. Introduction For a modern application, reaching satisfaction can depend upon several criteria. Each criteria in it can be satisfied to reach an optimal result, but in real world scenarios satisfying every criteria is impossible and even not required. For example, if a bill needs to be passed by an executive committee, we will need only half of the committee s approval to pass it. This leads us to think that we can reach satisfaction with any set of members of the committee. In fact, there are several cases where certain criteria have a higher priority than others and satisfaction cannot be reached without them. For instance, if the president of the executive committee has to approve the bill and other members just have to favour it, then the president will dominate the other criteria. To logically state this we can say Satisfy criterion A and if possible satisfy criterion B . We

Her final home in this lifetime was even further North. Hellman passed away in 1984 near her home which was by then situated near Martha s Vineyard, in Massachusetts. Cautionary tales have been written about them as far back as the Old Testament and in Homer s Odyssey. While almost every human culture has possessed the theory of a witch, the most well known witch trials are the ones from the late 15th century to the late 17th century in Europe. Many aspects of European life, such as art and politics, were splitting away from the Church. Even on the cusp of a scientific revolution, the belief in witches and the supernatural did not disappear. The second article reviewed, Anthropological and Historical Approaches to Witchcraft : Potential for New Collaboration?, was written by British historian Ronald Hutton in the early 21st Century. In his writings, he discusses how different professionals, such as historians, sociologists, and anthropologists, have all taken different approaches when studying witchcraft. He proposes setting a model for witchcraft and using a set model to study witches and magic across the globe. He argues that the studies done have looked at magic and witches from too narrow a lens. Hutton suggests comparing two different societies that have had prominent histories with witches, such as European and African witchcraft, and comparing them against one another. Hutton suggests that these two groups have a very different history, but witchcraft reflected struggles common to all societies. Another article discusses the domino effect of the weather and it s impact on the agricultural economy of the time and how this explains the rise in witch trials in early modern Europe. Witchcraft, Weather, and Economic Growth in Renaissance Europe by Emily Oster in 2004, takes an economical approach on witchcraft and attributes the rise in prosecutions as a model of scapegoating provoked by the deteriorating economy at the time. Oster presents findings indicating that if the average temperature of the decade was below that of the previous decade, a

Fossil fuels like oil, natural gases, and coal nevertheless has the aggregate of 80% of the world s energy consumption despite the fact that there s has a diminution in some renewable energy resources, cons considering the number of inventions and creativities. In the late 2000s, the speed growth in price of crude oil is a result of increase in demand of oil and gas. Virtually 80% of fossil fuel consumed are oil and gas making their production the main importance to the stability of world s energy supply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The previous studies show that the TDP, where the SCR starts to contact the seabed, is one of the critical locations of SCR prone to fatigue failure (Fu etal, 2010). Failure in SCR can result in reduction or an interruption of a revenue. It may also lead to pollution or spillage which disastrous to human live. Cyclic bending stresses are largely experienced at the TDZ which is a critical location for fatigue especially when subjected to high temperatures and pressures. Therefore, TDZ design must carry a high degree of reliability. (Bai and Bai) 1.2. Scope To analyze and optimize the fatigue crake propagation of a steel catenary riser at the touch down zone. This would also determine the failure mode of the SCR in worse conditions. Furthermore, a theoretical overview of physical aspect of SCR and a detailed study of fatigue crack with respect to different external loads will be discussed. A typical analysis, simulation and modelling using ANSYS will be carried out to determine the fatigue life the SCR subjected to different loads also an MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) inspection will carried to determine its initial cracks. 1.3. Aim and Objective To carry out a research and perform some engineering analysis to determine the fatigue life of an X65 steel catenary riser at its touch down zone and ways of mitigating its failure mode. • 34. Mobile Communication Is Multi Hop Ad Hoc Systems INTRODUCTION: The Latest advances in Wireless Communications have extended conceivable applications from straightforward voice services in early cell systems to new incorporated information applications. These days, numerous up to date cellular telephones are likewise incorporated with functionalities including FM radio, advanced camera, and MP3 player. Hence, the services upheld by mobile communications have extended from basic voice to sight and sound, for example, video conferencing and portable gaming. These new services require a higher service quality and also more prominent information rate. Moreover, with mobile access to the Internet, the expanding development in information movement will further drive the requirement for higher data transmission. Current foundations that bolster mostly voice activity are confronting an incredible test in meeting both the transmission capacity and quality of service requests of future mobile communication clients. For mobile communication, one concept with successful improvement is customary single hop cell frameworks where a mobile station (MS) speaks specifically with a base station (BS) [1]. Another idea of mobile communication is multi hop ad hoc systems, which are infrastructure less, self sorting out and quickly deployable with no site arranging, dissimilar to traditional cell systems. At the point when associations need to move between heterogeneous systems for performance and high accessibility reasons, consistent

Her second appearance is in the follow chapter, where she battles Raktabija, and assures success by sucking all of his blood so he could not reproduce anymore, per Durga s command, while she slayed him ( Devimahatmya ch. 7 8). Another myth ties Kali with Parvati, telling of an army of demons that threatens the safety of the world. Men cannot slay them, and so Shiva calls for his wife to aid them in battle. Parvati accepts the responsibility, swallowing the poison stored in Shiva s throat and morphing into Kali. However, she becomes too drunk with the poison and, after defeating all the demons, threatens to destroy the world herself with her berserk dance. In an attempt to subdue his wife, Shiva then lays on the floor in front of Kali, who in her delirious state does not notice his presence and steps on him. Shamed that she had showed such disgraceful behavior, she bites her tongue in humiliation. The last scene of the above tale is illustrated in a lot of imagery, and while the tale itself has a lot of variations, many Hindus will arrive at the same resolution. It is in this perception that many contradictions lie. Another question rises, What does Kali s tongue biting really mean? Most Hindus will claim that it is to show shame, which is what the action means in Bengali culture,

Abstract: Aircraft fuel efficiency has improved significantly since the beginning of the jet era in the 1960s, and from 1970 to 2000 total energy intensity was reduced by more than 60%. Fuel burn is a key determinant of aviation economics given that fuel costs account for up to 35% of total aviation costs. The aviation industry has therefore focused on fuel efficiency improvement through engine and aircraft innovation which has resulted in a reduction in total energy intensity of more than 60% since 1970. There are a number of evolutionary technologies that could help achieve further fuel efficiency improvements in new aircraft over the next 20 years. Aviation engineers have been working on silent aircraft and using 3D systems in aircraft to make precise aircraft design which will be very useful for cargo purposes and for travellers to reach their destinations. Ibsen is now considered the founder of modern realism. Ibsen owes his title to his most famous play A Doll s House featuring the the taboo and deep seeded unrest in women of the time (1). In other words, Ibsen illustrated the everyday lives of his middle class audience. In doing so, Ibsen was soon followed by the Russians Chekhov and Gorky. Chekhov and Gorky wrote about the boredom of the uneventful lives of the middle class, and later on they would portray the poorest classes as a suffering and working class. The determination and motivation of collegeathletes supersedes professional athletes by their will to win; therefore, college athletes should not be paid. Most colleges typically lose money on most of their sporting teams, and with the income from the few sport teams they are able to provide for other students. Since a lot of colleges are losing money in the industry, they wouldn t be able to pay the athletes if they don t generate revenue. This would cause students to go to colleges that make money knowing they would be getting paid, compared to a college that doesn t have financial stability to pay athletes. College would not be college anymore. The universities would become franchises and inevitably turn into a smaller version of the NFL. The law Title IX makes it mandatory for each team to provide the same amount of benefits to each student. From the incomes to these few sports, the less popular sports at schools would be cut because they do not have enough revenue coming in to pay the players. The way that they changed by 1450 C.E. was that they expanded southward and westward. By 1450, these trade routes went all the way through West Africa, sub Saharan Africa, and the Indian Ocean. One factor that was unchanged during this time period was that the northern coast of Africawas always involved in the trade between Africa and the rest of Eurasia. The trade networks between African and Eurasia remained very important during this time period by means of the trade networks contributions to the Afro Eurasian world. The ebb and flow of trade between Africa and Eurasia during the period 300 to 1450 C.E really reflects the struggles and fortunes of the three dominant religions in the area; Christianity, Buddhism and an upstart known as Islam. Although Christianity and Buddhism were well established by this time, the growth of Islam was a catalyst to many of the changes about to occur, such as new trade partners. Christianity and Buddhism were continuities, whereas a new religion called Islam was an example of change. In 622 C.E., Islam was founded which helped flourish trade. The founding of Islam amplified trade because Islam linked Swahili city states to the larger Indian Ocean which was an important part of the trade routes between Africa and Eurasia. In the Southern ends of the Swahili world the birth of Islam extended the impact of the Indian Ocean trade well into the African interior.

  • 51. My Neighborhood Memories Essay My Neighborhood Memories I have many memories in my hometown of Buckner, but none of them long enough to tell a long story about. Buckner is a great little town, we have many great people here. Small stores with three gas stations and only one stoplight, the grass is more green than it seems. I moved here in 2005 when I was about 6 to 7 years old, don t have many images of my first time seeing the house. I do remember dad building the house before it became the bright white and blue house it is today. With a long road going into the cul de sac with 6 houses going around it. We have known every neighbor as long as I can remember, the town is just an amalgam of good people. One great family to the right of us is Chester and his wife. Chester is a true American man and is always nice to everyone he meets. He has always helped me with my yard work if I needed it and always says hello and good morning if you see him. His house is the same color as ours and has a beautiful red Dodge Charger in the front. He is always working in his yard and is adding things to it every day. One memory I had with him was when my mower stopped working when I mowed the side yard and he came and fixed everything. He taught me all that I needed to know about the lawn mower to make sure it didn t happen a second time. During the whole speech, he made sure I was listening which was
