Strategic Management at Brewery Industries
Global forces and the European brewing industry
This case is centred on the European brewing industry and examines how the increasingly
competitive pressure of operating within global markets is causing consolidation through
acquisitions, alliances and closures within the industry. This has resulted in the growth of the
brewers reliance upon super brands.
In the first decade of the twenty first century, European brewers faced a surprising paradox. The
traditional centre of the beer industry worldwide, and still the largest regional market, Europe, was
turning off beer. Beer consumption was falling in the largest markets of Germany and the United
Kingdom, while burgeoning in emerging markets around the world. China, with 7 ... Show more

Growing Horses Vitamins
Growing horses require vitamins as a source of nutrient due to the benefits and requirements they
need for their body s. The vitamins growing horses require depend on what their environment
looks like. This could range from them being in a stall getting fed grain everyday to being in a
pasture eating forage. Some horses are on both a high quality forage and a grain given to them each
day. Vitaminrequirements also become more relevant when coming closer to the weaning time for
growing horses. Some of these vitamin requirements are given to horses additionally to what they
are being fed. Vitamins serve an importance to growing horses in many aspects of both weaning and
maturing. There are several vitamins that can affect growing horses and

The Charge of the Light Brigade Essay
The Charge of the Light Brigade
War poetry is a theme that has inspired many poets. Compare and contrast poems by 2 poets from
different eras and cultures. Say which one you prefer and why.
The two poems and the poets that I am going to look at are The Charge of the Light Brigade
written by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Dulce ET
Decorum Est. Pro Patria Mori by Wilfred Owen.
The first poem was written during the reign of Queen Victoria in
England. During this time the Victorians as the people were called had a very religious outlook on
life. The account was written by the poet because it was such a bad battle that the government
couldn t let the people see that it had made a great mistake and so it commissioned
Tennyson to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In simple terms the battle was a terrible mistake. The poet seems to be telling a story. He doesn t
give any impression of being there. The reader might feel that the poet has no experience of
being at the battle. He glorifies the men and the battle as if to hide the mistakes of the
commanders and the government, was there a man dismayed? The poet use words like Half a
league, half a league, half a league, which gives the impression like the horses were galloping
along. Also other words that he uses in it were Cannon to right of them Cannon to left of them
and cannon in front of them. Also some of the words he use to describe what was happening to
the solider like Boldly they rode and well into the jaws of death into the mouth of hell. This is
describing that they are going to face a lot of trouble. There are also six sections to this poem. An
overall description of this poem I find it hard to image it as the words he uses describe it very well
so I do no really like the poem.
I am now going to describe the Dulce ET Decorum EST Pro Patria Mori poem. This poem is
written by Wilfred Owen who was on active service during the First World War. He was a young
man and was against the terrible waste of life in the First Would War which he believed was due to
bad leadership by the generals. Wilfred Owen was able to experience the war as it really was. The

Kansas Anymore Descriptive Writing
We are not in Kansas Anymore
It s not fair, I huffed, I don t want to leave! This is my home! My mother s brown eyes stared
back at me, filled with a knowledge and understanding I had yet to possess and would lack for
years to come. She left the barren living room, leaving behind a trace of the fruity perfume she
always wore. It was futile to argue; the boxes were packed and ready to be loaded onto the
trucks in a few hours. Having nowhere else to sit, I descended to the floor. The light oak wooden
floorboards that used to be clothed in rugs were now naked. In the next month, new pairs of feet
would walk on these boards.
My foot started a steady tapping rhythm on the floor, and I could no longer stay seated. Time was
not my ally, and my inevitable departure was looming over me. I gathered what was left of myself
up off the floor and took one last tour of my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My grandfather taught me how to sand the walls, readying them for paint. It took hours of hard
manual labor sanding every inch of the walls before they were ready to be painted. In preparation
for the new wall color, blue tarps were scattered on the floor, ready to catch every rogue drop of
paint. My mom taught me how to hold the brush, and I could still feel her patient hands guiding my
first strokes.
I snapped back into reality and opened my door. I stepped out into the narrow hallway, and I rested
my hand on the door knob. The door was almost closed when I had a sudden urge to sneak one last
glance at my room. Not being able to let go of my room, I cracked the door open again. My eyes
rested on the skeleton of the room, and I gently closed the door.
Needing to see more of the house, I started descending the curved staircase. I stopped halfway
down the staircase and savored the view. My eyes wandered around to the rooms that I would no
longer use. Rooms that were once filled with people and belongings were now piled high with

My Experience At The Train Station
I first arrived in Spain this summer fresh off my first year at DU, traveling internationally for the
first time without my family, and ready to take on this new adventure into the unknown with my
friends. I knew just enough Spanish to get by, and I couldn t wait to explore the city and test the
limits of my comfort. I arrived at the train station in Santander, a small cityon the northern coast of
Spain, with one of my best friends from DU, Morgan. We then found other DU students
traveling with us during this study abroad program, and met the program coordinator. Standing
in the tiny train station, with the local Spaniards passing us by and the sliding automatic doors
letting in the humid, warm air, the program coordinator explained to us the logistics of the
program, some basic information about Spanish customs, and introduced us to our host
families. Morgan and I were presented to our host mom and dad, an older Spanish couple named
Luisi and Demetrio, we gave the customary kisses on each cheek, and then we were off. Much of
the first day passed by in an overwhelming flurry of sights, sounds, smells as they drove, Luisi
chatted about the city and their lives there. We arrived at a house, small by US standards, but
large by European. A few chickens wandered in the yard in the front, three dogs greeted us as we
approached the house, and two more were waiting inside. Everything was perfect and I was in love.
However, this feeling didn t last for long. With our halting,

Chesapeake Ship Trip
In April 1999, I was in Washington on business and a friend invited me for a sail on his Melges
24 sport sailboat he kept at Annapolis. I drove there on Sunday, and sailed on the Chesapeake. I
had never experienced a sailboat as nimble and quick as that boat, and I immediately wanted one.
Alas, they were too expensive, but I found one in Houston a year later and Sarah and I went
down to investigate. The cockpit is long enough to accommodate a crew of four, and there is no
built up transom to enable the water that comes in over the side can immediately escape out the
back. A strap secures the stern. Sarah immediately became concerned with the stern and perhaps
the entire boat! At lunch, she expressed her concerns, however for the first time in our marriage;
I went against her wishes and bought it. I bought it and towed it home. She remained upset for a
while! I don t believe I had ever gone against her wishes before, or she mine. Blanche arrived
shortly after that and eased the tension a bit. I paid $19,000 for it. She sailed on the boat several
times on it and related later she understood why I liked it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Problem Of Textbooks Prices
During the Spring semester of 2017, I completed my Applied Field Experience in the state s largest
student run nonprofit organization, New Jersey Public Interest Research Group (NJPIRG). I
worked on the Making Textbooks More Affordable campaign, which addressed the problem of
prohibitively high textbooks prices.
A survey that involved more than 2,000 college students in 33 states and 156 different campuses
finds out that average student spends $1,200 each year on textbooks and supplies alone, which
equals to 39 percent of tuition and fees at a community college, and 14 percent of tuition and fees
at a four year public university (Bidwell, 2014). Moreover, according to data from the Bureau of
Labor Statistics, the price of textbook has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually, students still have to endure the excessively high price of textbooks. So, how to reduce
the price of textbooks fundamentally should be taken into consideration.
NJPIRG came up with the idea of Open and Affordable Textbook (OAT) Project since 2014.
They asserted that universities should found the project by letting professors adopting open and
free textbooks for their classes, so students can save money on textbooks. Open textbooks are
defined as textbooks have been funded, published, and licensed to be freely used, adapted, and
distributed while download for no cost. These books have been reviewed by faculty from a variety
of colleges and universities to assess their quality (Open Textbook Library). Many colleges and
universities in America have successful open textbooks program for reference, including the
University of Massachusetts Amherst, Kansas State University, Tacoma Community College and
the University of Maryland, and so on.
After two years of effort, NJPIRG successfully persuade the Rutgers University to launch the OAT
Project to protect students interest. In spring 2017, the first cycle of the OAT Project was
implemented by Rutgers Library. According to the library, thirty two grants of $1,000 each were
awarded to faculty and instructors across the system who chose to adopt, remix, or create a free or
low cost textbook, as an alternative to traditional course materials (Rutgers

Summary Of The Ugly Truth About Beauty By Dave Barry
In The Ugly Truth about Beauty by Dave Barry, Barry points out that men and women have
different views on beauty. According to the author, men would consider themselves as average
looking, and after they shave, men would rather talk about more pressing issues like sports than
their looks. Barry also points out women do not think of themselves as beautiful, and I believe that
it hard to convince a womanto do so. He uses the example of Barbie because girls grow up playing
with the doll and compare themselves to Barbie and try to emulate the doll. There is a multibillion
dollar beauty product industry created around the impossible goal of looking like Barbie. Women
may try their hardest to reach it but never come close. Barry also states that men would not notice

Aging in woman is unbeautiful since women grow more powerful with time... (Wolf 214). In
Wolf s view, beauty is not constricted to aesthetics. Throughout her essay Wolf shows that the
male dominated society is to keep women too worried of how they look. This idea of beauty
comes from men who want to keep women under their control and prevent women from gaining
power. In the 1840s, the first nude photographs of prostitutes were taken; advertisements using
images of beautiful women first appeared in mid century (Wolf 215). This is an example of how
media can show what is considered beautiful. We can now see something similar in contemporary
time in which beauty magazines show young woman on the cover who are considered beautiful
by the standards of society. The issue of the beauty magazine is it talks about how to get the
perfect body with help of a certain brand of makeup. These images of photo shop perfection begins
to affect the way woman see themselves and deem themselves as

Essay about The War of 1812
The War of 1812
On June 18, 1812, the United States declared war on Great Britain. The peace treaty to end the
war was signed in Europe, 1814. The war lasted from 1812 to the spring of 1815 because there
was a delay in communications. It was fought along the Canadian border, along with several sea
battles. By the time the war was over the United States lost 2,260 soldiers, and the British 1,600
soldiers. The war of 1812 was a very significant event that took place in the U.S. It did in fact
confirm America s independence. That is why it is often referred to as the second war of
independence or the second revolutionary war.

The British maritime policy was influenced by it s jealousy of America s commercial growth. Even
though both France and Britain violated the United States neutral rights on the seas, the United
States resented Britain maritime policies more because they dominated the seas. The U.S. tried to
peacefully change the policies of the European powers. There would not be a British maritime
policy if it had not been for the war with France. The policy was intended to destroy Frances
economy.
During the Napoleonic Wars the Royal Navyexpanded to 175 ships of the line and 600 ships
overall, requiring 140,000 sailors. The Royal Navy turned to impressments when it didn t have
enough able bodies to man the ships. The Royal Navy went after Royal Navy Veterans or deserters
who had left and became sailors in the United States merchant navy by intercepting and searching
U.S merchant ships. Britain also considered any U.S. citizen born in British liable for
impressments. The inability to distinguish Americans from non Americans due to a wide spread of
use of false identity led to frequent impressments of Americans that had never been British. This
became a major grievance.
The United States attempted to change the European policies by the Embargo Act of 1807, after
the Chesapeake affair of 1807. The Embargo Act banned all American ships from foreign trade.

Music And Culture Of Los Angeles
At the beginning of the twenty first century, popular music and culture became significant
influences on the lives of many individuals within the city of Los Angeles. East Los Angeles ( East
L.A. or the Eastside ), in particular, was a center of flourishing musical, cultural, and social scenes
with strong connections to the changing Chicano/a identity. Under this environment in which the
Chicano movement (moviemiento) continued to prevail, a large number of socially aware and
politically active, Latin fusion Chicano bands were developed. One of such was the Ozomatliband,
who strived to express their activist viewpoints through popular music. The spatial context of the
band s emergence, their links to past musical movements, and their implementation of a wide
array of musical styles and genres all define their impact on Chicano identity in Los Angeles.
Through their music, the Ozomatli band has showed much about the importance of the
changing Chicano culture and served as the framework for cultural and social dynamics of
present day Los Angeles. Ozomatli, which originated in Los Angeles, California, is a six piece
(six person), all male band that was formed in 1995. The name Ozomatli is derived from the
Nahuatl (Uto Aztecan language) word for the Aztec god of dance who is represented as a monkey
figure in the famous Aztec Sun Stone ( The Battle of Los Angeles 725). This band plays a variety

Congenital Central Hypoventilation Central Alveolar Hypoventilation Syndromes Introduction
Sleep can be simply defined as a reversible behavioral state of perceptual disengagement from and
unresponsiveness to the environment (Kryger, Roth Dement). As far as the sleeping disorders are
concerned, they involve the difficulties that are associated to sleeping. When an individual has
difficulty in falling or staying asleep, falling asleep at wrong times, falling asleep unnecessarily, or
shows other abnormal sleep behaviors, he/she is said to have a sleep disorder. Congenital Central
Hypoventilation Syndrome The Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome or CCHS is
categorized as a parasomnia. Such sleep disorders are the symptoms of central nervous system
activation that are generally transmitted through skeletal muscle or autonomic nervous system
channels ( The International Classification of Sleep Disorders, Revised: Diagnostic and Coding
Manual 19). CCHS is an uncommon syndrome that is mostly present from the time of birth. It is
widely defined as the malfunctioning of automatic control of breathing. The affected individuals
have missing or insignificant ventilatory sensitivity to hypercapnia and hypoxaemia during sleep
and wakefulness (Chen, and Keens 182). This is the reason why patients with CCHS experience
progressive hypercapnia and hypoxaemia during sleep (Chen, and Keens 182). Hypoventilation

Culture And The Culture Of Immigrants
Culture/pg. 34: the language, beliefs, values, norms, behaviors, and even material objects that
characterize a group and are passed from one generation to the next. In the video documentary
called Wetback, the culture of immigrants was very thoroughly seen. All of them struggle to find
work at their home country, and they want nothing more than to provide for themselves and
their family. They manage to live off of very little, but it is not enough and is obviously not the
best way to go through life. Because of this, the culture of the immigrant is created. People of all
ages and each gender make the decision to migrate to other countries such as the U.S. in hopes
of finding a better paying job in order to send money back to their families. This would also be
known as a better life to most of them. The idea of not worrying about if they will eat tomorrow
sounds heavenly to them, and if there is a chance that they may find that somewhere else, no
matter how dangerous, they will take it. Their culture is based off of poverty and hopes of finding
a better life for the people surrounding them. Every parent works as hard as they can for their child
s education, but sadly a lot of the people are not able to afford it. Because of these awful living
conditions and non beneficial outcomes, many people are forced to take on the tough, dangerous,
and terrifying journey to another country in hopes of a better lifestyle. Unfortunately, their culture
experiences terrible things, from

When writing the Needs/Problem Statement they must be careful they are not preaching to the
choir. Most funders are already somewhat aware of the problems in the community. Instead of
telling the funder what they already know (where they are coming from) they may try to inform
them what approach they are going to take to help provide the community an end to the problem.
The Literature Review is vital to the process as it provides objective support data and rationales for
the arguments in the proposal and the development of the interventions. It is a well developed
review of relevant information from creditable sources to lean support to the approaches presented
in the proposal.
The writer needs to briefly identify why their Target Population(s) should be funded when another
group or population whom may be equally at need should not be funded. What makes their target
population stick out and be better suited for the funding?
Approaches and Methods are often referred to as goals and objectives, and activities and timelines
by some funding agencies. This part of the proposal contains a lot of information so the writer
should start off with a summary. It is important to reach the target population as if they do not the
proposal would be worthless.
The Vision, Mission, Goals, Objectives, Activities, and tasks are the terms program planners use.

Importance Of Disconnection In Workplace Communication
Upon your request, I have researched communication in the workplace for the organization and its
upcoming projects. The knowledge gathered and discussed in this document could possibly be
applied to our organization and the new project. This document will outline disconnection in
workplace communication, leadershipstyles in a workplace, huddles and debriefings, emails and
Instant message in a workplace, and motivation of employees.
Many employees see themselves as disconnected from workplace communication. In a recent report
done by Gallup, a research and performance management consulting company, 74 percent of
employees feel they are detached from receiving important information from their companies
(Dynamic Signal, 2017). The study also found that employees were not using their intranet within
the company, but the vast majority of employees do own and use their smartphones regularly.
Communication budgets are also stagnating and this might be due to an absence of understanding
the importance of superior internal communication in boosting productivity and profits. Many
businesses are unaware that poor internal communication and lack of information for employees is
costing them money.
Email is prevalent form of technological communication, but instant messaging and texting is a
growing form of communication in many workplaces. The amount of people who use instant
messaging at work went up from 31 percent in 2014 to 41 percent in 2017 (Herzlich, 2017). There

Sodium Chloride Lab
Sodium Chloride is added to the ice to lower the melting point of the ice, which is called ionic
dissociation. The sodium chloride is added to the ice in the larger bag in order to keep the
dissolving ice from becoming room temperature. Sodium chloride keeps the ice/ slush at a low
temperature that allows the ice/slush to start chilling the cream and milk which is located in the
smaller bag. The freezing point drops to about 10 degrees Celsius. This allowed the ice/ slush to
remain cold at a low temperature. The sodium chloride prevents hydrogen bonds and keeps the
water molecules solid. This is called freezing point depression. This is one of the colligative
properties of science. Without the temperature dropping, the ice/ slush would not remain cold and
crystals would not be able to form in the smaller bag. The crystals create the ice cream s texture.
The solution with the sodium chloride interferes with the production of crystals. The heat... Show

Then, when about 8 minutes passed, the ice became mostly slush and water. I felt that it was
still at a cold temperature. I noticed how larger crystals were forming in the bag with the milk
and cream. It had a thick texture. The sodium chloride kept the ice/ slush cold in order to freeze
the milk and cream in the bag. I noticed how cold the bag became when more salt was added.
The salt, when put in the bag, sped up the speed of the reaction occurring. I felt the bag become
increasingly colder and even when we put a towel on the bag, this did not affect the reaction. The
heat the towel gave off was not enough to slow down the reaction occurring. The ice cream froze
evenly for the most part. When my group took the small bag out that contained the milk and
cream, I could see the very large crystals that formed during the reaction. Since they were large
crystals, the ice cream did not melt quickly when I was enjoying

Much is mentioned about Ethiopia in the bible and as more slaves started to read about it soon
concluded that their homeland was part of the Garden of Aden, cradle of mankind . (Napti).
These revelations about Ethiopia came at a time when majority of African people, inside and
outside of Africa were ruled by white supremacy. Ethiopia one of the few places still not
dominated by white power became for all the Africans living in despair and oppression, a place
of freedom and of pride in their heritage. Soon after, hope emerged among the black population,
especially in Jamaica, where they lived in despair and poverty, oppressed by white ruling as
well. During the 19th century, when many Africans learn to write and read English, some grew
to be quite known and respected, in particular Marcus Garvey, a Jamaican born scholar. He was
seen as a prophet among the people living in the slums of Kingston, Jamaica. During this time,
the Rastafarian religion was not quite established yet; however his travels, organizational
abilities and pioneering efforts established a basis and a spirit for a foundation for Rastafari s
development (Dubb). He wanted to unify Africa in order to create a government ruled by the
black people. Garvin s vision was for blacks to overcome their feelings of inferiority

Political Changes In The Tang Dynasty
Political changes in this time period in East Asia included the fall of the Tang and the rise of the
Song. The Tang dynasty was in the midst of internal rebellion and nomadic invasions (Martin
117). This eventually led to the abdication of the last emperor, causing the Tang to fall (Bentley
and Ziegler 286). One major change during the Tang era was the rule of Wu Zhao, a female leader.
This was surprising, considering the Confucian belief that women should not lead, but instead be
lead by men. The Song dynastyarose when centralized imperial rule was reestablished by warlords
who ruled Chinaafter the Tang dynastys collapse. Unlike the Tang dynasty, the Song dynasty did

For example, the civil service examination system was abolished, as well as the Confucian
curriculum in education. The Yuan dynasty eventually fell because of rebellions and
assassinations, along with the flawed accounts of the wealth that backed up the flying money.
An outbreak of the bubonic plague in 1368 also added to these problems (Bentley and Ziegler
447). Replacing the Yuan dynasty was the Chinese led Ming dynasty. Under Ming rule, Mongol
influences were swapped for Chinese culture as Emperor Hongwu reinstated the traditional
Confucian curriculum in education and the civil service exams. In Japan, as the Heian period
(794 1192) declined, the power was transferred from the emperor to the shogun. During the
Heian period, Japan was ruled by local rulers who answered to the emperor, who was still
considered the supreme political power of Japan (Bentley and Ziegler 300). The emperor, in turn,
was controlled by the powerful Fujiwara family. Heian Japan declined, however, as Japan was
divided into estates ruled by aristocrats. In the late 11th century, two of these aristocratic clans, the
Taira clan and the Minamoto clan, went to war with each

Columbia and Drug Trade Essay
Columbia and Drug Trade
Nowadays, when someone thinks of Colombia, they unfortunately almost always think of two
things, coffee and cocaine (with its associated guerilla warfare). It is true that during the last 50
years these two products, one legal, and the other not, have been great monetary contributors to the
Colombian economy. Coffee is Colombia s principal agricultural product, and it is also the
country s second largest export. The production of coffee uses 300,000 farms and employs almost
one million people (Steiner 6). Conversely, cocaine is a completely illegal product, but it earns
almost twice as much money as coffee (Steiner 6). Also, in contrast with the production of coffee,
cocaine uses fewer employees but earns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drug dealers have captured a great deal of power in Colombia, and have adopted the position of
the government in many instances. The drug trade has ruined the image of Colombia, and has
caused the world to forget about the other goods produced in Colombia, like coffee, flowers, oil
and gas for instance. As the website put out by the Colombian Government Trade Bureau entitled
Colombia Trade News states,
Colombia is well endowed with minerals and energy resources. It has the largest coal reserves in
Latin America and is second to Brazil in hydroelectric potential. The country s oil reserves total
about 2.6 billion barrels. However, these are estimated to represent less than 20% of the country s
actual oil potential. This site also discusses how Colombia s unique climate and topography allow
for success in production of natural goods such as the aforementioned coffee, flowers, tropical
fruits, and livestock to name a few ( Colombia Trade News ).
The earning of mass amounts of drug money has created a debate about whether the drug trade has
helped or hurt the Colombian economy. Specifically, the debate centers on how narcotics have
affected the economy in the short and long runs because the drug trade, in reality, has brought in
millions of dollars. How this money, earned by trafficking drugs, has returned (or not returned) to
the country and its population through its

Naughton Thesis Statement
Thesis Statement: Naughton s overall goal in this article was for the audience to consider both
sides of the argument and create their own belief upon the matter by using rhetorical choices such
as appealing to expert opinions, statistics used in a poll, the tone and advanced diction.
Quote 1: Although there is much still to understand about the brain, the impact of the internet has
helped us to learn new ways of measuring its organization as a network. It has also begun to show
us that the human brain probably does not represent some unique pinnacle of complexity but may
have more in common than we might have guessed with many other information processing
networks (Naughton 445).
Analysis 1: I will use this in my first body paragraph as a example of the rhetorical choice appeal
to expert opinion with the expert expressing the internet affects the brain in a positive way. The
majority of the article and the overall rhetorical choice used by Naughton is the use of different
opinions of experts and writers to strength the article s credibility. Naughton displays the statements
of both arguments which can pursued the reader to form their own opinion depending on which
experts point of view appealed to them. In this quotes case, the writer of this statement is Ed

background regarding the argument in a psychological stand point. His statement that the impact of

Endocrinology Personal Statement
The vagaries of human hormones have interested me since I watched all five of my dad s siblings
get diagnosed with diabetes. Watching adults check their blood sugars and teach each other to use
syringes became routine at family gatherings. I tried to understand how to avoid this seemingly
genetic inheritance was what drew me to pursue medicinein the first place. Now as I look to the
next stage of my education, Endocrinology is the most apt field for me. While reading about a
particular case in the Endocrine clinic, I came across a quote by an Endocrinologist who described
the field as, a discipline that provides continuing intellectual stimulation, pragmatic satisfaction, and
great promise of discovery. This clearly delineated all the attributes of Endocrinology that I look

I am fortunate to have seen interesting cases and even present at the American Society of

that the differential for nearly every patient s chief complaint included a thorough Endocrine
evaluation. Seemingly simple treatment of blood pressure or headache would involve engaging
discussions of negative feedback loops and hormone imbalances. I was convinced that a well
rounded medical education required a thorough understanding of Endocrinology. The
comprehensive nature of Endocrinology challenges physicians to translate basic biochemistry and
physiology directly into patient care. The chance to treat symptoms and pathologies of various

The Legal Regulation Of Printing Press Disrupted The...
Those of us who care about continuing the copyright tradition that regards public access to
information as the principal goal of the law are faced with the hard task of searching for and
exploring middle ground scenarios wherein author/publisher interests in receiving compensation
can be balanced with user/library interests in having access to information on fair and reasonable
terms. Finding and implementing such a balance is all the more challenging in view of the
messianic fervor that the Green Paper has engendered in the publishing industry. As we search for
middle grounds, it may help to realize new technologies have been disrupting existing equilibria for
centuries, yet balanced solutions have been found before. The printing press disrupted the
equilibrium of its day. When the first legal regulation of printing proved imbalanced, legislative
adjustments achieved a public policy balance that has lasted for a considerable period of time.
While the history of copyrightreveals many examples of disruptions caused by new technology and
the construction of new balanced equilibria, one relatively recent instructive example is that of the
cable television industry. When cable technology made it possible to transmit television
programming to cable subscribers, owners of programming copyrights sought to stop this
retransmission, saying it would be their ruination. Courts, however, found no copyright
infringement, saying that passive retransmissions of signals were not public

Modernization and Dependency Theory
Modernization and Dependency theory
Nowadays the rapid development of the word and the growing integration of countries can hardly
fail to affect the development of new theories which attempt to explain the relationship between
countries and the existing inequality between developed countries and countries of the third world.
In this respect, it is possible to refer to Modernization theory and Dependency theory which, being
quite different, still have certain similarities in their views on the modern world and relationships
between developed and developing countries.
It is worthy of mention that the comparison of these theories will help better understand the current
trends in international relations and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, differences between Modernization theory and Dependency theory result from the origin of
Dependency theory which, as it has been already mentioned above, was developed in response to
Modernization theory. On analyzing existing differences between the two theories, first of all, it is
necessary to underline that Modernization theory views the development of the world and
relationships between developed and developing countries as the relationships of potentially equal
countries which are just at a different stage of development at the moment. To put it more
precisely, Modernization theory stands on the ground that western countries are well developed
and western way of development is viewed as the most successful and perspective while there is
practically no other alternatives to this way of the development. This is why the supporters of this
theory insist on the necessity to develop the cooperation between developed and developing
countries in order to make the latter closer to the former. What is meant here is the fact that
Modernization theory underlines the necessity of borrowing the experience of western countries by
developing countries of the Third world (Scott 196). Basically, developing countries should follow
blindly the example of more developed western countries and this will bring them economic, social,

failed to notice, however, that faking a moon landing would take months and years. If people

two million are unhappy, something is wrong. Citizens it todays society are either wealthy or
poor, there is no in between. The social gap between the upper class and the rest of society is too
large. Lower class citizens, including children, have to work very hard to try and make ends
meet; many times, women will have to join the workforce. The wealthy live a very comfortable
life, while the lower class and hard working citizens struggle with daily life and providing for their

No matter what sex or race you are, everybody deserves an equal chance. There should not be a
big gap between the high class and the lower class. This gap needs to be changed. The poor
people in todays society are working way too hard for the money they are making. It is hard for
these people to live happy lives. There should not be people sitting at home with no worries
what so ever, while other citizens are working their hardest just to put food on the table. All
people should have the opportunity to get a decent job and live happy lives. This may come
down to taxing the wealthier more. There is a big difference when it comes to the wealthy and
the poor people. The wealthy have enough money to be taxed more and still live comfortable
lives for and give their children happy lives. That is not right or fair to some people. Something
needs to change. Nobody should be worrying about making enough money to support a family of
their own, or even have a roof over their head for themselves. Women should not have to work
hard labor jobs. Women should be able to chose their job depending on their skills. They should
not have to dread getting up to work in a factory or mill. Not only that, but they run the risk of
getting injured every day, as well. If a woman cannot work because she was injured at work, the
family will not be able to support itself. Children, especially, should not be working in factories
and mills. They are just children, and some of them not educated enough to do a job like this.
This gives them more of a chance of being injured on the job. That can lead to multiple injuries if
someone tries to help, then that becomes a big problem. Kids should be able to be kids until they
are the proper age to start schooling or the workforce. Kids should have an education before
entering the workforce. They should not have to worry about waking up early every day to go to
work and run the chance of getting severely injured. The

Taking a Look at the Titan Arum
The Titan arum is a magnificent plant that stands high above the plumage of other plants. It is a
member of the Araceae family that is known to grow an inflorescence while also being enclosed
by a leafy shield known as a spathe. The Titan arum, or Amorphophallus titanum was first
discovered by Italian botanist Odoardo Beccari in 1878. Titan arumare known to grow as large as
3.06 meters tall in controlled botanical gardens (Barthlott et al.). Just a single blossomed flower
of the Titan arum can stretch out to be three feet across and 36 pounds. The flowers also retain a
darkish red, almost flesh colored hue (Milius). It took a staggering 11 years for the first instance
of blooming to occur in this plant in 1889 at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The snail like
pace of this flowers maturity is demonstrated by the fact that only 21 flowerings were recorded
across the world until 1989. In all aspects of size, this flower trumps others. the Titan arum s
flowering structure can grow up to measurements of 10 centimeters a day up to a height of 2.9
meters or roughly 9 and a half feet tall. Leaf height can reach a towering height of 6 meters, leaf
width can reach 4.5 meters, and the tuber, the energy storing structure of the plant, can grow to be

The Descent Of Alette Analysis
In The Descent of Alette, the word flower is used very often, but beyond its literal meaning as
the reproductive portion of a plant. However, this definition does tie into Notley s use of the
word very well, because her uses of the word flower are centered around a description of women.
The use of the word flowerto describe women does not occur in the obvious sense of meaning
beautiful, peaceful, or lovely, but in describing aspects of women that lie beneath the surface and
comprise their femininity. This may come across as a sweet notion, but The Descent of Alette is a
story that cannot be described as sweet in any sense of the word, mainly because of its setting in a
dystopian society run by a tyrant. It is not stated, but it can be inferred,... Show more content on

This point holds true for The Descent of Alette as it acts as a cautionary tale of the dangers for
women in patriarchal societies by featuring a very apparent phenomenon. The story being based
within a dystopia adds emphasis on how disastrous a world run without the aid of a woman would
be. Notley s inclusion of situations that accentuate the gender hierarchy and the social constructs
that force women to fulfill society s expectations work to establish the value of femininity. In
using the flowers to represent femininity, Notley is able to delicately present the stakes of living
without this attribute, making us have to read between the quotation marks and the lines to
realize how horrid a life would be like without this sense of womanhood. Epic poetry also
depends on the existence of a hero who must overcome adversity and, by doing so, exalt the
values cherished by a people or nation (Mercadal). This statement does a good job of describing
Alette s role within the story. All throughout she witnessed the burning of flowers and the
disadvantages women faced all while having to overcome obstacles herself, but in the end, she was
able to kill the tyrant and allow everything to C[o]me to light that morning so the flowers could

worked with Freud in the early days of the founding of psychoanalysis, and then went his own way,
founded his own school of psychology, became rather eccentric, and is worthy of only the most
cursory of mentions in introductory text books. To other psychologists, he is possibly the most

Argumentative Essay On Beach Erosion
Every year millions of dollars of state and federal dollars are spent to essentially place tons of
sand on America s beaches. This process known as beach nourishment. Proponents often point to
this method as effective way is a way to fight against beach erosion The causes of this erosion are
both manmade and natural, but regardless of the cause this process is only a stop gap that does not
actually address this issue. Instead, both the federal and state governments have spent billions of
dollars over the last few decades to fight the process of erosion with unintended consequences for
both the environment and citizens.
In New Jersey alone state, local and federal agencies have spent 1.2 billion dollars over the last
thirty years to dump 120 million cubic yards of sand over the state s coastline. This high price tag
is in part due to the fact that the sand that is placed on the coastline quickly erodes and a new
project must be undertaken. In fact, sand used to nourish beaches erodes at a rate that is often two
to three times faster than natural sand. This creates a cycle in which beaches are constantly needing
to be renourished and does nothing to actually prevent the process of erosion. ... Show more content

Essay about The Painted Bird, Examining The Human Condition
In the book The Painted Bird Jerzy Kosinski covers many topics of the human character. Some of
the human conditions that Kosinski shows us in the book are lying, deceit, love, anger, prejudice,
superstition. In the Painted Bird Kosinski mainly focuses on the three human conditions hate,
prejudice (judgment), and love. He is clear in showing that humans sin a great deal, and feel hate,
prejudice, and love.
The beginning of the book gives us an idea of how the boy will be treated throughout the story
because of his race and how he is judged by others. One of the first adults we see the boy with when
he is separated from his parents is Marta. Marta is a very old woman who seems to not care for the

The villagers believed in these superstitions and followed them religiously to keep themselves
safe from a gypsy such as the boy. As the boy continued his childhood he learns of more and more
horrific ways that people of his kind are treated by the Germans.
Within chapters 2 3 the boy clearly learns how he is judged by the villagers and the value of his
life to them. After Marta s house burnt down the boy flees to a nearby village to find help, and
safety. Along the way he runs into other villagers who recognize the boy as a gypsy. As the boy
sat crying he was surrounded by the men and women who beat him while others watched. This is
a very sad time for the boy and a hard time because this is the first instance in which he is truly
beaten in the book, because of his race. We later learn the similarity between the painted birdand
the boy. The boy could be considered the painted bird because he is an outcast like the bird and
treated indifferently as the bird. As the boy travels throughout the story he is constantly humiliated
and beaten by many strangers and his caretakers humiliate him verbally. This teaches the boy to an
extent how others will treat him and what to expect from other villagers he might come across in
his life.
Throughout the story we encounter love consistently, in these encounters the boy learns how love
can affect a mob or a person to be jealous or have hate towards others. One of

We found that water s edge contained a much higher species richness and Shannon diversity index

Shannon diversity index could be due to the diverse vegetation growing around the pond. The
lower evenness tells us that this site is less diverse than the other two sites. Secondly, the wooded
area contained slightly lower species richness and Shannon diversity index than the water s edge;

The high evenness is due to fewer species being present at this site. The results of this lab
supported my hypothesis that the water s edge would have the highest biodiversity, the wooded area
would have medium biodiversity, and the manicured lawn would have the lowest biodiversity.
The reason that the results support my hypothesis is that the water s edge had a diverse
vegetation around it for a variety of species to be found. It also had the pond where species could
be found. The wooded area contained many layers of leave coverage which is good for some
species but bad for others. The wooded area is also subject to runoff which reduced the number
of small species that could be found on the ground. The manicured lawn is cut often causing a
reduced amount of species that would be found on the ground and not enough trees to counteract

Wrinkles And Aging Signs Research Paper
What Causes Wrinkles Aging Signs? One of the main causes of wrinkles and other outward
aging signs is free radical damage. The primary cause of free radical damage and a prematurely
aged appearance is overexposure to the sun. Sun Exposure EXPOSED Knowing that more people
are being cautious about their exposure to sunlight, researchers have begun to look more closely at
other contributing factors. Vitamin D is Vital The average person s exposure to sunlight has
decreased enough in the past few decades to have caused an increased incidence in vitamin D
deficiency among the general population. The body produces vitamin D due to exposure to
sunlight. There are few naturally occurring dietary sources. The type found in supplements is not

Theme of Social Hierarchy in William Shakespeare s Henry...
Theme of Social Hierarchy in William Shakespeare s Henry V, Twelfth Night and Macbeth
Henry V, Twelfth Night, and Macbeth cover the whole field of Shakespearean genres, but it is
amazing how Shakespeare displays a theme and carries it through in any kind of play he wants
to. Historic, comic, and tragic plays are about as different as you can get, yet when we take a
closer look we see many similarities among them, especially in the area of social hierarchy. In all
three of these plays, Shakespeare uses a similar theme, which he conveys and proves through his
characters. Twelfth Night s Malvolio, and Macbeths Macbeth, Henry V s Henry all hold social
status, and they spread the social scale, one a servant, one a nobleman, and one a ... Show more

Malvolio is a servant, desiring and seeking to climb the social ladder by marrying his master, a
wealthy woman in society. Malvolio is stepping far beyond his bounds as a servant, and he
doesn t see that he is out of line. To marry up a class level was unheard of, but Malvolio doesn t
even seem to think about this. He is set on winning Olivia s love from the moment he thinks
about the things he can get from it. He isn t really punished for his committal of a social taboo,
but he is demeaned and taken back down to a servant s level through the joke that Toby, Maria,
and Feste play on him. Shakespeare doesn t say that marrying up is wrong, because the marriage
of Maria and Toby is given a positive light. Shakespeare does make it very clear that it is not
proper for a servant, or anyone for that matter, to attempt to climb the social lattice, especially
through marriage.
In Macbeth, Macbeth is a Thane, a much higher social status than a slave. This is a position of
nobility, and Macbeth is content with it. His and Banquo s meeting with the Weird Sisters and the
subsequent fulfillment of part of the witches prophecies about Macbeth is what begins to
discontent Macbeth. Macbeth says, If chance may have me King, why, chance may crown me
(Macbeth I.iii.158), but it is shortly after this that Macbeth is easily drawn in by his wife s
enticement with power and

The Battle Of Lexington And Concord
By the rude bridge that arched the flood, their flag to April s breeze unfurled, here once the
embattled farmers stood, and fired the shot heard round the world... primary source Ralph Waldo
Emerson s poem Concord Hymn was written about the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Although
this poem is not a good answer on who shot first during this battle, it does open the idea about the
battle itself and makes you think who shot first. I believe that the Americans shot first at this Battle.
What happened at the Battle of Lexington and Concord? Though it has been called a battle, it was
more of a skirmish. It happened on April 19th the year 1775 in Middlesex Country, province of
Massachusetts Bay during the American Revolution. The British were marching to Concord
because of the arms depot of the Americans. The Americans were out numbered, out gunned, and
not as well trained at the British soldiers. On the side of the road there were 40 to 100
speculators of this event. When the British arrived one of the officers rode forward waving his
sword and called out to the militia to disperse and go home, as well as telling them Lay down your
arms, you damned rebels! But the Americans did not lay down their arms so the British commander
Major John Pitcairn told his men to hold fire as did the Americans leader, Captain John Parker,
who was a veteran from the French and Indian War (1754 1763). But, a shot was fired from an
unknown source. By the end of the fight eight militia men lay

Essay on Baroque Music
Baroque Music
In 1600 a new style of music began to evolve, this form of music was later to be called Baroque.
Baroque music was very different to the music before its time such as medieval and early
renaissance music and the development of new harmonic and melodic lines added difference in
pace and variation to the compositions giving them a new shape and form. The structure of the
music also changed, different forms such as fugues and cannons developed and different
instruments were introduced.
There were many composers that wrote music throughout the baroque era, some more significant
than others but each contributing a large amount to the development throughout this period.

Handel s father disapproved of his composing wanting him to study law; however Handel s
intentions were strongly pointed in the direction of his musical talent. Handel became very much
involved in the Opera scene developing in London at this time and became key to it s
development. After leaving Germany he spent a significant amount of time in Florence, Rome,
Naples and Venice and in this time he studied with other influential artists such as
ArcangeloCorelli. He then left Italy in 1710 and moved to Hanover; here he was given the job of
director of music to George Louis, the Elector. Handel was considered as one of England s most
influential composers and after his death in 1710 he was buried in Westminster Abbey.
Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21st l685 and died in 1750, he was said to have a
great ability of bringing the different forms and styles of baroque music to perfection and this
helped him stand out as a significant composer during the baroque era and forward till today. Bach
came from a family with a large amount of musical history making him well known in his home
land of southeast Germany. It was clear that Bach was considered a powerful composer because he
was still dominant to the developments made on the baroque style even though he

Separation Of Powers And The United Kingdom s...
This essay is aimed to focus on and examine the importance of having a separation of powers and
the reasons for having same in the United Kingdom s constitution. We shall further look into the
structure of the United Kingdom s constitution whilst assessing its somewhat unclear separation of
powers which exist and assess the reasons why the United Kingdoms system of government does
not adhere to the doctrine of the separation of powers. The separation of powers is defined as the
political doctrine of constitutional law under which the branches of government are divided to
prevent an abuse of power. These three branches are the Legislative, Executive and Judicial and are
assigned special powers to maintain a check and balance on each other. In this essay, we shall
further go on to discuss the roles and functions of each of the mentioned branches of government
and the extent to which this defined separation of power is enforced and/or practiced in the United
Kingdom s system of government taking into account the traditional structure that has been
maintained over the years.
Aristotle states, There are three elements in each constitution ...first, the deliberative, which
discusses everything of common importance; second the officials; and third, the judicial element.
These three elements as defined by Aristotle are now known as our Legislative, Executive and
Judicial arms of the United Kingdom s system of government.

The War Of World War II
September 3, 1939 was the day that many people s lives changed. That is date of which Great
Britain entered World War II. Great Britain would fight alongside the allied powers, which
consisted of USSR, France, and US. The axis powers, which consisted of Germany, Italy, and
Japan, would try and bomb the allied powers into surrender. This brutal war would go on for
nearly five and a half years, finally ending on May 8, 1945. The end of the war marked both
celebration and mourning. For Great Britain some major turning points during the war were the
Battle of Britain, and the invasion scare. Many families had to make sacrifices during the war,
some of them life changing. The people of Great Britain refused to go to war and were in denial,
many of them would not listen to future Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Churchill warned the
people about Hitler and Nazi Germany . Because of everybody s fear of the war, Britain was not
prepared when it came time for the country to enter the war. After World War I
, Great Britain
wanted to avoid any war at all costs. At the time, Neville Chamberlain was the Prime minister of
Great Britain and he wanted to keep peace throughout the country. After the first world war,
Chamberlain primarily focused on being in the League of Nations and that led to the deterioration
of his armed forces and turn the focus to the inside of the country. The League of Nations was
founded after World War I and it was there to ensure that war never broke out again .

My First Year As Camp Director

And this was only my first year as camp director! This was the group of youth that made me realize
that they have such an influence on the younger youth. I was able to see the campers imitate and
follow their counselors. I am excited to put my plans into motion for next summer. The feelings I
have for the youthI have gotten to know over the past year and a half is outrageous. I have so
much pride in them. They are truly amazing individuals. I have seen so much improvement in
them that now I can also see exponential potential in them also. It has only been one complete 4

the inspiration and motivation to work hard for these youth. I have assigned several roles to
myself to support the growth of older youth in my county and region. I will be a mentor, a friend,
a leader and motivator. I have an advantage when it comes to youth adult partnerships; my age can
dismantle the intimidating authority figure some older youth may see. Our generations, Y
(individuals born in 1981 through 1994) and Z (individuals born after 1994) (Schuckenbrock,
2016), may even overlap some (Geck, 2016). The years to determine Generations X, Y and Z tend

Examples Of Perverted Language In Animal Farm
Animal Farm FRQ
1. Orwell uses perverted language throughout the book to make the leaders manipulate the other
citizens or animals in the book. An obvious example of this is how Napoleon uses Squealer as a
propaganda speaker. Napoleon uses Squealer special skill of talking to animals and getting them to
his side. Orwell also uses the example of Snowball. Snowball was a spy for Jones Napoleon said.
When we see him we just kill him (Orwell 65). The animals at first don t believe it like Boxer by
saying that the animals gave him the Animal Hero First Class. However, the animals get swayed
by Squealer s propaganda and just go with what he says. The final example is when after Snowball
leaves, Napoleon says to build the windmill. He uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Boxer is especially the hard working class because he always woke up early for others and did extra
work. Fredrick is like Hitler and fights Animal Farm. Pilkington is also an enemy of Russia and is
helping Frederick. Snowball is like Leon Trotsky a smart politician that aims to improve Russia.
4.The political allegory in the book comes out in the book in many different places. The political
allegory is that Orwell mocks the Revolution that changed Russians into the USSR. The person
who changed it was a man named Karl Marx. He started a revolution that two different classes
very different. He thought that the world was a struggle of a social class and another. This example
is what Old Major didn t want to happen but happened because of Napoleon. He turned animals
against each other and slaughtered those who disagreed with what he thought was right.
5. Old Major had a dream in the first chapter which he prophesied things that would happen. He
first prophesied that the farm would be run by the animals and also that they would drive Jones
out. He however didn t prophesied that napoleon would take over control and kill many animals in
the farm. Old Major also let the animals sing Beast of England which is like the chant for the
animals on Animal Farm.
6. The narrator is the person who commentates and describes the book in a second hand experience
for the readers. The narrator causes different ironies like when Boxer was sent to the Butcher

percent. In the play Love on the B Line , by Adam Kraar, the biggest conflict between the two
characters Robbie and Marie is that Marie does not want to go back to Robbie s place with him.
What is the big reason that she does not want to? Marie is not open with Robbie as to why she is

Volcano, Volcanic Volcano And Volcanic Ash
A volcano is a rupture in the crust of a planetary mass object that allows lava, volcanic ash, and
gases to escape from a magma chamber below the surface. The Earth s crust is made up of huge
slabs called plates, which fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. The friction caused by the plates moving
from time to time results in earthquakes and volcanic eruptions near the edges of the plates.
There are many different types of volcanoes. (Volcanoes: Principal Types of Volcanoes) The most
common are Cinder volcanoes. This type of volcano occurs when particles and blobs of solid lava
are emitted from a single vent in the center. As the gas charged lava is blown violently into the
air it breaks into small fragments that solidify and fall as cinders around the vent to form an oval
cone. A good example of a cinder cone is the Paricutin Volcano in Mexico that grew out of a corn
field in 1943. The eruptions continued for 9 years and built the cone to a height of 424 meters.
Another type of volcano is the Composite volcanoes also known as Stratovolcano. These are
steep sided volcanoes composed of many layers of volcanic rocks, usually made from high
viscosity lava, ash and rock debris. Famous examples of composite cones are Mayon Volcano in
Philippines, Mount Fuji in Japan, and Mount Rainier in U.S.A.
Then we have, shield volcanoes that are shaped like a warrior s shield in the middle with long
gentle slopes made by basaltic lava flows. This is very fluid lava, usually from multiple vents

Similarities Between Hammurabi And Moses
Hammurabi and Moses When reflecting on significant members of ancient times, Hammurabi and
Moses symbolize substantial advancement in the creation of laws. Hammurabi of Babylon
introduced his code centuries apart from Moses and his laws for the Hebrews; however, there are
similarities shared between the two. Several reasons can be distinguished as to what accounts for
the comparison within each set of laws. Along with having an abundance of similarities, the
differences shared between the two are also evident. To understand the similarities and differences
analyzed in this essay, each set of laws will be compared regarding the treatment of parents,
marriage, dishonesty in court, class systems, importance of agriculture, and the customs of each
civilization. The time period, culture, and geographic location are responsible for the similarities
and differences of Hammurabi s Code and The Law of Moses.
To begin, Hammurabi s Code and The Mosaic Laws included that parents should be obeyed and
respected. This is one characteristic that is shared between the rules. Because of the time in which
Hammurabi and Moses lived in, it was not common to imagine a child disobeying his parents.
People most likely thought that a child would always obey his parents, and that this shared law
was accepted knowledge. Hammurabi states that If a son has struck his father, his hands shall be
cut off, (Hammurabi, 195). Mosaic Law also mentions, If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son

Essay about Global Positioning System
Global Positioning System
Global Positioning System (GPS) technology has been on the market for a number of years now.
Originally developed by the military for logistical tracking and navigation, it has seen a number of
applications for personal and commercial uses in recent years, with more coming down the
development pipeline. GPS uses a constellation of low earth orbit satellites to determine the exact
longitude, latitude and altitude of the user or vehicle with the tracking monitor. This location is
determined by using trilateration between at least three, and preferably four satellites overhead.
However this new emerging technology is not without it s issues, privacy being the biggest one of
them. Ethicists and the public at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However talking to someone on the phone, you somehow find out that you are 40 miles from
San Francisco. This, however useful, still doesn t tell you exactly where you are. Knowing that
you are 40 miles from San Francisco puts you anywhere on a circle around the city at a radius of
40 miles. You find out from another source that you are 25 miles from Berkeley. This gives you
another circle which intersects the first, and gives you two possible locations where you could be,
which are 40 miles from San Francisco and 25 miles from Berkeley. Then if a third person tells
you that you are 18 miles from San Jose, you have a third circle which intersects the first two at just
one point. This gives you the exact location where you are at that moment. You now know that you
are in Fremont at that moment, using the data from the three sources.
Trilateration in 3 dimensional space is very similar in concept, except you are dealing with spheres
instead of circles. If you know your distance from 3 satellites, it would give you two points where
all three spheres intersect. The earth itself creates the fourth sphere and thus determines the
location of the receiver. Receivers generally look for four or more satellites to improve accuracy
and provide precise altitude information.
Figuring out distance from the satellite requires that the receiver calculate how long the signal took
to travel from the satellite to the receiver. Knowing the speed of

discover that it is haunted. There are children in these masks that are trying to kill all of the new
kids. They also find out many things like the haunted house can move it s rooms and hallways
and furniture and the kids in the masks all have something in common with the new kids. This
thing that they have in common is like a curse that is making the kids in the masks trapped in
shadow house. This is why the kids in the masks are trying to kill the new kids, so they don t
have to live with the curse anymore and so the new kids take their places. Also, they realize that
Dylan was killed by Dash accidentally in the past, so Dylan was just his imagination. The last
three things they realized was that the girl in the mirror was trying to help Poppy when Poppy
thought that the girl in the mirror was evil. And that if they take off the masks of the kids in the
masks and make them look at another masked kid, it breaks the curse for that kid. Also, when
Marcus plays his music, it hurts the masked kids for some reason. I believe that all of these things

Decision For Setting Non Financial Targets Essay
Introduction
In the rapidly changing business environment, there is enormous pressure to conduct activities in a
better, controlled and efficient manner. The accelerating change creates uncertainties and
complexities thus creating challenges for management in their strategic plans. Management cannot
continue to rely on Management Accounting Control Systems whose primary emphasis is on
financial targets since such traditional analytical approaches can fail to adapt to the quick and
unexpected economic landscape. This paper provides that managers must not rely on quantitative
performance targets hence supports the argument for setting non financial targets in organizational
objectives
Discussion
The measurement of performance is a great challenge in the contemporary business world since the
non financial targets are hard to ascertain. It implies that an organization could end up with
inefficient and ineffective MACS that lead to poor utilization of resources and ultimately increase
the probability of organizational failure. The increasing strategic uncertainty creates a problem to
quantify the non financial factors that could be incorporated in internal controls (Hirst, 1983).
Unavailability of qualitative targets also creates cases of dysfunctional behaviors by subordinates in
achieving organizational objectives. For a holistic perspective on performance, control strategies
must incorporate non financial indicators since the gains are more than the associated costs (Otley,

The Importance Of Logos In Writing
In every speech you hear, news article you read, and commercial you see rhetoric is being used.
Rhetoric is a technique used to try and persuade or please an audience. When writing, writers
always have to think about the subject of the situation, their audience, the occasion (place and
time), and the purpose or point that they are trying to get across. A key thing that writers focus
on is ethos, logos and pathos, all of these play a huge role in trying to convince the audience to
believe what the speaker believes or buy what they are selling. Ethos is trying to get the
audience to trust you or getting someone who the audience trusts, logos is using logic and reason
like numbers and graphs and statistics, ethos is going after the audience s emotions or beliefs to
make them feel more connected or understanding. With all this in mind, you have to know how
and when to use these different ways of persuasion because if you don t you will have an
inneffective piece of writing. When using your rhetorical devices correcting and you can persuade
someone, that is an effective piece of writing. Man Takes First Steps on the Moon is an example of
an effective piece of writing that persuades the public that Neil Armstronghad made the most
historic scientific achievement in the history of man. In this article it mentions former president
Nixon describing is as one of the greatest moments of our time. This example shows how
mentioning the President at the time can get trust from the

Strategic Management at Brewery Industries Global forces and the European brewing industry This case is centred on the European brewing industry and examines how the increasingly competitive pressure of operating within global markets is causing consolidation through acquisitions, alliances and closures within the industry. This has resulted in the growth of the brewers reliance upon super brands. In the first decade of the twenty first century, European brewers faced a surprising paradox. • 5. The Charge of the Light Brigade Essay The Charge of the Light Brigade War poetry is a theme that has inspired many poets. Compare and contrast poems by 2 poets from different eras and cultures. Say which one you prefer and why. The two poems and the poets that I am going to look at are The Charge of the Light Brigade written by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Dulce ET Decorum Est. Pro Patria Mori by Wilfred Owen. The first poem was written during the reign of Queen Victoria in England. During this time the Victorians as the people were called had a very religious outlook on life. The account was written by the poet because it was such a bad battle that the government couldn t let the people see that it had made a great mistake and so it commissioned Tennyson to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In simple terms the battle was a terrible mistake. The poet seems to be telling a story. He doesn t give any impression of being there. The reader might feel that the poet has no experience of being at the battle. He glorifies the men and the battle as if to hide the mistakes of the commanders and the government, was there a man dismayed? The poet use words like Half a league, half a league, half a league, which gives the impression like the horses were galloping along. Also other words that he uses in it were Cannon to right of them Cannon to left of them and cannon in front of them. Also some of the words he use to describe what was happening to the solider like Boldly they rode and well into the jaws of death into the mouth of hell. This is describing that they are going to face a lot of trouble. There are also six sections to this poem. An overall description of this poem I find it hard to image it as the words he uses describe it very well so I do no really like the poem. I am now going to describe the Dulce ET Decorum EST Pro Patria Mori poem. This poem is written by Wilfred Owen who was on active service during the First World War. He was a young man and was against the terrible waste of life in the First Would War which he believed was due to bad leadership by the generals. • 6. Kansas Anymore Descriptive Writing We are not in Kansas Anymore It s not fair, I huffed, I don t want to leave! This is my home! My mother s brown eyes stared back at me, filled with a knowledge and understanding I had yet to possess and would lack for years to come. She left the barren living room, leaving behind a trace of the fruity perfume she always wore. It was futile to argue; the boxes were packed and ready to be loaded onto the trucks in a few hours. Having nowhere else to sit, I descended to the floor. The light oak wooden floorboards that used to be clothed in rugs were now naked. In the next month, new pairs of feet would walk on these boards. My foot started a steady tapping rhythm on the floor, and I could no longer stay seated. Time was not my ally, and my inevitable departure was looming over me. It took hours of hard manual labor sanding every inch of the walls before they were ready to be painted. My mom taught me how to hold the brush, and I could still feel her patient hands guiding my first strokes. I snapped back into reality and opened my door. I stepped out into the narrow hallway, and I rested my hand on the door knob. The door was almost closed when I had a sudden urge to sneak one last glance at my room. Not being able to let go of my room, I cracked the door open again. My eyes rested on the skeleton of the room, and I gently closed the door. • 7. My Experience At The Train Station I first arrived in Spain this summer fresh off my first year at DU, traveling internationally for the first time without my family, and ready to take on this new adventure into the unknown with my friends. I knew just enough Spanish to get by, and I couldn t wait to explore the city and test the limits of my comfort. I arrived at the train station in Santander, a small cityon the northern coast of Spain, with one of my best friends from DU, Morgan. We then found other DU students traveling with us during this study abroad program, and met the program coordinator. Standing in the tiny train station, with the local Spaniards passing us by and the sliding automatic doors letting in the humid, warm air, the program coordinator explained to us the logistics of the program, some basic information about Spanish customs, and introduced us to our host families. Morgan and I were presented to our host mom and dad, an older Spanish couple named Luisi and Demetrio, we gave the customary kisses on each cheek, and then we were off. Much of the first day passed by in an overwhelming flurry of sights, sounds, smells as they drove, Luisi chatted about the city and their lives there. We arrived at a house, small by US standards, but large by European. A few chickens wandered in the yard in the front, three dogs greeted us as we approached the house, and two more were waiting inside. Everything was perfect and I was in love. I drove there on Sunday, and sailed on the Chesapeake. I had never experienced a sailboat as nimble and quick as that boat, and I immediately wanted one. Alas, they were too expensive, but I found one in Houston a year later and Sarah and I went down to investigate. The cockpit is long enough to accommodate a crew of four, and there is no built up transom to enable the water that comes in over the side can immediately escape out the back. A strap secures the stern. Sarah immediately became concerned with the stern and perhaps the entire boat! At lunch, she expressed her concerns, however for the first time in our marriage; I went against her wishes and bought it. I bought it and towed it home. She remained upset for a while! • 10. The Problem Of Textbooks Prices During the Spring semester of 2017, I completed my Applied Field Experience in the state s largest student run nonprofit organization, New Jersey Public Interest Research Group (NJPIRG). I worked on the Making Textbooks More Affordable campaign, which addressed the problem of prohibitively high textbooks prices. A survey that involved more than 2,000 college students in 33 states and 156 different campuses finds out that average student spends $1,200 each year on textbooks and supplies alone, which equals to 39 percent of tuition and fees at a community college, and 14 percent of tuition and fees at a four year public university (Bidwell, 2014). Moreover, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the price of textbook has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eventually, students still have to endure the excessively high price of textbooks. So, how to reduce the price of textbooks fundamentally should be taken into consideration. NJPIRG came up with the idea of Open and Affordable Textbook (OAT) Project since 2014. They asserted that universities should found the project by letting professors adopting open and free textbooks for their classes, so students can save money on textbooks. Open textbooks are defined as textbooks have been funded, published, and licensed to be freely used, adapted, and distributed while download for no cost. These books have been reviewed by faculty from a variety of colleges and universities to assess their quality (Open Textbook Library). Many colleges and universities in America have successful open textbooks program for reference, including the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Kansas State University, Tacoma Community College and the University of Maryland, and so on. After two years of effort, NJPIRG successfully persuade the Rutgers University to launch the OAT Project to protect students interest. In spring 2017, the first cycle of the OAT Project was implemented by Rutgers Library. According to the library, thirty two grants of $1,000 each were awarded to faculty and instructors across the system who chose to adopt, remix, or create a free or low cost textbook, as an alternative to traditional course materials (Rutgers ... • 11. Summary Of The Ugly Truth About Beauty By Dave Barry In The Ugly Truth about Beauty by Dave Barry, Barry points out that men and women have different views on beauty. According to the author, men would consider themselves as average looking, and after they shave, men would rather talk about more pressing issues like sports than their looks. Barry also points out women do not think of themselves as beautiful, and I believe that it hard to convince a womanto do so. He uses the example of Barbie because girls grow up playing with the doll and compare themselves to Barbie and try to emulate the doll. In the 1840s, the first nude photographs of prostitutes were taken; advertisements using images of beautiful women first appeared in mid century (Wolf 215). East Los Angeles ( East L.A. or the Eastside ), in particular, was a center of flourishing musical, cultural, and social scenes with strong connections to the changing Chicano/a identity. Under this environment in which the Chicano movement (moviemiento) continued to prevail, a large number of socially aware and politically active, Latin fusion Chicano bands were developed. One of such was the Ozomatliband, who strived to express their activist viewpoints through popular music. The spatial context of the band s emergence, their links to past musical movements, and their implementation of a wide array of musical styles and genres all define their impact on Chicano identity in Los Angeles. Through their music, the Ozomatli band has showed much about the importance of the changing Chicano culture and served as the framework for cultural and social dynamics of present day Los Angeles. When an individual has difficulty in falling or staying asleep, falling asleep at wrong times, falling asleep unnecessarily, or shows other abnormal sleep behaviors, he/she is said to have a sleep disorder. Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome The Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome or CCHS is categorized as a parasomnia. Culture And The Culture Of Immigrants Culture/pg. 34: the language, beliefs, values, norms, behaviors, and even material objects that characterize a group and are passed from one generation to the next. In the video documentary called Wetback, the culture of immigrants was very thoroughly seen. All of them struggle to find work at their home country, and they want nothing more than to provide for themselves and their family. They manage to live off of very little, but it is not enough and is obviously not the best way to go through life. Because of this, the culture of the immigrant is created. People of all ages and each gender make the decision to migrate to other countries such as the U.S. in hopes of finding a better paying job in order to send money back to their families. This would also be known as a better life to most of them. The idea of not worrying about if they will eat tomorrow sounds heavenly to them, and if there is a chance that they may find that somewhere else, no matter how dangerous, they will take it. Their culture is based off of poverty and hopes of finding a better life for the people surrounding them. The sodium chloride is added to the ice in the larger bag in order to keep the dissolving ice from becoming room temperature. Sodium chloride keeps the ice/ slush at a low temperature that allows the ice/slush to start chilling the cream and milk which is located in the smaller bag. This is called freezing point depression. This is one of the colligative properties of science. The theory that is was faked cannot explain how it was faked, people have failed to notice, however, that faking a moon landing would take months and years. John Sloan once said, I feel that if five thousand people in this city are wealthy and content and two million are unhappy, something is wrong. Citizens it todays society are either wealthy or poor, there is no in between. The social gap between the upper class and the rest of society is too large. Lower class citizens, including children, have to work very hard to try and make ends meet; many times, women will have to join the workforce. The wealthy live a very comfortable life, while the lower class and hard working citizens struggle with daily life and providing for their families. The same goes for the immigrants; they are no better off than the lower class. They were unwanted and got the worst end of the deal. This big gap between the... This gap needs to be changed. The poor people in todays society are working way too hard for the money they are making. It is hard for these people to live happy lives. There should not be people sitting at home with no worries what so ever, while other citizens are working their hardest just to put food on the table. All people should have the opportunity to get a decent job and live happy lives. This may come down to taxing the wealthier more. There is a big difference when it comes to the wealthy and the poor people. The wealthy have enough money to be taxed more and still live comfortable lives for and give their children happy lives. That is not right or fair to some people. Something needs to change. Nobody should be worrying about making enough money to support a family of their own, or even have a roof over their head for themselves. Women should not have to work hard labor jobs. Women should be able to chose their job depending on their skills. They should not have to dread getting up to work in a factory or mill. Not only that, but they run the risk of getting injured every day, as well. If a woman cannot work because she was injured at work, the family will not be able to support itself. Children, especially, should not be working in factories and mills. They are just children, and some of them not educated enough to do a job like this. This gives them more of a chance of being injured on the job. That can lead to multiple injuries if someone tries to help, then that becomes a big problem. Kids should be able to be kids until they are the proper age to start schooling or the workforce. Kids should have an education before entering the workforce. They should not have to worry about waking up early every day to go to work and run the chance of getting severely injured. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a member of the Araceae family that is known to grow an inflorescence while also being enclosed by a leafy shield known as a spathe. The Titan arum, or Amorphophallus titanum was first discovered by Italian botanist Odoardo Beccari in 1878. Titan arumare known to grow as large as 3.06 meters tall in controlled botanical gardens (Barthlott et al.). Just a single blossomed flower of the Titan arum can stretch out to be three feet across and 36 pounds. The flowers also retain a darkish red, almost flesh colored hue (Milius). It took a staggering 11 years for the first instance of blooming to occur in this plant in 1889 at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The snail like pace of this flowers maturity is demonstrated by the fact that only 21 flowerings were recorded across the world until 1989. In all aspects of size, this flower trumps others. the Titan arum s flowering structure can grow up to measurements of 10 centimeters a day up to a height of 2.9 meters or roughly 9 and a half feet tall. Leaf height can reach a towering height of 6 meters, leaf width can reach 4.5 meters, and the tuber, the energy storing structure of the plant, can grow to be 150 pounds. • 34. The Descent Of Alette Analysis In The Descent of Alette, the word flower is used very often, but beyond its literal meaning as the reproductive portion of a plant. However, this definition does tie into Notley s use of the word very well, because her uses of the word flower are centered around a description of women. The use of the word flowerto describe women does not occur in the obvious sense of meaning beautiful, peaceful, or lovely, but in describing aspects of women that lie beneath the surface and comprise their femininity. This may come across as a sweet notion, but The Descent of Alette is a story that cannot be described as sweet in any sense of the word, mainly because of its setting in a dystopian society run by a tyrant. It is not stated, but it can be inferred,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This point holds true for The Descent of Alette as it acts as a cautionary tale of the dangers for women in patriarchal societies by featuring a very apparent phenomenon. The story being based within a dystopia adds emphasis on how disastrous a world run without the aid of a woman would be. Notley s inclusion of situations that accentuate the gender hierarchy and the social constructs that force women to fulfill society s expectations work to establish the value of femininity. In using the flowers to represent femininity, Notley is able to delicately present the stakes of living without this attribute, making us have to read between the quotation marks and the lines to realize how horrid a life would be like without this sense of womanhood. Epic poetry also depends on the existence of a hero who must overcome adversity and, by doing so, exalt the values cherished by a people or nation (Mercadal). This statement does a good job of describing Alette s role within the story. All throughout she witnessed the burning of flowers and the disadvantages women faced all while having to overcome obstacles herself, but in the end, she was able to kill the tyrant and allow everything to C[o]me to light that morning so the flowers could grow anew and no longer experience this ... This process known as beach nourishment. Proponents often point to this method as effective way is a way to fight against beach erosion The causes of this erosion are both manmade and natural, but regardless of the cause this process is only a stop gap that does not actually address this issue. Instead, both the federal and state governments have spent billions of dollars over the last few decades to fight the process of erosion with unintended consequences for both the environment and citizens. In New Jersey alone state, local and federal agencies have spent 1.2 billion dollars over the last thirty years to dump 120 million cubic yards of sand over the state s coastline. This high price tag is in part due to the fact that the sand that is placed on the coastline quickly erodes and a new project must be undertaken. In the Painted Bird Kosinski mainly focuses on the three human conditions hate, prejudice (judgment), and love. He is clear in showing that humans sin a great deal, and feel hate, prejudice, and love. The beginning of the book gives us an idea of how the boy will be treated throughout the story because of his race and how he is judged by others. As the boy continued his childhood he learns of more and more horrific ways that people of his kind are treated by the Germans. After Marta s house burnt down the boy flees to a nearby village to find help, and safety. Along the way he runs into other villagers who recognize the boy as a gypsy. As the boy sat crying he was surrounded by the men and women who beat him while others watched. This is a very sad time for the boy and a hard time because this is the first instance in which he is truly beaten in the book, because of his race. We later learn the similarity between the painted birdand the boy. The boy could be considered the painted bird because he is an outcast like the bird and treated indifferently as the bird. As the boy travels throughout the story he is constantly humiliated and beaten by many strangers and his caretakers humiliate him verbally. This teaches the boy to an extent how others will treat him and what to expect from other villagers he might come across in his life. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The high evenness is due to fewer species being present at this site. The results of this lab supported my hypothesis that the water s edge would have the highest biodiversity, the wooded area would have medium biodiversity, and the manicured lawn would have the lowest biodiversity. The reason that the results support my hypothesis is that the water s edge had a diverse vegetation around it for a variety of species to be found. It also had the pond where species could be found. The wooded area contained many layers of leave coverage which is good for some species but bad for others. The wooded area is also subject to runoff which reduced the number of small species that could be found on the ground. The manicured lawn is cut often causing a reduced amount of species that would be found on the ground and not enough trees to counteract the cutting affect. Malvolio is stepping far beyond his bounds as a servant, and he doesn t see that he is out of line. To marry up a class level was unheard of, but Malvolio doesn t even seem to think about this. He is set on winning Olivia s love from the moment he thinks about the things he can get from it. He isn t really punished for his committal of a social taboo, but he is demeaned and taken back down to a servant s level through the joke that Toby, Maria, and Feste play on him. Shakespeare doesn t say that marrying up is wrong, because the marriage of Maria and Toby is given a positive light. It happened on April 19th the year 1775 in Middlesex Country, province of Massachusetts Bay during the American Revolution. The British were marching to Concord because of the arms depot of the Americans. The Americans were out numbered, out gunned, and not as well trained at the British soldiers. When the British arrived one of the officers rode forward waving his sword and called out to the militia to disperse and go home, as well as telling them Lay down your arms, you damned rebels! • 50. Volcano, Volcanic Volcano And Volcanic Ash A volcano is a rupture in the crust of a planetary mass object that allows lava, volcanic ash, and gases to escape from a magma chamber below the surface. The Earth s crust is made up of huge slabs called plates, which fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. The friction caused by the plates moving from time to time results in earthquakes and volcanic eruptions near the edges of the plates. There are many different types of volcanoes. (Volcanoes: Principal Types of Volcanoes) The most common are Cinder volcanoes. This type of volcano occurs when particles and blobs of solid lava are emitted from a single vent in the center. As the gas charged lava is blown violently into the air it breaks into small fragments that solidify and fall as cinders around the vent to form an oval cone. A good example of a cinder cone is the Paricutin Volcano in Mexico that grew out of a corn field in 1943. The eruptions continued for 9 years and built the cone to a height of 424 meters. Another type of volcano is the Composite volcanoes also known as Stratovolcano. These are steep sided volcanoes composed of many layers of volcanic rocks, usually made from high viscosity lava, ash and rock debris. Famous examples of composite cones are Mayon Volcano in Philippines, Mount Fuji in Japan, and Mount Rainier in U.S.A. Similarities Between Hammurabi And Moses Hammurabi and Moses When reflecting on significant members of ancient times, Hammurabi and Moses symbolize substantial advancement in the creation of laws. Hammurabi of Babylon introduced his code centuries apart from Moses and his laws for the Hebrews; however, there are similarities shared between the two. Several reasons can be distinguished as to what accounts for the comparison within each set of laws. Along with having an abundance of similarities, the differences shared between the two are also evident. To understand the similarities and differences analyzed in this essay, each set of laws will be compared regarding the treatment of parents, marriage, dishonesty in court, class systems, importance of agriculture, and the customs of each civilization. The time period, culture, and geographic location are responsible for the similarities and differences of Hammurabi s Code and The Law of Moses. To begin, Hammurabi s Code and The Mosaic Laws included that parents should be obeyed and respected. This is one characteristic that is shared between the rules. Because of the time in which Hammurabi and Moses lived in, it was not common to imagine a child disobeying his parents. People most likely thought that a child would always obey his parents, and that this shared law was accepted knowledge. Hammurabi states that If a son has struck his father, his hands shall be cut off, (Hammurabi, 195). Mosaic Law also mentions, If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son ... • 52. Essay about Global Positioning System Global Positioning System Global Positioning System (GPS) technology has been on the market for a number of years now. Originally developed by the military for logistical tracking and navigation, it has seen a number of applications for personal and commercial uses in recent years, with more coming down the development pipeline. GPS uses a constellation of low earth orbit satellites to determine the exact longitude, latitude and altitude of the user or vehicle with the tracking monitor. This location is determined by using trilateration between at least three, and preferably four satellites overhead. However this new emerging technology is not without it s issues, privacy being the biggest one of them. Ethicists and the public at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However talking to someone on the phone, you somehow find out that you are 40 miles from San Francisco. This, however useful, still doesn t tell you exactly where you are. Knowing that you are 40 miles from San Francisco puts you anywhere on a circle around the city at a radius of 40 miles. You find out from another source that you are 25 miles from Berkeley. This gives you another circle which intersects the first, and gives you two possible locations where you could be, which are 40 miles from San Francisco and 25 miles from Berkeley. Then if a third person tells you that you are 18 miles from San Jose, you have a third circle which intersects the first two at just one point. This gives you the exact location where you are at that moment. You now know that you are in Fremont at that moment, using the data from the three sources. Trilateration in 3 dimensional space is very similar in concept, except you are dealing with spheres instead of circles. If you know your distance from 3 satellites, it would give you two points where all three spheres intersect. The earth itself creates the fourth sphere and thus determines the location of the receiver. Receivers generally look for four or more satellites to improve accuracy and provide precise altitude information. Figuring out distance from the satellite requires that the receiver calculate how long the signal took to travel from the satellite to the receiver. Knowing the speed of ... • 53. Literary Devices In Shadow House Coming back to the idea of the messages, Shadow House is called a couple names that all have the initials D.L. They were all close to the name Delphina Larkspur. Nobody knows why. Also, they all got their message from their most desired thing or person. For example, Poppy always wanted a family, and she got her letter from her aunt . Marcus always wanted to continue his dream of being a music prodigy, and he got his letter from a music school. Azumi just wants to get away from where she lives (the forest her sister died in), and she looked up schools she could go to so she could get away and forget her sister s death. The only school that came up was The Larkspur School. Dash and Dylan want to act in a different movie or show because they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first, Ms. Tate (the person who looks over the kids at the orphanage) looks up the name of the person who wrote Poppy the message, Delphinia Larkspur, and she says I can t find a thing about a Delphinia Larkspur (Shadow House, Poblocki, Page 9). Once they get there, they discover that it is haunted. There are children in these masks that are trying to kill all of the new kids. They also find out many things like the haunted house can move it s rooms and hallways and furniture and the kids in the masks all have something in common with the new kids. This thing that they have in common is like a curse that is making the kids in the masks trapped in shadow house. This is why the kids in the masks are trying to kill the new kids, so they don t have to live with the curse anymore and so the new kids take their places. Also, they realize that Dylan was killed by Dash accidentally in the past, so Dylan was just his imagination. The last three things they realized was that the girl in the mirror was trying to help Poppy when Poppy thought that the girl in the mirror was evil. And that if they take off the masks of the kids in the masks and make them look at another masked kid, it breaks the curse for that kid. Also, when Marcus plays his music, it hurts the masked kids for some reason. I believe that all of these things are very important because it shows many different ideas/themes that the story has that makes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Decision For Setting Non Financial Targets Essay Introduction In the rapidly changing business environment, there is enormous pressure to conduct activities in a better, controlled and efficient manner. The accelerating change creates uncertainties and complexities thus creating challenges for management in their strategic plans. Management cannot continue to rely on Management Accounting Control Systems whose primary emphasis is on financial targets since such traditional analytical approaches can fail to adapt to the quick and unexpected economic landscape. This paper provides that managers must not rely on quantitative performance targets hence supports the argument for setting non financial targets in organizational objectives Discussion The measurement of performance is a great challenge in the contemporary business world since the non financial targets are hard to ascertain. It implies that an organization could end up with inefficient and ineffective MACS that lead to poor utilization of resources and ultimately increase the probability of organizational failure. The increasing strategic uncertainty creates a problem to quantify the non financial factors that could be incorporated in internal controls (Hirst, 1983). Unavailability of qualitative targets also creates cases of dysfunctional behaviors by subordinates in achieving organizational objectives. For a holistic perspective on performance, control strategies must incorporate non financial indicators since the gains are more than the associated costs (Otley, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rhetoric is a technique used to try and persuade or please an audience.
