Marriage Proposals In Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austen
In Jane Austen s novel Pride and Prejudice , her character Elizabeth Bennet refuses marriage proposals
because she secretly believes that materialism and ignorance are the cause of lost love and
unhappiness.
In Pride and Prejudice , Elizabeth uses the example of marriages, like her parents or the Collins , to
prove that marrying simply to have a man for security isn t the right reason. In chapter 42 of the novel
Austen writes Respect, esteem, and confidence had vanished for ever; and all his views of domestic
happiness were overthrown. in order to express that her character notices her parents regret in
marrying each other because her mother married for money and her father married for beauty. She

Darcy s first proposal because she felt that marrying a man simply because he said he loved her yet he
has insulted her many times upon first meeting each other and was rude to her sister may end up
equalling that her future will feel miserable and detained. In chapter 34 Austen writes, From the very
beginning from the first moment, I may almost say of my acquaintance with you, your manners,
impressing me with the fullest belief of your arrogance, your conceit, and your selfish disdain of the
feelings of others, were such as to form the groundwork of disapprobation on which succeeding events
have built so immovable a dislike; and I had not known you a month before I felt that you were the
last man in the world whom I could ever be prevailed on to marry. in order to demonstrate how his
rudeness towards her and others prevents her from accepting his feelings and even considering her
own. She believes that a man as rude as him could never create happiness and truly love a person like
she wants in her own marriage. Gao also wrote, However, Elizabeth still rejects his proposal at the
first time because she didn t fall in love with him. And she even dislikes him because of his pride.
Elizabeth does not want to marry a man whom she dislikes. to establish that Elizabeth s feelings were
yet to be found and to also explain that Elizabeth would like to have all feelings reciprocated rather

The Human Body, A Biological Organization Of Physiological...
Introduction The human body, a biological organization of physiological cascades, is surprisingly
fragile but yet highly adaptable to withstand the varying challenges encountered in the lifetime of an
individual. From chronic illnesses to acute and rapidly changing events, the integrated cooperation
between human organ systems can dramatically influence the potential outcomes of a patient. It is
multiple deployments of singular compensatory mechanisms in response to abnormal changes that
provides this infinite flexibility. While this continuous flexibility is illustrated in lifestyle diseases such
as hypertension and diabetes, its role in acute attention demanding events are remarkable. An example
of such an attention demanding occurrence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hemothoraxes, however, have also been documented to occur in cases of improper needle chest
decompression or catheter insertion, complication following thoracic surgery and various blood
disorders.
Cases of hemothoraxes have occurred in a range of ages from neonatal to geriatric, however, clinical
indications are often universal and only require simple imagery equipment in order to precisely
identify. While hemothoraxes are uncommon events in comparison to pneumothoraxes and the
presentation of some clinical signs and symptoms are similar. Clinical signs of tracheal deviation

practitioner toward a pleural effusion but does not differentiate between hemothorax and
pneumothorax. The use of computed tomography and sonography, however, are the simplest and most
accurate methods to rapidly access the condition as the pooling of blood within the pulmonary cavity
is a distant contrast from normal.
The physiological stresses of hemothorax compared to pneunothorax on the human body differs
greatly for the cardiovascular system while is near identical for the respiratory system.

Set in 1939, many Polish Jews were being relocated to the town of Krakow, Poland, following the
Polish armies defeat to the German forces. Successful business owner and Nazi supporter Oskar
Schindler (Played by Liam Neeson) arrives to use the labor of the Jews to produce supplies in his
factory for the Nazi Army. However, Schindler doesn t quite know how to run such a thriving
company, so he hires a high ranking official in the Jewish Council, Itzhak Stern ( Ben Kingsley) to
handle administration. In order to get workers, Schindler and Stern compose a list of many Jews from
nearby Ghettos to come work at the factory. This inadvertently saves them from being sent to a

Shinto And Religion
Shinto practices include shrine visits; blessings done by priests at the shrines and in the community;
participation in festivals and seasonal holidays, especially New Years; water purifications; and
offerings and prayer at home shrines. Perhaps because of a lack of organizational structure, Shinto has
generated an amazing variety of sects that often borrow from Confucianism, Buddhism, and even

4 Functions of Management
The management process contains four basic functions; planning, organizing, leading and controlling.
By using these key tools, one can create an organization as a whole consisting of unified parts acting
in harmony to achieve goals, both successfully and proficiently. It is vital for an organization manager
to implement these functions to ensure the success of the company. The functions of management are
described, according to (Bateman, Snell, 2004) as follows: Planning is specifying the goals to be
achieved and deciding in advance the appropriate actions needed to achieve those goals. Planning
activities include analyzing current situations, anticipating the future, determining objectives, deciding
in what types of activities the company ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One guy has the job of inventory. He has to take inventory of all equipment. He has to gather all users
names and assign them with a workstation. And the last guy has to work with the other IT
departments, with the information at hand from the inventory, and associate each workstation with a
printer package and workstation object. Our manager has to also organize the rollout. How are we
going to get to the new location and what is the time frame which this needs to be completed. Leading
is going to also be an important factor with this project. Our manager needs to motivate us to actually
wanting to work very late on Friday and all day Saturday. Our manager needs to be able to
communicate with us and let us know what we have to do at that very moment. The leader needs to
keep us on the right track and focus on the goal at hand. This entails him to be present during the
rollout. I believe we will be motivated if he is present during the rollout, giving a helpful hand where
ever he can. Even if it isn t much, anything is better than nothing at all. The final function is
controlling. Management will have to monitor our progress during the rollout and decide what actions
need to be taken to improve. In past projects similar to this one, we ran into a few problems and
management had to reconfigure its game plan to make everything work out fine in the end. In one
instance, the cubicles that were

Designing The Costume For The Tin Man
1. Imagine you are designing the costume for the Tin Man. What advantages and disadvantages does
the costume in the film have? (Consider aspects such as mobility, realism, artistic intent, and so on.)
Would you make any changes to the costume for a theater production? Why or why not? If i were to
design a costume for the tin man, some advantages would be price, and portability, but some of the
disadvantaged would be the way it may reflect light and also if it s comfortable for the one who wears
it.
2. In the scene where Dorothy says goodbye to Oz (time code 1:37:38), what is the mood of the scene?
How does the filmmaker achieve this mood? The mood of the scene was very depressing because of
how she accomplished so much and then she had to return back home to her family. The way that they
have the success was to make everyone look sad and silent, even the expression of tears put out more
of the mood of that whole scene. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Loan Portfolio Held By The Fund Essay
We anticipate that the Loan portfolio held by the Fund will consist predominantly of Loans of
approximately $1 million to $5 million in principal with terms of one to two years. We anticipate that
most of the Loans will be secured primarily by first priority mortgages, deeds of trust or similar
instruments on improved or unimproved real properties located in the Western part of the United
States. The Western part of the United States includes the following states: California, Oregon, Texas,
Hawaii, Washington, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Arizona and Wyoming.
Competitive Position of the Fund
To execute our business strategy, we must compete successfully against other capital providers who
may possess far greater resources than ours or have other advantages over us. These other capital
sources fall mostly within four categories: (1) traditional institutional mortgage lenders such as
depository institutions, specialty finance companies and insurance companies, (2) equity investors, (3)
seller financing, and (4) private mortgage lenders. The following summarizes how from a financing
perspective, we differ from and compete with these alternative capital sources.
How we differ from and compete with traditional mortgage lenders
We believe traditional mortgage lenders are improperly structured or staffed to undertake the hands on
and highly varied risk analysis required of these types of Loan transactions. We also believe that large
lenders that fund

Theme In Katherine Anne Porter s He
Gole Girgis
Mrs. Bucchin
Honors American Literature II
02 June 2017
Theme of He by Katherine Anne Porter
In the short story He by Katherine Anne Porter, the author describes a lower class southern family and
the difficulties that they go through. More importantly, Porter focuses on the theme of the story which
is importance of appearance through child neglect. The theme of the story is shown through Mrs.
Whipple s relationship with her mentally retarded son, and how she uses him to get what she wants.
Other people in the story, such as her husband, Mr. Whipple and their two children, Adna and Emly
help add to the story s theme. Mrs. Whipple, the mother, is the main character. In this short story He
refers to the name of the mentally ill boy in the family , and He is what the theme of the story is
mostly referring to.
Like Porter, who would later become somewhat obsessed with buying fancy clothes and jewelry to
erode the early poverty she experienced and to impress upon the world that she was a success, so too
is Mrs. Whipple, the protagonist in the story, focused on appearances (Galens 103). At the beginning
of the story Mrs. Whipple doesn t want people to know how much she and her family struggle through
their daily life. When her husband says anything about their life being difficult, she gets mad and
angry at him. Another example of why appearance is very important to the family is that, Mrs.
Whipple made her husband kill a pig to show her brother when he comes to visit that the family is
doing fine. She is more concerned about how her neighbors will see her rather than how her lifestyle is
affecting her. The reason why is because she doesn t want any of her neighbors to talk about their
family in a negative way.
Mrs. Whipple just uses her disabled son to get what she wants, because he s not her favorite child. She
prefers the other two over him. An example where child neglect is used in the story is when Mrs.
Whipple makes her son go into the pigsty to get the pig. Rather than Mr. Whipple or Mrs. Whipple
getting the pig themselves, she makes her son do it even though she knows how threatening it is.
Another examples is when her son gets his clothes dirty, Mrs. Whipple hits him, rather than being

Essay on Gastroparesis
Gastroparesis
Gastroparesis is a digestive disorder in which the motility of the stomach is either abnormal or absent.
Gastro means stomach and paresis means weakness. Gastroparesis is a weak stomach. This condition
is very common. It can be the cause of a number of abdominal complaints. It is usually not a serious
problem and there are effective treatments available.
In normal health, when the stomach is functioning normally. The stomach has two parts. The upper
portion is called the fundus which is where swallowed food and liquid collect. The lower portion is
called the antrum. This is the stomach grinder. It is where food is churned back and forth until it is

Fortunately, gastric emptying resumes and symptoms improve when food intake and eating schedules
normalize. Symptoms of gastroparesis include bloating, nausea, and early fullness while eating meals,
heartburn, and epigastric pain. The most common symptom is early satiety, or the sensation of feeling
full shortly after starting a meal. Nausea and vomiting are also common. A person with gastroparesis
may vomit undigested food many hours after their last meal. Weight loss can occur due to poor
absorption of nutrients, or taking in too few calories.
The diagnosis of gastroparesis starts with the medical history where the physician may suspect the
diagnosis based on the symptoms. A gastric or stomach emptying test is presently the best method of
making the diagnosis. In this test, a food, such as scrambled eggs, is labeled with a marker, which can
be seen by a scanner. Following ingestion, the scanner tracks the time it takes for the food to leave the
stomach. In general, half the stomach contents should leave within about 90 minutes. A final test is the
electrogastrogram (EGG). This test, like the EKG on the heart, measures the electrical waves that
normally sweep over the stomach and precede each contraction.
Diet is one of the foundations of treatment for those who suffer from gastroparesis. Some foods are
more difficult than others for the stomach to digest. Fatty foods take a longer time to digest, so do
foods that

Jim Swanson s Life As A Landscape Construction
Architecture is all around us. It s necessary to create buildings, roads, parks, bridges, and more. It s
what many people travel thousands of miles just to look at, from the ancient Egyptian pyramids to
modern, luxurious skyscrapers. Not only is architecture beautiful, but it is what allows us to
manipulate the space on which we survive in almost any way we want. Landscape architecture is very
similar. It is what helps us evaluate the shape and function of the soil we walk over. It is what gives us
the freedom to change the use and look of the land. While architectural feats can be very impressive
on their own, when combined with the work of a landscape architect, the appeal of a structure can

Swanson had explained that the first step to a project is to have an initial meeting with the client. He
had explained, It is important that you have a good idea of what the client s needs, wants and desires
are before you embark on creating a landscape for them. Usually, landscape architects will ask their
clients if they have collected any ideas from magazines such as Sunset Magazine, Architectural
Record, or online using Houz. They may have also garnered ideas from a landscape in their own
neighborhood. Mr. Swanson said it is key for the architect to take really good notes during this
meeting, because later on it is important to highlight their ideas...[while] making future preparations,
[which] helps them be involved in the process and gives them ownership. He reminded me that some
ideas may seem quirky and not what you would do in your landscape, however I must remember it is
their landscape, not mine. Mr. Swanson also reminded me that the initial interview is the best time to
establish a budget, and often clients do not have an idea of what their budget is or how much the
project will cost. In this case, landscape architects let their clients know that they will provide a
Preliminary Cost Estimate with the Preliminary Landscape Plan the next time they

Complications Of Compensation
In a cross country analysis by Tessema, Ready Embaye, (2013), they presented statistics on the effects
of employee recognition, pay, and benefits on job satisfaction to employees in USA, Malaysi, and
Vietnam. While there are significant differences statistically between the four variables of the study,
all groups concurred that pay, benefits, and recognition are vital in improving job satisfaction of
employees. The results solidify the hypothesis that pay is integral to job satisfaction in all of the three
countries despite varying cultures. It is important to take note that this study also revealed that non

The Gang Member Of The Eight Tray Criminal Hoover Essay
Frank Gottie is one of the most well known gang member of The Eight Tray Criminal Hoover in
Memphis. Gottie believes that gangs are becoming to spin out of control, that it needs to be a solution
to gang activity. On July 10, 2016 Gottie says I ain t never seen heaven before, but it was like a
Memphis heaven everybody was on one accord , if the gangs could be on the same page for Black
Lives Matter (Jones and Fretland, 2016) . Why can t it happen for the youth? Ar tavius Brown was 18
years old and joined a gang called the Pirus the Blood Alliance. Brown joined gang activity in South
Memphis because he saw people with the cars, with the money (Goggans, 2014). Brown was put with
the ramifications of having a gun shoot out at Central High school, but the judge saw something within
Brown and gave him a second chance.
Why are these stories relevant? These stories are relevant to the gang problem because if a gang
member, Frank Gottie, sees that the gang problem in Memphis has to stop then it should be addressed.
The community should want a change so the generation in Memphis doesn t fall into the typical
stereotypes, they should want more for the future youth to come. Everyone(the youth) won t have that
second chance like the Memphian Ar tavius Brown, all the youth won t have that judge that will see
the better side of the situation. The community needs to get more involved with the youth, their kids,
and family; so the gang problem won t become worse than it is becoming.

The Impact Of Technology On The Allied Victory During...
How did the development of new technology aid in the allied victory during World War Two? The
Second World War (WWII) was a devastating global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945, causing
struggle and suffering across much of the world s nations. During this period, technological
developments increased significantly and advancements in every field of war were emerging quickly
and leaving huge impressions. New inventions and scientific principles emerged during WWII in
fields such as weaponry, communications and effective defensive means that helped lead the allies to
total victory. Allied weapons technology developed at a rapid rate during WWII and was crucial in
overpowering the German and associated forces. Developments in tanks, bombs and other weapons
across many allied states, contributed to their victory. New communication technology meant that
forces could crypt and encrypt secret messages and detect enemy forces from never seen before
distances, making the idea of surprise attack virtually impossible. Defensive technology, although not
necessarily considered as a large part of the war effort, played a crucial role in protecting the allied
countries from invasion or surrender and ultimately helped defeat the axis forces. Defensive systems
were implemented by the allied countries including Chain Home and the Maginot line that helped win
back control. Development of weapons technology is what primarily changed the tides of WWII,
essentially winning the war for the

The United States Justice System
Officers in a Texas McDonald s parking lot saw a black man and a white man in the process of
exchanging seats on a road trip from Florida to California, while leaving the parking lot; the officer
implied that the man driving did not use his right turn signal. The men alleged that their privacy was
invaded when the vehicle was searched without a warrant or permission from the driver. When one of
the men attempted to video tape the incident on a cell phone he was told to stop. The term driving
while black has been used to describe the practice of law enforcement officers to stop African
American drivers without probable cause (Weatherspoon, 2004). The United States Justice System is
based upon a flawed designed through miseducation of students in the school system, maintaining of a
slave mentally in the prison system, and the perceptions of African Americans in America.
Currently, the Public School System is readying African American for a life in prison. Today, many
schools have been issued metal detectors and excessive cameras for monitoring students. I believe that
African American Students are not being prepared for college by high school faculty and staff. Dr.
Carter G. Woodson published a book called The Miseducation of the Negro in his book he explains
how miseducation leaves many African American students unprepared for a life of competition with

Anne Carson Essay

Anne Carson s Lessons
Anne Carson is a very intelligent and well rounded writer. When I first read Anne Carson s Short Talks
, I was seriously confused. At first, I thought she was an abstract writer that wrote just to write. But
then I took a second look at her work and realized there was much more to it than just crazy jumbled
ideas. Short Talks is a mixture of many elements. It has argumentation, facts, personal opinions, and
an unconventional way of writing.
As I was rereading the Short Talks , I noticed names, facts, and a lesson to go along with each Short
Talk. This persuaded me to do some research so the stories would start to make more sense. After ...

Elektra took this very hard, so she and her brother Orestes plotted revenge against her mother and step
father. Elektra s father had been against things like this, but Elektra became so bitter she began to
commit many crimes. So this short talk helps us decide between what is major and minor in our life.
This helps to keep from overreacting over the small things in life.
Another lesson comes from the short talk On Reading. This takes the reader back to their childhood.
No, not everyone enjoys reading, but it is also great for you. In this short talk I got the imagery that
this little girl was on a road trip with her parents, her father does not enjoy reading but she does. So
while on the way to their destination, she reads Madame Bovary. While reading she takes a moment to
look around at the sights passing through the window. This just gets the reader to truly think and
assess the way they perceive the way they view reading. Having someone who enjoys reading, and
someone who finds no pleasure in reading is what makes the world go round. Not everyone
appreciates, or finds interest in the same things, but do not discourage anyone if you have no interest
in it.
If I were to write some short talks I could use an Anne Carson like writing style, or writing that flows
eloquently. I would try to help the reader to understand what is being said, but to also think about what
is before them. I would include an introduction in my short talks

Social Issues In Pride And Prejudice
Jane Austen s well known novel, Pride and Prejudice, discussed multiple social themes in the 19th
century. Austen mainly criticized marriage during her era, when she says that, it is a truth universally
acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife (Austen 3).
As she explains that it was valuable to women since it provided them with security and a social title.
The author explored the diverse motives behind matrimony in her time period by using a humorous
and romantic plot to discuss the social issues. For instance, Charlotte Lucas s unreasonable marriage
to Mr. Collins is a vital example of how women needed to secure a future and attain social status. To
conclude, Lydia Bennet s meaningless marriage to George Wickham shows that entering the marriage
estate could have also been for mainly financial purposes. Contrastingly, Jane Bennet, the heroine s
older sister, marries Charles Bingley for love, security, and a social ranking. On the other hand,
Elizabeth Bennet marries Fitzwilliam Darcy after months of misunderstandings and romantic drama
for none other than true love. Thus, Austen uses her leading characters marriages in Pride and
Prejudice to exhibit the various attitudes and reasons for marrying in the 19th century. (Lane 2015) As
Charlotte Lucas nears her thirties, she begins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Part 1 Gasoline Research Paper
Part One: Gasoline
1.
Gasoline is used in a wide array of appliances, for example, your car, tractors, and lawn mowers of the
like. This is a good thing because one substance that is composed of a liquid and a mix of alkanes and
cycloalkanes (5 12 carbon atoms) is that versatile. Some other advantages of gasoline are that it is
very common, making it easily accessible and more convenient for shorter periods of time. It starts up
immediately, improves the mobility of smaller generating sets, relatively lighter and quieter in
comparison to diesel generating sets and engines, they also have a longer lifespan. However, nothing
is perfect and gasoline does have its flaws.

There are many way fuel can cause environmental harm this can come in many forms, but one is that
the use of gasoline is affecting air quality by producing emissions. This is because the process of
refining the crude oil releases toxins into the atmosphere and thus causing air pollution. Burning
gasoline, starting your car and driving it creates a small controlled fire, causes the combustion reaction
to occur, producing water vapor and the infamous Carbon Dioxide which is awful for the environment
and people breathing it in. This is due to gasoline (which is cleaner than coal) it still contributes to the
production of greenhouse gases. Another thing about gasoline that causes harm to the environment is
oil spills that occur mostly when oil is lost during transportation.
There are four main things that stem off of fuel emissions, these are carbon monoxide, nitrogen
oxides, particulate matter and unburned hydrocarbons. These are formed by the fuel being burned and
released through the combustion reaction. The main components of gasoline that combust in gasoline
are isooctane, butane, 3 ethyltoluene and an octane enhancer called MTBE (methyl tert butyl ether).

Symbolism In Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour
There are many phrases in the English language that, when analyzed, don t make sense at all. For
example, the kiss of death is one of these phrases. Typically we think of a kiss as something nice, a
way of affection from a partner, a parent, grandparent, or even friend. So pairing this joyful word with
something that so many people dread is admittedly an odd choice. Used as a marking of fate, a kiss of
death is a concept that seems very taboo, but really this comparison of light and dark has been used
more often than we may think. In Kate Chopin s short story, The Story of an Hour , she utilizes
imagery by using language that is often self contradictory. With her combination of dark and cheerful
imagery, Chopin creates a very uneasy mood throughout the story that helps to reflect Mrs. Mallard s
emotional conflict with her physical surroundings.
After Mr. Mallards announced death, Chopin used the sky as a type of symbolic imagery. In a state of
suspension, Mrs. Mallard stood at the open window, looking out at the scenery in front of her house.
As she looked out the window, she saw that There were patches of blue sky showing here and there
through the clouds that had met and piled one above the other, (Chopin 1). In this example, Chopin
uses her imagery to reflect the stress that is being lifted from Mrs. Mallard. Over the course of her
marriage, Louise Mallard had been suppressing these feelings of entrapment, causing them to build on
themselves like the heavy weight

Argumentative Essay On Art Therapy
There are many different forms of therapy that range from all across the board, but there is one in
particular that I have in mind for this discussion; Art Therapy. Art therapy is the application of the
visual arts and the creative process within a therapeutic relationship, to support, maintain, and improve
the psychosocial, physical, cognitive and spiritual health of individuals of all ages. Different studies
have gone to prove that when implementing art therapy into the lives of cancer patients, incarcerated

Guardian Angel Movie Analysis
Gabriel Gabby Messinger, a Guardian Angel who has trouble following the rules and is known for

First of all, I want to say that this film surpassed all my expectations. Sometimes, I am hesitant when
it comes to angel films, but because of who the three stars are (and especially because of the male
lead), I was determined to give this film a chance. Furthermore, it is airing on Hallmark, and how
could I not watch it? If you are looking for a film that follows the Scriptural teachings of angels, this
might not be for you. I could speak to all the reasons why the theology of the movie is unsound, but
that is not why I watched this film. The film is so uncommonly well written and acted with such depth
that I could care less about whether the story could ever happen or not. The values of the film are
intact, and if nothing else, I applaud Hallmark for emphasizing the concept of free will (something
most Christians and church people esteem) and including the Lord s Prayer (how often do we see that
on network TV?). I did not plan on becoming emotional during this movie, but I literally spent the last
twenty minutes or so crying off and on because the story was remarkably poignant (and I wasn t

Claudio Monteverdi Research Paper
Claudio Monteverdi, (baptized May 15, 1567, Cremona, Duchy of Milan [Italy] died Nov. 29, 1643,
Venice), Italian composer in the late Renaissance, the most important developer of the then new genre,
the opera. He also did much to bring a modern secular spirit into church music.
Early career
Monteverdi, the son of a barber surgeon and chemist, studied with the director of music at Cremona
cathedral, Marcantonio Ingegneri, a well known musician who wrote church music and madrigals of
some distinction in an up to date though not revolutionary style of the 1570s. Monteverdi was
obviously a precocious pupil, since he published several books of religious and secular music in his
teens, all of them containing competent pieces in a manner not far from that of his master. The ...

Although he went on composing, he published little for the next 11 years. In 1595 he accompanied his

singer, Claudia Cattaneo, by whom he had three children, one of whom died in infancy. When the post
of maestro di cappella, or director of music, to the duke became vacant on the death of Wert in 1596,
Monteverdi was embittered at being passed over, but in 1602 he achieved the position, at the age of
35. He published two more books of madrigals in 1603 and 1605, both of which contain masterpieces.
The avant garde manner was now better assimilated into his idiom. While his aim was still to follow
the meaning of the verse in great detail, he solved the purely musical problems of thematic
development and proportion. Although the dissonances became more severe and the melody
sometimes still more angular, the total effect was more varied in emotion and less neurotic. If Guarini
s eroticism stimulated a sensual musical style, Monteverdi often gave his mature madrigals a lightness
and humour, seeing the essence of a poem rather than its

Egalitarianism Is The Belief Of Equality For All,...
Egalitarianism is the belief in equality for all, irrespective of class, gender or race. Hunter gatherer
societies are often described by anthropologists as egalitarian; however perhaps some, more so than
others. The social organizations of peoples like the Pygmies of the Central African forests and the San
(Bushmen) for example, are labelled strikingly egalitarian in contrast to Northwest Coast Indians who
display social stratification . There is also evidence suggesting that descent groups exercise corporate
control over delimited tracts of resources such as fishing stations, hunting grounds and berrying areas

G. Bicchieri, Ernest S. Burch, Jr., Carol R. Ember, Kirk M. Endicott, Roy Richard Grinker, Steve
Gudeman, Mitsuo Ichikawa, Tim Ingold and George W. Wenzel 1992: 27). Hence Sahlins findings can
be attributed to the cosmic economy of sharing present in many hunter gatherer societies, as they
adopt an immediate return system that demonstrates their commitment to maintaining an egalitarian
way of living. In immediate return societies every individual has a share of the social product,
regardless of how much he or she has contributed to it (Lee and Daly 1999). This indicates the
importance of a fair distribution of resources such as food that may become scarce at certain times
during the year amongst hunter gatherers. Among the Ju/ hoansi, the distribution of meat in particular
is noted as a symbolic social event, whereby the arrangement of the pieces of meat can take up to an
hour in order to ensure that each recipient is given the right proportion (Lee 1993:50). This ritual of
sharing is also evident amongst the Hadza and !Kung tribes, with Woodburn suggesting that hoarding
food when another person is hungry would be socially unacceptable (Woodburn 1982). Thus, perhaps
food sharing in such a distinct social context can be interpreted as a sort of insurance policy that
reduces the risk of starvation and hunger within the community as a whole, showing that the hunter
gather ethos values society over the individual. Despite many hunter

Essay On Miranda Rights Warning
In many cases of arrest in the United States, there is the reading of one very important warning. This
warning is known as the Miranda Rights. The other official title that this warning was given though is
the Miranda Warning. The Miranda Rights though, tell every citizen who is at least the suspect of a
crime, that they are not required to speak to any person of authority who is questioning them for any
reason. That is, unless they feel the need to do so. These rights notify suspects and citizens also, that
they have the right to an attorney, and that if they cannot afford one, that there still will be one that is
provided for them.
Our country s citizens all deserve to have their Miranda Rights read to them when being taken into
custody by police. Honestly, our citizens not only deserve it, they need it. Having these rights read to
them can save them from lots of legal issues later on in life. So, whether the police really think a

today. This causes our country s percentage of citizens who know their rights to go down quite a bit.
This is because of the simple fact that when people from another country enter ours, these immigrants
do not always know everything about the country they re going into. Countries other than ours always
have different laws and ideas of what is right and what is wrong, so what is against the law in America
may be perfectly safe or legal in their country.
The right to hire a lawyer or an attorney is very important also. Having this right can help citizens who
do not work well with authorities, have someone there with them while being questioned about these
matters. This lawyer being present at the time of interrogation, can remind their client of their rights,
and help them to understand the laws they haven t heard of or just simply don t understand. This is

Social Class in the United States Essay
There is much debate about the issue of social class in the United States. There are arguments about
whether social classes are distinctly separate or fluid, dependent upon one s community or society as a
whole, and if they are subjective or objective (Hughes and Jenkins). However, despite the debate
surrounding social classes, it is still important to try to define them and analyze their effects, as they
are such an important part of our identity and our opportunities in society. Although our society has
tried to appear as though we have no classes, and it is becoming harder to tell what class someone is in
by material goods, classes do still exist today (Scott and Leonhardt). The trend has been to divide the

Despite the debates about social class, the United States is usually described as having four major
social classes, the elite or upperclass, the middle class, the working class, and the lower class
(Goldscmidt). Classes are generally differentiated by income, education, and occupation although
other factors do have an effect. The upperclass consists of about 1% of the population making 750,000
dollars or more a year as investors, top executives, or heirs to large fortunes (Hughes and Jenkins).
There tends to be no question about who is in the upperclass as they are pretty clearly isolated in their
power and wealth. The middle class makes up about 40% of the population making anywhere from
40,000 to 749,999 dollars a year (Hughes and Jenkins). The large disparity in income and wealth have
led to a further division of this class into upper middle class and middle class in some circles. The
middle class usually work white collar jobs as professionals and managers, however some highly
skilled blue collar workers are included. Those in the middle class have usually obtained higher
education degrees and place a high value on individual responsibility for one s class (Goldschmidt).
The working class is composed of about 50% of the population earning 13,000 to 39,000 dollars a
year (Hughes and Jenkins). Some also divide this class into a working class and a

Common cause variation results from problems built into a system or process. This means the problem
will exist regardless of outside variables (i.e. workers, machinery, etc.) Special cause variation is the
result of a variable external to the system. These problems stem from a specific or unique condition
(i.e. workers, machinery, etc.). It is important to understand the difference between the two because
they require distinctly different methods of correction. Addressing the problem correctly can improve
quality and reliability of output. However, misinterpreting a common cause variation as a special
cause variation is a common and costly mistake. Managers begin to analyze and adjust the system
assuming that the variation stems from a condition unique to their project when in reality it is an
overarching organizational flaw. As a result, variation in quality and reliability may actual increase
when managers attempt to compensate for what they mistakenly believe to be special cause variation.

and ocean. After we were settled, we went downstairs to the beach. I took my first step into the crystal
clear water and immediately jumped in. The water was so warm, that I did not have to take time to get
used to it. Checked that off my list. The next day, my family and I went to a boat ride to go snuba
diving. Unfortunately, you had to be 18 years or older to go scuba diving. Snuba diving was a different
form of scuba diving. You had a long rod that connected to an oxygen tank. You would then put the air
piece in your mouth and start to breathe. At first, I was afraid to go underwater because I was afraid of
sharks. However, when I went in, I was not afraid when I saw all the cool different types of fish.

Cuckoo Simulation Paper
In M. Amoretti et al framework [41], the main pillar is the autonomic strategy consisting of adaptive
loops between each cell phones and the Cloud. The proposed model of the mobile device takes into
account online estimations of the actual Cloud performance, but also the characteristics of the
workload, to adjust its configuration in terms of active virtual machines and task management
strategies. A simulator of the MCC model has been implemented. The simulator is based on the DEUS
, the open source Java based discrete event simulation platform. To validate the proposed model,
comparison of experimental results obtained with the OpenStack based private Cloud with simulation
results, using simulated client devices. Moreover they deployed a RESTful web service, which accepts
images as inputs and sends them to the virtual machines, where are processed by an OpenCV based
face recognition application. Many image processing tasks are assigned to VMs by a Java based
Dispatcher according to a FCFS queueing policy, assessment took place in task execution time and
cloud slowdown, deadline hits for tasks, job execution time in assisting of MCC systems as a whole,

They see someone who is not tuned with them, someone who is not like them, someone who is from a
different world, someone like a ghost. For them the speaker stands out for apparently all wrong
reasons and she is an outsider to them, in their midst she is an alien. So the speaker sits scratching
throughout her lonely nights. It can be interpreted as she is scratching a desperate plea a message on a
piece of paper. But if we infer the deeper meaning it can also mean that she is scratching because she
is feeling uneasy, she is scratching over the scab of division and the label that she is a minority. She is
scratching over the scab of people treating her minority over her skin colour. A page doesn t fight back
, according to me this is the most powerful line in the whole poem. By page here she is referring to a
minority person like herself. The speaker hopes that whatever she has spoken so far shoots through the
thick layer of stereotypes the community has set and the noise of repression of the community. So
whole carrying on with this life of hers, the speaker comes across a person who is stranger to her yet
there is something about the person that makes her feel like she knows him or her. The face of the
person is pure and simple without any mask of stereotypes. The speaker can actually read through the
persons face and his or her outcast

From the article, Economics and the civil war Schulman points out, Southern planters were concerned
that high tariffs might make their European trading partner, primarily the British, raise prices on
manufactured goods imported by the south in order to maintain a profit on trade. The south were
afraid of high tariffs since they could hurt them financially in business (Schulman). Also from the
article 1828 Tariff of Abominations Alchin says The South, who had once favored Henry Clay s Tariff
1816 and his American System which financed the construction of new roads into the west, now
opposed both. To explain, The south were originally for the Tariff and American System but now did
not like either since they help them and only hurt them (Alchin).
The view on tariffs was much different in the north though, they viewed them as good and helpful
since the tariffs did not really affect them other than help. In the article, Economics and the Civil War ,
Schulman states In the North, however, high tariffs were viewed favorably because such tariffs would
make imported goods more expensive. Tariffs that were high would promote American goods by
making European goods seem more expensive (Schulman). The article 1828 Tariff of

  • 9. The Loan Portfolio Held By The Fund Essay We anticipate that the Loan portfolio held by the Fund will consist predominantly of Loans of approximately $1 million to $5 million in principal with terms of one to two years. We anticipate that most of the Loans will be secured primarily by first priority mortgages, deeds of trust or similar instruments on improved or unimproved real properties located in the Western part of the United States. The Western part of the United States includes the following states: California, Oregon, Texas, Hawaii, Washington, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Arizona and Wyoming. Competitive Position of the Fund To execute our business strategy, we must compete successfully against other capital providers who may possess far greater resources than ours or have other advantages over us. These other capital sources fall mostly within four categories: (1) traditional institutional mortgage lenders such as depository institutions, specialty finance companies and insurance companies, (2) equity investors, (3) seller financing, and (4) private mortgage lenders. The following summarizes how from a financing perspective, we differ from and compete with these alternative capital sources. How we differ from and compete with traditional mortgage lenders We believe traditional mortgage lenders are improperly structured or staffed to undertake the hands on and highly varied risk analysis required of these types of Loan transactions. • 11. Theme In Katherine Anne Porter s He Gole Girgis Mrs. Bucchin Honors American Literature II 02 June 2017 Theme of He by Katherine Anne Porter In the short story He by Katherine Anne Porter, the author describes a lower class southern family and the difficulties that they go through. More importantly, Porter focuses on the theme of the story which is importance of appearance through child neglect. The theme of the story is shown through Mrs. Whipple s relationship with her mentally retarded son, and how she uses him to get what she wants. Other people in the story, such as her husband, Mr. Whipple and their two children, Adna and Emly help add to the story s theme. Mrs. Whipple, the mother, is the main character. In this short story He refers to the name of the mentally ill boy in the family , and He is what the theme of the story is mostly referring to. Like Porter, who would later become somewhat obsessed with buying fancy clothes and jewelry to erode the early poverty she experienced and to impress upon the world that she was a success, so too is Mrs. Whipple, the protagonist in the story, focused on appearances (Galens 103). At the beginning of the story Mrs. Whipple doesn t want people to know how much she and her family struggle through their daily life. When her husband says anything about their life being difficult, she gets mad and angry at him. Another example of why appearance is very important to the family is that, Mrs. Whipple made her husband kill a pig to show her brother when he comes to visit that the family is doing fine. She is more concerned about how her neighbors will see her rather than how her lifestyle is affecting her. The reason why is because she doesn t want any of her neighbors to talk about their family in a negative way. Mrs. Whipple just uses her disabled son to get what she wants, because he s not her favorite child. She prefers the other two over him. An example where child neglect is used in the story is when Mrs. Whipple makes her son go into the pigsty to get the pig. Rather than Mr. Whipple or Mrs. Whipple getting the pig themselves, she makes her son do it even though she knows how threatening it is. Another examples is when her son gets his clothes dirty, Mrs. Whipple hits him, rather than being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Symptoms of gastroparesis include bloating, nausea, and early fullness while eating meals, heartburn, and epigastric pain. The most common symptom is early satiety, or the sensation of feeling full shortly after starting a meal. Nausea and vomiting are also common. A person with gastroparesis may vomit undigested food many hours after their last meal. Weight loss can occur due to poor absorption of nutrients, or taking in too few calories. The diagnosis of gastroparesis starts with the medical history where the physician may suspect the diagnosis based on the symptoms. A gastric or stomach emptying test is presently the best method of making the diagnosis. In this test, a food, such as scrambled eggs, is labeled with a marker, which can be seen by a scanner. Following ingestion, the scanner tracks the time it takes for the food to leave the stomach. In general, half the stomach contents should leave within about 90 minutes. A final test is the electrogastrogram (EGG). This test, like the EKG on the heart, measures the electrical waves that normally sweep over the stomach and precede each contraction. Diet is one of the foundations of treatment for those who suffer from gastroparesis. Some foods are more difficult than others for the stomach to digest. The Second World War (WWII) was a devastating global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945, causing struggle and suffering across much of the world s nations. During this period, technological developments increased significantly and advancements in every field of war were emerging quickly and leaving huge impressions. New inventions and scientific principles emerged during WWII in fields such as weaponry, communications and effective defensive means that helped lead the allies to total victory. Allied weapons technology developed at a rapid rate during WWII and was crucial in overpowering the German and associated forces. Developments in tanks, bombs and other weapons across many allied states, contributed to their victory. New communication technology meant that forces could crypt and encrypt secret messages and detect enemy forces from never seen before distances, making the idea of surprise attack virtually impossible. Defensive technology, although not necessarily considered as a large part of the war effort, played a crucial role in protecting the allied countries from invasion or surrender and ultimately helped defeat the axis forces. • 24. Social Issues In Pride And Prejudice Jane Austen s well known novel, Pride and Prejudice, discussed multiple social themes in the 19th century. Austen mainly criticized marriage during her era, when she says that, it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife (Austen 3). As she explains that it was valuable to women since it provided them with security and a social title. The author explored the diverse motives behind matrimony in her time period by using a humorous and romantic plot to discuss the social issues. For instance, Charlotte Lucas s unreasonable marriage to Mr. Collins is a vital example of how women needed to secure a future and attain social status. To conclude, Lydia Bennet s meaningless marriage to George Wickham shows that entering the marriage estate could have also been for mainly financial purposes. Contrastingly, Jane Bennet, the heroine s older sister, marries Charles Bingley for love, security, and a social ranking. On the other hand, Elizabeth Bennet marries Fitzwilliam Darcy after months of misunderstandings and romantic drama for none other than true love. • 28. Symbolism In Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour There are many phrases in the English language that, when analyzed, don t make sense at all. For example, the kiss of death is one of these phrases. Typically we think of a kiss as something nice, a way of affection from a partner, a parent, grandparent, or even friend. So pairing this joyful word with something that so many people dread is admittedly an odd choice. Used as a marking of fate, a kiss of death is a concept that seems very taboo, but really this comparison of light and dark has been used more often than we may think. In Kate Chopin s short story, The Story of an Hour , she utilizes imagery by using language that is often self contradictory. With her combination of dark and cheerful imagery, Chopin creates a very uneasy mood throughout the story that helps to reflect Mrs. Mallard s emotional conflict with her physical surroundings. After Mr. Mallards announced death, Chopin used the sky as a type of symbolic imagery. In a state of suspension, Mrs. Mallard stood at the open window, looking out at the scenery in front of her house. As she looked out the window, she saw that There were patches of blue sky showing here and there through the clouds that had met and piled one above the other, (Chopin 1). In this example, Chopin uses her imagery to reflect the stress that is being lifted from Mrs. Mallard. Over the course of her marriage, Louise Mallard had been suppressing these feelings of entrapment, causing them to build on themselves like the heavy weight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Argumentative Essay On Art Therapy There are many different forms of therapy that range from all across the board, but there is one in particular that I have in mind for this discussion; Art Therapy. Art therapy is the application of the visual arts and the creative process within a therapeutic relationship, to support, maintain, and improve the psychosocial, physical, cognitive and spiritual health of individuals of all ages. Different studies have gone to prove that when implementing art therapy into the lives of cancer patients, incarcerated youth, people with mental illnesses, and many more. Overall, the outcome has a positive impact on the quality of life. So, with such positive and everlasting effects all across the globe, should we consider this a new and improved form of therapy? Although, there are seldom environments where art therapy can only be considered safe when a skilled therapist is involved. Therefore, being used only as a complementary therapy to help cancer patients deal with their emotions that coincide with their diagnosis, due to its inevitable healing process, which can bring to light some ... Guardian Angel Movie Analysis Gabriel Gabby Messinger, a Guardian Angel who has trouble following the rules and is known for meddling in the love live s of others, is tasked by the Angel Michael to help the town of Angel Falls find its Christmas spirit again. First of all, I want to say that this film surpassed all my expectations. Sometimes, I am hesitant when it comes to angel films, but because of who the three stars are (and especially because of the male lead), I was determined to give this film a chance. Furthermore, it is airing on Hallmark, and how could I not watch it? If you are looking for a film that follows the Scriptural teachings of angels, this might not be for you. I could speak to all the reasons why the theology of the movie is unsound, but that is not why I watched this film. The film is so uncommonly well written and acted with such depth that I could care less about whether the story could ever happen or not. The values of the film are intact, and if nothing else, I applaud Hallmark for emphasizing the concept of free will (something most Christians and church people esteem) and including the Lord s Prayer (how often do we see that on network TV?). I did not plan on becoming emotional during this movie, but I literally spent the last twenty minutes or so crying off and on because the story was remarkably poignant (and I wasn t certain how it would end) and the three main actors Rachel Boston, Paul Greene, and Beau Bridges are such phenomenal artists! Edward s death hits his family hard, but not in the way one might expect, seeing as they rarely see him. Though everyone has coping mechanisms to deal with death, William s is unusual.William only understands his father through the stories he tells, so when Edward dies, William remembers him through his stories. The stories that Edward recite are the only way he and his son connect. Even on his deathbed, Edward s stories take the place of meaningful conversations with his son. But I do take him seriously; this is the problem...Where s your sense of humor? Give me a break son, I m dying here! (16 Wallace). The book itself is proof that William barely knows his father s true nature, seeing as the entire book is told in eccentric stories that are not within the realm of possibility. On his father s death, William does not know how to confront Edward s passing, so instead, he turns him into a story. He says All this time, my father was becoming a fish. • 34. Claudio Monteverdi Research Paper Claudio Monteverdi, (baptized May 15, 1567, Cremona, Duchy of Milan [Italy] died Nov. 29, 1643, Venice), Italian composer in the late Renaissance, the most important developer of the then new genre, the opera. He also did much to bring a modern secular spirit into church music. Early career Monteverdi, the son of a barber surgeon and chemist, studied with the director of music at Cremona cathedral, Marcantonio Ingegneri, a well known musician who wrote church music and madrigals of some distinction in an up to date though not revolutionary style of the 1570s. Monteverdi was obviously a precocious pupil, since he published several books of religious and secular music in his teens, all of them containing competent pieces in a manner not far from that of his master. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he went on composing, he published little for the next 11 years. In 1595 he accompanied his employer on an expedition to Hungary and four years later to Flanders. In about 1599 he married a singer, Claudia Cattaneo, by whom he had three children, one of whom died in infancy. When the post of maestro di cappella, or director of music, to the duke became vacant on the death of Wert in 1596, Monteverdi was embittered at being passed over, but in 1602 he achieved the position, at the age of 35. He published two more books of madrigals in 1603 and 1605, both of which contain masterpieces. The avant garde manner was now better assimilated into his idiom. While his aim was still to follow the meaning of the verse in great detail, he solved the purely musical problems of thematic development and proportion. Although the dissonances became more severe and the melody sometimes still more angular, the total effect was more varied in emotion and less neurotic. If Guarini s eroticism stimulated a sensual musical style, Monteverdi often gave his mature madrigals a lightness and humour, seeing the essence of a poem rather than its ... • 35. Egalitarianism Is The Belief Of Equality For All,... Egalitarianism is the belief in equality for all, irrespective of class, gender or race. Hunter gatherer societies are often described by anthropologists as egalitarian; however perhaps some, more so than others. The social organizations of peoples like the Pygmies of the Central African forests and the San (Bushmen) for example, are labelled strikingly egalitarian in contrast to Northwest Coast Indians who display social stratification . There is also evidence suggesting that descent groups exercise corporate control over delimited tracts of resources such as fishing stations, hunting grounds and berrying areas (Barnard and Spencer 2011: 364). This suggests that the hunter gatherer ethos is practiced in diverse ways, depending on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... G. Bicchieri, Ernest S. Burch, Jr., Carol R. Ember, Kirk M. Endicott, Roy Richard Grinker, Steve Gudeman, Mitsuo Ichikawa, Tim Ingold and George W. Wenzel 1992: 27). Hence Sahlins findings can be attributed to the cosmic economy of sharing present in many hunter gatherer societies, as they adopt an immediate return system that demonstrates their commitment to maintaining an egalitarian way of living. In immediate return societies every individual has a share of the social product, regardless of how much he or she has contributed to it (Lee and Daly 1999). This indicates the importance of a fair distribution of resources such as food that may become scarce at certain times during the year amongst hunter gatherers. Among the Ju/ hoansi, the distribution of meat in particular is noted as a symbolic social event, whereby the arrangement of the pieces of meat can take up to an hour in order to ensure that each recipient is given the right proportion (Lee 1993:50). This ritual of sharing is also evident amongst the Hadza and !Kung tribes, with Woodburn suggesting that hoarding food when another person is hungry would be socially unacceptable (Woodburn 1982). Thus, perhaps food sharing in such a distinct social context can be interpreted as a sort of insurance policy that reduces the risk of starvation and hunger within the community as a whole, showing that the hunter gather ethos values society over the individual. • 36. Essay On Miranda Rights Warning In many cases of arrest in the United States, there is the reading of one very important warning. This warning is known as the Miranda Rights. The other official title that this warning was given though is the Miranda Warning. The Miranda Rights though, tell every citizen who is at least the suspect of a crime, that they are not required to speak to any person of authority who is questioning them for any reason. That is, unless they feel the need to do so. These rights notify suspects and citizens also, that they have the right to an attorney, and that if they cannot afford one, that there still will be one that is provided for them. Our country s citizens all deserve to have their Miranda Rights read to them when being taken into custody by police. Honestly, our citizens not only deserve it, they need it. • 37. Social Class in the United States Essay There is much debate about the issue of social class in the United States. There are arguments about whether social classes are distinctly separate or fluid, dependent upon one s community or society as a whole, and if they are subjective or objective (Hughes and Jenkins). However, despite the debate surrounding social classes, it is still important to try to define them and analyze their effects, as they are such an important part of our identity and our opportunities in society. Although our society has tried to appear as though we have no classes, and it is becoming harder to tell what class someone is in by material goods, classes do still exist today (Scott and Leonhardt). The trend has been to divide the U.S. into four major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the debates about social class, the United States is usually described as having four major social classes, the elite or upperclass, the middle class, the working class, and the lower class (Goldscmidt). Classes are generally differentiated by income, education, and occupation although other factors do have an effect. The upperclass consists of about 1% of the population making 750,000 dollars or more a year as investors, top executives, or heirs to large fortunes (Hughes and Jenkins). There tends to be no question about who is in the upperclass as they are pretty clearly isolated in their power and wealth. The middle class makes up about 40% of the population making anywhere from 40,000 to 749,999 dollars a year (Hughes and Jenkins). The large disparity in income and wealth have led to a further division of this class into upper middle class and middle class in some circles. The middle class usually work white collar jobs as professionals and managers, however some highly skilled blue collar workers are included. Those in the middle class have usually obtained higher education degrees and place a high value on individual responsibility for one s class (Goldschmidt). The working class is composed of about 50% of the population earning 13,000 to 39,000 dollars a year (Hughes and Jenkins). Some also divide this class into a working class and a ... This means the problem will exist regardless of outside variables (i.e. workers, machinery, etc.) Special cause variation is the result of a variable external to the system. These problems stem from a specific or unique condition (i.e. workers, machinery, etc.). It is important to understand the difference between the two because they require distinctly different methods of correction. Addressing the problem correctly can improve quality and reliability of output. However, misinterpreting a common cause variation as a special cause variation is a common and costly mistake. Managers begin to analyze and adjust the system assuming that the variation stems from a condition unique to their project when in reality it is an overarching organizational flaw. As a result, variation in quality and reliability may actual increase when managers attempt to compensate for what they mistakenly believe to be special cause variation. 4.
