Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao And Murasaki
Genji and his love with Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao and Murasaki
Genji is the main character in a Japanese classical work The Tale of Genji , which is considered the
world s first psychological novel written by Japanese novelist Murasaki Shikibu during the Heian
period. Using extended prose narrative, Murasaki Shikibu portrays Genji s romances, usually tragic,
with different women in his life.
Among all the women Genji has a romance with, there are three special women, Fujitsubo Lady,
Yugao and Murasaki, he shows great love to. Fujitsubo Lady, with a high status and resembles Genji s
mother Kiritsubo Lady, is the Emperor s favorite consort. Unlike Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao is a woman
born with a low status. Murasaki, at the time when found by Genji, ... Show more content on

While getting married to Aoi, an elegant woman with high status, Genji is not satisfied with the
marriage between him and Aoi. In his mind, His wife was her usual self, elegant and correct, with a
guarded air that made him feel awkward (Page118). This awkward feeling made him not willing to
spend extra time with Aoi and impelled him to search for alternative women especially those who are
more submissive and docile. Genji s encounter with Yugao made him find an ideal woman who is
submissive enough. According to Genji, Yugao is extremely submissive, willing to accept whatever he
might do (Page67) and she had clung to him all day long with a timidity that he found touchingly
childish (Page71). He found Yugao is much different from his current wife Aoi who is always cold
him, and her submissiveness and timidity give Genji a feeling of superiority, which he did not have
when he is with Aoi. When Genji cannot get enough love from his wife Aoi, he as no choice but to go
out and search for alternatives. Given Aoi s proud characteristic and high status, it is extremely hard
for Genji to change the way she behaves and make her submissive in front of him. People cannot deny
the psychological fact that they are more inclined to stay with people they like instead of people they

Partition Is The Gateway For Mass Hatred Between Hindus...
Partition itself was the gateway for mass hatred between Hindus and Muslims. Following partition as
majority of Hindus, Sikh, and Muslim relocated into India and Pakistan based on their respective
religions, the Hindu majority being represented by India and the Muslim majority represented by
Pakistan. Several people did go to their respective sides following the partition, feeling as though the
two religious groups truly were separate people, however not every one took part in this migration,
some Muslims and Hindus chose not to relocate despite their religious interests. The short story Toba

Manto uses his main character Bishan Singh s, a formerly wealthy landowner in Toba Tek Singh, a
place in Pakistan, with a fragile sense of what the partition involved, to highlight the partitions
negative impact on an individual s sense of loyalty to where they feel they should and have always
belonged. Manto and Sathyu use their stories to show the complex relationships of individuals to their
homeland and the large implications religious politics have on their social, familial and ancestral
relationships in South Asia. Partition led to the unraveling of several investments that Muslims had to
support their lives in India before partition. The film Garahm Hawa (1975) highlights the shoe
manufacturing business of the Mirzas, a Muslim family living in a house filled with ancestral history
for their family, in India. Salim Mirza attempts to acquire business loans from the banks and
moneylenders while in India but is turned down simply because he is Muslim. The film shows how
Salim and his family face terrible misfortunes because of their Muslim loyalties, the family loses their
historic home and one by one they begin to move away. Initially, the film shows that even though they
are Muslims, the family respect and care for India, until the country continues to tear them apart for
who they are. Sathyu uses

Occupational Therapist, Social And Human Service...
With the variety of majors and interests college offers, the decision of choosing a career holds a heavy
weight. There are many paths one can go to have a successful, fulfilling job for the rest of their lives;
this is where college can explore a person s likes and dislikes. From taking taking the self assessment,
it resulted careers that revolve around medical and/or as educators to help others. These choices
seemed very very accurate and possible that I want to pursue. I have always been passionate of caring
for others in some source. The four careers that I decided to further research are: occupational
therapist, social and human service assistant, pharmacist, and veterinarian. An occupational therapist
treat ill and/or disabled patients to regain the ability to do everyday activities. These patients could
range from working with children, old adults, ones without a limb, alzheimer patients, and etc. They
could also work at hospitals, schools, home health care services, or go to the patient s home directly.
This career requires a master s degree in occupational therapy. The median annual wage for this career
is $80,150 with being $38.54 per hour (BLS, 2015b). Employment of occupational therapist is
projected to increase 27 percent, which is faster than the average compared than all occupations (BLS,
2015b). In the Las Vegas area, there are currently 124 full time job openings and 35 part time job
openings (Indeed, 2016b). When I was in high school, occupational

Bleachers Character Analysis
Pulling Through Benjamin Franklin once said, Players must remember that the best victory was not
over the opponent but over oneself. In Bleachers, Reverend Collis Suggs plays a minor role by not
appearing in the novel until the last few pages while presenting his eulogy. In this eulogy, Collis Suggs
offers many situations that help him find victory in himself. He shows how he personally overcame
segregation from his youth along with how Rake helps him to become a better person and how he
helps others resolve their problems. As a high school boy, Collis Suggs lives through a period of time
in Messina as the town is beginning to become integrated. He and other classmates are unenrolled at
their old school to go to an all white school. As he says, We were intimidated, but we knew we had to
be brave (Grisham, 212). Through this time, Collis has to deal with this intimidation along with Rake
s rough football practices, yet he manages to be brave and strong each day. At the end of a football
game, it is not if he and his team win or lose that matters. It is if he goes home feeling confident about
being who he is where he is. Collis is able to prevail over the speculation of racial conflict, and he, as
a person, is able to relax. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rake shows him that he is a part of a team no matter what color he is. He teaches him that if you re
not going to give it your best then there is no sense being on the field (215). Rake impacts Collis with
his perspective of how no person as the right to mistreat another. Rake s sensitivity to the suffering of
others seems to touch Collis. This helps him to become a better person and have a victory over himself
in a way. Rake shows Collis that he has to fix himself before he tries to aid others fix

Cooper s Ice Arena Solution Claude Cooper s target segment for his public ice skating sessions seems
to be adult couples, kids (14 and younger) and teens (14 and up) I think those target segments can
increase revenue for him he may just be going about the wrong way. There s also potential to make
certain sessions more exclusive than other public sessions but Claude seems hesitant to do so. His
strategies or ideas are great in theory however the results show only poor sales. I believe his focusing
on one target group so heavily has left him sort sided as to the potential of profits each segment brings
to offering public ice skating sessions.
Each group can benefit from public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once he builds the popularity of his sessions he can start to offer exclusive sessions to certain target
markets.
For the elusive teen segment Claude should advertise on contemporary (pop, hip hop, etc.) local radio
stations that teens actually listen to. He can offer an exclusive teen night either Friday or Saturday
night. He should think about hiring a contemporary dj to play that night and encourage everyone who
comes to tweet, hashtag or upload selfies to their social apps(Twitter or Instagram).
For couples he can offer a couples only night designed around bonding and socializing. He could offer
a couples night out package that incorporates a public ice skating session that comes with hot cocoa
for two or wine for older couples.
For the kids he could have ice skating races where the winner wins a prize and offer times either on
Saturday or Sunday afternoons where kids can come and have birthday parties.
By defining each target market and finding each target markets value of his product he can then sell
his product in a way that appeals to all of the groups. These changes will then allow Claude to
generate the revenue he originally set out to make.

John Muir had no such choices available in his day, but it is not certain he would have used them if

The Differences Between Black Americans And White Americans
There has never been two men who fought for the same cause yet had two completely different views
such as Martian Luther King and Robert Williams. These two men strived to bring equality to Black
Americans. King believed in peaceful protest that made lawmakers and legislation realize that there
was an issue that needed and had to be addressed in order to bring about social equality. Williams on
the other had believed that a personal war was the only way to fix the issues between Black Americans
and White Americans. Martian Luther King Jr. was born and raised in Atlanta to a Baptist church
going family. King s father was an intimidating man who was quoted for saying that he would make
something out of [Martian] even if he had to beat him to death while whooping King one day as a
child. But still King was inspired by his father s challenging nature towards others ignorance. For
example King tells about when he was a boy his father and him were pulled over and the police officer
referred to King Sr. as boy . So King Sr. pointed to Martian and snapped, that is a boy, I am a man.
King remembered every time someone referred or called him a nigger and watched how poorly his
fellow Black American was treated as second class citizens. As King grew older he joined the church
as a preacher. King went on to study many types of people and ideas ranging from Marxism to forms
of Christianity to Gandhi. King had a unique ability to absorb and synthesis the concepts of great

Waterfall Short Story
Waterfall The story of how I jumped off a waterfall starts one brisk morning in Costa Rica. My
brother, my dad, and I woke up pretty early given the fact that we were on vacation. I wasn t too
thrilled about losing out on a few hours of sleep, but my brother didn t seem to mind. As I stepped out
into the cool Costa Rican air I wasn t sure I was going to enjoy the hike we would be going on. My
dad said There is a waterfall at the end of the trail, and I think we can swim in the water beneath it.
None of that really excited me. I had seen quite a few waterfalls on other trips that I had been on and
didn t think they were anything super special. On top of that, I could walk down to the beach and
swim if I really wanted to. I would much rather go to the beach and boogie board than go see a
waterfall. After a short discussion, I reluctantly got in the car. It was a long ride to the start of the trail,
so I was able to get a little more sleep. For most of the ride I looked out the window at the infinite
amount of trees. I don t think I had ever seen more trees in my life. They were everywhere. On both
sides of the road there were tall trees with long vines hanging from them. The thing that I found more
amazing was how dense the forest was. I could barely see five feet into the trees because it was so
dark. The trees blocked out just about every inch of sunlight. I remember my brother asking What
happens if you get lost in there? . I answered Well you would probably never

Getting Lost at the L.A County Fair I turned around and at that moment I realized I was lost. Field
Trips are always exciting growing up because it s a day off of school until you get lost. I always
looked forward to going on field trips growing up. To me it was an opportunity to miss class but also
learn new exciting things. Every year in middle school, my school went to the Los Angeles County
Fair in the beginning of September. Since it was the beginning of the school year, it was a fun time
considering this is the most exciting field trip all year. There was this feeling about this field trip that it
was going to be different.

to see if they went to the other side, surprise they weren t there. I went to the last place we went, they

to where I was in the first place. I was walking and at the corner of my eye, I saw a person from my
group looking at some artifacts. I went over there and saw the rest of my group. I became relieved to
see them. My friend asked me, where I did I go? And I told her, that I was still writing down facts
when they left me. At that point I realized, that they may have left me on purpose because I wasn t

After that scary experience, we enjoyed ourselves and got food and ride on a few fair rides.
This trip was unlike any other ones.Getting lost at such a big place, was a scary experience. This is a
moment, that I will always remember that changed my outlook on people. No matter what, I learned to
put the past behind me and be cautious of my surroundings. I guess that it just shows to make sure you

experience, I learned to keep up with my group at all times and make sure I don t get left behind even
if I don t like the people I m working with. This time in my life reminds me to keep a watchful

Fibrous Capsule Essay
Doctors may use the terms cancer, malignancy, lump, neoplasm, growth and tumour interchangeably.
The tumour is often multifocal i.e. there are several tumour nodules present within the liver. We do not
know if this is because it starts off as one tumour that then spreads within the liver via blood vessels,
or if several separate tumours start to grow at the same time. Once the tumour cells get into the blood
circulation, HCC can spread to the lungs, bones and nearly any other part of the body. Tumour cells
can also travel along the lymph vessels to the lymph glands (also called lymph nodes) at the base of
the liver. HCC is the most common primary hepatic tumor and one of the most common cancers
worldwide. HCC is a primary malignancy of hepatocellular origin. The radiologic characteristics of

different degrees of fatty metamorphosis are present. Internal septa show delayed enhancement,
similar to that of the fibrous capsule. HCC has a typical tendency to produce small or minute satellite
nodules ( daughter lesions), frequently located in the vicinity of the main tumor. These nodules,
representing intrahepatic metastases usually developed via the portal vein branches, show the same CT

The Southern Dialect as Seen in the Works of William Faulkner
In the writings of William Faulkner, the reader may sense that the author has created an entire world,
which directly reflects his own personal experience. Faulkner writes about the area in and around
Mississippi, where he is from, during the post Civil War period. It is most frequently Northern
Mississippi that Faulkner uses for his literary territory, changing Oxford to Jefferson and Lafayette
County to Yoknapatawpha County, because it is here that he lived most of his life and wrote of the
people he knew.
Faulkner s stories focus on the Southeastern United States at a time period when old traditions began
to clash with new ideals. This is an era in American history ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Anyone not from the South may need explanations of much of Faulkner s pronunciations, words,
usages, and language customs which the author himself takes for granted. Because Faulkner has
employed such a vast and complex Southern dialect in his stories, the language he uses has become a
microcosm of Southern language as a whole. As one critic has noted, local forms of speech maintain
one s individual dignity in a homogenizing world (Burkett vii).
In Faulkner, this local speech is a mixture of Southern American and Negro dialogue with all the
folklore from Virginia to Louisiana, Florida to Texas (Brown 2). Faulkner s dialect is effective both as
a literary device and as a link between the American English language and American culture and
history, specifically in the Southeast.
The South is probably the most linguistically diversified part of the nation. Blacks and whites from
Atlanta to Charleston to Nashville speak a different form of standard English in a different version of
the Southern accent. Part of this linguistic diversity is reflected in the way that the Southern
aristocracy can shift not only vocabulary and pronunciation, but even grammar, according to the
audience ((1)McDavid 219). This

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is half a century old, but critics are still asking whether
anything in our multicultural, diverse world can be truly universal.
Some ask, isn t human rights an essentially Western concept, ignoring the very different cultural,
economic and political realities of the South? Can the values of the consumer society be applied to
societies that have nothing to consume? Isn t talking about universal rights rather like saying that the

Culture is too often cited as a defence against human rights by authoritarians who crush culture
domestically when it suits them. In any case, which country can truly claim to be following its
traditional culture in a pure form? None have remained in a pristine state; all have been subject to
change and distortion by external influence, both as a result of colonialism and through participation
in modern inter state relations. You cannot follow the model of a modern nation state cutting across
tribal boundaries and conventions, and then argue that tribal traditions should be applied to judge the
human rights conduct of that modern state.
There is nothing sacrosanct about culture anyway. Culture is constantly evolving in any living society,
responding to both internal and external stimuli, and there is much in every culture that societies quite
naturally outgrow and reject. Are we, as Indians, obliged to defend, in the name of our culture, the
practices of sati or of untouchability? The fact that slavery was acceptable across the world for at least
two thousand years does not make it acceptable to us now.
The basic problem with cultural relativism is that it subsumes all members of a society under a
framework they may prefer to disavow. If dissenters within each culture are free to opt out and to
assert their individual rights for example, Muslim women in my country, India, have the

14000 Military Job Opportunities For Women Essay
The Defense Department recently announced new policies that will open more than 14,000 military
job opportunities to women. Which seems like a great step except that more than 200,000 positions
will still remain exclusive to men, from front line infantry positions to high level special operations
roles. States Dani Moritz from The Muse. (Mortiz) Women have been thrown out of spotlight when it
came to genuine positions. Does this shout disparity for women, as well as stereotyping and it for the
most part tosses women s rights ideal out of the window?
Women began to climb the ladder and finally became equal to men, well almost. Women s rights
include, but is not limited to positions that any man can hold, promotions that were not allowed
beforehand last but not least socially and legal equality. As women, we can t continue to yell
inequality when we are not on the same playing field as men. We, women, have more leverage than
the men. Aspiring to be like men would require us to also go the same extra mile that the male has to
also. Women s right is not for us to be equal while also being held on a pedestal at the same time.
Equality goes both ways, it is for us, as well as men. The inequality of the military has men doing the
double of what women do because they are seen as being mentally and physically stronger. This
relates to the requirements of the military that they have in place which indeed need to be changed for
it to be deemed as an equal service. This identifies

Summary Of Lizard By Lucius Sims
Consistently through Lucius Sims life, he is made fun of for looking different, much like how people
are bullied today. Throughout the book, Lizard, Lucius Sims is portrayed by the author, Dennis
Covington, as a mentally challenged person, and he contributes to the theme of overcoming bullying.
Because of his facial features, Lucius Sims is portrayed as a mentally challenged kid , and is sent off
to a school for boys, like him. Lucius, or better known as Lizard, got his name, and was placed in the
school he is in due to his, ...eyes more on the side of his head than most people s and a nose that lies

boys due to how the author portrayed him, which was as a special child. This shows that looks can

Film Critique On The Deer Hunter Essay
Since 1968, there have been at least 25 films made that portray the events of the Vietnam War.
Historians have to ask themselves when watching these films, Did the fictional character represent
historical figures accurately? Is this how a soldier would react in this situation? The point of view of
the director of the film can change with simple alterations in camera angles. For example, a view from
the ground of a battle seen can show how the innocent people had the war in their own backyards. The
view from a helicopter can show Viet Cong firing rounds at American troops and the troops can t tell
the difference between the innocent and the enemy. The audience feels empathy and sympathy for the

In fact, it did just the opposite. It showed the atrocities that occurred in the war and caused many pro
war advocates to question whether or not we should have been there in the first place. However, it
only showed atrocities done to American troops, but it didn t show atrocities that American soldiers
did to the Vietnamese. That didn t happen until the release of the 1986 film, Platoon.
The whole film is based on a scene in the first third of the movie when Michael tells Nick that you
need to kill a buck with one shot. This is foreshadowing for the Russian roulette that they were forced
to play in the POW camp and at the end of the movie when Nick kills himself while playing roulette.
When asked about the roulette scenes Michael Cimino, the director of the movie, said that he had only
read about games of that nature in a newspaper report (After the Fact, page 418). But no journalist
confirmed ever reporting such tactics in the prison camps. So one might suspect that these scenes, so
powerful and the principle on which the film s symbolism is based, may not have ever actually
occurred in these camps, or at least so rarely that it could hardly be portrayed as the general nature of
games that the POWs were forced to play.
The Deer Hunter does not focus much on the actual war in the field of battle. The director simply did
not spend much of the movie in Vietnam. However, I thought the

A Rush Of Blood To The Head Analysis
A Rush of Cash, Love, and 9/11 to the Head Coldplay s sophomore album A Rush of Blood to the

album was released in 2002 after the September 11th terrorist attacks, and the song, A Rush of Blood

lead singer of Coldplay, Chris Martin, has said that the song is an homage to Johnny Cash s way of

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Intermodal...
Intermodal steel shipping containers have been put to use for various things when they no longer cross
the high seas. Generally retired shipping containers are used as storage containers or are turn into
building construction site mobile offices. A current trend gaining strength in the architectural
community is transforming steel intermodal containers into the basis for homes and light business
construction applications.
Fortunes of a construction development using an innovative approach are influenced by the research
done at the front end of the project. Here we will take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of
implementing shipping containers as part of your building.

The intermodals will examine containers and condemn them if broken welds, twisted frames, or pin
holes are identified. For use in construction, some issues could be less significant than others.
Handling
The size and weight of the containers will require them to be placed by the crane or forklift.
Traditional brick block and lumber construction materials are commonly moved by hand
Chemicals
A container can hold a wide variety of freight while in its working life. Spills or contamination might
have happened on the inside surfaces and will have to be cleaned before habitation. Ideally, the paint
on every internal surface should be removed to bare metal and re painted with a non toxic paint
product. In addition, chemicals released from paint and sealants used in manufacture of the shipping
container might be harmful.
Temperature Humidity Extremes
Steel is a conductor of heat. Containers used for human occupancy in an area with extreme
temperature variations will need to be better insulated than most brick, block or wood structures. In
temperate climates, moist interior air condenses against the steel; rust will form unless the steel is well
sealed and insulated.

Social And Environmental Impacts Of Latin America
The social and environmental impacts of development in Latin America are closely tied together, and
while they affect everyone it seems that the brunt of it is felt by indigenous and the so called peasants
of Latin America. The environmental and social impacts work in tandem to further oppress Indigenous
people who have faced oppression since the Spanish first landed on their shores. Land continues to be
taken from them and MNCs, foreign interests, and even their own governments have deteriorated the
quality of the land that they still possess due to exploitation. This is particularly prevalent in countries
such as Ecuador, which have a long history of reliance on primary commodity exports.
In Ecuador the oil industry is one that began its domination in the 1970s, of which massive plots of
land were contracted to Texaco Golf, roughly 1.431 million hectares in the Oriente area (Rochlin, 14)
After numerous spills occurred in the area a local NGO stepped in and started a lawsuit against Texaco
Chevron for what they called indigenous cultural destruction . (Rochlin, 24) Where they claimed
numerous locals had been noticing increased levels of cancer and other unusual illnesses. These
people are often overlooked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where in countries such as Chile and Argentina, policies have been implemented favoring MNCs as
opposed to indigenous people. These policies have given these MNCs more or less absolute right to
remove indigenous people from mineral rich land. (Gordon Webber, 69) Furthermore, mining projects
such as the Pascua Lima gold mine can have massive externalities both socially and environmentally.
The proposed plan to transfer roughly 10 hectares of glacier sitting above the Huasca Valley would
have robbed farmers of their water source, drastically altered local habitats and the cyanide run off
from cyanide heaping would have contaminated local water. (Gordon Webber,

Theme Of To Kill A Mockingbird Lessons
Childhood years are a very impressionable time. This is no different for the fictional characters Scout
and Jem Finch. Growing up in southern Alabama, they learned many lessons from the people around
them and the circumstances they faced. Some of these important lessons learned are courage, empathy,
and prejudice. First, they learned a great lesson about courage; courage isn t merely physical. Scout
describes her father as feeble and old. In their eyes, he never did anything worth mentioning. He
works in an office. He sits and reads. He won t play football. He doesn t hunt and doesn t play poker.
What can he be good for? But as the book progresses, they begin to see that Atticus is braver than
most men when it really counts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Marked Women Deborah Tannen Analysis
In Marked Women, Unmarked Men, Deborah Tannen discusses the nature of marked women and its
consequences. Tannen, a female writer, points out the marked aspects of women by first giving an
example of three differently clothed women, named No. 1 through 3, in a meeting. She allows readers
to visualize the distinct difference between men and women s appearance. Then she shifts to
explaining in depth about the definition of marked and how it appears on the daily lives of women.
She spends most of her article discussing the conference meeting example and the definition of
marked . Although Tannen indicates many contradictions surrounding the marked female aspects like
clothing and surnames, she does not reach to a conclusion. Because the

The Gettysburg Address By President Abraham Lincoln
The Gettysburg Address was a speech composed and addressed by President Abraham Lincoln in
1863, at the time of the political fight in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. At that time, Abraham Lincoln was
the President of the United States. He was also the President who led America through the Civil War.
During the Civil War, at Gettysburg, some soldiers died protecting the nation. This was mentioned in
Lincoln s speech, which was meant to be dedicated to the soldiers who died defending their people.
He spoke of how a piece of land on Earth should be dedicated in their memory in order to show

Mencken criticized Lincoln s Gettysburg Address, saying that it made no sense. To Mencken, the
speech was just one of Lincoln s political moves to gain more fame and win the people s support, and
Lincoln speech was untrue because Mencken believed that the speech was just mere words to soothe
the listener. Mencken gave the opinion which he felt was right regarding the message Abraham
Lincoln presented at the Gettysburg Address, by criticizing it as being eloquent , poetry and said that
its beauty undercuts its logic , sense and truth .(Mencken 1920, 775). However, it was not true because
during the speech in Gettysburg, Lincoln proved to the people that he was not just saying these things
because they was eloquent and had beauty , but, because he had plans for the growth of the nation
after the Civil War. Mencken presented Lincolns speech as It is difficult to imagine anything more

slavery in the South; The North, with the help of Lincoln, the Northerners gained their freedom
because, Lincoln stated the war was a test on the nation Now we are engaged in a great civil war,

Theme Of Religion In The Merchant Of Venice
How does the Theme of religion influence events in the merchant of Venice?
Religion is one of the main theme in the merchant of Venice and it plays a big role in the play.
Different characters have different religions. The main religions in this play is Christianity and
Judaism. The main Christian characters are Antonio, Bassanio and Portia. The main Jewish character
is Shylock.
In the beginning of the play, Bassanio wants to go to Belmont to try to marry Portia. Realizing that he
does not have any money to compete with all of those men, decides to borrow three thousand ducats
from his friend Antonio, (who is also a very generous and faithful Christian) in order to be able to

Bassanio is then able to meet up with Portia and then they fall in love and plan to get married. The
only problem is, 3 months passed by and Antonio isn t able to pay back the money to Shylock. As a
result of that, Shylock is extremely furious now, not only because his is not getting his money back,
but because his daughter Jessica, who is always kept at the Jew s house, has run away with her
Christian lover Lorenzo; he cannot be more angry about that, because losing his daughter is the worst
thing that can possibly happen to him, and the fact that he has escaped with a Christian makes him
even angrier since he hates Christians and seeing his daughter with one of them is the worst of the
insults for him and his religious believes as well.
When Bassanio came back and tell Antonio that he was going to marry his beloved Portia and that she
will pay for the loan, the Jew is so blinded with wrath that he is determined to take Antonio s pound of
flesh. He could have taken the money, even the double amount of money that he was asking for
initially, since Portia was willing to pay him more, but he did not want that, he preferred his pound of
flesh, he preferred to see the Christian dead in such way he could take revenge of the Christian man
who stole his daughter, because for Shylock his daughter was just another of his

Involvement of Parents in Their Child s Development
Project Part 3
For a working woman, maternity leave is a standard part of giving birth. Physically, the new mother
needs that time to recover from the birthing process, but there is an emotional reason, too. Experts
preach over and over that for those first few weeks of a baby s life, it needs the interaction and touch
of its mother to help with bonding to start their development on the right track. Shouldn t the father be
part of that process as well? Shouldn t the father of the new child be able to take paternity leave from
work? I believe they should, not only to bond with the child, but to help the mother with her recovery
and to coordinate visitors, appointments and any errands that may be needed. Some ... Show more

Friends, relatives, and neighbors alike all want to see the new bundle of joy. Some may want to cook
dinner for the new family and having the father home on paternity leave would help take this stress off
the new mother. When the mother is sleeping or caring for the child, the father could coordinate with
everyone wanting to visit so that the new family is not bombarded with everyone at once. A mother
having to deal with her own recovery as well as caring for the child could easily get overwhelmed
dealing with all the requests. On top of coordinating visitors, the father could manage the doctor s
appointments or errands to get supplies. Some mothers are on medication after birth and shouldn t
drive, not to mention that most new mothers don t want to take their newborn to a grocery store in
those first few weeks. Besides the obvious benefit to a child s development, paternity leave is
beneficial to the family as well. Research has shown that in families that the father takes paternity
leave, fewer divorces occur. This helps the family by strengthening it and not having the father only
play the role of being the primary bread winner. This creates a happy family, which extends to the
workplace as well. One might think there would be

King Richard II And Henry V
Many English monarchs believed in the divine right to rule. This right was given to them by God,
therefore they believed that no one could take their crown or it would destroy the rightful line of
succession. However, this was not always the case and some kings such as Richard II had their crown
forced from them. If a king believed in the divine right he often had a close relationship with God. In
William Shakespeare s comedies, the divine right to rule a kingdom is present in the ways in which
Richard II, Henry IV, and Henry V are come to rule England. Both Richard II and Henry V were
powerful rulers, whose ruling was heavily dictated by their divine right to rule and their relationship
with God. Through exploring the King s relationship to God in Shakespeare s tragedies Richard II, 1
Henry IV, 2 Henry IV, and Henry V, one can see that Henry V is the ideal Christian King. In
Shakespeare s history play Richard II, King Richard II s relationship with God can be explored
throughout the play as he gives up his crown. Richard II is easily seen as weak, making some think
that he is not fit for the role of king. He does not listen to his advisors and takes money from the
nobles. These actions lead Henry Bolingbroke to take the crown. Richard II does not put up much of a
fight as he willingly hands the crown over to Bolingbroke, but he does prolong the process as he
dramatically hands his crown and scepter over. Richard II even speaks out about his power that was
given to him:

Unesco And The World Heritage List

After the devastation created by World War I, and II, UNESCO (United Nations Educational,
Scientific, and Cultural Organization) was founded in 1945. This organization was created as a way to
establish peace, based on humanity s intellectual and moral solidarity. Then in 1972, UNESCO
founded the World Heritage Convention as a way to protect sites of exceptional worldwide importance
(UNESCO, 2012). This convention was later ratified by 191 countries, making it almost globally
accepted. The World Heritage List is made up of outstanding places that are to be safeguarded for

The nomination can then be submitted to the World Heritage Centre for review. Once complete the file
can then be sent to the appropriate Advisory Bodies for evaluation. Two Advisory Bodies, both of
which evaluate a site being nominated, include the International Council on Monuments and Sites
(ICOMOS) and the World Conservation Union (IUCN). These committees provide evaluations on a
site. There is a third Advisory Body known as the International Centre for the Study of the
Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), which provides expert advice as to the
conservation of cultural sites, along with training activities. The World Heritage Committee will then
make a final decision on whether a site will receive an inscription. This committee meets once a year
to decide upon nominations, and can defer a request. When a site is deferred, it is usually because
more information is needed from the state party nominating the location. Standards for selection must
include outstanding universal value, and meet a minimum of one of the ten selection criteria (World
Heritage Center, 2013:30 31).
As stated on UNESCO s (2012) website, there are 10 criteria for the nomination of World Heritage

Symbolism In Dead Poets Society
Dead Poets Society is a classic film from 1989 featuring Robin Williams, which takes place during the
50 s at a traditionalist boarding school for the rich with extremely strict customs and a straightforward
message: Tradition, Honor, Discipline and Excellence are all keys to academic success. Within the
film, elements such as character development, conflict, setting and symbolism together with a variety
of techniques are used to support the prevalent theme: Tradition can restrict individuality leading to
progressive thoughts. Mr. Nolan, the headmaster of Welton, is a strict individual who is shown
throughout the movie to have an extremely conservative viewpoint aiming to engrave the 4 pillars of
education into the minds of his pupils. As Nolan s character is developed, his ultimate goal of
restricting the individuality of the students and preserving the social customs of the academy become
increasingly apparent through his dialogue. At first Mr. Nolan appears to demonstrate the traditionalist
views of the academy through his inauguration speech in order to please the parents that have spent
their money on sending their children to an elite boarding school. However as the film continues it
becomes apparent that Nolan takes the customs and high standards of the school extremely seriously,
as evidenced by his increasingly bitter punishments for those that do not conform to his ideals. At first,
when Charlie on behalf of the Dead Poets Society decides to write an anonymous

Taking a Look at Addison s Disease
Autoimmune diseases are very common. There are over 23.5 million Americans who suffer from such
diseases. Women of child bearing age and people with a family history of autoimmune diseases are
more likely to be affected by these diseases. Addison s can also occur in dogs. This type of disease is
one that is caused by the attack of healthy cells and tissue. The immune system can t tell the difference
between the healthy tissue and the bad one and it attacks the normal one creating an autoimmune
disorder. Autoimmune disorders can destroy body tissue, change the function of an organ, or cause
abnormal growth in an organ. Parts of the body that are usually affected by these disorders are joints,
muscles, blood vessels, endocrine glands, or other organs. There is a wide variety of autoimmune
diseases. More than 80 kinds of diseases have been discovered.
One common autoimmune disease is Addison s disease. Addison s occurs when your body creates
antibodies which attach onto your adrenal cortex and destroys the cells which create cortisol, and
aldosterone. This may not seem to be a big deal but, it is life threatening. Cortisol is a hormone which
responds to stress, increases blood sugar, and suppresses the immune system. . It also helps regulate
the metabolism. When there is a lack of cortisol you can have symptoms such as diarrhea, inability to
handle stress, vomiting, loss of appetite, and much more. Aldosterone works with blood pressure, and

Shotcrete process is carried out either by these two processes: a) Wet process b) Dry process
a) Wet process: In the wet process mixture of cement and aggregate premixed with water and the
pump pushes the mixture through the hose and nozzle. Compressed air is introduced at nozzle to
increase the velocity of application.
b) Dry process: In dry mix process, compressed air propels premixed mortar and damp aggregate and
at the nozzle end water is added through a separate hose. The dry mix and water through the second
hose are projected on to a prepared surface.
Surface preparation before shotcreting involves a thorough cleaning and removing all loose aggregate
and roughening the existing concreting surface for improved bond. Shotcrete frequently has high

curing is always necessary. The shotcrete surface can be lift as sprayed which is somewhat rough. If a
smoother surface is required, a thin layer can be sprayed on the hardened shotcrete and then reworked

We expect this type of integration in supply chain planning in a highly differentiated organization to
require quite a broad and explicit cross functional reach. Although particular cross functional
interfaces have been developed e.g., marketing and logistics (Ellinger, 2000; Stank, Daugherty, and

broader reaching integration that consistently develops multi functional plans that are executed in a
coordinated fashion (Barratt, 2004; Fawcett and Magnan, 2002). While researchers have partially
addressed the roles and infrastructure required for integration, most of their proposals result from
attempts to address coordination (e.g., Celikbas, Shanthikumar, and Swaminathan, 1999; Chen, 2005;
Porteus and Whang, 1991) or from organizational level analysis across firms (e.g., Lawrence and

done on functioning integration approaches (Malhotra and Sharma, 2002) and a detailed

Kubrick And Lynch On The Patriarchy
Kubrick and Lynch on the Patriarchy
Stanley Kubrick s great breadth of work spans over forty eight years, and due to both his longevity
and skill, he has influenced filmmakers from several generations. Kubrick has been named as a
creative influence for a myriad of filmmakers, including Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, Terry
Gilliam, the Coen Brothers and Christopher Nolan [2,3]. Kubrick presents sensitive events in an
unbiased manner, withholding an opinion on the topic. By not offering a resolution or a stance, he
forces viewers to see the evils of man objectively. There is usually no punishment for the morally
corrupt acts, because that offers a more accurate portrayal of reality. Characters often do not fully
develop in Kubrick films, again as if to replicate reality. These unsettling techniques have left a clear
impression on the filmmaker David Lynch. His films often share a sense of amorality that goes
unpunished or unaddressed. Their respective world views are equally cynical, criticizing
traditionalism in society.
Arguably one of the most consistent links between Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch is their portrayal
of women in film. Stanley Kubrick does not choose to emphasize the struggles of being a woman in a
patriarchal society. Instead, he shows women through the patriarchal gaze. In A Clockwork Orange,
women are literally objectified, as plastic statues of naked women are used as coffee tables in the
Korova Milk Bar. This introduces the viewers to the protagonist,

European Influence On Native Americans
Although Native Americans would have grown and prospered after ejecting European colonists from
the New World, it would be foolish to assume that European nations would never breach the
Americas. While it is true that Europeans would be unable to overpower a fully intact Native
American presence, eventually, Europeans would seize the Americas the same way they conquered not
only Africa, but Asia as well. As time passed, technology boomed, and the Industrial Revolution
mechanized the European world. With their newly invigorated might, the chasm separating European
technology and that of the rest of the world split wider. With innovations including railroads,
telegraphs, advanced firearms such as the Gatling gun, steam engines, and sophisticated ... Show more

These systems required labor in order to operate. Originally, European colonists utilized native labor,
but seeing as Native Americans quickly perished as a result of disease, colonists resorted to importing
laborers from Africa. The necessity of African slavery in the American colonies became the reason for
the largest forced migration in history, as at least 12 million Africans were carried across the Atlantic
between the years 1500 and 1860, when the Atlantic slave trade was ended. The Middle Passage, the
journey from Africa to the New World across the Atlantic, was responsible for the deaths of nearly 2
million African slaves since slave carrying boats were often filthy and overcrowded, unscrupulously
jampacked with human cargo in an effort to utilize the boat s capacity and to increase the efficiency
and profit of each trip (Gates). Had Native Americans been immune to European pathogens, they
would have prevented any large scale European settlements from occurring in the Americas; therefore,
plantations, mines, and other labor intensive projects would be impractical for European explorers,
and the necessitation of slave labor would be nonexistent. As a result, the largest forced migration in
world history would be avoided. Even after Europe underwent the Industrial

Implications And Consequences Of Foster Care In America
Foster Care Many children who are placed in foster care are typical are either victims of child abuse
and neglect, parents who unfortunally can t care for them permanently or temporary, or just children
whom were abandoned. Foster care is defined as, a system in which a minor has been placed into a
ward, group home, or private home of a state certified caregiver, referred to as a foster parent . The
placement of the child is normally arranged through the government or a social service agency. Foster
Care has been around ever since the nineteenth century, but wasn t really publicized as it should have
been because American ideal vision of a family during the time was nuclear family (which consist of
mother, father, children) but over the past decade things have changed and foster care is also shaping
that view also. Social policy tends to ignore what they don t publicize. Children of immigrants were
often out on the street looking for work. They were sent on orphan trains and sent out west. Back in
the 1800s, no one talked about any sexual abuse children might have suffered on their journey out
west. Some of the slight problems in the early system were addressed, but the cause of the system still
existed. Some disadvantages of foster care is youth who enter the service have complicated, serious
physical health, mental health, or developmental problems. These developmental effects come from 1)

Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao And Murasaki Genji and his love with Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao and Murasaki Genji is the main character in a Japanese classical work The Tale of Genji , which is considered the world s first psychological novel written by Japanese novelist Murasaki Shikibu during the Heian period. Using extended prose narrative, Murasaki Shikibu portrays Genji s romances, usually tragic, with different women in his life. Among all the women Genji has a romance with, there are three special women, Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao and Murasaki, he shows great love to. In his mind, His wife was her usual self, elegant and correct, with a guarded air that made him feel awkward (Page118). This awkward feeling made him not willing to spend extra time with Aoi and impelled him to search for alternative women especially those who are more submissive and docile. Genji s encounter with Yugao made him find an ideal woman who is submissive enough. According to Genji, Yugao is extremely submissive, willing to accept whatever he might do (Page67) and she had clung to him all day long with a timidity that he found touchingly childish (Page71). He found Yugao is much different from his current wife Aoi who is always cold him, and her submissiveness and timidity give Genji a feeling of superiority, which he did not have when he is with Aoi. When Genji cannot get enough love from his wife Aoi, he as no choice but to go out and search for alternatives. Given Aoi s proud characteristic and high status, it is extremely hard for Genji to change the way she behaves and make her submissive in front of him. From taking taking the self assessment, it resulted careers that revolve around medical and/or as educators to help others. These choices seemed very very accurate and possible that I want to pursue. Through this time, Collis has to deal with this intimidation along with Rake s rough football practices, yet he manages to be brave and strong each day. At the end of a football game, it is not if he and his team win or lose that matters. It is if he goes home feeling confident about being who he is where he is. For the elusive teen segment Claude should advertise on contemporary (pop, hip hop, etc.) local radio stations that teens actually listen to. He can offer an exclusive teen night either Friday or Saturday night. He should think about hiring a contemporary dj to play that night and encourage everyone who comes to tweet, hashtag or upload selfies to their social apps(Twitter or Instagram). For couples he can offer a couples only night designed around bonding and socializing. He could offer a couples night out package that incorporates a public ice skating session that comes with hot cocoa for two or wine for older couples. For the kids he could have ice skating races where the winner wins a prize and offer times either on Saturday or Sunday afternoons where kids can come and have birthday parties. As I stepped out into the cool Costa Rican air I wasn t sure I was going to enjoy the hike we would be going on. My dad said There is a waterfall at the end of the trail, and I think we can swim in the water beneath it. None of that really excited me. I had seen quite a few waterfalls on other trips that I had been on and didn t think they were anything super special. On top of that, I could walk down to the beach and swim if I really wanted to. I would much rather go to the beach and boogie board than go see a waterfall. After a short discussion, I reluctantly got in the car. It was a long ride to the start of the trail, so I was able to get a little more sleep. For most of the ride I looked out the window at the infinite amount of trees. I don t think I had ever seen more trees in my life. They were everywhere. On both sides of the road there were tall trees with long vines hanging from them. The thing that I found more amazing was how dense the forest was. I could barely see five feet into the trees because it was so dark. The trees blocked out just about every inch of sunlight. It is most frequently Northern Mississippi that Faulkner uses for his literary territory, changing Oxford to Jefferson and Lafayette County to Yoknapatawpha County, because it is here that he lived most of his life and wrote of the people he knew. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anyone not from the South may need explanations of much of Faulkner s pronunciations, words, usages, and language customs which the author himself takes for granted. Because Faulkner has employed such a vast and complex Southern dialect in his stories, the language he uses has become a microcosm of Southern language as a whole. As one critic has noted, local forms of speech maintain one s individual dignity in a homogenizing world (Burkett vii). In Faulkner, this local speech is a mixture of Southern American and Negro dialogue with all the folklore from Virginia to Louisiana, Florida to Texas (Brown 2). Faulkner s dialect is effective both as a literary device and as a link between the American English language and American culture and history, specifically in the Southeast. The South is probably the most linguistically diversified part of the nation. Blacks and whites from Atlanta to Charleston to Nashville speak a different form of standard English in a different version of the Southern accent. Part of this linguistic diversity is reflected in the way that the Southern aristocracy can shift not only vocabulary and pronunciation, but even grammar, according to the audience ((1)McDavid 219). You cannot follow the model of a modern nation state cutting across tribal boundaries and conventions, and then argue that tribal traditions should be applied to judge the human rights conduct of that modern state. The whole film is based on a scene in the first third of the movie when Michael tells Nick that you need to kill a buck with one shot. Mencken gave the opinion which he felt was right regarding the message Abraham Lincoln presented at the Gettysburg Address, by criticizing it as being eloquent , poetry and said that its beauty undercuts its logic , sense and truth .(Mencken 1920, 775). However, it was not true because during the speech in Gettysburg, Lincoln proved to the people that he was not just saying these things because they was eloquent and had beauty , but, because he had plans for the growth of the nation after the Civil War. Shouldn t the father be part of that process as well? Shouldn t the father of the new child be able to take paternity leave from work? • 32. King Richard II And Henry V Many English monarchs believed in the divine right to rule. This right was given to them by God, therefore they believed that no one could take their crown or it would destroy the rightful line of succession. However, this was not always the case and some kings such as Richard II had their crown forced from them. If a king believed in the divine right he often had a close relationship with God. In William Shakespeare s comedies, the divine right to rule a kingdom is present in the ways in which Richard II, Henry IV, and Henry V are come to rule England. Both Richard II and Henry V were powerful rulers, whose ruling was heavily dictated by their divine right to rule and their relationship with God. Through exploring the King s relationship to God in Shakespeare s tragedies Richard II, 1 Henry IV, 2 Henry IV, and Henry V, one can see that Henry V is the ideal Christian King. In Shakespeare s history play Richard II, King Richard II s relationship with God can be explored throughout the play as he gives up his crown. Richard II is easily seen as weak, making some think that he is not fit for the role of king. He does not listen to his advisors and takes money from the nobles. These actions lead Henry Bolingbroke to take the crown. Richard II does not put up much of a fight as he willingly hands the crown over to Bolingbroke, but he does prolong the process as he dramatically hands his crown and scepter over. Symbolism In Dead Poets Society Dead Poets Society is a classic film from 1989 featuring Robin Williams, which takes place during the 50 s at a traditionalist boarding school for the rich with extremely strict customs and a straightforward message: Tradition, Honor, Discipline and Excellence are all keys to academic success. Within the film, elements such as character development, conflict, setting and symbolism together with a variety of techniques are used to support the prevalent theme: Tradition can restrict individuality leading to progressive thoughts. Mr. Nolan, the headmaster of Welton, is a strict individual who is shown throughout the movie to have an extremely conservative viewpoint aiming to engrave the 4 pillars of education into the minds of his pupils. As Nolan s character is developed, his ultimate goal of restricting the individuality of the students and preserving the social customs of the academy become increasingly apparent through his dialogue. At first Mr. Nolan appears to demonstrate the traditionalist views of the academy through his inauguration speech in order to please the parents that have spent their money on sending their children to an elite boarding school. • 42. Kubrick And Lynch On The Patriarchy Kubrick and Lynch on the Patriarchy Stanley Kubrick s great breadth of work spans over forty eight years, and due to both his longevity and skill, he has influenced filmmakers from several generations. Kubrick has been named as a creative influence for a myriad of filmmakers, including Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, Terry Gilliam, the Coen Brothers and Christopher Nolan [2,3]. Kubrick presents sensitive events in an unbiased manner, withholding an opinion on the topic. By not offering a resolution or a stance, he forces viewers to see the evils of man objectively. There is usually no punishment for the morally corrupt acts, because that offers a more accurate portrayal of reality. Characters often do not fully develop in Kubrick films, again as if to replicate reality. These unsettling techniques have left a clear impression on the filmmaker David Lynch. His films often share a sense of amorality that goes unpunished or unaddressed. Their respective world views are equally cynical, criticizing traditionalism in society. Arguably one of the most consistent links between Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch is their portrayal of women in film. Stanley Kubrick does not choose to emphasize the struggles of being a woman in a patriarchal society. Instead, he shows women through the patriarchal gaze. In A Clockwork Orange, women are literally objectified, as plastic statues of naked women are used as coffee tables in the Korova Milk Bar. This introduces the viewers to the protagonist, ... The Middle Passage, the journey from Africa to the New World across the Atlantic, was responsible for the deaths of nearly 2 million African slaves since slave carrying boats were often filthy and overcrowded, unscrupulously jampacked with human cargo in an effort to utilize the boat s capacity and to increase the efficiency and profit of each trip (Gates).
