Circuit Of Logisim That Controls An Entry Gate
CS25410 Assignment Report
The task was to implement a circuit in logisim that controls an entry gate. The gate has 3 possible
inputs; a £1 coin paid in, a £2 coin paid in or the cancel button pressed. The gate must store the
amount of money paid in and has four possible behaviours for outputs. Once the gate has received £4
it must open, in terms of implementation a LED must light up and stay lit until another input is
received, any extra money in the machine must count towards the next entry fee. The other behaviours
are based off when the cancel button is pressed, a LED relating to the amount of money paid into the
machine towards an entry fee e.g. a £1 LED if £1 is in memory etc. up to the maximum of £3, In the
circuit these LED s must stay on until the next input.
The general structure of my implementation can be split up into three segments; Input, storage, and
output. In the input section there are 2 bits of memory to temporarily store the 3 different inputs, 01
representing £1, 10 representing £2 and 11 representing cancel pressed. This memory is cleared once it
has been clocked into the main storage of the system. The storage is implemented with 3 bits of
memory as there are 6 possible states for the memory, £0 to £5, the 1 and 2 bit are only affected once
an input has been clocked in however the 4 bit is only affected by the carry bit of the 2 bit memory
and is cleared as soon as an input button has been pressed as this was part of the assignment
specification.

How Far Does the Disaster of 1898 Account for the Growth...
How far does the disaster of 1898 account for the growth of Catalan and Basque nationalism?
The humiliating defeat of Spain to America during the Spanish American War of 1898 dealt a
catastrophic blow to the Spanish nation. In the subsequent Treaty of Paris signed on December 10th
1898, Spain relinquished its remaining colonial territories in the Caribbean and the Pacific. The
disaster evoked heavy criticism of the Restoration government and its inherent corruption amongst
many groups within Spanish society and served as a catalyst for the emergence of new political forces
seeking to contest against the ruling oligarchy, most notably Catalan and Basque nationalism. This
essay will argue that the disaster of 1898 was largely accountable ... Show more content on

As such, Catalonian regionalist demands tended to assume a subordinate position in relation to the
greater demands of Spain and its profitable empire. However, the crisis of 1898 engendered the
breaking down of Catalan acquiescence with the Restoration system. The loss of Spain s colonial
territories brought with it the loss of colonial markets that had existed as prime export outlets for
Catalan industry. In the last decade of the nineteenth century Spanish exports to its colonies had more
than doubled from 146.1 million pesatas in 1891 to 365.4 million in 1897, with the value of
Catalonian produce to the colonies reaching a peak of 124 million pesatas in 1895. For the region s
major textile industry, the markets of Cuba and Puerto Rico accounted for one fifth of the entire output
of its cotton mills. In surrendering control, by 1902 the territories of Cuba, Puerto Rico and the
Philippines now received just 6.2% of Catalan textile produce, a decline from 22% in 1896. Within
Catalonia, a feeling that defeat had been caused by years of faulty centralism by a corrupt
administration ended any trust Catalan business had placed in the Restoration system to protect its
interests. In the spirit of the Regeneracionismo movement, Catalan business interests represented by
organisations such as the Fomento del Trabajo proposed a number of reforms designed to regenerate
the region in order to compensate for the loss of its vital export outlets. Yet, the

She creates Direct demand for tea, which can be credited to its quality. Derived demand for tea is
created when people who only go to her for cigarettes, order for tea to prevent their throats from going

preferences. On top of that, lack of competition makes it her monopoly. And the monopoly is what
allows her to charge exorbitant prices without the demand for it being affected too much. She s a
believer in the concept of Profit Maximization and not Sales Maximisation.

The use of an appropriate Location based on study of areas, and Timing it to perfection is what makes
it a Science. The Tea can be called a work of her art, or a recipe which involves scientific blending of

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Song Dynasty
As just stated so did the Northern Song clan members set up a capital in Hangzhou. Instead of
Northern Song so would they now be called Southern Song. Hangzhou back then was a wealthy
trading city and the Song rulers retained their domain south of the Huai River along with most of the
population at that time. They also managed to retain big southern merchant cities and therefore a new
period of prosperity began. A priority in Southern Song was foreign trade, and the government
constructed merchant ships and improved harbor facilities. Xiamen, Quanzhou and Guangzhou were
big seaports. The Southern Song merchant ships sailed as far as India and Arabia. The trade allowed
the Southern Song empire to continue to be prosperous although they had lost a lot of their land. The
government ended up building a navy to protect the merchant shipping. Passle wheel ships were built
that were faster than regular boats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thing which made the cultural propagation fluid from dynasty to dynasty was that the Chinese
mpires had a common written language for 2000 years. no matter what they spoke so would they be
able to read texts. Therefore by requiring candidates for official positions to pass exams by testing
their knowledge of the Neo Confucian texts, the court would be ensured that their officials were
exceptionally intelligent and could communicate in this very difficult literary language. The
government system had of course its advantages and disadvantages. The bureaucrats for an example
studied the same works on social behavior and philosophy. That promoted unity and the normalization
of behavior through the empire and during the times of dynastic change. The scholar bureaucrats had a
common base of understanding after all and they passed on these political and philological ideals to
the people underneath them so that the whole empire could have a common philosophy of

Women in Ancient Rome Essay
Women in Ancient Rome
In Roman times women were treated differently depending on their class, and family background.
However Roman women off all social classes were expected to assume, that they were merely
possessions of their fathers and then of their husband.
Many Romans told a story (below) about a woman named Cornelia, a Roman woman of the second
century BC:
An upper class women from Campania was staying with Cornelia, a mother of the Gracchi brothers.
She continually boasted about her jewels which were the most beautiful to be seen at that time,
Cornelia kept her talking until her children returned home from their lessons, then she said to the

In AD 14, the Emperor Augustus, on his death bed, is reported to have told his wife, Livia;
always remember whose wife you have been .
Freeborn Roman women were never allowed to forget that people always regarded them as someone s
daughter, wife or mother, but never as an individual who has their own rights.
Daughters
Roman daughters, much like Greek daughters, were always in the custody of the oldest male in her
family and had to obey their rules. (The paterfamilias) the head of the household. In the Roman law,
the paterfamilias was so important and powerful that he had the right over everyone s life in his
family.
The daughters name as simply the name of her fathers but in a feminine form, there was nothing
personal in a daughter s name. If the father was called (Marcus Tullius Cicero) the daughter would be
simply be called Tullia. If however more than one daughter was born in that family then to prevent
confusion she would be called Tullia the younger, or Tullia the second, and so on.
We know this because historian s found evidence of this, from letters written on papyrus sheets that
have survived from Roman times.
Laws passed by Roman emperor s show that unwanted children were exposed and left to die in public
places, often on rubbish heaps. The precise number of female babies left to rot like this is unknown;

portraying the lives of black maids and the white women who employ them. The movie is full of sins

the beginning of the movie, we immediately encounter a sin of commission. Mae Mobley, a young
two year old, is physically abused and neglected by her mother, Elizabeth. In one scene, Elizabeth
strikes her daughter for sitting on a black person s toilet. Sins of commission are sins we commit by

In the recent scenario, it seems like the earth is very small as we got connected to every part of the
world. Mars and the moon have become our regular visits and it seems that mankind may step on
Mars in this century. In the age, if advanced technology, Humans have covered trillions of miles in the

Admiral Mcraven s Commencement Speech
If I had Admiral William McRaven giving the commencement speech at my high school, I would have
felt honored. Due to his distinguished service record and the fact that he was a member of the Navy

experiences, the information passed onto us would be relatable to almost anything. So I would have
been ecstatic if Admiral McRaven would have given the speech at my high school graduation.
Through his speech, Admiral McRaven expressed information in many different areas. One point that
he expressed was that if you want to change the world, find someone to help you paddle (7:15 7:18).

California Drought Here in the desert we all know it s a very dry place. You may also know that
California is in a drought as well and the dryness of our area has resulted in many continuous
disadvantages. People are conserving water as much as they can but maybe some of you out there are
not doing your part in saving our water and I am here to tell you it is so simple! But first, let me
provide some facts on the drought in California that should help you realize the dire situation we are
in. According to saveourwater.com, 2013 was marked as the driest year on record in many parts of
California including Sacramento and Los Angeles. Water storage in the big reservoirs, ... Show more

In other words, the drought can really affect our economy as well as our social life. The Sierra Nevada
snowpack, which is counted on to provide 30 percent of the state s water supply as it melts through
early summer, is at its second lowest level on record. According to Hippo Reads, it will take about 11
trillion gallons of water (42 cubic kilometers) around 1.5 times the maximum volume of the largest
U.S. reservoir to recover from California s continuing drought, according to a new analysis of NASA
satellite data.
Now you may be thinking to yourself, How can California even start to cope with this drought? How
can it go back to normal in a climate that receives little snowpack and rain? Well although these issues
are complex, there have been some achievements political and otherwise toward developing more
resilient water supplies. One way is groundwater legislation: our Governor, Jerry Brown, signed
legislation mandating sustainable groundwater management, though the law leaves local entities to
define that idea further. We have to learn to manage wisely water, energy, land and our investments,
that s why this is important, said Governor Brown (CA.gov). Another way our government is helping
is the spending on water projects.

facing several other issues and challenges that need to be addressed. In order to address each of the
challenges, a standard issues matrix used below highlights the severity of an issue and the likelihood

Constructability Reviews: Fostering communication between the designers and the sailors was listed
as a potential problem area given that sailors can get the feeling that designers are too far removed

corrective action.

to have favoritism or quota s determining who would be on the boat. This is a delicate issue as lack of
confidence in your team members and the selection process could lead to a breakdown of trust, one of
the first symptoms of Dysfunction in a team. This is a particularly sensitive issue given that the entire

The Second Prohibition With recent years, excessive controversy has been brought up around
marijuana. The birth of this comes from more states pushing for legalization. Marijuana, as a part of
American history, is now being compared to another huge substance that has associated itself with

pot has additional benefits, identical side effects, and a similar history to alcohol.

The Formation of Major Weather Events Essay
For a tornado to form there must be a cold front, and low level moisture. Tornadoes are associated
with big and strong thunderstorms. A column of warm and humid air will rise quickly. How it begins
to rotate is not understood by scientists, but what they think is that two different winds with different
altitudes and speeds. This creates a wind shear. The column of air sometimes gets caught in a super
cell updraft. The updraft will tighten and speed up. When it begins to rain and hail, the precipitation
will push down the column of air to create a tornado. Tornadoes mostly occur on the southern half of

One popular idea is that small cloud particles have a positive charge, and then the other larger particles
are negatively charged. The particles separate, and the upper part of the cloud becomes positively
charged, while the lower part becomes negatively charged. The positive and negative charges attract
each other and the charges will grow strong enough to overcome the air s resistance to electrical flow.
Then the charges race toward each other, they connect, and create an electrical circuit. Then it
discharges the accumulated electricity as lightning. Lightning will most likely occur in the summer
time during a thunderstorm. As the lightning strikes, it travels downward toward the ground. Lightning
is measured by how much electricity a bolt of lightning will contain. What you should do during a
lightning storm is try to stay indoors. Be sure to avoid water. Stay on low ground, and avoid being in
the open. Also, if you have any trees that touch your house, cut them because if the tree were to be
struck, the electricity would go through your home. Floods start when there has been a heavy rainfall,

Ministry Interview Report
Following and understanding the journeys of the ministers before us is significant in the light of our
own ministry. Each person should look up to a minister in their lives and understand their methods
along with their past and current positions. An interview is one of the best ways to discover these. The
person I interviewed has been my pastor and guide since I was born. He has pastored at Community
Baptist Church, the church I attend, my whole life. He has taught me most of the things I knew
concerning God previous to attending Barclay College. He baptized me when I decided to accept
Jesus as my savior at seventeen years old and helped keep me with Christ throughout the years. This
man s name is Richard Bishop, informally known as Pastor Rick. I inquired of him the answers to four
questions; How long have you been a pastor, and is Community Baptist Church the only one you ve

Abolition Of The Death Penalty
Abolition of the Death Penalty
Capital Punishment, otherwise known as the death penalty, first dates back to the English Colonies in
the 1600s. The people of this time adopted this tradition to punish people who had committed crimes
of murder, treason, theft, robbery, rape, or other horrible offenses. In 1776, people already began to
see the inefficiency of the death penalty. Benjamin Rush, a physician and signer of the Declaration of
Independence, stated that the punishment of murder by death is contrary to reason and to the order and
happiness of society. Rush believed that the death penalty should only be a product of England, and
that America should not condone premeditated killing by the government, but rather leave that
practice in England.
In 1794, the state of Pennsylvania began to promote the idea of restricting capital punishment. Soon
after, other states followed Pennsylvania s lead and either reduced the number of capital crimes or got
rid of capital punishment all together. By 1846, the state of Michigan was the first state in the United
States to outlaw the death penalty. After Michigan s implementation of the new law, other northern
states, such as Rhode Island and Wisconsin, outlawed it as well. However, states in the South kept the
death Penalty for a variety of reasons. One of the most important reasons it was kept in the South was
because of the high crime rate and slavery. At times when states would get rid of the death penalty,

Hinduism Paper
HUMANITIES 130
Hinduism is a diverse body of religion, philosophy, and cultural practice native to and predominant in
India, characterized by a belief in reincarnation and a supreme being of many forms and natures, by
the view that opposing theories are aspects of one eternal truth, and by a desire for liberation from
earthly evils (GodWeb, n.d.). In this paper I will further explore what the Hindu religion is
encompassed of. And delve into what makes the religion of Hinduism vital to the region it is

In Hinduism the soul is immortal while the body is subject to birth and death. Samsara is considered to
be a state of wandering and is caused due to being ignorant of one s true purpose. This idea is directly
linked to karma which means action, and also the consequences of the action. It is said that every
action has a reaction and it is believed in the religion of Hinduism that it determines your next
incarnation, which is basically being reborn. When the cycle of rebirth comes to an end, a person is
said to have attained liberation which is moksha. In other words karma is the results you bring upon
yourself, good or bad, based on your actions. And also reincarnation which is the belief that the soul,
upon death, comes back to earth in another body or form which gives the soul the chance to resolve all
bad karma that it puts out so the soul can eventually be free and gain liberation from the cycle of
rebirth. In this paper the religion of Hinduism has been further explored. The societal and cultural
influences that have made it vital to the region where it originated have also been touched upon. I have
gained major insight into the Hindu religion form this experience. Before this class I never knew that
karma and reincarnation were a part of the Hindu religion. And I never thought I would have anything

The development of gangs in the course of the last two decades has been accompanied by the
development and progression of specialized law enforcement responses to gangs. The nature, features

strategy is based on deterrence theory. The purpose of the deterrence is keep a possible offender from

Energy Vehicles And Electric Vehicles
Consumers are constantly surrounded by advertisements and these advertisements play a significant
role in affecting people s daily decision making. Automobiles continue to be one of the fastest
growing industries, especially in the United States; therefore, advertisements are crucial and are
constantly changing to meet the requirements and needs of the consumers. In order to target the
desired consumers and market effectively, the advertising techniques need to be different from
traditional gasoline vehicles because the consumers must be able to compare the types of vehicles out
in the market and find the type that best suits their demand. In this case, consumers are contemplating
between traditional gasoline vehicles and electric vehicles (EV). There are three ways of advertising
that carefully examine how each type of vehicle can satisfy the specific demands of their potential
customers; therefore, automobile companies must compete endlessly to come up with advertisements
that target consumers right at the heart focusing on manufactures ethics, consumers psychology, and
trends. Electric vehicles advertisements target consumers demands by including some of the
advantages of EV in the advertisements. These advantages include wordings like zero emission and
driving the future. The specific wordings are able to imprint positive qualities of EV into consumers
minds. It puts EV in a better position than traditional vehicles as it takes advantages by using words

Causes And Symptoms Of Meningitis
Introduction/Background/History: Meningitis is caused by an inflammation surrounding your spinal
cord and brain. The inflammation is usually caused by fluid surrounding your brain and spinal cord. It
mostly occurs in children, teens, and young adults. Meningitis also affects older adults who have a
weaker immune system and people in general who have illnesses that leads to a weak immune system.
This is a serious illness but most of the time if the symptoms are diagnosed properly and treated
correctly you may make a speedy recovery. There are many different types of meningitis such as
fungal, bacterial, viral, parasitic, and non infectious. The most common types of meningitis are viral
and bacterial meningitis. Viral meningitis is caused by viral infections in the layers of tissues that
covers the meninges. The symptoms of viral meningitis usually are headaches, muscle aches, stiff
neck, and the general feeling of being sick. Bacterial meningitis is caused by bacteria in the
environment that enters the bloodstream and eventually travels to the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms
of bacterial meningitis includes high fever, headaches, confusion, increased drowsiness and stiffness
in neck. If bacterial meningitis is serious and life threating you may have seizures and strokes.
Reading/Writing: Majority of the time meningitis is life threating if left untreated. So early treatment
can help prevent serious problems including death. Vaccines can prevent some cases of bacterial

Contemporary Ethical Issues In Utilitarianism
There are many contemporary ethical problems that societies face without having a solid response.
Most of these problems come from the conflict caused by the different ways these problems can be
interpreted. There are also many ethical theories that defend the different views to such problems.
Among these theories we can mention Virtue Ethics, Utilitarianism, Kantianism, etc. I think there is
one of these theories that is very interesting in nature: Utilitarianism. In this work I will be giving a
brief explanation of Utilitarianism, as well as discussing the character of consequentialist or not
consequentialist of this ethical theory. Also, I will analyze each of the contemporary issues studied in
this unit based on Utilitarianism, as well as mentioning anecdotes that pertain to such conflicts.
Like other forms of consequentialism, utilitarianism s core idea is that whether actions are morally
right or wrong depends on their effects (). Utilitarianism is a moral principle that holds that the
morally right course of action in any situation is the one that produces the greatest balance of benefits
over harms for everyone affected (). The only problem I see with this ethical theory is that an action
that could be generally considered unethical can be the one that produces the most value for the
greatest amount of people; therefore, that unethical action will be an ethical action under the utilitarian
view. A concrete example of the idea just mentioned can be easily found with

Summary Of The Night Sky
It was late, the moon already high in the night sky, all except for George lie sleeping softly in the
bunkhouse. An unfinished game of solitaire, sprawled out across the barn floor. The barn was lit only
by a single red candle on an overturned crate. Next to the candle was an opened red pack of cigarettes
and a dirty brass lighter. Fresh hay was scattered around the cold floor, a job unfinished. In the corner
of the shadowed barn, a spider clung to its web as it slowly devoured a helpless fly. Curley s wife lay
still, untouched, the sight almost had a natural feeling about it, as though this was all her life was ever
to amount to, she lay dead amongst the hay; it was as thought the others had forgotten about her and
merely continued with their dreary lives. A rusted shovel leaned against the wall, next to a freshly dug
mound of earth, covering Candy s lifeless dog. Lastly, spread across the floor, was a ragged length of
cold consuming rope, with a noose tied in one frayed end. George crouched before the rope, hunched
over almost questioningly, as though judging whether or not this was his best way out of the situation.
He was dirty and unshaven; he had yet not bothered to change from his gloomy, threadbare work
attire. His hair was greasy and unkempt, his facial hair was long and neglected and his face looked
like it had not seen water for many days. His eyes seemed to have sunken in to his head, for they were
carrying heavy bags, he resembled a man who had not slept for

Knee Injuries Are Extremely Common
Knee related injuries are extremely common, especially in sports. With various sports programs
increasing in schools, the amount of reported knee injuries has also increased. One of the most
common knee injuries is an anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL. The ACL injury is mostly common in
sports that deal with jumping, running, and landing movements such as soccer (the most common),
basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, and many more. It was found in a study done on the prevention and
rehabilitation of pediatric anterior cruciate ligament injuries that about 6.3% of ACL injuries are
reported between the ages of 5 to 12 years old, and about 10.6% are reported within the ages 13 to 17

METHODS
For this study one of the top high school Varsity and Jr varsity division in Gwinnett County is used.
The teams have a total of 30 students between the ages of 12 19 years old. Only the top ten students
from each team were selected. Legal consent from the school board, the coaches, the students
parents/legal guardian, and the students must be obtained prior to starting the study. This study will
last for eight weeks with four meetings a week prior to the start of the normal practice season. Each
session will last two hours and a screening done by a sports physician and a certified strength and
conditioning coach will take place in other to determine who is eligible to participate eligibility.
Exclusions are made if a player has had an injury or a surgery involving either leg prior the study. The
top ten picks are then divided randomly in two groups, group A and group B, with five participants in
each. Their age, height, and body mass are collected in a data sheet created on excel. Participants are
required to be present for all warmups and training sessions in order to participate in the study. Each
group has to have 10 minutes of standardized neuromuscular warm up, with 5 minutes of submaximal
running followed by a dynamic stretch routine consisting of functional exercises:

Swot Analysis Of Penney. Penney
Analysis of the J.C. Penney Case Analysis The first store of J.C. Penney Company was opened in
Kemmerer, Wyoming, on April 14, 1902, by James Cash Penney. In 1913, the company was
incorporated under the new name, JC Penney Company. JC Penney is one of the largest veteran retail
chain in American which has 110 year old. The highest sales at all time was $32.5 billion and the
company occupies a large share of market in department stores. Then the market changed, the shopper
has spent less time at the mall and more time at the discount store, like Walmart and Target. At the
beginning, JC Penny did not find this problem, since 2005, the sales had been decreased, they loosed a
lot of money. Then JC Penny hired a new CEO, Ron Johnson, discovered this problem and did some
change. The new CEO had made a new strategic plan, and a major price based campaign to revamp JC
Penney s image. In the end, the new strategic plan was not working, it cannot help JC Penney keep the
customer. In this case, we should discuss the JC Penny s new strategic plan, based on price change and
change the company s traditional operation. For the first question, of the major pricing strategies,
which one best describes JC Penney s Fair and Square pricing strategy? The revival of the JC Penney
is the key to a new Fair and Square pricing strategy. At the first, the company cut about 40 percent
across all regular retail prices, and then they make a three tiered pricing

Four Categories Of Love
George Sand claimed that, there is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved. Humans as a
species crave interaction and have a longing for love. Love a person feels can be the driving force for
their actions, causing people to commit inappropriate actions and have unthinkable thoughts.
However, it can also cause eternal happiness and happy endings. At a philosophic standpoint there are
four different categories for love: Philia, Storge, Agape, and Eros. Philia is often translated to mean
brotherly love or friendship. This can be the love a person feels for their friends, neighbors, co
workers, and the people in their lives below their family. When people consider others to be friends it
is often because they have shared interest or hobbies. Friends are people that a person can confide
with and feel safe with. A person wants to have this feeling with someone and because of that this type
of love can drive a person to actions they would not normally do. It is because of the connection they
feel towards that person and the closeness they feel. It might be a shared event or story. Banana
Yoshimoto wrote a novel titled, Kitchen, that involves a man and woman falling in love after a shared
experience. When Yuichi s classmate came to confront Mikage about her relationship with Yuichi she
claimed that, But love is not a joke, it also means sharing someone else s pain (Yoshimoto 72). What
the troubled, jealous girl was saying is that loving someone involves sharing connections with a
person. In this case Mikage and Yuichi shared the pain of the lose of two loved ones. Together they
were able to feel each other s pain which caused their love to grow closer as the connections
deepened. Yoshimoto continued the book by adding a second part to the novel that was a story all on
its own. In this part of the story a young woman loses the love of her life, Hitoshi. She fell into despair
and pain. At the same time as she was struggling with the lose of her best friend, another young man
was losing the love of his life. Together they created ritual to honor their loved ones without knowing
the other existed. When they eventually met they made the connection of death. Together they were

The Mormon Myth
The Mormon faith otherwise known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was founded
in the early 19th century in upstate New York. The mormon prophet and founder Joseph Smith found
golden plates that introduced a previously unknown third section of the bible. However, Mormonism
receives a heavy amount of criticism due to the fact that Smith told his disciples that only he could see
the plates, consequently, there is no proof of the plates existence. The religion itself is founded upon
the experiential aspect of religion. The founder of the religion, Joseph Smith, was visited by an angel

Franklin D Roosevelt Argumentative Essay
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the United States and ended up serving 12 years

His mother was extremely protective of her only child, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt received no

Hannah Arendt on the Banality of Evil
Hannah Arendt is a German Jewish philosopher, born in 1906 and died in 1975. She studied
philosophy with Martin Heidegger as Professor. Her works deal with the nature of power and political
subjects such as democracy, authority, and totalitarianism. She flew away to France in 1933, when
Adolf Hitler became Chancellor in Germany. She flew away from Europe to the United States after
escaping from the concentration camp of Gurs. She became a Professor in New York city, in which
she became an active member of the German Jewish community. In 1963, she was sent to Jerusalem to

This complete absence of thinking is what attracted the philosopher s interest and that is how she
started to question the problem of the eventual inner connection between the ability or inability to
think and the problem of evil. Hannah Arendt elaborated on the notion of banality of evil through the
case of Eichmann. She argues in Eichmann in Jerusalem that Eichmann, far from being a monster, was
nothing less than a thoughtless bureaucrat, passionate only in his desire to please his superiors. She
describes him in these words: the unthinking functionary capable of enormous evil who revealed the
dark potential of modern bureaucratic men . According to Hannah Arendt, evil would not come from
wicked individuals, but from the nobodies , from those who do not have the ability to think, and thus
cannot tell what is wrong and what is right. As she was influenced by the sociologist Max Weber, who
wrote concerning bureaucracies that It is horrible to think that the world could one day be filled with
nothing but those little cogs, little men clinging to their jobs and striving towards bigger ones , she
elaborates on the danger of bureaucracy and its possible responsibility when it comes to evil.
Bureaucracies assign very specific tasks to each individual and these specific tasks cannot be seen as
right or wrong by the ones accomplishing them, it is when they are all together that they can be
examined this way. Eichmann was simply obeying the rules,

Acid-Base Titration Lab
Abstract
By using acid base titration, we determined the suitability of phenolphthalein and methyl red as acid
base indicators. We found that the equivalence point of the titration of hydrochloric acid with sodium
hydroxide was not within the ph range of phenolphthalein s color range. The titration of acetic acid
with sodium hydroxide resulted in an equivalence point out of the range of methyl red. And the
titration of ammonia with hydrochloric acid had an equivalence point that was also out of the range of
phenolphthalein.. The methyl red indicator and the phenolphthalein indicator were unsuitable because
their pH ranges for their color changes did not cover the equivalence points of the trials in which they
were used. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Collective Bargaining And Negotiation Process
Almost everyone employed by a school district may participate in a collective bargaining unit or an
organized group of job positions represented by an association. The association then participates in a
joint decision making process, involving direct negotiations to determine wages, hours of work or
other terms and conditions of employment for all employees in that unit. The collective bargaining
process between a board of education and any association of united teachers, service personnel or
administrators can have a wide range of effects for everyone involved in that district and community,
especially the students. The regional school district being utilized for this review is that of a large
regional school district, serving about 7,000 students in grades 9 through 12, in the largest county in
the state. It is an affluent community of parents and community members from eight municipalities
who recognize the value of education and actively support the schools. Historically, teachers, parents
and administrators within the district have enjoyed a good, working relationship. As a result of this
ongoing positive relationship, the collective bargaining and negotiation processes between the four
associations in the district are relatively downplayed and quiet. Several associations negotiate
collective bargaining agreements with the regional the local teacher s education association, public

Abolish The Penny Essay
Getting rid of the Penny is a good idea
Should we abolish the penny? , is a question that a lot of people have ask. I think that we should
abolish the penny, because it is costing the US more to make the penny than it is even worth. Every
year the U.S. Treasury produces 12 to 14 billion pennies at a cost of $90 million. If we abolished the
penny, instead of paying $39.99, we could round it up to $40.00, or round it down to the nearest
nickel, and make it $39.95.
The penny is not worth as much as it used to be. In the 1940 s, a penny would get you to pieces of
candy, but today you cannot buy anything with a single penny. These days, people don t even take
their time to bend down and pick up a penny that is laying on the side walk. In the story we read, the
dad offered his shoe box full of pennies to his eight year old son, to wrap up in rolls of 50, but his son
told him Thanks, dad, but it isn t worth it. If its not worth the time an 8 year olds to wrap pennies, and
put them in the bank, then why is US Government keep making them. ... Show more content on

Last Night I Dreamed of Peace is a Diary Composed by...
Last Night I Dreamed of Peace is a diary composed by Doctor Dang Thuy Trâm who served as a
battlefield medic during the Vietnam War. Dang Thuy Trâm was twenty four when she volunteered to
serve as a doctor in a makeshift clinic for the National Liberation Front (the Viet Cong) in Quang Ngai
Province. Last Night I Dreamed of Peace is the diary Trâm kept of her experiences while serving in
the field. Her diary covers the period of April 1968 until her death by American soldiers in June 1970.
Dang Thuy Trâm s diary demonstrates how the enemy is human yet what she is fighting for is far
more substantial than what the American s fight for. Trâm s diary is much more than the story of one
young woman on the battlefield. Last Night I Dreamed of Peace provides an insight into Vietnamese
life during the war as well as the motivations of the Vietnamese people.
If Philip Caputo s memoir is meant to be the story of an American soldier, Trâm s diary becomes the
story of the Vietnamese people and their struggle. On May 7th 1970 Trâm recounts her feelings on the
history of war in Vietnam, and how the people still remain undeterred. Twenty five years immersed in
fire and bullets, we are still strong. Not only after all this fighting and after all that Trâm herself has
witnessed and endured she is still confident in her country. We will persevere and be courageous and
hold our heads high and take the offensive. Trâm s diary makes it clear that there was never any doubt

Government Classifying Marijuana
One of the ways the government fits into how we classify using concepts is by altering our perception
and in the process effecting the way we classify things and people. The government often does this
through the laws and regulations that they create. High standing government officials that garner a
great deal of respect may also alter our perceptions through speeches that they make. Sometimes the
government and officials are trying to alter our perceptions in an attempt to make us classify things the
way that they do, while other times our altered perceptions are an unintended consequence. Whether
the altering of our perceptions is intentional or not it can and does affect the way that we classify
things and people. The differences in the way people classify marijuana is a very good example of
how the government laws and our own experiences effect our perceiving lenses and therefore the way
we classify concepts. In this case the federal government has already attempted to classify marijuana
and other controlled substances by grouping them together with other drugs that they believe have
similarities. They list ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We simply accept what we are told and look no further. Those of us that believe that the governments
classification is wrong have probably experienced one or more things that have caused us to see the

It is possible that we have used marijuana recreationally or know someone who has and have not
noted any major side effects. Someone else may have read studies that indicate that marijuana is not
addictive and is not really that bad for us. It is also possible that we have reason to disagree with the

Timely Treatment Of Post Conflict Liberia
The Timely Treatment of Post Conflict Liberia
Following the end of Liberia s civil war (which was borne out of the relationship of the US and
Samuel Doe, the Liberian people elected a government in a free and fair democratic elections), the
country was in need of the US and other world powers to help stimulate the country s economy and
help rebuild its damaged infrastructure. However, the US basically walked away from Liberia at the
opportune moment leaving Liberia to its own devices and also at the mercy of the Supreme Being to
perform some sort of miracle to rebuild this nation that was once very important to the US during the
Cold War.
Focusing on Liberia s Leaders instead of its People
In concurrence with these two points (Making Common Causes with One Evil Doer in Order to
Defeat a Greater Evil Doer and The Timely Treatment of Post Conflict Liberia) the US has often
developed its foreign policy relative to the leader of a country, rather than the citizenry. Below are the

Teenage pregnancy has been viewed as an issue for many years, not only for teenage mothers but for
babies as well. Much importance has been placed on this subject for the reason that although these
rates are declining, they remain elevated. The United States represents over 600,000 American teen
pregnancies every year, making this the highest rate in the industrialized world (Steinberg, 2017).
Unfortunately, ethnic minorities in the United States have a predisposition to the many social,
educational and economic disadvantages that in fact shape adolescent sexual behavior and lead to the
decision of adolescent motherhood. This paper will illustrate teenage pregnancy rates over the last few
years, the factors that impact teen pregnancy, contraception and the likelihood of teen pregnancies
across different ethnic groups. Over the years, the rate of adolescent pregnancy in the United States
has been declining by nearly 40% since the 1990 s. (Brown, 2016) Adolescent pregnancy rates have
decreased across the nation for adolescents belonging to any racial and ethnic group. (Brown, 2016) It
seems that adolescents are making smarter decisions considering that there is 77% decline in
pregnancy risk. Adolescent pregnancy risk is positively correlated with greater use of condoms by
58% and birth control methods by 39%.

Strength Of Tensile Strength
2.1.8.4. Tensile strength:
Lightweight and normal weight concretes have similar tensile strengths, though lightweight exhibits
greater variability. The tensile strength of normal weight concrete of equal compressive strength may
vary within a wide range depending, among other parameters, on the shape and surface texture of the
aggregate. Experimental tests indicate that the tensile strength of concrete is highly variable and
ranges from a bout 8 12% of its compressive strength. The actual value depends on the type of the test
and crack propagation pattern at failure. (Ghoneim and El Mihlmy, 2008)
(Fabian, 2010), the tensile strength of concrete is important when considering cracking. For specimens
loaded under uniaxial compression, cracking parallel to the line of action of the load implies some
influence of the tensile strength of the specimens units. Depending on the load impact, tensile strength
can be divided into flexural tensile strength, splitting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did Audrey Hepburn Impact On Society
Ashley Le Coach Fox English III 6 1 March 2015 Audrey Hepburn Conformity was a huge aspect of
the 1950s, and the popularized look during this time was set by Marilyn Monroe. Audrey Hepburn,
however, set an easier standard look for the women to be able to achieve. With little to no experience,
Hepburn has made an impact to the entertainment world even though it was her intention to be an
actress. Audrey Hepburn deserves to have a commemorative postage stamp as a result, she has
entertained and captured the hearts of the entire movie going world. Audrey Hepburn entered the
entertainment world without the intention of entering. She wanted to be a ballerina but ended up as a
world renowned actress. Despite the little acting experience, Hepburn flourished and was never boring
to watch. She would act with raw emotions and passion which was how she made such an impact on
the entertainment world. This also was the cause of her, at the age of 24, winning an Oscar for best
actress. She was also awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award by the Academy of Motion ...

Hepburn raised awareness to the needy children of the world by traveling and volunteering. Instead of
hosting some charity balls, she actually went out to help rather than getting someone to do it for her.
She began traveling on behalf of the United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF), speaking for the
needy children and drawing attention to the families wrecked by war, famine, and disease. In 1992,
Hepburn traveled to Somalia to spread awareness to the problems that would evidently kill thousands.
Seeing all of these remarkable actions that Hepburn has done, President George H. Bush gave her the
Presidential Medal of Freedom. By earning all these awards and by being recognized by some as
important as the president, Hepburn has proven to be an inspiring role model for others to look up

I Had Never Spent Much Time Evaluating My Values System...
I had never spent much time evaluating my values system before taking on this assignment. I believed
that I was wired to think the way I do, and that nothing in particular had to be the cause for my
feelings on certain things. By writing this paper and learning about values, I was able to take a hard
look at myself and figure out what my personal values stem from. My values relating to the key issues
of women s reproduction, poverty/money, health care in America, and minority groups have
blossomed out of personal experiences and experiences I have heard about from those close to me. I
also found several themes that underlie why I have the values that I do, and why I think about these
topics in the way that I do. Women s reproduction is the most important of the topics to me, because
when it comes to women s reproduction I look at the subject from two points of view. The first point
of view I see is the main reason the topic is discussed, which is the sexual/reproductive side. The other
point I see is my own personal experience, which has nothing to do with reproduction but concerns
health. My core values relative to this area are dignity and worth of a person and social justice. I chose
these two because I think every woman should be able to access forms of birth control and abortion
without being criticized. Not being able to do that, in my view, is discrimination. I think the woman
who is choosing these actions is of enough worth to be able to make the right decision for

Attrition From Higher Education Institution
1. INTRODUCTION
Attrition from Higher Education Institution (HEI) programmes is worryingly on the increase (Russell
Group 2010). However, students that drop out of pre registration nursing programmes are of particular
concern, not only to the HEI but the Government and the NHS also due to the requirement to meet the
needs of the NHS recruitment and demands of an increasingly ageing society that relies on qualified
nurses (DOH 2007). Indeed the type of funding that student nurses receive and the amount of money
that is invested by Strategic Health Authorities (SHA) and Government in them suggests that attrition
is a costly problem (DOH 2009).
It is difficult to gather specific statistical data regarding attrition rates as ... Show more content on

A more recent report produced by the Department of Health states that the attrition rate from pre
registration nursing programmes stands at 16% (DOH 2010). This statistic differs greatly from the
national average of 27% reported direct to the RCN by the HEIs. The United Kingdom figures do
generally appear favourable however compared to countries such as Italy (65%) and the USA (37%)
(International Audit office, 2007).
Statistics produced by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (2011) highlight that the percentage
drop out rate for students on all types of Degree level programmes is relatively low at approximately
10% whereas for those studying the Diploma level programme the drop out rate increases to 17%.
Therefore the statistics identified for attrition from pre registration nursing programmes are higher that
the average attrition rate of all other Degree and Diploma programmes.
A higher completion rate among pre registration nurses will enhance the NHS workforce of qualified
nurses and will help towards the Department of Health Our Health, Our Care, Our Say (DOH 2006a)
goal to ensure individual excellence of care for all. Higher retention of students would also aide the
HEIs involved in the education of pre registration nursing as SHA and Government targets will be met
and financial penalties

The turnover of key employees will mean loss in productivity, loss of customers, damaged morale,
damaged organization image, destabilized business and incurring costs associated with separation,
hiring and training, all which will affect the organization s overall performance. Powerful leaders
know that the success of their company is built on the quality of their people (Cheryl Cran,
http://www.cherylcran.com/). Thus retaining top or key performers is critical to the long term health
and success of the business. To counter turnover and its resulting effects, concerted action is required
to retain talented people. Organizations must therefore work on their employee value proposition. An
organization s employee value proposition consists of what an organization has to offer that
prospective or existing employees would value and which would help to persuade them to join or
remain with the business (Armstrong 2009). It will include remuneration which is important but can
be over emphasized compared with other elements that are non financial in nature. These non financial
factors may be crucial in attracting and retaining people and include the attractiveness of the
organization, the degree to which it acts responsibly, respect diversity and inclusion, work life balance
and opportunities for personal and professional growth. The aim is to become an employer of choice, a
firm people want to work and stay with. The study will analyse the effects of some of the

  • 2. Circuit Of Logisim That Controls An Entry Gate CS25410 Assignment Report The task was to implement a circuit in logisim that controls an entry gate. The gate has 3 possible inputs; a £1 coin paid in, a £2 coin paid in or the cancel button pressed. The gate must store the amount of money paid in and has four possible behaviours for outputs. Once the gate has received £4 it must open, in terms of implementation a LED must light up and stay lit until another input is received, any extra money in the machine must count towards the next entry fee. The other behaviours are based off when the cancel button is pressed, a LED relating to the amount of money paid into the machine towards an entry fee e.g. a £1 LED if £1 is in memory etc. up to the maximum of £3, In the circuit these LED s must stay on until the next input. The general structure of my implementation can be split up into three segments; Input, storage, and output. In the input section there are 2 bits of memory to temporarily store the 3 different inputs, 01 representing £1, 10 representing £2 and 11 representing cancel pressed. This memory is cleared once it has been clocked into the main storage of the system. The storage is implemented with 3 bits of memory as there are 6 possible states for the memory, £0 to £5, the 1 and 2 bit are only affected once an input has been clocked in however the 4 bit is only affected by the carry bit of the 2 bit memory and is cleared as soon as an input button has been pressed as this was part of the assignment specification. ... • 3. How Far Does the Disaster of 1898 Account for the Growth... How far does the disaster of 1898 account for the growth of Catalan and Basque nationalism? The humiliating defeat of Spain to America during the Spanish American War of 1898 dealt a catastrophic blow to the Spanish nation. In the subsequent Treaty of Paris signed on December 10th 1898, Spain relinquished its remaining colonial territories in the Caribbean and the Pacific. The disaster evoked heavy criticism of the Restoration government and its inherent corruption amongst many groups within Spanish society and served as a catalyst for the emergence of new political forces seeking to contest against the ruling oligarchy, most notably Catalan and Basque nationalism. As such, Catalonian regionalist demands tended to assume a subordinate position in relation to the greater demands of Spain and its profitable empire. However, the crisis of 1898 engendered the breaking down of Catalan acquiescence with the Restoration system. The loss of Spain s colonial territories brought with it the loss of colonial markets that had existed as prime export outlets for Catalan industry. In the last decade of the nineteenth century Spanish exports to its colonies had more than doubled from 146.1 million pesatas in 1891 to 365.4 million in 1897, with the value of Catalonian produce to the colonies reaching a peak of 124 million pesatas in 1895. For the region s major textile industry, the markets of Cuba and Puerto Rico accounted for one fifth of the entire output of its cotton mills. In surrendering control, by 1902 the territories of Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines now received just 6.2% of Catalan textile produce, a decline from 22% in 1896. Within Catalonia, a feeling that defeat had been caused by years of faulty centralism by a corrupt administration ended any trust Catalan business had placed in the Restoration system to protect its interests. In the spirit of the Regeneracionismo movement, Catalan business interests represented by organisations such as the Fomento del Trabajo proposed a number of reforms designed to regenerate the region in order to compensate for the loss of its vital export outlets. Hangzhou back then was a wealthy trading city and the Song rulers retained their domain south of the Huai River along with most of the population at that time. • 16. Abolition Of The Death Penalty Abolition of the Death Penalty Capital Punishment, otherwise known as the death penalty, first dates back to the English Colonies in the 1600s. The people of this time adopted this tradition to punish people who had committed crimes of murder, treason, theft, robbery, rape, or other horrible offenses. In 1776, people already began to see the inefficiency of the death penalty. Benjamin Rush, a physician and signer of the Declaration of Independence, stated that the punishment of murder by death is contrary to reason and to the order and happiness of society. Rush believed that the death penalty should only be a product of England, and that America should not condone premeditated killing by the government, but rather leave that practice in England. In 1794, the state of Pennsylvania began to promote the idea of restricting capital punishment. Soon after, other states followed Pennsylvania s lead and either reduced the number of capital crimes or got rid of capital punishment all together. By 1846, the state of Michigan was the first state in the United States to outlaw the death penalty. After Michigan s implementation of the new law, other northern states, such as Rhode Island and Wisconsin, outlawed it as well. However, states in the South kept the death Penalty for a variety of reasons. One of the most important reasons it was kept in the South was because of the high crime rate and slavery. Automobiles continue to be one of the fastest growing industries, especially in the United States; therefore, advertisements are crucial and are constantly changing to meet the requirements and needs of the consumers. In order to target the desired consumers and market effectively, the advertising techniques need to be different from traditional gasoline vehicles because the consumers must be able to compare the types of vehicles out in the market and find the type that best suits their demand. In this case, consumers are contemplating between traditional gasoline vehicles and electric vehicles (EV). There are three ways of advertising that carefully examine how each type of vehicle can satisfy the specific demands of their potential customers; therefore, automobile companies must compete endlessly to come up with advertisements that target consumers right at the heart focusing on manufactures ethics, consumers psychology, and trends. Electric vehicles advertisements target consumers demands by including some of the advantages of EV in the advertisements. These advantages include wordings like zero emission and driving the future. The specific wordings are able to imprint positive qualities of EV into consumers minds. It puts EV in a better position than traditional vehicles as it takes advantages by using words that ... • 24. Contemporary Ethical Issues In Utilitarianism There are many contemporary ethical problems that societies face without having a solid response. Most of these problems come from the conflict caused by the different ways these problems can be interpreted. There are also many ethical theories that defend the different views to such problems. Among these theories we can mention Virtue Ethics, Utilitarianism, Kantianism, etc. I think there is one of these theories that is very interesting in nature: Utilitarianism. In this work I will be giving a brief explanation of Utilitarianism, as well as discussing the character of consequentialist or not consequentialist of this ethical theory. Also, I will analyze each of the contemporary issues studied in this unit based on Utilitarianism, as well as mentioning anecdotes that pertain to such conflicts. Like other forms of consequentialism, utilitarianism s core idea is that whether actions are morally right or wrong depends on their effects (). Utilitarianism is a moral principle that holds that the morally right course of action in any situation is the one that produces the greatest balance of benefits over harms for everyone affected (). The only problem I see with this ethical theory is that an action that could be generally considered unethical can be the one that produces the most value for the greatest amount of people; therefore, that unethical action will be an ethical action under the utilitarian view. A concrete example of the idea just mentioned can be easily found with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An unfinished game of solitaire, sprawled out across the barn floor. The barn was lit only by a single red candle on an overturned crate. Next to the candle was an opened red pack of cigarettes and a dirty brass lighter. Fresh hay was scattered around the cold floor, a job unfinished. In the corner of the shadowed barn, a spider clung to its web as it slowly devoured a helpless fly. Curley s wife lay still, untouched, the sight almost had a natural feeling about it, as though this was all her life was ever to amount to, she lay dead amongst the hay; it was as thought the others had forgotten about her and merely continued with their dreary lives. A rusted shovel leaned against the wall, next to a freshly dug mound of earth, covering Candy s lifeless dog. Lastly, spread across the floor, was a ragged length of cold consuming rope, with a noose tied in one frayed end. George crouched before the rope, hunched over almost questioningly, as though judging whether or not this was his best way out of the situation. He was dirty and unshaven; he had yet not bothered to change from his gloomy, threadbare work attire. • 29. Four Categories Of Love George Sand claimed that, there is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved. Humans as a species crave interaction and have a longing for love. Love a person feels can be the driving force for their actions, causing people to commit inappropriate actions and have unthinkable thoughts. However, it can also cause eternal happiness and happy endings. At a philosophic standpoint there are four different categories for love: Philia, Storge, Agape, and Eros. Philia is often translated to mean brotherly love or friendship. This can be the love a person feels for their friends, neighbors, co workers, and the people in their lives below their family. When people consider others to be friends it is often because they have shared interest or hobbies. Friends are people that a person can confide with and feel safe with. A person wants to have this feeling with someone and because of that this type of love can drive a person to actions they would not normally do. It is because of the connection they feel towards that person and the closeness they feel. It might be a shared event or story. Banana Yoshimoto wrote a novel titled, Kitchen, that involves a man and woman falling in love after a shared experience. When Yuichi s classmate came to confront Mikage about her relationship with Yuichi she claimed that, But love is not a joke, it also means sharing someone else s pain (Yoshimoto 72). What the troubled, jealous girl was saying is that loving someone involves sharing connections with a person. In this case Mikage and Yuichi shared the pain of the lose of two loved ones. Together they were able to feel each other s pain which caused their love to grow closer as the connections deepened. Yoshimoto continued the book by adding a second part to the novel that was a story all on its own. In this part of the story a young woman loses the love of her life, Hitoshi. She fell into despair and pain. At the same time as she was struggling with the lose of her best friend, another young man was losing the love of his life. She argues in Eichmann in Jerusalem that Eichmann, far from being a monster, was nothing less than a thoughtless bureaucrat, passionate only in his desire to please his superiors. She describes him in these words: the unthinking functionary capable of enormous evil who revealed the dark potential of modern bureaucratic men . According to Hannah Arendt, evil would not come from wicked individuals, but from the nobodies , from those who do not have the ability to think, and thus cannot tell what is wrong and what is right. As she was influenced by the sociologist Max Weber, who wrote concerning bureaucracies that It is horrible to think that the world could one day be filled with nothing but those little cogs, little men clinging to their jobs and striving towards bigger ones , she elaborates on the danger of bureaucracy and its possible responsibility when it comes to evil. Government Classifying Marijuana One of the ways the government fits into how we classify using concepts is by altering our perception and in the process effecting the way we classify things and people. The government often does this through the laws and regulations that they create. Sometimes the government and officials are trying to alter our perceptions in an attempt to make us classify things the way that they do, while other times our altered perceptions are an unintended consequence. Whether the altering of our perceptions is intentional or not it can and does affect the way that we classify things and people. The differences in the way people classify marijuana is a very good example of how the government laws and our own experiences effect our perceiving lenses and therefore the way we classify concepts. The United States represents over 600,000 American teen pregnancies every year, making this the highest rate in the industrialized world (Steinberg, 2017). Unfortunately, ethnic minorities in the United States have a predisposition to the many social, educational and economic disadvantages that in fact shape adolescent sexual behavior and lead to the decision of adolescent motherhood. This paper will illustrate teenage pregnancy rates over the last few years, the factors that impact teen pregnancy, contraception and the likelihood of teen pregnancies across different ethnic groups. Over the years, the rate of adolescent pregnancy in the United States has been declining by nearly 40% since the 1990 s. (Brown, 2016) Adolescent pregnancy rates have decreased across the nation for adolescents belonging to any racial and ethnic group. (Brown, 2016) It seems that adolescents are making smarter decisions considering that there is 77% decline in pregnancy risk. Adolescent pregnancy risk is positively correlated with greater use of condoms by 58% and birth control methods by 39%. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Strength Of Tensile Strength 2.1.8.4. Tensile strength: Lightweight and normal weight concretes have similar tensile strengths, though lightweight exhibits greater variability. The tensile strength of normal weight concrete of equal compressive strength may vary within a wide range depending, among other parameters, on the shape and surface texture of the aggregate. Experimental tests indicate that the tensile strength of concrete is highly variable and ranges from a bout 8 12% of its compressive strength. The actual value depends on the type of the test and crack propagation pattern at failure. (Ghoneim and El Mihlmy, 2008) (Fabian, 2010), the tensile strength of concrete is important when considering cracking. For specimens loaded under uniaxial compression, cracking parallel to the line of action of the load implies some influence of the tensile strength of the specimens units. Depending on the load impact, tensile strength can be divided into flexural tensile strength, splitting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How Did Audrey Hepburn Impact On Society Ashley Le Coach Fox English III 6 1 March 2015 Audrey Hepburn Conformity was a huge aspect of the 1950s, and the popularized look during this time was set by Marilyn Monroe. Audrey Hepburn, however, set an easier standard look for the women to be able to achieve. With little to no experience, Hepburn has made an impact to the entertainment world even though it was her intention to be an actress. Audrey Hepburn deserves to have a commemorative postage stamp as a result, she has entertained and captured the hearts of the entire movie going world. Audrey Hepburn entered the entertainment world without the intention of entering. She wanted to be a ballerina but ended up as a world renowned actress. Despite the little acting experience, Hepburn flourished and was never boring to watch. She would act with raw emotions and passion which was how she made such an impact on the entertainment world. This also was the cause of her, at the age of 24, winning an Oscar for best actress. She was also awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award by the Academy of Motion ... In 1992, Hepburn traveled to Somalia to spread awareness to the problems that would evidently kill thousands. Seeing all of these remarkable actions that Hepburn has done, President George H. • 48. I Had Never Spent Much Time Evaluating My Values System... I had never spent much time evaluating my values system before taking on this assignment. I believed that I was wired to think the way I do, and that nothing in particular had to be the cause for my feelings on certain things. By writing this paper and learning about values, I was able to take a hard look at myself and figure out what my personal values stem from. My values relating to the key issues of women s reproduction, poverty/money, health care in America, and minority groups have blossomed out of personal experiences and experiences I have heard about from those close to me. I also found several themes that underlie why I have the values that I do, and why I think about these topics in the way that I do. Women s reproduction is the most important of the topics to me, because when it comes to women s reproduction I look at the subject from two points of view. The first point of view I see is the main reason the topic is discussed, which is the sexual/reproductive side. The other point I see is my own personal experience, which has nothing to do with reproduction but concerns health. My core values relative to this area are dignity and worth of a person and social justice. I chose these two because I think every woman should be able to access forms of birth control and abortion without being criticized. Not being able to do that, in my view, is discrimination. I think the woman who is choosing these actions is of enough worth to be able to make the right decision for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Attrition From Higher Education Institution 1. INTRODUCTION Attrition from Higher Education Institution (HEI) programmes is worryingly on the increase (Russell Group 2010). However, students that drop out of pre registration nursing programmes are of particular concern, not only to the HEI but the Government and the NHS also due to the requirement to meet the needs of the NHS recruitment and demands of an increasingly ageing society that relies on qualified nurses (DOH 2007). Indeed the type of funding that student nurses receive and the amount of money that is invested by Strategic Health Authorities (SHA) and Government in them suggests that attrition is a costly problem (DOH 2009). It is difficult to gather specific statistical data regarding attrition rates as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A more recent report produced by the Department of Health states that the attrition rate from pre registration nursing programmes stands at 16% (DOH 2010). This statistic differs greatly from the national average of 27% reported direct to the RCN by the HEIs. The United Kingdom figures do generally appear favourable however compared to countries such as Italy (65%) and the USA (37%) (International Audit office, 2007). Statistics produced by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (2011) highlight that the percentage drop out rate for students on all types of Degree level programmes is relatively low at approximately 10% whereas for those studying the Diploma level programme the drop out rate increases to 17%. Therefore the statistics identified for attrition from pre registration nursing programmes are higher that the average attrition rate of all other Degree and Diploma programmes. A higher completion rate among pre registration nurses will enhance the NHS workforce of qualified nurses and will help towards the Department of Health Our Health, Our Care, Our Say (DOH 2006a) goal to ensure individual excellence of care for all. Higher retention of students would also aide the HEIs involved in the education of pre registration nursing as SHA and Government targets will be met and financial penalties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The turnover of key employees will mean loss in productivity, loss of customers, damaged morale, damaged organization image, destabilized business and incurring costs associated with separation, hiring and training, all which will affect the organization s overall performance. Powerful leaders know that the success of their company is built on the quality of their people (Cheryl Cran, http://www.cherylcran.com/). Thus retaining top or key performers is critical to the long term health and success of the business. To counter turnover and its resulting effects, concerted action is required to retain talented people. Organizations must therefore work on their employee value proposition. An organization s employee value proposition consists of what an organization has to offer that prospective or existing employees would value and which would help to persuade them to join or remain with the business (Armstrong 2009). It will include remuneration which is important but can be over emphasized compared with other elements that are non financial in nature. These non financial factors may be crucial in attracting and retaining people and include the attractiveness of the organization, the degree to which it acts responsibly, respect diversity and inclusion, work life balance and opportunities for personal and professional growth. The aim is to become an employer of choice, a firm people want to work and stay with. The study will analyse the effects of some of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
