Similarities Between Frederick Douglas And Malcom X
For some education is a foregone conclusion, particularly those who are wealthy and have means to
attend an institution of higher learning. Education is not the sole purview of the wealthy, while having
means provides a lower bar for entry, lack of means does not prevent one from enlightening the self.
Such is the case for both Frederick Douglas and Malcom X, two men who enlightened themselves
without access to the wealth that tethers education to those of the upper class. Hard work and
determination can win the day and bestow a freedom that only an advanced education offers. These
two men are shining examples of what can be accomplished when someone refuses to be denied an
education. This story tells about, Malcolm X and Fredrick Douglas, ... Show more content on

As Malcom X emphasized, Mr. Muhammad, to whom I was writing daily, had no idea of what a new
world had opened up to me through my efforts to document his teachings in books . (444) Becoming a
minister of Muhammad, he fought for African Americans civil rights.
Fredrick Douglass who started life as a slave on Master Hughes plantation was taught to write by his
Mistress in the beginning. As time went on Douglass Master forbade his wife from teaching Douglass
any more lessons. Douglass has often said, My mistress, who had kindly commenced to instruct me,
had, in compliance with advice and direction of her husband, not only ceased to instruct, but had set
her face against my being instructed by anyone else . (403) Douglass was heartbroken as his Mistress
s ceased to teach him and his thirst for knowledge grew. When Douglass first became the Mistress
slave, she treated him with respect, took care of him, and began to teach him the basics of education.
After being told by Master Hughes to stop Douglass s education the Mistress went above and beyond
that order. Where she once would bring them newspapers to read together, she would now not let him
anywhere near a newspaper for fear of her husband s reprisal. Even through all this he still yearned to
learn. In order to finish learning how to read Douglass constructed a plan. He planned to learn to read
by making friends with

San Bernardino Terrorist Attacks Case
Apple vs the Government agency (FBI) in the San Bernardino Terrorist attacks case. Ethics and
Morality are defined as the distinction of right and wrong. On the other hand morals are also largely
based on the social values of good and bad. However, people tend to define them as the standards and
customs that guide the way of life towards good. In most cases of ethics and morality they are
referring to acts of both good and bad deeds. Nonetheless, in a recent case with the FBI vs. the
Government against Apple Inc. Company arose one of the key moral issues in the business world.
Apple refused to offer a backdoor to one of the iPhones considered to be of the terrorists. The ethical
issue involved two genuine values; privacy and security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apple mentioned also in their letter to their customers that they were against terrorism. They
continued to state that as a company they did everything in their power to help the FBI in investigating
this case and catch these criminals. However, Apple did not want to risk its customer s privacy
because it was found that most apple product users store data such as private conversations, photos,
music, notes, calendars and contacts, financial information and health data in their devices. Since
Apple operates their company based on certain values one of them being safeguarding their customer s
data, this prompted decision to deny the FBI the software or backdoor that would ve risked the privacy
of millions of iPhone users. The FBI however is willing to do just about anything to solve a case, one
that especially involves serious criminals investigates. Keeping this in mind you can see why the FBI
refused to think morally in favor of Apple and how this backdoor software would ve tarnished the
reputation and decreased business for this company. However it is concluded both of these parties did
what was ethically right for their independent situations, but as you can see what is ethically right for
one situation is not necessarily right for another

The Best Route For Nuanced And Equitable Access For...
It is almost a conundrum to consider the best route for nuanced and equitable access for information. I
think on some level the words nuanced and equitable contradict each other. These words can be
understood as existing on a continuum. On one end there are the nuanced (i.e. more precise or expert)
classification systems which tend to serve the skilled searcher very well, and the novice searcher very
badly. Unless you are familiar with the controlled vocabulary you are unlikely to find answers. On the
other end of the spectrum there are equitable classification systems which, in the struggle to make the
search easy and possible for all, lose the nuance needed to find what is specifically sought. Search
engines for example, are broad and constrained by very few search rules. The knowledge gained from
a search engine can be found by nearly anyone with basic knowledge. The results returned from many
poorly constructed searches, however, are generic and the number of results can be so broad as to be
meaningless. So which is better? To have an access system so stringent that a layperson will have a
difficult time retrieving results? Or have an access system so open that anyone can retrieve results, but
the results may not be as relevant as they need to be? As usual, the answer lies in finding a happy
medium. I believe the best route for creating access to cultural heritage information, a way to have the
best of both nuance and equity, is to employ a system that has a public

Think back to the time where you spent the summer in the car with the radio on, waiting anxiously for
your favorite song to blast through the speakers. With the popularity of music streaming applications
growing such as, Spotify, or Pandora that really isn t the case anymore. You can simply hook your
phone up to your car radio via bluetooth, or by an auxiliary chord, and listen to your favorite song at
that very moment. Using these apps allows for the listener to choose what they want to hear, lack of
commercials, and convenience. Three aspects that traditional radio do not have, which is why I prefer

doctor are very self loathing and often question whether they re really the good guy. Another trait they
share is that they re not really the likable type. This trait only refers to some of the incarnations of the
doctor and applies most to Rick. Their similarities aside, they also have many differences. Such as
how the doctor reincarnates every couple season, due to him being an alien, and experiencing a

Alliteration In Ozymandias
Ozymandias is believed to be more powerful than the Gods themselves. Ozymandias is an iambic
pentameter sonnet with imagery, alliteration, irony, and symbolism. He thinks highly of himself as the
King of Kings and he believes he is the ruler of great and vast lands, but the poem reveals nature and
time has overcome him and his kingdom, leaving behind ruins of him, and lone and level lands around
him full of emptiness. The author is vivid with his uses of imagery in this poem. He is very descriptive
of the pieces of the statue, and the ruins of the wreck. Half sunk, a shatter d visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command, this is a good example of Shelley describing the statue s
ruins using imagery. Here is another example of the imagery use for the wreck and the lands

used imagery in a way to put the reader in the story and really understand where he was at the time. ...

Ozymandias was broken into pieces as if he were dead, the note shows his passions still live on. It also

The History and Evolution of a Huge Subculture
Many subcultures have derived since the beginning of time. They could be classified through religion,
culture, style, outlook on life and many other aspects. The one subculture that has grown
tremendously through out time is a very hard one to notice as a subculture opposed to a sport. Its said
that bodybuilding started way back in the times of great philosophers like Plato who believed that a
man should strive for a balance between mind and body and that there should be harmony between the
two. Also Plato believed with out a well conditioned body the mind would ultimately suffer. Taken

of all could consider himself the beset of the Europe side, the American side, and the whole culture in
general and that man is still known very well today and goes by the name Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was known greatly around the entire world for his amazing body and ability
to almost win every competition he was entered in. When entering the bodybuilding scene in nineteen
sixty six Schwarzenegger started off his success in bodybuilding in sixty seven when he beat Dennis
Tinerino in the Mr. America. Schwarzenegger kept striving for excellence and winning many
competitions but by the nineteen eighties and nineties men like Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbo,
and Frank Zane were slowly being defeated with no problem by the new age of modern bodybuilding.
Today s modern bodybuilders opposed to the bodybuilders of the sixties and seventies look like they
have evolved from some enormous inhuman creature with amazing genes. Looking at the average size
and body fat percentages of old school bodybuilders they weighed somewhere between one hundred
and eighty to two hundred and twenty pounds. Now if you compare that to today s bodybuilders

Usui Reiki Research Paper
THE CONCEPT OF REIKI
Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing through the laying on
of hands. Despite being often referred to as spiritual healing, reiki is a secular practice and is unrelated
to any religion or faith system. Rather, it centres on the belief that all beings are created and sustained
by a universal life force energy, which, if disrupted, weakened or blocked, can result in emotional
and/or physical dis ease. Reiki practitioners act as a channel for this energy, which flows through them
and into the recipient via a series of hand positions relating to the seven main chakras, which in turn
are linked to the body s endocrine system, thereby restoring the energetic balance and encouraging the
body to self heal. As the flow of reiki energy is absorbed by the recipient through both the subtle and
physical bodies, reiki ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Throughout the season of winter, a yellow zesty fruit blossoms from a tree with thorny branches and
white flowers with purple edges. This yellow citrus fruit is known as a lemon. In today s culture,
lemons are used for food, skin, hair, cleanings, and are even featured in an iconic American singer s

The late 1900s brought about a great deal of change for China in terms of basic education. In 1978, a
policy of globalization took effect, and the Peoples Republic of China began to interact with the world
much more than in its previous years. Subsequently, in 1985, the Decision on the Reform of
educational structure was mandated by the Communist Party. This placed the responsibility of
education on local governments. A year later, the Compulsory Education Law of the People s Republic
of China was passed, making basic education a legal requirement of citizens. Throughout the 1990s,
more laws were passed that further refined education, detailing the requirements for quality socialistic
educations, and promoting science and technology as vital elements. The result of this reform was a
tremendous increase in kindergartens, primary, junior and senior secondary schools. Enrollment rates
at primary and junior secondary schools were 98.58% and 90% respectively. Employed full time

Violence: Senator Joseph Lieberman ran a campaign against Mortal Kombat due to its spine ripping

Since the design in the fashion industry rarely creates a new process, machine or manufactures, they
have a separate statute specifically for them for new, original and ornamental design for an article of
manufacture. Trade dress protection is addressed under the Lanham Act to defend the design and
appearance of the product as well as that of the container and all elements making up the total visual
image by which the product is presented to customers. Colors have also been addressed under the
Trade dress protection in which the United States Supreme Court has stated that the color and designs
of a product are only protected under the Lanham Act if a secondary meaning has been demonstrated.
Color and design must be associated by the customer for that particular product over time.
In 2004, the legal team decided to advance with option 4: Trademark protection. They claimed
trademark infringement, trademark dilution, as well as unfair competition and false designation.
Trademark infringement harbors a manufacturer or seller s product to include a word, slogan or
symbol. For instance, Apple is an example of a word that cannot be used in relationship with software
or computers as it will cause confusion from a consumer s perspective. Nike holds the trademark of
the slogan Just Do It that is associated with its product and McDonald s hold trademark of the golden
arches symbol. In some instances this

Summary Of Smartphone Addiction By Jessie Brown
In Jessie Brown: Who Says Smartphone Addiction is bad thing? The case for constant connectivity
(Brown, 2012), Brown claims that the cellphone is not the problem, in fact, it is the person and how
they choose to value their time while using smartphones. In the article Who says smart phone
addiction is a bad thing? The case for constant connectivity. (Toronto Life, 2012), Jesse Brown breaks
down his reasons and beliefs on the negativity surrounding smart phones that perceived as an
addiction. Correspondingly, Brown states that notification sounds and buzzing from our devices tells
us, we are important and wanted, however we fear that we won t be able to live without this constant
stream of reassuring stimulation. Moreover, Brown tries to convey that smartphones are not the
problem, we re the problem. We reply on smartphones for everything way more than we need to.
Furthermore, we make checking our smartphones our top priority by immediately jumping when we
hear sounds that indicate notifications. Accordingly, we are on high alert because of these
notifications, which could be anything from an important work update or a friend s text. ... Show more

Walking In The City Analysis
The desire for a Utopian city is not a surprising aspiration. While in an ideal world cities could be
plotted and planned out perfectly, the readings from this week explore why this is not productive to
attempt in society, and also discuss the problems with city planning and government policies. While
the readings do not necessarily complement each other entirely, they all appear to be speaking for the
same message. The rigorous structure and planning, whether by city planners or government
organizations, is toxic to urban life, as it has aided racial segregation, disrupted the natural flow and
security of city dwellers, and created a divided metropolis (Sugrue). The reading from Kenneth
Jackson, titled Race, Ethnicity, and Real Estate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jacobs condemns the Monotony, sterility, and vulgarity of current urban structuring and well planned
out cities, such as Le Corbusier s radiant city, that are destroying the culture and order that are
essential to diverse city life (Jacobs). Jacobs highlights that the social structure of pavement life hangs
partly on what can be called self appointed public characters, and therefore city planning involving set
structures and pretended order disrupts this essential social format. Jacobs also explores the
discriminatory attitudes towards immigrants and slums, as the readings from Jackson and Segue did.
Jacobs discusses the north end of Boston and it s improper labelling. The north end was regarded as
slum and a place full of immigrants, but went Jacobs went to see for herself, she discovered a strong
community, infectious laughter, and children playing a far cry from the label society had placed upon
it. When asking if there was any possibility of getting a loan for new construction in north end, she
was dismissed with only the words that s a slum (Jacobs), demonstrating the misconception and bias
towards various communities that erroneous city planning has

Adolf Hitlers Life
The Early Life of Adolf Hitler
Many individuals all over the world know of Adolf Hitler and his terrible deeds. They know of his
reasonability to the deaths of over 6 million innocent Jews. Many of these individuals believe that
Adolf Hitler was a hateful man, with no heart or compassion. Only knowing the history of the
Holocaust and World War II, that statement is true. But what would a man go through to end up
heartless, compassionless, and evil? Adolf Hitler had a family, a childhood, and a personal history that
not many individuals know about. I decided for my research paper that I would write about the early
life of Adolf Hitler and what changed him into the evil man that the whole world knows him for.
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20th, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As his grade school years were ending, Adolf had to choose between technical or classical school. His
father pushed him to follow in his footsteps and become a civil servant. Adolf did not want to follow
in his father s footsteps. He wanted to attend classical school and follow his dreams of becoming an
artist. Against Adolf s will, his father sent him to technical high school in the city of Linz. Hitler s first
year in technical school went horribly. Hitler was a country boy in a school full of city boys. These
children looked down on him, assuming that since he was from the country he was unintelligent. He
was very lonely and extremely unhappy his first year, resulting in poor grades. Adolf had a great
resentment to his father for sending him to technical school. Hitler explained in his book Mein Kampf
that he thought that once my father saw what little progress I was making at the [technical school] he
would let me devote myself to the happiness I dreamed of. (the history place) Many arguments
happened between Hitler and his father. Hitler argued he did not want to spend his life at a desk that
his dreams were to be an artist. Yet his father did not listen and sent him back to the technical school.
This caused a bitter struggle between Adolf and his father. Adolf wanted to do everything opposite of
his father. This is where Adolf s interest in German Nationalism arose and quickly became an
obsession. Alois had worked as an Austrian Imperial Customs agent and expressed loyalty to Austria.
Seeing his father express his loyalty to Austria, Adolf began to express loyalty to the German Kaiser.
Hitler and his friends used the German greeting Heil , and liked to sing the German anthem
Deutschland Uber Alles . The constant struggle with his father would soon end. In 1903 Alois died of
a lung hemorrhage, leaving 13 year old Adolf Hitler the head of the Hitler

Essay Jack the Ripper
AP English IV
Book Report
Jack the Ripper
Jack the Ripper was a notorious serial killer, whom some believe never even existed at all.
From August to November 1888, Jack the Ripper terrorized the East End of London by being
responsible for the death and mutilation of at least seven female prostitutes. The destitute East End is
also known as the White Chapel district of London, England. A few of the prostitutes were targeted as
they were leaving brothels in and around the White Chapel district. Jack the Ripper seemed to be
targeting drunken women who had no sense of time or what they were doing (Jack the Ripper).

The rest of the responsibility lies with the Ripper. He may have been a sexual serial killer of a type all
too common in the 1990 s, but he was also bent on terrifying a city and making the whole world take
notice of him by leaving his horribly mutilated victims in plain sight. Lastly, the Ripper was never
caught and it is the mysteries surrounding this killer that both add to the romance of the story and
creating an intellectual puzzle that people still want to solve ( Ebsco host).
It is unclear just how many women the Ripper killed. It is generally accepted that he killed five,
though some have written that he murdered only four while others say seven or more. The public,
press, and even many junior police officers believed that the Ripper was responsible for nine slayings.
The five that are generally accepted are:
1. Mary Ann (Polly) Nichols murdered Friday, August 31 1888.
2. Annie Chapman, murdered Saturday , September 8, 1888.
3. Elizabeth Stride, murdered Sunday, September 30, 1888.
4. Catharine Eddowes, also murdered that same date.
5. Mary Jane (Marie Jeanette) Kelly, murdered Friday, November 9, 1888. Besides these five there are
good reasons to believe that the first victim was really Martha Tabram who was murdered Tuesday,
august 7, 1888, and there are important considerations for questioning whether Stride was a Ripper
victim. As to the actual number of women that the Ripper killed, there is no simple

The Prisoner s Dilemma
This semester so far in Core 5, we have learned about the Prisoner s Dilemma. It is a situation in
which people each have options as to how to react to something. However, what is unique about this
decision, is that each person s decision is directly affected by the other person s decision, and vice
versa. The outcome of their reaction is dependent on what the other person decided to say. The popular
example is of two prisoners who each must separately decide on whether or not to confess to a crime.
Each prisoner has the choice as to confess to the crime or to deny their own involvement. This is just
an example, though, as the Prisoner s Dilemma can be applied to many different scenarios. As it

ignore this, they continue to release careless levels of carbon dioxide without any care in the world
and continue to ruin our planet. We, as inhabitants of earth, have an obligation to take action and start
taking care of our home. Some people, perhaps, choose not to take action because it would be too
difficult or too expensive but that is simply not true. You can take a stand at home by simply adjusting
your thermostat, recycling, and monitoring your electrical use (Take). Taking action does not mean

The Portrayal Of Other Cultures In The Movie Sam
In many texts and movies it is seen, but not closely looked at, on how foreigners are portrayed in
major works. In the movie Sam is referred to by Ilsa as boy and many people would not catch that the
first time watching it. One would mistake it as her disrespecting him but I honestly think that as a
society we are not educated. As a society we are not educated enough. A common problem is this
haste towards other cultures because of the past and stereotyping. Even though the Japanese did bad
things we did too but we seem to have a smoldering resentment towards them by the younger
generation who did not even fight in the war (Bradley 329). Ilsa has always lived with other people of

When this is not the case it always seems as a surprise like oh so you speak spanish which always
confuses me, is it not normal to speak another language? I ve heard from a close friend that she was
ashamed to admit that she speaks another language just because she was afraid that she would be
made fun of. They would watch and hear people speak another language and her classmates would
laugh, so I don t blame her for her thinking. This is so disappointing, because this was only a decade
ago. It is almost contradicting that we want more variety in schools but if we are not letting a variety
of people in the country then how is that even possible. We currently have a travel ban for most of the
countries in the Middle East and basically everywhere in South America. Also for many years
Americans had threatened discriminatory immigration bills against yellow Japanese because they still
held a grudge on them (Bradley 71). As a society we should be more accepting of others and not be so
narrow minded. We should have days where we explore other people s cultures because eventually we
will come in contact with other people different than us. Part of the reason why we are so narrow
minded is we are not educated and when you are educated you become more intelligent on these
matters. It is fine to be different and it is acceptable to look different, and talk different and we should
not get treated differently because of

Gary Paulsen s Nightjohn
In 1993, Gary Paulsen wrote the book Nightjohn. Nightjohn is a book set in the 1850s, during slavery.
It shows the thoughts and views of a twelve year old girl named Sarny. Sarny is a black slave girl, who
is uneducated, malnourished, and living life the best she can. Suddenly, a man by the name of
Nightjohn is brought to the plantation. Sarny traded tobacco for learning the alphabet from Nightjohn.
Nightjohn ran away one night, and was thought to never return, but actually he created a hidden,
underground school. Nightjohn could have been inspired by two interviews, Uncle Billy McCrea s and
Walter Calloway s. Nightjohn was influenced by real slave interviews. One of the interviews in the
archive is an interview from Uncle Billy McCrea. McCrea said, ...they d take them, hang them up by

Calloway s content is alarmingly alike and dislike to Nightjohn. Calloway said, ...whipped a nigger
gal bout thirteen years old so hard she dearly die. Nightjohn was whipped ,so that he had ripple scars

eat..., but Waller s plantation, slaves were barely fed. Calloway s plantation had the privilege to
practice religion on Sundays, something that Cel Waller would never allow. Calloway even thought it
wasn t that bad by saying, Dey treated us purty good. Calloway s recall of his slave times were similar
,yet different to Nightjohn.
Slave interviews helped Paulsen describe the cruelty of slavery. His uses of descriptive words and
phrases help readers visualize the torture the slaves had to endure. By choosing a young girl, he did
not only tell the tale of a young girl, but adults through her vision. It showed how human beings with a
different skin color can be treated like animals. Nightjohn put into words the struggle of America s

Badland Lyrics Analysis
Something that makes Badlands such a beautiful work of art are the lyrics, which are simple and
beautiful enough to make them relatable to nearly anyone who listens to them. Many people have
criticized Halsey s lyrics for being generic, however, they are creative and carefully written, but may
not appeal to everyone. One of her best lyrics is a fan favorite, you were red, and you liked me
because I was blue. But you touched me and suddenly I was a lilac sky, and you decided purple just
wasn t for you. This lyric is from the song Colors, which was written about Halsey s brief relationship

With your face all made up, living on a screen, low on self esteem so you run on gasoline, from her
song Gasoline. This song describes how Halsey feels like she is an outsider to society and she feels
that people are confused by her as she grows more and more popular. The lyric, which is from the
chorus, is her describing what she sees other people as. She is saying that there s pressure to conform
and not be true to whom one really is, and if people don t have much confidence they will follow
popular trends to fit in and be accepted in society. Even though Halsey is very unique and different,
even she still feels the pressure due to fame, and she feels that she s living on a screen. Finally, what is
possibly the best lyric from Badlands is from the song Control: I m bigger than my body; I m colder
than this home. I m meaner than my demons; I m bigger than these bones. Throughout the song,
Halsey describes her struggles with having bipolar disorder since she was a teenager. She has been

The Development And Development Of The Greek And Greek Empire
The Roman Republic and Empire was one of the largest civilisations in the world. A significant
question posed is how and why did the Roman Republic and Empire develop in the ways they did and
interact with the Persian and Greek/Hellenic Empires? At the height of the Roman Empire it spanned
across western Europe, and encompassed the entire Mediterranean. Lasting and developing through
thousands of years, the Romans encountered and interacted with the Persian and Greek/Hellenic
Empires. This included trading, co existing, and going to war with one another. Although, originally
the Roman Republic and Empire was first founded by the Etruscan people. Established in 753 BCE by
a Etruscan colony on the River Tiber in Italy, the city was controlled by Etruscan Kings until 509
BCE. Whence the people rose up against the monarchy to establish the Roman Republic, and fought
for control of central Italy for the next 30 years. (Dr David Lundberg, 2017, pp.6 7) Thus the Roman
Republic became a contending force in Western Europe, and across the Mediterranean for the next 450
years. (J.M.Roberts Odd Arne Westad, 2013, p.218) Instead of a king, two consuls and an assembly of
elected magistrates were installed to rule the Roman Republic. Before a new set of consuls, and new
magistrates were elected by the citizens each year. Additionally, legislative and consultative bodies
were elected as Tribunes of the people, who managed the affairs of the government and managed
conflicts that arose

Rhetorical Devices In 102 Minutes
102 Minutes Essay
In 102 Minutes, the authors force the reader to absorb the significant toll that the events of 9 11 had on
the families involved and people across America; also, Dwyer and Flynn seek to inform them of the
errors in the design of the towers and decisions made by rescuers that preceded the catastrophic events
that took place. The authors mention these facts and arguments to ensure the improvement of future
architectural practices, prepare people for intense situations, and to personalize the tragedy that holds
such an important place in our country s history. Through various rhetorical strategies, the writers
appeal emotionally and analytically to their audience.
The World Trade Center (WTC) held fairly high regard throughout New York as a structurally sound
building, but the authors of 102 Minutes beg to differ on this opinion. They use various diagrams and
statistics of the incredible impact and destruction the planes caused to the building, arguments against
the poor architectural design and support of the towers, and periodic timestamps to make claims and
factual statements about the events that occurred. The timestamps serve as a means of the authors
building suspense in their audience, deepening uncertainty in the audience which intends to move
them to read further and discover the office laborers fates. Moments like At 9:19... we re trapped...

  • 2. Similarities Between Frederick Douglas And Malcom X For some education is a foregone conclusion, particularly those who are wealthy and have means to attend an institution of higher learning. Education is not the sole purview of the wealthy, while having means provides a lower bar for entry, lack of means does not prevent one from enlightening the self. Such is the case for both Frederick Douglas and Malcom X, two men who enlightened themselves without access to the wealth that tethers education to those of the upper class. Hard work and determination can win the day and bestow a freedom that only an advanced education offers. These two men are shining examples of what can be accomplished when someone refuses to be denied an education. This story tells about, Malcolm X and Fredrick Douglas, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Malcom X emphasized, Mr. Muhammad, to whom I was writing daily, had no idea of what a new world had opened up to me through my efforts to document his teachings in books . (444) Becoming a minister of Muhammad, he fought for African Americans civil rights. Fredrick Douglass who started life as a slave on Master Hughes plantation was taught to write by his Mistress in the beginning. As time went on Douglass Master forbade his wife from teaching Douglass any more lessons. Douglass has often said, My mistress, who had kindly commenced to instruct me, had, in compliance with advice and direction of her husband, not only ceased to instruct, but had set her face against my being instructed by anyone else . (403) Douglass was heartbroken as his Mistress s ceased to teach him and his thirst for knowledge grew. When Douglass first became the Mistress slave, she treated him with respect, took care of him, and began to teach him the basics of education. After being told by Master Hughes to stop Douglass s education the Mistress went above and beyond that order. Where she once would bring them newspapers to read together, she would now not let him anywhere near a newspaper for fear of her husband s reprisal. Even through all this he still yearned to learn. In order to finish learning how to read Douglass constructed a plan. He planned to learn to read by making friends with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. San Bernardino Terrorist Attacks Case Apple vs the Government agency (FBI) in the San Bernardino Terrorist attacks case. Ethics and Morality are defined as the distinction of right and wrong. On the other hand morals are also largely based on the social values of good and bad. However, people tend to define them as the standards and customs that guide the way of life towards good. In most cases of ethics and morality they are referring to acts of both good and bad deeds. Nonetheless, in a recent case with the FBI vs. the Government against Apple Inc. Company arose one of the key moral issues in the business world. Apple refused to offer a backdoor to one of the iPhones considered to be of the terrorists. The ethical issue involved two genuine values; privacy and security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apple mentioned also in their letter to their customers that they were against terrorism. They continued to state that as a company they did everything in their power to help the FBI in investigating this case and catch these criminals. However, Apple did not want to risk its customer s privacy because it was found that most apple product users store data such as private conversations, photos, music, notes, calendars and contacts, financial information and health data in their devices. Since Apple operates their company based on certain values one of them being safeguarding their customer s data, this prompted decision to deny the FBI the software or backdoor that would ve risked the privacy of millions of iPhone users. The FBI however is willing to do just about anything to solve a case, one that especially involves serious criminals investigates. Keeping this in mind you can see why the FBI refused to think morally in favor of Apple and how this backdoor software would ve tarnished the reputation and decreased business for this company. However it is concluded both of these parties did what was ethically right for their independent situations, but as you can see what is ethically right for one situation is not necessarily right for another ... • 5. The Best Route For Nuanced And Equitable Access For... It is almost a conundrum to consider the best route for nuanced and equitable access for information. I think on some level the words nuanced and equitable contradict each other. These words can be understood as existing on a continuum. On one end there are the nuanced (i.e. more precise or expert) classification systems which tend to serve the skilled searcher very well, and the novice searcher very badly. Unless you are familiar with the controlled vocabulary you are unlikely to find answers. On the other end of the spectrum there are equitable classification systems which, in the struggle to make the search easy and possible for all, lose the nuance needed to find what is specifically sought. Search engines for example, are broad and constrained by very few search rules. The knowledge gained from a search engine can be found by nearly anyone with basic knowledge. The results returned from many poorly constructed searches, however, are generic and the number of results can be so broad as to be meaningless. So which is better? To have an access system so stringent that a layperson will have a difficult time retrieving results? Or have an access system so open that anyone can retrieve results, but the results may not be as relevant as they need to be? As usual, the answer lies in finding a happy medium. I believe the best route for creating access to cultural heritage information, a way to have the best of both nuance and equity, is to employ a system that has a public ... With the popularity of music streaming applications growing such as, Spotify, or Pandora that really isn t the case anymore. You can simply hook your phone up to your car radio via bluetooth, or by an auxiliary chord, and listen to your favorite song at that very moment. • 12. Usui Reiki Research Paper THE CONCEPT OF REIKI Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing through the laying on of hands. Despite being often referred to as spiritual healing, reiki is a secular practice and is unrelated to any religion or faith system. Rather, it centres on the belief that all beings are created and sustained by a universal life force energy, which, if disrupted, weakened or blocked, can result in emotional and/or physical dis ease. Reiki practitioners act as a channel for this energy, which flows through them and into the recipient via a series of hand positions relating to the seven main chakras, which in turn are linked to the body s endocrine system, thereby restoring the energetic balance and encouraging the body to self heal. Subsequently, in 1985, the Decision on the Reform of educational structure was mandated by the Communist Party. This placed the responsibility of education on local governments. A year later, the Compulsory Education Law of the People s Republic of China was passed, making basic education a legal requirement of citizens. • 35. The Development And Development Of The Greek And Greek Empire The Roman Republic and Empire was one of the largest civilisations in the world. A significant question posed is how and why did the Roman Republic and Empire develop in the ways they did and interact with the Persian and Greek/Hellenic Empires? At the height of the Roman Empire it spanned across western Europe, and encompassed the entire Mediterranean. Lasting and developing through thousands of years, the Romans encountered and interacted with the Persian and Greek/Hellenic Empires. This included trading, co existing, and going to war with one another. Although, originally the Roman Republic and Empire was first founded by the Etruscan people. Established in 753 BCE by a Etruscan colony on the River Tiber in Italy, the city was controlled by Etruscan Kings until 509 BCE. Whence the people rose up against the monarchy to establish the Roman Republic, and fought for control of central Italy for the next 30 years. (Dr David Lundberg, 2017, pp.6 7) Thus the Roman Republic became a contending force in Western Europe, and across the Mediterranean for the next 450 years. (J.M.Roberts Odd Arne Westad, 2013, p.218) Instead of a king, two consuls and an assembly of elected magistrates were installed to rule the Roman Republic. Before a new set of consuls, and new magistrates were elected by the citizens each year. Additionally, legislative and consultative bodies were elected as Tribunes of the people, who managed the affairs of the government and managed conflicts that arose ... Science class, James is one of the very first people to arrive. (Indicating his interest). He seemed to be very keen and enthusiastic about science session. He was clearly enjoying the lesson by participating in class work and questioning. Science session being one of the most interactive sessions of all helped James to progress faster and have a great start to his day. He was enjoying his team work to build the human body. His behaviour could be referred to as that of an exemplary student. He was certainly encouraging his peers to work harder as he was better and faster than them (competitive manner). • 38. Rhetorical Devices In 102 Minutes 102 Minutes Essay In 102 Minutes, the authors force the reader to absorb the significant toll that the events of 9 11 had on the families involved and people across America; also, Dwyer and Flynn seek to inform them of the errors in the design of the towers and decisions made by rescuers that preceded the catastrophic events that took place. The authors mention these facts and arguments to ensure the improvement of future architectural practices, prepare people for intense situations, and to personalize the tragedy that holds such an important place in our country s history. Through various rhetorical strategies, the writers appeal emotionally and analytically to their audience. The World Trade Center (WTC) held fairly high regard throughout New York as a structurally sound building, but the authors of 102 Minutes beg to differ on this opinion. They use various diagrams and statistics of the incredible impact and destruction the planes caused to the building, arguments against the poor architectural design and support of the towers, and periodic timestamps to make claims and factual statements about the events that occurred. The timestamps serve as a means of the authors building suspense in their audience, deepening uncertainty in the audience which intends to move them to read further and discover the office laborers fates. Moments like At 9:19... we re trapped... there s smoke coming in. I don t know what s happening (102 Minutes 186) and when Assistant Chief Callan stood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
