Emerging Diseases Research Paper
BIOL 390 Emerging Infectious Diseases Assignment 1 20 points 1) Pick from the following
emerging/reemerging diseases: Brucellosis, Clostridium difficile; Antibiotic resistant Gonorrhea;
Highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5); Japanese encephalitis; MERS CoV; Naegleria fowleri;
Powassan Virus; and Zika. List your disease in the blank. Then, research the disease from
www.cdc.gov and answer the following questions. Japanese encephalitis 2) Describe the microbial
agent that causes your disease (3 points). According to the CDC (2015), the Japanese encephalitis
virus is a flavivirus just like the yellow fever and West Nile virus. Flaviviruses are mostly transmitted
through bug bites, such as an infected mosquito. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mosquitos are the main transmitter of this virus. According to the World Health Organization (WHO),
pigs and birds are also part of the transmission cycle, which increases the risk of infection to people
living near these animals. According to WHO, there are twenty four countries that have a risk of
infection, particularly in the South East region of Asia and the Western Pacific. 4) What are the
symptoms of your disease (5 points)? Most cases of Japanese encephalitis have no symptoms or just a
mild headache or fever; however, according to the World Health Organization, 1 in 250 patients
develop chronic symptoms like severe headaches, fever, stiffness of the neck, disorientation, seizures,
and eventually death. Most of these symptoms are caused by encephalitis (swelling of the brain),
hence the name of the virus. 5) How is this disease transmitted (3 points)? According to the CDC
(2015), this virus is mainly spread from infected mosquito bites particularly from Culex
tritaeniorhynchu. Humans are not part of the transmission cycle; however, pigs and birds are part of
the cycle. Therefore, there is increased risk to people who live in close proximity to these

Causes Of Mfecane
Explaining Mfecane as a multipolar cause and showing the flaws in the unipolar cause schools of
thought.
Introduction.
During the 1820 s the southern area of Africa went through a drastic population growth and radical
social, political changes, economic and ecological changes. This period was characterised as a period
of migration, battles, food deprivation, and suffering for most of the kingdoms of Southern Africa .
This period of wars and migration in Africa become known as Mfecane. There are many schools of
thought as to why these migrations and wars took place. These schools of thought, are based on
specific causes for the Mfecane. The causes are trade, environmental changes, political changes and
population growth. This essay will, however, argue that there is no unipolar explanation for the ...

Gump, however, has led us away from blaming Mfecane solely on Shaka, since Shaka only comes
after the start of Mfecane, thus could he as a great leader only worsen Mfecane by increasing the
number of wars . Colin Web argued that the reason why Difagane took place was indeed about,
political changes, but what made Web s study different he did not only blame one kingdom, he argued
the causes for Mfecane was due to three strong kingdoms, present at the same time. These three
kingdoms according to Web was known as Sobhuza s Ngwane Dhlamini, Dingiswayo s Mthethwa and
Zwide s Ndwandwe . Thus did Web conclude due to the fact that all these kingdoms were present at
the same time competition ware high and resources were low, this led to wars and migration often
associated with Mfecane. This was possible because in terms of environment and natural resources the
three conquering chiefdoms resembled one another remarkable close, their lies a strong possibility that
if adversity struck one of these chiefdoms it would strike all three, setting them on similar courses of

The Body In The Library Essay
The novel The Body in the Library is an English characterized as crime novel, written by Agatha
Christie and published by Dodd, Mead, and Company. The early version of this novel was published
in February 1942 in the United Kingdom. The novel is telling a story about a young woman s body
that was found in the Colonel and Mrs. Bantry s library by their maid. When Mrs. Bantry sees the
body, she calls her old friend, Miss Marple, to investigate this crime. By the time, the body had been
identified and that the body refers to a dancer called Ruby Keene, who had been working at a nearby
hotel, Majestic hotel. Afterward, they found that she was in somehow has a relation with Mrs. Bantry,
whose library she had been murdered. Moreover, they found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although nail clippings were found in Ruby s room, the girl in the library had bitten hers, which
meant that the body in the library was not Ruby s. When Dinah mentioned Somerset House marriage,
Miss Marple found out that Mark was married to Josie. Upon finding out about Conway and Ruby,
they decided to murder her and frame Basil. Mark and Josie approached Pamela regarding a film test,
and when she accepted, they bleached her hair, put make up on her, varnished her nails, put her into
one of Ruby s dresses, and drugged her. Mark then slipped away to write letters, and drove down to
the sea front. But that was when he drove Pamela to Basil Blake s house, and strangled her. So when
the doctor said the time she died, Mark and Josie had solid alibis, they were playing bridge watching
the real Ruby Keene alive and dancing, and they did not leave the table until after midnight. Josie told
Ruby to go and lie down in Josie s room. Ruby, as well, had been drugged. When changing for the
dance, Josie murdered Ruby, either by strangulation, a poisonous injection, or a blow on the back of
her head. In the early hours of the morning, Josie dressed Ruby in Pamela s Girl Guide uniform, stole

The Parsons Family Analysis
In the book the Parsons family is introduced to the readers when Winston goes over to Mrs. Parsons s
apartment to fix her pipes under the sink. There he met her children, her son of nine years old and
daughter of seven years old. But like most children they were a part of the Spies who report back to
the authorities when activities that don t align with Big Brother s mission occur whether it be their
parents or someone else. You can see how much power the children have by the statement the boy
makes to Winston, You re a thoughtcriminal! You re a Eurasian spy!... I ll send you to the salt mines!
(Pg. 25). With just a word to the authorities Winston will be sent to his death or be worked to death in
hard labour camp all based on a child s word.

Van Gogh Theory
Another theory about the life of Van Gogh was that he did not actually commit suicide but was
murdered. A biography of Van Gogh written in 2011 by Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith
claimed that Van Gogh was actually shot by a teenage boy named Rene Secretan. Apparently, Rene
and his brother would torment Van Gogh very frequently, ranging anywhere from putting salt in his
coffee to throwing snakes in his sandbox. On July 27th, while these two boys were out playing with a
faulty pistol, a shot went off and struck Van Gogh s abdomen. This writer believes that Van Gogh
claimed that the gun shot wound was self inflicted because, in Van Gogh s mind, this young boy was
putting him out of his misery. Van Gogh was extremely depressed and felt as though he was a
financial burden to his brother, Theo, so by getting shot, and Van Gogh felt as though his absence
would make the world a better place. This theory is widely debated, but more people seem to agree
with the theory that Van Gogh ended his own life and was not in fact murdered. Some believe that
Vincent van Gogh did not actually cut off his own ear in an act of insanity. Two German historians
strongly believe that Van Gogh lost his ear during a sword fight with the famous artist that he had a
fall out with, Paul Gauguin.
Others have doubt about the theory that Van Gogh cut off his ear in response to a blowout with the
painter Paul Gauguin. According to a new theory, Van Gogh may have actually chopped off his ear

Opioid Receptors
Most opioid drugs will elicit these analgesic effects through the activation of the opioid receptor
(McDonald Lambert, 2005). The currently available drugs that interact with opioid receptors include
morphine, codeine and naloxone. A
Opioid receptors are members of the G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) family, which consists of 7
transmembrane domains linked together by 3 extracellular and 3 intracellular loops (Trescot et al.,
2008). The three different classes of opioid receptors are: opioid receptor, opioid receptor and opioid
receptor, which are distributed throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems (Trescot et al.,
2008). opioid receptors are associated with analgesia, euphoria and physical dependence and are
predominately located in the brainstem and thalamus (Trescot et al., 2008). opioid receptors, on the
other hand, are primarily found in limbic brain topography, brain stem and spinal cord, and are related
to dysphoria and analgesia (Trescot et al., 2008). Although opioid receptor mechanisms are poorly
understood, it has been indicated to also have psychomimetic effects (Trescot et al., 2008).
Opioid receptors act through second messenger system, which eventually leads to the activation of
protein kinases and alterations in gene expression (Trescot et al., 2008). ... Show more content on

codeine use can potentially result in respiratory depression and cardiac arrest (Yiannakopoulou,

A Long Link Of Barricaded Police Struggles
A long link of barricaded police struggles to hold the throng in place away from the bank. Open the
doors! the crowd shouts as they propel themselves to split the links; the police sustain them back like a
stretching elastic rope. A common scene in the 1890s, citizens confronting banks for their money
though banks had none. We want our money! The poor citizens shout out in unison. Major economic
recessions of the 1890s, notably the panic of 1893, was heralded by cycles of disbeliefs that
destabilized public confidence and weakened the nation. Prominent historians of the website
ushistory.com argue that one response to the failures was an expansion in business associations.
However, they also showed that; the poorer elements of society assumed they had been ignored during
the hard times and then were left at the mercy of the trusts. (1) In reality, the same historians declare;
the reform efforts of the last quarter of the 19th century had not been sufficient; new leadership was
needed for the next century. This leadership ascended from the National Association of Manufactures
(NAM), initiated in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1895. Already affirmed, The United States was in the middle
of the recessions. Scores of the country s manufacturers wanted to export their products in other
countries. One of the NAM s endeavors was to call for the establishment of the U.S. Department of
Commerce (CC). Initially, NAM lead the attack on labor organization and government regulation.

John Adams Pursuit Of The American Dream

The American Dream
When people come to America, they come because the want to live the American dream. But what
actually is the American dream? Does it truly exist? When one thinks of the American dream they
instantly think of the Declaration of Independence because they too also believe that all men are
created equal but also believe in the beauty of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. United States
citizens as well as immigrants, believed in what the declaration had said and that it would push them
closer to an experience of the American dream. Though people are excited to move towards a better
life, they become a bit hesitant because they do not know exactly what the American dream is, nor do
they know if all people are granted the same chance towards the American dream due to their age,
race, their social status, traditions and any other factors. John Adams once stated that this American
dream we speak of should give a better life to everyone but only according to their ability. To me this
means that everyone deserves a better life but we cannot just give you everything, you have to show
what you can do, and how far your American dream goes depends on you, your ability, and how hard
you are willing to work. Though your American dream is based upon your ability being African
American holds you back, though you have the ability to do great things you will not get the same
opportunity due to race. Even today

Dexter Morgan Killing
Fictional television shows were created to entertain the public. For some television is an escape from
reality were someone s imagination can get the best of them. For others, it s just a fictional program
that has no effect in their lives, or so they think. Watching fictional television can manipulate the mind
into believing that something is good. For example, the TV show Dexter tell the story of a man who is
a killer but the audience wants to see him succeed. Dexter Morgan shows viewers that murder can
sometimes be justified because he only killing those who truly deserved it which keeps killers off the

A View of Christ Through “Goblin Market” Essay example
Many authors add personal beliefs and feelings to their literature in order to add depth and allow the
reader to understand them in a more intimate way. Christina Rossetti was no different. She added her
religious beliefs. Her beliefs were an important piece of her life. Christina Rossetti s poem Goblin
Market is an autobiographical view that represents her religious beliefs. She added her religious views
to her work in order to strengthen her poem and to allow her reader to understand her. Her beliefs
come from a shared religious experience with her mother. These religious experiences stem from
Judeo Christian origins. Looking at the past of Rossetti with an analytical view of her poem will help

Her religious beliefs were a huge building block in her life decisions; this also included her writing
choices. The strong amount of Christian symbolism and imagery Rossetti uses throughout the poem
Goblin Market were no accident, they were merely a way for her to express her Angelic Christian
beliefs. There are many messages that can be taken from this poem, depending on the point of view of
the reader. The main underlying message that should be taken from this poem by all is one that Dooley
talks about in her analysis: One underlying message of Goblin Market is that the world is full of
temptations, both sexual and pleasurable, from which women must be saved through God s grace.
Reading the poem for just the words on the page the reappearing theme of temptation is prevalent.
When Rossetti describes the first appearance of the Goblins the sense of temptation understood: No,
said Lizzie, no, no, no; Their offers should not charm us, Their evil gifts would harm us (64 66).
Rossetti provides the proof that the offers of the Goblins are evil. The proof Rossetti has given is
based on the assumption that there is a sense of honesty and purity in Lizzie. She chose the word harm
because it gives the reader the image of physical pain. Physical pain is not evil in and of itself but
being a possible side effect of the gifts and the purposeful intention makes the gift evil. The caution
given to Laura does not convince her to stay away from the offers:

Impact Of The Affordable Care Act
Policy Background When the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was enacted on March 23rd, 2010, it
transformed the lives of people all over the US, in states who expanded. It allowed families to qualify
for government programs such as Medicaid, CHIP, and government subsidies, and for young adults to
stay on their parent s insurance until the age of 26. The ACA was a sign of relief and good news for all
but two groups, lawful permanent residents and undocumented immigrants. In 2012, DACA recipients
under the DREAM Act also became part of the groups excluded, leaving more than 6.5 million unable
to access affordable care. In order to make a change, the New Mexico Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham,

intended to break down barriers for women and their families by expanding the definition of lawfully

subparagraph (A) to expand the definition of lawfully present to include such an individual who is

my anger I did not pay attention to the group s set up. In the beginning of the meeting, the hostesses
both greeted themselves and welcomed everyone to the meeting. They asked if there were any
announcements that were needed to be made, and about two persons discussed an AA event that was

Activation Rate Law
Abstract. The objective of this work was to determine the activation energy and rate law for the
reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium shot. An analysis of the reaction s initial rate at
varying molarities of hydrochloric acid and masses of magnesium shot, along with the method of
initial rates was used to determine the rate law for the reaction; rate = k (SA of Mg)a [H+]b. It was
hypothesized that the reaction would be second order overall. After determining the rate law, the
activation energy was determined by changing the temperature at which the reaction took place. Using
the rate constants calculated at the two different temperatures, the activation energy was calculated. It
was found, experimentally through the method of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the biggest sources of error was letting some of the hydrogen gas escape during the reaction
because the cap of the pressure probe could not be placed on top of the flask quick enough. Not being
able to measure all of the change in pressure resulted in a lower rate law because the graph of pressure
versus time had a smaller slope. In future experiments, a system in which the reactants could be mixed
with the pressure probe already in place would yield much more accurate results because the change
in pressure would be higher which would cause the initial rate to be larger. Another source of error in
the experiment was keeping the temperature of the trial in the ice bath consistent. If the temperature of
the HCl changed from when it was measure to when the reaction took place, the activation energy
calculations would have had increased error. Because the HCl was still sitting in the ice bath, if the
actual temperature was colder that what we calculated, the activation energy would have been
lowered. For future experiments, the temperature of the HCl should be recorded as soon to when the
Mg shot is added as possible, or the experiment could be run in a temperature controlled

Yields on municipal bonds are often lower than corporate or Treasurybonds with comparable
maturities, because of the important advantage of not being taxed at the government level. The feature
of this bond is low default risk, may be exempt from local authorities taxes and not very attractive.
c. Corporate bond
A type of bonds is issued by a corporation.Corporate bonds often pay higher rates than government or
municipal bonds, because they tend to be riskier. The bondholder receives interest payments (yield)
and the principal, usually 100,000VND, is repaid on a fixed maturity date (bonds can mature
anywhere between 1 to 30 years). Generally, changes in interest rates are reflected in bond prices.
Bonds are considered to be less risky than stocks, since the company has to pay off all its debts
(including bonds) before it handles its obligations to stockholders. Corporate bonds have a wide range
of ratings and yields because the financial health of the issuers can vary widely. The most popular
types of this bond is convertible bonds. However, nowadays, many corporations choose to issue
floating rate bonds; MOF estimated that there were about 18,000 floating rate bonds are issued in

During that time education in Africa, Kenyan included was stratified on racial lines in matters of

Africans prepared youths to work on Europeans farms.
1.2.2 Post colonial education in Kenya (Neocolonialism)
Sifuna and Otiende (1992) noted that racial segregation was abolished in 1960 as the country moved
closer to independence. With the attainment of independence on 12th December, 1963; a ministry of
education was created. The school system in Kenya was brought under a localized standard
curriculum and public examinations. Since independence, the Government has addressed challenges
facing the education sector through Commissions, Committees and Taskforces.
The first Commission, after independence, came up with the Report of the Kenya Education
Commission (The Ominde Report, 1964) that sought to reform the education system inherited from
the colonial government to make it more responsive to the needs of independent Kenya. The
Commission proposed an education system that would foster national unity and the creation of
sufficient human capital for national development. Sessional Paper No: 10 of 1965 on African
Socialism and its Application to Planning in Kenya formally adopted the Ominde

The Weird Is An Essential Horror Component
As a genre, the weird is an essential horror component that is used to convey points and ideas that
regular Gothic monsters cannot. Dracula is not the fatalistic manifestation of there is nothing you can
do to change the world that Cthulhu is, and cannot be made into one. When the monsters are tangible,
they are understandable. They have a weakness, they can be conquered by humanity and have the
world return to a relative normal. The weird can convey the extremes in ways tangible monsters
cannot, and make a statement on the world that the Gothic is too limited to address completely. Both
Lovecraft and Gilman use the bounds, or lack thereof, of the weird to expand upon ideas that cannot
be properly expressed by what would be considered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dead monster lies dreaming of a future where his acts and power are realized. He does not wish
death upon humanity, nor does he wish to help humanity because they are of so little consequence to
him. His cult is aware of this, worshipping the Old Ones so they could be ... Free and wild and beyond
good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing and revelling in
joy. ... And all the earth would flame with a holocaust of ecstasy and freedom. (Lovecraft)
This shows how Lovecraft sees the world, using the elder gods as a tangible metaphor for his nihilistic
view of life and its meaning, or lack thereof. In a cosmic sense, the monster is unimportant, adding
another layer of merit to Lovecraft s argument. If the mighty Cthulhu is a simple extraterrestrial being
that happened to find Earth and build a city on it, what is his purpose? What does he worship, fear,
love? Even the world ending, miles tall, progeny of Earth s ambivalent horror has no purpose or drive
beyond staying in his endless cycle, dreaming in R yleh.
Gilman is much more positive than Lovecraft, in a way. She does not see the world as inherently
useless, but does question the ideas that society takes for granted, like the ability to control the self
and medical practices meant to deprive the patient of mental activity. The Yellow Wallpaper is her take
on the world through the

Habits Of Highly Effective Teens By Sean Covey
High School is a huge milestone for everyone, and for many, it can be a lot to take in all at once. In the
7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Author Sean Covey goes over 7 habits, that if applied to everyone
s lives, (Including Adults) can bring them more success and become highly effective. The habits
discuss useful tips and tricks to accomplish your goals and make a difference, to fulfill your greatest
aspirations and start preparing as a young adult ready to work up to success.
Habit 1 discusses being proactive instead of reactive, and taking control of your own decisions and
how that can benefit you. The author uses multiple examples on how to deal with certain situations
and encourages/recommends self courageous thoughts. An example of the author doing this was, if
you believe you are smart, that belief will cast a rosy hue on everything you do (Covey 13). This

help you learn to overcome your fears and be strong during hard moments (Covey 111). Here, the
author is attempting to persuade the reader by including some of the benefits of putting first things

Immigration Is A Current And Contemporary Issue
Immigration is a current and contemporary issue if only because of the vast numbers of people if
affects. 191 million people migrate worldwide each year, and this number is growing as the ways of
travelling worldwide become more advanced and more accessible over time. It is a most topical issue,
especially in areas such as politics, media and education. Psychology offers an important view on this
topic as research in this area helps with the development of policies and with raising awareness of this
small but growing area of the population.
Paragraph 1 research on discrimination why does it occur
Richards (1997) Most racist beliefs derive from the idea that there is a biological hierarchy between
different social groups based on perceived racial differences. This belief that there is a natural order
reflected in race persisted and was promoted in many scientific fields from 1850 1910, during which
slavery, imperialism and colonialism created the ideal breeding ground for these beliefs. Richards
(1997) history of racism in psychology shows that the failure to scientifically prove racist theories lead
to psychologist beginning to see racism for what it really is a phenomenon to be recognised as a
problem within society.
Devine (1989) Stereotypes are learned early in life and are automatically activated, whereas prejudices
are learned later in life, and can be either consistent, or inconsistent with these stereotypes. Devine

Book Report On The Book The Night
Today is September 1st, 1939 in Holland. Right now I m going to be writing a book, it is going to be
really good. I wish it would be published so that lots of people could read it and enjoy it. Once I m
finished with my book I will lend a copy to my good friends the Franks. The Franks are, Otto Frank,
Edith Frank, Margot Frank, and Anne Frank. So it s 1:00 in the afternoon and while I was in the
middle of writing my book I was interrupted by a loud, BANG! Then there were even more loud
noises and I started to think that they were gunshots, so I looked at my window and i saw a Jew laying
on the ground dead and next to him was a Nazi with a rifle. I quickly ran over to the Frank s House to
see if they heard the shots and they did. Every single one of us started wondering why they would kill
Jews. We knew it was because of Adolf Hitler, he is in control of the Nazis. Everyday now for the past
week there has been at least one killing of a Jew. I started to think that we were going to be in a war
with the Germans. The next day seven Jews were shot and killed and lots of people were being taken
to a place called Concentration Camps. It is a horrible place, they hardly feed you, it is just a complete
disaster. The Franks are going into this hideout called the Secret Annex, the Secret Annex is hidden in
Otto Frank s business place. The Secret Annex entrance is covered by a moving bookshelf. Also I have

Prisoner s Dilemma Essay
1). The Prisoner s Dilemma
The Prisoner s Dilemma is an extremely popular game and way of thinking about social interactions
and also economics. It judges how people work together and against each other. It helps us understand
what governs the balance between cooperation and competition in business, in politics, and in social
settings. The two players in the game can choose between two moves, either cooperate or defect . The
idea is that each player gains when both cooperate, but if only one of them cooperates, the other one,
who defects, will gain more. If both defect, both lose. The whole game situation and its different

This is none so more apparent than in the United States where a strange phenomenon is beginning to
develop as a direct consequence of the rapid pace of technological advancement, this phenomenon is
going bowling alone. This has been highlighted because at its core bowling is an extremely sociable

unprecedented rate. Nowadays people find the ease of staying at home to watch television or movies
or play videogames much more appealing than going out to the bowling alley with their friends for a

easier than ever to organise your group of friends to go for a game of bowling, but that isn t the case.
Despite being constantly connected to the world, organising a large group event is quite difficult
because people tend to ignore their devices as some sort of respite, to clear their minds from the

Summary Of Lysistrata
Lysistrata by Aristophanes is seen to be a comical play used to show the impact of war not only on the
ones physically in the war, but the ones mentally involved also. This play was written to help express
the feeling the author had about the war occurring during the time the work was written. Lysistrata, the
main character, is a strong woman who decides to become as what could be said as being rebellious .
She does this by refusing to have sexual relations with the men in the city until it was agreed that
peace would be declared between the two troops. She calls a meeting with the women in the city and
include them in her vindictive ideas to bring the war to an end. This play is sure to bring a smile to the
readers face due to the comical events that occur. However, comedy is not the only thing that becomes
apparent within the play. Throughout the work of Lysistrata there are three themes that become
apparent during this play: peace and harmony, control by gender, and politics.
Peace and Harmony is the central theme in the play. Lysistrata is out to end the prolonged war. After
consideration on how to accomplish her wishes, and idea finally arises. Lysistrata holds a meeting
with all the women to become rebellious and refuse to have sexual relations with the men. During this
meeting between all the women, Lysistrata states, From now on, no more penises for you (Line 124).

The Crusades Dbq
For many years, holy wars had been fought by Christians all across Europe against the impeding
forces of neighboring Muslims. These wars were called the Crusades and for decades upon centuries,
thousands of lives had been lost on both the Christian and Muslim fronts. Historically speaking, there
were approximately nine crusades waged upon the Muslims to stop them from encroaching further on
European territory, but most of these Crusades were unsuccessful with the advent of strong Muslim
empires. Empires such as the Abbasid, the Fatimid, and the Ottoman all had advanced technology with
the advent of gunpowder and canons; they were unstoppable and continued to conquer lands up to
Vienna and Austria. The main goal of the Crusades was to take back the Holy land of Jerusalem, a
sacred site to all people of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and to fight against the unbeilivers
(Spielvogel, 329). Each of the three religions held claims about the significance of the city and the
surrounding area, relating back to their respective prophets, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed,
respectively. Christians joined the crusader expeditions for several reasons: for the glory of spreading
their religion, for the spoils of war, and for preventing any progression of Islam.

Motion picture photography
Cinematography is a general term for the techniques of motion picture photography. In particular is a
sequence of animation and scene combine together. Most of Meryl s imaginations are in animation to
describe the bad things that happen. For example, Meryl gets off the train and walking back to her
home. She imagined the train would suddenly drop off, the car would crash on her and the man who
was playing with the dog would come to kill her. The animation allows the audience directly sees into
her imagination.
For the whole film the ending is predicted so the color was dark. It gives the audience a heavy feeling.
But at the end, after the rain, the sun comes out. The color changed, the color is bright and hopeful. It
shows the kids are jumping and playing with the water on the floor. It has a magic movement where
Nick and Meryl see each other again.
The animation is mixed amongst the live footage to great effect. It gives the film a real buzz and its
particularly graphic nature is both hilarious and disturbing.
Editing and Montage
Montage refers to a series of successive short shots that are rapidly juxtaposed into a coherent
sequence to suggest meaning.
The ending sequence: (1:07:31 to

Women, Education, And Marriage Of Women In The Elizabethan...
Have you ever wondered what women went through back before they had all these rights? Well,
women back then were treated very unfairly they were treated with very less respect. Women back
then could get little education, they were pretty much servants to men compared to nowadays. Keep
reading to read all about what people thought about the women, education, and marriage of women.
The Elizabethan Era was an era where women were mistreated and not giving the equal rights that
men have. Women are the power of the people, the leaders, the outgoers, but they were not always this
way in this article it states, Women were regarded as ´the weaker sex´, not just in terms of physical
strength, but emotionally too ( Elizabethan Women.Queen Elizabeth 1). Women are mainly just known
for literally sitting around and doing nothing, women were known for the more sadder and less
stronger type. Back in the 1500s and 1600s women were watched by men, if they were not married
any male in their life had to watch them, but if they were married then their husband would have to
watch them, ... It was believed that women always needed someone to look after them. If they were
married, their husband was expected to look after them. If they were single, then their father, brother
or another male relative was expected to take care of them. As you can see by this quote, women back
in the elizabethan time were like the maids, if they were not doing what they are supposed to be doing

I Am Legend
The movie I am Legend is a great movie. I really enjoy I am Legend because it is a story about Robert
Neville (Will Smith) and his dog Samantha, a German shepherd, surviving in a zombie apocalypse in
the heart of New York City. Now these are not your normal zombies they are more or less just

That night the infected find their way to Robert s house, they start to attack and get inside. Robert,

infected that he captured. The infected he capture was not infected anymore and was slowly becoming
human again, but the other infected started beating on the glass trying to break their way into the
room. So Robert takes a blood sample, which has the cure in it, of the captured infected gives it to
Anna and Ethan. He then locks them in a smaller emergency locker, and tells them to get the cure to
other scientists and fix it all. He then shuts the door and pulls a grenade out of a desk drawer. Looking
at all the infected in the room he pulls the pin and opens the door ending his life and killing all the
infected in the area. Anna and Ethan then find their way to other people and scientists and were able to
save the world because of the work of Robert Neville. In my opinion, the movie I am Legend is a
fantastic movie for many reasons being from plot, to characters, and to the producer. The plot was
based on a 1954 horror book I am Legend by Richard Matheson. This story is what he is most well
known for and made him popular. Richard had many great works and those got him the chance to
write sixteen episodes for the popular television show The Twilight Zone. This television show aired
from 1959 to 1964 with five seasons and 156 episodes. Making the book into a movie shows that it

Manipulation Depicted In Shakespeare s Richard The III
William Shakespeare s Richard the III follows the story of Richard, Duke of Gloucester, and how he

Richard s cunning abilities, and the ways in which he resolves his problems. In this passage, Richard
is attempting to advance with his plans of becoming king. In order to successfully do so, he must learn
of the ones around him. He must know who he can trust, and who he cannot, for his plans can prove to
be futile and potentially dangerous to him if he does not confide in the right people. Richard s

Catesby says, Tis a vile thing to die, my gracious lord,/When men are unprepared and look not for it.
(61 62) The irony exists as Catesby is not only referring to Elizabeth s kinsmens deaths, but he is also
foreshadowing Hastings doom. Hastings is negligent in realizing the true nature of Catesby s words.
This irony further depicts the recurring theme of deception in the play, but as well as Hastings
blindness. Hastings is manipulated into believing that Richard will protect him in any situation as he
says, As thou and I, who, as thou know st, are dear /To princely Richard and to Buckingham. (66 68)
Richard s concealed operations are proven successful as Hastings is deceived by Catesby s illusive
words. The many occurrences of double entendre through Catesby s replies add to the irony, but also
demonstrate how Richard s mischievous implications are hidden from Hastings, but not from the
audience. Richard s manipulative expertise can also be shown by, not only his enemies, but also his
friends and followers. In the passage, Catesby is easily manipulated and corrupted by Richard.
Richard s manipulative skills are critical to his development and representation of a smart yet hateful
man. Most of Richard s followers, including Catesby, do not honor him because of him and his plans,
but more so the power he possesses and what he can offer to

Framing The Operational Environment
When we discuss the operational environment, all factors tie in to each other in some way. The
physical environment and infrastructure, while intertwined, can sometimes leave items off the table
when planning for the operational environment. As we see in our Lesson 2, Framing the Operational
Environment1, culture is listed in every critical variable. Items of cultural interest can include tribal
boundaries, religious burial grounds, and historically significant areas. These may not fall into the
infrastructure category, but must be respected and taken into account when planning. Planners must
take care to map out these culturally sensitive places to avoid potential conflict. The physical
environment includes terrain analysis in order to avoid danger areas that could impede ingress and
egress, choke points and defilades, climate and weather to name a few. ... Show more content on

The Environmental Impact Of The Fast Fashion Industry
Fashion is a clear reflection of the social, economic, political and cultural period. More and more
people are becoming concerned with their style and more importantly, how it affects their wallet. This
mindset has paved the way for the fast fashion industry to flourish. Fast fashion is clothing [being
produced] at increasingly low prices, prices so low that many consumers consider this clothing to be
disposable... the clothing equivalent of fast food. (Claudio) Consumers are so caught up on the fact
that they are getting a bargain, that they totally disregard the uncomfortable reality surrounding the
dark side of mass consumer fashion. The fast fashion industry has created a culture of mindless
consumerism.
One of the many things, people are unaware of, that is attached to fast fashion, is its environmental
impact. People are completely willing to turn a blind eye to the fact that this business is the second
most polluting industry in the world in order to be trendy. The first, and most obvious environmental
impact of the fashion industry is its pollution of water by the use of harmful, toxic chemicals, dyes,
and detergents. The textile industry uses more than 8,000 [types of] chemicals annually, (Scott). Some
of which, are carcinogenic for both people and animals. In fact, the World Health Organization reports
that in China, polluted water causes 75 percent of diseases and over 100,000 deaths annually. This

Comparing The Stereotypes Of Dwarves And Little People

of reality and not necessarily accurate or complete. Representations are useful for conveying complex
thoughts and emotions. Dwarves are a good group to investigate because these people can be
portrayed by the media in multiple ways because dwarves can be shown as fantasy creatures that don t
exist in society. They can also be shown as normal people that live normal lives like everybody else.

Compare and Contrast the Views of Native Americans and...
During the 16th and 17th centuries, when the Europeans started to come over to the new world, they
discovered a society of Indians that was strikingly different to their own. To understand how different,
one must first compare and contrast some of the very important differences between them, such as
how the Europeans considered the Indians to be extremely primitive and basic, while, considering
themselves civilized. The Europeans considered that they were model societies, and they thought that
the Indians society and culture should be changed to be very similar to their own. The Europeans and

This was a very sharp contrast to the Europeans, whom had for centuries, been the top of their social
hierarchy. In Europe, the women had a very relatively primitive, limited role in society. They were not
allowed to attend or partake in political affairs, with very few exceptions. Now, on the other hand, in
Indian society there was a council of chiefs, whom was all male, but they were appointed by an elder
women. Also, during their deliberation over issues, the males made the final decision, but would be
expelled from the council, if they didn t conclude to the same decision that the elder woman came to.
The women s main job in Indian society, was being in charge of cultivation of, harvest of, and
distribution of food. When the men left to go hunting, women were left to run society. The Europeans
simply believed that the males were far superior to the family, which is why women could not have
jobs, and were left to only clean, cook, and various other household chores. Coming from an
economic standpoint, the Europeans and Indians were such total opposites, it often led to
misunderstanding. Indians had very large trading routes well before the time of European
colonization. Their experience in trade only made it easier to exchange goods with the Europeans. For
Indians, trading was a way to acquire goods they wanted, but also a way to share the wealth of their

The Cross Cultural Communication Has Impacted The Industry
Canadian has become a multicultural country, because the globalization as well as the benefits that
Canadian government provided, more and more people are willing to live in Canada, especially in

Canadian company are facing a problem about the cross cultural communication. In my perspective,
the financial institution is the one of the industry that having the cross cultural communication more
often. This is because if neither people want to neither live here nor work here, they have to deal with
a lot of financial related issue with banks.
Royal Bank of Canada would be a great example to show how the cross cultural communication could
impact the industry. First of all, we could see a fact that more and more banking branch has diversified
staffs from different countries; those employees could speak English as well as at least speaking a

because that RBC is trying to eliminate the language barrier between their employees and customers.
In my experience, in Richmond, nearly every branch has someone who could speak neither Cantonese
nor Mandarin. Those branches are very conscience for people who can t speak English very well, and
also it could give the customer better service. It s not just only benefit for customer, the bank also get a

sacrificing the economy. One group which was especially targeted and discriminated against by the
legal system throughout American history was Asian immigrants. This is evident in naturalization
laws, and the results of Supreme Court cases petitioned by predominantly Chinese as well as other
Asian groups such as Japanese and Hindus. Much of the discrimination against Asian immigrants
dreaming of becoming American citizens was founded in naturalization acts which dictated who was
and who was not allowed to become a citizen. The Naturalization Act of 1790, as well as the act that
replaced it in 1795, dictated that only a free white person may be granted citizenship (Naturalization
Act 1790/1795). Furthermore, the Naturalization Act of 1906, explicitly dictated that The
naturalization of Chinamen is prohibited (citation). Finally, the McCarran Walter Act, also known as
Nationality Act of 1952, which followed World War II sought directly to exclude the Japanese from
becoming American citizens, stating preference for Chinese and Korean immigrants (citation).
Given the ambiguity of these naturalization acts, there were several cases brought to court to clarify
citizenship laws. Specifically, there were many cases brought by people of Chinese descent. While the
outcomes of those cases were primarily against the foreign plaintiffs, there were still instances where
the plaintiffs won. This is best demonstrated by analyzing the two cases: United States v. Wong Kim
Ark and Chang Chan v. Nagle. Wong. Kim Ark was a child born in the United States of parents of
Chinese descent. Under the Naturalization Act of 1790 previously discussed, Wong s parents were not
eligible for U.S. citizenship. As a result, they moved back to China. After returning from a visit to his
parents in 1890, Wong: applied to the collector of customs to be permitted to land, and

Argumentative Essay On Donald Trump
While Liu chooses his ten main ten things to be mostly politics, I will do almost the same. The most
important person in America is always the president, so naturally, I will include Donald Trump on my
list. Secondly, along the lines of politics will be Net Neutrality. I don t have a strong opinion on it
myself, but I do believe it is essential to know the ins and outs of it due to how important the internet
is. The third topic will be pure politics. Hirsh did not include the simple word of politics, so I will add
it myself. The fourth will be Elon Musk, a tech giant. Finally is video games, which is something dear
to my heart, and also ingrained in most of society. This should be learned by any American or soon to
be American due to their importance on America s culture.
Donald Trump, America s current president. He didn t come to power easily. But that is what makes
him so important. Trump s biggest feature was that he was never politically correct, and still is not to
this day. Many people saw this as a good thing to have in a president. He wouldn t be pushed aside by
some foreign country. Trump is also different from the previous president in that he was a large
businessman, he was a billionaire. This means he s probably well versed in the political side of
businesses. However, with this, he also lacks the knowledge of being a politician. He never held an
office anywhere else. He only shares this with five other presidents. Everyone should know how
Trump came to be,

Preventing Firearms
These days, most people do not know how to properly maintain a gun and know where to place one
out of reach of minors. You have to keep the firearm cleaned; and well oiled if not it will rust or
malfunction. Another reason is to make sure to be in a safe and proper environment to prevent hazards
or harm to oneself or others. Firearms need to be well taken cared of through out owning one whether
it has been put away for some time or has been shot multiple times in order to avoid the gun from
jamming or backfiring in your face. One example, imagine hunting and the monster buck you have
been dying to take down finally appears, as you go for the kill shot, you squeeze the trigger and.....

The NRA, gun manufacturer, and I recommend that you know how to properly maintain a firearm in
order to prevent hazards and harm. It is critical for oneself to know how to maintain a firearm whether
it may be a rifle, pistol, or shotgun. The environment desired to perform the rules of this process is to
be in a safe area, specifically away from little children and again to avoid hurt to others and yourself.
The steps I told you will help you from carelessly misgoverning your firearm so it may not jam or
backfire. And to keep it in an appropriate condition to be proud of. Remember you never want to miss
the opportunity to slay that monster buck or the massive gobbler you have longed for. However, to a
hand full of folk the breaking down and reassembling of a firearm can be satisfying. In general, to
keep it clarified it is important to know how to maintain a gun, firearm, or whatever you may call one
in an acceptable condition for the years to come.

Leo Tolstoy s Ivan Ilyich
Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy is an intriguing novel about a man who faces plenty of obstacles during a
painful two years. He comes across a sickness that ends up killing him. No death is ever easy, however
Ivans family was not there to support him when he needed them the most. Gerasim is a character that
came into play and showed Ivan what It feels like to have someone care for him. Tolstoy used many
details throughout his book to give a deeper insight on the message being used. One detail that
illustrated Gerasim characteristics was in chapter 7 page 118: Gerasim did everything easily, willingly,
simply, and with a goodness of heart that moved Ivan Ilyich. Health, strength, and vitality in other
people offended Ivan Ilyich, whereas Gerasim s strength and vitality had a soothing effect on him.
Despite this detail looking extraneous to the text, the meaning of this sentence is a way for the readers
to understand how Gerasim made Ivans finals week more lifelike . ... Show more content on

He was going through a rough patch and no one in his family really cared about him. Before Gerasim
came into the picture, Ivan was completely blinded by the fact that his whole life he was living a lie as
well as the people around him. Gerasim gave Ivan a different view on life and a chance to actually live
a real life. He also showed Ivan what it is like to have someone care for him. He took care of him
while at the same time made him feel like he was truly cared about. Gerasim did almost every chore
that you could think of. With some of these chores not being so pleasant for Gerasim to do, he still did
it with a smile on his face so Ivan would feel better. (chapter 7 page 118). There little details of
Gerasim made the reader be able to fully picture Gerasim and the effect that he had on

Worden V. Edward Gein Case
The lawyer of a man who is being accused of murder contacted me. It was requested that I be the
expert witness and decide if the man, Edward Gein, is mentally fit to stand trial.
(Good) Ed, the second of two boys, was born to George and Augusta Gein on August 27th, 1906.
Augusta detested her husband, and considered him a failure for being an alcoholic who couldn t keep
a job, but she would not divorce him as it would have gone against her religion. The family was living
in La Crosse, WI, but Augusta moved the family to a large farm outside of Plainfield. The farm
became the family s permanent home as it allowed Augusta to keep the boys isolated from outside
influences. George Gein was a raging alcoholic and would physically abuse the boys. ... Show more

The skins from ten human heads were found preserved, and another skin taken from the upper torso of
a woman was rolled up on the floor. There was a belt fashioned from carved off nipples, a chair
upholstered in human skin, the crown of a skull used as a soup bowl, lampshades covered in flesh, a
table propped up by a human shinbones, and a refrigerator full of human organs. The four posts on
Gein s bed were topped with skulls and a human head hung on the wall alongside the nine skinned
faces of women, and decorative bracelets made out of human skin. The stunned searchers also
uncovered a soup bowls fashioned from skulls, a shoebox full of female genitalia, faces stuffed with
newspapers and mounted like hunting trophies on the walls, and a mammary vest flayed from the
torso of a woman. Gein later confessed that he enjoyed dressing himself in this and other human skin
garments and pretending he was his own mother. The scattered remains of an estimated fifteen bodies
were found at the farmhouse when Gein was eventually arrested, but he could not remember how

Ego Vs Ego
In modern society, the influences of ego have been increasingly important for people to address
because the degree of ego determines people s individual and social development. This essay focuses
on the negative influences of high level of ego, which is egotism. It is defined as high level of
selfishness. In the meantime, the discussion of ego and superego is also introduced. Ego is defined as
the true self of personality that makes people look for pleasure and selfish goals while superego refers
to the part which makes people seek for morality and consciousness. Superego is formed in early life
by parental education and can help people by stopping egotism. Egotism influences people s
aggressive behaviors, restrict people s well rounded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The result of this is that they cannot judge or think about this world from an objective point of view.
Egotism can blind people and prevent people in different ways, such as personal development. An
online article on the website of GoodNewsNetwork confirmed why egotism can blind people: the ego
mind isn t contributing to humanity and isn t able to look at the world as a whole. It s only able to look
at a fragmented piece of the whole that it identifies as Me (GoodNewsNetwork 9). So, egotism must
be removed or we will not really be able to reflect on ourselves nor think about other things properly.
Holiday explained the urgency of removing ego: Ego is the enemy of what you want and of what you
have. It repulses advantages and opportunities. It s a magnet for enemies and errors (Holiday 150). If a
person only let the egotism lead himself, he will only take care of himself regardless of other people s
feelings because he will only react to his own emotions and principles for pleasure. This leads to the
third harmful influence of social disconnection. Human s personality is divided into ego and super ego
(Simply Psychology 5). If a person just let the ego rule himself, he will only take care of himself
regardless of thinking about other people s feelings. This can break down his

The Theory Of Self Defense
Self defense is described in the dictionary as; the act of defending one s person when physically
attacked, as by countering blows or overcoming an assailant ( self defense, n.d.). The concept of self
defense appears well defined; however, the tactics allowed to protect oneself have evolved just as
America has. As technology and weaponry advance, the need for clearer laws pertaining to the actions
allowed by an individual need to be reevaluated and clearly communicated. Starting in early colonial
times and moving through history, there is a great deal of differences between the self defense that was
once permitted and what is acceptable and tolerated today.
In early colonial times, Europeans began settling in America. During this time, there was a need for
self defense from both the Native Americans who were already settled on the new land and from the
European invaders who wanted to take it over. Self defense was originally termed the first law of
nature, and citizens were allowed to use deadly force whenever they judged it necessary. This practice
of self defense existed during a time where the individual was considered the ... judge, jury, and
executioner (Cornell, 2013). While being attacked, an individual was allowed to determine the course
of action he or she could take to protect himself or herself whether it be retreating or killing the
perpetrator. During this time, items such as one s own hands, bow and arrows, knives, and weapons of
that sort were used

pusher Wyman Wheeler, who did not believe explanations received. Another negative test performed
and during the new negative test, the pressure came down on a different pipe and not for the drill pipe
and the crew moved on with the rest of the process. According to BP, tool pusher Jason Anderson
justifies the anomalous reading as the bladder effect and had been seen this before (p.6). The negative
test expectation is not necessarily the same since there is no pressure from the drill pipe. The drilling
crew prepared for the cement plug top of the oil well by reopening the blowout preventer and pumping
seawater down the drill pipe to displace the mud and spacer from the riser according to the United
States (2011), Deep water, (p.7) and the crew began discharging the spacer. At 9.20 pm on the fatal
day before the explosion, Anderson responded to another colleague, the negative test went well . Just
after Anderson is discussing with BP representatives who praised the job, the explosion started with
throwing mud. There will be check and balances on all levels for any well designed process, but it is
clear the communication did not happen at all levels. At the initial explosion, there was chaos, and no

Chunking And Long-Term Memory Paper
The mnemonic methods are usually used with long term memory because it is meant to store the
information for later retrieval. For example, if one needs to learn information for an upcoming test one
will prepare or try to relate the information so one can store the information and later use that
information when it is time for the test. The first memory strategy being discussed is going to be
chunking. Chunking is A memory strategy in which the learner combines several small units to create
larger units (Matlin, 2013). Chunking can be used as an organizational strategy. Chunking is meant to
increase the amount of information being retrieved at one time. it is shown that chunking increases the

This period was characterised as a period of migration, battles, food deprivation, and suffering for most of the kingdoms of Southern Africa . • 6. Van Gogh Theory Another theory about the life of Van Gogh was that he did not actually commit suicide but was murdered. A biography of Van Gogh written in 2011 by Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith claimed that Van Gogh was actually shot by a teenage boy named Rene Secretan. Apparently, Rene and his brother would torment Van Gogh very frequently, ranging anywhere from putting salt in his coffee to throwing snakes in his sandbox. On July 27th, while these two boys were out playing with a faulty pistol, a shot went off and struck Van Gogh s abdomen. This writer believes that Van Gogh claimed that the gun shot wound was self inflicted because, in Van Gogh s mind, this young boy was putting him out of his misery. Van Gogh was extremely depressed and felt as though he was a financial burden to his brother, Theo, so by getting shot, and Van Gogh felt as though his absence would make the world a better place. This theory is widely debated, but more people seem to agree with the theory that Van Gogh ended his own life and was not in fact murdered. Some believe that Vincent van Gogh did not actually cut off his own ear in an act of insanity. Two German historians strongly believe that Van Gogh lost his ear during a sword fight with the famous artist that he had a fall out with, Paul Gauguin. Others have doubt about the theory that Van Gogh cut off his ear in response to a blowout with the painter Paul Gauguin. The currently available drugs that interact with opioid receptors include morphine, codeine and naloxone. A Opioid receptors are members of the G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) family, which consists of 7 transmembrane domains linked together by 3 extracellular and 3 intracellular loops (Trescot et al., 2008). The three different classes of opioid receptors are: opioid receptor, opioid receptor and opioid receptor, which are distributed throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems (Trescot et al., 2008). opioid receptors are associated with analgesia, euphoria and physical dependence and are predominately located in the brainstem and thalamus (Trescot et al., 2008). opioid receptors, on the other hand, are primarily found in limbic brain topography, brain stem and spinal cord, and are related to dysphoria and analgesia (Trescot et al., 2008). Although opioid receptor mechanisms are poorly understood, it has been indicated to also have psychomimetic effects (Trescot et al., 2008). Open the doors! the crowd shouts as they propel themselves to split the links; the police sustain them back like a stretching elastic rope. A common scene in the 1890s, citizens confronting banks for their money though banks had none. We want our money! The poor citizens shout out in unison. Major economic recessions of the 1890s, notably the panic of 1893, was heralded by cycles of disbeliefs that destabilized public confidence and weakened the nation. Prominent historians of the website ushistory.com argue that one response to the failures was an expansion in business associations. However, they also showed that; the poorer elements of society assumed they had been ignored during the hard times and then were left at the mercy of the trusts. (1) In reality, the same historians declare; the reform efforts of the last quarter of the 19th century had not been sufficient; new leadership was needed for the next century. This leadership ascended from the National Association of Manufactures (NAM), initiated in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1895. Already affirmed, The United States was in the middle of the recessions. • 10. John Adams Pursuit Of The American Dream Daija Daniels Professor Metz History 101 21 March 2016 The American Dream When people come to America, they come because the want to live the American dream. But what actually is the American dream? Does it truly exist? When one thinks of the American dream they instantly think of the Declaration of Independence because they too also believe that all men are created equal but also believe in the beauty of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. United States citizens as well as immigrants, believed in what the declaration had said and that it would push them closer to an experience of the American dream. Though people are excited to move towards a better life, they become a bit hesitant because they do not know exactly what the American dream is, nor do they know if all people are granted the same chance towards the American dream due to their age, race, their social status, traditions and any other factors. John Adams once stated that this American dream we speak of should give a better life to everyone but only according to their ability. To me this means that everyone deserves a better life but we cannot just give you everything, you have to show what you can do, and how far your American dream goes depends on you, your ability, and how hard you are willing to work. Though your American dream is based upon your ability being African American holds you back, though you have the ability to do great things you will not get the same opportunity due to race. • 12. A View of Christ Through “Goblin Market” Essay example Many authors add personal beliefs and feelings to their literature in order to add depth and allow the reader to understand them in a more intimate way. Christina Rossetti was no different. She added her religious beliefs. Her beliefs were an important piece of her life. Christina Rossetti s poem Goblin Market is an autobiographical view that represents her religious beliefs. She added her religious views to her work in order to strengthen her poem and to allow her reader to understand her. Her beliefs come from a shared religious experience with her mother. These religious experiences stem from Judeo Christian origins. Looking at the past of Rossetti with an analytical view of her poem will help to fully understand the depth at which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her religious beliefs were a huge building block in her life decisions; this also included her writing choices. The strong amount of Christian symbolism and imagery Rossetti uses throughout the poem Goblin Market were no accident, they were merely a way for her to express her Angelic Christian beliefs. There are many messages that can be taken from this poem, depending on the point of view of the reader. The main underlying message that should be taken from this poem by all is one that Dooley talks about in her analysis: One underlying message of Goblin Market is that the world is full of temptations, both sexual and pleasurable, from which women must be saved through God s grace. Reading the poem for just the words on the page the reappearing theme of temptation is prevalent. When Rossetti describes the first appearance of the Goblins the sense of temptation understood: No, said Lizzie, no, no, no; Their offers should not charm us, Their evil gifts would harm us (64 66). Rossetti provides the proof that the offers of the Goblins are evil. The proof Rossetti has given is based on the assumption that there is a sense of honesty and purity in Lizzie. She chose the word harm because it gives the reader the image of physical pain. Physical pain is not evil in and of itself but being a possible side effect of the gifts and the purposeful intention makes the gift evil. Impact Of The Affordable Care Act Policy Background When the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was enacted on March 23rd, 2010, it transformed the lives of people all over the US, in states who expanded. It allowed families to qualify for government programs such as Medicaid, CHIP, and government subsidies, and for young adults to stay on their parent s insurance until the age of 26. The ACA was a sign of relief and good news for all but two groups, lawful permanent residents and undocumented immigrants. In 2012, DACA recipients under the DREAM Act also became part of the groups excluded, leaving more than 6.5 million unable to access affordable care. In order to make a change, the New Mexico Rep. The act is intended to break down barriers for women and their families by expanding the definition of lawfully present instituted under the Social Security Act in the Medicaid Section 1903. By amending subparagraph (A) to expand the definition of lawfully present to include such an individual who is granted deferred action or other federally authorized presence other than as a nonimmigrant (H.R. 2788, 2017). An analysis of the reaction s initial rate at varying molarities of hydrochloric acid and masses of magnesium shot, along with the method of initial rates was used to determine the rate law for the reaction; rate = k (SA of Mg)a [H+]b. It was hypothesized that the reaction would be second order overall. After determining the rate law, the activation energy was determined by changing the temperature at which the reaction took place. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the biggest sources of error was letting some of the hydrogen gas escape during the reaction because the cap of the pressure probe could not be placed on top of the flask quick enough. Not being able to measure all of the change in pressure resulted in a lower rate law because the graph of pressure versus time had a smaller slope. In future experiments, a system in which the reactants could be mixed with the pressure probe already in place would yield much more accurate results because the change in pressure would be higher which would cause the initial rate to be larger. Another source of error in the experiment was keeping the temperature of the trial in the ice bath consistent. If the temperature of the HCl changed from when it was measure to when the reaction took place, the activation energy calculations would have had increased error. Because the HCl was still sitting in the ice bath, if the actual temperature was colder that what we calculated, the activation energy would have been lowered. These wars were called the Crusades and for decades upon centuries, thousands of lives had been lost on both the Christian and Muslim fronts. Historically speaking, there were approximately nine crusades waged upon the Muslims to stop them from encroaching further on European territory, but most of these Crusades were unsuccessful with the advent of strong Muslim empires. Empires such as the Abbasid, the Fatimid, and the Ottoman all had advanced technology with the advent of gunpowder and canons; they were unstoppable and continued to conquer lands up to Vienna and Austria. The main goal of the Crusades was to take back the Holy land of Jerusalem, a sacred site to all people of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and to fight against the unbeilivers (Spielvogel, 329). Each of the three religions held claims about the significance of the city and the surrounding area, relating back to their respective prophets, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed, respectively. Items of cultural interest can include tribal boundaries, religious burial grounds, and historically significant areas. Now, on the other hand, in Indian society there was a council of chiefs, whom was all male, but they were appointed by an elder women. Also, during their deliberation over issues, the males made the final decision, but would be expelled from the council, if they didn t conclude to the same decision that the elder woman came to. • 41. The Pros And Cons Of Immigration And Naturalization Immigration and naturalization seem to be a relentless ever present concern of the American government. The immigration of different European, Jewish, Asian, and Hispanic groups during different eras of American history have continuously raised interest in how the government should balance America s reputation for being a welcoming place where anyone can succeed, without sacrificing the economy. One group which was especially targeted and discriminated against by the legal system throughout American history was Asian immigrants. This is evident in naturalization laws, and the results of Supreme Court cases petitioned by predominantly Chinese as well as other Asian groups such as Japanese and Hindus. Much of the discrimination against Asian immigrants dreaming of becoming American citizens was founded in naturalization acts which dictated who was and who was not allowed to become a citizen. The Naturalization Act of 1790, as well as the act that replaced it in 1795, dictated that only a free white person may be granted citizenship (Naturalization Act 1790/1795). Furthermore, the Naturalization Act of 1906, explicitly dictated that The naturalization of Chinamen is prohibited (citation). Finally, the McCarran Walter Act, also known as Nationality Act of 1952, which followed World War II sought directly to exclude the Japanese from becoming American citizens, stating preference for Chinese and Korean immigrants (citation). Given the ambiguity of these naturalization acts, there were several cases brought to court to clarify citizenship laws. Specifically, there were many cases brought by people of Chinese descent. While the outcomes of those cases were primarily against the foreign plaintiffs, there were still instances where the plaintiffs won. This is best demonstrated by analyzing the two cases: United States v. Wong Kim Ark and Chang Chan v. Nagle. Wong. Kim Ark was a child born in the United States of parents of Chinese descent. Under the Naturalization Act of 1790 previously discussed, Wong s parents were not eligible for U.S. citizenship. As a result, they moved back to China.
