violence due to its colonial history and the contemporary socio economic conditions that have arisen
out of its history. The favelas of Brazil are an example of the extreme violence of all forms that exist
in Brazilian society. Through her book The Spectacular Favela: Violence in Modern Brazil, Erika
Robb Larkins makes a case on how the violence present in the favela of Rocinha have grown to

Larkins examines how the varieties of tourisms that exist and the response to the tourism in order to
illustrate how violence is commodified and reinforced. While many scholars that look at the tourism
of the favela theorize that it is the consumption of the spectacle of poverty that is driving the

crunchy leaves, the warm sunlight through the tall trees of the forest, being outdoors for hours and

and also is my favorite season because Halloween, pumpkin spice or minty drinks with treats also get

forests provide useful products, but they also influence the Earth s climate and are home to a

dioxide put out by humans, the carbon dioxide simply remains in the atmosphere.

I went to Dry Tortugas National Park this summer. It s the farthest Florida Key and is at least a 70 mile
boat or plane trip. This year is the park s 100th anniversary and I was so excited, and scared, to go. It

park unique is that 99% of it is under water and since the water is so shallow there are many

The cochlea contains thousands of outer and inner hair cells that transduce the mechanical energy of
sound into electrical energy and then deliver that electrical energy to the auditory nerve. The hair cells
provide information about the frequency and intensity of the sound. The auditory nerve then transmits
sound information to the brain, where a variety of complex pathways help us decipher what was
actually heard (Jacob, n.d.). Therefore, much of hearing as we perceive it is under the control of the
brain rather than the ear. Most commonly, sensorineural hearing loss is caused by hair cell damage in

sensorineural hearing loss can have a variety of causes (Jacob, n.d.). A lot of different causes will lead
to different symptoms.
These symptoms include trouble following group conversations, muffled conversation sounds, and

interesting advertisement. Nike just became the new official sponsor of the National Basketball
Association (NBA) and it needed an advertisement to excite the fans of the league and get them
excited for the new season. Nike took the spot from one of its top rivals in the athletic wear world,
Adidas, so they needed to put out a strong front and show people that they were just as good if not
better than their competitor. Nike is an extremely well known distributor for athletic wear and sporting
goods. In the commercial, Nike uses a fictional person who goes by the name of Donte Grand and is
an extremely skilled basketball player. He grows up in the inner city and does not come from a lot, but
