Diamond Head Trail Recreationists and Their Environmental...
A management approach to Diamond Head trail recreationists and their environmental impact
Volcanoes are an important part of my life. As soon as I learned that my husband was being stationed
in Hawaii I knew that I needed to hike Diamond Head. Aside from volcanoes, I am also hugely
passionate about education and conservation which makes maintaining the integrity of Diamond Head
a critical goal of mine. Selfishly, I want to be able to hike Diamond Head for years to come. This
paper will discuss how the demographics of recreationists and their environmental impacts on
Diamond Head can possibly be addressed by management approaches. Diamond Head trail is hiked by
about a million people per year. The Hawaii Department of Land and ... Show more content on

The small percentage of local people who use the trail choose to hike in the morning for exercise and
meditation. The cost to enter the trail is currently $1 and 1,500 2,500 people visit daily (DLNR, 2000)
which is a substantial economic benefit; according to the US Army Corps of Engineers, visitors who
spend money contribute to the local economies by supporting jobs and generating income (US Army
Corps of Engineers, 2006). The user profile contributes to the environmental impact on Diamond
Head. Studies conducted on visitors participating in outdoor recreation concluded that respondents
were not particularly aware of how their recreation contributed to environmental impacts (Chapter 3)
which is displayed by the users at Diamond Head since the vast majority of hikers are unfamiliar with
Hawaii and past experience with any activity is what influences whether people are appropriate in
their recreational pursuits (Hammit Cole, 1998). According to Yara Lamadrid Rose, coordinator of
Diamond Head State Monument, erosion from foot traffic has caused Diamond Head to decrease in
height; it has eroded about two feet in 10 years on certain areas of the trail (Watanabe, 2010). The
erosion has resulted in the trail surface becoming extremely uneven (DLNR, 2000). Unrestricted
access to the interior of the crater has also caused obvious scarring from soil breaking away

Odysseus And Moses In The Aeneid
Moses in Exodus and Aeneas in the Aeneid are the closest to each other with regarding leadership.
Both men were perceived to be the best leaders for their people without thinking of their own personal
gain. Both of these leaders began their missions when their people were put into serious danger, which
put both of these men true leadership abilities to the test. Aeneas and Moses were two different types
of leaders when it came down to it. Moses and Aeneas both have to deal with the concept that they
both have no sense of free will . They are both being constantly being toyed and played with by their
different version of Gods. Truly, neither one of them are leaders because they are being lead by their
personal gods way of living and doing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aeneas is already made to be a powerful heroic figure by nature. At the end of the Aeneid he
temporarily loses his heroism and his pietas. The burning of Troy guards his ability to perform like a
natural hero he is. I can tell that his heroism will be an inner struggle within himself. Aeneas feels like
he is no longer in control of his own destiny. This makes him more of a hero than a leader. He has to
deal with battle everywhere he goes. Aeneas shows his true heroism and leadership when he choses
his duties as a leader over his love for Dido. He has to tell Dido he is duty bound (973). Aeneas shows
compassion and love, which are some rare traits in heroes. To me, this makes him more of a hero
because he can show his emotions. He felt very guilty and thought he was the reason she took her on
life. Moses is more of a leader than a hero to me. Moses started out as an outsider because of where he
was raised. The same people who pushed him to the outside were the same people he had to lead. He
wads able to push past the barriers of being scared and the feeling that no one would listen to him. He
was able to lead the people and gain their trust from the Lord s word. Some would say that Moses is a
hero because he split the Red Sea and led the Israelites to freedom. Moses had his doubts and fears
when he is asked to do the job of the Lord intended in him to do. Good leadership is the ability to
bring people to peace. Moses exemplifies instruction in his words and

Film Performance Review
Music 111 Film Concert Review
On February 26th, 2017 I watched the Neil Young Heart of Gold concert with my dad. It was a DVD
recording containing 20 tracks of his live performance. We watched the concert in our home theatre
room through a sound system that captured the quality of the concert.
The Performers:
Young is a Canadian born artist who grew up in the prairies. This concert was recorded after Young
suffered an aneurism and had to undergo surgery. Neil Young is the heart and soul of this concert.
However, many other musicians that he deems as friends surrounded him on stage. These include Ben
Keith on the steel guitar, Grant Boatwright on guitar and vocals, Spooner Oldham on the keyboard,
Pick Rosas on bass guitar, Emmylou Harris ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was the perfect location for this concert as Young is a musical icon. The size of the venue was just
the right size to capture the heartfelt renditions of Young s songs. To those unfamiliar with the venue,
it appears like a large church more than a huge concert hall, providing for a quiet, intimate setting
perfect for the acoustic instruments and voices to be enjoyed. The appreciative audience gave
enthusiastic applause after each song performed; however, we are never given a glimpse of them. The
stage itself was static throughout, backed only with the words Prairie Wind . The concert did not rely
on visual effects to entertain, but solely on the musical abilities of the entertainers on stage.
Analysis:
This concert was fantastic. Each song that Young sang aloud me to envision myself being there, his
ability to formulate such genuine lyrics and perform them with such passion should me that he
performs because he really loves it, unlike some performances you see from many popular artists
these days where they are just there for the big production. If I were given the chance I would
definitely go see Neil Young in concert, as I think it would be one that I would forget. To compare
Young to other artist is difficult because he is truly one of a kind in both lyricism and his authentic

Entry Strategy
Market Overview
The Federative Republic of Brazil is Latin America s biggest economy and is the fifth largest country
in the world in terms of land mass and population with about 192 million people. Brazil s economy,
the 6th largest in the world, grew 2.7% in 2011. Growth slowed due to reduced demand for Brazilian
exports in Europe and Asia, despite solid domestic demand and a growing middle class.
During the past decade, the country has maintained macroeconomic policies that controlled inflation
and promoted economic growth. Inflation was at 6.5% in 2011, and urban unemployment reached a
historic low of 6.0%. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ethical Issues In Corrections
Whenever a correctional officer utilizes her or his power to take away civil rights of a prisoner, the
victim (prisoner) can file a lawsuit against the correctional officer to recoup legal expenses, collect
damages and end the violation. Wardens and managers can also be responsible for the action of a
correctional officer, even if they have no knowledge about it. Funds shortages do not give managers
the excuse of not providing the required training to their staff and correctional officers. The prison
administering local governments are also responsible for hurtful or damaging action (Clear, Cole
Reisig, 2011, pp.230 231).
Lawsuits, claims or litigation can be minimized by developing certain criteria for the operations and
practices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First reason, they demonstrate and display aggressive standards for prison managing, which aid in
avoiding claims and lawsuit cases. If inmates experiencing problems during incarceration and the
prison administration were following the standard procedures, they will not be held responsible.
Second reason, guidelines add a base foundation by which management can check and choose the
performance of the staff. Their requirement is just to decide if the staffs are abiding by functional
guidelines. Third reason, codes assist the progress of preparation and assessment of prison programs
by providing program managers a goal to achieve in their work (Clear, Cole Reisig, 2011, pp.230
231).
As a correctional officer, it requires me to follow the rules, regulations, and policies of the prison
before I can exercise any right to be enforced on prisoners or inmates. A correctional officer desire for
the needed training in order for him to be in charge, it is very rear that the correctional officer receives
enough training to manage or run a unit in the prison system. All these are difficulties that the
correctional officer might face and could prevent him or her from exercising any privileges unless the
required training is being provided, this will always be a problem, besides the legal rights of the

How Have New Emphases And Interpretative Lenses Is History
How have new emphases and interpretative lenses emphasizing history from below affected the more
traditional subfields of political, military, diplomatic, and sectional history and how do they affect
world history. During the past century these four subfields have evolved within themselves to rise
from their traditional methodologies of study to incorporating social and cultural historiography to
better analyze their subject matter; while turning from an inner study, as it applies to the United States,
towards a more world view. The authors of this week s reading project s a theme or commonality that
has affected their subfield from the turn of the century until now. They all mention Frederick Jackson
Turner s reading of his famous paper, The Significance of the Frontier in American History, where he
argued that frontier settlement, and not institutional and spiritual inheritance from the Old World,
accounted for the origins and peculiar development of American democracy. This was the first time
interpretations of social and cultural were utilized in the studies of particular subfields that started the
Progressive era that lasted until the start of World War II. During this period studies were from the
bottom up versus the old top to bottom approach; going from the great men and great events, to the
study of the ordinary people and incorporating previously neglected groups like women and black.

School Life In High School
When I think about my freshman year to my junior year there are things that have been the same and
things that have been different. I have experienced a lot in the couple years I have been at senior, and I
have lots to say about the high school life.
The one thing that I would say never changed and kept the ram fam together is Nasty Nation. Nasty
Nation is what we call ourselves at games and many different activities. We have a twitter page that is
called Nasty Nation. I followed it my freshman year and it told me when the games were, what the
theme was and if I didn t go to the game they would post the score as the game is going on. The games
were always my favorite thing to go to in high school. I would dress up to my fullest ability and cheer
on the rams.
Another thing that never changed was the level of stress I had each year. Between homework, work,
school, family, friends, and a boyfriend life was not the easiest sometimes. I have been super happy,
anger, and I have cried at least accouple times in the past three years from being here. I m not going to
lie I had come to the point accouple times where I wanted to just give up and drop out, but I knew that
would not be a very smart thing to do. The amount of stress coming into high school was there and
coming out it s still going to be there.
The last thing that never truly changed was the people that go to Dubuque Senior High school. I am
graduating with the same people that I went to middle school with and some

Analyzing Climate Change
Climate change has become one of the most important issues on the global political agenda. This is
largely due to the fact that the developments that influence climate change also impact the way in
which life is conducted at local, regional, national, and global level.
The present paper aims to analyze climate change from a general perspective with due consideration
for aspects that eventually define climate change as an essential challenge as well as for humanity in
its entirety and for the individual as a single element of society.
The first part of the research provides background information on what climate change is, what are its
most important constituent elements, and what are its implications. Climate change represents in
essence a global challenge that can only be tackled at the global level. This is why it is important to
consider the views and perspectives of global organizations such as the United Nations, through the
United Nations Environment Program among other organisms under the coordination of the United
Nations. Climate change has been at the center of vivid debates in recent decades particularly because
it affects all strata of human life, from food supplies to education, health, and sustainable
development. Its complex impact on human life makes climate change an all the more important
aspect to be taken into account by policy makers, world leaders, and decision takers around the world.
The second part of the research focuses on the initiatives

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Accounting System
Accounting is an essential part in order for a business to operate, no matter the size is big or small,
accounting is still needed and equally important. Basically, accounting is dealing with the records of

My Favorite Hymn is In Christ Alone
My favorite hymn is In Christ Alone. By most standards it is a modern hymn. While many Christian
hymns date back to the early church, the two songwriters of In Christ Alone began work in 2000 and
completed their work two years later. Although it lacks historical prestige, this hymn s grandeur,
strong lyrics and musical melody elevate it to a status often only given the ancient songs. In Christ
alone is undoubtedly a very influential hymn to many in my generation. So, because of its personal
impact on my life I have chosen to name it my favorite hymn. In the autumn of 2000, songwriter Keith
Getty (Irish) and musician Stuart Townend (English) met at a worship event in England. The two soon
became good friends and began to write traditional hymns together. Their work includes How Deep
the Father s Love, My First Love, and The King of Love. However their most famous hymn by far is
In Christ Alone. The hymn s writer Stuart Townend wanted to express the theme of the life, death and
resurrection of Christ and His ultimate sufficiency (Townend). Once released, In Christ Alone did just
that, gaining immediate popularity among traditional Christian music purists as well as fans of more
contemporary Christian music. In 2003, a contemporary Christian group, The Newsboys, released a
version of In Christ Alone in their album Adoration: The Worship Album that topped the Christian
Music charts in the United States. Christian groups Phillips, Craig, and Dean, and Avalon

Pressure vs. Number of Particles Lab Report
Introduction: The experiment deals with many different parts and one of them is gas, a substance that
moves freel through the air and their particles are stread farther away from each other when compared
to the other states of matter. The difference between the states of matter are how close the particles are
to each other. The experiment was completed to find how pressure affects the number of particles.
Pressure, which is the force exerted on an object by physical contact, was used to apply force into the
pressure sensor. A pressure sensor measures the amount of force can object has and this will tell us
how the pressure is affecting the number of particles. Also the volume, of the pressure ... Show more

Violent Programs on Television Lead to Aggressive Behavior...
Since 1982, the National Institute of Mental Health, along with other reputable health organizations
has collected data that connects media violence, with violent acts. Conclusions deduced from this data
prove that violent programs on television lead to aggressive behavior by children and teenagers who
watch those programs. Television violence affects young people of all ages, all socio economic levels,
and all levels of intelligence.
Today s children view vast amounts of violence on television. A steady diet of death, killings, torture,
and other grotesque acts may be viewed on any day by vulnerable youth. When children are young,
they are impressionable to all their surroundings, and especially vulnerable to what they see. ... Show

A particular focus of the study was the media s portrayal of violence and the public s personal
experiences. Television is the primary source of media for most American citizens, and therefore
television violence is the primary source for viewing violence in both adults and children. This report
gave evidence of the media s ability to socialize the viewers to the norms and values of the culture.
Previously the ability of television to do so had been disputed that the media was seen only as a re
enforcer and not a creator.
Research performed by Albert Bandura concluded there were strong short term effects of exposure to
violence in the media that affects children. In his studies, children watched models perform aggressive
acts against a doll. These acts of aggression were presented under three circumstances: 1. the children
saw the model rewarded for aggressive behavior, 2. the children saw the model receive no
consequences for their aggressive behavior, and 3. the children saw the model punished. All three
groups were able to imitate the aggressive behavior that contradicts early notions that the influences of
violence were not negative if the violence was not glorified.

The Literal Interpretation Of Yann Martel s Life Of Pi
Yann Martel writes his novel Life of Pi so that the story can be interpreted in two ways in the end. One
is a realistic and literal interpretation; the other is one full of images and figurative meaning. The first
story involves wild animals, a zebra, a hyena, an orangutan and a 450 pound Bengal tiger. The second
story, which is the story Pi tells the insurance workers, is the realistic one, involving a sailor, cook, his
mother and himself. The stories are almost parallel to one another but the story involving the animals
is the true story. Many terrible events occur on and off the lifeboat, and to survive as long as Pi did is
nearly impossible. Pi admits, without Richard Parker, [he] wouldn t be alive today to tell you [his]
story (164). If the story without the animals were true, how could Pi have survived so long without
Richard Parker, if the tiger is the reason he is alive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is easy to claim this situation is a hallucination, but after Richard Parker kills the man and Pi
restores his sight, he says, I won t describe what the accumulation of human and animal skeletons,

the French cook and it could not have been Pi, in that weakened state who killed him. Pi also sees the
poor man s butchered, dismembered body lay[ing] on the floor of the boat (255). He sees the man s
corpse after he regains his sight and the evidence of the skeleton and the corpse represent that the
animals must have been there. He did not only see a human skeleton, but the remaining animal

The Imaginary Institution of India
The Imaginary institution of Indian: Politics and Ideas Ch5 8 As you dive into the text of Sudipta
Kaviraj s The Imaginary institution of Indian: Politics and Ideas (2010) he begins to already question
the sense of Nationalism. Indian s didn t really have any sense of nationalism up until the British came
to power. Kaviraj states it is often essential to ask whose history this is, in the sense of history for
whom rather than history of whom. (Page 170) Because it depends on which said the story is told. In
earlier periods of India they felt a weaker version of patriotism which was an ancestor for Indian
nationalism (Page 174) which would be different from today s patriotism and that there is no
connection between being patriotic and being Indian. He says that the consciousness becomes
nationalist before it becomes India s only because they happen to realize it later in time.
Kaviraj regards India to be closely parallel to what Gramsci said about Italian nationalism. There are
two conflicts, One of memorialism of Italy s Roman past to what it is today and, two today s
modernity and the construction of the Italian identity. He compares the two because Italian history had
some similar influences to that of colonialism. Gramsci says that there is no concrete line in which
Italian culture is connected by, the only continuity they have is just propaganda. Each century in India
had its own literature. Any time they would summarize a principle of the past they would only

Apple s Iphone 5 Personal Evaluation
Apple s iPhone 5 Personal Evaluation Personal research and evaluations are excellent ways to
discover pertinent information about a product that a consumer wishes to purchase. In addition,
reviews come from multiple sources: experts or consumers, both play an important role to the

Controversy of Privacy and the Internet
Privacy is dead get over it , according to Steve Rambam, a privacy investigator who specializes in
Internet privacy cases, this is how he considers privacy to be in today s society. He is just another
entity living in the midst of a high technology society to whom privacy seems to be dead when
reaching the Internet. With all the traffic on the Internet, the risk of private information falling into the
wrong hands is excessive, and with all the advances in computer technology the rate of privacy loss is
increasing as well. With the right knowledge and experience in technology anything on the Internet
can be access by anyone causing an individual s privacy to be exposed and violated..
Internet privacy, a subset to computer privacy, involves the mandate of personal privacy concerning
the storing, repurposing, provision to third parties, and displaying of information relating to oneself
via Internet. The controversy of privacy concern has being articulated form the beginnings of large
scale computer sharing. According to Maureen Dorney in her article, Privacy and the Internet she
states that in 1993 there were already 83% of Americans that were concerned with threats to personal
privacy. In fact, this was not the only year in which data was collected. She adds that in 1970 there
were an increasing number of populations being threat of privacy violations. Since then, the
controversy prompted several members of congress to call for increased privacy protection for data

Autobiography Of Anne Moody
Anne Moody did not want to give up what she relied on, and she fought for her rights with everything
she had in her. Her willingness to stand for what she thought was right was always there and the
reluctance of her family to fight as well as her confidence that she could be regarded as equal within
the white community were reasons that sustained her transition into the activist. Throughout her
childhood, she was taught about social norms that could not be broken by blacks if they wanted to
gain the semblance of acceptance. However, she always questioned the arguments as to why the black
community had to be segregated. And even among the black community she belonged to, there was a
division between the darker and lighter skinned blacks.

Sula by Toni Morrison
Sula by Toni Morrison, is a book about a black female and the various events throughout her life. The
majority of these events were at the fault of Sula, but because of her past she did not know, or could
not understand any better. Sula became the woman that she was because of the people and events that
were around her during her childhood. When Sula was a child, she grew up faster than most children
because of the things that she saw and heard, so it was almost as if she had a loss of childhood. When
Sula was only three years old, her father died. Although this may not have had a direct effect on Sula
because of how young she was, her mother, Hannah, was left without a husband and with an
unquenchable thirst for maleness (Bukisa). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sula s relationship with Nel was another major factor in her maturation into a woman. Sula and Nel
were like each other s support systems (Bukisa). Throughout their childhood, Nel always supported
Sula and vice versa, even though they were extremely different. Nel was conservative and brought up
in a relatively stable home by a proper, lady like, mother, the way their society expected, while Sula
was raised in a home where people constantly came and went, by a mother who slept with different
men on various occasions. These two completely different worlds were what drew these two young
girls to each other (Bukisa). They were opposite in more than just their upbringing. Sula was rougher
and tougher than Nel was, but her emotions were also inconsistent. Nel, on the other hand, was quiet,
and normally had a steady emotion (Bukisa). It was as if these two girls were each one half of the
same whole, making them inseparable. During their childhood, they shared everything, including
boyfriends. All of these factores contributed to Sula s personality and actions as an adult. Sula as an
adult had problems with love, recognizing boundaries, and fitting in. Sula lacked the ability to love
because of her family, mainly her mother. Hearing Hanna say that she loved Sula but did not like her
made Sula believe that love was something that was forced upon

Abstract
The following paper includes such topics of normal and abnormal psychology. Discussed with these
topics are definitions of each as well as the similarities and differences between them both. Included
here also is a discussion and explanation of two mental disorders and two mental illnesses all taken
from the psychology perspective. As the reader will see, normal and abnormal psychology as well as
the mental disorders and illnesses are common issues that could happen to any person or affect any
family at any time. In addition to learning about the disorders and illnesses the reader will also learn
about possible therapies for treating these mental disorders and illnesses. Mental disorders and mental

Dependent Personality Disorder deals with extremely passive individuals. They show an extreme need
to be taken care of, they fear separation, and tend to show clinging behavior. This is a long term
condition in which people depend solely on others to meet their physical and emotional needs. People
with this disorder do not trust their own abilities to make decisions (Bruce Pfohl, M.D.) No specific
treatment for this disorder although psychotherapy and medications can be helpful. Individuals with
Avoidant Personality Disorder are subject to inadequacies in social situations that may cause
embarrassment, anxiety, or rejection. They are over sensitive to any kind of criticism and they tend to
develop some kind of phobia that stems from this disorder. They tend to live alone; however they can
manage limited contact with family and friends (Market, 2008). The recommended treatment for this
disorder is psychotherapy.
Similarities among each School of Thought for Mental Illness Therapy Each school of thought in
psychology has its own approach to therapy for mental disorders; however there are some similarities.
In psychoanalysis there are two types of therapy psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy;
cognitive and behaviorisms have several courses of therapy: systematic desensitization, exposure
technique, operant technique, participatory modeling, skills training, and cognitive therapy. In
Humanism two types of

Studying Real Time Application On College Student For...
In this paper, we are going to develop real time application on college student for automatic detection
and recognition of student during academics, followed by display of personal information of students.
This application makes proper use of CCTV camera for real time face detection of students of
particular college. The proposed application can be divided into four major steps. In first step, each
person in the image is detected. In the second step, a face detection algorithm detects faces of each
person. In third step, we use a face recognition algorithm to match the faces of persons in the captured
image with the database of students faces which also stores personal as well as academic information
of each student. In final step, the face of student along with his/her personnel information will be
displayed on screen to the user when the image captured by CCTV camera contains any student image
of present college. The college administrator as well as faculty members can use this application to
identify students and also to distinguish students from outsiders.
Keywords Real time face detection, face recognition, denoising
I. INTRODUCTION

Bohemian Rhapsody Rhetorical Devices
Queen s Bohemian Rhapsody , written by lead singer Freddie Mercury, is an elaborate and intriguing
best selling song from 1975. There is much speculation about what this song could be about, but there
is a general understanding that no matter it is about, the song is used to express Mercury s feelings.
Throughout the song, there are various shifts in tone and music style, which are very important in
demonstrating Mercury s emotions toward himself and others. The song is symbolic of Mercury s
emotional struggles, and through various rhetorical strategies he conveys his confused and fragile
emotions to the listeners. The introduction of the song causes the listeners to feel sympathy and
sadness through Mercury s ashamed and melancholy tone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Like the first section, Mercury uses rhetorical questions, but in this section, they serve a very different
purpose. The rhetorical questions help to emphasize Mercury s anger by taking the form of
accusations: So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye? So you think you can love me and
leave me to die? (Mercury) The music combined with the accusations help to cause the listeners to
feel some of Mercury s anger at those who have hurt him and put him in to his current emotional state.
This section goes on to beg those who hurt him to stop and leave him alone. By repeating a few
words, Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here (Mercury) he enforces the idea that he urgently
needs to leave the relationship that is hurting him and causing him all this pain. Overall, the section is
energetic and strong, and through the use of repetition and rhetorical questions, brings the listeners
similar feelings of ire and desperation due to hurtful

The Significance Of Physical Education Essay
The Significance of Physical Education in American Schools
Review
Hommes, Tiffany J., Bemidji State University, USA
Background Many children in America do not receive the needed amount of physical activity needed
to maintain a healthy weight. Approximately17% of children are obese (Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation, 2016) and one in three children are overweight or obese (American Heart Association,
2016). This is a local and national emergency that needs to be addressed to keep children healthy,
prevent morbidities, and control the costs that are associated with being overweight or obese. Pre
diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and hypertension in children is at an all time high. However, research
indicates that only 3.8 percent of American elementary schools provide daily physical education
(Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2007). This paper will discuss the importance of daily physical
education in our schools. There is an abundance of support to provide daily physical education in our
schools. First Lady Michelle Obama is leading a national initiative called Let s Move to reverse the
childhood obesity epidemic. One of the initiatives in Let s Move is to increase physical activity (Let s
Move!) In fact, Healthy People 2020 has objectives to increase the portion of the America s private
and public schools that require daily physical education (U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services 2011). There is also a national initiative, the FIT Kids Act of

CONTROL PARADIGM
This move toward abstinence, sobriety, moderation, and puritanical thoughts about sex is more than a
trend. It s a practical program that expands the limits of law enforcement, the authority of employers,
and ultimately its own parameters. Big Brother IS looking over your shoulder. Across American
society one sees effort after effort to restore social cohesion, re assert authority, and basically get a
grip on the energies that have been unleashed over the past quarter century. Universities are re
imposing curfews as well as rules on cohabitation, unsupervised parties, fraternity hazing, and sexual
conduct. Legislatures across the country are controlling Internet smut, tobacco advertising, and
labeling violent TV programming, video games, and rock and rap lyrics as bad. Cities across the
nation have imposed controls on panhandling, vagrancy, public drinking, and littering. Community
policing programs have given law enforcement more day to day authority in high crimeareas. Cameras
and scanners are everywhere. Are these the benign acts of a civilized society, or have the authorities
taken their powers too far? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It usually begins with an actual problem, for example, teen pregnancy or the real dangers of drugs, but
while an obvious response might be sex and drug education (and not the lies perpetrated by programs
such as DARE), or birth control and teaching safe drinking habits. Instead, we are told that the best
way to solve teen pregnancy is abstinence (which instills guilt about sexual activity), or that the best
way to curb drug use is to scare people and to lie to them. Real healthproblems, such as AIDS and
STDs become the occasion for wholesale sexual purges, and real problems with drugs are couched in
an abuse paradigm, as if to do drugs means only to ABUSE them, and to talk about safe drug use is
profane. Something else is going

The Contributions of Doctor Gordon Buck
What determines if a person has left their footprint in the sand? What does a person have to do in
order for their name to be remembered? A person has made their mark in history when their action
affects how people live and think in the years to come. History is made when an individual has greatly
influenced the way people live on a day to day basis. A person has made history when it is apparent
that they have greatly shaped the way people think and the thoughts that they have about the world
around them. With this being said, a man named Gurdon Buck has shaped the way the medical field is
being viewed today. Gurdon Buck, also known as the father of modern plastic surgery , is recognized
for being the first doctor to include pre and post operative photographs into his publications. Doctor
Buck is acknowledged for being the first person to photograph the development of his operations and
the first to make steady changes over several operations. Gurdon Buck is also given credit to for the
use of tiny sutures he used during his operations that would minimize scarring. Doctor Buck has made
it possible for several surgeries to take place today because of the knowledge he has passed on. Some
of these surgeries include cleft palate and lip repair. With Gurdon performing so many challenging
surgeries, he coined a term called Buck s Extension which refers to a way of treating a fractured bone.
Doctor Gurdon Buck was born May 4th, 1807 in New York City and died March 6th, 1877

Economics In The Great Recession
Intro: Studying Economics in the backdrop of the Great Recession emphasised the power that
Economics leverages upon global society. My lack of understanding of the Economic mechanisms
behind the recession led me to read Krugman s End This Depression Now , and attend the Cambridge
University Marshall Society Conference, The Power of Policy . The most engaging debate was that
between Madsen Pirie of the Adam Smith Institute, and Lord Skidelsky. Both these sources introduced
me to alternative perspectives regarding the causes and effects of the recession; however, what I found
most interesting was witnessing the polarizing beliefs of the most efficient way to respond to the UK s
recession, both from highly respected academics. In Krugman s opinion ... Show more content on

I particularly enjoyed reading The Big Short, as I enjoyed learning about the complex financial
products such as asset backed Collateralized Debt Obligations, including mortgage backed securities
which were arguably the primary catalyst behind the financial crisis of 2007. I was also the leader of
my school s Bank of England Target 2.0 Challenge team, in which we developed a monetary policy
recommendation based upon our assessment of current market conditions. This led me to subscribe to
economics sources (including Reuters Daily Investor Briefing and Financial Times Lex) and
highlighted the leverage that Economics holds upon government policy and politics.
Maths/Uni Para: Shadowing an economist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, made me increasingly

Global Warming Is The Most Important Environmental Issue...
The topic of global warming as a result of increased atmospheric CO2 concentration is arguably the
most important environmental issue that the world faces today. CO2 has always been in the
atmosphere as a greenhouse gas keeping the global atmospheric temperature at life sustainable levels
by preventing the infra red radiation to leave the atmosphere (CO2 Capture and storage, 2016).
However due to human interference and the burning of fossil fuels (as shown by the following
equation), the rate at which atmospheric CO2 concentrations is rising has been increasing in the last
50 years as evident on Graph 1 above as well as the equation below. C(s) + O2 (g)→ CO2 (g) The
CO2 unless it is captured and stored, is usually released into the atmosphere increasing its
concentration (CO2 Capture and storage, 2016). The increased atmospheric concentration of CO2
leads in undesirable phenomena such as global warming and climate change. This climate was
characterised by higher average global temperatures, an increased number of extreme weather events,
potential rises in sea level, and possible extinction of plant and animal species due to habitat loss
(Judd, 2016). This investigation will analyse the chemical background behind the many methods of
capturing and storing of atmospheric CO2. It will explain the different perspectives of Carbon Capture
and Storage (CCS). Finally conclusions will be drawn on whether Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)
can be successful in reducing carbon

Addressing Business And It Alignment For Future Business...
Addressing Business and IT Alignment for Future Business Success There are questions that a
company must address to help guarantee future success. Listed in this text are some questions that I
will attempt to address: First, I will address how should companies prioritize the demands of various
business units as they relate to IT; some factors that drive IT decisions; who or what is the moving
force behind IT decisions; types of efficiency metrics and effectiveness metrics that IT should use; and
issues with using financial metrics to evaluate IT. How do companies prioritize the demands of
various business units as they relate to IT? To begin with, a companies should align IT and business
objectives. In the past, IT departments have used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to CIO magazine, 60% of the total IT budget goes towards infrastructure assets within most
companies; therefore, proper rationalization enables IT executives to identify sources of money to
fund other strategic initiatives. Of course companies would want to implement new initiative while
lessoning the chances for failure. Risk Reduction solutions allow information technology executives to
reduce risk to their business operations from internal and external IT factors. The risk from internal
factors is primarily attributed to poor planning and execution of projects and initiatives. The risk from
external factors can be from competitors, suppliers, or unsatisfied customers. What drives IT
decisions? Productivity is usually the main reason that drives IT decisions within companies.
Companies invest in computers and devices in information technology because they believe those
investments will improve their productivity. However, the impact of IT cost on a company s
productivity is not always easily apparent and sometimes onerous to quantify. IT security investments
are another factor that drives IT decisions. Security is another reason that drive IT decisions.

Pessimism And Fears Of Ezra Pound s Brother Wasp Song
Moreover, readers should remember the fact that Ezra Pound wrote that while he was in a cage as
Pisa, he was arrested for treason. Therefore, the poems he wrote in the cage, sometimes show his
losses, his internal conflicts, pessimism and fears:
DAKRUON in Greek means weeping. Here, he clearly expresses his fears that he won t be able to see
Giudecca (an island and canal in Venice), Ca Foscari (a Venetian palace, on the Grand Canal), and
Desdemona (the Palazzo Contarini Fasan on the Grand Canal was sometimes called this).
Immediately after, watching Brother Wasp building, Ezra Pound seems to be fascinated. Despite the
fact that Brother Wasp is never thought as an important creature in human world, it is as important as
human beings, in fact it may be more important because Pound believes that it is ... Show more

Observing Brother Wasp, Pound also feels fascinated by the perfection he saw, and brings his own

May 1914 was written by Yeats (Terrell 462). Yeats who wanted to be away from London for a while,
asked Pound to be his secretary. In the stanza Wordsworth refers to the volumes which Pound was
supposed to read as a part of his secretarial duties because Yeats eyes were weak (Terrell 462). Life
with Yeats in a four room Sussex cottage was pleased and tranquil. He described life at Stone Cottage
nostalgically as follows:
Pound recalls Yeats voice, sounding like wind in the chimney as he reads his poem The Peacock,
Pound creates a kind of rhythmic sound by adding syllables to the word peacock in order to present
how Uncle William in other words Yeats would utter

How I Bluffed My Way Through College Essay
In this analysis of the two core reading How I bluffed my Way Through College by Kate Harding and
The Idea of a University by Roger Scruton we will look at the differences and the similarities of the
ideas and thoughts of the two authors. Both authors discuss the advantages to Universities but they
differ in how universities can be a challenge to students. Scruton refers to the old university and how
they were grand and important to anyone considering further education,(Scruton,2010), but he fails to
bring a personal aspect from students. Where Harding explains that however Education is important it
comes with stress and some down falls if not completely done in the right way. She explains how
college and her choices made things harder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She recalls the struggles, the fun, her failures and even her success in the end (Harding, 2011). The
personal story shows the real road it takes with decisions we make when entering college, Harding
wrote that she began college because she felt it was expected of her (Harding, 2011). College students
often make choices based on what they perceive as pressure to do so by others like councilors, parents
and even society. They enter college thinking this is what my plan should look like and not making
choices that are the best for them. Harding said that in the end we all become graduates of one of the
finest universities in the world and already, nobody much cared how we got there (Harding,2011). To
me this shows that even if you pass by the skin of your teeth, you can still fail in the end. A diploma is
not the end result that maters the most. Students need to choose colleges that appeal to their needs and
goals and not just go to get a diploma. If students spend no time studying weather boarded or not
liking their studies, then what difference does the diploma make in the end. Students would just have a
degree that often goes unused in life but the costs is ever mounting to these students. The financial
cost, the cost of failure, loss of energy and time, causes many students to never finish their education
or even to avoid going in the

people will have a serious injury that will require different methods to heal. There are a variety ways
of bone tissue repairing but most of them are not long term and can cause other complications. There
are different stages for bone repair. The first step is the formation of hematoma at the break, then the
formation of a fibrocartilaginous callus, the third step is the formation of a bony callus, and finally

  • 2. Diamond Head Trail Recreationists and Their Environmental... A management approach to Diamond Head trail recreationists and their environmental impact Volcanoes are an important part of my life. As soon as I learned that my husband was being stationed in Hawaii I knew that I needed to hike Diamond Head. Aside from volcanoes, I am also hugely passionate about education and conservation which makes maintaining the integrity of Diamond Head a critical goal of mine. Selfishly, I want to be able to hike Diamond Head for years to come. This paper will discuss how the demographics of recreationists and their environmental impacts on Diamond Head can possibly be addressed by management approaches. Diamond Head trail is hiked by about a million people per year. The Hawaii Department of Land and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The small percentage of local people who use the trail choose to hike in the morning for exercise and meditation. The cost to enter the trail is currently $1 and 1,500 2,500 people visit daily (DLNR, 2000) which is a substantial economic benefit; according to the US Army Corps of Engineers, visitors who spend money contribute to the local economies by supporting jobs and generating income (US Army Corps of Engineers, 2006). The user profile contributes to the environmental impact on Diamond Head. Studies conducted on visitors participating in outdoor recreation concluded that respondents were not particularly aware of how their recreation contributed to environmental impacts (Chapter 3) which is displayed by the users at Diamond Head since the vast majority of hikers are unfamiliar with Hawaii and past experience with any activity is what influences whether people are appropriate in their recreational pursuits (Hammit Cole, 1998). According to Yara Lamadrid Rose, coordinator of Diamond Head State Monument, erosion from foot traffic has caused Diamond Head to decrease in height; it has eroded about two feet in 10 years on certain areas of the trail (Watanabe, 2010). The erosion has resulted in the trail surface becoming extremely uneven (DLNR, 2000). Unrestricted access to the interior of the crater has also caused obvious scarring from soil breaking away ... • 3. Odysseus And Moses In The Aeneid Moses in Exodus and Aeneas in the Aeneid are the closest to each other with regarding leadership. Both men were perceived to be the best leaders for their people without thinking of their own personal gain. Both of these leaders began their missions when their people were put into serious danger, which put both of these men true leadership abilities to the test. Aeneas and Moses were two different types of leaders when it came down to it. Moses and Aeneas both have to deal with the concept that they both have no sense of free will . They are both being constantly being toyed and played with by their different version of Gods. Truly, neither one of them are leaders because they are being lead by their personal gods way of living and doing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aeneas is already made to be a powerful heroic figure by nature. At the end of the Aeneid he temporarily loses his heroism and his pietas. The burning of Troy guards his ability to perform like a natural hero he is. I can tell that his heroism will be an inner struggle within himself. Aeneas feels like he is no longer in control of his own destiny. This makes him more of a hero than a leader. He has to deal with battle everywhere he goes. Aeneas shows his true heroism and leadership when he choses his duties as a leader over his love for Dido. He has to tell Dido he is duty bound (973). Aeneas shows compassion and love, which are some rare traits in heroes. To me, this makes him more of a hero because he can show his emotions. He felt very guilty and thought he was the reason she took her on life. Moses is more of a leader than a hero to me. Moses started out as an outsider because of where he was raised. The same people who pushed him to the outside were the same people he had to lead. He wads able to push past the barriers of being scared and the feeling that no one would listen to him. He was able to lead the people and gain their trust from the Lord s word. Some would say that Moses is a hero because he split the Red Sea and led the Israelites to freedom. Moses had his doubts and fears when he is asked to do the job of the Lord intended in him to do. Good leadership is the ability to bring people to peace. Moses exemplifies instruction in his words and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Film Performance Review Music 111 Film Concert Review On February 26th, 2017 I watched the Neil Young Heart of Gold concert with my dad. It was a DVD recording containing 20 tracks of his live performance. We watched the concert in our home theatre room through a sound system that captured the quality of the concert. The Performers: Young is a Canadian born artist who grew up in the prairies. This concert was recorded after Young suffered an aneurism and had to undergo surgery. Neil Young is the heart and soul of this concert. However, many other musicians that he deems as friends surrounded him on stage. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was the perfect location for this concert as Young is a musical icon. The size of the venue was just the right size to capture the heartfelt renditions of Young s songs. To those unfamiliar with the venue, it appears like a large church more than a huge concert hall, providing for a quiet, intimate setting perfect for the acoustic instruments and voices to be enjoyed. The appreciative audience gave enthusiastic applause after each song performed; however, we are never given a glimpse of them. The stage itself was static throughout, backed only with the words Prairie Wind . The concert did not rely on visual effects to entertain, but solely on the musical abilities of the entertainers on stage. Analysis: This concert was fantastic. Each song that Young sang aloud me to envision myself being there, his ability to formulate such genuine lyrics and perform them with such passion should me that he performs because he really loves it, unlike some performances you see from many popular artists these days where they are just there for the big production. If I were given the chance I would definitely go see Neil Young in concert, as I think it would be one that I would forget. • 15. My Favorite Hymn is In Christ Alone My favorite hymn is In Christ Alone. By most standards it is a modern hymn. While many Christian hymns date back to the early church, the two songwriters of In Christ Alone began work in 2000 and completed their work two years later. Although it lacks historical prestige, this hymn s grandeur, strong lyrics and musical melody elevate it to a status often only given the ancient songs. In Christ alone is undoubtedly a very influential hymn to many in my generation. So, because of its personal impact on my life I have chosen to name it my favorite hymn. In the autumn of 2000, songwriter Keith Getty (Irish) and musician Stuart Townend (English) met at a worship event in England. The two soon became good friends and began to write traditional hymns together. Their work includes How Deep the Father s Love, My First Love, and The King of Love. However their most famous hymn by far is In Christ Alone. The hymn s writer Stuart Townend wanted to express the theme of the life, death and resurrection of Christ and His ultimate sufficiency (Townend). Once released, In Christ Alone did just that, gaining immediate popularity among traditional Christian music purists as well as fans of more contemporary Christian music. In 2003, a contemporary Christian group, The Newsboys, released a version of In Christ Alone in their album Adoration: The Worship Album that topped the Christian Music charts in the United States. Since 1982, the National Institute of Mental Health, along with other reputable health organizations has collected data that connects media violence, with violent acts. Television violence affects young people of all ages, all socio economic levels, and all levels of intelligence. Today s children view vast amounts of violence on television. Television is the primary source of media for most American citizens, and therefore television violence is the primary source for viewing violence in both adults and children. Previously the ability of television to do so had been disputed that the media was seen only as a re enforcer and not a creator. Research performed by Albert Bandura concluded there were strong short term effects of exposure to violence in the media that affects children. In his studies, children watched models perform aggressive acts against a doll. These acts of aggression were presented under three circumstances: 1. the children saw the model rewarded for aggressive behavior, 2. the children saw the model receive no consequences for their aggressive behavior, and 3. the children saw the model punished. The second story, which is the story Pi tells the insurance workers, is the realistic one, involving a sailor, cook, his mother and himself. The Imaginary Institution of India The Imaginary institution of Indian: Politics and Ideas Ch5 8 As you dive into the text of Sudipta Kaviraj s The Imaginary institution of Indian: Politics and Ideas (2010) he begins to already question the sense of Nationalism. Indian s didn t really have any sense of nationalism up until the British came to power. Kaviraj states it is often essential to ask whose history this is, in the sense of history for whom rather than history of whom. (Page 170) Because it depends on which said the story is told. In earlier periods of India they felt a weaker version of patriotism which was an ancestor for Indian nationalism (Page 174) which would be different from today s patriotism and that there is no connection between being patriotic and being Indian. He says that the consciousness becomes nationalist before it becomes India s only because they happen to realize it later in time. Kaviraj regards India to be closely parallel to what Gramsci said about Italian nationalism. There are two conflicts, One of memorialism of Italy s Roman past to what it is today and, two today s modernity and the construction of the Italian identity. He compares the two because Italian history had some similar influences to that of colonialism. In addition, reviews come from multiple sources: experts or consumers, both play an important role to the consumer and are thought to be valued resources. In fact, reviews and information are easier to acquire due to the modern technology and increased use of the internet among consumers. Reviews and research help consumers to decide whether or not they are going to purchase a specific product, such as Apple s iPhone 5s or the 5c, by providing information and specifications. Controversy of Privacy and the Internet Privacy is dead get over it , according to Steve Rambam, a privacy investigator who specializes in Internet privacy cases, this is how he considers privacy to be in today s society. He is just another entity living in the midst of a high technology society to whom privacy seems to be dead when reaching the Internet. With all the traffic on the Internet, the risk of private information falling into the wrong hands is excessive, and with all the advances in computer technology the rate of privacy loss is increasing as well. When Sula was a child, she grew up faster than most children because of the things that she saw and heard, so it was almost as if she had a loss of childhood. These two completely different worlds were what drew these two young girls to each other (Bukisa). They were opposite in more than just their upbringing. Sula was rougher and tougher than Nel was, but her emotions were also inconsistent. Nel, on the other hand, was quiet, and normally had a steady emotion (Bukisa). It was as if these two girls were each one half of the same whole, making them inseparable. During their childhood, they shared everything, including boyfriends. All of these factores contributed to Sula s personality and actions as an adult. Sula as an adult had problems with love, recognizing boundaries, and fitting in. The Significance Of Physical Education Essay The Significance of Physical Education in American Schools Review Hommes, Tiffany J., Bemidji State University, USA Background Many children in America do not receive the needed amount of physical activity needed to maintain a healthy weight. Approximately17% of children are obese (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2016) and one in three children are overweight or obese (American Heart Association, 2016). This is a local and national emergency that needs to be addressed to keep children healthy, prevent morbidities, and control the costs that are associated with being overweight or obese. • 32. Global Warming Is The Most Important Environmental Issue... The topic of global warming as a result of increased atmospheric CO2 concentration is arguably the most important environmental issue that the world faces today. CO2 has always been in the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas keeping the global atmospheric temperature at life sustainable levels by preventing the infra red radiation to leave the atmosphere (CO2 Capture and storage, 2016). However due to human interference and the burning of fossil fuels (as shown by the following equation), the rate at which atmospheric CO2 concentrations is rising has been increasing in the last 50 years as evident on Graph 1 above as well as the equation below. C(s) + O2 (g)→ CO2 (g) The CO2 unless it is captured and stored, is usually released into the atmosphere increasing its concentration (CO2 Capture and storage, 2016). The increased atmospheric concentration of CO2 leads in undesirable phenomena such as global warming and climate change. This climate was characterised by higher average global temperatures, an increased number of extreme weather events, potential rises in sea level, and possible extinction of plant and animal species due to habitat loss (Judd, 2016). This investigation will analyse the chemical background behind the many methods of capturing and storing of atmospheric CO2. It will explain the different perspectives of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). Finally conclusions will be drawn on whether Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) can be successful in reducing carbon ... The personal story shows the real road it takes with decisions we make when entering college, Harding wrote that she began college because she felt it was expected of her (Harding, 2011). College students often make choices based on what they perceive as pressure to do so by others like councilors, parents and even society. They enter college thinking this is what my plan should look like and not making choices that are the best for them. Harding said that in the end we all become graduates of one of the finest universities in the world and already, nobody much cared how we got there (Harding,2011). If students spend no time studying weather boarded or not liking their studies, then what difference does the diploma make in the end.
