Friendship In Recitatif Themes
In Recitatif, a short story by Toni Morrison, Twyla and Roberta have their ups and downs. First
meeting in a shelter where they were both dropped off, the two develop a friendship. As they grow
older, the two will occasionally run into each other, sometimes things would go well and other times
they would not. And almost every time they do meet up, there is something mentioned about Maggie.
No matter how upsetting the encounter was with Roberta, Twyla was always able to hold her ground.
This goes to show that Twyla is independent, clever, and stubborn which made her a stronger person.
Living in a shelter, without her mother, Twyla learned how to be independent. For example, despite
what her mother told her about people like Roberta, she made ... Show more content on

Twyla, You re the same little state kid who kicked a poor old black lady when she was down on the

were responses to Roberta s signs. Hers read MOTHER S HAVE RIGHTS TOO! (Morrison 150). One
day, Twyla s sign said, AND SO DO CHILDREN (Morrison 152). Another day, it was HOW WOULD

She was not going to let Roberta win this battle, so she took it to a deeper level to get under her skin.
After her last sign asking about Roberta s mother, she stopped showing up. These signs show that
Twyla always wants to have the last word and is

How Did Greek Society Shaped Western Culture
Greek society forever shaped western culture with its astounding advancements which future
civilizations continued to utilize and build upon for generations to come. Among these many
advancements, developments in three prominent areas will be discussed politics, mathematics, and
philosophy. In studying the Greek innovations within these subjects, we can recognize how other
civilizations advanced and even identify what Greece has given to our modern culture in the West.
One mark Greece had on future societies in the West can be seen in the advancement of political order,
namely democracy, which still prevails in not only the United States but across the globe. Democracy
began development when Cleisthenes transformed Athens into a democratic state and took steps to
protect the system of government from tyranny.1 The first period of Rome would later take from these
concepts and became marked by the representative way in which they chose to govern themselves as a
republic.2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Pythagorean School, for example, contributed many ideas to the mathematic community, among
them, studies of geometry and the theory of proof.5 Euclid also lived in the time of ancient Greece and
became a prominent mathematician, as well as author of a book about geometry called, The Elements,
considered the second best selling book of all time.6 The works of Pythagoras and Euclid have
become fundamental building blocks for any person with an eighth grade understanding mathematics.
With these advancements, as well as innovations from Archimedes and Apollonius of Perga, Islamic
scholars translated their works and contributed even more, growing the worldwide understanding of
mathematics.7 Greek progressions in geometry as well as the theory of proof contributed greatly to
our ultimate understanding of contemporary mathematics, without which, our modern society would

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plate Heat...
Plate Heat Exchangers Design and Advantages
Plate heat exchangers are clearly sorts of warmth exchangers. It capacities by exchanging the warmth
starting with one liquid then onto the next through the utilization of metal plates. Contrasting it and
traditional warmth exchangers, these ones are supported particularly in light of the fact that the liquids
deal with bigger surface zones and are equipped for scattering to the metal plates. Basically, the
methodology empowers appropriate assistance of warmth exchange as it velocities up the adjustments
in temperature happening amid the procedure.
Knowing more about the idea of plate warmth exchangers includes taking a gander at the
configuration of the device and in addition separating the focal points from its inconveniences.
Fundamentally, a warmth exchanger uses channels to cool or warm a liquid through the procedure of
exchanging it to another liquid. The funnels dividers are frequently made either out of metal or
different substances known not of high warm conduction abilities. This is to guarantee that the

Theme Of Depression In The Catcher In The Rye
1
One of the most common and detrimental psychiatric condition is depression. The state of depression
has substantial e ffects on a person s thoughts, behaviour and feelings. Depression entails an emotional
stigma which has overbearing feelings of despair and dejection. SigmundFreud encloses the
similarities between the roots of depression with the grief experienced bythose who lost a loved one.
(Comer, 2005). The author, J.D Salinger, highlights the destructiveimpacts of depression in his book,
The Catcher in the Rye about the depression experienced bythe protagonist, Holden Caulfield. Holden
Caulfield has endured the emotional pain of hisyounger brother, Allie
s death. Holden s teacher
Mr. Antolini, sets him up to understand hismisguided ways as he points out Holden s down fall. He
tries to instill the notion that Holdenmust ignore the corrupt society in order to fully experience
enriching and symbiotic relationshipsin life.
Mr. Antolini attempts to evolve Holden to prevent his great fall as he states
,
the mark of an immature man is he wants do die nobly for a cause, and whereas the mark of a mature
man is he wants to live humbly for one.
Holden understands his unrealistic approach to life, howeverbecomes clinically depressed in the
process. In The Catcher in the Rye ,
Holden encounters asignificant fall into his depressive state due to his detachment from society,

Bradford Vs Shakespeare
Michael Radford s version of Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice nearly surpasses it s predecessor
Trevor Nunn s in every way because it was crafted with a much higher budget, It has elements that
enforce the emotional impact of the story and successfully adapts and improves the text from
Shakespeare s vision. With the higher budget Michael Radford is able to make a more convincing and
higher quality film by having, a more skilled and visually appealing cast, real sets and locations, and a
much improved script. Missing from Trevor Nunn s version of the text, Michael s film contains, a
variety of quality lighting, sound design, and skilled actors which greatly improves the emotional
impact of his film. Michael was able to improve the source material over his predecessor by, making
Shakespeare s language more audible, taking more liberties with his story, and expanding on
Shakespeare s original ideas and themes. Michael Radford s film, using it s higher budget, was able to
implement many more emotional elements, while adapting and improving Shakespeare s Ideas.

Will It Be Difficult for Marvel or Other Companies in the...
Will it be difficult for Marvel or other companies in the MacAndrews and Forbes holding company to
issue debt in the future?
To determine Whether or not it will be difficult for Marvel or other companies in the MacAndrews and
Forbes holding company to issued debt in the future, we should analyze two perspectives, one is
historical and the other one is the future perspective.
Historically, Marvel Holdings issued zero coupon senior secured notes which were all secured by
Marvel s equity rather than its assets or operating cash flows. However, this was a very attractive offer
since the stock price was trading above $25 per share which had a value of $1.9 billion, well above the
face value of the bonds issued. The interest payments on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the short term borrowing has also appeared on liability in the year of 1996. Total long term
debt and total liabilities also increased drastically in 1995 and more significantly in 1996.
From the Consolidated statement of operations, the cost of sales increased since 1995. Moreover, the
amortization of goodwill increased which is due to the decrease in revenue of trading cards and comic
books. Interest expense also increased due to significant increase in debt. All these caused a loss in
income and earning per share becomes negative at the end of 1995.
Based on all the above historical evidences, it will be really difficult due to the fact that the company
has a debt to total capital ratio of 88% which is $805.4 million in total debt and $107.4 million in
equity. With the downgrade of the public debts, it will make the financing situation even worse since
the issueing notes or bonds will not raise as much financing as when the rating is good and will be
more costly since the interest rate has to increase due to the increase in risk.
In the future perspective, a restructure plan was mentioned by Perelman. However, Marvel was facing
three options:
1. if marvel was going under chapter 7 liquidation, the debtholders would get around 70% of the
original value and the holding company debtholders and equityholders would get nothing.
2. If Marvel did not aquire Toy Biz, the total enterprise value would between

Protests That Were Heard Around The World Protests
The Protests That Were Heard Around The World When the colonization of modern day United States
was vastly completed, an intensifying sense of greed began to take over the minds of governing
officials, as it did in other modernizing countries. Wars began to dismiss civil and humanitarian
explanations, and instead were focused on factors such as territorial expansion and possible resource
prosperity. These factors were often held close to officials while the general population relied on
misconceptions that were created by media. The war that took place in Vietnam was certainly no
exception to this theory. When President John F. Kennedy first sent troops to Vietnam, it was assumed
by the citizens that it was to halt the spread of communism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An example of such an act was composed on March 16th, 1968, When a company of American
soldiers went into the hamlet of My Lai 4, in Quang Ngai province and rounded up the inhabitants,
including old people and women with infants in their arms, then ordered them into a ditch where they
were methodically shot to death by American soldiers (Zinn 478). This dismal behavior caught the eye
of Army investigators who ultimately made an attempt to cover up the incident but were proven to fail
as an anti war photographer captured a majority of the scenes. These letters began to circulate in
French publications almost immediately and led to the arrest of several officers who were never
assigned a worthy punishment, the most severe being a shortened sentence and house arrest.
Though the actions that took place in mid march were nothing short of tragic, many of the antiwar
movements in The United States did not take full effect until after Nixon pledged to get United States
out of Vietnam (Zinn 483). Zinn explains how just two years after Nixon s announcement, himself and
Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger launched an invasion of Cambodia. Zinn proclaimed that this
selfish action led to an outcry of protests in The United States (Zinn 484). After this, many different
variants of distress calls were used by the citizens in

Ignite Incur Foundations Case Summary
Problem:
All foundations need support in order to be viable philanthropic institutions. This support includes
filing all of the paper work associated with the grants approval process, vetting the IRS standings of
nonprofits before grants can be made, doing preliminary screenings of nonprofits to identify if their
missions match the missions of the foundations they are attempting to solicit ect. Larger foundations
(50 million dollars and over in net assets) are able to hire a fulltime staff to handle these duties.
Smaller foundations (100 thousand dollars to five million dollars) often times give one of the trustee s
lawyers a few extra billable hours for the lawyer to manage the foundation as there is less a smaller
volume of administrative work associated with making fewer grants. Midsized foundations (5 million
dollars 50million dollars in net assets) struggle because they do not have enough administrative duties
to warrant a full time salaried employee, however they are too big to be managed effectively and

Transcendence in Marilynne Robinson’s Housekeeping Essay
Transcendence in Marilynne Robinson s Housekeeping
William H. Burke suggests that transience in Marilynne Robinson s Housekeeping is a type of
pilgrimage, and that the rigors and self denials of the transient life are necessary spiritual conditioning
for the valued crossing from the experience of a world of loss and fragmentation to the perception of a
world that is whole and complete (717). The world of reality in Housekeeping is one fragmented,
isolated, and arbitrary as glimpses one has at night through lighted windows (Robinson 50). Many of
the characters that precede Ruth in the narrative rebel against something in this world that is not right.

Nor will they, like Edmund and Helen, submit to a premature death in the water; instead they pursue a
spiritual transience that will lead them to an earthly state of transcendent grace.
The thoughts and emotions that occur in connection with water are triggered by the lake, and they help
Ruth choose transience over any other form of existence. When water floods Fingerbone, the
boundaries are overrun, exposing the impermanence of the physical world, and the world s own
natural push towards transience. Water shifts the margins, warning us that the visible world only
shows us part of the whole or perhaps even a mere reflection of a false reality. After the fantastic train
wreck in which Ruth s grandfather perished, the lake sealed itself over in ice, changing boundaries
again, while it concealed, like a secret, the last traces of the victims with the illusion of its calm
surface. The lake, a source of beauty and darkness, life and death, is the accumulated past, which
vanishes but does not vanish, which perishes and remains (172). Water carries the symbolic possibility
for rebirth the flood causes the graves in the town cemetery to sink, so that they looked a little

Shakespeare s Sonnet 12 ( 1609 ) And George Herbert s...
This essay will address the theme of death in Shakespeare s Sonnet 12 (1609) and George Herbert s
poem Virtue (1633). Both Shakespeare and Herbert explore notions of death in their poems, in terms
of the tension between the psychical and the spiritual in a religious context. However, where they
differ is that Shakespeare places emphasis on the importance of the corporeal, and of what is left
behind on earth after death. In contrast, Herbert focuses on the impermanence of the physical, instead
advocating a focus on the eternal life of the soul in heaven.
In the late 16th and early 17th century, London was ravaged by the Black Death, causing many people
to ruminate on death and their mortality. Shakespeare was arguably affected also, indeed death as a
concept is a reoccurring theme within Shakespeare s work; prevalent through sonnets, tragedies and
medieval morality plays through the character of Death (Courtney, 1995). Shakespeare s Sonnet 12
explores the physicality of death, by describing the physicality and impermanence of the natural
world. In the first eight lines this is achieved in a traditional blazon format, perhaps to emphasise the
physicality of earthly life. The speaker ruminates on the temporality of life through the image of death
and decay and concludes that the only way in which to ensure immortality is through procreation and
continuation of the family line, so that he may not be forgotten after death.
In the opening line, the speaker meditates on

by carrying out cross sectional research we can find out what is the level of worker s satisfaction,
dissatisfaction, stress and burnout in their designated role. Advantages of cross sectional design
include: A single research can find out various outcome variables and relevant information. On the
basis of these variable and information, the level of job satisfaction in the banking industry can easily
be classified. It is cheap to perform and does not take long time. To perform the research only 15,000

accusation forces Mrs. Peters to choose between the law and her inner feelings. Her husband is the
sheriff of Dickenson County, Iowa. It has always been a small, quiet town where nothing really
happens. Mrs. Peters is faced with an internal struggle. On one side, she is married to the law and on
the other side she understands what Minnie has been through. Her husband used to mentally abuse her

The worst part of it all is that she had a little pet bird that she treated like her own child and John
Wright has killed by wringing its neck. She has nothing to love or care for and definitely has no one to

brings her happiness, her little bird, she has to kill him. Minnie always had friends and loved life until
this man kept her away from it. Minnie has every right in the world to kill her husband.
Glaspell also gives the impression that all men are jerks. For example, the men constantly make fun of
the women and put them down for everything they do or do not do. In the beginning of the story the
men complained of dirty towels when Minnie is in jail and has not even been home to clean up (264).
Even though many men may be like that, not all men are. These types of men are the ones who give
the rest of the gender a bad name. Glaspell was not at fault by making some men look bad, but she
could have put at least one man in the story who was kind and understanding. In the story, she makes
every man look like a jerk. By doing that, Glaspell basically says that is how all men are and that they
cannot and will not be sensitive or be able to understand women in any way, shape or form. She is
wrong. She does not give men enough credit. There are plenty of men who are sensitive and Glaspell
refuses to show that side of the male gender.

In 2016, a grocery store customer in New Hampshire looked into a bag of grapes and saw a black
widow spider crawling out of the bunch of grapes inside the bag. This spider, name being a black

the name in order to create a sense of fear for the spider. The 8 legged spider with a shiny backside
and red hourglass shape on its belly is one of the most venomous spiders in the United States. In a

Being Human In The Book Of Job And Antigone
What does it mean to be human? To be human means to have as a goal in life to find happiness, but by
suffering through the path. On the other hand, as humans, we tend to have different perspectives and
ideas about the world, but that can lead to a huge discussion and debate between what is considered
right and wrong. For that reason, there are laws that regulates de society, or polis, in order to maintain
peace and justice. Furthermore, there should be always a head or an individual in charge to be the one
who defines justice from injustice and to take responsibility of the polis. However, not always the
individual responsible for the position is capable or has the skills to do it. Being human means that we
are not perfect, and every single one of us will make several mistakes. We are not going to make the
right decisions all the time, and we are going to face temptations that will, probably, drag us to a bad
position that will later bring severe consequences. This two pieces of humanity I am focusing on can

In The Book of Job, we can clearly get the idea of Job suffering because his faith is being tested. At
the beginning, he thought he was a wealthy man and had found happiness. He had a perfect life. As
time passed, Satan and God made a deal to prove Job s loyalty towards God. Along the way, Job

Compare And Contrast Civilization And Western Civilization
The texts, The Western Heritage , and the Western Civilization offer unique perspectives on the birth
of the western civilization through the years predating the 1300s. Both narratives navigate through
thousands of years of history, exploring the political, economic, social and military aspects of the
evolution of the western civilization. Whilst both texts discuss the birth and creation of civilization as
defined by the western world, the readings vary stylistically as well as in their elaborations of the
evolution of society. While their themes of civilization such as religion, and agriculture coincide with
one another the approach in their discussion differs.
Once such difference can be seen in the introductions of the readings. While ... Show more content on

While Mesopotamia is greatly defined through it development of literature through writings such as
Hammurabi s code and religion through Babylonian gods and goddesses, Egyptian civilization is
greatly defined through the development of irrigation and agriculture. Egyptian civilization as
described in great lengths in the, Western Heritage was centered around the Nile River. With the aid of
the river, Egyptians were able to develop a complex agricultural system of planting and harvesting,
which allowed for a surplus of crops incomparable to the rest of the ancient world. By having an
advantageous agricultural system, Egypt was able to place their focus elsewhere, allowing for unified
society rather than having individual city states. Under this unified society, religion was the dominant
factor, leading to one of the world s first theocracies, as well as some of the western civilization s
greatest dynastic rulers. Although Egypt s unified state allowed for it to become one of the most
highly developed civilizations of the western world, it also led to its destruction. Due to its highly
unified state, Egypt rarely engaged in warfare amongst itself and other civilizations. This led to a
fundamentally lacking military skill, which caused their destruction by the

Utopia And Leviathan
Thomas More sUtopia and Thomas Hobbes Leviathan each offer alternatives to the worlds in which
they lived.. More s society, viewed through the character Hythloday, is seemingly based on man s
nature in society being generally good, and the faults of man emanate from how society itself is set up.
Hobbes takes the opposite view of human nature, where man s will to survive makes him unable to act
out of goodness and it is man who is responsible for society s ills.
Both Leviathan and Utopia contain faults in logic that work to undermine the very possibility for these
new social structures. In the following I will show how each of their views for a new society give
insight into what their beliefs of human nature are, while showing some ... Show more content on

Close inspection of these rules give insight into how More may have really viewed human nature. In
the following excerpts we find evidence that More may have found man untrustworthy and in need of
social control, or at the very least spiritual control.
The vast majority of Utopians ¦ believe in a single power, unknown, eternal, infinite, inexplicable, far
beyond the grasp of the human mind, and diffused throughout the universe, not physically but in
influence. Him they call father, and to him alone they attribute the origin, increase, progress, change,
and end of all visible things; they do not offer divine honors to any other. ¦ (Utopus) left the whole
matter (choosing a religion) open, allowing each person to choose what he would believe. The only
exception was a positive and strict law against anyone who would sink so far below the dignity of
human nature as to think that the soul perishes with the body, or that the universe is ruled by blind
chance, not divine providence. ¦ Therefore a man who holds such views is offered no honors, entrusted
with no offices, and given no public responsibility, he is universally regarded as a low and sordid
fellow (pp.516 518 This excerpt shows the ambivalence that More has about human nature. He sees
man as essentially good but whenever an individual has ideas of their own they are regarded as
inferior. This creates another

Who Is Thomas Jefferson A Good President
Thomas Jefferson is one of the most important Presidents involved with the founding of America. His
contributions are described in America s Third President by Sandra Jacobson. He served over 50 years
in the New American Union. He held positions such as a Governor and as President. Everything that
Thomas Jefferson did undoubtedly made him the strongest President out of Abraham Lincoln and
George Washington.
Thomas Jefferson started his political journey by serving in the Continental Congress in 1775. One
year after, he single handedly drafted the Declaration of Independence, a document that reflects the
values of American government using his philosophical thinking. The Declaration of Independence is
viewed as one of the most important documents in American History. He then took positions such as
the Secretary of State and Vice President until he became the third President of the United States in
1801. During his Presidency wanted to expand American westward. In order to do this he funded the

Macroaggression In Dear White People
We discuss many concepts in our African American Culture class, a discussion that we ve had, that
stuck out to me most is the discussion from the episode of Dear White People. Dr. Jones asked the
class about a specific part in the episode, saying that although we, the class, might not have deemed it
as important, she saw the part as a contributing factor to the plot of the episode. The class had many
answers for her question, such as Reggie and Sam s relationship, or about the woke peers and the not
so woke ones. One student even mentions a girl from the episode who was almost carefree about the
issues on hand. Dr. Jones later answers her own question, giving us a detailed answer, and concludes
that when Reggie gets stopped by a coach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a target aspect of racism in modern times. White privilege is the reason why white citizens are given
chance after chance in the justice system. It is the reason why white citizens are able to make certain
comments and make certain decisions without questions and without criticism. An ongoing situation
where I think white privilege shows up is the situation with the President and African American

great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore initiation is withdrawn.

likely to be high risk and in need of a red tray , such wards include:

2. Elderly ward
3. Rehabilitation ward
4. Paediatric ward

However, the audit tools are reliable and can be easily repeated by others.
The observations of mealtimes (See appendix E) will be analysed by distributing the collected data on
a bar chart; where the data can be interpreted more efficiently by displaying the total numbers of
patients who require assistance, receive assistance and receive red trays across all the observations for
breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The analysis of the patients questionnaire may be time consuming, as it s in paper format meaning that
the questions and respondent data will have to be manually transferred into spreadsheet software, with
each question assigned a column, and row for each person s answer, with each answer being assigned
a code . Once all the data from each questionnaire has been entered in the spreadsheet; it should be
checked for accuracy. The data can then be transferred to a bar chart, to display the data, for simple
analysis.
The ward staff questionnaire (See Appendix D) is quantitative and can be analysed by reading the
questionnaires, putting them into categories and assigning codes . Though, this is a time consuming
method and highly subjective with the questionnaires having an increased risk of being interpreted
incorrectly.
Ethics Confidentiality
One major ethical concern is to make sure informed consent is given by the patients to allow for (1)
the conduction of observations on them during mealtimes and (2) their participation in questionnaires.

Patients With Newly Diagnosed Hypothyroidism And Their...
Patient education. FNP needs to educate patients with newly diagnosed hypothyroidism and their
caregiver if necessary in regards to its disease process, side effect of medications, importance of
compliance and follow up. Hypothyroidism is often a lifelong condition and therefore it is important
to counsel the patient at the point of diagnosis (Roe, 2015). Taking L thyroxine is the main treatment
mechanism; therefore, medication compliance is the one of the most important part in education. The
clinical effect of L thyroxine may include normalizing abnormalities associated with hypothyroidism.
Optimal treatment of hypothyroidism may lead to improvement of various symptoms. In
neuropsychological aspect, patients may show improved motor skills, myopathy and depression. With
treatment, patient s overall energy level may enhance constipation symptoms may improve and weight
problem may lessen if thyroid balance was a main contributor. It has been shown that treatment of
hypothyroidism would also improve lipid profiles in patients (Roe, 2015).
Longstanding hypothyroidism is accompanied by impaired function of nearly all organs and tissues,
and the clinical response to replacement therapy may continue for months. Normally, L thyroxine
administration improves clinical symptoms associated with hypothyroidism without adverse effects.
Rare cases of intolerance which may be caused by reaction to tablet colors or other constituents have
been report (Garber, 2012).

During the period of time 1400 1499 great gains were made by the Europeans in their quest for
knowledge of the world they lived in. In this time period the Europeans circum navigated Africa,
located the territories of the West Indies and basically redrew the map of the world. All these things

Thus each time a new tax was applied to the goods the Moslem merchants raised the price at which
they would sell the goods at to recoup their expenses. Therefore as the Italian merchants had to cover
their expenses that raised the prices of the goods also. This fact proved economically unacceptable to
the other European merchants. The high cost of purchasing these goods made European merchants
willing to fund exploration to find an alternate route to the goods of India. The merchants believed
that by finding the alternate route they could remove the middle men from the process of obtaining the
goods and also as the route would not have to go through any other kingdom the goods would not be
subjected to the taxation with increased the price it cost to obtain the goods. Therefore by obtaining
the goods at a cheaper price the merchant realized they would gain vastly increased profits. Similarly
it was not only merchants that saw the importance of finding and controlling a shorter route to the
riches of Africa and India. Nations also saw the great benefits controlling such routes would bring to
them. This was the principle reason that nations such as Portugal and Spain pursued maritime
exploration. Portugal had to engage in this activity due to the fact that they did not have the natural

Kolcaba s Theory Of Comfort Research Paper
Kolcaba s Theory of Comfort Kolcaba s work on comfort was the compilation of other theorists work,
which had used comfort in their theories. She had found that comfort was often used, but never
defined as it pertains to healthcare. When the theory is applied in the healthcare setting, the
interventions to enhance comfort relate to positive patient outcomes (Kolcaba, 1994). The word
comfort can be defined in different manners. It can be a verb or a noun and can be physical or mental
(Kolcaba Kolcaba, 1991). The term was analyzed in reference to nursing application for this theory.
Kolcaba examined the history of the use of comfort from works of Florence Nightingale and Bertha
Harmer. The conclusion of this was that overall concept of comfort was positive (Kolcaba Kolcaba,
1991). After the examination of the use of comfort in the past it was then looked at in the present time
that Kolcaba was working within. Organizations like American Nurses Association and The

Race And Gender Differences In Race, Class And Race
What is race? Race is defined as a group of persons related by common descent or heredity

gender is what make the position of an individual in society. In our textbook race is defined as a
category of people who have been singled out as inferior or superior, often based on real or alleged
physical characteristics such as skin color, hair texture, eye shape, or other subjectively selected
attributes (Kendall, 2013, p 296). A variety of people believe that race and ethnicity are the same when

To determine Whether or not it will be difficult for Marvel or other companies in the MacAndrews and Forbes holding company to issued debt in the future, we should analyze two perspectives, one is historical and the other one is the future perspective. Historically, Marvel Holdings issued zero coupon senior secured notes which were all secured by Marvel s equity rather than its assets or operating cash flows. Total long term debt and total liabilities also increased drastically in 1995 and more significantly in 1996. From the Consolidated statement of operations, the cost of sales increased since 1995. Moreover, the amortization of goodwill increased which is due to the decrease in revenue of trading cards and comic books. Interest expense also increased due to significant increase in debt. All these caused a loss in income and earning per share becomes negative at the end of 1995. Based on all the above historical evidences, it will be really difficult due to the fact that the company has a debt to total capital ratio of 88% which is $805.4 million in total debt and $107.4 million in equity. With the downgrade of the public debts, it will make the financing situation even worse since the issueing notes or bonds will not raise as much financing as when the rating is good and will be more costly since the interest rate has to increase due to the increase in risk. In the future perspective, a restructure plan was mentioned by Perelman. These factors were often held close to officials while the general population relied on misconceptions that were created by media. An example of such an act was composed on March 16th, 1968, When a company of American soldiers went into the hamlet of My Lai 4, in Quang Ngai province and rounded up the inhabitants, including old people and women with infants in their arms, then ordered them into a ditch where they were methodically shot to death by American soldiers (Zinn 478). This dismal behavior caught the eye of Army investigators who ultimately made an attempt to cover up the incident but were proven to fail as an anti war photographer captured a majority of the scenes. These letters began to circulate in French publications almost immediately and led to the arrest of several officers who were never assigned a worthy punishment, the most severe being a shortened sentence and house arrest. Though the actions that took place in mid march were nothing short of tragic, many of the antiwar movements in The United States did not take full effect until after Nixon pledged to get United States out of Vietnam (Zinn 483). Zinn explains how just two years after Nixon s announcement, himself and Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger launched an invasion of Cambodia. Burke suggests that transience in Marilynne Robinson s Housekeeping is a type of pilgrimage, and that the rigors and self denials of the transient life are necessary spiritual conditioning for the valued crossing from the experience of a world of loss and fragmentation to the perception of a world that is whole and complete (717). The world of reality in Housekeeping is one fragmented, isolated, and arbitrary as glimpses one has at night through lighted windows (Robinson 50). When water floods Fingerbone, the boundaries are overrun, exposing the impermanence of the physical world, and the world s own natural push towards transience. Water shifts the margins, warning us that the visible world only shows us part of the whole or perhaps even a mere reflection of a false reality. After the fantastic train wreck in which Ruth s grandfather perished, the lake sealed itself over in ice, changing boundaries again, while it concealed, like a secret, the last traces of the victims with the illusion of its calm surface. • 13. Shakespeare s Sonnet 12 ( 1609 ) And George Herbert s... This essay will address the theme of death in Shakespeare s Sonnet 12 (1609) and George Herbert s poem Virtue (1633). Both Shakespeare and Herbert explore notions of death in their poems, in terms of the tension between the psychical and the spiritual in a religious context. However, where they differ is that Shakespeare places emphasis on the importance of the corporeal, and of what is left behind on earth after death. In contrast, Herbert focuses on the impermanence of the physical, instead advocating a focus on the eternal life of the soul in heaven. In the late 16th and early 17th century, London was ravaged by the Black Death, causing many people to ruminate on death and their mortality. Shakespeare was arguably affected also, indeed death as a concept is a reoccurring theme within Shakespeare s work; prevalent through sonnets, tragedies and medieval morality plays through the character of Death (Courtney, 1995). Shakespeare s Sonnet 12 explores the physicality of death, by describing the physicality and impermanence of the natural world. In the first eight lines this is achieved in a traditional blazon format, perhaps to emphasise the physicality of earthly life. The speaker ruminates on the temporality of life through the image of death and decay and concludes that the only way in which to ensure immortality is through procreation and continuation of the family line, so that he may not be forgotten after death. On the other hand, as humans, we tend to have different perspectives and ideas about the world, but that can lead to a huge discussion and debate between what is considered right and wrong. For that reason, there are laws that regulates de society, or polis, in order to maintain peace and justice. Furthermore, there should be always a head or an individual in charge to be the one who defines justice from injustice and to take responsibility of the polis. However, not always the individual responsible for the position is capable or has the skills to do it. The observations of mealtimes (See appendix E) will be analysed by distributing the collected data on a bar chart; where the data can be interpreted more efficiently by displaying the total numbers of patients who require assistance, receive assistance and receive red trays across all the observations for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The analysis of the patients questionnaire may be time consuming, as it s in paper format meaning that the questions and respondent data will have to be manually transferred into spreadsheet software, with each question assigned a column, and row for each person s answer, with each answer being assigned a code . Once all the data from each questionnaire has been entered in the spreadsheet; it should be checked for accuracy. The data can then be transferred to a bar chart, to display the data, for simple analysis. The ward staff questionnaire (See Appendix D) is quantitative and can be analysed by reading the questionnaires, putting them into categories and assigning codes . Though, this is a time consuming method and highly subjective with the questionnaires having an increased risk of being interpreted incorrectly.
