Environmental and Economic Aspects of CAP and Trade
Up to 16,000 Canadians die each year because of high pollution levels and poor air quality (City
Of Windsor 2016). Air pollution is the world s largest health risk. Pollution and climate change is a
major global issue. Canada is the ninth largest emitter of greenhouse gas that needs to enact a
climate policy [1] (Mildenberger et al. 2016). Greenhouse gasses are emitted by Human activities
such as energy industries, transportation, residential and commercial activities, manufacturing,
construction, industrial processes, and agriculture (AyЕџegГјl ... Show more content on

In the long run this will assist in saving energy costs, improving productivity and global
competitiveness, protecting jobs and creating more jobs. Ontario sets caps on the total emissions
for 2017 to 2020 (cap in 2017 is set at 143,332,000). The objective of Ontario s greenhouse gas
reduction is to be 15% below 1990 levels by 2020, 37% below 1990 levels by 2030 and 80% below
1990 levels by 2050.
Other Jurisdictions
CAP and Trade is a cost effective method for reducing emissions. The world s largest
implementation of Greenhouse gas trading system is the European Union Emissions Trading
System (EU ETS) and they have been environmentally ineffective. The result of price crash non
stability in California and Quebec are also environmentally ineffective. In 2016, the emphasis
was on EU ETS s fourth phase (2021 2030) which was what the European Commission,
presented changes for. The purpose of the presented changes is to bring the cap into line with the
EU s 2030 objective, reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions to at least 40% nationally by 2030. The
EU provides a better goal of free allocation rules and further supports low carbon innovation and
energy sector transformation. To meet the legal requirements and to compensate for excess
pollution EU ETS should reduce GHG emissions, and buy emission allowances in the carbon
market. They could also reduce GHG emissions

The Important Role Of Bureaucracy In The United States
I strongly believe that the bureaucracy is the real government. We the people just have a person in
office claiming to get things done. While congress passes laws, it would be somewhat impossible
for congress to make all the decisions that have to be made to translate the laws into action or to
make policies and choose actions on how the laws are to be carried out and enforced. So, then it
looks like bureaucrats run our country. Bureaucrats serve an important role by working with interest
groups to help get legislation presented to congressional subcommittees. Now with bureaucrats they
all come together from different agencies to form governmentpolicies. We Americans still have no
clue as to what really happens in those meetings or what anyone... Show more content on

Interest groups give money to congress, who in return pass laws favorable to the interest groups.
Interest groups ae known to have a great influence over the policies that are made in areas that
affect them. They all get what they want at the end of the day. However, the public eye does not
see the amount of money that is being spent supporting certain groups. An example of a huge iron
triangle would be the American Association for Retired People (AARP), the House Subcommittee
on Aging, and the Social Security Administration all working together to set government policy on
Social Security. They have a goal of keeping the elderly all together and looking out for their well
being. When it comes down to policy making the iron triangles can pull different favors in return
for making policies just for

Makeup Industry Analysis Paper
For the black woman struggling to find the right shade of makeup have no fear! It has always
been very difficult to find shades of foundation that represent the numerous numbers of shades
the melanin filled woman, or man, comes in. The beauty industry is now expanding! Each of
these products has been evaluated first hand by friends, family, top beauty gurus, and me. I will
evaluate the price, product coverage, and color spectrum of each product. The price determines
affordability and product quality. Product coverage tells how much surface area the makeup
will cover and how much product is used to achieve that coverage. The final and perhaps most
important quality of a foundation brand is the color spectrum available. If a brand only limits
itself to the skin tones of a light skin African American or even a tanned Caucasian then that
brand is not considered POC, People of Color, friendly. Product range matters, especially when
trying to reach a large audience. Starting with Kat Von D s Lock it Foundation, this foundation is
for those who are trying to look their absolute best 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Lock it
Foundation is a high end product with a selection of 30 different shades ranging from Light to
Deep. It also includes cool, neutral, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Teint Idole Foundation comes in 39 shades covering nearly all dark skinned women of color
as well as women with more fair skin and everything in between. Although, this product pushes
the price a bit it is definitely worth it. Because of the coverage quality of this product the amount
of the product used is very small. The consumer can choose to add more layers of foundation if
desired, but this product will last at least a year after purchase. With its 24 hour claim the consumer
never has to worry about reapplying their makeup or worrying about patchy

Medicine And I Were Not Love At First Sight
Medicine and I were not really love at first sight. In fact, medicine would dress up as an
Oncologist and drop me off to school every morning, but still no love. If anything, I hated it
since I would see sick and sad people as I would wait on my father to finish his clinic on our way
home. To me these patients were nothing more than a hurdle between me and my Nintendo and
Sega. It was during one of those traffic jams on our way home that my emotions boiled over and I
blurted out, What is it that you do, delay the inevitable. Make their existence more painful and
miserable as they wait on becoming a worm buffet. Torture them with your chemicals and
radiations until they blink eternally. What? I am glad I wasn t my father that day or I would have
lost it, Medicineaka dad did not. That day, he should have given me a piece of his minds but
instead he opted for giving me a piece of his heart. Having gone through the motions of school and
feeling lost all along, I had finally found the path in my life, that too in the most unlikely of
places... a traffic jam.
Life just switched gears. A lot of hard work went into getting from that traffic jam to medical school
. Basic science years taught me all about the structure and function of the miracle that is the human
body. Clinical rotations taught me that there was a lot more to that structure and function then I
thought, and what I was taught. The more I learnt the more I felt I needed to learn. An
unquenchable thirst, at times

SURVING AUSTRALIA-Sorrel Wilby
The tedious hours on the plane ended as I walked to the bus, which drove the passengers to the
airport. The Australian warm currents of air hit me for the first time as if I had just opened up an
oven to paradise with the scorching heat masking my face. This is the feeling I had forgotten
existed since being back in London. I forced my mood to placate, as I was now no longer tightly
squeezed as if I was the unlucky middle matchstick in a pack into the tormenting seats of the plane.
I put my head phones into my ears as fast I could, shuffling through my playlist until I came across
a song that wasn t from that ridiculously annoying Pop Party 2000 album that my sister had once

The warm Australian sun beating on to my face through the balcony doors I had left wide open the
night before. I rubbed my squinting, tired eyes and traced across my body for any insect bites that
I may have accumulated before sitting up in bed, stretching my arms and pacing to the balcony.
Goodness me, isn t Australia big? With one hand on my hip, the other shading my vision, I
gazed across the alluring skyline. It seemed as if there was absolutely nothing for miles on end
or so I thought. I could see a patch of pink in the distance, amongst all the dry land. Nowadays
my eye sight is about as reliable as a chocolate teapot, so I grabbed the nearest pair of binoculars I
could find. I squinted as I twisted the eye cups till I could see the pink patch had focused. I grinned
excessively. Bingo. Australia s famous Pink Lake.
I couldn t believe that we had managed to book this abode without realising that our next door
neighbour was one of Australia s most stunning attractions. I practically danced into Stan s room, to
say the least the lazy bastard was nowhere near as enthusiastic as me but, nevertheless (with quite
some persuading) he gave in and came to see it with

Submarines Revolutionized Naval Warfare
Imagine not having the cars or weaponry that exist in today s society. The world would be
changed drastically. Many parts of society would be missing and the underdeveloped if they were
never made in WWII. The technology made and advanced in WWII has changed today drastically.
The only way to appreciate the changes in history is to see the technology itself and show where it
came from. Vehicles where the biggest advancement in technology in the war. It has made
transportation of materials, people, and just general things easier for us. Not only that, but it has

Ways For Nurses For A Family With Chronic Illness
The purpose of this paper is to present ways for nurses to consider when providing care for a
family with chronic illness. Touhy et al., (2012) defines chronic illness as an illness that last
more than a year and continuous medical treatment with limitation to activity of daily living.
Chronic illness such as stroke can present family and individual challenges throughout an
individual s life span. Knowledge about disease pathology and compliance to medical treatment
while having family support are essential for prevention of additional complications and
comorbidities. Cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes are the most common chronic
diseases in Canada. According to the (Canadian Nurses Association [CNA]), each year 163, 000
Canadians die due to cardiovascular disease, cancer, lung disease, and diabetes while
cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death, disability, and illness. Therefore, we
will discuss the important ways that family nurses utilize their skills in health promotion, and
develop preventative management care plan that are appropriate for family situations. Joe

Importance Of Anglo-Saxon Loyalty In Beowulf
The Anglo Saxons were an interesting people that were loyal to their lord. Each group had a
leader that commanded and directed the warriors. Loyalty was an important part of the Anglo
Saxons culture. In Beowulf, the Anglo Saxons were expected to remain loyal to their leader as he
was responsible for protecting them in battle. The leaders of the Anglo Saxonswere admired for
their courage and determination as they guided the group of warriors in their endeavors. In The
Wife s Lament , the wife remains loyal to her lord even though she is treated harshly by him. She
chased after him when he left, and continued to love him after he ostracized her. As evident in
Beowulfand The Wife s Lament , the Anglo Saxons greatly relied on a noble leader to protect
them from danger and direct them towards success; as a result, the followers were loyal to their
lord by showing reverence and admiration as well as honouring their legacy, even if the lord
neglected to fulfill his duties. Throughout their journey and various battles, Beowulf and Wiglaf
remained loyal to their lords. While in Denmark, Beowulf remains loyal to his king, Higlac, and
the other warriors remain loyal to Beowulf. During his formal boast, Beowulf told his men that
my hands shall fight for me as My lord Higlac, might think less of me (246 270) if he fought with
weapons. Beowulf wanted to impress his lord and not disappoint him in battle. He feared that he
would bring shame to his lord if he fought with weapons or

Power in the simplest term possible can be the process of being in control; that is being in
control of situations and taking charge. Power can also be defined as the process of an
individual having control over another individual or groups of individuals. According to Hays
(2002), four important things should be noted when defining power, the include; 1) Power can
be understood with effects 2) Power has its attributes to an individual s behaviour. 3) Power is
included with control, domination. 4) Power can be unproductive in some cases; this is because
some gain will others don t; that is to say one individual may have more power that another.
Furthermore, this goes to show how power has various meaning, its effects of ones action on
another, its relations with other individuals in terms of behaviour and power over people in
countries or states. Also, another definition of power can be seen according to Boulding view;
Boulding (1990) defines Power as a the essence of potential for change. This change in itself
being to achieve a common goal for groups of individuals, political parties, states, nations and
countries. In addition, Colin Hays (2002) describes Terence Ball s definition of power as one of
the most important concept which organises political theory. This definition still shows the
interrelation of power and politics and how each relays on the other. Finally, According to Nye
(2011), power can be defined in various ways by peoples choices which

teenagers may develop this life altering illness. MS is more common in northern latitudes that are

agree with the author when she says, There is a large portion of social media users who don t

teenagers are going around adding these apps on their phone without thinking about what could

Descriptive Essay On Senior Prom
Senior Prom
I have been waiting for my senior prom since my freshman year of high school. My senior prom
was amazing; from pre prom festivities, prom, and all the after parties. I did not go to prom my
junior year so it was my final chance. My family and friends told me I needed to have this
experience in my life. I figured they were correct, so I decided to go. Instead of going on a date, I
went with my friends. The days leading to prom were very hectic. Prom always occurred during
soccer season. I am the captain of my soccer team so I was very concerned with the potential
schedule conflict. We were scheduled to have a playoff game on prom night and everybody was
upset. As a captain, all the responsibility was on me and I did not want to let my team down. My
coach and I had a meeting to discuss the possibility of switching the game. During the meeting, I
negotiated having the game on my birthday, which was two days before prom. Surprisingly the
game was moved to my birthday. It turns out that we won and were advancing to round three of the
state playoffs. Now, I could finally focus on my pre prom activities. It was time to get my nails,
eyebrows, and hair done. Finally, prom day was here and I was very excited. I have waited for
all high school for this very moment. The first thing I did was go get my hair done early that
morning. During my hair appointment, I was pumped with adrenalin and excitement. After my
hair appointment was complete I had a little break before I went to my next appointment. The
next thing I had to do was to get my makeup done. After my makeup was complete I was ready to
get dress. Then got dressed and had a mini photo shoot at my house before my prom festivities
started. For dinner, my friends and I decided to eat at Basan then head to the prom venue. When
we arrived at prom there was a long line to go inside. Once inside the building, it was lit but
extremely hot at that same time. As soon as you walked in it was 100 degrees. My friends and I
kept going upstairs and downstairs to prevent our hair and makeup from messing up. There was a
lot of dancing and eating during prom. Everybody s shoes were off and their hair was an absolute
mess.

The Effect Of Magnetic Permeability On The Magnetic Field
Aeromagnetic Data
Theory
Scalar aeromagnetic data comprise both induced and remanent magnetic fields. Induced magnetism
is caused by the earth s magnetic field and is mainly the result of the magnetic susceptibility of the
rock. Magnetic susceptibility is expressed as a unit less proportionality constant denoted by an
International System of Units (SI), which reflects the susceptibility of a rock to become magnetized
in the presence of a magnetic field. This susceptibility is mainly a function of the rock s magnetite
content. In general, higher susceptibility rocks produce greater variability in magnetic amplitudes
than low susceptibility counterparts (Ford et al. 2008; Anderson et al. 2013; Table 2).The remanent
component is a function of the magnetic, mechanical, and thermal history of a rock and is not
affected by the inducing magnetic field in which it is measured. In most cases, the induced
component of the magnetic field is predominant. However, remanent magnetization is commonly
dominant in igneous rocks (Anderson et al. 2013) which can result in negative polarization and
subsequent negative amplitude magnetic lows.
Structural Interpretation of Aeromagnetic Data
Aeromagnetic data indicate the OB is bound to the north by the Quetico fault and to the south by
the Vermillion and Rainy Lake Seine River faults (Fig. 3, Fig. 4). The geometry of regional faults
suggests the OB occurs in a pressure shadow of a large sigma shaped wedge of volcanoplutonic
rocks and the

Routine Activities Theory
According to the routine activities theory, the cause of crime should not be attributed to social
causes, such as poverty, inequality, and unemployment, rather it holds that crime is the result of
opportunity. The more opportunity there is for crime, the more likely that crime will occur in that
specific area. However, in order for there to be an increased opportunity for crime, the three
necessary conditions of this theory must be present: a likely offender, a suitable target, and the
absence of capable guardianship. Consequently, the routine activities theory is a strong explanation
for crime in Ames, Iowa. According to Area Vibes, Ames has crime rates that are 25% lower than
the Iowa mean and 37% lower than the nation s mean. Yet, while Ames has relatively low crime

Thus, it seems that crime in Ames is best explained by the growing opportunity for crime as the
routine activities theory holds, rather than unfavorable social conditions. In a community with
relatively low crime rates, it can be difficult to point out areas in Ames that are at the most risk for
crime. However, after looking at crime data and

Pros And Cons Of Drinking Water
The Carlsbad desalination idea is not a practical way to get drinking water for the people of
California. Obviously, it is a serious risk to the environment, and comes with many more cons than
pros. Why damage our world long term not that we haven t done that already when we can just find
other ways to get water for the Californians?
First of all, desalination is highly expensive. According to the NewsELA article titled, California
Tries One Solution to Water Problems Treating Seawater, by the Sacramento Bee staff, getting
water will cost $2,257 per acre foot. This is double the price of the authority s most expensive
supply of water now. Double! Already the U.S. is investing too much money in things that could
be solved in a much more practical way. We don t need desalination to provide water to people.
Clearly, desalination is not a realistic idea, due to the cost of it. People s water bills will go
shoot through the roof, and the project is expected to cost $1 billion. One acre foot can only
serve two average homes per year, meaning that desalination will only meet 7% of San Diego s
annual water needs. 7% is not worth it. 7% will do nothing but damage the oceans and ocean life.
Think about it this way: say that a county has 150 homes in it (which isn t even a close number,
by the way). Now take those 150 homes and multiply that by 2,257. The total is 338,550, meaning
it will take approximately $350,000 to supply these homes with only 7% of the water that they

Healthcare Payers In Competitive Markets
Hospitals generally compete with each other. In such an atmosphere of fierce competition,
managers must assess the ability of their organizations to influence the prices paid for the
services offered. (Gapenski, 2008, p.194). And because most services provided in such
marketplace are similar in nature, the economic theory suggest that prices will be set forth by
local supply and demand conditions. Thus, the actions of a single participant, whether the
participant is a provider or a payer, cannot influence the prices set in the marketplace. (Gapenski,
2008, p.194). In such a competitive market, the prices of services are constrained and as such,
providers are said to be price takers. Moreover, some healthcare payers

Market History
The oldest direct seller of personal care products is Avon. It was originally known as the
California Perfume Company and was founded in 1886 by a New York book salesman named
David H. McConnell. As a door to door salesman of books, he offered bottles of perfume as a
free gift with each purchase. He soon realized that many of the housewives who purchased books
weren t really interested in the books at all, but rather in the free bottles of perfume. Consequently,
McConnell entered the fragrances and cosmetic business opening the first office in New York.
Soon thereafter, a door to door sales force was built and by the turn of the 20th century, the
company employed more than 10,000 representatives and supported their efforts with a growing
line of fragrances, cosmetics, and other beauty products developed in their very own research
laboratory and production facility.
The company began selling its products in Canada in 1914 and reached a sales milestone of 5
million units. By 1928, sales had grown to

Utopia Vision Statement
When I first began college, I knew that I wanted to major in civil engineering; However,
knowing that my major would take up all of my units after finishing the general education
classes, I knew that I could not afford to take any extra classes, to explore and expand my own
curiosity and knowledge of what is available. Instead, I decided to invest my academic career
focusing on engineering. As freshman students began college, many students asked themselves
that oh so common and over beaten life question what is the point of college?, while others
wondered if it was it a place to explore and discover more about one s self. Well now, thanks to
Kwame Anthony Appiah, who teaches philosophy at N.Y.U. and wrote an article What Is the
Point of College?, he explains two visions which are Utility U. and Utopia U. as well as the
habits students possess at the start of college. As students first enter the college world they go
through what is known as, Utility and/or Utopia vision; However, one vision would be stronger
than the other. A Utility vision is when you want to know if you are getting a profitable return in
an investment, while the same students are also act out the role of a consumer. Utility U. possess

Policy/Procedure Proposal: Service Dogs
This policy is a proposed policy to govern service dogs within the district. In Fry v. Napoleon
Community Schools, there was no policy or guidelines for implementing service dogs as an
accommodation for students. IDEA requires public schools to provide all children with disabilities

IEP/504 Plan Specifications for service dog accommodations for students will be written into an
IEP or 504 Plan. For students in need of a service dog accommodation who do not have a current
IEP or 504 Plan, the parent(s) may call the school to request a meeting to convene the IEP/504
team in order to determine which document would be most appropriate for the student. If a student
has a current IEP or 504 Plan and requires a service dog accommodation, the parent(s) of the
student may request that an addendum be written to add the accommodation to the IEP or 504 Plan.
Training
According to Florida Statute 413.08 2d, a service dog is, an animal that is trained to do work or
perform tasks for an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric,
intellectual, or other mental disability.
Service dogs must be trained (for service dogs, see В§ 413.08 2D of the Florida Statutes, and 28

Compare And Contrast Snow White And Ethan Frome
Elizabeth Ammons compares Edith Wharton s Ethan Frome to the fairy tale Snow White by the
Grimm Brothers. In her comparison, Ethan Frome is the honest woodcutter , Zeena Frome is the
witch , and Mattie Silver is the silvery maiden . Ammons also notes that the novel is full of fairy
tale elements, however, does not have a typical happy ending. Snow White is about a beautiful,
young lady whose mother died during childbirth and then has an evil stepmother who is the new
queen. In Ethan Frome, Mattie s parents die; she has basically nothing. Zeena feels bad for her and
takes her in to be her servant. Mattie and Zeena are cousins and are related just like Snow White

Hunger in the World
Millions of people in the world went to bed hungry last night. The amount of food in the world
is unevenly distributed and adequately produced to satisfy the needs of humanities growing
population. The hunger issue the planet is faced with can be resolved with the conservation of
excess food, the increased use of Genetically Modified Foods (GMFs) and the greater funding of
global relief efforts. As long as people have existed there has been a divide in wealth among
them. Whether it is due to an unavoidable greediness amongst them, or just high levels of apathy
toward their own kind, some have always suffered and others have prospered. There have
always been efforts to alleviate this great inequality among the masses, but few of these have
yielded any notable results. A effort worth mentioning is one observed by P. J. O Rourke in his
book All the Troubles in the World. During an excursion into somalia in 1992 1993 he describes
the desolate condition of the populace as a gigantic board of clue, to which the answer was
everybody in shack with the AK 47. In this part of the world famine is as common as checking

Today, while the soft drinkindustry s value has increased in 2004, the volume sales of carbonated
soft drinks has declined due to a large proportion of consumers who are opting for the trend towards
healthier alternatives in the functional drink segment (energy drinks, smoothies, milk juice drinks,
sports drinks) as well as bottled juices and water (ref.5). Companies have been actively engaged in
new product developments in order to counter the growing concerns about negative health impacts
of high fructose drinks, but also to increase the demand in a market where product offerings are
quickly maturing (ref.4). New flavor introductions and health conscious formulations have been
launched in an attempt to offset the decline in carbonated soft drink sales (ref.6). The functional
market is expected to show sustained growth and consumer interest in the future years as
consumption shifts to trendier, healthier and more sophisticated products (ref.7).
Profitability future growth potential: In 1993, Concentrate Producers earned 29% pretax profits

6. A proposed communication strategy throughout the implementation of the marketing activities.
Your communication strategy should ensure that all team members are kept informed of each other
sactivities.
Draft an email, formal letter or other written response: since the involved stakeholders of this
project are from both internal and external consultants and experts, emails, business letters and
correspondences are the best and efficient way to convey and deliver the required business
messages and information among them. There is some special requirement during the
communication process that all the emails and business letters should be copied to all the involved
stakeholders to ensure all the parties receive the important business information and decisions.
Organize a meeting: in case of any business requirements a formal meeting should be arranged
and conducted to ensure the critical business decisions are made during the meeting. It is
recommended all the invited meeting participants should attend the meeting and all the decisions
should be made during the meeting conduction. In addition all the inquiries and confusion should
be brought up to the meeting and ensure all the discussion are transparent and thorough. After the
meeting conduction detailed and accurate meeting minutes will be distributed all the participants
and those absent.

Pattern Of Behavior In Charles Baxter s Gryphon
In the story Gryphon (fictional) by Charles Baxter, There are two main question that are
important to the whole entire story. Why does Tommy defend Miss Ferenczi? And What do you
learn about Tommy from this pattern of behavior? There are some evidence to actually solve the
answers. The first explanation to question to why Tommy likes Mrs. F is that on page (57, line
430 to 431) it talks about how Tommy was telling Carl Whiteside, the boy who has bad breath
and collect lots of marbles in a jar about a fake combination to make it sound real so he

changes that Mrs.F did to herself. Therefore it was a surprise when a woman we had never seen

She had put her hair down and twisted it into pigtails, with red rubber bands holding them tight

The Importance Of War In Poems
Good morning class, this morning/ afternoon I will be discussing how war is represented within
society and how text structures and stylistic devices help to emphasise war within poems. I will
be reading and analysing the poems Perhaps by Vera Brittain in 1919 and In Flanders Fields by
John McRae in 1915.
Perhaps and In Flanders Fields are both a Lyric poem and are about the feelings of grief and
sorrow for loved ones lost in war. Perhaps was written by V. Brittain in response to the death of
her late fiancГ© Roland Aubrey Leighton, who was killed at the age of 20 by a sniper in 1915,
only four months after she had accepted his marriage proposal. In Flanders Fields was written
by J.McRae in response to the death of his friend and fellow soldier Lieutenant Alexis Helmer
killed In action on the 2nd of May 1915. The theme of these poems is loss. This theme is explored
through the poet s use of tone and mood, the poetic techniques used and the social comment the
poem makes. Each of these will be discussed in detail today.
The theme of perhaps is emphasised through the tone and mood of the poem. The moods of the
poem are sadness and grief. This is created through the use of repetition, enjambment and alternate
rhyme. Thought the poem Brittian uses repetition in the form of the words perhaps and although to
emphasis the fact that although her fiancГ© has passed, perhaps she will find happens again.
Enjambment followed by a pause is used at the end of the poem in the lines

The Oak Island Money Pit
The Discovery
The Oak Island Money Pit was discovered the summer of 1795 by Daniel McGinnis. He was
drawn into the island by strange lights visible from his house. Upon his investigation, he comes
across a block and tackle hung directly over a circular indentation on the island s floor. Daniel,
along with two of his friends John Smith and Anthony Vaughan started to dig out the bizarre pit.
Their curiosity is due to that time period being the pinnacle of the Golden Age of Piracy (Maritime
Museum of the Atlantic). In hopes of finding treasure, Daniel and his friends were the first of a
long list of people to take up the Oak Island Money Pit. After two attempts, their fascination grew

Plausible Theories
Word about the Money Pit has spread since its discovery and people from all over North America
were fascinated. From lawyers, businessmen, doctors, actors and even a president was curious about
the mysterious site. Many theories have been contemplated, but not one in particular has been fully
certified to be the truth. The most popular theories are those of pirates. Captain William Kidd was
said to have admitted in burying treasure in the Oak Island area before he was captured in 1699,
but suspicions are that he would not have had enough money to construct the Money Pit. The other
pirate that is though to have established the Money Pit is Blackbeard. Blackbeard has been
associated with Oak Island and that he has mentioned having an underground treasure, where none
but Satan and [him]self can find it (Blackbeard), but there is no evidence of the treasure being in
Oak Island. Another theory is that the Money Pit is simply a natural phenomenon. A part of the
structure is unquestionably man made because of the stone tablet and the platforms every 10 feet,
but the rest is thought to be a sinkhole, which would explain all of the flooding.
Conclusion
Today the secret of the Oak Island Money Pit remain unknown. The island s floor is marked by
200 years of digging by people in hopes of finding the contents that lay within. Weather the Money
Pit contains treasure or if it is merely a work of nature, the Oak Island Money Pit

The Philosophy Of Moral Philosophy
Moral Philosophy is rooted in four areas of standards, one of which is the central focus of
Hedonist thinking. The standard of moral philosophy that corresponds directly to Hedonism is
known as the Value Theory. The Value Theory establishes what is valuable in and of itself, what is
worth pursuing for its own sake 1. Goods that are valuable in their own right are intrinsic values, as
referred to in the previous sentence. Contrary to intrinsic values, instrumental goods have the ability
to lead to valuable things, but don t themselves hold significant value.
Hedonism, at its core, is centered around the pursuit of pleasure and the elimination of pain.
Consequently, when this balance obtained, Hedonist s will argue that an individual is leading a
tranquil life. Above all else, Hedonist philosophers John Stewart Mill and Epicurus, place pleasure
on a pedestal, in the way that pleasure stands alone when considering what is good in its own right.
Furthermore, they provide their insights on goes into the moral doctrine of Hedonism. The ultimate
good , according to the Hedonist school of thought, is always pleasure, however, this is not a united
stance by all philosophers 2. Opponents to Hedonist thinking, include Jean Kazez, Robert Nozick,
and Chris Heathwood. I argue that pleasure is not the only intrinsic good, rather it is one among
many other goods that hold intrinsic value. To assert my position, I will first discuss Epicurus and
Mill s explanation on what makes

In an ancient Greek proverb that goes as follows Everything in Moderation the concept of
balancing the aspects of one s life is championed. Epicurus offers an almost entirely contradictory

Epicurus. Serene Hedonismoffers the perspective that the only truly valuable thing in life is that of
pleasure while this philosophy initially may sound appealing it lacks any development in a
meaningful purpose for an individual other than maximizing pleasures of the senses. The largest
counter to this argument exists in the question on whether or not one would trade there life with

will impact the quality of the film and the story. This is because producers and directors are

Essay on Multiculturalism in Canada
Multiculturalism is the existence of a culturally diversified society where people from different
backgrounds and races come and live together. However an insight of this integrated society reveals
that everyone seems to have a different opinion on the issue of how this diverse community should
operate. One of the countries of North America called the mosaic is Canada. It has earned this
distinct name because of the mix of races, cultures and ethnicities residing in it. Canada s
geographical features and its harsh climate became a disadvantage to its population growth many
years ago. Compared to its size, the population of Canada was not sufficient a few decades ago.

The government of Canada decided that the country could be a mosaic of cultures where people
from different countries could keep their nationalities and still be called canadian therefore allowing
an influx of different cultures. The royal commission came up with the idea of cultural pluralism
and encouraged the government to reflect this in their policies. Pierre Elliot Trudeau, the prime
minster in 1917 accepted this policy called the multiculturalism policy. In 1988, the governement
of Canada also imposed the Multiculturalism Act . The factors influencing these two policies/acts
were quite similiar to one another. In mid 1960s, the troubled English French realtions in
Canada desperately needed a solution. They preferred the idea of a cultural mosaic. After
establishing this policy racism reduced significantly as every ethnic group was to be treated the
same way, allowing canada to be a cultural hub. In the context of theory so far everything seems
to be working smoothly but the real question that we need to ask ourself is whether
multiculturalism is working in our society or not ? Do we feel comfortable living amogst all the
different kinds of people and are content with our lifestyle? Take education for an example. A

The Theme Of Murder In Macbeth
Shakespearean Murder Blood, death, and violence; these are just a few words that go along with
a way of death known as murder. It s one of the more common ways of dying and is frequently
seen on the news and social media. As such, people always seems to take an interest in this topic.
There s a mysterious attraction to the subject of murder, whether in a mystery book, on television
shows, or simply mentioned in a news article. What makes a death murder, though? Murder, as
defined by Oxford Dictionaries, is the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by
another. Many simply define it as taking someone else s life. In Macbeth, William Shakespeare
illustrates the many forms of murder and establishes how it is wrong. One of the more interesting
parts of this way of death is the motive, or reason, people choose to murder one another. The
actual interest itself lies in the main four reasons for murder; to gain power, exact revenge, dispose
of any opposition or witnesses, and sometimes for sheer pleasure. In Macbeth, Shakespeare clearly

There are many ways to kill people, whether intentional or accidental. In Macbeth, Shakespeare

What Is The Allegory In Lord Of The Flies
Author William Golding s use of symbolism and deep meaning in objects, location and
characters are examples of allegory. Allegory is a story were objects and characters symbolize
more than their literal meaning. William Golding s Lord of the Flies is about a group of British
schoolboys who survive a plane crash and find themselves on a deserted island. Without any adult
guidance the boys have to learn to adapt and have control over themselves. The novels protagonists,
Ralph and Jack, have problems and create conflict and tension throughout the story. Lord of the
flies is an allegorical novel because it connects to the novel s main ideas and theme. The whole
allegorical meaning behind Lord of the Flies revolves around the time the book was written. The
novel was written during the 1950s. The 1950s was known as the post war era. In the novel Jack
struggled to obey Ralphs rules and they never got along. At one point jack left and created his own
group with the boys who went along with him. Ralph cared more about the well being of the boys

Jack and Ralph both served separate leaders for both of the sides. Jack was more like a dictator
he only cared about being in control and having power over the other boys. Ralph could be
considered as the reasonable and responsible leader. He cared about protecting the boys and made
plans on how they could get off the island. The split between the boys doesn t only mean a split
between the boy it also means the beginning of two political groups.
Lord of the flies is an allegory; which is demonstrated by politics and human nature. Golding s
allegorical uses connects to the novel s main idea and theme. It connects to the main idea and theme
because it uses human nature and politics to tell a separate meaning from the novels literal
meaning. He does this by giving characters, objects and locations deeper

Throughout the time of the Great depression many people were homeless and unemployed. It was
caused by enormous growth of goods and prices of shares in the United States during 1920s.
Companies were producing more products than they could sell, while most Americans could not
afford it because they were too poor. Also investors borrowed money from banks to buy shares
so they could sell them for quick profits when prices rose. In 1920s this caused share prices
reached unrealistic amounts and when investors lost confidence they rushed to sell shares,
prices collapsed. Results in this huge fall meant demands for goods vanished and people were
left unemployed and banks closed while poverty spread. Australia also was affected because
Australia owed a large and increasing amount of interest to overseas lenders. Many works were
left unemployed and in 1932 employment rates were 29.0. A picture of an Australia family can

Essay On Assembly Line Medicine
The assembly line was introduced during the industrial revolution: transforming manufacturing and
allowing technology to flourish. Although this procedure is useful when dealing with machines, it
can be detrimental in more human centered careers namingly medicine, in which the most
effective treatments are those which are tailored to the individual. However, assembly line
medicine has been increasingly implemented into the medical field today. Rather than tailored
treatments, a one size fits all approach is being forced on unwilling doctors. Now, the practice of
medicine is much like a broken machine. Assembly line medicine, the idea that medicine is
becoming more procedure based and requires less on the part of doctors, corrupts medicine. In
order to combat this, emphasis should be placed on healing and there should be decreased
bureaucracy. One symptom of assembly line medicine is the increase of suicide rates among
doctors. In today s age, doctors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Race Track Driving Lessons
The most fun I have had was taking race track driving lessons at the Auto Club Speedway in
Fontana, CA from a professional driver. It was a great experience since I had the ability to check
all the technical components of the track car and driver precautions before driving it on the track.
He taught me the fundamentals of drivingfast consisting of the following: oversteer, understeer, the
racing line, shifting, passing, braking, smooth vs aggressive cornering. Additionally, I always kept
an open mind to other experienced track drivers that gave me tips on how to take the corners
quickly: braking point, turn in point, apex, as well as analyze the position and direction of the next
corner. After that particular track day, not only did I learn... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

My Long Term Goals
Helping in impoverished communities has been a goal of mine for many years now. I go on
mission trips to Jamaica for two weeks at a time, every year, for the past three years. These mission
trips have shaped me into the person I am today and they have also carved out the path in which I
want to lead my life. For many years now, I have wanted to work in a place like Jamaica and
provide medical care. This is obviously a long term goal, because who would let an 18 year old
give them medical advice? Having said that, I have a plan on how I am going to accomplish this
goal. Built into this plan is many different short term goals, but in the end my long term goal is to
become a doctor and work in developing countries like Jamaica. I have been wanting to become a

Mr. Berry was my biology teacher my sophomore year and is currently my AP biology teacher.
He has helped me in so many ways that I can t even keep track. Mr. Berry teaches with so much

I am so interested in the way the human body works. He lit a fire in me that has yet to be
extinguished. From the day I stepped foot into sophomore year biology to right now currently in
AP biology, I have yet to be anything less than extremely fascinated in the wonderful world of
biology and medicine in particular. Long term and short term goals are great, but only if I have a
plan to accomplish them. Luckily enough, that is exactly what I have. I am a very driven and
self motivated individual. I know that if I set my mind on accomplishing something, I will
accomplish it. I want to become a doctor in order to help impoverished people all over the world

Gladiator Facts
Introductory Gladiator truth or fiction? For my essay I have chosen to do Gladiator. Gladiator
is a movie that was portrayed at the time of 180 AD in Rome. At this time the leader of Rome
was Marcus Aurelius, but is soon met with the termination of his reign and his son Lucius
Aurelius Commodus takes his place. Commodus was a well known gladiator before and during
his time of Emperor. His father, Marcus Aurelius was a great philosopher as well as a military
tactician. The main character is Maximus Decimus Meridius who is fictional character used in the
film to create this all around hero type character. Furthermore, some even suggest Maximus is a
character made from a mixture of a multitude of great warriors and gladiators of that time. Three...

Examples Of What Does One Voice In A Prayer For Owen Meany
m maSome of the smallest people have the loudest and most powerful voices. John Irving
demonstrates that with Owen and Johnny in his novel A Prayer for Owen Meany. Owen is
exceedingly small with a high pitched voice and he is also extremely powerful, while Johnny is
average and does not speak up. They are different sizes and both have different impacts on
people. Owen is not afraid to speak freely about the thing that he adores or has a strong animosity
for, and his confidence shines through and touches people, while John is the one telling the story,
no one knows how he feels about anything except Owen. He uses his voice to talk about Owen.
John does not impact anyone in anyway besides his father. There are various examples of how one
voice can inspire and motivate others to think and react a certain way that their inspiration directed
them to be. John Irvinguses Owen s voice as a way to show how one s voice can affect others; for
instance, Owen is used to send a message showing that everyone s voice is effective.

Ebay Strategic Analysis
Executive Summary
This report seeks to evaluate the major issue facing eBay with regards to its international strategy.
This will be done through the analysis of eBay s competitive environment using the Porter s 5
forces and positioning in the industry using the BCG portfolio matrix. Following which, we will
proceed to identify the sustainable competitive advantages of eBay using the resource based view
of the firm. The core competence of eBay will also be discussed. Through an overview of the
above mentioned analyses, we will propose recommendations to address the problem faced by eBay.
Major Issue
From the case, our group has identified a major issue which is imperative to eBay s future growth
and sustainability.
EBay has been doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it should be noted that not all webhosting companies are able to host the colossal traffic
required by eBay. In addition, eBay would preferably choose a webhosting option that is reliable
and offers round the clock customer service since people conduct business over eBay round the
clock.
Next, there is a moderate threat of substitute services. More and more offline companies are
tapping on the vast potential of the online market through the creation of their online retail sites.
For example, if someone wants to get a Dell computer, he may choose to go to Dell s online store
to purchase it. However, the uniqueness of the online auction site is that almost everything under
the sun can be listed for sale. If a person is looking to buy something special, he can more often
than not find it listed on eBay.
Lastly, there is a great intensity of rivalry among the competitors in the industry. Because of the
potentially lucrative market in Asia, there are many competitors wanting a slice of the pie and that
includes search engine giant, Google. In China, Alibaba owned Taobao is already providing
intense competition by providing zero listing costs and providing customer service catered to the
needs of the local population[2]. In Korea, Gmarket is also providing intense competition by
continuously introducing new marketing initiatives such as the lucky lottery where buyers may be
able to purchase an item for 10% of its retail

Thomas Kuhn Argues That Normal Science Inevitably Runs...
B)Short Answer Questions: Answer two of the following questions (no more than one page each)
(20 points each: 40pts)
2.In The Structure of Scientific Revolutions Thomas Kuhn argues that normal science inevitably
runs into a crisis. Why is it necessarily the case? Is there a way to avoid scientific crises? In
Thomas Kuhn s paradigm cycle, normal science inevitably leads to an anomaly, which eventually
leads into a crisis. If the current existing theory in the paradigm fails to solve the puzzles of normal
science, it will eventually call for a new theory to take its place. Kuhn further expresses that,
although, normal science holds the objective of creating boundaries and structure in the scientific
community, and thus, suppressing ideas and findings outside of this structure, normal science is
also a driving force of the creation of anomalies and an eventual paradigm shift. Scientists ultimate
goal is to unravel the truth of the universe. Normal science and the existing paradigm are
successful, in the beginning, in aiding and justifying scientific findings of that time. However, as
experiments and research methods progress and advance with time, the polished version of the
theories and concepts may start to conflict with the initial paradigm. It is the success of normal
science, which is inevitable through time, that leads to an, thus, inevitable crisis. The increasing
precision and improvement of understanding the paradigm, makes the paradigm an easier target to

The Punishment Should Be Legal Punishment
There are several rights that each person in the world have. These rights are not a gifts from
anybody, but they are inherent rights that people obtain as a human being, such as the right to life

the emergence of prison as a punishment and its aims.
In the medieval ages, the main objective of penalty was retaliation and people were reprise from the
offenders individually. After that, the sanction developed from individual revenge to collective
retribution which was executed under the supervision of the controlled groups and wrongdoers
were penalized physically. Before the end 18th century, deprivation from liberty and imprison

Cap And Trade Case Study Environmental and Economic Aspects of CAP and Trade Laiba Inam Ryerson University Economy and Environment ECN511 70E Dr. Amanda Ackerman Environmental and Economic Aspects of CAP and Trade Up to 16,000 Canadians die each year because of high pollution levels and poor air quality (City Of Windsor 2016). Air pollution is the world s largest health risk. Pollution and climate change is a major global issue. Canada is the ninth largest emitter of greenhouse gas that needs to enact a climate policy [1] (Mildenberger et al. 2016). Greenhouse gasses are emitted by Human activities such as energy industries, transportation, residential and commercial activities, manufacturing, construction, industrial processes, and agriculture (AyЕџegГјl ... Ontario sets caps on the total emissions for 2017 to 2020 (cap in 2017 is set at 143,332,000). The objective of Ontario s greenhouse gas reduction is to be 15% below 1990 levels by 2020, 37% below 1990 levels by 2030 and 80% below 1990 levels by 2050. Other Jurisdictions CAP and Trade is a cost effective method for reducing emissions. The world s largest implementation of Greenhouse gas trading system is the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and they have been environmentally ineffective. The result of price crash non stability in California and Quebec are also environmentally ineffective. In 2016, the emphasis was on EU ETS s fourth phase (2021 2030) which was what the European Commission, presented changes for. The purpose of the presented changes is to bring the cap into line with the EU s 2030 objective, reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions to at least 40% nationally by 2030. The EU provides a better goal of free allocation rules and further supports low carbon innovation and energy sector transformation. To meet the legal requirements and to compensate for excess pollution EU ETS should reduce GHG emissions, and buy emission allowances in the carbon market. They could also reduce GHG emissions ... • 3. The Important Role Of Bureaucracy In The United States I strongly believe that the bureaucracy is the real government. We the people just have a person in office claiming to get things done. While congress passes laws, it would be somewhat impossible for congress to make all the decisions that have to be made to translate the laws into action or to make policies and choose actions on how the laws are to be carried out and enforced. So, then it looks like bureaucrats run our country. Bureaucrats serve an important role by working with interest groups to help get legislation presented to congressional subcommittees. Now with bureaucrats they all come together from different agencies to form governmentpolicies. We Americans still have no clue as to what really happens in those meetings or what anyone... An example of a huge iron triangle would be the American Association for Retired People (AARP), the House Subcommittee on Aging, and the Social Security Administration all working together to set government policy on Social Security. They have a goal of keeping the elderly all together and looking out for their well being. • 4. Makeup Industry Analysis Paper For the black woman struggling to find the right shade of makeup have no fear! It has always been very difficult to find shades of foundation that represent the numerous numbers of shades the melanin filled woman, or man, comes in. The beauty industry is now expanding! Each of these products has been evaluated first hand by friends, family, top beauty gurus, and me. I will evaluate the price, product coverage, and color spectrum of each product. The price determines affordability and product quality. Product coverage tells how much surface area the makeup will cover and how much product is used to achieve that coverage. The final and perhaps most important quality of a foundation brand is the color spectrum available. If a brand only limits itself to the skin tones of a light skin African American or even a tanned Caucasian then that brand is not considered POC, People of Color, friendly. Product range matters, especially when trying to reach a large audience. Starting with Kat Von D s Lock it Foundation, this foundation is for those who are trying to look their absolute best 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In fact, medicine would dress up as an Oncologist and drop me off to school every morning, but still no love. If anything, I hated it since I would see sick and sad people as I would wait on my father to finish his clinic on our way home. To me these patients were nothing more than a hurdle between me and my Nintendo and Sega. It was during one of those traffic jams on our way home that my emotions boiled over and I blurted out, What is it that you do, delay the inevitable. Make their existence more painful and miserable as they wait on becoming a worm buffet. Torture them with your chemicals and radiations until they blink eternally. What? I am glad I wasn t my father that day or I would have lost it, Medicineaka dad did not. That day, he should have given me a piece of his minds but instead he opted for giving me a piece of his heart. Having gone through the motions of school and feeling lost all along, I had finally found the path in my life, that too in the most unlikely of places... a traffic jam. Life just switched gears. A lot of hard work went into getting from that traffic jam to medical school . Basic science years taught me all about the structure and function of the miracle that is the human body. Clinical rotations taught me that there was a lot more to that structure and function then I thought, and what I was taught. The more I learnt the more I felt I needed to learn. It seemed as if there was absolutely nothing for miles on end or so I thought. I could see a patch of pink in the distance, amongst all the dry land. Nowadays my eye sight is about as reliable as a chocolate teapot, so I grabbed the nearest pair of binoculars I could find. • 15. Descriptive Essay On Senior Prom Senior Prom I have been waiting for my senior prom since my freshman year of high school. My senior prom was amazing; from pre prom festivities, prom, and all the after parties. I did not go to prom my junior year so it was my final chance. My family and friends told me I needed to have this experience in my life. I figured they were correct, so I decided to go. Instead of going on a date, I went with my friends. The days leading to prom were very hectic. Prom always occurred during soccer season. I am the captain of my soccer team so I was very concerned with the potential schedule conflict. We were scheduled to have a playoff game on prom night and everybody was upset. As a captain, all the responsibility was on me and I did not want to let my team down. My coach and I had a meeting to discuss the possibility of switching the game. During the meeting, I negotiated having the game on my birthday, which was two days before prom. Surprisingly the game was moved to my birthday. It turns out that we won and were advancing to round three of the state playoffs. Now, I could finally focus on my pre prom activities. It was time to get my nails, eyebrows, and hair done. Finally, prom day was here and I was very excited. I have waited for all high school for this very moment. The first thing I did was go get my hair done early that morning. During my hair appointment, I was pumped with adrenalin and excitement. After my hair appointment was complete I had a little break before I went to my next appointment. The next thing I had to do was to get my makeup done. After my makeup was complete I was ready to get dress. Then got dressed and had a mini photo shoot at my house before my prom festivities started. For dinner, my friends and I decided to eat at Basan then head to the prom venue. When we arrived at prom there was a long line to go inside. Once inside the building, it was lit but extremely hot at that same time. As soon as you walked in it was 100 degrees. My friends and I kept going upstairs and downstairs to prevent our hair and makeup from messing up. There was a lot of dancing and eating during prom. Everybody s shoes were off and their hair was an absolute mess. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. The Effect Of Magnetic Permeability On The Magnetic Field Aeromagnetic Data Theory Scalar aeromagnetic data comprise both induced and remanent magnetic fields. Induced magnetism is caused by the earth s magnetic field and is mainly the result of the magnetic susceptibility of the rock. Magnetic susceptibility is expressed as a unit less proportionality constant denoted by an International System of Units (SI), which reflects the susceptibility of a rock to become magnetized in the presence of a magnetic field. This susceptibility is mainly a function of the rock s magnetite content. In general, higher susceptibility rocks produce greater variability in magnetic amplitudes than low susceptibility counterparts (Ford et al. 2008; Anderson et al. 2013; Table 2).The remanent component is a function of the magnetic, mechanical, and thermal history of a rock and is not affected by the inducing magnetic field in which it is measured. In most cases, the induced component of the magnetic field is predominant. However, remanent magnetization is commonly dominant in igneous rocks (Anderson et al. 2013) which can result in negative polarization and subsequent negative amplitude magnetic lows. Structural Interpretation of Aeromagnetic Data Aeromagnetic data indicate the OB is bound to the north by the Quetico fault and to the south by the Vermillion and Rainy Lake Seine River faults (Fig. 3, Fig. 4). The geometry of regional faults suggests the OB occurs in a pressure shadow of a large sigma shaped wedge of volcanoplutonic rocks and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Routine Activities Theory According to the routine activities theory, the cause of crime should not be attributed to social causes, such as poverty, inequality, and unemployment, rather it holds that crime is the result of opportunity. The more opportunity there is for crime, the more likely that crime will occur in that specific area. However, in order for there to be an increased opportunity for crime, the three necessary conditions of this theory must be present: a likely offender, a suitable target, and the absence of capable guardianship. Consequently, the routine activities theory is a strong explanation for crime in Ames, Iowa. According to Area Vibes, Ames has crime rates that are 25% lower than the Iowa mean and 37% lower than the nation s mean. Yet, while Ames has relatively low crime rates, crime is not non existent, and poverty, unemployment, and inequality are unsuccessful attempts to explain it. Home of Iowa State University, Ames ranked third in the nation for Best College Town last year, and the area continues to grow not only in population, but also in diversity and opportunity as over 35,000 students pour in from all over the world every year. Thus, it seems that crime in Ames is best explained by the growing opportunity for crime as the routine activities theory holds, rather than unfavorable social conditions. In a community with relatively low crime rates, it can be difficult to point out areas in Ames that are at the most risk for crime. However, after looking at crime data and ... • 20. Pros And Cons Of Drinking Water The Carlsbad desalination idea is not a practical way to get drinking water for the people of California. Obviously, it is a serious risk to the environment, and comes with many more cons than pros. Why damage our world long term not that we haven t done that already when we can just find other ways to get water for the Californians? First of all, desalination is highly expensive. According to the NewsELA article titled, California Tries One Solution to Water Problems Treating Seawater, by the Sacramento Bee staff, getting water will cost $2,257 per acre foot. This is double the price of the authority s most expensive supply of water now. Double! Already the U.S. is investing too much money in things that could be solved in a much more practical way. We don t need desalination to provide water to people. Clearly, desalination is not a realistic idea, due to the cost of it. People s water bills will go shoot through the roof, and the project is expected to cost $1 billion. One acre foot can only serve two average homes per year, meaning that desalination will only meet 7% of San Diego s annual water needs. 7% is not worth it. 7% will do nothing but damage the oceans and ocean life. Think about it this way: say that a county has 150 homes in it (which isn t even a close number, by the way). Now take those 150 homes and multiply that by 2,257. The standard of moral philosophy that corresponds directly to Hedonism is known as the Value Theory. The Value Theory establishes what is valuable in and of itself, what is worth pursuing for its own sake 1. Goods that are valuable in their own right are intrinsic values, as referred to in the previous sentence. Contrary to intrinsic values, instrumental goods have the ability to lead to valuable things, but don t themselves hold significant value. In Macbeth, William Shakespeare illustrates the many forms of murder and establishes how it is wrong. One of the more interesting parts of this way of death is the motive, or reason, people choose to murder one another. B)Short Answer Questions: Answer two of the following questions (no more than one page each) (20 points each: 40pts) 2.In The Structure of Scientific Revolutions Thomas Kuhn argues that normal science inevitably runs into a crisis. Why is it necessarily the case? Is there a way to avoid scientific crises? In Thomas Kuhn s paradigm cycle, normal science inevitably leads to an anomaly, which eventually leads into a crisis. If the current existing theory in the paradigm fails to solve the puzzles of normal science, it will eventually call for a new theory to take its place. Kuhn further expresses that, although, normal science holds the objective of creating boundaries and structure in the scientific community, and thus, suppressing ideas and findings outside of this structure, normal science is also a driving force of the creation of anomalies and an eventual paradigm shift. Scientists ultimate goal is to unravel the truth of the universe. Normal science and the existing paradigm are successful, in the beginning, in aiding and justifying scientific findings of that time. However, as experiments and research methods progress and advance with time, the polished version of the theories and concepts may start to conflict with the initial paradigm. It is the success of normal science, which is inevitable through time, that leads to an, thus, inevitable crisis. The increasing precision and improvement of understanding the paradigm, makes the paradigm an easier target to find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
