Collections in a Museum Essay
Imagine you were in charge of a museum s collecting policy. What would you chose
to collect and how would you justify these decisions? Introduction Collections play a
crucial role in fulfilling a museum s mission and purpose. A museum s collection is
defined by its collection policy past and present which in turn helps to shape the
museum s goals and direction. As stewards of collections, museums are expected to
maintain the highest professional standards legally and ethically. The development of
written policies are necessary to govern the management of collections and to
establish the museum s collections related activities to support its mission and guide
the priorities and decision making of its governing authority and its staff.... Show

A mission statement helps guide priorities and decision making. Assessment must be
done to determine the current strengths and weaknesses of the existing collection.
Any proposed acquisitions should be able to address the limits in the existing
collection or plug any gaps in the collection. The acquisition strategy should ensure
that objects to be accepted or otherwise acquired for museum collection shall enhance
and reflect the immediate and long term goals of the museum. The focus of
acquisitions should be to address conspicuous weakness in the current collection. At
the National Museum of Singapore, one of the conspicuous weaknesses includes
objects which represent the minority communities in Singapore, hence the need to
acquire artefacts that address this gap. The current collection is insufficient for
presenting a balanced and objective narrative on the subject. The museum will strive
to acquire artefacts and specimens that generally are complete and in good condition,
and for which provenance is well documented regarding its history. All potential
acquisitions must be thoroughly researched in regards to their provenance, including
proof of ownership prior to acquisition. Acquisitions must not violate any
international laws or conventions and rights of the country. The Museum should only
acquire if it has the resources to provide for storage, protection and preservation of the
objects under conditions that assure their
The Director Is The Conductor And The Audience s Feelings
In cinematography, as Quentin Tarantino discusses in an interview, the director is the
conductor and the audience s feelings are the instrument that directors utilize to
evoke emotion. Directors have many tools they use to evoke the viewer s emotions
and properly captivate the audience. One of the tools directors use to control the
audience, in addition to special effects, is dialogue. Dialogue has the power to push
an audience to tears when a character dies, or make them laugh at the same scene
with different dialogue between the characters. This dialogue is only possible through
the creation of a storyworld where absurd dialogue would be deemed appropriate.
This is what makes Quentin Tarantinosuch an effective director, he has mastered the
skill of controlling the audience s emotions through establishing a storyworld, and
using dialogue with his horrifying scenes. His mastery of evoking emotioncan be seen
in many of his films. Most notably in Pulp Fiction, which won an Oscar and a
Golden Globe for best screenplay. In Pulp Fiction, the viewer finds him or herself in a
whirlwind of emotion, laughing in horror at horrendous acts of violence. The
emotions that are elicited while watching these intense scenes are possible because of
the dialogue Quentin Tarantino uses. He masters the ability to evoke emotion
through outrageous scenes in combination with memorable dialogue. The social
norms within a storyworld, as well as characters ridiculous interactions with each

How Does Shakespeare Use Gender In Hamlet

Gender
Many theatre students will tell you about Shakespeare, who he is, what plays he
has written. But what if a theatre student came up to you and the first thing he said
was that Shakespeare was all about gender and sexuality. Many people in the theater
community may have to agree. If you don t agree your mind may be changed by the
end of this paper. In the plays The Winter s Tale and Hamlet
, you will find that
Shakespeare brings out the theme of gender and sexuality.
In the work of Hamlet you will find that gender uncertainty was there through the use
of incest. One instance of this this that Claudius and Gertrude are married. This is
incest in the substantiality that they were brother in law and sister in law. Another
instance of this is that many time Ophelia and Laertes call each other sexual names.
Many people would find this wrong because they are brother and sister. Although the
biggest sexual wrong is that of Hamlet and Gertrude. Hamlet hates one gender with ...

One occasion of this is that Leontes believes that his wife Hermione is having
sexual relations with Polixenes. He takes punishment on his wife by imprisoning
her while his so called friend Polixenes escapes. The play is full of discrimination
as Leontes greets his wife as nothing . His wife gives birth to a baby daughter.
Leontes claims that she belongs to Polixenes. Then the Baby is sent to a desolate
land far away by the order of Leontes. Through the play Perdita, Leontes s daughter is
sent to build the family back up and heal and mend the relationship with Polixenes.
Polixenes s son Florizel falls in love with Perdita and want to be joined in the bonds
of matrimony. Meanwhile Hermione spends all her time guarding herself against the
biases accusations of her husband Leontes. The play shows the discrimination of

The Ontological Argument For The Existence Of God
Descartes ontological argument is an echo of the original ontological argument for
the existence of God as proposed by St. Anselm in the 11th century. To illustrate the
background of the ontological argument, Anselm s argument works within a distinct
framework of ontology that posits the existence of God as necessity by virtue of its
definition. In other words, for the mind to conceive of an infinite, perfect God,
ultimately implies that there must indeed be a perfect God that embodies existence,
for perfection cannot merely exist as a mental phenomenon. God is, according to
Anselm, self evident in the mind. Criticisms to this argument can be found in Anselm
s contemporary, Gaunilo, who argues that such an argument can be used to put...

To apprehend God is akin to apprehending truths of mathematical nature; they are
found within the contents of the mind and are ontologically and logically true.
Further, mathematical truths have essences which necessitate their existence; for
example, the fact of three angles equalling two right angles is essential to the
existence of the triangle. It is what makes the existing thing what it is. As for the
idea of God, Descartes writes, existence can no more be separated from the essence
of God. . Because God is defined as perfect, it then follows that God must therefore
exist, as existence is itself a perfection. In other words, perfection is existence, and to
not exist would be less than perfect; therefore, the ontological argument argues for
necessity of God s existence by virtue of his perfect essence. Strengths of the
ontological argument, prima facie, are rather superficial and do not withstand
objection if the argument is further probed and examined. Therefore, I do not see
much strength in the argument itself, but in Descartes formulation of it. Firstly, of
the few strengths that are initially brought to mind, the argument employs succinct
propositions and does not rely upon evidence
The Depositional Environments Of The Six Facies Displayed
1.The depositional environments of the six facies displayed in Figure 1 are as follows:
Fore reef (dark blue) The mudstones indicate a low energy environment and small
amounts of skeletal fragments creating a wackestone, suggesting an infrequent
presence of organisms. The conglomerates have formed due to gravity driven flows.
Reef crest (orange) Indicated by the presence of red algae and Schleractinian corals
e.g. .Acropora (Oppen, at el, 2000), which suggests a low energy crest.
Lagoon (light blue) Ooids can precipitate in depths up to 15m (but usually within the
top 5m) indicating a shallow water environment. Green algae and foraminifera
represent a lagoon floor environment whilst the skeletal grainstones are more ... Show

2.The facies distribution in both layers indicate that this platform has a rimmed
shelf geometry, most likely an accretionary rimmed shelf, however there is not
enough distal data to determine how steep the fore reef slope is, see Figure 9
(Read, 1985). This platform follows a distal to proximal trend moving from East to
West. Within layer A, the facies in well A are fore reef and reef crest. Moving
westwards, the abundance of the fore reef decreases as water depth decreases,
allowing the reef and lagoonal facies to become more abundant. The lagoonal
facies in well B will have a higher concentration of skeletal grainstones than green
algae as it will be closer to the lagoon barrier than well C. Well C is dominated by
lagoonal facies with a small amount of a lower intertidal zone facies, indicating a
more proximal environment. Wells D, E and F are dominated by lower intertidal
zones with small deviations into lagoonal and upper intertidal zone facies. The
abundance of anhydrite and gypsum facies increases moving westwards as the
platform becomes more proximal and may be moving into a supratidal facies.
Within layer B, the platform begins with a fore reef slope and reef crest for the first
4km, followed by facies exhibiting a steady decrease in energy moving westwards
(oolitic grain stones to mudstones and wackestones). These layers differ as layer A
has a larger reef crest and a lagoon which extends more distally. The larger reef could

INTRODUCTION
Today, violence based on gender is a horrific and disturbing phenomenon which is
prevalent in any all societies who are irrespective of political boundaries. In different
cultures, there are people who believe in witchcraft, despite society s progression to
be more scientific in temper. One issue which is largely overlooked is witch hunting
which is a form of gender based violence. In traditional India, the practice of witch
hunting was used to ward off evil, however in the past few decades, socio political
motives, such as land grabbing, seem to be more and more common in rural ... Show

This paper will not only examine the contemporary challenges of witch branding
/hunting in rural India that is largely grounded in gender violence and vigilantism,
but it will also explain how the Indian government is or is not addressing the issue
at hand. Examples of what changes can be implemented will also be listed in order
to create a step by step plan for the mitigating of such violent acts as well as providing
the rural Indian community with some basic essentials for maintaining a successful
society.
THE HISTORY OF WITCHES AND WITCH HUNTING
Throughout history, both men and women alike have been branded witches and
been accused of black magic and sorcery only to be hunted and killed in a most
disturbing manner. Women, however, have been the most ubiquitously targeted
gender in every society and era. To define the term witch , this paper will be using
the definition a person, especially of the female gender, who acquires supernatural
power, is capable of performing black magic and/or sorcery, and is causing
purported harm to human health (Iqbal, 2015). In India, terms such as daayan, tohni
and chudail are used to brand women, specifically, as witches. The term witch , a
name commonly used only for women, coupled with the fact that the vast majority of
witch killing victims are women, clearly shows the attributions as gender specific.
The branding of a person as a witch is indefinitely negative and destructive.
Research Paper On Hopf Bifurcation
Abstract. In this paper, a classical model describing a food web in a chemostat
involving three species competing for non reproducing, growth rate limiting nutrient
in which one of the competitors predates on one of the other competitors is
considered. Quantitative analyses of non negativity and boundedness of solution
trajectories, dissipativity, and behavior around equilibria, global stability and
persistence of the model equations are analyzed. We present the global stability of
equilibria by constructing a Lyapunov function. Hopf bifurcation theory is applied.

How Advertisements Are Effective Or Not Towards The
Audience
The FDA has Real Cost campaign advertisements that are used through a variety of
different media vehicles such as TV, radio, print, digital, and out of home states.
(FDA 2016) These advertisements are displayed through every media possible and
it would be hard not to encounter it in form for the few years it has been present for
the public to see. Throughout my essay, I will discuss how these advertisements are
used and whether they are effective or not towards the audience in preventing
smoking. The most effective ways these Real Cost advertisements are used is by
showing pictures in magazines or on billboards in places such as train stations of
tobaccos effects on your health. These advertisements also air different videos of
adolescents attempting to buy cigarettes and in each video, they do something out
of the ordinary such as pulling out their teeth or tearing a piece of skin off their
face. These advertisements are to inform the adolescents that smoking tobacco can
cause various health problems such as gum disease and premature aging. I have
seen this campaign used most on TV advertisements, especially when popular TV
shows air at night and I feel it s the most effective form of media used for FDA s
Real Cost advertisements. According to Belch (2012), the interaction of sight and
sound offers tremendous creative flexibility and makes possible dramatic, lifelike
representations of products and services. TV commercials can be used to convey a
mood or image for a
Tom Cant Character Analysis
Tom Canty was a poverty stricken young boy, who grew up in a somewhat immoral
family. Despite this, Tom developed himself sticking to good morals, as he
displayed throughout the story. For example, Tom displayed his perseverance in
rarely complaining throughout his rough life. Furthermore, growing up poorly, he
was often considerate of others, as he understood their troubles. Lastly, although he
lived the life of a beggar, Tom was an honest young man. Tom Canty, a young
pauper boy, despite growing up in a rather destitute neighborhood, lead a good moral
youth, and displayed the virtues of perseverance, compassion, and integrity. Since he
had been raised in a poor environment, Tom grew to be a perseverant boy who tried
his best despite difficulty. Whenever Tom came home without earning any money
from begging, he would be beaten by both his father and grandmother, and sent to
bed without dinner. Despite this, Tom did not think of his life as particularly
disagreeable, and enjoyed thinking of himself as a prince. His wonderful fantasies of
princehood comforted Tom whenever he was particularly down, and encouraged him
to be optimistic about the future. Thus, Tom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One of Tom s closest influences, his father, was a drunkard and a thief. Despite this,
Tom refused to become a thief, and despised his cruel father. Instead, he followed the
good example of Father Andrew, who taught him to read and write. Subsequently,
when mistaken for the prince, Tom denied this identity, to the point where everyone
in the castle believed he had gone insane. Eventually, after the true prince, Edward,
had made his way back to the castle, Tom wasted no time in letting everyone know
that Edward was the rightful heir to the throne. In these ways, Tom Canty displayed
his unwavering probity, in spite of his father s bad influence during Tom s
Essay On Ethnicity And Multiculturalism
The meaning of music and its value has evolved over the years of its birth. In the
present world, music is now interpreted and taken as one can imagine it. The idea and
worth of music to an individual or group can mean anything to them. There is no
consistent meaning of music because anyone can create their own meaning rather
than following another s. Ethnicity on the other hand has a solid definition. From the
Oxford Concise Dictionary of Sociology, Ethnicity defines individuals who consider
themselves, or are considered by others, to share common characteristics which
differentiate them from the other collectives in a society within which they develop
distinct cultural behavior. (Marshall, 1994) Ethnicity in a sense is the idea and... Show

I felt like there was no diversity when it came to the repertoire that the ensembles
performed. I bring this up because I grew up in an environment that is filled to the
brim with different cultures and backgrounds, but the music that the children learn
only represents one group. I feel like the town s music program could have been so
much more but it fell stuck to traditions. By doing this, children immediately become
uninterested in music and dislike taking music classes and only a handful of children
stay within the program. Their only reason to take the class is to fill the requirement
then afterwards never take a music class again. In the end, the students have more
trouble finding their own identity, ethnically and musically. They had to explore the
music for themselves and find what they like.
I believe it is important to showcase all of the distinct genres and styles of music in a
music classroom because they are all important to whoever is listening and it helps
show the students that they should be proud of what they identify themselves as. It is
disappointing to see such a great and well funded music program such as South
Brunswick Township to fall under traditions and norms, and not further explore other
music that can help students find themselves. It is vital to show children different
composers and artists that are like them and are more invested into and better
represent them
A New Client For A Cereal Making Company
A new client for a cereal making company has asked us to help promote their cereal
as healthy . This new cereal is called *name here*, and it is our job to determine the
correlation between calories and potassium in order to make the new cereal
healthier by lowering the calories but increasing potassium. We have researched
the interrelationship between calories and potassium and this paper is a product of
our analysis. We have compared data between the top fifteen cereals and have
found that calories and potassium have a negative correlation. However this is only
a coincidence as it is other factors, such as sugar, fiber, protein, and fat that correlate
most directly to calories, while certain ingredients have more potassium than others.
Calories and potassium are both essential parts of the diet that the human body
needs in order to survive. A calorie is a unit of energy that measures how much
energy the body gets just by eating or drinking it. It is generally thought that the
higher the calories, the worse it is for the body. It is thought that way because the
extra calories that the body doesn t use is converted to fat, and too much fat is linked
to health problems such as arthritis (joint degeneration), heart disease and diabetes.
Potassium is an electrolyte (meaning it conducts electricity in the body), it is essential
for the proper function of cells, tissues and organs. It is crucial for heart function and
the contraction of smooth and skeletal muscles. Too much
Island Made Thesis
How was the Island Made
By:Jonah Jacksteit
Thesis Statement This report will talk about how the marooned island got made.
An island 2000 km south of Hawai i. The island is at 1В°52 23.40 N and 157В°19
6.69 W and spans 717 square kilometers of land. On this land there were volcanoes
but after some time they got eroded away. In this report I will prove that there was a
volcano on the island and I will do so by stating how the plants, climate, location and
animals prove that there was a volcano.
Plants There are very few native plants on the island. The only plants that are on
the island are breadfruit trees, pandanus trees, pawpaw trees, coconut trees, babai(a
type of taro root), mosses and mangrove trees. There are also yams lemons, and
sugarcane as non tree plants. These seeds for plants probably got transported to the
island by birds except for the coconuts because there aren t any land borders to any
other island. Because there are no land boarders it gives us some evidence that the
island got made by a volcano.

The temperatures year round are 28C 32C with humidity. These temperatures
indicate that the island is not that far from the equator. The humidity on the island
raises the temperature by 10C and is a by product from the volcanoes. By having the
volcanoes here before, it evaporated more water, which added pressure in the air,
which then added
Athletes and Steroid Use Essay
In recent history American culture has become more and more dominated by sports.
Out of all of these sports baseball is considered to be America s pastime. Over the
last couple years America s pastime has come under scrutiny about some of its
players using anabolic steroids and other performance enhancing drugs. In an
interview with Sports Illustrated, Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig
said, ВЎВ§... hopefully we can figure out ways to solve this problem. It needs to be
solved. There is no one IВЎВ¦ve talked to who can say it is not a problem. Now the
question is, What can we do about it?ВЎВЁ (41). The commissioner is absolutely
correct in saying that the steroidsissue is a problem. Without a doubt the steroid issue

I do agree that the players who are using anabolic steroids are cheaters. It is sad that
great accomplishments and records set by honest players are being smashed by
juiced up athletes. In his Sports Illustrated column Rick Reilly states, ВЎВ§I believe
Barry Bonds should go straight to the Hall of Fame, too, even though I know that
heВЎВ¦s a cheater and that the second half of his career was as phony as Cheez
WhizВЎВЁ (118). I also sympathize with players who are playing the game
honestly only to be outdone by dishonest players. The youth of America cannot be
shown that cheating is bad, but it is also okay and you can get away with it.
If these players arenВЎВ¦t going to be totally axed from the game, record books, and
hall of fame then we should let the world and future generations know that there is an
asterisk next to these accomplishments. ВЎВ§That asterisk would say: Records are in
question because of widespread use of anabolic steroidsВЎВЁ (Verducci 38). This
way we are punishing cheaters while not totally obliterating their accomplishments.
Players who have played the game honestly will see the accomplishments of
dishonest players marred by this historical asterisk. The youth of America will learn
from this that there is no honor in cheating. Let all the people today and of future
generations know that this era of inflated numbers and hall of famers is under
scrutiny of widespread anabolic steroid use. I
The Impact Of Aetna On Health Care
Aetna:
Aetna is a leading health care benefits firm in the United States covering about 28
million individuals under its insurance plans. The company has divested into many
different sectors such as medical, pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, group life, long
term care and disability plans, and medical management capabilities. [5]
Aetna providers services under three broad sections health care, group insurance and
large case pension. The health care division includes health and dental plans which
are offered on risk and employer funded basis. Its group insurance offers life,
disability, and long term care insurance products, and its large case pension segment
manages many retirement products, including pension and annuity products designed
for defined benefit and defined contribution plans. Aetna relies on employer groups,
individuals, college students, part time and hourly workers and more. [5]

Porter s Five Forces:
Porter s Five Forces was developed in 1979 by Michael Porter as a framework to
assess and evaluate the competitive position of a company in an industry. It is based
on the theory that there are five forces which identify the attractiveness and
competitive strength of an industry. It is helpful to gain an understanding of a firm s
current positon and the position that the firm may look to capture in the future.

Persuasive Essay On Social Media
In 2003 the Sudan government enacted a genocide against Darfur people that so
far has resulted in 300,000 murders and two million displaced people. The genocide
started because of decades of neglect and oppression in the west region of darfur in

militia called Janjaweed in a movement to destroy civilians of the same ethnicity as

The Center for Disease control has estimated that illnesses directly resulting from
food contamination cause approximately 76 million illnesses, 325,000
hospitalizations, and 5,000 deaths each year in the United States. The rise of food
related illnesses can be mostly attributed to increased eating out. Half of every dollar
spent on foodin this country is spend on food prepared outside of the home. As the
amount of people involved preparing our food rises, so does the risk of contracting
an illness from food (Levitt). The people at the greatest risk are the elderly, infants,

people, who live in social environments, protected and isolated from racebased stress.
They re provided with racial comfort, yet they have a lower tolerance for racial
pressure. Jordan Peele s film, deals with the more common forms of racism, but it
focuses more on the progressive liberal whites and how they contribute to silencing
African Americans, causing them to be trapped in the sunken place. Get Out

white girl for five months. Rose takes Chris to meet her parents Missy and Dean
who seem totally normal at first. Chris starts to get creeped out by everything
happening at the Armitage house. Chris wonders if these things are actually

classified as a horror film. Missy uses hypnosis to deprive her victims of their will

same situation as Chris would do everything in their power to escape from the

Private Economic System
The economic system adopted in the United States is the private enterprise system.
This system, supports private individuals that recognize and serve the needs and
demands of consumers. The private enterprise system lessens government
interference in the economy. Consequently, businesses that satisfy and adapt to
consumers needs are the ones who profit and succeed. This competition between
businesses gets rid of businesses that are not able to produce the best product at the
best price. This type of system is also known as capitalism. In Adam Smith s The
wealth of Nations it is indicated that capitalism is threatened by privileges extended
to certain members of the economy at the expense of others. Thus, it is pertinent to
have the rights to private property, profits, freedom of choice, and competition for
capitalism to function properly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This right is essential in the trade of goods and services because it warrants
consumers the permission to purchase their demands. The right to profit is also
important in capitalism because it necessitates for people to abandon the security of
working for someone else and assume the risks of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship
is important because it brings new products and ideas to the market. Also, Freedom
of choice allows individuals to change jobs, negotiate wages, join labor unions, and
choose among many different brands of goods and services. By supplying different
choices, the private enterprise system increases citizens prosperity. Lastly,
competition occurs when two or more businesses vie for the same resources or
customers and it is the invisible hand that guides capitalism. The right to fair
competition enables rules to be laid out to prevent certain businesses from obtaining
unfair advantages. Additionally, consumers ability to choose which product is best is
Theme Of Pride And Prejudice
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single good opening line in possession
of clever phrases, can grip the readers right from the very beginning. This truth is so
well fixed in the minds of the authors that they deliberately chose it to set the tone for
the narrative to unfold and bring out the concerns of the novel. In the light of this
authorial truth this essay is focused towards discussing how the opening line of Pride
and Prejudicein itself contains the major themes and conflicts of the novel, and how
the irony of this statement works on more than one level setting it apart as one of the
most memorable lines of literature. Another point that is highlighted in this essay is
the characteristic ironical tone of the omniscient... Show more content on

This is what Robert Markley argues by writing thus: As much as modern readers
delight in the social world of Pride and Prejudice, the characters themselves view the
world through the prisms of money, inheritance law, and the values and obligations
imposed on gentlemen and gentlewomen by their estates (80). He further talks about
the estates as subordinating the ideas of individual will to a logic of obligation that
the inheritors have towards the hard work of previous generations, and writes that It
is not only that Darcy has inherited Pemberley but that Pemberley has inherited him
(85). Thus we see how unpacking the different phrases of the opening sentence itself
gives us the two of the majour themes of marriage and money in the
The Hospital Currently Utilizing Its Beds

How well is the hospital currently utilizing its beds?
The hospital utilizes its best to full capacity three days in a week, on the other hand,
the doctors operate at the hospital five days in a week, and this implies the equation
for the utilization of the beds will focus on two different perspectives.
Saturdays
Capacity Used = Sum of the daily capacity
60+90+90+90+90+60+60 = 540
Capacity Utilization for Saturday = 540/630 = 85.7%
Best operational level = capacity Maximum*7 days
90*7 = 630
Capacity used = Daily Capacity
60+90=90+90+60+30+30 = 450
Capacity utilization Rate = Capacity Used/Best Operating level
Present Utilization rate = 71% and 85.7%
Utilization = actual/design = 450 / 630 = 0.71 = 71%
Develop a similar room occupancy table to show the effects of adding operations on
Saturday. (Assume that30 operations would still be performed each day.) How would
this affect the utilization of the bed capacity? Isthere sufficient capacity for the
additional patients?
In the table below, surgery has been added on Saturday and the number of
operations performed per day is 30, this implies the number of beds added will not
be utilized, this is because the number of beds available on Saturday are still under
the operating policies.

Walter Lee Younger in Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun No matter how

Younger is a man who is frustrated with his current position in life, and every

sometimes he does not know how to show the idea of love,
Sometimes...sometimes...I don t even know how to try (Hansberry 89). His

Walter does not have control over his own responsibilities. Therefore, if he was
given all the resources needed to provide his family his poor judgement and lack of
business sense would create further stress on the family. Ruth, Mama, and his
sister Beanetha attack him from every angle about his doubtful ideals. Ironically,
those ideals are what Walter needs to shape and justify his manhood. Without
ideals and proper resources to obtain them, a man s existence can be regarded as
insignificant. There are many obstacles in the way of Walter?s dream of opening a
liquor store, as he tries to explain to his wife, Ruth, about what he has to do, ?Baby,
don?t nothing happen for you in this world ?less you pay somebody

as means to an end to his family?s hardships. As Walter s dreams become bigger
and bigger, he seems to neglect the smaller things such as his family. Here I am a
giant surrounded by ants! Ants who can t even understand what the giant is talking
about,? (Hansberry 85). Walter has big ideals, but his methods of achieving his
goals and ideals are somewhat irrational. Walter can be regarded as more concerned
with becoming self employed without really thinking about the consequences, which
may be imposed on his family. Later in play, Walter learns that he needs to set his

Criminal Copyright And Intellectual Property Laws
Criminal copyright infringement can come in many forms. Anything that has been
created by one s mind can technically be considered intellectual property. While the
initial idea itself is not something that can be protected by copyright law, patents and
actual plans from ideas can be. Many copyright cases are of a civil nature. This
occurs when a person or organization feels their intellectual property has been used
without their consent and want either compensation or for the accused party to cease
use of the material.
While civil cases aim to make the offended party whole criminal cases are intended to
penalize those who break the law. Throughout time criminal copyrightlegislation and
penalties have changed. This is partially due to the ... Show more content on

There seems to be no solid explanation of why this is. The No Electronic Theft Act,
Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and Digital Theft Deterrence and Copyright
Damages Improvement Act of 1999 are all aimed at decreasing the threshold for
what counts as criminal infringement and increasing penalties for criminal copyright
infringement (Masnick, 2012). Mike Masnick wrote his article in 2012 and the last
law listed was enacted in 2008. Since this time there have been even more shifts in
how copyrights are infringed upon.
International Copyright Law When it comes to international copyright law things can
get quite complicated. To put things in the simplest possible terms, there is no one set
of laws that govern all intellectual property disputes around the world. Different
countries have different rules on copyrights and there are also different rules and
levels of enforcement. There is however some common ground among countries in
the realm of intellectual property. This common ground comes in the form of treaties.
These treaties between territories help with both the protection of intellectual
property and enforcement against those who infringe upon copyrights. Copyright.gov,

The Giving Tree Book Report
The Giving Tree is a book written by Shel Silverstein about a relationship between
a boy and a tree. As a young boy, the tree allowed him to swing on her branches, eat
apples that she grew, and they would play hide and seek together. Every few days
the boy would come back and ask for certain things, and the treewould always try to
give him what he wanted because she loved the boy so much. Throughout the story,
as the boy gets older he spends less time with the tree but continues to request things
from her.
The theme of this story is that it is better to give than to receive. The tree gives freely
to the boy throughout the story without wanting anything in return. The boy receives
different things from the tree as he gets older. She enjoys spending time with ... Show

The tree never got upset with the boy if he asked for anything that she had. She didn t
want the boy to be sad because that would make her sad. When the tree knew that the
boy needed something, she always tried to give him the things that she had without
any argument.
At the end of the book the tree apologizes to the boy because she can t give
anything else away because she already let the boy take her apples, her branches,
and her leaves. The book proves that the tree was sad because she had nothing left for
the boy to take.
Instead of letting the boy suffer, the tree made the boy s life a little simpler by
giving things. When the boy needed a house the tree said I have no house, . The
forest is my house, but you may cut off my branches and build a house. Then you
will be happy. Since the tree couldn t give the forest to the boy, she gave him pieces
of herself so that the boy could have a house to keep him warm. The boy stayed away

A very popular Halloween costume this year is to dress like Caitlyn Jenner when
she came out on the cover of Vanity Fair. People are buying the corset that she wore
on her Vanity Fair cover when coming out along with a wig that looks like her hair.
You might think that Caitlyn would be offended by this costume, but the reality is
something totally different. Today shared that Jenner is actually totally okay with
this costume and thinks it is kind of cool that people want to dress like her. She is

Analysis Of The Film Kung Fu Panda
Brayan Hernandez SBVC F17 Soc 100 ALTERNATIVE MOVIE term paper
Sociology has caused a major impact in all types of things varying from books to
movies and much more throughout the years. The main focus on this paper will
be on the film Kung Fu Panda and how it demonstrates tons of sociological aspects
that benefit the audience in understanding society. During the film Kung Fu Panda
statuses and roles (OSW, Pg.132) were introduced and given to each individual. A
status is a type of position or place and a role is how you act or are supposed to act,
these terms are seen in all types of groups. During the beginning of the film KFP
the main character was apart of the out group not being accepted and feeling a
sense of unbelonging (OSW, Pg. 137) towards The Awesome Five warriors group
who live together with the same purpose in mind of protecting the village from all

belonging with one another (OSW, Pg. 137). Over an extensive amount of training
the TAF warriors gained a high status and an important role for the village with each
individual possessing unique talents / abilities. The group being so prestigious and
noble does not allow any new members and for this reason it s virtually impossible for
the anyone to get in. In addition to the unwillingness of acceptance of any new
member trying to enter the group they train nonstop to eliminate threats like Tai Lung

Roy Williams Cheating
Cheating, you may do it, you probably have done it somewhere in your life, but what
about the penalties you may suffer for being caught? People cheat in many things:
school, sports, and, but not limited to, relationships. But there is many ways to cheat
in those multiple examples, like in sports you can cheat with: drugs, academic
eligibility, or even through recruiting. The topic of this paper is college basketball
and cheating. What makes college basketball coachesbreak the rules, is it worth the
penalty you might ultimately face?
Roy Williams has had an unproven history of not obeying the academic rules, but
he was actually caught in 2004. One of his players, Rashad McCants, recently
came out and said Roy did cheat. Rashad McCants, a North Carolina basketball
player from 2002 2005 was one of the leading scores on the 2005 National
Champion UNC team, who said he participated in Roy Williams academic scandal.
He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then ended up being unsigned
in the league by the year 2009, admitted to taking bogus classes designed to help
athletes stay academically eligible (Delsohn). Rashad McCants is the only person
who came out against Roy Williams in the academic scandal. The classes Rashad
McCants referred to recently were exposed in his interview with Steve Delsohn, a
writer for ESPN. The class was a paper class, that did not require you to show up to
class at all, but rather to turn in a term paper at the end of the semester to receive
19th-Century Working Conditions
Workers conditions in the late 19th century were unacceptable. There is an endless
list as to why this is. Whether it is how they did not get payed much as they should
have, or whether it is how they worked in dangerous factories/businesses. Workers
were always men, while women stayed home. They would work in dangerous
factories where they had very little knowledge of what they were working with
which made it even more dangerous. They were paid little to no money while
working over 14 hours a day. Any money that they did get went towards rent, food,
water, etc. The families had poor living conditions. If they lived in the city, they
would live in small houses or tenements(apartments). The streets were crowded, there
was more than one family
Redesigning College Education
Since 1980s, the education in the United States focus on accountability, which makes
the country one of the best in education. Recent negative changes in the economies of
the world and the U.S resulted in exacerbating long standing needs for improvements
in institutional effectiveness and efficiency, and increase accountability for both.
Students and parents are seeking low cost and higher quality programs, in the time
that the government facing significant financial pressure. In 2009, public two year
colleges spent an average of $10,242 per student on educationand related
expenditures, and public master s institutions spent $12,364 ($6,441 in state and local
funding and $5,923 in tuition). In comparison, public research institutions spent...

The limited evidence available suggests that some of the most popular strategies for
improving student success are not cost effective. New strategies to cut costs and
improve college success are therefore imperative. Some believe that redesigning
courses to make use of instructional technologies will lead to better outcomes at lower
cost, although the evidence is mixed. Recently, a growing number of institutions are
going beyond redesigning courses and instead changing the way they organize
programs and supports along the student s pathway through college. These efforts are
promising, but their effects on cost per completion are not yet certain. Meager
funding has so far hampered efforts by policy makers to fund colleges based on
outcomes rather than how many students they enroll, but some states are beginning
to increase the share of appropriations tied to outcomes. The increases in tuition at
post secondary education institutions has an impacts on enrollment. We use data on
all U.S. public 4 year colleges and universities from 1991 to 2006 and illustrate that
tuition increased dramatically beginning in the early part of this decade. We examine
impacts of such increases on total enrollment and credit hours, and estimate
differences by type of institution. We estimate that the average tuition and fee
elasticity of total headcount is 0.0958. At the mean, a $100 increase in tuition and
fees would lead to a decline in enrollment of about 0.25 percent, with larger effects at
Research I universities. We find limited evidence that especially large tuition
increases elicit disproportionate enrollment
Project Management Life Cycle Models
Before I start discussing the five project management life cycle models, it is very
important to understanding below project management landscape and its four
Quadrants:
Quadrants 1: Contains Traditional Project Management (TPM), this approach has a
clear project goal and clear project solution.
Quadrants 2: Contains Agile Project Management (APM), this approach has a clear
project goal and not clear project solution.
Quadrants 3: Contains Extreme Project Management (xPM), in this approach both
project goal and project solution are not clear solution.
Quadrants 4: Contains Emertxe Project Management (PMx), this approach has not
clear project goal and clear project solution.
According to (Wysocki, 2012) there are five Project ... Show more content on

The Incremental PMLC model takes longer than linear PMLC model which increase
the cost, time, and effort required to execute the project. To mitigate this risk we
should have a powerful monitoring and control tools. Those tools should help to keep
the project on track with respect to project scope, budget, and schedule.
3)Iterative PMLC:
This model follows APM approach. According to (Wysocki, 2012) An Iterative
PMLC model consists of a number of process groups that are repeated sequentially
within an iteration with a feedback loop after each iteration is completed. At the
discretion of the client, the last process group in an iteration may release a partial
solution .
Risks, failures, and mitigation strategy:
According to (Wysocki, 2012) below are the risks and mitigation plan for this model:
The client involvement in this model is more than linear and incremental PMLC
models. If the required degree of client s involvement and ownership is not available
then the project will be on risk. To mitigate this risk we should have a clear
definition of the client s roles, responsibilities, and availabilities.
The Iterative PMLC model requires co located teams. This is very difficult
requirement because most of the projects have design offices and project consultants
all over the world and the co located teams are not possible. To mitigate this risk a
well defined communication plan must be
French Revolution Dbq Research Paper
During the late 18th century, France was divided into two different social classes of
people. One, were the first and second estate who were very wealthy and yielded
political power. They consisted of the clergy, nobles, and royalty. The rest of the
population of France, the 97%, were poor common people that had poverty and high
tax imposed on them, and they were known as the third estate. The third estate
wanted democracy, and the first and second estate wanted a monarchy, which caused
the French revolution. Napoleon Bonaparte, a returning general of Francefrom a
successful military campaign in Egypt, seized power and became first consul of

the French revolution. Also in the Napoleonic code, Napoleon betrays another
ideal that was pushed for during the French revolution. The laws are executory
throughout the whole French territory, by virtue of promulgation thereof made by
the first Consul. (Source F). Napoleon, being the first consul of France, gives
himself a significant amount of control over France by forcing any laws that he
decrees to be followed by all citizens in France. Ironically he gives rights to some,
but forces all to obey him and his laws. One of the main reasons the French
revolution commenced was because the people of France believed in a government
where all had rights and political power, rather than only the rich. The decades fought

It has been decided that relocation of the Head Office must be in the Zaanstad area
which is about 29 kilometers away from the Schiphol Airport. Since building rents
and leasing costs are lower in Zaanstad, it is much more attractive to the company.
The following requirements were outlined in the project scope.

It also involves fitting the equipment. However it must be noted that if the moving

2. Assessment of Risks
The following diagram shows a generalized risk management cycle. Risk factors that
are inherent in a relocation effort should not be underestimated because
underestimation often leads to aberrant cost escalation.
Figure 2.1: Risk Management Cycle Source: Pharmadirections.com, 2014
2.1. Identification of risks
The following risks have been identified in this project.
2.1.1. Damage Risk
Possible damage to property is the main risk factor that has to be taken into
consideration in moving the office from the current location to a new location. Air
Euro needs to focus attention on the fact that its fax machines, filing cabinets and
computers might be damaged while in transit.
2.1.2. Under or Over budgeting Risk
The risk of under or over budgeting is very common in a project of this nature and
scope. There must be as far as possible a realistic assessment of expenditure in
order to reduce the risk of under budgeting. For example though the office mover is
responsible for the delivery of the equipment at the new address, in between or after
the delivery proper, there can be other expenses involved. On the other hand over
budgeting is also a

As Armstrong (2009, p. 515) explains it, recruitment is the process of finding and
engaging the people the organization needs. Selection is that part of the recruitment
process concerned with deciding which applicants or candidates should be appointed
to jobs .
Review of Literature
With the increasingly wider reach of the internet, more and more companies are
turning to online platforms for recruitment and selection of candidates. Recent studies
tried to understand the different impacts and implications of this new approach for
companies and prospective applicants (Bauer, 2006; Parry and Wilson, 2009). A
survey research conducted by Chapman and Webster (2003) indicated that the
Internet was the preferred medium of HR professionals when recruiting candidates
for many positions across different industries.
By examining companies recruitment websites, Braddy, Meade and Kroustalis
(2006) investigated the viewer s perception and impressions on organisational culture.
Differently from other recruitment media, corporate recruitment websites present
companies the opportunity to provide comprehensive job descriptions along with
other relevant information about the business for potential candidates. It was found
that content such as corporate mission and values, corporate policies and practices,
corporate goals, employee benefits, and miscellaneous information can have a
positive or negative influence on the reader. Results
Essay on Cloudstreet Oriel and Dolly similar

The malware itself is disguised as a legitimate application that is installed on the

Essay on Love and Time in Rossetti s Poems
Love and Time in Rossetti s Poems
It is evident that themes of love and time are frequently referred to in several of
Rossetti s poems and I believe that she treats these themes in a variety of ways.
Regarding love, Rossetti explores the disappointment and betrayal caused by love,
her love of God as though part of an intimate relationship and the temptation that love
causes young women to abandon the traditional rules. Using seasonal imagery,
Rossetti relates to time contradicting herself as she often implies that we should take
time to enjoy and observe life whilst she also states that she is unable to be satisfied
with earthly life and it is death that will provide the ultimate fulfilment.
Aware of the inevitable that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A parallel to this in Song , Rossetti treats time as missed opportunities, But pluck an
ivy branch for me demonstrating that she missed out on her youth and prime time
but grew old before she had the chance to enjoy life. Using flower imagery,
Rossetti compares the different states of life, Violets are for the grave of youth , a
vibrant and exciting time and for someone to die young would be a shame. And
laurel for the perfect prime , a symbol of continuity and everlasting life; however
withered leaves I chose ,
Rossetti conveys a humble attitude as though she doesn t deserve anymore.
Contrasting her positive thoughts of living life to the full, Rossetti also releases her
inner emotions regarding her own experience of not being successful in love and
consequently was unable to enjoy life like others do. Through song , Who look upon
them hand in hand ,
Rossetti realises how nicer the world could be if she was able to share it with
someone special. Two doves upon the self same branch , using the recurring motif of
innocence and purity , Rossetti attempts to see life as others do who take time to
observe the beauty that surrounds them, and wishes that she could be as content, Oh
happy they who look on them . Aware that she looks at herself and her life in bleak
terms Rossetti affirms, Who look upon them hand in hand/ and never give a thought
to night as she constantly refers to

The Science Of Good Deed
Kindness is the act of being friendly or generous to others. We as people can choose
to hurt or help people by our actions, but most of us choose to help. When we are
kind, we don t take advantage of our power, we want to comfort, encourage and
strengthen those around us. In the article, The Science of Good Deeds the author
states that, kindness is a key ingredient that enhances positivity and helps children
feel good about themselves as it increases serotonin levels. My example explains
that to have a positive attitude about what you do helps you and others feel good
about them selfs. Robert J. Furey once said, Those who make compassion an
essential part of their lives find the joy of life. Kindness deepens the spirit and
produces rewards
Tuckmans Teams
Katzenbach and Smith (1993a) recognise teams as the basic units of performance in
organisations and identify a team as ...a small number of people with complimentary
skills who are committed to a common purpose, performance goals and approach for
which they hold themselves mutually accountable.
There are a large variety of team types and different studies distinguish them by
certain characteristics such as the team s timespan, work cycle, and the nature of
tasks among many others. For example, Torrington et al. (2002) differentiate the
teams by their timespan (temporary or permanent), range of skills, and a task. They
identify the four team types:
Production and service teams;
Cross functional management teams;
Functional teams; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Working closely together towards achieving the common goals, the team has
developed a certain degree of trust and cohesion. Although, cohesiveness can be
seen as an obstacle to progress (CIPP, Unit 1) it is still one of the key
characteristics of the team s high performance. It helps to achieve a greater focus on
the process and commitment to the decision making process. It became clearly
visible once the team faced a change. The good level of cohesion and trust let the
team members openly share their concerns, consider each other s feelings and
opinions and come to decisions of how to handle the change in the most effective
Residential Mold In Home
Mold is an essential part of nature. It helps with the decomposition of organic matter
and the recycling of nutrients in ecosystems. While outside mold is important, it is
something that homeowners don t want to find lurking inside their home.
Unfortunately, the bad news is that it doesn t take much for moldto start growing in
your home. Your home will always contain microscopic mold spores, as they are
easily transferred into your home through the air or on clothing or pets. Once mold
formation begins inside your home, it will typically spread quickly throughout an
area. There are many reasons to be concerned about residential mold growth, even
though most of the time it is not in visible areas. Not only is mold damaging to
structures in a home, but it can also trigger certain health complications or allergic
reactions.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mold thrives most in damp, dark, and enclosed environments and although it may
not be an urgent issue in the beginning stages, if mold goes undetected it can end
up reducing the air quality in a home and create an unsafe living environment.

Kennedy Middle School Garden Case Study
The Kennedy Middle School fifth grade class is growing a school garden. The
students are very excited to grow a garden, but animals have been eating the
goods, so a fence needs to be put in. The total cost to fence in the garden will be
$159. The class calculated this by finding the perimeter (in feet) and multiplying it
by the cost per foot of fence, $1.50. The Pythagorean Theorem a2 +b2=c2 helped
find the hypotenuses of the two right triangles that the garden can be broken into,
which helped the find the perimeter. The class first wrote the Pythagorean Theorem,
which is a2 +b2=c2, to find the hypotenuses of the triangles. The legs of the triangles
were represented by a and b and the hypotenuse was represented by c. After writing
the equation,

Abstract Nurse Louise Lynam, a nurse practitioner, published a scientific journal
article that informed readers on the importance of foot and ankle sprains. She gave
specific scenarios and explained the overall structure of the foot and ankle along with
the ways to distinguish if there is an injury to that area.
Assessment of Acute Foot and Ankle Sprains
Introduction
Acute foot and ankle sprains are common injuries that are frequently seen in the
medical field that have to be treated for. This can happen to people at any age, male
or female, young or old. People can get ankle sprains in any ways ... Show more

Grade I involves stretching a ligament, Grade II involves stretch or slight tear to a
ligament, and Grade III involves the ligaments to be ruptured. Such results of
Grade III can cause an individual to not be able to walk. With that being said,
prevention is an important factor especially if an individual has already had an
injury to the foot or ankle because it is more likely to happen again. As stated in the
beginning, once an individual has had a foot or an ankle injury it is 73.5 percent
chance that it can reoccur (Lynam, L.). A big help to prevent such injury is as simple
as warming up and stretching your ankle and foot before heavy activities. This will
help stretch the muscles and the tendons in the ankle. Other simple prevention
mechanism includes wearing the right shoes when out doing physical activities,
wearing an ankle brace if the ankle or foot has been injured already in the past,
paying close attention to your surroundings, and to pay attention to warning signs if
the individual is getting tired. It is important to teach the patient that once the area is
injured they need to rest, ice and elevate their foot for correct care. Once again, teach
them how to prevent it
An Excursion At The Royal Botanic Garden Essay
This excursion has been organised for students in Stage 2, grades 3 and 4. The
excursion will be taking place at The Royal Botanic Gardens with a focus on the rich
Indigenous history and culture of Australia. The main focus for this excursion brings
together outcomes and content from the Australian Curriculum and New South Wales
Syllabus. In accordance with the cross curriculum priority Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander Histories students will be provided with opportunities to deepen their
knowledge of Australia by engaging with the World s oldest continuous living
culture, their connection to Country and Place and the implications for their daily
lives. Students in stage 2 will use skills of historical and scientific inquiry to
investigate a wide variety of local native plants which were integral in the life of the
first Australians. During the lesson at the Royal Botanic Garden, Aboriginal
Education Officers will guide students through the Cadi Jam Ora: First Encounters
award winning garden display that interprets the Aboriginal cultural heritage of the
Royal Botanic Garden. The 50 meter sculptural storyline tells the Aboriginal history
of Sydney from The Dreaming to the present. This garden gives insight into the first
encounters between the early settlers and the traditional Indigenous inhabitants
(Royal Botanic Garden Sydney [RBGS], 2016). They will also provide students with
a personal perspective of how indigenous people of the Sydney area used plants for
The Effect Of Music On Music
As you re planning for the reception that will follow the most special day of your life,
you re going to need to make a choice on the music. You can either hire a band to
play live at your event, or employ a DJ to MC the festivities. Here are [] benefits
explaining why you should consider using a DJ to spin your weddingtunes.
Convenience Factor
Setting up a live band and their sound system is a complex ordeal. There is usually
some type of stage assembly, plus you re going to need to fill the time gaps when a
band needs a break. When you elect to have live music for your wedding reception,
you actually have to account for these break periods. This means you re going to
have to think about two ways to keep the music flowing.
When you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They may know how to play dozens of songs very well, but you will be restricted to
a set number of choices. Hiring a DJ essentially gives you an endless number of
songs, not to mention limitless types of music genre.
DJs, especially those who use modern digital technology, come armed with literally
thousands of song choices. There will not be a genre of music requested where they
cannot supply hundreds of artists and innumerous song titles. When you opt for a DJ
over a live band, you add artist variety and song diversity to enthuse all your guests.
Songs Sound Familiar
As hard as a live band tries, rarely are they talented enough to duplicate their
selection of music perfectly. Sometimes dancers will have a hard time telling what
song they re actually playing. DJs spin the music by the original artist, so your
reception guest will get to hear their favorite tunes rendered perfectly.
No improvisation, no sound covers, just the genuine song at the correct rhythm and
beat. You want your guests to enjoy dancing to all the songs, not just the select few
that sound good. Your DJ will not only bring and immense variety of musical
selections, they will sound just like they re intended to sound.
Resolving the music question for your wedding reception is an important part of
planning for your special day. Trying to coordinate with a live act to play the music
can be an involved and costly process. Why not just hand over this significant part of
your reception to

  • 2. Collections in a Museum Essay Imagine you were in charge of a museum s collecting policy. What would you chose to collect and how would you justify these decisions? Introduction Collections play a crucial role in fulfilling a museum s mission and purpose. A museum s collection is defined by its collection policy past and present which in turn helps to shape the museum s goals and direction. As stewards of collections, museums are expected to maintain the highest professional standards legally and ethically. The development of written policies are necessary to govern the management of collections and to establish the museum s collections related activities to support its mission and guide the priorities and decision making of its governing authority and its staff.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A mission statement helps guide priorities and decision making. Assessment must be done to determine the current strengths and weaknesses of the existing collection. Any proposed acquisitions should be able to address the limits in the existing collection or plug any gaps in the collection. The acquisition strategy should ensure that objects to be accepted or otherwise acquired for museum collection shall enhance and reflect the immediate and long term goals of the museum. The focus of acquisitions should be to address conspicuous weakness in the current collection. At the National Museum of Singapore, one of the conspicuous weaknesses includes objects which represent the minority communities in Singapore, hence the need to acquire artefacts that address this gap. The current collection is insufficient for presenting a balanced and objective narrative on the subject. The museum will strive to acquire artefacts and specimens that generally are complete and in good condition, and for which provenance is well documented regarding its history. All potential acquisitions must be thoroughly researched in regards to their provenance, including proof of ownership prior to acquisition. Acquisitions must not violate any international laws or conventions and rights of the country. The Museum should only acquire if it has the resources to provide for storage, protection and preservation of the objects under conditions that assure their
  • 3. The Director Is The Conductor And The Audience s Feelings In cinematography, as Quentin Tarantino discusses in an interview, the director is the conductor and the audience s feelings are the instrument that directors utilize to evoke emotion. Directors have many tools they use to evoke the viewer s emotions and properly captivate the audience. One of the tools directors use to control the audience, in addition to special effects, is dialogue. Dialogue has the power to push an audience to tears when a character dies, or make them laugh at the same scene with different dialogue between the characters. This dialogue is only possible through the creation of a storyworld where absurd dialogue would be deemed appropriate. This is what makes Quentin Tarantinosuch an effective director, he has mastered the skill of controlling the audience s emotions through establishing a storyworld, and using dialogue with his horrifying scenes. His mastery of evoking emotioncan be seen in many of his films. Most notably in Pulp Fiction, which won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for best screenplay. In Pulp Fiction, the viewer finds him or herself in a whirlwind of emotion, laughing in horror at horrendous acts of violence. The emotions that are elicited while watching these intense scenes are possible because of the dialogue Quentin Tarantino uses. He masters the ability to evoke emotion through outrageous scenes in combination with memorable dialogue. The social norms within a storyworld, as well as characters ridiculous interactions with each other,
  • 4. How Does Shakespeare Use Gender In Hamlet Matthias Brand Dramatic lit. Mark Mannette October 19, 2015 Gender Many theatre students will tell you about Shakespeare, who he is, what plays he has written. But what if a theatre student came up to you and the first thing he said was that Shakespeare was all about gender and sexuality. Many people in the theater community may have to agree. If you don t agree your mind may be changed by the end of this paper. In the plays The Winter s Tale and Hamlet , you will find that Shakespeare brings out the theme of gender and sexuality. In the work of Hamlet you will find that gender uncertainty was there through the use of incest. One instance of this this that Claudius and Gertrude are married. This is incest in the substantiality that they were brother in law and sister in law. Another instance of this is that many time Ophelia and Laertes call each other sexual names. Many people would find this wrong because they are brother and sister. Although the biggest sexual wrong is that of Hamlet and Gertrude. Hamlet hates one gender with ... Through the play Perdita, Leontes s daughter is sent to build the family back up and heal and mend the relationship with Polixenes. Polixenes s son Florizel falls in love with Perdita and want to be joined in the bonds of matrimony. Meanwhile Hermione spends all her time guarding herself against the biases accusations of her husband Leontes. The play shows the discrimination of female in the
  • 5. The Ontological Argument For The Existence Of God Descartes ontological argument is an echo of the original ontological argument for the existence of God as proposed by St. Anselm in the 11th century. To illustrate the background of the ontological argument, Anselm s argument works within a distinct framework of ontology that posits the existence of God as necessity by virtue of its definition. In other words, for the mind to conceive of an infinite, perfect God, ultimately implies that there must indeed be a perfect God that embodies existence, for perfection cannot merely exist as a mental phenomenon. God is, according to Anselm, self evident in the mind. Criticisms to this argument can be found in Anselm s contemporary, Gaunilo, who argues that such an argument can be used to put... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To apprehend God is akin to apprehending truths of mathematical nature; they are found within the contents of the mind and are ontologically and logically true. Further, mathematical truths have essences which necessitate their existence; for example, the fact of three angles equalling two right angles is essential to the existence of the triangle. It is what makes the existing thing what it is. As for the idea of God, Descartes writes, existence can no more be separated from the essence of God. . Because God is defined as perfect, it then follows that God must therefore exist, as existence is itself a perfection. In other words, perfection is existence, and to not exist would be less than perfect; therefore, the ontological argument argues for necessity of God s existence by virtue of his perfect essence. Strengths of the ontological argument, prima facie, are rather superficial and do not withstand objection if the argument is further probed and examined. Therefore, I do not see much strength in the argument itself, but in Descartes formulation of it. Firstly, of the few strengths that are initially brought to mind, the argument employs succinct propositions and does not rely upon evidence

This platform follows a distal to proximal trend moving from East to West. Within layer A, the facies in well A are fore reef and reef crest. Moving westwards, the abundance of the fore reef decreases as water depth decreases, allowing the reef and lagoonal facies to become more abundant. The lagoonal facies in well B will have a higher concentration of skeletal grainstones than green algae as it will be closer to the lagoon barrier than well C. Well C is dominated by lagoonal facies with a small amount of a lower intertidal zone facies, indicating a more proximal environment. Wells D, E and F are dominated by lower intertidal zones with small deviations into lagoonal and upper intertidal zone facies. The abundance of anhydrite and gypsum facies increases moving westwards as the platform becomes more proximal and may be moving into a supratidal facies. Within layer B, the platform begins with a fore reef slope and reef crest for the first 4km, followed by facies exhibiting a steady decrease in energy moving westwards (oolitic grain stones to mudstones and wackestones). These layers differ as layer A has a larger reef crest and a lagoon which extends more distally. The larger reef could lead to the larger

This paper will not only examine the contemporary challenges of witch branding /hunting in rural India that is largely grounded in gender violence and vigilantism, but it will also explain how the Indian government is or is not addressing the issue at hand. Examples of what changes can be implemented will also be listed in order to create a step by step plan for the mitigating of such violent acts as well as providing the rural Indian community with some basic essentials for maintaining a successful society. THE HISTORY OF WITCHES AND WITCH HUNTING Throughout history, both men and women alike have been branded witches and been accused of black magic and sorcery only to be hunted and killed in a most disturbing manner. Women, however, have been the most ubiquitously targeted gender in every society and era. To define the term witch , this paper will be using the definition a person, especially of the female gender, who acquires supernatural power, is capable of performing black magic and/or sorcery, and is causing purported harm to human health (Iqbal, 2015). In India, terms such as daayan, tohni and chudail are used to brand women, specifically, as witches. The term witch , a name commonly used only for women, coupled with the fact that the vast majority of witch killing victims are women, clearly shows the attributions as gender specific. The branding of a person as a witch is indefinitely negative and destructive.

Throughout my essay, I will discuss how these advertisements are used and whether they are effective or not towards the audience in preventing smoking. The most effective ways these Real Cost advertisements are used is by showing pictures in magazines or on billboards in places such as train stations of tobaccos effects on your health. These advertisements also air different videos of adolescents attempting to buy cigarettes and in each video, they do something out of the ordinary such as pulling out their teeth or tearing a piece of skin off their face. These advertisements are to inform the adolescents that smoking tobacco can cause various health problems such as gum disease and premature aging. I have seen this campaign used most on TV advertisements, especially when popular TV shows air at night and I feel it s the most effective form of media used for FDA s Real Cost advertisements. According to Belch (2012), the interaction of sight and sound offers tremendous creative flexibility and makes possible dramatic, lifelike representations of products and services. I bring this up because I grew up in an environment that is filled to the brim with different cultures and backgrounds, but the music that the children learn only represents one group. I feel like the town s music program could have been so much more but it fell stuck to traditions. By doing this, children immediately become uninterested in music and dislike taking music classes and only a handful of children stay within the program. Their only reason to take the class is to fill the requirement then afterwards never take a music class again. In the end, the students have more trouble finding their own identity, ethnically and musically. They had to explore the music for themselves and find what they like. I believe it is important to showcase all of the distinct genres and styles of music in a music classroom because they are all important to whoever is listening and it helps show the students that they should be proud of what they identify themselves as. It is disappointing to see such a great and well funded music program such as South Brunswick Township to fall under traditions and norms, and not further explore other music that can help students find themselves. This new cereal is called *name here*, and it is our job to determine the correlation between calories and potassium in order to make the new cereal healthier by lowering the calories but increasing potassium. We have researched the interrelationship between calories and potassium and this paper is a product of our analysis. We have compared data between the top fifteen cereals and have found that calories and potassium have a negative correlation. However this is only a coincidence as it is other factors, such as sugar, fiber, protein, and fat that correlate most directly to calories, while certain ingredients have more potassium than others. Calories and potassium are both essential parts of the diet that the human body needs in order to survive. A calorie is a unit of energy that measures how much energy the body gets just by eating or drinking it. It is generally thought that the higher the calories, the worse it is for the body. It is thought that way because the extra calories that the body doesn t use is converted to fat, and too much fat is linked to health problems such as arthritis (joint degeneration), heart disease and diabetes. Potassium is an electrolyte (meaning it conducts electricity in the body), it is essential for the proper function of cells, tissues and organs. It is crucial for heart function and the contraction of smooth and skeletal muscles. Too much

In this report I will prove that there was a volcano on the island and I will do so by stating how the plants, climate, location and animals prove that there was a volcano. Plants There are very few native plants on the island. The only plants that are on the island are breadfruit trees, pandanus trees, pawpaw trees, coconut trees, babai(a type of taro root), mosses and mangrove trees. There are also yams lemons, and sugarcane as non tree plants. As time goes by, however, the debts of the club was getting higher plus there were various company that wanted to sponsor the football club (Dudley, 20114). According to Stephen King, we crave horror films to show we are not afraid, to re establish our sense of normality, and to give an outlet to our anti civilization emotions. (Why We Crave Horror Films) Jordan Peele s film challenges white people, who live in social environments, protected and isolated from racebased stress. They re provided with racial comfort, yet they have a lower tolerance for racial pressure. Jordan Peele s film, deals with the more common forms of racism, but it focuses more on the progressive liberal whites and how they contribute to silencing African Americans, causing them to be trapped in the sunken place. Get Out follows the story of Chris, a young black man who has been dating Rose, a young white girl for five months. Rose takes Chris to meet her parents Missy and Dean who seem totally normal at first. Chris starts to get creeped out by everything happening at the Armitage house. Chris wonders if these things are actually happening or he is just being paranoid. According to critiques the film Get Out is classified as a horror film. Missy uses hypnosis to deprive her victims of their will causing zombie ism in the film. In Get Out, the protagonist Chris, a young black man, is a New York City photographer. I feel that anyone who finds themselves in the same situation as Chris would do everything in their power to escape from the evildoers. In the film,

This system, supports private individuals that recognize and serve the needs and demands of consumers. The private enterprise system lessens government interference in the economy. Consequently, businesses that satisfy and adapt to consumers needs are the ones who profit and succeed. This competition between businesses gets rid of businesses that are not able to produce the best product at the best price. This type of system is also known as capitalism. In Adam Smith s The wealth of Nations it is indicated that capitalism is threatened by privileges extended to certain members of the economy at the expense of others. This truth is so well fixed in the minds of the authors that they deliberately chose it to set the tone for the narrative to unfold and bring out the concerns of the novel. In the light of this authorial truth this essay is focused towards discussing how the opening line of Pride and Prejudicein itself contains the major themes and conflicts of the novel, and how the irony of this statement works on more than one level setting it apart as one of the most memorable lines of literature. New strategies to cut costs and improve college success are therefore imperative. Some believe that redesigning courses to make use of instructional technologies will lead to better outcomes at lower cost, although the evidence is mixed. Recently, a growing number of institutions are going beyond redesigning courses and instead changing the way they organize programs and supports along the student s pathway through college. These efforts are promising, but their effects on cost per completion are not yet certain. Meager funding has so far hampered efforts by policy makers to fund colleges based on outcomes rather than how many students they enroll, but some states are beginning to increase the share of appropriations tied to outcomes. The increases in tuition at post secondary education institutions has an impacts on enrollment. We use data on all U.S. public 4 year colleges and universities from 1991 to 2006 and illustrate that tuition increased dramatically beginning in the early part of this decade. We examine impacts of such increases on total enrollment and credit hours, and estimate differences by type of institution. We estimate that the average tuition and fee elasticity of total headcount is 0.0958. At the mean, a $100 increase in tuition and fees would lead to a decline in enrollment of about 0.25 percent, with larger effects at Research I universities. We find limited evidence that especially large tuition increases elicit disproportionate enrollment

Virtual pickpocketing is a fairly new concept that explores the idea of an embedded piece of malware that constantly looks for NFC signals such as a contactless debit card. The malware itself is disguised as a legitimate application that is installed on the user?s phone, once the phone comes into contact with the contactless card, the cards details are scanned and the information is relayed to a command and control server. Once the information is stored on the command and control server the attacker can now use an application to retrieve the card details and use a mobile device as if it were a contactless card to make payment for goods and services. This project has found multiple vulnerabilities in contactless payment cards; the reasons for which are discussed. Essay on Love and Time in Rossetti s Poems Love and Time in Rossetti s Poems It is evident that themes of love and time are frequently referred to in several of Rossetti s poems and I believe that she treats these themes in a variety of ways. Regarding love, Rossetti explores the disappointment and betrayal caused by love, her love of God as though part of an intimate relationship and the temptation that love causes young women to abandon the traditional rules. Using seasonal imagery, Rossetti relates to time contradicting herself as she often implies that we should take time to enjoy and observe life whilst she also states that she is unable to be satisfied with earthly life and it is death that will provide the ultimate fulfilment. Aware of the inevitable that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A parallel to this in Song , Rossetti treats time as missed opportunities, But pluck an ivy branch for me demonstrating that she missed out on her youth and prime time but grew old before she had the chance to enjoy life. Using flower imagery, Rossetti compares the different states of life, Violets are for the grave of youth , a vibrant and exciting time and for someone to die young would be a shame. And laurel for the perfect prime , a symbol of continuity and everlasting life; however withered leaves I chose , Rossetti conveys a humble attitude as though she doesn t deserve anymore. Contrasting her positive thoughts of living life to the full, Rossetti also releases her inner emotions regarding her own experience of not being successful in love and consequently was unable to enjoy life like others do. Through song , Who look upon them hand in hand , Rossetti realises how nicer the world could be if she was able to share it with someone special. Two doves upon the self same branch , using the recurring motif of innocence and purity , Rossetti attempts to see life as others do who take time to observe the beauty that surrounds them, and wishes that she could be as content, Oh happy they who look on them . Aware that she looks at herself and her life in bleak terms Rossetti affirms, Who look upon them hand in hand/ and never give a thought to night as she constantly refers to

It helps to achieve a greater focus on the process and commitment to the decision making process. It became clearly visible once the team faced a change. The students are very excited to grow a garden, but animals have been eating the goods, so a fence needs to be put in. The total cost to fence in the garden will be $159. The class calculated this by finding the perimeter (in feet) and multiplying it by the cost per foot of fence, $1.50. The Pythagorean Theorem a2 +b2=c2 helped find the hypotenuses of the two right triangles that the garden can be broken into, which helped the find the perimeter. The class first wrote the Pythagorean Theorem, which is a2 +b2=c2, to find the hypotenuses of the triangles. The legs of the triangles were represented by a and b and the hypotenuse was represented by c. After writing the equation,

Grade I involves stretching a ligament, Grade II involves stretch or slight tear to a ligament, and Grade III involves the ligaments to be ruptured. Such results of Grade III can cause an individual to not be able to walk. With that being said, prevention is an important factor especially if an individual has already had an injury to the foot or ankle because it is more likely to happen again. As stated in the beginning, once an individual has had a foot or an ankle injury it is 73.5 percent chance that it can reoccur (Lynam, L.). A big help to prevent such injury is as simple as warming up and stretching your ankle and foot before heavy activities. This will help stretch the muscles and the tendons in the ankle. Other simple prevention mechanism includes wearing the right shoes when out doing physical activities, wearing an ankle brace if the ankle or foot has been injured already in the past, paying close attention to your surroundings, and to pay attention to warning signs if the individual is getting tired. It is important to teach the patient that once the area is injured they need to rest, ice and elevate their foot for correct care. Once again, teach them how to prevent it

There will not be a genre of music requested where they cannot supply hundreds of artists and innumerous song titles.
