The Characteristics Of Insects
Insects can be found all around the world. There are many insects of numerous types. Insects can
affect other organisms in different ways. Some types of insects can be beneficial to the life of
different organisms. Other types of insects can be harmful to organisms. There are many
characteristics of insectsthat include the attraction to other organisms such as humans, plants, and
animals. The attraction to other organisms has made humans want to find ways to repel insects.
The repelling of insects can make other organisms unaffected by these creatures. This means the
organisms will not receive any types of benefits or harm.
There are many different characteristics of the body of insects. Insects have the skills and ability to
make observations and communicate the things that are observed. These organisms usually have
six legs. Some insects use these legs for jumping. Other insects use these legs for walking. Many
insects use the legs for both jumping and running. Most insects have antennas. The antennas are
usually positioned on the head of the insect. Around the body of the insect, there is an exoskeleton.
An exoskeleton is a hard shell that shelters the body. Insects usually have wings. The wings are
used to give the insects the ability to fly. The wings are also used to camouflage insects from
predators and protect the body. These are just a small number of details about the body.
Insects can be attracted to many different things. Many of these attractions are to

Qualities of Heros in In the Time of the Butterflies by...
How would you determine if some one was a hero or not? What characteristics would they
obtain? Do you think you have hero like qualities? The Maribal sisters are three young girls who
start an underground revolution against their very own dictator. This revolution is still remembered
today. They realized the man Trujillo was not who he said he was or who he wanted to be viewed
as. The group in the underground revolution were known as The butterflies. One
Maribal sister, named Minerva was who I believe to be the true hero in the history of this event.
She was responsible, stood up to Trujillo, and followed her dreams to go to college and obtain a
law degree.

66 here Minerva questions Trujillo to his face while all other girls just agree with him and
whatever he may have to say. Yet again showing her string personality. He yanks me by my wrist,
thrusting his pelvis at me in a vulgar way, and I can see my hand in an endless slow motion rise
all mind of its own and come down on the astonished, made up face P. 67 in this situation,
Trujillo invades Minerva s personal space and she slaps him because she knows who he truly is.
Minerva stands up to him and does not let Trujillo treat her like the rest of the girls.
Minerva is in no way a push over. This is hero like quality to have, she stands up for what she
believes is right and will also go to the next level to do the things she wants to do. Minerva made it
possible for herself to go to college and get a law degree. I want to go the university......I ve always
wanted to study law. P.65 Minerva tells Trujillo about her wanting to study law, a trait that not
many people think of women to do in these days. I m not interested in admirers until I have my
law degree. P.66 Minerva explains to Trujillo that her law degree is more important to her than
other things. She shows that she doesn t need or want a thing to do with him or anything that
comes between her law degree. Minerva insists, though, that I give law a chance. P. 87 Minerva is
perusing her dream of getting a law degree and explains to her sister that it would be good to

History Of Teeth Summary
1. In the articles Where Are All The Dentist ? and History Of Teeth by Kristin Lewis proves that
there were many problems with dentist over a long period of time. The first quote proves that
having bad dental care caused deaths. Dejed died of a bad tooth (Lewis 13). This proves that
having bad teethin history caused many deaths to people. Bad teeth caused deaths because
dentists back in time did not have the right tools to fix a tooth problem so the dentist could not fix
the problem. So they patient had to live with the bad tooth witch later then caused deaths. Another
quote from Lewis also proves that money was a big issue witch caused bad dental care. Many

Moodity Definition Essay
Literary texts can be divided into commodities and non commodities based on whether or not their
messages are benefitting the author directly. If a work is created to sell an ideal that may not
benefit the author immediately, it often has a larger impact on society, and it becomes a
commodity. However, if the work brings in any monetary value or help to its author, it is no longer
a commoditybecause it profited its creator. Because this can vary due to the use of the text by
others, literature can become a commodity to different degrees thanks to the interpretation of the
work by their audience. The term commodity itself, as coined by Marx, has a very broad definition.
The commodity is, first of all, an external object, a thing which... Show more content on

John Lennon, through his music, spread his view of the importance of world peace. He was
able to gain many followers to his movement and impact the world of music and politics through
his music. John Lennon himself was wealthy and did not need to spend his time and energy on
trying to better life for the less fortunate. Because he was actually able to send out his message
and effectively create rallies and movements in response to his views, his listeners made his
music a commodity. However, though his music was able to do a lot of good, it also was the
reason he was incredibly wealthy. Through his social status because of his wealth, he was able to
spread his message. His listeners, in order to hear his message, would buy his music and feed
into his fame and fortune. This defies the definition of commodity because his literature, or his
music, was also very beneficial to himself. Though his listeners used it to create political
awareness of the need for peace, he also used it to keep his name famous and to keep his income
steady. This complicates his music as defined as a commodity, and shows that an audience can give
something use value and make it a commodity at the same

homeless, he believes the act should be referred to as scavenging. When first beginning to
dumpster dive, he felt scavenging was not very challenging, rather he felt that he could find what
he needed with simply looking. All it would take is a fraction of athleticism just to lower their body
into the dumpster, but also knowing how to distinguish if the food they were about to consume
was decent or better just to leave it where it was found. Not thinking highly and becoming
frustrated with those who would ask if the food found in the dumpsters were acceptable for
eating. I am fond of his offerings of ways to succeed. One example offered to visit a pizza

Examples Of European Imperialism
Gandhi once said, Violent nationalism, otherwise known as imperialism, is a curse. What is
imperialism? It is defined as a policy of extending a country s power and influence through
diplomacy or military force. An example of this is European Imperialism, which lasted from 1870
to 1915. European powers imperialized smaller countries/nations like Africato gain resources, power
and most importantly, to spread their ideas. Through European Imperialism, imperialization was
mainly justified and caused by social relations that still manage to influence the world today by
disrupting traditions and social structures. These social beliefs highly impacted European
imperialism to give warrant on their actions.
European Imperialism was justified due to Europe s belief that they were the superior rac and had
the right to rule over inferior races. In Jules Ferry s speech on imperialism he says, I repeat ... Show

to spread their power and views of France socially, economically and politically. To add on, Sub
Saharan Africa, by 1900, was beginning to experience the more systematic loss of traditional
values, particularly in some areas where Christian missionaries he made advances. Imperialized
countries lost their beliefs and tradition due to Europe s views spreading, causing Europe to keep
spreading power by becoming imperialists. Hence, this allowed imperialism to be a good concept

Tiara Boone Eng 105 03 Amber O Sullivan 10/31/17 Pro life I am pro life. All the procedures
doctors use to perform abortions seem harmful and uncomfortable to both the mother and baby.
One method used is Dilation and Evacuation. Basically the mother is given drugs to force a
speedy dilation of her uterus, then the doctor takes forceps and inserts them into the woman s
womb and begins dismembering the baby by breaking the baby s bones, skull, and spine and then
removes the now dead baby (Lloyd 1). That just sounds inhumane for someone to be okay with.

plaintiff for damages, since she did not want to have the baby. (Robertson 217). So even if you
want an abortion it is not guaranteed you will have a successful one. I have seen testimonies on
tv about children who were attempted to be aborted and now they have disabilities that they
probably would not have had before. My suggestion is. If you do not want kids have a
hysterectomy. Recently I found out there is sex selective abortion which means if a couple is
unhappy with the sex of their baby then they can terminate the pregnancy. This article I read
states If we are committed to a Pro choice stance with regard to selective abortion for disability,
we will be unable to justify the prohibition of sex selective abortion (Williams 1). What this quote
is saying is that if people are going to be on the pro choice stance, then they have to be all in. They

Similarities Between Northern And Northern Renaissance
Renaissance is a great monument of the history of mankind, it represents the awakening of the
Western in terms of ideology, and began to focus on the demands mental and the pursuit of real
needs. All factions in the Renaissance, the development of the Italian Renaissance and Northern
Renaissance are the most spectacular. Both of these two factions has its own distinctive features.
Historically, Florence, Italy, is considered the birthplace of the Europe Renaissance, which had
influence on the artistic style of art development in other regions. Northern Renaissance even
though studied under Italian Renaissance, but its ideology and artistic style are not the same with
Italian Renaissance.

She continues to do things that only lawyers are permitted do, such as give advice to clients.
However, Erin does so in a way to earn their trust and becomes friends with many of the residents.
This proves to be a pivotal point in keeping up the morale of the people when they begin to feel
like the lawyers are failing them. In their first meeting, Donna told Erin that PG amp;E had paid
for doctors visits for the whole family. However, PG amp;E was not doing this just to be nice, as
they would have the residents believe, they had an ulterior motive. They sent them to specific
doctors because these doctors would lie to them to cover up for PG amp;E. It was clear that PG
amp;E must have paid these doctors to tell the residents that the water was safe and that their
health problems were not associated to the chromium. The fact that a doctor would lie to a patient
is just as, if not more unethical than what PG amp;E did by lying to the citizens. Although this
issue was not dealt with in the movie, those doctors should have lost their right to practice. The
company should have offered the residents of Hinkley the right to see another doctor of their
choice, at PG amp;E s expense. Upon realizing she needed to get information about the water in
Hinkley, specifically the type of chromium, she went to the water board. She was told not to let

dad needed to get back at. So as Danny sprinted up the hill to the deck where the flag was, my dad
chased after him. When Danny got into range my dad lit the firework taped onto his hand and
let it go. The firework flew out of his hand like a bullet out of a gun. My dad got what he wanted

A Parliamentary Government Is A Form Of Government
A parliamentary government is a form of government that consists of two different systems. The
legislative system and the executive. The supremacy of the legislative government has been
replaced with a cabinet and has since been called a cabinet government. A parliamentary system
has a head of state, also known as the president in some countries. According to Shively, 2014, the
president or head of state is merely symbolic and only carries out ceremonial functions and has no
governmental control.
Description of India s Parliament
Indian Parliament is the highest legislative body of India. The parliament is comprised of the
President and two houses. The first house, is the Rajya Sabha the Council of States. It is also

house. The Rajya Sabha is a permanent house and cannot be dissolved. There is a maximum of
two hundred and fifty seats in the Council of State. There are two hundred and thirty eight
members, all of which are elected members and representatives of each state and two union
territories. The other twelve are members who have been nominated by the president. Each council
member serves a maximum of six years (Shubhangi, 2017). According to Shively, 2014, the

Golden Age Of Athens
Athens had what is known as its Golden Age between 480 and 430 BCE, and while it was a
relatively short period of time, it laid the foundations of western civilization.
As the Golden Age dawned, the autonomous poleis (city states) that had formed in the preceding
two to three centuries had set aside their differences and united to face the threat of invasion posed
by the Persian Empire. Though vastly outnumbered, the Greeks had finally defeated the Persian
armies in 480 BCE. In the years of peace that followed, the Greeks made significant advances in art,
literature, science and philosophy, as pride and patriotism drove them to greater heights of
creativity and in Athens, an experiment with a new kind of government flourished under the
statesman Pericles.
Prior to about 600 BCE, Athens had been an oligarchy, with an aristocratic minority controlling its
government. But enlightened Athenian leaders began instituting reforms to the city s government
between 600 and 500 BCE. Solon (c. 638 558 BCE) introduced a new code of laws that was less
harsh than Athens existing legal code (laid out by an Athenian statesman called Draco, hence the
term draconian to describe repressive laws) , and also set up a Popular Assembly of Citizens,
although a council of aristocrats still made the laws.
Cleisthenes (c. 570 508 BCE) known as the Father of Democracy expanded democracy still
further, creating a Council of 500, which consisted of 50 representatives from each Greek tribe. He

Robert Walton And Robert Walton In Frankenstein By Mary...
In Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, Robert Walton is comparable to Frankenstein s monster. Neither
are able to find any sense of belonging, and have a craving for the companionship of someone
similar to themselves.
Robert Walton plays an often overlooked role in this story, although he can be considered the
primary narrator. Walton is the captain of a failing expedition to the North Pole who discovers a
freezing and lost Victor Frankenstein. Walton nurses Frankenstein back to health, and Frankenstein
tells Walton of his misfortune of a life story. The similarities between Frankenstein and Walton are
made fairly obvious, as Frankenstein himself points out their somewhat similar pursuits of
knowledge and failure to realize their own limits, as well as warns Walton about the consequences
of taking an obsession too far, implying that Frankenstein sees a little of himself in the captain.
However, I think that there is an even more interesting observation to be made of Walton, by
comparing him to the monster. Both Walter and the monster experience a considerable amount of
loneliness, with a contrasting cause and a comparable effect. Both of them are also fairly
intelligent, with little education, creating another parallel between the two.
Walton s search for a like minded individual is seemingly endless. Walton is unable to find people
with thoughts and tastes similar to his own. This is made clear in Walton s letters to his sister. The
source of the monster s loneliness is a

The Human Skin
Your skin is the body s п¬Ѓrst defense mechanism. A barrier against pathogens and water loss, the
human epidermis undergoes a constant renewal process called cornification, as old dead skin
cells, corneocytes, are shed and replaced by cells from the layers below to maintain constant
protection. A defect in the skinbarrier could develop various skin conditions, including atopic
dermatitis. The most common form of eczema, atopic dermatitis is a chronic skin condition
characterized by inflammation and itchy, dry patches of skin. Although no cause has been
determined, researchers focus on studying genetic abnormalities and influences on a defective
epidermal barrier (Sajic, Asiniwasis, Skotnicki Grant, 2012). Mutations in the п¬Ѓlaggrin gene,
with environmental factors that further damage the skin s protective barrier, are one of many
aspects contributing to the cracked skin and inflammation of atopic dermatitis.
Filaggrin is an important protein in cornification that contributes to the strength and moisture of
the stratum corneum, or topmost layer of the skin, through formation of the cornified envelope
and maintenance of the natural moisturizing factor. The precursor to filaggrin is profilaggrin,
a protein in keratohyalin F granules at the granular epidermal layer. As the granular cells transition
to the stratum corneum during cornification, serine activated proteases proteotypically cleave
profilaggrin into filaggrin peptides (McLean Irvine, 2012). The filaggrin then binds to and

was in this position that Snowden began to notice some classified documents that didn t make
sense. These documents contained information on the National SecurityAgency illegally spying on
their own citizens. It was at this time in 2012 that Snowden began downloading some of these files
for himself. It is estimated that he downloaded somewhere between 50,000 and 200,000 files on the

to get the files out to the people. He attempted to contact a few media outlets around the world who

gather round the success seekers, to develop, to grow, to mature, to live his works and to create, as
Schubert created his songs, Bruckner his symphonies and Masses, and Wagner his music dramas
(Grange). However, Leonard Bernstein sometimes felt (according to PBS American Masters video
on Bernstein) like he had become Mahler in his performances. Gustav Mahlerhas become an iconic
figure in the eyes of other conductors/composers, because it helped them become masters of their
own works with the influential ideas of Mahler.
Born on July 7, 1860, in Kalischt, Bohemia, Gustav Mahler was a late Romantic composer and
one of the leading conductors of his generation. As a composer, Mahler acted as a bridge
between the 19th century Austro German tradition and the modernism of the early 20th century.
While in his lifetime his status as a conductor was established beyond question, his own music
gained wide popularity only after periods of relative neglect which included a ban on its
performance in much of Europe during the Nazi era. However, Mahler also was a Jew, and Jews
in the region were associated by ethnic Czechs with Germans. Mahler s famous quote is: I am

Nt1310 Experiment 1
Gestalt theorists used 3 dimensional virtual reality technology to simulate scenes to be able to
examine familiarity and dГ©jГ vu. In one experiment they used twenty four participants from
Colorado State University. The participants were given two test blocks. Each test block
contained a 16 scene study list. Afterwards they were given a 32 scene test list. These were not
seen together. They fixed it so that half were similar to the studied scene and the other half weren

Abstract: The choice between fair value and historical cost accounting is the subject of longstanding
controversy among accounting academics and regulators. Nevertheless, the market based evidence
on this subject is very limited. We study the choice of fair value versus historical cost accounting
for non financial assets in a setting where market forces rather than regulators determine the
outcome. In general, we find a very limited use of fair value accounting. However, the observed
variation is consistent with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

We study valuation practices for arguably the most controversial (non financial) asset groups:
property, plant and equipment (PPE), investment property, and intangibles. Out of the twenty nine
European countries that mandated IFRS from 2005, we select the United Kingdom
(UK) and Germany because they have the largest financial markets in Europe and are historically at
opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of using fair value accounting under the local GAAP.
Specifically, for non financial assets, German GAAP allows only historical cost accounting,
whereas UK GAAP either allows (for PPE) or mandates (for investment property) fair value
accounting. As a result, IFRS expands the available valuation practices in both the UK and
Germany. Indeed, under IFRS, both fair value and historical cost are allowed for PPE and
investment property; and, if an active

The Death And Life Of Great American Cities
Ten million dollars is a lot of money. When this money has been generated over years of increased
taxes, and is to be put back into a community, it s important to know that this money is being used
wisely. Ten million dollars is the amount of money that the Budlong Woods community is using in
their Tax Increment Financing Redevelopment Area Project. This paper will investigate the current
state of the Budlong Woods community, as well as the specific focus areas of the redevelopment
project and determine whether Budlong Woods is on track to be Chicagos next successful
neighborhood.
Through Jane Jacobs book, The Death and Life of Great American Cities, she details precise
features that make a city successful. Among these, safe sidewalks, lively parks, and diversity of
uses and users are the most important, and will be the focus of study. This paper will compare and
contrast the changes taking place in the Budlong Woods community with those that are successful
or unsuccessful in other city neighborhoods. Through these comparisons it will be determined
whether the money invested in Budlong Woods will drive the community into prosperity, or like
many other city rehabilitation projects, simply be a waste of money that strips the area of its
diversity and unique characteristics.

Fair Trade Ethnoscapes
Fair Trade has been a buzz word in the world lately with the movement towards human rights. It s
important to note that technoscapes and ethnoscapes have played big factors in this movement and
spread of ethical goods. Global consumption of coffee in the past two years has been lead in this
order from Europe, Asia and Oceania, North America, South America, Africa, and Central America
and Mexico ( TradeStatistics Table , 2017). A big reason why fair tradehas spread globally is
because of ethnoscapes, the movement of culture and people across borders. When people travel to
different areas in the coffee belt, they used to see the abuse of human labor, poor working
conditions, child workers, and that these farmers were not able to make much money... Show more

Physics Archimedes Principle Lab Report
Measurement of Mass, Volume, and Density through
Archimedes Principle
Overview:
The purpose of this experiment was to measure the density of a solid and a liquid using
Archimedes principle. Archimedes is one of the greatest inventors and mathematicians of all time.
The principle we used in this experiment was discovered when Archimedes stepped into a full bath
tub. Using Archimedes principle, we were able to determine the density of a lead rod, water, and an
unknown liquid.
Physical Data: Name| MW (g/mol)| ПЃ (g/cm3)| bp (ЛљC)| mp (ЛљC)| water| 18.01 g/mol| 1 g

The spring constant that was found from the previous lab was 0.023 N/m. In part B of the
experiment, we were able to determine the change in mass of the lead rod from the air to the water
and the volume of the lead rod. After conducting five trials, we were able to find the change in
mass of the lead rod by using the spring constant formula of F=kx. After modifying the formula
to solve for mass, we were able to find the change in mass for each trial by multiplying the spring
constant and displacement of the lead rod in air versus water, then dividing by gravity. The
average change in mass was found to be 9.38X10 4g. Once we had found the mass of the lead rod,
we were able to find calculate the volume of the lead rod by modifying the buoyancy force
formula to solve for the volume of the object. Find that formula, we divided the mass of the lead
rod by the density of water as shown in the table of literature. The average volume of the lead rod
was found to be 3.422 cm3. In part C of this experiment, we were able to determine the change in
mass of the lead rod from air to an unknown liquid and the density of the unknown liquid. We
used the same method in part B to calculate the change in mass of the lead rod. The average

Raadium Poisoning In Catherine Donahue s These Shinning Lives
Throughout watching the play These Shinning Lives I gathered information about the radium
poisoning happening in the 1920s. When Catherine Donahue says her first line that this play is
neither a comedy or a tragedy; I was somewhat taken back by this because the play describes four
women who get extremely sick from radiumpoisoning. Each of the girls experience different side
effects from the radium, but the play further explains Catherine s side effect which was ultimately
death. Therefore, I believe this play is a tragedy. In the beginning of the play it starts out with four
healthy women working at a radial dial company making watches with radium. They were paid the
modern equivalent of $0.27 per watch dial, so the harder they worked, unknowingly swallowing
deadly amounts of poison each time to make a few extra pennies, the faster death would approach
(MessyNessy, The Radium Girlsand the Generation That Brushed Its Teeth with Radioactive
Toothpaste). As the play progresses it shows the deterioration of each of the girls. One girls jaw
is hurting her another its her arm and then the last his her leg and then her whole body. Between
1917 and 1926, the U.S. Radium Corporation hired around 70 women from New Jersey and by
1927, more than 50 of those women had died as a direct result of radium paint poisoning that was
eating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It talks about them being taken advantage of and being exposed to harmful things such as
radium. The radium ultimately leads to the premature death of these women who worked in the
radial dial company. I say this is a tragedy because these women were mothers, friends, wives,
and most importantly they were all people. They all had the right to live the life they wanted and
to be treated fairly. They did not deserve to be lied to about how harmful radium was for them.
Their lives were cut short due to the inservice these companies did to them. This play is a tragedy

The Dangers Of Cockfighting In Bali
When one thinks of Bali, one will most possibly envision the white sand beaches, clear blue
skies, calming water and the huge number of Western tourists there. Chances that one will jump
into the idea of cockfighting in Bali villages would probably be very low. Cockfighting plays a
pivotal role in the life of numerous Balinese men. As Geertz (2005), an American anthropologist
suggested, cockfighting is considered as a part of The Balinese Way of Life . A cockfight
, in a
straightforward explanation, means a fight between two roosters in a caged ring until one of them
dies for the amusement of spectators (PETA, n.d.). However, to Balinese men, it means so much
more than this it is an obsession that has been passed down through generations.
Every year in Bali, there will be legal large scale cockfights in almost every village of Bali. This
precedes the renowned public holiday in Bali called Nyepi, where people in Bali are not
allowed to go out of their houses and even have to turn off the lights when they are indoors. This
is done in order to avoid contacts with influx of demons that are chased out of hell for an instant
moment (Geertz, 2005). Before a cockfight, a tadji a razor sharp dagger about four to five inches
long would be attached to each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to certain kind of power animalistic demons. It is seen as a part of Balinese Hindu ritual with blood
considered as sacrifice offerings to assuage the demons hunger. After harvesting crops, one would
usually need to sacrifice the roosters before digging the soil, as it is regarded as Bali villages adat

Gender Impact On Class And Gender
Effect of Class and Gender Do class and gender affect how individuals act or behave? Society
has evolved throughout the years and with that evolution, the people have separated themselves
by factors such as class and gender. This separation started many centuries ago and made a large
appearance in the Great Depression and Civil Rights Movement. Along with this division of
people, actions and behaviors seem to have been paired with certain classifications of people. In
prior eras, women were seen as fragile and not earners due to needing to stay at home and take
care of children. On the contrary, men were seen as masculine and earned a decent amount of
money from working all day long. Even though genders evolved into how they are now with
women working alongside men, the separation is still visible. Women are still fighting to get paid
the same amount as men, resulting in a certain behavior based on the gender. This behavior is one
where women try to get equal pay through comparable worth instead of just staying quiet like
women used to. The factors of class and gender cause a difference in an individual s actions and
behavior in the ways of not socializing with certain types of people, creating stereotypes, and
behaving in a way to fit the norms of the specific class or gender. There are many different
articles written that can help describe how socialization, generalized ideas, and standards cause
individuals in different genders and classes to act in a certain way. A few of the most important
are Post Princess Models of Gender: The New Man in Disney/Pixar by Gillam and Wooden,
Seeing and Making Culture: Representing the Poor by hooks, and Girls Bodies, Girls Selves:
Body Image, Identity, and Sexuality by Lipkin. All of these articles have aspects that point
towards the fact that different reason cause individuals to perform their everyday activities in a
certain way. Gillam and Wooden explain in their article that new films produced by Disney and
Pixar have changed the idea of masculinity from one of the past to one that accepts the more
traditional femininity. Hooks article portrays how she personally was told she was unable to go to
college because of her poverty level and when she did go to

Ticking Tension and Silent Screams: Examining Sound in We Need To Talk About Kevin In
director Lynne Ramsay s We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011), dialogue serves as just one of
many modes of sound used to guide the narrative. Through a series of flashbacks and flash
forwards, orchestrated by diegetic and non diegetic sounds, the film follows Eva Khatchadourian
(Tilda Swinton), mother of baby Kevin (Ricky Duer) and, later, teenage Kevin (Ezra Miller), as
she recalls the influential events leading up to and the aftermath of Kevin murdering his peers and
family with his bow and arrow. While this gruesome film actually displays little violence on the
screen, the properties of sound create the horror and trepidation experienced by the audience.
Perceptual properties of sound, including loudness and timbre, internal diegetic sounds, Eva s
thoughts and sonic flashbacks, and the use of silence when viewing interactions between Eva and
Kevin, shape the audience s understanding of the film. The film employs on screen and off screen
diegetic sounds such as screaming, crying, and ticking and highlights objects/sounds which act as
motifs. Additionally, non diegetic sound created through the soundtrack lends a sense of irony to
different scenarios. While visuals and audio work together to create the film, sounds in particular
shape the spectator s perspective while allowing opportunities for further interpretation. In the

scientific discoverer of gravity. My childhood was anything but stable. Three months after my father
died in 1642, I was born a small, premature infant on January 4th, 1643 in Lincolnshire. My mother
remarried when I was 3 and left me with my grandmother. I hated my stepfather, and despised my
mother for marrying him, even threatening to burn their house down. In school, I found my solace
in books, particularly in science and mechanics. In my first year of college at Cambridge
University, my mother returned and tried to make me a farmer, but farming was boring and
derivative, so my uncle brought me back to school and I studied color, light, alchemy, history, and
religion, particularly the Bible. After the plague, I was forced to return home, where I ... Show more

After 2 years at work in 1687, I published my most cherished work, The Principia, where the laws
of gravity were explained in 3 basic laws. They explained how gravity makes the moon orbit
Earth and how Earth orbits the Sun. It also explained elliptical orbits and the flattening of the
poles and bulge at the equator. It completely changed scientists and people s views of the
universe. Robert accused me of plagiarism, but his claims were invalid. I suffered a mental
breakdown later that year for many reasons and became a recluse. After that I joined Parliament
and saved England s money crisis. It was around that time I suffered another mental breakdown
but recovered quickly. I lived with my niece for my final years. It was around that time where I
told the story of the falling apple that made me think about gravitational forces at my farm back
home. In 1727, I suffered intense pain in my head and abdomen and lost consciousness. I never
regained consciousness, and was pronounced dead the next

Platon Antoniou
The photographer Platon Antoniou has many great works to his name, but some more
interesting work is how he captures raw emotion in face portraits of world leaders. Platon made
the statement that the world leaders are presented with a shroud of branding and propaganda
(Platon: Photography). The point of the portraits was to get up close with these leaders and
show their personal and emotional side through photographs (Platon: Photography). The two
portraits that do this the best and show a contrast of emotion are Muammar Gaddafi and George
W. Bush. In Muammar Gaddafi s picture, Gaddafi gives off an intimidating and menacing
feeling. His eyes look almost lifeless and are staring down the camera as if he is ready to start or
take on a fight. Platon describes Gaddafi s eyes as having nothing to them and seeming as if his
soul had been taken (Witty). The left side of his lip is curling and his nostrils are completely
flared showing that he could be angry and agitated by something. Despite all the agitation in his
face, Gaddafi almost looks to be calm as if he is ready for anything that is going to come his way.
Platon says that in his view Gaddafi looked to be challenging America, which is a reasonable
assumption as during Gaddafi s tenure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bush is seen with a big smile showing possible happiness and excitement about what is
happening and coming in his life. His eyes are looking at the camera with endearment and an
inviting look that he is open to others. His lips have no curling and his nostrils are not flared so
there seems to be no animosity and he only has a calm and joyful presence. Bush s face in this
portrait is a good representation of his overall happy and upbeat personality that most people are
used to seeing. Through photography, Platon Antoniou is able to show the personal and emotional
side of world leaders who are otherwise seen as some sort of monolithic structure in

Welter Weight of Plant Growing
Welter Weight of plant growing: Water VS other liquids
Purpose of Project The purpose of this project is to see if there is a difference in how plants grow
based on what they are watered with. By watering five different plants with five different liquids
and measuring them daily we will prove or disprove the hypothesis.
Problem of the Project Different liquids contain different additives and nutrients that could
potentially affect the growth of a plant. This project will reveal how different liquids affect the
growth of plants. Various research has been done that will support the problem of what liquid can
stimulate the growth of a plant more successfully. By measuring each plant after watering them
with the six liquids, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The water container had the most growth and produced two plants one on day 7 and one on day 8
which indicated both seeds had germinated. Each plant produced one leaf (both on day 10). The
leaves were light green in color and had a firm texture.
The milk container was the only other container that had any growth at all. On day 11, one sprout
appeared and curled up from the soil; however, the stem never emerged and by day 13, it had died.
No other pot produced a plant.
Processed Data:
Data Analysis:
Given the information, the only liquid good for the bean seeds was the water. Plant growth day 11
The major result of this experiment was that water was the only liquid that would produce a bean
plant. Milk did germinate a seed, but was unable to support the growth of the plant. No other liquids
used in the experiment produced a bean sprout.
Research Conclusion:
In the hypothesis, the purpose of the experiment was to discover a liquid that provided the best
plant growth. When the experiment started, it was hypothesized there would

Violence During The Trojan War
The Trojan War is one of the most important events in Greek Mythology. The Trojan War had so
much violence throughout, that there were three types of violence. Physical violence is the
fighting part of the war. Verbal violence is when the Greeks and Trojans would hurt each other
with words not weapons. Sexual violence was the raping of any women who were from Troy or
the Greeks. In this analysis, you will learn the three types of violence in the Trojan War.
Physical violence was the main type of violence that occurred throughout the grueling Trojan
War. In Mythology it says, For nine years victory wavered, now to this side, now to that. Neither
was ever able to gain any decided advantage. Each and every day, for nine years there was a bloody,
gory battle that took place. A lot of the noblest fighters in Greek Mythology died in this war such
as; Achilles, Ajax, Hector, and Paris. Obviously, Physical violence was what occurred throughout
the bloody Trojan War.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Mythology it says Athena sweeping down to the battlefield, persuaded the foolish heart of
Panduras, a Trojan, to break the truce and shoot an arrow at Menelaus. If Athena had not tricked
Panduras into shooting an arrow at Menelaus, Troy might still be standing here to this present
day. Also, when The Judgement of Paris occurred, if Aphrodite had not portrayed her story to
Paris well enough to get the golden apple, most likely the Trojan War would ve never happened.
Truly, Verbal violence can be just as effective as Physical

Advantages Of Sensitivity Analysis
In proper terms, the risk is related with project can be well defined as the changeability that is
probably to take place in the forthcoming earnings from the project. The larger the inconsistency of
the predictable returns will indicate the riskier project. On the other hand, risk can be restrained

budgeting in which it will directly affected the firms. For some reasons, capital budgeting is
important in term that the project will be approved via the capital budgeting. Thus, the firms
become knotted to the project and lose some of its flexibility during the project. Other than that, the

Other than that, sensitivity analysis is ascertains ranges that are critical in the accomplishment of
overall organization goals. Thus, this approach is closely observed by the management. Sensitivity
analysis also cannot avoid the limitation of the approach. One of the limitations is that the
sensitivity analysis is not comparative to the nature. In easy ways to explain, the sensitivity analysis
merely deliberates the degree of variable changes. The probability of the changes does not take into
account. Other than that, the sensitivity analysis is not an optimizing method in which that it will
only provide the foundation for the further analysis, clarification and decision making. Although
there are some advantages and limitation for the risk approaches, yet it still can be used as a
technique in order to reduce the uncertainties and reduce the risk for forecasting the

told Peter he was the Rock upon whom the Christian Church would be built. Throughout the
public life of Jesus, Peter is represented in the Gospel as the Spokesman and principal member of
Jesus followers. He is the first named in the entire list given of these followers and was present
with a privilege at few special occasions, example, the daughter of Jairus brought back to life by
Jesus. He was also the first to see Jesus after his resurrection from the dead. Peter baptized the

Irony In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet are two names that are constantly associated with love. Love isn t the half of the
story of Romeo and Juliet, it is moreso a story of conflict and secrecy. The reason for the conflict
is the two wealthy families of Capulet and Montague. The conflict between the two houses leads to
the secrecy involved with Romeo and Juliet s Relationship. This can be seen in the physical
conflicts between the houses, how they view each other, and also the conflicts within the houses
that happen because of other conflicts. The story of Romeo and Juliet starts with a fight between
the Montagues and the Capulets. Act 1 scene 1 starts with a disagreement between two Capulet
servants and two Montague servants. Draw, if you be men. Gregory, remember... Show more

attending this party even though he is a Montague and it is a Capulet party. Because of this he is
overcome with rage and the desire to kill Romeo. Romeo and Juliet fall in love at the party but
later Juliet learns he is a Montague. It is obvious that the fact that he is a Montague is throwing
her off. By a name I know not how to tell thee who I am. My name, dear saint, is hateful to myself
Because it is an enemy to thee. Had I it written, I would tear the word. Romeo says that his title
isn t who he really is and it won t get in the way of his love for her. His name and Montague title
are now irrelevant because he is so in love with Juliet. The conflict between Montague and Capulet
has brought forth a mutual hatred among the two

Civil Disobedience And The Civil Rights Movement
During the Civil Rights Movement, King and many of his followers and fellow activists deeply
followed the path of non violent protest, otherwise known as civil disobedience. After being
arrested during the 1963 Birmingham Campaign, King received a series of critiques from fellow
clergymen stating their disapproval of his actions. Of course, King addressed a letter, now more
commonly known as Letter from Birmingham Jail, to his critics as well as the nation in order to
defend his ideology. Though King does a great job at explaining to his audience the essence of his
ideology, he fails to address the practicality or universality of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience
may have been a powerful tool for the Civil Rights Movement but it seems the political
atmosphere of the United States was able to make its success possible. The United States is
considered a modern democratic state and its constitution limits the power of the government to a
degree. In this political atmosphere, civil disobedience and other forms of protest would be the
ideal. At most, the government would only be able to imprison an individual and with reasonable
punishment, the most probable sentence would be only a few months to a year or two. Now,
suppose a person living during the early era of the Tokugawa Shogunatewanted a change and does
so through civil disobedience. Let us say that this person is a daimyo or lord who disagrees with
the Shogun and directly disobeys an order. First

  • 3. Qualities of Heros in In the Time of the Butterflies by... How would you determine if some one was a hero or not? What characteristics would they obtain? Do you think you have hero like qualities? The Maribal sisters are three young girls who start an underground revolution against their very own dictator. This revolution is still remembered today. They realized the man Trujillo was not who he said he was or who he wanted to be viewed as. The group in the underground revolution were known as The butterflies. One Maribal sister, named Minerva was who I believe to be the true hero in the history of this event. She was responsible, stood up to Trujillo, and followed her dreams to go to college and obtain a law degree. Minerva was a responsible young lady. ... I asked papa if I could go along. P.12... Minerva stands up to him and does not let Trujillo treat her like the rest of the girls. Minerva is in no way a push over. This is hero like quality to have, she stands up for what she believes is right and will also go to the next level to do the things she wants to do. Minerva made it possible for herself to go to college and get a law degree. I want to go the university......I ve always wanted to study law. P.65 Minerva tells Trujillo about her wanting to study law, a trait that not many people think of women to do in these days. I m not interested in admirers until I have my law degree. P.66 Minerva explains to Trujillo that her law degree is more important to her than other things. She shows that she doesn t need or want a thing to do with him or anything that comes between her law degree. Minerva insists, though, that I give law a chance. • 5. Moodity Definition Essay Literary texts can be divided into commodities and non commodities based on whether or not their messages are benefitting the author directly. If a work is created to sell an ideal that may not benefit the author immediately, it often has a larger impact on society, and it becomes a commodity. However, if the work brings in any monetary value or help to its author, it is no longer a commoditybecause it profited its creator. Because this can vary due to the use of the text by others, literature can become a commodity to different degrees thanks to the interpretation of the work by their audience. The term commodity itself, as coined by Marx, has a very broad definition. The commodity is, first of all, an external object, a thing which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John Lennon, through his music, spread his view of the importance of world peace. He was able to gain many followers to his movement and impact the world of music and politics through his music. John Lennon himself was wealthy and did not need to spend his time and energy on trying to better life for the less fortunate. Because he was actually able to send out his message and effectively create rallies and movements in response to his views, his listeners made his music a commodity. However, though his music was able to do a lot of good, it also was the reason he was incredibly wealthy. Through his social status because of his wealth, he was able to spread his message. His listeners, in order to hear his message, would buy his music and feed into his fame and fortune. This defies the definition of commodity because his literature, or his music, was also very beneficial to himself. Though his listeners used it to create political awareness of the need for peace, he also used it to keep his name famous and to keep his income steady. This complicates his music as defined as a commodity, and shows that an audience can give something use value and make it a commodity at the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When first beginning to dumpster dive, he felt scavenging was not very challenging, rather he felt that he could find what he needed with simply looking. All it would take is a fraction of athleticism just to lower their body into the dumpster, but also knowing how to distinguish if the food they were about to consume was decent or better just to leave it where it was found. It is defined as a policy of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or military force. An example of this is European Imperialism, which lasted from 1870 to 1915. European powers imperialized smaller countries/nations like Africato gain resources, power and most importantly, to spread their ideas. Through European Imperialism, imperialization was mainly justified and caused by social relations that still manage to influence the world today by disrupting traditions and social structures. • 15. Golden Age Of Athens Athens had what is known as its Golden Age between 480 and 430 BCE, and while it was a relatively short period of time, it laid the foundations of western civilization. As the Golden Age dawned, the autonomous poleis (city states) that had formed in the preceding two to three centuries had set aside their differences and united to face the threat of invasion posed by the Persian Empire. Though vastly outnumbered, the Greeks had finally defeated the Persian armies in 480 BCE. In the years of peace that followed, the Greeks made significant advances in art, literature, science and philosophy, as pride and patriotism drove them to greater heights of creativity and in Athens, an experiment with a new kind of government flourished under the statesman Pericles. Prior to about 600 BCE, Athens had been an oligarchy, with an aristocratic minority controlling its government. But enlightened Athenian leaders began instituting reforms to the city s government between 600 and 500 BCE. Solon (c. 638 558 BCE) introduced a new code of laws that was less harsh than Athens existing legal code (laid out by an Athenian statesman called Draco, hence the term draconian to describe repressive laws) , and also set up a Popular Assembly of Citizens, although a council of aristocrats still made the laws. Cleisthenes (c. 570 508 BCE) known as the Father of Democracy expanded democracy still further, creating a Council of 500, which consisted of 50 representatives from each Greek tribe. He ... • 16. Robert Walton And Robert Walton In Frankenstein By Mary... In Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, Robert Walton is comparable to Frankenstein s monster. Neither are able to find any sense of belonging, and have a craving for the companionship of someone similar to themselves. Robert Walton plays an often overlooked role in this story, although he can be considered the primary narrator. Walton is the captain of a failing expedition to the North Pole who discovers a freezing and lost Victor Frankenstein. Walton nurses Frankenstein back to health, and Frankenstein tells Walton of his misfortune of a life story. The similarities between Frankenstein and Walton are made fairly obvious, as Frankenstein himself points out their somewhat similar pursuits of knowledge and failure to realize their own limits, as well as warns Walton about the consequences of taking an obsession too far, implying that Frankenstein sees a little of himself in the captain. However, I think that there is an even more interesting observation to be made of Walton, by comparing him to the monster. Both Walter and the monster experience a considerable amount of loneliness, with a contrasting cause and a comparable effect. Both of them are also fairly intelligent, with little education, creating another parallel between the two. Walton s search for a like minded individual is seemingly endless. Walton is unable to find people with thoughts and tastes similar to his own. This is made clear in Walton s letters to his sister. The source of the monster s loneliness is a ... • 17. The Human Skin Your skin is the body s п¬Ѓrst defense mechanism. A barrier against pathogens and water loss, the human epidermis undergoes a constant renewal process called corniп¬Ѓcation, as old dead skin cells, corneocytes, are shed and replaced by cells from the layers below to maintain constant protection. A defect in the skinbarrier could develop various skin conditions, including atopic dermatitis. The most common form of eczema, atopic dermatitis is a chronic skin condition characterized by inflammation and itchy, dry patches of skin. Although no cause has been determined, researchers focus on studying genetic abnormalities and influences on a defective epidermal barrier (Sajic, Asiniwasis, Skotnicki Grant, 2012). Mutations in the п¬Ѓlaggrin gene, with environmental factors that further damage the skin s protective barrier, are one of many aspects contributing to the cracked skin and inflammation of atopic dermatitis. Filaggrin is an important protein in corniп¬Ѓcation that contributes to the strength and moisture of the stratum corneum, or topmost layer of the skin, through formation of the corniп¬Ѓed envelope and maintenance of the natural moisturizing factor. The precursor to п¬Ѓlaggrin is proп¬Ѓlaggrin, a protein in keratohyalin F granules at the granular epidermal layer. As the granular cells transition to the stratum corneum during cornification, serine activated proteases proteotypically cleave profilaggrin into filaggrin peptides (McLean Irvine, 2012). One of the fathers old friend s comes to visit and tell stories of his journey. He talks about the pyramids, interesting people, different states and many other things over some drinks. The sergeant started telling a story about something called the monkey s paw, which is what really peaked the father s interest. The sergeant said it would grant you three wishes, but at a price. After the he finished his story the father asked to have it as a memento. The father s friend knew there was no way he would drop it so the sergeant gave him the paw, but before letting go he told him there were consequences if he used it. It was getting late and the sergeant had to leave. After he left the son went to bed so he would be ready for work in the morning, but the father and mother stayed up talking about the paw. A hour pasted and the father wished for money not thinking about what bad may happen. I wishfor two hundred pounds, said the old man distinctly. (part 1, W.W. Jacobs). The next morning the son went to work at the saw mill like an ordinary day. the parents laying in there yard reading a knitting were talking about how it didn t work and it was a tall tale when out of the blue, the father and mother received a visit from a stranger that works with there son at the mill. • 21. The Influences Of Mahler s Work As A Conductor And Composer How does one codify the influences of Mahler s work as a conductor and composer? As Gustav Mahler is well known for his conducting, he is best known for his skills as a composer. Mahler s interpretative style enabled him, undistracted by the army of gossipers who in all walks of life gather round the success seekers, to develop, to grow, to mature, to live his works and to create, as Schubert created his songs, Bruckner his symphonies and Masses, and Wagner his music dramas (Grange). However, Leonard Bernstein sometimes felt (according to PBS American Masters video on Bernstein) like he had become Mahler in his performances. Gustav Mahlerhas become an iconic figure in the eyes of other conductors/composers, because it helped them become masters of their own works with the influential ideas of Mahler. Born on July 7, 1860, in Kalischt, Bohemia, Gustav Mahler was a late Romantic composer and one of the leading conductors of his generation. As a composer, Mahler acted as a bridge between the 19th century Austro German tradition and the modernism of the early 20th century. While in his lifetime his status as a conductor was established beyond question, his own music gained wide popularity only after periods of relative neglect which included a ban on its performance in much of Europe during the Nazi era. However, Mahler also was a Jew, and Jews in the region were associated by ethnic Czechs with Germans. Mahler s famous quote is: I am thrice homeless, as a native of ... When Catherine Donahue says her first line that this play is neither a comedy or a tragedy; I was somewhat taken back by this because the play describes four women who get extremely sick from radiumpoisoning. Each of the girls experience different side effects from the radium, but the play further explains Catherine s side effect which was ultimately death. Therefore, I believe this play is a tragedy. In the beginning of the play it starts out with four healthy women working at a radial dial company making watches with radium. They were paid the modern equivalent of $0.27 per watch dial, so the harder they worked, unknowingly swallowing deadly amounts of poison each time to make a few extra pennies, the faster death would approach (MessyNessy, The Radium Girlsand the Generation That Brushed Its Teeth with Radioactive Toothpaste). Chances that one will jump into the idea of cockfighting in Bali villages would probably be very low. Cockfighting plays a pivotal role in the life of numerous Balinese men. As Geertz (2005), an American anthropologist suggested, cockfighting is considered as a part of The Balinese Way of Life . A cockfight , in a straightforward explanation, means a fight between two roosters in a caged ring until one of them dies for the amusement of spectators (PETA, n.d.). However, to Balinese men, it means so much more than this it is an obsession that has been passed down through generations. Every year in Bali, there will be legal large scale cockfights in almost every village of Bali. This precedes the renowned public holiday in Bali called Nyepi, where people in Bali are not allowed to go out of their houses and even have to turn off the lights when they are indoors. • 34. Gender Impact On Class And Gender Effect of Class and Gender Do class and gender affect how individuals act or behave? Society has evolved throughout the years and with that evolution, the people have separated themselves by factors such as class and gender. This separation started many centuries ago and made a large appearance in the Great Depression and Civil Rights Movement. Along with this division of people, actions and behaviors seem to have been paired with certain classifications of people. In prior eras, women were seen as fragile and not earners due to needing to stay at home and take care of children. On the contrary, men were seen as masculine and earned a decent amount of money from working all day long. Even though genders evolved into how they are now with women working alongside men, the separation is still visible. Women are still fighting to get paid the same amount as men, resulting in a certain behavior based on the gender. This behavior is one where women try to get equal pay through comparable worth instead of just staying quiet like women used to. The factors of class and gender cause a difference in an individual s actions and behavior in the ways of not socializing with certain types of people, creating stereotypes, and behaving in a way to fit the norms of the specific class or gender. There are many different articles written that can help describe how socialization, generalized ideas, and standards cause individuals in different genders and classes to act in a certain way. A few of the most important are Post Princess Models of Gender: The New Man in Disney/Pixar by Gillam and Wooden, Seeing and Making Culture: Representing the Poor by hooks, and Girls Bodies, Girls Selves: Body Image, Identity, and Sexuality by Lipkin. All of these articles have aspects that point towards the fact that different reason cause individuals to perform their everyday activities in a certain way. Gillam and Wooden explain in their article that new films produced by Disney and Pixar have changed the idea of masculinity from one of the past to one that accepts the more traditional femininity. Through a series of flashbacks and flash forwards, orchestrated by diegetic and non diegetic sounds, the film follows Eva Khatchadourian (Tilda Swinton), mother of baby Kevin (Ricky Duer) and, later, teenage Kevin (Ezra Miller), as she recalls the influential events leading up to and the aftermath of Kevin murdering his peers and family with his bow and arrow. Perceptual properties of sound, including loudness and timbre, internal diegetic sounds, Eva s thoughts and sonic flashbacks, and the use of silence when viewing interactions between Eva and Kevin, shape the audience s understanding of the film. The film employs on screen and off screen diegetic sounds such as screaming, crying, and ticking and highlights objects/sounds which act as motifs. • 40. Sir Isaac Newton Cause And Effect Cause and Effect: Sir Isaac Newton We build too many walls and not enough bridges. Greetings, I m Sir Isaac Newton, the famed scientific discoverer of gravity. My childhood was anything but stable. Three months after my father died in 1642, I was born a small, premature infant on January 4th, 1643 in Lincolnshire. My mother remarried when I was 3 and left me with my grandmother. I hated my stepfather, and despised my mother for marrying him, even threatening to burn their house down. In school, I found my solace in books, particularly in science and mechanics. In my first year of college at Cambridge University, my mother returned and tried to make me a farmer, but farming was boring and derivative, so my uncle brought me back to school and I studied color, light, alchemy, history, and religion, particularly the Bible. After the plague, I was forced to return home, where I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It completely changed scientists and people s views of the universe. Robert accused me of plagiarism, but his claims were invalid. I suffered a mental breakdown later that year for many reasons and became a recluse. After that I joined Parliament and saved England s money crisis. It was around that time I suffered another mental breakdown but recovered quickly. I lived with my niece for my final years. It was around that time where I told the story of the falling apple that made me think about gravitational forces at my farm back home. • 41. Platon Antoniou The photographer Platon Antoniou has many great works to his name, but some more interesting work is how he captures raw emotion in face portraits of world leaders. Platon made the statement that the world leaders are presented with a shroud of branding and propaganda (Platon: Photography). The point of the portraits was to get up close with these leaders and show their personal and emotional side through photographs (Platon: Photography). The two portraits that do this the best and show a contrast of emotion are Muammar Gaddafi and George W. Bush. In Muammar Gaddafi s picture, Gaddafi gives off an intimidating and menacing feeling. His eyes look almost lifeless and are staring down the camera as if he is ready to start or take on a fight. Platon describes Gaddafi s eyes as having nothing to them and seeming as if his soul had been taken (Witty). The left side of his lip is curling and his nostrils are completely flared showing that he could be angry and agitated by something. Despite all the agitation in his face, Gaddafi almost looks to be calm as if he is ready for anything that is going to come his way. Platon says that in his view Gaddafi looked to be challenging America, which is a reasonable assumption as during Gaddafi s tenure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bush s face in this portrait is a good representation of his overall happy and upbeat personality that most people are used to seeing. • 49. Civil Disobedience And The Civil Rights Movement During the Civil Rights Movement, King and many of his followers and fellow activists deeply followed the path of non violent protest, otherwise known as civil disobedience. After being arrested during the 1963 Birmingham Campaign, King received a series of critiques from fellow clergymen stating their disapproval of his actions. Of course, King addressed a letter, now more commonly known as Letter from Birmingham Jail, to his critics as well as the nation in order to defend his ideology. Though King does a great job at explaining to his audience the essence of his ideology, he fails to address the practicality or universality of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience may have been a powerful tool for the Civil Rights Movement but it seems the political atmosphere of the United States was able to make its success possible. The United States is considered a modern democratic state and its constitution limits the power of the government to a degree. In this political atmosphere, civil disobedience and other forms of protest would be the ideal. At most, the government would only be able to imprison an individual and with reasonable punishment, the most probable sentence would be only a few months to a year or two. Now, suppose a person living during the early era of the Tokugawa Shogunatewanted a change and does so through civil disobedience. Let us say that this person is a daimyo or lord who disagrees with the Shogun and directly disobeys an order. First ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
