2. Welcoming
• It is un-conventional for most
teenage films to be focused on a
clique letting in a member, most are
focused on the troubles in friendship
groups. Instead we focus on the
struggle of excelling at school, and
how the geeks welcome Sam into
their team in order for her to try and
claim some extra credit. This is a
much fairer portrayal of teenage girls
as most films focusing on their bad
behaviour and interest in boys.

3. Full Female Cast
• It is un conventional in any trailer
to have a full female cast, with no
male characters at all. We had a
full female cast because we
wanted to portray our female
characters as hard working
students. If there had been male
characters, viewers would have
expected relationships to be the
main focal point.

4. Voice Over
• We do use a conventional voice over in our teaser
trailer, in order to tell the story and narrative of
our film. Voiceovers are mainly used to show
what the character is thinking as the trailer starts,
however we have used a series of questions for
ours. These questions are to get the viewers
thinking about the storyline. We encourage them
to decide if our damsel is cheating, or if she is
truly working hard at the maths competition in
order to gain extra credit.

5. Storyline
• As most chick flick films are targeted at young
teenage girls, a lot of the storyline is given
away in the trailer. We showed a lot of our
storyline in our trailer as this is as young
audiences want to know if they really want to
watch a film before paying to see it.

6. Introducing Characters
• Introducing characters is a common element
in many different trailers in order for the
audience to be aware of who is featured in the
film. We introduced our main characters in
our trailer, by showing a series of clips of a
school photo scenario, when the camera
flashes their name appears. This to clearly
show who are characters were.

7. Post- Feminism
• We support the post feminism theory that females are
in control of consumerinism and their bodies. We
illustrate this in our trailer as our all female cast are
more focused on excelling at school and getting
through school life. We showed this by having most of
the images in the trailer being focused on being at
school and the competition. We do show images of a
makeover session but this is to turn our popular
damsel Sam into a geek, this reinforces the idea that
the female cast are not concerned about relationships.
By suggesting girls are more focused in excelling at
their school work, we therefore made sure there was
no sign of male infatuation in our trailer.
