Comparisons of the Natural World

Comparisons of the Natural World Up until the 17th Century, an understanding of the natural
world and how it operates was very limited and the general consensus was that there was God,
and all things were created by him in a hierarchical order that sustained the balance of man.
Although these Gods varied between ethnicities and religions, the general idea of a creator is
consistent. However, with the extent of experiences and experimentation of Galileo, Bacon and
Newton, the world was able to explore a new realm of reality in scientific discovery and analysis.
Although the works of Galileo, Bacon and Newton can be compared with each other in regard to
the idea of experimentation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francis Bacon is better known for his theories that man will better understand nature if he uses the
mind as a tool rather than rely entirely on scientific discovery. It is Bacon that attempts to connect
the science and understanding of the physical world with society. Bacon s Novum Organum lists a
series of aphorisms by which man should abide by in order to attain a better understanding of the
natural world. These aphorisms are a guide to accepting science as the entire truth of the natural
world. His writings are peculiar because he lays down these guidelines and within them there seems
to be a constant message that instructs doubt in scientific experimentation, where Bacon himself is
a scientist that utilizes the use of experimentation and scientific method. Moreover, he outlines the
four classes of idols that effect the thought and minds of man, I have assigned names, calling the
first class Idols of the Tribe; the second, Idols of the cave; the third, Idols of the Marketplace; the
fourth, Idols of the Theatre (TOM 29). The first idol describes the need for man to distort and
discolor nature by enforcing his own nature upon it. This idol can be seen constantly throughout
scientists research as they constantly draw their own conclusions upon constant experimentation,
much like the works of

Speech On The Oppressed By Paulo Freire
Mohamad Afiq Md Daud
WR115
Conversation Plan
In Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Paulo Freire describes about what the education system supposedly
need to be. He critiques that the education during his era is almost as similar as dictatorship. In this
style of education, teacher has the superiority over their students. The teacher is the one who know
everything, while the students are considered to know nothing, and that is absolutely unfair
towards the students because they do not have the chance to learning . Furthermore, based on Kirp s
excerpt entitled Make School a Democracy , he reveals the solution towards the education system
problem during Freire s era. The solution is also known as Escuela Nueva (New School) model.
Hence, what do I realize is the education is a process of teaching and learning between the teacher
and the students. An effective education system leads the students in becoming a person with a
good thinking skills who able to understand the facts rather than memorizing it. Based on what I
have read, I recognized that both Freire and Kirp have a similar main idea in fighting for the
education rights. They suggest that education needs to be an interactive learning. Both teacher and
students need to communicate by making discussion or sharing opinions; this theory is also called
as problem posing education. For example, a teacher is posing a question for the students, and he or
she has already prepared the answer; however, the students independently

The Impacts Of Cultural Tourism In Cuba, Cuban, Cuba
Mindless, repetitive locals performing once sacred and revered ceremonies now on a daily basis is
nothing tourists think about when they vacation to culturally preserved areas, yet this unintended
cultural destruction is unfortunately the blatant truth. Due to recent travel restrictions lifted by
President Barack Obama, Cubais now open to American citizens to vacation. Whether for the better
or worse, new tourismwithin a previously undisturbed area such as Havana, Cuba, is liable to have
significant effects on the social, economical, and environmental aspects of their culture.
Past relations between the United States and Cuban government have been less than favorable.
After the Cuban revolution, the island established a communist government, therefore angering the
United States as they were fighting foreign wars in an attempt to end communism. In 1961, the
United States severed relations with the island, and since then have restricted travel to and from
Cuba. Recently, in 2015, President Barack Obama repealed the travel ban with Cuba, loosening up
trade and tourism between the two countries, but not ending their communist ways. This newly
accessible country now acts as a beacon to world travelers wanting to learn the ways of Cuban
lifestyle. Cuban culture revolves around everything from the people s lifestyle, to the economy, to
the natural ecosystem enveloping the island. This is called cultural tourism. This being said, this
poses a number of new issues for

Ivanhoe
In everybody s life there is something that makes him strive for success. That something can be
money, women, fame, or many other incentives.. To the medieval knights, victory renown and
glory are the ambitions they strive for. Breaking a law in this code would be considered a
disgrace, and would bring a dishonor that was worse than death itself. However, by applying the
Code of Chivalry, the knights in the medieval time displayed certain character traits which would
secure success and honor in both battle and morality. In the book Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott, a
knight named Ivanhoe illustrates this by devoting his attention to keeping the rules of the Code of
Chivalry, which consisted of love of adventure, integrity, and loyalty to the... Show more content on

If his home country of England is to lose the battles, he and his country would be disgraced. His
fear of disgrace helps lead him on. Having a fear of disgrace shows the reader that having this
motive can lead one on to success. br br People can learn a lesson not only about glory, but of
bravery also. Besides glory, bravery is used throughout the novel also. An example of this is
when Sir Brian de Bois Guilbert dies for Rebecca. Ivanhoe demonstrates bravery when he fights
Brian to repay Rebecca for her care when he is hurt. He is also very brave when he fights for his
Saxon image. Even though he is not a major character in this book, Robin Hood also shows
bravery. He robs from the rich and gives to the poor which breaks certain parts in the Code of
Chivalry. Through his actions, he fulfills part of the Code. He is brave and has a love of
adventure in doing so, but his integrity and respect to the king is taken by his criminal actions.
People can learn from these examples that sometimes being brave is not pretty. Both Sir Brian
de Bois Guilbert and Robin Hood had to suffer consequences for being brave. br br Bravery is very
important to knights. If they are not brave they are disgraced, which is something they fear the
most. Ivanhoe s motto is Death is better than defeat, this shows his fear of disgrace. Likewise, in
are society there are certain people that are looked at as being a disgrace. br br In society today

Deadlift Vs Deadlifting
There are three universal lifting exercises which nearly every person has partial knowledge of
what they are and do for your body; those being the bench, squat and deadlift. At all lifting levels,
people attempt these three exercises, and a majority of participants have incorrect technique which
could easily harm themselves. Numerous people do not have a solid idea as to why or which type
of exercisethey should be doing that will give the results they are looking for. Specifically, for the
deadlift, there are two major exercises which bring you different body focuses and results. The two
different variations to the deadlifts are a traditional barbell deadlift and a trap bar deadlift.

Radical Feminist Analysis
This paper will analyze, the bill dubbed as the slapping law , in Russia. Using the perspective of
Radical Feminist Thought, I argue that such violence is normalized through the lack of current
public resistance to this crime and contends that women themselves begin to see this type of
treatment as acceptable. Structurally, this paper will begin by providing a concise summary of the
values of Radical feminismto give clarification on the standpoint of this feminist position in
analysis of the current event. It will describe the history of criminalizing domestic violence; how
liberal and radical feminist views differ in looking at the private/public and how popular

Any society that is committed to equality between the sexes must then be particularly responsive
to crimes that are based on sex or gender. It is that radical feminist theory has impacted society on
both the micro and the macro level, resulting women s movement for equality in bringing social
changes impacting the responses to domestic violence issues. Our popular understanding and legal
approach to domestic violence has shifted dramatically throughout the years. There has been a shift
from the private response, where domestic violence was considered a product of relationship
dysfunction, to a fully public campaign in which the state takes the lead in combating domestic
violence through arrest and prosecution of abusers. This shift, I have argued, reflects a radical
feminist understanding of domestic violence as patriarchal force and was informed by earlier
radical feminist theorizing on

The Human Body In Greek Art
Almost seven feet tall, a life like sculpture stands, broad and muscular, in the middle of the
National Archeological Museum, Naples, Italy. Made of bronze yet so full of life, the Spear
Bearer is one of many ancient Greek sculptures surviving, as good as new, till this day. On the
other side of the world stands the New York Kouros at the Metropolitan Museum, rigid and
awkward, and all together unrealistic. However, Greek art, especially Greek sculptureand vase
painting has not always portrayed the human body in such a perfect and idealistic way. Up until
500 BCE, Greek sculpture and statuary specifically were completely different to what is seen and
defined as Greek sculpture today while Greek vase painting and other representations of the human
body maintained their less realistic style. The Greeksnot only developed but also improved their
artwork of the human figure throughout Early Greece only to present a better and more idealistic
image of sculpture using naturalism and realism towards the Classical period.... Show more content

The human representations in Greek art were very similar in many ways to the Egyptians early
work. This was due to the fact that during the Archaic period, Greek artists found inspiration in
Egyptian art and were influenced to adopt their styles and techniques into their own artwork; small
details in Egyptian statuary and paintings were incorporated into Greek sculptures and vase
paintings (Archaic Greek Art). Similarities, for starters, can be seen in the materials, medium and

Perfect Marriage In Kate Hemingway s Hills Like White...
Looking from the Inside
Anne and Ted have been married for 25 years, dated for 10 and have 3 kids together. On the
outside it looks like have the picture perfect marriage. One day he packed up his things and left
their home and relationship of over 30 years with no explanation whatsoever. Couples will think the
world of their spouse and build their lives around them only to be disregarded when it suits them.
Spouses are left wondering what had happened that made their partners walked out on them after all
they have been through and the sacrifices both may have made. This is the time they realized they
do not know their partners as they thought they did and all the sacrifices made was not enough to
keep them. This is exhibited in the story The Storm by Kate Chopin where a couple seems to have
a perfect marriage, but the wife then she cheats on her husband with her ex lover. Then they
returned to their normal lives not telling neither of their partner about the adultery they committed.
In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants a couple is having a heated argument about the
woman going for an abortion and how that would ease the tension in their relationship that the
pregnancy had brought. Calixta s cheating in The Storm sheds light on Hemingway s Hills Like
White Elephants helping me understand people s willingness to take risks to sustain relationships,
how difficult humans are to please and how unknowingly people live in lies. People are ready to

Third Man Noir
Graham Greene, the author of The Third Man wrote the screenplay for his film before adapting it
into the novella of the same name. Because of this rather peculiar order, the similarities between the
two are very strong, something that is not always the case with books and their film adaptations.
Though there a few stylistic differences between the novella and the film, the two mediums of
storytelling both remained quite true to the storyline. The noir genre was an essential piece to the
story of The Third Man, and both the novella and the film were able to convey this in their own
way though the techniques varied because of the two different mediums. Noir literature is usually
comprised of a few solid elements: dark, detective or criminal... Show more content on

The music was by Viennese zither player Anton Karas whose greatest accomplishment was the
soundtrack for The Third Man. In Roger Ebert s review of the film, he made sure to praise the
music by stating, Has there ever been a film where the music more perfectly suited the action
than in Carol Reed s The Third Man ?... The sound is jaunty but without joy, like whistling in the
dark. It sets the tone; the action begins like an undergraduate lark and then reveals vicious
undertones (Ebert). This description so nicely explains the soundtrack, and especially the
theme; it has a playful feel to it, but when it is paired with the film itself, it sounds a bit
mischievous and even a bit eerie, but, overall, it sets the tone for the action of the film. Ebert
concludes his review by praising the way that the film made him feel by stating that, Of all the
movies I have seen, this one most completely embodies the romance of going to the movies. It
was weary and knowing, and it s glorious style was an act of defiance against the corrupt world it
pictured (Ebert). This statement stands as a true testament to the film and to all who worked on it,

A Comparison Of Porphyria s Lover And Andrew Marvell

Dangerously in Love In Anthony Hamilton s song Love is so Complicated, he sings, Love is

to many dangerous consequences in a relationship. Browning and Marvell both examine dark love
in their poems. Both poets want their mistress to commit to them so they can have control over
them. Both Robert Browning in Porphyria s Lover and Andrew Marvell in To His Coy Mistress
explore the theme of obsessive love through their use of imagery, metaphors and personification.
Robert Browning was born in 1812 in London, England. He lived with his parents until he was
thirty four years old and secretly married his wife Elizabeth Barrett. Porphyria s Lover is one of
Browning s early dramatic monologues (Maxwell 27). It was first published as Porphyria in

Book Review on the Vietnam War by Mark Atwood Lawrence
Lawrence, Mark A. The Vietnam War. Chicago: Fitzroy Dearborn Publishers, 2001. Print.
Over the preceding period, a lot of scholars have tried to explore the international proportions that
underlie the Vietnam War. By way of exploring the dimensions that are related to this war, they
have succeeded in nudging what is believed to be the gravity that is associated with Vietnam War
erudition away from the custom fixation to the role that the United States took. In an admirably
brisk and compactly written volume, Lawrence Mark does build on a trend that presents conflicting
episodes of global history. He successfully creates this lively and compact trend through his roots
that he bases in the extensive and extended history of Vietnam which is related to the historical
conjuncture that was in existence between the Cold Warand decolonization as well as emphasizing
on the contributions that are critical of belligerents and other Vietnamese to the developments of
the wars. America is central to Mark s story by showing how some of the actors decision such as
Beijing, Hanoi, Moscow, and Saigon helped in shaping the constraints that were present
(Lawrence, 65). Thus, this paper critical explores on the book review of Mark Lawrence called

In the late eighteen hundreds, the Reconstruction by Congress was overturned by the Supreme
Court. Segregation or separation by skin color was made a law which was adopted by private
organizations, institutions and businesses (loc.gov). Physical violence and mental harassment was
imposed upon those whom were deemed inferior in color. Some citizens accepted the law, as is,
without question while others believed it was their supreme right to remain separate without
modification. Human activists, that opposed this way of living, pursued an extensive battle to

This couple dancing is the representation of romantic love, but they have certain fears of this
approach because they are afraid of being watched and judged. We heard voices, rumble. There is a
world outside this intimacy.
The video begins with an extreme close up of the skin, by the hedgehogs, sweat on the skin and
whispers in different languages. The bodies touch, male bodies, male voices. A dance, an intimate
encounter. Love is the same in any language. The next shot is more open, we can see more about
these bodies, we can see their faces. Two men dancing, a kind of tango. The music that packs them
in this dance begins (Saint Pierre the name of the Song). You still cannot see where they are. The
next shots will be wider and always the same choreography packed by the same song. In the fourth
short appears another figure, a woman, red wings and a wreath on the head. The woman dances
around them, she tries shyly to enter the dance but she keeps a certain distance from them. She
dances probes the two men. The woman is the angle in the Tarot card, the lovers. She blesses the
union between these two men. The sexual energy that emanates from this dance is transforming.

2. Introduction:
Nowadays, in almost every theme park, there is a special ride called Roller coaster. The question
here is, how does it work and why are people addicted to it.
The movement of a rollercoaster relies on two types of energies: Gravitational Potential Energy
(GPE) and Kinetic Energy (KE). GPE is a stored energy due to gravity (Potential Kinetic Energy,
2015). (KE is an energy of motion (Kinetic energy, 2015).
Potential energy (PE) is stored energy, has potential to do work.

It means velocity and GPE depends on height. Moreover, if GPE is the Maximum then KE is 0

Abstract This paper presents the original findings of an approach to adopting the bit stream signal
to control a system. It contains the initial design process and simulations of a bit stream based PID
controller to control and stabilize the output of a proposed Capacitive Power Transfer system in the
discrete time domain. Processing The simulated results use MATLAB s Simulink and illustrate the
potential performance of the controller. Compared against simulations of a similar nature in
continuous time, the bit stream implemented system yields near identical results.

David Hume s Argument Against Belief in the Existence of...
David Hume was a British empiricist, meaning he believed all knowledge comes through the senses.
He argued against the existence of innate ideas, stating that humans have knowledge only of things
which they directly experience. These claims have a major impact on his argument against the
existence of miracles, and in this essay I will explain and critically evaluate this argument.
In his discussion Of Miracles in Section X of An Enquiry concerning Human Understanding, Hume
defines a miracle as a violation of the laws of nature and as a firm and unalterable experience has
established these laws 1. Basically a miracle is something that happens which is contrary to what
would happen given the structure of the universe. He also states ... Show more content on

In other words he is saying that no matter how good or reliable a testimony may be, it can never
as it were on the basis of experience be justified to accept that testimony over and against what
stands as testimony against the miracle happening. The testimony happens to be the laws of
nature themselves. In this sense it is clear that Hume is giving us a priori argument in Part 1 in
that he is saying that miracles are contrary to reason. However I think it would be easier to
accept this view if Hume had not previously discussed his Induction theory. In regard that he
thought that for example that just because the sun has risen every day so far, it does not
necessarily follow that the sun will rise tomorrow, we have no rational basis in believing it will.
However in regard to miracles he tells us to base our decisions on past experiences, if it is
unlikely it is less likely to be true. So in that sense we should also be able to say that based on
our past experiences the sun will definitely rise tomorrow? Also if the sun was not to rise, surely
that would be a miracle in the sense that it would be a violation of the laws of nature? And what is
exactly a violation of natural laws? Dorothy Coleman points out past experience shows that what
are at one time considered violations of natural laws are frequently found

Immersion In Art Realism
In the beginning video games such as Spacewar! (1962) started with little to no graphics displayed
on small black and white oscilloscope screens.
As technology in video games improves so does
our ability to display larger more detailed graphics and images, leading to beautiful hand drawn
and animated games such as Dark Stalkers (Capcom 1994) and Lori and the blind forest (Moon
Studios 2015). Along with this improvement in technology and graphics, the search for more
immersive experiences has also grown whether it be the NES Power Glove (1989), Battle Tech
centres (1990) or the HTC VIVE (2016) the gameindustry wants to take the immersion that one
step further.
But how important is realistic visual representation to the flow of a game?
Csikszentmihalyi believed that there are eight elements of flow within video games; a task that can

Humanistic Therapy Theory
The therapeutic approach I have chosen to help Maggie overcome her depression is humanistic
therapy. I chose humanistic therapy because first, I like the idea of creating a relationship with your
client to enhance their self worth. Second, I like how the therapist genuinely cares about the patient
and doesn t necessarily have to prescribe medications or just see their patient as another dollar sign.
The humanistic approach is different than the psychodynamic approach because humanist tend to
listen to what their patients have to say and the patient will direct where the therapysession will
lead. However, a psychodynamic therapist already has a conversation thought out and he or she
will determine where the therapy session will go. As a humanistic therapist, the main issues I
need to discuss is her work life, attitudes towards friends or loved ones, and her inner thoughts.
To start off, the first red flag that I see observing Maggie s case is her occupation. She is said to
always strive for the best when it comes to being a medical resident. However, continuously
doing work without having time for herself could be a real problem sanity wise. Furthermore,
she has been with irritable and snippy to her coworkers especially her husband. If she continues
this behavior she might lose a bond with her work colleagues and loved ones. Lastly, her personal
thoughts about her performance or behavior could be draining on a person with depression. When
these negative thoughts continue to circulate especially with her condition it could influence her
to distance herself and probably push her to suicide. The humanistic approach would view and
understand by looking at the person from a whole perspective, instead of a specific point of view
shown through sessions by observing their behavior. Humanists view Maggie s depression as what
is holding her back from becoming the best version of herself. Humanists would believe that
Maggie s depression is a result of her inability to cope with personal circumstances or her inability to
have balance in her life. Humanists would understand her depression by listening to her thoughts
and feelings. Maggie is the conductor of the conversation and humanistic therapists are the listeners

The Election Of The United States Essay
November can be considered as one of the most brutal months of the year. Depends on what year
it is, there is a chance that you will argue with someone at the dinner table when it comes to
politics or the presidential elections. One thing we need to remember is that everything will be
okay no matter what. 2016. Some might consider it just to be an average year, but to me, I
consider it to be one of the worst years we ever had, because of the electionthat was going on. This
was the first year I have ever voted and I am dissatisfied with the results, for the most part. I felt
like my vote counted mainly because I was watching CNN on election night and I keep seeing
states like Pennsylvania in which Trump or Hillary was winning by a few number of votes.
What made me go out and vote is kinda silly. Instead of going out and vote, I voted through the
mail a few weeks before election night. When we got the ballets in the mail, my parents and I
gathered around a table and voted together. I voted for Hillary Clinton mainly because I agree
with her politically, plus I wanted to see a women president. I stayed up to see who won the
electionsand I have to say, I could not sleep when I found out that Trump won the election. What
was going through my mind was that Trump will become our 45th president of the United States
and we might go to war with a few countries in which I could have been drafted to the army to
defend our country since I am under Selective Services. What s worse,

The Historical Contexts Of The African American Vernacular...
I trust that the American lingo will keep on growing, however, different dialects/vernaculars will,
in the end, cease to exist or end up noticeably imperiled. The reason is on the grounds that there are
a huge number of dialects that many individuals don t think about; individuals need to likewise
remember that there are just a few individuals just talking certain vernacular in various locales. The
two dialects that this paper will concentrate on will be African AmericanVernacular English known
as Ebonics and the Gullah dialect; I chose to pick these two dialects since it is critical to see this
African Diaspora the two gatherings originated from oppressed Africans from West of Africa, yet
today one gathering just communicates in English while the other gathering has their own

African American Vernacular Englishbegan amid servitude in the south the Africans were restricted
from utilizing their local dialect. They needed to discover distinctive approaches to speak with their
partners and slave experts, however there is still no thought on how AAVE was totally made
because of the shocking disaster of bondage. The vast majority of these thoughts are just
speculations, however numerous students of history keep on studying the historical backdrop of
African American Vernacular English to discover how it began. One hypothesis proposes that when

This article by Nick Atkin begins by illustrating the rush that many reporters experienced as soon as
the knowledge of Ben Johnson s doping scandal was relayed to them. The franticness and rapid
haste to compose and publish the first article on the matter just represents how influential and
distinguished Ben Johnson was as an athlete.
Despite the fact that drug taking is not ethical, nor admirable, a reporter by the name of Lawton

Before 1988, there had not really been a huge incident involving drugs in sport, and it didn t seem
as much of a problem, however Ben Johnson brought attention to it as such. The way doping has
been viewed from that point onwards has dramatically changed since.
Mr. Lawton states that, Doping must have become a lot more sophisticated , as Hubbard observes
that, The chemists are always one step ahead, working on measures to mask tests. The issue of
doping and performance enhancing drugs in sport cannot be contained or abolished, because
scientists and specialists are producing new drugs and ways of hiding them faster than they are
being discovered and detected by WADA and other organisations. Harp believes that the elimination
of drugs in sport is ...impossible, there s as much chance as stamping out prostitution . There will
always be an athlete with an unfair advantage, and athletes would rather go against their own moral
conscience than risk their livelihood in admitting to using drugs to enhance their performance.
Finally, Ben Johnson s doping history has meant that viewers of future athletic achievements have
become sceptical and unable to trust that an athlete has attained such a feat on only biological and
natural ability. Of course, this scandal is not the only reason that audiences have reservations about

Junk Food
Junk food has been getting a bad rap recently in society. It is believed that junk food is a leading
factor in childhood obesity and should not be allowed in public schools. Due to this many school
systems have enacted bans, or strict regulations that limit or completely exclude junk food in
schools. Junk foodshould not be banned in schools because schools profit and are able to fund
educationand extracurricular activities through selling it, junk food isn t as harmful as one would

to Radford, A study followed nearly 20,000 students from kindergarten through the eighth grade
in 1,000 public and private schools. The researchers examined the children s weight and found
that in the eighth grade, 35.5 percent of kids in schools with junk food were overweight while
34.8 percent of those in schools without it were overweight (1). These researchers came to the
conclusion through this experiment that junk food in school wasn t as serious in issue as one
would think. Junk food isn t exactly available twenty four seven while students are in school. As
stated by Rosenthal There really isn t a lot of opportunity for children to eat while their in
school, or at least eat endlessly, compared to when their at home. As a result whether or not junk
food is available to them in at school may not have much bearing on how much junk food they
eat (6). For lack of a better statement, students can t eat as much at school as they can when their
at home. Whether kids have access to junk food or not, it is believed them gaining weight from it
isn t an issue. As quoted by Radford, kids with access to junk food at school were no heavier than
those without (2). To be blunt, kids who eat junk food aren t going to be any heavier than anyone

Assess Interpretations of Hatshepsut
Assess interpretations of Hatshepsut
The female pharaoh, Hatshepsut, is arguably one of the most influential people of ancient Egypt.
For thousands of years, the workings of Hatshepsut have been subject to multiple interpretations,
from both her time and the modern day. An evaluation of the effectiveness of her reign can be
resolved from the reliability and validity of evidence presented today, both primary and secondary.
In one respect, Hatshepsut is viewed as the female pharaoh who had a particularly unsuccessful
reign that was devoid of any real achievements. Historians writing in the 1970 s and 1980 s often
made sexist and unfounded assumptions about Hatshepsut s rule, including her apparent scheming
to take the throne from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some ancient interpretations of Hatshepsut can also be perceived as negative, such as those of Seti
I and Ramses II who deliberately excluded her from the King list under the presumption that he rule
was a threat to order. Also, Thutmose IIIs defacement of her monuments is thought to have been
done in the act of re establishing ma at and order, as it was believed that a female ruler ultimately
defied this natural balance and therefore male dominance had to be restored.
Other interpretations deduce Hatshepsut as a highly successful pharaoh whose reign significantly
contributed the prosperity and stability of Egypt at the time. Ineni, for example, was an official
under Hatshepsut who talked highly of her; she settled the affairs of the Two Lands...whose plans
are excellent, she who satisfies the two regions when she speaks . This quote demonstrates that
officials from her context believed that she was an effective and efficient ruler who had the
support of the official and peasant class. Modern day historians such as Callender, Tyldestry and
Redford also present a balanced, more positive view of Hatshepsut as a competent and effective
pharaoh who brought peace and prosperity to Egypt. J. Tyldesley, for example, names Hatshepsut as
the woman who led a stable government, had a successful trading mission, and maintained
impressive architectural advances in her building programs. She emphasises how rather than

Wrongful Convictions Of Innocent People Essay
Unfortunately, wrongful convictions of innocent people sometimes happen in the criminal justice
system. According to a new report from the University of Michigan Law School s National
Registry of Exonerations, 2015 set a record for the number of wrongly convicted Americans who
received justice; 149 people who were either declared innocent or cleared of their convictions or
guilty pleas. Many of them had already served long prison terms for crimes they did not commit
(Mencimer, 2016.)
There are many causes that can contribute to a wrongful conviction. Witness misidentification is the
most common cause; we know that the human mind is not like a tape recorder, and can make
mistakes. Forensic analysts presenting evidence that has little or no scientific basis, false
confessions by suspects during the interrogation process, government officials taking steps to
ensure that a suspect is convicted despite poor evidence, testimony by people with incentives to
testify, and poorly prepared lawyers are just some of the other causes that can result in a wrongful
conviction. The death penalty case of Cameron Todd Willingham, of Corsicana, Texas, is one that
experts now agree that the evidence proves he was wrongfully convicted. But unfortunately, he was
already put to death by lethal injection.

Billabong may diversify its production by foreign direct investments in the U.S. e.g. set up local
production plants. In case of appreciation in AUD against USD, the price competitiveness of
products would not be weakened as compared with local products. Flexible sourcing could be
applied to allow switch of production from one country to another. Learning from Stanley Black
Decker, Billabong could reduce its import to the U.S. and export more from the U.S. production
plant to other countries when USD depreciate against other currencies. This help to create long
term economic competitiveness in the U.S. market.
For diversification of market, a more balanced market distribution is recommended. The current
position of Billabong is highly dependent on the Americas segment with almost half of the
revenues. If the situation continues, trading in other segments cannot help if the Americas segment
fails. Revenues when diversify in different currencies could be better secured from the economic

Human Reproductive Cloning Should be Banned Essay
Human Reproductive Cloning Should be Banned
The issues concerning human reproductive cloning are shrouded in controversy, perhaps
overshadowing the true advantages of cloning technology. Therapeutic cloning, which is often
misunderstood as reproductive cloning, is less controversial than the latter as it does not involve
the creating of an individual being. Instead, vital stem cells are extracted from human embryos, in
order to generate tissues and organs for transplant.
The goal of this process is strictly to harvest stem cells, resulting in the creation of cloned organs ,
which can be used to treat heart disease, Alzheimer s, and cancer.
However, because reproductive cloning involves the creation of a specific being with ... Show more

. . concerns can be addressed when reproductive cloning has been shown to be safe in animals,
which it has not yet. (Paulson) The success rate by means of reproductive cloning remains pale in
comparison to natural procreation, and thus does not justify cloning as a form of procreation for the
time being. The current success rate for reproductive cloning stands at one or two viable offspring
per 100 experiments, and until the success rate drastically increases, cloning humans would be
potentially dangerous and unethical.
The dangers that arise from reproductive cloning are numerous, and are enough to validate the
banning of human reproductive cloning altogether. During mammalian reproductive cloning, a
large proportion of clones suffered from weakened immune systems, which greatly compromised
the animal s ability to fight off infection, disease, and other disorders. Animal experiments in
cloning all indicate that a cloned twin is at high risk of congenital defects, multiple health problems
and perhaps a greatly shortened life span. (Paulson) In addition, many of the offspring produced
through cloning suffer massive abnormalities, such as missing or deformed organs. Approximately
30% of offspring are diagnosed with large offspring syndrome and other debilitating conditions. In
fact, studies on reproductive cloning have shown that more than 90% of

The Differential of Citizenry in Ernest Hemmingway s Writing
For what are we born for if not to aid one another? (Hemingway). Throughout the various literary
masterpieces of author Earnest Hemingway, one key aspect, or the lack thereof, is best used to
characterize the numerous archetypes of Hemingway s novels; community value. While many of
Hemingway s best stories focus on the struggles of life, often times, it is through community
outreach that a protagonist is able to persevere. Enveloping readers within stories that range from
extreme greed to subtle humility, examples of exemplary social service are portrayed not only
numerous times, but as interval segments of Hemingway s novels. However, through three of
Hemingway s best literary works The Old Man and the Sea, To Have and Have Not, and For
Whom the Bell Tolls consequences of social duty are best exemplified. It is through varying values
of citizenry that each archetype from their respective novelcan be differentiated, as seen in times of
war, poverty, and the necessity to provide basic materials to those less fortunate. Set in the
duration of the Spanish civil war, For Whom the Bell Tolls presents the quintessential image of
community and benevolence; Robert Jordan. Leaving a comfortable life in America for one of a

Historical Accuracy Of Henry Iv Plays By Shakespeare
Name Instructor Course Date Historical Accuracy in Henry IV Plays by Shakespeare Research
shows that Shakespeare s historical plays do not offer good sources for accurate rendering of
historical events. The details of place of issues such as place, time, and personality are all
subject to a great deal of artistic license just as most of modern Hollywood movies about the
past. However, to some extent, Shakespeare did research his materials. Close analysis of his
famous works and plays indicate that Henry IV draws upon a surprising range of disparate
sources[CITATION Jam991 p 4 l 1033 ]. One of the most obvious sources for Henry IV plays is
Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland by Raphael Holinshed, the 1587 edition.
Holinshed style of history focuses on personalities and motivations of important historical
figures as well as much detail regarding Henry s IV tussle with Percy. Another important source
used by Shakespeare in historical plays was The Civil Wars between the Two Houses of
Lancaster and York by Samuel Daniel. The poems written by Daniel differ greatly from that of
Holinshed particularly on the emphasis on the Princes of Wales and the rivalry he had with
Hotspur. Shakespeare followed and used Daniel in portraying Hotspur as a much younger person
at the period of rebellion though history shows that he was older than King Henry IV was. Both
Daniel and Shakespeare use the battle of Shrewsbury as an occasion for the prince to prove his
valor as well martial

Synovial Joints
Synovial joints, also known as diarthroidal joints, are the most common and movable type in the
body. The presence of lubricating synovial fluid encapsulated by joint ligaments distinguishes this
type of joint from others within the body90. OA most commonly occurs within the weight bearing
synovial jointsincluding the hip and the knee, which is why obesity is such a major risk factor of
OA4. The synovial jointcan be broken down into four major components: articular cartilage,
synovium, joint cavity filled with synovial fluid, and joint capsule ligament (Figure 1a) 60,115.
Ultimately, articular cartilage and the synovial fluid are the main constituents that contribute to the
proper lubrication properties of healthy and OA synovial joints.

Overall, articular cartilage is a very dense structure, lacking blood vessels and nerves that are found

collagens, proteoglycans, aggrecan, and noncollagenous proteins such as fibronectins115,22. The
resulting osmotic pressure created within the wet and dry components of the ECM work in
harmony to support the mechanical forces applied to cartilage77. The water is retained in the ECM
by aggrecan, the primary structural proteoglycan which is based on a long hyaluronic acid

Benjamin Franklin Join Or Die Analysis
Originating in the 19th century, political cartoons are created and drawn as a means to deliver a
message. Whether it be about politics, events or social concerns, the artist is able to express
themselves creatively. The cartoons are not only meant to express the view of the creator but are
also open to interpretation. Most political cartoons have a biased point of view and uses rhetoric to
persuade its audience.
Benjamin Franklin created the first known American political cartoon, Join or Die . It was
originally published in the Pennsylvania Gazette, a newspaper owned and ran by Franklin. The
cartoon is a snake divided into eight sections representing the original colonies, below that is a

Dracula And The Female Sexuallity As Disease
Dracula and Carmilla Female Sexuallity as Disease
In the two classic gothic vampire tales, Carmilla and Dracula, both novels have similarities through
their displays of sexuality. Sexuallity isn t just displaying sexual intentions towards other people.
The two novels explore how vampirism represents female sexuality as a disease through different
means. In Carmilla, the character of Carmilla s vampirism is linked with disease because she has
bitten Laura, one of her many victims, and fed off of her. Through Carmilla s action of biting
Laura and displaying deep affection for her, Carmilla s female sexuality was linked to a disease. In
Dracula Mina and Lucy are two females who are both victims of vampirism and showcase how
vampirism is a disease. The novel explores how they deal with the effects of vampirism and how
the men in the novel treat vampirism. This essay explores, compares and contrasts Carmilla and
Dracula through their use of vampirism to represent female sexuality as an illness that affects the
women in the novels.
Carmilla is like a disease herself, showing up unexpectedly at Laura s home. When she met
Laura mist was used as a symbol of miasma, which represents the disease of vampirism and the
danger of Carmilla s arrival (116 Willis). Throughout the story, Carmilla represented herself as a
disease which spread around quickly, as the wife of a pig farmer and daughter of a forest ranger,
who are both part of the working class, have been killed off (116 Willis).

Rebeca In Annabel s Mistreatment Of Intersex
My first encounter with the term intersex was in the book Annabel. I had happened upon this
particular copy when I was stockpiling books from a Borders that was going out of business.
Getting around to reading it took awhile, but as soon as I started reading I was hooked staying up
most the night to finish. Annabel s story faded in and out of my memory, and I did not encounter
the term again until college. In my undergraduate Queer film class we viewed the film XXY
Viewing XXY rekindled my interest in intersex people. I searched the Internet trying to find more
intersex films to watch and was stunned to find that the list was less than 15 films short. Both was
among these films. With so much weight on these films metaphorical shoulders,... Show more

Doctors and medical literature unabashedly advocate misrepresentation, concealment of facts,
and outright lying by the parents (Chase 32). Rebeca had been told elaborate lies her entire life.
Her mother and father told her that she had a brother who died at a young age and that all record
of him had burned in a fire. Their lies begin to unravel when Rebeca is sent a photo album from
her great aunt Mica containing only pictures of Pedrito. The doctors had warned them that
Rebeca s new identity should not be threatened in any way. They move to a different country and
destroyed everything from Rebeca s old life. This is, again, eerily similar to Chase s story. In her
article she writes, Following doctors orders, my parents then changed my name, combed their
house to eliminate all traces of my existence as a boy (photographs, birthday cards, ect.),
changed my birth certificate, [and] moved to a different town (34). When Rebeca demands to
know why they had to operate her mother responds by ask, What people might have said if they
saw it [penis]? This makes it clear that the motivation behind the surgery was to escape social
ridicule rather than for Rebeca s health. Rebeca is again so infuriated by her mother s answers that
she imagines violently hurting her. This is typical of the rage felt by many intersex individuals
when they discover the lies they

  • 2. Comparisons of the Natural World Illiwa Baldwin CH 202.1305 Jeff Auer March 5 2012 Comparisons of the Natural World Up until the 17th Century, an understanding of the natural world and how it operates was very limited and the general consensus was that there was God, and all things were created by him in a hierarchical order that sustained the balance of man. Although these Gods varied between ethnicities and religions, the general idea of a creator is consistent. However, with the extent of experiences and experimentation of Galileo, Bacon and Newton, the world was able to explore a new realm of reality in scientific discovery and analysis. Although the works of Galileo, Bacon and Newton can be compared with each other in regard to the idea of experimentation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Francis Bacon is better known for his theories that man will better understand nature if he uses the mind as a tool rather than rely entirely on scientific discovery. It is Bacon that attempts to connect the science and understanding of the physical world with society. Bacon s Novum Organum lists a series of aphorisms by which man should abide by in order to attain a better understanding of the natural world. These aphorisms are a guide to accepting science as the entire truth of the natural world. His writings are peculiar because he lays down these guidelines and within them there seems to be a constant message that instructs doubt in scientific experimentation, where Bacon himself is a scientist that utilizes the use of experimentation and scientific method. Moreover, he outlines the four classes of idols that effect the thought and minds of man, I have assigned names, calling the first class Idols of the Tribe; the second, Idols of the cave; the third, Idols of the Marketplace; the fourth, Idols of the Theatre (TOM 29). The first idol describes the need for man to distort and discolor nature by enforcing his own nature upon it. This idol can be seen constantly throughout scientists research as they constantly draw their own conclusions upon constant experimentation, much like the works of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Speech On The Oppressed By Paulo Freire Mohamad Afiq Md Daud WR115 Conversation Plan In Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Paulo Freire describes about what the education system supposedly need to be. He critiques that the education during his era is almost as similar as dictatorship. In this style of education, teacher has the superiority over their students. The teacher is the one who know everything, while the students are considered to know nothing, and that is absolutely unfair towards the students because they do not have the chance to learning . Furthermore, based on Kirp s excerpt entitled Make School a Democracy , he reveals the solution towards the education system problem during Freire s era. The solution is also known as Escuela Nueva (New School) model. Hence, what do I realize is the education is a process of teaching and learning between the teacher and the students. An effective education system leads the students in becoming a person with a good thinking skills who able to understand the facts rather than memorizing it. Based on what I have read, I recognized that both Freire and Kirp have a similar main idea in fighting for the education rights. They suggest that education needs to be an interactive learning. Both teacher and students need to communicate by making discussion or sharing opinions; this theory is also called as problem posing education. For example, a teacher is posing a question for the students, and he or she has already prepared the answer; however, the students independently ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Impacts Of Cultural Tourism In Cuba, Cuban, Cuba Mindless, repetitive locals performing once sacred and revered ceremonies now on a daily basis is nothing tourists think about when they vacation to culturally preserved areas, yet this unintended cultural destruction is unfortunately the blatant truth. Due to recent travel restrictions lifted by President Barack Obama, Cubais now open to American citizens to vacation. Whether for the better or worse, new tourismwithin a previously undisturbed area such as Havana, Cuba, is liable to have significant effects on the social, economical, and environmental aspects of their culture. Past relations between the United States and Cuban government have been less than favorable. After the Cuban revolution, the island established a communist government, therefore angering the United States as they were fighting foreign wars in an attempt to end communism. In 1961, the United States severed relations with the island, and since then have restricted travel to and from Cuba. Recently, in 2015, President Barack Obama repealed the travel ban with Cuba, loosening up trade and tourism between the two countries, but not ending their communist ways. This newly accessible country now acts as a beacon to world travelers wanting to learn the ways of Cuban lifestyle. Cuban culture revolves around everything from the people s lifestyle, to the economy, to the natural ecosystem enveloping the island. This is called cultural tourism. This being said, this poses a number of new issues for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ivanhoe In everybody s life there is something that makes him strive for success. That something can be money, women, fame, or many other incentives.. To the medieval knights, victory renown and glory are the ambitions they strive for. Breaking a law in this code would be considered a disgrace, and would bring a dishonor that was worse than death itself. However, by applying the Code of Chivalry, the knights in the medieval time displayed certain character traits which would secure success and honor in both battle and morality. In the book Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott, a knight named Ivanhoe illustrates this by devoting his attention to keeping the rules of the Code of Chivalry, which consisted of love of adventure, integrity, and loyalty to the... Having a fear of disgrace shows the reader that having this motive can lead one on to success. br br People can learn a lesson not only about glory, but of bravery also. Besides glory, bravery is used throughout the novel also. An example of this is when Sir Brian de Bois Guilbert dies for Rebecca. Ivanhoe demonstrates bravery when he fights Brian to repay Rebecca for her care when he is hurt. He is also very brave when he fights for his Saxon image. Even though he is not a major character in this book, Robin Hood also shows bravery. He robs from the rich and gives to the poor which breaks certain parts in the Code of Chivalry. Through his actions, he fulfills part of the Code. He is brave and has a love of adventure in doing so, but his integrity and respect to the king is taken by his criminal actions. People can learn from these examples that sometimes being brave is not pretty. Both Sir Brian de Bois Guilbert and Robin Hood had to suffer consequences for being brave. br br Bravery is very important to knights. If they are not brave they are disgraced, which is something they fear the most. Ivanhoe s motto is Death is better than defeat, this shows his fear of disgrace. Structurally, this paper will begin by providing a concise summary of the values of Radical feminismto give clarification on the standpoint of this feminist position in analysis of the current event. Our popular understanding and legal approach to domestic violence has shifted dramatically throughout the years. There has been a shift from the private response, where domestic violence was considered a product of relationship dysfunction, to a fully public campaign in which the state takes the lead in combating domestic violence through arrest and prosecution of abusers. This shift, I have argued, reflects a radical feminist understanding of domestic violence as patriarchal force and was informed by earlier radical feminist theorizing on ... Made of bronze yet so full of life, the Spear Bearer is one of many ancient Greek sculptures surviving, as good as new, till this day. On the other side of the world stands the New York Kouros at the Metropolitan Museum, rigid and awkward, and all together unrealistic. However, Greek art, especially Greek sculptureand vase painting has not always portrayed the human body in such a perfect and idealistic way. Up until 500 BCE, Greek sculpture and statuary specifically were completely different to what is seen and defined as Greek sculpture today while Greek vase painting and other representations of the human body maintained their less realistic style. He argued against the existence of innate ideas, stating that humans have knowledge only of things which they directly experience. These claims have a major impact on his argument against the existence of miracles, and in this essay I will explain and critically evaluate this argument. In his discussion Of Miracles in Section X of An Enquiry concerning Human Understanding, Hume defines a miracle as a violation of the laws of nature and as a firm and unalterable experience has established these laws 1. Basically a miracle is something that happens which is contrary to what would happen given the structure of the universe. He also states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words he is saying that no matter how good or reliable a testimony may be, it can never as it were on the basis of experience be justified to accept that testimony over and against what stands as testimony against the miracle happening. The testimony happens to be the laws of nature themselves. In this sense it is clear that Hume is giving us a priori argument in Part 1 in that he is saying that miracles are contrary to reason. However I think it would be easier to accept this view if Hume had not previously discussed his Induction theory. In regard that he thought that for example that just because the sun has risen every day so far, it does not necessarily follow that the sun will rise tomorrow, we have no rational basis in believing it will. However in regard to miracles he tells us to base our decisions on past experiences, if it is unlikely it is less likely to be true. So in that sense we should also be able to say that based on our past experiences the sun will definitely rise tomorrow? Also if the sun was not to rise, surely that would be a miracle in the sense that it would be a violation of the laws of nature? And what is exactly a violation of natural laws? As technology in video games improves so does our ability to display larger more detailed graphics and images, leading to beautiful hand drawn and animated games such as Dark Stalkers (Capcom 1994) and Lori and the blind forest (Moon Studios 2015). I chose humanistic therapy because first, I like the idea of creating a relationship with your client to enhance their self worth. The humanistic approach is different than the psychodynamic approach because humanist tend to listen to what their patients have to say and the patient will direct where the therapysession will lead. However, a psychodynamic therapist already has a conversation thought out and he or she will determine where the therapy session will go. As a humanistic therapist, the main issues I need to discuss is her work life, attitudes towards friends or loved ones, and her inner thoughts. To start off, the first red flag that I see observing Maggie s case is her occupation. She is said to always strive for the best when it comes to being a medical resident. However, continuously doing work without having time for herself could be a real problem sanity wise. Furthermore, she has been with irritable and snippy to her coworkers especially her husband. If she continues this behavior she might lose a bond with her work colleagues and loved ones. Lastly, her personal thoughts about her performance or behavior could be draining on a person with depression. When these negative thoughts continue to circulate especially with her condition it could influence her to distance herself and probably push her to suicide. The humanistic approach would view and understand by looking at the person from a whole perspective, instead of a specific point of view shown through sessions by observing their behavior. Humanists view Maggie s depression as what is holding her back from becoming the best version of herself. Humanists would believe that Maggie s depression is a result of her inability to cope with personal circumstances or her inability to have balance in her life. Junk food isn t exactly available twenty four seven while students are in school. As stated by Rosenthal There really isn t a lot of opportunity for children to eat while their in school, or at least eat endlessly, compared to when their at home. As a result whether or not junk food is available to them in at school may not have much bearing on how much junk food they eat (6). For thousands of years, the workings of Hatshepsut have been subject to multiple interpretations, from both her time and the modern day. An evaluation of the effectiveness of her reign can be resolved from the reliability and validity of evidence presented today, both primary and secondary. In one respect, Hatshepsut is viewed as the female pharaoh who had a particularly unsuccessful reign that was devoid of any real achievements. Some ancient interpretations of Hatshepsut can also be perceived as negative, such as those of Seti I and Ramses II who deliberately excluded her from the King list under the presumption that he rule was a threat to order. Also, Thutmose IIIs defacement of her monuments is thought to have been done in the act of re establishing ma at and order, as it was believed that a female ruler ultimately defied this natural balance and therefore male dominance had to be restored. Other interpretations deduce Hatshepsut as a highly successful pharaoh whose reign significantly contributed the prosperity and stability of Egypt at the time. Ineni, for example, was an official under Hatshepsut who talked highly of her; she settled the affairs of the Two Lands...whose plans are excellent, she who satisfies the two regions when she speaks . This quote demonstrates that officials from her context believed that she was an effective and efficient ruler who had the support of the official and peasant class. Modern day historians such as Callender, Tyldestry and Redford also present a balanced, more positive view of Hatshepsut as a competent and effective pharaoh who brought peace and prosperity to Egypt. According to a new report from the University of Michigan Law School s National Registry of Exonerations, 2015 set a record for the number of wrongly convicted Americans who received justice; 149 people who were either declared innocent or cleared of their convictions or guilty pleas. Many of them had already served long prison terms for crimes they did not commit (Mencimer, 2016.) There are many causes that can contribute to a wrongful conviction. Witness misidentification is the most common cause; we know that the human mind is not like a tape recorder, and can make mistakes. Forensic analysts presenting evidence that has little or no scientific basis, false confessions by suspects during the interrogation process, government officials taking steps to ensure that a suspect is convicted despite poor evidence, testimony by people with incentives to testify, and poorly prepared lawyers are just some of the other causes that can result in a wrongful conviction. The death penalty case of Cameron Todd Willingham, of Corsicana, Texas, is one that experts now agree that the evidence proves he was wrongfully convicted. Human Reproductive Cloning Should be Banned Essay Human Reproductive Cloning Should be Banned The issues concerning human reproductive cloning are shrouded in controversy, perhaps overshadowing the true advantages of cloning technology. Therapeutic cloning, which is often misunderstood as reproductive cloning, is less controversial than the latter as it does not involve the creating of an individual being. Instead, vital stem cells are extracted from human embryos, in order to generate tissues and organs for transplant. The goal of this process is strictly to harvest stem cells, resulting in the creation of cloned organs , which can be used to treat heart disease, Alzheimer s, and cancer. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... . . concerns can be addressed when reproductive cloning has been shown to be safe in animals, which it has not yet. (Paulson) The success rate by means of reproductive cloning remains pale in comparison to natural procreation, and thus does not justify cloning as a form of procreation for the time being. The current success rate for reproductive cloning stands at one or two viable offspring per 100 experiments, and until the success rate drastically increases, cloning humans would be potentially dangerous and unethical. The dangers that arise from reproductive cloning are numerous, and are enough to validate the banning of human reproductive cloning altogether. During mammalian reproductive cloning, a large proportion of clones suffered from weakened immune systems, which greatly compromised the animal s ability to fight off infection, disease, and other disorders. Animal experiments in cloning all indicate that a cloned twin is at high risk of congenital defects, multiple health problems and perhaps a greatly shortened life span. Throughout the various literary masterpieces of author Earnest Hemingway, one key aspect, or the lack thereof, is best used to characterize the numerous archetypes of Hemingway s novels; community value. While many of Hemingway s best stories focus on the struggles of life, often times, it is through community outreach that a protagonist is able to persevere. Enveloping readers within stories that range from extreme greed to subtle humility, examples of exemplary social service are portrayed not only numerous times, but as interval segments of Hemingway s novels. However, through three of Hemingway s best literary works The Old Man and the Sea, To Have and Have Not, and For Whom the Bell Tolls consequences of social duty are best exemplified. It is through varying values of citizenry that each archetype from their respective novelcan be differentiated, as seen in times of war, poverty, and the necessity to provide basic materials to those less fortunate. Historical Accuracy Of Henry Iv Plays By Shakespeare Name Instructor Course Date Historical Accuracy in Henry IV Plays by Shakespeare Research shows that Shakespeare s historical plays do not offer good sources for accurate rendering of historical events. The details of place of issues such as place, time, and personality are all subject to a great deal of artistic license just as most of modern Hollywood movies about the past. However, to some extent, Shakespeare did research his materials. Close analysis of his famous works and plays indicate that Henry IV draws upon a surprising range of disparate sources[CITATION Jam991 p 4 l 1033 ]. One of the most obvious sources for Henry IV plays is Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland by Raphael Holinshed, the 1587 edition. Holinshed style of history focuses on personalities and motivations of important historical figures as well as much detail regarding Henry s IV tussle with Percy. Another important source used by Shakespeare in historical plays was The Civil Wars between the Two Houses of Lancaster and York by Samuel Daniel. The poems written by Daniel differ greatly from that of Holinshed particularly on the emphasis on the Princes of Wales and the rivalry he had with Hotspur. Shakespeare followed and used Daniel in portraying Hotspur as a much younger person at the period of rebellion though history shows that he was older than King Henry IV was. Dracula And The Female Sexuallity As Disease Dracula and Carmilla Female Sexuallity as Disease In the two classic gothic vampire tales, Carmilla and Dracula, both novels have similarities through their displays of sexuality. Sexuallity isn t just displaying sexual intentions towards other people. The two novels explore how vampirism represents female sexuality as a disease through different means. In Carmilla, the character of Carmilla s vampirism is linked with disease because she has bitten Laura, one of her many victims, and fed off of her. Through Carmilla s action of biting Laura and displaying deep affection for her, Carmilla s female sexuality was linked to a disease.
