How Do You Write A Compare And Contrast
Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of writing a compare and contrast essay is a challenging
endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the technical aspects of structuring the essay but also in
the intellectual demand of comparing and contrasting two or more subjects. To begin with, one
must possess a deep understanding of the chosen topics, as well as the ability to identify
meaningful similarities and differences between them. This requires thorough research, critical
thinking, and analytical skills.
The process of organizing thoughts and presenting them coherently poses another layer of
complexity. Developing a well-structured thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the
comparison and contrast is crucial. Moreover, seamlessly transitioning between points and
maintaining a logical flow throughout the essay demands a high level of writing proficiency. It's
a delicate balancing act between highlighting similarities and differences without sounding
repetitive or disjointed.
Additionally, ensuring that each aspect is adequately explored and supported with evidence
further adds to the difficulty. A nuanced understanding of the subjects and the ability to
synthesize information is essential. Citation and referencing also play a pivotal role in
establishing the credibility of the essay.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to striking a balance between objective analysis and personal
interpretation. The essay should not merely list facts but also offer insightful commentary on the
significance of the identified similarities and differences. This requires a mastery of language
and the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
In conclusion, composing a compare and contrast essay is an intricate task that demands a
combination of research, critical thinking, organizational skills, and eloquent expression.
Navigating through these challenges requires dedication, time, and a commitment to delivering a
thought-provoking piece. However, for those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that similar

Genetic Manipulation
It should remain illegal in most cases for genetic manipulation to be used in
choosing a baby s gender. Many parents have a preference for the sex of their baby.
This can be for several reasons: there could be a genetic disorder passed down
through a specific sex that parents want to avoid; the family might already have
children of one sex and want to balance out the family. However, unless the parents
have received prior approval, it is currently illegal to genetically manipulate an
embryo, unless there is a legitimate medical reason. An embryo s sex is determined
by a sperm s chromosome: female sperm have an X chromosome, while male sperm
have a Y chromosome. The most common and easiest method to produce a specific
sex is called in vitro... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would either mean that paying for the service would be extremely expensive,
or it would be included in healthcare. If the cost was to be directly paid for by the
family, there would be a huge gap created between those who could buy the service
and those who couldn t afford it. Wealthy families would be able to get their choice
of their child s gender and be able to ensure that no genetic disorders would be
passed down to their child. This is incredibly unfair to families which can t afford
this; having the risk of illnesses while others don t is extremely unethical. The
easiest way to fix this issue would be to have genetic manipulation of embryos
become included for free in health care. This would mean money would be taken
from other, more important areas that money could be used such as education and
other health care areas. Some areas already struggle with funding, so other
additions which take more funding, even a slight amount, are unwelcome. While in
some cases genetic manipulations of embryos can be useful in a medical sense,
most possible scenarios would have negative repercussions. The legalization of all
embryo modifications would have some positive effects, such as minimizing the
possibility of genetic disorders, but the upsides don t make up for all the downsides
that would occur. It is for this reason that this modification should only be allowed in
specific, medically approved
Making A Change For A Better Process
Making a Change for a Better Process Healthcare is under constant reassessment
because of daily innovation. With this assessment comes the realization that one
process has better outcomes than another indicating the need for change and change.
Since change is only as good as the planning that goes into it leaders in nursing must
be prepared to manage change properly and effectively. The purpose of this paper is
to identify an inefficiency in an organization and develop a change management plan
in accordance with the organization s mission, vision, and values. This change is
based on principles from Lewin s theory of change and diffusion of innovationwith
clear steps to follow involving all of those affected by the change.
Identified Problem While teaching the medical surgical internship several new
graduates expressed concerns about a behavior on the unit that led them to
question the specifics of scope of practice. Specifically, electronic order entry has
emphasized the problem that physicians have been asking that telephone and verbal
orders be used as an alternative to directly entering orders. Doctors would tell the
nurse in person to order a lab or medication for a patient as opposed to writing it in
the chart or directly entering the order into the system. Some nurses may not see
issues with this practice, but the truth is that this practice greatly increases the
likelihood of errors for the patient. In a systematic review Nuckols et al. (2014) even

Isaac Asimov I Robot Quotes
The book I, Robot is a fictional story written by Isaac Asimov. It was first published
on December 2nd, 1950, but it is still a famous classic read today. In the following
two paragraphs, I want to relate two quotes from the novel to a personal
connection as well as a text to text connection respectfully. Let s start with the text
to text connection. In the beginning of the novel where my first quotation is found,
we are introduced to Gloria, an innocent child, and Robbie the robot, who was
Gloria s best buddy and caregiver. During the beginning of the novel, Gloria was
furious that her mother correlated Robbie to a machine, as Gloria thought the
contrary to her mother. She believed that he was a person just like you and me and
he was [her] friend (Asimov 28), and while robots are not human and are not made
of flesh and blood, Gloria believed that the robots are capable of feeling and
interacting with humans just as if humans were interacting... Show more content on

In Black + White = Black by Lawrence Hill, Hill explains the segregation between
Blacks and Whites and how Whites didn t treat Blacks as people because of their
colour. This is similar to how Gloria s mother does not treat robots as humans, but
rather as a nasty old machine (Asimov 28), and this shows how Gloria s mother and
Whites show no respect to the other species due to their own personal judgments and
beliefs, which are falsely created by themselves. Both represent isolation of a certain
species due to the mistrust, tension, and stereotypes they have between one another,
and both show that even though there is no valid reason as to why they should not
trust one another, there is still conflict between the Blacks and Whites nowadays in
all parts of the world just like there is conflict between Gloria s mother and the

The Rise And Fall Of The Democratic Republic Of
Madagascar
Madagascar is located off the coast of Southeast Africa. Madagascar was
previously ruled by the British and French during the 1800 s and 1900 s until
becoming independent in 1960. The Kingdom of Madagascar was ruled as
constitutional democracy following their independence until 2009 when their
president Marc Ravalomanana was forced to resign. The resignation of the
kingdoms president was a result of pressure from the military and started the
downfall of economic stability for the country. The Portuguese first came to the
island of Madagascar in the 1500 s and later became a French colony in 1869. The
island did not gain independence until 1960 and the same president ruled until 1972.
The country was renamed the Democratic Republic of Madagascar
Ways In Which Energy Intake Can Be Measured Analysis
Ways in which Energy Intake can be Measured:
The two types of energy intakes that are measured are calories and joules, with
calories being the imperial system and joules being the metric system. However,
these units are too small unit of energy, so therefore kilojoules and kilocalories are
used more regularly.
Calories and kilocalories are the same the only thing is that calories are multiplied by
1000 to create kilocalories. A caloriecan be shortened down to just Cal, whilst
kilocalories are shortened down to kcal. This works as it is measured in the change
of temperature, so 1 calorie is the energy required to heat 1 gram of water by 1oC
and then for kilocalories it is the same, the same can be said for kilocalories except it
is 1000 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that to burn fat stores you would have to break down the fats by doing
lower intensity training but for a more prolonged period of time, as oxygen is
needed to break it down. Finally, 1 gram of fat contains 9 kcal, which is more than
double of that of protein and carbohydrates.
Protein can also be an energy store even though it is not a preferred source of
energy, as it is usually used for the growth and repair of muscles. However, protein
can be used as a source of energy in prolonged periods of exercise and especially
near the end of endurances races, like in iron man competitions and marathons, as the
fat and carbohydrate stores within the muscles become low, so protein has to be used
as a last resort.
Calorimetry:
Calorimetry is a processed used to measure the amount of energy there is in a food,
where heat is produced depending upon how much energy is in the food. This
works by burning the food, which will create an exothermic reaction and will heat
the container of water, which will provide a measurement for the amount of energy
in each food. The calculation for this is for every 1oC of temperature change per
1ml of water, there is 1 calorie (Jennings [ONLINE]). There would be a similar from
of calorimetry used commercially just higher tech and that s how we get our
labelling of food packets.

The Lady Of Shalott Poem Analysis
These are some of the chosen lines of Alfred Lord Tennyson s from his poetic
work; I will start my claim to peruse my viewpoint by above mention reference
because it is relevant about the subject matter, in addition, these are from the poem
of The Lady of Shalott. Then the second thing is, it s about mythical LANDSCAPE
among Tennyson s finest achievements that symbolize states of human
consciousness; the dreamlike quality of his vision, combined with his ability to see
at close range with preternatural clarity and detail, rendered his dreams more vivid
than our realities. Ultimately it will get me to explore the THEMES of REALITY
and FANTASY from his poetic diction.
First, Tennyson starts out The Lady of Shalott with a quiet description... Show more

The entire poem is constructed in this way, often opting for words languid , driveth
galingale slumberous etc. that, especially when describing sleepy imagery, force the
reader to slow down and contain stresses that give the poem a form of hypnotic
rhythm, relating back to sleep and escapism. In addition to his use of phonetics and
rhythm, Tennyson includes various images that make the sleep state , and therefore
the state the Lotus eaters offer, more appealing. The charmed sunset linger d low ,
like downward smoke and than tir d eyelids upon tir d eyes are all examples that
possess connotations of laziness or sleep, and therefore makes a more attractive
option as opposed to the toil experienced by the rest of the world, enhancing the
desire for escape. as accomplishes this by contrasting the positive aspects of the
world of escapism with reality and its negativities.
In the end, to sum up, from the poem The Lady of Shalott Tennyson focused on
two main subjects the Lady s isolation in the tower as a fantasy and her decision to
participate in the living world as reality. If we search for the theme of Fantasy, it is
everywhere all over the poem as the whole subject matter has come from the
imaginative world of Celtic

The Four Gospels Of Matthew, Mark, And Luke
The canon brought the four gospels about, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
(Evangelists) . These four gospels paint a different picture of Christ and were
written for different audiences. Matthew, Mark and Luke are said to be very similar
to each other. But, there is things which are common to Matthew and Luke that aren t
seen in Mark. Matthew and Luke used another source which Mark didn t know about,
the Q source. John s gospelis quite different to the other three. He is shown as
someone who is very close to Jesusand a very reliable eyewitness (John 19:35).
Matthew s gospel was written in 85 AD for the Jewish Christians who were living
in Antioch, Syria. The audience of Matthew s gospel had tension between the
Gentiles, Jews and Jewish Christians. The main theme relates to how Jesus is
portrayed as a teacher due to the gospel having five sermons (5 7). His gospel
contains lots of parables and miracles which would aid him in his teachings. The
good news for the original audience in 1st century Palestine (the gospel) meant that
their Messiah that they believed in had come and they were all thrilled about it. ...

they had hope because they would be able to read the works of Jesus and everything

Tybalt As A Dynamic Character In Shakespeare s Romeo
And...
The Prince of Cats, as the Montagues and Capulets call him, cousin of Juliet whose
aggressive attitude leads him to a desired end. Romeo and Juliet is a tragic
romantic play written by William Shakespeare. The play takes place in the city of
Verona, where individuals are divided by a house, the Capulet and the Montague.
Juliet, daughter of Lord Capulet and Lady Capulet, falls in love with Romeo, who is
a part of the Montague house. Tybalt is a vengeful, aggressive, and an arrogant
sword fighter. He is a static character who exhibits those traits which affects the play
negatively. Tybalt s vengeful characteristic affects the play in a negative way. First,
during the ball that Lord Capulet arranged for Juliet, Tybalt became indignant that
Juliet was dancing with Romeo, a Montague. Second, Tybalt challenges Romeo to a
duel because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Interpretation Of Honor
There are multiple traits that truly demonstrate why I am qualified to be a Naval
officer, the first being honor. The word honor is a word so powerful that it resonates
through the minds of millions, even billions of people from multitudes of cultures
and generations from the past and present. Honor holds such a value in some cultures
that in the past, even committing a small dishonorable act could lead to death. By
modern standards my interpretation of honor relates largely to a person staying
committed and persevering through pain to maintain his honor. This is especially
true when discussing the military. I have had aspirations to join the military for more
than ten years now. I have always respected members of every single branch of this
A Study On New Guinea
New Guinea is located in Indonesia, which is situated between Asia and Australia.
Papua is a country which occupies the eastern half of New Guinea and is not a very
well explored country, geographically, or culturally. A small tribe of about 3000
people occupies a remote and rural part of the southeastern side of the island and
they are known as the Korowaitribe. The Korowai people were discovered in Papua
New Guineain 1974. This tribe along with many other tribes in Papua New Guinea
experience little to no contact with other tribes or outsiders. The Korowai tribe is
unique because they are one of the few tribes on Earth that are still believed to

The tall treehouses serve the purpose of protecting the children and women from

around the treehouses protect children. Yes, the Korowai people have practiced
cannibalism, according to anthropologists. Emily Payne, a publisher in the Daily
Mail, says anthropologists suspect that cannibalism is no longer practiced by the
Korowai clans, despite reports of it as recently as 2006 (Payne, 2015). A reporter
for the Smithsonian magazine named, Paul Raffaele, visited the Korowai tribe in
New Guinea to find the truth about their cannibalism. He reported that, today the
Korowai are among the very few tribes believed to eat human flesh. They live
about 100 miles inland from the Arafura Sea, which is where Michael Rockefeller,
a son of then New York governor Nelson Rockefeller, disappeared in 1961 while
collecting artifacts from another Papuan tribe; his body was never found. Most
Korowai still live with little knowledge of the world beyond their homelands and
frequently feud with one another. Some are said to kill and eat male witches they call
khakhua.
In other words, the Korowai practice cannibalism, not for fun, but
Ways to Prevent School Shootings
School shootings are terrifying to think about, but there are ways to help prevent
the massacres from ever happening again. The first known school shooting was at
the Texas Tower at the University of Texas in 1966 where Charles Whitman shot
and killed 16 people while injuring 31 others. Who would have known since that
date that we would have more then 200 deaths on school campuses? The most
storied shooting in the 90 s was probably the Columbine massacre where on April
20, 1999 Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris killed 32 students and faculty before
turning the guns on themselves. The horror scene from the day will always be

Noticing some early warning signs and not being scared to report them can help
someone from making the biggest mistake of their life and saving people from
harms way should start with the love shown from the parents. Having the parents
be in the kids life knowing his or her surroundings at all time can be the key for
prevention. Showing our kids love and attention will not make them want to do
harm to others and having your child talk to you if something is bothering them.
When you aren t in the child s life and not knowing what s going on with them
could easily make them feel lost inside and can turn to depression like our parents
don t care about them, a key fact is no matter how busy our lives with our job and
anything else that we might do in our spare time parents should always find time
to spend with our child each day, even if its only for a half hour, each time that we
show love can be a key for our child not to do the unthinkable. The key facts from
kids that do the shooting is a lot of times from being bullied at school or make fun
of that will keep there anger all bottled up inside until one day the anger explodes
and the worst scenario happens and that is a school shooting. Parents should also talk
to their child to let them know not to be scared to report things that might seem out
of the ordinary. Kids should always report to authority or a teacher
Englishmen and Colonization in the Seventeenth Century
Essay
Perception, understanding and judgment of humankind were far backward in the
sixteenth century. The English Empire was a huge colonial power in that era. They
were discovering the places that have never touched by so called fair skinned
people. English voyagers were able to reach the shores of West Africa after 1550.
Until seventeenth century English colonials did not develop a slave trade. These
small number of people set up an organized settlement in the foreign land. They were
also able to keep their own laws and language. At Kormantin in 1631 Englishmen had
their first settlement in Africa. According to Jordan, it was the meeting of

African man meant a black man to English invaders. They described Negroes as
black. These northern people were specialist about defining people. They simply
emphasized the difference of complexion. Being other than white skin should have
meant sign of inferiority. Literature of antiquity and the Middle Ages actually
offered introduction to the Ethiope. Englishmen were acquainted with black
skinned people before than sixteenth century. Native West Africans hit the ground
of London in 1554. Five Negroes were taken to English land to learn the language
and brought back to use in trade. Negroes were described as able to agree with
meateas and drinkes however, those black skinned people did not enjoy the cold
and moist air. Racial identity contains lots of meaning. It is more than a describing
the fact of complexion. It is far more than stating the color of people. It has a deep
meaning. In England, the concept of blackness had an intense meaning. According
to Oxford English Dictionary, the meaning of black before the sixteenth century
included, deeply stained with dirt; soiled, dirty, foul, horrible, wicked... It was a
symbol of baseness and color of evil. Black color roughly reminded people
undesired bad things and manners. On the other hand there was the other color, the
contrary one. It was the white color. White color was defined as a symbol of all
superior things. These colors were opposite, they were described as white and black
like sweet and sour. White and
The Theory Of The Birth Territory Theory Essay
The theory I selected to apply to the above situation is the Birth Territory theory. This
theory was created from empirical data collected by the authors who serve as both
midwives and researchers. It has a critical post structural feminist undertone and
elaborates on the ideas of Michel Foucault. The Birth Territory theory predicts and
elaborates on the relationships between jurisdiction (use of authority and influence),
terrain (the birthing environment), and personal emotional and physiological
experience by the mother. This nurse midwifery theory was chosen because both of
the major concepts directly correlate with the incident and are critical aspects of labor
and delivery situations. MAYBE ELABORATE A diagram of the Birth Territory
theory can be seen in Appendix A. Key concepts included in this theory are terrain
and jurisdiction. Sub concepts listed under terrain include surveillance room and
sanctum . Sub concepts listed under jurisdiction include midwifery guardianship ,
integrative power , midwifery domination , and disintegrative power . Terrain
signifies the aspects of the birth environment. These include physical and
geographical features such as the birthing furniture, as labor and birthing accessories,
and personal support systems (birthing partner). Terrain includes two sub concepts:
sanctum and surveillance room . A sanctum is a homely birthing environment
optimally designed to promote a private, healthy labor and birth. Amenities included

The Renaissance, a time period of art, dancing, and color. This time period was very
beautiful and artistic, now let s focus more on the art. This paper is about the rise of
painters, types of paintings, and a famous painter Leonardo da Vinci.
***** The rise of painters started to grow gradually. It all started out with the Italian
artist seeing themselves as reawakening to the classic Rome orders, and traditions of
art and writing. This time period (which was about 13th and 14th centuries and took
place during Italy.) was known as the proto renaissance. Many artists had started to

Singlehood, Cohabitation, And Dating
This chapter reviews of the role of singlehood, friendship, cohabitation, and dating.
There are four categories which describe a single person, they are: involuntary
temporary, involuntary stable, voluntary temporary, and voluntary stable. Friendship
is important, it provides socialization, companionship, and is also, good for your
health. Although, it differs among social classes. Cohabiting has changed over the
years, as with everything. There are traditional and nontraditional values among
singles and living together. Traditionally, prior to the Industrial Revolution, dating,
courtship, and mate selection were very different and generally over seen by the
parents of the daughter. Later, after the Industrial Revolution, adolescence was given

Although, many still marry inside their own race, there has been an increase in
interracial marriages. The ratio among white males and females are almost equal.
But, there are many single black women, then men. The reasons many black men
are taken out of this equation are high incarcerations, crimes, and deaths from
illness among black men (Seccombe, 2012, p. 84). Technology, mainly dating
sites, have affected the way society is dating. In 1990, only 1% of adults admitted
to using online dating. Now, online dating has blown up and become a social norm
for meeting a possible connection in the dating world. There are more than one
million members which make it easier to find a possible match or fling. Whether, it
is dating or friendship, there are many risks to online dating, which include
misrepresentation, lying, and stealing of personal identity (Seccombe, 2012, p. 85).
The working class tend to have longer friendships than the middle or upper class is
something new I learned in this chapter. Since the working class tend to not relocate
geographically, friendships typically persist well into adulthood. This friendship
allows them to become closer and more intimate with each other. Therefore, the
middle and upper class tend to relocate and have more mobility. Some may continue
to be friends with each other over phones and emails, But, they are lacking in
closeness, unlike the working
Essay on My Lai Massacre
My Lai Massacre Soldiers are trained to always follow orders, and to never question
orders. But that belief is somewhat illogical. Soldier s are to obey any lawful order
given. But the training involved, the often chaotic nature of battle, and the need to
follow authority to maintain survival can lead to a very blurred vision of what is
right or wrong. One s animalistic instincts may take over. Sometimes there are such
situations when you ve stepped over the line. Such as the horrendous act that took
place on March 16, 1968 in the village of Son My. The Quang Ngai Province, more

Company became demoralized as they lost nearly one third of their troop in two
months. Many in the company had given in to an easy pattern of violence.
Prisoners were systematically beaten, unarmed civilians sometimes murdered,
whole villages burned, and wells poisoned. Rapes were not uncommon. Many
military leaders encouraged and rewarded kills in an effort to produce impressive
body counts that could be reported to Saigon as an indication of progress. On
March 16, 1968. Charlie Company was ordered to enter the Hamlet of My Lai to

The Effects Of Advertising On Today s Culture
Advertisements are everywhere today. Author James Twitchell says, Adcult is there
when we blink, it s there when we listen, it s there when we touch, it s even there to
be smelled in scent strips when we open a magazine. There are thousands of products
being advertised every minute, and they are being promoted in all sorts of ways. One
could see advertisements on television, on a billboard, on the internet, or hear about
something on the radio. With advertisingall around, it has to have an effect on the
people seeing it and hearing it. Advertisement has several negative effects on today
s culture, such as it promotes conformity, affects one s self image, and manipulates
how people buy. People may not even realize that advertising has these effects on
them. That is how acclimated people have become to it. One effect that
advertisement has on today s culture is that it promotes conformity. Advertising is
supposed to encourage choice, however most companies advertise in order to
convince people to buy their product and only theirs. That is the opposite of
choice. For instance, Coke and Pepsi are two of the biggest rivals in the drink
industry today. Coke is advertised everywhere. It is seen more often than Pepsi,
and people may not realize, but that is a way of promoting conformity because the
goal of placing the Coke brand everywhere is to get people to drink Coke and not
Pepsi. Another instance may be the use of makeup by men. When someone thinks of
makeup he or she

In conclusion, the Walt Disney Company provides families across America and
around the world with quality entertainment for every member in the family. The
culture of the Walt Disney Company includes six main values that makes Disney
stand out; 1) innovation, 2) quality, 3) community, 4) storytelling, 5) optimism, and
6) decency (Culture, n.d.). Along with the culture making the Disney Company
successful, the company s ability to communicate also helps to make the successful.
According to the article Working their Magic: Disney Culture molds happy
employees , Disney strongly believes extensive communication is key to a satisfied
workforce (2003). The way that the company handles communication plays right into
the company s culture because it helps the cast members to put their best efforts
forward when it comes to innovation, quality, community, storytelling, optimism, and
decency. Even though the Walt Disney Company strives to have good
communication, there is always a chance for some kind of conflict to arise. Conflict
of interest is one example of a conflict that can arise in the company. The Walt Disney
Company can use these conflicts to improve communication within and among
groups by using them as examples for future references.

Theth Of Elizabeth At Tilbury
This primary source, is a historical text, a transcription of a speech by Elizabeth I,
Queen of England, in fact, there are at least two main versions of this important
speech. To understand the importance of the speech we must remember that at that
time England and Spain have been with intermittent conflicts. At this period Spain,
that was ruled by Philip II and England was ruled by Elizabeth I. The relations
between Elizabeth I and Philip II had always been tough, with a lot of
disagreements: political, economic and religious. Philip had even prepared
England invasion since the beginning of his reign, we know that by 1574 he had
already prepared a flee composed by 300 boats and around 30.000 men in Santander,
under Pedro Menendez de AvilГ©s but the plague were even AvilГ©s died ruined his

In an article, Susan Trye, University of Wyoming, describes what she calls the The
myth of Elizabeth at Tilbury , she quotes some writers who had studied Elizabeth s
biography. A steel corselet was found for her to wear and a helmet with white
plumes was given to a page to carry. Bareheaded, the Queen mounted the white
horse. The Earl of Ormonde carried the sword of state before her, Leicester walked
at the horse s bridle, and the page with the helmet came behind, writes Elizabeth
Jenkins in a biography of the 1950s. She rode through their ranks on a huge white
warhorse, armed like a queen out of antiquemythology in a silver cuirass and silver
truncheon. Her gown was white velvet, and there were plumes in her hair like those
that waved from the helmets of the mounted soldiers. (Carolly Erickson s version of
the 1980s). By what she mentions this version is from a letter written by Dr Leonel
Sharp to the Duke of Buckingham in 1623/1624 as he recalled Elizabeth I s famous

In conclusion we notice that the tradition analysis will focus only to solve the

Question 2 The main aim of using the system thanking is by enable us to analyze

2 A system does something: any system have same thing to do to achieve their task,
this process is called output or transformed it may be tangible or in intangible for
example the hospital intangible output which is the health of the patients.
3 System have a boundary and an environment: In order to know what are located
within the system we must set boundary to the system which represent the degree of
interaction between elements, Everything that does not fall within the circle of the
system that is, outside its borders is the environment surrounding it, for example

Oral History In Canada
The use of audio records for this project is significantly important as audio records
allows people to heard the voices of those who are not heard, in this specific case,
it is the voices of immigrants that are heard. Often, there is a general belief that
people come to Canada for a better life, which is true. However, people also assume
that immigrants instantly have a better life in an economic and social way, which is
not true. This is why oral history is important in this situation. Oral history will allow
immigrants to share their personal experience with immigration and new life in
Canada. This will allow the providing of a new perspective on immigration and even
contradict the general beliefs on immigrations thanks to the use of oral history....

Literary Analysis Of The Outsiders
The Outsiders Literary Analysis Are things really rough all over? S.E. Hinton
shows in her young adult novel The Outsiders that people s prejudice leads to
violence and oppression. S.E. Hinton shows this through events that take place and
the characters such as Ponyboy, Johnny, Dally and others. In the book The
Outsiders, Ponyboy lives with his two brothers Sodapop and Darry. His parents
died when he was young. Ponyboy enjoys reading and going to see movies. He was
walking back from the movies and got jumped. Johnny has also been jumped in the
past. Hinton shows the theme that, prejudice leads to wrong conclusions, violence
and oppression. through the characters, plot events, symbols and theme of The
Outsiders The definition of theme is the message the author conveys to reader.
The theme is that there is prejudice between the gangs, like the rumble in the end of
the book. Randy says this when he and Ponyboy are talking in the car Greasers will
still be greasers and Socs will still be Socs. ... (pg.117) This quote is showing that
you are who you are, and there is not much you can do to change it. Another quote
from The Outsiders is Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold. ... (pg.148) Johnny says this
when he is sick and dying in the hospital in chapter nine. When Johnny says this he
is referring to the poem Nothing gold can stay by Robert Frost. Johnny is saying
nothing good can stay forever. The definition of symbolism is a figure of speech

Coaches are able to work with students and change their lives. In my career I have
coached many young students, but the one thing that puzzled me was the barriers
causing some students not to participate. What are the barriers for students to not want
to participate in athletics or other physical activities? This was the question that I ask
myself when I look at some students that don t participate in sports. I understand that
sports are not for everyone in the student population, but why are some students so
hesitant to exercise? Some students are not participating in physical activates
because there are too many barriers for them. I started my research by doing an
online search for barriers to physical activity. After numerous searches I found a
website that featured many reasons people don t participate in physical activates.
The biggest break in my research was when I found an article titled Male
Adolescents Reasons for Participating in Physical Activity, Barriers to Participation,

variety of information about why male students choose to not participate in sports.
Through further research I was able to locate an article on why females choose not

b. Power of buyer
Buyer can have other alternatives buying from LEGO such as switching to Mega

c. Power of suppliers
We would consider the bargaining power of supplier to be low as the switching cost

d. Intensity of Rivalry
LEGO group is ranked number three in the market and the fixed cost of the toy
industry is high. The exit barrier for toy industry is also high as there might be no
buyer since most things are going digital nowadays. Therefore, intensity of rivalry is
high.
e. Threat of Substitute Products
The threat of substitute products is high as we can see that there are many other toys
available from electronic toys to playing in digital world.
From using the Porter s Five Forces framework, we can say that the industry faces
threat from buyers, competitors and substitute products. Attention should be place on
competitors and substitute products as they posed significant threat to the LEGO

Defining problems, objectives, and determining resources. It is important to also
look at the overarching problem with discussing the planning phase of the SDLC.
Problems are going to be established in the beginning so that there are clear
pathways to find a solution. Most of the time the project will be pre equipped with
the knowledge of the problems. It also is important to establish objectives.
Defining Objectives are the core of how the project flows smoothly. It is important
to understand that objectives need to be met to start to enable a new one. Many
times projects will fail due to skipping objectives. The results tend to make the IT
professionals start completely over. It is also important to determine resources that
are available to use. Many times the specialists are able to use previous diagrams,
software, and other systems to complete the new project. Projects tend to fix other
systems that already have been set in place. These can be resources to complete the
new project. Figuring out how to create a better product. During the planning phase it
is also a main goal to determine how to fix the problem by having a better product.
After planning, you have the option of developing a new system, improving the

how to create a better product. Many times it is important to understand quality, time,

To a certain extent I agree with Crooks statement. There are many dreams in this

George has desires for his future to reflect the beauty of his childhood.
Many of the characters admit to suffering from profound loneliness. George sets the
tone for these confessions early in the novella when he reminds Lennie that the life
of a ranch hand is among the loneliest of lives. Men like George who migrate from
farm to farm rarely have anyone to look to for companionship and protection.
As the story develops, Candy, Crooks, and Curley s wife all confess their deep
loneliness. The fact that they admit to complete strangers their fear of being cast off
shows their desperation. In a world without friends to confide in, strangers will have
to do. Each of these characters searches for a friend, someone to help them measure
the world, as Crooks says. In the end, however, companionship of his kind seems
unattainable. For George, the hope of such companionship dies with Lennie, and true
to his original estimation, he will go through life alone.
This novel brings to light that many people throughout their lives (during the 1930
s) want to live the American Dream, work towards something to reach their goal,
may it be owning a house or just simply a few acres of land they can call their own.
Although, for many it is still yet just another dream. But it s the hope and strive that
keeps people like George and Lennie together working towards their
The Tthoracic Spine
The thoracic spine encompasses the upper and middle back region. It joins the
cervical spine and extends down about five inches past the bottom of the shoulder
blades, where it connects with the lumbar spine.
There are 12 vertebra making up the thoracic spine. While the cervical spine is built
for flexibility (e.g. turning the head) and lumbar spine is built for power and
flexibility (e.g. lifting heavy objects, touching the toes), the thoracic spine is built for
stability and does not have the same flexibility. This stability plays an important role
in holding the body upright and providing protection for the vital organs in the chest.
The thoracic spine is an intricate construct of bones, muscles, spinal segments,

The aging process and general wear and tear can lead the cartilage in the facet joints
to become thin or even disappear or even produce an overgrowth of bone spurs and
enlargement of the joints. This can lead to swelling due to arthritis in the thoracic
spine and cause tenderness, pressure on the nerve, and limited range of motion. Facet
joint disorder can also result from osteoarthritis.
Vertebral fractures. Compression fractures are perhaps the most common form of
thoracic problems. While they can be caused by an accident, generally they are the
result of osteoporosis and the aging process usually occurring in the lower region of
the thoracic spine.
Kyphosis (hunchback). Poor posture or a deformity, such as ankylosing spondylitis

the upper back. Tumors putting pressure on the spine along with certain disease of

this option has a high level of risk, if successful, would implement a drastic change
to Kodak s strategy and overall performance for the good of company leaders,
employees, and stakeholders. The new CEO will be evaluated after one year by
leaders, employees, and stakeholders.
Option 2: Enter into a new aggressive market
Kodak currently has no position within the ink market. The ink business is a $45
billion a year sector that could regenerate Kodak s position in the printing sector.
The market for ink is dominated by HP, followed by Epson, Canon, and Lexmark.
Entering a complete new market may be beneficial in its current position. According
to Kodak, the greatest obstacle to printing at home is the cost of ink and supplies.
Kodak can develop a cost efficient solution that will be more appealing to consumers.
With the launch of this product, Kodak must focus on several sectors of business:

There are several terms in my essay that I want to explain first. Dialect is a form

of a language that is spoken in a particular area and that uses some of its own
words, grammar, and pronunciations. (Webster Dictionary) African American
Vernacular English(AAVE) was often called as Ebonics by Non linguists. The
languages and dialects are noble, which should not be separated by personal biased
thought about the race, color, region, religion. However, in 1997, a nation wide
debate about Ebonics took place, which made people aware of the Black English for
the first time. The fuse of that case was the Oakland, Calif. School board, which
claimed that Ebonics was a kind of genetically based language. When they used the
word genetically based , it means that the school separated the African American
students from the regular students in a biased way by genetically reason, which like
separate the black people and white people. The school even presented their program
and funds from the local government about the bilingual education for the Ebonics
students which intended to teach these English speaking students Standard English .
It showed that they didn t consider the Ebonics as a dialect of English, but a literally
separated language. The people in public made different reactions to that matter, in
addition, not only the linguists, but also the Ebonics speakers, the educators and
What Is Who s For The Game By Wilfred Owen

Wilfred Owen wrote one of the most famous WW1 poems, Dulce et decorum Est .
These famous words originate from Horace s Odes (Horace was a roman

to die in war was an honorable brave sacrifice for your country . This type of
thinking was common in the time supported by pro war propaganda from other
poets of this period. This extract from poet Jessie Pope s poem Who s for the

It could be argued that this is in contracts to Rupert Brooke s 1914 Poem The Soldier
, where Brooke deviated from the normal purpose of detailing a predicament by
remaining blissfully in state with the self proclaimed patriotic soldier.
The tone that Owen uses is of a negative outlook on war bitterness that was directed
at the people who were involved in the rallying of troops to take up the fight (via
propaganda) which he felt was not a truthful portrayal of the reality horrors of the

The poem deals with the cold reality of war, written by a soldier s first hand

Effect Of Anaerobic Respiration On Yeast
In this experiment, my group designed our own experiment in which we explored
anaerobic respiration using yeast by measuring the rate of fermentation and
examining the amount of carbon dioxide produced by active yeast. We did this by
obtaining one mole of sucrose, glucose, and fructose and testing their effects they had
on fermentation in a water and yeastmixture. Fermentation is more often referred to
as anaerobic respiration, which takes place in the absence of oxygen, and yeasts are
single celled fungi, often used in commercial bread and alcoholic beverage
production. Anaerobic respiration is helpful to the body because it helps produce
lactic acid in the muscles when exercising, and stops your body from overworking
itself. During alcoholic fermentation, cells break down glucoseto form ethanol and
carbon dioxide, as well as two ATP molecules. I hypothesized that if the same amount
of glucose, sucrose, and fructose are added to a solution, then the rate of fermentation
will increase, varying among the sugars. My null hypothesis stated if the same
amount of sucrose, glucose, and fructose is added to the solution, then no reaction
will occur. To start our experiment, we created our control that was filled with water
heated to sixty degrees Fahrenheit, then added a yeast packet to the water and mixed
the solution. Next, we acquired one mole of sucrose, glucose, and fructose. The
independent variables in our experiment included sucrose, glucose, and fructose,
while the
Why I Want To Be One Pokemon
Three Pokemon to choose from; that s how many there always are. My mother
and father always expected me to follow in their footsteps, and I always assumed I
would. As a 5 year old, I dreamed of that day, that fateful day when I would choose
the one partner who would always be beside me. My faithful companion who
would help me rise to great heights and who would make me famous. Which one
would it be? Did I want the reliability and support of a grass type? Or was I more
concerned about the brutal power of flame and the fire type? Or did I want
reliability and power in one Pokemon; I could power through battles with a water
type and I could also ride one wherever I needed to go. The possibilities were so
thrilling and I dreamed about it almost... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You have high hopes for that Charmander you decided on? Well good luck to you
when it finally becomes Charizard, because suddenly you are unauthorized to
battle with it. Why? Adults don t trust younger trainers with that powerful of a
Pokemon. So, if your Charmeleon decides it wants to be a big boy Pokemon, you
cannot release it from its Pokeball until you go to a designated area in town and
pass a test for a permit to battle with a Pokemon listed in the danger zone . And if
you haven t figured out what that means yet, it means that you have to either keep
a handbook around and check it every five seconds to make sure you aren t
violating that law, or you have to memorize every single Pokemon that is listed in
the danger zone, and there are a lot of them. Or you know, you can risk going to
Courage In The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls
As human beings, we live by our morals, outlining our ethical principles in
distinguishing what is right from what is wrong. Our morals define who we are as a
person, how we behave, how we communicate, and how we manage challenging
situations. As stated by President John F. Kennedy, a man does what he must in spite
of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures and that is
the basis of all human morality(225). In order to achieve and portray one s morals
and ethical principles regardless of the circumstances, a person must portray courage.
As Ernest Hemingway defined it, Grace under pressure (Kennedy 1). According to
the Merriam Webster dictionary, courage is the mental or moral strength to venture,
persevere, and withstand danger, fear or difficulty. In the Pulitzer Prizewinning book
Profiles in Courage, written on 1957 by John F. Kennedy, some of the greatest deeds
of political courage in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are discussed through
the accounts of the historical events that inspired such acts and the consequences of
those brave enough to carry them out. The author of the award winning memoir The
Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls, could not be considered a candidate for John F.
Kennedy s Profile in Courage Award because of the failure to fulfill of the
requirements of the award, the type of courage portrayed, and the limited sphere of
influence.
Since 1989, the Profile in Courage Award has been presented yearly by
Risk Factors For Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Risk Factors Major risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma include infection with
HBV or HCV, alcoholic liver disease, and most probably non alcoholic fatty liver
disease. Less common causes include hereditary hemochromatosis, alpha1 antitrypsin
deficiency, autoimmune hepatitis, some porphyrias, and Wilson s disease, aflatoxin
ingestion, exposure to inorganic arsenic through drinking water (Shamseddine et al.,
2009). The distribution of these risk factors among patients with hepatocellular
carcinoma is highly variable, depending on geographic region and race or ethnic
group (El Serag and Rudolph, 2007). Most of these risk factors lead to the formation
and progression of cirrhosis, which is present in 80 to 90% of patients with
hepatocellular carcinoma (Chen et al.,2009).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Markers of HCV infection are found in 80 to 90% of patients with hepatocellular
carcinoma in Japan, 44 to 66% in Italy, and 30 to 50% in the United States (El

hepatocellular carcinoma will continue to increase over the next two to three decades

The Labor Aspect of Human Trafficking Essay
Last semester in my Women Public Health class was revelation for me as a woman,
learning about the struggles that other women suffer around the world. The one
subject that caught my attention was the missing girls in China and India. Millions
of fetus or baby girls in these countries go missing yearly by different methods. The
subject of the missing girl s lead me to human trafficking(sex trafficking) into and
within China s own boarders, due to the shortage of women. Although there aren t
any available history journals for human trafficking and the subject of human
trafficking interests me. Human trafficking has different components such as force
labor, sex trafficking, and child trafficking, I will be looking at the labor history. The

The article the Old Labor History and the New: in search of an American working
class by David Brody discusses the recent change that the labor history had, which
up until recently the study of labor wasn t accepted. Brody points out the influx of
people of the working class and immigrant s background after the World War II it
started to be accepted. He also points out that the old labor was institution and the
new labor is looking at the people. During the late 1970s, both the LH and ILWC
journals were looking at the past labor history and their current one, for example,
German workers of Chicago during 1850 1910, British Syndicalism 1900 1914, and
many others. Brody clears why the journals are looking at the past labor from the
19th 18th centuries. Smith points out that more and more people were starting to
take interested in labor history and the symposium showed that to their community.
Although, during the late 1970s decade there wasn t much talk about human
trafficking or even slavery. Slavery or what we call today human trafficking during
this period, there wasn t, much discourse about it. Slavery has been present since the
beginning of time in our world history, although some parts of it hasn t been silenced,
but there may be some other parts that are, but it seem during the 70s there wasn t
much attention for it, they focus on class struggle,
Is The Unconscious Theory Applied In The Art Work Of
Dada
What is Freud’s unconscious theory and how is it applied in the art work of
Dada/ surrealist artists?
Sigmund Freud was a Jewish Austrian neurologist who founded the discipline of
psychoanalysis. Freud went on to develop theories about the unconscious mind. The
concept of the unconscious theory was central to Freud’s ideas of the human
mind. He first introduced his ideas around the unconscious theory when trying to
explain what happens to ideas that are repressed but remain in the mind.
In Freud’s original outline of the main principles to the theory, he believed
the mind was made up of 3 systems †the unconscious, preconscious, and the
conscious. The unconscious part of the mind is made up of hidden desires, impulses or

This suggests his childhood fear of sex has been repressed in the unconscious and is
coming through into his paintings through Freudian methods such as deep
symbolism, dream like landscapes and figures, and even slight use of humour. As
well as the use of sexual motifs, Dali has juxtaposed many objects in this painting
such as the stamen of the lily and the tongue of the lion, the locust over the human
mouth, the woman morphing into Dali’s face. This all suggests that Dali
was representing his hidden desires through the absurdity of the juxtaposition of these
objects. It was a way of expressing his unconscious as these objects have turned into
something strange and dreamlike; some of them improbably enlarged (the locust),
and some morphed into one another (the woman, Dali’s face and the lower
part of the man’s body).
Joan Miro, also a surrealist artist, created the art work ‘Catalan
Landscape’ in 1923 4. To Miro, surrealism was an artistic response to the
power of dreams and the unconscious mind, but was only a brief obsession.
Within the painting, the flat shapes and lines (mostly black or coloured) suggest the
subjects, sometimes quite cryptically. Because the subjects are not immediately
known as to what they mean or are this shows that Miro has been influenced by the
idea that

A lot of hospitals would be against it. Due to the fact that they rely on those patients
and the income they receive from them. Some people argue that if physician
assisted suicides were legalized that a lot of people would be tempted and would
most like to take that option. As a sort of easy way out of their situation. This in turn
would decrease the hospitals income, their equipment and possibly diminish their
staff. Once all that has happened the quality of healthcare will lower as well. Due to
outdated equipment and medicine, not enough staff to cover everybody. Also
hospital would start to greatly rely on more government funds, fundraisers and would
more than likely have to increase the prices for treatments. Which as of today, many
people can barely afford without insurance. Physicians could suffer as well through
pay cuts. Also after helping a patient with a suicide the physician could start to feel
great amounts of guilt. Which would affect his work and family life. The patients
family as well might start giving the physician grief and trouble. Just for doing his or
her job.
Literature Review
In order to euthanize a patient, Dr. Kevorkian had to brainstorm, and create an easy,
painless, and peaceful way to carry out this process. As the book Between the Dying
and the Dead (2006) states, In 1989, Dr. Kevorkian invented the Thanatron, which
translates from Greek to English as the Death Machine. In 1953, Kevorkian got his

How Do You Write A Compare And Contrast Essay

  • 1. How Do You Write A Compare And Contrast Essay Crafting an essay on the intricacies of writing a compare and contrast essay is a challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the technical aspects of structuring the essay but also in the intellectual demand of comparing and contrasting two or more subjects. To begin with, one must possess a deep understanding of the chosen topics, as well as the ability to identify meaningful similarities and differences between them. This requires thorough research, critical thinking, and analytical skills. The process of organizing thoughts and presenting them coherently poses another layer of complexity. Developing a well-structured thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the comparison and contrast is crucial. Moreover, seamlessly transitioning between points and maintaining a logical flow throughout the essay demands a high level of writing proficiency. It's a delicate balancing act between highlighting similarities and differences without sounding repetitive or disjointed. Additionally, ensuring that each aspect is adequately explored and supported with evidence further adds to the difficulty. A nuanced understanding of the subjects and the ability to synthesize information is essential. Citation and referencing also play a pivotal role in establishing the credibility of the essay. Furthermore, the challenge extends to striking a balance between objective analysis and personal interpretation. The essay should not merely list facts but also offer insightful commentary on the significance of the identified similarities and differences. This requires a mastery of language and the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner. In conclusion, composing a compare and contrast essay is an intricate task that demands a combination of research, critical thinking, organizational skills, and eloquent expression. Navigating through these challenges requires dedication, time, and a commitment to delivering a thought-provoking piece. • 2. Genetic Manipulation It should remain illegal in most cases for genetic manipulation to be used in choosing a baby s gender. Many parents have a preference for the sex of their baby. This can be for several reasons: there could be a genetic disorder passed down through a specific sex that parents want to avoid; the family might already have children of one sex and want to balance out the family. However, unless the parents have received prior approval, it is currently illegal to genetically manipulate an embryo, unless there is a legitimate medical reason. An embryo s sex is determined by a sperm s chromosome: female sperm have an X chromosome, while male sperm have a Y chromosome. The most common and easiest method to produce a specific sex is called in vitro... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would either mean that paying for the service would be extremely expensive, or it would be included in healthcare. If the cost was to be directly paid for by the family, there would be a huge gap created between those who could buy the service and those who couldn t afford it. Wealthy families would be able to get their choice of their child s gender and be able to ensure that no genetic disorders would be passed down to their child. This is incredibly unfair to families which can t afford this; having the risk of illnesses while others don t is extremely unethical. The easiest way to fix this issue would be to have genetic manipulation of embryos become included for free in health care. This would mean money would be taken from other, more important areas that money could be used such as education and other health care areas. Some areas already struggle with funding, so other additions which take more funding, even a slight amount, are unwelcome. While in some cases genetic manipulations of embryos can be useful in a medical sense, most possible scenarios would have negative repercussions. The legalization of all embryo modifications would have some positive effects, such as minimizing the possibility of genetic disorders, but the upsides don t make up for all the downsides that would occur. It is for this reason that this modification should only be allowed in specific, medically approved
  • 3. Making A Change For A Better Process Making a Change for a Better Process Healthcare is under constant reassessment because of daily innovation. With this assessment comes the realization that one process has better outcomes than another indicating the need for change and change. Since change is only as good as the planning that goes into it leaders in nursing must be prepared to manage change properly and effectively. The purpose of this paper is to identify an inefficiency in an organization and develop a change management plan in accordance with the organization s mission, vision, and values. This change is based on principles from Lewin s theory of change and diffusion of innovationwith clear steps to follow involving all of those affected by the change. Identified Problem While teaching the medical surgical internship several new graduates expressed concerns about a behavior on the unit that led them to question the specifics of scope of practice. Specifically, electronic order entry has emphasized the problem that physicians have been asking that telephone and verbal orders be used as an alternative to directly entering orders. Doctors would tell the nurse in person to order a lab or medication for a patient as opposed to writing it in the chart or directly entering the order into the system. Some nurses may not see issues with this practice, but the truth is that this practice greatly increases the likelihood of errors for the patient. In a systematic review Nuckols et al. (2014) even found that
  • 4. Isaac Asimov I Robot Quotes The book I, Robot is a fictional story written by Isaac Asimov. It was first published on December 2nd, 1950, but it is still a famous classic read today. In the following two paragraphs, I want to relate two quotes from the novel to a personal connection as well as a text to text connection respectfully. Let s start with the text to text connection. In the beginning of the novel where my first quotation is found, we are introduced to Gloria, an innocent child, and Robbie the robot, who was Gloria s best buddy and caregiver. During the beginning of the novel, Gloria was furious that her mother correlated Robbie to a machine, as Gloria thought the contrary to her mother. She believed that he was a person just like you and me and he was [her] friend (Asimov 28), and while robots are not human and are not made of flesh and blood, Gloria believed that the robots are capable of feeling and interacting with humans just as if humans were interacting... In Black + White = Black by Lawrence Hill, Hill explains the segregation between Blacks and Whites and how Whites didn t treat Blacks as people because of their colour. This is similar to how Gloria s mother does not treat robots as humans, but rather as a nasty old machine (Asimov 28), and this shows how Gloria s mother and Whites show no respect to the other species due to their own personal judgments and beliefs, which are falsely created by themselves. Both represent isolation of a certain species due to the mistrust, tension, and stereotypes they have between one another, and both show that even though there is no valid reason as to why they should not trust one another, there is still conflict between the Blacks and Whites nowadays in all parts of the world just like there is conflict between Gloria s mother and the

  • 7. Ways In Which Energy Intake Can Be Measured Analysis Ways in which Energy Intake can be Measured: The two types of energy intakes that are measured are calories and joules, with calories being the imperial system and joules being the metric system. However, these units are too small unit of energy, so therefore kilojoules and kilocalories are used more regularly. Calories and kilocalories are the same the only thing is that calories are multiplied by 1000 to create kilocalories. A caloriecan be shortened down to just Cal, whilst kilocalories are shortened down to kcal. This works as it is measured in the change of temperature, so 1 calorie is the energy required to heat 1 gram of water by 1oC and then for kilocalories it is the same, the same can be said for kilocalories except it is 1000 ... This means that to burn fat stores you would have to break down the fats by doing lower intensity training but for a more prolonged period of time, as oxygen is needed to break it down. Finally, 1 gram of fat contains 9 kcal, which is more than double of that of protein and carbohydrates. Protein can also be an energy store even though it is not a preferred source of energy, as it is usually used for the growth and repair of muscles. However, protein can be used as a source of energy in prolonged periods of exercise and especially near the end of endurances races, like in iron man competitions and marathons, as the fat and carbohydrate stores within the muscles become low, so protein has to be used as a last resort. Calorimetry: Calorimetry is a processed used to measure the amount of energy there is in a food, where heat is produced depending upon how much energy is in the food. This works by burning the food, which will create an exothermic reaction and will heat the container of water, which will provide a measurement for the amount of energy in each food. The calculation for this is for every 1oC of temperature change per 1ml of water, there is 1 calorie (Jennings [ONLINE]). There would be a similar from of calorimetry used commercially just higher tech and that s how we get our labelling of food packets. The Lady Of Shalott Poem Analysis These are some of the chosen lines of Alfred Lord Tennyson s from his poetic work; I will start my claim to peruse my viewpoint by above mention reference because it is relevant about the subject matter, in addition, these are from the poem of The Lady of Shalott. Then the second thing is, it s about mythical LANDSCAPE among Tennyson s finest achievements that symbolize states of human consciousness; the dreamlike quality of his vision, combined with his ability to see at close range with preternatural clarity and detail, rendered his dreams more vivid than our realities. Ultimately it will get me to explore the THEMES of REALITY and FANTASY from his poetic diction. First, Tennyson starts out The Lady of Shalott with a quiet description... The entire poem is constructed in this way, often opting for words languid , driveth galingale slumberous etc. that, especially when describing sleepy imagery, force the reader to slow down and contain stresses that give the poem a form of hypnotic rhythm, relating back to sleep and escapism. In addition to his use of phonetics and rhythm, Tennyson includes various images that make the sleep state , and therefore the state the Lotus eaters offer, more appealing. The charmed sunset linger d low , like downward smoke and than tir d eyelids upon tir d eyes are all examples that possess connotations of laziness or sleep, and therefore makes a more attractive option as opposed to the toil experienced by the rest of the world, enhancing the desire for escape. as accomplishes this by contrasting the positive aspects of the world of escapism with reality and its negativities. In the end, to sum up, from the poem The Lady of Shalott Tennyson focused on two main subjects the Lady s isolation in the tower as a fantasy and her decision to participate in the living world as reality. If we search for the theme of Fantasy, it is everywhere all over the poem as the whole subject matter has come from the imaginative world of Celtic

This theory was created from empirical data collected by the authors who serve as both midwives and researchers. It has a critical post structural feminist undertone and elaborates on the ideas of Michel Foucault. The Birth Territory theory predicts and elaborates on the relationships between jurisdiction (use of authority and influence), terrain (the birthing environment), and personal emotional and physiological experience by the mother. This nurse midwifery theory was chosen because both of the major concepts directly correlate with the incident and are critical aspects of labor and delivery situations. But the training involved, the often chaotic nature of battle, and the need to follow authority to maintain survival can lead to a very blurred vision of what is right or wrong. One s animalistic instincts may take over. Sometimes there are such situations when you ve stepped over the line. Such as the horrendous act that took place on March 16, 1968 in the village of Son My. A few weeks later on March fourteenth, a small squad from Charlie Company ran into another booby trap, this time killing a popular sergeant, blinding on GI, and wounding many others. The soldiers of Charlie Company became demoralized as they lost nearly one third of their troop in two months. Many in the company had given in to an easy pattern of violence. Prisoners were systematically beaten, unarmed civilians sometimes murdered, whole villages burned, and wells poisoned. Rapes were not uncommon. Many military leaders encouraged and rewarded kills in an effort to produce impressive body counts that could be reported to Saigon as an indication of progress. On March 16, 1968. Charlie Company was ordered to enter the Hamlet of My Lai to clear out the Viet Cong s forty eighth battalion that was believed to be in the vicinity. The soldier s mission would be to engage the forty eighth battalion and destroy the village of My Lai. The attack was to begin at seven thirty in the morning. Military leaders believed the women and children would be out of the village heading for the local market by this time, leaving only the Viet Cong. The soldiers were ordered to explode brick homes, set fires to thatch homes, shoot livestock, poison wells, and destroy the enemy. That plan was that Lieutenant Calley would come down from the

Author James Twitchell says, Adcult is there when we blink, it s there when we listen, it s there when we touch, it s even there to be smelled in scent strips when we open a magazine. There are thousands of products being advertised every minute, and they are being promoted in all sorts of ways. One could see advertisements on television, on a billboard, on the internet, or hear about something on the radio. With advertisingall around, it has to have an effect on the people seeing it and hearing it. Advertisement has several negative effects on today s culture, such as it promotes conformity, affects one s self image, and manipulates how people buy. People may not even realize that advertising has these effects on them. That is how acclimated people have become to it. One effect that advertisement has on today s culture is that it promotes conformity. Advertising is supposed to encourage choice, however most companies advertise in order to convince people to buy their product and only theirs. That is the opposite of choice. For instance, Coke and Pepsi are two of the biggest rivals in the drink industry today. Coke is advertised everywhere. It is seen more often than Pepsi, and people may not realize, but that is a way of promoting conformity because the goal of placing the Coke brand everywhere is to get people to drink Coke and not Pepsi. Another instance may be the use of makeup by men. When someone thinks of makeup he or she

It showed that they didn t consider the Ebonics as a dialect of English, but a literally separated language. The people in public made different reactions to that matter, in addition, not only the linguists, but also the Ebonics speakers, the educators and
  • 39. What Is Who s For The Game By Wilfred Owen Written Task 2 Wilfred Owen wrote one of the most famous WW1 poems, Dulce et decorum Est . These famous words originate from Horace s Odes (Horace was a roman philosopher poet). Words that were familiar at the time to Owen which meant that to die in war was an honorable brave sacrifice for your country . This type of thinking was common in the time supported by pro war propaganda from other poets of this period. This extract from poet Jessie Pope s poem Who s for the game? is an example; Who s for the game, the biggest that s played, The red crashing game of a fight? Who ll grip and tackle the job unafraid? And who thinks he d rather sit tight? (Pope) In contrast to Owen who was a serving soldier when he wrote his poetry, Pope ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It could be argued that this is in contracts to Rupert Brooke s 1914 Poem The Soldier , where Brooke deviated from the normal purpose of detailing a predicament by remaining blissfully in state with the self proclaimed patriotic soldier. The tone that Owen uses is of a negative outlook on war bitterness that was directed at the people who were involved in the rallying of troops to take up the fight (via propaganda) which he felt was not a truthful portrayal of the reality horrors of the war that would greet them on the Western front. Stanza 2 and 3 describe the death of his mask less comrade in the gas attack represents a prime example of his tone. In all my dreams, before my helpless sight. He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. (Owen15 16). The poem deals with the cold reality of war, written by a soldier s first hand experience on the Western Front, which deviated from other WW1 poets like Jessie

Effect Of Anaerobic Respiration On Yeast In this experiment, my group designed our own experiment in which we explored anaerobic respiration using yeast by measuring the rate of fermentation and examining the amount of carbon dioxide produced by active yeast. We did this by obtaining one mole of sucrose, glucose, and fructose and testing their effects they had on fermentation in a water and yeastmixture. Fermentation is more often referred to as anaerobic respiration, which takes place in the absence of oxygen, and yeasts are single celled fungi, often used in commercial bread and alcoholic beverage production. Anaerobic respiration is helpful to the body because it helps produce lactic acid in the muscles when exercising, and stops your body from overworking itself. During alcoholic fermentation, cells break down glucoseto form ethanol and carbon dioxide, as well as two ATP molecules. I hypothesized that if the same amount of glucose, sucrose, and fructose are added to a solution, then the rate of fermentation will increase, varying among the sugars. My null hypothesis stated if the same amount of sucrose, glucose, and fructose is added to the solution, then no reaction will occur. To start our experiment, we created our control that was filled with water heated to sixty degrees Fahrenheit, then added a yeast packet to the water and mixed the solution. Next, we acquired one mole of sucrose, glucose, and fructose. The independent variables in our experiment included sucrose, glucose, and fructose, while the

My mother and father always expected me to follow in their footsteps, and I always assumed I would. As a 5 year old, I dreamed of that day, that fateful day when I would choose the one partner who would always be beside me. My faithful companion who would help me rise to great heights and who would make me famous. Which one would it be? Did I want the reliability and support of a grass type? Or was I more concerned about the brutal power of flame and the fire type? Or did I want reliability and power in one Pokemon; I could power through battles with a water type and I could also ride one wherever I needed to go. • 42. Courage In The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls As human beings, we live by our morals, outlining our ethical principles in distinguishing what is right from what is wrong. Our morals define who we are as a person, how we behave, how we communicate, and how we manage challenging situations. As stated by President John F. Kennedy, a man does what he must in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures and that is the basis of all human morality(225). In order to achieve and portray one s morals and ethical principles regardless of the circumstances, a person must portray courage. As Ernest Hemingway defined it, Grace under pressure (Kennedy 1). According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, courage is the mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear or difficulty. In the Pulitzer Prizewinning book Profiles in Courage, written on 1957 by John F. Kennedy, some of the greatest deeds of political courage in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are discussed through the accounts of the historical events that inspired such acts and the consequences of those brave enough to carry them out. The author of the award winning memoir The Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls, could not be considered a candidate for John F. Kennedy s Profile in Courage Award because of the failure to fulfill of the requirements of the award, the type of courage portrayed, and the limited sphere of influence. Since 1989, the Profile in Courage Award has been presented yearly by
  • 43. Risk Factors For Hepatocellular Carcinoma Risk Factors Major risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma include infection with HBV or HCV, alcoholic liver disease, and most probably non alcoholic fatty liver disease. Less common causes include hereditary hemochromatosis, alpha1 antitrypsin deficiency, autoimmune hepatitis, some porphyrias, and Wilson s disease, aflatoxin ingestion, exposure to inorganic arsenic through drinking water (Shamseddine et al., 2009). The distribution of these risk factors among patients with hepatocellular carcinoma is highly variable, depending on geographic region and race or ethnic group (El Serag and Rudolph, 2007). Most of these risk factors lead to the formation and progression of cirrhosis, which is present in 80 to 90% of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (Chen et al.,2009).... The Labor Aspect of Human Trafficking Essay Last semester in my Women Public Health class was revelation for me as a woman, learning about the struggles that other women suffer around the world. The one subject that caught my attention was the missing girls in China and India. Millions of fetus or baby girls in these countries go missing yearly by different methods. The subject of the missing girl s lead me to human trafficking(sex trafficking) into and within China s own boarders, due to the shortage of women. Although there aren t any available history journals for human trafficking and the subject of human trafficking interests me. Human trafficking has different components such as force labor, sex trafficking, and child trafficking, I will be looking at the labor history. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The article the Old Labor History and the New: in search of an American working class by David Brody discusses the recent change that the labor history had, which up until recently the study of labor wasn t accepted. Brody points out the influx of people of the working class and immigrant s background after the World War II it started to be accepted. He also points out that the old labor was institution and the new labor is looking at the people. During the late 1970s, both the LH and ILWC journals were looking at the past labor history and their current one, for example, German workers of Chicago during 1850 1910, British Syndicalism 1900 1914, and many others. Brody clears why the journals are looking at the past labor from the 19th 18th centuries. Smith points out that more and more people were starting to take interested in labor history and the symposium showed that to their community. Although, during the late 1970s decade there wasn t much talk about human trafficking or even slavery. Slavery or what we call today human trafficking during this period, there wasn t, much discourse about it. Slavery has been present since the beginning of time in our world history, although some parts of it hasn t been silenced, but there may be some other parts that are, but it seem during the 70s there wasn t much attention for it, they focus on class struggle,
  • 45. Is The Unconscious Theory Applied In The Art Work Of Dada What is Freud’s unconscious theory and how is it applied in the art work of Dada/ surrealist artists? Sigmund Freud was a Jewish Austrian neurologist who founded the discipline of psychoanalysis. Freud went on to develop theories about the unconscious mind. The concept of the unconscious theory was central to Freud’s ideas of the human mind. He first introduced his ideas around the unconscious theory when trying to explain what happens to ideas that are repressed but remain in the mind. In Freud’s original outline of the main principles to the theory, he believed the mind was made up of 3 systems †the unconscious, preconscious, and the conscious. The unconscious part of the mind is made up of hidden desires, impulses or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This suggests his childhood fear of sex has been repressed in the unconscious and is coming through into his paintings through Freudian methods such as deep symbolism, dream like landscapes and figures, and even slight use of humour. As well as the use of sexual motifs, Dali has juxtaposed many objects in this painting such as the stamen of the lily and the tongue of the lion, the locust over the human mouth, the woman morphing into Dali’s face. This all suggests that Dali was representing his hidden desires through the absurdity of the juxtaposition of these objects. It was a way of expressing his unconscious as these objects have turned into something strange and dreamlike; some of them improbably enlarged (the locust), and some morphed into one another (the woman, Dali’s face and the lower part of the man’s body). Joan Miro, also a surrealist artist, created the art work ‘Catalan Landscape’ in 1923 4. To Miro, surrealism was an artistic response to the power of dreams and the unconscious mind, but was only a brief obsession. Within the painting, the flat shapes and lines (mostly black or coloured) suggest the subjects, sometimes quite cryptically. Because the subjects are not immediately known as to what they mean or are this shows that Miro has been influenced by the idea that

Some people argue that if physician assisted suicides were legalized that a lot of people would be tempted and would most like to take that option. As a sort of easy way out of their situation. This in turn would decrease the hospitals income, their equipment and possibly diminish their staff. Once all that has happened the quality of healthcare will lower as well. Due to outdated equipment and medicine, not enough staff to cover everybody. Also hospital would start to greatly rely on more government funds, fundraisers and would more than likely have to increase the prices for treatments. Which as of today, many people can barely afford without insurance. Physicians could suffer as well through pay cuts. Also after helping a patient with a suicide the physician could start to feel great amounts of guilt. Which would affect his work and family life. The patients family as well might start giving the physician grief and trouble. Just for doing his or her job. Literature Review In order to euthanize a patient, Dr. Kevorkian had to brainstorm, and create an easy, painless, and peaceful way to carry out this process. As the book Between the Dying and the Dead (2006) states, In 1989, Dr. Kevorkian invented the Thanatron, which translates from Greek to English as the Death Machine. In 1953, Kevorkian got his
