Net Neutrality Protest
Prior to yesterday s Net Neutrality protest, I have never been to a protest in real life, but have
scene several on the web, social media, or news. Usually, protests are loud, sometimes chaotic and
the people who are advocating the issue are chanting a phrase in unison. However, yesterday s
protest did not seem nothing like what I ve expected. Outside of the Verizon store, people were
holding up signs. The signs had phrases that indicated about Net Neutrality, such as FCC, Federal
Communications Commission, ISP, #netneutrality, #savethenet, and more. There was a lady that
were handing out fliers asking everyone passing by the Verizon store to spread the word within
these seven days. The flier had links and the number to call Congress, that

Essay On Design Should Be Formed Not Formed
ARCHITECTURE SHOULD BE INFORMAL NOT RIGID.
New structure and informal by Cecil Balmond talks about Continuous and crisscrossing space that
spirals upwards looks like a series of cubes that have been inset into one another such formation
produce new, chaotic spirals and the structure builds on itself and remains free within this
framework. Cecil Balmond had explored the different ways of creating and developing new forms
through careful discovery by new and innovative techniques such as structural solution for roofing,
overlapping of points for roofing and rotating disc Balmond explores the idea of a generic pattern in
the tilling of the walls that transports into the structure from ornamentation to substance.
Expansion of a pattern that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fixed form that is copy nature directly becomes forced. Balmond states that instead that one
should see what needs to occur is a change in paradigm: acceptance of risk, and the building of
internal processes that embrace conflict; that inexactness in structure should be viewed as positive,
giving separate understandings of a singular structure on the basis of who is observing it, uses it or
experiencing the space.
Than it starts to focus on the informal, it is the method which includes thinking and doing that
does not have distinct rules and fixed patterns. The informal does not have a set of standards or
rules and methods it can be copied and applied to acts of making.
The informal is a result of interactions between relationships, the informal acts as an agent of
release and architecture are free from the traditional notions or rule of fixed grid and locked in cage .
According to Balmond informal is a way of architecture shedding off the links of previous design
movements and concepts that helps in a way of exploring and expanding the discipline. The
informal is known as liberation for architecture.
Balmond then takes us on a survey of work in which he shows how the informal has been applied
and utilized for new advancement and exploration in architecture before concluding with a
discussion of new structure and new science.
By removing fixed rules, there

both socially and mentally has been shown to help in the prevention/delay of the disease.
Researchers from the University of Wollongong in Australia have found a link between the ATP
binding transporter A7 (ABCA7) and the regulation in the risk of Alzheimer s disease. ABCA7
helps to clear out AОІ (amyloid beta) from the brain. AОІs can group together and block cell to cell
signaling at synapses. The evidence in human and mouse trials have shown that ABAC7 has a role
in the regulation of Alzheimer s treatment and risk. ABCA7 has been found to be in high amounts
amongst microglia in the brain and directly regulates phagocytosis. Further testing was done to
determine what the exact link is between this transporter and Alzheimer s disease.... Show more

The problem with this test in particular is the fact it has to be done on humans. This limits the
amount of trials that can be run due to cost, availability of patients, and the fact it is a human life
and not a mouse s. The need for a specific type of individual as a volunteer also contributes to the
fewer number of trials that can be run. I like the fact that the drug was put against a placebo.
Studies have shown that placebos work as good as the actual when a short period of time is
examined. The placebo also makes for a good test group/control group. The results were not
released at the time of the article. I d like to see the results with hope people will have another
option for slowing or preventing the spread of this disease. In the future I d like to see faster,
easier, and cheaper tests developed. The peanut butter test was a good idea. Medical care is so
expensive it would be beneficial if a way to diagnose and treat the diagnoses were cheaper and
faster. Additional reaserch of what actually can be done to prevent and stop the progression of
this disease needs to be accomplished. Disorders like this, which affect memory, are really hard
on the patient and their families. I d like to see more done on their behalf. It is encouraging to
see that researchers are getting a better understanding on what may cause Alzheimer s. The fact
that there are numerous causalities prolong the research needed to narrow the results down and
discover what is the best way to prevent/treat this disease. I am bolstered by the fact that so
much research and trials are being done to help prevent this. Other nervous disorders are equally
bad in their own ways, however ones that affect people mentally are the worst. Nothing can be
worse than being trapped in your own head and having no way out. Forgetting who you are and
who your loved ones are is a fate that

The Two Sides of Joan of Arc
Both Joan of Arc and beyond they myth: the story of Joan of arc are similar in subject, but differ in

The stories Joan of Arc and beyond they myth: the story of Joan of arc are very interesting they
both talk about the same person but the context is somewhat contrasting and so is their subject.
These differences will be explored such as there similarities.
The first thing that will be talked about is the fact that the first author whose book I read was a
longer read than the gale article. This is because there is a different purpose to the book and the

A Story of Race and a Forbidden Love
A Story of Race and a Forbidden Love

The story Country Lovers was written in 1975 when times were different then they are today.
This story was written about a farmer s son and one of the children of the farm s help. There are
many aspects of this story that are wrong but the most pronounced one is the racial segregation.
Even though certain races are perceived as inferior to some, there should be no such thing because
we all need to work together to make the planet a better place and lives are ruined over racial this
segregation. The theme of this story is about tough choices and racial divides. Throughout the ...

She also changed her testimony at the trial saying that she never saw what she said she did
during the preliminary inquiry. It is not made clear why she said that she saw him pour the
liquid down the baby s throat when what she heard were baby grunts as if the baby s stomach
were full. All of this truly shows how much she cared for Paulus. This story is about a place that
is really hard for some of us in America to understand because we do not live with this amount of
segregation. In certain places in Africa it is very strict on racial divides even to this day. Even with
the world stage crying for equality in race, ethnic and gender there are many countries today that
still have strict ethnic and racial divides as well as strict rules on the roles of women. Stories like
this one should be part of any school s curriculum. I did not know that countries were still like
this until I was in my late teens early twenties. I received a big dose of cultural sensitivity
training on my plane ride to Afghanistan in later 2001. I saw the horrible ways that women are
treated over there and I saw this again on a trip to the horn of Africa. I use the word horrible
because that is what it is to me by the standards I was raised with, but it is just normal life to them.

Delusions In Hitchcock s Psycho
The next symptom of psychosis is delusions. Delusions are unwavering mistaken beliefs.
Specifically, it is beliefs that are widely accepted to be false or are contradicted by facts. The
difficulty in identifying delusions in literature is that every delusional person has their own
mental fallacies. Since it is next to impossible to tell what a fictional character is thinking, much
less what is believed, only the effect of the delusions can be analyzed. Norman Bates from Robert
Bloch s novel, Psycho, later immortalized in Alfred Hitchcock s film by the same title, is a prime
example of the misrepresentation of delusional behaviors. The primary reasons that Norman Bates
is not truly a delusional character is because he accepts that Norma Bates, Mother , is deceased, he
accepts that he has a separate identity than Mother, and most importantly, he has distinct memories
that contradict the beliefs of Mother, therefore, he is able to recall, internalize, and act upon these
memories. As a child Norman was taught by his mother that amorous activities were sinful and
wrong and all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In its most basic form, paranoia is an irrational fear or extreme anxiety. Most people experience
some form of paranoia at one time or another during their lifetime. However, clinical paranoia is
an extreme fear of something that could never actually occur. The person who is experiencing
this type of paranoia often understands that what is triggering the terror is illogical and
infeasible yet it still causes crippling angst. A classic example of clinical paranoia can be found
in Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. Harris character, Francis Dolarhyde truly exhibits textbook
symptoms of clinical paranoia. Throughout the novel Dolarhyde knows that the red dragon is not
real. He knows that the copy of the painting by William Blake that he has enshrined in his attic
possesses no real power over him, yet he is completely controlled by it. He is

There was a pie graph from EIA about the United States greenhouse gas emissions in 2009. It
showed 81.5% of carbon dioxide is responsible. Also, the responsibility of methane was 11.1%,
nitrous oxide was 3.3%, high GWP gases were 2.7, and other carbon dioxide was 1.3%. As the
graph showed, carbon dioxide takes the biggest part for causing global warming because it is
emitted by fossil fuels which are used for people s daily lives. The cars are the best example of
emitting carbon dioxide. When gasoline is burned, carbon dioxide is emitted to the air. Not
only the cars, but also factories, electricity production and other transportations are responsible
for emitting carbon dioxide. Those are made and built by human beings, and the number one
causation of global warming. Also, deforestation is another factor that causes carbon dioxide.
Usually, people know that trees are emitting oxygen by absorbing carbon dioxide. However,
when trees die and decay the mass of carbon dioxide that were saved in the tress is released.
Because people cut and burn the trees now, the more carbon dioxide is released than before.
Once forests are disappears, there will be mass of carbon dioxide in the Earth by killing trees, and
will be no source that turn this gas into oxygen. Methane is another synthetic gas that is
responsible for global warming. It is a gas that more powerful and active than carbon dioxide, and
the second biggest causation of global

South East Asian Crisis
INTRODUCTION
The South East Asian financial crisis was a period of financial crisis that gripped much of Asia
beginning in July 1997, and raised fears of a worldwide economic meltdown due to financial
contagion. The crisis started in Thailand with the financial collapse of the Thai Baht caused by the
decision of the Thai government to float the Baht, cutting its peg to the USD, after exhaustive
efforts to support it in the face of a severe financial overextension that was in part real estate driven.
At the time, Thailand had acquired a burden of foreign debt that made the country effectively
bankrupt even before the collapse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Western importers sought cheaper manufacturers and found them, indeed, in China whose currency
was depreciated relative to the dollar.
Lessons for the developing countries from the Asian crisis: 1. Need for great caution about
Financial liberalization and Globalization
One of the most important lessons from the Asian crisis is that it is prudent and necessary for
developing countries to have measures that reduce its exposure to the risks of globalization and
thus place limits on its degree of financial liberalizations. In a globalized world, developing
countries often face tremendous pressures coming from developed countries, international
agencies, transnational and national companies to completely open up their economies. It is
proven that liberalization can and has played a positive role development, however; the Asian
crisis has shown up that in some circumstances, liberalization can play havoc, especially on small
and dependent economies. This is more so prominent in the field of financial liberalization, where
lifting of controls over capital flows can lead to such extreme results as a country accumulating a
mountain of foreign debts within a few years, the sudden sharp depreciation of its currency, and a
sudden rush of foreign owned and local owned funds out of the country in a few months. So,
* Developing countries should exercise caution while

Hamlet Essay
Hamlet Each major character of Shakespeare s Hamlet has a major flaw, which destroys him or
her. The King, Queen, Hamlet, Ophelia, and Polonius all have these flaws but Horatio does not. He
is Shakespeare s ideal man.
Claudius fatal flaw is ambitiousness. Claudius kills his brother King Hamlet and then takes the
throne by marrying King Hamlet s wife: Therefore our sometime sister, now our queen...have we
(as twere with a defeated joy, with an auspicious and a dropping eye, with mirth in funeral and
with dirge in marriage, in equal scale weighing delight and dole) taken to wife (I.ii.10 14).

King: Gertrude, do not drink.
Queen: I will, my lord; I pray you pardon me. [She drinks]
King: [aside] It is the poisoned cup. It is too late...
Queen: No, no, the drink, the drink! O, my dear
Hamlet! The drink, the drink! I am poisoned.
Hamlet s passivity is his flaw. The deceased King Hamlet s ghost tells Hamlet to get revenge:
Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder (I.v.31) and by telling him this he misses the
opportunity to kill King Claudius: Now might I do it *pat*, now he is a praying, and now I ll do

sole son, do this same villain send to heaven. Why, this is [something Claudius should pay me
for], not revenge. He took my father grossly, full of bread, with all his crimes broad blown, as

Tim Burton Influence
Tim Burton works as a producer, illustrator, screenwriter, painter, and a director with unique
characteristics and reverberating themes ( Tim Burton Biography ). At a young age, one of Tim
Burton s teachers influenced him to stay true to what he imagined and visualized for his art
instead of limiting his capabilities as an artist. Tim Burton recreates and re visualizes the classical
tradition of art where the viewer can get a sense of Tim Burton s imagination and emotions. One
of the ways that Tim Burton emphasizes his past in his work would come from a question about
how Burton s childhood can be seen from the main character s isolation, from Frankenweenie , in
an article by Dave Itzkoff in the New York Times stating I felt like an outcast.

According to The Art of Tim Burton: The Artist Before The Filmmaker website, the gothic art
can be seen by the use of black, the darkness of some of his drawings, the heavy make up, the
paleness of the skins, the macabre, and monsters and other ghostly creatures ( The Art of Tim
Burton: The Artist Before The Filmmaker ). According to the World of Light and Shadow German
Expressionism and its Influence on Modern Cinema website, German Expressionist films have
two separate elements from all of the films deal with a heavy contrast between black and white,
good and evil, light and shadow, and deal with brokenness and insanity of a shattered psyche (Tim
Martin). The movie Edward Scissorhands involves Gothic art because the house that Edward lives
in at the beginning of the movie includes Gothic design, such as the color black and the way that
the house looks like a form of a small mansion and a form of a cathedral due to the amount of
space the building seems to have. The image above this paragraph features Edward Scissorhands
and Cesare from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari beside each other because the resemblance of the
facial expression and the body posture suggests that Cesare, from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari ,
influenced Tim Burton with the use of German Expressionism. German Expressionism would be
included with the facial expression of Edward Scissorhands from Cesare because German
Expressionists emphasize the horror of life because the people were living within the aftermath
or the war and for some of the other citizens the people were still living the war itself. (Tim
Martin). The posture of Edward Scissorhands also shows German Expressionism because it could
emphasize the way in which the character feels awkward, lonely, and confused as compared to
Cesare s posture. The viewer s

Long Vacation Vs Year Round School
Nowadays, schools across the country tend to switch their schedule to a year round curriculum,
which suggests that both teachers and students no longer have the traditional two months of
summer vacation. However, many proponents of an extended summer vacation contend that long
vacation each year is better for students. As the seemingly simple notion of several short vacations
throughout the year triggers a firestorm of debate, we need to understand the realistic effects of
several short vacations. If students have more frequent breaks, they can avoid the brain drain .
Several short breaks also make it easier to get a fresh start when necessary. Finally, I think that the
purpose for which long summervacation was introduced is no longer exist.
First of all, frequent short break is the antidote of the dreaded brain drain that students experience
during the summer vacation. Most of the cases, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The traditional American school year consists of a nine month schedule requiring 180 days in the
classroom. This schedule was designed when America was still a largely agrarian country. At that
time, this system was established due to children were often needed to work in the fields during the
summer period. As those reasons no longer make sense in this modern era, I support year round
education instead of nine month school year.
In a nutshell, I think several short vacations are better than long summer vacation in many ways.
Students are able to rest and regain energy in between the classes and exams, and their
recollection of lesson is considerably enhanced. Furthermore, it also meets teachers high demand
for their time at the end of grading period. Lastly, the long summer vacation is not what is best for
today s students since traditional long summer vacation is no longer essential. So, I believe it is a
plan that every school should

Morgan Freeman Mentor
Tennessee born actor Morgan Freeman often plays the role of a mentor or father figure. This can
be seen in numerous films starring Freeman, including, An Unfinished Life, Last Knights, Lean
on Me, The Magic of Belle Isle, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. In all of these films, he is a
mentor to at least one person who has lost a father. However, although he has been pigeonholed as
the mentor, Freeman is capable of portraying a wide variety of characters, and demonstrates this in
the aforementioned films as well as others. In Last Knights, London has Fallen, Dreamcatcher, and
Lean on Me, Freeman s characters Lord Bartok, Allan Trumball, Colonel Curtis, and Joe Clark are

Last Orders By Graham Swift
Last Orders by Graham Swift is a novel that tells the story of four men as they carry out the last
wishes of the recently deceased Jack Dodds: that his ashes be scattered into the sea at Margate, a
sea his family frequently visited. The story follows the four men on their journey to the sea
through the eyes of Ray Johnson, one of Jack s war buddies. The novelis also composed of
flashbacks through the eyes of several of the characters in the novel. The three other men, Vince
Dodds, Lenny Tate, and Vic Tucker, are influential to the plot as they are all used to narrate
flashbacks, as well. In Last Orders, Graham Swift uses these flashbacks to show how the characters
are shaped by each other; he does this through the characters occupations and hobbies, relationships
between couples, and relationships between parents and children. One way Swift introduces the
characters to his audience is through their occupations. Despite his being dead, Jack remains the
central character in the novel as many of the flashbacks reference Jack s occupation, a butcher. Jack
is forced to be a butcher because he must carry on the family business, but it is revealed by Ray
what he really wanted was to be a doctor (Swift 33). Given this, Jack shows ambivalence throughout
the flashbacks about being a butcher. Alexandra Marginean contends that Jack praises the
occupation as dignifying and manly, but at the same time resents it (272). However ambivalent he
may be, Jack shows that he has

Descriptive Essay On Apple Picking
Apple Picking Today was going exceptionally well for me. My mom said we were going apple
picking. We get there and play for a while. After a while we decide to go on the tractor. We hop
onto the back of the wagon and go riding on the short trail. When we arrive, I see rows and rows
of trees with apples hanging off of the hands of their arms. It s time to go apple picking! I think
to myself excitedly. Everyone grabs their own little baggies and are told we can only pick four
five apples otherwise we d have hundreds of apples when we finish. I follow my mom through the
rows of trees labeled Granny SmithApples. It doesn t take me long to find some juicy looking
apples. Once I finish picking my apples, I lay them next to my mom and go find my cousins Abby
and Mia to play with.
We run through the series of trees until we tire ourselves out. After a while we head back to
where all of our aunts are. Let s get some family pictures. says my aunt Naomi. We all gather
around and take one big family picture and then separate pictures. Let s get a picture with all
three of you girls biting into the same apple. exclaims our mothers. We go pick a few large sized

Prospero And Ariel In The Tempest By Willam Shasphere
In the Tempest by Willam Shasphere the main character Prospero betrays the fairy on the island
named Ariel. For instance, Prospero gives Ariel false hope that he would free her but instead he
says Ariel, thy charge exactly is performed; but there s more work. p.521 l.238 This portrays how
Prospero takes advantage of Ariel by giving her false hope of freedom. This also shows, that
Prosperois manipulative to get his way towards Ariel.Despite him being so harsh towards Ariel we
learn further in to the story Prospero does keep his word and release Ariel from being Prospero
servant. In The Tempestwe learn that Prospero was left on an abandoned island with his three year
old daughter Miranda. He then finds Ariel as being a fairy type of creature who then cast a spell
becoming Prospero personal servant. Ariel, thy charge exactly is performed; but there s more
work. p.521 l.238. As can be seen this quote shows how Ariel is Prospero personal servant. This is
important to the analysis of Prospero and Ariel because it shows how Prospero can really be evil and

He drops his harsh by first forgiving his sibling and later in the story dropping the spell on Ariel.
Towards the end of the story, Prospero begins to get light hearted and begins to forgive. This
favors Ariel because it means she can be released from the spell. In Prospero forgiving people he
begins to notice the severity of his actions and how he took Ariel by force. Prospero then
changes from evil and manipulative to kind and well hearted, and Ariel changes from malleable
and nice to kind and free. These word describe Prospero because at the beginning it shows how he
had no remorse to hurt people and in the end he got a heart and looked out for people. This hold
significance to the story because it shows how the nature of someone frustration can bring them to

French And Indian War Effects
The French and Indian war, also known as the 7 years war, was not just a defeat for France and
disaster for the Native Americans, but it spewed later trouble for Britain, causing the war to be a
disaster for Britain as well. The first major impact the war was on France, for after the war they
lost major portions of their territory in North America. The Native Americans had been impacted
due to the fact that their lands were now under the control of the British Empire, an empire which
usually had conflicts with Native American tribes. Finally, the war later spewed trouble for Britain
due to the fact that with new territory west of the Appalachians, British colonists who were

many tribes, destroying others, and creating conflicts between natives and British colonists.
Thirdly, The war, though in Britain s favor, had devastated it in the years to come by first
causing large scale rebellions in the newly acquired lands, and by later angering colonists who
were restricted from migrating to the newly conquered land. Finally, British colonists were
benefited by the war in the fact that the Albany Plan was created, thus inspiring movements such
as the declaration of independence a little over a decade after the war. Albeit, the colonists had a
new sense of cooperation among themselves, they were still negatively impacted in the war in the

However, after an independently wealthy celebrity and two established federal candidates were

wait for the opportunity to strike and make his presence known, but he is just being outspent and is
getting outpaced (Everett 2016). Not everyone, especially potential donators, share Kasich s
optimism and do not want to spend money on a perceived lost cause. Especially, with Trump
dominating the election and media cycles enhancing his first place lead. With that being said,
Kasich and his campaign managers are being exceptionally frugal and cost efficient with their
limited funds (Levinson 2016). Their budgeting skills and ability to save money for ads in New
Hampshire and in the Super Tuesday states may be a source of Kasich s optimism. They were
acutely aware from the beginning that they would not receive money on the level of Clinton or
Cruz until Super Tuesday at the earliest. So, they have done an exceptional job keeping Kasich in
fourth place on a twelfth place budget.

The Epidemic Of Today s Culture
This generation s culture is toxic for today s youth. It is known that today s generation is
definitely less respectful and more technology friendly than any other generation, but now it is
affecting the mental and physical health of kids across the country. To know how today s culture
is ruining childhood it is a good thing to understand how technology, fast food, and marketing is

people lives in the United States and even around the world. Wal Mart is a great place to shop
for variety of products in short time or just to go window shopping with a group of friends. The
items are well organized throughout the store where you can see signs of the departments
within the store. Another advantage of Walmart is its low price. Wal Mart supports slogans like
We sell for less and Always on low price . As a large retail company, they have prices that are
lower than local stores in your neighborhood and they are certain that one could save money by
shopping at Walmart. Yet, Walmart has the tendency to be crowded, especially on the weekends
that can make a shopping trip longer than it needs to be. Even with the large parking lot, it
seems like full every time I visited Wal Mart. However, when I do find a spot to park my car, a
camera on a light post is already watching me before I even walk in the store. Once I walk out
my car and lock it, I can see cameras all over the parking lot as I make my way into the store.
Furthermore, I can see a security guard riding around in a patrol car within the parking lot. As I

My View On Mother Nature

was a beautiful day in the city of Wichita, Kansas. But soon, the seeming innocent place had
changed. I recall the silent thud of my feet pounding against the pavement as I ran for my life, the
sound having been silenced by the loud buzzing noises getting closer. The tornado had struck.

house, and demolished it completely. The safe house was shattered into pieces. I felt a hand grab

We have to get away from here safely. We can come back and look for them later, Tanya
whispered urgently. I nodded, and together, we turned and raced away from the tornado as fast as
possible. There is a safe house a little away from my house. Let s head there, Tanya replied.
We reached the safe house unscathed, and I slammed the door shut behind us. The sound of our
heavy breathing was followed by an uncomfortable silence.
They ll be fine, and so will we. They were in a safe house after all, and so are we. Safe houses are

I think you re forgetting one little detail. The safe house they were in was made of wood! The one

Microsoft Built Security From The Bottom Up Sql Server
Microsoft built security from the bottom up in SQL Server 2005 and has aged in database
security in each new version ever snice. SQL Server 2012 continues the trend with cool new
features, like new server level roles, new algorithms, and new permissions. It also adds databases
that are contained, which allow the end users to connect to the databasewithout providing
permission at the server level. This is an excellent idea to solve problems when you move to
databases, but it sounds terrifying from a security context. There are other new security add ons,
along with tricks and shortcuts to old features. There is nothing really new in this current release,
just further constriction and familiarizing to the countless ways companies use the database server.
In this research paper, there are a couple of features to explore in SQL Server 2012. My dream is by
the end of this paper you will have all you need to choose if your database will be protected in SQL
Server 2012. Because of the security features in SQL server 2005 the 2012 SQL server was a
required advancement, but there may be other reasons why a consumer might not want to change to
a new server besides security.
There are new SQL Server 2012 security features that Microsoft has provided to their database

Jesus Seminar Critique
One critique to the Jesus Seminar was the motives behind their work. The media often portrayed
the group to be comprised mostly of former Christians, attacking hardest on the group s leader
Robert Funk and cochair John Crossan. Critics went as far to describe their meetings as having the
air of a village atheists convention (Powell, 110). Such an allegation gave rise to the popular belief
that the motives of the scholars were to get revenge on institutionalized religionfor not being
accepting to them. I believe the media was too quick to judge the motives of the scholars by
attacking their backgrounds. Just because their work was controversial doesn t mean it was
subjective with underlying personal vendettas. It seems unlikely that a group... Show more content

The most rebutted aspect of the work done by the scholars was their idiosyncrasy to equate
unverifiable with unauthentic. Most scholars who study the elements attribute to the life of Jesus
stand on common ground when it comes to the realization that many of the sayings and deeds
associated to Jesus in the Gospels lack sufficient evidence to establish authenticity. However, to
many scholars insufficient evidence means an element cannot be verified, and therefore should not
be deemed as historical. In contrast, the Jesus Seminar went beyond this scope and maintained that
Jesus did not say or did not do things that cannot be authenticated by evidence. For example, it is
widely accepted that there is very little evidence to support whether or not Jesus was born from his
virgin mother, Mary. As a result, this element of his life has just been something that one would
believe on the foundation of religious faith rather than historical science. However, the Jesus
Seminar applied a post Enlightenment historical scientific view to this element in order to
determine authenticity. Under this assessment, they determined not only what is confirmable but
what also is scientifically possible. Therefore, the scholars deemed the virgin birth as non
historical, concluding that Jesus had been conceived through normal sexual intercourse between a
male and female because it fit the paradigm known today. This stance held by the Jesus Seminar
turn[s] a corner in the traditional understanding of the relationship that faith and philosophy bear to
science and history (Powell, 115). For this reason, I reject the integrity of their work. I believe
faith and philosophy should be kept separate of science and history, unless the two aim to support
one another. Rescinding concepts of faith simply because they do fall within current scientific
boundaries is illegitimate. The major flaw of the Jesus Seminar is their

Abstract

The aim of the study was to investigate whether reading government guidelines on alcohol
consumption would affect an individual s intentions to drink within the guidelines or not. The study
is also focused on investigating the reliability of alcohol specific compensatory health belief scale
using test retest and internal consistency measures.
Introduction
There has been a lot of recent research into compensatory health beliefs, in particular what activates
these beliefs. Compensatory health beliefs are beliefs that a person activates as compensation after
engaging in unhealthy behaviours. An example of this is someone believing that they can have a
piece of cake as they are going to the gym later. They understand that the cake is unhealthy but try
and compensate for that by doing something healthy to counteract it. This study focuses on
compensatory health beliefs surrounding binge drinking in the UK. Binge drinking has become a
serious problem in the UK, in 2012 13, there were an estimated 1,008,850 admissions related to
alcohol consumption where an alcohol related disease, injury or condition was the primary reason

Roles Of Women In Ancient Greek Society
Women s Place in Ancient Greek Society
Women in antiquity did not have an easy life. In an era where man rules, women have limited
freedom and few rights. Women s roles differed little from Rome, Egypt, and China. There were
few exceptions: women living in the city of Sparta had some nobility and rose to power, for
example, Athena, the goddess of wisdom and military victory. Besides those above, women of that
era were limited to an education, mobility, and their roles was housewives and childbearing.
Women had little time to involve herself in the political goings on in that era.
A woman s fate was controlled by the father and passed down to the husband afterwards. Women
of the antiquity were married in their early teens to older husbands. The marriages were arranged
by the Father s bride and often the bride did not meet the husband until marriage details had been
worked out. Virginity was valuable for women in antiquity, as well loyalty and fidelity. For a
woman to divorce it needed the permission from a male member of the family (the father). Women
were not allowed to own land or dispose property as she pleases. Also, they are prohibited to
participate in politics, buy goods or sell services. Men believed women only cause despair, chaos,
and confused situations even more, that they are incapable of decision making

What this could mean for the future is difficult to say with any surety. However, the more
optimistic people like to speculate that robots will become an increasingly important and

How Johnny Cade Character Changes Essay
In life, people change in different ways due to specific moments that affect their outlook on life.
Like people, characters in books change. Johnny Cade changes from timid and shy to gallant
and strong. Johnny is the character that changes the most in this story. The bigger factors that
change Johnny throughout the story are his cruel parents as well as a church fire. In the story,
Johnny has a lot of problems at home that affect his feelings throughout the beginning of the
book to make him a timid and fearful boy. Johnny s father abuses him daily, his mother ignores
him, he gets whipped a lot, and sometimes he even runs away. This causes his characteristic of
being quiet. He gets treated badly in his house, and that causes him to be shy. Since he thinks his

The Natural Gas Price Of Gas
There are various reasons that prediction of natural gas price is imperative to producers, suppliers,
traders, market makers, and bankers involved in natural gas exploration, production, transportation
and trading as well as consumers involved in utilization of natural gas (Mishra, 2012). The prices of
energy commodity including natural gasprice are very volatile that make the parties engaged in a
high risk and uncertain activities. More accurate forecast of the price, help them to select an
appropriate strategy to lower the uncertainty and hedge the risk. This research attempt to find the
best way to model and forecast natural gas price among different approaches and choose the
optimum practice to use.
The natural gas price is also important in evaluation of gas reserves (Caldwell Heather, 1996).
The price of gas has huge effect on the value of the reserves which is a massive part of Gas
Company s assets. Fluctuation in gas price make an oscillation in company s value that increase the
investment risk which results a decrease in company s stock price.
1.1. What is Natural Gas
Natural gas (also called marsh or swamp gas in older texts and more recently Landfill gas) is a
combustible mixture of gaseous hydrocarbons consisting of methane as a major component and
heavier hydrocarbons including ethane, propane, butanes, and very small amount of pentanes or
heavier components (Speight, 2007). The natural gas mixture also includes the unsaturated

Causes Of The American Revolution The Antagonizing British
American Revolution: The Antagonizing British The American Revolution had initiated due to
chain reaction events caused by the British that infuriated the colonists. Many of the colonist felt
that the British were violating their constitutional rights, so the colonist eventually fought back.
The three major events that led up to the American Revolutionwhere the French and Indian War,
Intolerable Acts, and the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The British fueled the American
Revolution by limiting colonist s expansion, violating their rights, invading U.S. soil. All three of
these events against the colonists came together like a puzzle to start the American Revolution War.
The French and Indian War started in 1754 and it was a war between the French with United States
help against the Indians with Britain s help. The war was fought in North America, eventually the
British won the war and French was kicked out of the North America territory. The British were
able to gain a substantial amount of land from the colonists although they suffered some
repercussions. The war had been enormously expensive, and the British government s attempts to
impose taxes on colonists to help cover these expenses resulted in increasing colonial resentment of
British attempts to expand imperial authority in the colonies. British attempts to limit western
expansion by colonists and inadvertent provocation of a major Indian war further angered the

year term. The governmentis also consistent because of the election frequency.
Despite, tension with China, the government understands the importance of keeping business
relations with one of their top trading partners. South Korea is ranked 32 of 112 countries in their
degree of democracy. South Korea has several non governmental organizations (NGOs). NGOs
can be described as an organization that is neither a part of a government nor a conventional for
profit business. Some of the goals are to combat trafficking, develop a positive community,
spread peace, and to provide child care through the House of Hope, World Vision Korea, and
many other NGOs that are prominent. South Korea is stable for business owners as well. The risk
of confiscations are low and expropriation is rare. South Korea follows the generally accepted

Moral Dialogue In Akira Kurowasa s Film Rashomon
Rashomon and it s significance in moral dialogue Akira Kurowasa s film, Rashomon, (released
in 1951) is a remarkable detective/crime film which revolutionized the film making industry and
won many prestigious awards, and was said to the best foreign film out there. The scene took
place in the Ancient Japan. The story of murder talked and showed a Japanese woman who got
raped, and her husband getting killed in a sword fight. The Woodcutter who was one of the
protagonists claimed that he saw the testimony through his very own eyes. However, there are four
distinctive points of view, each telling their own side of the murder. Unfortunately, many of the
Western movie critics misunderstood the film, or just simply oversimplified its meaning. They
believed the true meaning of the story was the subjectivity of the truth, which is not what the story
talked about but rather it s about the quicksand of ego. The quicksand of ego is an important term
since its one of the many moral implications shown in Rashomon which ties nicely with
philosophical topics as well as moral dialogue itself. Rashomon effect which is defined as
Kurosawa saying the film is not about the truth, but the quicksand of ego, which Priest who was
another main character refused to accept. The true and pure meaning behind the Rashomon effect
is that we cannot see the truth in everything, because we as a society are questioning our true
believes and goals in life. It is very difficult to find truth, especially when

Sweatshops In China
It was Martin Luther King, Jr. who said, Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere
ignorance. Many people in the Western world either do not know or choose to ignore the fact that a
massive amount of products that come into North America from faraway lands are produced in
sweatshops, including shoes, clothing, and toys. This ignorance over the inhumane and unjust
labour conditions happening in factories on other sides of the globe is precisely what keeps these
horrifying practices alive. China is home to one of the most enormous and concentrated sweatshop
systems in the world. There are approximately 150 million people in China working in ghastly
conditions, having to live off nearly unsustainable pay, and being refused benefits... Show more

In present China, forced and unpaid prison labor is widespread and common. Characteristics of
Chinese sweatshops include overcrowding, lack of sanitary conditions, no worker breaks,
demands to complete a task within a limited period of time, and a total lack of job security.
Government negligence is what allows such abuses to persist. Some plants force employees into
working extraordinary amounts of hours, for example, a Price Waterhouse audit of Nike
factories in China found that some require seven days of work per week. Many workers who
supposedly have the choice to work overtime must do so in order to survive on their low wage
rates. The people working in Chinese sweatshops only get a small amount of payment for their
work and nothing more. The locals do not benefit at all, but instead suffer from the presence of
foreign businesses in their country. As for the foreigners, one telling statistic is that the United States
imports an estimated $100 million per year in goods produced by Chinese migrant workers. The
outside companies gain millions as the developing countries struggle to survive. Presently,
foreigners gain massively from the resource of migrant workers in China. The locals that can
benefit from their presence benefit very, very little, that is, if a small amount of money for their
work is seen as a benefit. The Chinese employees work is valuable to the company, for their

An Army At Dawn Essay
The book An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa 1942 1943 gives the reader valuable insight
into the campaign in North Africa in 1942 1943 for both Allied and the German forces. The
narrative follows the American and British armies as they fought the Vichy French in Morocco and
Algiers, and then later when they fight the Germans and the Italians for Tunisia. The novel follows
the inexperienced and ill led soldiers from battle to battle as they gradually become a more cohesive
and deadly fighting force. This novel also centers around the almost mythical but also flawed
commanders who dominate the battlefield and write their names in the history books: Eisenhower,
Patton, Bradley, Montgomery, and Rommel. The author, Patrick Atkinson, lays out a spectacular
narrative on what was happening during Operation Torch and in the North African Campaign. In
analyzing the narrative, the author s main points consist of the Allies (American and British) and
German strategy/thinking during the campaign. The other main points consist of the ally defeats
and failures during the campaign which resulted in them having to re strategize and rethink of how
to defeat the Nazi forces under the command of Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel. All of this
cumulates to his important main point, which was that the Allies gained enough vital experience
from their past defeats to win the overall campaign. There are parallels and tie ins fro this book
that correspond to the readings that we have had to do

Argumentative Essay Animal Snoops
Animal Intelligence Argumentative Essay Have you ever heard a parrot repeat what a human has
said. Is this a sign of intelligence or is it mimic. I believe that animals are intelligent. Animals use
their intelligence to find food, a mate, and a home.
I believe this because in the passage Animal Snoops it tells about a parrot named Marshmallow
eavesdropping on some robbers. When listening to the robbers, he learned one of the robbers
nicknames JJ . When the robbers went to leave the bird shouted JJ . The robbers left but then came
back to nab the bird. When they returned, the police was waiting for them. I think this this proves
intelligence. But if this doesn t this will. Monkeys have learned how to crack open nuts with a large

Head Hair In Ancient Egypt
In Ancient Egypt, head hair was commonly associated with one s age and wealth where a
shaven head with a small curl at the side of the head would indicate a youth, while wigs were
worn by older people to conceal their greying or lack of hair. As for China, hairstyles were not an
easily changeable outlet for personal expression, but rather a symbol of everything from status
to ethnicity to political ideals until the recent years after 1970s. In the ancient times, Confucius
s philosophy of Filial Piety was deeply rooted in the mindsets of the people, and stated that one s
body, hair and skin was granted by parents. Thus, it was considered extremely disrespectful to cut
head hair. And in the Tang Dynasty, hairdos with different shapes evolved into a symbol of class
status. Hairstyles were also used as an indicator of a woman s marriage status; an unmarried
woman wore her hair down or tied in a single braid, while a married woman usually had her hair up
in coils or a knot. In Africa, hairstyles were seen as a representation of one s tribe. Different styles
hold different meanings to each tribe. The Masai warriors wore headdresses, spent hours braiding
each other s hair and dyed their hair red. Women would shave their heads when they are married
to symbolise a new beginning. Mangbetu women braided their hairs into a cone shaped basket,
held in place by bones shaped like needles.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Examining a Business Failure
Examining a Business Failure: Tyco International Ltd. В®
LDR 531
August 23, 2010
Examining a Business Failure: Tyco International Ltd. В® Many have heard the proverb, A chain
is only as strong as its weakest link. This can be directly applied to business organizations through
analysis of the three strongest and/or weakest links: managers, leaders and the organizational
structure. These three areas provide the central core to any organization and are often linked to
dramatic failures and consequences when weaknesses arise. In this paper, the student will discuss
the 2002 failure of Tyco International Ltd. В® (Tyco) in which the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit claiming fraud, reporting violations, ... Show more content on

While this was only one of many claims held by the SEC, it shows the fraudulent nature of the
accusations. Additionally, the SEC pursued harsh consequences for the crimes as a means to offer
restitution to all investors damaged by the executive s actions (U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission, 2010).
Managers and Leaders While it is difficult to offer a specific definition of a manager and leader, the
type of control used to manage/persuade employees can offer a clear distinction. A manager often
uses a bureaucratic, authoritative style, and a leader most often relies on charisma and influence to
achieve goals. Neither style is better than the other; however, one may achieve greater results
dependent upon the situation. According to Yuki, within the managementatmosphere, many
decision processes are disorderly and political (2006, p. 26). In the case with Tyco, many actions
completed by the accounting department were highly political, being based upon information
directly from the CEO. During the legal investigation, the SEC found that no employees (with the
exception of those specifically named in the lawsuit) were found in violation of any law. The SEC
concluded that

I Ching And Confucianism
The I Ching, the Book of Change, the foundation of all Chinese religion and science, is an ancient
Chinese divination text that provides influential text in religion, literature, and art. It provided
guidance for moral decision making, based on Taoism and Confucianism. The I Ching can be read
as a microcosm of the universe, explaining how to keep human behavior in unity with the
alternating series of nature. Chinese tradition was divided into Confucianism, the exoteric, and
Taoism, the esoteric, but both see the world and God as a whole, the cosmos. Although different,
both religions allowed their followers to find God in all things, Confucianism through the natural
order, and Taoism through the Tao. Both of these religions encouraged knowledge beyond the
physical world and beyond that which can be known with the senses. Confucianism puts emphasis
on relationships and social harmony, keeping the core humanistic, more focused on problems of
ethics and society. It revolves around the pursuit of unity of the self and the Principle of Heaven,
the cosmos, which overrule human efforts. Confucianism is often called rujiao, meaning the
teaching of the ru, which is one who is conversant with the Heaven, Earth, and humans, the three
domains of human knowledge. Then there is ren which is the collection of all essential human
qualities. Confucianism regards the activities of human life as a manifestation of the sacred,
because they are the expression of our mortal

The Betrayal Of Aboriginal Peoples
Mathushanna Tharmalingam Teacher Cynthia Martin Canadian Democracy 306 10 May 2016 The
Betrayal of Aboriginal peoples in Canada In Canadian history courses, we studied how the
Europeans established in Canada to start a new life. We also learned that Christopher Columbus
was the first explorer to discover this empty land, but in contrary, the native Canadians were already
living in Canada even before it is discovered. Notwithstanding the European settlers moved in and
took over the place. They brought their own Government, they called themselves as the majority
and they also took the lands of the aboriginal people. Indigenous people are seen differently from

However, these people are getting cheated over and over by the government. They were
manipulated and fooled. Aboriginal people want their way of life to be recognized, their values
and their beliefs, rather than the European s way of life. Each time they sign a treaty they face a
disappointment, in other words, they were betrayed by the state. The government of Canada
downplayed consistently the significance of Indigenous rights claims and failed to think about the
grievances left in the long term. Even to say that the Canadian criminal justice system has
abandoned the aboriginal people on a massive scale. It is not only that the justice system has failed
Aboriginal people, but also the government was opposed to them. The rights of Indigenous people
have been ignored and slowly deprived. This resulted in an injustice towards the Indian bands.
People who once ruled their own business independently ended up in poverty and without power.
The years go on and these people realize the unfairness about how they were treated by the justice
system and the authority. Even if they get their rights back, at the end of the day, whatever rights
they may have has no value compared to the state. The authority suppresses their rights. (Asch, M.,

The Cardiovascular System Of The Circulatory System
The circulatory system (also known as the cardiovascular system) is responsible for respiration
(transporting oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from cells), nutrition (carrying nutrients from
digested food substances to the cells of the body), waste removal (disposing cellular waste products
and poisons that may have been consumed during the digestion process), immunity (fighting against
infectious agents such as pathogens), cellular communication (ensuring that that the transport and
the function of the hormones remain steady) and thermoregulation or homeostasis (maintaining the
body s internal temperature by transporting heat). [The Circulatory, Respiratory, and Digestive
Systems. (n.d.). Retrieved May 9, 2015, from http://www.uic.edu/classes/bios/bios100

In the circulatory system, there are three main components that make up the cardiovascular system
and assist in its function: the heart, blood and blood vessels which can be further separated into
arteries and arterioles, circulatory loops, capillaries, veins (coronary arteries) and venules, coronary
arteries and cardiac arteries and hepatic portal circulation (refer to figure 1).
The heart is one of the body s most important organs and is composed of a tissue known as cardiac
muscle which has developed over time to pump blood throughout the body. Over an organism s
lifetime, the heart will beat continuously and powerfully without any rest so cardiac muscle has

Scandal In Bohemia Vs Departures Essay
A study of Sir Conan Doyle s short story, A Scandal in Bohemia and Yojiro Takita s film,
Departures effectively present discovery as an inevitable aspect of human condition that transcends
the impediments of time. Both texts highlight that the discovery of weaknesses leads to new
perspectives as it instils understanding, which are significant aspects of the human condition. While
Doyle employs literary techniques to express various forms of flaws and respect, Takita
manipulates various cinematic techniques to convey underlying aspects of human nature. While
these composers offer differing perspectives, both composers demonstrate the timelessness of
discovery and its vitality for the human condition. It is apparent Doyle believes that the discovery
of weakness is a vital aspect of the human condition. This can be seen through the characterization
of Sherlock Holmes as while he is described as the most perfect... Show more content on

Summary Of The C Word In The Hallways By Anna Quidlen
In her composition, The C Word in the Hallways , Anna Quidlen implores parents, educators, and
politicians to not perceive mental health issues and mental healthcare as preposterously inessential
to the vitality of the modern social landscape, but to actively enhance the attention given to mental
health issues. Her use of tone, diction, allusion, and a myriad of other rhetorical devices adds
sustenance to her vilification of the attitudes surrounding mental health and her endeavor to
illuminate this pertinent issue. Quidlen s use of tone is a mixture of lividness and concern. In the

In paragraph three, Quidlen refers to a 1956 movie called The Bad Seed in which a young girl plays
a homicidal maniac. She chooses to manipulate this example for a specific purpose, to demonstrate
how carelessly and even offensively mental health has been portrayed in popular social mediums
such as film throughout the decades. She highlights that society has created this caricature of
mental illness to be something that alienates and essentially makes one inhuman. This perverted
perspective of mental health has been ingrained in the social fabric of America and many other
nations, propagated by the burgeoning influence of mass media. Furthermore, in paragraph five of
her composition, Quidlen equates the time it took for a physiatrist to evaluate Sam Manzie to be ...

reinforce her position that societal attitudes concerning mental health have been shaped by the

  • 2. Net Neutrality Protest Prior to yesterday s Net Neutrality protest, I have never been to a protest in real life, but have scene several on the web, social media, or news. Usually, protests are loud, sometimes chaotic and the people who are advocating the issue are chanting a phrase in unison. However, yesterday s protest did not seem nothing like what I ve expected. Outside of the Verizon store, people were holding up signs. The signs had phrases that indicated about Net Neutrality, such as FCC, Federal Communications Commission, ISP, #netneutrality, #savethenet, and more. There was a lady that were handing out fliers asking everyone passing by the Verizon store to spread the word within these seven days. The flier had links and the number to call Congress, that ... New structure and informal by Cecil Balmond talks about Continuous and crisscrossing space that spirals upwards looks like a series of cubes that have been inset into one another such formation produce new, chaotic spirals and the structure builds on itself and remains free within this framework. Cecil Balmond had explored the different ways of creating and developing new forms through careful discovery by new and innovative techniques such as structural solution for roofing, overlapping of points for roofing and rotating disc Balmond explores the idea of a generic pattern in the tilling of the walls that transports into the structure from ornamentation to substance. Expansion of a pattern that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fixed form that is copy nature directly becomes forced. Balmond states that instead that one should see what needs to occur is a change in paradigm: acceptance of risk, and the building of internal processes that embrace conflict; that inexactness in structure should be viewed as positive, giving separate understandings of a singular structure on the basis of who is observing it, uses it or experiencing the space. Than it starts to focus on the informal, it is the method which includes thinking and doing that does not have distinct rules and fixed patterns. The informal does not have a set of standards or rules and methods it can be copied and applied to acts of making. The informal is a result of interactions between relationships, the informal acts as an agent of release and architecture are free from the traditional notions or rule of fixed grid and locked in cage . According to Balmond informal is a way of architecture shedding off the links of previous design movements and concepts that helps in a way of exploring and expanding the discipline. The informal is known as liberation for architecture. Balmond then takes us on a survey of work in which he shows how the informal has been applied and utilized for new advancement and exploration in architecture before concluding with a discussion of new structure and new science. By removing fixed rules, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Abc7 Case Studies both socially and mentally has been shown to help in the prevention/delay of the disease. Researchers from the University of Wollongong in Australia have found a link between the ATP binding transporter A7 (ABCA7) and the regulation in the risk of Alzheimer s disease. ABCA7 helps to clear out AОІ (amyloid beta) from the brain. AОІs can group together and block cell to cell signaling at synapses. The evidence in human and mouse trials have shown that ABAC7 has a role in the regulation of Alzheimer s treatment and risk. ABCA7 has been found to be in high amounts amongst microglia in the brain and directly regulates phagocytosis. Further testing was done to determine what the exact link is between this transporter and Alzheimer s disease.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem with this test in particular is the fact it has to be done on humans. This limits the amount of trials that can be run due to cost, availability of patients, and the fact it is a human life and not a mouse s. The need for a specific type of individual as a volunteer also contributes to the fewer number of trials that can be run. I like the fact that the drug was put against a placebo. Studies have shown that placebos work as good as the actual when a short period of time is examined. The placebo also makes for a good test group/control group. The results were not released at the time of the article. I d like to see the results with hope people will have another option for slowing or preventing the spread of this disease. In the future I d like to see faster, easier, and cheaper tests developed. The peanut butter test was a good idea. Medical care is so expensive it would be beneficial if a way to diagnose and treat the diagnoses were cheaper and faster. Additional reaserch of what actually can be done to prevent and stop the progression of this disease needs to be accomplished. Disorders like this, which affect memory, are really hard on the patient and their families. I d like to see more done on their behalf. It is encouraging to see that researchers are getting a better understanding on what may cause Alzheimer s. The fact that there are numerous causalities prolong the research needed to narrow the results down and discover what is the best way to prevent/treat this disease. I am bolstered by the fact that so much research and trials are being done to help prevent this. Other nervous disorders are equally bad in their own ways, however ones that affect people mentally are the worst. Nothing can be worse than being trapped in your own head and having no way out. Forgetting who you are and who your loved ones are is a fate that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Story of Race and a Forbidden Love A Story of Race and a Forbidden Love Kevin Michael Albeck (KEABEC2492) ENG125 Prof. Danielle Slaughter November 16, 2012 The story Country Lovers was written in 1975 when times were different then they are today. This story was written about a farmer s son and one of the children of the farm s help. There are many aspects of this story that are wrong but the most pronounced one is the racial segregation. Even though certain races are perceived as inferior to some, there should be no such thing because we all need to work together to make the planet a better place and lives are ruined over racial this segregation. The theme of this story is about tough choices and racial divides. Throughout the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She also changed her testimony at the trial saying that she never saw what she said she did during the preliminary inquiry. It is not made clear why she said that she saw him pour the liquid down the baby s throat when what she heard were baby grunts as if the baby s stomach were full. All of this truly shows how much she cared for Paulus. This story is about a place that is really hard for some of us in America to understand because we do not live with this amount of segregation. In certain places in Africa it is very strict on racial divides even to this day. Even with the world stage crying for equality in race, ethnic and gender there are many countries today that still have strict ethnic and racial divides as well as strict rules on the roles of women. Stories like this one should be part of any school s curriculum. I did not know that countries were still like this until I was in my late teens early twenties. I received a big dose of cultural sensitivity training on my plane ride to Afghanistan in later 2001. I saw the horrible ways that women are treated over there and I saw this again on a trip to the horn of Africa. I use the word horrible because that is what it is to me by the standards I was raised with, but it is just normal life to them. References: Clugston, Wayne R. (2010). JOURNEY INTO LITERATURE . • 7. Delusions In Hitchcock s Psycho The next symptom of psychosis is delusions. Delusions are unwavering mistaken beliefs. Specifically, it is beliefs that are widely accepted to be false or are contradicted by facts. The difficulty in identifying delusions in literature is that every delusional person has their own mental fallacies. Since it is next to impossible to tell what a fictional character is thinking, much less what is believed, only the effect of the delusions can be analyzed. Norman Bates from Robert Bloch s novel, Psycho, later immortalized in Alfred Hitchcock s film by the same title, is a prime example of the misrepresentation of delusional behaviors. The primary reasons that Norman Bates is not truly a delusional character is because he accepts that Norma Bates, Mother , is deceased, he accepts that he has a separate identity than Mother, and most importantly, he has distinct memories that contradict the beliefs of Mother, therefore, he is able to recall, internalize, and act upon these memories. As a child Norman was taught by his mother that amorous activities were sinful and wrong and all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In its most basic form, paranoia is an irrational fear or extreme anxiety. Most people experience some form of paranoia at one time or another during their lifetime. However, clinical paranoia is an extreme fear of something that could never actually occur. The person who is experiencing this type of paranoia often understands that what is triggering the terror is illogical and infeasible yet it still causes crippling angst. A classic example of clinical paranoia can be found in Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. Harris character, Francis Dolarhyde truly exhibits textbook symptoms of clinical paranoia. Throughout the novel Dolarhyde knows that the red dragon is not real. However, the global issues around the world are the most serious and concerning problems. According to Globe scan, 64% out of 25,000 people said environmental issue is the most serious problem. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was a pie graph from EIA about the United States greenhouse gas emissions in 2009. It showed 81.5% of carbon dioxide is responsible. Also, the responsibility of methane was 11.1%, nitrous oxide was 3.3%, high GWP gases were 2.7, and other carbon dioxide was 1.3%. As the graph showed, carbon dioxide takes the biggest part for causing global warming because it is emitted by fossil fuels which are used for people s daily lives. The cars are the best example of emitting carbon dioxide. When gasoline is burned, carbon dioxide is emitted to the air. Not only the cars, but also factories, electricity production and other transportations are responsible for emitting carbon dioxide. Those are made and built by human beings, and the number one causation of global warming. Also, deforestation is another factor that causes carbon dioxide. Usually, people know that trees are emitting oxygen by absorbing carbon dioxide. However, when trees die and decay the mass of carbon dioxide that were saved in the tress is released. Because people cut and burn the trees now, the more carbon dioxide is released than before. Once forests are disappears, there will be mass of carbon dioxide in the Earth by killing trees, and will be no source that turn this gas into oxygen. Methane is another synthetic gas that is responsible for global warming. It is a gas that more powerful and active than carbon dioxide, and the second biggest causation of global ... South East Asian Crisis September 10, 2011 September 10, 2011 Report Report South East Asian Crisis South East Asian Crisis INTRODUCTION The South East Asian financial crisis was a period of financial crisis that gripped much of Asia beginning in July 1997, and raised fears of a worldwide economic meltdown due to financial contagion. The crisis started in Thailand with the financial collapse of the Thai Baht caused by the decision of the Thai government to float the Baht, cutting its peg to the USD, after exhaustive efforts to support it in the face of a severe financial overextension that was in part real estate driven. At the time, Thailand had acquired a burden of foreign debt that made the country effectively bankrupt even before the collapse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Western importers sought cheaper manufacturers and found them, indeed, in China whose currency was depreciated relative to the dollar. Lessons for the developing countries from the Asian crisis: 1. Need for great caution about Financial liberalization and Globalization One of the most important lessons from the Asian crisis is that it is prudent and necessary for developing countries to have measures that reduce its exposure to the risks of globalization and thus place limits on its degree of financial liberalizations. In a globalized world, developing countries often face tremendous pressures coming from developed countries, international agencies, transnational and national companies to completely open up their economies. It is proven that liberalization can and has played a positive role development, however; the Asian crisis has shown up that in some circumstances, liberalization can play havoc, especially on small and dependent economies. This is more so prominent in the field of financial liberalization, where lifting of controls over capital flows can lead to such extreme results as a country accumulating a mountain of foreign debts within a few years, the sudden sharp depreciation of its currency, and a sudden rush of foreign owned and local owned funds out of the country in a few months. So, * Developing countries should exercise caution while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tim Burton recreates and re visualizes the classical tradition of art where the viewer can get a sense of Tim Burton s imagination and emotions. According to the World of Light and Shadow German Expressionism and its Influence on Modern Cinema website, German Expressionist films have two separate elements from all of the films deal with a heavy contrast between black and white, good and evil, light and shadow, and deal with brokenness and insanity of a shattered psyche (Tim Martin). The movie Edward Scissorhands involves Gothic art because the house that Edward lives in at the beginning of the movie includes Gothic design, such as the color black and the way that the house looks like a form of a small mansion and a form of a cathedral due to the amount of space the building seems to have. Long Vacation Vs Year Round School Nowadays, schools across the country tend to switch their schedule to a year round curriculum, which suggests that both teachers and students no longer have the traditional two months of summer vacation. However, many proponents of an extended summer vacation contend that long vacation each year is better for students. As the seemingly simple notion of several short vacations throughout the year triggers a firestorm of debate, we need to understand the realistic effects of several short vacations. If students have more frequent breaks, they can avoid the brain drain . Several short breaks also make it easier to get a fresh start when necessary. As those reasons no longer make sense in this modern era, I support year round education instead of nine month school year. In a nutshell, I think several short vacations are better than long summer vacation in many ways. Students are able to rest and regain energy in between the classes and exams, and their recollection of lesson is considerably enhanced. • 19. Last Orders By Graham Swift Last Orders by Graham Swift is a novel that tells the story of four men as they carry out the last wishes of the recently deceased Jack Dodds: that his ashes be scattered into the sea at Margate, a sea his family frequently visited. The story follows the four men on their journey to the sea through the eyes of Ray Johnson, one of Jack s war buddies. The novelis also composed of flashbacks through the eyes of several of the characters in the novel. The three other men, Vince Dodds, Lenny Tate, and Vic Tucker, are influential to the plot as they are all used to narrate flashbacks, as well. In Last Orders, Graham Swift uses these flashbacks to show how the characters are shaped by each other; he does this through the characters occupations and hobbies, relationships between couples, and relationships between parents and children. One way Swift introduces the characters to his audience is through their occupations. Despite his being dead, Jack remains the central character in the novel as many of the flashbacks reference Jack s occupation, a butcher. Jack is forced to be a butcher because he must carry on the family business, but it is revealed by Ray what he really wanted was to be a doctor (Swift 33). Given this, Jack shows ambivalence throughout the flashbacks about being a butcher. Alexandra Marginean contends that Jack praises the occupation as dignifying and manly, but at the same time resents it (272). However ambivalent he may be, Jack shows that he has ... I believe the media was too quick to judge the motives of the scholars by attacking their backgrounds. Just because their work was controversial doesn t mean it was subjective with underlying personal vendettas. It seems unlikely that a group... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most rebutted aspect of the work done by the scholars was their idiosyncrasy to equate unverifiable with unauthentic. Most scholars who study the elements attribute to the life of Jesus stand on common ground when it comes to the realization that many of the sayings and deeds associated to Jesus in the Gospels lack sufficient evidence to establish authenticity. However, to many scholars insufficient evidence means an element cannot be verified, and therefore should not be deemed as historical. In contrast, the Jesus Seminar went beyond this scope and maintained that Jesus did not say or did not do things that cannot be authenticated by evidence. For example, it is widely accepted that there is very little evidence to support whether or not Jesus was born from his virgin mother, Mary. As a result, this element of his life has just been something that one would believe on the foundation of religious faith rather than historical science. However, the Jesus Seminar applied a post Enlightenment historical scientific view to this element in order to determine authenticity. Under this assessment, they determined not only what is confirmable but what also is scientifically possible. Therefore, the scholars deemed the virgin birth as non historical, concluding that Jesus had been conceived through normal sexual intercourse between a male and female because it fit the paradigm known today. This stance held by the Jesus Seminar turn[s] a corner in the traditional understanding of the relationship that faith and philosophy bear to science and history (Powell, 115). For this reason, I reject the integrity of their work. I believe faith and philosophy should be kept separate of science and history, unless the two aim to support one another. Rescinding concepts of faith simply because they do fall within current scientific boundaries is illegitimate. The major flaw of the Jesus Seminar is their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reliability of compensatory health beliefs and the effect it has on alcohol consumption Abstract Aim The aim of the study was to investigate whether reading government guidelines on alcohol consumption would affect an individual s intentions to drink within the guidelines or not. The study is also focused on investigating the reliability of alcohol specific compensatory health belief scale using test retest and internal consistency measures. Introduction There has been a lot of recent research into compensatory health beliefs, in particular what activates these beliefs. Compensatory health beliefs are beliefs that a person activates as compensation after engaging in unhealthy behaviours. An example of this is someone believing that they can have a piece of cake as they are going to the gym later. They understand that the cake is unhealthy but try and compensate for that by doing something healthy to counteract it. This study focuses on compensatory health beliefs surrounding binge drinking in the UK. Binge drinking has become a serious problem in the UK, in 2012 13, there were an estimated 1,008,850 admissions related to alcohol consumption where an alcohol related disease, injury or condition was the primary reason for hospital admission or a secondary diagnosis. In an era where man rules, women have limited freedom and few rights. Women s roles differed little from Rome, Egypt, and China. There were few exceptions: women living in the city of Sparta had some nobility and rose to power, for example, Athena, the goddess of wisdom and military victory. Besides those above, women of that era were limited to an education, mobility, and their roles was housewives and childbearing. Women had little time to involve herself in the political goings on in that era. A woman s fate was controlled by the father and passed down to the husband afterwards. Women of the antiquity were married in their early teens to older husbands. The marriages were arranged by the Father s bride and often the bride did not meet the husband until marriage details had been worked out. Virginity was valuable for women in antiquity, as well loyalty and fidelity. For a woman to divorce it needed the permission from a male member of the family (the father). Women were not allowed to own land or dispose property as she pleases. Also, they are prohibited to participate in politics, buy goods or sell services. The scene took place in the Ancient Japan. The story of murder talked and showed a Japanese woman who got raped, and her husband getting killed in a sword fight. The Woodcutter who was one of the protagonists claimed that he saw the testimony through his very own eyes. However, there are four distinctive points of view, each telling their own side of the murder. Unfortunately, many of the Western movie critics misunderstood the film, or just simply oversimplified its meaning. They believed the true meaning of the story was the subjectivity of the truth, which is not what the story talked about but rather it s about the quicksand of ego. The quicksand of ego is an important term since its one of the many moral implications shown in Rashomon which ties nicely with philosophical topics as well as moral dialogue itself. Some plants force employees into working extraordinary amounts of hours, for example, a Price Waterhouse audit of Nike factories in China found that some require seven days of work per week. An Army At Dawn Essay The book An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa 1942 1943 gives the reader valuable insight into the campaign in North Africa in 1942 1943 for both Allied and the German forces. The narrative follows the American and British armies as they fought the Vichy French in Morocco and Algiers, and then later when they fight the Germans and the Italians for Tunisia. The novel follows the inexperienced and ill led soldiers from battle to battle as they gradually become a more cohesive and deadly fighting force. This novel also centers around the almost mythical but also flawed commanders who dominate the battlefield and write their names in the history books: Eisenhower, Patton, Bradley, Montgomery, and Rommel. The author, Patrick Atkinson, lays out a spectacular narrative on what was happening during Operation Torch and in the North African Campaign. In analyzing the narrative, the author s main points consist of the Allies (American and British) and German strategy/thinking during the campaign. The other main points consist of the ally defeats and failures during the campaign which resulted in them having to re strategize and rethink of how to defeat the Nazi forces under the command of Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel. As for China, hairstyles were not an easily changeable outlet for personal expression, but rather a symbol of everything from status to ethnicity to political ideals until the recent years after 1970s. In the ancient times, Confucius s philosophy of Filial Piety was deeply rooted in the mindsets of the people, and stated that one s body, hair and skin was granted by parents. Thus, it was considered extremely disrespectful to cut head hair. And in the Tang Dynasty, hairdos with different shapes evolved into a symbol of class status. Hairstyles were also used as an indicator of a woman s marriage status; an unmarried woman wore her hair down or tied in a single braid, while a married woman usually had her hair up in coils or a knot. In Africa, hairstyles were seen as a representation of one s tribe. Different styles hold different meanings to each tribe.
