Mcdonald s And Restaurant Brands International
McDonald s and Restaurant Brands International are some of the major companies in the burger
factory. McDonald s has been in the food business since the early 1950s but Restaurants Brands
International was created in 2014 by the merger of Burger King and a Canadian coffee shop and
a restaurant called Tim Hortons. There isn t much data on Brands International since its merger
in 2014 so current data being shown will come from the annual reports of 2014. Before the
merger, both McDonald s and Burger King were competing for the most customers and quality
of food. The research paper will try to provide all the financial statements of both food
companies. All information will try to be retain within the year of 2014 considering the merger
of Burger King has to also collect with the other two companies. Most people know that
McDonald s is highest major burger company; however, with the merger of Burger King and the
other two food companies, it rose up to the top 5 burger companies in the world. Now these food
companies are fighting for amount of revenue or customers to increase their size more. Restaurant

Heroin Drugs
The Habits That Hold You The Poppy plant that bloom with the fragrant red flowers often
depicted in paintings, as well as produces Poppy seeds to top breads and bagels, also makes the
substance in heroin. Heroin is highly addictive, it is an opioid drug. Organizations estimate 9.2
million people world wide are using heroin. Heroin is most often injected but can be snorted or
smoked as well. Research shows around 78 americans die everyday from opioid overdose s. this
ppaper will examine viewpoint one, two and my viewpoint on should cities open supervised
injection sites for heroin addicts.
To begin with, viewpoint one believes supervised injection sites prevent overdose deaths. For
starters, hospitals are trying to fill the void of not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, addiction is a medical issue including brain disease. First off, we need to understand that
not all addicts are bad people. Specifically, Stephanie O Neill USA today journalist, shares that
some of these addicts have just hit rock bottom in their lives. So therefore drugs is what they turn
to (O Neill). Thus, this point proves that not every person who uses is a bad person its just the
drugs that makes them make bad decisions. Secondly, we need safe injection sites that would go
beyond existing needle exchanges by allowing drug use on the premises. In fact, O Neill reports
that California is voting on a bill that would provide injection sites with health care providers
that will treat opioid overdose s. Therefore, this confirms that supervised sites offer care for
addicts. In addition, research shows supervised injection facilities in other countries have reduced
overdose s. To illustrate, O Neill tells us that other studies show that there has been a drop of 35%
in deaths since the injection sites have opened. Consequently, this information shows that by
providing medical help to addicts with brain disease deaths decrease. For all these reasons, this
shows us addiction is more than just a choice it s a disease. On the other hand, viewpoint two
contends that supervised injection sites enable addiction. To begin, injection sites enable addiction.
In other words, it still is not any more safe besides the fact that the

Abel Tesfaye Essay
Abel Tesfaye, other known as The Weeknd, is a newly arising artist. The 25 year old singer
became a roaring sensation after his release of a trio of highly acclaimed mixtapes. Those being
House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence. During the time these were released, Tesfaye
was completely mysterious, nobody knowing his real identity. This worked immaculately well
with the themes of his music, dark, sulky songs about meaningless sex and drug use. It was a
more revealing, less glamorous side of R B compared to the mainstream of the genre, this making
the Weeknd the next big thing. He eventually revealed his identity and was consistently making it
to the top ten of the Billboard charts with all his songs. He didn t seem like every other... Show

Now that he has gained attention, he s making music that would have been very unexpected
years ago. It all started in 2012, with the debut of Trilogy, a remastered collection of his original
2011 mixtapes. A year after, he released his official debut album, Kiss Land, which was similar
to his earlier work. However, many fans felt the more polished version took away from what
initially made them latch onto Tesfaye s work on songs like Wicked Games. But to grow you
must move forward. Tesfaye made a 180 and changed roles into a pop star when he released
Earned It in 2014, lead single from the soundtrack to Fifty Shades Of Grey. This song has a
much different vibe then many of The Weeknd s other songs, this being more symphonic and
magnificent. It was apparent that he was moving out of his traditional and adapted sound of
alternative R B to reach a bigger, more general audience. Can t Feel My Face was more out of
unlike him. This song having a funky, pop sound to it, produced by super producer Max Martin
sounds more like Michael Jackson than anything on past mixtapes. Tesfaye sounded happy on that
track, an emotion that he rarely, if ever, showed before. He even announced a collaboration with
pop singer Ed Sheeran, who is on the other side of the

Desperation Character Analysis
Having hope and courage is hard in a town like Desperation. A mining town controlled by an evil
spirit, Tak, that inhabits citizens, and it forces them to do unspeakable things. It first possesses a
cop, Collie Entragian, who kidnaps people and murders them. However, the Collie Entragian
survival crew has bravery at all times. In the book Desperationby Stephen King, King s message is
courage is a powerful tool. The main characters experience unimaginable torture and many
hardships. However, they keep going and face their fears.
David Carver was abducted with his family by Collie Entragian. He always has hope and is
faithful; he believes it was his job to serve and love God. Throughout the novel, he uses this to
motivate him. Within the first couple hours of being in Desperation, both his sister, father, and
mother were murdered. Although this is immensely tough, he tried to prevent this from
happening to others. For example, he risked his life to find another person. He stated, I can find
him. He s close...I m supposed to find him (King 596). David was courageous in this moment
because he knew the risks and still went out to find John Marinville. This action speaks volumes
about David s character and the overall theme. For example, David knew he could face a similar
fate as his family, but he fought against the demon. Instead of fearing what Takmight do, he
focused on helping others and escaping. He overcame Tak because of the courage he had, not by

Similarities And Differences Between Sherlock And Watson
Sherlock Holmes and Watson the most iconic duo from a novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle,
that have been reimagined many times over the years. Watson and Sherlock are both well rounded
characters with large differences that depend on each other in their quests to solve many murder
mysteries.
Dr. Watson the narrator for sherlock stories is a calm down to earth military doctor who works with
Sherlock throughout his investigations his character is dependent on Sherlock for many reasons. In
the live action television series Sherlock they made John Watson s dependence on sherlock very
apparent. Watson s therapist thinks he s traumatized from his war in afghanistan after getting shot

This builds their friendship since watson is the only person to not treat Sherlock like a freak.
Watson will often save Sherlock from dangers he put himself into. In the live action television
series Sherlock willingly got in the cab with the murderer and almost took the poison out of
desperation to outsmart the murder. If watson didn t follow them and kill the murder he could
have most likely died. We will never really know if Sherlock was in control of that situation but
watson showed up in time to make sure nothing bad happened to Sherlock and got more clues
off the murderer. Sherlock has Watson move in for a reason and it is obviously to help Sherlock
where he is weak. With watson being more humane than sherlock he can provide a different
perspective for cases and clues that sherlock can not easily see. In the television series sherlock,
Sherlock and Watson were inspecting a shoe left at a crime scene, Sherlock asked Watson of his
opinion about the shoe Watson can only say it has been used, and the size was large, therefore it
belongs to a male. Sherlock then commented on Watson s observation skills An outside eye, a
second opinion. It s very useful to me. . To Sherlock Watson was like and external piece of his
mind helping him think up the rest he could not. Watson works as a counterbalance, softening out

The Invention Of The Automobile Industry
The automobile industry is said to have its beginnings dating to the 19th century. Gottieb Daimler
and Wilhelm Maybach, of Germany, fitted their engine into a stagecoach in 1886 (Kindersley,
2011, 10). They were both successful at creating the first four wheeled, gas engine vehicle. It
reached a top speed of ten miles per hour. Each engine was still being fitted into stagecoaches
(Kindersley, 2011, 10). The industrial revolution introduced a wide array of new ideas for the
automobile. The ideas ranged from air cooled engines, single cylinder engines, steam powered
engines, electric cars, to a vehicle with a sliding gear transmission (Kindersley, 11, 2011). Other
ideas included overhead cam engines, and the introduction of the gearbox.

For the industry this became only the beginning. Many other innovative designs to the engine that
were introduced during this time are still in use today. In 1926, both Daimler Mercedes merged to
become Daimler Benz AG. This was as a result of the recession during that time which forced many
companies into joint ventures. Their cars were marketed under the name of Mercedes Benz.
During the 1930 s, the world was gripped by the second World War which saw the industry,
especially in Germany, being used to support ongoing war efforts again. The cars of Mercedes
were adored by the Third Reich and the cars were being used by motor racing as well
(Kindersley,15, 2011). This enabled the company more exposure later on. The 1930 s were hailed
as a time of great challenge especially with the onslaught of The Great Depression.
The world was met by the introduction of the station wagon and pick up truck in the 1940 s. The
station wagon was a reintroduced Land Rover, . . . the Land Rover s wider appeal led to demand
for a more civilized vehicle the 7 seater Station Wagon fulfilled that brief, (Kindersley,113, 2011).
The station wagon was designed as a working vehicle and that could carry a lot of people. The pick
up truck was unveiled by The Ford Motor Company and named The F Series. This became most

four years in the life of Kevin Lewis; the book also contains many elements of fiction. For
example, Kevin Lewis is a fictionalized and renamed representation of a real person while all of
the other characters are composites of more than one real person. Lewis is a graduate student at
MIT and is recruited by some of his roommates to participate in a group of organized card
counters. The group travels to Las Vegas or some other gambling destination on most weekends
and uses a variety of techniques to win at blackjack. Lewis is introduced to the techniques and
then trained in their use. He then begins working with the group and eventually becomes one of
their best players. Over time, the group s membership changes as older members are excluded and
new members are recruited. After about one year, Lewis is the head of his own team within the

A Brief Note On Electro Encephalography ( Eeg )
Electro encephalography : Electro Encephalography (EEG) is primarily an electrophysiological
monitoring method, recording the electrical activity of the brain. It involves placing electrodes
along the scalp, which measure voltage fluctuations resulting from the ionic flux across the brain
neurons. These are recorded graphically and typically referred to as brainwaves . Prior to the advent
of Computed Tomography (CTScan) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), EEG monitoring
was the primary diagnostic tool for stroke, epilepsy and other focal brain disorders. EEG
monitoring in the settings of cardiac surgery can be initiated before induction by anesthesia and
continues in the post operative phase , in the intensive care unit (ICU). EEG monitoring is useful
to detect seizures . The most common neurological symptoms manifest in the neonatal cardiac
surgical intensive care unit include Non convulsive seizures and Status Epilepticus; the primary
cause being Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy(HIC). Studies reveal that the incidents of HIC
increase in the presence of adverse events like cardiac arrest and also in the use of Mechanical
Circulatory Support, ECMO,etc. EEG can be influenced by the use of hypothermia and anesthetic
agents. Use of deep hypothermia leads to isoelectricity, a marker of reduction in cerebral
metabolism. The threshold for isoelectricty can be a useful indication for adequacy of

The Ethics of Using Corn or Rice to Make Fuel
Food and energy are the main issues that were mentioned the most in 21st century. The world
population has reached over seven billion by the time we are writing this essay (Worldometers,
2014). It means that the amount of food and energy consumed will be rising promptly. We do not
know whether people would choose food crops or fuel crops to satisfy their needs, but from our
point of view, producing ethanol by corn and rice is good for all economy, environment and social
benefits.
First, producing ethanol from corn or rice is really economic. The first benefit of corn based
ethanol would be on agriculture and industry. Corn is cheap and easy to produce domestically;
therefore, producers do not need to import raw material from foreign countries. Consequently,
ethanol price will be lower in comparison with other energy like oil or gas. It will lead to cheaper
transportation costs by using bio fuels. More importantly, transportations relate to every field of
the economy, so lower price of transportation will bring more profits to the whole economy.
Besides, price of corn also creep up since high demands of corn that impulse the planters income
and creating more jobs for farmers. In addition, when the government supports for corn production
on a concentrated area, maize agriculture will be more productive and effective than before. Both
consumers and producers can earn profits and that amount of profits will contributes significantly to
the nation s GDP growth. Thus, if we merge

Heart Diseases Atrial Septal Defect
Body System Atrial Septal Defect affects the cardiovascular system of a person s heart and affects
a person s life. The understanding of the heart and the process it completes in our bodies. As we
look into the difference of what the heart does and the challenges you go through when your heart is
not healthy. When we our born we our born with heart murmur s in which they are supposed to

The heart beats and pumps blood through our blood vessels, in which carries oxygen to our lungs.
There are three main types of blood vessels in the heart circulatory, in which are the Arties,
Capillaries, and Veins. The Arteries that is the aorta large artery carry oxygen blood away from the
heart, the branch becoming smaller as they carry blood further from the heart into organs.
Capillaries connect the arteries and veins allowing oxygen, nutrients and carbon dioxide pass
through the cells. Veins are the one that passes through the vessels and remove waste products from
our bodies.
The heart consists into three layers in which are endocardium, the myocardium, and the epicardium.
The endocardium is the inner layer of the heart (chambers and valves). The myocardium is the
middle muscular layer which is responsible for heart contraction. The epicardium is the outside

Comparing The Story Of The Old Testament And The New...
Utilizing the understanding of the later definition make is extremely easier to incorporate the
narrative of the Old Testament and the New Testament into one chronicle event moving along the
time line to teach and understand the mission of the church. It follows the events of knowing the
story and where the church came from and where it is headed. Clearly the church is not complete
as Jesushas not returned so the work is still on going. The story continues to be written. Christians
today, just as the Jewish people did back during the times of the Old Testament, need to know the
story and to do that we need to know the scriptures.
The question comes down to how the Old Testament and the New Testament would be formed into
one narrative to accomplish the goal of enhancing the understanding of the mission of the church.
To accomplish this task, I believe Christopher Wright, in his book, summarized the task very well.
If one looks at the Bible from an actual story line the flow from one Testament to the other does
exactly that; it flows. The Old Testament points to the New Testament and the New Testament
builds upon the Old Testament.
The four major sections of the biblical story are Creation, Fall, Redemption in History, and New
Creation . If people begin to think in terms of the Biblical story from Genesis through Revelation
and the realization that the story is not over, it will be simpler to understand how all the time eras
in the Bible relate to each other and

Leadership Theories
LEADERSHIP THEORIES.
1. Great Man Theories:
Have you ever heard someone described as born to lead? According to this point of view, great
leaders are simply born with the necessary internal characteristics such as charisma, confidence,
intelligence, and social skills that make them natural born leaders.
Great man theories assume that the capacity for leadership is inherent that great leaders are born,
not made. These theories often portray great leaders as heroic, mythic and destined to rise to
leadership when needed. The term Great Man was used because, at the time, leadership was
thought of primarily as a male quality, especially in terms of military leadership.
2. Trait Theories:
Similar in some ways to Great Man theories, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5. Behavioral Theories:
Behavioral theories of leadership are based upon the belief that great leaders are made, not born.
Consider it the flip side of the Great Man theories. Rooted in behaviorism, this leadership theory
focuses on the actions of leaders not on mental qualities or internal states. According to this theory,
people can learn to become leaders through teaching and observation.
Behavioral theories focus on how leaders behave. For instance, do leaders dictate what needs to be
done and expect cooperation? Or do they involve their teams in decision making to encourage
acceptance and support?
In the 1930s, Kurt Lewin developed a framework based on a leader s behavior. He argued that there
are three types of leaders:
1.Autocratic leaders make decisions without consulting their teams. This style of leadership is
considered appropriate when decisions need to be made quickly, when there s no need for input,
and when team agreement isn t necessary for a successful outcome.
2.Democratic leaders allow the team to provide input before making a decision, although the
degree of input can vary from leader to leader. This style is important when team agreement
matters, but it can be difficult to manage when there are lots of different perspectives and ideas.
3.Laissez faire leaders don t interfere; they allow people within the team to make many of the
decisions. This works well when the team is highly capable, is motivated, and doesn t need

The world today is full of information, that ranges from the smallest chip of a phone or the

Dating back to the 1920s, the word media has been introduced due to the golden age of American

these technologies. Eventually, people worldwide are influenced by how much these technologies

Three Major Problems of Global Politics
Final Exam Paper Decision making is a complex process that is influenced by many different
factors. Three major factors that affect global politics today include free ridership, groupthink, and
shadow of the past. These are problems that are central to scholars of I.R., and serve as obstacles
to achieving cooperation among countries. To better understand the impact of these issues, it will
be necessary to assess why each is important, and the theories that offer the best explanations of
their presence. By analyzing these aspects, reaching possible solutions will be much more
attainable and the more clear it will become as to how these problems are interconnected with each
other. Nearly interchangeable to the term freeloader, free ridership occurs when people take
advantage of something without contributing any amount of work themselves. Every I.R. scholar is
familiar with this term as well as is familiar with the problems it can produce in the international
arena. One of the most clearly seen examples of free ridership is the environment. Some countries
such as Switzerland and Iceland have elected to invest greatly in renewable energy and have since
experienced many benefits from such measures. There also exists, however, many countries of the
world that do very little to support the environment. China and the United States, the two richest
countries in the world are also among the most environmentally destructive countries. But why
would the world s richest countries do

Paints
Bottom paints and bottom paints for boats
Bottom paint is a covering applied to the lowermost point of a ship (hull) so as to get rid of
growing organisms that may attach to the boat especially at the lower parts or to protect the
metallic parts of the hull from corrosion. This is done to enhance the vessel s performance and
sturdiness.
Another added advantage is the improved contact between a free flow mass of water and the hull
of a speedy boat enabling the boat to sail at a much faster speed.
Modern bottom paints are composed of biocides (chemical substance that hamper growth of marine
organisms), organotin compounds and lethal copper. Types of bottom paints SPC (Self polishing

Wash the hull surface carefully with a wax remover solvent and clean rags before you begin
sanding. Otherwise sanding a waxed hull only draws the wax into the scratches making it hard to
remove it. Stir By using a paint shaker, run it for a few minutes so as to distribute the copper and
the dye evenly throughout the paint. If you don t have it, decant half of the paint into a blending
container so that you can blend the remaining half thoroughly without spilling paint onto the
ground. Maintain scouring up the copper off the base of the container until the base feels clean.
Mix in what you poured off up to a point when the paint is standardized in color and evenness.

Load the basin of your paint dish with paint and begin the painting using your roller. Be quick
because many bottom paints dry fast. Every time you top up the paint dish, begin with mixing the

In Mesoamerica and the Andes, two distinct Empires, the Aztecs and Incas, emerged from previous
cultures. Their developments in politics, religion, and in society had some similarities, but differed
as well based on their different geographical locations. To politically gain control of areas in the
Central and South America, the Aztecand Inca Empires had a period of fighting between local
chiefdoms and small states. The developments of sacrificial religions helped develop tribute and
labor empires. Socially, kinship based institutions emerged into a social hierarchy, creating an
organized state. The political, religious, and the social developments of the Aztec and Inca Empires
created two great cultures that are still present in the world... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Gaining partial control of Lake Texcoco and settling at Tenochtitlan, The
Aztecs began to develop regional politics. Aztec politics were based on military strength with a
slightly decentralized government because of constant expansion, causing less unity within the
Empire. Similarly, the Incas gained their political strength from imperial conquests. The kingdom
of Chimor was locate in the Andean region of South America. A series of military campaigns by
Inca leader, Pachacuti, led to the downfall of the Chimor, allowing the Incas to settle at Lake
Titicaca. Over the next few years, the Inca army was constantly expanding the empire in the region.
Unlike the Aztecs, however, Incan government was more complex and centralized, ultimately
creating a more stable empire. The Incas adopted split inheritance from the Chimor kingdom,
which all political power went to the ruler s successor, except for his
possessions, which went to the male decedent. The military nature of the Aztecs and Incas
developed similar political systems that was motivated to conquer more lands.
The religious developments of the Aztecs and Incas helped create tribute and

Essay on Amy Tan s Mother Tongue
Amy Tan s Mother Tongue
In Mother Tongue, Amy Tan talks about how language influenced her life while growing up.
Through pathos she explains to her audience how her experiences with her mother and the Chinese
language she came to realize who she wanted to be and how she wanted to write.
The author, Tan, has written the books The Joy Luck Club, and The Kitchen Gods Wife. She is
Asian American, her parents are originally from China, but moved to Oakland, California. The
audience in Tan s essay is people 20 35 years old who are culturally diverse. Tan focuses on this
audience in order reach out to those who are in her past situation. In her house, there were two
languages spoken: English and Chinese. Tan knew how to speak... Show more content on

She wants the audience to know right away that even though she is about to tell you the story of
a difficult childhood, she did reach her goal in the end. After making this statement, Tan dives
into her past and how she came to be where she is today. Her mother is the next most important
point of discussion. Her mother influenced her writing style as well as her beliefs about her
culture and heritage. ?Just last week, I was walking down the street with my mother, and I again
found myself conscious of the English I was using, the English I do use with her? (Tan, 2002, p.
36). The broken up English her mother uses is the next issue Tan focuses on. ??everything is
limited, including people?s perceptions of the limited English speaker? (Tan, 2002, p. 36). Lastly,
she talks about her education and the role it had on her deciding what she wanted to do with her
life. ?Fortunately, I happen to be rebellious in nature and enjoy the challenge of disproving
assumptions made about me? (Tan, 2002, p. 39). By structuring the essay in order of importance,
Tan reinforces her message that you can be anything you desire even with a different culture than
the norm.
The main rhetoric appeal used by Tan is pathos, the appeal to emotion. Language becomes an
obstacle for Tan because her mother speaks limited English. Amy must be an interpreter for her
mother in instances where her mother cannot communicate effectively. ?And sure enough, the

Spices And Its Effect On Food
Introduction
Spices, have been around for thousands of years. Spices would be used in food to flavor it,
giving it tastes like spicy or sour. The spices back then would be cherished as tradeable goods to
other countries for a trade of currency, but soon the early cultures found out that the spices they
were trading could be used to prevent food spoilage. As an antimicrobial, many spices could be
helpful to get rid of the bacteria that can be found on food, or to preserve the food as well.
Bacteria can spread from anywhere, through the air, from the ground, and even from a person s
hands right when food is about to be eaten. There are many spices used to preserve food like
onions, cinnamon, cloves, mustard, rosemary, sage, and black peppers. These kinds of spices are
classified as either strong, medium, or weak because of their inhibitory effect that they have with
bacteria. (Documents/Spices) Cinnamon is one of these spices with these strong inhibitory effects.
Cinnamon refers to the dried bark of different types of beverages and chocolates it can be made
into. Cinnamon would be used not only for food, but also used when making cosmetics. Not only
can cinnamon be used for food, but as a health promoting agent, to treat inflammation,
stomachaches, and urinary infections. (ncbi.nih.gov) Researchers have found that cinnamon can be
used as an antimicrobial factor to get reduce growth bacteria. (ncbi.nih.gov) Researchers soon
studied that cinnamon was one of the strongest and

Paradigm Vs Traditional Paradigm
A paradigm is a model of a situation or a mindset. Paradigms can be rigid or constantly developing
as you learn and grow, physically maturing or emotionally evolving. Initially, a paradigm was
referring to an accepted model or pattern. In Structure, Thomas Kuhn defined a paradigm simply as
a group of exemplary problem solutions universally accepted by the members of a scientific
community (Brad Wray, 2012). According to Kuhn, what constitute a paradigmare not abstract
theories, but concrete applications of the theories for solutions of typical problem. Paradigm can
provide new ways of understanding behaviors in humans such as in individuals, organization,

Traditionally, being white is superior across the board, while the alternative paradigm would
celebrate the rich color of diversity. A traditional paradigm that has gone on for centuries would
be the sales and promotion of white baby dolls. Until the modern day alternative paradigm shift
in the celebration of diversity, all children were presented with a white baby doll as a gift. This
paradigm skewed the thought of what a perfect baby looked like, leaving children and even adults
absorbing from the youngest age that white was superior. Currently, a child can find a doll to match
their hair color, eye color and skin color with facial features that reflect their ethnicity.
Charles Barkley once stated, I m not paid to be a role model. I m paid to wreak havoc on the
basketball court. This quote is a perfect example of the traditional paradigm illustrating
impersonal and a competitive mindset. Mr. Barkley felt no obligation to society and
demonstrated that his success was only about him and what he was paid to do. An alternative
paradigm for such a public figure would be LeBron James, The LeBron James Family Foundation
focuses on children, with James donating around $41 million in 2015 sending 1,100 kids to
school. Every child that finished his program will go to college for free. Additionally, James spoke

inventions, colonies, and roads to be formed, gave us religions, and gave us the languages and

The Is A Conflict And Concern
Mislabeling as a Conflict and Concern Despite the many positives that come with labeling,
mislabeling is negative that hurts labeling legislation. Mislabeling can negatively effects consumers
by not allowing them to make informed decisions regarding their labeled purchases and possibly
harming their health due to incorrect mercury intake. Mislabeling also hurts fisheries because
threatened species may be under more fishing pressure than previously assumed. Lastly, mislabeling
breaks import and export seafoodregulations both internationally and nationally (Jacquet, 2008).
Fishermen and seafood companies are misrepresenting their product for one reason and that is
financial incentives. Unwanted species can be renamed to sound more appetizing, increasing profits
in return (Jacquet, 2008).
Mislabeling causes a lack of traceability and an issue in re labeling. For example a report
discovered that illegal amounts of Patagonian tooth fish enter the U.S. hidden amongst other
seafood or under another name, frozen fish fillet or crayfish (Jacquet, 2007/2008). Even more
recently Oceana, an Ocean conservation group, revealed a study that 30% of sold shrimp products
in the United States are misrepresented. Of that 30%, 15% of the tested shrimp are completely
mislabeled in production method (wild caught vs. farm raised) or species type (LeTrent, 2014).
Some of Oceana s results, reported in Figure 1, show the alarming amount of mislabeled fish in

The Corps Of Discovery And The Native Americans
On February 28, 1803, President Thomas Jefferson, with the approval of congress, created the
Corps of Discovery. Their mission was to map the newly acquired western lands of the Louisianna
Purchase, almost 1803 828,000 square miles of unexplored territory, as well as find a route to the
Pacific Ocean. This expedition was led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. During their
adventure, the group encountered many hostile Native American groups, and if not for Sacagawea,
these tribes would have surely jeopardized their operation. Due to her role as a helpful guide,
Sacagawea was crucial in the encounter between the Corps of Discovery and the Native
Americans because she negotiated and traded between the groups, functioned as a peace token, and
served as an interpreter. Sacagawea was born in 1788 in Lemhi County, Idaho and was part of the
Shoshonetribe for which her father was the chief. Her childhood was ruined when her tribe was
attacked by the Hidatsa tribe when she was 11 years old. She was captured as a slave and taken
to what is not North Dakota. She spent a miserable few years with the hostile tribe before being
sold to a French Canadian trapper and fur trader named Toussaint Charbonneau. They lived among
the Hidatsa and Mandan Indians in North Dakota. She was still a young teenager when he forced
her to marry him and she became his second wife. One day, the Corps of Discovery were traveling

How could you ever teach me to be a proper wife? Your wife? (Ibsen 82). To this question Torvald
is unable to provide a reasonable answer hence proving Nora s point about the failure of their
marriage. Further, the sudden change in Nora s behavior during the second half of the play is
significant as it symbolizes her clear intent to depart from the house in search of her inner self.
The egression of one of the female protagonists from each of the works has a profound effect of
the other characters and their development. The departure of Gertrudis is met with both extreme
anger and sadness opposite emotions. Mama Elena s reaction to Gertrudis elopement is one of
absolute outrage. She in a way almost disowns Gertrudis by burned [burning] Gertrudis birth

the Greeks. Similarly, with the Romans and Macedonians their conquest and implementation of
their culture was the main source of the spread of Hellenistic culture. However the combination of
controlling more regions and being more involved with global trade, the Romans were able to
further expand Greek influence than those before them. Soon the Roman Empire began to decline
and an even more impactful implementation of Greek culture began to arise in a region to the east.
As the Roman Empire fell and small Kingdoms began to arise throughout Europe, in a different
region of the world, an intellectual revolution began and flourished. During a period between the
eighth and ninth centuries, the Islamic world of the Middle East Experienced its Golden Age .
This was a period of advancements in the sciences, astronomy, mathematics, and medicine. The

Discourse Analysis In Carl Sanburg s Grass
When analyzing a poem, it is important to understand the language that is being used. When
applying discourse theory to a poem, it is important to analyze the language beyond the sentence
itself. Discourse analysis studies the natural use of language, rather than the invented examples. The
main objective of discourse analysis is to create a better understanding of how language is used
through textual features and what effects it has on that investment. Texts often require these
features that enables the reader to understand the motivation of that author. In his poem, Grass, Carl
Sanburg utilizes verbs, proper nouns, and nouns to efficiently erase the signs of the past. In the
poem, Grass, the author uses many linguistic features throughout the poem, verbs being one of
them. Verbs are defined as words that are used to describe an action or a state, forming the main
objective of the sentence. Sanburg uses verbs consistently throughout his poem to describe the
actions in the poem. The first sentence of the poem states, Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and
Waterloo (Sanburg). He uses the wordpile, which can be inferred as a nounor a verb, which in this
sentence is used as a verb. The verb pile can infer two different meanings, one defined as placing
things one on top of another whereas the second meaning defines the entry of a large group in a
disorganized manner. The application of this word symbolizes the insignificant importance of these
bodies that now lay atop one

In Flaubert s satiric novel, the story s apothecary is used to convey Flaubert s views of the
bourgeois. As a vehicle for Flaubert s satire, Homais is portrayed as opportunistic and self serving,
attributes that Flaubert associated with the middle class. Homais obsession with social mobility
leads him to commit despicable acts. His character and values are also detestable. He is self
serving, hypocritical, opportunistic, egotistical, and crooked. All these negative characteristics are
used by Flaubert to represent and satirize specific aspects of middle class society. More specific
issues that are addressed include Homais superficial knowledge, religious hypocrisy, and

Homais was suffering as he listened to this sermon, and he hid his discomfort behind a courtier s

selfishly sacrifices his dignity in order to protect the more serious interests of his business. He
abides the insults and swallows his pride in order to appease the doctor. Afterwards, to comfort his

Homais interests lies with protecting himself and not the well being of Hippolyte, whom he has
ruined.
In a similar incident, Homais attempts to cure the sight of a blind beggar. In an act of blind
confidence and pretentiousness he assures the blind beggar that he can restore his sight, the
apothecary guaranteed that he would cure the man himself, with an antiphlogiston ointment of his
own creation, and he gave his address (Bovary 280). However, like the incident with Hippolyte,
Homais utterly fails and only succeeds in aggravating the beggar s condition. To hide his failure

Constitution Vs Us Constitution Research Paper
A Constitution is an arrangement of standards and rules for a government, partnership or other
associations. A Constitution is frequently alluded to as the key law or most noteworthy law , since
it is the wellspring of administrative power at the end of the day, all law production energy of
parliaments, their subordinate bodies and the courts is gotten from the Constitution. Constitutions
additionally diagram the structure and system of government. On September 17, 1787 the U.S.
constitution was established, this guaranteed certain basic rights for citizens of the United States.

This is generally because of it being a previous British province, so its constitutional law has
evolved in rather the British way. State Constitutions differ from the United States constitution,
because The U.S. Constitution is solid on what to do and what not to do however gives
surprisingly little direction on how to do it, however most state Constitutions all have a typical
defect: they attempt to address an excessive number of themes and give an excessive number of
orders to what to do and how to do it, much of the time with intense detail. Two ways in which the
Constitution of Texas is different from the U.S., are that the U.S. Constitution has not been
rewritten and the Texas Constitution has been rewritten several times. Also, the U.S. Constitution
has strong separation of powers and strong legislative, Executive, Judicial branches, and the Texas
Constitution has weak separation of powers of plural executive (the division of the governor s
power among several other elected officials) limits governor

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Renting A Coper Rentals
Virtually all offices have copier machines that employees use for their daily maneuvers. However,
maximum of these businesses do not categorically purchase their own machines. Rather, they just
rent copier machines from other firms. What makes copier rentals so prevalent? Is it actually a
superior option than buying your own copier unit? The answer for maximum businesses is yes,
there are lots of advantages when opting for copier rentals than essentially purchasing a unit for
their workplace.
At the outset, if you purchase your own copier machine or even toner cartridge, you will have the
solitary accountability of maintenance, overhauls and other such errands that could take a lot of
your valued time and effort. If you use a copier machine on rent, you will have enormously less
apprehension about these problems. Maximum copier rental supplier or firms offer free service
and maintenances to their clienteles. When your copier machine breakdowns, all you have to do is
contact the copier rental firm and they will offer repair assistance for free or for a very minimal
amount. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An imperative thing to remember when renting a copier machine is to make certain that a manual
is incorporated when your unit is delivered. Copiers have diverse features and you may have a
hard hitting time reckoning how to operate your copier rental, particularly if it is very different
from what you are used to. Maximum rental companies will be cheerful to walk you through the
features of your rented copier. So, if you were thinking about purchasing a machine and your
budget is not adequate, remember that you can always use copier rentals. They may be more
economical for your business. Since the copiers are leased out to countless different firms, it is
vital to ensure that the machines are in good shape before signing any contracts for them so that
you can sidestep lots of trouble that can

Research Paper On Putin
Political Profile: Russian President Vladimir Putin Placing Vladimir Putin accurately on the
political spectrum presents several challenges. First, Russia s political system does not conform
to western norms and therefore the standard definitions are not always appropriate. Putin, who
spent a career in the KGB, is seen as highly secretive. He does not make frequent public speeches,
and in general, Russian leaders do not typically feel the need to explain policy decisions or their
rationale to the general populace. This makes it difficult to determine to what degree necessity and
practicality motivates Putin s decisions versus his own political philosophy. The lack of
transparency in the Russian system further precludes detailed assessment or evaluation of leaders
and their decisions such as would be demanded in western democracies. The Russian state owns
85% of the national media, rendering independent and unbiased scrutiny impossible. For all these
reasons, Putin is enigmatic to most of the world outside his own country and therefore determining
his personal political philosophy is not an easy task.

This is because the President has broad authority to issue decrees and directives that have the
force of law without legislative review, which means power is concentrated in the office of the
President, instead of in the hands of the electorate. This follows a long tradition of strong central
leadership dating back to the Tsars. Putin s party, United Russia, does not have a well defined
platform or ideology insofar as the party itself was created by Putin and exists to support his
policies, as opposed to western democratic systems where the leader expresses and represents the
views of the party. Insofar as defining Putin on the political spectrum, most experts consider him to
be an authoritarian right wing

The Purpose Of Spanish Colonization
The Spanish came to the Americas with the purpose of colonization in 1519. Colonization was not
only engaged by Spain. Even Though there were European powers colonizing the Americas; Spain
was the most successful power specifically because of its economic structure. Spanish colonization
affected many factors as in religion, politics and environment. Spaniards got involved in wars
fighting for territory, trade routes, and ports. Natives were forced to embrace Spanish religion,
follow the crown s will and pay taxes to pay Spanish debt. Moreover Spanish made Natives their

It has 17 regions, 122 cities, and 42,025 barangays. The Philippines were colonized by three

The Effects of Environmental Factors on the Absorbance of...
Introduction
In this experiment, the gram negative bacterium Escherichia coli is being subjected to various
environmental factors that affect the rate of growth. These factors scrutinized were the different
types of nutrients, the intensity of aeration, or the temperature at which it was stored. The purpose
of this lab is to determine which factor affects the Escherichia coli the greatest. It is known that
these abiotic factors affect the rate of growth the greatest if they remain at the correct conditions for
living.
Escherichia coli and other bacteria will go through four phases; a lag phase, log phase, stationary

We took readings every 15 minutes, until the class was over which was at the 90 minute mark.
For the temperature and aeration trials, the test tubes of Escherichia coli with tryptic soy broth
(TSB) were measured using identical procedures as the nutrient trials were tested. Before every
sample, we had to re zero the spectrophotometer with a blank test tube, and then we took the
reading from the cultured tubes. As we did for the nutrient experiments, we also took the readings
from the temperature and aeration samples every 15 minutes. The temperature test tube was
prepared by exposing it to room temperature (25В°C), another test tube in an oven (33В°C), and
the test tube in a lab oven which was slightly warmer, at 37В°C.
In the aeration samples, one flask was stationary and it was exposed to the atmosphere. The second
sample was put in a regular flask, and placed in a shaking water bath. The third sample was placed
in an irregular shaped flask, which was also placed in the quivering water bath. After treatment, all
the samples were measured on the spectrophotometer, using the same procedure as the nutrient
samples and temperature samples.
Results
The results showed that the experimental data did not necessarily display the lowest MGT. For the
nutrient data, the MSG had a mean generation time of an hour, the MSGT had a doubling time of
less than 13 minutes, and the MSGTYE had a mean generation time

Hinduism And Buddhism Essay
3.1.16 S.Reilly Term 2 Exam Essay In this term, I started Faith Traditions class and we learned
about the Hinduism and Buddhism and the eight elements of religion: Belief System,
Community, Central Myths, Ritual, Ethics, Characteristic Emotional Experience. The way
Belief System(world view), Ethics, and Sacredness in Buddhism can be compared and
contrasted to my own philosophy is intriguing. I believe that I agree with not all, but some of the
elements of Buddhism, but where I do differ, I differ greatly. Buddhism s World View can be
summed up by the Three Marks of Reality. The Marks are Change ( life s constant change, or
impermanence ), No Permanent Identity ( no self ), and Suffering ( dissatisfaction [with life] )
(Molloy pg. 132 134). Change is that life is always subtly changing second to second. No
Permanent Identity is that each person and each thing is not only changing but is made up of
parts that are also constantly changing (Molloy pg. 133) Lastly, Suffering is the fact that life,
when lived conventionally, can never be fully satisfying because of its inescapable change
(Molloy pg. 134). Now, my world view is similar to Buddhism and it also comprises of three parts.
The parts are that the world is always in turmoil, we can never be... Show more content on

Buddhism has very deep concern with things that are sacred which they have many of. Statues of
Buddha, temples(monasteries), written works(Tripitaka, Mahayana Sutras), ect. Buddhism is big
on sacred objects. I personally feel that sacredness is less about the spirituality/mysticism or the
dedication to the religion of an object/place, but more of the importance of the object to a person.
Things that are sacred in a religious sense are incredibly important to the religion(everyone in that
religion), but really anything can be sacred. To me, sacredness depends on perspective. An Atheist
might not consider the Rig Vedas to be sacred, but the work of Stephen Hawking might be to them,

The Beautiful University City of Cambridge
The beautiful city of Cambridge has an enviable reputation as one of the world s greatest
universities as well as being an agreeable place to live and work. The inhabitants enjoy low
unemployment, a cluster of good schools and plenty of green spacious parkland. The river Cam
provides a focal point in the summer with its flotilla of punts gliding around gentle bends overhung
with lush willows.
Two vibrant communities
Cambridge is a city of two vibrant communities, that despite a chequered past of friction and
confrontation now seem to co exist with ease. Both the students and locals go about their business,
almost independent of each other. Many scholars are completely unaware of the delights the city
has to offer away from the seclusion of their learned places and locals would be hard pressed to tell
you where any university building was apart from King s College Chapel and maybe the
University Library, with its huge soaring tower. Most central colleges face inward to courtyards
hidden behind castle like buildings, giving no clue to the enclosed delights (that can include a lake
with huge fish). Secret and enchanting places only accessed by gatehouses guarded by porters
keepers of the portcullis. Within the city boundaries are a dense collection of architectural styles
ranging from medieval, Jacobean, classical and Victorian. This city is an architectural historians
paradise where examples of one style evolving into another are abundant.

Manic Existence Of Turtles
On the Manic Existence of Turtles
Introduction
Turtles are strange creatures.
They re not the end all of strangeness, but they are irritatingly close to that line.
They hang in the balance, so close to being outcast by animal society, yet so very far from it.
If you asked someone what their favourite sort of animal is, and they said turtles, you wouldn t
scoff or think they were strange, you would nod and it s possible that the situation would simply
devolve into an everyday conversation about ocelots, as most situations do.
However, if that person said that their favourite animal is the spiny, melted jelly bean like echidna,
you might question that person and their mental state at the time, when really, they re on par with
each other.

Softshell Turtles
Never has there been an animal that looks so much like a soggy burrito, a hotdog, and a dinosaur
engaged in a night of passion and somehow birthed a turtle.
Have you seen softshell turtles?
Usually, I like things with soft shells, and find them bearable or even pleasant to look at. (E.g., soft
shell tacos, soft shell crabs in most circumstances, soft shell coats, etc.)
Softshell turtles broke that already broad reasoning; they absolutely shattered what I thought was a
fairly open perception of what turtles really are.
What is a turtle? All signs point to the defining features of turtles as being scales, a shell, and a
look that says, I want to murder the human race, but that also implies mercy and a lack of effort
towards that cause.
Softshell turtles barely have shells, have fairly smooth skin, and look as if they re currently on a
killing spree that will halt for no man, woman, or child.
They look like the spawn of a soggy burrito, a hot dog, and a dinosaur, as previously stated; they
don t look very much like the turtles we ve all come to know and be creeped out

United Essay
Throughout first year Sem we have talked about a lot of different subjects that ultimately tie all
together as one. The main theme for the year is a call to family and community. To go over this
we read United by Cory Booker. United wasn t just used to be read but it was used to help us
think and connect to what is going on in the real world. To use this connection we used examples
of current events, to use a real world application. In doing this it s made me think more about the
world and what could be done to help with the little issues. In current events we had talked about
many different things. Mostly they consisted of politics, race or killings all around the world.

One of my favorite events that happened this semester during first year sem was hearing the
voices from inside. Getting to hear these quick poems that these women wrote was amazing.
Most were good and came from the heart. Hearing from these women made me want to talk with
some of them after. When I did go to talk to them I heard about some of their experiences and get
to know why doing this program helps. Some of them were into some hard stuff and lost some
of their family and loved ones because of it. They get ten minutes to write their piece and they
really write what they are thinking. Some talk about their time in jail through a poem and others
talk about what it was like before getting convicted. It would be fun to hear more from them.
Another thing we did was have a talk with Alaina DiGeorgio about having privilege. Doing the
bead activity made you think about what privilege you have. Going through the list made you
think more about what people actually go through on a daily basis. Some people don t get the
items that we have or even the family and friends we might have. There are so many new issues
happening in the world people are losing out on some of the great things that we have as well.
The last activity I talked about ties into United a little bit. Reading United I was reminded about
ow little people only a few hours away have. If they had done the bead activity it would be harder
for them because maybe they might not have the same experiences we have.

Who Is Anne Shirley A Dynamic Character
Both Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery and Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese focus on
the troubled past of the protagonist characters, and the influence their personal histories have on the
growth and development of the individuals as they enter adulthood and come to terms with
themselves. A great milestone in the transition between childhood and adulthood is self acceptance,
and learning from your past. Anne of Green Gablestells the story of Anne Shirley, a young
romanticist who struggles to find balance between her lively imagination and the realities of
growing up. Anne finds herself in all sorts of trouble as she tries to adjust in her new home, and is

Anne retreats to her imagination to create a dream world, which often acts as a contrast to the
environment she lives in. Upon entering Avonlea, Anne s daydreams and fantasies often pull her
away from reality, and she struggles to understand the social normalities and expectations within her
community. Even in Anne s earliest days at Green Gables, the reader gets a sense of her fanciful
and dramatic character. Throughout the novel, she often expresses her distaste in her appearance;
and is especially wordy when discussing her bright red hair, I could endure anything if I only
thought my hair would be a handsome auburn when I grew up. It would be so much easier to be
good if one s hair was a handsome auburn, don t you think? (page 65). One of Anne Shirley s
most defining traits is her use of playful language. When discussing aspects of her life which she
finds displeasing, she will re imagine the situation in a more extravagant and romantic way and, in
many cases, her fantasies are excessive and

Next, addiction is a medical issue including brain disease. First off, we need to understand that not all addicts are bad people. Specifically, Stephanie O Neill USA today journalist, shares that some of these addicts have just hit rock bottom in their lives. So therefore drugs is what they turn to (O Neill). Thus, this point proves that not every person who uses is a bad person its just the drugs that makes them make bad decisions. Secondly, we need safe injection sites that would go beyond existing needle exchanges by allowing drug use on the premises. In fact, O Neill reports that California is voting on a bill that would provide injection sites with health care providers that will treat opioid overdose s. Therefore, this confirms that supervised sites offer care for addicts. In addition, research shows supervised injection facilities in other countries have reduced overdose s. To illustrate, O Neill tells us that other studies show that there has been a drop of 35% in deaths since the injection sites have opened. Consequently, this information shows that by providing medical help to addicts with brain disease deaths decrease. For all these reasons, this shows us addiction is more than just a choice it s a disease. On the other hand, viewpoint two contends that supervised injection sites enable addiction. The 25 year old singer became a roaring sensation after his release of a trio of highly acclaimed mixtapes. Those being House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence. During the time these were released, Tesfaye was completely mysterious, nobody knowing his real identity. This worked immaculately well with the themes of his music, dark, sulky songs about meaningless sex and drug use. It was a more revealing, less glamorous side of R B compared to the mainstream of the genre, this making the Weeknd the next big thing. It all started in 2012, with the debut of Trilogy, a remastered collection of his original 2011 mixtapes. A year after, he released his official debut album, Kiss Land, which was similar to his earlier work. However, many fans felt the more polished version took away from what initially made them latch onto Tesfaye s work on songs like Wicked Games. But to grow you must move forward. Tesfaye made a 180 and changed roles into a pop star when he released Earned It in 2014, lead single from the soundtrack to Fifty Shades Of Grey. This song has a much different vibe then many of The Weeknd s other songs, this being more symphonic and magnificent. It was apparent that he was moving out of his traditional and adapted sound of alternative R B to reach a bigger, more general audience. Can t Feel My Face was more out of unlike him. This song having a funky, pop sound to it, produced by super producer Max Martin sounds more like Michael Jackson than anything on past mixtapes. A mining town controlled by an evil spirit, Tak, that inhabits citizens, and it forces them to do unspeakable things. It first possesses a cop, Collie Entragian, who kidnaps people and murders them. However, the Collie Entragian survival crew has bravery at all times. In the book Desperationby Stephen King, King s message is courage is a powerful tool. The main characters experience unimaginable torture and many hardships. However, they keep going and face their fears. David Carver was abducted with his family by Collie Entragian. He always has hope and is faithful; he believes it was his job to serve and love God. Throughout the novel, he uses this to motivate him. Within the first couple hours of being in Desperation, both his sister, father, and mother were murdered. Although this is immensely tough, he tried to prevent this from happening to others. For example, he risked his life to find another person. He stated, I can find him. He s close...I m supposed to find him (King 596). David was courageous in this moment because he knew the risks and still went out to find John Marinville. This action speaks volumes about David s character and the overall theme. For example, David knew he could face a similar fate as his family, but he fought against the demon. Instead of fearing what Takmight do, he focused on helping others and escaping. • 11. A Brief Note On Electro Encephalography ( Eeg ) Electro encephalography : Electro Encephalography (EEG) is primarily an electrophysiological monitoring method, recording the electrical activity of the brain. It involves placing electrodes along the scalp, which measure voltage fluctuations resulting from the ionic flux across the brain neurons. These are recorded graphically and typically referred to as brainwaves . Prior to the advent of Computed Tomography (CTScan) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), EEG monitoring was the primary diagnostic tool for stroke, epilepsy and other focal brain disorders. EEG monitoring in the settings of cardiac surgery can be initiated before induction by anesthesia and continues in the post operative phase , in the intensive care unit (ICU). EEG monitoring is useful to detect seizures . The most common neurological symptoms manifest in the neonatal cardiac surgical intensive care unit include Non convulsive seizures and Status Epilepticus; the primary cause being Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy(HIC). Studies reveal that the incidents of HIC increase in the presence of adverse events like cardiac arrest and also in the use of Mechanical Circulatory Support, ECMO,etc. EEG can be influenced by the use of hypothermia and anesthetic agents. Use of deep hypothermia leads to isoelectricity, a marker of reduction in cerebral metabolism. The threshold for isoelectricty can be a useful indication for adequacy of ... The world population has reached over seven billion by the time we are writing this essay (Worldometers, 2014). It means that the amount of food and energy consumed will be rising promptly. We do not know whether people would choose food crops or fuel crops to satisfy their needs, but from our point of view, producing ethanol by corn and rice is good for all economy, environment and social benefits. First, producing ethanol from corn or rice is really economic. The first benefit of corn based ethanol would be on agriculture and industry. Corn is cheap and easy to produce domestically; therefore, producers do not need to import raw material from foreign countries. Consequently, ethanol price will be lower in comparison with other energy like oil or gas. It will lead to cheaper transportation costs by using bio fuels. More importantly, transportations relate to every field of the economy, so lower price of transportation will bring more profits to the whole economy. Besides, price of corn also creep up since high demands of corn that impulse the planters income and creating more jobs for farmers. In addition, when the government supports for corn production on a concentrated area, maize agriculture will be more productive and effective than before. Both consumers and producers can earn profits and that amount of profits will contributes significantly to the nation s GDP growth. Thus, if we merge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Comparing The Story Of The Old Testament And The New... Utilizing the understanding of the later definition make is extremely easier to incorporate the narrative of the Old Testament and the New Testament into one chronicle event moving along the time line to teach and understand the mission of the church. It follows the events of knowing the story and where the church came from and where it is headed. Clearly the church is not complete as Jesushas not returned so the work is still on going. The story continues to be written. Christians today, just as the Jewish people did back during the times of the Old Testament, need to know the story and to do that we need to know the scriptures. The question comes down to how the Old Testament and the New Testament would be formed into one narrative to accomplish the goal of enhancing the understanding of the mission of the church. To accomplish this task, I believe Christopher Wright, in his book, summarized the task very well. If one looks at the Bible from an actual story line the flow from one Testament to the other does exactly that; it flows. The Old Testament points to the New Testament and the New Testament builds upon the Old Testament. The four major sections of the biblical story are Creation, Fall, Redemption in History, and New Creation . If people begin to think in terms of the Biblical story from Genesis through Revelation and the realization that the story is not over, it will be simpler to understand how all the time eras in the Bible relate to each other and ... According to this point of view, great leaders are simply born with the necessary internal characteristics such as charisma, confidence, intelligence, and social skills that make them natural born leaders. Great man theories assume that the capacity for leadership is inherent that great leaders are born, not made. These theories often portray great leaders as heroic, mythic and destined to rise to leadership when needed. The term Great Man was used because, at the time, leadership was thought of primarily as a male quality, especially in terms of military leadership. 2. Behavioral Theories: Behavioral theories of leadership are based upon the belief that great leaders are made, not born. Consider it the flip side of the Great Man theories. Rooted in behaviorism, this leadership theory focuses on the actions of leaders not on mental qualities or internal states. According to this theory, people can learn to become leaders through teaching and observation. Behavioral theories focus on how leaders behave. For instance, do leaders dictate what needs to be done and expect cooperation? Or do they involve their teams in decision making to encourage acceptance and support? In the 1930s, Kurt Lewin developed a framework based on a leader s behavior. He argued that there are three types of leaders: 1.Autocratic leaders make decisions without consulting their teams. This style of leadership is considered appropriate when decisions need to be made quickly, when there s no need for input, and when team agreement isn t necessary for a successful outcome. 2.Democratic leaders allow the team to provide input before making a decision, although the degree of input can vary from leader to leader. This style is important when team agreement matters, but it can be difficult to manage when there are lots of different perspectives and ideas. 3.Laissez faire leaders don t interfere; they allow people within the team to make many of the decisions. • 18. Three Major Problems of Global Politics Final Exam Paper Decision making is a complex process that is influenced by many different factors. Three major factors that affect global politics today include free ridership, groupthink, and shadow of the past. These are problems that are central to scholars of I.R., and serve as obstacles to achieving cooperation among countries. To better understand the impact of these issues, it will be necessary to assess why each is important, and the theories that offer the best explanations of their presence. By analyzing these aspects, reaching possible solutions will be much more attainable and the more clear it will become as to how these problems are interconnected with each other. Nearly interchangeable to the term freeloader, free ridership occurs when people take advantage of something without contributing any amount of work themselves. Every I.R. scholar is familiar with this term as well as is familiar with the problems it can produce in the international arena. One of the most clearly seen examples of free ridership is the environment. Some countries such as Switzerland and Iceland have elected to invest greatly in renewable energy and have since experienced many benefits from such measures. Mislabeling can negatively effects consumers by not allowing them to make informed decisions regarding their labeled purchases and possibly harming their health due to incorrect mercury intake. Mislabeling also hurts fisheries because threatened species may be under more fishing pressure than previously assumed. Lastly, mislabeling breaks import and export seafoodregulations both internationally and nationally (Jacquet, 2008). Fishermen and seafood companies are misrepresenting their product for one reason and that is financial incentives. Unwanted species can be renamed to sound more appetizing, increasing profits in return (Jacquet, 2008). Mislabeling causes a lack of traceability and an issue in re labeling. For example a report discovered that illegal amounts of Patagonian tooth fish enter the U.S. hidden amongst other seafood or under another name, frozen fish fillet or crayfish (Jacquet, 2007/2008). When applying discourse theory to a poem, it is important to analyze the language beyond the sentence itself. The main objective of discourse analysis is to create a better understanding of how language is used through textual features and what effects it has on that investment. Texts often require these features that enables the reader to understand the motivation of that author. First, Russia s political system does not conform to western norms and therefore the standard definitions are not always appropriate. Putin, who spent a career in the KGB, is seen as highly secretive. He does not make frequent public speeches, and in general, Russian leaders do not typically feel the need to explain policy decisions or their rationale to the general populace. This makes it difficult to determine to what degree necessity and practicality motivates Putin s decisions versus his own political philosophy. The lack of transparency in the Russian system further precludes detailed assessment or evaluation of leaders and their decisions such as would be demanded in western democracies. The way Belief System(world view), Ethics, and Sacredness in Buddhism can be compared and contrasted to my own philosophy is intriguing. I believe that I agree with not all, but some of the elements of Buddhism, but where I do differ, I differ greatly. Buddhism s World View can be summed up by the Three Marks of Reality. The Marks are Change ( life s constant change, or impermanence ), No Permanent Identity ( no self ), and Suffering ( dissatisfaction [with life] ) (Molloy pg. 132 134). Change is that life is always subtly changing second to second. No Permanent Identity is that each person and each thing is not only changing but is made up of parts that are also constantly changing (Molloy pg. 133) Lastly, Suffering is the fact that life, when lived conventionally, can never be fully satisfying because of its inescapable change (Molloy pg. 134).
