Housing and Equipment for
    herds and flocks
Purpose of the shelters:

o It provides comfort, and promotes a healthy
condition which allows normal growth and
    development.
o Protects the animals from cold, heat,
    dampness, wind, and filth.
Advantages/Benefits:

o Increases profits.
o Increased production of eggs, milk, and meat.
o Decreased losses due to pest and diseases.
Disadvantages:

o Time Consuming.
o It needs some effort to build.
o It needs a lot of money for the labor and to
    the materials needed.
Providing housing for poultry:
Locations for a good housing for the animals.
o Well-drained slope.
o Should have several trees to protect the
  house/cage from strong wind.
o Give partial shade during the rainy and dry
  season.
o It has a source of water.
o Near to market.
Providing and using Equipment and
 accessories for poultry.

o A successful poultry production depends
partly upon the accessories and equipment
that a poultry raiser will provide the flock.
o The equipment need not to be elaborate and
    expensive.
1. Perches – these are slender poles about
3-5 cm in diameter and generally made from
 bamboo poles.
Dropping board- this is usually placed in
the cage to keep the floor clean by catching
the chicken manure. It helps keep down
possible infections, aids in keeping the litter
clean, and reduces the labor involved in
 cleaning the house.
Nest- all types of breeds of poultry have a
nesting habit. They find some secluded spot,
usually dark, to lay their eggs. This natural
tendency to nest is largely for protective
reasons. Also for keeping the eggs from rats,
 dogs and cats.
Waterers or drinking troughs- One of
the essential requisites in the economic
management of all types or breeds of poultry
is a constant supply of fresh, clean, cool
 water.
THE END! 
