HORROR QUESTIONNAIRE ANALYSIS:
Question 1:
The first question
allowed us to gain an
insight of the
demographic of the
audience as we are
producing a horror film
trailer targeted at a
predominately teenage
audience.
From looking at the
results, it is clear to see
that the ‘16-18’ bracket
is the most popular, with
other 60% of the
respondents.
Question 2:
As expected, the majority
of our respondents were
female, with over 80% of
the poll. This has allowed
us to identify and realise
that our horror
promotional package
must target the female
audience and should be
suitable for them overall.
Question 3:
Again, as we expected,
most of our respondents
were either studying at
higher education (A-level)
or in further
education (University).
With the majority of the
respondents answering
“yes” , mainly to both,
this allowed us to
identify our target
audience and helped us
to construct our Target
audience Profile.
Question 4:
From looking at the
diagram, most of our
respondents
answered “10” , which
told us that they
enjoyed watching
horror films a lot which
largely benefited us
with our Target
audience Profile.
Question 5:
With this question, I chose the most detailed and relevant responses out of all the
respondents which gave me further knowledge and understanding of the sub-genre
that I am working and what the audience generally expect from the supernatural sub-genre
as well as what they find the most scariest and exciting, Most of the
respondents answered with “suspense” and “excitement” , which seemed to be a
common link throughout the answers.
Question 6:
This question was more general and allowed the respondents to explore for themselves. The
most common responses were ‘The Conjuring’ and ‘Insidious’ which are both very identical
to each other in terms of the plot and character types. The question also allowed me to gain
more insight into which supernatural horror films my respondents enjoy the most and I wish
to create a promotional package which ties in with these yet at the same time include original
elements as well.
Question 7:
This question was one of the most useful out of all the questions asked as it allowed us to
identify how often our target audience watched horror films. Most of the respondents replied
almost evenly to ‘Every now and then’ and ‘Sometimes’, while ‘Very often’ came in third.
Question 8:
The last question required more thinking and reflecting from my respondents with almost
every single one of them answering to ‘Film trailer’ as that is what influenced them the most
and in general the majority of people would reply with this.
