Archetyble Heros In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The definition or idea of a hero is classified differently between every individual. A number of
people would state that a hero is a character who saves the world or saves a person s life. On the
other hand, it could be someone who has influence. Throughout history, heroes are constantly
characterized by individuals who are able to rise up to a challenge; any challenge presented to
them. The typical definition of the Heroarchetype is somebody who surmounts trials and
overcomes obstacles all throughout their journey on behalf of a tribe, group, or civilization. A
biblical hero is a person from the bible that has lived their life through faith, an ordinary person
appointed by God. Their life is devoted towards God based on their actions and beliefs, influencing
many people s lives. Enkiduand Gilgamesh are viewed as conventional heroes in the Epic of
Gilgameshwhile Joseph is considered as a biblical hero in the Bible. One major difference between
an ordinary hero and a biblical hero is that biblical heroes do not have extraordinary talents or
abilities, instead they retain true faith. As central characters to their respective stories, Gilgamesh,
Enkidu, and Joseph all possess heroic characteristics while overcoming trials even though their
distinctive backgrounds set them apart.
To begin with, Gilgamesh is bombarded with a variety of challenges and is forced to conquer
them, turning him into the archetypal hero he is meant to be. Initially, people viewed Gilgamesh as a

Deployment And Integration In The Military Family
Deployment and integration is one the greatest challenges military families and children have to
face on a daily basis. When a family member deploys or reintegrates within the entire family, it not
only affects the service member but it affects the entire family. Deployment can often lead to
families and children, experiencing a negative mental health outcomes and compromised wellbeing.
Bello (2015) found that most families and children (80.5% required less than one month to adjust to
the return of their deployed parent (Bello, 2015). Accordingly, the families and children are often
quick to adjust to having their familymember back in the home. Interestingly, discoveries are
surprising in light of the fact that when contrasted to another family, the discoveries are definitely
unique. Boberiene (2014) found that three out of every four families feel that reintegration after
the first three months is the most stressful phase of a deployment (Boberiene, 2014). This is
because the family experiences many emotions while the member is away. It appears that, families
and children didn t require as much time to adjust to reintegration as much as the families did in
Bobriene s (2014) study. It may be that all families and children handle reintegration differently and
some may require more time than others. The results in Boberiene s (2014) study is similar to what
Chandra (2009) had said about families and children, she stated that the number of months for
deployment had a huge

The Life of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ means numerous things to people: the Son of God, Savior, the Messiah, etc. But many
might still not know what happened during Jesus s life. There are numerous stories in the Bible.
His story starts in the New Testament, though the prophecies about Him are in the Old Testament.
Through the Bible, people have been able to decipher the Messianic prophecies, Jesuss death and
resurrection, and Jesus s return.
The Messianic Prophecies are prophecies about the Messiah. He will end the dark times, and bring
joy (Isaiah 9: 1 7). God will make this possible by giving us Jesus, His Son (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus, who
not only is the Son of God, but also God, will bring peace. He will be the king. This will happen
because God loves us all so much. God then goes on to talk about how His Son will bring justice,
and will not stick out in a crowd (Isaiah 42: 1 7). There was nothing particularly striking about
Jesus, in appearance or demeanor (Isaiah 53:2). Because of others suffering, Jesus felt their
sadness (Isaiah 53:4). God wanted Jesus to suffer in His life so that humans can be saved;
though Jesus never complained. Jesus was the sacrifice. He died for our sins. But He succeeded
in what was needed to be done. Afterward, He would have a remarkable spot in heaven (Isaiah
53:11 12).
Jesus s death is one of the biggest events in the Bible. Judas, who was one of Jesus s apostles,
betrayed Him and gave Him over to the Jews who had been planning to kill Him in exchange for
money (Luke

The National Security Agency Invasion
Living in a country that is known to be Land of the free... is not exactly what most people dream
of. The United States may be known for its freedom and power, but most people are unaware of the
covertness behind the government. And by now, almost every American citizen knows that privacy
no longer exists. In this century and country, it really does not. In the United States, most people
look toward the government as salvation, protection, and reliance. Unfortunately, not everything is
as good as it seems. Imagine your personal information, your daily conversations, and your daily
actions being viewed and judged by the government. This is exactly what the government does.
Sometimes the government is not always our solution; they can also be our problems.
National Security Agency (NSA) is also known as the President s Surveillance Program . It was
first implemented after the Twin Towers attack on September 11, 2001 by President George W. Bush
. Soon after, more surveillance programs sprouted in order to assist the National Security Agency.
Some surveillance programs include the FBI, IRS, Terrorist Scanning Center (TSC), Department of
Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), etc. All of these surveillance programs s
main purpose is to conduct a range of surveillance activities inside the United States in search for
terrorists. These surveillance activities required much information such as call histories, data
records and other personal information. This daily

Listening Is The Conscious Processing Of Auditory Stimuli...
Developing Interpersonal Skills
Listening
Listening is the conscious processing of auditory stimuli perceived through hearing. According the
website skillsyouneed.com, adults spend upwards of 70% of our time in communication, of which
45% is listening. Active listening is essential in the business setting, from communicating with team
members, customers or suppliers if you are not paying attention to what is being conveyed, you
will miss vital information necessary to make a decision or provide direction. Active listening
requires that, the listener rely on more than what they hear. Much of what is conveyed during a
conversation is done through gestures, facial expression, vocal inflection, pitch, or other non vocal
actions. In marketing, part of understanding what to build or add as new features to an existing
product is gaining insight from the customer through in depth interviews, and focus groups. If you
do not know what should be done to prepare the environment and yourself for the interview or focus
group, you will likely miss valuable information that would affect your product enhancement or
development decision. For more on the topic of active listening, visit:

Life is nothing short of a blessing that should never be taken for granted. For Jean his ability to
even communicate with the outside world using that left eye is a blessing in disguise. It was
step for Jean to make this harsh adjustment to his new unexpected life. This man was stripped of
every luxury of life. The chances of him contracting a stroke of that severity is just as rare as

What Is The Similarities Of The Fourknocks In Co. Meath
This essay aims to compare and contrast the nature of the rituals that would have taken place at
any two of the sites that we encountered on our fieldtrip. The two megalithic sites that will be
compared and contrasted in this essay will be the passage tomb known as Fourknocks in Co.
Meath and the Proleek wedge tomb in Co. Louth. Both of these megalithic tombs characterise the
majority of the Irish landscape and are of great importance to archaeologists as they give us an
insight to the lifestyles and social structures of the societies that would have constructed these
wonderful megalithic sites.
Megalithic sites like Fourknocks and the Proleek wedge tomb are at the centre of controversy
within the archaeological profession. There is little or no doubt that these large stone structures
were erected in order to hold the remains of the dead but archaeologists would also like to believe
that there is more to these large stone structures then just having a funerary orientated purpose
(Brown, 1979). Other purposes that could be related to these monuments include, links to the spirit
world, astronomical, directional or calendrical purposes (Brown, 1979).
Before we discuss the two megalithic sites already mentioned above we must first understand what
a megalithic site is and why they are so important for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fourknocks 1 is a type of passage grave known as a cruciform passage grave with a low kerb of
drystone surrounding it (Hartnett, 1957). What was very unusual about this passage tomb was
that there was no exterior kerb. At the centre of the tomb there is a post hole which may suggest
that there was a pole placed here either to support the roof or it was used as a marker to indicate
where the tomb was to be built (Cooney, 1997). The main burial chamber is very spacious. When

Uic Vocal Jazz Ensemble Concert Report
The UIC Vocal Jazz Ensemble started the performance first. The ensemble consisted of thirteen
members, and they opened the performance with a Christmas carol. There were three males and
four female soloists who were scat singing. The ending of the song was very cool when the male
soloist said, Better watch out now . The song was very interesting and created a delightful
atmosphere to start the performance along with the Christmas spirit. The second song that the
ensemble performed was called In the Mellow Tone by Duke Ellington. They also took turn to
sing solo and scat singing. The male singers also sung a little part without instrumental towards
the end of the song. The next performance was a duet of the Best Part by Daniel Caesar and H. E.

My Grown Up Christmas by Kelly Clarkson. There were four female and two male soloists.
When the soloist sang, everyone sang the harmony part. This pop song was very meaningful,
inspirational, and quite emotional about the grown up Christmas list that we wished for
everyone in the world not just for ourselves. The UIC Vocal Jazz Ensemble ended their
performance with Daddy Lessons from the album Lemonade by BeyoncГ©. This is a country and
blue song. This song was a an excellent choice to end their performance because it was very
entertaining with the scat singing and funny acting like people are exchanging a conversation. The

Mark Knopfler Research Paper
Mark Knopfler is one of the most celebrated British guitar heroes to emerge in the 70s and 80s
(All Music). He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on August 12, 1949. His family then relocated to
England when he was seven years old and that was where his passion for music began. In 1967,
Knopfler enrolled at Harlow Technical College to study journalism. Not to long after, he was
given the opportunity to take a job position with Yorkshire Evening Post where he wrote about
music. Mark graduated in the year of 1973. The young man did works with the famous Bob Dylan,

Even though there were some major bumps in the road for these men, they all had one goal in
mind and that was to finish what they started. They just wanted to get home to their loved ones. In
my perspective, all of the men in these poems were strong heroes. Whether they made it back home
or not because people that go to war put their lives on the line and that is something I truly respect.
To conclude, Mark Knopfler did a better job of conveying the sentiment of the war because he
added more emotional feelings such as death will be a sweet release and save my soul from evil,
Lord. Which gave me a moment to put myself in the soldier s shoes and feel the emotions that
came over them. Even though Knopfler was not ever involved in any wars first hand, I got the

The Role Of The Transmission Of Knowledge Walter M. Miller...
The role of the transmission of knowledge in Walter M. Miller s A Canticle for Leibowitz is vital
for people to recall and study more of the past prior to the nuclear war. Our contemporary world
understands the significance contained in past literacy and oral traditions to teach us our
civilization s past, however, their current forms are not cherished by this generation due to
technological advances. Even though the situations and settings in the world of Canticle for
Leibowitz and the contemporary world differ, the use of each tradition remains alike even if one
is cherished more than the other. More so, the transmission of knowledge in the form of literacy,
in the novel, is most reliable for teaching about the past, while others (e.g. Simpletons) either view
this form unfavorably or choose to abuse it for their own satisfaction. Oral traditions, as well in the
novel, are less favorable to higher authorities of the Church due to its degree of reliability; yet, oral
traditions can be instrumental for others to spread wonder and fear. The 21st centuryutilizes new
forms of oral traditions through online media, and concern themselves less with literacy (e.g. books
and newspapers).
Literacy is a vital and cautionary form that instructs the monks and our contemporary world about
man s past, however, literacy, outside of the Leibowitz abbey, is viewed as uninteresting and
inferior; furthermore, literacy is a danger that can support our own biases rather than truth. The

For Any Inner City and Rural Area Summarise the Contrasts...
There are key differences in the characteristics of the Isle of Purbeck in South East Dorset and
Byker Ward in Newcastle upon Tyne; such as the housing type, ethnicity, age structure, wealth,
employment and services unsurprisingly many are interlinked. These also have had key effects on
social welfare; which lead to further contrasts between the two areas. Social welfare measures the
well being of communities shown through jobs, housing, health care and education.
The most significant contrast is the housing type. Byker Grove is an inner city electoral ward in
Newcastle upon Tyneconsisting of council housing for many decades, whilst the Isle of Purbeck is

This contrasts significantly to the type of housing in the Isle of Purbeck where 73.7% is owner
occupied. Further, in the last decade house prices have risen above the national average due to
competition from second homeowners, retirees and in migrants. For example, property at
Sandbanks is the 4th most expensive in the world. The situation is made worse by the fact that
employment opportunities in the area are limited. Only 7.7% is council housing in recent times
only 2 small Housing Association developments in Corfe Castle have been planned to deal with
this. Therefore, this has a key effect on social welfare. It results in a richer population, with high
demand for private healthcare and farm/organic shops. In contrast, Byker is likely to have very
few high end shops as a result of income being low resulting in a reliance on state services, and
the creation of what Edwina Curry saw as food deserts ; meaning very little healthy food options
due to the dominance of cheap, fast food outlets. In turn, this is likely to increase obesity and
lower life expectancy reducing social welfare further. In contrast, organic/farm shops in the Isle of
Purbeck are likely to have the opposite effect raising life expectancy.
Another contrast is seen in the age structure of the two areas. Whilst the Isle of Purbeck has a
population where over 20% are over 65 and 18.6% are retied, Byker Ward has a much more evenly

Texas Holdem Excellence Essay
Texas Holdem Excellence
How do we define odds to ourselves? Are they things that happen because they are suppose to or
are they things that were written and statistics made them happen. Odds and statistics play major
roles in almost every event in life. They affect everything from who we marry and how long it
lasts right down to what shoes we wear. These odds and statistics are very noticeable to everyone
especially in a game of Texas hold em poker. The game has some skills involved but the odds still
apply to the type of cards a player is dealt in order to use his skills. This poker game is new and is
played by many but only mastered by a few. I happen to look at myself as some one who has

Around seven that evening we all showed up at brads. The cars filled the street of the quiet
community to the point people were walking half a mile to get to his house. When I walked in
to his extremely extravagant house I heard all the commotion downstairs. There were people
yelling all kinds of things and all of this before the poker even began. As I walked down stairs I was
greeted by brad and his brother Brian. Brad said Hey buddy how s it going? Followed by You have
the cash so we can put you in a bracket. I replied back Not much, and of course I have the cash, I

First the dealer deals each player two cards and the player then bets on the cards in his or her

three cards face up in the center. These cards can be used by all the players and each player uses

Formal Analysis Of Ushabti
A Formal Analysis of Ushabti During the third intermediate period 22nd Dynasty, the symbolic
images of servants were painted inside tombs to aid the deceased in the afterworld. This practice
developed into the usage of mummy like statuettes known as Ushabti; the analysis of ushabti is
founded in 22nd Dynasty, 800 BCE. Ancient Egyptian s culture and beliefs created ushabti in faith
to turn into a servant after attaining the afterlife; therefore it was buried with the body. As these
materials have magical means, often seen in Egyptian religious beliefs, a magical mean of the

On closer inspection, the facial features are extremely unclear. Although figure is lacking a
mouth, the shades of the blue color establish a tiny half circle smile. A painted headband appears
on its head seemingly to hold the wig in place and it is usually seen only in the front, the back
does not have any marks of wig or hair. To add style onto this figurine, roughly 8 thru 9 lines are
drawn on top, which resembles a type of hair hairstyle that is a fake wig. There are subtle,
unstable lines that imply very less motion of the wig. On the closer inspection, the ears are
barely noticeable, there is no shape forming an ear lobe. It appears that there is a small half a
circle besides the head that indicates ears. Ushabtis are among the more common objects found
in Egyptian collections. They come in a wide variety of materials and sizes yet all served a
common purpose. Today we view these intriguing figurines both as an art form and as a physical
manifestation of their culture and its belief in a life eternal, free from the cares and wants of this

Taking a Look at Capital Structure
LITERATURE REVIEW
Literature Review:
Rao (2001) made an attempt to explain the variation of capital structure across industries in India
during pre and post liberalization regime and also examine if there is any significant change in
average industry level capital structure during post liberalization regime. The study is based on
industry wise data of 85 industries in manufacturing sector the results shows that there has been
significant decrease in leverage during post liberalization regime and there has been change in set
of explanatory variables for capital structure. The most significant explanatory variables for capital
structure during pre liberalization regime were the measure of profitability, risk and asset type.
During post liberalization regime measure of profitability, growth and asset type were the most
significant variables.
Bhaduri (2002) studied the capital structure choice in developing countries through a case study
of Indian corporate sector, for the period 1989 90 to 1994 95, based on a sample of 363 firms
across nine industries. The author has reported optimal capital structure choice is influenced by
factors such as growth, cash flow size and product industry and characteristics.

Examples Of Biowarfare
11. What are some recent instances of biowarfare?
More sophisticated methods of biowarfare has been used in recent history. Some say that Germany
developed anthrax, glanders, and other biological agents during World War I to spread plague and
to infect the French cavalry. During World War II, Japan secretly carried out human
experimentation, exposing Chinese prisoners to plague, anthrax, syphilis, and other agents. In
1942, Great Britain tested bombs filled with anthrax on an island off the coast of Scotland. The
United States, decades later, released simulants to demonstrate the vulnerability of American cities
to biological agent attacks and then released the simulant B glob igii in subways for the same

machine gun with 4.6 x 30mm frangible SX ammunition coincides with this evidence, especially
with the accompanying accessories; a HK MP7 Silencer and Brasscatcher, which further benefits
the shooter by creating minimal disturbance and leaving negligible ballistic evidence behind.

Once firing began the shooter loses the sightline and accuracy to the target therefore the bullets
begin to spread out due to the recoil and the constant discharge of bullets. However due to the
second victim only having two wounds the gun must be able to operate in single shot as well as
in an automatic mode a sub machine gun. The weapon must be small and concealable as the firer
had to travel to an alleyway unnoticed; the HK MP7 has a length of 340mm with the stock closed
(Maxim Popenker, 1999 2015), however adding the HK MP7 Silencer which is needed to reduce
the noise from firing in order to remain undetected in a potentially public area, the length increases
by a further 222mm (Airsoft 2015) making the overall weapon length over 700mm when firing. Due
to this greater length this makes the firearm much more difficult to hide which increases the chance
considerably for the target to react and disarm the shooter or escape.
The HK MP7 has a mass of 1.7kg with a 20 round magazine (Maxim Popenker, 1999 2015) hence
a suitable choice as it is easily manoeuvrable (being fairly light) which makes it simple to handle
and operate for all users. Although, due to the addition of the silencer and the brass catcher, the
mass increases to over 2.5kg thus becoming more awkward to carry and to hide discreetly,
especially if the shooter was a more petite build.
The HK MP7 can be used by the most novice of shooters with its

An Analysis Of Wallace Stevens s Sunday Morning
At the time of World War I, many modern poets began to reconsider their own perspectives about
personal philosophy and beliefs. For Wallace Stevens, this period leads to his gradual realization
that modern religion no longer makes sense as a source of comfort. In coming to this conclusion,
Stevens replaces belief in Christianitywith a greater appreciation for nature and everyday beauty. In
Sunday Morning Steven s gradually asserts his belief that in the modern era Christian theology
disrupts the life, whereas appreciation for nature can provide better spiritual support. Wallace
Stevens s Sunday Morning argues that belief in Christian faithis no longer sufficient for dealing with
the horrors of modern society, suggesting instead that faith in nature serves as a better source of
personal relfection.
In the opening stanza of Sunday Morning, Stevens, through contrasting imagery and ominous
language, suggests the disruptive effect of Christian ideology. The poem opens with the image
of a young woman enjoying coffee and oranges in a sunny chair and the green freedom of a
cockatoo / Upon a rug (2 3). The vibrant flavor of orange and colorful image of a green bird
present a serene, peaceful morning, full of life and calm fulfillment. The next line, The holy hush of
ancient sacrifice, interrupts this quiet scene with a clear sense of foreboding evil, recognizing the
alliterative h sound that intensifies the rapid change of tone (5). Furthermore, the poem becomes

The Aztec Of Aztecs And Spanish Conquistadors
The events that occurred between the Aztecs and Spanish Conquistadors have many sides and
opportunities for debate. One of the most debated topics being; Who was more savage and who was
more Civil? Both the Aztecs and Spanish had powerful and thriving empires. These empires
displayed their dominance through their advanced technology and flourishing military. Though it
may seem that the Spanish were more advanced than the Aztecs, the Aztecs and Spanish were
actually quite close to being equal in technological advancements.
The Aztec empire has been said to be the greatest engineers in the Americas and rival the Roman
Empire in technology. The Aztec Empire had luxurious pyramids, temples and a gleaming capital
city called Tenochtitlan, that in its golden years, was said to house over 200,000 250,000 Aztecs.
Tenochtitlan was larger than Rome, London and Madrid put together. On top of it s large
population, the people and streets were very pristine. The Tenochtitlan citizens took daily baths to
ensure they were fully clean. Infact, Tenochtitlan had public baths and lavatories for the citizens.
Tenochtitlan was built on a lake island called Aztlan and over the lake, the Aztecs built fertile,
floating farms called Chinampas .The people who inhabited the Aztlan Island were originally called
the Mexica people. The name Aztec is derived from the name of the Island. However primitive this
empire may seem, the Emperors were quite affluent. They had lavish possessions

The Pros And Cons Of Portfolio Theory
During the interviews, it was understood that Portfolio Theory is difficult to apply to loaning
administration. A bank is required to have a flexible credit evaluating process to capture the
individuality of each loan. These differences depend on the size of the loan and the different clients
risks. This makes it difficult to apply loan portfoliodiversificationcompared to a portfolio of bonds
or stocks. Nevertheless, more than the fixed principles banks seem to follow the intuition behind it
not to expose themselves more than a limit.
The banks seem to assume that a well diversified loan portfolio will happen on its own as long as
it covers the strategically important regions. The banks have not focused in on a certain industry
or geographical area historically, all the banks seem to rely on their size when it comes to having a
well diversified loan portfolio. They also maintain the individual ... Show more content on

Cruel And Unusual Punishment
The cruel and unusual punishment provision is that the law must treat all criminals with dignity
even the most despicable ones. Any sentence that is taking lives instead of rehabilitating is cruel
and unusual and infringes the decency of society. The corrections system helps rehabilitate inmates
through individual or group counseling about the cause of incarceration. They train them with
suitable skills programs, such as how to prepare a job application and to interviews, and the
importance of maintaining a steady employment to support family responsibilities. They help the
inmates through educational programs to achieve a higher education while in prisonand to succeed
economically and live a healthier lifestyle outside of prison. The corrections system hopes with new
skills incorporated; they will be able to be more productive. Keeping them engaged with medical
and psychiatric treatment will keep them mentally stable for their reentry into the community.
James Gilligan (2012), a Psychiatry Professor at NewYork University, stated that Two thirds of
inmates reoffending within three years with more violent crimes after leaving prison which means
incarceration for punishment does not work positively. Inflicting punishment on convicts for pay
back only makes them more empowered criminals. Rehabilitation is the only key to reducing
crimes because a regenerated person is more conscious of how their behaviors cause their loved
ones and others around them to suffer. Awareness

The Importance Of Characters In The Color Of Water
I m dead. You want me to talk about my family and here I been dead to them for fifty years. Ruth
McBride Jordan. Ruth McBride Jordan is a strong Polish Jewish woman with 12 children who
firmly believes in work, school, and religion. Ruth undergoes many different changes within both
herself and her family throughout The Color of Water, causing her to changeher name 3 times in a
way of reviving herself. These 3 names are significant with respect to her identity and her life
because they represent a time in her life where she tried to change in order to make her it better.
These name changes lead up to a manageable time of life for Ruth. The name Ruchel Dwarja
Zylska is significant because it represents her when she was young naive girl who didn t
understand the aspects of life. The second name, Rachel Deborah Shilsky, represents a time in her
life where she tried to change her ways in order to fit in. The final name, Ruth McBride Jordan,
stands for a time when she finally moves on with life and leaves behind all of the toxic things that
once troubled her.
The name Ruchel Dwarja Zylska is significant because during this time, Ruth didn t fit in with

Consider The Lobster Summary

Lobsters are Animals too People rarely ever think about the food they eat. Recently a lot more
people are starting to look at what is in the food they eat through nutritional facts like calories,
sugar, sodium, fat content, and plenty more; but even health concerns shared by many people isn t
even the majority in the world today. When looking at how only a minority of people pay attention
to what s in the food they are eating, it s not hard to conclude that a much smaller amount of people
are even looking at what they are eating as a larger concept. In the writing Consider the Lobster by

Between preferences and nutrition, everyone s diet differs. There is a very common acceptance of
what should be eaten in society. Rarely in the United States like the idea of forcing someone to
live their life in a certain way just because another thinks that s how it should be, but in reality it
happens. It happens all over the world from India to Iceland Consider the Lobster by David
Foster Wallace explores the whole world of lobster and what it means to the people of Maine
and the greater United States. In doing so it s not only exposing the thought process behind
eating lobster but numbers of other animal species as well. Lobster is a great example because
no one truly knows what lobsters feel but in the absence of clear facts it seems they choose to be
what outsiders would consider cruel. Wallace is great a showing how big of an industry the
lobster is and anyone who knows big business knows that it has the capability of literally
influencing people s lives and culture. Lobsters are just like most animals we encounter daily that
we don t eat, but that s not what people feel. Pre existing assumptions make it difficult to
comprehend. Maybe once presented with solid evidence and information, people can really see the
error in their own judgment and thinking. Then again maybe the tradition and culture in which they

Many scientists believe that the reasons may lie in the combination of the extreme heat and the
physical stress involved.Dr. Helene Wilson of the British Heart Foundation theorizes that the toxins
released during fires and inhaling smoke play contributing roles in firefighter mortality. The
Foundation has commenced a study to determine why heart attacks are so prevalent while fighting
a fire and what measures can be deployed to improve health outcomes for firefighters. Researchers
hope to better understand how fire stresses the body and how to protect the health of firefighters.
Initial research findings indicate that small changes such as drinking water more frequently may

Bullying In Larry King
In the documentary I witness a young boy named Larry King been a subject of bullying for being
gay. First, I will examine the concept of bullying. Next I will discuss about hate crime and how
this act was a hate crime. Lastly, I will examine about victim blame.
Bullying always includes 3 elements, imbalance of power, intent to harm and threat of further
aggression. Bullying is the intentional infliction of injury or discomfort on another person
repeatedly over time when there is a power imbalance between the perpetrator and the victim
(Daigle, Muftic 2016, pg. 241). As mentioned in the textbook, bullying can be both direct and
indirect. Direct bullying involves both physical and verbal actions in the presence of the victim.
Indirect bullying is more subtle and harder to detect. For instance, King being a bi racial, and
being gay made him an easier target of bullying. Males experience greater rates of victimization
at school than do females (Daigle, Muftic 2016, pg. 239). King was a subject of bullying for
being gay. He would have people call him names because he was open about his sexuality.
According to teachers, classmates and themselves felt very uncomfortable with King dressing up
like a girl, and wearing make up, and wearing heels. Having teachers disagree with the way King
represents himself to the point that they did not allow him to express himself freely. A teacher

Individualism In The Great Gatsby
The 1920s were years marked with wild economic prosperity, cultural flowering and shaking up
of social values in America. The period is nostalgically remembered as the Boom, the Roaring

Fitzgerald, who in this era reached the pinnacle of his writing career (Shmoop Editorial Team).
The 1925 publication of the Great Gatsby impeccably captured the era s dispositions and styles.

This is a sharp contrast from the icy rigidity implied by the title. It s this contrast that Fitzgerald
uses throughout the book to examine the cultural differences between the Southerners and the
Northerners. On a deeper level, not only does the story depict the differences in outlooks and
lifestyles between the two, but it also tackles the varying mindsets of communities and human
values across the world. Fitzgerald uses imagery to illustrate this rift. While describing the
Southern town, the author compares the sun to paint. He says The sunlight dripped over the
house like golden paint over an art jar . Apart from people in the town appearing to be slow and
lazy, the whole town seems to be suffering from the effects of too much heat, ...even the shops
seemed only yawning in their doors and blinking their windows in the sunshine before retiring
into a state of utter and finite coma.. Sally s lover Harry Bellamy is irritated by their
shiftlessness and thus regarding them as degenerates . Sally defends her home town by reiterating
that They may be lazy anybody would be in that climate . This sense of non belonging that Harry
feels while in the South is magnified when Sally visits the North. Sally s friends are worried that
she is engaged to a Yankee . She says that, although she loves her friends, it s highly unlikely that
will remain in the sleepy town,

In the film, the director has introduced the technique of tracking shots for places presented in the

At the same time, it captures the voice of the 60 s counter culture. Clearly, in viewing the shots of
the town, the audience was provided with evidence of their lifestyles. Some were dressed in the

On a side note, the music they listened to was closely linked to the musical influences in which The

Persuasive Essay On Bullying
When Will it Stop?
What if you were terrified to go to your school every day? 160,000 students miss school each day
because they get bullied and are scared of what will happen ( Bullying Statistics ). Bullying has
been a major problem in schools for far too long. Students should not be scared to go to a place
that is supposed to be safe and where they can express themselves. Students that bully never get the
punishment they deserve, which causes them to continue to act. When you go to school, you
should know that if you are getting treated in a horrific way, the people who were treating you that
way will get punished. Students who bully should be suspended from school.
The bullies in schools never think they will get severely punished, so they don t stop. They think
that they won t be caught and that bullying isn t a huge deal, but it is. Bullying causes students to
not go to school, to feel alone, and to leave their school feeling worthless. If the bully were to be
suspended, he/she would learn quickly that what they are doing is wrong in so many ways. They
will realize that bullying can be the reason they don t get into their dream school or do something
they love. On the other hand, victims of bullying don t come forward and voice that the have been
taunted, teased, and tormented because they don t think the school will help them. 67 percent of
students feel that their school doesn t hear about their bullying and doesn t do anything that will
prevent it (Soard). A great number of bullies in schools go unnoticed because of this which will in
turn, make them continue to do these hurtful things. Punishments that bullies receive are not harsh
enough and need to be reconsidered if we want a change in our lives.
Bullies not getting punished leads more students to get involved in these horrible acts due to peer
pressure. Students feel like they need to bully to be popular or because everyone else does it.
They don t realize that bullying other kids makes you look worse and can drive that student to
never come back to school or do something even worse. If the students who started the bullying
were caught and suspended, less students would continue the bullying. They would see the
consequences that a bully got and

Role Of The United States On The Age Of Globalization
INTRODUCTION This paper will examine the role of the United States in textile and apparel
production in the age of globalization and will provide an overview of trade agreements enacted in
the textile and apparel industry. A discussion of the different trade agreements and how the U.S.
textile and apparel industry has been affected by those agreements will be given along with ideas
about what the United States can do to continue to operate in the domestic market of textiles and
apparel. HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES TEXTILE AND APPAREL INDUSTRY The
American textile industry has been around for as long as the country has been in existence. In the
beginning, most textile and apparel items were created by artisans, who worked mainly in their
homes. In the 18th century, the country was hit with the industrial revolution which brought many
changes to the textile industry. The local artisans were replaced by textile industries and
manufactures. With the invention of the spinning jenny, spinning frame, water frame and power
loom, the textile industry was revolutionized. Later, with the use of electrical power, these
inventions were made more efficient. Fabric production was mechanized with machines powered
by waterwheels and steam engines. Production was shifting from the small cottage based
production into a mass production in various factories. (Kunz) Sewing machines were emerging in
the 19th century which further streamlined clothing production. During the post

Importance of Louis Armstrong
Louis Armstrong
Louis Armstrong was the greatest of all Jazz musicians. Armstrong defined what it was to play
Jazz. His amazing technical abilities, the joy and spontaneity, and amazingly quick, inventive
musical mind still dominate Jazz to this day. Only Charlie Parker comes close to having as much
influence on the history of Jazz as Louis Armstrong did. Like almost all early Jazz musicians,
Louis was from New Orleans. He was from a very poor family and was sent to reform school
when he was twelve after firing a gun in the air on New Year s Eve. At the school he learned to
play cornet. After being released at age fourteen, he worked selling papers, unloading boats, and
selling coal from a cart. He didn t own an instrument at this time, ... Show more content on

In 1931 he returned to Chicago and assembled his own band for touring purposes. In June of that
year he returned to New Orleans for the first time since he left in 1922 to join King Oliver s
Creole Jazz Band. Armstrong was greeted as a hero, but racism marred his return when a White
radio announcer refused to mention Armstrong on the air and a free concert that Louis was
going to give to the cities African American population was cancelled at the last minute. Louis
and Lil also separated in 1931. In 1932 he returned to California, before leaving for England
where he was a great success. For the next three years Armstrong was almost always on the road.
He crisscrossed the U.S. dozens of times and returned to Europe playing in Denmark, Sweden,
Norway, Holland and England. In 1935 he returned to the U.S. and hired Joe Glaser to be his
manager. He had known Glaser when he was the manager of the Sunset Cafe in Chicago in the
1920s. Glaser was allegedly connected to the Al Capone mob, but proved to be a great manager
and friend for Louis. Glaser remained Armstrong s manager until his death in 1969.
Glaser took care of the business end of things, leaving Armstrong free to concentrate on his music.
He also hired the Luis Russell Orchestra as Louis backup band with Russell as the musical
director. This was like going home for Armstrong, because Russell s Orchestra was made up of

Control In A Tale Of Two Cities
Taking Control of your Life
In a lifetime, life will drag us down to the deepest, darkest, caverns, where the darkness suffocates
any sign of hope or light, but with hard work and dedication there will be a chance to submerge
into a new age of opportunity. This English historical fictional novel has evolved English
composition, A Tale Of Two Cities
, by Charles Dickens demonstrates the birth of a new, changed
life. Some of the most successful people to ever live have been re born from losses of money, or
moral. People like Bill Gates, Walt Disney, Thomas Edison, and many more have dropped out of
school, lost money, been rejected by their families and companies only to rise and to crush the
darkness with their hope. There s beauty in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the time period of when A Tale of Two Cities was published Dickens was having a battle
of depression in his life. He saw no hope with his wife and had thought to have too many children
to keep watch of. He then in 1858 separated from his wife which was a year before publishing A
Tale of Two Cities. Dickens was able to transfer his emotions and feelings into his piece A Tale
of Two Cities. Sadly, Dickens life continued to go downhill as his brother died a few years later
and other family members continue to die. In 1860 Charles tried burning his personal papers .
Him separating from his wife was something widely public, but what wasn t known was that he
had a mistress who was fairly younger than him. Dickens in many of his writings gives
characters who have lives of poverty, enter through the gates of opportunity, but there is no
happy, romantic ending. In Great Expectations Pip grows to be a gentleman, but ends up being
alone with nobody to love him or give affection, just like Dickens. His heart becomes a stone
wall with three layers of concrete to let no one in. During Charles Dickens lifetime he was at the
top of life and at the bottom of his life, resurrecting back from the darkest place to what seemed to
be a golden age, using characters Dr. Manette and Sydney

  • 2. Archetyble Heros In The Epic Of Gilgamesh The definition or idea of a hero is classified differently between every individual. A number of people would state that a hero is a character who saves the world or saves a person s life. On the other hand, it could be someone who has influence. Throughout history, heroes are constantly characterized by individuals who are able to rise up to a challenge; any challenge presented to them. The typical definition of the Heroarchetype is somebody who surmounts trials and overcomes obstacles all throughout their journey on behalf of a tribe, group, or civilization. A biblical hero is a person from the bible that has lived their life through faith, an ordinary person appointed by God. Their life is devoted towards God based on their actions and beliefs, influencing many people s lives. Enkiduand Gilgamesh are viewed as conventional heroes in the Epic of Gilgameshwhile Joseph is considered as a biblical hero in the Bible. One major difference between an ordinary hero and a biblical hero is that biblical heroes do not have extraordinary talents or abilities, instead they retain true faith. As central characters to their respective stories, Gilgamesh, Enkidu, and Joseph all possess heroic characteristics while overcoming trials even though their distinctive backgrounds set them apart. To begin with, Gilgamesh is bombarded with a variety of challenges and is forced to conquer them, turning him into the archetypal hero he is meant to be. Initially, people viewed Gilgamesh as a ... • 3. Deployment And Integration In The Military Family Deployment and integration is one the greatest challenges military families and children have to face on a daily basis. When a family member deploys or reintegrates within the entire family, it not only affects the service member but it affects the entire family. Deployment can often lead to families and children, experiencing a negative mental health outcomes and compromised wellbeing. Bello (2015) found that most families and children (80.5% required less than one month to adjust to the return of their deployed parent (Bello, 2015). Accordingly, the families and children are often quick to adjust to having their familymember back in the home. Interestingly, discoveries are surprising in light of the fact that when contrasted to another family, the discoveries are definitely unique. Boberiene (2014) found that three out of every four families feel that reintegration after the first three months is the most stressful phase of a deployment (Boberiene, 2014). This is because the family experiences many emotions while the member is away. It appears that, families and children didn t require as much time to adjust to reintegration as much as the families did in Bobriene s (2014) study. It may be that all families and children handle reintegration differently and some may require more time than others. The results in Boberiene s (2014) study is similar to what Chandra (2009) had said about families and children, she stated that the number of months for deployment had a huge ... • 5. The Life of Jesus Christ Jesus Christ means numerous things to people: the Son of God, Savior, the Messiah, etc. But many might still not know what happened during Jesus s life. There are numerous stories in the Bible. His story starts in the New Testament, though the prophecies about Him are in the Old Testament. Through the Bible, people have been able to decipher the Messianic prophecies, Jesuss death and resurrection, and Jesus s return. The Messianic Prophecies are prophecies about the Messiah. He will end the dark times, and bring joy (Isaiah 9: 1 7). God will make this possible by giving us Jesus, His Son (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus, who not only is the Son of God, but also God, will bring peace. He will be the king. This will happen because God loves us all so much. God then goes on to talk about how His Son will bring justice, and will not stick out in a crowd (Isaiah 42: 1 7). There was nothing particularly striking about Jesus, in appearance or demeanor (Isaiah 53:2). Because of others suffering, Jesus felt their sadness (Isaiah 53:4). God wanted Jesus to suffer in His life so that humans can be saved; though Jesus never complained. Jesus was the sacrifice. He died for our sins. But He succeeded in what was needed to be done. Afterward, He would have a remarkable spot in heaven (Isaiah 53:11 12). Jesus s death is one of the biggest events in the Bible. The two megalithic sites that will be compared and contrasted in this essay will be the passage tomb known as Fourknocks in Co. Meath and the Proleek wedge tomb in Co. Louth. Megalithic sites like Fourknocks and the Proleek wedge tomb are at the centre of controversy within the archaeological profession. There is little or no doubt that these large stone structures were erected in order to hold the remains of the dead but archaeologists would also like to believe that there is more to these large stone structures then just having a funerary orientated purpose (Brown, 1979). Other purposes that could be related to these monuments include, links to the spirit world, astronomical, directional or calendrical purposes (Brown, 1979). Miller s A Canticle for Leibowitz is vital for people to recall and study more of the past prior to the nuclear war. Our contemporary world understands the significance contained in past literacy and oral traditions to teach us our civilization s past, however, their current forms are not cherished by this generation due to technological advances. Even though the situations and settings in the world of Canticle for Leibowitz and the contemporary world differ, the use of each tradition remains alike even if one is cherished more than the other. More so, the transmission of knowledge in the form of literacy, in the novel, is most reliable for teaching about the past, while others (e.g. Simpletons) either view this form unfavorably or choose to abuse it for their own satisfaction. Oral traditions, as well in the novel, are less favorable to higher authorities of the Church due to its degree of reliability; yet, oral traditions can be instrumental for others to spread wonder and fear. The 21st centuryutilizes new forms of oral traditions through online media, and concern themselves less with literacy (e.g. books and newspapers). Literacy is a vital and cautionary form that instructs the monks and our contemporary world about man s past, however, literacy, outside of the Leibowitz abbey, is viewed as uninteresting and inferior; furthermore, literacy is a danger that can support our own biases rather than truth. It results in a richer population, with high demand for private healthcare and farm/organic shops. The Heckler and Koch MP7 sub machine gun with 4.6 x 30mm frangible SX ammunition coincides with this evidence, especially with the accompanying accessories; a HK MP7 Silencer and Brasscatcher, which further benefits the shooter by creating minimal disturbance and leaving negligible ballistic evidence behind. The weapon must be small and concealable as the firer had to travel to an alleyway unnoticed; the HK MP7 has a length of 340mm with the stock closed (Maxim Popenker, 1999 2015), however adding the HK MP7 Silencer which is needed to reduce the noise from firing in order to remain undetected in a potentially public area, the length increases by a further 222mm (Airsoft 2015) making the overall weapon length over 700mm when firing. Due to this greater length this makes the firearm much more difficult to hide which increases the chance considerably for the target to react and disarm the shooter or escape. • 22. An Analysis Of Wallace Stevens s Sunday Morning At the time of World War I, many modern poets began to reconsider their own perspectives about personal philosophy and beliefs. For Wallace Stevens, this period leads to his gradual realization that modern religion no longer makes sense as a source of comfort. In coming to this conclusion, Stevens replaces belief in Christianitywith a greater appreciation for nature and everyday beauty. In Sunday Morning Steven s gradually asserts his belief that in the modern era Christian theology disrupts the life, whereas appreciation for nature can provide better spiritual support. Wallace Stevens s Sunday Morning argues that belief in Christian faithis no longer sufficient for dealing with the horrors of modern society, suggesting instead that faith in nature serves as a better source of personal relfection. In the opening stanza of Sunday Morning, Stevens, through contrasting imagery and ominous language, suggests the disruptive effect of Christian ideology. The poem opens with the image of a young woman enjoying coffee and oranges in a sunny chair and the green freedom of a cockatoo / Upon a rug (2 3). They help the inmates through educational programs to achieve a higher education while in prisonand to succeed economically and live a healthier lifestyle outside of prison. The corrections system hopes with new skills incorporated; they will be able to be more productive. Keeping them engaged with medical and psychiatric treatment will keep them mentally stable for their reentry into the community. James Gilligan (2012), a Psychiatry Professor at NewYork University, stated that Two thirds of inmates reoffending within three years with more violent crimes after leaving prison which means incarceration for punishment does not work positively. • 33. Bullying In Larry King In the documentary I witness a young boy named Larry King been a subject of bullying for being gay. First, I will examine the concept of bullying. Next I will discuss about hate crime and how this act was a hate crime. Lastly, I will examine about victim blame. Bullying always includes 3 elements, imbalance of power, intent to harm and threat of further aggression. Bullying is the intentional infliction of injury or discomfort on another person repeatedly over time when there is a power imbalance between the perpetrator and the victim (Daigle, Muftic 2016, pg. 241). As mentioned in the textbook, bullying can be both direct and indirect. Direct bullying involves both physical and verbal actions in the presence of the victim. Indirect bullying is more subtle and harder to detect. For instance, King being a bi racial, and being gay made him an easier target of bullying. Males experience greater rates of victimization at school than do females (Daigle, Muftic 2016, pg. 239). King was a subject of bullying for being gay. He would have people call him names because he was open about his sexuality. According to teachers, classmates and themselves felt very uncomfortable with King dressing up like a girl, and wearing make up, and wearing heels. The Jazz Age was coined by Scott Fitzgerald, who in this era reached the pinnacle of his writing career (Shmoop Editorial Team). The 1925 publication of the Great Gatsby impeccably captured the era s dispositions and styles. On a deeper level, not only does the story depict the differences in outlooks and lifestyles between the two, but it also tackles the varying mindsets of communities and human values across the world. Fitzgerald uses imagery to illustrate this rift. While describing the Southern town, the author compares the sun to paint. • 37. Persuasive Essay On Bullying When Will it Stop? What if you were terrified to go to your school every day? 160,000 students miss school each day because they get bullied and are scared of what will happen ( Bullying Statistics ). Bullying has been a major problem in schools for far too long. Students should not be scared to go to a place that is supposed to be safe and where they can express themselves. Students that bully never get the punishment they deserve, which causes them to continue to act. When you go to school, you should know that if you are getting treated in a horrific way, the people who were treating you that way will get punished. Students who bully should be suspended from school. The bullies in schools never think they will get severely punished, so they don t stop. They think that they won t be caught and that bullying isn t a huge deal, but it is. Bullying causes students to not go to school, to feel alone, and to leave their school feeling worthless. If the bully were to be suspended, he/she would learn quickly that what they are doing is wrong in so many ways. They will realize that bullying can be the reason they don t get into their dream school or do something they love. On the other hand, victims of bullying don t come forward and voice that the have been taunted, teased, and tormented because they don t think the school will help them. 67 percent of students feel that their school doesn t hear about their bullying and doesn t do anything that will prevent it (Soard). A great number of bullies in schools go unnoticed because of this which will in turn, make them continue to do these hurtful things. Punishments that bullies receive are not harsh enough and need to be reconsidered if we want a change in our lives. Bullies not getting punished leads more students to get involved in these horrible acts due to peer pressure. Students feel like they need to bully to be popular or because everyone else does it. They don t realize that bullying other kids makes you look worse and can drive that student to never come back to school or do something even worse.
