Hitler was born in Austria in 1889 and devoted himself to restoring Germany's military glory after its defeat in WWI. In 1923, he tried to overthrow the Bavarian government and was imprisoned, where he wrote his book "Mein Kampf" outlining his racist ideology and plan to conquer Eastern Europe for "living space" for Germans. He became the leader of the Nazi party in 1933 and capitalized on economic troubles to become Chancellor of Germany, establishing a Nazi regime and beginning persecution of Jews.
