How Did The Developement Of The Germ Theory
The germ theory began when one scientist became motivated to disprove the theory of spontaneous
generation. This curiosity and motivation led to major changes in the health of humanity. This
theory helped the future generations while providing methods to prevent disease. The
developpement of the germ theory allowed other scientists to expand on this concept and develop
ways to apply information to care for individuals with disease and help in the modern world.
Microorganisms are miniscule, they easily invade humans, animals and other living hosts which
then lead to disease. Louis Pasteura french biologist conducted a variety of experiements, his
individual geniusness and technology helped the discovery of the germ theory which radically
changed the practice of medecine.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Louis Pasteur s discovery of the relationship between germ and disease was only the beginning to
developping a permanent solution. The theory led to the realization that handwashing helps prevent
the spread of disease and disinfection can eliminate germs. Disinfection and handwashing affected
humanity because the rates of infectious disease began to decline and epidemics lasted for a shorter
time spand and overall mortality decreased as a result. The introduction of the theory affected how
humanity viewed the human body. People began to believe that dirt contained microorganisms and
could cause an infection, which lead to bathing frequently. Alongside his discovery were his
inventions, for example the machine used to screen and detect silkworm eggs which saved the
European silk industry and helped prevent silkworm

6. The US strategy for the Cold Warwas based on Mutually Assured Destruction, meaning if the
Soviets launched their missiles, we would launch ours and wipe them out. Our strategy was MAD.
7. The third leg of Mutually Assured Destruction was submarines, which could dive into the ocean
for weeks at a time and had nuclear warheads attached to them.
8. The Russians had failsafes so that an AWOL officer couldn t go and blow up the world. They
had two keys to access the nuclear warheads held by different people on the ship.
9. The Americans had vastly superior submarines over the Russians. While the russian submarines
were noisy, ours could go undetected.

Daytona Beach Descriptive Essay
Daytona Beach On the morning of June 17, 2016, I woke up with a smile on my face like it was
Christmas morning. I launched myself out of bed to take a quick shower before I was to meet
my friends to leave for Daytona Florida. We planned this trip months ahead of time when we
found out there was a truck meet on the weekend of June 18th and 19th. The truck meet we went
to was where anyone who owned a pickup truck could come down to Daytona Florida and drive on
the beach to get to mingle and entertain one another for the weekend. We met at a local gas station
in Morgantown Kentucky at eight that morning. There was eleven of us total going on the trip, my
father, Robbie Henderson, my friend Seth Gaskey and his father, Jimmy Gaskey, my... Show more

While waiting in line we noticed they seemed to be slow with taking orders but we were
starving so we decided to wait it out. After placing our orders, we were asked to wait off to the
side of the window to receive the food. It thought the sun was going to set before we received
our order. Finally, after forty five minutes of waiting we got our food and set down to eat. This
was our first delay during the drive down and we thought as long as we did not have any more
we would still arrive at a decent time. We ramped back onto the interstate after everyone finished
eating and still had approximately six hours prior to arriving. While driving down the interstate
we recognized a truck from Instagram that was also headed to Daytona. It was a 2015 Chevrolet
Silverado that had a large lift under it with aftermarket wheels and a custom pink and white paint
job. The reason it was partially pink is because it was owned by a woman. We traveled the
interstate for about three hours after stopping to eat when we crossed the Florida state line and
stopped at the welcome center to use the restroom. While parking we noticed an odd screeching
sound coming from underneath the front end of Seth s Ford. This would become our second delay
as we found out after inspecting his truck that his front passenger side wheel hub bearing was
ruined. Immediately we started looking for the closest auto

The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening Essay
The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening In Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, the female
protagonist, Edna Pontellier, learns about the world. Unfortunately for Edna, the world is
defined in terms of love and marriage. This female awakening is really an awakening to
limitations (Bloom 43). If read as a suicide, then Edna s last swim is a consequence of her
awakening to the limitations of her femaleness in a male dominant society. But on a metaphysical
level, The Awakening s final scene can be seen as Edna s ultimate gesture in trying to grasp the
essence of her being. This essay will show that Edna s spiritual journey both begins and ends in
the sea.. In the early chapters, Edna is referred to only as Mrs.... Show more content on

The sea, in this case, symbolizes samsara, the cyclical rebirths of existence, and is a product of
ignorance and the failure to recognize the impermanent nature of things. On the other shore lies
another rebirth. And it is by the sea that Kate Chopin first pulls Edna out from the narrative and
gives her an ego by referring to her by her given name and, after walking through a sea of grass,
recounts Edna s previous love interests the cavalry officer, a young gentleman, and the tragedian
attachments of previous reincarnations. In other words, Edna s self is born here by inward
contemplation , with the aid of the seductive odor and sonorous murmur of the sea and its loving
but imperative entreaty (Chopin 56 7). The objects of her previous attachments were men, or
perhaps her desire for the men of her past. In Edna s present lifetime on Grand Isle, her
attachment is to Robert Lebrun, who draws Edna s ego to its fullest from Chopin s narrative and
makes Edna s suffering more intense and tangible. Shortly after the reader meets Robert Lebrun
and realizes that Edna Pontellier is strangely drawn to the young man (Chopin 56) the seed of Edna
s attachment is thus planted Chopin prepares a series of

Irony In Albert Camus The Plague
The central irony in The Plague lies in Camus treatment of freedom. The citizens of Oran become
prisoners of the plague when their city falls under total quarantine, but it is questionable whether
they were really free before the plague. Their lives were strictly regimented by an unconscious
enslavement to their habits. Moreover, it is questionable whether they were really alive. It is only
when they are separated by quarantine from their friends, lovers and families that they most
intensively love them. Before, they simply took their loved ones for granted.
Camus philosophy is an amalgam of existentialism and humanism. An atheist, Camus did not
believe that death, suffering, and human existence had any intrinsic moral or rational meaning.
Because he did not believe in God or an afterlife, Camus held that human beings, as mortals, live
under an inexplicable, irrational, completely absurd death sentence. Nevertheless, Camus did
believe that people are capable of giving their lives meaning. The most meaningful action within the
context of Camus philosophy is to choose to fight death and suffering. ... Show more content on

When the epidemic wears on for months, many of Oran s citizens rise above themselves by joining
the anti plague effort. The recognition of the plague as a collective concern allows them to break the
gap of alienation that has characterized their existence. Thus, they give meaning to their lives
because they chose to rebel against death. Fleeing the city or otherwise avoiding the anti plague
effort is tantamount to surrendering to the absurd death sentence under which every human being

Willy Loman Foil
Foil in Death of a Salesman In the play, Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller establishes Charley, a
humble and successful salesman as the foil to Willy Loman, a prideful and arrogant man.
Charley is the perfect character to help depict Willy s flaws. Although the two contrast with
each other, their characteristics help maintain a balance between them. Willy Loman lives in
his own world, where he believes that in order to be successful, one must be well liked with a
great appearance. The man who makes an appearance...is the man who gets ahead (Miller 1568).
These are obvious words from Willy which proves that he does not believe in hard work. He
instills within both of his children that looks and personality are all that matters. The
characteristics of Willy allow us to grasp the idea that he lives within a false reality. He is a man
living within a child s fantasy based off of the life of Dave Singleman. The very words he spoke
against his neighbor Charley and his son, Bernard, are the very words that prove him wrong.

In contrast, Willy believes that as long as you have personality and a great appearance you can

is a successful salesman and his son is a successful lawyer. Willy on the other hand lives in a
fantasy and is unsuccessful, with bad morals that have rubbed off on his two sons. These two
different views make all the difference when it comes to surviving the world. Unrealistic beliefs
usually lead to an unsuccessful life, and realistic beliefs usually lead to success. Charley highlights
every flaw in Willy by highlighting his own positive aspects as well. Miller uses his unique war of

Lorenzo De Medici Influence
Without the guidance and support of Lorenzo Medici, a patron of the arts who lived in Florence
(1449 1492), the art and architecture of the fifteenth century and its influence on later art would
not be as great as it is today. Guided by the way he was raised, those he had around him, and
what he did for the art community, even as a young patron, de Medici changed the time period
itself. Earning the title Lorenzo de Magnifico for his success promoting and supporting artists, and
not because of his political leadership, Lorenzo Medici made an important contribution to the
world of art and architecture as one of the time s major patrons. Throughout this research paper, I
will write about several different aspects of de Medici s life. First... Show more content on

[2] In addition to improving the structure of the church, de Medici also started to pay particular
attention to the collection of books within the Palazzo Medici. Interested in creating a foundation
of books for his own thinking and contribute to the library started by his grandfather, Cosimo I,
de Medici sought to purchase an expanding number of books that eventually led to the expanded
collection and future bases of the Biblioteca Laurenziana. The library today contains some of the
most ancient or unique manuscripts from Greek antiquity, illustrating the appreciation de Medici
had for classical antiquity from an early age. With these successes, de Medici did not stop his
pursuit of enhancing spaces, and he because he wanted to identify and foster new talents in which
he could invest money and energy, Lorenzo opened the sculpture garden in Piazza San Marco.
The creation of this public space, in addition to the more obvious contributions to his family s
holdings, gives the idea that de Medici really wanted to create a sense of well being for the young
minds of writers and artists that surrounded him. de Medici wanted them to have their

There are many viewpoints on this subject and I think it is hard to find the facts that have not
been altered or slanted by people with their own opinions. By the year 2007 the facts are
supposed to be presented and addressed to the House of Representatives. There are many ways to
look at this subject. One is by the industry and how this subject could affects the local businesses. I
personally would feel an affect of the banning of snowmobiles in the park. I work for a company
that manufactures snowmobiles and the grooming equipment that keeps the trails open. There is a
great amount of revenue that comes from the thriving industry. There are some 85,000 visitors each
winter that generates over 30 million dollars throughout the three surrounding states. The other way
to look at this subject is the pollution that these snowmobiles create. Tests have been done to prove
that just one snowmobile creates the same amount of pollution that of 100 automobiles (The New
York Times, 2002). They generate up to 68% of all the carbon monoxide and up to 90% of all the
hydrocarbons emitted in the park. This has been proven to be a huge factor when it comes to nature
along with the plants and animals in the area. The problems I see from overturning President
Clintons ban on the park consists of many different aspects. First would be the controversy that the

Abortion Vs Pro Life Essay
Introduction Abortion is a big social issue. Either being a Pro Life or a Pro Choice. Choosing a
life or aborting the life of a baby. When the baby is inside the womb, the mother or family has the
choice to either keep the baby or have an abortion. People need to know what all happens in an
abortion, and if they are Pro Life or a Pro Choice person. Description The abortion issue is a case
where the doctor terminates a pregnancy. Abortions are preformed normally before the third
trimester. People around the world are in a jam. They are fighting about if being pro choice is
right or if being pro life is right. The bigger issue here is the partial birth abortion (Gill, 2016). A

I am not the one that says that handicapped children should be aborted. No. I am the one that says
it is wrong on all terms. The crazy thing is that there is at least 210,000,000 pregnancies a year,
and 75,000,000 are abortions. Out of those abortions 21,600,000 of them are unsafe. Out of
those unsafe abortions there have been about 8,500,000 mothers needed to have medical
attention because they were either depressed, or very injured. 47,000 mothers have died in those
abortions. To me that is just very depressing and sad. They say the babies can t feel anything.
That s where they are very wrong. An unborn baby is able to feel pain at the earliest of 8 weeks,
at 20 weeks the baby can feel more pain than the average human. Some abortions can be because
of rape , no 99% of abortions have nothing to do with rape. The sad thing is that if you work out
the numbers theres about 1.3 million abortions a year. 1.3 million divided by 365 days, comes
out to 3,500 a day. 3,500 a day divided by 24 hours, comes out to 145 an hour. 145 divided by 1
hour(60 min), that sadly comes out to 2 per min. Coming from a Catholic background and
growing up always knowing that abortion is a bad thing, I can make my own opinions on things
and knowing all the facts and all the stats I can say for myself that abortion is

The Design Tool That I Will Use For My Research
The design tool that I will use for my research case of study is the survey. Survey represents one
of the most frequent types of quantitative in social science research. By utilizing the method of
survey research, as a researcher I can cull a sample of respondents from a population and
administers a uniform questionnaire to them; in this case the children ages 10 13 yrs old and their
parents from an aftercare program. The questionnaire, or survey, will be an indicated document that
will be consummated by the person that will be surveyed, throughout a questionnaire, a face to face
interview, or a telephone interview. By utilizing a survey, will accumulate data from diminutive
populations that every so often referred to as the macrocosm of a study. According to Bradburn and
Sudman (1988) the benefits of using this tool over other tools are: Surveys are quite less expensive.
Surveys are utilizable in unfolding the characteristics of an astronomically immense population. No
other method of observation can provide this general competence. They can be administered from
remote locations utilizing mail, email or telephone. Consequently, prodigiously and sizably
voluminous samples are feasible, making the results statistically consequential even when analyzing
multiple variables. Many questions can be given as a topic giving considerable litheness to the
analysis. There is flexibility at the engenderment phase in deciding how the questions will be

The Patriarchal Male Discourse
Offred s technique of revealing the patriarchal male discourse is by describing Gilead using the
language and truth of the new regime. The issue at hand here is whether this truth is portrayed
from a solely critical standpoint. I would argue that Offred is aware of a different truth but presents
it in a way that creates a hesitancy of whether she has been affected by the Gilead truth. In other
words, it is unclear whether Gilead s discourse has led her to view its values as somewhat
acceptable. An example of this is when she is at the doctors to test her fertility since her function as
a Handmaid is merely to conceive a child. The doctor offers to impregnate her himself as her
commander might be sterile. This is forbidden but the risk of getting caught is minimal. Despite
this she hesitates: [ I could help you , he says. Whispers. What? I say... I could help you. I ve

of the old guys can t make it any more... or they re sterile. I almost gasp: he said a forbidden

The USA PATRIOT is an acronym for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate
Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (the USA Patriot Act). It was made to provide
the United States government with certain tools and weapons to fight against terrorism around the
globe. The USA Patriot Actviolates American civil liberties and is unconstitutional by restricting

There are over 370 of these words that will flag an ordinary American citizen to be searched.
Imagine how many people search these words on a day to day basis. This is why the Patriot Act
does not help fight terrorism but rather loads government agencies with useless data and threatens
Americans right to freedom of speech: The Patriot Act s provisions are really a grab bag of
governmental powers that have been sought over the years preceding September 11th, 2001 and
rejected as antithetical to civil liberties (Maag). History showed us previously to the Patriot Act
that sometimes Americans realize some legislation in the United States government needs to be
rechecked, revised, or revoked. History has taught us that repressive laws adopted in previous
times of crisis (like the Alien and Sedition Act of seventeen ninety eight; restrictions on free speech,
and the notorious Palmer Raids during WWI; the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII;
blacklists and domestic spying during and after the Cold War/McCarthy era) were eventually
recognized as unnecessary at best, and dangerous (The Patriot Act Is Not a Good Antiterrorism
Tool). History tends to repeat itself and the Patriot Act is a good example. The Patriot Act violates
the First Amendment by taking away American rights to freedom of

Hegemonic Masculinity Essay
When someone thinks of a man the first thing that comes to mind is a large man, the epitome of
strength and toughness, but where did they get that idea. More often than not people get their ideas
of masculinity from the shows and movies they watch throughout their lives. In the article
Hegemonic masculinity in media contents, by Peter J. Kareithi, he focuses much more specifically
on how the media has presented it to the public, and less of the why, and how it started. The paper
by Connell and Messerschmidt, Hegemonic Masculinity: Rethinking the Concept, does a much
better job at explaining the history of hegemonic masculinityand how it came to be. Though
together the two articles give the reader a complete sense of what the focus is, and... Show more

In their research, they found that many researchers in the field of men s studies presumed a
complete separation from women that they did not even take them into consideration and only
analyzing masculinity by looking only at men and relations among men (Connell 837). Many of the
arguments on the idea of masculinity are over who in the world actually represents hegemonic
masculinity. The two competing concepts that they present are whether societies use a fixed type of
masculinity or that a society reverts to whatever type of man is dominant at a particular time and
place. They agree that the ambiguity of what it means to be masculine, is important because it
allows researchers to identify the mechanisms of hegemony more easily. They point to how
regions develop models of masculine conduct which are spread by the media and celebrated by
the state (838). Connell and Messerschmidt use the example of the USSR s celebration of the
Stakhanovite industrial worker, named for the coal miner Aleksandr Stakhanov who in 1935
hewed a world record 102 tons of coal in a single day, triggering a scramble by other workers to
beat the record. The reality of it is that the claimed feats of Stakhanov did not acknowledge the
contributions of his coworkers in his record setting day of work. In the final section of their paper
Connell and Messerschmidt lay out how they believe that the idea of

The several million Mouse Clubbers had a secret handshake, special member greeting, code of

Who Should Determine The Destiny Of Tana River Communities
Who Should Determine the Destiny of Tana River Communities in 2017?
Tana River is a multi ethnic County that is gifted with abundant natural resource wealth, which
includes, among others water sources, fertile land, beautiful beaches, forests and wild game. These
resources have never been fully exploited in favour of the communities in the County. Since
independence, the successive governments deliberately renounced to listen to the plight of the
communities by yielding insignificant attention by not prioritizing Tana River Districtin their
community empowerment and development agendas the dark days of the single party dictatorship.
More so, the aspects of poor leadership from some of the previous government and political
officials, who behaved in a servile manner, and the unwarranted internal ethnic acrimonies have
endorsed the current contemptible state of the County. Consequently, the County is marred by poor
infrastructure, dilapidated and non existence (in some areas) of health facilities, impoverished
communities, insecurity, virtually non existence of clean water and sanitation facilities, low
education standards among others. In five words, therefore, we can confidently state that, These
communities have been marginalized, and if the status quo remains, procreation of marginalized
offspring is inescapable. So, what promise has been enshrined in the promulgated constitution in
relation to the predicaments prescribed above?

The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini
In the novel, The Kite Runner , written by Khaled Hosseini, was taken place in Afghanistan during
the 1970 s to the year of 2002. Many historical events happened during this time period and
Hosseini portrayed it into his novel. Kabul, the capitol of Afghanistan, was a free, living area for
many Afghanistan families to enjoy the life they were given. Until one day, Afghanistanwas then
taken over and attacked. In the novel, Amir, the protagonist, must redeem himself and the history
behind his actions because of his past decisions and make himself good again for the Afghanistan
people.

Hazara have different appearances than Pashtun. They called him flat nosed because of Ali and
Hassan s characteristics Hazara Mongolid features (Hosseini 8). The Hazara were Mogul
descendants and their eyes were slightly slanted. This conflict happened in society when Abdur
Rahman Khan became the king of Afghanistan. Khan did not like the Hazara people. He had a
negative approach with them and gave them all a tough time living in Afghanistan. If Baba
never let Ali and Hassan live with them on their property, then Ali and Hassan would be living in
the Kazarasjat Mountains. A place that no one wants to be living. Baba and Ali are half
brothers. They kept that a secret from everyone for a long period of time. Since Hassan and
Amir were best friends, when they would go out to fly their kites or just go out to play and read
on rocks, the Pashtuns kids would look at Amir and wonder why he was friends with a Hazara
boy. In the novel, a Pashtun boy and his friends ask Amir why he is friends with a Hazara boy. If
Hassan never lived with Amir, they would have never been friends. Amir does not find out until
later on in the story that him and Hassan are actually related. He finds out when he gets the phone
call to come back to Afghanistan.

Why I Became An Ame Ministry
After graduation, I searched for jobs and most of the time I froze up in the interviews. The only
interview I nailed was an interview for teaching position for Duval County School Board.
Therefore, I became a part of the teaching profession in the fall of 1998 teaching Biology, Algebra
I, Physical Science, and Chemistry in different years up until 2001. Additional, I was a science
adjunct professor for two years at FloridaCommunity College in Jacksonville. I started the five year
process of becoming an AME ministry with my initial sermon in December of 1998 at Wayman
Chapel AME Church and my pastor was Rev. Mark L. Griffin. The church voted for me to be
licensed in the quarterly conference in January 1999. I was examined by Presiding Elder DeSue in
January 1999, examined by the District Conference in February 1999, and examined by the East
FloridaConference of the Eleventh Episcopal District of the AME Church Board of Examiners in
April 1999.
Instructors advised me to attend seminary while I was attending the Board of Examiners. They
explained I would have a better understanding of scripture, God, myself, and my calling. Finally,
in October of 1999, I was admitted on trial in the Annual Conference of the East Florida
Conference of the AME Church. I entered Candler School of Theology in the fall of 2001.
September 11 was soon to follow along with the death of my stepfather. Death entered my life. I

Technology on the Rise
Technology has been growing throughout the years; ever changing and evolving in all new
ways. It has come natural to us by now, to use technology on anything and everything. We use
technology for even the littlest things, such as looking up a recipe for a meal, or the name of an
actor. It seems to be that the more technology develops, the more addicted and the more
dependent we become. If we really think about how many times we use technology a day, we
will start to realize how much it has consumed us. Think about how many times a day you see
someone on their phone, or on a computer. Now you start to realize how addicted we are. It s so
common for us to use and see people use technology, that we take it for granted and never think

People who use their cell phones while driving are not only a danger to themselves but to
everyone else on the road. It s estimated that at least 23% of all car accidents each year involve
cell phone use that s 1.3 million crashes. (Statistics, lines 38 39) The increased use in cellular
devices seems to be very distracting to drivers and therefore becoming a hazard. Sometimes, you
might catch someone walking into a wall or bumping into others, as if they were a zombie,
because they are too distracted by their technology. As technology can help save our lives in
many different ways, it can also be what causes our lives to be at risk; we should be cautious and
careful how we use it and never become zombified by it. Technology has not only made things
easier for us but has made things in life a lot faster. Cars, trains, planes, and boats have made
traveling around the world so much faster. Places that would take us days to get by car, we can
simply take a plane and get there in a few hours. Phone calls, texting, E mail, and social media
have made it so much faster to talk to friends who live hours always or even across the world.
You can now Facetime or Skype with family and friends to keep in touch, face to face. Computers
now make sending files to jobs, schools, and friends very fast and efficient. Technology allows us
to do many things much faster, but does that make us more dependent on it. Most people have had

Three Weeks On A Deserted Island
For how many years has man asked the question, what three items would you bring with you if
you were stranded on a deserted island? Well today that question will be answered. In the
following essay it will be proven that an axe, a deep metal skillet, and very large spool of thick
rope, would be the three items, which would help someone best survive for three weeks on a
deserted island. This will be proven through careful analysis of the uses of these items.

items are numerous in amount. The first reason, is that something sharp would be needed in order

As previously stated the purification of this water is absolutely necessary for human survival.
Now there is more than one way that the water could be purified, but this is the simplest way to
do it with the least amount of materials. Now another thing that the skillet could be used for
would be as a weapon, to possibly immobilize a pig or other creature. The skillet could be taken
in one hand, and then the motion of beating the pig over the head could be used repeatedly, until
the pig was either dead or unconscious. Then if the pig was not dead the beating motion could
be continued with this or other weapons until it is sure that he is dead. A good sign to make
sure he s dead is when there is no heart beat, as well as severe infractions or fissures in his head.
Then all that would be left would be to cut the pigs head off and roast it over the fire like the
beast it is. The skillet could also be used in assistance of building a shelter. The skillet could be
used as a weight. The rope could be tied to the handle securely, then the skillet could be thrust
upward over a tree branch in order to secure the shelter to a tree, which would make it much more
secure in the event of adverse weather conditions. Also if necessary, the entire shelter could be
built in the tree. In that case the skillet could be used again to thrust into the tree with the rope, but
it could be used this time in order to climb up and then build from there using the rope and

Jack Dangermond once said, In a nursery, if you don t take care of those plants, your profits get

John Hegger wrote an article about the causes of criminal behavior in which he stated that our
experiences growing up have the capability to shape our view of the world and also have a direct
impact on one s ability to make rational decisions . When kids grow up in neighborhoods where
there are high crime and violence rates, they are more likely to act similar to the behavior they
see. According to Salehi, recent studies show that during the last 5 years, 60 percent of the entire
world s city residents have, directly or indirectly, been a victim of violence, crime, and felony.
Thus, the increasing crime rate, violent or non violent, is a serious threat to all the urban societies
of the world (6). This proves that the environments and societies around us have contributed
towards creating more violence, crime, and felony. When children are raised in these environments,
they are more susceptible to live similar, violent lives. As mentioned previously, negative home
environments have been known to be a cause of poor language development, behavioral issues,

means that the point of view of this poem is first person. In this song, Eminemis recounting events

For one thing, I realized that this poem has no setting, and that there isn t a particular event.
Then, I examined the figurative language of the song, and if there are any patterns. The
Monster is mostly made up of figurative language, making it quite thought provoking. I noticed
that it all refers back to his fame and his struggles. Basically, all of the figurative language is
about the same topic. I also noticed that there are two main types that the author uses: idioms
/expressions and similes. ...For wanting my cake I eat it too, and wanting it both ways is an
example of an idiom used in the song. Going cuckoo and cooky as Kool Keith and Ironic cause I
think I m getting so huge I need a shrink are only two of the many similes in The Monster.
Thirdly in my deep analysis of this song, I determined the structure of this poem. I came to
conclusions that every stanza has sixteen (16) line plus a (1) line leading into the chorus. So every
stanza includes seventeen (17) lines. In addition, I determined that there is a lot of rhyming, but
there seems to be no

Trade barriers between Mexico, Canada, and the United States were mean to be broken down by the
American Free Trade Agreement which would create jobs as well as close the wagegap between the
United States and Mexico. Commondreams.org states that after NAFTA was cunstructed between
the two countries, Recession of 2008 worsened the downward trend, especially for Hispanics.
Mexico s U.S corn engulfed the Mexican market and by doing so, millions of jobs were lost

economy, improves efficiency and innovation, drives competitiveness, and promotes fairness. I
strongly feel as if free trade does more bad than good considering it causes people to lose jobs,
hurts the middle class, and creates economic chain reactions. Free trade currently has no impact on

Invasion or external compression can cause an SVC blockage. One way external compression can
occur is by the involvement of lymph nodes. When cancer is present in the body, there is a chance
that it can spread to surrounding lymph nodes. If this occurs, the lymph nodes can enlarge and
compress the SVC and cause an obstruction. Other ways external compression can occur are by
the right lung, other mediastinal structures, or by thrombosis of blood within the vein itself. As
blood flow becomes blocked, the blood from the upper body is unable to drain back into the heart
correctly. These collaterals provide an alternate pathway so the blood can ultimately reach the right
atrium. Collateral veins can originate from the azygos vein, lateral thoracic, inter mammary, and
esophageal venous systems. Over a time period of several weeks, the alternate pathways begin to
dilate which results in venous pressure in the upper body to elevate. By the venous pressure
remaining elevated, signs and symptoms will become noticeable. How quickly the signs and
symptoms manifest is dependent upon how fast the SVC becomes congested in relation to the
formation of venous collaterals. Research states that Patients with malignant disease may develop
symptoms of SVC syndrome within weeks to months because rapid tumor growth does not allow
adequate time to develop collateral flow. (Drews and Rabkin) Out of all the signs and symptoms

Vasovagal Syncope, also known as fainting, neurocardiogenic syncope, and neurally mediated
syncope, is a very common condition, occurring in roughly half of all people at least once within
their life; three percent of the population develops it repeatedly. It is not a serious condition.(2) A
vasovagal response involves a decrease in the volume of blood that is returned to the heart, which
enervates the baroreceptors(2) in the sympathetic nervous system to increase the force of each
contraction of the heart. Consequently, the opposing parasympathetic nervous system is alerted to
slow the heart rate and dilate the surrounding veins and arteries. These responses of the nervous
system cause the blood pressure to drop very low, causing syncope (loss of consciousness).(1)
Most patients are young and healthy, although vasovagal syncope can occur in the elderly
population that has preexisting cardiac problems. Extremely hot weather and blood alcohol levels
are typical triggers. Some patients suffer from several, often attacks, while others may only
experience them sporadically.(3)
While standing, the blood tends to settle in the legs.

industry wide sources of competitive advantage? Which ones matter to Mondavi? Why?
I apply Porter s Five Forces to analyst the current status of Mondavi s external environment as
follows
(Grant, page 69):
1.Industry Rivalry:
There are many competitors in this industry, but the main competitor of the company is Gallo

changed to off premise because people started buying wine from supermarkets and wholesaler
clubs (Roberto, exhibit 11). This change leads to the more price sensitivity because the consumers
had more chance to compare a price before making a decision to buy bottles of wine. Therefore, the
bargaining power s customer is dramatically increased.
There are two sources of the industry wide of competitive advantage, including cost advantage and
differentiation advantage (Grant, paage178). From my analysis, Mondavi can apply both sources
to use with its products, but it should use one competitive advantage at a time. For instance,
according to exhibit 4 in Jug and pop pre segments, Woodbridge should be applied to the cost
advantage because the price competition in this type of wine was very aggressive at that time.
Thus, the company has to reduce costs to compete with other competitors. However, referring to
exhibit 4 in luxury prem segment, the company should apply the differentiation advantage for
Robert Mondavi (RM)Winery and RM Coastal Private Selection because these two brands target
the high end customers caring for the quality rather than the price. According to the Porter s
generic strategies (Grant, page 178), the company does not in the scope of a single segment;
therefore, the industry wide method would be a suitable one for the company. For this reason, the

Disadvantages Of Razor Blades
Introduction
Razor blades are a common topic in the world of consumers. They are available in many different
variations and from many different brands. Differences in price are huge, often resulting in
frustrations from consumers. In this thesis, I will try to explain differences between the brands by
taking a closer look at the technical aspects of the available razor blades.
Diamond like carbon is a class of amorphous carbon material which displays some typical
properties of diamond. This material is often applied as coating to other materials so that it can
benefit from some of the material properties of the DLC (diamond like carbon). It is known that
one of the properties of a DLC is a high hardness, which, on the other hand, makes it difficult to
bond the material to most metals. Some processes are known to tackle this problem, which we will
discuss later. [1]
Around the year 2000 more became known about the attractive properties of diamond like carbons
and Gillette, the market leader of razor blades, saw its potential. Gillette patented the use of
particular DLC s applied to the cutting edges of the razors. By that it improved the hardness, shave
ability and corrosion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often people do not understand why the shaving experience could be so different. This is possibly
caused by the DLC s, which may not be used by store brands because of patents. Gillette has been

Cyrus The Great Thesis
Cyrus II otherwise known as Cyrus the Great was the first Achaemenid emperor. Cyrus II was
born around 580 B.C. in Anshan, Iran (Persia) in which Cyrus was supposed to have been said
to grow up there. Cyrus is supposedly the grandson of the Median king Astyages. When Cyrus
was born, Astyages had a dream that one day Cyrus would overthrow him as the ruler. As a result
of this dream, he ordered for baby Cyrus to be left in the mountains to die, but he was found by
some herders who then raised him as their own. After 10 years, Astyages heard that the boy that he
had sent to the mountains had not been killed after all, but had lived, so he allowed him to return to
his birth parents. When Cyrus turned twenty one, he finally got to take over the throne and become
the emperor of Anshan. At the time when he had... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cyrus may not have done this all on his own. The leader of Cilicia, which was part of Asia
Minor, had helped him out when he went to overthrow Croesus. Cyrus was one of the of the
most notorious leaders, conquerors, and administrators of the ancient world. He is credited for
being the one to start and make the Achaemenian Empire prosper. After Cyrus s death his empire
didn t die with him, it actually kept expanding and growing more and more for the next two
centuries. He has been placed high on the pedestal in the minds of many of the Persian peoples,
along with those of the Romans who think very highly of Romulus and Remus who had
supposedly built Rome from the ground up to what it was, and still is today. Cyrus is appreciated
by the Iranian (Persian) society even to this day because of how his life started with him being
taken to the mountains to die, how he overcame many obstacles to build his great empire, how he

A Comparison Of Kusamakura And Narrow Road To The Interior
Nature is inspiring and sometimes we forget the healing it brings to the soul. The novels
Kusamakura and Narrow Road to the Interior deal in great part with Zen Buddhism, likewise with
nature and how is it part of everyday life. Even though is difficult to achieve complete peacefulness,
naturehelps us step outside our shells, our drama, our mental dilemmas and become capable of
appreciating life on life terms. Nature is in all our surroundings, it even appears in dreams and
both novels do a great job captivating natures beauty in poems. Some of these poems are haiku
poems that contain originally 17 syllables. They are short poems that capture a big piece of beauty,
of nature through time.

Their Eyes Were Watching God Women s Roles Essay
Women s Roles
Approximately 80 years ago, women were often objectified and not treated correctly. Today in
society, there are many new standards that we commonly try to live up to. We would like to have
equality with many things, rather it be race, gender, etc. But, early in the 1900s, many women were
not treated equally. Their Eyes Were Watching God, written by Zora Neale Hurston, is about a
woman, named Janie, growing up attempting to find true love. She wants a man who will treat her
unlike most women, for she doesn t want to feel like she is a person of ownership. Women were
often seen as owned property. Hurston shows us how women are often viewed as objects of
ownership.
Every woman dreams of finding the right guy that will treat her amazing and equal; Many women
will having trouble when obtaining true love. The main character, Janie, has much trouble with
men. Janie dreams of finding true love, to be treated well, and loved unconditionally. Although, the
men do not treat her how she wants to be treated. Hurston shows us that Janie s first two husbands

treated correctly . In some cases, the women would not agree with how they were treated, but they
just wouldn t say anything. But, this woman, she actually agreed with the old times beliefs. She
agrees with objectification of women. She sees it as men having ownership over the woman. I m
not quite sure why Hurston made this woman s feelings like that, but I m sure there s some
significance. I guess, in a way, she is similar to

Templar Car History
Some you ancient ones may have heard of the Templar automobile. It was manufactured in
Lakewood, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, from 1917 until 1924. There were at least thirty car
manufacturers in northeast Ohio during these years. The founders of the Templar Motor Company
were a group of Knights Templar who were involved in the paving and construction businesses.
Sources differ on these details, but some of the names identified with the venture include M.F.
Bramley, Arthur M. Dean, J.E. Mathews, W.J. Hunkin and D.C. Reed. They named their car
Templar , and selected the Maltese Cross as its emblem. This emblem appeared on the door sills,
hub caps, gas pedal, arm rests and boarding steps. The name was an excellent choice, invoking...

race car driver of the era, was a promoter for Templar. He challenged all comers to match his
Templar in speed, endurance and reliability. In 1919 he drove a Templar from New York to
Chicago in twenty seven hours. This was six hours faster than the previous record, and was
accomplished over 992 miles of mud, rain and detours, with an average speed of 36.9 mph. In
1921 he set a new record for a run from Akron to Cleveland in twenty five minutes, averaging
over sixty mph. This record was certified by the AAA. The Templar Motor Company went out of
business due to post war depression, supplier problems and a fire at the factory. But mostly it
was competition. These cars were individually hand made, while Ford and others used production
lines and interchangeable parts. This lack of modern manufacturing capability doomed most of
the fancy autos of the period. A Cleveland bank seized the company s assets for default on a loan

Click chemistry, vivo system, Huisgen 1,3 dipolar cycloaddition, CuAAC, Diels Alder reaction
Introduction:
The phrase click chemistry was invented by K. Barry Sharpless in 1998, and was first integrally
described by Sharpless, Hartmuth Kolb, and M.G. Finn of The Scripps Research Institute in
2001.[1][2]
In Chemical synthesis, Click Chemistry is a category bio compatible reactions which have
potential to be the special synthesis way of specific bio molecules. It is not an isolated specific
synthesis reaction, but include a sort of relevant products, which also engenders big molecule by
linking small specific molecules together. Usually click reactions link a bio molecule and a target
molecule. Click chemistry is not limited to biological field, the idea of a click reaction has been
applied in pharmacological and various bio mimetic applications. However, they have been made
significantly appliance in the detection, localization and qualification of bio molecules.
Click reactions are one pot reactions, which are not hindered by water, generate mineral salt and
inoffensive byproducts, and are characterized by a high thermodynamic driving

Disegno, which means drawing, was the most important element in attempting to achieve
perfection. Disengo was found not only in painting, but also in all areas of Florentine art. The
importance of nature in Florentine resulted in the study of the natural world, anatomy, and
movement. Artists would develop their concepts in detail on separate parchment paper and then
transfer them. A work that represents disegno would be Leonardo Da Vinci
, The Fetus and Lining of
the Uterus. Leonardo used his technique of hatched shading and careful contours to create careful
contours to describe volume and movement in two artfully posed figures (Sorabella 1). His
drawings placed sensitivity on shading and the tones.
In Venice, artists used the colorito, defined as color, to create work with a sense of life. The color
palette used by Venetians was a slightly less vivid then Florentine palette, but the colors were
layered and blended to achieve a glowing richness. Venetian artists gradually softened their coloring
until their manner equaled nature. Venetians attempted to equal nature through the use of light and
how light will affect the body. And unlike Florentine painting, compositions were placed directly on
the canvas through colored brushstrokes. Titan s Venus and Adonis, is a good example of how
Venetian artists used color to recreate nature. Titan is able to create the mood through intense color

Socioeconomic Status And Mental Health Essay
Enormous amounts of research have linked socioeconomic status to mental health, especially in
children and adolescents. Low poverty levels have been specifically identified as a key causal factor
in developing mental health problems in children. There has been much discussion over the
different theories as to why this is the case, but only two of these theories seem to hold a lot of
evidence. Certain interventions and preventative measures can be employed in order to improve an
individual s mental health by altering socioeconomic status and they have proven to be successful.
Low socioeconomic status has a profound impact on mental health in children; however, if the
appropriate interventions and preventative measures are used, mental health outcomes can be
drastically improved. Socioeconomic status is a complex construct that is based on household
income, material resources, education, and occupation, as well as related neighborhood and family
characteristics, such as exposure to violence and toxins, parental care and provision of a cognitively
stimulating environment. (Hackman et Al, 2010) Research has shown that low socioeconomic
status has a huge impact on mental health in children and adolescents, primarily due to the
associated stress and effects related to poverty. There are three primary factors or levels through
which poverty affects children/adolescents: individual, relational, and institutional. The first of
these levels, individual factors, are the factors

The Controversy Of Celebrating Christmas
Holidays are overrated. They are days made up by large retailers to prompt you to spend more
money on items that you don t need. Think about it, how much money have you spent on all the
decorations and gifts in your lifetime? If all the holidays ceased to exist, people wouldn t have
to fret about working overtime just to save up for all of the Christmas gifts or if they have
enough money to buy dye for the eggs during Easter (Participial Phrase). Who needs a nine foot
tall pine tree in their living room? What family needs to eat a whole turkey in the matter of hours?
(Rhetorical Question) Celebrating the new year is pointless, the only thing that changes is the date,
everything else remains the same. Many years ago holidays had some sort of... Show more content

world you are going to have enough money to purchase all of the gifts for your loved ones,
causing you to work more, decreasing your time to buy these gifts, all leading to even more
stress. There is enough stress in a person s life on a normal day. Adding all of the stress of these
pointless holidays can be eliminated if the holidays are eradicated. Without holidays we would
have more days to work, less family bonding and five day straight work weeks, every week of
the year. What more could a person ask for? Stress, made up characters, lost meanings, excessive
spending, are all valid reasons why holidays should be eliminated from the calendar and from our
lives (Asyndeton). With all of the issues created from these holidays, it s better to cut our ties to

A Experiment On Actin And Myosin
Abstract
Research was conducted on Actin and Myosin protein; chains of amino acid residue responsible for
muscle contraction in muscle cells. Through phosphorylation, which causes changes in enzyme
activity as result of an alteration in protein conformation, the Myosin Light Chain ВЅ stimulates and
subsequently contracts the smooth muscle. Concentrations of the protein were determined and
analyzed among Catfish, Atlantic Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Shrimp, Red Tuna, Red Snapper,
Tilapia, and Wild Cod. Electrophoresis provided a method of visualization of the samples, where
Immunodection was then used to identify Actin/Myosin Light Chain ВЅ proteins. Wild Cod
expressed the most Myosin LC ВЅ protein, whereas Shrimp expressed the least. Furthermore, both
Wild Cod and Shrimp differed considerably in comparison to the determined volume intensity of the
other seafood samples, which were closer in expression levels with one another. Animal behavior
and habitat are factors that have overtime resulted in the overall amount and subsequent use of
muscle. Thus analyzing the variance in Actin/Myosin ВЅ light chain protein expression serves as a
tool in understanding adaptation and evolution among species.
Introduction Actin and Myosin proteins serve the primary role of producing muscle contraction.
Myosin molecules will create pressure in the skeletal muscle, where ATP hydrolysis causes Myosin
to bind to Actin. A conformational change of the molecule then result in Myosin being

Importance Of A Healthy City
Cities are amongst the greatest of human creations. The definition of a healthy city by the World
Health Organization is one that continually creates, improves its physical and social environment
and expands the community resources that enable people to mutually support each other in
performing all the functions of life and developing to their maximum potential. ( What is a healthy
city? ) Such that, the health is a crucial factor in shaping a healthy living environment as it can be a
clear indicator showing the quality of life of the city. In the 21st century, the city is managed and
organised by the government in order make sure the city is operating efficiently and healthily to
provide an ideal living environment for residents. It is controversial that what area should the city
take care of the individuals while health is mentioned most of the time. In many studies and
researches, the case happened in history, and present days has indicated that the city should take
responsibility for the health of its individual in the 21st century. The responsibilities of health
management can be applied directly or indirectly through policies to sustain the quality of the
environment and the health of individuals. It is not only about the economic development, but also
the health of individuals. It is true that health cannot be assured by the city, but the public health
can be kept to a high standard while the city which is the government and the individual taking care

The Morality Of Bystanders In The Holocaust
It is a challenge to reconcile human beliefs in compassion and morality with the actions, or
inactions, of bystanders in the Holocaust. How is it possible that hundreds of thousands of people
stood by while millions faced pain and suffering? Before exonerating or condemning all of them, it
is necessary to consider the differences in bystanders. For the context of the Holocaust, a bystander
is someone who was neither a target of the Nazis or a Nazi themselves. Putting all of these
people in the same group is an oversimplification, because it ignores the power system in place
during the Holocaust and the various positions of bystanders in that system. The wealthy
business owner is not the same as the working class mother of four. In this situation, one has
considerable power and ability, and the other does not. Applying a blanket statement, and calling
the latter unjust when they are ordinary people in a time of horrific war is contrary to reason. It
is also necessary to consider the extent of bystander s actions. Have their actions merely helped to
ensure their own survival, or do they directly hurt Holocaust victims? The magnitude of each
situation is varied. In conclusion, to gauge the morality of a bystander s actions, they need to be
judged on an individual basis, with two qualities in mind: that person s ability to act and the effect
of their actions. In All But My Life, the memoir of Holocaust survivor Gerda Weissmann Klein, the
first bystanders the audience

mentality that was presented in Animal Farm the book written by George Orwell. Orwell is able
to use political rhetoric to represent communism and greed within a society. In this case the
society is conveyed by different groups of animals on Manor Farm , which symbolizes the
oppressed groups of people who lived in Russia before the Russian Revolution. Manor Farm
represents communist controlled Russia, which falls during the Russian Revolution and is then

Joseph Stalin led in taking over Russia, in Animal Farm, Napoleon takes over the farm from the
owner Mr. Jones. When Napoleon assumes responsibility of running the farm he changes the farm
name to Animal Farm , this signifies the rebellion and the Revolution. With Napoleon in charge
the former communist ruled farm changes to a socialist society where all the animals work
together and attain the same amount of food and resources. This is what Stalin tried to create
before returning to a communist society. By the end of the novel, Napoleon also goes back to
communist rule which represents the idea that socialistic societies or utopian societies do not
always work. At Animal Farm , Napoleon had nine loyal attack dogs similar to the secret police
Stalin used to carry out his commands. Snowball, another pig at Animal Farm , represents Leon
Trotsky, who was able to win the loyalty of the other animals similar to the way Trotsky was able to
win over people in Russia too. In Russia, the working class people were represented by Boxer a cart
horse who works hard and trusts the pigs to make decisions for him. This shows how the working
class people followed the laws Stalin had put into place. Just like the pigs, the working class people
played a key role in the early prosperity of Animal Farm . Like the massive projects the people

  • 2. How Did The Developement Of The Germ Theory The germ theory began when one scientist became motivated to disprove the theory of spontaneous generation. This curiosity and motivation led to major changes in the health of humanity. This theory helped the future generations while providing methods to prevent disease. The developpement of the germ theory allowed other scientists to expand on this concept and develop ways to apply information to care for individuals with disease and help in the modern world. Microorganisms are miniscule, they easily invade humans, animals and other living hosts which then lead to disease. Louis Pasteura french biologist conducted a variety of experiements, his individual geniusness and technology helped the discovery of the germ theory which radically changed the practice of medecine.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Louis Pasteur s discovery of the relationship between germ and disease was only the beginning to developping a permanent solution. The theory led to the realization that handwashing helps prevent the spread of disease and disinfection can eliminate germs. Disinfection and handwashing affected humanity because the rates of infectious disease began to decline and epidemics lasted for a shorter time spand and overall mortality decreased as a result. The introduction of the theory affected how humanity viewed the human body. People began to believe that dirt contained microorganisms and could cause an infection, which lead to bathing frequently. Alongside his discovery were his inventions, for example the machine used to screen and detect silkworm eggs which saved the European silk industry and helped prevent silkworm ... • 5. Daytona Beach Descriptive Essay Daytona Beach On the morning of June 17, 2016, I woke up with a smile on my face like it was Christmas morning. I launched myself out of bed to take a quick shower before I was to meet my friends to leave for Daytona Florida. We planned this trip months ahead of time when we found out there was a truck meet on the weekend of June 18th and 19th. The truck meet we went to was where anyone who owned a pickup truck could come down to Daytona Florida and drive on the beach to get to mingle and entertain one another for the weekend. We met at a local gas station in Morgantown Kentucky at eight that morning. There was eleven of us total going on the trip, my father, Robbie Henderson, my friend Seth Gaskey and his father, Jimmy Gaskey, my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While waiting in line we noticed they seemed to be slow with taking orders but we were starving so we decided to wait it out. After placing our orders, we were asked to wait off to the side of the window to receive the food. It thought the sun was going to set before we received our order. Finally, after forty five minutes of waiting we got our food and set down to eat. This was our first delay during the drive down and we thought as long as we did not have any more we would still arrive at a decent time. We ramped back onto the interstate after everyone finished eating and still had approximately six hours prior to arriving. While driving down the interstate we recognized a truck from Instagram that was also headed to Daytona. It was a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado that had a large lift under it with aftermarket wheels and a custom pink and white paint job. The reason it was partially pink is because it was owned by a woman. We traveled the interstate for about three hours after stopping to eat when we crossed the Florida state line and stopped at the welcome center to use the restroom. While parking we noticed an odd screeching sound coming from underneath the front end of Seth s Ford. This would become our second delay as we found out after inspecting his truck that his front passenger side wheel hub bearing was ruined. Immediately we started looking for the closest auto ... • 6. The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening Essay The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening In Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, the female protagonist, Edna Pontellier, learns about the world. Unfortunately for Edna, the world is defined in terms of love and marriage. This female awakening is really an awakening to limitations (Bloom 43). If read as a suicide, then Edna s last swim is a consequence of her awakening to the limitations of her femaleness in a male dominant society. But on a metaphysical level, The Awakening s final scene can be seen as Edna s ultimate gesture in trying to grasp the essence of her being. This essay will show that Edna s spiritual journey both begins and ends in the sea.. In the early chapters, Edna is referred to only as Mrs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sea, in this case, symbolizes samsara, the cyclical rebirths of existence, and is a product of ignorance and the failure to recognize the impermanent nature of things. On the other shore lies another rebirth. And it is by the sea that Kate Chopin first pulls Edna out from the narrative and gives her an ego by referring to her by her given name and, after walking through a sea of grass, recounts Edna s previous love interests the cavalry officer, a young gentleman, and the tragedian attachments of previous reincarnations. In other words, Edna s self is born here by inward contemplation , with the aid of the seductive odor and sonorous murmur of the sea and its loving but imperative entreaty (Chopin 56 7). The objects of her previous attachments were men, or perhaps her desire for the men of her past. In Edna s present lifetime on Grand Isle, her attachment is to Robert Lebrun, who draws Edna s ego to its fullest from Chopin s narrative and makes Edna s suffering more intense and tangible. Shortly after the reader meets Robert Lebrun and realizes that Edna Pontellier is strangely drawn to the young man (Chopin 56) the seed of Edna s attachment is thus planted Chopin prepares a series of ... • 7. Irony In Albert Camus The Plague The central irony in The Plague lies in Camus treatment of freedom. The citizens of Oran become prisoners of the plague when their city falls under total quarantine, but it is questionable whether they were really free before the plague. Their lives were strictly regimented by an unconscious enslavement to their habits. Moreover, it is questionable whether they were really alive. It is only when they are separated by quarantine from their friends, lovers and families that they most intensively love them. Before, they simply took their loved ones for granted. Camus philosophy is an amalgam of existentialism and humanism. An atheist, Camus did not believe that death, suffering, and human existence had any intrinsic moral or rational meaning. Because he did not believe in God or an afterlife, Camus held that human beings, as mortals, live under an inexplicable, irrational, completely absurd death sentence. Nevertheless, Camus did believe that people are capable of giving their lives meaning. The most meaningful action within the context of Camus philosophy is to choose to fight death and suffering. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the epidemic wears on for months, many of Oran s citizens rise above themselves by joining the anti plague effort. The recognition of the plague as a collective concern allows them to break the gap of alienation that has characterized their existence. Thus, they give meaning to their lives because they chose to rebel against death. Fleeing the city or otherwise avoiding the anti plague effort is tantamount to surrendering to the absurd death sentence under which every human being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Willy Loman Foil Foil in Death of a Salesman In the play, Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller establishes Charley, a humble and successful salesman as the foil to Willy Loman, a prideful and arrogant man. Charley is the perfect character to help depict Willy s flaws. Although the two contrast with each other, their characteristics help maintain a balance between them. Willy Loman lives in his own world, where he believes that in order to be successful, one must be well liked with a great appearance. The man who makes an appearance...is the man who gets ahead (Miller 1568). These are obvious words from Willy which proves that he does not believe in hard work. He instills within both of his children that looks and personality are all that matters. The characteristics of Willy allow us to grasp the idea that he lives within a false reality. He is a man living within a child s fantasy based off of the life of Dave Singleman. • 9. Lorenzo De Medici Influence Without the guidance and support of Lorenzo Medici, a patron of the arts who lived in Florence (1449 1492), the art and architecture of the fifteenth century and its influence on later art would not be as great as it is today. Guided by the way he was raised, those he had around him, and what he did for the art community, even as a young patron, de Medici changed the time period itself. Earning the title Lorenzo de Magnifico for his success promoting and supporting artists, and not because of his political leadership, Lorenzo Medici made an important contribution to the world of art and architecture as one of the time s major patrons. Throughout this research paper, I will write about several different aspects of de Medici s life. First... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [2] In addition to improving the structure of the church, de Medici also started to pay particular attention to the collection of books within the Palazzo Medici. Interested in creating a foundation of books for his own thinking and contribute to the library started by his grandfather, Cosimo I, de Medici sought to purchase an expanding number of books that eventually led to the expanded collection and future bases of the Biblioteca Laurenziana. The library today contains some of the most ancient or unique manuscripts from Greek antiquity, illustrating the appreciation de Medici had for classical antiquity from an early age. With these successes, de Medici did not stop his pursuit of enhancing spaces, and he because he wanted to identify and foster new talents in which he could invest money and energy, Lorenzo opened the sculpture garden in Piazza San Marco. The creation of this public space, in addition to the more obvious contributions to his family s holdings, gives the idea that de Medici really wanted to create a sense of well being for the young minds of writers and artists that surrounded him. de Medici wanted them to have their ... There are many viewpoints on this subject and I think it is hard to find the facts that have not been altered or slanted by people with their own opinions. By the year 2007 the facts are supposed to be presented and addressed to the House of Representatives. There are many ways to look at this subject. One is by the industry and how this subject could affects the local businesses. I personally would feel an affect of the banning of snowmobiles in the park. I work for a company that manufactures snowmobiles and the grooming equipment that keeps the trails open. There is a great amount of revenue that comes from the thriving industry. There are some 85,000 visitors each winter that generates over 30 million dollars throughout the three surrounding states. The other way to look at this subject is the pollution that these snowmobiles create. Tests have been done to prove that just one snowmobile creates the same amount of pollution that of 100 automobiles (The New York Times, 2002). They generate up to 68% of all the carbon monoxide and up to 90% of all the hydrocarbons emitted in the park. This has been proven to be a huge factor when it comes to nature along with the plants and animals in the area. The problems I see from overturning President Clintons ban on the park consists of many different aspects. When the baby is inside the womb, the mother or family has the choice to either keep the baby or have an abortion. People need to know what all happens in an abortion, and if they are Pro Life or a Pro Choice person. Description The abortion issue is a case where the doctor terminates a pregnancy. Abortions are preformed normally before the third trimester. People around the world are in a jam. They are fighting about if being pro choice is right or if being pro life is right. The bigger issue here is the partial birth abortion (Gill, 2016). A partial birth abortion is when the doctor has the baby... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am not the one that says that handicapped children should be aborted. No. I am the one that says it is wrong on all terms. The crazy thing is that there is at least 210,000,000 pregnancies a year, and 75,000,000 are abortions. Out of those abortions 21,600,000 of them are unsafe. Out of those unsafe abortions there have been about 8,500,000 mothers needed to have medical attention because they were either depressed, or very injured. 47,000 mothers have died in those abortions. To me that is just very depressing and sad. They say the babies can t feel anything. That s where they are very wrong. An unborn baby is able to feel pain at the earliest of 8 weeks, at 20 weeks the baby can feel more pain than the average human. Some abortions can be because of rape , no 99% of abortions have nothing to do with rape. The sad thing is that if you work out the numbers theres about 1.3 million abortions a year. 1.3 million divided by 365 days, comes out to 3,500 a day. 3,500 a day divided by 24 hours, comes out to 145 an hour. 145 divided by 1 hour(60 min), that sadly comes out to 2 per min. • 13. The Design Tool That I Will Use For My Research The design tool that I will use for my research case of study is the survey. Survey represents one of the most frequent types of quantitative in social science research. By utilizing the method of survey research, as a researcher I can cull a sample of respondents from a population and administers a uniform questionnaire to them; in this case the children ages 10 13 yrs old and their parents from an aftercare program. The questionnaire, or survey, will be an indicated document that will be consummated by the person that will be surveyed, throughout a questionnaire, a face to face interview, or a telephone interview. By utilizing a survey, will accumulate data from diminutive populations that every so often referred to as the macrocosm of a study. According to Bradburn and Sudman (1988) the benefits of using this tool over other tools are: Surveys are quite less expensive. Surveys are utilizable in unfolding the characteristics of an astronomically immense population. No other method of observation can provide this general competence. They can be administered from remote locations utilizing mail, email or telephone. Consequently, prodigiously and sizably voluminous samples are feasible, making the results statistically consequential even when analyzing multiple variables. Many questions can be given as a topic giving considerable litheness to the analysis. There is flexibility at the engenderment phase in deciding how the questions will be administered: as ... The issue at hand here is whether this truth is portrayed from a solely critical standpoint. I would argue that Offred is aware of a different truth but presents it in a way that creates a hesitancy of whether she has been affected by the Gilead truth. In other words, it is unclear whether Gilead s discourse has led her to view its values as somewhat acceptable. An example of this is when she is at the doctors to test her fertility since her function as a Handmaid is merely to conceive a child. The doctor offers to impregnate her himself as her commander might be sterile. This is forbidden but the risk of getting caught is minimal. Despite this she hesitates: [ I could help you , he says. History showed us previously to the Patriot Act that sometimes Americans realize some legislation in the United States government needs to be rechecked, revised, or revoked. History has taught us that repressive laws adopted in previous times of crisis (like the Alien and Sedition Act of seventeen ninety eight; restrictions on free speech, and the notorious Palmer Raids during WWI; the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII; blacklists and domestic spying during and after the Cold War/McCarthy era) were eventually recognized as unnecessary at best, and dangerous (The Patriot Act Is Not a Good Antiterrorism Tool). More often than not people get their ideas of masculinity from the shows and movies they watch throughout their lives. In the article Hegemonic masculinity in media contents, by Peter J. Kareithi, he focuses much more specifically on how the media has presented it to the public, and less of the why, and how it started. The paper by Connell and Messerschmidt, Hegemonic Masculinity: Rethinking the Concept, does a much better job at explaining the history of hegemonic masculinityand how it came to be. In their research, they found that many researchers in the field of men s studies presumed a complete separation from women that they did not even take them into consideration and only analyzing masculinity by looking only at men and relations among men (Connell 837). Many of the arguments on the idea of masculinity are over who in the world actually represents hegemonic masculinity. The two competing concepts that they present are whether societies use a fixed type of masculinity or that a society reverts to whatever type of man is dominant at a particular time and place. They agree that the ambiguity of what it means to be masculine, is important because it allows researchers to identify the mechanisms of hegemony more easily. They point to how regions develop models of masculine conduct which are spread by the media and celebrated by the state (838). Connell and Messerschmidt use the example of the USSR s celebration of the Stakhanovite industrial worker, named for the coal miner Aleksandr Stakhanov who in 1935 hewed a world record 102 tons of coal in a single day, triggering a scramble by other workers to beat the record. The reality of it is that the claimed feats of Stakhanov did not acknowledge the contributions of his coworkers in his record setting day of work. One way external compression can occur is by the involvement of lymph nodes. When cancer is present in the body, there is a chance that it can spread to surrounding lymph nodes. If this occurs, the lymph nodes can enlarge and compress the SVC and cause an obstruction. Other ways external compression can occur are by the right lung, other mediastinal structures, or by thrombosis of blood within the vein itself. As blood flow becomes blocked, the blood from the upper body is unable to drain back into the heart correctly. These collaterals provide an alternate pathway so the blood can ultimately reach the right atrium. Collateral veins can originate from the azygos vein, lateral thoracic, inter mammary, and esophageal venous systems. Over a time period of several weeks, the alternate pathways begin to dilate which results in venous pressure in the upper body to elevate. By the venous pressure remaining elevated, signs and symptoms will become noticeable. How quickly the signs and symptoms manifest is dependent upon how fast the SVC becomes congested in relation to the formation of venous collaterals. Vasovagal Syncope, also known as fainting, neurocardiogenic syncope, and neurally mediated syncope, is a very common condition, occurring in roughly half of all people at least once within their life; three percent of the population develops it repeatedly. It is not a serious condition.(2) A vasovagal response involves a decrease in the volume of blood that is returned to the heart, which enervates the baroreceptors(2) in the sympathetic nervous system to increase the force of each contraction of the heart. Consequently, the opposing parasympathetic nervous system is alerted to slow the heart rate and dilate the surrounding veins and arteries. These responses of the nervous system cause the blood pressure to drop very low, causing syncope (loss of consciousness).(1) Most patients are young and healthy, although vasovagal syncope can occur in the elderly population that has preexisting cardiac problems. Extremely hot weather and blood alcohol levels are typical triggers. Some patients suffer from several, often attacks, while others may only experience them sporadically.(3) While standing, the blood tends to settle in the legs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are two sources of the industry wide of competitive advantage, including cost advantage and differentiation advantage (Grant, paage178). From my analysis, Mondavi can apply both sources to use with its products, but it should use one competitive advantage at a time. For instance, according to exhibit 4 in Jug and pop pre segments, Woodbridge should be applied to the cost advantage because the price competition in this type of wine was very aggressive at that time. Thus, the company has to reduce costs to compete with other competitors. However, referring to exhibit 4 in luxury prem segment, the company should apply the differentiation advantage for Robert Mondavi (RM)Winery and RM Coastal Private Selection because these two brands target the high end customers caring for the quality rather than the price. Differences in price are huge, often resulting in frustrations from consumers. In this thesis, I will try to explain differences between the brands by taking a closer look at the technical aspects of the available razor blades. Diamond like carbon is a class of amorphous carbon material which displays some typical properties of diamond. This material is often applied as coating to other materials so that it can benefit from some of the material properties of the DLC (diamond like carbon). It is known that one of the properties of a DLC is a high hardness, which, on the other hand, makes it difficult to bond the material to most metals. Some processes are known to tackle this problem, which we will discuss later. [1] Around the year 2000 more became known about the attractive properties of diamond like carbons and Gillette, the market leader of razor blades, saw its potential. Leonardo used his technique of hatched shading and careful contours to create careful contours to describe volume and movement in two artfully posed figures (Sorabella 1). The color palette used by Venetians was a slightly less vivid then Florentine palette, but the colors were layered and blended to achieve a glowing richness. Venetian artists gradually softened their coloring until their manner equaled nature. Venetians attempted to equal nature through the use of light and how light will affect the body. Low poverty levels have been specifically identified as a key causal factor in developing mental health problems in children. There has been much discussion over the different theories as to why this is the case, but only two of these theories seem to hold a lot of evidence. Certain interventions and preventative measures can be employed in order to improve an individual s mental health by altering socioeconomic status and they have proven to be successful. Low socioeconomic status has a profound impact on mental health in children; however, if the appropriate interventions and preventative measures are used, mental health outcomes can be drastically improved. Socioeconomic status is a complex construct that is based on household income, material resources, education, and occupation, as well as related neighborhood and family characteristics, such as exposure to violence and toxins, parental care and provision of a cognitively stimulating environment. (Hackman et Al, 2010) Research has shown that low socioeconomic status has a huge impact on mental health in children and adolescents, primarily due to the associated stress and effects related to poverty. Through phosphorylation, which causes changes in enzyme activity as result of an alteration in protein conformation, the Myosin Light Chain ВЅ stimulates and subsequently contracts the smooth muscle. Concentrations of the protein were determined and analyzed among Catfish, Atlantic Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Shrimp, Red Tuna, Red Snapper, Tilapia, and Wild Cod. How is it possible that hundreds of thousands of people stood by while millions faced pain and suffering? Before exonerating or condemning all of them, it is necessary to consider the differences in bystanders. For the context of the Holocaust, a bystander is someone who was neither a target of the Nazis or a Nazi themselves. Putting all of these people in the same group is an oversimplification, because it ignores the power system in place during the Holocaust and the various positions of bystanders in that system. The wealthy business owner is not the same as the working class mother of four. In this situation, one has considerable power and ability, and the other does not. Applying a blanket statement, and calling the latter unjust when they are ordinary people in a time of horrific war is contrary to reason. It is also necessary to consider the extent of bystander s actions. Have their actions merely helped to ensure their own survival, or do they directly hurt Holocaust victims? The magnitude of each situation is varied. In conclusion, to gauge the morality of a bystander s actions, they need to be judged on an individual basis, with two qualities in mind: that person s ability to act and the effect of their actions.
