Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar was declared the Mughal emperor at age 12 after his father Humayun's death. As emperor, Akbar established the Diwan-i-aam (Hall of Public Audience) and Diwan-i-khas (Hall of Private Audience) at Fatehpur Sikri to conduct matters of state.
