High School Reflective Essay Examples
Crafting an essay on the subject of "High School Reflective Essay Examples" can be both
challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies not only in the technical aspects of essay writing
but also in the introspective nature of reflective essays. This genre demands a deep exploration
of personal experiences, emotions, and growth during high school, making it a unique and
sometimes complex task.
To begin with, one must navigate the delicate balance between self-disclosure and maintaining a
level of objectivity. Sharing personal reflections requires a thoughtful approach to avoid
oversharing or veering into overly sentimental territory. It involves a skillful blend of storytelling
and analysis, weaving together anecdotes and insights that contribute to a coherent narrative.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to selecting appropriate examples that resonate with the
intended message. It's not just about recounting events but also about delving into their
significance, the lessons learned, and the impact on personal development. This demands a level
of self-awareness and critical thinking that can be demanding, particularly for high school
students who may still be navigating their own understanding of themselves and their
experiences.
Moreover, the process requires a certain level of vulnerability. Reflective essays often delve into
moments of struggle, growth, or self-discovery, and expressing these thoughts authentically can
be emotionally taxing. It necessitates a willingness to explore one's own vulnerabilities and
uncertainties, making the writing process not only intellectually demanding but also emotionally
challenging.
In conclusion, writing a reflective essay on high school experiences requires a delicate balance of
introspection, storytelling, and critical analysis. It demands a level of self-awareness and
emotional engagement that can be both challenging and rewarding. However, for those seeking

ABSTRACT
Observed meteorological data collected by two different types of automatic weather
stations (AWS) were statistically analysed in order to verify if there were a
difference in the measurements due to the different sensor types. The hypothesis is
that the different types of AWS s will not be statistically different. Data from
January 2014 to February 2016 for six places in South Africa were analysed.
Significant differences were observed for rainfall totals, temperatures and wind
speeds by using the Wilcoxon Mann Whitney test.
1.Introduction
The objective of this study was to compare observed rainfall amounts, maximum air
temperature, minimum air temperature and maximum wind speeds at daily periods
from two different types of automatic weather stations. An automatic weather station
(AWS) is defined by the WMO (1992a) as a meteorological station where
observations are made and from which the data is transmitted automatically. The
AWS was designed to accurately measure and record standard meteorological
variables. The design of AWS s may vary from measurement rates, methods on how
the data is retrieved or the intervals of when the data is reported (Tanner, 1990).
All functional AWS s must consist of certain specific features. These
Billy Bribbit Character Analysis
Secondly, the character Billy Bibbit faces a lot of pressure, as seen with his
relationship with his mother, has a hard time fitting in with others due to his
stuttering and find challenges in coping with such things. First off, he is unable to
meet unrealistic expectations , placed upon him by his motherand enforced by the
nurse Miss Ratched. Billyalways seems to be in fear every time his mother is brought
up, and worries about disappointing her. His mother unfortunately though, is friends
with Miss.Ratched and so she uses this to her advantage, such as threatening to call
Billy s mom, ever time he steps out of line or does something wrong. It is unfortunate
though, that these women in his life keep picking on, and treating him as weak,...

With the high expectations on him, and the struggle to fit in, Billy is caught in the
middle of what other people want from him, without any way out. His stutter is
not something he can make go away, and the pressure from others to do and be
better, will always be there, since there will always be people in our lives who are
unsatisfied with something about ourselves. He also cannot erase what he has
done to cope with this, most of his scars from self harming can even be permanent
, and the guilt, or reminder of doing so, will always be there then, marked upon his
skin. Chief shows his remorse for Billy, stating, He has to be cagey Billy... What
could I do? I can t fix your stuttering. I can t wipe the razor blade scars off your
wrists or the cigarette burns off the back of your hands. I can t give you a new
mother. And as for the nurse riding you like this, rubbing your nose in your
weakness till what dignity you got left is gone and you shrink to nothing from
humiliation, I can t do anything about that either... Put your face away, Billy , (
Kesey, pg.115). This was said when the Big Nurse began trying to get Billy to open
up, during one of their therapeutic meetings and the Chief makes a very good point,
on how even if one wanted to help, it is not that easy. Chief in this quote, brings up an
What Does It Mean To Be Human
To Be Human Producers Statement
For my To Be human assignment the central theme of my drawing is what does it
mean to be human. I chose to do a comic/drawing that visually/creatively represents
four distinct things that I believe sets us humans apart from other animals. These are
four different aspects of the human condition that people, as well as myself
personally, see as the things that make us human.
The intended audience for my task is possibly more educated people who understand
the significance of these things as well as other people wanting to learn about the
roles things play on our social perception of humanity. I aim for my audience to react
with agreement and to make the connection with how they see these things in their
everyday lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Crying is believed to be almost exclusive to humans with few exceptions. People
use crying to release/convey the emotion of sadness which is crucial to our
construction of society. An animal may be sad or confused in reaction to an event
but human sadness is a much more complicated concept that has not yet been
wholly understood by science. By not not been understood I mean that
Neurologists may be able to show you the areas activated in the brain by sadness
and a psychologist may be able to discuss what things make as sad and why it does
specific to certain kinds of people but none of these of these people can explain why
it is that we cry. Some evolutionary scientists and social psychologist may try to
dumb it down to something as simple as expressing emotion socially but I believe
that it is a much more complicated and mysterious

Walker Ono Face The Gaze
A Look at Differing Approaches to Feminism Through Contemporary Art
In the fifty years between the JFK assassination and a Kardashian selfie breaking the
internet, two women representing different cultures, races, times, and attitudes
created two individual pieces of art that became living commentary on the power
dynamics at play in their world. In 1964, Yoko Ono challenged both societal
convention and the artist/audience relationship in her exhibit Cut Piece, and decades
later Kara Walkers Sugar Subtlety, 2014, challenged preconceived notions of racial
symbolism and societal convention on a historical level. For both creators, the idea
of The Gaze is explored and even featured, a term that addresses the controlling power
a dominant group holds through visualization and often through sexuality. However,
the ways in which this term is explored are different between the two women. While
Ono s work highlights and even proves the Western male domination involved in the
idea of The Gaze , fifty years later and a difference in culture sees Kara Walker s
work create an artistic and intellectual revolution against the very power the Gaze
tries to maintain, turning the concept on its head. As the surge of Second Wave
Feminism swept across the Western world of the 1960s, Japanese artist and activist
Yoko Ono created a work of performance art, entitled Cut Piece,
The Internet s Impact On Social Capital
In the 21st century humans are presented with means to impact their societies
potential in a greater way than ever before. With new technology, individuals have
astounding control over the foundations of social value. One of the most powerful
tools to mold these foundations is the Internet. After its creation in the 1950s, the
Internet has witnessed excessive and continuous growth. As more and more people
become part of the Internet s population its power to shape society s capital. To
examine this power the definition of social capital must be clarified. Former president
of the American Political Science Association, Robert Putnam explains in his book
Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community that social capital

Like food and shelter, community development has also allocated a majority of
human resources. From primitive inventions such as basic language and writing
utensils to the telephone and the Internet, humans have a communal goal to connect
more frequently and with more people. As of 2014, the Internet is the most
successful device because it increases global connection and frequency of
communication. The Internet increases community access enabling users to
communicate with forty percent of the world, over three billion people (Internet).
Increasing by almost thirty thousand users a day the Internet exhibits amounts of
efficiency surpassing that of other communication technologies (Howard 383). Before
the Internet social networks were limited to local communities. Communication
mainly occurred between people geographically close. The Internet has broken the
constraint geography placed on community. Sociologist Barry Wellman discusses the
Internets extension of society connectedness in Connecting Community: On and
Offline. With the Internet, people have global connectivity and [i]nstead of being
bound up in a neighborhood community where all know all people create networks
based on their unique traits not proximity (Wellman 25,27). Through this increased
exchange between diverse people the global social capital is increased as well. The
world as one large society sees a connectedness that benefits everyone as a whole and

Arthur Miller s most famous play, Death of a salesman, was published in 1949.
The Broadway premiere was February 10, 1949.The setting takes place in New

just never good enough for Willy. Happy is pretty successful he has the same
thinking strategy as his father which is get rich quick. Happy has everything he
could ask for a job, girls and money, but Happy isn t truly happy. His unhappiness
comes from his father always putting him second. If Biff and Happy where to be
categorized in a generation they would be in generation Z because they are lazy,
unmotivated, and indecisive. After Biff dropped out of high school he went to
many jobs he said, I spent six or seven years after high school trying to work myself

indecisive on what he wants to do in a career choice. Huff Post Teen says that
Generation Z would work at one place of business then move on to another. Unlike
other typical generations who stick to one place work there for a long time then
retire. In the article, Characteristics of the Greatest Generation they quote, the 41st
president of the united states, was a navy air corps pilot who survived after being
shot down during a bombing run on a Japanese target. This proves that unlike Biff
generation GI was a committed generation who got the job done.

The Behavior Of Firms Under Oligopoly Market
This essay will attempt to discuss on some models used to understand the behaviour
of firms under oligopoly market, where problems of uncertainty exists and whether
collusion between these firms will eliminates it. For simplicity, these models will be
explained under the assumption that there are two firms (duopoly), namely firm A
and firm B and both firms produce identical product.
Oligopoly is a type of imperfect competitive market, which consists of few large
firms. These firms control the market and sell similar product, which are usually
differentiated by the brand (e.g. Nike and Adidas). The most important features of
oligopoly is the interdependence between firms, which means that the act of a firm
will inevitably affect the other firm. However, a firm cannot be sure of how exactly
the other firm will respond to their decision, therefore strategic uncertainty may be
used as a tactic in oligopoly.
There are many models discussing on the interaction between firms such as game
theory, an analysis of strategic interaction and also conjectural variation, which will
be the underlying discussion for the first part of the essay. Conjectural variation is an
assumption that a firm expects a reaction from other firms in the market based on
their movement. This act of conjecturing implies the uncertainty in the market.
Conjectural variation is the rate of change of rival s output with respect to own output
(McMillan, 2013).

The Rockaways was once the summer playground for all of Queens. With miles of
sandy beach and the amusement parks, the largest one Rockaway s Playland at
Beach 98th Street, The Rockaways had everything a summer resort should have.
Ever since the amusement parks closed in the 1980 s, the Rockaways have gone
through a lot of ups and downs. The real estate is now on the up side. The beaches
are still crowded during the summer, but the Rockaways became one of the
forgotten places as far as development goes. There were plans to put high rise
buildings on the grounds of the old park, but the sub soil turned out to be to sandy to
support large buildings, so the plan went by the wayside and none of the subsequent
idea ever came to fruition. The neighborhoods... Show more content on

Chelsea and the Garment District are on the West and Stuyvesant Town on the
East. There are mostly pre war buildings, and historic brownstones, with some new
buildings being constructed. Gramarcy is one Manhattan neighborhood that has
one thing you will not find in many parts of Manhattan, and that is a private park,
which only the residents have a key too. By, law it must be opened to the public
once and year or it will loose its private status, but for the rest of the year, it is
locked up tight. Gramarcy Park is just a walk from the clubs and art galleries of
Greenwich Village, and a short trip to the north to the business district if Midtown
Manhattan and the Theater District. Third Avenue is the major shopping area, as it
is for its entire length, from north to south. The most expensive real estate are
converted lofts, which are now penthouses and if you have a view of the park, that
adds up to. In Gramarcy Park, the prices can change depending on the street. The
further away you are from the Midtown Tunnel, the more you are likely to pay.

Define an Agile OrganizationMany business use the agile organizational
methodology. As they require the ability to remain flexible, enduring ever changing
requirements. The agile organization develops more mission critical, high profile
systems. Sharing responsibility within small teams (of 15 or less) is also a main
principle of an agile organization. Never is a hierarchy design operational in the agile
organization, as the group possess the ability to over ride decisions made by
management. The agile type of organization displayed itself over time as an
entrepreneurial type of organization providing the high speed changing rather than
the standardization of a bureaucratic organization (Johnson, Jackson, Burrows, 2011).

Describe The Relationship Between Screwtape And
Wormwood
My dad and I enjoyed the book thoroughly. He thought there was a funny sense of
humor and found the insight into the minds of demons intriguing. I wasn t quite as
amused, but I found how interesting it is to look inside a demon s head. The whole
book was very imaginative and the short chapters allowed us both to stay engaged.
He thought it was interesting to see how susceptible we are to the demon s
strategy, and how they can sneak up on us and catch us on unawares.
Unfortunately for me I can relate that to my life which can get to whole new level
creepy. I personally don t like the idea of a demon sneaking up on me. My dad
found the relationship between Screwtape and Wormwood to be precarious and how
Screwtape seemed to act like Wormwood s
Music Is The Genre Of Music
The modern day person encounters a plethora of genres in their everyday life.
Whether going to the grocery store or watching television, people are surrounded
by the genres of branding, music, twitter posts, Facebook statuses, and so much
more. While it is true that we are impacted by the world of genre around us each
day, it is also true that many people do not know what genre is. Genre is the
expression of people s thoughts, ideas, or emotions, towards a target audience, that
can be separated into categories depending on how one chose to express these
things. There are numerous different types of genre that can be found in the world,
but the most influential to myself is the genre of music. Music is everywhere, it
comes in millions of different forms, and is the one thing nobody can really go a
day without because it is such a common part of modern day life. Everyone has
their own style of music they like to listen to, play, sing, or do whatever to as
music can be applied and found in almost every situation. With such a powerful
influence, music is always changing with the world around us to be connected to
the modern era of life. In 2016, its clear that the music of our generation is not
swing, or classical, or blues music, but rather pop and rap. As rap has taken off,
genre has needed to expand, and thus today there are two types of rap, each with
similar styles but both conveying different messages, idea, and motive, those being
traditional rap and anti rap, or
Viktor Frankl And The Holocaust
Viktor Frankl, renowned psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor, often quoted
Nietzsche saying, He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how . Viktor
Frankl, known for his development of logotherapy, a form of therapy that teaches
individuals to live a life of meaning, put this saying to use when he experienced
unspeakable atrocities during the holocaust. Given his medical and psychological
history, Frankl was able to withstand Nazi concentration camps and not give into the
hopelessness he faced; he instead focused on the meaning of life.
It seems that Frankl arrived in the world at the right time; his purpose was fulfilled
by his circumstance. Frankl made sure to recognize everyone s individual essence,
and it was with the onset ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After receiving the title doctor, Frankl went on to work with behavioral psychologists
Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler, while staging his own theory: logotherapy
behavior is driven by the need to find meaning. But Frankl later broke from his
initial attraction to Freudian theory and began studying psychoanalysis under
Alfred Adler. He came to disagree with Adler s position that people do not have the
freedom of choice and willpower to overcome their problems (Range, 2000). Frankl
writes that, life is not primarily a quest for pleasure, as Freud believed, or a quest for
power, as Alfred Adler believed, but a quest for meaning (Frankl, Meaning ).
However, his practice and theory were not well received by medical professionals of
the time.
For quite some time, German hatred towards the Jews had been brewing. With the
humiliation and shame of their defeat in World War I, their anger increased and they
needed someone to blame for all of their problems. With Hitler s rise to power, they
had an outlet for their hatred. And so began the Holocaust.
With his psychology background, Viktor Frankl was prepared, as one could be, for
the unspeakable horrors that were to come by the hands of Hitler and the Nazis who
began advancing and taking occupation of his city, religion, and culture. With the
unimaginable terror and cruelty Jews experienced, it is a wonder how those

In this part of work I will be evaluating what the costs and benefits of managing
resource are. The resources I will be concentrating on will be the physical, human and
technological.
Physical resources
There are many physical resources in all Sainsbury stores. These are mainly the
equipment and tools that are used when serving and providing for all their
customers. Every worker at Sainsbury s should manage the equipment in every store
by frequently cleaning the store and the equipment and the managers should make
sure that the equipment is fully working and fix any problems with them or call in

Sainsbury s heavily rely on their human resources to keep the business profitable. It is
important for them to manage human resources as employee performance directly
disturbs the performance of the business. Sainsbury s can manage their human
resources through training and regular appraisals. Doing that will improve the
development and effectiveness of the employees which will then improve the
business performance. If it is not managed then some staff may lose their interest in
their job and also lose track of the correct procedures and pick up bad habits. For
example, not providing their customers with any help that they may require. This
would then be wasting the company s money as they would be paying the staff to
damage the stores reputation and push away customers. Difficulties with managing
human resources can be that it s expensive to train workers and staff could lose
confidence and motivation if they think that they are doing their job right but other
people are telling them that they are doing it wrong. If you concentrate on your
customer s way more than your employees then you might be pushing your staff
away by decreasing their productivity which would lead to a negative customer
service and the loss of

constant inflammation of the gallbladder. According to research, the chronic
cholecystitis is one of the most common biliary diseases (Sato et al., 2002). With Lars

bile composition which then increases the chances of having gallstones in the

that the chronic inflammation changes the gallbladder wall because of the different
types of gallstones hitting the epithelial tissues which then makes the gallbladder
extremely sensitive. Some patients even experience pain after eating a meal because

How Did Thurgood Marshall Influence The Civil Rights

In my research of the civil rights movement I think Thurgood Marshall and President
Kennedy is on equal footing with Martin Luther King Jr. in influence the movement.
I call it a three prong approach. Marshall helps strip the segregation law. King shows
the country how it treats its minority citizens. And President Kennedy was ready to
sign into law the civil rights bill.
The civil rights movement was a political movement created by civil resistance with
the goal of change using nonviolent forms of resistance.
According to Adamson
, civil rights refer to the rights of a citizen to political and social freedom and
equality. The birth of the modern civil rights movement was greatly influenced, by
the agitation of the African Americans for equal rights and abolishment of the
segregation laws. The main goal of the civil rights movement was to ensure that
equal rights of the people, would be protected, by law.
This movement redefines the idea of what it meant to be free in America. Faced with
racial discrimination, social prejudice and poor services, the minority groups realized
that they had to fight for their rights. Studies by McWhorter showed that influential
religious and business leaders and early African Americanscholars pioneered the
modern civil rights movement. Some of the most notable individuals who spear
headed the movement included the aforementioned of Marshall, King, Kennedyas
Sacrifice In The Kite Runner
Sacrifice (and issues related to it) have been an inherent part of literature from the
beginning. The intense connection between destruction and creation raises questions
about the human capability for violence and love in equal measure and seemingly
violates the natural human instinct for survival. This has solidified its place as an
object of fascination and scrutiny for generations. Sacrificeis not simply a matter of
giving up one s life or something equal to it for someone else; oftentimes,
psychological motivations behind sacrifice are very complex. However, in works
such as The Kite Runner, The Color Purple, Cyrano de Bergerac, Saving Private

Although he is a sensitive and bookish young boy, instances of a mean streak
appear throughout the book. He often takes advantage of Hassan s love for him
and uses it to pressure him into committing acts such as firing walnuts with his

so far as to tease Hassan into admitting that he would eat dirt if he told him to, and
to confess that he finds teasing him to be something fascinating albeit in a sick
way (54), though he knows it to be cruel. His occasional antagonism towards
Hassan stems in part from his jealousy and his own feelings of inadequacy in
regards to the love of his father. Hassan possesses an innate courage and sense of
justice and natural athletic abilities, all traits that Amir lacks and that Baba
admires. The fact that Amir does not stack up to Hassan in the eyes of their father
becomes clear during a conversation that he overhears between Baba and Rahim
Khan. Not only does his father not understand his inclination to spend his days

his own self and for others and tendency to let Hassan fight his battles for him. He
states unequivocally that A boy who won t stand up for himself becomes a man who
can t stand up to anything (22). This leads to Amir s heightened jealousy of Hassan,
general feeling of inadequacy, and an

Ethical Ethics And Corporate Ethics Essay
Ethics are principles of behavior based on the ideas of what is good and what is
bad. Business ethics, or also known as corporate ethics, is a form of ethics that is
used in the business environment. The study of business ethics looks at the decisions
that businesses make and whether those decisions taken are right or wrong. Many
company executives are unethical, because their number one goal is not to satisfy
customers, or clients; Instead their number one goal is to make as much profit as
they can no matter what. What this type of companies fail to realize is that there is
long run and short run profit maximization. A company can maximize its profits by in
the short run by being unethical; however, in the long run, the bad publicity, lawsuits,
etc. will make the company suffer plenty in both the public appearance and the
monetary aspect. One of the biggest legal scandals of a company being unethical was
in 2001, when, Enron, a natural gas pipeline company went from having $65 billions
in assets to being bankrupt 24 days after. Enron Corporation was founded in 1985, in
Houston, Texas, it was a merger between Houston Natural Gas Co. and InterNorth
Inc. Enron reached dramatic heights, it was the seventh largest corporation in
America, and named the Most innovative company by Fortune magazine for 6 years
straight. Enron innovated the entire natural gas market by adding a natural gas
trading segment; making it the world s largest energy trading company. At its peak
Victim Or Heroine Research Paper
Victim or Heroine? The relationship between opposing genders and species within
literature is interesting. Women are known for being the weaker link, the brutally
murdered, the intentesly stalked. One of the first to die and if they are kept around its
usually because they fit the other half of a romantic relationship with the heroine.
However, while monsters often prey upon women, in modern horror stories
sometimes the women take on the roles of both victim and heroine. In this instense it
is usually because they are apart of a bigger play of events. The turbulent relationship
between women and monsters has been characterized by conflict. However,
understanding what role the femalecharacter is playing can be difficult. Women are
shown to be weaker or even defenseless against their preditor. Usually throughout the
film, the womanlearns to defend herself because she has to. Women are not normally

Have you ever wondered if it s possible to rid yourself of the debilitating thoughts
that plague your mind? Is there a way to completely ignore the harsh statements that
you say in your private thoughts? As a matter of fact, are your thoughts private, or
can others sense what you are thinking?
Psychiatrist, psychologist and other medical professionals; inspirational and
motivational speakers and authors; pastors and teachers alike have proven that you
attract into your life whatever is in alignment with your dominant thoughts and
emotions. Scientists believe that humans have an average of 70,000 thoughts per
day... that s almost 49 thoughts per minute. With this many thoughts racing across
your mind is it possible to control which thought will get your attention the most?
Sure it is!

Potato Indians History
The ancient peruvian city of Machu Picchu is on a mountain 8,000 feet above sea
level and became the home of the potato. Precision crafted stone buildings with
beveled edges, and mortarless seams were crafted for the sole purpose of cultivating
and engineering potatoes. The ancient peruvian indians of the Andes did more not
just potato, but plant experiments than any other people anywhere in the world at
that time. Thousands of years before the incas, they learned to produce extremely
high yields of potatoes with very small amounts of land. The indians cultivated the
potato on their mountain slopes and in their valleys for at approximately the last
4,000 years, and what used to be a population of millions now diminished to a
fraction of what that was now.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

types of potatoes are grown in America today! In fact, the potato affected Ireland so
much that the population expanded from 3.2 million in 1754 to 8.2 million less than
a century later. Now China has become the largest sweet potato producer ever, the

Misunderstood Fractures
Medline Plus defines a traumatic fracture as a trauma sustained by a fall or an auto

Disney s Business Factors The Disney Corporation is a leader in both the family
entertainment and the movie media industries. They are internationally acclaimed for
their amusement parks and resorts, media networks, studio entertainment, and
interactive media (Bahera, 2012, para. 1). Through Walt Disneys vision, drive,
creativity, and passion, Disney has become one of the world s most successful multi
media corporations. Disney established its core values from the beginning, and they
are still lived today. Since Walt Disney s departure in 1966, Disney has had several
leaders, including the current CEO, Bob Iger, who have duplicated Walt s style and

There is no material competition to Disney because of this. The price of entry into
this entertainment market is high, and no corporation is big enough to pay it. The
biggest external threat to Disney currently is the recession. While American parks
are not too negatively affected in a downturn economy, its international parks
struggle financially. Disney s share price has fallen by 14% in the past year.
Expanding its online business and earning more money through traditional media
could offset these losses. It certainly is in a better place to bounce back from the
current economic recession than most other big media firms. Because Disney has a
decentralized approach to its organization, keeps its employees actively involved,
and empowers its managers to show appreciation and recognition of others, Disney s
core is solid and its foundation is strong, and it should continue to reign as one of the
most admired organizations in the world.
For Disney s management to produce a good end product and to maintain that product,
they have to implement control. At this stage in the management process control is
not necessarily micro managing, though it is a form. Control is about guiding
employees. The path of the organization, in this case Disney, has already been set. By
keeping employees on that path, it exemplifies control. It is ironic that Disney
maintains the happiest place on earth mentality, but it is one of the hardest places to
maintain that
Essay On Phencyclidine
Chronic phencyclidine induces inflammatory responses and activates GSK3ОІ in
mice. Use of phencyclidine (PCP) in rodents can mimic some aspects of
schizophrenia. However, the underlying mechanism is still unclear. Growing
evidence indicates that neuroinflammation plays a significant role in the
pathophysiology of schizophrenia. In this study, we focused on inflammatory
responses as target of PCP for inducing schizophrenia like symptoms. 3 month old
C57BL/6J mice received daily injections of PCP (20 mg/kg, i.p.) or saline for one
week. PCP injected mice produced schizophrenia like behaviours including impaired
spatial short term memory assessed by the Y maze task and sensorimotor gating

Therefore, the pathological process underlying schizophrenia may involve
neuroinflammatory responses in the central nervous system (CNS).
Noncompetitive N methyl d aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonists, including
phencyclidine (PCP), evoke schizophrenia like psychosis and cognitive deficits in
healthy humans [10, 11] and similar cognitive deficits and hyperlocomotion related to
positive symptoms in rodents [12, 13, 14, 15]. Studies on the behavioural deficits
induced by PCP have focused on its possible mechanism in disrupting glutamatergic
NMDA neurotransmission leading to neuronal degeneration [16]. One study has
shown that there was an increased expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)
after chronic PCP administration in rats [17]. Therefore, it is important to address the
neuroinflammatory changes in the PCP induced mouse model of schizophrenia.
Glycogen synthase kinase 3ОІ (GSK3ОІ) is a key regulator in various physiological
pathways, including protein synthesis, cell differentiation, apoptosis and cell survival
[18]. It has been demonstrated that GSK3ОІ signaling is impaired in schizophrenia
[19]. Furthermore, GSK3ОІ inhibition attenuates activation of the proinflammatory
transcription factor nuclear factor kappa B (NFОєB), as well as the resulting effects
on NFОєB mediated gene expression, indicating that GSK3ОІ

Input and Output Devices
INPUT AND OUTPUT DEVICES
In computing, input/output, or I/O, refers to the communication between an
information processing system (such as a computer), and the outside world
possibly a human, or another information processing system. Inputs are the signals
or data received by the system, and outputs are the signals or data sent from it. The
term can also be used as part of an action; to perform I/O is to perform an input or
output operation. I/O devices are used by a person (or other system) to communicate
with a computer. For instance, a keyboard or a mouse may be an input device for a
computer, while monitors and printers are considered output devices for a computer.

Relate your answer to the concept of the digital society. A1. Dartmouth College has
made many innovative usages of the Wi Fi technology in their college: * Students are
continuously developing new applications for the Wi Fi. * Students no longer have to
remember campus phone numbers, as their mobile phones have all the numbers and
can be accessed anywhere in the campus. * Students mainly use laptop computers on

Conflict Resolution Essay
A group can only be called a team if the members are actively working together
toward a common goal. A team must have the capability to set goals, make
decisions, solve problems, and share responsibilities. For a team to be successful,
trust must be earned between its members by being consistent and reliable (Temme
Katzel, 2005). When more than one person is working on a particular task,
inconsistent views or opinions commonly arise. People come from different
backgrounds and live through different life experiences therefore, even when
working towards a common goal, they will not always see eye to eye. Major conflict
that is not dealt with can devastate a team or organization (Make Conflict Work,
2008). In some situations, conflict can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of conflict under this view brings to mind chaos, heated emotion, and high
stress. The traditional mindset requires taking all necessary steps to prevent and
remove the source of the conflict that may be detrimental to the team. The human
relations view understands that conflict is inevitable and part of the natural process
of interactions. The human relations view is a more neutral outlook, which allows
conflict and is tolerant of its presents. One that comes from this perspective expects
conflict in a team setting and is more likely to resolve the issue when it arises rather
than trying to eliminate the source. The interactionist view considers conflict to be
energizing and helpful in keeping constructive discussion going. The interactionist
view is a positive view that encourages opinions and expression of all members of
an association. Conflict is considered a positive influence towards change. Causes for
Conflict Barbara Bowes discusses three major causes for conflict: different interests
/goals, conflicting values, and interpersonal styles (2008). Even though a team has the
same ultimate goal, the intermediate steps to reach this goal may be unparallel.
Imagine if Ray Kroc, fast food restaurateur, and a gourmet chef teamed up to open a
restaurant. What conflicts might transpire? The team may have the same definitive
goal in mind, but the two would more than likely be dealing with the issue of quality
versus convenience. The second
Ethnocentrism Essay
In a world with many different cultures, ethnocentrism is a constant threat to society.
When horrendous acts of racism, sexism , and disability discrimination are constantly
the headlines of multiple news outlets. It is clear that the perils of ethnocentrism are
now considered common things to happen. One example of have ethnocentrism was
presented in the past would be in 1904 the Bronx Zoohad an exhibition containing a
person from the Congo of Africa. The Aboriginals in Australia are also another good
example of how ethnocentrism has developed. Lastly in early creation tales there is a
common theme of that men are superior to women. Although ethnocentrism has been
developing over centuries some immediate dangers include a variety of discrimination
, and in result can cause an assortment of violence.
In 1904 The New York Times illustrates what a normal day is like for an african
man trapped in his own exhibit, and how the public reacted to it. Since of the time
period the public was fascinated about the exhibit. The New York Times describes a
normal day: Several thousand persons took the Subway, the elevated, and surface
cars to the New York Zoological Park, in the Bronxyesterday, and there watched Ota
Benga, the Bushman, who had been put by management on exhibition there in
monkey cages ( New York Times). Everyone who saw the exhibit they did not see
this man as an equal, if they did he would have not been put in a cage. Ethnocentrism

A Beautiful Mind And The Soloist Analysis
Both A Beautiful Mind, directed by Ron Howard, and The Soloist, directed by Joe
Wright, are films that attempt to explore the obstacles people with schizophrenia face
in a society where mental illness is often met with negative stigma. From finding
sufficient treatment to maintaining an independent lifestyle, individuals with
schizophrenia are put under a great deal of pressure to meet social norms despite the
sometimes debilitating and emotionally draining effects of their disease. A Beautiful
Mind and The Soloist highlight these struggles, and because they are both based on
true stories, they are able to depict the realities of what living with a mental illness is
like in a relatively realistic manner. A Beautiful Mind follows
George Orwell s A Hanging
George Orwell s A Hanging , set in Burma in the late 1920 s, tells his experience as a
police officer witnessing a specific execution. Throughout his career in the police
force, Orwell was an ardent retentionist, someone who supports capital punishment
for certain crimes. However, this execution revealed to him the brutality of capital
punishment, causing him to shift to abolitionism, the thought that capital punishment
should be abolished. After quitting his job as a police officer, he wrote this story to
show the heinous reality of what capital punishment truly is. Through the dialogue
and mannerisms of the characters in this story, Orwell conveys his abolitionist
message through the prisoner, the superintendent, the guards, and the dog.... Show

First, he assumes that all criminals have a certain stereotype and appearance when
he describes the prisoner as appearing comical. Also, when the prisoner s appeal is
dismissed, he assumes that the dismissal of the appeal is a biased misjudgment.
The appeal could have been denied because the prisoner actually is guilty of a
heinous crime. One of the weaknesses in the story is that Orwell says that he
recognized the evil in ending a human life when he observed the prisoner stepping
around the puddle. However, avoiding a puddle does not make someone innocent, it
simply means they do not want dirty feet. The most severe flaw in this story is that
Orwell never tells what crime the prisoner is charged with. Perhaps he leaves it out
because if his readers know what the crime is, they will not sympathize with the
prisoner in the way that he wants them
Save Ended Up After Your Life
Have you ever had something happen in your life where you saw signs of it
coming, but did anything you could to help fix things? Then in the end it ended
up what you were trying to fix was not something that could be done on your
behalf? No matter how hard you tried, you could not seem to hold that which you
were working so hard to hold on to, what you were trying to save ended up
dissolving quickly right before your eyes. After what you had fought for with
every ounce of strength you had, every hope you had, and every fiber of your
being desiring to not give up seems to have just shattered right before your eyes, it
is near impossible to bounce back quickly from that. For me, I have recently found
just how accurate the following saying is.... You never know what you have until
you do not have it anymore. When you lose something or someone you have tried
to fight for through thick or thin, it is almost as though you want to give up
completely and not have hope things may end up being rebuilt down the road. At
least for me, I worked so hard and gave my all in order to help save something very
dear to me and in the end it felt as though it were not worth it. What I realized
though is that what I had fought for so long ended up being something I could not
keep. As much as it hurts and pains me to not have what I fought for, so much so
that I want to curl up in a ball and hide from the world at times, I also know that the
hurt is in a great deal related to the fact that who I
Mary As A Disciple ( Mariology )
Mary as a Disciple (Mariology)
Mary was the mother to Jesus Christ, the Messiah, and has been a focus of
theological discussion since about the second century. Mary comes from a long line
of women in the bible. Prototypes, if you will. These women throughout the Old
Testament were chosen by God. This gave way to Marybecoming the God bearer. A
title that was given to her by the Council of Ephesus in 431 C.E. This is obviously
where all theological debate dealing with Mariology comes from. To Catholics,
Mary is a sign of hope in this fading world. To protestant Christians, Mary is also
known as the mother of God. However, many protestant theologians believe that
Mary should be honored but within certain limits. The Old Testament in the Holy
Bible specifically says in Exodus 34:14, Do not worship any other god, for the
LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God . In the New Testament it says in 1
John 5:21, Little children, keep yourselves from idols . Martin Luther (a German
professor of Theology, and founder of the Lutheran Church) was quick to say that
Mary should be honored but to only what is fitting. Karl Barth (a reformed protestant
theologian) explained that through Mary, Jesus was human, and through Jesus, she is
the divine mother of God, and is full of grace that was still given to her by God the
Father. Avery Dulles talks of models that churches should strive to uphold, and Mary
(mother of God) resembles the church of Servant, Community,

Nurse who knew him very well. The Nurse agreed with me that FH was in a
downward spiral of no return and it was imperative that he take his medication or he
will need hospitalisation again. The plan was that if FH did not take medication by
the following morning that the assessment team from the hospital would visit and try
to speak with him.
I shared this information with the night staff, left contact numbers and names and the
Nurse was called the following morning.
From that day, FH has not refused his medication. I feel that he would often like to
but instead mutters to himself that he does not want to go back to that hospital. I
console him but smiling and telling him that he is doing very well and the tablets
keep him well and out of the hospital.
During the time of FH s refusal, this was accurately recorded on the
Richard Ramirez As A Serial Killer
We serial killers are your sons, we are your husbands, we are everywhere. And there
will be more of your children dead tomorrow. This quote was said by Ted Bundy, and
it explains how anybody can turn out to be a serial killer. A serial killer s childhood
environment plays a major role in why they became a serial killer. Nurture often plays
a bigger role in somebody becoming a serial killer, rather than their nature. This
statement can be proven by looking at Richard Ramirez s life, and how it shaped
him into becoming a serial killer. Richard Ramirez snuck into people s homes in
California at night and killed them. There are many factors that lead Richard Ramirez
to become a serial killer, the main factors include his cousin, parents,... Show more

Mike, his cousin, was a Vietnam war veteran and he told Richard a lot of gory
stories for the war. Mike Ramirez told Richard about how he had raped and
mutilated many Vietnamese women and showed Richard polaroid pictures of his
victims. Mike would also give Richard marijuana at a young age and would help
Richard skip school. Mike also taught Richard how to fire a gun and Richard even
watched Mike kill his own wife. One day Mike s wife, Jessie, was complaining to
Mike about how he needed to get a job, and he shot her in the face. Richard
Ramirez just stood and watched while Jessie was killed. All of these things Mike
did had a huge psychological impact on Richard Ramirez. Mike taught Richard that
it was alright to hurt and kill people. Richard was not born with the sense that
killing people was socially acceptable. He learned this by watching Mike kill his
wife and listening to Mike s stories about hurting women. This further shows that
Richard Ramirez s nurture drove him to become a serial killer. Furthermore,
growing up poor also contributed to Richard Ramirez becoming a serial killer.
Richard was surrounded by drugs because of where he lived in Texas. Richard
starting smoking marijuana as a 10 year old and he started doing LSD as a teenager.
Richard was sent to live with his older sister, Ruth, and her husband. Roberto, Ruth s
husband, would take Richard to watch women through their windows at night. This
experience is what probably led to Richard Ramirez

Marketing and Ice Cream
Q1. How structurally attractive is the Russian ice cream market? Discuss how its
industry structure can be made more attractive? (663 words)
The political and financial instability had greatly impacted Russian ice cream
industry. The financial crisis in 1998 and the devaluation of the ruble had greatly
reduced Russian market s consumption ability. It also increased the production cost
of Russian ice cream producers who relied on external market for raw materials. The
shrinkage of frozen import market heavily impacted by the financial crisis forced the
wholesales entered the ice cream market, which intensified the competition in the
market. Russian government s value added tax further decreased the profit of ice
cream producers. Beside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would further squeeze the profit margin of producers. Therefore a lower cost
would guarantee better profit margin. Since consumption in this segment had a strong
seasonality, the ability to recoup the cost of extra producing capacity would be
necessary to reduce the cost.
Family consumption segment was relative small, but it was the most promising.
Compared with impulsive consumption segment, it had less seasonality since ice
cream was eaten in the warm houses in winter, which reduced the demand to
producing capacity. Shelf space in the super market was crucial to succeed in this
segment. To get this valuable resource, two measures should be adopted. Firstly,
building a close relationship with supermarket was a necessity. This cooperation
would guarantee the shelf space. A strong brandwith strong customer preference
would pull the demand and increase the bargaining power with supermarket.
Secondly, a special package and longer quality guarantee period was necessary as
well. If the products could be kept long, supermarket would have to discount the
product as the deadline approaching.
CafГ© and restaurant consumption segment was the most lucrative and most
demanding segment. Alignment between the products and lifestyle was the basis in
this segment. A high quality product without a prestige brand could not survive in
this segment. Therefore heavy investment on adverting and
Comparing Emerson And Thoreau
During the nineteenth century, the new philosophical trend of transcendentalism
occurred. Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, two contemporary
authors, expressed transcendentalist ideas through their writing. Their perspectives
of nature and society were both very similar. They believe people need to simplify
their lives, and spend time in nature. To them, nature is the key to peace and
tranquillity that people knowingly and unknowingly seek. Herman Melville,
another contemporary author of that time, has a very different view of nature.
Through Moby Dick, he expresses his ideas that nature is essentially evil. He
thinks that it is dangerous, and in order to protect yourself you need to go on the
offense against it. Thoreau and Emerson urge people to live a peaceful, simplistic
life and they think that spending time in nature, which is essentially good, is the
key to doing so, while Melville thinks that nature is a destructive force that people
should either avoid or fight. Emerson is one of the first people to introduce the idea
of nature being the key to peace. He insists that the natural world is beautiful, and
people should spend their time in it. In his essay Nature, Emerson says Nature never
wears a mean appearance/Nature never becomes a toy to a wise spirit (Emerson 1)....

By living in the wilderness, he finds true peace and harmony. Like Emerson, he
thinks that nature is beautiful, gentle, and everybody should spend time in it.
Society corrupts you and distracts you from the wonders that the natural world has
to offer. Thoreau used nature to intertwine with his spirituality, such as in Walden
when he says I got up early and bathed in the pond; that was a religious exercise, and
one of the best things which I did (Thoreau 6). This was a way for him to become
closer to the universe through nature. He thought that by doing this each morning he
was given new strength for the
Noodles And Company Problem Analysis
Introduction
Noodles and Company, a fast casual dining restaurant, whose founder is Aaron
Kennedy. Aaron thought of the idea in 1993 while eating at an Asian noodle diner
in NYC. He opened his first restaurant in Boulder, Colorado. It was opened on
October third, 1995. Noodles and Company was not his start though, he has also
worked for Oscar Meyer, Pepsi, and Cato Gobe.
Other persons that played significant roles include President and Co CEO, Ken
Keyme; Chief Financial Officer/EVP, Mary Beth Lewis; COO, Joe Serafin;
Executive Chef, Ross Kamens; and Chief Development Officer/EVP, Thomas
Weigand. Many of these people helped in the development of Noodles and Company,
and helped the company begin to grow in the late 1990 s.
Problem Analysis
First off, the competition faced by Noodles and Company is quite brutal. This
competition includes but is not limited to, Chipotle and Cheese Cake Factory.
Chipotle offers consumers good quality Mexican food, for an affordable price. This
draws away consumers who would be normally eating at an Noodles and Company.
Cheese Cake Factory hurts Noodles and Company even more so, because they offer
larger variety in their menu. Cheese Cake Factory s menu spans from a variety of
different cultures. Cheese Cake Factory also has a specialty item, cheese cake. This
item pulls the attention of consumers.
Secondly, you shouldn t open thirty two new operations in the next year, solely
because you have the capital to do so. With competition as it is,

  • 1. High School Reflective Essay Examples Crafting an essay on the subject of "High School Reflective Essay Examples" can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies not only in the technical aspects of essay writing but also in the introspective nature of reflective essays. This genre demands a deep exploration of personal experiences, emotions, and growth during high school, making it a unique and sometimes complex task. To begin with, one must navigate the delicate balance between self-disclosure and maintaining a level of objectivity. Sharing personal reflections requires a thoughtful approach to avoid oversharing or veering into overly sentimental territory. It involves a skillful blend of storytelling and analysis, weaving together anecdotes and insights that contribute to a coherent narrative. Furthermore, the challenge extends to selecting appropriate examples that resonate with the intended message. It's not just about recounting events but also about delving into their significance, the lessons learned, and the impact on personal development. This demands a level of self-awareness and critical thinking that can be demanding, particularly for high school students who may still be navigating their own understanding of themselves and their experiences. Moreover, the process requires a certain level of vulnerability. Comparing observed meteorological data from two different types of automatic weather stations Petro Burger 11048990 HONOURS REASEARCH PROJECT WKD 763 2016 DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY, GEOINFORMATICS AND METEOROLOGY UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA ABSTRACT Observed meteorological data collected by two different types of automatic weather stations (AWS) were statistically analysed in order to verify if there were a difference in the measurements due to the different sensor types. The hypothesis is that the different types of AWS s will not be statistically different. Data from January 2014 to February 2016 for six places in South Africa were analysed. Significant differences were observed for rainfall totals, temperatures and wind speeds by using the Wilcoxon Mann Whitney test. 1.Introduction The objective of this study was to compare observed rainfall amounts, maximum air temperature, minimum air temperature and maximum wind speeds at daily periods from two different types of automatic weather stations. An automatic weather station (AWS) is defined by the WMO (1992a) as a meteorological station where observations are made and from which the data is transmitted automatically. The AWS was designed to accurately measure and record standard meteorological variables. The design of AWS s may vary from measurement rates, methods on how the data is retrieved or the intervals of when the data is reported (Tanner, 1990). All functional AWS s must consist of certain specific features. These

He also cannot erase what he has done to cope with this, most of his scars from self harming can even be permanent , and the guilt, or reminder of doing so, will always be there then, marked upon his skin. These are four different aspects of the human condition that people, as well as myself personally, see as the things that make us human. The intended audience for my task is possibly more educated people who understand the significance of these things as well as other people wanting to learn about the roles things play on our social perception of humanity. By not not been understood I mean that Neurologists may be able to show you the areas activated in the brain by sadness and a psychologist may be able to discuss what things make as sad and why it does specific to certain kinds of people but none of these of these people can explain why it is that we cry. Some evolutionary scientists and social psychologist may try to dumb it down to something as simple as expressing emotion socially but I believe that it is a much more complicated and mysterious

In 1964, Yoko Ono challenged both societal convention and the artist/audience relationship in her exhibit Cut Piece, and decades later Kara Walkers Sugar Subtlety, 2014, challenged preconceived notions of racial symbolism and societal convention on a historical level. For both creators, the idea of The Gaze is explored and even featured, a term that addresses the controlling power a dominant group holds through visualization and often through sexuality. However, the ways in which this term is explored are different between the two women. While Ono s work highlights and even proves the Western male domination involved in the idea of The Gaze , fifty years later and a difference in culture sees Kara Walker s work create an artistic and intellectual revolution against the very power the Gaze tries to maintain, turning the concept on its head. As the surge of Second Wave Feminism swept across the Western world of the 1960s, Japanese artist and activist Yoko Ono created a work of performance art, entitled Cut Piece,

The Internet increases community access enabling users to communicate with forty percent of the world, over three billion people (Internet). • 8. The Behavior Of Firms Under Oligopoly Market This essay will attempt to discuss on some models used to understand the behaviour of firms under oligopoly market, where problems of uncertainty exists and whether collusion between these firms will eliminates it. For simplicity, these models will be explained under the assumption that there are two firms (duopoly), namely firm A and firm B and both firms produce identical product. Oligopoly is a type of imperfect competitive market, which consists of few large firms. These firms control the market and sell similar product, which are usually differentiated by the brand (e.g. Nike and Adidas). The most important features of oligopoly is the interdependence between firms, which means that the act of a firm will inevitably affect the other firm. However, a firm cannot be sure of how exactly the other firm will respond to their decision, therefore strategic uncertainty may be used as a tactic in oligopoly. There are many models discussing on the interaction between firms such as game theory, an analysis of strategic interaction and also conjectural variation, which will be the underlying discussion for the first part of the essay. Conjectural variation is an assumption that a firm expects a reaction from other firms in the market based on their movement. This act of conjecturing implies the uncertainty in the market. Conjectural variation is the rate of change of rival s output with respect to own output (McMillan, 2013). Equation 1.1: e.g. dp/dqA= ∂p/∂qA+∂p/∂qB

He came to disagree with Adler s position that people do not have the freedom of choice and willpower to overcome their problems (Range, 2000). I call it a three prong approach. Marshall helps strip the segregation law. King shows the country how it treats its minority citizens. And President Kennedy was ready to sign into law the civil rights bill. The civil rights movement was a political movement created by civil resistance with the goal of change using nonviolent forms of resistance. According to Adamson , civil rights refer to the rights of a citizen to political and social freedom and equality. The birth of the modern civil rights movement was greatly influenced, by the agitation of the African Americans for equal rights and abolishment of the segregation laws. The main goal of the civil rights movement was to ensure that equal rights of the people, would be protected, by law. This movement redefines the idea of what it meant to be free in America. Faced with racial discrimination, social prejudice and poor services, the minority groups realized that they had to fight for their rights. Studies by McWhorter showed that influential religious and business leaders and early African Americanscholars pioneered the modern civil rights movement. Some of the most notable individuals who spear headed the movement included the aforementioned of Marshall, King, Kennedyas

Business ethics, or also known as corporate ethics, is a form of ethics that is used in the business environment. The study of business ethics looks at the decisions that businesses make and whether those decisions taken are right or wrong. Many company executives are unethical, because their number one goal is not to satisfy customers, or clients; Instead their number one goal is to make as much profit as they can no matter what. What this type of companies fail to realize is that there is long run and short run profit maximization. A company can maximize its profits by in the short run by being unethical; however, in the long run, the bad publicity, lawsuits, etc. will make the company suffer plenty in both the public appearance and the monetary aspect. They are internationally acclaimed for their amusement parks and resorts, media networks, studio entertainment, and interactive media (Bahera, 2012, para. 1). Through Walt Disneys vision, drive, creativity, and passion, Disney has become one of the world s most successful multi media corporations. There is no material competition to Disney because of this. The price of entry into this entertainment market is high, and no corporation is big enough to pay it. The biggest external threat to Disney currently is the recession. While American parks are not too negatively affected in a downturn economy, its international parks struggle financially. Disney s share price has fallen by 14% in the past year. Expanding its online business and earning more money through traditional media could offset these losses. It certainly is in a better place to bounce back from the current economic recession than most other big media firms. Because Disney has a decentralized approach to its organization, keeps its employees actively involved, and empowers its managers to show appreciation and recognition of others, Disney s core is solid and its foundation is strong, and it should continue to reign as one of the most admired organizations in the world. For Disney s management to produce a good end product and to maintain that product, they have to implement control. At this stage in the management process control is not necessarily micro managing, though it is a form. Control is about guiding employees. The path of the organization, in this case Disney, has already been set. By keeping employees on that path, it exemplifies control. It is ironic that Disney maintains the happiest place on earth mentality, but it is one of the hardest places to maintain that

However, the underlying mechanism is still unclear. Growing evidence indicates that neuroinflammation plays a significant role in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. In this study, we focused on inflammatory responses as target of PCP for inducing schizophrenia like symptoms. 3 month old C57BL/6J mice received daily injections of PCP (20 mg/kg, i.p.) or saline for one week. PCP injected mice produced schizophrenia like behaviours including impaired spatial short term memory assessed by the Y maze task and sensorimotor gating deficits in a prepulse inhibition task. Noncompetitive N methyl d aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonists, including phencyclidine (PCP), evoke schizophrenia like psychosis and cognitive deficits in healthy humans [10, 11] and similar cognitive deficits and hyperlocomotion related to positive symptoms in rodents [12, 13, 14, 15]. Studies on the behavioural deficits induced by PCP have focused on its possible mechanism in disrupting glutamatergic NMDA neurotransmission leading to neuronal degeneration [16]. One study has shown that there was an increased expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) after chronic PCP administration in rats [17]. Therefore, it is important to address the neuroinflammatory changes in the PCP induced mouse model of schizophrenia. Glycogen synthase kinase 3ОІ (GSK3ОІ) is a key regulator in various physiological pathways, including protein synthesis, cell differentiation, apoptosis and cell survival [18]. It has been demonstrated that GSK3ОІ signaling is impaired in schizophrenia [19]. Furthermore, GSK3ОІ inhibition attenuates activation of the proinflammatory transcription factor nuclear factor kappa B (NFОєB), as well as the resulting effects on NFОєB mediated gene expression, indicating that GSK3ОІ

One of the weaknesses in the story is that Orwell says that he recognized the evil in ending a human life when he observed the prisoner stepping around the puddle. A title that was given to her by the Council of Ephesus in 431 C.E. This is obviously where all theological debate dealing with Mariology comes from. To Catholics, Mary is a sign of hope in this fading world. To protestant Christians, Mary is also known as the mother of God. However, many protestant theologians believe that Mary should be honored but within certain limits. The Old Testament in the Holy Bible specifically says in Exodus 34:14, Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God . In the New Testament it says in 1 John 5:21, Little children, keep yourselves from idols . Martin Luther (a German professor of Theology, and founder of the Lutheran Church) was quick to say that Mary should be honored but to only what is fitting. Karl Barth (a reformed protestant theologian) explained that through Mary, Jesus was human, and through Jesus, she is the divine mother of God, and is full of grace that was still given to her by God the Father. Compared with impulsive consumption segment, it had less seasonality since ice cream was eaten in the warm houses in winter, which reduced the demand to producing capacity. Shelf space in the super market was crucial to succeed in this segment. To get this valuable resource, two measures should be adopted. • 46. Comparing Emerson And Thoreau During the nineteenth century, the new philosophical trend of transcendentalism occurred. Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, two contemporary authors, expressed transcendentalist ideas through their writing. Their perspectives of nature and society were both very similar. They believe people need to simplify their lives, and spend time in nature. To them, nature is the key to peace and tranquillity that people knowingly and unknowingly seek. Herman Melville, another contemporary author of that time, has a very different view of nature. Through Moby Dick, he expresses his ideas that nature is essentially evil. Many of these people helped in the development of Noodles and Company, and helped the company begin to grow in the late 1990 s. Problem Analysis First off, the competition faced by Noodles and Company is quite brutal. This competition includes but is not limited to, Chipotle and Cheese Cake Factory. Chipotle offers consumers good quality Mexican food, for an affordable price. This draws away consumers who would be normally eating at an Noodles and Company.
