Othello Analysis Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Othello Analysis" can be a challenging endeavor. The
complexity arises from the depth and intricacies of Shakespeare's play, "Othello," which requires
a thorough understanding of its characters, themes, and literary devices. Analyzing the
psychological nuances of characters like Othello, Iago, and Desdemona demands a keen insight
into the motivations that drive their actions.
Moreover, delving into the cultural and historical context of the play adds another layer of
complexity. The societal norms and prejudices of the time shape the characters' behaviors and
decisions, making it essential to explore the broader implications of the narrative.
The linguistic richness of Shakespearean verse presents yet another obstacle. Unraveling the
metaphorical and symbolic language used in "Othello" requires a careful examination of each
line, often necessitating a comprehensive grasp of Elizabethan English.
To successfully navigate these challenges, one must dedicate ample time to research, textual
analysis, and critical interpretation. It's not merely summarizing the plot but unraveling the layers
of meaning embedded in the play.
Additionally, constructing a coherent and persuasive argument requires a well-structured essay
with a clear thesis, supported by evidence from the text. Balancing analysis and interpretation,
while maintaining clarity and conciseness, is a formidable task that demands careful planning and
revision.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Othello Analysis" is a formidable undertaking, demanding a
combination of literary insight, historical awareness, and analytical prowess. The process
involves navigating the complexities of Shakespearean language, understanding the characters'
psyches, and unraveling the broader societal context. However, with dedication and a systematic
approach, one can produce a compelling analysis that sheds light on the profound themes
explored in "Othello."

Biography of Wyatt Earp Essay
Biography of Wyatt Earp
Wyatt Earp, born Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, was born on March 19, 1848 in
Manmouth, Illinois to Nicholas and Virginia Earp. When Wyatt was two, his
parents moved him across the Mississippi River to Pella, Iowa. He was considered
a great western lawman. His first experience as a lawman was as a constable of
Lamar, Missouri for four months in the year 1870. In April, 1875, he was
appointed to the Wichita Kansas police force only to be released from that job on
April 2, 1876 for insubordination. After that, Wyatt moved to Dodge City, Kansas
where he served as a police man three separate times. The first time he served from
May 17 until September 9, 1876; the second time he served was from July 6 until ...

A very historical event occurred soon after Wyatt took the detective job with
Wells, Fargo Company; the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. This event is very
controversial even today. According to the name of the event, the shutout occurred
in the back entrance of the O.K. Corral. Yet, according to the research that I have
done, the shootout actually occurred about half a block over from the O.K. Corral
in the side yard of ex mayor William A. Harwood and from there it spread out into
the middle of Fremont
Street. Of course, the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral sounds much better than the
Gunfight in Harwood s Yard and Fremont Street so I guess someone decided to
change it. O.K. Corral has much more of a Western ring to it. Personally, I think the
Gunfight in Tombstone sounds pretty good, but there s no point trying to change it
now.
Virgil, Wyatt s older brother, was Tombstone s city marshal at the time of the
shootout.
He was also a deputy U.S. marshal. At the time of the gunfight, Wyatt considered
himself a saloonkeeper, since he had a piece of the gambling winnings at the Oriental
Saloon. This event included four of the Old West s best known law enforcers and
also some of the Old West s best known villains . The three Earp brothers; Virgil,
Wyatt and
Morgan all participated in the gunfight with Doc Holliday at their side. John Doc
Holliday was a good friend of Wyatt s plus he had a
Essay about Media Influence Upon Modern Society
The Mass Media is a unique feature of modern society; its development has
accompanied an increase in the magnitude and complexity of societal actions and
engagements, rapid social change, technological innovation, rising personal income
and standard of living and the decline of some traditional forms of control and
authority.
There is an association between the development of mass media and social change,
although the degree and direction of this association is still debated upon even after
years of study into media influence. Many of the consequences, either detrimental or
beneficial, which have been attributed to the mass media, are almost undoubtedly due
to other tendencies within society. Few sociologists would refute the ... Show more

This is regarded as one of the first in the area of or notion that the mass media has an
affect on the societal attitudes and beliefs of that time.
This was soon follow around about a decade later in 1941 by Katz, Berelson, and
Lazarsfeld who also decided to research into the topic of media effects, a research
which produced the now commonly known Minimum Effects Model . The main
aspect of this research being to investigate any possible link or factor that may
influence voting behaviour. As has been described in numerous literature it s
discovery was that the mass media played little or no part in the process of the
formation of any political opinion, attitude or preference.
They came to the conclusion that the biggest factor influencing people was not the
media, but other people. By the 1960 s, there was a revival of Marxist attitudes,
and so the work of Katz, Lazarsfeld, and Berelson was largely dismissed in favour
of re examining the model of research into media effects, due to the modifications the
mass media had undergone in the post 1941 period, to consider another way in which
to investigate the influence and the effects of the media.
Influence, society and individuals
As Jane Root wrote in the book Open The Box , which delves into the possibilities
of media influence, It has a role in defining what we think of as
Essay on College Costs
College Costs
Introduction
It s no secret that financing a college education is getting tougher. College costs
have skyrocketed over the past decade or so, and there s no relief in sight. Average
tuition at four year colleges will increase 7 percent this school year, double the rate of
inflation. Student aid is not increasing fast enough to plug the growing gap between
tuition and family finances. In addition, there is a growing number of older students
entering college today. These students have families that they need to support. I
know, because I am a family man who has returned to school. I wish to finish my
degree at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The only problems I face are
financial in nature. It is with this in mind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These costs are partially or fully covered by an employer. In the event they are not let
us include them in the poverty scenario, which basically means the family must pay
the costs.
The total amount of funds needed are $17700 the first year. If you increase that
number by 4.8% each year thereafter you can come up with the projected amount
for each school year. The $17700 figure remains the obstacle to overcome. This cost
has to be covered by Financial Aid. If this cost cannot be covered by the available
system, the student will not be able to pursue a standard four year degree at RIT.
Family s Will Strain
It s going to be tougher to pay for college in 1996, and that s going to widen the gap
in enrollment between rich and poor students that the nation has struggled three
decades to close. Average tuition at four year colleges will increase 6 percent this
school year, double the rate of inflation.
But family income isn t keeping pace; after adjusting for inflation, the average family
has gained hardly any ground in the 1990s, says the Department of Labor. As a result,
says the Department of Education, sending a student to a private college in 1996
without any grants or loans will require more than a third of a typical family s
income and nearly two thirds of the income of a working poor family.
The Government
Student aid is not increasing fast enough to plug the growing gap between tuition and
family finances. The federal government supplies 75
The Garden Lodge by Willa Cather
Cather s The Garden Lodge is about a woman named Caroline Noble whose
husband, Howard, asked her if she would like to demolish their old garden lodge
and replace it with a summer house. The conflict in the story is Caroline is not sure
if she wants to knock down the old garden lodge because it brings back memories of
when opera singer Raymond d Esquerre, spent a month at their place. The resolution
is that Caroline decides to go on with building the summer house and demolishing the
garden lodge. The author uses flashback to explain how Caroline grew up and also
when she reminiscences about her time with Raymond. The characters in The Garden
Noble are both flat and round characters, who help characterize Caroline throughout
the story,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cather made the social environment more important than anything else that
involves the setting. The author uses the highly used point of view third person
limited omniscient, getting into the main characters, Caroline s, thoughts and
touching on her feelings: She had an angry feeling that she had done it rather in
self defiance... (3). This point of view helps to get an idea of what Caroline thinks
about everything around her especially the lodge. Cather puts one important
symbol in the story that explains everything. The garden lodge is a literary symbol
that stands for Caroline s past and what she has gained from ridding of that point
of time. D Esquerre coming to live with them in the lodge and bringing back her
enjoyment of music made her feel like she was like her father, holding on to
something that will not move her further in life. She would go into the lodge ...for
a quiet time every day during the two weeks since d Esquerre had left them (3) and
felt ashamed of doing so. She felt, finally, in the end that it was best to get rid of
the lodge. It was like a piece of her past that was yet to be removed and that, in her
mind, her love of music would lead her back to poverty. She did not want to think
about that, so she removed they one thing that kept her with that mind set. The
theme of the story is poverty clouds a person mind of the appreciation of something
special. Cather s style persist of a good use of

The Entertainment and Media Culture
There are many different forms of entertainment media that has made an impact on
the American culture. However, the one I feel that has made the biggest impact on
American culture is the music industry.
I say that because, if you look at the music from the 50 s and the 60 s, the music
was smooth, it spoke to the teens and the adults in a certain way, the kids danced in
a calm manner, they danced in a respectful manner. In the 70 s and 80 s, the music
took on a distinctive style, therefore, the dances and the clothing took on a different
style. The clothing began to show body parts, the stomach was the main part that
showed. In the 50 s and 60 s you just did not do that. You kept your body covered.
When the music changed, the kids changed.
In the 80 s and 90 s, it took on more of a drastic change. Rap came on the scene, as
well as, the disco era. When this era came about, the kids changed even more. Their
clothing, haircuts, and even their language changed. It got to be such a drastic
change where men were wearing makeup and as much jewelry as the women were.
Then came the Gangsta Rap, which brought about the gang scene. Everybody was
wearing their clothes extra big and baggy. The wearing of a certain color meant you
represented a certain gang and the wearing of your cap meant something else,
however, it all represented gang signs.

The Blessed Lodovica Albertoni ( Fig )
The definition of artworks and the labelling of them as objects of a distinguished
style of their time can be helpful to maintain an organised view of the history of art.
However, defining a piece, or an artist, as belonging uniquely to a certain style
reduce the possibilities of a different reading of them. To illustrate this point, I will
comment the Blessed Lodovica Albertoni (fig.1), a sculpture of the 17th Century by
Gian Lorenzo Bernini, focusing on the approach of Rudolf Wittkower (1901 71) in
his book Gian Lorenzo Bernini: the sculptor of the Roman baroque. Although the
addition of the subtitle clearly defines the sculpture as part of the Italian baroque, it is
interesting how at the same time Wittkower includes a view on Bernini s... Show

As he comments the importance of the diagonal in his previous works, this
sculpture is described as angular in contrast with the modelling of the figure. The
spirituality of the Blessed is emphasised by the violent movement of the fold of the
mantles. Wittkower adds to the picture an inclination towards the classical linearity,
as Bernini s work did from the 1660s. He compares it with other artists from the
same period, who tended to serene their designs towards the end of their lives.
However, he emphasises on his interpretation of the sculpture as it portraits the
emotional and dramatic effect that is considered typical of the baroque .
Accompanying the short mention of the sculpture, Wittkower includes a comment in
the catalogue of images. First, the catalogue gives context to the figure and relates
it to others of Bernini s works at the time. Supposedly commissioned by Cardinal
Paluzzo degli Albertoni, sketches proves the beginning of the work in 1671 . Bernini
sculpted the figure by himself. His other commissions made him finish the sculpture
in 1674. Although it is surprising the artist did not receive remuneration for the
piece, it is known he worked for free for the Altieri family in order to avoid publicity
on behalf of his brother s past criminal offence . Secondly, Wittkower comments the
relationship of the sculpture and the painting, Gaulli s Virgin and Child
The Difference Between Phonetics And Phonology
Language is a human attribute. People are able to exchange knowledge, information,
opinions, beliefs, wishes, and promises through language. It has been defined as a
system of communication based upon words and combination of words into
sentences. The systemic study of human language is defined as linguistics. It is
concerned with the nature of language and communication. It includes diverse
disciplines, for examples, phonetics, phonology, syntax, and semantics. The research
will focus on the phonetics and phonology and how they study the sound system of
the language but in a different way. In addition, we will discuss the definition of
phonology and phonemeand the difference between phoneme and allophone besides

phonetics is the study of human sounds, describing and recording the sound
language. The study of phonetics is not only to indicate the difference between the
written and spoken language but it is about describing the sounds that are made
when we articulate a word. On the other hand, phonology is the description of the
system and patterns of speech sound; based on a theory of what every speaker of a
language unconsciously knows about the sound patterns of that language. In addition,
Phonology is concerned with the abstract or mental aspects of sounds in language.
Compare to phonetics? Phonetics is the physical properties of speech sounds, for
example, how the sound is physically produced. Phonology serves as the underlying
design for all the variations in different physical articulations of a sound type in

Judaism In America
In America, people of a religious background tend to follow one of the five major
religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism. Although,
numerous people are Jewish I have never received the privilege to encounter
someone who s religion is Judaism. My question is if Judaism is listed as one of
most popular religions in America, why have I not had the fortuity to meet a
religious Jew? I ve met others whom are Christian, Catholic, Jehovah s Witness, and
Muslim, so to me Jews are a minority. I decided to engage in Sabbath so that I
become more educated about Jewish beliefs, rituals, and culture. Being that I have
only attended Christian worship services I figured participating in a Shabbat service
would be a new and interesting.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lay people then passed out challah, which is the Jewish Sabbath and holiday
bread, and a blessing of the challah took place. The prayer read Blessed are you,
Lord our God, King of the universe, who brings forth bread from the earth (BBC,
2009). While we enjoyed the challah the chazzan and lay people thanked my friend
and I for joining their service and most of all being respectful of their beliefs and
rituals. Additionally, they allowed us to ask questions. This is how I was able to
discover some issues are in regard to Judaism based off of their perspective. One of
the lay people explained that the holocaust still has eternal damage on Jewish people
and their culture. With Hitler invading Nazi Germany and separating Jews from one
another and others it caused a split in the religion. As reported by Maryles, a writer
for Jewish Press, Rabbi Weil declared a holocaust causes more Jews to be lost from
Judaism than the actual holocaust... the great boon to Jews in America is its
biggest bane . Meaning what s beneficial for one person is a burden to someone
else. Another conflict is intermarrying which means when people of various races
or religion become connected by marriage. Spouses following different religious
paths means they have opposite beliefs which can create afflicting ideals within
the marriage. Rabbi Weil also claims, The American ideal of freedom and our
widespread acceptance is in fact the double edged sword that is both helping us and
skewering us... the freedom this country offers allows us to shed any semblance of
our Judaism . An additional issue is the religious Jewish youth. A different lay
person from the Shabbat service said that the schools are not teaching the Torah the
same way it once was taught. Mentioned by Rabbi Zecharya Greenwald, students are
being told that if they do not carry themselves a certain way

The case chronicles the new leadership team s approach to transforming the basic
functions of the group, while concurrently managing the old processes until the
new ones are operable. The challenge is complicated by substantial resistance to
change by executives in powerful operating divisions affected by the compliance
responsibilities of the CDBG. Communication and collaboration across
organizational silos and the role of powerful sponsors are key elements of the
transformation. The case ends with a summary of early wins for the unit, and a list
of challenges its leaders will face over the next few years.

Depression And Substance Abuse
The occurrence or diagnosis of depression in relation to drug use or abuse presents
itself as a bi directional relationship. Meaning the onset of one of these factors
(depression or already present substance use) creates an equal opportunity for the
consequence of another factor to appear. Both depression and substance use and
dependency have the potential to co habitat each other in a comorbid state.
Symptoms occurring with depression, especially if they are left untreated, are shown
to have increased rates of drug use potential while consistent substance use and abuse
can cause depressive symptoms. In examining each condition separately and in
conjunction of one another as well as a variety of different effects caused by
substance use, treatment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to examine this relationship, substance abuse and addiction need to be
understood on its own first. Drug addictions contuse to persist on both a national
and global level; it is also significant to mention that such issues create a heavy
burden on government and justice systems that deal with them. In fact, 9% of
Americans meet the diagnostic criteria for a substance abuse disorder (6% for
alcohol and 3% for illicit drugs), making it one of the most common chronic diseases
in the United States (Compton Change 2017). Such prevalence adds pressure to
government systems and taxpayers as they are, estimated to cost Americans more
than $400 billion annually: $224 billion for alcohol ($25 billion in health care) and
$193 billion for illicit drugs ($11 billion in health care) (Compton and Chang 2017).
Now, substance abuse or addiction are considered, psychiatric illnesses with specific
indicators [which include] a strong desire to use (or craving), and [interruption of]
life activities [which are] generally reduced to drug seeking, drug using, and
recovering from the effects of use (Compton Chang 2017) When an individual tries
an addictive substance like nicotine, alcohol, or other illicit drugs, it activates certain
parts of the brain which can induce, pleasurable feelings and, very strong memories
that drive subsequent behaviors to repeat the rewarding experience (Compton Change
2017). If such a drive continues to persist it can transition into a habit and create a
dependency on that substance. Now, likewise to treatments to depression, those who
suffer from substance abuse disorders also have a variety of treatment options. These
treatment options include long term and short term residential treatments (inpatient
and outpatient), individualized drug counseling, and group counseling (NIDA, n.d).

was not originally a retailing store. Originally, Rowland targeted the mill industry
and it employees and opened four dry good stores. Unfortunately early success did
not come for Macy as the company s first stores actually all failed. Luckily, Mr.
Macy was a resilient man who learned from his early mistakes and realized that his
target market for this type of store was not mill employees but a higher end
clientele. He opened his new store R.H. MACY on Sixth Ave between 13th and
14th Street with the trademark star flying high. Mr. Macy had used his tattoo that
he had on his arm when he worked in Nantucket on a whaling ship, the Emily
Morgan. This was a success for Mr. Macy and as his company grew so did his
tactics and innovation on bringing in new customers. He was the first to implement
theme exhibits in his stories as well as illuminating window displays which was
new tactics in the late 1900 s. He was also the first store to use publicity devices to
bring in new customers and since they did not have modern communication he used
Santa Claus as a public figure to draw in customers. Unfortunately Mr. Macy would
not see the 20th century and passed away. After his death, the company had another
explosive growth cycle as
Hidden Motifs In The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight (2008) directed by Christopher Nolan, cinematography by Wally
Pfister. The Dark Knight (2008), directed by Christopher Nolan is an action thriller
that leaves you at the edge of your seat. Batman ( Christian Bale) battles with the
antagonist Joker throughout the movie, while Batman mends the Jokers corruptions
all through the city. I would recommend The Dark Knightand rate it a в… because
it displays many hidden motifs throughout. One of the motifs displays that even the
most evil of people have good in them, but also good people have bad in them too.
Batmanand the Jokerare an iconic duo that need each other to continue the lives that
they live. The third motif throughout the movie is a the minor but pertinent theme
of romance thrown into the thrill seeking movie. There is good and bad in
everyone, and the right situation will show a person s true colors. The inmates on
the boat play a key example of this. One of the inmates on the boat takes the
detonator and throws it out the window instead of blowing up the other boat.
Another example is Harvey Dent, and the persuasion of the Joker to turn him bad.
Harvey is well liked in the beginning but after Harvey s incident. Joker influences
Harvey to join him, thus, Harvey tries to kill... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Similarities Of Charlemagne And The Medieval Age
During the time period of 400 A.D to 1500, otherwise known as the Medieval Age,
there lived a variety of important people to history, ranging from political characters
to simple yet dangerous travelers. Of all these important people, the political
character Charlemagne and the cultural icon Geoffrey Chaucer stand out as having
many similarities and a few differences that are worth describing in detail to really
see how alike people in the Medieval Age really were.
One similarity between Charlemagne and Geoffrey Chaucer is that they were both
the Father of something. This title meant that the person of interest played a big part
in a change that became the new norm for the rest of history. Charlemagne was
known as the Father of Europe and Geoffrey was known as the Father of English
Literature . Charlemagne was the former king of the Franks, king of the Lombards,
and was the first Roman emperor for the Holy Roman Empire. One of his reigns were
the Franks, which were a Germanic tribe in Belgium, France, Luxemburg, the
Netherlands, and western Germany. One of his main goals were to unite all Germanic
tribes under one kingdom and convert them to Christianity. It was because of
Charlemagne that Christianity remained relevant in the west because of all his
efforts. Another one of his main goals was the Carolingian Renaissance, which he
wanted to be a cultural and intellectual revival of Europe. This meant that he wanted
Europe to become fuller of culture and intellectual

Brexit Literature Review
Literature review: In September 2017 Thomas Sampson from The London School of
Economics and Political Science wrote a Literature on Brexit. The title of the
literature was Brexit: The Economics of International Disintegration. In this literature
review I will briefly summarise the literature wrote by Thomas Sampson.
Brexit is a term commonly known as Britain exiting from European Union
membership. The historic referendum on the UK and EU membership held on June
23, 2016. Although majority of Londoner wanted to stay with EU, 52 percent voters
voted to support the leave campaign to leave European Union. Since World War two

outside of EU needs to pay tax and there is cost involved when the products or

A Speech On The Dark Side

headache, my dad left the house early. I knew where he had snuck off to and I

to gambling and no amount of hearing his hollow words about quitting will ever

Joan Of Arc Speech Outline
Good morning today my presentation is going to be on Joan of Arc
2:
Joan of Arc is known for many things. Her bravery in the siege of Orleans, her
ability to hear messages from god, her persistence and her leadership
Jeanne d Arc was born in 1412 in northern France, the daughter of a peasant farmer.
Joan was illiterate which makes her achievements, both as a woman and as a peasant,
even more remarkable.
At 12 years old Joan heard voices in her head and saw visions directing her to lead
France to victory against the English in the 100 Year War.
3:
When she was 16 years old Joan travelled to Vaucouleurs, a stronghold of the
Dauphin of France. She told the Captain there of her visions but he didn t believe her
and sent her home.
A year later she returned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

one of the youngest people in history to have commanded a national military army

4:
Charles equipped Joan with a small army, and on April 27, 1429, she set out for
Orleans, besieged by the English since October 1428. Joan led the attack on Orleans.
She used many strategies to free Orleans of the English like using a French sortie to
distract the English troops on the west side of the castle, Joan entered unopposed by
its eastern gate. She brought greatly needed supplies and reinforcements and inspired
the French to a passionate resistance.
She personally led the charge in several raids and the French won the day on May
the 8th, the English retreated from Orleans and after a fierce and decisive battle
France was victorious.
Joan of Arc achieved so much as she led many other successful attacks on the
English. Even though Joan of Arc never killed anyone she encouraged the soldiers
and became a military strategist leading the troops to flank and attack the enemy
unaware. She became a mascot of power and
House Cricket Experiment Essay
House Cricket Experiment
Introduction The topic of house cricket aggression in response to residency has
been previously studied. (Alexander 1961) split this aggression behavior into five
levels: 1) no aggression, dominance, or retreat; 2) no aggression with a retreat by one
cricket; 3) mild one sided aggression with mild repercussion; 4) moderate to intense
aggression from both crickets; or 5) sustained combat. Interestingly, in Polistes
wasps (Pardi 1948a), Sphecius wasps (Mr Norman Lin, personal communication), and
crayfish (Bovbjerg 1953; Lowe 1956) aggressive behavior has been split into four or
five levels. (Alexander 1961)

The containers were plastic and 18 by 15 by 6 centimeters long. Prior to the
experiment being performed, the crickets had spent a week in these residencies.
Along with the crickets in the plastic containers, there was wet pieces of paper
towel and a slice of carrot. The procedure started with placing the intruder cricket
into another cricket s residence. The intruder was distinguished from the resident by
marking its body with a colored marker provided for the experiment. Once the
intruder was in the container, a trial of ten minutes started. The object was to tally
the winner each time the two crickets interacted in aggressive behavior. The loser
was determined by which cricket backed up from the interaction first. After the ten
minutes were up, the winner of the trial was the cricket with the most tallies. If the
score was tied, the crickets were watched for an additional minute. This procedure
was repeated twice for the remaining four crickets. A Chi square test was used for
hypothesis testing. This is used to determine that the observed number of wins of the
resident from the trials is different from what would be observed by chance. The null
hypothesis was observed wins will be equal to that expected by chance. On the other
hand, the alternative hypothesis was observed wins will not be equal to that expected
by chance. The class hypothesis was proven correct that resident male crickets have a

(OB/GYN). An OB/GYN helps women with pregnancy, childbirth, general care
and women with diseases in the reproductive system ( Summary ). I chose this
career because I want to make miracles happen and bring life into this world. It is
important to understand the education or training requirements, skills and talents
needed, salary and benefits offered and the duties for this particular career in
making this decision. I love working in big environments with a lot of people. I
would be working in either a hospital or at a clinic depending on what the

The schedule for an OB/GYN s week can differ from any other doctor in the
hospital/ clinic. OB/GYN s work approximately 50 to 70 hours per week. Working
in a hospital, the schedules can be more regular than working in a private practice.
Every doctor is different. Each physician or doctor will have different daily

The daily routines consist of exams, post OP s, deliveries and surgeries. Doctors are

The Pros And Disadvantages Of The European Monetary
Union
The European Monetary Union is distinguished by a general monetary policy and in
the same time, also by twelve national fiscal policies from the member states. The
European Monetary Union is unique and different in term of operating mechanism as
it lacks a central fiscal authority. The intention of the absence of a central fiscal
authority is to establish a similar construction of the organisation, with a fiscal
decentralization (Furceri, 2004). Analysts contend that the carefully management of
the European Monetary Union will boost a positive relationship between the free
trade of the member states and the monetary system itself, since, the monetary system
will be able to reduce the cost of transportation transaction, stabilizing the society...

The division of fiscal transfer mechanism instead of having a single mechanism has
been criticized for two main reasons (Furceri, 2004). Firstly, the ordinary monetary
policy of European Monetary Union has been commonly known to cause asymmetric
effects among the member states. The asymmetric effect of the monetary policy will
be unable to ensure the status of economy of the whole European Union. Next, it is
possible that the single fiscal policy of the countries involving in European Union
will be ineffective in smoothing cyclical fluctuations of the Gross Domestic Product
(GDP) around the potential level. GDP, which is one of the principal indicator to
determine the size of the economy of a country, should be maintained around the
potential level to ensure a healthy growth of economy. However, the implement of
single fiscal policy in European Union is inefficient to reduce the impacts of
continual change of GDP. If the problem of asymmetric shocks continued, the
imbalance contribution of economy among the member states will become more
The Theme Of Death In Mid Term Break
Seamus Heaney conveys the theme of death effectively through an early death of a
family member, a 4 year old brother in this case. Mid Term Break is a first person
interpretation of the experience of facing death for the first time. Heaney takes
readers along the journey to accept the death of his brother. As he confronts death, he
realises how death can affect those he loves. In contrast, Emily Dickinson has put
death in the form of a gentleman suitor. Death is not described as a painful process
but completely tranquil and relaxing.
In Because I Could Not Stop for Death, death has been effectively shown as the
journey to afterlife, as a peaceful, gentle process into eternity. The opening stanza
virtually summarises what the poem says as a ... Show more content on

take the next step. All On 4 or Teeth in One Day is one of the newest dental implant
options available, and is revolutionizing lives, and smiles, each day.
While many people think of dental implants as the next step for those wearing
dentures, these implants are a valuable treatment plan for people who have suffered
dental illness, broken or missing, teeth, or low self esteem or confidence because of

The titanium used for the screws and inserted into the jawbone is crucial for an
implant healing stage called osseointegration; this step means that the titanium rods
fuse to the bone, helping to maintain bone mass structure.
All On 4s Are a Permanent Solution
Unlike dentures, which don t feel natural and must be taken out each night to be
cleaned, dental implants are permanently affixed to the bone, giving patients peace
of mind in any situation. Once the All on 4 implant is complete, you ll continue to
see your dentist on a normal, regular schedule. Implanted teeth will never pinch or
slip, won t come out, and are designed to provide years or long lasting dental care
and comfort.
All On 4s are Efficient
Traditional implants require a series of many appointments. From the initial exam, to
the lengthy bone grafting process to build up the base that will hold the implant
screws, patients who get traditional implants find themselves taking excess time off
from work to complete the process. Once the bone grafting process is complete,
traditional implants require four to eight implants in one arch, which requires longer

Who Is The Play Wrighter In Antigone
Play wrighter, Sophocles in his play, Antigone argues that when it comes to justice,
people in general often times struggle with society and themselves; therefore, human
beings have a natural tendency to have pride and let it affect their decisions which
can lead to being stubborn and not want to face the truth but feel the guilt. He
supports his claim by first declaring the law, the finds out that the body has been

He establishes a eye opening tone for the readers of Antigone. According to
Antigone creon s state of mind towards the end of the story is guilt for the deaths
and feels a heavy burden. Creon feels guilty and responsible for Haemon s death as
he states, I was the fool, not you; and you died for me (I.v.92). This shows that
creon feels for the of him, he has lost his son. This statement also means wrong all
along and his son was right but because creon could not see that earlier now his son
is dead. Creon also feels regret for being stubborn and blind to the truth, creon
states, My own blind heart has brought me from darkness to final darkness (I.v.86
87). This statement that creon has said means that he was being stubborn and not
listening to his son when he was trying to tell him the truth but for not listening
creon lost his one and only son. This also means that losing his son has brought him
from a low point in his life to the lowest point ever, where nothing and no one will
ever matter to him. Creon also just wants to die all
History of Land Grant Institutions
Before 1862, higher education was a privilege for the wealthy and elite members of
society. These habits were inherited from the European class system and designed
society in an aristocratic way where nobility was viewed more importantly than
value and worth. A college education was generally available if you were wealthy,
white, and male. Many of the subjects that were available were things such as Latin,
literature, law, or the classics, usually held at a private school.
Education of the working class was left to guilds and unions, where tradesmen
instructed apprentices, their knowledge base with a learn on the job mentality. In the
United States throughout the 19th century, the entire education system was at a grass
roots level and certainly informal and independent.
The idea of education for all people was revolutionary. There was nothing else like it
in the world. At the beginning of the industrial revolution and the massive migration
into the western United States, the land grant universities represented a radical idea:
public education is fundamental to the nation s economic development.
Land grant universities stem from the Morill Land Grand Acts that were adopted
throughout the 1800 s. The Morrill Act of 1862 was also known as the Land Grant
College Act. It was a major boost to higher education in America. The grant was
originally set up to establish institutions in each state in America. These school would
educate people in agriculture, home economics,
The End Of One War
The end of one war and the Beginning of Another Following World War II in 1945,
many parts of Europe were left in ruins. The economies of warring nations were
destroyed, and many civilians suffered terribly. Despite their cooperation during
World War II, a tension of beliefs between the United States and the Soviet Union
which had begun during the Russian Revolution in 1917, reemerged as World War II
came to an end. The Cold Warwas a non violent conflict between the United States
and the Soviet Union that turned out to last for almost fifty years after the second
World War. As World War II drew to a close in 1945, past animosities rose again, as
a result of the fact that the United States and the Soviet Union were left as the two
of the strongest nations. The Cold War surfaced towards the end of World War II
as the communist and capitalist allies met at a series of three conferences in an
attempt address the post war future, but the difference of beliefs ultimately created
obstacles in the process. After the second world war, against Germany and its allies,
the United States of America (USA) and the Soviet Union (USSR) were the two of
the strongest countries left standing, but only one could emerge as the true leader.
Even though there was tension between the two countries even before World War II,
they agreed to put their differences aside and unite to fight the Nazis. Once the war
was over, remaining allies in the future seemed like a complicated task because

Essay on River in Siddhartha by Herman Hesse
River in Siddhartha by Herman Hesse
The river is a source of knowledge. It symbolises a teacher, a guru, one who knows
and is aware of this knowledge and who imparts it to those who seek knowledge
from it. In Herman Hesse s novella Siddhartha, the protagonist Siddhartha is deeply
mystified by the secrets and puzzles of the river. He seeks to unravel and them and
gain knowledge from the river in order to achieve his goal of attaining nirvana,
enlightenment. He is helped in his course by a ferryman Vasudeva, who has lived all
his life close to the river, transporting people from one side to the other. He too has

that Siddhartha had already learnt one thing about the river that it is good to seek,
to go into depth and this was very good. Vasudeva says The river knows everything

knowledge to Siddhartha since he whished to seek knowledge from it. It would also

In the end, after searching so much for nirvana, after living through so much,
Siddhartha attains salvation in front of the river. Vasudeva helps him to listen deeply

How Does Grant Lose His Own Destiny In A Lesson Before
Dying
The way people decide and the actions they do determine how their life goes. The
forces outside of our control do all the controlling in our destiny in my opinion.
Anything at any given moment, anything could happen to you, whether it s good
or bad. The point is that we don t know what s expected, so that means we have no
control of what lies ahead of our lives. In A Lesson Before Dying, Ernest J. Gaines
introduces a variety of characters with different ways of life. Some white people
and some African Americans. Grant the main character besides Jefferson, is a
teacher who is best used for helping out black men and what they can and can t do
in the south today. Grant s reaction to him being a teacher was negative because
even himself didn t believe that he was one because he didn t consider himself one.
Him becoming a teacher of an example how Gaines shows us how Grant can t
really control his own destiny. He also thinks that he s only good for helping other
black folks. I m the teacher... and i teach what the white folks around here tell me to

Stalemate In Ww1
The land war in Europe had become a destructive beast which incessantly consumed
supplies, equipment, and soldiers at massive rates. The British had established a
naval blockade on Germany directly upon the outbreak of war in August 1914. The
war on land quickly spread to the sea, with the first major battle on the water
occurring on August 28, 1914, in a corner of the North Sea known as Helgoland
Bight. This battle resulted in an early German defeat at sea which intimidated Kaiser
Wilhelm II. The hesitation of the German naval forces contributed further to
stalemate. The British had asserted their dominance in traditional naval warfare. But
it did not last once the German new technologies came into play. Resupply ships
streamed across the Atlantic, braving submarine attacks, underwater mines, and aerial
bombardment. New technologies were invented and refined,... Show more content on

All of this served to place a continuous strangle hold on land based troops thereby
contributing to the stalemate of WWI. Stalemate is term that implies a near
impossible situation in which no one can win or advance. The reasons for the
dissolution of war into a stalemate are multifaceted. Among the explanations for the
stalemate of WWI, the most obvious is the lack of effective communication between
the different levels of command and between the front line and supporting artillery.
Telephones were used but the wires were easily cut by artillery and often units were
reduced to using runners, which caused a delay of hours if the message got through
at all. Radios existed but they were too bulky for use in the trenches. Furthermore,
WWI also saw the introduction of much new weaponry which completely changed
the face of war and contributed to stalemate. The introduction of the

natural wonders. They went to the government and asked them to create something
called national parks. Responding to these calls, Congress and President Abraham
Lincoln put California in charge of taking care of Yosemite during the civil war. The
world s first official national parkwas Yellowstone when it was created in 1872.
Many more parks soon followed. National parks were created For the benefit and

It is located in Bar Harbor, Maine. When it became a national park in 1919, it was

which obtained 6,000 acres of Acadian land by 1913. The land was then given to

Acadia. Acadia was the first national park east of the Mississippi River and was the
first park to be made of entirely donated land. Some days, walking Acadian summits,
soaking up the informed silence of these mountains, you ll want to bow to everything
you see. (Christopher Camuto, Time and Tide in Acadia) Acadia is the home to the
highest point along the North Atlantic seaboard; Cadillac Mountain. Also, glaciers
shaped Acadia into what it is today. Evidence of glaciers can be seen almost
everywhere in the park. With its beaches, coasts, forests, ponds, mountains, wetlands,

Battle and Siege of Sarajevo to Recognize Bosnia and...
The UN report on the Battle and Siege of Sarajevo is a document that records the
events within the city from April 5th 1992 to February 28th 1994. The document s
purpose is to shine a light and describe the consequence of the Battle of Sarajevo
and its violations of human law. Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The city s name is derived from Seraglio , meaning palace in the fields in Turkish.
Sarajevos history dates back to Roman times with the Slavs eventually conquering the
area. The cities architecture is comprised of 3 influences, which the text (UN report)
describes as the old Oriental heart of the city, the turn of the century Viennese city
around it, and the contemporary high rise apartment buildings and... Show more

An attempt to control the streets and people would thus lead to catastrophic failure.
The Sarajevo Romanija Corps instead resorted to continuously bombarding the city
from the surrounding hills in order to stay in control.
It is in this environment that The Cellist of Sarajevo takes place. Resources are
scarce and enemy snipers gun down citizens. Within Sarajevo there lives a cellist
who was famous before the war. One day as the Cellist watches people line up
outside his window to buy food, a mortar shell lands in the middle of the group,
killing 22 of them. The Cellist vows to play Albonini s Adagio in the crater created
from the bombing for 22 days, one day for each of the dead.
Arrow is another inhabitant of the city. She is a sniper who was recruited to protect
the Cellist and defend him from enemy snipers who might gun him down. The
constant barrage inspires her to use her abilities to save lives. The character of
Kenan contrasts with Arrow. The bombardment has left him terrified of the city he
lives in. Every four days he makes a dangerous trip across town to fetch water for
his family. He also fetches water for his neighbor, an old woman who doesn t seem
to appreciate the risk he puts himself through for her. During his journey, he is
angered after seeing men drive around in fancy cars while he and his family starve.
These are clearly men
A Sand Country Almanac Analysis
As the swamp is most vital to the species that live in it, the value of nature is most
desperately felt by the urgent parties indicating that humans, caught in the modern
trend towards economical profit and away from ecological ethics, have often failed
to notice such vitality of nature to itself as well as to other parties. However, Aldo
Leopoldbrilliantly successes to break this common rule and spot the importance of
nature in A Sand Country Almanac. In A Sand Country Almanac, Leopold releases
observations of the current ecological problems in the first branch, confirms the need
for ecological ethics in the second, and proposes conclusions of such phenomenon in
the third. Leopold concludes that humanbeings need to overcome the lack... Show

In my opinion, the ignorance comes from a lack of concern. How can a person who
buys food at a perfectly organized grocery store feel the same urgency for
environmental ethics as a deer that eats plants for food? Leopold puts such thought in
this way: He has no vital relation to it; to him it is the space between cities on which
crops grow... In short, land is something he has outgrown. (Leopold, 293) There will
an advancement in land ethics only when the individuals face direct impact from their
environmental choices. Land ethics, thereby, is not just an intellectual process but
also an emotional
Finding The Journey InThe Alchemist, By Paulo Coelho
Dreams depend on the person and whether they can make them happen. In The
Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, a boy named Santiago is on a journey to find his
treasure. He later pursues finding this treasure with the help of many other
characters, and develops into a well rounded, knowledgeable person. Paulo Coelho
explains that if an individual keeps dreaming about one s treasure, not only should
one go and find it but also learn from your journey as one gets there. Paulo Coelho
shows how Santiago overcomes his obstacles, in order to seek his treasure and
defeat the challenges he must face to get to his treasure and as well as
incorporating other characters to help him alongside with his travels. Santiago
dreams of an unknown desire that awaits him. One of his helpers is a crystal
merchant. The man turns out to be the king of Salem. Santiago starts to tell him
about the dreams he keeps having, and the old king dealt with Santiago. The king
said he would tell him what his treasure is for the price of six sheep. The secret of
happiness is to see all the marvels of the world, and never to forget the drops of oil
on the spoon, proving that getting to Santiago s dreamwill give him new lessons to
learn and opportunities (Coelho,35). The old king implies that without spilling the
oil from the spoon, one will be on the right path to your personal legend. The old
king has given Santiago his first lesson about his travel and life. In addition, Santiago
meets new people and has enough

  • 1. Othello Analysis Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Othello Analysis" can be a challenging endeavor. The complexity arises from the depth and intricacies of Shakespeare's play, "Othello," which requires a thorough understanding of its characters, themes, and literary devices. Analyzing the psychological nuances of characters like Othello, Iago, and Desdemona demands a keen insight into the motivations that drive their actions. Moreover, delving into the cultural and historical context of the play adds another layer of complexity. The societal norms and prejudices of the time shape the characters' behaviors and decisions, making it essential to explore the broader implications of the narrative. The linguistic richness of Shakespearean verse presents yet another obstacle. Unraveling the metaphorical and symbolic language used in "Othello" requires a careful examination of each line, often necessitating a comprehensive grasp of Elizabethan English. To successfully navigate these challenges, one must dedicate ample time to research, textual analysis, and critical interpretation. It's not merely summarizing the plot but unraveling the layers of meaning embedded in the play. Additionally, constructing a coherent and persuasive argument requires a well-structured essay with a clear thesis, supported by evidence from the text. Balancing analysis and interpretation, while maintaining clarity and conciseness, is a formidable task that demands careful planning and revision. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Othello Analysis" is a formidable undertaking, demanding a combination of literary insight, historical awareness, and analytical prowess. The process involves navigating the complexities of Shakespearean language, understanding the characters' psyches, and unraveling the broader societal context. • 2. Biography of Wyatt Earp Essay Biography of Wyatt Earp Wyatt Earp, born Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, was born on March 19, 1848 in Manmouth, Illinois to Nicholas and Virginia Earp. When Wyatt was two, his parents moved him across the Mississippi River to Pella, Iowa. He was considered a great western lawman. His first experience as a lawman was as a constable of Lamar, Missouri for four months in the year 1870. In April, 1875, he was appointed to the Wichita Kansas police force only to be released from that job on April 2, 1876 for insubordination. After that, Wyatt moved to Dodge City, Kansas where he served as a police man three separate times. The first time he served from May 17 until September 9, 1876; the second time he served was from July 6 until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A very historical event occurred soon after Wyatt took the detective job with Wells, Fargo Company; the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. This event is very controversial even today. According to the name of the event, the shutout occurred in the back entrance of the O.K. Corral. Yet, according to the research that I have done, the shootout actually occurred about half a block over from the O.K. Corral in the side yard of ex mayor William A. Harwood and from there it spread out into the middle of Fremont Street. Of course, the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral sounds much better than the Gunfight in Harwood s Yard and Fremont Street so I guess someone decided to change it. O.K. Corral has much more of a Western ring to it. Personally, I think the Gunfight in Tombstone sounds pretty good, but there s no point trying to change it now. Virgil, Wyatt s older brother, was Tombstone s city marshal at the time of the shootout. He was also a deputy U.S. marshal. At the time of the gunfight, Wyatt considered himself a saloonkeeper, since he had a piece of the gambling winnings at the Oriental Saloon. This event included four of the Old West s best known law enforcers and also some of the Old West s best known villains . The three Earp brothers; Virgil, Wyatt and Morgan all participated in the gunfight with Doc Holliday at their side. John Doc Holliday was a good friend of Wyatt s plus he had a
  • 3. Essay about Media Influence Upon Modern Society The Mass Media is a unique feature of modern society; its development has accompanied an increase in the magnitude and complexity of societal actions and engagements, rapid social change, technological innovation, rising personal income and standard of living and the decline of some traditional forms of control and authority. There is an association between the development of mass media and social change, although the degree and direction of this association is still debated upon even after years of study into media influence. Many of the consequences, either detrimental or beneficial, which have been attributed to the mass media, are almost undoubtedly due to other tendencies within society. Few sociologists would refute the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is regarded as one of the first in the area of or notion that the mass media has an affect on the societal attitudes and beliefs of that time. This was soon follow around about a decade later in 1941 by Katz, Berelson, and Lazarsfeld who also decided to research into the topic of media effects, a research which produced the now commonly known Minimum Effects Model . The main aspect of this research being to investigate any possible link or factor that may influence voting behaviour. As has been described in numerous literature it s discovery was that the mass media played little or no part in the process of the formation of any political opinion, attitude or preference. They came to the conclusion that the biggest factor influencing people was not the media, but other people. By the 1960 s, there was a revival of Marxist attitudes, and so the work of Katz, Lazarsfeld, and Berelson was largely dismissed in favour of re examining the model of research into media effects, due to the modifications the mass media had undergone in the post 1941 period, to consider another way in which to investigate the influence and the effects of the media. Influence, society and individuals As Jane Root wrote in the book Open The Box , which delves into the possibilities of media influence, It has a role in defining what we think of as
  • 4. Essay on College Costs College Costs Introduction It s no secret that financing a college education is getting tougher. College costs have skyrocketed over the past decade or so, and there s no relief in sight. Average tuition at four year colleges will increase 7 percent this school year, double the rate of inflation. Student aid is not increasing fast enough to plug the growing gap between tuition and family finances. In addition, there is a growing number of older students entering college today. These students have families that they need to support. I know, because I am a family man who has returned to school. I wish to finish my degree at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The only problems I face are financial in nature. It is with this in mind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These costs are partially or fully covered by an employer. In the event they are not let us include them in the poverty scenario, which basically means the family must pay the costs. The total amount of funds needed are $17700 the first year. If you increase that number by 4.8% each year thereafter you can come up with the projected amount for each school year. The $17700 figure remains the obstacle to overcome. This cost has to be covered by Financial Aid. If this cost cannot be covered by the available system, the student will not be able to pursue a standard four year degree at RIT. Family s Will Strain It s going to be tougher to pay for college in 1996, and that s going to widen the gap in enrollment between rich and poor students that the nation has struggled three decades to close. Average tuition at four year colleges will increase 6 percent this school year, double the rate of inflation. But family income isn t keeping pace; after adjusting for inflation, the average family has gained hardly any ground in the 1990s, says the Department of Labor. As a result, says the Department of Education, sending a student to a private college in 1996 without any grants or loans will require more than a third of a typical family s income and nearly two thirds of the income of a working poor family. The Government Student aid is not increasing fast enough to plug the growing gap between tuition and family finances. The federal government supplies 75
  • 5. The Garden Lodge by Willa Cather Cather s The Garden Lodge is about a woman named Caroline Noble whose husband, Howard, asked her if she would like to demolish their old garden lodge and replace it with a summer house. The conflict in the story is Caroline is not sure if she wants to knock down the old garden lodge because it brings back memories of when opera singer Raymond d Esquerre, spent a month at their place. The resolution is that Caroline decides to go on with building the summer house and demolishing the garden lodge. Cather made the social environment more important than anything else that involves the setting. The author uses the highly used point of view third person limited omniscient, getting into the main characters, Caroline s, thoughts and touching on her feelings: She had an angry feeling that she had done it rather in self defiance... (3). This point of view helps to get an idea of what Caroline thinks about everything around her especially the lodge. Cather puts one important symbol in the story that explains everything. The garden lodge is a literary symbol that stands for Caroline s past and what she has gained from ridding of that point of time. D Esquerre coming to live with them in the lodge and bringing back her enjoyment of music made her feel like she was like her father, holding on to something that will not move her further in life. She would go into the lodge ...for a quiet time every day during the two weeks since d Esquerre had left them (3) and felt ashamed of doing so. She felt, finally, in the end that it was best to get rid of the lodge. It was like a piece of her past that was yet to be removed and that, in her mind, her love of music would lead her back to poverty. She did not want to think about that, so she removed they one thing that kept her with that mind set. The theme of the story is poverty clouds a person mind of the appreciation of something special. • 6. Difference Between The Entertainment And Media Culture The Entertainment and Media Culture Cherie Belcher HUM/186 12/18/2017 Allyson Wells The Entertainment and Media Culture There are many different forms of entertainment media that has made an impact on the American culture. However, the one I feel that has made the biggest impact on American culture is the music industry. I say that because, if you look at the music from the 50 s and the 60 s, the music was smooth, it spoke to the teens and the adults in a certain way, the kids danced in a calm manner, they danced in a respectful manner. In the 70 s and 80 s, the music took on a distinctive style, therefore, the dances and the clothing took on a different style. The clothing began to show body parts, the stomach was the main part that showed. In the 50 s and 60 s you just did not do that. You kept your body covered. When the music changed, the kids changed. In the 80 s and 90 s, it took on more of a drastic change. Rap came on the scene, as well as, the disco era. When this era came about, the kids changed even more. Their clothing, haircuts, and even their language changed. It got to be such a drastic change where men were wearing makeup and as much jewelry as the women were. Then came the Gangsta Rap, which brought about the gang scene. Everybody was wearing their clothes extra big and baggy. The wearing of a certain color meant you represented a certain gang and the wearing of your cap meant something else, however, it all represented gang signs. The
  • 7. The Blessed Lodovica Albertoni ( Fig ) The definition of artworks and the labelling of them as objects of a distinguished style of their time can be helpful to maintain an organised view of the history of art. However, defining a piece, or an artist, as belonging uniquely to a certain style reduce the possibilities of a different reading of them. To illustrate this point, I will comment the Blessed Lodovica Albertoni (fig.1), a sculpture of the 17th Century by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, focusing on the approach of Rudolf Wittkower (1901 71) in his book Gian Lorenzo Bernini: the sculptor of the Roman baroque. Although the addition of the subtitle clearly defines the sculpture as part of the Italian baroque, it is interesting how at the same time Wittkower includes a view on Bernini s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As he comments the importance of the diagonal in his previous works, this sculpture is described as angular in contrast with the modelling of the figure. The spirituality of the Blessed is emphasised by the violent movement of the fold of the mantles. Wittkower adds to the picture an inclination towards the classical linearity, as Bernini s work did from the 1660s. He compares it with other artists from the same period, who tended to serene their designs towards the end of their lives. However, he emphasises on his interpretation of the sculpture as it portraits the emotional and dramatic effect that is considered typical of the baroque . Accompanying the short mention of the sculpture, Wittkower includes a comment in the catalogue of images. First, the catalogue gives context to the figure and relates it to others of Bernini s works at the time. Supposedly commissioned by Cardinal Paluzzo degli Albertoni, sketches proves the beginning of the work in 1671 . Bernini sculpted the figure by himself. His other commissions made him finish the sculpture in 1674. Although it is surprising the artist did not receive remuneration for the piece, it is known he worked for free for the Altieri family in order to avoid publicity on behalf of his brother s past criminal offence . Secondly, Wittkower comments the relationship of the sculpture and the painting, Gaulli s Virgin and Child
  • 8. The Difference Between Phonetics And Phonology Language is a human attribute. People are able to exchange knowledge, information, opinions, beliefs, wishes, and promises through language. The study of phonetics is not only to indicate the difference between the written and spoken language but it is about describing the sounds that are made when we articulate a word. In addition, Phonology is concerned with the abstract or mental aspects of sounds in language. Compare to phonetics? • 9. Judaism In America In America, people of a religious background tend to follow one of the five major religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism. Although, numerous people are Jewish I have never received the privilege to encounter someone who s religion is Judaism. My question is if Judaism is listed as one of most popular religions in America, why have I not had the fortuity to meet a religious Jew? I ve met others whom are Christian, Catholic, Jehovah s Witness, and Muslim, so to me Jews are a minority. I decided to engage in Sabbath so that I become more educated about Jewish beliefs, rituals, and culture. Being that I have only attended Christian worship services I figured participating in a Shabbat service would be a new and interesting.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lay people then passed out challah, which is the Jewish Sabbath and holiday bread, and a blessing of the challah took place. The prayer read Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the universe, who brings forth bread from the earth (BBC, 2009). While we enjoyed the challah the chazzan and lay people thanked my friend and I for joining their service and most of all being respectful of their beliefs and rituals. Additionally, they allowed us to ask questions. This is how I was able to discover some issues are in regard to Judaism based off of their perspective. One of the lay people explained that the holocaust still has eternal damage on Jewish people and their culture. With Hitler invading Nazi Germany and separating Jews from one another and others it caused a split in the religion. As reported by Maryles, a writer for Jewish Press, Rabbi Weil declared a holocaust causes more Jews to be lost from Judaism than the actual holocaust... the great boon to Jews in America is its biggest bane . Meaning what s beneficial for one person is a burden to someone else. Another conflict is intermarrying which means when people of various races or religion become connected by marriage. Spouses following different religious paths means they have opposite beliefs which can create afflicting ideals within the marriage. Rabbi Weil also claims, The American ideal of freedom and our widespread acceptance is in fact the double edged sword that is both helping us and skewering us... the freedom this country offers allows us to shed any semblance of our Judaism . An additional issue is the religious Jewish youth. A different lay person from the Shabbat service said that the schools are not teaching the Torah the same way it once was taught. Mentioned by Rabbi Zecharya Greenwald, students are being told that if they do not carry themselves a certain way

  • 17. Depression And Substance Abuse The occurrence or diagnosis of depression in relation to drug use or abuse presents itself as a bi directional relationship. Meaning the onset of one of these factors (depression or already present substance use) creates an equal opportunity for the consequence of another factor to appear. Both depression and substance use and dependency have the potential to co habitat each other in a comorbid state. In order to examine this relationship, substance abuse and addiction need to be understood on its own first. Drug addictions contuse to persist on both a national and global level; it is also significant to mention that such issues create a heavy burden on government and justice systems that deal with them. In fact, 9% of Americans meet the diagnostic criteria for a substance abuse disorder (6% for alcohol and 3% for illicit drugs), making it one of the most common chronic diseases in the United States (Compton Change 2017). Such prevalence adds pressure to government systems and taxpayers as they are, estimated to cost Americans more than $400 billion annually: $224 billion for alcohol ($25 billion in health care) and $193 billion for illicit drugs ($11 billion in health care) (Compton and Chang 2017). Now, substance abuse or addiction are considered, psychiatric illnesses with specific indicators [which include] a strong desire to use (or craving), and [interruption of] life activities [which are] generally reduced to drug seeking, drug using, and recovering from the effects of use (Compton Chang 2017) When an individual tries an addictive substance like nicotine, alcohol, or other illicit drugs, it activates certain parts of the brain which can induce, pleasurable feelings and, very strong memories that drive subsequent behaviors to repeat the rewarding experience (Compton Change 2017). If such a drive continues to persist it can transition into a habit and create a dependency on that substance. Now, likewise to treatments to depression, those who suffer from substance abuse disorders also have a variety of treatment options. These treatment options include long term and short term residential treatments (inpatient and outpatient), individualized drug counseling, and group counseling (NIDA, n.d). With

Its long history of retailing is over 150 years old. It was founded in 1843 by Rowland Hussey Macy in Harverhill, Massachusetts and was not originally a retailing store. Originally, Rowland targeted the mill industry and it employees and opened four dry good stores. Unfortunately early success did not come for Macy as the company s first stores actually all failed. Luckily, Mr. Macy was a resilient man who learned from his early mistakes and realized that his target market for this type of store was not mill employees but a higher end clientele. He opened his new store R.H. MACY on Sixth Ave between 13th and 14th Street with the trademark star flying high. Mr. Macy had used his tattoo that he had on his arm when he worked in Nantucket on a whaling ship, the Emily Morgan. This was a success for Mr. Macy and as his company grew so did his tactics and innovation on bringing in new customers. He was the first to implement theme exhibits in his stories as well as illuminating window displays which was new tactics in the late 1900 s. Batman ( Christian Bale) battles with the antagonist Joker throughout the movie, while Batman mends the Jokers corruptions all through the city. I would recommend The Dark Knightand rate it a в… because it displays many hidden motifs throughout. One of the motifs displays that even the most evil of people have good in them, but also good people have bad in them too. Batmanand the Jokerare an iconic duo that need each other to continue the lives that they live. The third motif throughout the movie is a the minor but pertinent theme of romance thrown into the thrill seeking movie. There is good and bad in everyone, and the right situation will show a person s true colors. The inmates on the boat play a key example of this. One of the inmates on the boat takes the detonator and throws it out the window instead of blowing up the other boat. Another example is Harvey Dent, and the persuasion of the Joker to turn him bad. Of all these important people, the political character Charlemagne and the cultural icon Geoffrey Chaucer stand out as having many similarities and a few differences that are worth describing in detail to really see how alike people in the Medieval Age really were. One similarity between Charlemagne and Geoffrey Chaucer is that they were both the Father of something. The intruder was distinguished from the resident by marking its body with a colored marker provided for the experiment. Once the intruder was in the container, a trial of ten minutes started. The object was to tally the winner each time the two crickets interacted in aggressive behavior. The loser was determined by which cricket backed up from the interaction first. After the ten minutes were up, the winner of the trial was the cricket with the most tallies. If the score was tied, the crickets were watched for an additional minute. This procedure was repeated twice for the remaining four crickets. A Chi square test was used for hypothesis testing. This is used to determine that the observed number of wins of the resident from the trials is different from what would be observed by chance. The null hypothesis was observed wins will be equal to that expected by chance. On the other hand, the alternative hypothesis was observed wins will not be equal to that expected by chance. The class hypothesis was proven correct that resident male crickets have a greater motivation to defend

Next, it is possible that the single fiscal policy of the countries involving in European Union will be ineffective in smoothing cyclical fluctuations of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) around the potential level. These habits were inherited from the European class system and designed society in an aristocratic way where nobility was viewed more importantly than value and worth. A college education was generally available if you were wealthy, white, and male. Many of the subjects that were available were things such as Latin, literature, law, or the classics, usually held at a private school. Education of the working class was left to guilds and unions, where tradesmen instructed apprentices, their knowledge base with a learn on the job mentality. • 37. Stalemate In Ww1 The land war in Europe had become a destructive beast which incessantly consumed supplies, equipment, and soldiers at massive rates. The British had established a naval blockade on Germany directly upon the outbreak of war in August 1914. The war on land quickly spread to the sea, with the first major battle on the water occurring on August 28, 1914, in a corner of the North Sea known as Helgoland Bight. This battle resulted in an early German defeat at sea which intimidated Kaiser Wilhelm II. The hesitation of the German naval forces contributed further to stalemate. The British had asserted their dominance in traditional naval warfare. But it did not last once the German new technologies came into play. Stalemate is term that implies a near impossible situation in which no one can win or advance. The reasons for the dissolution of war into a stalemate are multifaceted. Among the explanations for the stalemate of WWI, the most obvious is the lack of effective communication between the different levels of command and between the front line and supporting artillery. Telephones were used but the wires were easily cut by artillery and often units were reduced to using runners, which caused a delay of hours if the message got through at all. Radios existed but they were too bulky for use in the trenches. Furthermore, WWI also saw the introduction of much new weaponry which completely changed the face of war and contributed to stalemate. The introduction of the

When it became a national park in 1919, it was originally called Lafayette National Park. Acadia was created because a man named George B. Dorr devoted a lot of time and money in preserving the landscape. He organized the Hancock County Trustees of Public Reservations, which obtained 6,000 acres of Acadian land by 1913. The land was then given to the federal government, and in 1916, the Sieur de Monts National Monument was created. But Dorr continued donating time and money until Acadia finally obtained full national park status. Acadia National Park used to be the center of Wabanaki traditional homelands for thousands of years. They had, and still have, a unique and spiritual relationship with the land. Peregrine falcons are also very important in Acadia. They are the fastest animal on earth when in a dive, and many nest in Acadia. Acadia was the first national park east of the Mississippi River and was the first park to be made of entirely donated land. Some days, walking Acadian summits, soaking up the informed silence of these mountains, you ll want to bow to everything you see. Evidence of glaciers can be seen almost everywhere in the park. With its beaches, coasts, forests, ponds, mountains, wetlands, and other geologic formations, Acadia is a beautiful place to

The document s purpose is to shine a light and describe the consequence of the Battle of Sarajevo and its violations of human law. Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city s name is derived from Seraglio , meaning palace in the fields in Turkish. Sarajevos history dates back to Roman times with the Slavs eventually conquering the area. The Sarajevo Romanija Corps instead resorted to continuously bombarding the city from the surrounding hills in order to stay in control. It is in this environment that The Cellist of Sarajevo takes place. Resources are scarce and enemy snipers gun down citizens. Within Sarajevo there lives a cellist who was famous before the war. One day as the Cellist watches people line up outside his window to buy food, a mortar shell lands in the middle of the group, killing 22 of them. The Cellist vows to play Albonini s Adagio in the crater created from the bombing for 22 days, one day for each of the dead. Arrow is another inhabitant of the city. She is a sniper who was recruited to protect the Cellist and defend him from enemy snipers who might gun him down. The constant barrage inspires her to use her abilities to save lives. The character of Kenan contrasts with Arrow. The bombardment has left him terrified of the city he lives in. Every four days he makes a dangerous trip across town to fetch water for his family. He also fetches water for his neighbor, an old woman who doesn t seem to appreciate the risk he puts himself through for her. During his journey, he is angered after seeing men drive around in fancy cars while he and his family starve. These are clearly men

How can a person who buys food at a perfectly organized grocery store feel the same urgency for environmental ethics as a deer that eats plants for food? Leopold puts such thought in this way: He has no vital relation to it; to him it is the space between cities on which crops grow... In short, land is something he has outgrown. (Leopold, 293) There will an advancement in land ethics only when the individuals face direct impact from their environmental choices. Land ethics, thereby, is not just an intellectual process but also an emotional
