o Alerts the cyclist via voice control, of drivers coming closer from behind and sideways.
o Alerts drivers coming closer from behind and sideways of the cyclist via flashing lights.
According to annual report of 2012 following is the list of cyclist accident reported to
police and majority of death is by head injury (3 quartet according to statement) such
as fatal skull fractures and brain damage.

We will be using an ultrasonic piezoelectric sensor which is basically an acoustic proximity sensor.
 Advantages:
 Detect small object over long distance.
 No physical contact needed.

-Based on the speed of sound 341m/s in the air the
ultrasonic sensor calculate the distance to an object
using the time between when a wave its emitted
and received multiplied by the speed of sound
divided by 2. because the wave travel to the object
and come back to the sensor.

Adruino Uno
 The Arduino is a circuit board comprised of a microcontroller, which is able to receive sensor inputs
and control many electrical outputs such as buzzers, motors and leds. The microcontroller is
programmed using programmable language and there are various types of circuit board, each suited to
specific applications.
Principle of working ultrasonic sensor with Arduino Uno circuit
 When I/O trigger at 10us (high-level signal) Arduino Uno board sends eight 40 kHz and detect whether
there is a Pulse signal back, when the signal back through high level, time of high output IO duration
is the time from sending ultrasonic to returning.

 Worrying about the safety of cyclists on the road, we designed the “Smart Helmet” in order
to reduce accident related to cyclists by using a distance sensing technology to increase the
awareness of the cyclist and drivers next to him. The smart helmet will therefore be more
intelligent than the common types of cyclist helmet on the market as those mainly protect
from head injuries.
