IT’S A NEEDS OF OUR FUTURE…

• SMART HELMET The thought of developing this project came from social
responsibility towards the society. As we can see many accidents occurring
around us. Usually people die due to lack of treatment in proper time. The
reasons for this may be many such as late arrival of ambulance, no person at
place of accident to give information to the ambulance. I came up with this idea
of giving the information about accident as soon as possible and in time. So we
can minimize death rate in bike accident. I placed vibration sensors in different
places of helmet where the probability of hitting is more which are connected
to Arduino board. So when the rider crashes and the helmet hits the ground, the
sensors sense and the Arduino extract GPS data using the GPS module that is
interfaced with Arduino. When the data exceeds minimum stress limit then
GSM module automatically sends message to ambulance or police or family
members with GPS location.
PROBLEM DUETO LACK OF SMART HELMET
• Proposed system:
 The idea of our project is to first check if the rider has actually wear the helmet or not it will notify the
rider to wear helmet Mandatory.
 If the rider is not wearing helmet even after the notification then the vehicle will not start.
 The Transmitter and receiver is used to send a message to ignition to the start vehicle or not.
 This mechanism can also be implement in four wheelers.
 It can be used for real time safety system.
• Advantages of Proposed System:
 It is used to notify the rider to wear the helmet.
 If the rider is not wear helmet the vehicle will not start.
 It is used to prevent accindent and save the life.
 It is cost efficient.

 ALL ABOUT SMART HELMET
A smart helmet is a type of protective headgear used by the rider which makes bike
driving safer than before.The main purpose of this helmet is to provide safety for
the rider.This can be implemented by using advanced features like alcohol
detection, accident identification, location tracking, use as a hands free device, fall
detection.This makes it not only a smart helmet but also a feature of a smart bike.
It is compulsory to wear the helmet, without which the ignition switch cannot turn
ON.An RF Module can be used as wireless link for communication between
transmitter and receiver. If the rider is drunk the ignition gets automatically locked,
and sends a message to the registered number with his current location. In case of
an accident it will send a message through GSM along with location with the help of
GPS module.The distinctive utility of project is fall detection; if the rider falls down
from the bike it sends a message…
The Purpose:-
The thought of developing this project comes from social responsibility towards the society. As we can see
many accidents occurring around us, there is a lot of loss of life. According to a survey of India there are
around 400 accidents occurring due to bike crashes per day. If accidents are one issue, lack of treatment in
proper time is another reason for deaths. According to the same survey , nearly half the injured people die
due to lack of treatment in proper time. So, a thought from taking responsibility of society came our project
?SMART HELMET“
The Technology:-
The helmet senses an accident with the help of an vibrational sensor and if there's an accident we have
chose GSM technology to give the information by sending SMS. We are using GSM module which has SIM
card slot to place the SIM and send SMS with the location given by GPS module. To run the GPS and GSM
module we use Arduino UNO board which has ATmega328 microcontroller. The Arduino is a very user
friendly device which can be easily interfaced with any sensors or modules and is very compact in size.
Additional Details:-
The best part about this project is that it doesn't work until it's worn since a limit switch has been added
inside the helmet. Therefore it doesn't send messages if it thrown or falls down Also it's calibrated such
that it won’t send messages for values due to speed breaker's a other small knocks.
FUTURE SCOPE :-
1. We can implement various bioelectric sensors on the
helmet to measure various activities.
2. We can use small camera for the recording the drivers
activity. It can be used for passing message from the
one vehicle to another vehicle by using wireless
transmitter.
Conclusion :-
The designed Smart helmet ensures the safety of the rider
by making it necessary to wear helmet, and also ensures
that the rider hasn’t consumed alcohol more than the
permissible limit. If any of these prime safety rules are
violated, the proposed system will prevent the biker from
starting the bike. The system also helps in efficient
handling of the aftermath of accidents by sending a SMS
with the location of the biker to the police station. This
ensures that the victims get proper and prompt medical
attention, if he/she met with an accident
